- 2:23are you kids morning? How are you? I'm glad, I'm going to
- 2:25glad, honored to be here for a second time. Second time. Yes,
- 2:30that's a true first person in history here. If you do the Friday
- 2:34Fun House, this is the show on Fridays where we just don't talk news
- 2:38or politics or anything unless we absolutely have to. We just we try to
- 2:40have a little bit of fun. That's what we do. Yeah, your
- 2:43list, because you can only do that dried up here like we got to
- 2:46get our bad. Well, now you are going to be doing your AMC
- 2:51House for Tatas tonight. Very excited, that's why you're here. I wore
- 2:53pink today and I didn't even think about that and how appropriate. Well,
- 2:57somebody that frequently wears pink is Chris Lawrence. Yeah, and for Camo,
- 3:00he loves the digital pink camera Chris Lawrence is here to talk about it on
- 3:06you as that is your cheeks. I don't wear pink anything ever he's wearing
- 3:13for any reason whatsoever. I do not wear pink. Your cheeks are pink
- 3:19right now? Whatever? Are you one of those guys that says I can't
- 3:21wear pink? Yes, I am. That's okay. I've got a not
- 3:27Safe for radio routine that I do about that about But so I can't do
- 3:30it on the on the show. I don't care. It's not going to
- 3:32change me. Yeah, well, I'll do it at some point. My
- 3:36boss is on the other My boss was producing the show today, so he's
- 3:38my boss too. You think I care? I'm not wearing Pinkuse this is
- 3:44the first time I've ever actually been on a broadcast with Amanda Baron, So
- 3:46I'm pretty excited, is it? Really? We've never done this before.
- 3:49We've never been on the air at the same time ever. I remember the
- 3:52first time we ever talked, though, Really, do you want that story
- 3:54or got to be scary? Sure? Go ahead, make it quick.
- 3:58Called the newsroom was early one morning and he's asking questions and he said,
- 4:02you don't even know who I am? And I said, yes, I
- 4:05do. I'll never forget. I could still hear you saying it, and
- 4:09I was like, I know who you are, mister Lawrence. I know
- 4:11who you are, Lawrence. And then I got your cell phone number and
- 4:15the rest is history. Yeah. I don't think I ever have been called
- 4:19mister Lawrence. Well, okay, mister Lawrence, would you like to talk
- 4:24high school football tonight? Yes, that's probably the best way to escape this
- 4:27conversation. What do you got tonight? We've got Spring Valley at George Washington,
- 4:30a pivotal game for both these teams. Spring Valley comes in they're three
- 4:33and four. GW is four and three. Now GW owns a couple of
- 4:36really quality wins because they beat Hurricane and they knocked off Parkersburg, So both
- 4:43of them have a lot to play for tonight with the end of the season
- 4:46on the horizon, just a couple of weeks left in the regular season,
- 4:48and the winner of this game tonight this will go a long way toward postseason
- 4:53positioning and you know, navigating what path you're going to have to take to
- 4:58go further into the playoffs. So be a really big game tonight. It'll
- 5:00be interesting to see if George Washington can corral the running game of Spring Valley,
- 5:09and whether Spring Valley can slow down the skill positions of George Washington,
- 5:14because of those are the strings of both teams. Spring Valley is a team
- 5:16that likes to slow everything down, control the football and not allow the other
- 5:21team to have a lot of possessions, whereas gw has got the power of
- 5:26the big play and they can strike at any time in a matter of seconds.
- 5:30So it's like lightning in a bottle sometimes when you watch George Washington.
- 5:34So she'll be fun and we'll be on the air at seven tonight, kickoff
- 5:38at seven point thirty, and it'll be Matt Guitar, Murphy and Jarrett Lewis
- 5:42and myself. On one hand, you can say it's a nasty night for
- 5:46high school football, But on the other hand, you can say this is
- 5:47what football is supposed to be. Rainy, dreary, fall like weather.
- 5:51I love it. I talked to Tony about this this morning, regarding Tomorrow's
- 5:56Mountaineer game against Oklahoma State, and I said, do you think it's going
- 5:59to have any impact? He said, well, it's going to be very
- 6:00typical from mid October, you know, it's going to be cooler, it
- 6:03might be raining, it might be a little windy, but that's kind of
- 6:06what we look for in Yeah, in West Virginia this time of year,
- 6:10that's what you get. And of course after the game, stick around for
- 6:12Fred and Dave Jacklin with a Metro News game night, how about West Virginia
- 6:15outdoors tomorrow morning. I got a couple of cool stories about big bucks.
- 6:19A guy from down in your country, he went off to Kentucky to college
- 6:26and he just finished up, but he brought back a lady with him.
- 6:29Actually she lives in Nashville, but it's his girlfriend and he brought her in
- 6:32last week and she killed a gigantic Logan County buck. She's from out in
- 6:38western Kentucky. And I get an opportunity to quiz her about her first impression
- 6:43of walking those mountains in Logan County to try and hunt. That was kind
- 6:46of funny, from the flatlands to the hill country. And then another guy
- 6:49from Raleigh County is going to join us to tell the story of a buck
- 6:51he killed, not really a very gigantic buck, but he killed it in
- 6:56self defense because the dang thing nearly killed him. So we'll have that story
- 6:59on Tomar as well. Sounds like that's a that's a TV story waiting there
- 7:02going to happen this baron. Yeah, Chris Lawrence scooping me again. All
- 7:06right, all right, Chris, mister Lawrence. I appreciate you being here.
- 7:11We'll talk soon. Man. Thanks, I have a good broadcast tonight.
- 7:13Thank you. It's always a pleasure. Man, A nice seeing you.
- 7:15Good to see you. Why do you never say it's nice to see
- 7:16me? Because it's not? Okay? All right? Five, any Live
- 7:19is brought to you. Part about Husband's Pizza. This month at your favorite
- 7:23husband's get a large eighteen inch pepper Ony pizza and pizza d only twenty one
- 7:27ninety nine. Find your local Husband's Pizza for dining in delivery pickup at Huston's

- 7:33You deserve better, to deserve I'll deserve my hell heck of a lot better
- 7:39real quick. Upon the high school on sports not high school. Last night
- 7:42the Marshall game, there was a young man who I know very well,
- 7:46JJ Roberts from Cable Midland went off to play at wake Forest, came back
- 7:50to play at Marshall. He suffered a horrific injury in the Marshall game last
- 7:55night. He did, but I'm happy to report that his mother posted on
- 8:00social media that he seems to be doing fine. I mean to see that
- 8:03hit, it was just one of the It wasn't a cheap hit. It's
- 8:05just one of those things. He was just in the pile and he bounced
- 8:07off and had no feeling at all in his arms or legs. It was
- 8:11horrific to see. Happy to report at least that's what his mother posted on
- 8:15social media, that he has feeling in his extremity. So, and he's
- 8:18a good young man. I got to know him through my one of my
- 8:22other jobs I have, and and he's just he's just a great, great
- 8:26young man, local guy and kind of guy that you are always pulling for
- 8:31in life. And so a lot of thoughts and prayers went up for JJ
- 8:33Roberts last night for Marshall. But he's apparently going to be okay. So
- 8:37that number eleven defensive back and just redshirt junior ice to see him home.
- 8:43Yeah, and if that was horrible and he gave that thumbs up, it
- 8:45was a simul leaf. But our sports director Kessie would sad you could hear
- 8:46a pin drop? Oh yeah, she said it was just really, really
- 8:50intense, and I'm glad to know his mom posted that this morning. Yeah,
- 8:54let's go to Hannah Gardner with our domy please. Ped of the Week
- 8:56from the Kennal Charleston Newman Association. Hannah, Amanda, Amanda, Hannah,
- 9:01good morning, Good morning, Hannah's about Hannah's the biggest stars you are now
- 9:05you realize that she was doing the Lord's work. I'm telling you because helping
- 9:09all these animals is just so awesome. So we appreciate everything that you guys
- 9:13do. I know I call there about animals all the time. We appreciate
- 9:18you. It's definitely hard work, but it's very rewarded. It is in
- 9:20that face. This morning. You have the story our pet that we're trying
- 9:26to get adopted this week. His name is Sam. Picture posted on Dave
- 9:28Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave A seventy on ex that's the artist formally
- 9:33known as Twitter. Tell us about Sam, Hannah, because this is a
- 9:35special All of our animals are specialle this one is especially special. If you
- 9:39will go, Yes, he is especially special. But he came to our
- 9:45shelter. He actually came in as astray, but he had a really strong
- 9:50like limp in his walk as well as a headtope, so we were sure
- 9:56that maybe he had been hit by like a car or something had happened.
- 10:01But after our medical team looked at him and they assessed him and everything,
- 10:05they came to find out that he what looks like he had a previous injury
- 10:11that didn't heal correctly. So he's just been kind of like that for a
- 10:16while. It seems he's very used to being like that. He definitely gets
- 10:22around perfectly fine, but he just doesn't use that leg or anything like that
- 10:28now. His head tilt and stuff. They they think that that's gonna be
- 10:31a long term, maybe even a lifelong thing, but it doesn't affect him
- 10:37really in any way. So he's definitely a very outgoing boy, but he's
- 10:43also a very lazy boy. He's about eight years old. Like I said,
- 10:46he came in at astray. He's not fixed yet, but he will
- 10:50be before he goes home. He's microchipped and vaccinated. He's ready to go
- 10:56on all that, but I'm not sure exactly how he is to dogs due
- 11:00to the special needs that he does have medically, like his arm and his
- 11:05headfilt and stuff. We don't want to put him in our playgroups and risk
- 11:09something happening to him trying to play with another dog or something, so we
- 11:13just kind of take him out on our own and he stays in the back
- 11:16office. So he's he's special in that way as well. He gets to
- 11:20kind of hang out in the back office where where I am, so I
- 11:24get to see him every day. So if you do have another dog,
- 11:28you're more than welcome to do a meet and greet where you can bring your
- 11:33dog up to the shelter and we can meet or kind of just see how
- 11:37they do together. I love that he's lazy. It kind of is like
- 11:41the perfect You know, that little head tilt makes him so endearing too,
- 11:43I can only imagine. Can you tell that he's just appreciative of all of
- 11:48this attention? Yes, yes, he definitely loves getting all the attention,
- 11:52and whenever you walk into the room the back office, if you don't give
- 11:56him attention, he will make it know that you didn't give him a tension.
- 12:01He definitely loves listening to music. He starts to get up and get
- 12:05excited. So that's one very cute He's an answer. He is. He
- 12:09is, we call him a little little butt. Answer is already doing the
- 12:11leans there you go. Yeah, but he he when, for example,
- 12:18when somebody comes to the door, he he doesn't get up. Obviously he's
- 12:20got some special needs, so he can't really hop up to it and get
- 12:24up and greet you and stuff like that. But he definitely will bark at
- 12:30the door and let you know that someone is there. He doesn't really act
- 12:33upon anything. He just kind of lets you know, like, hey,
- 12:35someone's here and I don't know who they are. Do something about it,
- 12:39That's what he says. Yeah, he says, you do something about it.
- 12:41Had I got a text here because you know, as I said,
- 12:45you get fan mail here in the form of text that says, we start
- 12:48by the shelter yesterday to drop off donations, and we always go in the
- 12:52cat room. There were two cats that both had cruelty neglect on their cards.
- 12:56Can Hamma possibly tell us what happened to those sweet kiddies? I think
- 12:58they should be adopted together. Do you are you familiar with those Well,
- 13:03I know that we have a couple that are on a cruelty neglect told like
- 13:09that. So I'm not exactly sure which one, like which cases it could
- 13:13be from, but I know that we do have one and one big group
- 13:18that came in and they're from a cruelty case. But you know, we're
- 13:22not allowed to say much about that other than that they are. They'll be
- 13:26available eventually, It's just a matter of time and it depends on, you
- 13:31know, how everything goes. But typically if they're in the same cage together
- 13:35or something, or if they seem to be bonded, then we will list
- 13:39them as bonded so that way people will know and we'll make sure that everybody
- 13:43can see that. But when they're on cruelty neglect hold, we don't really
- 13:46put much about them, just because they can't adopted really anyways. All right,
- 13:50Hannah, as always a pleasure to have you on the show, and
- 13:52the picture of Sam is posted. We'll talk again next week. Thanks a
- 13:56lot, awesome thank you and a gardener again from charlest new Man Association.
- 14:01I do want to bring this up next Saturday in hand and I will talk
- 14:03about it in detail next Saturday. The twenty eighth Dutch miller Subaru over Patrick
- 14:07Street. He got an event with the Animal Shelter going on starting a noon,
- 14:09their fifth annual adoption event. It's an opportunity for you to pick out
- 14:15a dog for your family. Plus you're going to do a trunk or treat
- 14:16for kids. And there is a food truck there for those in need that
- 14:20is sponsored by the Underprivileged Children Foundation. And there's music. West Virginia's own
- 14:26Emmy Davis is going to be performing there as well. Now that's all next
- 14:28week and Hanna and I will talk about it on next week's segment. It's
- 14:31Saturday, the twenty eighth at Dutch Miller Subaru, Patrick Street, Plouse and
- 14:35Charleston with the Canal Charleston Humane Association. So hats off to those folks at
- 14:39Dutch Miller for making that happen all right, Now again our dog this week
- 14:43picture posts to Dave All on radio and Facebook and at Dave A seventy on
- 14:46X It's Sam, eight years old, came in as astray, not fixed
- 14:50yet but will be micro chipped and vaccinated some special needs. Medically, we
- 14:54don't know how he is with the dogs. Bring your dog up, we'll
- 14:58do a meet and great his shoulder and kind of arm area is broken.
- 15:03It's an old injury, but that's just the way it heals old football injury.
- 15:07That's an old football injury. And it has a head tilt to the
- 15:09side. That picture though, you know, if you like, when you
- 15:11buy a picture frame and it comes with the pictures that are already in it,
- 15:16that's what the picture of Sam looks like. It's like the picture that
- 15:18would be in the frame when you buy. At the start, go back
- 15:20by Sam. He's a good looking dog. And again you know, like
- 15:22she said, he's kind of lazy, which eight, that's nothing wrong with
- 15:26that. I'd want to be exactly I think. I am five. Eny

- 18:30Today we got Amanda Barron here from WWK TV thirteen, who is my first
- 18:34ever second time co host. Yes, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I
- 18:41did get to start on did you do ten questions when we were here before?
- 18:42Oh? You started it after I was so I think that there's like
- 18:45you get grandfather and you don't have to do it. You're doing Ten Questions
- 18:48a little bit later on Ten Questions with a man of Baron. Definitely don't
- 18:51want to miss that. That's coming up a little bit. And I feel
- 18:52like there's a bit of a WOWKTV takeover this morning because over in the corner,
- 18:57I got Nikki Walters here. I mean, are you got did you
- 19:00guys bias? And we're not aware of it. I mean Nicki Walters has
- 19:03got an event coming up this weekend and you have News Nation on when is
- 19:07Next Star? So you know what, we are just very grateful to a
- 19:10set here. You know, I'm a fan. It's it's not it's on
- 19:15biased news. What a concept is something to be said? What a concept
- 19:18for that? All right? So a big event is going on tonight and
- 19:23it has to do with comedy. It's Hajas for Tatas is what it's called.
- 19:29I love the title. Amanda is going to be serving as the MC
- 19:32for that. It's happening at the Holiday Inn in Sweets of South Charleston.
- 19:34Al Ernst is one of the comedians is going to be taking party that.
- 19:37He joins us right now, how good morning, Hey, how's it going?
- 19:41So she let me get this right because I lost the algebra math.
- 19:45It's the second time of the first time. She's answering ten questions. You
- 19:49get one chance to co host this Showy Dave needed someone to come in.
- 19:53He was like, could you please commit? And then he said you're the
- 19:56You're the first person the second time. But then there's more numbers, right,
- 20:00same question, you know, being being that I went to you know
- 20:04school in Georgia and North Carolina. I'm really losing it at that point,
- 20:10I got no, it's early. Yeah, I just didn't make through calculus.
- 20:14So well, tell you tell us about how before we before we do
- 20:18funny stuff, tell us about tell you well? I mean, the greatest
- 20:22coincidence for Charleston, West Virginia is that when I left my day job as
- 20:26an executive thirty four years ago, and of course I turned in my resignation
- 20:30and the boss said, what are you gonna do? Is I'm gonna be
- 20:33a comedian And he laughed and and I said, that'll be one hundred dollars
- 20:38please as all the professional now. But I happened to get in with the
- 20:44Comedy Zone chain and my very first paid professional gig as a full time comedian
- 20:51was Charleston, West Virginia. Really yes, and that the Comedy Zone which
- 20:56was a holiday in in downtown Charleston way back when. And in nineteen ninety
- 21:03I started the big tour. I had Beckley on Wednesday, Parkersburg on Thursday,
- 21:11and Charleston Friday and Saturday. So I knew I had made the big
- 21:15time. Sounds like a lot of TV careers, yeah you know, yeah,
- 21:18yeah, so this is kind of a real like thirty four years later
- 21:25and many trips through back through when they had the Comedy Zone here in Charleston,
- 21:30I've been here, but yeah. And also I was a professional wrestler
- 21:34for three years and I wrestled at the at the Charleston Civic Center. That's
- 21:40really all of times. Yeah. Well, and oddly enough, that's why
- 21:42Nicky Walters is here because she's got a pro wrestling event as a fundraiser,
- 21:48and so Nicki is who's over here in the co we put Nicki? Nobody
- 21:52puts Nicky in. Nobody nobody puts it. But Nicki is actually into the
- 21:56professional wrestling thing herself. That's why she's here. Well, Nikki I was,
- 21:59I was uh worked for the old w c W out of Atlanta and
- 22:03I was the Inferno and my record was oh and two sixty four. Right,
- 22:10that's impressive. Hey, you were making him laugh in the ring too.
- 22:12Let me explain the check cleared and when and when they tell you how
- 22:18to how to and and the amazing part was how it actually started. I
- 22:21actually started as the ring announcer. I was the guy who you know,
- 22:25brought the guys the ring, and we set up an angle where Abdullah the
- 22:30butcher, if you can believe, I was going to clothesline me on the
- 22:36and then the good guy would come in and rescue me. Well, Abby,
- 22:38as we all love to lovingly call him, gets really psyched up for
- 22:42his matches, and he picked me up and threw me out of the ring
- 22:48onto the cement floor, and uh, you know, I was it hurt.
- 22:52And the promoter came in and went, man, you really sold that,
- 22:56and I said yeah, because it hurt that course, and they said,
- 23:00well, you know, do you want to get trained and doing this?
- 23:03And next thing, you know, I spent about three years between doing
- 23:07stand up comedy and and doing professional wrestling. Wow, we have a lot
- 23:12in commonly now because I also not as a wrestler, but as I spent
- 23:17thirty years as a ring announcer, so I've done ring announcing, I have.
- 23:22I've done some comedy, not not very well, but I've done actually
- 23:25done some comedy. So have you ever done radio? I mean, perhaps
- 23:29you're my father, could be you know, no, I'll probably you know.
- 23:36I know, I think I know where I was over the last thirty
- 23:38years. Well I did, yet I did get surprised on that one too.
- 23:41I have to tell you. I was in Greensboro, North Carolina.
- 23:45I'm shaking hands at the end of the show, and this lady about my
- 23:48age comes up and says, do you remember me? I'm Janet Janet and
- 23:55I just went and you know, no matter how good of a life you
- 23:57have lived, that oh crap meter goes through your head, going, what
- 24:03you know, irs, restraining orders, you know, anything I can think
- 24:08of? And she goes, no, the YMCA camp nineteen seventy five,
- 24:15and I and you know, that's not a clue. And for me,
- 24:18because I immediately knew, believe it or not, at the age of twelve
- 24:22going on thirteen, that was the first girl I ever kissed, and my
- 24:26total random She was in my sou in Greensboro, twenty five years later,
- 24:32isn't that some Yeah, and so I'm just glad that you said kissed on
- 24:36my show. I just didn't say anything else. Okay, well it's thirty
- 24:40you know, it was nineteen seventy five. I thought that was going.
- 24:44You know, when you're twelve years old, that was going all the way.
- 24:47Yeah, well you're getting well, well a lot from southern West Virginia.
- 24:49So it's we started early. Now I understand what I understand. You
- 24:53know, I was from Georgia, so we just you know, I was
- 24:57just real happy, you know. I was a fat kid. I was
- 25:00happy to get kid. I was going, Okay, we've done everything we
- 25:03need to do. We held hands on the way back up the hill.
- 25:07I was I thought that was it. I didn't know there was more to
- 25:11it than that. Well, you left an impression on her, Yeah,
- 25:14yes I did, and she uh you know. Then then she introduced me
- 25:18to her her extremely handsome husband, and I went, okay, well I
- 25:22can see she moved up the laser, you know, as that does he
- 25:26have your wit though, Because let's be honest, we're very much looking forward
- 25:30to hearing you tonight. Well, you know, I'm the best comedian in
- 25:33my price range. I love the confidence. Yeah, I can't be that,
- 25:37you know, I'm you know, I mean well, I mean honestly,
- 25:41goodness. People don't understand that there are a lot of us out there
- 25:44that do this full time and don't have big star I mean yeah, I've
- 25:48you know, had my time on television and just recently on an episode of
- 25:53Ted Lasso and uh and and everything like that. But we aren't recognized,
- 26:00you know. But this is this is our job, and we just go
- 26:03from place to place and do our shows and and then try to make a
- 26:07living at it and keep the mortgage guy and the irs one step trying us
- 26:12to stay. So for tatsas is tonight, there's also auctions going on.
- 26:18Miss Baron here will be serving as the MC tonight Holiday inn in Sweets and
- 26:22South Charleston VIP doors open at six thirty, general emissions seven thirty. Complete
- 26:26information available on their Facebook page for the West Virginia Breast Healthcare Initiative. Jazz
- 26:30gil I think of my pronunce Jazz Gill is on one of the other comedians.
- 26:34It's going to be there tonight, So al, what's on your mind?
- 26:38Give us a little bit here what so what what? What? What
- 26:41can people expect when they come out tonight? We don't want to give it
- 26:42away, but what's on your mind these days? Well, I mean,
- 26:45you know, obviously, you know, we all's comedians got kind of stuck
- 26:51in that two year gap during COVID and people don't understand as I was just
- 26:56explaining what it was like to have to to do comedy via zoom yeah yeah,
- 27:03yeah, because the agent will tell you to how to set up your
- 27:07camera and they said make it look like a theater, and I'm like,
- 27:11I'm just trying to avoid my toilet not being shown, you know, on
- 27:15the screen when I'm getting in, you know, on there. And then
- 27:19these people pop in and they don't know how to and especially I'm no offense
- 27:25to older people. I'm an older guy, but they don't know how to
- 27:26work it. You know, they don't know, and so they don't mute
- 27:30when they're supposed to mute, and then they say things you can hear them
- 27:33and it is comedy, right, So and there's always that gap, you
- 27:37know, there's a timing gap in that. So you got that. But
- 27:41my my favorite thing was the second part of the you know, we thought
- 27:45we were coming out of it. We got that one in twenty twenty one
- 27:48where they just came out and said, it is this one so contagious that
- 27:53if you are going to have romance that evening, that while you're having romance,
- 28:00you should wear a mask. And I said to myself, I've been
- 28:04married for thirty nine years and that has always been the rule at our house.
- 28:11No differences summer camp. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, so you
- 28:17probably had plenty of masks. Well, I was happy with COVID because only
- 28:21wear half a mask instead of the whole mask. And you know, and
- 28:25that's now the pandemic's over. I'm back to the whole mask again. And
- 28:29uh, you know so it's a nice yeah. Yeah, so I mean,
- 28:33you know, but that's those are you know. What you'll hear my
- 28:37show tonight is a lot of stuff about just stories that we all go through,
- 28:41you know, because being a big guy, you know, my my
- 28:45thing. You know, I flew into the uh Chuck Jaeger International Regional Airport
- 28:51truck stop and launder Matt and and they still have the you know. My
- 28:56favorite thing that they said to me is, you know you got to you
- 29:00know, a fat guy and they go, you got to take your shoes
- 29:03off, and I'm going I don't have this kind of time. I'm going
- 29:06to miss my flight if I have to bend over and take my shoes off
- 29:10at the I mean, we can, we have vaccines and AI, we
- 29:12can see people from satellites, but I still have to take my shoes off.
- 29:17Dear, have you ever seen a fat terrorist put a bomb in his
- 29:19shoes? That doesn't happen. It doesn't, It just doesn't happen, you
- 29:23know. So, uh, you know, I just want to see your
- 29:26pedicure. Yeah, well I think, yeah, well that's my favorite.
- 29:33Well it's being that's my favorite. You go into the scanning machine in there,
- 29:36and there's honestly now a sign that says the TSA technician cannot see your
- 29:41private area. That's what these sign says. And I said, I can't
- 29:47see my private area. You know what I said. I'm looking for you
- 29:52guys to take a picture for me, just so I know, you know,
- 29:56I hope we're not violating any rules. Oh you're f boss is producing
- 30:00the show day, so it's all good. Its hopefully we're still good.
- 30:03But I mean, you know those are but it's real life it's real life
- 30:07stories, you know. And my mom, being from North Georgia, moved
- 30:14to Florida to retire at age eighty seven, and she's in one of those
- 30:17old people's cities, you know, she lives in one of those old people
- 30:21and I mean there there's some old I thought one lady to act her age
- 30:26and she died, so uh, you know, you know these are old
- 30:30people. These are very old people. So anyway, Yeah, it's just
- 30:37it's gonna be a great night. I'm gonna miss this tonight. The man
- 30:41is gonna be there as your ce Hey, al, I appreciate you being
- 30:44here at Tajas for tatas And again it's all happening at the Holiday Ins Suite
- 30:48in South Charleston, which was also a home for a while to the Comedy
- 30:52Zone. So I spent a New Year's Eve when it was a home for
- 30:55the Comedy Zone year and we didn't even get to the second show before they
- 30:59called the police and broke the party up over there. Would you happen to
- 31:03know a local guy by the name of Brian Thompson, Btcause as soon as
- 31:08you said police, I thought, BT, that's what I thought. Yeah,
- 31:11I mean I was it was a great night. We didn't even have
- 31:15to bring in the New Year. We got we got just through the first
- 31:18show. Everybody got so crazy. They called and they just said, don't
- 31:22don't worry about it. We'll pay you. Just go back to your room.
- 31:26I was like, this is the best New Year's Eve I had helping
- 31:29out breast cancer patients. Like, isn't enough for you? Just come tonight
- 31:33for the amazing party. Yeah, it's fun, but like I said,
- 31:38it's real life stuff. I mean, I'm not though I'm born and raised
- 31:41in Georgia, I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. I mean.
- 31:45We had bumper stickers on the back of our cars that read I wish my
- 31:49child were an honor student and uh well actually they didn't. They said,
- 31:53my honor student just had a child. But anyway, you know, so
- 31:57you know, I appreciate it. You and Jazz Gil tonight at the Comedy
- 32:02Zone are actually I'm so called with the comedies, O, the holiday Ins
- 32:05and sow maybe be the Comedy Zone again sometimes has for Tatas. So I
- 32:09appreciate you being here. Thank yous a lotch for having me at five ety

- 35:21a kid doing good? Doing good? This is an exciting weekend coming up.
- 35:24So there's so many things going on in the area this weekend. I
- 35:27mean, wu has got homecoming over in Putnam. Candy Buffalo's got their fall
- 35:30festival going on, we got Bridge Day going on this weekend. Uh,
- 35:36justs for tatas tonight and you're gonna you're gonna pile on it by talking about
- 35:40wrestling. Yes, so the wrestling show is one aspect of our big fundraiser
- 35:46for horses this weekend. And I realized those two things may not seem like
- 35:51they go together, but been in wrestling, they have the main event.
- 35:57Yeah, you're performing tonight at the That's that's why I only did three comedy
- 36:02shows. But go ahead and go ahead. It was on his feet,
- 36:06then go ahead. So we're doing a horsemanship clinic Saturday day. And where's
- 36:12all this happening. This is all Winfield Riding Club in Kunfield near the Wendy's.
- 36:15So we're doing a horsemanship clinic earlier in the day, and since we
- 36:19already have the facility for the weekend, we started incorporating what's called the barnyard
- 36:23beat Down into the into the weekend. And so it's a wrestling show in
- 36:29a barn. Okay, so you're like in the dirt, you're in the
- 36:32area where the horses ride, and you're sitting there in your camping chair or
- 36:37on our bleachers watching the show. Okay, And so we're gonna have the
- 36:40main event is a barnyard bunk house match. Okay, Now I know what
- 36:45a bunk house match is, Amanda. You may not know what a bunk
- 36:46house match is. Explain to the people on a bunk house matches, Nicky.
- 36:51Well, just in layman's terms, things are going to get a little
- 36:52crazier than they would in a normal match. So we're gonna have doors.
- 36:57We're gonna have a door wrapped in barbed wire, chair wrapped in barbed wire,
- 37:00and so the action very well may exit the ring. So and the
- 37:07wrestlers normally wear like street clothes. I mean, it's like blue jeans,
- 37:10cowboy boots in the dirt you'll be in the ring, but then there's a
- 37:15ring yeah, okay, but then they also exit the ring usually during these
- 37:20types of wine because it's very much anything goes and it's not every day you
- 37:23see a door wrapped in barbed wire at a wrestling I mean responsible for that
- 37:30aspect of it. Actually a colleague of ours, Elizabeth, I'm going to
- 37:34be asking her. I am not surprised this. Elizabeth's just happened to have
- 37:38a door wrapped in barbed wire. She's our go to, like barbed wire
- 37:42assistant. Well, that's that'll look good on a business card. He's very
- 37:45handy. She's very handy. Other skills barbed wire assistant. Right, So
- 37:51we've got Otis Koger coming in to face Ron Mathis in the the bunk House
- 37:55match, okay, and Otis hasn't been in this area for a bit.
- 38:00His brother is Atticus Koger from four four O Fame. Okay. And then
- 38:06we also have the Lynch Boys. So last year when I was here,
- 38:09we talked about Alan Lynch and he made an appearance at the Barnyard beat Down.
- 38:15So for the first time in a decade, both of his brothers are
- 38:17going to be Jordan. I know the Lynch Boys very well from for my
- 38:21days in wrestling. Yeah, mine too, from twenty years ago. So
- 38:24it's super There are three brothers and they're all pro wrestlers. But they're all
- 38:29three at least they were then when I worked in three distinctly different styles.
- 38:34Okay, the styles and gimmicks, you wouldn't know that they were brothers,
- 38:37but they but they indeed are, and they're at least then they were fantastic.
- 38:40I'm sorry to feel like my sisters and I missed out because we did
- 38:43a little wrestling, but you know, like sister beat down kind of wrestling.
- 38:46We miss our Mark. That's callingland Cleveland beat down. I mean,
- 38:52I think we really missed our Mark. Those brothers though, and then we
- 38:58have Thunderfoot versus Nurse Micah. Are you familiar with Nurse Micah? Does it
- 39:01make me able to say I knew Nurse Micah's grandfather. Yeah, he was
- 39:07also a pro wrestler. Okay, yeah, yeah, Big Bob McCoy,
- 39:09the legendary Big Bob McCoy. And you may recognize Corey Sparks. I know
- 39:15he's from southern West Virginia. Also, I believe we don't all know each
- 39:17other, okay, despite what you think. And then he's facing Nick Hamrick.
- 39:22And then we have Cal Poke, Paul the Poke, the Cawpoke.
- 39:27Yes, last year he came to the ring with one of our adoptable mini
- 39:30horses. Oh so I'm not sure what we're gonna have at Bursley this year
- 39:34for cal Poke. So he's going to be an action in a scramble match.
- 39:37Talk about the charitable aspect of this and why you're out there raising money
- 39:43for this because this is a passion of yours. I know you very well,
- 39:45Go ahead, right. So I operate a horse rescue here in West
- 39:47Virginia, and the need has been significant this year. There's been a lot
- 39:52of horses needing our help this year. There's been a waiting list literally all
- 39:57year. No sooner do I take two A And there's five needing to come
- 40:00in also right behind them. So we have an equine assistance program that is
- 40:07called day Solutions to avoid intake, and that helps us keep some horses from
- 40:12having to come to the rescue, but that's not always feasible. So the
- 40:15need has been greater than I have ever seen it. And the cost of
- 40:19everything, the cost of hey, the cost of grain, the cost of
- 40:22fuel to haul horses all over the state. Every cost has gone up,
- 40:27and so this year especially, this event is super important. This weekend is
- 40:32super important for us. All right, Well, give us all the details
- 40:36for people can learn more about the event, but also about the horse rescue
- 40:39that you do. All right. So our Facebook page is West Virginia Horse
- 40:45Network, Inc. There's another West Virginia Horse Network that's like a sale page,
- 40:49so don't go to that, go to the one that has ink at
- 40:51the end. And the header on the Facebook page will be about one of
- 40:57our events going on this weekend. So on Saturday, more and we have
- 41:00a horsemanship clinic with Mike Hurst from Philippi who does training mustangs and so forth.
- 41:06And then the Barnyard beat Down starts at seven. You can start going
- 41:09inside at six o'clock. Myself and Bruce Gray will be at the door collecting
- 41:15money and Yan and Hahn and celebrating any donations you can make. Admission is
- 41:22free by donations, so we don't want anyone to not be able to come
- 41:25to Just donate what you can at the door. And then the following day
- 41:29we have a huge horse show. Last year, we had a turnout that
- 41:35exceeded all of my expectations and so it's a high bar that we're hoping to
- 41:38meet again. So that horse show is at ten am on Sunday. So
- 41:44all of this is happening at Winfield Riding Clubs. Okay, And that's a
- 41:46that's a fantastic facility over there. It really really is, Nikki, best
- 41:51of luck with everything. It's always great to see you and and and enjoy
- 41:54the barbed wire repped the door wrapped in barbed wire. Oh. We also
- 41:58have a costume contests, okay, and Becky Lynch T shirt and autographed memorabilia
- 42:04is the top prize and that goes to the person dressed in the best wrestling
- 42:07themed costume, ma'am. So that'd be your chance. I can't even I
- 42:12can't even be funny here. The work Nikki does is amazing. And you
- 42:14would think that this is like a paid, full time gig, and it's
- 42:16not. This is just like straight from her heart. Yes, every single
- 42:20thing she does and every day, and she does it with such passion and
- 42:22conviction, and I just you're awesome, thank you. Yeah, T is
- 42:25indeed awesome. Yeah, all right, Nikki, I appreciate you being here.
- 42:30Thanks that you want to hang out for a little bitch. You want
- 42:31to see a man to do ten questions? Maybe I can do twenty quests.
- 42:35I've done that before because I had to do it at one point.
- 42:37But now this is just have to talk about. Oh yeah, we got

- 46:15we all right, I'm gonna go ahead and just go straight to ten questions.
- 46:17Are you ready for ten questions? No? But okay, okay,
- 46:21you're you've done the show before, but you didn't. We didn't want to
- 46:22doing the ten And just so you know, Nikki, what we do is
- 46:24with my guest hosts every week we ask them ten at random questions. They
- 46:29don't know what the questions are. They got to answer them as rapidly as
- 46:31possible and hopefully as clean as possible. Okay, all right, so that's
- 46:35the whole concept here. All right, Amanda, are you ready? And
- 46:37first of all, I got to give the disclaimer you've not seen the questions
- 46:40And for those of you listening a home, in your cars or in your
- 46:43devices, keep in mind, Amanda and I are trained professionals. Please do
- 46:45not try this at home. And as always, no wageram all right?
- 46:49Are you ready? I think? So? It's your day off? What
- 46:52are you watching on TV? Or are you watching TV at all? The
- 46:54office? We know you're a Cleveland girl and a Cleveland fan boom. Do
- 47:00you despise more the Steelers, the Bengals or the Ravens Ravens? All right,
- 47:05you're staying at a hotel. When you check in, do you immediately
- 47:08put your things away? Or does it all remain in the suitcase? Depends
- 47:12on how to mood am In. Name two things that are always on your
- 47:15desk at work? Chapstick and phone? Okay, bottle water? I really
- 47:20thought you saved vodka? All right? Name of your favorite uncle? Oh
- 47:23my gosh, Sam, the dog we had today? Uh? Food on
- 47:29your plate? Is it better that it not touch it all gets mixed together?
- 47:34I really don't care. I don't care. Happy to eat all right?
- 47:37Why are you sudamn perky? That's the guy who wrote that to the
- 47:39newspaper all those years ago. This is an ongoing keger in my breath.
- 47:44That's it inside joke. By the way. Yeah, so because Amanda got
- 47:46an email or he wrote into the newspaper said, hey, dial down down
- 47:52the perky, down the perky. That's what they said there, all right,
- 47:55Texter or caller texter? All right, could you get up social media
- 48:00for six months for ten thousand dollars? I deleted Facebook off my phone this
- 48:05week and glorious week. Uh, it's October twentieth of your seventh grade year.
- 48:10What are you doing that night? Oh gosh, besides beating up your
- 48:15sister. We already found that out earlier. He was beating me up.
- 48:17Actually, I don't know, probably something like homework. Okay, okay,
- 48:22her babysitting. Congratulations. Dave's so disappointed. I know. Sorry, I
- 48:28just saw his soul leave his body when he said that. It is not
- 48:30the answer you were looking for. Yeah, yeah, I did homework on
- 48:34senior skip day. Yeah, well I heard all right. Now, I
- 48:37worked on senior skip day. I went to work at a radio station.
- 48:39So that's what I did on senior yesterday. Congratulations, you have completed ten
- 48:44questions. That was it. That's its good, that's it. That's it.
- 48:45I listened to Hannahklin to it, and I remember thinking, I'm so
- 48:49glad he didn't do that for me those What was the question that I don't
- 48:52even remember? I don't make it. You see, Nikki, when you
- 48:55get to a guest host the show. Now, now, but there'll be
- 48:58totally different questions. Okay. Voicing my disdain for the Ravens, though,
- 49:00is something I like to do. I know, I'm fully aware of that.
- 49:05All right, So here, I'm gonna let you do this. This
- 49:07is not really a big deal. I think it is. It is not
- 49:09really a big deal. But something on the show is going to be changing
- 49:14on Monday. I think if we get everything taken care of, hopeful,
- 49:16hopefully everything's going to be so this Monday, there's gonna be a name change
- 49:23to the show. Change this show, And I think you're you're kind of
- 49:25downplaying it. But I'm going to be your buddy and your cheerleader, and
- 49:28I'm glad Nick he's here to be able to do the same. But on
- 49:30Monday, the show is now going to be called drum roll please, the
- 49:34Dave Allen Show. Congratulations rics. It's a great name. And what's really
- 49:39cool about it is the pay raise that comes from aong the rue telling me
- 49:44about it, signed a Coop deal. Coop out did himself on this pa
- 49:47that he doesn't know what I'm talking about. This is very cool, very
- 49:52exciting. At your show, is I mean something that we talk about in
- 49:53our morning meetings in the newsroom. You know, people talk about your show,
- 49:59people look forward to just listening to you. You bring a wide variety
- 50:02of guests, and I have really appreciated the way you ask some tough questions,
- 50:07but you do it in a way that's very respectful. And you can
- 50:10read the meanest text like Greg Thomas that somebody writes in about him. Are
- 50:15you doing It's like, Oh, it's just hey, hey Greg, listen
- 50:17to what someone just said and whoever's here, and you just do it with
- 50:22such grace. Wow, that's problem. Materirs like, it's not. It
- 50:25doesn't make you feel awkward when you're listening in your car. It's going to
- 50:28be awkward on Monday when I say five eighty Live ten thousand times because it's
- 50:30going to take a little getting used to. Well. I appreciate that.
- 50:32But yeah, starting Monday it'll be known as Today Valan Show, So I'm
- 50:37sure that's very cool. I appreciate it. We bring the trading Post back,
- 50:39and that's just to be clear that so we're no longer responsible for what
- 50:43he has to say. We had to get our name out of the things.
- 50:45We just had to give him all the responsibility for it. So hey
- 50:49man, it's yours, take off with it. Yeah, A big disclaimer
- 50:52on that show put a disclaimer like it's some kind of a crappy podcast.
- 50:55But anyway, that's decided to point. So so I do it. Appreciate
- 51:00it. I appreciate you you guys for being here and the nice words and
- 51:04everything. So I think we you know, we all used to hang out
- 51:06and logan together, John stories and things like that. I mean, I
- 51:08did this story when Dave retired, I don't know, I didn't retire.
- 51:14I just left the radio station. I'd worked there for twenty years in Logan,
- 51:16that's what it was. Yeah, yeah, you know, yeah,
- 51:20and you don't feel bad. Well I did retire from wrestling, Okay,
- 51:23yeah, I did retire. I got penned by JJ Dillon. That's how
- 51:27I retired. If you remember actually wrestled, well, it's a long story.
- 51:30They rolled me in the ring, they knocked me out, and Jay
- 51:32the legendary manager JJ Dillon penned me in the middle of the ring and those
- 51:35in in my wrestling career, I ever had a show with your name on
- 51:37it, though, it's just like ten questions for me now. Well,
- 51:40in Logan it was Dave in the morning. That's what for twenty years.
- 51:43So all right, coming up on Monday, New new show name, but
- 51:46no Mayor Monday this Monday because all the mayors are at a conference at Canaane
- 51:51Valley this Monday. I just found that out as I was trying to schedule
- 51:53somebody for Mayor Monday. So we're gonna have Stephen Allen Adams from Augden Newspapers
- 51:58going to stop by the studio. Also were to talk about Guys Not Out,
- 52:00which is gonna be happening next week at Oaksfield in St. Albans.
- 52:04It's in noun and kick that day too. I will be talking about that
- 52:07as well. Nikki Walters, best of luck with your great to see you
