- 0:00Speaker 1: Anthony Rizzo, David Ross, Michael Montgomery, Justin Grim. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: another episode of the Lovable Reunion Podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 2: This episode this week is with Mike.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Montgomery and Justin Grim, Unsung Hero and a World Series Hero.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Both World Series Hero closed out Game seven of the
- 0:27Speaker 1: World Series. Welcome guys on our show. It's been amazing
- 0:30Speaker 1: ten years later talking about reminiscent on good old times.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah, the Boys, the back of the Boys, it's been fun.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Grimmer, you you got traded over here in thirteen and
- 0:41Speaker 1: came up right away. I think he had like a
- 0:42Speaker 1: handful of games, right, yep, we stunk fourteen, We stunk where.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Let's get right into it. Where were you at? You
- 0:50Speaker 1: were in Texas? You were a dude there, right, Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I was a starter in Texas, you know, just finding
- 0:58Speaker 3: my way and then the trade happened.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Obviously wasn't very happy about it at the time. No shit, really, Well,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I was in the big leagues.
- 1:06Speaker 3: You know, they had a lot of injuries, and so
- 1:09Speaker 3: for me, I was kind of like floating, uh, still
- 1:14Speaker 3: finding my way. But you know, then when I got traded,
- 1:17Speaker 3: they were like, you're gonna go to Triple A, And
- 1:18Speaker 3: I was just kind of like, well, well, fuck, like
- 1:21Speaker 3: that sucks, you know, but uh, you know, fast forward down,
- 1:25Speaker 3: all worked out, I guess.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So yeah. I remember seeing Area Area. They were in
- 1:30Speaker 2: the corner, you know, just big broad chests. I was like,
- 1:32Speaker 2: who the hell is that guy? Like, you know, that
- 1:35Speaker 2: was like my first reaction seeing Area But yeah, so
- 1:40Speaker 2: kind of I just came up with.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Him, and Stroke was already in the big leagues, I think, so, yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 3: you all came over together.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Grimmer was such a big part of our teams throughout
- 1:50Speaker 1: the years. I mean, you came in thirteen, but fourteen, fifteen, sixty, seventeen, right,
- 1:55Speaker 1: seventeens were last year. And for me, I tell this
- 1:59Speaker 1: story all the time after I was done playing with you.
- 2:01Speaker 1: In sixteen, we were so good at coming back, and
- 2:04Speaker 1: I put all that on you because your role that
- 2:09Speaker 1: year our bullpen was so deep. Your role was kind
- 2:11Speaker 1: of if we were down two three runs, you would
- 2:15Speaker 1: be the guy that came in. And every time Grimmer
- 2:17Speaker 1: came in, he would bridge the gap for the inning
- 2:20Speaker 1: or two of relief that gave us a chance to win.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And so many times people would ask me, like, what's
- 2:27Speaker 1: it about this team? Why can't you guys come back.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm like, well, our bullpen isn't deep enough. And I'm like,
- 2:31Speaker 1: what do you mean? Your back end is amazing, and
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm like I understand that, but the back end can
- 2:36Speaker 1: only pitch when we're winning and when we're not winning.
- 2:40Speaker 1: If we don't have back end guys, because you are,
- 2:42Speaker 1: no doubt we're a back end guy on that bullpen
- 2:45Speaker 1: as well, bridging that gap and being dominant, we can't
- 2:49Speaker 1: come back.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And you were always that guy for us in sixteen.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I tell that story all the time. Awesome. Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 3: My big thing was like, you know, Joe, he's calling
- 3:00Speaker 3: down We're like down two runs, we're up two runs.
- 3:02Speaker 3: It could be in the fifth inning, it could be
- 3:03Speaker 3: in the eighth inning. You know, it can get tiring mentally,
- 3:06Speaker 3: but uh yeah, I just kind of after me and
- 3:10Speaker 3: him and talked. He's like, you're the fireman. You're gonna
- 3:14Speaker 3: put the fires out right, and uh, you know, one
- 3:16Speaker 3: thing after it was all said and downe it's like,
- 3:19Speaker 3: you know, like when you start an inning on your own,
- 3:22Speaker 3: you kind of try to get cute next saying no,
- 3:25Speaker 3: you're in a mess. And finally I was like, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: I get out all these fires, like can you not
- 3:31Speaker 3: just let me get put my own fire out?
- 3:33Speaker 2: One time? I got to sit here and watch this ship, right, So,
- 3:38Speaker 2: but yeah, well that's.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Why good bullpens are made of the guys that like
- 3:43Speaker 4: in a good staff, because the starter's grinding and then
- 3:46Speaker 4: you know he may have some traffic out there, and
- 3:50Speaker 4: how a team interacts and you know, kind of comes
- 3:53Speaker 4: together is because he trusts when you come in to
- 3:56Speaker 4: put out his fire, right, and then the guy behind
- 3:58Speaker 4: you comes in and puts out your fire if you
- 4:01Speaker 4: don't have it that day. Yeah, And I think that's
- 4:04Speaker 4: a big part of what Riz is getting at is
- 4:06Speaker 4: like the depth doesn't just mean locking down wins. It
- 4:09Speaker 4: means holding a two run deficit. Five Yeah, give us
- 4:15Speaker 4: a chance to score some runs. Because the best teams
- 4:17Speaker 4: I've been on, and we've we've been on those teams
- 4:19Speaker 4: that know how to come back. You never give up, right,
- 4:21Speaker 4: And that was one of our slogans, like we.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Never give up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's important.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Well and then MANI the best trade in Cups history
- 4:30Speaker 1: because you close out the World Series.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Well we'll get to that, but.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Super we thought we were getting a closure the deadline.
- 4:35Speaker 4: We just we thought it was a rale is but actually.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Right right, we get you right right around the All
- 4:42Speaker 1: Star Game early July and Moni comes over and does
- 4:48Speaker 1: this thing.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You're in the bullpen. You're kind of you made a
- 4:50Speaker 2: few starts too, right.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:51Speaker 6: I was in a weird spot because I was in
- 4:55Speaker 6: Seattle and I was like a starter leiever type and no,
- 5:00Speaker 6: you know, just out of the blue cub straight for you.
- 5:02Speaker 5: I'm like kind of like him. I was like, man,
- 5:05Speaker 5: kind of.
- 5:05Speaker 6: Disappointed at the first, but then I realized, like, these
- 5:09Speaker 6: guys are the best team in baseball. They traded for me.
- 5:13Speaker 6: I got to go and find, you know, do my thing,
- 5:15Speaker 6: find what role I'm going to have, right, So I
- 5:18Speaker 6: was like, I didn't know.
- 5:19Speaker 5: If I was going to be in the rotation.
- 5:21Speaker 6: They called me, they were like, hey, you're going to
- 5:22Speaker 6: be in our bullpen. We'll find a role for you.
- 5:24Speaker 6: So it took me a while to kind of jump
- 5:28Speaker 6: in and understand, Okay, am I going to be the
- 5:29Speaker 6: mop up guy?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Am I going to be laid in? And yeah?
- 5:33Speaker 6: So that was the hard part, but like you said,
- 5:37Speaker 6: the team we had was it didn't take long because
- 5:40Speaker 6: I just was able to fit in and be like, Okay,
- 5:42Speaker 6: here's where I'm gonna do and you know, here we go.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you could probably.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Relate to this because you manage just about seven how
- 5:49Speaker 1: much did Lester shrowed our bullpen coach at the time,
- 5:56Speaker 1: Chris Bosio, who probably you guys didn't interact with as
- 5:58Speaker 1: much as Leicester you did. And Joe helped with your
- 6:03Speaker 1: roles because it's not easy to be in a bullpen
- 6:06Speaker 1: roll unless you're the closer, the setup guy, right like,
- 6:10Speaker 1: because you guys are such hybrids. Tell me what you
- 6:14Speaker 1: liked about Joe. Tell me what you didn't like. I mean,
- 6:17Speaker 1: if there was things you didn't like.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, so first I'll say, let's show is one
- 6:23Speaker 3: of my favorite people in the world. Just having him
- 6:26Speaker 3: down there, like he knew when like we could cut up,
- 6:31Speaker 3: and then he knew when to tell everybody get locked in.
- 6:34Speaker 2: And he was funny. He was funny.
- 6:36Speaker 6: He had a good pulse on how to manage all
- 6:40Speaker 6: of us as a group and individually.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Absolutely, and then I interacted with Bozzio a lot. I
- 6:48Speaker 3: love the guy and he was just good at like
- 6:51Speaker 3: coming up to me and just kind of hey, like
- 6:54Speaker 3: I noticed this or that, like.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, let's let's throw this out and just do that.
- 6:58Speaker 2: There's no bullpen though that I've ever play with that
- 7:00Speaker 2: likes the manager.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You guys are always fucking pissed off and bitter because
- 7:04Speaker 1: you think you should.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Especially everybody, right, well, so that's that'ship. Like you really
- 7:11Speaker 3: got to drop the ego. There's no doubt I wanted
- 7:15Speaker 3: that eighth or ninth inning. Everybody sitting down there does right,
- 7:17Speaker 3: But like if everybody can embrace their role and do
- 7:21Speaker 3: it very well, it's going to pay.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Off when you guys are your own little world down there, right,
- 7:26Speaker 4: Like we didn't you know me personally, Like Lester took
- 7:30Speaker 4: care of you guys, but we didn't like interact with
- 7:32Speaker 4: Lester Shrove that much, you know, like just he took
- 7:36Speaker 4: care of you guys and had that bullpen on lockdown
- 7:39Speaker 4: down there. But to your point of like having not
- 7:43Speaker 4: knowing your role and sometimes doing that going back to
- 7:45Speaker 4: my managers, like you kind of get in and out
- 7:48Speaker 4: of that trust tree, right and you guys feel that
- 7:50Speaker 4: was like I may have a bad outing.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I really want to get back out there. The manager's like,
- 7:54Speaker 2: oh he didn't have the good stuff. I'm gonna get him.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I'm give him a couple of days, you know, just
- 7:58Speaker 4: to try to get on that. And that's a more
- 8:00Speaker 4: so it's just a confidence hit. And then you think
- 8:03Speaker 4: your manager don't have confidence in you when you're like,
- 8:05Speaker 4: I want to get back in the fight because I
- 8:07Speaker 4: had I didn't have my.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Best stuff the other day, you know, for whatever reason.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Yep, that's right.
- 8:12Speaker 2: That's hard. That's hard.
- 8:13Speaker 4: That's a hard I think it's the hardest role. It's
- 8:15Speaker 4: the shortest lived kind of tenure for guys. And and
- 8:19Speaker 4: uh and you got to go out there and be ready.
- 8:21Speaker 4: And you guys know as well being in the bullpen.
- 8:24Speaker 4: The one thing that we had, we had a lot
- 8:25Speaker 4: of healthy guys that posted. Guys posted, you know, they're
- 8:29Speaker 4: ready to go the back to backs. It didn't matter
- 8:31Speaker 4: three in a row, like you guys, And that's a
- 8:34Speaker 4: silences the horses, bro horses.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and Joe wasn't scared to go to you. Joe
- 8:38Speaker 1: wasn't scared to ride the ponies. Yeah, you know, And
- 8:40Speaker 1: that's why I love Joe.
- 8:41Speaker 2: He managed to.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Win every single game. And that's the lost for part.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Because sometimes teams will punt a little bit early. Maybe
- 8:48Speaker 1: we've punted a few times, maybe a few games that year,
- 8:51Speaker 1: but we're in it to win.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I want to know, MANI coming over from a team
- 8:56Speaker 4: to the best team where we were comfortable. What was
- 8:59Speaker 4: the vibe when you first walked in. Did you know
- 9:01Speaker 4: we were good? Did you feel a confidence about the group?
- 9:05Speaker 6: It was it was a kind of a hard transition
- 9:08Speaker 6: because I came from Seattle.
- 9:10Speaker 5: We were young.
- 9:11Speaker 6: You know, we had a couple of veterans, but it
- 9:13Speaker 6: was we were a titnque group. But it was like,
- 9:15Speaker 6: I come over, I didn't know what to expect. I
- 9:17Speaker 6: had no idea what you guys had going on, And honestly,
- 9:21Speaker 6: I was just in a I just want to try
- 9:24Speaker 6: to find a role fit in in the sense of, Okay,
- 9:27Speaker 6: how can I help the team.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Just so I don't get shipped out of here?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Right?
- 9:31Speaker 6: That's kind of like your mentality when you're young. And
- 9:34Speaker 6: I was saying with our bullpen, we had guys in
- 9:36Speaker 6: different stages of our careers where you had the stable
- 9:41Speaker 6: and guys, you know, Strophie and these guys that had
- 9:43Speaker 6: been there, Grim had been with the team for a while,
- 9:45Speaker 6: but then you had C. J.
- 9:47Speaker 5: Edwards me.
- 9:50Speaker 6: I know, rob Z had kind of been up and
- 9:51Speaker 6: down a little bit with us, so we're like new
- 9:53Speaker 6: guys on the block and we're kind of trying to
- 9:56Speaker 6: find our way.
- 9:56Speaker 5: With Joe, it was like you're saying, Joe, and you.
- 10:01Speaker 6: Have a good outing, you're probably gonna get called up
- 10:03Speaker 6: the next day, right, so you know, if you do well, you're.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Back in there the next day. And that was just
- 10:10Speaker 5: what I remember.
- 10:11Speaker 6: So if you guys had such when I first got there,
- 10:16Speaker 6: the first personality group and it was almost like a
- 10:21Speaker 6: larger than life person you know group that I just
- 10:26Speaker 6: was kind.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Of let me just go, let me just see what's happened.
- 10:30Speaker 6: I don't want to come in and throwing you know,
- 10:36Speaker 6: you and Lester and Lackey. It's like, Okay, I don't
- 10:40Speaker 6: want to be you know, talking, Let's just listen a
- 10:43Speaker 6: little bit and see where everyone's at, right.
- 10:45Speaker 4: And Gremmor you were here in some tough times, and
- 10:48Speaker 4: I've got to hear the stories of coming in and
- 10:51Speaker 4: uh winning pretty quickly, Like what changed in your vision
- 10:55Speaker 4: when you look back like we sucked and then going
- 10:59Speaker 4: into like oh this where the where are the dudes?
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 11:04Speaker 3: Well, I think one part of that question is we
- 11:08Speaker 3: we had guys like you, Lester, Lackey who.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Had done it before with you know, the Red Sox
- 11:14Speaker 2: and everything.
- 11:15Speaker 3: So y'all kind of understood and set that precedent, uh
- 11:20Speaker 3: going into fifteen, I believe yep. And then also, I
- 11:25Speaker 3: mean I think just when you just start winning, it
- 11:27Speaker 3: gets contagious and you.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Start to realize it as it's happening, and you're like, you.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Want to be a part of it. You want to
- 11:35Speaker 1: be a part of it. Tribute Yeah, yea yeah. Well
- 11:37Speaker 1: the thing too, with the thing too with Bullpens over
- 11:39Speaker 1: my career is like, dude, you guys are on islands.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Like you guys throw at your own time, you stretch
- 11:46Speaker 1: it your own time. The starters are on their own program.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But the starters are at least in the dugout with
- 11:50Speaker 1: feel like I can go if you if you want.
- 11:53Speaker 1: In the big leagues, you can go a month without
- 11:56Speaker 1: seeing a reliever, especially with the clubhouses today, how big
- 12:00Speaker 1: they are.
- 12:01Speaker 3: And that's one thing I loved about Joey's like show up,
- 12:04Speaker 3: get your work in, like I don't want to see
- 12:07Speaker 3: I used to hate and this is more of a
- 12:09Speaker 3: younger thing when I came up, Like Adrian Belcher was
- 12:13Speaker 3: my locker mate.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you had to get that probably eleven a m.
- 12:15Speaker 3: I had to if I didn't get to the field
- 12:17Speaker 3: before he got there, Like my locker was like throwing
- 12:20Speaker 3: to shit, and he's the old answer in the fo Yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 3: And so then I go shift into Joe and I'm like, man,
- 12:29Speaker 3: I hated getting there early and just sitting in my locker,
- 12:31Speaker 3: just fiddling, like I got nothing to do for three hours, you.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Know, so I'd like i'd get there, you know, just
- 12:38Speaker 2: get going. I love that.
- 12:40Speaker 4: What's the story you guys looking back and we'll talk
- 12:43Speaker 4: through all the cool contributions. But like when you tell
- 12:46Speaker 4: your friends stories about that team of your assd or
- 12:48Speaker 4: your favorite memory or moment or game, like what comes
- 12:52Speaker 4: to mind.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I go with the humble approach.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I'm like, man, I was just a part of a
- 12:58Speaker 3: really special group of people when I was just happy
- 13:01Speaker 3: to be there and then they all come.
- 13:02Speaker 4: On, you know, like, so I just kind of take
- 13:04Speaker 4: that protun you talk about road trips or bus trips
- 13:07Speaker 4: or story carefully.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, all the.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Stuff that happened outside of the field, like clubhouse bus trips,
- 13:17Speaker 6: you know, pregame rituals, speeches, like that's the stuff that
- 13:23Speaker 6: as a player is what separated I think us, because
- 13:26Speaker 6: I've never been on another team that did that.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Even you get traded over, bro, we're taking shot, we
- 13:30Speaker 1: sweep and take shots.
- 13:31Speaker 2: There's there's interesting going on.
- 13:39Speaker 5: That kind of stuff.
- 13:41Speaker 6: Having been on a lot of teams, you're like that,
- 13:44Speaker 6: we never did that, But you know, does that mean
- 13:47Speaker 6: that's why we were winning?
- 13:48Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 13:49Speaker 6: But you know, we just had the group of guys
- 13:50Speaker 6: I worked with. So it was that stuff that I
- 13:54Speaker 6: remember the most. And then but as far as like
- 13:58Speaker 6: playing wise, I I the biggest thing I remember is
- 14:02Speaker 6: I'm going into the game because I don't I don't
- 14:04Speaker 6: want to let you down, or you or you in
- 14:06Speaker 6: the bullpen. I'm kind of there for you guys. More
- 14:09Speaker 6: than I was to break the curse or what you know,
- 14:12Speaker 6: the winning. It was more just to not let you guys.
- 14:14Speaker 2: That's I mean, that's what this seems about, honest.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Because all the rituals we did on the field, all
- 14:19Speaker 1: the rituals we did off the field. We did take
- 14:22Speaker 1: shots before the games, we partied after the games, but
- 14:25Speaker 1: it was we did it together and it wasn't like
- 14:29Speaker 1: we enjoyed it right, And that's what made us us.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I say, we're like the.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Motley Crew, like we would just come in and reh havoc.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And without I've been saying this to everyone, like without
- 14:40Speaker 1: all the pieces to the puzzle, we don't win, right,
- 14:43Speaker 1: Like without you bridging the gap on a lot of
- 14:46Speaker 1: games that help us with the comebacks, or coming in
- 14:49Speaker 1: and putting out the fires, without you getting traded over
- 14:52Speaker 1: like you came in and the biggest, the most important
- 14:55Speaker 1: part of history.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Right, you are literally part of history forever, we all are.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But you're the last person that I'm jeous. Well you said, right,
- 15:02Speaker 2: he was sorry, you got them. You had no idea.
- 15:06Speaker 5: I didn't know you were going to be in that.
- 15:08Speaker 1: But as part of like looking back on it, you
- 15:13Speaker 1: were ready for that. And I feel like as as
- 15:17Speaker 1: being one of the guys on the team, like proud
- 15:18Speaker 1: because like bro, you came over and got traded and
- 15:21Speaker 1: like it's our job now to make you feel quickly
- 15:25Speaker 1: comfortable and like yourself. And that's what Joe always preached,
- 15:28Speaker 1: like be yourself. If you look hot, wear so when
- 15:31Speaker 1: guys come over, it's like, dude, fit in, you're here,
- 15:33Speaker 1: you go.
- 15:34Speaker 2: This is what we do. You said.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Last night we were talking and telling stories about just
- 15:38Speaker 4: the season you were like Russ had member Thoni. He
- 15:40Speaker 4: was like, I didn't want to let you down and
- 15:42Speaker 4: it was like that guy.
- 15:46Speaker 2: But I was.
- 15:47Speaker 4: But I think like part of that is like we
- 15:49Speaker 4: held each other to a high standard on that team, right,
- 15:52Speaker 4: and you're talking about Lack and you know lack lack,
- 15:55Speaker 4: so was I. But Lack was like an angry to
- 15:57Speaker 4: day he pitched right like angry. Else, Yeah we're angry and.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Don't talk to talk to you guys in the day.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Yeah they were playing, thank god only played once a month,
- 16:07Speaker 4: you know what I mean. It's like it was, but
- 16:10Speaker 4: that was part of that stuff he was talking about
- 16:12Speaker 4: bringing over and that expectation of being great and the
- 16:15Speaker 4: fact we were so close. I look back, like a
- 16:18Speaker 4: lot of guys said nice stuff about me and how
- 16:20Speaker 4: I got my reputation. It wasn't me talking about myself
- 16:22Speaker 4: on my teammates saying nice things about.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Like how who I was and how I treated them.
- 16:27Speaker 4: And when you look back on everything, like these stories
- 16:31Speaker 4: were telling, it's everybody come together as a family because
- 16:34Speaker 4: of all those cool culture and Joe created that because
- 16:36Speaker 4: of the freedom he.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Gave us shit And it's not about me.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Later on it's not about you later on in my career,
- 16:44Speaker 1: so now I'm gonna make it about me. I got
- 16:46Speaker 1: a very good compliment and I got ticked this from you.
- 16:49Speaker 1: The comblem was, I don't understand how you can literally
- 16:53Speaker 1: motherfuck someone right to their face and then when you're
- 16:56Speaker 1: done with the conversation, they're smiling and they feel good
- 16:58Speaker 1: about it, when.
- 16:59Speaker 2: You just buried him.
- 17:01Speaker 1: And that was literally to you, to its tea, how
- 17:05Speaker 1: you can portray and it was a leadership quality that
- 17:08Speaker 1: you had because it was like it wasn't like you
- 17:10Speaker 1: were actually baring something. You were just getting on someone
- 17:13Speaker 1: for the truth out of love, and you would bury
- 17:16Speaker 1: him by doing it, but then you'd walk away feel
- 17:18Speaker 1: good about it. And I like, there'd be times where
- 17:20Speaker 1: I walk away I'm like wait what.
- 17:23Speaker 4: But I felt like, yes, that was me. But I
- 17:27Speaker 4: also gave the most love. I feel like on the team.
- 17:29Speaker 4: When guys, I watched the game.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you watched fucking one hundred and forty games from.
- 17:34Speaker 2: The bench, I always called myself on my team.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Everybody's like what I was like, you're the back of characters.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Like actually, I was just the best cheerleader on the team.
- 17:41Speaker 4: I sat there and just clapped and watched Miggy, you know,
- 17:44Speaker 4: caught Lester every once in a while, like to say, babysit,
- 17:46Speaker 4: you know, babysit Lester for seven innings and if he's stunked.
- 17:50Speaker 2: They took me out of the game too. I'm like,
- 17:52Speaker 2: wait a minute, I want my bats. You know, I
- 17:55Speaker 2: wouldn't not my fault.
- 17:56Speaker 4: But that culture that was created and those expectations is
- 18:00Speaker 4: I think what made us all good. Everybody was trying
- 18:03Speaker 4: to lift each other up and playing for one another,
- 18:04Speaker 4: and those are the best teams I've been onto.
- 18:06Speaker 1: The bullpen is the most important starting pitching bullpen, right

- 19:57Speaker 2: Thank you. Seat Geek.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Took advantage of the Giants. They had a weak bullpen
- 20:02Speaker 1: that year and that was kind of their achilles. We
- 20:04Speaker 1: move on, but let's get to the World Series in
- 20:07Speaker 1: that mentality, because the bullpen was in disarray, right, Joe
- 20:11Speaker 1: was going to like two guys for the most part,
- 20:14Speaker 1: it was it was chappy.
- 20:17Speaker 2: It was chappy, and it was chappy. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And your guys' roles were so from what we did
- 20:26Speaker 1: in the season, yeah, so sporadic. You had no idea
- 20:29Speaker 1: how do you guys stay locked in in the World
- 20:31Speaker 1: Series to be your very best?
- 20:34Speaker 4: Well, you came in, you came in bases low with
- 20:37Speaker 4: Game three, game one out.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Well, I felt like a month we hadn't seen you.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I know.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I came in first and second, uh KB bobbled it
- 20:47Speaker 3: like he always makes the play, bobbles it.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Now I got based loaded one out, Mike had been warm,
- 20:56Speaker 2: Davis k hit a gerbel. I understand this, right, We're
- 20:58Speaker 2: going to throw them a ball.
- 21:00Speaker 3: But then it was like, well, now I got Lindor
- 21:03Speaker 3: and I honestly, there was a point I was out there.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I was like, Mike's got.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Lindor, and then I I don't maybe I recall I'm
- 21:12Speaker 3: pretty sure I stepped off the mound for a second.
- 21:14Speaker 2: It was like, hold on, here we go, like locked
- 21:17Speaker 2: it back in.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and through six straight curveballs, I'm shaking to the curve.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Ball, the nastiest curveball on the team. Yeah, two years
- 21:26Speaker 2: I was there and appreciate it. Really, I'm shaking and.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Catch Call's time looks over and it was like he
- 21:34Speaker 3: goes like that, and I was like, well, ship, here
- 21:37Speaker 3: we go. I'm either going to walk him in or
- 21:40Speaker 3: something's got to happen. So I remember telling myself, don't
- 21:43Speaker 3: make it nasty, just throw it and it ended up
- 21:46Speaker 3: working in I remember.
- 21:47Speaker 2: That your emotion, we're right there, you're here, I'm here.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I have the emotion of that.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And just because we've been together now for three four years, like, yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I know your wife, like I know you.
- 22:01Speaker 2: So got working well, we fought, we got along, sit Yeah,
- 22:05Speaker 2: you were a staple.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And it's like that emotion seeing you do that and
- 22:08Speaker 1: like reliving that and watching it ten years later is like, dude,
- 22:12Speaker 1: that was fucking awesome.
- 22:13Speaker 2: What a moment.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I just remember my body like it literally had electricity
- 22:18Speaker 3: going through it, Like I was just tingling my whole body,
- 22:21Speaker 3: like you know.
- 22:22Speaker 2: And Mike, you threw what five out of the seven games?
- 22:25Speaker 6: Well, I was going to say in that moment, it
- 22:28Speaker 6: was a relief when you did that, because they had
- 22:29Speaker 6: called down and said you're in if he doesn't the
- 22:32Speaker 6: next batter, so it was either a double play even
- 22:34Speaker 6: if you struck him out, I probably would have been
- 22:36Speaker 6: in there.
- 22:36Speaker 2: So that was like.
- 22:39Speaker 6: Like the weight it was lifted off me because coming
- 22:41Speaker 6: in bases loaded situation, there's there's can fill your feet
- 22:46Speaker 6: when in those moments you're like, oh, that's confident, but
- 22:49Speaker 6: you're also like so scared.
- 22:51Speaker 1: My body there's so much that goes into the bullpen
- 22:54Speaker 1: that no average fan, even if you're such a fan
- 22:58Speaker 1: of the game, you have no idea what these guys
- 23:00Speaker 1: go through every day.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I mean, we get it. We're we've got to I've
- 23:03Speaker 2: got a zero E r A. Yeah, well it's not
- 23:06Speaker 2: about striking.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But in the World when in the World Series, when
- 23:16Speaker 1: when Joe Joe was going to his guys, right, it
- 23:21Speaker 1: was pretty much Chappie.
- 23:22Speaker 4: And well before we got Chappy, it was ron Don
- 23:26Speaker 4: Strophy the playoffs andj.
- 23:33Speaker 1: In the playoffs, I was just like, you were the
- 23:35Speaker 1: left Hey can I take the playoff roster?
- 23:37Speaker 2: Right? I didn't.
- 23:40Speaker 5: I'm like, hey, can I just be on the playoff rosser?
- 23:42Speaker 5: To just be there?
- 23:44Speaker 6: And I think it was just I kind of started
- 23:47Speaker 6: getting people out and Joe just kept saying that many
- 23:50Speaker 6: you're in and it just kind of I think the
- 23:53Speaker 6: way the game shaped in the playoffs that year and
- 23:55Speaker 6: especially the World Series. And it was more of the
- 23:58Speaker 6: matchups too, because you know, he was alway is about, Okay,
- 24:01Speaker 6: here's your batters that we want you to face because
- 24:03Speaker 6: this guy can't hit a certain pass.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Is Joe telling you guys that is that Lester.
- 24:07Speaker 6: I think it's I mean Bosio did a lot of that, Yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 6: and then like did a lot of that, and I
- 24:15Speaker 6: know Tommy was involved in that a lot. So it
- 24:17Speaker 6: was kind of like in all those pitchers meetings, it
- 24:20Speaker 6: was like if we would have played a different team
- 24:23Speaker 6: that had different style hitters, it could.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Have been him on the mountain in the last out.
- 24:27Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:27Speaker 5: I think it was just like four or five hitters.
- 24:29Speaker 6: In the Cleveland line out that he had left handed
- 24:32Speaker 6: kurrballs or like weren't as good at you know whatever
- 24:35Speaker 6: I threw sinker or change up well, you know that combination.
- 24:38Speaker 5: So that was just it was just all a matchup.
- 24:43Speaker 5: And I mean I didn't go to bed.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Till like five am every night in the playoffs and
- 24:47Speaker 6: night it was starting to get light.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Out and I'm like, okay, I gotta get again.
- 24:51Speaker 6: But there was just so much adrenaline because you don't
- 24:55Speaker 6: know if then that night you're going to be out
- 24:57Speaker 6: there to give it up to get the out. Like
- 25:00Speaker 6: the adrenaline spike at NPM is going to be the
- 25:03Speaker 6: highest of your life. Yeah, and that's something that I remember.
- 25:08Speaker 6: I Mean, it took a lot a lot of time
- 25:11Speaker 6: to like calm down.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Neutrafoil is a number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement

- 25:43Speaker 2: spell it.
- 25:43Speaker 1: We're doing a hair product ad and you have a
- 25:45Speaker 1: hat on, so why don't you share the viewers?
- 25:47Speaker 2: I got a hat on because I need some neutrafil
- 25:49Speaker 2: in my life. Think about how much better your hair
- 25:51Speaker 2: is going to look after taking neutrapol. Think about how
- 25:53Speaker 2: much more money I would make about your flow. Well,
- 25:56Speaker 2: my hairs sound look better, thinks Neutripil. Oh man, so jealous.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Let's jump into that because like obviously the biggest out,
- 26:06Speaker 4: the final out of the World Series. Right, you're you're
- 26:09Speaker 4: down there in the bullpen warming up. You pitched the
- 26:12Speaker 4: night before with multiple innings. Yeah, so like you're and
- 26:17Speaker 4: we've got everybody down there Arietta. Woody had led us
- 26:21Speaker 4: and appearances in that playoff that playoffs, right, so like
- 26:23Speaker 4: what he's a big part and your numbers called.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Well, where are you guys at before like with the
- 26:28Speaker 1: Rangel the speech, because you guys were both in the
- 26:32Speaker 1: come in.
- 26:34Speaker 5: You came in.
- 26:34Speaker 6: I stayed out there with Jake and I believe I
- 26:39Speaker 6: think it was me Jake and maybe Noble.
- 26:42Speaker 5: I'm not sure, but we kind of we came in late.
- 26:45Speaker 6: And I remember coming in to Chapman tearing up and
- 26:49Speaker 6: I was like, ho ship, what did I just walk?
- 26:51Speaker 5: You know?
- 26:52Speaker 6: And guys are like around him. I'm like, this is
- 26:54Speaker 6: our guy. He's being emotional and John and you guys,
- 26:58Speaker 6: I don't know who it was, but and it was
- 27:00Speaker 6: just kind of like a surreal moment, and it just
- 27:04Speaker 6: was quick because by that time it was like Okay,
- 27:06Speaker 6: five minutes later.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going, we're going. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 6: And I remember going out with CJ and going, hey, CJ,
- 27:13Speaker 6: it could come down to one of.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Us and ready and came through and tell him.
- 27:20Speaker 1: When Joe told him, I was surprised because like he walked,
- 27:23Speaker 1: he had two outs and he walked the guy and
- 27:24Speaker 1: I was like, all right, yeah, he.
- 27:27Speaker 6: Took second just for free or whatever, and then it
- 27:30Speaker 6: was a base hit but.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Got another hit. I remember, do you.
- 27:33Speaker 6: Remember that moment like before I went in like the
- 27:37Speaker 6: last out. I remember from my perspective, it was I'd
- 27:42Speaker 6: never seen guys like Lester or I mean, Lackie was
- 27:45Speaker 6: down there, Areata you, a few other Stroke and Rondeau
- 27:50Speaker 6: and they I'll never forget the look they all looked
- 27:53Speaker 6: at me as like please, Mike, please do this, and
- 27:57Speaker 6: it was just like, yeah, I was kind of like nervous.
- 28:00Speaker 6: You know, the cameras are on you as you're going.
- 28:02Speaker 6: It's like twenty stairs, you gotta go down in Cleveland.
- 28:04Speaker 6: But seeing those guys's face faces was like I'm doing
- 28:10Speaker 6: it for them, Like I lost any sense of where
- 28:13Speaker 6: I was in the moment, and I was like these
- 28:16Speaker 6: guys that I've been with and had that bond with
- 28:19Speaker 6: over the last few months, unlike any other team I've
- 28:22Speaker 6: been on, I can't mess it up or I'm gonna
- 28:25Speaker 6: do what I can took for them. And that was
- 28:27Speaker 6: why I always feel that way of coming to that
- 28:29Speaker 6: moment was it was more seeing you know, Lackey and
- 28:34Speaker 6: Grim and less our Arieta's face and doing it okay
- 28:39Speaker 6: for them.
- 28:40Speaker 2: What do you remember about the range leers.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Well, so it couldn't happened at a better time because
- 28:44Speaker 3: obviously the momentum swinging their way, and it was the
- 28:48Speaker 3: crowd was electric, and hit happened. My heart, My heart sunk.
- 28:54Speaker 3: I was like, oh no, like here we go, you know,
- 28:58Speaker 3: but not a lot of people know this. Me and
- 29:01Speaker 3: Strope were warming up while you were pitching the Raja Davis.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Oh woman up, Poppy, it is over.
- 29:08Speaker 1: If the hit that was like Martinez, you're talking about Martinez,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I'll tell you what down. When Joe called down, I
- 29:19Speaker 1: was like Moni's coming in. I was like, why the
- 29:21Speaker 1: fuck you cj out?
- 29:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And but well.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Then I was like in Trophy was in my mind
- 29:26Speaker 4: from a catcher standpoint, he just didn't know where it
- 29:29Speaker 4: was going after the chap It's all master and it.
- 29:31Speaker 6: Wasn't like a left right like Martinez, a switch hitter.
- 29:34Speaker 4: So yeah, and at that time when they pinch hit
- 29:37Speaker 4: Martinez for Coco cris three three.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Before if it was Coco cris I, he was the hardest,
- 29:43Speaker 6: the best against lefties, So there's no chance I would
- 29:46Speaker 6: have been in it was him, but because it was
- 29:48Speaker 6: Martinez and they had said he had not hit a
- 29:51Speaker 6: left handed curveball all season.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, bro, you didn't have one hit landing.
- 29:55Speaker 4: And that's what I just don't like, I want people
- 29:57Speaker 4: to grasp, is you're young, in your first World Series.
- 30:04Speaker 4: You're going with two outs, a fast down first. Right
- 30:09Speaker 4: before you came in, I was like, well, Rogers fix
- 30:11Speaker 4: is still off c J. He's not quick to the
- 30:12Speaker 4: plate and he's a second and now we're now here
- 30:15Speaker 4: we go again. And you came in and I was like, well,
- 30:17Speaker 4: at least we've got a left a lefty stare at.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Maybe it won't go first move. And then you landed,
- 30:23Speaker 4: breaking ball, strike swallowed, And I'm like, that's impressive. And
- 30:28Speaker 4: then you know, because just that right, just branding that.
- 30:30Speaker 1: First one with all the seven of the World Series,
- 30:33Speaker 1: like everything's on the line, flipping a break, winning you
- 30:36Speaker 1: had a good break in Baltimore.
- 30:37Speaker 2: We win champs, I know, and you do it again.
- 30:40Speaker 6: And it's kind of ironic because to let's see, three
- 30:45Speaker 6: years before, two years before I'd set the International League
- 30:49Speaker 6: I was in Durham Triple A, the record for wild pitches,
- 31:00Speaker 6: like everything, twelve of them came to curve balls, like
- 31:02Speaker 6: I didn't throw a curveball until I signed. Like I
- 31:04Speaker 6: was not a good curveball guy up until a few
- 31:07Speaker 6: months leading into that. I was more of like a
- 31:10Speaker 6: pitchability change up, you know, mix up speed, whatever. And
- 31:14Speaker 6: you know, my Dad's like, it took twenty seven years
- 31:17Speaker 6: for you to be to land one curveball, right, and
- 31:20Speaker 6: that was kind of And I did it twice and
- 31:24Speaker 6: it was like it wasn't even like I don't know,
- 31:27Speaker 6: you know, it's one of those divine intervention moments where
- 31:31Speaker 6: it's like I probably couldn't have done it. And two
- 31:35Speaker 6: years before I couldn't throw a curveball, Like I sucked
- 31:39Speaker 6: at throwing a curveball, and it was like, how did
- 31:42Speaker 6: I end up to? You know, going into that season,
- 31:45Speaker 6: the Mariners were like, you're not going to make our team.
- 31:49Speaker 5: Japan had offered me. I was like considering going there.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Five six months later, I'm on the mountain in the
- 31:55Speaker 6: World Series in Game seven.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Right, and I land all I had to do.
- 31:59Speaker 6: And even warming up for that game, you asked Chad
- 32:02Speaker 6: I was spiking him.
- 32:05Speaker 2: I was.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I came two balls, went to the visiting I was
- 32:11Speaker 3: like Okay, here we go.
- 32:14Speaker 2: It's like a good BP. Think good BP. You're like,
- 32:16Speaker 2: you're worried about your game, you have a bad bullpen.
- 32:18Speaker 2: You're like, I'm locked in out there.
- 32:20Speaker 5: And but that's what I mean.
- 32:21Speaker 6: It was just it was meant to be because I
- 32:24Speaker 6: go in there, and let's be honest, if I give
- 32:27Speaker 6: it up, City of.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Chicago, we're not sitting here.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Yeah we're not.
- 32:32Speaker 2: We're not.
- 32:33Speaker 4: No, if we give it, I let like seven runs in.
- 32:40Speaker 2: The stand. Yeah, yeah, I didn't block one two runs
- 32:43Speaker 2: come in. When in that ninth inning I had.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I was so fucking nervous at first base, like it's
- 32:48Speaker 1: freezing out, it's even colders in there. I put so
- 32:51Speaker 1: much pine tar on my glove. And when when Martinez
- 32:54Speaker 1: hit that ball off you, I'm like, fuck, that's my
- 32:58Speaker 1: because I thought he was a lot faster we had
- 33:00Speaker 1: seen him in the series.
- 33:02Speaker 3: When it fell like a chopper, I was going to
- 33:06Speaker 3: be like, what's going through your mind?
- 33:07Speaker 2: Is the ball's coming to you? Like, don't miss.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I'm playing far off the back, so I'm head down
- 33:12Speaker 1: sprinting and I look up to KB and he has
- 33:15Speaker 1: it with his little smirk on his face, and he
- 33:17Speaker 1: kind of sails it and slips.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I'm like, whoa fuck. So I go up and I'm like,
- 33:22Speaker 2: please catch this.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I'm so scared because you know, in those moments,
- 33:27Speaker 1: any mistake is like any life changing as much as
- 33:31Speaker 1: winning is life changing. Like any little mistake in that
- 33:34Speaker 1: big moment, you're like forever it hit like it's bad
- 33:37Speaker 1: history in Chicago up until this point.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Yeah, so that but we catch that ball, bro.
- 33:42Speaker 1: The fucking celebration like coming and jumping on you, like
- 33:46Speaker 1: the brotherhood and all of it was just what do
- 33:49Speaker 1: you remember about that?
- 33:49Speaker 2: The celebration, the relief, the parade, Like.
- 33:54Speaker 6: I remember, I mean, like you say, it's it's a blur,
- 33:59Speaker 6: but yeah, and I see pictures and I just remember
- 34:03Speaker 6: the sense of relief of like just rushing through you
- 34:08Speaker 6: the same way the adrenaline, did you know, going into
- 34:11Speaker 6: the moment when the sense of relief was even more
- 34:14Speaker 6: than the adrenaline and being in the middle of the
- 34:17Speaker 6: dog pile and seeing that picture.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Now, oh, it's incredible.
- 34:21Speaker 6: It's you know, it was my first big year in
- 34:24Speaker 6: the big leagues, first full year in the big leagues,
- 34:27Speaker 6: and I was down and out going into the season
- 34:31Speaker 6: and then here I am on the mound to end
- 34:33Speaker 6: Game seven, in the middle of the dog pile, and
- 34:36Speaker 6: it was it was a lot of like just sense
- 34:39Speaker 6: of Okay, finally, you know, I wasn't thinking, but now
- 34:43Speaker 6: looking back in that moment, it was like like, fuck, yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 6: I did it for everyone else. Everyone's happy, but for me,
- 34:49Speaker 6: looking at yourself, I did it for myself, Like how
- 34:52Speaker 6: many people have shitting me out? No one even knew
- 34:55Speaker 6: about me ever. Being the Cubs was like, okay, I'm
- 34:58Speaker 6: the mop up guy. But to go in there and
- 35:01Speaker 6: do that, like it just gave me a sense of like, Okay,
- 35:05Speaker 6: I did it, you know, like.
- 35:07Speaker 2: What about you? She's just running in. I mean, even
- 35:10Speaker 2: if you pop the hamstring running in, you wouldn't have
- 35:13Speaker 2: felt it. You just be like whatever, here we go.
- 35:15Speaker 3: But yeah, no, It's just a lot of excitement, relief
- 35:18Speaker 3: and just enjoyed the moment, the beauty, if her hand
- 35:22Speaker 3: was there.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Everything was all these stories.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Hearing all these stories is like each guy was going
- 35:26Speaker 1: through their own journey, like, yeah, you're you're telling this
- 35:29Speaker 1: story about the curveball, Like, dude, if I knew that,
- 35:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't even my pants even more. Your journey as
- 35:37Speaker 1: I started getting pissed off and.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Getting traded and then where it ended up.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, and it's the first two years. Hey man,
- 35:43Speaker 3: I think training as a story. I remember, he goes, Yeah, no,
- 35:47Speaker 3: that's that's great. He goes, but we're going to need you.
- 35:50Speaker 3: You were He goes, I got six starters and five spots.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I said, I'm paying six starters and I got five spots.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I was like, all right, the team me and not
- 36:00Speaker 1: going to Rossie and I had going into the playoffs right.
- 36:04Speaker 1: We we were winning the World Series, going with the
- 36:06Speaker 1: playoffs right, and in our playoff share meeting, we gave
- 36:11Speaker 1: out an insane amount of playoff share.
- 36:12Speaker 2: It was a record up to that point. I asked it,
- 36:14Speaker 2: but I think we got with most shares.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Did y'all not mess like so like Tim Buss brought up,
- 36:20Speaker 3: but y'all were messing with Rizzo and like we were
- 36:24Speaker 3: just going through players shares like ah, like you know
- 36:26Speaker 3: Tim Buss, what like quarter and was like, what.
- 36:30Speaker 2: This guy's been with us? He got high. I fought
- 36:33Speaker 2: from my guys down.
- 36:37Speaker 4: That was most his heart generosity came out those meetings.
- 36:40Speaker 4: He was fighting for everybody.
- 36:41Speaker 2: It's good.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Rossie and I had this master plan though, because we
- 36:44Speaker 1: were so close of He's catching on playing first, the
- 36:48Speaker 1: likelihood of us catching these balls to move on or high.
- 36:51Speaker 2: So I caught the DS ball to.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Send us to the CS, the CS ball to send
- 36:58Speaker 1: us to the World Series, and we were like, bro,
- 36:59Speaker 1: we get the trifecta, like this should be worth a lot.
- 37:03Speaker 1: So I get the World Series. I throw it in
- 37:05Speaker 1: the pocket and the rest history but later on that
- 37:09Speaker 1: or just yeah, but are you kidding me?
- 37:11Speaker 2: You know much of in my head?
- 37:13Speaker 1: I'm like not much, just and eight years of like
- 37:16Speaker 1: misery coming to an end, and this is it.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I know, this is my extension waiting for it.
- 37:22Speaker 5: And that was my first saying I know.
- 37:24Speaker 2: So.
- 37:24Speaker 1: So Mike comes up to me, like at some point
- 37:27Speaker 1: during this celebration, like I have this ball like security guarded,
- 37:31Speaker 1: like I have our head security with it. Get it
- 37:34Speaker 1: authenticated right then and there, get it back like you
- 37:37Speaker 1: do not touch this ball right, don't want Champagne on it.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And Mike comes over to me is, hey, Ri is
- 37:43Speaker 2: like you think I can get that ball?
- 37:47Speaker 1: That was my first That was my first ever save
- 37:50Speaker 1: in like any part of my career, Like it was
- 37:52Speaker 1: just mean a lot like my first save ever, and
- 37:54Speaker 1: I'm just like, yeah, fucking right, dude, I laughed the
- 38:00Speaker 1: old body or body. Eventually I ended up giving the
- 38:03Speaker 1: ball back to mister Rickets. Everyone asked me, which you
- 38:05Speaker 1: have to, but it was just like the emotions of
- 38:09Speaker 1: all of it, and well.
- 38:10Speaker 5: The amount of people that asked me like, hey, did
- 38:12Speaker 5: you get that ball?
- 38:13Speaker 6: Ba if it was a game number ninety four of
- 38:16Speaker 6: the regular season.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you get it right away?
- 38:19Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, sure, And so that's everyone asked, like the
- 38:23Speaker 6: number two question besides like how was it?
- 38:25Speaker 5: Say?
- 38:25Speaker 6: It was like did you get the ball? Where's the
- 38:26Speaker 6: ball from your first save? And I was like, well,
- 38:30Speaker 6: you saw Rizzo put it in his pocket, and you know,
- 38:33Speaker 6: I think you did it right though, Like it belongs
- 38:36Speaker 6: in Cooper's Town, which is probably where it is.
- 38:39Speaker 2: So I'll probably here.
- 38:40Speaker 4: I caught the last out in Red Sox and I
- 38:44Speaker 4: kept the ball. No ever, nobody asked me for it.
- 38:46Speaker 4: And then I had it from remember when Kogi came here. Yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 4: I had found out in my time away from that
- 38:54Speaker 4: he had every ball from every save except that one.
- 38:57Speaker 4: He never I don't even think he knew what the
- 38:59Speaker 4: ball was, so I brought it to him here especial.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so he's got that now somewhere in his case.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I think, Wow, it's crazy because we've talked about how
- 39:09Speaker 1: the puzzle on our team, like without every single guy
- 39:13Speaker 1: and every character in every role, we don't win.
- 39:16Speaker 2: And the story really isn't complete without.
- 39:20Speaker 1: You, guys the bullpen and like you at the end
- 39:23Speaker 1: coming in and broke, like no one had that on
- 39:26Speaker 1: their card, you closing out games somebody, but you.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Will forever be a part of the hype video.
- 39:31Speaker 1: No, we all rose, but you were ready. You were ready,
- 39:34Speaker 1: and that's testament to our team. It's testament out close
- 39:37Speaker 1: to where and it's the reason we're sitting here ten
- 39:40Speaker 1: years later, reminiscently.
- 39:42Speaker 2: So we appreciate you guys, Love you guys. Yeah, thanks
- 39:46Speaker 2: for your time too. This is amazing. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 39:48Speaker 6: This is it's fun to talk about because, like you said,
- 39:50Speaker 6: there's stories that you don't.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Know about, but we're getting all yeah right.
- 39:55Speaker 6: I'm getting all the stories and it's fun.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Cheers to another ten years.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, do it right?
- 40:01Speaker 2: All right, boys, thank you. That was a great, good one.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Young
