- 0:22Speaker 1: hey, welcome back.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's the, the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:25Speaker 1: It's not Monday, but it's just another football Monday.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Right here we're going to react to week one and maybe a little look ahead at Florida State's battle tomorrow night.
- 0:38Speaker 1: But yeah, we'll get into that later.
- 0:42Speaker 1: But let's, let's stick to the games that just took place.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Week one in the books and you know, we got miami contributor justin on the line and the?
- 0:55Speaker 1: U is back oh, c-a-n-e-s kate well, they were back yesterday.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Best team in the ACC.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair and I would say, like, roster-wise, if you looked at it on paper, that would be fair even before they played the game.
- 1:12Speaker 1: But they showed up and they did what they should have done and maybe a little more.
- 1:20Speaker 1: With the 41-17 win, miami just really dominated the whole way through.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Every aspect of the game they dominated.
- 1:30Speaker 3: They dominated the offensive line of scrimmage, the defensive line of scrimmage.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that was an absolute win.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I mean even our crappy-ass secondary played well.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Well, I was just going to ask you if you had, right off the top, if one thing, what impressed you the most?
- 1:47Speaker 3: The offensive line.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Oh, you're so lame, dude.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Cam Ward could have literally read War and Peace three times while dropping back in the pocket.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, the offensive line was so impressive and, yes, cam Ward was impressive.
- 2:04Speaker 1: The defense impressed me.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, reuben Bain got hurt in the first series and the defensive line still dominated.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Secondary impressed me.
- 2:13Speaker 1: They only gave up one play.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Pretty much a stretch to the running back there for Florida.
- 2:22Speaker 3: One busted play, and that was it.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And other than that, it was a dominating performance 529 total yards for Miami to 261 for Florida.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It could have had more Cam.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Ward made a 385-yard passing debut, the most 144 on the ground, 7.7 yards per play.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean what I saw yesterday.
- 2:49Speaker 3: You just can't stop that team.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you did that, they, they, yeah, that was.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That was an ass whooping man, it's just.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I mean either.
- 2:57Speaker 2: The Gators are terrible or, and I mean like dumpster fire terrible.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Because I fell for this crap like 10 years ago.
- 3:08Speaker 1: How many games have they opened the season as a winner?
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know that streak was still active and you know there's still to go into the swamp Right In that kind of environment and do it.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You have to be a good team.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not nothing.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Right, it's not.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I mean javon curse was leading the two bits chant to start the game now, that's fair was on the sideline, I mean you want to, you want to they came prepared yes, the gators came prepared and got their freaking ass.
- 3:38Speaker 2: That was yeah, there was no question about it that's probably the game that just I mean.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's, he's done, he's not gonna last yeah he's done navier is fired because that's the kind of game he would have had to have won with that kind of schedule well, what like?
- 3:56Speaker 1: But really well, not really, because I would say just miami that miami looks like a definite top 10 team, maybe top five if you look at talent.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Just losing to them, wouldn't?
- 4:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:12Speaker 2: It's hard to say.
- 4:14Speaker 3: The fashion in which they lost.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Yeah, let's say they go on to win the national title.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm not trying to put any hex out there, I'm just saying oh, don't you put that juju on me, Ricky.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Bobby, any any hex out there.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm just saying oh, don't you put that juju on me, ricky bobby.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Like like florida fans would still be pissed to get embarrassed like that even if it was like say you know, they still get pissed anytime.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Georgia embarrasses them because, it's.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's an in-state rival.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So like, even if you're gonna lose billy, like don't do that, have the team at least prepared, don't get your ass hit Even if you're overmatched.
- 4:47Speaker 1: That was just bad.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Cam Ward was really incredible.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It was a really good start.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Booger McFarlane said it's going to be the first on his Heisman trail.
- 5:00Speaker 3: If he plays like that all season.
- 5:01Speaker 1: he'll definitely win If they win and he keeps playing good and putting up numbers.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Why not?
- 5:07Speaker 3: No, because Travis Hunter is the best college football player I've ever seen.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well, travis Hunter is getting hurt, he's going to get hurt because he plays too much?
- 5:13Speaker 3: No, he's not because he's a monster.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Travis Hunter is the man.
- 5:16Speaker 3: You shut your whore mouth when you're talking to me It'll shift over to Shador.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Well, you still had.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Well, restrepo, still seven led the team because he's the veteran.
- 5:30Speaker 3: He's going to get along with any quarterback.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Oh, he had seven for 112 and a touchdown, but Cam Ward got the ball to different receivers.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It was a lot like Jordan Travis did last year for the florida state just spread the ball around um, except instead of I mean he has different style, they're different physical players.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They actually went into the swamp that that that's what it was like.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Well, this were florida state.
- 5:59Speaker 1: That was the difference.
- 6:00Speaker 1: When we went into the swamp, I think the defense shut florida down, but that was an all-time defense.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But then you weren't able to score on their offense, like the Canes were, because of the quarterback position.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And that's what impressed me the most is the quarterback man.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I mean, you're waiting.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I mean he made a couple throws across his body and you don't want to see that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah whatever he looks like the real deal.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It comes down to the like, the kids, the kids at quarterback.
- 6:31Speaker 2: They either have it between the ears or they don't.
- 6:34Speaker 2: You look at cam ward.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Obviously got it.
- 6:37Speaker 3: You look at dj cam ward got some.
- 6:39Speaker 3: He's got some brett farve in him, yeah yeah, kids, they can slow that throwing across his body and just kind of like freewheeling crap that's going to piss me off at some point during this season I mean austin was over here with me, uh watching the game and I was yelling and screaming about the throwing across your body crap in the first quarter yeah, yeah, that were.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I mean that's great if you were to say, like if you were to say this is all, we're going to be kids just do it about kids.
- 7:07Speaker 2: that that's great.
- 7:07Speaker 2: If you were to say this is all we're going to be upset about, that's what they do.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Now, though, they watch Pat Mahomes do that shit.
- 7:12Speaker 2: That's just part of their game.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And he did it with the confidence, knowing that I'm going to score at will against these guys.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So I'll do whatever I want.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I'm going to score at will against these guys.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So I would do whatever I want.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And to continue my, uh, my, thread of hating on Mario Cristobal.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Um, why was Cam Ward in the game at the end of?
- 7:36Speaker 3: The fourth quarter.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Oh, well, because why, why?
- 7:40Speaker 3: why do we still not know how to take a knee?
- 7:42Speaker 2: We don't, he just, you just keep going no, no, no, yeah, I mean I get it, man, but put a different quarterback out, put Poffenbarger out there to do it Poffenbarger.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go, let him get the reps or my boy Ryan.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Williams.
- 7:53Speaker 1: What they should have done was like have someone come and get him so that way you're not like showing them up, you're actually trying to like you know so you still have them in the locker room because a guy?
- 8:08Speaker 2: because a guy might be pissed and he might not want to do it no, you let the fans give him a round of applause as you're bringing him out again.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But man, like every coach in america after seeing what happened when you lose your star quarterback, like I, I I just bring them out when the game is secure and in the bag it's just risky man risky Because that's like you said.
- 8:32Speaker 2: He plays like that.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He's going to be sitting in New York with a really good chance of winning.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 8:37Speaker 3: How can you not take a knee when the game?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Is decided oh yeah yeah, yeah, after what happened last year yeah exactly, most famous not taking a knee ever, and it's gonna bite us in the ass, our talent, like I've been saying on this podcast I do understand where mario's coming from, like as a, as a for him being a former miami player, you know you're playing the Gators Like I'm going to score as many times as.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I fucking can Put up 70.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:10Speaker 2: But put the backup in, man.
- 9:12Speaker 1: No, you don't do it when you don't, because there was no chance they had to lose a game.
- 9:16Speaker 1: There was still a chance that what happened happened last year.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's why you do it in that time.
- 9:21Speaker 1: It's not rocket science.
- 9:22Speaker 1: You can have that philosophy every single time, unless we're only up by one possession.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah, then we're gonna take a knee we're gonna take a knee because we're not gonna have that philosophy come back to bite us in the butt above all else.
- 9:38Speaker 3: That's all you got to have me when the game's in control yeah that's fine for the love of christ, it's not that complicated.
- 9:44Speaker 2: They did man.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Miami looks legit.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Miami looks really impressive.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They're going to be favored in every game they play.
- 9:52Speaker 3: The only thing that's going to bite Miami this season is Mario Cristobal's in-game coaching.
- 9:58Speaker 3: This team is sick, loaded with talent, like I've been saying for three years on this podcast since we hired Mario Cristobal.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Once Cristobal gets the talent that can overcome his stupid ass, coaching is when Miami is back.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And, from what I saw yesterday, that's where we are Well, the schedule too, I mean, and the fact that this schedule doesn't hurt you could.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You're you can afford to lose a game and you might not.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So, um, things are looking good for miami uh right, I mean, and this just shows you how quick you can turn it around in today's football it's not.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you look at that schedule like it's not.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Find me a loss on that schedule, even though it is find me a loss on that schedule, but find me multiple losses.
- 10:48Speaker 2: That's going to keep Miami out of the playoff.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Outside of Florida State, and not because Florida State looked good, but just because it's Miami-Florida State.
- 10:57Speaker 3: That game always terrifies me.
- 10:59Speaker 3: We'll see Outside of that if I look at the schedule no matter how bad Florida State is, Miami we're still going to have.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It's still going to be a game.
- 11:09Speaker 3: It's always going to be a game outside of COVID season.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I don't know, man, that's kind of the vibe I'm getting off of it this year.
- 11:17Speaker 1: No, but it's not We've got plenty of time for that.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Those are the outliers.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Who scares me the most on the schedule for Miami is freaking Duke.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well.
- 11:30Speaker 3: With Manny Diaz as head coach and Malik Murphy as the transfer quarterback from Texas coming over to Duke.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Dude, duke terrifies me and we always struggle with Duke for some stupid reason.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Georgia Tech man.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I think that might be the best team.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Georgia Tech and Duke are the ones that scare me the most on the schedule.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And a down ACC.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, acc is just not good, virginia Tech.
- 11:55Speaker 1: They're supposed to be better.
- 11:56Speaker 1: We just talked about how it might be better.
- 11:58Speaker 2: How did everybody like, everybody like nationally, was on Virginia Tech's, on this team's team?
- 12:06Speaker 1: You don't go to Vanderbilt as the sneaky surprise pick of the conference winner and you go into the dumpster fire of the SEC and get beat.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah, because you know what you do as an ACC team.
- 12:21Speaker 3: When you head to the SEC, you walk into their house and you beat their dicks into the dirt, like the Canes did to the Gators.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Exactly, if you want to be an elite team, that's what you do.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Well, it was a good start for Miami.
- 12:40Speaker 1: They're 1-0.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Famu coming up, but other than that there was we'll go to Georgia another team that's loaded with talent.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that was.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And loaded with transfers as well.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Kirby Smart added 11 transfers.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Not even all of them played in the game.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yeah, what did they sit there?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, etienne kid.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and they had the freshman.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Frazier, who looks like a beast.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And then they have former Miami Hurricane who catches a touchdown?
- 13:14Speaker 3: Oh, Colby Young.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and I believe another quarterback that will be in New York, Carson Beck at the helm.
- 13:24Speaker 1: With the defense with the best defense?
- 13:26Speaker 1: Nobody's.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I said it yesterday I'll let you go, but nobody's beating them.
- 13:33Speaker 1: They're going to win every game by double-digit scores.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I'm curious to see Ole Miss.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, even if they lose their regular season.
- 13:42Speaker 3: It's yeah, I know, but I think I think like week one evaluations, I think Ole Miss has a legitimate shot to beat Georgia and I think they have the best shot out of any SEC team.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, ole Miss is good dude.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Jackson Dart is back.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin is an offensive genius.
- 14:03Speaker 3: As big of a scumbag as he is, he's still an offensive genius.
- 14:09Speaker 1: All right, yeah, yeah, but he's still a scumbag.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Change me with a 22-year-old girlfriend.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Baby, We'll see yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 1: We'll see when the competition stiffens up for Ole Miss.
- 14:21Speaker 1: But yes, if not now, when is for?
- 14:26Speaker 3: Ole Miss as well.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Week one evaluation.
- 14:29Speaker 3: It was a prove-it game for Miami this year they started out right.
- 14:35Speaker 2: This is kind of a prove-it year for Ole Miss Eyeball.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Test winners are Georgia and Miami from week one definitely.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Georgia the defense look incredible.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Um, I mean, you got just new guys just filtering in, just they're just you know what my other biggest takeaway from yesterday's game was, or yesterday's games was um, the te&M game was the most boring game I've ever watched.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, let's talk about that for a minute, because that's what I was getting at when I was talking about DJ Lagway and the transfer portal.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Oh my, and how.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I tend to believe that Texas A&M has already got a couple oil refineries that they're going to offer him.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He's from Texas, yeah, yeah, um, they made a late run at him, so did usc?
- 15:31Speaker 2: So, like, if florida just stays with lagway, I don't know what's wrong with graham mertz, but at what?
- 15:33Speaker 2: At this point, why even go back to it?
- 15:35Speaker 3: yeah, if you stick with graham mertz after yesterday's performance instead of starting DJ Lagway the rest of the way you're a freaking moron.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah Right, that's your only chance to even keep your job.
- 15:49Speaker 2: The only chance is to pin everything on that kid and win enough games.
- 15:54Speaker 3: That kid looked good.
- 15:55Speaker 3: He was 3-6.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Lagway looked good too 3-6 for 31 yards.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:59Speaker 1: But it's the mobility Mertz 11 of 20, 91 yards in a pick and Lagwood had a pick too.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Florida wasn't going to win that game.
- 16:07Speaker 2: They weren't, it was apparent as soon as it started.
- 16:10Speaker 2: They can't compete in the trenches.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I would say the numbers don't distinguish the difference in performances between those two quarterbacks and ruin his confidence maybe.
- 16:22Speaker 3: No, I'd throw him into the fire and ruin his confidence, maybe?
- 16:24Speaker 3: No, I throw him into the fire right now and I ride his ass.
- 16:26Speaker 2: He seems like a kid.
- 16:27Speaker 2: That's not going to be at his confidence shaken.
- 16:30Speaker 2: He's there to play.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Who do you think he stays?
- 16:34Speaker 2: at Florida If he continues to play this season and they show any signs of hope for him and Napier.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Did he?
- 16:43Speaker 3: commit to Napier or did he commit to Florida?
- 16:45Speaker 3: He?
- 16:45Speaker 2: legitimately loves Billy Napier.
- 16:47Speaker 2: He believed in whatever he was selling.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, but Napier is going to get fired.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Right, that's what I'm saying.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Did he commit to Napier or did he commit to Florida?
- 16:55Speaker 3: The bigger question with Lagway is whether he transfers.
- 16:58Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying, because one thing I know from the little bit I saw of him yesterday that kid's a player.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 3: And you don't want to ride your career on a dumpster fire of the Titanic.
- 17:16Speaker 3: You want to be a rat that forgot to jump ship.
- 17:18Speaker 2: He's out of there as soon as Napier is going as soon as he's out of there, he's already number one draft pick in the transfer portal.
- 17:28Speaker 2: That kid's getting All right.
- 17:30Speaker 3: He'll be like Cam Ward in the transfer portal.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, nothing else to throw out from Ward.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I had to throw it out there we got Miami look good, alabama look good, ole Miss look good, they look good, ole Miss look good.
- 17:44Speaker 1: They didn't really play anybody, but they took care of business.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Yeah, all you expect from teams in week one.
- 17:52Speaker 3: All you expect from teams in week one is to show up and do what they're supposed to do, right, you know?
- 18:00Speaker 3: Unless you got one of these great matchups that we have in week ones um, you just expect them.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Michigan looked pretty soft their game against soft all of last year.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I spent the entire year last year on this podcast, ripping michigan and I was wrong.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Every goddamn weekend well, we'll find out way more about them.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Next week they're going to be taking on Texas again.
- 18:28Speaker 1: That's going to.
- 18:29Speaker 1: That's where game day is next next week.
- 18:31Speaker 3: So that's going to be a fun one.
- 18:33Speaker 1: We'll find out two of the four playoff teams last year.
- 18:36Speaker 1: All right, oregon, oregon struggled.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Oregon did struggle with Idaho.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, oregon struggled with Idaho.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Oregon did struggle with Idaho.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Yeah, oregon struggled with Idaho.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Dylan Gabriel had like a 90 million percent completion percentage for like 500 yards.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Dude Dylan Gabriel at Oregon is a scary proposition.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but they still struggled with Idaho.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, well, they'd get in the red zone and then Lanning would make it a point to like all right, we're going to work on our physicality, and that O-line is pretty soft when it comes to the running game.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and I just get scared when I see an electric Oregon offense and that scares me.
- 19:19Speaker 3: In a one-off game yeah, because they can always score.
- 19:22Speaker 2: They're going to factor into the Big Ten.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Definitely UCLA is not their trash.
- 19:27Speaker 2: They were lucky to win, but they are just a bad football team.
- 19:31Speaker 3: I mean, dude, they were barely good when Maurice Jones drew.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Was their running back?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Yeah, they're like UCLA's been trash for a long time.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you kind of see why Chip Kelly just dipped out.
- 19:43Speaker 2: He's like you know what I'm just there's no point in even trying out here anymore.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Yeah, like what the hell am I doing here?
- 19:50Speaker 2: We'll see what USC's got tonight though.
- 19:53Speaker 1: USC LSU tonight.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I know I'm super interested for this game.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Like whoever loses this game, that coach is immediately uncomfortable.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I think LSU wins.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I do too.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I don't think USC can stop it, until they do stop someone.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I'm I think the quarterback for LSU will be good actually.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I mean they won.
- 20:12Speaker 3: I'm really interested to see how they replace Jaden Daniels.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and their offensive coordinator he's up there Well offensive coordinator doesn't bother me so much, because Brian Kelly's your head coach.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 20:26Speaker 3: That dude knows offense.
- 20:27Speaker 3: If there's anything, Brian Kelly knows he knows how to run an offense.
- 20:30Speaker 3: So that's what I'm curious to see is the talent level of the quarterback that is replacing Jaden Daniels at LSU.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, a couple first-round receivers as well.
- 20:43Speaker 3: And I'm curious to see what USC's offense looks like.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Miller Moss going to start for two new quarterbacks with a lot of talent and quote-unquote offensive genius coaches, Right.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So we'll see which one of those guys could start their possible Heisman run.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Remember when Garrett Riley was an offensive genius.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That was a couple seasons ago.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Oh for Clemson.
- 21:09Speaker 1: And they got destroyed by Georgia Davos not taking transfers.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Not taking live calls either?
- 21:19Speaker 3: I guess, right, that was when your quarterback goes from Deshaun Watson to DJ Oogoo-goo-goo, let's go to.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And then to Cade Klubnick.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, cade.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So we've got Miami.
- 21:33Speaker 1: We've talked about that.
- 21:34Speaker 1: We talked about the big game Saturday.
- 21:35Speaker 1: We talked about the game.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Wait, can we talk more about Miami?
- 21:41Speaker 2: We are the game.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Wait, can we talk more about miami?
- 21:46Speaker 2: We are what, what, uh, what, what was the status?
- 21:47Speaker 3: with reuben bain?
- 21:47Speaker 3: Do we ever find out his injury?
- 21:48Speaker 3: I haven't heard yet.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I uh, I actually was checking on some of the uh like direct miami, uh like chat boards or whatever.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, um, and we I still don't know.
- 21:58Speaker 3: But you know what I do know, I know it doesn't actually matter that much, because baron right baron balled his ass off right, yeah, every aspect of that, and we'll do.
- 22:11Speaker 3: It's a schedule that's going to be, you know the schedule is, I would say big numbers up and win a lot of games.
- 22:21Speaker 1: He's going to win a lot of games.
- 22:24Speaker 1: He's going to be the face of it.
- 22:27Speaker 3: He made a good decision coming.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And also, like we were talking about during the game, another little nuance of it, because everybody knows Cam Ward is awesome at this point the tight end Arroyo, that guy looks like he could be a freak.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Oh, he's a weapon if he can stay healthy.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Yeah, if he can stay healthy.
- 22:48Speaker 3: He is a freak of an athlete and a weapon that you just can't comprehend what to do with.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yes, Miami's the best team of all time.
- 22:58Speaker 1: All right, our week one overreactions.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Will that be one of them?
- 23:02Speaker 2: The only time Miami was better was 2001.
- 23:04Speaker 1: It looks different, it looks different.
- 23:06Speaker 2: We got.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Georgia-Miami play Now.
- 23:07Speaker 1: there's still a lot to say I mean you could blow it, you never know, but it would just be off.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I mean ankles break, right, it would have to be some freak like injuries.
- 23:26Speaker 3: People get like explosive diarrhea during the game.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Stuff happens, yeah, because, like what I've been comparing this Miami team to coming into the season was the COVID year, with De'Aaron King, all right.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I think they're better than that.
- 23:34Speaker 3: That's what I was getting at, Because that was just like a one-off.
- 23:38Speaker 3: De'aaron King was kind of a freak and we had a couple fast wide receivers.
- 23:42Speaker 2: And then I mean but this time there's no off.
- 23:42Speaker 2: The eric king was kind of a freak and we had a couple fast wide receivers.
- 23:43Speaker 2: And then I mean but this time this miami team this miami team when they took the field.
- 23:48Speaker 1: They're intimidating, just looking yeah, well, they're, they're, they're, yeah, they're grown-ups they're uh, they got dudes that are grown men on the team now it's, it's, it's gonna be a let's go to uh, let's go to the Florida State Seminoles and they're playing Boston College Monday night.
- 24:06Speaker 1: It's a big game, home opener.
- 24:09Speaker 3: It's a huge game for Florida State.
- 24:11Speaker 1: It's a renovated stadium, so it's going to be smaller, yeah, but it's a huge game.
- 24:17Speaker 1: The debut for Bill O'Brien, quarterback for BC.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Castellanos is a very talented runner.
- 24:25Speaker 2: He gave FSU defense fits last year Florida State needs to show up Former Florida State running back.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Deshaun Ward is on that roster to go along with that other running back.
- 24:34Speaker 1: What's his name?
- 24:35Speaker 1: Jim Rochambeau Rochambeau.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I mean his name's not Toa Fili, so he's not a running back I care about from Florida State.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Right, right, but the line is way too high.
- 24:47Speaker 3: It's 16 and a half, I would run Wait hold on 16 and a half.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it's actually come down from like 22.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Dude, take my money.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Take my money, dude.
- 25:02Speaker 1: It's 16 and a half, Jesus Christ.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Boston College covers that.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say, you know, we'll see what Florida State defense shows up, if they can.
- 25:12Speaker 3: They don't win by three touchdowns.
- 25:14Speaker 2: All right, I'm asking Jimmy I mean, are they going to have Fisk and Verse and all those guys on defense?
- 25:22Speaker 2: Is that the defense that's going to show up?
- 25:24Speaker 2: No, all right, well then.
- 25:27Speaker 1: You're over there, Georgia Tech.
- 25:28Speaker 1: You didn't play well against them.
- 25:31Speaker 2: That game's over with.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You have another challenge from a more athletic quarterback.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Were you as bad as you showed or are you going to make the adjustments?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Who's going to step up this offense?
- 25:44Speaker 1: Since Jordan Travis broke his leg has been looking for somebody to take over, and you know it can't be two affiliates.
- 25:54Speaker 1: It's got to be a quarterback or receiver.
- 25:57Speaker 3: And actually, if you look before, jordan Travis broke his leg, the only time this offense ever worked under Mike Norvell was when Jordan Travis was playing at an elite level.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Right, I mean you need a quarterback that can run with it or move with it, and DJU needs to make decisions quicker.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I'd like to see more aggressiveness throwing the ball and let's see if he can make those reads.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I mean, why did you bring him in?
- 26:25Speaker 1: You know, like if he can't do it, let's see it.
- 26:28Speaker 1: You know, I want to see him throw three or four picks like, try to push the ball down the field the best.
- 26:37Speaker 2: The best offense for novell is when Jordan Travis was running the football.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Anytime you gave him a chance.
- 26:44Speaker 2: You know, it wasn't like the sit back in the pocket and try to try to read the defense.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I like, dude, we don't have the offensive line for that.
- 26:53Speaker 2: You know, dj.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I mean, if you're not going to run the read option, if you're not going to keep it and run it, then what's the point?
- 27:01Speaker 2: Man put somebody in there that is going to make that a part of the offense.
- 27:05Speaker 2: But there's so many more problems that's not no, that's.
- 27:15Speaker 1: That's too soon.
- 27:17Speaker 3: You didn't bring him in for I thought I saw something with Brock Glenn.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I saw some.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I saw some talent with him.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Dj, you ain't the dude.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Bring in Brock Glenn for me, there's a very possible scenario that after the Memphis game we're going to just see a big youth movement well, just like I was just saying for Florida well, you're not.
- 27:41Speaker 1: You don't have any easy games coming up and Boston College is probably, on paper, the easiest opponent of the next three, because Memphis is for real.
- 27:52Speaker 2: And then, SMU.
- 27:54Speaker 1: SMU?
- 27:54Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll find out.
- 27:56Speaker 2: They're on the road.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Florida State needs to look themselves in the mirror and take care of business, because I still think they can do it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I still think they can win all those games, and so we'll find out.
- 28:07Speaker 1: You know, like Georgia Tech is not a bad team, they're not bad and you could lose a game when a team executes like they do.
- 28:15Speaker 1: So if you, it's, what does Mike Norvell always say?
- 28:18Speaker 1: It's how you respond.
- 28:19Speaker 1: So this is Right, but we'll see what florida state's made of.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I think their character of each player is going to be tried well, it has to be, and we'll find out what and it's going to be again.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So you're right back on national television.
- 28:33Speaker 1: It's the only game on monday night football.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So what?
- 28:36Speaker 1: This is it.
- 28:37Speaker 1: This is the.
- 28:38Speaker 3: This is the season on the line and I also think and this is one thing that everybody's missing with the narratives around Florida State, georgia Tech is good yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I'm not missing it.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Georgia Tech is good they are.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Georgia Tech is a eight or a nine-win team.
- 28:56Speaker 1: If you watched the end of last season, they were hot.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and they played Georgia better than anyone else other than alabama last year dude.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I talked about it at the end of last year.
- 29:07Speaker 3: It was like after mario cristobal didn't take a knee.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Georgia tech oh, that would have been a great win.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they did.
- 29:14Speaker 1: They had the confidence.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Haynes king coach's son yeah, and they and they played better down the stretch.
- 29:21Speaker 1: They got those little weapons at running back and they added uh guys better down the stretch, they got those little weapons at running back and they added uh guys on defense.
- 29:25Speaker 1: That was the supposed, supposedly the weakness.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Um, and if they can keep that defense rested by maintaining that time of possession on people and change the game, they're going to be in a lot of games.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Now they might lose some of those games too because they're close, but it's a team that's going to give you fits every week.
- 29:42Speaker 3: They're an 8-4 team.
- 29:44Speaker 3: They can beat anybody.
- 29:45Speaker 3: You want no part of an 8-4 ACC team.
- 29:49Speaker 1: No part Damn sure don't want to open the season with them.
- 29:52Speaker 1: You don't want to open the season in Ireland with them, and I think that's what you have to hold.
- 29:56Speaker 1: That's what's holding me back to making any you know any rash judgments on this particular team, because we really haven't seen much.
- 30:05Speaker 1: You still I mean they did respond, they responded and went on that drive and they didn't get the damn ball back.
- 30:11Speaker 1: So I'd like to see the defense step up and give the offense more opportunities to grow up.
- 30:18Speaker 3: I think that's speaking of responding, speaking of responding.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I want to see how they respond to that loss tomorrow night.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Well, yeah, we will find out, I'm super intrigued.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I mean that kind of sets up Florida State for the rest of the season is how they respond.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yep, yeah you're going into the bye week.
- 30:36Speaker 2: If you're 0-2 going into the bye week, it's, it's over.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it's over.
- 30:39Speaker 2: You, it's over, it's over.
- 30:41Speaker 2: You.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Better start drawing it up for 25.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yep, we got to get on out of here.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I'll ride you, but yeah, draw it up.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Man, let's pull the brakes on that.
- 30:53Speaker 1: You all right, pump the brakes.
- 30:56Speaker 1: All right, pump them.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I don't want to hear none of that.
- 30:59Speaker 3: yet Pumping the brakes for you is back.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yes, I mean that's fair.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I mean I think if you're a Miami fan or if you hate Miami, you should be worried because they look good.
- 31:10Speaker 1: They look like they have a a real deal quarterback that's probably ready for the NFL but wants to make more money and increase his draft value, and so he insert him on, it's a good combo too and he went to the perfect team that needed a guy.
- 31:28Speaker 3: That's all they needed and they got the best one on the market and he fits the scheme yeah, so Miami fans should be happy we'll see, though, it's gonna be.
- 31:43Speaker 1: We'll see if they can.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It's going to be.
- 31:43Speaker 1: We'll see if they can take this love.
- 31:45Speaker 1: They're going to get a lot of hype, we'll see how.
- 31:48Speaker 1: You know it's always different when you start receiving the praise and you know when you're always the favorite and now you're in the hunting.
- 31:56Speaker 1: It's such a quick turnaround in one game.
- 31:59Speaker 3: But it's when Miami always gets the best?
- 32:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll find out.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Well, we got FSU on Labor Day night, man, I got the next three days.
- 32:12Speaker 2: You're going to need them, buddy.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Well done, sir, well done.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like those night games.
- 32:24Speaker 1: As I get older, less and less fun.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Man 3.30 can find you where it's at.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, 3.30 is a good time.
- 32:32Speaker 1: It is, it's perfect.
- 32:36Speaker 3: That's another reason why the Miami game was so awesome.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And I still now.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I never thought I'd say I prefer noon now.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you know kind of like that If I'm going to I might as well just ruin my day as soon as possible.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Let's just see how it's going to go.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Get mad at noon and maybe by the evening you're a little bit less mad.
- 32:55Speaker 1: It did make a few changes on the lineups in the depth chart for Florida State.
- 32:59Speaker 1: That's not really worth talking about.
- 33:01Speaker 1: We'll see if that plays out tomorrow night.
- 33:05Speaker 1: It's not.
- 33:06Speaker 1: We'll watch it, we'll react to you.
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's going to be bad and we'll talk to you next time.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Right here.
- 33:12Speaker 2: See you then.
- 33:14Speaker 1: On the North Florida Sports Network.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I'm goddamn.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Oh well, goddamn.
