Transcript
- 0:14SPEAKER_02: My guest today is a comedian who just had an amazing debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: You may have seen her on Comedy Central or no one as Roast Battle UK Champion in 2023 and 2024.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: It's Shalaka Kamara.
- 0:27SPEAKER_06: Hello, thank you for having me.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: How are you doing today?
- 0:30SPEAKER_06: I'm good, yeah.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:32SPEAKER_06: I have had coffee.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: You've had your coffee.
- 0:34SPEAKER_06: Can't complain.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: This is one of the first times I've actually reached out to someone and said, can you please come on and talk about talk about this?
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Because I know of your love.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: Uh we've worked together.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: I've known of your love of the Fast and the Furious franchise.
- 0:49SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: And I said, I looked, I looked up the list and I was like, I looked at the list of them and I was like, well, it's gotta be Tokyo Drift.
- 0:57SPEAKER_06: It's gotta be Tokyo Drift.
- 0:58unknown: It's gotta.
- 0:59SPEAKER_06: One of my favorite movies of all time.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Is that genuinely one of your favorite movies of all time?
- 1:04SPEAKER_06: People always think I'm doing a bit.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know if you're doing a bit, but I'm deaf- I'm never doing a bit.
- 1:09SPEAKER_06: And the problem is I just inherently sound sarcastic.
- 1:13SPEAKER_06: But if you hear me talk about any of the Fast and Furious films for more than 10 minutes, which I did in Edinburgh multiple times, I genuinely think people don't appreciate what cinema is for anymore.
- 1:25SPEAKER_06: Cinema's for like one of the cinema's for a lot of things.
- 1:28SPEAKER_06: Art is for a lot of purposes, but one of the important purposes of art is enjoyment.
- 1:33SPEAKER_06: And I truly believe there is no better enjoyment than hot women and fast cars.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: I can't believe you led with hot women.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: For the Fast and Furious franchise, my my first thought is not hot women.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Like there's not and I'm not saying there's not hot women in it.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: I'm saying that that's not my first thought with the Fast and Furious franchise.
- 1:54SPEAKER_06: It's because they've deviated from the Path of God and they don't do that many fast cars anymore.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: But this is why I think Tokyo Drift is so underrated for that kind of thing.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: It's the most, I think it's the most car heavy of all of them.
- 2:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: I would I would argue.
- 2:08SPEAKER_06: It is the most car heavy.
- 2:10SPEAKER_06: Um I actually did look up which movie, which Fast and Furious movie had the most cars.
- 2:15SPEAKER_06: And I think it is actually Tokyo Drift.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: Oh, is it really?
- 2:17SPEAKER_06: It's either Tokyo Drift.
- 2:18SPEAKER_06: I mean, there's some that's like a bit of a cop out, like Fast and Furious 8.
- 2:21SPEAKER_06: I mean the cars, but they're all like AI powered, right?
- 2:25SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 2:26SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's not a useful amount of cars.
- 2:28SPEAKER_06: You know what I mean?
- 2:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:29SPEAKER_06: Um yeah, Tokyo Drift is, I think, pretty much the last one.
- 2:33SPEAKER_06: Because I can't remember Fast 4 that much, but Tokyo Drift Fast and Four.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: That is the worst one.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: That's genuinely the worst one.
- 2:39SPEAKER_06: That's when they started going to the heist stuff.
- 2:40SPEAKER_06: I mean, obviously they were always heisting, but that's when there was more of a focus on a long-term plot.
- 2:46SPEAKER_06: But Tokyo Drift was the last one where all it was about was racing cars.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: And I think it's interesting because it's it's the it's the one that has the least to do with any of them.
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: With any of the people, any of the core cast of characters, at least.
- 3:00SPEAKER_04: Well.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: To an extent.
- 3:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: To an extent.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Um but it's it's I don't know.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: It's I I saw this, so uh I I want you to tell me your history with it, but like I will tell you, I saw this in the cinema when it came out and I loved it at the time.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: I was so what was that?
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: This was 2006, so I was 17.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: And probably the perfect age.
- 3:27SPEAKER_06: Well, you age really well.
- 3:29SPEAKER_06: Jesus Christ.
- 3:31SPEAKER_06: That's blowing my mind.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: I can't like the again, the third time, third time in three weeks.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: This is gone.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Another thing I can't keep talking about on this podcast.
- 3:40SPEAKER_05: I just did the maths and I was like, what the fuck?
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: I blew Samira's mind, I blew Jake Bardwages' mine.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: I can't keep talking about it.
- 3:48SPEAKER_05: Fair enough.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, again, also like weirdly what the f wait, yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: So I talked about click, and that was 2006 as well, so that that's Yeah, fair enough.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: I don't know what's going on.
- 4:02SPEAKER_06: Like these are all like there's I think the early from 2000, well, I'd say 1999 to 2005, the best movies of our generation were released.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:14SPEAKER_06: That was the the era for some of the best.
- 4:17SPEAKER_06: Any good movie I've looked up in the last like year of my life.
- 4:21SPEAKER_06: I'm like, oh yeah, I forgot about this film.
- 4:22SPEAKER_06: When was it released?
- 4:23SPEAKER_06: 2003, 2005, 1990, uh 1999, sorry, 2000.
- 4:28SPEAKER_06: Like that was the best era for film.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: It was.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: It's well, it's basically I actually you you're like quite a few years younger than me, but like I think there's um it's something about the 90s and two like early 2000s of like it's it's the nostalgia of like when we're kids and into teen years.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: And there's something around that I feel, but at the same time, there is some kind of charm around them that that's missing from the movies of today.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: And then also like you go back a little bit further, and there's a there's a like a dark there's a darkness to I feel like a lot of them in in the sense of like gritty.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: Like you look at the 80s movies and like even even the 80s teen movies or the kids' movies or whatever, there's a there's a weird like undertone of like I think it's because um a lot of d what we consider to be good films from the 80s are a lot of us who've watched things like Donnie Darko.
- 5:23SPEAKER_06: I mean, is that the 80s?
- 5:24SPEAKER_06: That's the 90s, isn't it?
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Donnie Darko is like 2001.
- 5:27SPEAKER_06: Fuck off.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: How old do you think Jake Gyllenhaal is?
- 5:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, pretty old.
- 5:32SPEAKER_06: Um, not Donnie Darko then, but I I think the eighties was like that era where it's set in the 80s, maybe that's what you're thinking of.
- 5:40SPEAKER_06: Maybe that's what I'm thinking of.
- 5:41SPEAKER_06: But I think the eighties was that era of like rock, uh post-rock-ish, and the music was really positive, but the movies were just catching up.
- 5:51SPEAKER_06: The movies are always like ten years behind the music, I think.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's an interesting theory.
- 5:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:56SPEAKER_06: Because when you listen to when you watch um the Fast and Furious films and notice again, uh notice the soundtracks, some of some of it matches up to the music quite well, and some of it is doing music that was popular but is no longer popular.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 6:14SPEAKER_06: But it's still ca but the the But it fits with the the themes of and the vibe of the film.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: I get what you're saying there, yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: I know yeah, that's interesting.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: That's actually really true.
- 6:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because if I mean Saltburn is different, right?
- 6:26SPEAKER_06: Because with Saltburn, yeah, salt Saltburn is supposed to be set in that era, but I'm just gonna be able to do that.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: But Saltburn's a weird one because it's like it's got a lot of music that is supposed to be set in the time but was released after the film is set.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: But but they're listening to it in the movie, so it doesn't really place.
- 6:43SPEAKER_06: Um but you see that with uh no, promising young woman's also a bad example.
- 6:47SPEAKER_06: Again, because promising young woman is your same director, and also the demographic it's uh aimed towards is very much of the age group of woman.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to think of uh of movies that have done that now.
- 7:02SPEAKER_06: Um I just I'm trying I'm still distracted by trying to work out how old I was in 2006.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: What year were you born?
- 7:09SPEAKER_06: 1983.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: So you were 13.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I was 13, thank you.
- 7:12SPEAKER_06: Twelve or thirteen.
- 7:13SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_06: Okay, fine.
- 7:15SPEAKER_06: That makes sense.
- 7:16SPEAKER_06: Um I didn't watch Tokyo Drift in the cinema because uh I wasn't allowed to watch violent films.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: It's not even violent.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: I don't.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: There's not even a single bit.
- 7:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I wasn't allowed to watch sexy or violent films.
- 7:28SPEAKER_06: So I had to secretly watch it at home.
- 7:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 7:30SPEAKER_06: It's a very sexy film.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: When did you first see it then?
- 7:32SPEAKER_06: I watched it I must have watched it when I was 14, 15.
- 7:35SPEAKER_06: Okay, so it's like as soon as it came to like as soon as uh you could buy it on one of those like DVDs that you bought by across like from a guy on the road in India.
- 7:43SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 7:44SPEAKER_06: Like the ripped-off DVDs that's like from someone's camcorder in the cinema.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you you actually got a camcorder version and not like the original, yeah, yeah.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: Because sometimes you could buy those where it's like the collection of the Fast and the Furious movies or something like that on like stu on one disc.
- 7:59SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_06: So we had one of those, but again, it was the old camcorder versions.
- 8:04SPEAKER_06: Um I think we bought I had like a my cousin had a series of those um when I was like 16, 17, and we watched all of those.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: I used to buy a lot of those.
- 8:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so did I.
- 8:16SPEAKER_06: Because you just go back to like whatever country you're from, if you're not from the UK, and you can just buy them from a guy off the street for like a couple of things.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you could do it here as well, but like it was a lot more expensive here.
- 8:25SPEAKER_06: Oh, fine, yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: To well, to an extent.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: But like unless you went to like a car boot sale or something.
- 8:29SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, that makes sense.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: So you'd you'd go and buy them there, or I remember one time I went to Thailand and I just bought like a load of them.
- 8:37SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 8:38SPEAKER_06: My favorite was I don't know if you had this here growing up, but you get like it wasn't Cam Cotta, it was like proper DVDs, but they'd put together like thematically linked films.
- 8:47SPEAKER_06: That's what I mean, yeah.
- 8:48SPEAKER_06: The people who do that had never seen any of the films.
- 8:50SPEAKER_06: So you'd have like Love Actually, Notting Hill, and then some gritty or about a boy.
- 8:57SPEAKER_06: And it's like these three films don't thematically link together.
- 9:00SPEAKER_06: But you'll have like Shrek 1, Shrek 2, and Cars.
- 9:03SPEAKER_06: And it's like they're just all animated.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, I definitely, yeah, I definitely had a few of those.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to think of like I'm trying to think of any funny.
- 9:11SPEAKER_06: Oh, I I there was one that had runaway jewelry.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Um God, that's a that that's a one to like pull out that no one ever talks about.
- 9:19SPEAKER_05: I love runaway jewelry.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: I love runaway jewelry.
- 9:24SPEAKER_05: I love that film because I am your dad who reads those books in the game.
- 9:29SPEAKER_05: I'm a John Grisham bitch.
- 9:30SPEAKER_05: Like, I love a John Grisham novel.
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: Um it was like runaway jewelry.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: Runaway Jewelry, Runaway Bride.
- 9:37SPEAKER_05: Worse.
- 9:38SPEAKER_05: It was runaway jewelry, um, Mission Impossible 1 and Chindler's List.
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: Jesus Christ.
- 9:45SPEAKER_05: What has linked these films together?
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: I tell you what has.
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: Your dad.
- 9:50SPEAKER_05: My dad, probably.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Your dad made the collection.
- 9:58SPEAKER_05: Just films he's watched in the last 10 years.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Films he'll fall asleep to.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: What the fuck?
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Filmers list and runaway jury.
- 10:09SPEAKER_06: Oh, there's so many.
- 10:10SPEAKER_06: There's there's one, they used to have the ones with just the actors as well.
- 10:13SPEAKER_06: So they'd have like these crazy ones that were like um my best friend's wedding, pretty woman, and Aaron Brock officially.
- 10:20SPEAKER_06: It's like, no, mate, that's just all Julia Robert.
- 10:22SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 10:23SPEAKER_05: You cannot sit down and watch all these three movies on the same day.
- 10:26SPEAKER_05: That would ruin you.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, I used to, yeah.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Those were really funny.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: Because I feel like sometimes they would also do it even for even for like official releases, not even like, not even like those pirated ones.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: It was like official releases where they would do the same thing.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: But it was like three films under the same studio.
- 10:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:45SPEAKER_06: And none of them made sense coherently.
- 10:47SPEAKER_06: There was no theme to it whatsoever.
- 10:49SPEAKER_06: It was just like these are Paramount movies.
- 10:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: And they would try and do it.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: I remember they would try and do it as well for like they would do it a lot with teen movies.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: And they would do it, so they would stick three teen movies together, but it'd be like a Cinderella story mixed with American Pie.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: And the theme is Jennifer Coolidge.
- 11:11SPEAKER_05: And it'd be like, what?
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: And who's like, who is this appealing to?
- 11:15SPEAKER_05: It's it's for the niche demographic where of a a brother and a sister who are both 15 living under the same roof.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: And it was, yeah.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: So again, it was just like, but only a 15-year-old could buy that.
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: So like surely you're limiting limiting yourself here.
- 11:35SPEAKER_06: I love some of the unhinged themes.
- 11:37SPEAKER_06: Like um, there was one of them that was like cheap.
- 11:40SPEAKER_06: I forgot what the third movie was, but it was cheaper by the dozen and sound of music.
- 11:43SPEAKER_06: And I was like, is the theme lots of kids?
- 11:46SPEAKER_06: Oh is that.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't even even if you told me those two, it would have taken me a long time to work it out.
- 11:50SPEAKER_06: I've been thinking about this for years now.
- 11:52SPEAKER_06: Because I've been like, what links?
- 11:54SPEAKER_06: And then eventually one day it clicked, and then I think about that like once every few months, it'll pop into my.
- 11:58SPEAKER_06: Every time I see something about sound of music, yeah, or I see Hillary Duff in anything, I'm like, oh yeah.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: What would be the third one?
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: What would be the third one you'd picked up?
- 12:06SPEAKER_06: It was it wasn't cheaper by the dozen two, but it was so I can't remember the name of the film, but there was you know when um there was in that era where you'd have like two films that were the exact same film but with different actors?
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 12:18SPEAKER_06: So like no strings attached and um Oh, um uh just uh no.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: No, it wasn't that.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: It was Friends with Benefits.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: Friends with Benefits, yeah.
- 12:28SPEAKER_06: It was like that with Cheaper by the Dozen.
- 12:30SPEAKER_06: There was Cheaper by the Dozen, and then there was literally the same film, but it was called something else with a whole different cost, and it was the exact same premise.
- 12:37SPEAKER_06: And I can't remember, but it was that film.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: I wonder if they So to bring this back to The Fast and Furious, I wonder if they ever did this with the uh kindergarten kindergarten co-op and the pacifier.
- 12:48SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 12:49SPEAKER_06: That would be that's great!
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: That's a good back-to-back.
- 12:52SPEAKER_06: They should do king kindergarten co-op, pacifier, and um what's the other one with the male nanny?
- 12:59SPEAKER_06: It's another big guy who I think it's called Mr.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Nanny.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: With Hulk Hogan, sorry.
- 13:03SPEAKER_06: No, I was thinking of uh Daddy Daycare.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 13:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: That was one.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Daddy Daycare uh was one where I had it where it was like the three weird, like non-linking movies.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what do you think?
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: So it's daddy daycare.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: And then like two other random kids movies, and I cannot remember what they are, but they were like nothing to do with Oh, each other.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:24SPEAKER_06: I had uh Daddy Daycare, but with Norbit, and I was like That's that is great.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: That is great.
- 13:32SPEAKER_06: I think it was oh, and there was what there was another Norbit that uh somebody uh one of my friends had, which was Norbit, Jack and Jill.
- 13:39SPEAKER_06: Was it Jack and Jill?
- 13:40SPEAKER_06: I think it was Jack and Jill.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: Fuck me.
- 13:42SPEAKER_06: Um this was the Camcorder ones.
- 13:44SPEAKER_06: It was Norbit, Jack and Jill, and one more where a man dresses like a woman.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_06: I mean comedic purposes.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just any any Murphy or Adam Sandler movie that could have been.
- 13:54SPEAKER_06: Oh, Big Mama's house.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Oh of course.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: I'll allow those three together.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 14:00SPEAKER_05: I don't even have a there is a very special distinguished gentleman that collection is for.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you who those are for.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: Those are for Erica Eela.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: She would love that.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: She she defended Norbit on here.
- 14:17unknown: Oh no.
- 14:19SPEAKER_05: I mean, who am I to talk to?
- 14:21SPEAKER_05: I defended runaway jewelry, and I'm about to go in depth on faster view.
- 14:26SPEAKER_02: Now I need to know what runaway Jewelry's rating is because it's like I'd I've never heard anyone talk about that movie.
- 14:32SPEAKER_06: See, the thing, I'm a simple girl of simple needs.
- 14:34SPEAKER_06: All I want is a thriller where no one gets hurt, and runaway jewelry is that.
- 14:39SPEAKER_06: It's a good film!
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: What do you think the rating is on Rotten Tomatoes?
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: Critics or Rotten Tomatoes?
- 14:44SPEAKER_06: Pop popcorn meter.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: I will tell you there is a there's a 2% distinction between the two of them.
- 14:49SPEAKER_06: No, fuck off.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:50SPEAKER_06: I would say 60 something for both.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: 73 and 75.
- 14:55SPEAKER_06: I told you it's a good film.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: Fair enough.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: It's a good film.
- 14:57SPEAKER_06: Fair enough.
- 14:59SPEAKER_06: Tom Cruise at his feet.
- 15:00SPEAKER_06: I watched the new Mission Impossible on Sunday.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Good?
- 15:05SPEAKER_06: Well, no, but it was entertaining.
- 15:08SPEAKER_06: Tom Cruise in his peak, though, Runaway Jury, Few Good Men.
- 15:11SPEAKER_06: Um He's not in Runaway Jury.
- 15:13SPEAKER_06: Is he not a Runaway Drew?
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: No, this is John Kusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman.
- 15:17SPEAKER_06: What am I thinking of?
- 15:18SPEAKER_06: He's in the world.
- 15:19SPEAKER_06: He's not even thinking of the right film.
- 15:20SPEAKER_06: It's another John Grisham film that he is in.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: He's uh he's in a Few Good Men.
- 15:27SPEAKER_06: No, that's not.
- 15:28SPEAKER_06: Few Good Men's actually genuinely an amazing film.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: Um I'm trying to think of a John Grisham one though.
- 15:34SPEAKER_06: Runaway Drury.
- 15:35SPEAKER_06: It was John Cusack.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:37SPEAKER_06: But then there was something else that John Cusack was in.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: Oh my god, I'm thinking of The Firm.
- 15:42SPEAKER_06: The Firm.
- 15:43SPEAKER_06: That's what I'm thinking of.
- 15:44SPEAKER_06: The Firm is also a great film.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: Also 76.
- 15:47SPEAKER_06: Great films! Um John Cusack was in this insane film that I wish I could watch again, but I cannot, for the life of me, find it.
- 15:57SPEAKER_06: And it's John Cusack and Hillary Duff, and it's like this dystopian world, future of the world.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: It's a terrible movie.
- 16:04SPEAKER_06: And I really enjoyed it, but I cannot find it anywhere.
- 16:06SPEAKER_06: And I can't even remember what it's called.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: I'll find it.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: I remember that I as soon as I see it, I remember the name of it.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: As soon as I see it on here.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Um it is called War Inc.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: War Inc.
- 16:19SPEAKER_06: I remember, but the thing is, when I watched War, what year was it released?
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: 2008.
- 16:23SPEAKER_06: 2008.
- 16:23SPEAKER_06: So it would have been on TV in India like 2009, 2010.
- 16:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_06: When I watched it, I was like a teenager.
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:30SPEAKER_06: And I you've seen, you've seen, worked on my show.
- 16:33SPEAKER_06: You know what kind of teenager I was.
- 16:35SPEAKER_06: I thought it was the deepest film of all time.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: That's so funny.
- 16:38SPEAKER_06: I was obsessed with Warring.
- 16:40SPEAKER_06: I would go around like, I kind of remember.
- 16:42SPEAKER_06: I used to quote Warring at school being like, that's actually from Warring.
- 16:45SPEAKER_06: You haven't seen it.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: It's really niche.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: I love that you've immediately like, not immediately, but like as soon as you become an adult, you're like, I've it's already gone out.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: It's fully gone.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't remember.
- 16:56SPEAKER_05: It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, but I can't remember a single quote from Warring.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, this is a way better, this is way better for quotes.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: Um But war Warink has a 29%, so and then a 38% from audience.
- 17:09SPEAKER_06: I can believe that, yeah.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: But wow, there's a lot of people in it.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: Way more people than I remember.
- 17:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it had it.
- 17:16SPEAKER_06: It's like Cloud Atlas.
- 17:17SPEAKER_06: It had this insane cast.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: Cloud Atlas.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: Don't even get me started on that movie.
- 17:21SPEAKER_06: It's so boring.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: So boring, but so offensive as well.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: Like what?
- 17:23SPEAKER_06: Well yeah.
- 17:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 17:25SPEAKER_06: But like criminal I think the most criminal thing a movie can do is be boring.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:29SPEAKER_06: Uh what did I watch recently that was so boring and I was enraged.
- 17:35SPEAKER_06: There's been so many movies I've watched recently where I've just been annoyed because they've been boring.
- 17:41SPEAKER_06: Like, I don't care if you're bad.
- 17:43SPEAKER_06: Just don't be boring.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I completely stand by that.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: Like this is it a is it one that was like, do you remember if it was well reviewed?
- 17:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah, probably.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: Okay, so keep it for the end.
- 17:54SPEAKER_06: Oh, it wasn't that well reviewed.
- 17:55SPEAKER_06: My end one is a big one.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: Okay, good.
- 17:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I got I've got I got into a fight at the fringe over this film with a really good friend of mine as well.
- 18:02SPEAKER_06: So yeah.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, did you want to name who he is?
- 18:04SPEAKER_06: Elliot Brown.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_06: We said agree to disagree and I realized, and then after we said agree to disagree, he did not agree to disagree.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: I'm fascinated to know what this is now.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: I can't wait.
- 18:14SPEAKER_06: I think it was Elliot Brown.
- 18:15SPEAKER_06: Anyway.
- 18:16SPEAKER_06: I hope it was Eliot Brown.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna tag him in this and he's gonna be like, what?
- 18:23SPEAKER_06: Um wait, no, Elliot Brown wasn't at the fringe.
- 18:27SPEAKER_06: Who was it?
- 18:28SPEAKER_06: Okay, number two.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: I also wasn't at the fringe, so I can't say like I wouldn't have been able to tell you.
- 18:33SPEAKER_06: Maybe it was at the Bill Murray.
- 18:35SPEAKER_06: I have a distinct memory of it being Eliot Brown.
- 18:37SPEAKER_06: Tag him in it and then we'll figure it out.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll figure it out.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Elliot, if it was you, yeah, comment.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Um so do you know okay, so I will tell you the re Yeah, I told you the review, the the rating of this off air, but like it's 38% from the critics.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Uh from the audience, it's um the audience is 69%.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: Nice, nice.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: Of course it is.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Uh do you know so I want to hear your rankings of of the movies, but I would can you guess what the lowest one is?
- 19:12SPEAKER_06: The lowest one.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Um So there's 11 of them.
- 19:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: As you know.
- 19:18SPEAKER_06: The lowest one.
- 19:19SPEAKER_06: Oh okay.
- 19:21SPEAKER_06: So it's five?
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: Five?
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: You think five is the lowest?
- 19:27SPEAKER_06: Because I'm trying to think of something that would have been missable, you know?
- 19:31SPEAKER_06: Five is really good.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: Five is amazing.
- 19:34SPEAKER_06: I mean it's I thought four would be too obvious.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: It's four.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: It's four, okay.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: It's four?
- 19:40SPEAKER_06: I thought it was gonna be like a surprise.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: No, no.
- 19:42SPEAKER_06: Okay, fine.
- 19:43SPEAKER_06: That makes sense.
- 19:44SPEAKER_06: Four is pretty boring.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: And what do you think after that?
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Eight.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: No.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: No.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: I mean, I love eight, but I know a lot of people who hate aid.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Where is eight?
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: Eight is way higher than you think it's gonna be.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: Wow, because I know so many people who hate aid.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: I don't hate eight, but I don't I'm not- it's kind of like Okay, so it's it's where I think it should be.
- 20:07SPEAKER_02: It's right roughly where I think it should be.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: Okay, fine.
- 20:09SPEAKER_06: What's after four?
- 20:10SPEAKER_06: So the second lowest ranked one?
- 20:13SPEAKER_06: Is it two?
- 20:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, okay, fine.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: And then it's Tokyo Drift.
- 20:16SPEAKER_06: That's crazy.
- 20:17SPEAKER_06: That is that's just people forgetting the movies.
- 20:20SPEAKER_06: That's that's all it is.
- 20:20SPEAKER_06: It's just recency bias.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: Then uh the eighth lowest is number ten.
- 20:27SPEAKER_06: That makes sense.
- 20:28SPEAKER_06: People did not like that.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: I didn't like ten.
- 20:30SPEAKER_06: I enjoy ten, but only for um Jason Mamore.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he because he's having so much fun in it, and he's the only person having fun in it.
- 20:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:38SPEAKER_06: I that's my general rule with most movies.
- 20:40SPEAKER_06: If boys are having if the if the boys are having fun, hey, boys just want to have fun.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: Boys just want to, yeah.
- 20:45SPEAKER_06: Anyone who's having fun in a film I should have.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: I think it's a tagline of these movies.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Boys just want to have fun.
- 20:49SPEAKER_06: Right, right.
- 20:50SPEAKER_06: Anyone who's having fun in movies, I'm like, this is great.
- 20:52SPEAKER_06: I'm enjoying it.
- 20:53SPEAKER_06: Like step up.
- 20:54SPEAKER_06: I love the step up films because everyone's having fun.
- 20:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:56SPEAKER_06: Apart from when you get to step up like four and stuff, no one's having fun because it's a cash crab.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, they're all well, I mean, I think anything after one is a cash crab.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: But that's as soon as you start singing the 3D in there.
- 21:08SPEAKER_06: Oh, I I remember having a fight with my parents because they didn't let me go to the cinema to see step up three in 3D.
- 21:13SPEAKER_06: Um, it's a waste of money.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Do you remember the era So you must remember the era of 3D movies then as well.
- 21:19SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: I I also didn't really fall for that like gimmick.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: I I I saw two movies in 3D because everything else gave me a headache, and I was like, I don't want to see it.
- 21:30SPEAKER_06: Because glasses.
- 21:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 21:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because you'd have to put the glasses on top of your glasses, and it was horrible.
- 21:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: But um, so I saw Jackass 3D, which is incredible in 3D.
- 21:40SPEAKER_06: It's very again, Erica coded.
- 21:43unknown: Yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: But I love the Jackass movies.
- 21:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, fair enough.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: And then um Avatar, because Oh, yeah, I watched Avatar in 3D, yeah.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: But I felt sick watching Avatar.
- 21:52SPEAKER_06: So did I.
- 21:53SPEAKER_06: After a while I just took them off, and then you realize that the screens were like really weird and you have to put them back on.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you have no choice, just stuck watching it.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: But then it's also like Three hours long.
- 22:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: But those those are the only two.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: But I remember everything being in 3D, and being but then like they had no purpose of being in 3D.
- 22:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: Jack Hoss at least played with the like the fun of the concept.
- 22:11SPEAKER_06: Avatar had no reason to be in 3D apart from the like those little mushrooms that would float you and you're like, oh, they're right here.
- 22:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:17SPEAKER_06: Who cares?
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: No.
- 22:18SPEAKER_06: Um I remember watching um 3D movies, think about 3D movies and talking about it with a friend recently where I was like, if they came out in the format they came out now, there'd be Gen Z on the internet calling it Ableist.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 22:30SPEAKER_06: Because it if you wear glasses, it makes your head hurt.
- 22:33SPEAKER_06: And that was one of the few Gen Z things I will agree with.
- 22:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:36SPEAKER_06: It is Ableist.
- 22:37SPEAKER_06: I can't watch 3D movies.
- 22:38SPEAKER_06: No.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: And then they then they started doing the 3D TVs as well.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: And they were they were shockingly bad.
- 22:43SPEAKER_06: And also so expensive.
- 22:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_06: It's like, who wants 3D in your house?
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 22:46SPEAKER_06: Your house is everything in your home is 3D.
- 22:49SPEAKER_06: Just live a little.
- 22:51SPEAKER_05: Touch some grass.
- 22:52SPEAKER_02: You have to like go out and spend ex extortionate amounts of money on these DVDs that and then like and then have a pair of glasses.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Everyone's got to have a pair of glasses in your house to watch them.
- 23:00SPEAKER_06: Oh, I remember the era of Blu-ray players where it was like a status symbol where somebody had a Blu-ray player.
- 23:06SPEAKER_06: And now looking back, I'm like, so you had to buy more expensive DVDs for your more expensive player that looked no different to anything else.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: See, I never had a Blu-ray player, but I had a PS4, which could play or PS3 maybe.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: Whichever one could play Blu-ray.
- 23:19SPEAKER_06: Right, yeah.
- 23:19SPEAKER_06: God, we're really old on.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: And so like Well, I have.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Um so you could so we never like had to like actually spend the money on getting one of them.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: But and then I had like I think I had like five or six Blu-rays, and then that was it.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: And never never anything.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: And I don't I I think I had them and watched them once.
- 23:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 23:37SPEAKER_06: It was such a waste of money.
- 23:39SPEAKER_06: One of the good things about everything technology developing over time is now we're not tied to like single-use formats.
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 23:49SPEAKER_06: Like uh just when you'd have like a CD, but it wasn't MP3, but all you had was an MP3 player.
- 23:56SPEAKER_06: It wasn't a like a different oh Jesus.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: Well, I guess now the equivalent of that is like now being tied to a streaming service.
- 24:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I guess.
- 24:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 24:04SPEAKER_06: Not unless you know about illegal streaming.
- 24:06SPEAKER_06: I mean, yeah.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, this is also not on any streaming platform.
- 24:11SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 24:11SPEAKER_06: It's not this podcast.
- 24:13SPEAKER_02: No, not this podcast.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Oh, right.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: It's moving.
- 24:15SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 24:17SPEAKER_05: I was like, who's listening to this podcast?
- 24:19SPEAKER_05: That's unknown.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: No, this is just for me.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: No, this is on everything.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: This is on every podcast platform, YouTube, Patreon.
- 24:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so when you say, oh, you mean Tokyo Drift?
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Tokyo Drift, you can watch it on so you can watch it on everything, but you have to pay to watch it on any of them.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: It's like one of those services.
- 24:38SPEAKER_06: One of the things that angered me the most was uh I came back from Edinburgh and all I wanted to do was watch all of the Fast Furious films as a treat.
- 24:44SPEAKER_06: I was like, I'll watch one every day because I've got 10 days off.
- 24:47SPEAKER_06: Um and you have to buy each of them costs like 10 pounds.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: And I was like, nah, I'm surprised you don't already own them all.
- 24:55SPEAKER_06: Well, we don't have a DVD player, do we?
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: But I mean I'm surprised you just don't own them outright somehow.
- 24:59SPEAKER_06: Oh no, I don't.
- 25:00SPEAKER_06: I couldn't be bothered.
- 25:01SPEAKER_06: Because one day for my birthday, I will demand them.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, surely you can just buy a box set of all of them.
- 25:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and play it on what though?
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: True.
- 25:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:11SPEAKER_06: Nothing I own has a CD drive.
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the second they got rid of a CD drive on like computers, I was like, oh well, there goes that.
- 25:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:17SPEAKER_06: What am I gonna play anything on?
- 25:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you you can get a box set on like a streaming service, I guess.
- 25:23SPEAKER_06: But I'm waiting for the last one to come out and then I'll buy one, and then when everyone's gonna be.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: This is the thing, it's no point buying it until the until the last one.
- 25:29SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 25:29SPEAKER_06: Because the last one's gonna cost like twenty quid and the entire box set is probably gonna cost twenty quid.
- 25:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then you also don't want a box set plus one.
- 25:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no.
- 25:37SPEAKER_06: Even if it's digital, I want it all to be in the same thing.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: That's just my brain.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: I can't.
- 25:43unknown: Yeah.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Um okay, so back to these.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: So we've got so it's four, then two, then three, then ten.
- 25:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: Then this surprised me, the original.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: No.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: What?
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: 55%.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: It's the seventh.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: That's That's crazy to me because you'd think is that crit uh audience is critics, critics.
- 26:09SPEAKER_06: Oh, what's audience?
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: Um I reckon audience is gonna be fairly similar, but let me see.
- 26:14SPEAKER_06: Just because how did they make another one?
- 26:16SPEAKER_06: Oh, there we go.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: How did they make another one?
- 26:18SPEAKER_06: As in like a lot of money.
- 26:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:21SPEAKER_06: So if the audience rating is higher, you'd assume they made more money.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh well I can tell you how much the first one.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Well, when did the first one release?
- 26:31SPEAKER_06: 2004?
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: 2000.
- 26:33SPEAKER_06: 2000.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, talking 2001.
- 26:36SPEAKER_06: Tokyo Drift was 2006.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 26:39SPEAKER_06: So Too Fast Too Furious, one of the worst ones.
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: Too fast, two Furious was like a year or two later.
- 26:46SPEAKER_06: Okay, fine.
- 26:47SPEAKER_06: That makes sense.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: Oh wait, I can actually tell you.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: Um 2001, 2003.
- 26:52SPEAKER_06: Okay, yeah.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: And then 2006.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: So there was like a little bit of a gap, but like not not massively.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: Um The original made.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: So its budget was 38 million.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: And it made it made its budget back opening weekend.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: Holy shit.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Good for them.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: Um so it made a what it made worldwide 207 million.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: So like that's obviously obviously there was a.
- 27:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, fine.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: It's one of four consecutive universal picture releases.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: I wonder if they release these as like collection.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: But it's one of four universal releases in 2001 to open above 40 million.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: This, Jurassic Park 3, of course, American Pie 2, and the Murray Returns.
- 27:41SPEAKER_06: All of that in the context of 2001 makes sense to me.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:46SPEAKER_06: Man, what a time for movies!
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: That is a great period.
- 27:49SPEAKER_05: What a time for movies!
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: And I saw the Murray Returns in the cinema, and I feel like I tried to sneak into American Pie 2.
- 27:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 27:57SPEAKER_06: I didn't watch the American Pie movies until a lot later.
- 28:00SPEAKER_06: I had the scummiest weekend of all time.
- 28:02SPEAKER_06: Where um I wasn't allowed to watch a lot of films growing up uh because my parents were losers.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: No, I love them, but yeah, they were You gotta make them watch them now.
- 28:12SPEAKER_06: The American Pie films.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: When they come here.
- 28:13SPEAKER_06: The worst part is they're so woke now and they've developed so much of a sense of humor, they probably find it quite funny.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah.
- 28:19SPEAKER_06: My mum would be like, ugh, yuck, and my dad would actually be like, that's funny.
- 28:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 28:22SPEAKER_06: And I was like, why didn't you let me watch that then?
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:24SPEAKER_06: Um, I had the worst.
- 28:26SPEAKER_06: So when I went to uni and was away for them for the first time, there were a lot of kids like drinking alcohol for the first time.
- 28:33SPEAKER_06: Some kids were like smoking weed for the first time.
- 28:36SPEAKER_06: There were people having sex with for the first year at uni, I stayed up till 4 a.m.
- 28:40SPEAKER_06: every day watching all of the movies that I wasn't allowed to watch as a child.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 28:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so I watched Euro Trip and all of the American Pie films on the same weekend.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the horniest week.
- 28:52SPEAKER_05: I had the like the weekend of a teenager in 2005.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: I do rem now I'm remembering a box set.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: This this may have been this must have been a pirated box then, but it was American Pie or American Pie 2, one of them.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: Euro Trip, Van Wilder.
- 29:11SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, that's a good one.
- 29:13SPEAKER_06: That's a good one.
- 29:14SPEAKER_06: Oh, all the scary scary movie box set.
- 29:16SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 29:17SPEAKER_06: It's the epitome of being alive in the early 2000s.
- 29:19SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 29:20SPEAKER_06: Scary movie box set, yeah.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: I had that.
- 29:21SPEAKER_06: Oh, they'd also have like those mega box sets that were like three DVDs that had multiple films in them.
- 29:26SPEAKER_06: So it'd be scary movies, um, those not an uh, you know what I mean?
- 29:32SPEAKER_06: Epic movie.
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:33SPEAKER_06: Um there was scary movie, epic movie.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: Date movie.
- 29:37SPEAKER_06: Date movie, that's the other one.
- 29:38SPEAKER_06: And they'd have all of those in like one mega box set.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:41SPEAKER_06: This is just a box set podcast at this point.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: I've not taught I've not had anyone come on and talk about the box sets yet.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: This is good.
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: This is great.
- 29:49SPEAKER_06: It's a key part of my childhood.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, mine too.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: And I was like, yeah, I had a lot of DVDs.
- 29:54SPEAKER_02: Not a lot of Blu-rays, but I had a lot of DVDs.
- 29:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 29:57SPEAKER_06: My dad used to travel to China for work quite a bit, so he used to come back with like better camcorder ones.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: Were they always camcorder ones for you then?
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: A lot of the time.
- 30:05SPEAKER_06: Um, no, some of the Chinese ones were legit.
- 30:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:08SPEAKER_06: Like real good ones.
- 30:09SPEAKER_02: I remember like some what one of my friends in in secondary school, so was it supposed to have been year so we'd have been 12.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, 12 or 13.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: Um, he got scary movie too before it had even come out in the UK.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: But it was like, it was like a proper version of it.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: It was on a video, a VHS.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: And he would he just like passed it round to all of us so we could watch it.
- 30:32SPEAKER_06: That's because movies released in the UK way after pretty much so long.
- 30:36SPEAKER_06: My parents have watched movies that I haven't even released in the UK yet.
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:41SPEAKER_06: Like my cousins in India watched Superman way before I did.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_06: It's I don't know why.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: I don't understand it, but like it used to be so much worse though.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: And then then it would take there was a time where it would take almost two years for it to come go from cinema to to like video.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: I remember those those were luckily I was like a little bit too young to like actually take that in, but like that was crazy.
- 31:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: Two years.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like we don't even wait.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: We barely wait two months now.
- 31:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because I remember when did Superman release this here?
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: In the summer.
- 31:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so it would have been what June June June, July?
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: June, July, maybe, yeah.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: And it's already out.
- 31:16SPEAKER_06: It's out on streaming.
- 31:18SPEAKER_06: And it's what?
- 31:18SPEAKER_06: Still August?
- 31:19SPEAKER_06: No, it's September.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: No, it's the end of September.
- 31:22SPEAKER_06: It's happening to me.
- 31:23SPEAKER_06: But it took like two months for Superman, like a big deal, like a big budget box office.
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: That's just Fantastic Four, I just saw it.
- 31:31SPEAKER_06: So yeah, it's on streaming already.
- 31:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:34SPEAKER_06: There's tons of big Bollywood movies that are on streaming so quickly as well.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: I saw I saw Weapons and then like a month later it was out.
- 31:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Might as well just wait.
- 31:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, there's no point to the thing is though, when they release on streaming, it's more expensive than going to the cinema.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:48SPEAKER_06: I mean it's uh it depends, but I get tr I get three pound cinema tickets on a weekend, so three mobile.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: Although it's to do with your old job.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
- 31:58SPEAKER_06: It's because of three mobile.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: Oh nice.
- 32:01SPEAKER_06: Everyone.
- 32:02SPEAKER_06: But get on three plus.
- 32:03SPEAKER_06: Sorry.
- 32:04SPEAKER_06: Um three uh three pound picture house tickets on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- 32:08SPEAKER_06: Picture House on City World.
- 32:09SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 32:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's a good thing.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: That is good to know.
- 32:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: Okay, I might I might have to switch to three.
- 32:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 32:14SPEAKER_06: It's a good deal.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: That is a very good deal because I we use picture house as well.
- 32:17SPEAKER_06: So Yeah.
- 32:18SPEAKER_06: And Picture House is what, like£15 normally?
- 32:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: But I do like a buy one, get one free, and that's still like£15.
- 32:24SPEAKER_06: Wait, do you get a buy one, get one free for more?
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: You there's some like sis there's some like ticketing thing, but it's still more expensive.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but that that's also like you have to go weekdays and it's like a Monday Tuesday you have to go or something like that.
- 32:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: But you know.
- 32:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: Whatever.
- 32:39SPEAKER_06: Cool.
- 32:40SPEAKER_06: All the tips and tricks on this podcast.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Like half the audience won't be able to use this because half my audience is not in the UK.
- 32:47SPEAKER_06: Nice.
- 32:47SPEAKER_06: That's that's international.
- 32:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 32:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 32:50SPEAKER_06: Mr.
- 32:50SPEAKER_06: Worldwide.
- 32:51SPEAKER_06: I don't know what to say.
- 32:53SPEAKER_06: Where are they from?
- 32:54SPEAKER_06: Most of your half your own.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: So it's it's so this is actually common of like a lot of podcasts, but like I don't know if this is interesting to to podcast listeners, but like this is so it's it's usually like if it's an English language podcast, it will be split between at least if it's not an Amer if it's not an American English language podcast, it'll be split between like 50% UK, and then it will be split between majority America, then Australia, okay, then Canada.
- 33:19SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: And then for some reason Germany.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: Germany comes up a lot in like English language ones.
- 33:25SPEAKER_06: Huh.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: It's really odd, but That's interesting.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: And I know I only know this because I've worked on so many podcasts, but like I get to see the breakdown of normal, but they all seem to be like the same statistics.
- 33:34SPEAKER_06: Weird, interesting.
- 33:35SPEAKER_06: It's very weird.
- 33:36SPEAKER_06: Because I'd expect like somewhere like Sweden and Norway.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: You would think so, wouldn't you?
- 33:39SPEAKER_06: Or like even India.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: India is usually 1% on there.
- 33:43SPEAKER_06: Hmm.
- 33:44SPEAKER_06: I I guess there's not there's not a big podcast culture in it.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: No, I guess not.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: But there was a point.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: I remember in the lockdown when I was when I did start releasing this, there was a point where I was like number one, number one film podcast in Nigeria for one week.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: Like, what where did that come from?
- 33:59SPEAKER_06: To be fair, they do speak a lot of English in Nigeria, so.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: But it was just like a random place to be like number one the film podcast, but like also in the lockdown, and like I don't know how where that came from.
- 34:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's something to put on your podcast.
- 34:11SPEAKER_06: Something to put on your podcast poster for the fringe.
- 34:14SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: Okay, so so to bring it back to the film you're here to talk about, uh so the yeah, so this.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: Wait, I just want to finish this list.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, so like uh so we got to number seven, which is the original.
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: Number six is fast nine, F9.
- 34:32SPEAKER_06: Hmm.
- 34:33SPEAKER_06: Does that make sense to me?
- 34:35SPEAKER_06: So Yeah, that does make sense to me because people thought it was too unrealistic because they fly to the moon, and I was like, oh yes, as opposed to all the other movies, which are the paradigm of truth and honesty.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: I know, exactly.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: Well, they start off original.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: They start off like fairly realistically.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, they slowly get more and more insane.
- 34:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I mean, after the first guy comes back from the dead, it's like you should know what you're watching, right?
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: Jason Statham walks out of a hospital and blows it up at one point in like seven was it seven?
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 35:04SPEAKER_06: I can't remember.
- 35:04SPEAKER_06: But yeah.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Eight, uh six, maybe.
- 35:06SPEAKER_02: Um number f yeah, it's a uh number five is F eight.
- 35:13SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: Fate of the Furious.
- 35:14SPEAKER_06: Interesting.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: Number four, it really surprised me.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Hobbs and Shaw.
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: I do not like Hobbs and Shaw.
- 35:21SPEAKER_06: It was fine.
- 35:22SPEAKER_06: It was like it scratched the itch, you know.
- 35:24SPEAKER_06: It was like, oh, something fun to watch, but oh, that's not.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: I don't even really like consider it part of it.
- 35:29SPEAKER_06: No, me neither.
- 35:30SPEAKER_06: It's like a it's a spin-off, and not really that much of a spin-off.
- 35:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_06: It's like it's a real stretch.
- 35:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: Um number three is uh Fast and Furious six.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: I like Fast and Furious.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: That's the one here.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: It's the first one with Jason's to them, isn't it?
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay, fine.
- 35:50SPEAKER_02: I really like that.
- 35:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Number two is Fast Five.
- 35:53SPEAKER_06: Interesting.
- 35:54SPEAKER_06: Why, I wonder.
- 35:56SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 35:57SPEAKER_02: I really like Five though.
- 35:59SPEAKER_06: So did I mean I found it a bit I'm quite surprised.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: Considering your love of Fast and the Furious franchise, I'm really surprised you didn't you're not that into Five.
- 36:07SPEAKER_06: I think it's the one I've maybe watched the least.
- 36:09SPEAKER_06: Interesting.
- 36:10SPEAKER_06: And I've cared about the least.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 36:12SPEAKER_06: Because I like six, because it's the first time I've had Jason State them.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:16SPEAKER_06: And I love seven because it's the most emotional one.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: I mean seven is also number one on here.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean it's the best one by a mile.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: By an inch or a mile.
- 36:26SPEAKER_06: It's the best one by a quarter mile.
- 36:29SPEAKER_06: Um, but it's I mean, it's also the best one because everyone has a lot of emotional attachment to it or whatever.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: I mean I mean, I I I often go back and I'm like, is it actually the best one or is it just the most emotional one?
- 36:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:42SPEAKER_06: Is Five the one, the first one with Jason Momor's dad?
- 36:47SPEAKER_06: The Brazilian stuff.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: It's the Brazilian stuff, yeah.
- 36:50SPEAKER_06: Hmm.
- 36:50SPEAKER_02: I don't remember any of the things.
- 36:51SPEAKER_06: Maybe I just need to rewatch five.
- 36:52SPEAKER_06: I think I just forgot a lot of five, like I didn't find it that memorable.
- 36:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's the it's the one with like the first one with Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: Like the the Yeah.
- 37:04SPEAKER_06: Which is the first one with Dwayne The Rock Johnson?
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: Five.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: Five, yeah, okay, interesting.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: So this is the thing.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: It's like it's it feels like it's the first it feels like it's the refresher for everything.
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: It's like it's it reads, it gives the it gives the the series energy again.
- 37:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: Because four is so boring.
- 37:19SPEAKER_06: Four was really boring.
- 37:20SPEAKER_06: Four was unimaginably boring.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: I can't believe they made five after four.
- 37:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but by that point, once you've made four films, you know it's like bankable, right?
- 37:28SPEAKER_06: You know there's gonna be uh incels watching, incels and me watching it.
- 37:33SPEAKER_06: So yeah.
- 37:35SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, so I'm not surprised seven is number one, but like I'm very surprised that three is number nine.
- 37:42SPEAKER_06: I just I truly think there's a couple of factors.
- 37:45SPEAKER_06: Number one, it doesn't have Vin Diesel really.
- 37:48SPEAKER_06: I mean, spoilers, but until the end.
- 37:51SPEAKER_06: It doesn't have Vin Diesel.
- 37:52SPEAKER_06: It doesn't, but and that guy is not He's fun, but he's not a very charismatic leading guy.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:00SPEAKER_06: The um the guy who's the I can't to the point where I can't remember what his name is.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: Lucas Black.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: Lucas Black is his name.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: I mean he's don't remember his name in this, and I watched it again last week.
- 38:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 38:09SPEAKER_06: He's not the most charismatic lead character.
- 38:12SPEAKER_06: Um Han dies.
- 38:16SPEAKER_06: TVD, exactly.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: I mean he does die.
- 38:19SPEAKER_02: This is the thing, he does die.
- 38:21SPEAKER_05: I mean, yes, the way they like re-engineered that was bullshit.
- 38:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it was full bullshit.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: But I'm not again, I'm I it's it's bullshit, but I'm also like, I I I love that they brought him back.
- 38:33SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 38:34SPEAKER_06: I mean, like, yeah, like he's such a good character.
- 38:36SPEAKER_06: He's my favorite character.
- 38:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, uh especially in Fast 10, which everyone seems to hate so much.
- 38:41SPEAKER_06: He's great in Fast 10.
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: He's great, he's so fun.
- 38:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_06: Um I just think after you've had films like Fast and Furious 1, obviously Too Fast, Too Furious was a little bit more disappointing compared to Fast One, even though I think it is a better film.
- 38:57SPEAKER_06: Uh I think the excitement wasn't there as much anymore.
- 39:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm like I'm like 50-50 on Too Fast, Too Furious.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't love it, I don't hate it.
- 39:06SPEAKER_02: I'm like, it's fine.
- 39:07SPEAKER_06: I think they they realize what they wanted to do a little bit more with Too Fast.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:11SPEAKER_06: Um, but then three was like a lot of people, I don't think a lot of people got why any of it, right?
- 39:18SPEAKER_06: But in terms of lore, it's in terms of building up the entire world, the most important film out of all of them.
- 39:25SPEAKER_02: It genuinely is.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: It likes it, but like they had to wreck on a lot of it, obviously.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: But like but, and obviously that had to be like this is actually 20, I think it's 2013, it's supposed to be set or something, isn't it?
- 39:38SPEAKER_06: Uh Tokyo Drift.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: It's it's actually in in like retrospective universe.
- 39:43SPEAKER_06: Oh, in the yeah, in the retrospective universe.
- 39:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:46SPEAKER_06: It's supposed to be let me find it, because it's it's something ridiculous, even though Yeah, because it doesn't make any sense because when they have um Yeah, 2013.
- 39:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but when they have the guy who's in Tokyo Drift in I think he's in eight or seven.
- 40:04SPEAKER_06: Eight, yeah.
- 40:05SPEAKER_06: He looks way too old.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:07SPEAKER_06: So none of it like but for people who are always like making fun of me for liking the Fast and Furious films, they're like, there's no plot.
- 40:15SPEAKER_06: I'm like, there's plot beyond one.
- 40:18SPEAKER_06: There's plot for ten films.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: There is plot.
- 40:20SPEAKER_06: And I'm sorry, you like Star Wars?
- 40:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:23SPEAKER_06: Watch the Fast and Furious series.
- 40:25SPEAKER_06: That film flips between the present and the.
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: You want to talk about like different taking it out of chronological order?
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: This is this is the series.
- 40:33SPEAKER_06: Also, you got what, six films in the Star Wars series that you can decide on the order?
- 40:37SPEAKER_06: How about ten?
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:38SPEAKER_06: How about ten films that you can watch in three different orders?
- 40:41SPEAKER_02: We're in a spin-off.
- 40:42SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 40:43SPEAKER_05: Anyway, sorry.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: Just saw something very interesting about this one though.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: And I'm this makes me very surprised they even got to four.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: Because this is the lowest grossing Fast and Furious film, the only one that grows under 100 million domestically and under 200 worldwide.
- 41:01SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna say it.
- 41:03SPEAKER_06: Racism.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I don't I know you're like kind of taking the piss, but like genuinely.
- 41:09SPEAKER_06: I'm only semi-taking the piss because they did not have a I don't think it's I think it's that stupid American brand of racism of the time.
- 41:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:18SPEAKER_06: Where they didn't have a problem because the Fast Review movies are, I will say this with my whole chest, some of the most diverse movies.
- 41:24SPEAKER_06: And I hate it.
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: Genuinely, genuinely they are.
- 41:27SPEAKER_06: But I think it's that stupid kind of American racism where they don't like listening to different accents because it makes them think a little bit.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:34SPEAKER_06: And I think that's what it was.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: I think also putting Tokyo in the name.
- 41:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they were like, nah, nah nah nah nah nah na nah.
- 41:40SPEAKER_06: It should be called Colorado Drifter, right?
- 41:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 41:43SPEAKER_02: Imagine Colorado NASCAR.
- 41:46SPEAKER_05: No, they're just driving through the mountains with those like snow tires.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: Hey, I would watch that.
- 41:52SPEAKER_05: I mean, I would not, I would not watch that.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, yeah.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: Also, for all of you haters, Christopher Nolan expressed his admiration of the for the Fast and Furious series.
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: And he said he has a very soft spot for this entry.
- 42:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:11SPEAKER_06: I mean, that I was using this to promote my show, being like, me and Christopher Nolan, we're on the same page.
- 42:16SPEAKER_06: We both love the Fast and Furious films.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:18SPEAKER_06: See, I there's this study that um you sound like a wanker for quoting about how when they measured like people with um high levels of um education, like advanced degrees and doctorates and stuff, uh the correlation between having like a a master's degree or doctorate and watching like the bachelorette of reality is super high.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: It's yeah, it's crazy.
- 42:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so you dumb bitches start watching Fast Severus.
- 42:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:45SPEAKER_06: I I don't think that's how it works, but I I mean I spent yesterday watching 90 Day Fiance, so yeah.
- 42:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, great.
- 42:54SPEAKER_06: Love is blind, fantastic.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so much fun.
- 42:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:59SPEAKER_02: So much fun.
- 43:00SPEAKER_05: Um You're basically studying the human condition, is what you're doing.
- 43:05SPEAKER_05: Like you and Werner Herzog, what's the difference?
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: He probably watches this.
- 43:10SPEAKER_06: Oh, yes.
- 43:11SPEAKER_06: He watches, oh my god, I found out recently he watches something fucking insane.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: Of course he does, because he's a Werner Herzog.
- 43:18SPEAKER_06: No, but he's a vr he's a fan of some insane reality TV show.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 43:22SPEAKER_06: And I cannot remember for the life of me what it is, but he watches like it's not married at first sight, but it's something like that.
- 43:29SPEAKER_06: Like he watches some he's a huge fan of some insane reality TV show.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: Jersey Shaw.
- 43:35SPEAKER_06: That's what it was.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: That's so funny.
- 43:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, I can see that as well.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: I can really see that.
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: I feel like he's an anthropologist.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: I feel like he'd love Georgia Geordie Shaw as well.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: Oh, so much, yeah.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: I just saw some other thing that came up when I looked for that and he says Werner Herzog watched thirty minutes of Barbie and asked, Could it be that the world of Barbie is sheer hell?
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: And the first the highest rated comment on there is I would watch a documentary about Herdstock watching Bobby.
- 44:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so would I, for sure.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: I would love that.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: That man fascinates me.
- 44:12SPEAKER_06: Oh no, I'm obsessed with him.
- 44:15SPEAKER_06: You see, he started a TikTok.
- 44:16SPEAKER_02: No.
- 44:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he started well, Instagram or TikTok.
- 44:19SPEAKER_06: I think he has both now.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, of course.
- 44:21SPEAKER_06: He's got like two posts on it.
- 44:22SPEAKER_06: One of them is about like cooking a steak on an outdoor grill.
- 44:26SPEAKER_06: It's fascinating.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, I love him so much.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: It's like when um David Lynch had a had a TikTok and he was just all about weather.
- 44:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:33SPEAKER_05: Hero.
- 44:35SPEAKER_02: I yeah, I love those.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: When they just when they just do like random stuff like that.
- 44:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Um another bit of trivia about this is because they had poor test screenings of this movie.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: So this this had really bad test screenings.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: And I feel like it's because people weren't going into it expecting the pre previous people.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: They they had to like so they had to bring back Vindy's for a cameo.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: But the only re the only way he would do it is if they would relinquish the rights to uh the Chronicles of Riddick and give him the rights to it.
- 45:05SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 45:06SPEAKER_05: Oh, I'm obsessed with this entire Yeah, go.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: It's amazing.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go on with the plot.
- 45:11SPEAKER_02: But then yeah, that's the only way he would make that's the only way he could make Riddick independently.
- 45:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:16SPEAKER_06: So he's only been doing the Fast and Furious films because he's obsessed with the Chronicles of Riddick and wants to make those films.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: That man is the biggest nerd.
- 45:24SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: He he's obsessed with DD, he's obsessed with Ridd, Chronicles of Riddick, he loves all of it.
- 45:29SPEAKER_05: Me and Vin Diesel are the same, but I'm playing Boulder's Gate right now.
- 45:32SPEAKER_05: One day somebody will pay me to play that so I can uh no the other way of somebody will pay me enough to do comedy so I can play Boulders Gate.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:39SPEAKER_05: I can finance a Baldur's Gate live action remake film.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: Like he truly loves the Fast and Furious franchise, but he but he loves indeed and he loves This is what I mean.
- 45:51SPEAKER_05: There's so much to this, everyone has so much nuance.
- 45:55SPEAKER_06: Like Jason Statham being like an Olympic diver and now being like an action diverse.
- 45:59SPEAKER_06: I forgot about that.
- 46:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: Olympic diver Olympic diver to like bit part in in like Guy Ritchie movies.
- 46:06SPEAKER_02: You suddenly taking off as like the biggest action star in the world at one point.
- 46:11SPEAKER_06: And the thing is, like what I love about people like I'm not saying this lightly when people like this genuinely inspire me, where I'm like, that's all I want for my life.
- 46:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:20SPEAKER_06: To do a job that I genuinely think is fun.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 46:23SPEAKER_06: Jason Statham, I would kill to fight a shark.
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: Jason Statham has the most fun career because he does not give a fuck what he does.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: And he he like fully embraced his like B movie status now, like action star.
- 46:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I I was on my period when I watched the Meg 2.
- 46:39SPEAKER_06: Um, and I started crying because I was so jealous of Jason Statham being like, that's all I want for my career.
- 46:45SPEAKER_05: I want to be able to fight a giant shark.
- 46:47SPEAKER_05: Why don't dreams come true for brown women?
- 46:49SPEAKER_05: And then it became about race in my head.
- 46:51SPEAKER_06: Um, but that's all I wanted, being like watching Jason Statham in Meg 2, be like, oh, this is my dream job.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: I would love that.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: It was so much fun.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: And this is like where you were talking about, we were talking off air, but about um how did this get made and like all of those, like they talk about the kind of movies that I would just love to make.
- 47:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: I would just love to be in those because they're so fun.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: And like they get all these, they get this like this cult status behind them, and it's like now you got fucking Tommy Wiseo touring the world every day.
- 47:20SPEAKER_06: He's so rich now.
- 47:21SPEAKER_02: He's so rich off of it.
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: And like he just he just like all he does is go to a cinema like he'll go to each cinema, go in there, answer the same questions.
- 47:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah, a million dollars immediately.
- 47:32SPEAKER_06: That's my dream.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 47:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: Sell a load of merch.
- 47:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: Fuck with people.
- 47:38SPEAKER_06: I d honestly, that's all I want for myself.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:42SPEAKER_06: I remember the craze of everyone wanting to learn how to drift.
- 47:44SPEAKER_06: But and that lasted for years after.
- 47:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, it's become it's become synonymous with like with with cars now.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: And like that was not a thing.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: You had to like we we forget this this was not a thing until this movie, really.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: But then people did not talk about drifting.
- 47:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because people, yeah, because this is the first big movie.
- 48:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because the first two Fast and Furious films don't talk about drifting that much.
- 48:04SPEAKER_06: This is when he learns how to drift.
- 48:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:08unknown: Yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_06: The first two movies were basically like NOS or whatever.
- 48:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was the thing.
- 48:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: And I remember think, but again, like that wasn't all NOS was also not really a thing that was brought up until the Fast and Furious movies.
- 48:20SPEAKER_02: Like it was a that it was from time to time someone would have it, but like it wasn't really a thing.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: They really made it a thing.
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: Um I I talked with Milo Edwards on this about Gone in 60 Seconds, and like that came out a year before Fast and the Furious.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: What a shame.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: And it's just like that I I was saying, like, the reason that wasn't successful around that time, like it just got in there too early.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: It just got in there slightly too early, and like it would because cause I believe they use something around like Nos in in that movie, but they don't really explore it that much.
- 48:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 48:52SPEAKER_02: But it's basically the same plot.
- 48:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 48:55SPEAKER_06: But I think that also Fast and Furious was right place, right time.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:01SPEAKER_06: But interesting enough where you're like, what is this?
- 49:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:06SPEAKER_06: Who are these people?
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: They were also none of them were big stars at the time.
- 49:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 49:12SPEAKER_06: And it's like kind of comedy was like an indie film.
- 49:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: It was it was like it wasn't an indie film, but it was like that kind of low but low mid-budget film that doesn't exist anymore.
- 49:23SPEAKER_06: Also, if you think of the titles of these films and the target audience who are like 15-year-old boys, a 15-year-old boy's gonna be watching Gone in 60 seconds, which sounds like Gone with the Wind, or exactly.
- 49:34SPEAKER_02: Just straight up, you get it, you get what it is.
- 49:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: And also like this, so this uh these films, there's something strange, there's something odd about these movies that where they will have really good directors behind them.
- 49:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like um Justin Justin Lynn.
- 49:52SPEAKER_06: Justin Lynn.
- 49:53SPEAKER_02: So this is the first Tokyo Director was the first one for him.
- 49:55SPEAKER_06: He's phenomenal.
- 49:56SPEAKER_06: He's a great director.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: He's a really great director.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: Two Fast Too Furious, John Singleton, director of Boys in the Hood.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: That man is the first first black person to be director to be nominated for an Oscar for directing.
- 50:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:11SPEAKER_02: And then he went on to make Two Fast Too Furious.
- 50:14SPEAKER_06: I mean you could see the you could see his vision behind it as well when you watch Two Fast Too Furious.
- 50:19SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 50:19SPEAKER_06: All those like bouncing cars.
- 50:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: Like that's the and then Justin Lynn came in for this one, and thank God he did.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: And this is the first one with Chris Morgan as the writer.
- 50:28SPEAKER_06: Right, yeah.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: And he's the one that I feel like he revamped the whole thing.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: I think he I think he came in and was like, I know exactly what to do.
- 50:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:36SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna create a franchise.
- 50:38SPEAKER_02: He's like, this is the franchise, and like Chris Morgan coming in is the best thing about four of them, I think.
- 50:43SPEAKER_02: I truly believe that.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's just the rock, I think it's Chris Morgan coming in.
- 50:47SPEAKER_02: I think he's so he's such a good writer for these movies.
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: And I think he's so he knows how to write these characters, he knows he knows what's fun.
- 50:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:56SPEAKER_06: I also think um it was if he if they hadn't had a change, if he hadn't come in.
- 51:04SPEAKER_06: I mean, I'm sure somebody else may have been able to do this, but I think what the the big change that happened post-Tokyo Drift was they were like we there's a world that exists.
- 51:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 51:14SPEAKER_06: Until Tokyo Drift, it was very much like this is the same premise.
- 51:18SPEAKER_06: So they're all gonna be Fast and Furious films, and we'll have one person that's been in the previous one that'll come to post Tokyo Drift was the first time they were like, No, we have a world, we have like an entire world that exists, and we have we can build out into it.
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:31SPEAKER_06: And I think that changed everything.
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely.
- 51:33SPEAKER_02: And it was so it's again, like this this movie is so much fun.
- 51:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:37SPEAKER_02: It's so like it's so silly and it's like it's so ridiculous, but like as long as you don't watch it with the with the lens of like, oh, this is going to be this is going to be intellectually stimulating.
- 51:48SPEAKER_06: None of them are.
- 51:49SPEAKER_06: The the point is to have a good time.
- 51:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: And I like the main guy in it, um, Lucas Black, he's sh Sean Boswell, his name is in this.
- 51:59SPEAKER_02: He's he's a guy from Alabama, but his high school is I wanna say I wanna say it's California, he's living in at the time.
- 52:09SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: It's undisclosed, but like somewhere in the US, yeah.
- 52:13SPEAKER_02: But the man looks he looks my age.
- 52:17SPEAKER_06: He he's comfortably in his mid-30s minimum when these films are made, yeah.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: He's actually not though, that's the surprising thing.
- 52:25SPEAKER_02: He's like 21, which is insane.
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: Like I I really had to see that to believe.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: I really had to read that to believe it.
- 52:32SPEAKER_06: I cannot understand how that man, yeah, that he does.
- 52:35SPEAKER_02: Because everyone thinks he's so much older.
- 52:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 52:37SPEAKER_06: But then also I think Paul Walker actually looks younger than him.
- 52:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he does.
- 52:40SPEAKER_06: At that point in time.
- 52:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: It's the hair.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's the hair, unfortunately.
- 52:45SPEAKER_02: But then also, like, I think everyone around him, all the teenagers teenagers around him are also like a lot older.
- 52:50SPEAKER_02: Like the guy from Home Improvement that's like the bully at the start of the movie, he looks so much older.
- 52:56SPEAKER_06: It was that classic thing right back in the day when I mean I'm re-watching 90210 at those people.
- 53:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's like that's that's like the epitome of it, isn't it?
- 53:04SPEAKER_06: Of yeah.
- 53:04SPEAKER_06: You watch even when you watch season one of 90210, you see like Naomi Clark or whatever, and you're like, this is a woman who's at least 25.
- 53:11SPEAKER_06: Like, fuck off.
- 53:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 53:13SPEAKER_06: Like every it was that classic era of time where I mean One Tree Hill, everyone One Tree Hill, oh.
- 53:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, vampi I know vampire diaries is fine because they're not supposed to be in high school, but every it was that era where people would play these high school students and they all looked like in their mid-20s minimum.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: Minimum.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: And it was so it was so but again, like you just got to suspend disbelief with it.
- 53:34SPEAKER_02: But it's and it's it's actually funny when you like watch him do this and he's like trying to trying to be a high schooler.
- 53:40SPEAKER_02: It's so funny because he's so out of place.
- 53:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:43SPEAKER_02: And then I think it adds to I think it I think it actually helps when it adds to with him going to Tokyo and being out of place in the Yeah.
- 53:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because I mean everyone in his high school in Tokyo.
- 53:54SPEAKER_06: I mean, actually, to be fair, even the women in Tokyo Drift don't look like teenagers.
- 54:00SPEAKER_06: They look like women, like full-on women.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the women don't look younger, younger in the.
- 54:07SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's probably a good thing.
- 54:09SPEAKER_06: It's probably good that none of them look like children in this film, but drag racing and drinking alcohol.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: It would also be yeah, against next to him as well.
- 54:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: But then the the the thing I don't understand is how old is Han supposed to be?
- 54:22SPEAKER_06: No one knows.
- 54:22SPEAKER_06: I think he's supposed to be in his early 20s, but just again, looks so much older.
- 54:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:29SPEAKER_06: No one knows how any I think the point of these films is the age is also a fantasy.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:34SPEAKER_06: Like the age is as much of a fantasy as anyone else.
- 54:37SPEAKER_06: Like, when you watch Fast Ten, that um what's her name?
- 54:42SPEAKER_06: She's a famous actress, but she was she plays Vin Diesel's grandmother.
- 54:47SPEAKER_02: Helemiron.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: No, no, Helmirin, sorry.
- 54:49SPEAKER_06: Uh in Fast Ten, the uh what's her name?
- 54:52SPEAKER_06: She's also in that um Latino sitcom.
- 54:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, um Oh god, what is her name?
- 54:59SPEAKER_02: It's Rita Moreno.
- 55:01SPEAKER_06: Rita, yeah.
- 55:02SPEAKER_06: She plays Vin Diesel's grandmother, and I was like, Yeah, that's insulting.
- 55:07SPEAKER_06: That is insulting to her.
- 55:08SPEAKER_06: That is that's crazy.
- 55:11SPEAKER_06: That she Vin Diesel's supposed to be young enough that his grandmother's still alive.
- 55:15SPEAKER_06: That is no.
- 55:17SPEAKER_06: No, no, no, absolutely not.
- 55:19SPEAKER_02: These films have been going this is like this universe has no time like proper time timeline.
- 55:27SPEAKER_02: There's no it none of it makes sense.
- 55:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: But again, this this is the one that kind of sets up the rest of the rest of like the way they can wreck on everything.
- 55:36SPEAKER_02: So like basically Han Hun is killed at the end.
- 55:41SPEAKER_02: No, Z he's not killed at the end of this, technically, like he dies in a car explosion.
- 55:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 55:48SPEAKER_02: But then you find out in six that it was Jason Statham that did it as payback for to Vin Diesel.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:00SPEAKER_02: But then it's even rec on even further to show that he faked his death.
- 56:06SPEAKER_06: It's the thing is, for all the people that complain about shit like this, I'm like, you've not grown up on Bollywood, and it shows.
- 56:14SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, oh this is that's why you take yourself so seriously.
- 56:17SPEAKER_06: Watch some grow up on Bollywood and then come and talk to me about how this is ridiculous.
- 56:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:22SPEAKER_06: I've been watching people die and come back to life since I was a small child.
- 56:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 56:26SPEAKER_02: And also, you know what?
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: You allow it for all your Marvel movies, you allow it for all your DC movies.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: Like they can go and come back, and whenever they want, you got fucking Robert Downey Jr.
- 56:35SPEAKER_02: coming back as another character.
- 56:37SPEAKER_02: Like Right.
- 56:38SPEAKER_06: Or like uh even Star Wars, the amount of stupid shit that happens in Star Wars.
- 56:43SPEAKER_06: Oh, you expect me to believe that this green man who can barely get a grasp on one language is the fountain of wisdom.
- 56:48SPEAKER_06: Like, fuck off.
- 56:49SPEAKER_06: You know what I mean?
- 56:50SPEAKER_02: And also, like we know we know that like Harrison Ford will come back one day as well.
- 56:54SPEAKER_02: Like, you know.
- 56:54SPEAKER_06: Oh, for sure.
- 56:55SPEAKER_06: Also, the whole thing about like you can fully believe that they didn't know they were siblings and they were fucking whatever the I can't remember what Star Wars was.
- 57:03SPEAKER_06: But not quite, but I mean something like that, right?
- 57:07SPEAKER_06: They fall in love or something, but then she fucks off with Han Solo, but she dies.
- 57:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, you're like skipping a long skipping decades.
- 57:19SPEAKER_06: Anyway, my point is this these films don't fuck around with any incest.
- 57:23SPEAKER_02: So No, and thank God.
- 57:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 57:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's no incest in the Fast and the Furious.
- 57:28SPEAKER_06: So if you want good Christian values, watch the Fast and Furious film.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, this is such a Christian this is so Christian coded.
- 57:35SPEAKER_06: The problem is this film is very Christian-coded.
- 57:37SPEAKER_06: It's very ver virginal in a lot of its approach too.
- 57:40SPEAKER_06: I also like that because I find a lot of romance plot lines take away from films.
- 57:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:44SPEAKER_06: So I'm like, I don't care if you love them.
- 57:47SPEAKER_06: Just get get on.
- 57:48SPEAKER_06: Like every the what I liked about the newest Mission Impossible film, there was no like pointless love story.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 57:53SPEAKER_06: I was like, no.
- 57:54SPEAKER_02: Because they know they had to wrap it up.
- 57:55SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 57:55SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I'm I know what I'm watching these films for.
- 57:58SPEAKER_06: I'm watching these films so Tom Cruise can get on six different modes of transport and fall off all of them.
- 58:02SPEAKER_06: I'm not watching it to watch him for a lot.
- 58:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:05SPEAKER_06: I want to see him run.
- 58:07SPEAKER_06: I don't want to see him like seduce a woman.
- 58:09SPEAKER_06: That's not what these films are for.
- 58:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:11SPEAKER_06: And I think Fast and Furious knows about that.
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: Like obviously they have like kissing scenes or whatever, but it's so they so then they really don't do anything.
- 58:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:20SPEAKER_02: There's like one.
- 58:22SPEAKER_02: There's there's only one kind of couple that are like have have been there the whole time.
- 58:27SPEAKER_06: Well, no, it's there's two, but like Ludacris and um Tyrese.
- 58:32SPEAKER_06: No.
- 58:34SPEAKER_06: Natalie, uh whatever.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: Oh no, I was thinking of Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez as well.
- 58:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but I mean they've been since the start, but now there's ludicrous and um what's her face.
- 58:43SPEAKER_02: And then I was also thinking of but I was also thinking of uh Paul Walker and um Oh yeah, Mia.
- 58:48SPEAKER_06: I guess they technically still a couple of the the world of the franchise.
- 58:52SPEAKER_06: That's what I mean.
- 58:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: They're the ones they kind of focused on, and then they just they but they don't really focus on it too much.
- 58:57SPEAKER_06: Also, I like how they're still like pushing ahead with this whole Brian still alive thing.
- 59:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, I know, I know.
- 59:03SPEAKER_06: Like it's and like his child, his literal child, um no, not his child, his nephew's in trouble.
- 59:10SPEAKER_06: His wife is getting beaten up by these like mish mercenaries, and he's like, Oh, sorry, I was at the beach, and it's like, what?
- 59:20SPEAKER_02: He just doesn't want to be a part of the the car heist anymore.
- 59:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but to what to what extent?
- 59:26SPEAKER_05: Like, your wife got punched in the face, dude.
- 59:29SPEAKER_02: I've heard they're using his brother again for the next one.
- 59:32SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, I can't wait.
- 59:33SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be chaos.
- 59:34SPEAKER_06: Uh the way in which I love a gimmick, I love a gimmick.
- 59:38SPEAKER_06: Every time there's a special appearance, I'm like, yes, this is all I want from films ever.
- 59:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, in the in seven, when it's like you can tell it's when it you can tell they've just like put his face onto it.
- 59:49SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I love a tryer.
- 59:51SPEAKER_02: He's just standing there like.
- 59:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know.
- 59:54SPEAKER_06: I obsessed with it.
- 59:57SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 59:58SPEAKER_06: Like I love shit like that.
- 59:59SPEAKER_06: Anything with it.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah, when people are like, I sometimes will watch a film and I'll Google Easter eggs and then remember the Easter eggs that I had no knowledge about until after I watched the films, and then enjoy the film even more from the memory of that.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: Do you know the do you know the Wesley's nights Blade 3 one?
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_02: You okay, so this is this is where I'll throw a picture up on the screen, but like I might have to shut up throw a video up on the screen, but like it's um Wesley's nights in Blade 3.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_02: He was so he was such a dick on set.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: But there was like for no reason at all.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_02: But like he didn't get on with the director, basically, and um there was a scene where he was supposed to lie there and um and he was supposed to be looking at the camera.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_02: He refused to have his eyes open, so they CGI'd eyes onto and it's so obvious.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_06: Oh Jesus Christ.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_02: They put eyes on top of his like closed eyes.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_06: None of this was necessary, like none of this was necessary.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_02: But it's just like anytime they have to do stuff like that, it's so funny.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm trying to think.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_02: There's there's some movie recently where they had to I can't remember, it was some big movie, but they like CGI the mouth that they changed someone's huge movie and they changed the mouth for one line.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_02: And you can see where the it's like a mouth that doesn't fit onto I can't I have no clue what this is.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: But then they also did it with um there was a point with the Henry Cavill's Superman because he had a moustache.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_06: Did they CGI it out?
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_02: They had to CGI it out.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_06: They didn't even let him like they didn't make him shave it off.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: No, they didn't, because he had to like do reshoots for something else and he had to have the moustache.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_06: Oh shit, did I know her then?
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_02: It's something or or he had to do reshoots for Superman, it might have been, and that's why.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_06: Oh, right.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: So there was no point in him shaving it off, but like it looks ridiculous.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_06: What could it have been?
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_06: Man from Uncle, maybe?
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: Or it might have been Mission Impossible.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_06: I was gonna say Mission Impossible, yeah.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_02: But it was it's ridiculous.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_06: He's great at Mission Impossible.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he is.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's gone arms.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so good.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_02: He's the only person that lock and load his arms.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that bathroom fighting scene.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_02: It's so funny.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_06: Huge fan.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_06: Uh it's like there's a few scenes like that.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_06: I love that scene.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_06: And it was the original reason why I love the transporter films where I was too young to be watching Jason Statham strip fight.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_06: Every transporter film would have at least one scene where he'd use his suit and he'd strip his suit while fighting, and I was like, this is peak cinema, this is art.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_02: That's no Jackie Chan.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_06: This is the female gaze.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_02: And I'm thinking about Transporter made me think of crank as well.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_06: Crank is great.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_06: Crank is amazing.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_02: Crank is like the height of just like embracing insanity.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, crank is phenomenal.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_02: That's probably how he got ended up getting into the Fast and Furious franchise.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_06: And then I love how you randomly would do just like Guy Ritchie films as well.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, of course, because he's got that's what got it started.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_06: It's just Jason Statham's world and we're living in it.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_02: I can't believe no one's ever done a Jason Statham film on here.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_06: Shame.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_02: Okay, so like to finish up then, so the the Tokyo Drift is do you think it's the most fun of all of the Fast and Furious movies, or do you is it where would you rank it?
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_06: In out of all the Fast and Furious, number one, for sure.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_06: Because I think it's like a mi every film is an I sound like a wanker, but every film is an experience, right?
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_06: Soundtrack, colours, soundtrack, lighting, action.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_06: Everything is perfect with this film.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_02: Soundtrack is genuinely still so good now.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_06: Also, there's no way you can't put this film first, because without this film, the others wouldn't have existed.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_06: So there's no point in putting like eight first.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_06: It wouldn't have existed without three.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_06: It's like the old testament.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_02: I completely agree.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_02: Okay, so to to to finish up then, like let's let's talk about the reverse of this, which is the movie that you um that is well reviewed that you've teased earlier, that is well reviewed and well loved that you actually think is a bad movie.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_06: Arrival.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_06: Arrival sucks.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_06: I hate arrival.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_06: Arrival is garbage.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_06: I hate that film.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_06: You cannot, any film that tries to explain time travel, I'm like instant no.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_06: Tenet, terrible film.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_02: Tenet, I hate you.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_06: Interstellar, boring as fuck.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_06: Um arrival, terrible.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_06: Hate arrival.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_02: I've talked about my hate of like a lot of Chris of Nola films before, but like I I love Arrival.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_06: I know, I know.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_06: Most people love arrival.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_06: I found it really boring.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_06: I found that the entire story didn't make sense, the whole like circular, she knew this because she did this, because she knew this, because she did this.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_06: I find it frustrating and lazy.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_02: It's yeah, I I I completely get the hate for it.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_02: I completely get why pe why you hate it and why a lot quite a few people I've heard hate it, but like, yeah, it's not come off and here before, I don't think.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_02: But like, yeah, I I I think it's so interesting.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_06: I just like I find so I think I say this a lot because of the kind of human being I am.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_06: But I like time travel films that don't ever explain time travel.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_02: Sure, I get that.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_02: And yeah, I I And the second they start to explain it, it falls apart.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_02: It does fall apart when you when you try to explain the time travel.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: I think but I think Arrival is just so well made.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_02: What I will say for Arrival is incredible.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_06: The visuals, the cinematography, the soundtrack, even phenomenal.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_06: The acting, even.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, really good.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_06: The plot is so annoying to me that I'm able to discount all of those things to be like, I will never watch that film ever again in my life.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_02: It's the thing that piss like it's it's the thing that pisses me off about it is the is the fact that Amy Adams not only didn't win an Oscar for it, she didn't even get nominated for this movie.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_06: I mean she was phenomenal.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_02: She's incredible for it.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_06: What I will say, like, I think I'm very fair in my hatred for this film, which I will appreciate that she's really good.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_06: And I will say that she should have been nominated just because you watch the film and you're like, most of this film she had to perform by herself in front of a green screen and she managed to do what she did.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_06: Like no, still.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_06: Hate the film.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_06: But I think she's amazing and she should have been nominated.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_06: There's plenty of films I don't like that were nominated for Oscar.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_06: Why shouldn't our rival be one of them?
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_02: It was also like a year that she could have easily been nominated as well.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_06: What else was nominated that year?
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_02: It was now I'm curious.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_06: La La Land.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_02: Is this 2016?
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_02: It might have actually been La La Land.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_02: Fuck off.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_02: Um 2017 Oscars.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's the it's the year of La La Land.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_03: La La Land returns!
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_02: So yeah, okay, so like looking at this list, Emma Stone won for La La Land.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_02: Then Isabel Hooper for L.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_02: Ruth Neger For what?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_06: For L?
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_02: L.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_06: How are we spelling this?
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_02: E L L E.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_06: I don't even know what the hell that is.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_02: Ruth Neger for Loving, Nathalie, Natalie Portman for Jackie, and Meryl Streep for Florence Foster Jenkins.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_02: A movie no one has talked about since it came out.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_06: I what I will say about Florence Foster Jenkins is very enjoyable.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_06: I don't think she deserved to be nomin I think she deserved to be nominated for Florence Foster Jenkins as much as she deserved to be nominated for Julie and Julia, which is not at all.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_06: She's a great character actress.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_02: She doesn't need these nominations.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_06: She doesn't need the nomination, and Florence Foster Jenkins is just there is no requirement for anyone to be nominated for that film.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_06: Have you seen Julie and Julia?
- 1:07:34unknown: Yeah.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_04: It's a great film.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_04: It's fine.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_06: But again, she doesn't deserve a nomination for playing Julia H.L.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_06: Also, I would argue Natalie Portman for Jackie, not deserved.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_06: Sorry, what were you gonna say?
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_02: I've just realized something.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_02: Julie and Julia.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_02: Who is the other person?
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_02: Amy Adams.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_05: Amy Adams should have been nominated for Julie and Julia.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: I think she was.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_05: No fucker.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_05: There is no way.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_02: I know Meryl Street was.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_05: For Julie and Julia.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: Amy Adams has had like six nominations.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_05: I cannot believe that anyone was nominated for Julie and Julia.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_05: I thought that film was like, it's complicated.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_05: That's the same vein as like.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_02: No, she wasn't nominated for Julia and Julia.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_02: Oh thank God.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_02: She was nominated for June Bug, Doubt, The Fighter, The Master, American Hustle, and Vice.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_06: American Hustle is so confusing as a concept to me.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_02: So bad.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_02: I really hate it.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_06: I hate American Hustle.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_06: I despise that film with my whole heart.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_06: You know what I do like though?
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_06: Vice.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_06: I enjoyed Vice.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_06: I love those.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_02: I didn't like Vice either.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_06: I think I enjoy them in the same way I enjoy Runaway Jewelry.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_06: It's like just, or the way in which I enjoy the newsroom.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_06: You know, it's just like some guy who's read the dictionary writes film for stupid people who have not read the dictionary.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_06: Like I get it.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_06: Films like that.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_06: I love like that smommy smug.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_02: Well see, I like the big short.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_06: I like the big short.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_02: I really like the big short.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_02: And then I didn't like Vice.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_06: I think Vice, they took it to the next level.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_02: And then I didn't like um Don't Look Up, his other one.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_06: I hated Don't Look Up.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_06: I found it really preachy.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_02: But I think he's he lent into it the preachiness too much, and I think he got worse and worse over this over his films.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_06: No, Don't Look Up was insufferable.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_06: I was like, oh, shut the fuck up.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_06: We're all we're all dying as you make this.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_06: Your film has added to the garbage that's sitting on this planet that is about to explode.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_02: Okay, so arrival.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_02: It was a big thing.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_02: Arrival.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_06: I would say arrival.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, Tenet, I think I've just had less thoughts about, but arrival.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_02: I just really I can't stand tenant.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_02: I think it's so boring.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_06: It's very boring.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_02: And it that again, that's that's one where they try and explain it, and I'm like, no, fuck off.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_02: I don't care.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_06: You know what Tenet would have been a good movie if it was Looper?
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_02: Looper is amazing.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_06: But Tenet and Looper, when you think about like if you strip away everything, the base plot, almost the same.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: But Looper is amazing.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_02: Looper is so well made.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_02: And then again, like but then that's like Ryan Johnson.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_02: I think that's that's him.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_02: I think he's so I think he's so good.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_06: Knives Out.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_02: Knives Out.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_06: The next one coming out in November.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_02: Next month, maybe.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_02: October.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_02: Oh no, it's next next month is a London Film Festival, though.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_02: That's what it is.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_02: I'm not going.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_02: I can't go.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_02: It's like the world premiere or something.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_02: Fair enough.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_06: I think it's all out on in like probably in November maybe.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a Netflix as well.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_06: I can't wait.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_06: I love a knives I feel.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, they're great.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_02: They're so much fun.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_02: I think this I think I love a murder mystery.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_06: Oh, same.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_06: All of Kevin, I was gonna say Kevin Spacey.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_06: Kenneth Branow's um Agatha Christie ones, loved all of them.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, see.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_06: Apart from Death and Dile, I hated Death and Nile.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, because it's it's um what's her name?
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_06: Galgado.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_06: Galgado, yeah.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_06: But she's not the only reason, but she's a big part of the reason.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_02: The only and to bring it back to this, the only bad thing about these movies Galgado.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_06: Oh my god, I cannot.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_02: The only character I cannot stand, genuinely.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_06: I there's no purpose to her.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_06: Apart from being a love interest for Han.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_02: Okay, and then they don't there's no there's no chem chemistry.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_06: I've never seen her have chemistry with anyone.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_02: No, she doesn't have chemistry with anyone.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_02: But also, like, what is this forced chemistry here?
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_06: You know who has good chemistry?
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_06: Han and Jason Statham.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_02: Han and anyone, mostly.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_02: So the fact that she can't have chemistry with him, that shows how bad she is.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_06: Um but murder on the Orient Express can then.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_06: I love any who who done it.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Clue.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_06: Clue.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_06: Clue's great.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_06: Clue's fantastic.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's so many.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_02: I can't think I can't even think of anymore.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_02: But there's so many.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the old um Hokio Piro ones were also really good.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, those are great.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_02: Okay.

- 1:11:44SPEAKER_02: We talked about a lot of movies.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_02: And a lot of the franchise, and a lot of the Fran Fast and Furious.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_02: So, like if you ha if you've never seen the Fast and Furious franchise, I highly suggest watching them.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_02: Watch them from the beginning.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_02: Don't don't start a Tokyo Drift, even though it's well no, that wouldn't even make sense because it's not the first in the in the series.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_02: Um the first in the series is the first one.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I highly suggest going and watching them because they are ridiculous.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_02: Go in with like just turn your brain off.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_06: Make a weekend out of it.

- 1:12:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_02: Why have the I don't know why they I don't know if don't think they've ever done it.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_06: I don't think though there's a there's a Venn diagram that exists between Prince Charles Cinema and Fast and Furious.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_02: Why would you say that?
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_02: They show some they show they show some B movies sometimes.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
