- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey, I'm a Christian life coach, and today I am your host.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: So I'm excited to be here.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: I have a lot to share with you.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: This is episode seven, and I'm going to dive more into that in a minute, but I just want to share with you real quick that I love to share the joy of the Lord and all that God has to offer us.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: It just is so exciting.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And I really hope and want to help people that um desperately need to crush some strongholds by breaking some bondages.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm glad you're here today.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And I can't wait till we dive into this episode.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Um, episode seven is titled, Who Has Ever Faced Fear?
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: This is one of a four-part series.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, the reason I chose to break this into four parts is because fear to me is the hardest stronghold to crush.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: There's so much involved in having fear.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: But I'm so excited to talk about this subject because the enemy will hate it.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: The enemy wants to keep us in fear, and not only in fear, but the wrong kind of fear.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: So, once again, who has ever faced fear?
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I'm sure everyone out there has.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So that seems like kind of like a rhetorical question, so to speak.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Who is who has given fear the power over our minds?
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Who gave fear the power over our minds?
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: We have.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: We have literally given power over to fear.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: So if we are struggling with fear, it's because we've allowed the power of fear to control us instead of us controlling the fear.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Um, fear is a spiritual and a psychological stronghold.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: It can trap us into being stuck or even frozen, like completely frozen in time.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: It can be paralyzing or it can be the opposite and it can be super reactive.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: We can just be outlandish, okay?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: This stronghold can change a person so gravely if it's not understood.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: The stronghold of fear needs to be crushed.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: So let's start with the basics.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Let's just go right into just the basics of this.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: What is the actual definition of fear?
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Well, I did I decided to do what everyone does, and I Googled it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: I know what fear means to me, but I was curious as to what Google was going to tell me.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And this is what Google said.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Google said it's an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So, what that tells me is that based on what you believe in, based on your emotions during an experience, will trigger whether or not you have fear over the situation.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Fear is a very complex emotion.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: There are some good benefits to fear, such as it can be vital in a survival situation, often giving us the sense to avoid danger or allow one to have instinct to protect ourselves.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: When when we see danger coming, we go into a protective state.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: That's the right kind of fear.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: That's a good kind of fear.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: And it's okay to have that fear.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Then it can also be detrimental.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: However, excessive or irrational, fear can be deliberating and lead to anxiety disorders.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Seriously, people get anxiety because they're so afraid all the time.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Anxiety is another stronghold.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: So can you see how fear can even cause strongholds to develop in your life besides fear itself?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It can create multiple strongholds.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: So I ask you this.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I want to ask you this.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: What fears do we need to crush?
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: And which fears should we actually cling to?
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Let's look at what fear we should cling to to start.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: It's important, matter of fact, it's a life-changing fact.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: So I shared with you already what Google said about fear.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: But what does the Bible say about fear?
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: What does the Bible say about fear?
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, if you have your Bibles today, I will hope, oops, I hope that you get your Bible out.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: I have my Bible right here.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: I always have my Bible right with me.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And so if you have your Bible, we are going to be getting into this, okay?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: I want to share something.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: I I did a little bit of research on on the word fear.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And I wanted some information because I like I like to look up stuff, okay?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I like to learn, I like new um challenges.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So in the King James Version, because that's usually what I'm reading, or the New King James, the Bible, um, the word fear is mentioned quite a few times, like a lot, a lot, and I will tell you right now with 100% certainty, I do not know how many times for myself because I have not counted them.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, but I did do some researching because that's what I like to do, and I found some varying numbers that um are within a certain range.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: So they're close enough.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: But the one I decided to go with was the Bible study site.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: So the numbers that I found were there's 400 words, there's 385 words, or there's 365.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: So I picked 385 because it's right in the middle, and I thought, why not?
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, because I don't honestly know the number, but I'm just gonna stick with that.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: So, and that came from the Bible study site.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: So just to let you know where I got that information.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: It also has other words besides just the word fear.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: So the word feared is 74 times, the word fearest is three times, the word fear if is 20 times, fearful is 11, fearing is eight, and fears is four.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, the phrase fear not appears 71 times in the King James.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: While there's while there's other variations like do not be afraid or be not afraid, these add to that total, and they kind of make up that number, the 385 number.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So sometimes if you're looking up just the word fear and you don't find it, it's because they use a different um uh way of saying the word fear, like do not be afraid.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Say that means don't don't have fear, okay?
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: So let's take it one step further, though, shall we?
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: I want to go a little bit further before we dive into some scripture, okay?
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: What are the different types of fear that are actually mentioned in the Bible?
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Because there's more than just one type of fear, okay?
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: There's um number one is fear of the Lord, and I think that is the most important fear that we need to learn about.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Number two is the fear of man, okay, the spirit of fear, fear of failure, even fear of nature, fear of death or serious danger, and fear of just the unknown.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Kind of interesting, isn't it?
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: That we would just be afraid of not knowing, not knowing what's going on.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: So, with all that being being said, let's let's just focus on the fear of the Lord.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I really want to start there because, like I said, that's that's the most important one.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Have you ever heard the the common expression, the fear of the Lord is our strength?
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: This is a phrase explained and found in the Bible, particularly in the book of Proverbs.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're familiar with Proverbs, you'll know that Proverbs is in the Old Testament and it is a book of knowledge.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of good information in the book of Proverbs.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: So if you're looking um for some really, really good wisdom, I would read the whole entire book of Proverbs because there's a lot in here, and it's gonna talk a lot about the fear of the Lord, okay?
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: So be, you know, get in there and read it and and and check it out for yourself.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: But it conveys the notion that um a reverential awe and respect for God is a source of protection, well-being, and wisdom.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: It's not about being terrified of God when you think of the fear of the Lord, but rather recognizing his holiness, his authority, and his power, which leads to a life of obedience and trust.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: We want that.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: We want to be able to trust.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: A lot of times people have fear because they just don't trust.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: There's many times in my life where I did not trust even God.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, couldn't even trust myself.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: So uh definitely wasn't trusting anything or anyone else.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: So let's look at a scripture today.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: I want to look at this one specific scripture and dive into it, okay?
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, I'm gonna get a drink of water real quick.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Okay, Proverbs chapter one, verse seven.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: So, again, if you have your Bible, get it out, get it out.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Let's read it, let's get it in our hands, it's right where it belongs.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Don't trust me.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can trust me if you want.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I appreciate all of that, but you can read it for yourself.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: I love people to just look up scripture for themselves so they don't have to just take my word for it, okay?
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I definitely think it's important that people read scripture.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, Proverbs 1:7 says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: What does that really mean?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: What does this what does this mean?
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: It's definitely talking about reverence and respect of God.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: It's also talking about the foundation of what true wisdom and knowledge really are.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: It contrasts with the foolishness, though, of those who reject wisdom and instruction.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know about you, but me personally, I I like to learn and grow and develop.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: And um a phrase that I've heard in my my lifetime many, many times is that you're you're never too old to learn something new.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Never too old to learn something new.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: And it's okay to ask questions.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Not everybody knows everything.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: So those are actually two phrases that I like to share with people because it's true, it's very true.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: We can learn up until the day we die, and we still will not know it all.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: But there are some people out there that actually think that they kind of do know it all.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Or there's people that just don't care if they learn at all.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: And that's really foolish.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: That's really foolish.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: When you reject wisdom and instruction, you don't want to make yourself better.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Think of your children when you're raising them and you're teaching them.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: You teach them how to put their clothes on, you teach them how to put their shoes on and tie their shoes and how to eat with a fork and a spoon and how to sit down at the table and the things that you teach them.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: But if that child just is unwilling to learn, it's foolishness.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: It's ridiculous, basically.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: We want them to take the instruction so that they can grow and develop into being great people, the people that we created, that we love, we want to see them successful, we want to see them grow in wisdom and instruction.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the fear of the Lord definitely is the very beginning of knowledge.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: If you want to gain knowledge, research fearing the Lord.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, a lot of people are like, but aren't we talking about how bad fear is?
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Well, is it bad?
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Is it bad?
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: We're going to go through that.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: We're going to dissect it in these four episodes, okay?
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: So this emphasizes that a proper, let me say that again, a proper relationship with God, characterized by reverence and awe, is the starting point for understanding and implying wisdom.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Once you realize that we need to fear the Lord, we will start gaining some great knowledge.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Isn't that exciting?
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's exciting.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: The devil hates that.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: The devil doesn't want us to fear the Lord, the devil wants us to fear the devil.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: We don't need to fear the devil.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: The devil's already been defeated.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: All you have to do is say, get Satan in the name of Jesus, and he has to flee.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: So, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: I wonder, I mean, why would anybody want to do that?
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Why would anybody want to do that?
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: The contrast of the fear of the Lord with attitude of those who reject wisdom and guidance, they're literally called fools.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: That's why it says foolishness in the scripture.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: They are called fools because they fail to recognize the value of knowledge and instruction.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: It's important to recognize the value of it.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Um, in essence, so in essence to Proverbs 1:7, this teaches true wisdom that begins with acknowledging God's authority and seeking his guidance rather than rejection.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: So it's really simple, it's it's not a complex verse, but it's a really good place to start, okay, when you're looking into studying what fear is.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: What kind of fear should we cling to?
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: This is the fear that we need to cling to.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: And why is that?
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Why is that?
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: Well, we need God in our life, okay.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: We need God as an authority figure.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: We need God because this isn't just um an earthly life that we're living.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: We are going to die one day, and not to be blunt, but we're gonna die one day.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Where are we going?
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Where are we going?
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: And I know there's so many different beliefs out there, but I believe in a heaven and I believe in a hell.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: And I believe they're both very real.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: And I also believe in the lake of fire.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, we'll talk about the difference between hell and lake of fire in another episode, but they are real places, okay?
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And God is gonna make the deciding decision where you go.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: I think you ought to, you know, kind of have a little bit of fear in that.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Because once you learn about hell and what it's all about, you'll realize that's not the place you want to be.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: So maybe having a little bit of fear in the Lord and and learning what it is that he wants from us and acknowledging what he wants us to learn, how to be how to be obedient.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: He wants to learn his truths, he wants us to share his word and share his truths.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's so important.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: It's really, really important.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: So, today that's the only scripture I'm gonna share for today because in the next um three episodes, I have a lot of scripture I want to go into.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: So, now to wrap up today, I just want to leave you with this.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: To gain knowledge is wisdom.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: So don't be afraid to learn something new.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Don't be afraid.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I went back to school to get my associates' bachelor's and master's degree when I was 53 and I'm 54.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: I just completed my associates.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: I'm at the very end of my bachelor's and I've already started on my master's.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Because there's no reason that I can't grow and learn.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: I want to grow and learn.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: And I went into ministry, into ministry.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: I wanted to know more about God.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: I wanted to find out who is this God that is omnipotent and he's everywhere.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Yet sometimes I don't feel like he's there, and sometimes I don't fear the Lord, but I need to fear the Lord.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: I need to have that.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: So if you need prayer today or have any questions, feel free to reach out.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And if you're struggling with fear and need help, let me know.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: I can help you.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: So I hope that you um gained some knowledge today from the word of God, first of all, and just from this episode.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: And I hope that um if you do have a prayer request, or if you do want any advice, or if you just want to ask me questions, you can just ask me anything you like.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Just message me and I'll be happy to get back with you at any point in time.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: So, um, with that notion, um, I thank you again.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: And this is crushing strongholds.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: So until next time, have a great day and take care.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Talk to you soon.
