- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone, Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame Show.
- 0:13It's Week two and the NFL schedule makers man, they
- 0:16had drama on their mind. They had the Eagles open
- 0:19up against their rivals on Thursday night against Dallas, and
- 0:22now Week two is a Super Bowl rematch, the Eagles
- 0:26out in Kansas City to face the Chiefs. The Eagles
- 0:28are one to oh, Chiefs zero to one, and have
- 0:32never been oh and two in the Andy Reid Patrick
- 0:36Mahomes era, So obviously the stage is set. I'm Jeff
- 0:40Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan and of course joining us as
- 0:44always for all season long on the pregame show to
- 0:47break it down is Greg Cosell, and he breaks down
- 0:50more tape than anybody who doesn't work in the NFL,
- 0:53and probably more than some people who do work in
- 0:55the NFL, as Greg watches every single team. You see
- 0:59him on ESPN's and NFL matchups show. Welcome, gentlemen, We've
- 1:02got a great game to break down. Exciting game, and
- 1:05Adam will start with you. Just in general, these are
- 1:08not the same teams that met seven months ago. Similar
- 1:12some changes on both sides, some injuries on both sides.
- 1:16Speaker 2: We'll get Yeah, Look, the Chiefs have rebuilt their left
- 1:20side of their offensive line. They needed to and they've
- 1:23done that. You mentioned the injuries, which we'll get to
- 1:25that's going to impact this game pretty mostly the same
- 1:28defensive players and the Eagles. And the Eagles have one
- 1:33change obviously, an offensive new coordinator. Bags is back. He's phenomenal.
- 1:37We know that Matt Naggi's back and he read oversee
- 1:40the offense. But we'll get into some of the personnel matchups,
- 1:43and I think there's some really good ones where I
- 1:45think the Eagles will have an advantage, but we'll get
- 1:47into that.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Greg, One thing we'll also get into is both
- 1:50of these teams are trying to do a little bit
- 1:52different offensively. The Chiefs have talked about their wanting to
- 1:55get the deep ball back into what they do. That
- 1:58might be complicated by some injuries we'll talk about. And
- 2:01then obviously, the Eagles talked about evolving as an offense.
- 2:05And after Week one, you know, obviously it wasn't the
- 2:08most poetic offense, but they did what they needed to
- 2:10do to win.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure, Well, both those things, I'm not sure.
- 2:18Week one, the Chiefs really did not have a vertical
- 2:21passing game at all. And we'll get into more detail
- 2:24about the Chiefs passing game because I'm sort of confused
- 2:27by it, particularly with Andy Reid as the head coach,
- 2:30and I think the Eagles, you know, it'll be interesting.
- 2:33It was week one. Week one is always tough to
- 2:36make a judgment about the entire season, obviously, but what
- 2:39we saw from the Eagles week one was kind of
- 2:42what they are. And you know, look, we know that
- 2:45AJ Brown isn't getting one target every week. But you know,
- 2:49we'll get more into the details of that. But I
- 2:52think they kind of played the way we kind of
- 2:56expect them to play. Now, whether that changes over time,
- 2:59I guess we'll see.
- 3:01Speaker 1: All right, absolutely, Now again, injuries are going to play
- 3:05a role in this game. Let's start with the Eagles, Adam.
- 3:08We talked about it all week long. If Dallas Goddard
- 3:10can't play, it is a major impact on their offense,
- 3:13even though we have acknowledge they've won plenty of games
- 3:16when Dallas got it in the past, has missed, but
- 3:19he will not play, has been ruled out of the
- 3:22game with a shot. It's a knee. It's a knee.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Ind Nay he don't even practice this week. Yeah, that's
- 3:27that's not a good sign. So, you know, we it's funny.
- 3:30Andrew was telling us Andrew de Checko, who writes for
- 3:32us and does the dely Tochecko. Andrew was telling us
- 3:36that he definitely saw in training camp or cam Lattu
- 3:39who's changed his number for the second time or actually
- 3:41third whatever, second time at least uh, he showed that
- 3:45he can block a little bit. So we'll see. But
- 3:47the bottom line is they just don't have it. They
- 3:50just don't have a guy that's been developed yet. Cam
- 3:52Lotso has never played in an NFL game. This is
- 3:54his third year in the NFL, So we'll see what happens.
- 3:57But you know, there was a little bit of a
- 3:59mind good news Jeff. On Friday, Tanner McKee surprisingly worked.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah how about that?
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah, coming back from the right thumb. So that's good news.
- 4:07And then the other good news.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Is sports are all about competition. Every snap, every possession,
- 4:14every clutch moment matters. That same energy is what one
- 4:17v one me brings to video games every single day.

- 5:12That's code birds for a risk free first steak.
- 5:16Speaker 3: LANDA.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Dickerson, as we expected, is clear for the game, but
- 5:18that's not the real story. The issue and the challenges.
- 5:22Will he last through the game with its bad back?
- 5:24I don't like these bad backs with offensive linemen.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah, trust neither does Jeff Stoutlin or anybody else involved
- 5:31with the With the Eagles, it's he's tough as nails.
- 5:34He usually does play. But you're right to bring out.
- 5:37Will he last the entire game against a very good
- 5:40Chiefs interior guy like Chris Jones too, So we'll keep
- 5:43an eye on that. Staying with the running game, Adham,
- 5:45though will Shipley did not practice. You know, our friend
- 5:49h and co worker Derek Gunn of Inside the Birds
- 5:51and reported earlier in the week it's a broken rib.
- 5:53They're saying it's an oblique either way, he didn't practice.
- 5:56He's out. Cameron Williams, a backup ot, also out. So
- 6:00good news is yes, Dickerson will play. Jillox Hunt, who
- 6:03was on the injury report with a hip full participant,
- 6:06expected to play, and maybe we'll see what happens with
- 6:08Tanner McKee. That is good news that he's back on
- 6:11the field. Let's talk about the Chiefs injuries. I've watched
- 6:15the play many times. If those who haven't seen it,
- 6:18there was a crossing route between our mesh route between
- 6:21Travis Kelcey and Xavier Worthy and boided. Worthy looked like
- 6:25he was on the opposite side of it. He looked
- 6:26like the defender because he took an elbow from Kelsey
- 6:30and he wound up suffering a dislocated shoulder. They're calling
- 6:33it correct at him.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's not expected to play. He did get
- 6:37some work on thurs Year Friday, but he's just not
- 6:38cleared yet for contact, so he is out. In taekwon
- 6:43Thornton was the guy, and we'll get into what Jeff
- 6:46Greg saw on tape a Taekwon Thornton. I saw it
- 6:49at Patriots camp. One of the many things one of
- 6:53the issues with him was weight. He needs to put
- 6:55weight on. He just never factor hurt a lot. By
- 6:57the way, with the Patriots spent at least two times
- 7:01on on injury reserve, So uh they Jeff, they are
- 7:05really light at receiver position. They just don't have very
- 7:07much death yep. And Gorton can run though, that's why
- 7:10he was the second round pick.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And we will get into that with Greg and yourself
- 7:14and myself and what their offense might look like without it,
- 7:16because it's not just that they don't have Xavier Worthy.
- 7:20They also don't have Rashi Rice for this game and
- 7:23four more as he serves a six game suspension. Adam
- 7:26any other injuries on the chief side that are worth noting.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Now, that's pretty much it.
- 7:32Speaker 3: They had.
- 7:32Speaker 2: They had a bunch of players listed, but they're all
- 7:34been cleared to play, so but obviously the big one
- 7:37is there is that is that the receiver position? And yeah,
- 7:42it's uh, I know, Andy look is the master at
- 7:44at at creating space and and and getting guys open.
- 7:48But man, Greg, I don't know about you, but I
- 7:51just I wonder about this Chiefs pass the game, which
- 7:53you've told us could be a little bit compressed.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a little confused, to be honest. I mean,
- 7:59the foundation of their passing game and really goes back
- 8:02the last couple of years, quite frankly, but it was
- 8:04evident again in their Week one matchup against the Chargers.
- 8:08It's all quick, rhythm, short timing throws. Now Mahomes will
- 8:12take a few deep shots, but there was really no
- 8:15significant intermediate passing game, either outside or between the numbers.
- 8:20And I'm kind of surprised by that. But again, you know,
- 8:23I'm not there. I don't know how they coach it,
- 8:25but they don't really have that, and they really haven't
- 8:28had that to any meaningful degree over the last couple
- 8:31of years. You know, keep in mind, and this is
- 8:35just a statement of fact. Okay, Well, before I say that,
- 8:40one point I want to make is mahomes running ability
- 8:42has really become a significant part of their offense, and
- 8:45he's really good at it. His feel for spatial awareness
- 8:49is as good as we've probably ever seen, and he
- 8:51just has a great sense of when to get out
- 8:53of the pocket and he makes that's really a meaningful
- 8:56part of their offense. But the point I was going
- 8:59to make was they've the last two years, they've only
- 9:02averaged twenty two points a game, and that's like fifteenth
- 9:06or sixteenth in the NFL, Whereas their defense has been
- 9:09top five in the NFL in each of the last
- 9:12two years in points allowed. So in some ways their
- 9:16offense has not really been consistent. But the ability of
- 9:19Mahomes to make special plays, which is nonparel is kind
- 9:24of bails them out if those things don't happen. Look,
- 9:27I'm sure a lot of people are surprised in the
- 9:29Week one matchup when they marched right down Mahomes hit
- 9:32that special play, that special Mahomes play to Brown for
- 9:37forty nine yards that put them in the red zone.
- 9:39I guarantee everybody watching Unfortunately I was sleeping, but I
- 9:43guarantee everybody watching probably felt they're winning this game now
- 9:47because they're down in the red zone. It's Mahomes and
- 9:50it obviously did not happen. And to show you that
- 9:54the lack of depth at wide receiver, the fourth down
- 9:57play was a fadeable to Jarvis Brownlee. You know, it's
- 10:01just it's it. They've been kind of an odd, really
- 10:04good team the last couple of years, you know, So
- 10:07it's it's it's it's difficult for someone like me who
- 10:10just sits and grinds on tape much.
- 10:12Speaker 1: How much do you think, Greg, and I'll get your
- 10:16opinion too, the lack of It's very easy to say
- 10:19that their their scoring is down, their offenses down. It
- 10:22must be a wide receiver quarterback thing. But they also
- 10:25don't have a running back in Isaiah Pacheco. That has
- 10:28been the template that Andy Reid has used in the past,
- 10:32which is a Brian Westbrook type or a lash when
- 10:36you can catch the ball. When he got there, he
- 10:38had Jamal Tarles at the end, but it was still
- 10:40able to do those things. Is that do you think
- 10:43making their offense a little bit more tell tale and difficult?
- 10:47Speaker 3: You know? The only thing the only way I can
- 10:48answer that, And I think that's a fair statement. Chef
- 10:51by the way, is a lot of people believe that
- 10:54if your offense is sort of struggling, okay, you know,
- 10:57to sustain I'm not talking about the big playability of mahomes,
- 11:00which we.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Know is great.
- 11:02Speaker 3: That the way teams get their offense back on track
- 11:05is not by throwing the ball, but by running the ball.
- 11:08And that's why I think your points valid. They don't
- 11:11really have that run game where you can say, Okay,
- 11:14you know, we're not really doing what we want offensively,
- 11:18let's stabilize it by lining up running our staple ground
- 11:21game that we feel we can run against anybody. You know,
- 11:24usually good running teams just feel like, hey, we can
- 11:27line up and run the ball. You know, we have
- 11:29our three staple running plays. We're going to line up.
- 11:32They can put twenty people out there on defense, we're
- 11:34going to gain seven yards. You know. That's you know,
- 11:37they don't really have that. So that is so your
- 11:39point's right. So it's been a very odd offense, but
- 11:42the magic of mahomes very often bails them out, and
- 11:46you're almost surprised when it doesn't, as was I'm sure
- 11:49the case on in that opener when it didn't happen.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Right right, Adam. That was supposed to be Charles Edwards
- 11:55Hilaire was supposed to be that guy, and it just
- 11:57never penned out for them. Edwards Lai, Yeah, yeah, Clyde
- 12:01where yeah yeah, out of LSU, right, And because of that,
- 12:05they've sort of been you know, I feel like a
- 12:07couple of years ago when they at least had McKinnon,
- 12:10if I'm not mistaken, Yeah, oh, he was good at
- 12:12a player.
- 12:14Speaker 3: For them, and they I'm not a run game guy
- 12:16in the sense that you're going to line up and
- 12:18and you know, he's not a hammer in the run game.
- 12:20Speaker 2: He was phenomenal in the red zone. Jack McKinnon, Yeah,
- 12:24good point.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah. It just feels like they're run their run game.
- 12:27In their run game, versatility has been an issue. Let's
- 12:30let's also talk about I mean, listen, you want to
- 12:32throw the ball deep, but you don't have her sheet Rice,
- 12:34who's not necessarily the deepest threat, but you don't Yeah,
- 12:37and you don't have have Worthy in this game. I
- 12:40have no idea where they go. Where do they go
- 12:43for offense from here? Consistent offense?
- 12:46Speaker 3: Well, that is sort of the point I was trying
- 12:48to make, you know, So it becomes a defense that
- 12:52ideally holds the game together. And in the week one
- 12:55matchup that was uncharacteristic of the Chiefs defense, there were
- 12:58some you know, some things I probably will get worked
- 13:01out because backs has been doing it for a long
- 13:02time and it's you know, a few people. I think
- 13:05Justin Reid might be a bigger loss than people think,
- 13:07because you know, he was an incredibly smart, savvy player.
- 13:11So Jade Hicks is becoming the starter now and for
- 13:14the first time, he played in the dime last year,
- 13:17so it's just different. But you know, if the defense holds,
- 13:24they're in the games, and then Mahomes makes enough plays
- 13:27because that's who he is. But if they have to
- 13:31keep scoring and scoring, you know, again, I'm not saying
- 13:34they can't. Look, you know, when people hear comments like this,
- 13:38they think all these things are absolute. You know, they're
- 13:41not absolutes. Nothing is an absolute, you know. So you know,
- 13:46could they theoretically come out against the Eagles who are
- 13:48playing with some different personnel on defense that are still
- 13:51trying to get acclimated and put up thirty Sure they could.
- 13:55You know, the quarterback's pretty good. Sure they could. But
- 13:58you know, just watching them over these last couple of years,
- 14:01it really hasn't been sort of a consistent pass game.
- 14:06It's been plays, individual plays random.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I think it's actually it's almost like it's random.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't quite figure it out.
- 14:14Speaker 2: And also the other thing I want to touch on
- 14:16before we switch the other side of the football their
- 14:18offensive line.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Okay, Jean Taylor.
- 14:20Speaker 2: The reason why he's still on the team is because
- 14:22of his contract. All his cash is full of ganteed.
- 14:24It's around twenty million, so they couldn't cut him. Okay,
- 14:27he's a declining player. I know, Jeff, you had some
- 14:29information on sumotea the left guard, and Greg could obviously
- 14:32chime in. Kingsley sumote was a kid from BYU. Correct, Yeah,
- 14:36they KIDU. You know, they back of the guard, right
- 14:39right right.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So I was gonna say, I just I watched about
- 14:44seventy percent of the pass UH snaps from from Week
- 14:47one against the Chargers, and I thought both Sue Maataea
- 14:50and Josh Simmons a left tackle, and I wanted to
- 14:51bring this up with Greg. Two struggled on some stuff
- 14:55that was sort of basic under center play action. They
- 14:58gave up some pressures. Three men rush Simmons got beat
- 15:02to the inside and Forrest it wasn't. I do think
- 15:05that there were times you saw Jesse Minter try to
- 15:08try to throw some stuff at them, But there was
- 15:09also some basic stuff that I thought that they struggled
- 15:12with Greg your oppression.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Well, and I think that's one reason I'm certain that
- 15:16week one everything was well, not everything. A good part
- 15:20of their pass game a higher percentage was quick rhythm
- 15:22timing throws because then the ball gets out, because, as
- 15:26Adam probably remembers from sitting with myself and run Chiworski
- 15:29for years, if you go three step drop timing, the
- 15:32ball's out in one point five to one point six seconds.
- 15:34And even if you're a left guard and left tackle
- 15:36maybe struggle with the block, it's a non factor. The
- 15:39ball's out. So you know, that could be one very
- 15:43valid reason why they did a lot of that, as
- 15:45those guys get a feel. Sue Mattea was a dominant
- 15:48run blocker in college, but pass protection was where he
- 15:51needed to work, and most people believed he would be
- 15:54a guard in the NFL, which is where he's playing.
- 15:56And Simmons is incredibly gifted in terms of athletic movement,
- 16:01and I think he's going to be a really good player.
- 16:03But you know, the Chargers attack that side with a
- 16:05lot of different things. The Eagles don't do that kind
- 16:09of stuff usually. Now, again, you never know how a
- 16:13game is going to play out, what Vic Fangio may
- 16:15have in mind, But normally the Eagles are not overly
- 16:19creative with their rush. They rush for They're not a
- 16:22high percentage stunt team, so you know, they kind of
- 16:25line up and rush the quarterback.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and then so what you'll have is we'll see
- 16:32how the edge rush rotation is. We'll see if Zadarias
- 16:34Smith gets on. But obviously against the Cowboys you had
- 16:37a combination of Jelex Hunt and Josh Uche lined up
- 16:41over left tackle for the most part, and then I
- 16:43believe it was a Joemo and Davis over the left
- 16:46guard at times. So I feel like that. I feel
- 16:50like with Jalen carterback especially, this will be a really
- 16:53big area for the Eagles to capitalize. And if you're
- 16:57looking at it from a Chiefs perspective, I think you're
- 17:00feeling happier that this game is well. No, from Eagles perspective,
- 17:04you're happy that this game is early before Simmons and
- 17:07Seue Matea figure some things out, because I think that
- 17:09that's a better response than having a left guard playing
- 17:12left tackle and then a third stringer playing left guard
- 17:15like this, Right, but clearly these guys have some work
- 17:18to do and having to face the Eagles week two
- 17:21is probably not great for that.
- 17:23Speaker 3: One point you just made that. I'd love to respond
- 17:25to you about Jayalen Carter playing almost always. I would say,
- 17:28I don't have the number right in front of me,
- 17:30but I would bet ninety percent of the time last
- 17:32year he lined up at left defensive tackle. You wonder
- 17:36if he'll get some snaps at right defensive tackle against
- 17:38Sue Mattea. You just especially since a Joemo did not
- 17:41really have a good game last week, and who knows.
- 17:44You know, this is just something I thought of right
- 17:47when you said it, that could Carter get some snaps
- 17:50against Sue Mateya, because you know, Carter is obviously great
- 17:54and we'll we'll see, you know, maybe he will, maybe
- 17:56you won't, But just something to possibly look for.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Would that be real quick? Would that be disadvantage? Well,
- 18:03I'm wondering if they did that, if then the automatic
- 18:05double team would be center and left guard on Jalen
- 18:10Carter and then Ojomo has to go up against They
- 18:14may not do that, you know, you don't know, Yeah, yeah,
- 18:18all right, it'll be interesting to see, Adam what you're
- 18:20You're gonna mention something there?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know they gave uh, they had a number
- 18:24of quarterback pressures the chargers of Marlon Tuey, Polo's brother
- 18:27Tooley I had a great game, boyot uh. I know,
- 18:33we hate the word blueprint, but they obviously found something
- 18:36that worked. And yeah, they have two leade players on
- 18:39the interior their offensive line, but this is a beatable
- 18:41offensive line, and they did not play well last week.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, they did not. So it'll be very interesting
- 18:46to see what as Andy Reid tries to figure out
- 18:48how to get a more consistent, rhythmic offense going and
- 18:52get the ball deep. How much his offensive line will
- 18:54allow Patrick Mahomes to do that. On the flip side,
- 18:58when you look at the Eagles defense, the red circle
- 19:00will be drawn around on Dori Jackson, and I wonder
- 19:05exactly how Andy will try to figure out a way
- 19:08to get some of his whether it's Marquise Brown, whether
- 19:11it's Thornton, to try to get him isolated on on
- 19:15a Dori Jackson if he ken Greg.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I mean, look, teams will they're going to go after
- 19:21Dori Jackson. I think that's obvious how they do it
- 19:23and with who they do it with. I guess that
- 19:26remains to be seen. You know, you mentioned Taekwon Thornton.
- 19:30You know, he did attempt a few deep balls to
- 19:32Thornton in this game and he hit and he hit
- 19:34a big time throw to him late in the first
- 19:36half to set up a field goal, which you know
- 19:39was thirty eight yards. The Chargers weren't cover one Robert,
- 19:43which is is a coverage the Eagles you know, play rarely,
- 19:46but they have played it. You know, you mentioned about
- 19:50I think it was Adam that just said I can't remember.
- 19:52I think it was Adam who just said about. You know,
- 19:54is there any kind of blueprint? You know, you have
- 19:56to remember the Chargers are different from the Eagles on defense,
- 19:59like for instance, I made a note watching that tape
- 20:01that the Chargers on third and two to six yards
- 20:05to go for a first down, they played three two
- 20:08six dining, They kept their two linebackers on the field.
- 20:11They used Henley as a spy on Mahomes and they
- 20:13played man coverage behind it. Okay, that's what they did
- 20:16on third and two to six. The Eagles are not
- 20:19going to do that. You know, that's not really part
- 20:21of the Vic Fangio approach. So you know, every team
- 20:27tries to do things, gets to the same objective, but
- 20:31they do it differently. The Eagles are not going to
- 20:33do it that way. So that doesn't you know, and
- 20:36keep in mind, I think we have to go back
- 20:39and use the Super Bowl as a blueprint for how
- 20:43the Eagles thought about it. Now, it doesn't mean they're
- 20:45going to do exactly the same thing. But here was
- 20:47the Eagles plan in the Super Bowl. Okay, it was
- 20:50a four man pass rush. They did not plits one time.
- 20:52They did not rush five one time. In their quarter
- 20:56structure a four across which they lined up in almost
- 20:59on every single they had their two outside corners. It
- 21:03was Mitchell at right corner, Sleigh at left corner, playing
- 21:06man to man. Now will they do that with Jackson unknown?
- 21:09But this is what they did. And then they squeezed
- 21:12everything in the middle of the field because based on
- 21:16their film study, they determined that Mahomes does not really
- 21:21work outside the numbers unless he's taking a deep shot,
- 21:24and everything about their pass game or the high percentage
- 21:28is in the middle of the field. So they squeezed
- 21:31the middle in multiple ways. That was their game plan.
- 21:34Approach clearly worked. Now the Chiefs know this too, so
- 21:39you know, will it be similar, will they try to
- 21:43do it in different ways? Will they take a totally
- 21:46different approach? You know these are things week two, at
- 21:49the beginning of a season, you just don't know.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough, parking, traffic,

- 22:50one and up. One hundred percent good stuff.
- 22:53Speaker 3: All right.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So that's a look at the Eagles defense against the
- 22:57offense and of course against the Chiefs offense. And of
- 22:59course this will be the debut this game for Jaille
- 23:01and Carter, assuming he doesn't get kicked out before the
- 23:03game starts, hoping that one would hope he's learned. Yeah, well, listen,
- 23:10if you're the Chiefs, you know, when you're in the
- 23:12warm ups pre game, you might be walking in his
- 23:15direction trying to stir him up. We've seen that happen before.
- 23:19Oh for sure, get under a guy's skin and see
- 23:21what happens. So let's take a look, let's spin it around.
- 23:24Let's talk about the Eagles offense against his Chiefs defense.
- 23:28But I wanted to start by sort of having Greg
- 23:30expand on what looked like not a great effort or
- 23:34not not effort, but not a great production from the
- 23:37Chiefs defense. Against the Chargers. I mean they made they
- 23:41made Justin Herbert look like the quarterback everybody's been waiting Justin.
- 23:44Speaker 3: For her well, I think Justin Herbert's basically done that
- 23:46his whole career. Just people thinking that, you know, in
- 23:48the playoffs. It hasn't been great, but he's kind of
- 23:50done that kind of thing most of his career. But
- 23:54you know, it was interesting. One of the things that
- 23:58really stood out in that game, and it was the
- 24:03success that they had with play action, which is not
- 24:06really a big deal for the Eagles, especially from under center,
- 24:10which is it's a totally different offense than they're facing
- 24:13this week, you know, because what the Chargers are, because
- 24:17you have to remember it Tarbaugh and Greg Roman, is
- 24:20they play with a fullback Scott Mattlock. They play with
- 24:22a fullback, so you know, they line up in twenty
- 24:26one personnel quite a bit. That's sort of foundational to
- 24:30what they do. Okay, so you know you're not getting
- 24:33that from the Eagles. But one of the things that
- 24:36stood out was the play action pass game. Herbert was
- 24:39nine for eleven for one hundred and sixty nine yards
- 24:42in the play action pass game and five for six
- 24:45for ninety one yards from conventional play action where he
- 24:48was under center. Now that's not what the Eagles are
- 24:50going to do. But what was interesting in that game
- 24:53is the inability, the total inability of the Chiefs to
- 24:57generate any pressure from their four man D line pass rush.
- 25:01They could not generate any pressure whatsoever, and there were,
- 25:06for some reason, way too many voids in their own
- 25:09coverage concepts. You'd have to believe, since neither one of
- 25:12those things has really been common to Spagnolo over the
- 25:15last number of years, that those things would get cleaned up.
- 25:19You'd have to believe that. Maybe they don't, but you'd
- 25:21have to believe that those things will get cleaned up
- 25:23to some degree.
- 25:27Speaker 1: What was there? Was it mostly a four man pressure
- 25:30pressure scheme by Spags against that or did he try to,
- 25:34you know, cook something?
- 25:35Speaker 3: Well? They rushed five or more, including four snaps of
- 25:37zero Jeff on fifteen of Herbert's forty one dropbacks, and
- 25:41Herbert ate up the pressure. He was ten for thirteen
- 25:44for one sixty five and a touchdown. Now they were
- 25:46two sacks, but for the most part he ate it up.
- 25:49They also showed some sim pressure concepts, so the audience
- 25:53understands what that means is is it's a four man
- 25:57pass rush, but your fourth rusher is either a lineer
- 26:00or a defensive back, and they drop out a defensive lineman.
- 26:04But they ate up the Chiefs pressure concepts in that game,
- 26:07which is something you also don't see that often. So
- 26:10it was overall, the things we expect from the Chiefs
- 26:14in a good way did not happen that way in
- 26:17the first game. But there's a strong history of success
- 26:22doing those things. So you know, there's no answer to
- 26:26the question till they play the game. We're just presenting,
- 26:29you know, the way it is.
- 26:31Speaker 2: By the way, real quick, on Herbert, Herbert run the
- 26:33ball a lot where they mostly designed some scrambles. What
- 26:35were your thoughts on on kind of the way that
- 26:37Greg Roman used Herbert in the run game if he did, Did.
- 26:41Speaker 3: He run a lot? I know he ran had some
- 26:43big runs. At seven.
- 26:44Speaker 2: He actually had seven rushers, which seems to me a
- 26:46little bit more.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Yeah, were more obviously the last one. The last one
- 26:50was interesting because Chris Jones just made a mistake, you know,
- 26:54by going inside and you know he shouldn't have, and
- 26:58that that opened the edge for for Herbert and he
- 27:01just ran nineteen yards and that wrapped up the game.
- 27:05I'm trying to think, you know, just think back on
- 27:07some of the Herbert you know when they scrambles. I can't.
- 27:11I don't remember that. My guess is that they were
- 27:14probably scrambles because they don't use him. I mean that
- 27:18nineteen yard which was to wrap up the game obviously,
- 27:20but they don't normally use him as a as a runner,
- 27:23you know, in that sense where there are design runs
- 27:26for Herbert.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the guy had what plaid there for
- 27:29shitest last year, he had an ankle injuries, had a
- 27:32shoulder injury. They probably want to be judicious and how
- 27:35they run him. But yeah, that Chris Jones inside pressure
- 27:39that he shouldn't have reminded me of the conversations we
- 27:42had about the Cowboys who did the same thing Week
- 27:45one against Jillen Hurtz and provided him an outside lane.
- 27:49And I wonder going into this game if if Spagnolo
- 27:55will look at the Super Bowl and say, maybe I
- 28:00shouldn't try to devote everything to taking away Saquan because
- 28:04Jalen could beat me through the air, or say, let's
- 28:06see if he can do it twice in a row at.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Him, Well, I think, oh, I'm sorry, go ahead at him.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say a couple of things. Hurts
- 28:13crushed them on the ground and of the air. Obviously
- 28:15they had the couple the shot plays. The big one
- 28:19was to DeVante Smith, but he also crushed them in
- 28:22the run game. And the thing is, and we talked
- 28:24about this last week, Hurts looks more explosive. Is the
- 28:27second year that I think, Jeff, we talked about the
- 28:29twenty three look. He did not look as quite as explosive.
- 28:33He looked really good last week running the football, and
- 28:36Spags was asked about it. You're playing Hurts. It's interesting
- 28:38he knows what's common because Jeff as I turned it
- 28:42back to you last week. Okay, they threw the ball
- 28:46once downfield and was phenomenal. Hurts made a great throw,
- 28:48great catch by Dodson. You saw what the Super Bowl
- 28:51brought to you. If you stop Barkley bombs away quite frankly,
- 28:55let's let's be honest. The chief secondary is not great
- 28:58at corner other than McDuffie, who's not the in the world.
- 29:01You with Smith and Brown, okay, and Dotson is now
- 29:05a part of it. Their playing even if they even
- 29:09if Barkley's getting off the good start, you gotta have
- 29:11shot plays in this game.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I think the feeling from the Chiefs is that Jalen
- 29:16made three great throws in the Super Bowl. Don't forget,
- 29:19he threw for two twenty and he hit the shot play,
- 29:22so and that counts obviously, But you know, game in
- 29:26a moment in the game, when they had just gotten
- 29:27the ball back on a turnover, they were in shot
- 29:29play territory, which is between the forties, and he hit
- 29:32it and made a great throw, just like he made
- 29:33a great throw to Dotson. But let's assume the game
- 29:37was a little different than they didn't hit a shot play.
- 29:39It would have been a normal Eagles passing game where
- 29:41he throws for one to seventy, which has kind of
- 29:44become kind of normal. So they felt that he hit
- 29:47three big throws. And the biggest one, believe it or not,
- 29:49was not necessarily the touchdown to Smith, even though it
- 29:52seemed it kind of put the game away when it
- 29:54half a growth. But they the one that they really
- 29:57felt was the biggest was third and seven to aj
- 30:00Brown on the sideline, which was a back shoulder throw
- 30:04which he Jalen Hurts couldn't have handed it to him
- 30:07any better. It was an unbelievably great throw, and because
- 30:11McDuffie had great coverage, but the throw was so good,
- 30:14so they felt that, you know, hey, he made three
- 30:16and I can't remember the other throw that they thought
- 30:18was great, but they thought he made three great throws.
- 30:22I don't think that they're going dramatically change how they play.
- 30:26I could be wrong, but the killer was scrambles, and
- 30:29it often is with Jalen, and that just like we
- 30:31talked about Mahomes, that has to be factored in. You know,
- 30:35those scrambles when you play the Eagles. That's why the Chiefs,
- 30:38for instance, you know, with Mahomes, why they spied him.
- 30:42You know, you have to take into account Jalen's ability
- 30:46on third and let's say third and five to scramble.
- 30:49It's a big, big deal. You know, you can't just
- 30:52act like, oh no, it's you know, it's a big deal.
- 30:55And he makes a lot of sort of morale breaking,
- 30:58backbreaking plays when he screwed ambles on third down.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Jeff, if you ever watched Josh Allen, right, Greg just
- 31:04brought up he brought up before I did the backbreaking scrambles.
- 31:09I know, I know that the Bills do design a
- 31:11decent amount of them, but when you've when when you
- 31:14think you've got it defended. I've talked defensive coaches, it's
- 31:16so humiliating because you did, you got what you thought
- 31:20you'd get, and somehow he's too elusive, or someone has
- 31:23a coverage bust, or or you didn't follow him in
- 31:26like you were taught, or someone goes upfield, which we've
- 31:28talked about. I just can't imagine hurts last week was
- 31:32just ridiculous and and and Greg talked about it on
- 31:35inside the tape. We're not criticizing Matt Eberflis, but we're
- 31:38trying to figure out what was What were you guys
- 31:40trying to do?
- 31:41Speaker 3: Because here to beat it.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Right and and I guarantee you he'll the Eagles are
- 31:45will see an entirely different game plan. It was one
- 31:48hundred percent zone. I believe that Eberlous played in the
- 31:51in the in the season opener. Greg, I think you
- 31:53had mentioned that and inside the tape that he played
- 31:55literal maybe every snap. If it wasn't a one hundred
- 31:58percent zone, it was very that.
- 32:00Speaker 3: But I mean it was Yeah, they played high, high
- 32:03percentage zone as I recall.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's not necessarily what they're going to see.
- 32:09No Sagnuolo, who's gonna mix it up, but he's gonna
- 32:11send more pressure. He's going to try to make Hurts
- 32:14think pre end post snap.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know it's this will be a different deal.
- 32:19I mean, Spags will play man. I mean it's not. Again,
- 32:23maybe when you play Hurts there are some situations you're
- 32:26not as comfortable playing man coverage. But it's not as
- 32:29if he you know, he's not gonna play man the point,
- 32:31your point is correct. They didn't play the Cowboys didn't
- 32:34play any snaps of cover. One that won't happen in
- 32:37this game, I don't believe.
- 32:38Speaker 1: So let's discuss the lack of Dallas Goddard. It's very easy,
- 32:41and I'm sure a lot of people will listen to
- 32:43this and leave a comment in the YouTube second commented
- 32:45section and say, why are you guys even discussing this?
- 32:48Every time Dallas missed eight games last year, I think
- 32:50the Eagles were seven to one without him. They ran
- 32:53the ball fine, but it's not just it's the culmination
- 32:57you don't have your fullback you know you're gonna try
- 32:59to play this lato a little bit there, Maybe Kylon grantson,
- 33:02you don't have Johnny Wilson to be a good blocker
- 33:05out of your eleven personnel, which I believe the Eagles
- 33:07had the highest EPA per run out of eleven personnel
- 33:10last year. So Johnny Wilson played a role in that.
- 33:13You've got a left guard who is starting but is
- 33:16banged up. You've got a center who didn't exactly play
- 33:19great against the Cowboys. So to me, it's the totality
- 33:23of it all. And I do think if the Eagles
- 33:24struggle to run the ball against the Chiefs, and they
- 33:28may not, and it'll be moved if they don't, but
- 33:30if they do, then it's a sign potentially for two
- 33:34straight weeks that all right, maybe the rushing offense is
- 33:37going to need some help here. And Dallas Goddard is
- 33:39not that easily replaceable because of his value as a
- 33:43blocker end as a pass catcher.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Adam, Yeah, And I want to ask Greg on that.
- 33:48Jeff Cameron Lattu went to Alabama as an edge rusher,
- 33:52moved his secondyear to tight end. His numbers were not
- 33:54great in college, but he went in a third round. Greg,
- 33:57do you remember even watching tape of cam Lato or did?
- 34:00Speaker 3: I'm going to pull it up because I did so.
- 34:03He was in the twenty twenty three draft. Correct, Correct
- 34:06you ever played an NFL game? I'm pretty sure I
- 34:07watched him, but I remember liking him, you know, for
- 34:10what he for what he is. You know, let's see
- 34:13Cameron lot too.
- 34:15Speaker 1: By the way, he is on this just for people listening,
- 34:18he is a He's on the practice squad for the Eagles,
- 34:20so he'd have to be elevated to be able to
- 34:23play in the game on Sunday. But to your point, Adam,
- 34:27he has switched his number from eighty seven to I
- 34:29think thirty nine, which is, you know, an indication that
- 34:33you're more of a fullback than a tight end, and
- 34:35the coaches openly talked about his ability to play that
- 34:38kind of a role.
- 34:40Speaker 2: The thing was Greg had told us that he'd heard
- 34:43or I don't know he spoke with but Greg, you
- 34:45told us last year that Van Summeran might have the
- 34:47best hands on the team. He's a really good athlete.
- 34:49Yeah yeah, yeah, So, Kim lat two, what do you
- 34:53got if in your notes that you found.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Funny because I kind of liked him coming out. I mean,
- 34:58I knew what he was. I said, I said, a
- 35:00lot two will never likely be a truly dynamic receiving
- 35:04threat as a number one tight end, But there was
- 35:07more there than his Alabama tape showed, and I believe
- 35:10that that could come out at the next level. Now,
- 35:12obviously somebody thought that he was a third round pick.
- 35:16That's not a throwaway pick. I said that he was
- 35:19a solid tight end prospect with strong efficiencies both as
- 35:23a run blocker and pass receiver. That's what I thought.
- 35:27He was asked to do a lot at Alabama, and
- 35:30it began with its location versatility within the formation, lining
- 35:33up in multiple spots in addition to being deployed as
- 35:36the main motion receiver in the offense. He was featured
- 35:40primarily as a run blocker, but had a meaningful role
- 35:43in the passing game. So you know, he don't forget.
- 35:46He was there with Jamir Gibbs, so he ran blocked.
- 35:50I mean he run blocked a lot. It wasn't you know.
- 35:52He's he's one of those guys that lined up attached
- 35:55to the tackle and he was a blocker. So you know,
- 36:00if he's really good at it. First of all, I'm
- 36:02guarantee he's better than Calkatara. So you know, I'm not
- 36:06saying he's going to sit here and play thirty snaps,
- 36:08but you know, you could see him in that role.
- 36:11Speaker 2: There you go, Jeff, We've got to answer they got
- 36:13somebody who can block. He had seven tight ends in
- 36:15training camp. Okay, yeah, and now there without god or
- 36:20we know, Calcaterra is limited as a blocker. And we're
- 36:23being nice a lot too. Who's now Yeah, he is
- 36:26now with his third number with the Eagles, so they
- 36:29give him a little bit of guaranteed money. By the way,
- 36:31I know they would later release him, but I'm kind.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Of again, everything is team specific, and I think he
- 36:36got injured his first year, and you know, and that
- 36:38probably messed him up. But you know, he was a
- 36:41third round pick. He was He's not a throwaway pick,
- 36:44and he was not a throwaway prospect. You know, it's
- 36:46not like a sixth or seventh round pick where you know, hell, okay,
- 36:49he got cut. I mean he was a third round pick. Yeah,
- 36:52and I thought that was a valid spot for him
- 36:54based on his college tape.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Mm hmm, Well, I mean I think the chances are
- 36:59pretty good that he might get out there because.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Of because grandson's not a blocker either, right.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Right, Ranson is not a blocker. Adam, You've always said
- 37:07you can always throw an extra offensive lineman onto the
- 37:10field if you're really trying to establish the run as well.
- 37:13And so we'll see, maybe Matt Pryor makes a little
- 37:16bit of a cameo there as the extra offensive lineman
- 37:19if they really just feel like they have to, you know,
- 37:21pound this run and get their run game going. I
- 37:24wonder how much newcomer Tank Bigsby. Oh yeah, A look
- 37:28in this offensive and what he brings to it. Greg,
- 37:30He's not somebody who catches the ball a whole lot.
- 37:34So you have aj Dillon and now you have Tank Bigsby.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean again, I just one quick point before Bigsby.
- 37:42I'm still waiting for the game. And Anam made a
- 37:44really good point a little bit ago about the corners
- 37:47for the Chiefs. I'm waiting for the game where the
- 37:49Eagles come out throwing. I really, Am, I thought, you know,
- 37:52week one, I thought it would happen. But week one,
- 37:54maybe you're not ready to do that. You know, hurts
- 37:56didn't playing the preseason. You know, I'm waiting for that
- 37:59game because you know they they do have two really
- 38:01good wide outs. If Dotson can be Dotson, he was
- 38:04a first round pick on merit. Pretty much everybody thought
- 38:07he was a first round pick. You know that, Jeff.
- 38:09He was at Penn State and he was very good.
- 38:12So you know, I'm waiting for that to happen. I
- 38:15think it could be this week. We'll see. But're getting
- 38:19back to bigsby another player I really liked coming out
- 38:22at Auburn. I think he's a better back than AJ Dillon.
- 38:26To me, that's not even a comparison. But again, he
- 38:30just got there. I don't know does that is he
- 38:33Is he active this week? Ad I don't know what
- 38:35he is on the fifty three, But yeah, they.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Had him returning kicks, covering kicks. And here's a guy
- 38:42last year, I mean, I know talking him to the
- 38:44Jaguars last year, he had a great preseason, good training camp. Uh,
- 38:50pretty solid first half because they got a little bit
- 38:53down at ETN. He struggl last season. He had a
- 38:55great week one last week, but so they started to
- 38:58have a time share and it just didn't quite work out.
- 39:00Like they had hoped in the second half. But Greg's right,
- 39:03got you don't become what was you? A third round pick?
- 39:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Trent, what's that another one? Just like lots of
- 39:11the third round pick. It's crazy with you, they have
- 39:13a fascination.
- 39:14Speaker 3: With He might have been, if memory not that this
- 39:16means anything. You know, there's a lot of guys like this.
- 39:18He may have been, if memory serves me correctly, the
- 39:21number one rated running back coming out of high school
- 39:23in the country.
- 39:23Speaker 2: He may have been other than Auburn, you know.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I think he's either from Georgia or Alabama.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Okay, cool, interesting, Well it'll be I mean he's in
- 39:34between the tackles runner, Greg correct, that's so he fixed.
- 39:37Speaker 3: He's got a little juice to him. I mean, he's
- 39:39not a burner, but he's not just a grinder. He's
- 39:43got a little juice to him. Yeah.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Hey, by the way, to answer your question, you know,
- 39:47or or to expand on your comment, you keep waiting
- 39:50for the game where the Eagles come out throwing. I
- 39:53think A. J. Brown is in your corner. I think
- 39:56he's also that the Eagles come out throwing, and he
- 40:00wouldn't mind if the ball went to him. We've seen
- 40:02this before, whether it's him or Davante, they get like
- 40:05zero one target and then the next week it's like
- 40:08the ball can't stop coming at him. Right, So I
- 40:10would expect a pretty big and concerted effort, big game
- 40:14and concerted effort to get the ball to AJ Brown
- 40:17right from the start of the same you guys, And.
- 40:19Speaker 3: There's ways to do it. You know. That doesn't mean
- 40:21you drop back seven yards and throw it forty yards
- 40:23down of the field. I mean there's so many ways
- 40:26you know, you can run ourpos you can, you know,
- 40:28and AJ Brown is as good as slant and glanced
- 40:31receiver as there is in the league. You know, you
- 40:33have active linebackers that are going to be really reactive
- 40:36to to the hurts. You know, in Bolton and Tranquil
- 40:39both really smart players, you know, So you know there's
- 40:44ways to do this without just you know, hey, let's
- 40:46drop back and toss it all over the yard. I'm
- 40:49not suggesting that's the way the pass game would look,
- 40:52but there's many ways to get into a pass game
- 40:55and have it be effective.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Hey, fall is planting season. Did you know that many

- 43:28We have analyzed the Eagles offense versus the Chiefs defense.
- 43:31We've analyzed the Chiefs defense versus the Eagles offense. Now
- 43:35we do what we do best.
- 43:36Speaker 3: We predictably forgot about this this week, and I got
- 43:39I didn't even think about this.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Wow, you didn't put like a good hard five minutes time.
- 43:43Speaker 3: I totally forgot that. We have to pick a player
- 43:46of the game in the score on my mind.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Just I'll do your favorite. I'll start with Adam Adam,
- 43:51who's gonna win the game? And who's going to be
- 43:52the game MVP.
- 43:53Speaker 2: First of it's gonna be really warm in this game.
- 43:55Holy smokes, it's going to be the low nineties.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Can you believe that? Are you serious? Yes?
- 44:00Speaker 1: Yes, well Midsummer Kansas City m Yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I was like, wait a minute, this can't be right. No,
- 44:05that whether or not commap is never wrong.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:08Speaker 2: So I like the Eagles twenty seven to twenty four.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Wow, all right, and why are they going to win
- 44:15that game? Who's going to be the main players?
- 44:17Speaker 3: They're gonna score three more points than Yeah, I think
- 44:20that's why I believe.
- 44:23Speaker 2: I believe the way they're gonna win is throwing the
- 44:25football downfield. It's not the amount of tempts, it's the
- 44:27shot plays, right, what an unreal throw?
- 44:30Speaker 3: Dot? He hurts?
- 44:31Speaker 2: How the dotson last week? Greg's right, they didn't throw
- 44:33the ball a lot against the Chiefs, but when they
- 44:35did downfield, they had great success. We took all the
- 44:38way he wanted about, Oh that they should They felt
- 44:40they should have stopped it, but they didn't. And but
- 44:42guess what, their corners aren't any better. They signed Fulton,
- 44:46who's backing up, Who's an inconsistent player. Watson should not
- 44:50be starting. Jalen Watson's not a starting quality player. He's
- 44:53a good He's a seventh row. He should be a backup.
- 44:55I'm stunned that they have not addressed that position. I'm
- 44:57throwing the football. I'm throwing the football, all right?
- 45:01Speaker 3: You feel very strongly about that. I see No, I
- 45:03just feel like it's I know, Bags is great.
- 45:06Speaker 2: I'm not taking anything away from him, but the way,
- 45:08and you saw the tape, the Chargers had some success
- 45:11throwing the football.
- 45:12Speaker 3: They had a lot of success throwing the football.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Lot Adam, who's your MVP.
- 45:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with number eleven, AJ Brown.
- 45:21Speaker 1: That would make a lot of sense, all right, Greg
- 45:23Adam to give a nice long winded answer. Yeah, it's
- 45:26time to think about that.
- 45:27Speaker 3: I you know, I feel like that this is just
- 45:33a really hard g Look, people are going to look
- 45:34at the Super Bowl and assume that, oh, the you know,
- 45:36the Eagles are just better than the Chiefs, and you know,
- 45:39look it's weak two. Theoretically, anything could happen. I mean,
- 45:44you know, it's one of those The Chiefs have been
- 45:47pretty good over the last number of years. The quarterback's
- 45:49pretty good. You know, Andy Reid's been doing this a
- 45:51long time. There's just a part of me that thinks
- 45:55they're going to come back. And you know, they lost
- 45:58Week one there at home. It's it's their true home opener.
- 46:01I don't even know who the home team was in Brazil,
- 46:02it doesn't matter. The Chiefs were not an arrogant I
- 46:06think the crowd's going to be nuts, you know. I
- 46:09just think that they're going to play well, and I
- 46:12think it's going to be a really intense game. There's
- 46:15a part of me that just thinks that the Chiefs
- 46:17are winning this game and it's going to be like
- 46:19a twenty seven to twenty six kind of game. You know,
- 46:22it's just going to be one of those games, and
- 46:24that the Chiefs are going to come out on top.
- 46:26It could be the Eagles, but I'm going to pick
- 46:27the Chiefs, and you know, I just I just have
- 46:32to pick Mahomes. He's had so much success in his career,
- 46:36and he didn't have a bad game against the Chargers,
- 46:38but it wasn't like a special game, you know, And
- 46:41I just think that he's, you know, particularly coming off
- 46:45that Super Bowl where you know, I mean he was bad.
- 46:49I mean, there's no way, and he admitted that even
- 46:51in the press conference after the game. He pretty much
- 46:53admitted I was bad. You know, it happens. It's the NFL.
- 46:58Speaker 1: So I'm going to pick Mahomes, all right, all right,
- 47:01so Chiefs win? All Right. I'm with you, Greg, because
- 47:03I can feel like the way you presented that, I
- 47:06feel like the Eagles are the better team, they have
- 47:08the better roster. They may win more games than the
- 47:12the Chiefs this year, but I do feel like the
- 47:14Super Bowl made people forget that the Chiefs were fifteen
- 47:16and one last year. They were not a bad team.
- 47:19Speaker 3: And by the way, he'd been in Super Bowls prior
- 47:22to that.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, but they're not the same team, guys, No, I.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Know, I know, but they they you know, it's funny, Adam,
- 47:28And again not did. But even the year before when
- 47:30they won the Super Bowl, people said, well, they're not
- 47:33the same team, and they won the Super Bowl.
- 47:35Speaker 1: You know there's something you know again, I'm listening.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I know what you get. There's something to the same players,
- 47:41get it.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm admitting I think the Eagles are the better team,
- 47:44the better roster, but that doesn't always mean you win
- 47:47every any given Sunday. And I just feel like, like
- 47:49Greg said, the Chiefs are going to come home, and
- 47:52I have a feeling it's going to be a big
- 47:53game for Chris Jones for them. O line that struggled
- 47:56a lit fair, that's fair. Yeah, so I could see
- 48:00a couple of sacks, forced fumble, things like that. So
- 48:02I picked the Chiefs to win as well. By the way,
- 48:05the Eagles, I believe last night checked for one and
- 48:07a half point favorites, which just shows you like there's
- 48:10no clear favorite for this game. Obviously, it's good for
- 48:13the Eagles to be a favorite on the road against
- 48:15the Chiefs, but I picked the Chiefs to win twenty
- 48:17six to twenty four. Chris Jones as the game.
- 48:21Speaker 3: I mean, I think we all agree, you know, and
- 48:23I hope people understand we do this. We have a
- 48:25good time with it. But it's not like, you know,
- 48:28if people think, oh, you don't know what you were
- 48:30talking about. You picked the Chiefs and the Eagles want
- 48:32I mean, that's not what this is really about, right,
- 48:34you know, and you know me and you see my
- 48:37notes and other people will as well, now, which is wonderful.
- 48:39But you know, I could give you five reasons why
- 48:42each team could win, and they they all could happen,
- 48:45or three of them can happen, or you know, these
- 48:48games are so hard to truly pick, and then you
- 48:51pick a score and we have fun with it.
- 48:52Speaker 2: That's why we love it because no one really knows.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Great.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Yeah, right, all right, So that's gonna do it for
- 48:58this week two Eagles Inside the Birds pregame show for
- 49:03Greg Cosell and Adam Kaplan. I'm Jeff Mosher. Make sure
- 49:06you're keeping it here on the Inside the Birds platform
- 49:09for all your great Eagles contact leading up to the game,
- 49:12the day of the game, and then after the game,
- 49:15and as always we thank you for watching and flying
- 49:17with us inside the Birds
