Transcript
- 0:04Hey, folks, it's Marvin Cash, the host of The Articulate Fly, back with another Central PA Fishing Report with the man himself, George Costa.
- 0:10George, how are you?
- 0:11I look and feel fantastic as always.
- 0:14Marvin, how are you?
- 0:15I'm just trying to stay out of trouble.
- 0:16And you know, it's kind of funny like we've started cooling off down here.
- 0:20I looked at your weather.
- 0:21You're kind of ahead of the game in terms of cold, rainy fall weather, and you were telling me it kind of messed up your striper trip.
- 0:29Yeah, we got Northeast is getting pretty big storm up there this weekend.
- 0:32So I think the saltwater front this week is shut down in the entire northeast.
- 0:36But here in Central PA we're having a little bit of wind yesterday and we had our rain three, four days ago out here.
- 0:43So everything out here in PA got now in Central PA got high and off color.
- 0:49And right now everything is still running high and off color.
- 0:52Most of the creeks around here well above seasonal where we are.
- 0:55So we've got a lot of water going into fall, which will be a really nice thing.
- 0:59Everything's on the drop, so stuff is going to be fishable this weekend.
- 1:03Definitely high and off color.
- 1:05So be careful waiting out there.
- 1:07But I think we should have some good fishing moving into the next couple of weeks here.
- 1:11Temps have been great, nice and cool water.
- 1:13Temps not an issue.
- 1:15We're starting to see, you know, some of those fall hatches.
- 1:17Have you seen good amounts of ISOs, some tan caddis, a couple of October caddis are starting to peak up.
- 1:23So I mean, we're right in the fall time, you know, just, just underway.
- 1:28Had some streamer bites the other day.
- 1:30Got a couple of fish that were nice and colored up.
- 1:33So, you know, fish are definitely starting to feel that fall weather.
- 1:36And we're going to get some good streamer water here in the next few weeks.
- 1:39I think it's going to be great.
- 1:41Yeah.
- 1:41And we were talking before we started recording that it probably was a good time of year to remind people that they're not the only people out in the woods this time of year.
- 1:47They are not.
- 1:48Yes.
- 1:48Thank you for reminding me.
- 1:50Yep.
- 1:50So hunting season starts pretty soon next week, October 1st.
- 1:53So if you're on any Pennsylvania state game land and you're walking around, I do really recommend wearing a little bit of orange this time of year, especially back in Spring Creek Canyon once that opens up for, you know,
- 2:05deer and pheasants and stuff back there.
- 2:07If you're back there, wear a little bit of orange.
- 2:09It's not a bad idea.
- 2:10You know, who knows who's standing up at a tree stand or, you know, shooting some birds, you know, get yourself well marked out there and don't get shot in the face.
- 2:18Not a good idea.
- 2:20Yeah, not a good look for the 'gram, is it?
- 2:22No, not at all.
- 2:23Nobody wants to see that.
- 2:25So, you know, I could bait you with.
- 2:28I know it's too early for blackberry brandy, but I can bait you with pumpkin spice lattes.
- 2:31I bet you've got classes and maybe a few sales going on in the shops.
- 2:35Yeah, we've got a lot of stuff on sale right now.
- 2:37All our summer stuff is on sale.
- 2:39You know, our website's loaded with sale things right now.
- 2:42Simms Grundens, Patagonia.
- 2:44So lots of that and lots and lots of classes coming up this fall and winter.
- 2:48We've got a ton planned here in State College.
- 2:51We got a really good one coming up soon with Allen Rupp that we've got some space left for here in the Bryn Mawr and State College.
- 2:57So check out our classes online at tcoflyfishing.com because if you want to take a tying class, some on the water classes, some specialty classes, all of our shops have got a bunch of offerings this year.
- 3:09It's a great time of year to get out there and learn a little more.
- 3:11Get yourself ready for the next spring season.
- 3:14Yeah, and I would say too, folks, if you don't know, this Allen is Dave Whitlock's legacy tyer.
- 3:18And I Isuspecthe's probably teaching folks how to tie some of Dave's patterns, right?
- 3:23Yep.
- 3:23He's going to do a streamer class.
- 3:24He's going to do a Near Nuff sculpin class.
- 3:26So it should be really good, really good chance to learn a lot from an outstanding tyer.
- 3:31Well, there you go.
- 3:31Well, listen, I don't want to steal your thunder because I know you've had a hard day today.
- 3:34You want to let folks know where you're located, shop hours and all that kind of good stuff.
- 3:38100%.
- 3:39We are here in State College Monday through Saturday 9 to 6.
- 3:44Sundays 9 to 3.
- 3:46All of our other stores have similar hours.
- 3:48And you can get us on the web at tcoflyfishing.com and we'll see out there.
- 3:54Well, there you go, folks.
- 3:55As I always say, you owe it to yourself to get out there and catch a few.
- 3:58Tight lines, everybody.
- 3:59Tight lines.
- 4:00George.
- 4:00Take it easy, Marv.
