- 0:00Happy Monday morning, everybody. Well, today is a somber day.
- 0:07It's early in the morning. Kim and myself headed to Aunt
- 0:13Pat's funeral. It's going to be a long day.
- 0:18I'll be making sure that I'm by Kim's side.
- 0:24She's not doing too good. She's a little quiet.
- 0:26Aunt Pat was there for Kim and her whole life.
- 0:31So a sad day. All right, Just read a little
- 0:38something on X social media site that made me think about the
- 0:44story that I've told you all a couple times.
- 0:47I would say, oh God, 2020 years ago, I was out in Sonoma and
- 0:56Dale Earnhardt junior was standing at the back of his
- 1:00Budweiser Cup car, the NASCAR Cup car, and he didn't look
- 1:05happy. And I went over to Dale Junior
- 1:08and I said, I've known you far too long.
- 1:11I said, what's wrong? Junior looked at me, goes I'm
- 1:18supposed to be this big time racer and I qualified 25th.
- 1:26I said junior, I said this stuff is hard.
- 1:29Just because you're Dale senior son doesn't mean you're always
- 1:33going to please everybody. So this morning I read on X.
- 1:42He writes a nice little story, he said.
- 1:45I used to dread going to Sonoma, everything about it, the travel,
- 1:50the track. And now he is learn to love it
- 1:57and likes going out there with his wife Amy and enjoying it.
- 2:01All this makes me happy because I can relate.
- 2:09I used to absolutely dread going to Dover.
- 2:13Dover was my worst racetrack. I used to dread it, didn't
- 2:18understand it and then finally one day said I'm going to like a
- 2:22Dover. I'm going to learn this place
- 2:25and I learned to like it, learned to love it towards the
- 2:27end. So I just thought that was
- 2:33really interesting. Sometimes you got to forgive
- 2:36yourself. You know, I I don't like this
- 2:40place where I'm going, but I got to go and now he loves it, so
- 2:45that makes me happy. Congratulations, Dale Junior.
- 2:48Got rid of your damn demons for Sonoma.
- 2:52Well, we're making this big old deal out of Shane van Gisbergen,
- 2:58SVG, the the great Rd. racer of our era.
- 3:03Now, when you live long enough like me, you start to call
- 3:09bullshit on a lot of things. You're like, hold on.
- 3:14So SVG has got some of our fans in an uproar.
- 3:19They're upset because the media is bragging on Shane van
- 3:24Gisbergen. SVG has won Mexico City, the
- 3:31street course in Chicago, and of course he just got done winning
- 3:36Sonoma. Hardly any competition because
- 3:41all the competitors say his skill set is much better than
- 3:48anybody's in the NASCAR Cup Series.
- 3:53They say SVG does not allow the TV networks to film his
- 3:58footwork. In other words, his footwork,
- 4:01wide open, break, heel, toe, you know, clutch all that.
- 4:07He will not allow anybody to watch what he's doing because it
- 4:12allows him to break better, you know, match his shifting points
- 4:17better. He's just damn good.
- 4:22However. However, there was a stretch
- 4:27where the great Jeff Gordon, Jeff Gordon at 1.1 like 6 Rd.
- 4:36course races in a row, 8 out of 10.
- 4:41And there was a time that Jeff Gordon was not just good at
- 4:47everything, but he was a great Rd. racer.
- 4:50Now I'll meet some of you halfway.
- 4:57I would say this is the first time that a road course ringer
- 5:03did capitalize. So in other words, we we've
- 5:06watched Tommy Kendall, Boris said.
- 5:10We've watched a lot of the great Rd. racers come in and never win
- 5:15a NASCAR Cup Rd. course race. So I would say OK, this is the
- 5:21first time an actual great Rd. racer, you know SVG is known to
- 5:30really dominate it and win many championships in what they call
- 5:34the V8 series in Australia. And of course he's from New
- 5:39Zealand just right there. So as far as as far as SVG being
- 5:48the greatest Rd. racer of all time, I'll say let's wait a
- 5:52little longer. Let's let's give it some some
- 5:56more years and let's see if he matches Jeff Gordon.
- 6:00But right now, I'll meet you halfway.
- 6:04There was one point in that race yesterday that I went, what the
- 6:08Hell's going on? They come up the top of the hill
- 6:12there and Noah Graxson spins out.
- 6:16Then they start going down to the bottom of the hill there and
- 6:21they're wrecking each other there.
- 6:24Then Buscher spins Ryan Blaney out.
- 6:29Now this is all in one lap. Then at the very top of the
- 6:33hill, again, not top of the hill, you know, past start
- 6:36finish line, Bubba Wallace and Danny Hamlin spin out.
- 6:42I thought, I thought, oh, my God.
- 6:44Then the announcer out of nowhere.
- 6:45The announcer reads my mind and announcer goes, boy, a lot
- 6:49happening in one lap race fans. I'm like, you think I think
- 6:54about 10 seconds go out and said, Oh my God, what a crazy
- 6:58lap. It's funny though, because the
- 7:00real the real cup racers, they just wrecked the at each other.
- 7:05And to end it all, sure enough, the biggest upset there are is
- 7:11that that in season gambling Ty Dillon.
- 7:18Ty Dillon has won the third round in a row.
- 7:23He comes now first of all, Ty Dillon.
- 7:26You would think now Ty Dillon's a good racer, but you you sure,
- 7:31sure wouldn't think that he would be all over Alex Bowman in
- 7:35the Hendrick car. Come to the start finish line
- 7:38for $1,000,000. Now we're not done yet, but he
- 7:41keeps on rolling. He's all over.
- 7:43Alex Bowman gets down to the very last corner and just pop,
- 7:48just pops. Alex Bowman right now, moves him
- 7:51up. Alex Bowman knew it was coming,
- 7:54and Ty Dillon outruns Alex Bowman and is moving on for the
- 8:02$1,000,000 to win in season Challenge.
- 8:07It was a wild one. Everybody all right, We'll talk
- 8:11to you later. Have a great Monday.
