- Malcolm: know all you people that think y'all are OTF, y'all already know the entire case end to end. But this is for people who have, you know, jobs and don't follow this stuff four seven, including myself. I personally didn't know many details about the trial. I didn't even know like like this was happening until yesterday, bro. Like I seen My boys hit like I already have boys that was hitting the chat. Dirk free, Dirk Free, Dirk Free. I'm like, okay, bro. Like, let's let's let's pop it out. I ain't gonna lie, bro. But respect, you feel me? So just just for the quick rundown for everybody, man. So the federal federal jury ⁓ acquitted Dirk, Dirk Banks, ⁓ on yesterday, September eleventh, on all charges to watch with a twenty twenty ⁓ two shooting that killed ⁓ what was his cousin's name? ⁓ it put his government name on here, but the cousin of rival rapper Thomas: L Lop ⁓ Lo ⁓ Quando Rondo. I thought you were saying the guy that got killed. The guy that was was murdered was ⁓ Lop, but it was Quando Rondo's cousin. Malcolm: ⁓ yeah, yeah. No, it was no, it was it ⁓ it was cut it was Quantor's Quando Rodner's cousin, yeah. ⁓ and so the charges were conspiracy, stalking with a dangerous weapon, stalking resulting in death, and two murder for higher counts. The jury took three days. ⁓ the defense's theory was that his former personal assistant, Kavan Grant, arranged the hit without Dirk's knowledge. Grant and two others in Dirk's circle took plea deals and testified against him. ⁓ defense attacked their credit really as admitted killers, incentivized to implicate him. Thomas: Mm-hmm. Malcolm: ⁓ the two co-defendants convicted on the stalking counts, acquitted on murder for hire, a split verdict, not a clean win for the defense across the board. And another important thing, because I I saw like like this is every single Instagram story and Twitter post I've seen. Dirk is not actually free, bro. Like I like I yes, yes, he beat this this case. I hope people understand that that's he's still he is still in federal custody. Like he still has another second an entirely second trial for for racketeering murder and and firearms charges tied to ⁓ OTF being characterized as a criminal enterprise, which is scheduled to start October 5th, I think. ⁓ so yeah, he he Thomas: Which I think that might be closer to Young Thug's situation over the wise. Malcolm: Yeah, that that's the one wet that's like really gonna be like so yes, you know, hey, miracle Brian still is for is is the greatest of all time. He wants some Harvey Specter timing, but like, yeah, no, he beat one case, but ⁓ this racketeering thing is actually like much bigger, like you feel me? So let's go ahead and and ⁓ kind of like lay that out. So now that we have all the facts straight, So there are a couple things that ⁓ I kinda I guess like a little bit of feedback I had for like this whole thing. So also preface for saying, like, hey, I I I love Dirt Music, bro. Like I think he's an incredible artist. He has music for everybody. When you feeling like a gangbanger, when you trying to hear the love songs, you try to hear the the Chicago drill, when you're trying to hear the rap, the hip hop, like he got he got you feel me the whole the singing, like he got the whole the whole nine, right? What I have seen though, and I think that situations like these kind of like situations like like like in like with Lil Dirk being released or or beating these charges, I think it is very telling about where we are culturally, right? The response that I've seen like elicited like from the black community and like from like our immediate like peers and and people that we know, it it made too it made two things like very clear. One, there are there are like there's there are like an insane number of like parasocial people that just live among us and like it's just like completely normal. Like like when I say parasocial, like I'm talking about like these are people that like like literally treat these celebrities as if they are family members, as if they know them, as if they are like good friends with them. And it is actually like mind boggling, bro. Like I'm seeing videos of people crying that Dirk is out, bro. I've seen videos of people like losing their minds, like literally throwing parties, putting shit on putting stuff on the grill because Dirk is free, bro. And it's like of these people have real family in jail and y'all have never celebrated like ⁓ Hey, I ⁓ it. We love Dirk. He's an awesome artist. We we love to see him back out on the streets, bro. Not literally the streets, but like w we want to see him keep dropping music, right? Yes, we get that.
