- 0:00Speaker 1: We continue on this Texas Tuesday. It has gone final
- 0:02Speaker 1: in Pensacola, number three seed Texas Women's soccer team, the
- 0:05Speaker 1: Texas Soccer team shutting out the eleven ceed LSU three
- 0:09Speaker 1: nil Hollyboard with a pair of goals for the log Warns.
- 0:14Speaker 1: They now move into the semifinals and they'll play on
- 0:17Speaker 1: Thursday against Arkansas, the two seed who won one nil
- 0:23Speaker 1: over Georgia. So that's that's where it'll be on Thursday,
- 0:28Speaker 1: the next time that Texas will play in the SEC
- 0:33Speaker 1: Soccer Championship going on. So it'll be Thursday at six o'clock,
- 0:40Speaker 1: six in the evening our time. Thursday is what it'll
- 0:43Speaker 1: take place. So congratulations to Ange Kelley and the Long Horns.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Hopefully they knock it on through and get on into
- 0:50Speaker 1: the into the championship round. Before we get to hearing
- 0:57Speaker 1: from Steve Sarkison or a couple of things from yesterday's
- 1:03Speaker 1: Long Warned Monday Coach sark news conference that we wanted
- 1:08Speaker 1: to get to. But before we get to that from
- 1:13Speaker 1: those on the text line, somebody said, is it a
- 1:18Speaker 1: law you have to say nil for zero if talking
- 1:22Speaker 1: about soccer. No, any more than there's not a law
- 1:31Speaker 1: that says that you have to say zero in football,
- 1:38Speaker 1: that you have to say nothing fourteen to nothing over
- 1:40Speaker 1: fourteen zero. So that so no, But I have a
- 1:45Speaker 1: soccer background. I did I'd broadcast both indoor and outdoor soccer.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Did indoor soccer for on television radio up in Dallas
- 1:53Speaker 1: for nine years, and did and then did outdoor. I
- 1:56Speaker 1: did the World Cup in nineteen ninety four, thirty years
- 1:59Speaker 1: ago for the World Cup Radio network. And also did
- 2:05Speaker 1: the first three years of the Dallas MLS franchise when
- 2:07Speaker 1: they were known as the Dallas burn before they became
- 2:10Speaker 1: FC Dallas. And that was both on radio and television
- 2:14Speaker 1: back then. So I'm used to saying deal. So you're
- 2:20Speaker 1: not down with this Mingo trade? Then?
- 2:22Speaker 2: For the Cowboys fourth round draft pick giving up for Mingo,
- 2:29Speaker 2: When you look at the other deals that were made
- 2:32Speaker 2: for receivers, it just kind of blows my mind that
- 2:36Speaker 2: the Cowboys gave up that amount of draft capital for
- 2:41Speaker 2: a player like Mingo who has let's see, he's got
- 2:46Speaker 2: twenty six passes. Sorry, he's got twelve passes this season,
- 2:49Speaker 2: twelve receptions for one hundred and twenty one yards, zero touchdowns. See,
- 2:54Speaker 2: he does not move the needle. He's a receiver three,
- 2:57Speaker 2: receiver four, probably down from what I understand, because he
- 3:01Speaker 2: still has about two and a half years left on
- 3:05Speaker 2: his contract and he's locked up. That's why the Cowboys
- 3:09Speaker 2: gave up a fourth round draft pick. But do you
- 3:11Speaker 2: think it's that much?
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean, they gave him a fourth round pick, they
- 3:14Speaker 1: get Mingo and a seventh row a seventh rounder. Oh okay,
- 3:17Speaker 1: they also get a seventh rounder. I mean I for
- 3:20Speaker 1: next year and Mingo in exchange for a fourth rounder.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Was that too much to give up? Well?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Why why are the Cowboys buying Dak? Dak's out for
- 3:28Speaker 2: how long? How many games this team ever lost? Three
- 3:32Speaker 2: in a row. They're not gonna make the playoffs. They're
- 3:34Speaker 2: gonna lose their next at least two games, possibly three.
- 3:37Speaker 2: They're not gonna They're not gonna catch up with that
- 3:39Speaker 2: seventh seed. I mean, look at the NFC, you're gonna
- 3:42Speaker 2: have at least three teams from the NFC North get in.
- 3:44Speaker 2: They're gonna have probably ten eleven wins. And then in
- 3:48Speaker 2: the NFC West there's three teams right there that will
- 3:52Speaker 2: be pretty close to it. It's the Cowboys should be
- 3:55Speaker 2: should be selling in my opinion should be selling. I'm
- 3:58Speaker 2: of the opinion that just tear the whole thing down
- 4:00Speaker 2: at this point. But I don't don't know it's going
- 4:02Speaker 2: to change anything, because if you're Mike McCarthy, you want
- 4:04Speaker 2: to be buying because this is your last last year.
- 4:07Speaker 2: You're lame duck head coach at this point, so obviously
- 4:12Speaker 2: you want to be buying here. But this trade does
- 4:15Speaker 2: not change anything. I mean, they need to be adding
- 4:18Speaker 2: more debt at running back, defensive line. It's just this,
- 4:23Speaker 2: it's I don't, I don't. It's not a trade that
- 4:25Speaker 2: moves a neel for me, right.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So in other words, you are in agreement with the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Texter who said, did not see mingo on a bingo card?
- 4:33Speaker 1: Interested to hear Jerry's lingo. Seems like the rest of
- 4:36Speaker 1: the league is laughing like a dingo. It's one way
- 4:43Speaker 1: to put it, laughing like a dingo. Jerry does have lingo.
- 4:47Speaker 1: He does. Anyway, there's a couple of things let's hear
- 4:52Speaker 1: from Sark. We've been talking a lot of college football
- 4:55Speaker 1: playoff stuff since the first rankings will be released. But
- 5:00Speaker 1: first of all, for those who didn't hear, Sark was
- 5:02Speaker 1: asked in the news conference heard yesterday live here on
- 5:04Speaker 1: Sports Radio AM thirteen hunder the Zone for an update
- 5:06Speaker 1: on Isaiah Bond and Andrew mccoobaugh and is there one
- 5:10Speaker 1: thing he can fix to make him feel more confident?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Both those guys practice today which was really encouraging, and
- 5:16Speaker 3: they both, you know, look pretty good again. It's a
- 5:20Speaker 3: Monday of a game week, and and so how do
- 5:23Speaker 3: they respond each day? I think is important for Drew
- 5:26Speaker 3: and Isaiah, But today was a good start. And I
- 5:29Speaker 3: think for us as a team, you know, our mojo
- 5:35Speaker 3: offensively is one thing I want to get back. You know,
- 5:37Speaker 3: our our our whether you want to call it our
- 5:39Speaker 3: our sense of urgency, our intent, the way we go
- 5:43Speaker 3: about our business. You know, we've got a talented group
- 5:45Speaker 3: of guys that are very competitive. They're tough, they work
- 5:47Speaker 3: really hard, they want to play well. Sometimes you can overtry,
- 5:53Speaker 3: if that makes sense. And and to me, that gets
- 5:56Speaker 3: back into your mojo, that gets back into our swagger
- 5:58Speaker 3: a little bit. And I want to I want to
- 6:00Speaker 3: try to recreate that with the guys because I know
- 6:04Speaker 3: what we're capable of and if we can get that
- 6:06Speaker 3: clicking to go along with what we're doing, defensively and
- 6:08Speaker 3: special teams wise, that would be a huge bonus.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Sark was asked, are there differences between how he dealt
- 6:15Speaker 1: with the first bye week, which of course was as
- 6:20Speaker 1: you know, at the end of September, as opposed to
- 6:23Speaker 1: the second bye week? And are there some young guys
- 6:25Speaker 1: who impressed him while he was looking during the bye week?
- 6:29Speaker 3: Not a whole lot change from a format standpoint, I
- 6:32Speaker 3: think naturally the second bye you hold some guys a
- 6:36Speaker 3: little bit more who just are a little bit more
- 6:38Speaker 3: nicked up. You know, I've been impressed with a lot
- 6:41Speaker 3: of our young players. You know, Kobe Black continues to
- 6:44Speaker 3: make strides. I think Jared Gibson, you know, showed us
- 6:47Speaker 3: a lot last week. Again, you know that both young safeties,
- 6:51Speaker 3: you know, Jordan Johnson, Rebel and Xavier both are kind
- 6:54Speaker 3: of on the come. And so the good part is
- 6:57Speaker 3: it's not always just about on offense and defense. It's
- 6:59Speaker 3: finding roles for them on special teams as well. And
- 7:02Speaker 3: so you know, a lot of those guys have shown
- 7:05Speaker 3: me a lot. I'll say this, I think Sadeir Mitchell
- 7:08Speaker 3: the last two weeks has had his two best weeks
- 7:10Speaker 3: of work here in quite some time. So that stuff's
- 7:12Speaker 3: encouraging to me that we've got a group of players
- 7:14Speaker 3: that are continuing to push one another and push themselves
- 7:17Speaker 3: to be the best they can be, because that's how
- 7:19Speaker 3: our team is going to become really good. And like
- 7:22Speaker 3: I said last week, we're not a finished product. I
- 7:24Speaker 3: think are best football still ahead of us, and we're
- 7:26Speaker 3: gonna need all these guys. I don't know when, but
- 7:29Speaker 3: we're gonna need them all. So we've got to keep
- 7:31Speaker 3: coaching them to be the best they can be.
- 7:32Speaker 1: All right, And then Sarkus asked about this logjam at
- 7:35Speaker 1: the top of the SEC. By the way, Cameron Parker
- 7:38Speaker 1: did more research during the break, you said, there's a
- 7:41Speaker 1: possibility of not a seven but of an eight way
- 7:47Speaker 1: tie at the top.
- 7:48Speaker 2: If Missouri wins out. If they went out, because they
- 7:51Speaker 2: only have two losses, they do not play any of
- 7:53Speaker 2: the other top seven teams in the conference conference. If
- 7:56Speaker 2: they went out, they were to be an eight way
- 7:59Speaker 2: tie first place, but it would still be LSU Alabama.
- 8:03Speaker 1: They have what Oklahoma, Oklahoma, ARKANDENSA and Mississippi State, Sippy.
- 8:10Speaker 2: State, and I think one more team that's losing record
- 8:14Speaker 2: in the conference.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so anyway there could be as much
- 8:19Speaker 1: as an eight way tie atout the conference standing. So
- 8:25Speaker 1: Sark was ashed yesterday at the at the news conference.
- 8:27Speaker 1: If he's paid that much attention to the logjam at
- 8:31Speaker 1: the top of the SEC.
- 8:33Speaker 3: You know, there is a lot of football to be
- 8:34Speaker 3: played here in the month of November, you know, and
- 8:36Speaker 3: how critical all these games are over the next four
- 8:39Speaker 3: weeks for a lot of different teams. Uh. The one
- 8:42Speaker 3: thing that I took away from is all we can
- 8:44Speaker 3: control is us and what we're going to do and
- 8:46Speaker 3: how we can try to go handle our business to
- 8:48Speaker 3: the best of our ability. I think one thing you
- 8:51Speaker 3: learn not necessarily from A and M or from it
- 8:55Speaker 3: was a bunch of teams that you know, had had
- 8:57Speaker 3: games and tough games, and some swung in different directs
- 9:00Speaker 3: like that mental intensity. I talked about of how challenging
- 9:04Speaker 3: that is week to week in this conference, right, you
- 9:06Speaker 3: want to get up for each week and you just
- 9:09Speaker 3: got to fight that drop off because you've got to
- 9:12Speaker 3: stay up again and again and again. And that's what
- 9:14Speaker 3: makes our conference very very difficult. You have to stay
- 9:18Speaker 3: mentally locked in as well as you have to be
- 9:20Speaker 3: physically prepared to play mentally prepared to play. And I
- 9:23Speaker 3: think there's there was a lot of good teachable lessons
- 9:26Speaker 3: from this weekend of anybody can go play anybody at
- 9:29Speaker 3: any time in this league, and it's it's going to
- 9:31Speaker 3: be a heck of a game. And so you saw
- 9:34Speaker 3: it with Vanderbilt their ability to rebound and get get
- 9:36Speaker 3: a big win this weekend. We saw it with Florida
- 9:38Speaker 3: playing Georgia the way that they did even after losing
- 9:41Speaker 3: their second string quarterback. We saw it with South Carolina
- 9:44Speaker 3: and their ability to step up and do what they did.
- 9:46Speaker 3: So it's a challenging league, and that's why we talked
- 9:49Speaker 3: about the kind of mental fortitude you have to have
- 9:51Speaker 3: in this league as much as it is the physical ability.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Okay, there it is, And I'm looking at the type
- 9:57Speaker 1: breaking table the two.
- 10:01Speaker 2: It's fun. How long you just spend on this website tonight,
- 10:04Speaker 2: with like thirty minutes, you think you're gonna get lost
- 10:07Speaker 2: in this.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Maybe it'll be after watching the playoff thing. It'll probably
- 10:11Speaker 1: be while during Lyn and I have the well, it'll
- 10:14Speaker 1: probably be while Lynda and I have the election coverage
- 10:16Speaker 1: on tonight that would be more interesting. Yeah, because you
- 10:20Speaker 1: know one of my favorite guys to watch is Steve Karnaki.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I like to watch him. Which channels on He would
- 10:27Speaker 1: be NBC, so he'll be I think he'll be on
- 10:30Speaker 1: regular NBC. I know he'll be on MSNBC, but I
- 10:33Speaker 1: think he'll be on NBC. Uh, he's on NBC because
- 10:35Speaker 1: he's on Sunday Night Football. They have him doing the playoffs.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Hits him with the touch screen, with the.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Touch screen, the rolled up sleeves on, the white Oxford
- 10:44Speaker 1: shirt with a tie loose, and it's a red tie
- 10:47Speaker 1: and khaki pants.
- 10:49Speaker 2: That's his uniform.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He wears that every time and he will be wearing
- 10:54Speaker 1: it again tonight. I noticed him in action yesterday, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: when we were in the hotel in Las Vegas and
- 11:00Speaker 1: where we walk from the elevators into where the meal
- 11:03Speaker 1: room is. Yeah, and then that that big screen was up.
- 11:06Speaker 1: There were a lot of South Carolina women's basketball fans
- 11:08Speaker 1: watching stuff there. He was already at it. It's already there.
- 11:11Speaker 1: He kind of leans over like this and he's pointing
- 11:14Speaker 1: in us. It's great. It's great television, no matter no
- 11:17Speaker 1: matter who you want to win the election. At Karnak
- 11:20Speaker 1: he's pretty funny and you see him You see him
- 11:22Speaker 1: also on uh on Sunday Night Football when he talks
- 11:26Speaker 1: about all the playoffs
