  [SPEAKER_00]: The Chargers are favored by three with an over under of 43 and a half, so an implied score of like 23 to 20, 24 to 21, something like that with the Chargers coming out on top.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars had won against Division Ravl Houston last week,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Chargers fans are all too familiar with that last time they struggled in the Duval County for a playoff game, 2022 Wildcard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: against Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Both teams very different now, but there's got to be some sort of football karma working for the Jaguars to be taking on the Chargers the week after having a meltdown of their own.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Last time Justin Herbert played the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: His brother was still in college, but now he's a member of the Jaguars practice squad.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, Jaguars practice squad tied in, Patrick Herbert playing against each other as professionals and in general organized sports for the first time ever.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've never really been on opposite side.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So interesting to have both brothers in this game, for sure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've received a lot of comparisons throughout the years, but it's really Herbert versus the Jack Wars defense and Lawrence versus the Chargers defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And there's 10 other guys on the field with them trying to help them out as well, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't Herbert, he scored 20 touchdowns.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So far this year, growing, passing, 19, throwing one rushing, excuse me, with eight interceptions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: While Trevor Lawrence has scored 14 touchdowns, 10 passing, four rushing, with seven interceptions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Herbert is in his second year, and his system while Trevor Lawrence is in his first.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you have Jim Harbaugh.

  [SPEAKER_00]: bringing over his brand of football, you expect them to be a gritty, run first team, but they have really with Greg Roman of all coordinators become a past first operation with Justin Herbert.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you look at the Jaguars, they're still trying to figure out what they are.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They want to be a running team, but they have had a lot of inconsistencies throughout this season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're a team that is heavily penalized,

  [SPEAKER_00]: But looking at the Jaguar's offense on the ground, they have been very good this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Travis ETN has been money.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Bacial Tutton, Lee Quint Allen, playing well behind him, Trevor Lawrence doing a good job with his legs, and the offensive line for the most part, being effective in the run game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: For the chargers, the run game has not been what they expected it to be this year, just in terms of personnel.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Big-time draft pick has missed a good chunk of the year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Najee Harris, as well, so it's been Kamani Vidal leading the way for the Chargers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was a draft crush of mine, a couple years back out of Troy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is a really, really good player in the Jag Wars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Certainly, within the building, but Jag Wars fans should not overlook Kamani Vidal in the way he can impact the game as both a powerful tough runner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and somebody with some elusiveness, quickness, explosiveness.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got a lot that he can bring to the field and the Jaguar's defense generally really good against the run.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They'll need to be on their peasant cues against Comani Vidal and this rushing attack.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they are really, it's a good group.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Unbelievably, back with the chargers after the bears could not figure out how to properly utilize him last year, and he is back in stride, showing that chemistry that he had with Justin Herbert, with all those years together, lad McConkey, and his second year, another really talented receiver, you have Quentin Johnston stepping up and becoming a threat for them all over the field, and then a rendez-gadston.

  [SPEAKER_00]: the son of former NFL wide receiver, Aronde Gazzlin, who did place some wide receiver in college, is actually listed as a tight end.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of a move tight end, one of these modern receiving tight ends, but he should be back this week, and he has been a very effective receiver for the Los Angeles Charters.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars at receiver are looking probably with Jacobi Myers and Parker Washington leading the way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If that's your top group, plus Naomi Brown, who has fallen out of favor, it looks like with his play as of late.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He will be with the team after successful surgery.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He will be training rehabbing in Jacksonville, but not going to be lacing it up for the Jaguars for the rest of the year, unfortunately with that LCL.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're still forcing some turnovers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're still up towards the top of the league and turnovers forced.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Don't tell them that in the fourth quarter against Houston Texans, but they're not really holding up against the pass at all.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL if not de-worst.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Chargers defense kind of the opposite.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They give up yards on the ground.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're giving up over 100 yards per game on the ground and nearly 4.9 yards per carry.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's one of the worst marks in football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They don't force a ton of turnovers generally speaking, although they are capable with their defensive scheme and some of the playmakers they have on that side of the ball.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But they do stop opposing passing attacks with the best of them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do not give up a lot of yards through the air.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jesse Mentor is a really good young defensive coordinator, who I think is poised to eventually be a head coach in this league.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jim Harbaas, as I mentioned, one of the most experienced head coaches in the NFL, not only in the NFL, but in college.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He has led the 49ers, the Chargers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's also led Stanford and Michigan and done an incredible job at each of his stops.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's going up against Liam Cohen, a little bit greener as a head coach.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's his first year he's still trying to figure it all out as a head coach in this league and he's doing it with a first year defensive coordinator, a first year offensive coordinator, and a first year GM and a first year EVP.

  [SPEAKER_00]: have a lot less experience at doing this than Jim Harba in the Los Angeles Chargers, point blank period and of story.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, as I've mentioned or dealing with a ton of injuries, no Travis Hunter, no Eric Murray.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison has not practiced this week.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars starting right tackle and their best offensive linemen.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're hopeful.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like I mentioned, to see Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., and Britain Strange, who have all practiced limited this week.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington returned to the practice field on Thursday.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The chargers, though, they've got injuries of their own.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're running a mash unit at left tackle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They certainly are with Joe Alt for the season, and we're shone Slater out for the season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It hasn't really mattered all that much.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it hasn't impacted their game plan.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, their backups have given up pressure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: No question about it, and they've had a tradition beyond just those two.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They don't have great past pro and every spot, but that has not mattered a lot in the last three weeks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have average 30 points per game, 29.6 to be exact, over their last three.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But three of four before that, they lost.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So they've won their last three games, before that they lost three of four, and before that they started three and oh, you wanna talk about a roller coaster ride of a season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You start as hot as you possibly can, then you lose three of four,

  [SPEAKER_00]: to get to 7 and 3, the Jaguars have currently lost 3 of 4.

  [SPEAKER_00]: A win would not only help them keep pace in the AFC wild card, but also continue to give them a chance in the AFC South, and their internal goal is to win the division to win the AFC South.

  [SPEAKER_00]: A win against the Chargers would get them to 6 and 4.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They would still be a good bit behind the 8 and 2 cults.

  [SPEAKER_00]: but they play the colds twice.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it would keep them in control of their own destiny in their division.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Chargers on the other hand, they're one game back in their division behind the Denver Broncos.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have a small cushion in the AFC wildcard and second place in their division.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is holding the tiebreaker against the Chiefs right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, after beating them on Monday and I football, but the Chargers are trying to hold off the Chiefs

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, a much more important game for the Jaguars, but both teams are going to come into this looking to get a W and move forward.

  [SPEAKER_00]: a really embarrassing slide three of the last four games you do not want to lose four of five, but if you can get back on track against Los Angeles Chargers and win a game against a playoff caliber team, that would inspire a lot of confidence moving forward with the upcoming games being against the Cardinals and the Titans after that.
