Latest / The Paulie & Tony Fusco Show / Why "injured" NFL QBs like Caleb Williams & Jaxson Dart are PATHETIC
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on today's show, we'll tell you why these
- 0:02Speaker 1: so-called injured QBs are a bunch of wussies.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and on the subject of wussies, producer, roll the intro.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Roll the intro. What are you doing? Oh, what's wrong?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Did I hurt your feelings?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to hurt your face if you don't
- 0:20Speaker 1: hit roll.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Why don't you go ahead and do it on your own?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Doing it on your own is how you spend every
- 0:30Speaker 2: Saturday night. Yeah, exactly. Don't worry. Shut up. Bang. Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Coming to you live from Philly, it's.
- 0:41Speaker 1: The number one rated Pauly and Tony Fusco show.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yo, yo, yo. As always, Pauly.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Fusco here with Tony Fusco and Tony.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Huge and important show today. Very important. As we know,
- 0:54Speaker 2: in week.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Two back there, we saw not one, not two, but
- 0:58Speaker 1: three starting quarterbacks go down with injuries, rolling on the ground, screaming, crying.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was like, is this the NFL or nursery school?
- 1:08Speaker 2: You know, Tony? Exactly. You know, I was sitting there
- 1:11Speaker 2: watching this, like, what happened to playing through the pain?
- 1:15Speaker 2: So one of your muscles snapped in half or came
- 1:18Speaker 2: right off the bone. So what? You just got to
- 1:20Speaker 2: walk it off. You got to walk it off. Exactly.
- 1:23Speaker 1: And, you know, it was such a bad look for
- 1:25Speaker 1: the NFL. And that's why today we're bringing you a
- 1:28Speaker 1: special report. The Wussification of the NFL.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Special report.
- 1:34Speaker 1: The Wussification of the NFL. And now, before we tell
- 1:39Speaker 1: you how the whole league is going down in flames
- 1:41Speaker 1: like the Goodyear blimp, remember, if you're just sitting there,
- 1:45Speaker 1: you know, watching this on YouTube or listening in your car,
- 1:48Speaker 1: then you've clearly missed the point.
- 1:50Speaker 2: You know, we're the ones up here working. What the
- 1:52Speaker 2: hell are you doing, you know? Yeah, you think we're
- 1:54Speaker 2: just supposed to sit here and do all the work
- 1:57Speaker 2: while you just sit there doing nothing? No. You like... Subscribe.
- 2:02Speaker 2: You go to Apple podcast right now to rate and
- 2:05Speaker 2: review the show five stars. And also you got to
- 2:09Speaker 2: hype the video on YouTube also. And you also got
- 2:13Speaker 2: to leave a comment on YouTube too. It's just six
- 2:16Speaker 2: to seven simple things. Can't you handle that?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah can't you handle that you know don't be like
- 2:22Speaker 1: our producer back there lazy no actually do something for
- 2:25Speaker 1: once do something anyway all right that's enough of that
- 2:29Speaker 1: let's get right into our special report the wussification of
- 2:33Speaker 1: the nfl special.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Report the wussification of the nfl.
- 2:40Speaker 1: All right, as we told you up top, in week two,
- 2:43Speaker 1: we saw three QBs go down. Jackson Dott, Jaden Daniels,
- 2:48Speaker 1: Caleb Williams, leaving the game, abandoning their teams. Yep.
- 2:52Speaker 2: You know, rolling, rolling off the field. Rolling, exactly. Crying.
- 2:57Speaker 1: See, I cry single handedly ruining the legacy of the
- 3:00Speaker 1: entire NFL. You know, if I'm one of these QBs
- 3:03Speaker 1: from the 70s and 80s, you know, the few that
- 3:05Speaker 1: are still alive because, you know, most of them are dead.
- 3:07Speaker 2: From their injuries.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You know, the ones who are alive, you know, they
- 3:11Speaker 1: must have been rolling in their reclining chairs or whatever, because,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you know, what happened to toughen it out? You know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: playing through the pain. You know, shooting yourself up with
- 3:21Speaker 1: whatever painkiller you could find, no matter how many countries
- 3:25Speaker 1: it was illegal in, you know, just to go out there,
- 3:27Speaker 1: even though you couldn't feel your body from the waist down,
- 3:30Speaker 1: you know, that's what football was all about.
- 3:32Speaker 2: You know, Tony hundred percent. Couldn't agree more. You know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: these young QBs these days, like Jackson dot and Caleb
- 3:40Speaker 2: Williams are so pathetic. Listening to their team doctors, taking
- 3:45Speaker 2: all this so-called sound medical advice and giving their bodies
- 3:50Speaker 2: time to rest and heal in order to prevent permanent
- 3:54Speaker 2: irreversible injuries. It's so embarrassing. It's terrible.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And, you know, people forget this, but back in the 70s,
- 4:03Speaker 1: they didn't have team doctors.
- 4:04Speaker 2: No. The only medical specialist on the sidelines was the
- 4:08Speaker 2: team coroner.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Because that was the only way the teams would allow
- 4:12Speaker 1: a player to come out of the game, you know,
- 4:14Speaker 1: only if they were dead.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Exactly. You know, people forget this, but they didn't have
- 4:19Speaker 2: all these bone doctors and muscle doctors on the sideline.
- 4:23Speaker 2: They just had a roll of scotch tape and, you know,
- 4:26Speaker 2: that string that keeps the pot roast legs together. So
- 4:29Speaker 2: that if your bones broke or your muscles came off
- 4:31Speaker 2: the bone, they would just tape it back on. Or,
- 4:34Speaker 2: you know, if they ran out of rope and tape,
- 4:37Speaker 2: use a staple gun. That way the players could get
- 4:40Speaker 2: back to what's truly important, winning. Exactly. And, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 2: people forget this, too.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They didn't have these fancy X-ray machines and MRIs and
- 4:51Speaker 1: blue tents back then. I mean, if they wanted to
- 4:53Speaker 1: see if a player broke a bone, well, they would
- 4:56Speaker 1: just kick him, you know? And if he screamed and
- 4:58Speaker 1: said something like, you know, kill me now, well, then
- 5:01Speaker 1: they'd know something was wrong. But they'd still send it
- 5:05Speaker 1: back on the field, you know. And then, you know,
- 5:07Speaker 1: when the game was done, well, then they'd reevaluate him again,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you know. And if he was really injured, well, then
- 5:13Speaker 1: they just cut him from the team, you know.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Exactly. And, you know, people forget this, too. but they
- 5:19Speaker 2: didn't have all these trucks and carts to take you
- 5:22Speaker 2: back to the locker room if you were injured. No,
- 5:25Speaker 2: they would tell you to walk, and if you couldn't
- 5:27Speaker 2: make it, they would just leave you there on the
- 5:29Speaker 2: field and, you know, play the game around you. Exactly.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You know, it reminds me of one of the all-time
- 5:35Speaker 2: great moments.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You know, remember when Larry Zonka was hit so hard
- 5:38Speaker 1: he was left paralyzed on the field?
- 5:40Speaker 3: Of course.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And instead of clearing away his body, they just left
- 5:43Speaker 1: him there? Next play, what happens? Tony Dorsett comes running
- 5:47Speaker 1: up the middle, trips right over Larry Zonka's partially dead body. And,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know, Larry Zonka actually wound up getting credit for
- 5:55Speaker 1: that tackle. And it's one of the reasons why the
- 5:58Speaker 1: Dolphins went all the way to the AFC Championship game
- 6:00Speaker 1: that year.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Would not have happened had they cleared away the body,
- 6:03Speaker 2: you know? Exactly. And the worst part is you can't
- 6:06Speaker 2: find highlights of that anywhere. Exactly. I checked, too. And,
- 6:11Speaker 2: you know, talking about other things, people forget this, too.
- 6:14Speaker 1: But back in the 70s and 80s, they didn't have
- 6:17Speaker 1: these stupid injury reports. You know, listing a player is
- 6:21Speaker 1: questionable or probable day to day. No, there were there
- 6:25Speaker 1: were two statuses alive or dead. And even if you
- 6:28Speaker 1: were dead, well, you were still expected to suit up,
- 6:31Speaker 1: you know, just in case the.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Coach called your number, you know? Exactly. And, you know,
- 6:35Speaker 2: people forget this, too. But in 1982, Eagles quarterback Ron
- 6:39Speaker 2: Jaworski's entire leg snapped off while chasing down a fumble.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And instead of falling down and crying like Caleb Williams,
- 6:48Speaker 2: Jaworski picked up the ball and his leg and took
- 6:52Speaker 2: them both into the end zone for a touchdown and
- 6:55Speaker 2: then gave the ball and his leg to a sweet
- 6:59Speaker 2: eight-year-old handicapped kid in the crowd who could then temporarily
- 7:04Speaker 2: walk using that leg all thanks to Ron Jaworski.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yup.
- 7:09Speaker 2: And again, scrub from the internet, you know, you can't
- 7:11Speaker 2: find it anyway. And you know what that is? That's
- 7:13Speaker 2: the NFL covering things up again. You know, they, they
- 7:16Speaker 2: don't want that.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Tell you that quarterbacks ever played through the pain. They
- 7:19Speaker 1: want these wussies, you know, Caleb Williams, you know, running
- 7:22Speaker 1: off the field, you know.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Wussification of the NFL. That's what we're talking about. Speaking
- 7:28Speaker 2: of wussification, the wussification of our show.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 2: What?
- 7:33Speaker 3: You've been bashing Jackson Dart, Jaden Daniels, and Caleb Williams
- 7:37Speaker 3: for not playing through the pain. Where was all this
- 7:40Speaker 3: talk when Carson Wentz got injured in 2017? What?
- 7:44Speaker 2: Huh? Excuse you?
- 7:48Speaker 3: Wentz didn't play through the pain. He went on IR
- 7:51Speaker 3: and he was out for the rest of the year.
- 7:53Speaker 3: So why aren't you bashing him?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Oh, don't worry. I'll be bashing your head with my
- 8:01Speaker 2: frying pan. Yeah, you're going to be out for the
- 8:04Speaker 2: rest of eternity. Now, shut up. Be quiet. We got
- 8:08Speaker 2: other things to get to. In fact, let's get to
- 8:11Speaker 2: the fallout from all these injuries.
- 8:12Speaker 1: OK, first, Caleb Williams, you know, because the Bears are
- 8:15Speaker 1: going to be playing the Eagles Monday night. Well, now
- 8:18Speaker 1: the Bears are facing questions, you know, about who will
- 8:20Speaker 1: be starting that game. Well, Tony, you've got over this situation.
- 8:24Speaker 1: What's your take?
- 8:26Speaker 2: Well, frankly, whether or not Caleb Williams plays on Monday,
- 8:30Speaker 2: he's still going to need to play an important role.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He's got to focus on the man behind him, that
- 8:37Speaker 2: backup quarterback, because Caleb should know from experience, you can't
- 8:42Speaker 2: just shove a guy into that gaping hole that you
- 8:45Speaker 2: left in the offense. You've got to slowly guide him in.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And Caleb Williams is the best guy to show him
- 8:53Speaker 2: how to fill that hole. You can't just expect the
- 8:56Speaker 2: guy to come into that game and into that hole
- 8:59Speaker 2: without properly handling that entry. And if anyone knows how
- 9:03Speaker 2: to handle a guy coming behind him, it's Caleb Williams.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Perfect breakdown there, Tony. And we'll now do the other
- 9:12Speaker 1: backup QB coming in. Jameis Winston taking over for the
- 9:15Speaker 1: Giants now that Jackson Dodd is out. Now, people, haters,
- 9:20Speaker 1: they're saying that this is a downgrade at quarterback.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Please.
- 9:23Speaker 2: That all depends how you look at Jameis' stats.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Right, Tony?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Exactly. You know, a lot of amateurs say that Jameis
- 9:30Speaker 2: Winston's a so-called bad quarterback because he throws double the
- 9:35Speaker 2: amount of interceptions as the average NFL quarterback. But, you know,
- 9:39Speaker 2: that's just a real negative way to look at it.
- 9:42Speaker 2: What you need to do is look at the amount
- 9:45Speaker 2: of passes Jameis Winston throws that don't get intercepted. That's
- 9:50Speaker 2: why I devised a new stat, NIP. non-interception percentage. And
- 9:57Speaker 2: Jameis Winston's NIP is a whopping 96.5%. Wow. And, you know,
- 10:05Speaker 2: think about it. If you're in eighth grade or something
- 10:08Speaker 2: and you get a 96% on a test, you're going
- 10:12Speaker 2: to Harvard. You know, so Jameis Winston is basically the
- 10:16Speaker 2: Harvard of quarterbacks. Very helpful statistical perspective there, Tony.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And, you know, on the subject of stats and perspective,
- 10:24Speaker 1: the Eagles are 2-0, undefeated. Well, that hasn't stopped so
- 10:29Speaker 1: many of these blowhard experts out there from claiming that
- 10:32Speaker 1: they're the worst 2-0 team because their average margin of
- 10:35Speaker 1: victory is three points. But as usual, this is just
- 10:39Speaker 1: the biased anti-Eagles media at work again, isn't it, Tony?
- 10:43Speaker 2: A hundred percent. What's the most important thing a football
- 10:48Speaker 2: team needs to have? Consistency, of course. And the Eagles
- 10:54Speaker 2: are far and away the most consistent team in the league.
- 10:58Speaker 2: They're the only team to win both games and score
- 11:03Speaker 2: exactly 24 points in both games. You can't say that
- 11:06Speaker 2: about inconsistent teams like the 2-0 Bengals. Look at these scores.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Week one, the Bengals beat the Bucs 33-27. Then in
- 11:17Speaker 2: week two, the Bengals beat the Texans 20-6. Where's the consistency?
- 11:23Speaker 2: Nowhere to be found. And, you know, look at the Vikings.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Week one, they beat the Packers 39-22.
- 11:28Speaker 2: But then they beat the Bears 9-3.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Are you an offensive team or a defensive team?
- 11:37Speaker 2: You can't make up your mind. They can't make up
- 11:39Speaker 2: their minds. And don't get me started on the Bills.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Week one, they beat the Texans 36-31. But then they
- 11:47Speaker 2: beat the Lions in week two, 41-31. You know, hats
- 11:51Speaker 2: off to the defense. But the offense... Are you a
- 11:54Speaker 2: 30-point team or a 40-point team? You can't even make
- 11:58Speaker 2: up your mind. How can you make a game plan
- 12:01Speaker 2: when you don't know which offense you're getting week to week?
- 12:05Speaker 2: You can't.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And we're talking about people being unprepared. There's an ESPN
- 12:10Speaker 1: report that a woman claimed that she notified the 49ers
- 12:14Speaker 1: about that 49ers impersonator, Dajon Love.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Eight months before he was arrested.
- 12:20Speaker 1: And yet that team did jack squat.
- 12:22Speaker 2: And well, shame on the 49ers. Right, Tony? Exactly. You know,
- 12:27Speaker 2: if someone is out there on all these social media
- 12:30Speaker 2: platforms pretending to be associated with your football team. you know,
- 12:35Speaker 2: wearing the logo, acting like he's having private conversations with
- 12:40Speaker 2: people in your organization, then you got to shut that
- 12:43Speaker 2: down immediately and have that person put behind bars. You know,
- 12:49Speaker 2: you can't wait months before doing it. Oh, what?
- 12:54Speaker 3: By that definition, doesn't that mean that you two should
- 12:58Speaker 3: be arrested for pretending to be official spokespeople of the
- 13:02Speaker 3: Philadelphia Eagles? Because there's no evidence of that being true.
- 13:10Speaker 3: You should be arrested for breathing.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what nobody's seen any evidence of?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Your penis. Oh, now shut up. Yeah, be quiet.
- 13:22Speaker 1: We're going to take a break and then come back
- 13:24Speaker 1: with Tony's lock bets for week three.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Be right back. All right, we're back from breaking. You
- 13:34Speaker 2: know what that means.
- 13:35Speaker 1: It's time to get out your full scope bet app
- 13:38Speaker 1: because Tony's about to bring you his best bets for
- 13:42Speaker 1: NFL week three. Tony, let's kick it off with Bengals
- 13:45Speaker 1: at Steelers.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers in the Steelers did a great job moving
- 13:50Speaker 2: the ball last week. Unfortunately, most of it went backwards.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So I'm taking the under Steelers negative 78 rushing yards.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Titans at Giants. I'm going to take the under here,
- 14:06Speaker 2: under 100 viewers. Ravens at Cowboys. This game will be
- 14:12Speaker 2: played in Brazil, where there's concerns about the quality of
- 14:16Speaker 2: the playing field. But I've always heard Jerry Jones say,
- 14:20Speaker 2: if there's grass on the field, play on. And I
- 14:24Speaker 2: like that attitude. So I'm actually taking the Cowboys here, 6-3.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Eagles at Bears. The Eagles have proven they are the
- 14:34Speaker 2: most consistent 2-0 team in the NFL, scoring 24 points
- 14:39Speaker 2: in their first two wins. Meanwhile, the Bears went from
- 14:43Speaker 2: scoring 59 points in week one to scoring only three
- 14:48Speaker 2: points in week two. So based on that trend, I
- 14:51Speaker 2: predict the final score of Eagles 24, Bears negative 53.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Boom book it book it and you know you can
- 15:02Speaker 4: also book new in the merch store a new item
- 15:05Speaker 4: just added this go fusco yourself logo wow you can
- 15:11Speaker 4: put it on hats shirts mouse pads just a great
- 15:15Speaker 4: way for you to tell people you're a fan of
- 15:17Speaker 4: the show and also that they should not talk to
- 15:20Speaker 4: you and leave you alone exactly well.
- 15:22Speaker 2: You know Honestly, we're done talking to you. That was terrific.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Somebody I'd like to tell to go Fusco himself. Yeah, exactly.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Can you stop? Producer, what? Just go.
- 15:36Speaker 3: You said Ron Jaworski's leg fell off during an Eagles
- 15:39Speaker 3: game in 1982 and he played right through it and
- 15:44Speaker 3: the NFL deleted all the evidence of that ever happening.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember it happening, bro.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Yep. It's the NFL cover-up, bro. It's because it never happened.
- 15:56Speaker 3: If a person's leg fell off during a game, everybody
- 16:00Speaker 3: would have remembered that.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well, you know what nobody remembers?
- 16:05Speaker 1: The last time you got invited to a party.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what everyone remembers? Banging your mom. Oh,
- 16:14Speaker 2: now shut up. Yeah, let's get out of here. He's
- 16:17Speaker 2: still talking. What?
- 16:20Speaker 3: You said the phrase going down in flames... Like the
- 16:23Speaker 3: Goodyear blimp.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah, bro. Yeah, learn history, bro. Yeah. I did.
- 16:30Speaker 3: That's why I know you were clearly thinking of the
- 16:32Speaker 3: German blimp, the Hindenburg, going down. The Goodyear blimp never exploded.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, well, you know what's never gone down? A
- 16:43Speaker 2: woman on you. Yeah, and on the subject of blimp,
- 16:48Speaker 2: you have a blimp penis. Now shut your mouth. We're
- 16:54Speaker 2: getting out of here.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 16:56Speaker 2: He's still yapping.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Go. You said that there's a lab test called an MRY.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah, bro.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Go ask a doctor, bro.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't need to. It's an MRI. It stands
- 17:13Speaker 3: for magnetic resonance imaging. There's no such thing as an MRY.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well, on the subject of no such thing,
- 17:24Speaker 2: your girlfriend. Yeah, I just checked your lab results. You
- 17:28Speaker 2: tested positive for virgin. Oh, you're done, Tony.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I'm talking about positive. Going out on a positive note.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Just booked on the show next week. Super Bowl hero,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Eagles legend, Nick Foles will be here.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Don't forget, you go to the merch store, you get
- 17:46Speaker 2: that new merch. Buy all the merch. You rate and
- 17:48Speaker 2: review on Apple Podcasts. You don't just sit around. You
- 17:51Speaker 2: do something. You hype the YouTube video. And you hype, too.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And to hype you up, Tony, too, while we're talking hype.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Great job as always. Same to you, Paulie. Another flawless show.
- 18:02Speaker 2: There you go. We'll see people next week. See ya.
