  For everything is all caps and happened on the same weekend

  that saw For The Love of Wrestling in Trafford, not

  Manchester. I refused to claim that as
• 0:55
  Manchester where we saw arguably the best match of the year to
• 1:03
  date. A lot of you will know what
• 1:06
  match that is because you have good taste hopefully.
• 1:12
  But to discuss that show, we are joined by someone making their
• 1:19
  official debut on Brad's grappas, though really it is
• 1:24
  their second appearance. That having been the case, we
• 1:29
  recorded a show if you can cast your minds, back to October time
• 1:37
  when North did their previous show and due to the audio being
• 1:44
  so badly screwed up that it will never make the airwaves.
• 1:49
  Sadly this is the the real debut.

  So to put it one way, imagine someone scoring a hat trick and

  then the game gets rained off and it never existed, which like
• 2:08
  a lot of my episodes so far. But as I say, making his

  official debut on brothers grappas, the correspondent for

  the Northeast as I'm making him from all things N podcast.

  I think just just, we'll just say it was a really bad show and

  we did not want to put it out. That's that's true.

  Even though there was so much just horrible things that we

  It can never. Even though I've gone on record

  as saying it was one of the best shows we ever did, no one will

  ever hear it, at least by all the help I had.

  So we will get onto the show because we have been talking for

  quite a while before we've recorded this.

  We we should now have our feet up and be doing whatever we

  want, but no, we've had a good old chin wag to catch up.

  But you know, that's, that's what happens.

  So to give it a bit of a funny Bones reference, on a cold cold

  night in Leeds down a cold dark dark St in a dark dark venue.

  I was on that occasion while we packed up because it was
• 4:37
  absolutely fucking miserable travelling over.

  Anyone that travels to these lead shows, especially from like
• 4:49
  the northwest side. I don't know if it's the same
• 4:53
  coming from from up north, which again, we we had this discussion
• 4:58
  off it being told you're southern when when you're in the
• 5:03
  northwest and someone's hired does not sound very right.
• 5:08
  But the the bad weather that always seems to attract coming
• 5:15
  to Leeds and traffic problems seem to just go hand in hand.
• 5:22
  I think if Nikki was here she'd probably tell you it's always
• 5:24
  the same, just trotting the M62 or travel as it is.
• 5:31
  But despite the the cold and the freezing conditions, we have the
• 5:38
  warmth of wrestling. Yeah, as we all return back to
• 5:46
  Project House for the third instalment that Norfolk brought
• 5:51
  us, I'll ask you what do you make of Project House?
• 5:58
  Actually one. It's a strange venue because for
• 6:05
  one, it's just looks like you would never see a wrestling show
• 6:10
  in there in a million years. 2 You get pretty much frisked at
• 6:17
  the door from head to toe if you've got anything on you.
• 6:21
  Like, I know my girlfriend last time we went, she sort of, she
• 6:25
  wasn't allowed to take like her umbrella in or certain makeup
• 6:29
  stuff. I wasn't allowed to take like a
• 6:31
  can of deodorant that I had. And I remember coming back out
• 6:36
  and it was raining and they pretty much just left everything
• 6:39
  in the rain, which is really annoying.
• 6:41
  There's a unisex toilet, which I still find kind of bizarre.
• 6:48
  And then I don't know, I mean, it was warmer this time than it
• 6:52
  was last time, but it it wasn't very warm.
• 6:55
  It was it was weird. It was warmish.

  I remember Liam Slater was on the the Patreon podcast for
• 7:04
  North and he was like, I much prefer this because it's so much
• 7:08
  warmer than anarchy. And I was like, yeah, I was like
• 7:18
  when Newcastle is cold, but the Anarchy is such like a tight
• 7:22
  venue and there's a lot of people packed in.
• 7:25
  So it warms the place up where whereas Project House is quite
• 7:32
  open, like there's a big garage door that was, it's pretty much
• 7:35
  open the entire show for people to come in and out.
• 7:38
  So like it can get quite cold in there.
• 7:43
  But thankfully, compared to the last show, which was on a Friday
• 7:46
  night and was a bit up and down in terms of the show, this was a
• 7:53
  lot better crowd, which made for a better just overall
• 7:58
  atmosphere. Thank God, which is what I think
• 8:01
  Bowers and the rest of people at North were praying for because
• 8:04
  it seemed like whether they came back to Leeds was kind of
• 8:07
  resting on this show. And I mean, as we'll talk about
• 8:11
  it, thank, thank God, delivered in terms of wrestling and the
• 8:15
  atmosphere as well this. The first show was a massive
• 8:20
  success. Yeah.
• 8:23
  And it was also in the summer. People got a sun tan.
• 8:28
  I know someone that nearly got heat stroke that went.
• 8:34
  I shouldn't laugh, but I just found that funny.
• 8:37
  The second show, I think because it was on a Sunday, this time
• 8:45
  it. Yeah, that's right.
• 8:46
  Yeah. It didn't help because when you
• 8:51
  have it on a Friday or a Saturday, you can have the
• 8:54
  people, the main North faithful can travel down and they've got
• 9:00
  a whole kind of like weekend they don't have to worry about
• 9:04
  like late trains or whatever. So having it on a Sunday, I
• 9:07
  think that put a lot of people off, which told with the
• 9:12
  attendance as well, because it was not to be a big crowd on
• 9:18
  that occasion. Having it on a Friday night did
• 9:25
  do a lot better. It will be interesting to see
• 9:29
  what the Saturday crowd is going to be like.
• 9:32
  I feel for the we will touch upon later on on the podcast.

  The the venue. I it's, it's a bit of a quirky
• 9:46
  one. It doesn't feel like a an actual
• 9:50
  like wrestling venue and you you look at it.
• 9:55
  Yeah. But it has a there's not enough
• 10:00
  venues that have a bit of a quirkiness to him.
• 10:03
  A lot of them are just like sports halls or church halls.
• 10:08
  And it's just like we're, we'll just put a ring in it, which is
• 10:12
  pretty much what a lot of wrestlers all do.

  They'll go to venues and they'll go you could stick a ring in
• 10:18
  here. Yeah, probably how that came
• 10:21
  about in lead someone went yeah, just like yeah, you could you
• 10:26
  could fit a couple 100 in it, which I'm not complaining about.

  It saves me a lot of money compared to booking a certain
• 10:38
  well known hotel chain up in Newcastle that you can find
• 10:45
  anywhere. Lenny Henry might be trying to
• 10:48
  sell you a bed for the night. Not that I'm saying he's hard
• 10:53
  on, he's on his luck and he now sells beds.
• 10:55
  But you, you know the chair and I'm on about.
• 11:00
  But we will touch on the pre show.
• 11:06
  So I have written a lot of notes for the show but I've condensed
• 11:10
  them down because I had 1.14 pages until I realised I had the
• 11:21
  the font on 16 and then put it down to 11.
• 11:26
  And we are a lot less we are half that.

  But yes the the pre show was that of Ian Skinner, the coldest
• 11:38
  guy in the room. Cool guy with lots of friends.
• 11:42
  Ian if you're watching this, hello he took on Billy O'Keefe
• 11:50
  someone I'm not fully I don't fully know but I know he works
• 11:56
  at True Grit Wrestling and quite a few people have said good
• 12:02
  things about him. Had a good chat with him
• 12:06
  actually after the show. Really good guy.
• 12:10
  So the match itself though, as I repeat what I've just said.
• 12:17
  The coldest guy in the room, Loads of friends, Tries many
• 12:22
  underhanded things after knocking O'Keefe down to the map
• 12:26
  with a shoulder block. Attempts to spit on his
• 12:31
  opponent, but O'Keefe moves out the way, only for Ian to then
• 12:37
  hit the map himself and falling right where he spat.
• 12:42
  Nice little comedy spot there, I thought.
• 12:46
  Skinner then removes the turnbuckle pad using his
• 12:49
  necklace as a weapon. With Ref Katie having so much
• 12:57
  trouble trying to keep Skinner in line in this contest, Skinner
• 13:02
  then shoves her into the ropes. This was when Keef tried to do a
• 13:09
  I don't know if he was trying to do a springboard move because we
• 13:13
  never saw what he was intending to do.
• 13:16
  But obviously Skinner pushing Katie causing O'Keefe to fall
• 13:24
  wasn't the the nicest fall from the ropes because he kind of
• 13:29
  collected the other rope on the way down, which is slightly
• 13:33
  gnarly. Skinner then goes to use the
• 13:36
  necklace again, but we see him and Katie having a little tug of
• 13:42
  war over it. Katie, again, much like a couple
• 13:48
  of times in this show, seems to take more bumps than quite a lot
• 13:54
  of the wrestlers on this show. This is O'Keefe hitting a
• 13:59
  leaping springboard forearm to pin Ian Skinner.

  After the match, Ian pushes Katie claims he that she cost
• 14:13
  him the match. Katie who is not one bit the the
• 14:21
  feistiest or kind of the angriest person, but dear God
• 14:27
  she hit one of the best stunners I've seen for a long time.

  I'm Skinner. Skinner sells the the the
• 14:35
  starter better than the rock and you can quote me on that.
• 14:41
  Ends up in one of the most awkward positions in the rope.

  Katie kind of just milks the applause, as she bloody well
• 14:50
  should, just to kind of like get the crowd all hyped up.

  What was your take on on this contest, if you can remember

  that? Fab.

  Well, I was going to say I was on my way to the hotel.

  I was on my way. I just left the hotel ready to
• 15:08
  go to the show. And you know, my girlfriend's
• 15:11
  getting ready. I'm thinking, you know, we'll
• 15:13
  we'll still be there with plenty of time.

  I'd messaged Bowers on Instagram to be like, is there going to be
• 15:20
  a pre show match just because if there is, I'll try and get there
• 15:23
  a bit early. If not, I'll I'll go for the
• 15:25
  show start. As we were sort of waiting for
• 15:29
  our Uber, they put they put on their Instagram Scott story
• 15:32
  about who's ready for a pre show match.
• 15:35
  And I was like, God damn it, I knew this would happen.
• 15:38
  But we just got there. I think as Skinner was making
• 15:41
  his entrance. But yeah, it was a pretty solid
• 15:44
  match, to be fair. I mean, it definitely got the
• 15:47
  crowd involved straight away, which I think was kind of the
• 15:50
  intention of having Skinner on this show because that's what
• 15:53
  he's really, really good at. I was the same.
• 15:57
  I've never really heard of of O'Keefe, but he definitely
• 16:00
  impressed me. I think that was my first time
• 16:02
  seeing him. So that was really good.
• 16:05
  And then obviously, I mean K is refs all over the place.
• 16:11
  I was telling you before we started filming that I went to
• 16:14
  like Daisy Jenkins charity show in in Edinburgh and she was
• 16:18
  reffing up there and then she always refs at North at
• 16:21
  different shows in like the Northwestern things.

  So to see a get a nice little spot there and like you say, it
• 16:29
  is to milk the stunner for everything that it was is is
• 16:32
  what you want to see. But yeah, that was a great way
• 16:35
  to just kick things off. Because it's the the thing with
• 16:41
  Katie on this show. I even Sandy beach as well.

  They took their lumps on this show but my God they they gave
• 16:51
  them back in a few times but two of the my favourite referees on
• 16:58
  the scene. But after we have the the fun of
• 17:06
  the pre show, we then started off with the battle of the
• 17:12
  initials, as I've called it, as MLD took on HMD man like De
• 17:21
  Reese against hard man Dan this Oh, I'll ask you this before I
• 17:33
  go into like what happened? What were your three thoughts
• 17:37
  going into this match? Well, I think the they've been
• 17:48
  building up a sort of story in North about HMD and how he's on
• 17:53
  a bit of a losing streak and he's been trying to build
• 17:56
  himself up. He's trying to sort of give
• 17:58
  himself this false reassurance that like, no, I'm going to win
• 18:02
  this time, everything's fine. I'm not having a complete
• 18:05
  meltdown. I'm completely saying.
• 18:08
  Whereas obviously Derice, I mean it doesn't really have much
• 18:12
  story direction in North at the moment, but you sort of don't
• 18:15
  need one because he's mine, like Therese.
• 18:16
  So he shows up and does his thing and like everyone's
• 18:20
  involved. Therese.
• 18:26
  Is what I didn't know was that he had another book and on the
• 18:30
  same day I assumed he'd opened the show to just get the crowd
• 18:34
  involved because of the fact that the last show was a bit.
• 18:38
  The atmosphere definitely at the start of the show was a bit
• 18:40
  down. So I assumed, all right, get
• 18:44
  Therese out first. He gets the crowd up, but
• 18:47
  clearly there was another reason that he'd started the show.
• 18:50
  Yeah, that that other reason being that he was on progress at
• 18:57
  the Beck Arena, which I, I'll very quickly touch on this as I
• 19:04
  think I did before the Beck Arena, that is the bowlers
• 19:08
  Exhibition Centre. If it's called the Exhibition
• 19:13
  Centre, you do not need to call yourself an arena, you are a
• 19:17
  centre. Just stay at BEC, drop the
• 19:21
  arena. That's my little Ted Talk.

  Thank you for coming. But yeah, the I went into this

  thinking because I've seen Hardman Dan a couple of times.

  One, I saw him at Bridge Pro in A tag team, I think it was with
• 19:44
  Emperor. I can't remember who they were

  facing off the top of me head. And we didn't really see a lot,
• 19:53
  a lot of him. So I couldn't really make like a
• 19:59
  judgement on him. Then I saw him at Thunderstruck.

  And my opinion went up a lot higher because he did a lot
• 20:09
  more. Yeah.

  And then I saw him taking on Derise and I thought this kind
• 20:17
  of feels like it's just almost feel like it's been put together
• 20:22
  a bit because Padman Dan, I know kind of helps PPW.

  But then again, at this point anyone who isn't from Yorkshire,
• 20:32
  that isn't it. PBW where what you do?

  It slims on XT very much. Yes, but I've there's been a few
• 20:45
  people I've seen that have been like down on undone that they
• 20:50
  don't think he's that good. I personally think he's he's
• 20:55
  good. You I think the kind of like his

  character at times can get slightly lost because I think
• 21:06
  he's still been like working like what?
• 21:10
  What really am I? What's the character, What am I
• 21:14
  doing? And it's progressed every single
• 21:16
  time I've seen him. This was him almost thinking,
• 21:24
  right, I I need to win this. I have to win this.

  I'm going to give everything I can.

  I've lost a couple of matches. I don't want to be like a loser,

  whatever. So we we came into this matchup

  and you know, Debris being the shy reserve type, he is sorry.

  Making new friends with a group of lads that we sat near the
• 21:53
  stage area bringing a lot of energy.

  There was a point where I'm thinking with these like
• 22:03
  trainees that had like come down to like help out and I think it
• 22:09
  became very quickly, no, they were just here for a good time.

  To which I think Derise at times forgot he was supposed to be
• 22:17
  wrestling and also had to dash off later on enjoying himself
• 22:22
  far too much. I genuinely think at one point
• 22:27
  for oh crap I'm meant to be wrestling but we we finally get
• 22:33
  him in the ring and we had both men having near falls.
• 22:39
  Hard man Dan gains control, then kind of pokes the bear by
• 22:45
  ripping the do rag off Derice, which is the equivalent of
• 22:51
  pulling on Superman's Cape. Effectively Derice fires back.
• 22:57
  We we then have one of the all time chants this year where a
• 23:05
  section started chanting you just a shit Rob Beckett to our
• 23:10
  time hard man down and the more you looked at him and the chant
• 23:15
  you thought I can say that. And I think even even Dan had to
• 23:22
  like he was corpsing at one point and had to cover his face
• 23:28
  and Derise kind of derise will laugh at anything.

  To be fair, you don't know if he's ever corpsing or just him
• 23:39
  himself. And for those outside of the UK
• 23:43
  who don't know who Rob Beckett is, it is in reference to a
• 23:47
  British comedian. So we we then have had man Dan
• 23:55
  in my words getting chopped the fuck in this much whose chest
• 24:01
  looks like a Robin by the end of it.

  Adrice then hits a back-to-back German suplex followed by a
• 24:09
  blockbuster off Brett's rope. Dan replies with a knee to the
• 24:15
  face for a 2 before multiple pinball attempts and then we
• 24:23
  have a great back and forth of a matrix cutter from Derise.

  Attempts a sharpshooter but Hardman.
• 24:33
  Dan Rakes the eyes and then finds himself in a ankle lock.

  Submission hold counters it but we'll only see Derise land
• 24:43
  perfectly to put a cross face on him.

  He then gets to the ropes, a hard man down, then hits a big
• 24:51
  spine Buster followed by a even bigger slam for a 2 count.

  And for the second match in in a row, the rule breaker goes after

  the referee. Hamanam pushes Sandy Beach, who
• 25:10
  tries to compose herself. Nope, she shoves him, gets a 2
• 25:18
  count. Luckily for him, but Derice will
• 25:22
  pick up this win with a sharpshooter of which he had
• 25:26
  threatened many times in the contest.

  A great opening match. One of the best opening matches
• 25:35
  you'll see anywhere in a time of 15 minutes and 17 seconds After

  the match it sees Hard Man Dan putting his hand out to Derise
• 25:51
  and the lyrical Dragon just kicks the hand away.

  Performs a kind of Michael Jackson grabbing the crotch and
• 26:01
  dancing away, much to the bemusement of Hard Man Dan as
• 26:07
  Derise returns to the boisterous lads for another rendition of
• 26:13
  Free From Desire and Dancing Away.

  Almost having to be pulled away and told you you need to go now,
• 26:22
  your your planet needs you. But yeah, that was a really a
• 26:30
  fun contest. What were your thoughts on it?
• 26:35
  Yeah, I thought it was a great opener and I thought I thought
• 26:39
  it would be because I think, I mean Therese can't really have a
• 26:44
  bad match. I mean, I'm I'm quite surprised
• 26:47
  there Reese isn't somewhere like NXT or AW.
• 26:50
  And I don't think I think we should probably enjoy it while
• 26:55
  it lasts because there's I feel like within the next year or two
• 26:58
  he's probably going to be gone. And HMDI think, I think he's
• 27:05
  grown massively I think over the last year.

  I mean, the last leads show, he had one of the one of the better
• 27:12
  matches on that show. I think it was him and and Joe
• 27:14
  Wade had a great match and they had a series of matches in North
• 27:19
  that I thought were all really good.

  But yeah, that's just exactly what it should have been.

  I think Derise pointed out that HMD was wearing his pyjamas to
• 27:29
  the ring, which was fantastic because it's what everyone has
• 27:34
  been saying for the last couple of shows.

  Like where is this weird sort of grey joggers ring gear come from

  with like HMD just sort of it looks like it's just sort of
• 27:48
  glued on to the side of his pants.
• 27:50
  But whatever. Whatever floats you bought, I
• 27:53
  suppose. But yeah, I mean, I think HMDI
• 27:58
  think he made like his Rev Pro debut not long ago, like he's
• 28:01
  been with Liam on a few Rev Pro shows and stuff.

  So he's definitely been getting more opportunities lately.

  But this is probably the biggest opportunities had in North for
• 28:13
  quite a while. And yeah, they seem to be
• 28:16
  continuing this story as well where he's on a bit of a losing
• 28:19
  streak. And yeah, I mean, he did offer
• 28:23
  his hand to Derise, which Derise was right now.
• 28:25
  Definitely not because of the way you've acted over the last
• 28:29
  however long. So there's there's definitely
• 28:32
  some story there. But I mean, as sometimes happens
• 28:37
  with N, you know, some people are on certain shows and then
• 28:40
  they're missing for a few and then they come back.

  So he wasn't on the last Anarchy show.

  So we didn't really get any update there.
• 28:46
  But hopefully, you know, if he's on the Leeds show next week,
• 28:50
  we'll that might continue. But yeah, he's been on a bit of
• 28:54
  a losing streak for a while now. I think he lost at the the big
• 28:58
  Weekender. I think he might have lost
• 29:00
  twice. One was to James Storm, which I
• 29:05
  mean, it's James Storm, So what do you expect?
• 29:08
  And then at the start of the game he was in a four way with,
• 29:12
  I think it was Jack Marshall, George Hunter, who's really
• 29:16
  impressive as well. I mean, we'll talk about him in
• 29:18
  a bit. And black, yeah, he does blacks
• 29:24
  amazing as well. I feel like does blacks very
• 29:26
  underrated. But so yeah, he lost that much
• 29:31
  and lost against Derise, which again, I mean it's Derise.
• 29:36
  So Derise loses very few matches on the Indies.
• 29:43
  I was going to say it's one of those times where even a loss
• 29:49
  can make you look better. And this is one of those times
• 29:53
  where, despite it being a loss, he came out of this even better
• 29:59
  than he was going into it. Yeah, yeah, I'd like, I'd like
• 30:04
  to see where they go with it because it's it felt like he's
• 30:08
  had a different sort of reaction every time he's lost.

  Sort of with James Storm, he was just very angry and very bitter.

  And then after the fall where it was kind of like he was just
• 30:19
  trying to sort of motivate himself to be like, no, this is
• 30:22
  definitely he's like, you know, this is this is my big chance
• 30:25
  now I've got the Reese. I'm going to win.

  Everything's fine. And then he lost in in a great
• 30:30
  match. I mean, it's hard to have a bad
• 30:33
  match with the Reese. And then, yeah, his reaction was
• 30:38
  sort of to offer the handshake, which, I mean, we don't know
• 30:42
  what would have happened. I mean, he might have baked out,
• 30:45
  but it seems sort of like he's just completely lost his
• 30:49
  confidence. That's the narrative they're
• 30:51
  going with. So we'll see.

  But it's as far as those group of lads go.

  I mean they were all night long. They were absolutely mental in
• 30:59
  all the in all the in the best way possible.

  Yeah, because I think after that first match, I thought this this

  is either going to be really good or really bad because if

  they get super hammered, you know, and grab someone or or do
• 31:15
  something or start a fight or something else like this, this

  could end really bad. But thankfully they just all

  night long. They were like N biggest
• 31:23
  supporters, which was really nice.

  And I think when North did their Patreon podcast, I'm sure that

  said that spoke to the lads after the show and asked them
• 31:32
  sort of, you know, why, why they wanted to come along or if they
• 31:36
  were even wrestling fans. And I can't remember exactly off
• 31:39
  the top of my head what that said.

  But I think one of them was maybe a wrestling fan and he'd
• 31:43
  just seen a flyer for the show or seen something like a
• 31:46
  Facebook group and brought along a load of his friends.

  Is that I just, I me and my girlfriend were talking about it

  years because he's can do pretty much anything.

  He proved in this match. He can do a bit of more of the

  technical style and he's probably more known for his high

  flying stuff, but it's not it's not his only sort of bag that he

  can dip into. He sort of has a multiple

  different styles that he can go and do so yeah, but this up to

  this point was the best match on the card so far.

  And it was just they they just pasted out really well.

  Because I think sometimes if you go to indie show, it's quite a

  tight knit venue and you try to put on a 20 minutes catches

  catch, can style match where the fans just want to see crazy

  why are you doing this? Especially if you're not good at

  it. But thankfully you have two

  people who are very good at it and also a crowd that wanted to

  match that kind of served its purpose.

  So it was always going to be a bit of a people are still trying

  was just just really cool. I think Emerson's become like, I

  mean, she has always been a great wrestler, but she is one

  of the people you first look to now if she's on a North Shore of

  something she's not used to and held our own massively against

  because he's absolutely everywhere all the time.

  I mean, one week is in Germany, then he's in the UK, then he's

  in the States and like Japan a week after it's it's crazy.

  But yeah, this match itself was really good.

  I thought the stand out was Emerson, and it kind of built

  that story again, of just her fighting back through a lot of

  the fact that him and Judas are still not on the same page, and

  he's trying out this new sort of team with Emerson in this weird

  vortex of, like, ignore the fact that he's a heel and she's a

  friends and now have matching cowboy pants.

  by himself and he's just sad and depressed.

  snaps him out of it. They have a match and that sort

  of brings him back to to life eventually, after months of just

  And now, yeah, he's had a couple of wins towards the back end of
