- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Inside the Birds post game show.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher, Adam Kaplan here, And if we're starting to
- 0:17Speaker 1: sound like a broken record, Adam Kaplan. The Eagles defense
- 0:22Speaker 1: saves the day again. The Eagles win sixteen to nine
- 0:27Speaker 1: over the Detroit Lions, and once again offense struggles defense.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And it happened right around this time last year, Adam,
- 0:36Speaker 1: where the Eagles defense sort of started to get right,
- 0:38Speaker 1: started to get comfortable, and then really took off to
- 0:41Speaker 1: the point that they were number one by the end
- 0:43Speaker 1: of the year. And you're starting to see it now.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And it's funny because the vibe coming out of the
- 0:47Speaker 1: locker room all week long about aj Brown and the offense.
- 0:51Speaker 1: The offensive players said, you know, we can't just keep
- 0:54Speaker 1: making our defense have to be the hero and save
- 0:57Speaker 1: the day. Well, guess what I think the defense is
- 0:59Speaker 1: doing it. They've actually and they're relishing it. They're really
- 1:02Speaker 1: coming together.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and a night where we talked about this to
- 1:05Speaker 2: the pregame show was going to be winning. It was
- 1:07Speaker 2: brutal out there. It was tough that Collinsworth kept talking
- 1:10Speaker 2: about it, how it's got to be tough for guys
- 1:12Speaker 2: like Jared Goff. We don't have power arms where Hurts
- 1:15Speaker 2: has got a strong arm. But we'll get to that overall,
- 1:18Speaker 2: but look, it's a win. The defense was dominant. Talking
- 1:23Speaker 2: to coaches over the years, it's not about sex, it's
- 1:24Speaker 2: about constant, consistent pressure, and that's what you got from
- 1:28Speaker 2: their D line. They were relentless. It's another thing we
- 1:31Speaker 2: talked about in the pregame show is GoF cannot get
- 1:33Speaker 2: out of his own way sometimes, and he could not
- 1:35Speaker 2: get out of his own way. Boy did they get
- 1:36Speaker 2: to him.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:37Speaker 2: We'll talk more in depth in a couple of minutes
- 1:38Speaker 2: about the defense, but overall, to win on our tough conditions,
- 1:42Speaker 2: they had their opportunities in offense. Actually, I thought the
- 1:44Speaker 2: offense was a little bit better than probably most people thought.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It wasn't good enough. Clearly the squitch step on offensive points,
- 1:49Speaker 2: that's bad, but there were some good things. There were
- 1:52Speaker 2: a lot of execution errs in this game, a ton
- 1:54Speaker 2: of them in particular in the first half.
- 1:55Speaker 1: A lot of drops, a lot of drops. I don't
- 1:57Speaker 1: think that had anything to do with the win. I
- 1:59Speaker 1: think I was just there's a lot of drops and
- 2:02Speaker 1: you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, miss some miss blocks and
- 2:05Speaker 1: weird wonk. I mean a very wonky night for the
- 2:08Speaker 1: tush push itself. I've never seen them fail so miserably
- 2:12Speaker 1: had it before. But that's just kind of a microcosm
- 2:15Speaker 1: of this team right now. They take a step forward
- 2:18Speaker 1: sometimes on offense, but two steps backwards. I mean, that's
- 2:21Speaker 1: their signature play. And then you give them a chance
- 2:25Speaker 1: on defense and they come up with stop time and
- 2:28Speaker 1: time again. And in the big picture here, the Eagles
- 2:31Speaker 1: are eight and two, and in this win, no matter
- 2:35Speaker 1: how flawed they might look, they've beaten the Bucks, They've
- 2:37Speaker 1: beaten the Rams, they've beaten the now Detroit Lions, and
- 2:43Speaker 1: they've beaten the Cowboys. So in the NFC they are
- 2:46Speaker 1: sitting pretty right now. They are tied with the Rams
- 2:49Speaker 1: for the best record, but they obviously own the tiebreaker.
- 2:52Speaker 1: There's a lot of football left to play, but I
- 2:54Speaker 1: think it just goes to show barring some kind of
- 2:57Speaker 1: unforeseen collapse and the way their defense is coming together,
- 2:59Speaker 1: that would be hard. The Eagles are ere in the
- 3:02Speaker 1: driver's seat right now, and they're they're making their claim
- 3:05Speaker 1: that it doesn't matter how ugly it looks. At the
- 3:07Speaker 1: end of the day, they got a lot of quality wins,
- 3:09Speaker 1: and they're going to be a very tough out no
- 3:10Speaker 1: matter who they play or win.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah, the Eagles have a better commerce record because the
- 3:14Speaker 2: Rams have only played five games. It's weird. I think
- 3:16Speaker 2: their last.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Well head would take president.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Right they had had it. I'm just saying in terms
- 3:22Speaker 2: of conference record, if you're just looking at you know what,
- 3:25Speaker 2: why the commerce trucker looks like it is because the Rams,
- 3:30Speaker 2: you know, I have only played five conference games. But again,
- 3:32Speaker 2: as you said, the Eagles had they win the tie
- 3:33Speaker 2: record because they beat them when the Rams choke that game.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They by the way they've been with Rams have been
- 3:38Speaker 2: mostly lights out since then. Yeah, very much like the Eagles.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Makes it right to you when you joke like that.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But the strength of victory for the Eagles number one
- 3:45Speaker 2: in the NFC, which is what I actually in terms
- 3:50Speaker 2: of all the playoff bound teams by far, but not
- 3:54Speaker 2: the Rams are number two. Eagles are five thirteen. Rams
- 3:56Speaker 2: are five oh six, and then after that there's a
- 3:58Speaker 2: major drop off term strength of victory, because that's what
- 4:01Speaker 2: you were talking about, is just and they they've played that.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It's funny because we didn't know coming into the season
- 4:07Speaker 2: how good the schedule would be right. You just don't
- 4:09Speaker 2: know about the teams. You think that what they look
- 4:11Speaker 2: like is who they'll be, but they don't always They're
- 4:13Speaker 2: not always going to look like that. But and then
- 4:16Speaker 2: we know the Eagles in two weeks have to play
- 4:17Speaker 2: the Breath of the Bears in that game. All of
- 4:20Speaker 2: the Bears have had a very easy schedule. They continue
- 4:23Speaker 2: to win. Yeah in terms of of well, I shouldn't
- 4:26Speaker 2: say easy schedule. It's just the way that they've won
- 4:28Speaker 2: has been odd.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 4:30Speaker 2: But the bottom line is the Eagles are really good.
- 4:32Speaker 2: The defense carries them. The offense. I thought it won't
- 4:35Speaker 2: get to that. In about thirty seconds here, I thought
- 4:37Speaker 2: the offense did some good things, but it won't be
- 4:39Speaker 2: in the box score.
- 4:41Speaker 1: No will smell I had. I actually had a worse takeaway, honestly,
- 4:46Speaker 1: and again we will. I'd rather start off with defense,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and we will, because that was really I got some
- 4:50Speaker 1: great stuff just talking to guys in the locker room.
- 4:52Speaker 1: We'll get into the offense. But I think what continues
- 4:55Speaker 1: to bother me, but it's really nothing new, is that
- 5:00Speaker 1: just conceptually what they do offensively is just so basic
- 5:05Speaker 1: and so obvious. I thought Actually, I thought this game, Adam,
- 5:09Speaker 1: was a perfect illustration of your biggest issues with the offense.
- 5:13Speaker 1: The two biggest things. One, the ball never gets to
- 5:16Speaker 1: a receiver with an opportunity to get yards after catch.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It's all stop routes, slant routes, comebacks. I mean, I
- 5:23Speaker 1: know the Lions lost, but if you juxtapose how well
- 5:26Speaker 1: the Lions do about getting Jamir gives the ball in space,
- 5:30Speaker 1: getting the ball to Jamison Williams on over so that
- 5:32Speaker 1: he can run after the catch like they did. With
- 5:35Speaker 1: what the Eagles do offensively, it's just literally like throw
- 5:39Speaker 1: it to a comeback at the sticks or or maybe
- 5:42Speaker 1: a quick end. There's just never any opportunities to make one.
- 5:48Speaker 1: But that's my point, right, I mean, look, look what
- 5:50Speaker 1: the Lions do when they get a guy on a
- 5:52Speaker 1: crosser versus what the Eagles do when they get and
- 5:54Speaker 1: so to me, it's just it's amazing that they survive
- 5:58Speaker 1: like this. And again a lot of that is because
- 6:00Speaker 1: of the defense, and and yeah that so that's it's
- 6:03Speaker 1: I'm sort of combining that what you said about the
- 6:06Speaker 1: lack of ability to get the ball to a playmaker
- 6:09Speaker 1: in stride or in space.
- 6:11Speaker 2: That's that's from the tape thing, that's from me.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And I thought, like, when you compare it
- 6:15Speaker 1: to the way the Lions do it, it's it's so obvious, right,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I mean, they just can't do it.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And then I got one way they can correct it,
- 6:22Speaker 2: and it's it's this is just bad coaching. I haven't
- 6:24Speaker 2: said that bad coaching in two years. But to have
- 6:28Speaker 2: Calcaterra have thirty four snaps okay on offense yep, and
- 6:32Speaker 2: lots of have one is embarrassing. I'm sorry. Lot two
- 6:36Speaker 2: is a y tight end. Calcaterra cannot play the way
- 6:39Speaker 2: they've tried it. He plays the f as well, which
- 6:41Speaker 2: is the off set, so you don't keep the tight
- 6:45Speaker 2: end in line. I don't know why they don't have
- 6:47Speaker 2: Goddard and and lots of play together a lot. You know,
- 6:51Speaker 2: it'sund like it's a tell. You don't know who's going
- 6:53Speaker 2: to You don't know if they're gonna run in pass.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It doesn't mean it in twelve personnel where they're gonna
- 6:56Speaker 2: throw the football run, that's not that's not a tell.
- 6:58Speaker 2: It's not the point. The point is a lot too
- 7:00Speaker 2: is a much better blocker than Calculterroo it's just ridiculous.
- 7:03Speaker 2: That is so on your point, because Goddard is exceptional
- 7:06Speaker 2: running after the catch, you could get him if you
- 7:10Speaker 2: decide to throw the football, if you have a lot
- 7:12Speaker 2: to in line as the why you could have got
- 7:15Speaker 2: to go out and run a route and run after
- 7:17Speaker 2: the catch. Now, God, it also had to drop which
- 7:20Speaker 2: would have been run after the catch by the way,
- 7:21Speaker 2: he was wide open.
- 7:22Speaker 1: True that pass that was a bad one.
- 7:24Speaker 2: DeVante Smith drops one on third down.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Right, The fact that we could sit here in pinpoint
- 7:31Speaker 1: the play where there was an opportunity for them to
- 7:35Speaker 1: make yards after the catch instead of you know, a
- 7:37Speaker 1: couple of years ago, there was a lot of you know,
- 7:40Speaker 1: we would talk about the way they use guys and
- 7:42Speaker 1: getting him in space where right now the only way
- 7:45Speaker 1: to get yards after catch is when Hurtz throws a
- 7:47Speaker 1: deep bomb, somebody beats her corner by a couple of
- 7:50Speaker 1: steps and then finishes it off with a touchdown or
- 7:53Speaker 1: a long game. But they that's just what bothers me
- 7:57Speaker 1: and I thought this game in particular, especially watching the
- 8:00Speaker 1: the Lions do it. And I get it. I'm not
- 8:01Speaker 1: trying to credit the Lions after losing a game, but
- 8:03Speaker 1: you just see offensively what they're able to do when
- 8:06Speaker 1: their best players get some space. Just wish that the
- 8:09Speaker 1: Eagles could figure a way to do that, But that's
- 8:12Speaker 1: not the point. The point is the Eagles one. Their
- 8:15Speaker 1: defense was amazing. Let's let's start there, because things are
- 8:19Speaker 1: really starting to round in the form. And this is
- 8:22Speaker 1: the second straight week, Adam that Vic Fangio did not
- 8:27Speaker 1: blitz a lot, just like he didn't against the Packers,
- 8:30Speaker 1: second fewest in the league. I'll check the percentages when
- 8:33Speaker 1: they come out. A lot of sim pressures and those
- 8:35Speaker 1: sims worked really really well on third and fourth down,
- 8:39Speaker 1: but not a lot of five or six man pressures.
- 8:41Speaker 1: If maybe one or two I can remember just just
- 8:44Speaker 1: watching with my eyes. So Vic is starting to get
- 8:46Speaker 1: the defense that he's been trying to put together.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Now they're winning up front. I mean that I know
- 8:51Speaker 2: Tate Rally got hurt, he came back, he was one
- 8:54Speaker 2: of the starting guards. Mahockey is out, Christian ma Hogany
- 8:57Speaker 2: and other starting guard is out. But man, they constant pressure.
- 9:01Speaker 2: It was really amazing to me. In fact, on the
- 9:04Speaker 2: fourth and three, initially the receivers open and then they
- 9:07Speaker 2: pressured gop So Bailey had to throw off his back
- 9:09Speaker 2: foot and Doory Jackson was right on Arman Ross and Brown.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Who did they by the way, they did a phenomenal
- 9:14Speaker 2: job against him. Yehenomenal yep, yeah, Jmo beat him on
- 9:17Speaker 2: the crosser for the touchdown. That's gouldn't happen, gonna happen,
- 9:21Speaker 2: but they hit. They just gave up the one score
- 9:23Speaker 2: and you could thank Jamo for the Eagles never trailing
- 9:25Speaker 2: in the game because of the stupidity of that fifteen
- 9:28Speaker 2: yard penalty. Excessive celebration. Come on, dude, you can't do
- 9:32Speaker 2: that with wind out there. You moved the kicker back
- 9:34Speaker 2: fifteen then I missed it.
- 9:35Speaker 1: It was crazy. I mean, you couple that with some
- 9:38Speaker 1: really bad I thought calls by Dan Campbell, just like decisions,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and man, the Lions just kept shooting themselves in the
- 9:45Speaker 1: foot and the Eagles were willing to let him do it.
- 9:48Speaker 1: But the Eagles made a tougher room. You're right about
- 9:50Speaker 1: the overwhelming front floor pressure. It really came. It came
- 9:53Speaker 1: from the inside. I mean, Jordan Davis, Jillen Carter and
- 9:56Speaker 1: Moro Joemo had the biggest overall plays in the game.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And I went down into the locker room jump by
- 10:04Speaker 1: the way, and Hunter was good, Yeah he was. He
- 10:06Speaker 1: did have a really good game too. I went in
- 10:08Speaker 1: the locker room to try to answer the question of
- 10:11Speaker 1: what went on that they were able to bat down
- 10:15Speaker 1: so many passes.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I know a lot.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I don't go to the locker room and ask questions like, hey,
- 10:21Speaker 1: how how impactful was that or you know, how important
- 10:24Speaker 1: was I want to know why, because when I see
- 10:27Speaker 1: a trend like that, it makes me think that there
- 10:30Speaker 1: was like an intent and a strategy involved. And I
- 10:33Speaker 1: talked to Moro, Jomo, talked to Jordan Davis at length
- 10:36Speaker 1: about it, and it turns out this is fascinating and
- 10:38Speaker 1: this is really Adam since since Vic Fangio got here,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you can make an argument that the Egles have won
- 10:44Speaker 1: sort of the game within the game, or even the
- 10:46Speaker 1: preparation game as much as anybody. So it was brought
- 10:51Speaker 1: to my attention that during the week, remember they had
- 10:54Speaker 1: short week. They came in on Wednesday, right my play
- 10:56Speaker 1: Monday night, and Jeorde Davis couldn't remember who, but they
- 11:01Speaker 1: they had to tell that Jared got He likes to
- 11:05Speaker 1: side arm throws on certain especially when the pressure he's
- 11:08Speaker 1: a big side arm thrower. But they actually practiced that
- 11:12Speaker 1: all week long. As far as jumping off, Yeah, yeah,
- 11:18Speaker 1: they found it. Moro Jomo talked about it, Davis talked
- 11:20Speaker 1: about it, and they saw it and they figured that
- 11:23Speaker 1: there would be opportunities to do that. And you know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: you practice a thousand every week. This is nothing new
- 11:29Speaker 1: like trying to find something a defense at Tel, right,
- 11:32Speaker 1: But for it to happen, to practice it that way,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and for it to actually happen in the game, that's
- 11:37Speaker 1: one of those things where it all comes together. It's
- 11:39Speaker 1: like the chef's kiss. So congratulations, it's really it. Congratulations
- 11:43Speaker 1: that Ego scouting and coaching staff found it the way
- 11:46Speaker 1: they practiced it, because they literally won that game because
- 11:49Speaker 1: of those those those.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Pass I mean they had ten passes defense in the game.
- 11:53Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yep.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And Q had two. He had two, Davis had a three,
- 12:00Speaker 2: which were obviously very impactful. Just a great job Jaylen.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Some look, he may never be a ten sack guy,
- 12:06Speaker 2: but his pressure rates going up. He's playing great defense.
- 12:09Speaker 2: He sets the edge really well. See you've seen him
- 12:14Speaker 2: come out and nickel before, but not as much anymore.
- 12:17Speaker 2: He's he's getting a chance to play on third down
- 12:19Speaker 2: a little bit. But the bottom line is the defense
- 12:23Speaker 2: is deep. Now they have a deep rotation at edge.
- 12:25Speaker 2: It's funny because we rarely start on our postgame show
- 12:28Speaker 2: on defense, but hey, since we are. We got Jalen Carter.
- 12:31Speaker 2: As grec O Selt told us from his tape study,
- 12:33Speaker 2: Carter's almost back to where he was last year. Yes,
- 12:36Speaker 2: Phillips is absolutely phenomenal. I mean he this what Jamar
- 12:40Speaker 2: Race told me when we hosted last week the Pro
- 12:42Speaker 2: Football Report. It was the best defensive debut he could remember,
- 12:44Speaker 2: he asked me, and I couldn't remember anyone was better.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Well he backed that up. Phillips had another good game,
- 12:49Speaker 2: impactful set in the edge, whatever he was asked to do,
- 12:52Speaker 2: whatever his responsibilities are in the play, he's doing. And
- 12:54Speaker 2: he's so long and strong, you know the front and
- 12:58Speaker 2: Ni Kobe Dean was obviously he's been amazing. As we
- 13:01Speaker 2: said at the beginning, but it reversed itself. You can't
- 13:03Speaker 2: play both Campbell and Dean. Well, they're playing Dan over Campbell.
- 13:07Speaker 2: That's just the way it is.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, now they're mixing the but you're right, Dean's
- 13:11Speaker 1: getting way more, way more run now and he's playing
- 13:14Speaker 1: great and mean obviously had two really big stops in
- 13:17Speaker 1: the third and fourth quarter. One was on a sim
- 13:21Speaker 1: you know when they had that third and then fourth
- 13:22Speaker 1: down stop on Goff in third quarter, both run sim pressures.
- 13:26Speaker 1: One was Carter batting down the line, passing the Lion
- 13:29Speaker 1: of scrimmage. The other was Nikobe just getting through and
- 13:32Speaker 1: getting the pressure and sack on Goff and it was
- 13:34Speaker 1: really not that was the pressure later came to sack.
- 13:36Speaker 1: But either way, this is where this is where it
- 13:40Speaker 1: just starts to all fit together. So the Lions are the,
- 13:44Speaker 1: if not the best, one of the best running teams
- 13:47Speaker 1: in the NFL, and the Eagles held them under four
- 13:50Speaker 1: yards per carry, So that means the Eagles had the
- 13:53Speaker 1: Lions not where they're comfortable, like a little bit too
- 13:55Speaker 1: behind the sticks for where the Lions are typically are.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And then because of that, they were in a lot
- 14:02Speaker 1: of good pass rush scenarios and what they practiced throughout
- 14:04Speaker 1: the week with batting passes and just being able to
- 14:07Speaker 1: operate from a too high structure, because that's what Vic did.
- 14:10Speaker 1: He didn't have to bring a safety down because they
- 14:12Speaker 1: were getting pressure with four I mean, it all worked
- 14:15Speaker 1: the way Vic wanted it to work. And like you said,
- 14:17Speaker 1: Nikobe flying around Dorry Jackson going to give up some,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but he also made some big plays. It was just
- 14:23Speaker 1: the right marriage of stopping the run first and foremost
- 14:27Speaker 1: and then getting into really good third and second and
- 14:30Speaker 1: third and lungs and the front four doing its job.
- 14:32Speaker 2: It's only negative and it could have been significant. Yes,
- 14:37Speaker 2: they did great against Gibbs and Montgomery the wrong game,
- 14:40Speaker 2: but Gibbs got them in the pass game. My got it,
- 14:42Speaker 2: you get them. I mean, he just his acceleration is incredible.
- 14:47Speaker 2: For guy, by the way, talking to lines about them,
- 14:49Speaker 2: they didn't realize how big physically he was because you
- 14:52Speaker 2: see him on Cape at Alabama, yep, and then you
- 14:54Speaker 2: get him in your building, you're like, wow, he's a
- 14:56Speaker 2: bigger than we thought. Well, you know, I'm sure they
- 14:58Speaker 2: talked him the pre draft Pross, but his acceleration was
- 15:01Speaker 2: ridiculous and Bucky Irvin got them, you know, earlier this season.
- 15:06Speaker 2: But yeah, that that's just something. When they get to
- 15:09Speaker 2: the playoffs, they're gonna have to do a better job
- 15:10Speaker 2: of whether they hit the running back coming out of
- 15:12Speaker 2: the backfield. Probably something that they need to do a
- 15:14Speaker 2: better job of slowing them up a little bit and
- 15:17Speaker 2: obviously getting that they missed on James and Williams on
- 15:20Speaker 2: the forty yard touchdown and a couple other plays. But
- 15:22Speaker 2: you know, overall, the bottom line is they gave up
- 15:24Speaker 2: nine points. That's incredible, right. I know the Lions had
- 15:29Speaker 2: Sam Laport not playing with significant you can't say it's
- 15:31Speaker 2: not based on what he does in the scene. He
- 15:34Speaker 2: kills defenses within fifty yards down the scene and he's
- 15:38Speaker 2: a great outlet. He didn't play and they rock right
- 15:41Speaker 2: is their wide tight end and you know he would
- 15:43Speaker 2: he really wasn't used much. But the thing I was
- 15:45Speaker 2: so impressed with. I can't say this enough. I'm on
- 15:48Speaker 2: rossaying Brown of twelve targets only two catches that is,
- 15:50Speaker 2: I know they gave a thirty four yard but man,
- 15:52Speaker 2: that that's phenomenal defense.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Mitchell that I mean. I'm telling you it feels like
- 15:59Speaker 1: last year year the way week after week. You know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: they made the change from Maddox to Cooper to gen
- 16:04Speaker 1: coming out of the bye week six against the Browns
- 16:08Speaker 1: played a couple of ugly games that they won, and
- 16:11Speaker 1: then as it kept going on and kept going on,
- 16:13Speaker 1: the defense kept rising until the end. It was number one,
- 16:16Speaker 1: and I know, can this defense be number one?
- 16:19Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 16:20Speaker 1: I mean I think we all would have thought of
- 16:22Speaker 1: Doriy Jackson would have been the Avante Maddox by now
- 16:25Speaker 1: and lost this Yeah, somebody else, but it hasn't happened.
- 16:28Speaker 1: But they're creating great off ball linebacker play. They're now
- 16:31Speaker 1: getting a really good front four rush with Jalen Phillips
- 16:34Speaker 1: and Quinja. Mitchell is better this year than he was
- 16:37Speaker 1: last year, which is because he's a second year player
- 16:40Speaker 1: and he's has improved. And their safety tandem is you know, mccooba.
- 16:44Speaker 1: We haven't really talked about mccoba since like Week four,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and I think that's a good thing for mccouba because
- 16:50Speaker 1: he just hasn't jumped routes incorrectly. He hasn't been in
- 16:53Speaker 1: his head. I mean, he's just gone out there and
- 16:55Speaker 1: played steady football.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah, the Emmy's mental hours are down with him. That's good.
- 16:59Speaker 2: That's a good thing. A couple of notes on the snaps.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Jacareian Bennett only played two snaps and they were both
- 17:04Speaker 2: on special teams. He didn't play on defense. To your
- 17:07Speaker 2: point one of Derry Jackson, That's why Dorry, steven Off,
- 17:10Speaker 2: be Jaqui, and Bennett for Now. BG had that one
- 17:14Speaker 2: great pre like one where he just bust in there
- 17:17Speaker 2: and he made GoF move that he only played eight snaps.
- 17:19Speaker 2: But when you look at a blanket ship Bond, Mitchell
- 17:23Speaker 2: mccouba played every snap all fifty nine. They only had
- 17:25Speaker 2: fifty nine snaps on defense overall the defense did and
- 17:29Speaker 2: then Phil's played forty five, Dean played forty. That on
- 17:33Speaker 2: your point, remember because Dean's Dean's the mic Campbell, he
- 17:38Speaker 2: only saw twenty snaps and Dean played forty, and then
- 17:43Speaker 2: Jordan Davis, you're seeing this a little bit more. He's
- 17:45Speaker 2: not playing quite as many snaps as he has before,
- 17:47Speaker 2: but maybe it's by design. He played twenty nine snaps.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Donald Smith snaps weren't real high at twenty two. Campbell,
- 17:54Speaker 2: as we said it only at twenty. Michael Carter I
- 17:57Speaker 2: did see them. I couldn't tell. I try to tell it.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I try to see if they played dime or nickel
- 18:03Speaker 2: that I couldn't tell by the angle. Maybe Greg has
- 18:06Speaker 2: it when he when his guys chart at NFL Films,
- 18:08Speaker 2: he played one snap and and Coop was in there.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So I you would think it was done, but I
- 18:13Speaker 2: really couldn't tell.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Uh, Cooper was in there on the.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Tush push right now, I'm talking about Michael Carter.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry Carter.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Michael Carter, and he was on one cast, but it
- 18:25Speaker 2: was on a third down.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I think, I think I think the Lions spread it
- 18:28Speaker 1: out and then and the Eagles went to dime.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was done, but I we'll get
- 18:33Speaker 2: that confirmed. But you know, overall, and and Ringo did
- 18:36Speaker 2: not he was phenomenal. We we got to talk about
- 18:38Speaker 2: special teams in a minute. No, yeah, well the defense
- 18:42Speaker 2: is really really good. I don't worry about rankings. I
- 18:45Speaker 2: worry about what my eyes tell me and certain metrics.
- 18:48Speaker 2: How NFL teams measure there. Their discipline now is is
- 18:53Speaker 2: super high. The mental busts that they were having, it
- 18:56Speaker 2: wasn't just mccoob, but it was other players earlier this season,
- 18:59Speaker 2: they're not having them. And the constant pressure on the quarterback.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It's not about sacks, right, it's about getting in the
- 19:05Speaker 2: quarterback's face. This is where teams don't necessarily agree with
- 19:08Speaker 2: PFF and other stats services. Their pressures are. You actually
- 19:11Speaker 2: have to make the quarterback move right spot. How many
- 19:14Speaker 2: times do they make golf move it?
- 19:16Speaker 1: It was pretty damn good, or even just sped up
- 19:19Speaker 1: his clock just to had it too. You a fraction
- 19:22Speaker 1: off on about three digs like deep digs that you
- 19:26Speaker 1: know it went either off Brown's hands or fell out
- 19:28Speaker 1: the ankles. And if you gave him a fraction of
- 19:31Speaker 1: a second longer, both the receiver and the quarterback, then
- 19:34Speaker 1: those might be completions, and those could be backbreaking in
- 19:37Speaker 1: a one score game.
- 19:38Speaker 2: They were in his head. That's the other point I
- 19:40Speaker 2: wanted to make. Yeah in my notes here with the
- 19:42Speaker 2: exclamation point and lamee Bennis would be happy for you,
- 19:46Speaker 2: but exactly and that one and that one. Yes, but yeah,
- 19:50Speaker 2: it was just remarkable to me this Jalen Phillips trade
- 19:52Speaker 2: it well, it's only two games. Don't want to overrate it.
- 19:56Speaker 2: But this is on how he's This could be on
- 19:58Speaker 2: how he's top ten moves in recent memory. Wow, he's
- 20:02Speaker 2: he's healthy, knock on wood, super high character guy. As
- 20:05Speaker 2: we said, he was chiseled out of granite.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Wow. And the fact that he's an what's.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That first sac as an eagle, by the way, only
- 20:13Speaker 1: took him to the second game he's hit.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But the constant pressure that this defense cats, it's just
- 20:19Speaker 2: it's pretty amazing to me. And the death that they
- 20:21Speaker 2: have now all of a sudden, with BG back, with
- 20:24Speaker 2: no Smith's back, with Phillips at it, it's like three
- 20:26Speaker 2: guys dropped out of the sky. Now they're on their defense.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You know, it's pretty remarkable.
- 20:30Speaker 1: It's funny. Beg came out of the shower. He's walking
- 20:32Speaker 1: to his locker. He sees me out of the corner of vice.
- 20:34Speaker 1: He looks at me and he goes, hey, you're back here,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you know, because I'm locking him as much as I
- 20:39Speaker 1: have until this year working for Philly Voice. And I said, well,
- 20:42Speaker 1: you know, you came out of retirement, so I.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Had a hey Man twenty ten for.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Him twenty him. Well, I know I still remember the day.
- 20:51Speaker 1: One more thing on winning the game within the game,
- 20:53Speaker 1: where being the most prepared team. All right, the fake punt,
- 20:57Speaker 1: great example, Eagles had their defense out.
- 21:00Speaker 2: They're not their special team.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Because I and Moro Joem will talk about this after
- 21:04Speaker 1: the game too. He made the stop. He said, yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: we were prepared because they know that it's in Dan
- 21:11Speaker 1: Campbell's bag. It's something he's done before. I thought Dan
- 21:13Speaker 1: Campbell had a kind of a bad game by the way.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yeah, And so again it's not like Dan Campbell does
- 21:20Speaker 1: it week after week. He's done it occasionally enough that
- 21:23Speaker 1: it's on tape and that you have to practice against it,
- 21:25Speaker 1: but you don't know when it's coming. And they left
- 21:28Speaker 1: their defense out there and Moro, Jomo and the front
- 21:31Speaker 1: sniffed it out and they made that stop and that
- 21:33Speaker 1: was such a critical stop. And every stop they made
- 21:36Speaker 1: was critical because it was a one, one score game.
- 21:39Speaker 1: But that was that was again just being ahead, being
- 21:42Speaker 1: in the in your scouting, you're studying your coaching staff.
- 21:46Speaker 1: This defensive coaching staff. Adam has done enough thinking.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I mean I just two years ago when I called
- 21:52Speaker 2: him the JV defensive staff. Oh sorry, but it it
- 21:56Speaker 2: just was not a good staff. It's just remarkable when
- 21:58Speaker 2: you get the adults in the room and heard Vic Fangio,
- 22:01Speaker 2: Bobby Kame, Christian Parker, Yeah, and the rest of those guys.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I mean, it's just it's Joe Casper is phenomenal. I mean,
- 22:07Speaker 2: they it's just remarkable. If you don't think coaching matters,
- 22:10Speaker 2: you clearly don't know football. Coaching matters. It's oh players,
- 22:13Speaker 2: one coaches one a. You can't have one with the
- 22:15Speaker 2: out the other. I've never seen a bad coaching staff
- 22:17Speaker 2: win a Super Bowl. Never seen a bad Uh, the
- 22:20Speaker 2: group of players won a Super Bowl either. It just
- 22:21Speaker 2: doesn't happen. You need you need both. And they've got
- 22:24Speaker 2: it going on and and and you want to talk
- 22:26Speaker 2: about special scenes for a minute.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Here, Yeah, let's hear it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: It is Jake Elliott with that when.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Now, now I.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Know you don't have the windows opening the press box.
- 22:35Speaker 2: You can't you can't see it, can't see when. But
- 22:39Speaker 2: Jake Elliott that forty nine yarder, the way he puts
- 22:42Speaker 2: a draw, he's good at the wind kicking, he knows
- 22:44Speaker 2: how to do it was incredible. Braidon Man was was
- 22:47Speaker 2: fine inside the twenty couple of them, he was good.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And the covers lot to is incredible. They're coverage units
- 22:54Speaker 2: of taking a big jump with Michael Klain and Tyler Brown.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I mean, the covered units were fantasic stick the special
- 23:01Speaker 2: teams were special. They were look, they were part of
- 23:04Speaker 2: this win. There's no way to measure it other than
- 23:06Speaker 2: to say they did their job. Cleif Raymond, who's a
- 23:10Speaker 2: Pro Bowl special teamer. He couldn't get out of his
- 23:12Speaker 2: own way. Yeah, did a great job with him.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yeah. No, Man had a great punt to the eleven
- 23:17Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter, I think only five minutes left. Yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 1: the Eagles had what did they do? They were You
- 23:23Speaker 1: remember there was that third and they had that weird
- 23:26Speaker 1: sack that Hurts took on the other side of the
- 23:30Speaker 1: on the Detroit side of the field. It was a
- 23:31Speaker 1: minus eleven. Then it was third and fifteen. He tried
- 23:33Speaker 1: to hit Aj Brown. It looked to me like Aj
- 23:36Speaker 1: did not. Well, we'll get into the offense. But I
- 23:40Speaker 1: thought that was a fair time to say, did Aj
- 23:42Speaker 1: really go after that? Because they were spread empty and
- 23:47Speaker 1: third and fifteen, I'm like, oh, here's the run up
- 23:49Speaker 1: the middle. No, they went for it. They had him
- 23:50Speaker 1: in a one on one and they didn't get it.
- 23:52Speaker 1: But then Man came through and punted it down to
- 23:55Speaker 1: the Detroit eleven. To your point, which you know, at
- 23:58Speaker 1: that point late in the game, the way the struggle
- 24:00Speaker 1: it had been for the Lions to a run the
- 24:02Speaker 1: ball and then b pass in unfavorable down and distances,
- 24:06Speaker 1: it felt like that was a great opportunity for the Eagles,
- 24:09Speaker 1: and you didn't have the concern you might have had.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And maybe if they were indoors or playing you know,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Alliance team that was you know, lighting up the scoreboard.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Managed seven punts, actually four inside of twenty. Now, he
- 24:20Speaker 2: was really solid. He's got a heat to this point.
- 24:24Speaker 2: He absolutely must get Pro Bowl consideration. But they got
- 24:27Speaker 2: to play the regular season out. Yep, calif Rayman, this
- 24:30Speaker 2: is what I'm talking about. Three he had three returns
- 24:33Speaker 2: for three hearts. That's incredible. Yeah, that's great.
- 24:37Speaker 1: And don't dis count like they had to change their
- 24:40Speaker 1: long snapper a couple of weeks ago because of the
- 24:42Speaker 1: injury to Charlie or whatever it was. Charlie Hewett first
- 24:46Speaker 1: hit back, I think, yes, yes, he had a time.
- 24:49Speaker 1: He really he looks for work. He gets down there
- 24:51Speaker 1: and does a good job.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Now I was like, wait a minute, because I didn't
- 24:53Speaker 2: recognize the number. I'm like, what who is that? Look
- 24:55Speaker 2: the long snapper, Chase Yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah. And the crazy thing is he's not even the
- 25:00Speaker 1: guy that they brought in in training camp when when
- 25:03Speaker 1: there was an injury to Hue, they brought in that
- 25:05Speaker 1: guy Johnstone, who seemed to do all right. Yeah, but
- 25:09Speaker 1: I don't know where they found Klaudamitis from, but they've
- 25:11Speaker 1: done a nice job.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Formerly formerly of the replaced Clark Harris with the Bengals
- 25:16Speaker 2: and any day to bring him back. So basically we
- 25:19Speaker 2: should know before we move over to offense that Josh
- 25:21Speaker 2: Uche clearly is. He's not part of the defensive rotation.
- 25:24Speaker 2: He's just on special teams. He had nine snaps on
- 25:26Speaker 2: defense because BG is the fourth edge. That's it, and
- 25:31Speaker 2: BG only played eight nasty the one really good quality
- 25:34Speaker 2: rush up up field. But again, defense was elite. It's
- 25:38Speaker 2: a hell of a job, really hell of a job.
- 25:40Speaker 2: But they got to play at Dallas, and Dallas's Dallas
- 25:43Speaker 2: if we'll see what happens tonight against the Raiders, but
- 25:47Speaker 2: Dallas is even deeper with their past star.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Hey, it's Jeff Mosher. And if you have a family

- 28:31Speaker 1: going over to offense before, I mean we've already sort
- 28:34Speaker 1: of Chris I saw it, but I'm not a great
- 28:36Speaker 1: game for Nick Sirianni as well. I thought he made
- 28:40Speaker 1: some I don't understand the decision again on fourth and
- 28:44Speaker 1: one on a very bad night for your offense in general,
- 28:47Speaker 1: your running game again not unlocked to go for it
- 28:50Speaker 1: on your side of the field that way.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Here's the thing, not only that, mm hmm. But Jergins
- 28:57Speaker 2: was out of the game. Then Brett Cobson, it comes
- 28:59Speaker 2: in cold, without without without Lane. I know it's I
- 29:04Speaker 2: know he's a tackle, but the point is, no lange
- 29:07Speaker 2: out to the big one is you've made the change
- 29:08Speaker 2: because of the injury. Brett Tooth comes in cold and
- 29:11Speaker 2: you're gonna go for a toush push mm hmm. Ordinarily
- 29:14Speaker 2: if everybody's healthy in the role, and I'm okay with
- 29:16Speaker 2: doing it, but you have to look situationally. You're up
- 29:19Speaker 2: by ten, don't give them the ball back. I know
- 29:21Speaker 2: you're not thinking you're not gonna make a Coaches, don't
- 29:23Speaker 2: think like that, but I thought that I'm with you.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I would I said it for the I'll least say this,
- 29:28Speaker 2: I said. As they were lining up, I'm like, this
- 29:30Speaker 2: is not the time to do it. There's too much
- 29:31Speaker 2: going against you. With jurggons out, this is not a
- 29:34Speaker 2: good decision. We'll see if they get it. They didn't
- 29:36Speaker 2: get it. But the one things that I did like
- 29:39Speaker 2: is I like the changeup of having Hurts under center.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I like that. I like how they came out throwing
- 29:44Speaker 2: on the first drive, not being conservative agreed. I like
- 29:48Speaker 2: that there was just some of the positives now the
- 29:50Speaker 2: timing was off. They were on top of and this
- 29:53Speaker 2: goes to your point. I'm looking at my notes here
- 29:54Speaker 2: and I don't well ask Greg this and see if
- 29:56Speaker 2: you noticed. This is when we do we tape the
- 29:58Speaker 2: show with the inside the tape show with Rag. But
- 30:01Speaker 2: I thought they were two on top of the Lions
- 30:03Speaker 2: defensive backs, the corners on top of the pass routes.
- 30:07Speaker 2: It goes to your point where the crossers certain certain
- 30:11Speaker 2: routes where they shouldn't be. They were sitting on routes.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I thought they were sitting on routes too much. That
- 30:15Speaker 2: that goes to your predictability. I know that's more of
- 30:17Speaker 2: a generality, but that was my issue that I had
- 30:21Speaker 2: with the game, although I liked some of the change
- 30:22Speaker 2: ups that they had.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and by the way, those were the backup cornerbacks
- 30:26Speaker 1: for the Lions. I mean they didn't have their starters,
- 30:28Speaker 1: and then they lost Branch at some point, right he
- 30:30Speaker 1: I know he came back in, but he got hurt
- 30:32Speaker 1: a little bit. I mean they only have one healthy safety,
- 30:35Speaker 1: that starting safety that was Brand.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Branch only missed one Yeah he miss Okay, Yeah, what
- 30:40Speaker 2: happened is he look I thought it looked bad. It
- 30:42Speaker 2: was his left name, and he actually stayed in. He
- 30:45Speaker 2: didn't come out for that snap. He only missed one
- 30:47Speaker 2: snap of the game. But yeah, they the Eagles had
- 30:51Speaker 2: a lot of advantagers. Now, if the weather is better,
- 30:53Speaker 2: it would have it mattered. Who knows, rock Ya scene.
- 30:56Speaker 2: I give this guy credit. Yeah, former Temple star corner.
- 30:59Speaker 2: He's bounced around with six teams and he played a
- 31:01Speaker 2: hell of a game. And by the way, that pass
- 31:03Speaker 2: interference was that was actually a wrong call. I don't
- 31:06Speaker 2: We've been on this now for eight years. We know
- 31:08Speaker 2: the pass interference roles. It's not consistently called that absolutely
- 31:12Speaker 2: was not a pass interference on Rocky scene. That was
- 31:14Speaker 2: a bad whoever was on I thought it was.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, a bad call. God yeah. And
- 31:20Speaker 1: also just from a refereeing standpoint, and why I continue
- 31:23Speaker 1: to think the Twitch push will eventually get banned. The
- 31:26Speaker 1: aerial view, it's weird the Tyler Steen false start because
- 31:32Speaker 1: he put his hand over the lot. He was pointing
- 31:35Speaker 1: at Tyler Williams. This is on the first Twitch push,
- 31:38Speaker 1: right they called it fall or maybe the second. He's
- 31:41Speaker 1: pointing at him because he thinks Tyler Williams is lined
- 31:44Speaker 1: up in the neutral zone. But the aerial view does
- 31:47Speaker 1: not show clearly that he could have. He could have not,
- 31:50Speaker 1: It was not very clear. But but by by trying
- 31:53Speaker 1: to point it out and putting his hand through the
- 31:56Speaker 1: neutral zone, Tyler Stein caused that false start and then
- 32:00Speaker 1: he seemed upset that he got flagged for it.
- 32:02Speaker 2: He was shocked by it, like, well, you put.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Your hand over the nude fills out if you're good,
- 32:08Speaker 1: you're trying to point it out to the referee, but
- 32:09Speaker 1: the referee is not calling it, then you are now
- 32:11Speaker 1: causing the infraction.
- 32:13Speaker 2: So yeah, but by the way, when Zach Berman asked
- 32:15Speaker 2: the pool report. They asked referee Alex Camp. Here's just
- 32:18Speaker 2: quote the official observe the receivers are I'm getting grabbed
- 32:20Speaker 2: and restricting them. Yes, the rule is you cannot restrict movement.
- 32:27Speaker 2: But the problem is they had hand fighting. The ball
- 32:29Speaker 2: was in the air. That that to me was hand fighting.
- 32:31Speaker 2: That that that I watched that place six times. That
- 32:36Speaker 2: was my problem is that past interference is too judgmental. Belichick,
- 32:42Speaker 2: you know Bill Belichick when he was a Patriots head coach.
- 32:44Speaker 2: At the owner's meetings, they would want to be able
- 32:47Speaker 2: to challenge every call. Sometimes they're just bad calls. It
- 32:50Speaker 2: could cost you a game or cost you yardage. It's impactful.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I just didn't agree with it. But oh well, but uh.
- 32:57Speaker 2: The bottom line though, getting back to offense, is that
- 33:02Speaker 2: they've got to be better. The only one offensive touch,
- 33:05Speaker 2: and that drive was really good. By the way, that
- 33:07Speaker 2: was a really good drive. I don't think you and
- 33:10Speaker 2: I aren't agreeing on this one. I don't think it
- 33:11Speaker 2: was as bad as you thought. We're not as good.
- 33:15Speaker 2: I did like the change ups there. I'm just gonna tie.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I like the change ups. I liked it and got
- 33:20Speaker 2: Brown involved. He led them by far and targets eleven.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Was to me like he averaged seven yards per catch
- 33:28Speaker 1: involved just to say I got a J. Brown involved,
- 33:30Speaker 1: There was no there was no signature a J. Brown moment.
- 33:33Speaker 2: There was someone. They had a couple where coverage was tight,
- 33:37Speaker 2: that was the problem. But on your.
- 33:39Speaker 1: That's like five backups out there.
- 33:41Speaker 2: No, I hear it. Really you gotta try, but no,
- 33:43Speaker 2: But on your point, though, it's the design of the
- 33:46Speaker 2: past game. There's there's the best coordinators get get find
- 33:52Speaker 2: a way to get guys open space. And that's where
- 33:56Speaker 2: Sirianni and and Patula have to do a better job.
- 33:58Speaker 2: That's on them. I mean that's like submitt he got
- 34:02Speaker 2: his five and now he obviously had he had the
- 34:04Speaker 2: one drop on third down, but he had five targets
- 34:06Speaker 2: just one catch. Look at how contested those those Baltimore
- 34:09Speaker 2: that that was the thing that a lot of them
- 34:10Speaker 2: were contested. Now, I like the one play for thirty
- 34:13Speaker 2: four yards was a great throw by that hurts the Dotson.
- 34:16Speaker 2: It was a broken down play. Yeah that again that
- 34:19Speaker 2: was not the design of the play. Right counts, But
- 34:23Speaker 2: yeah it counts.
- 34:24Speaker 1: But I feel like that's their offense is like backyard,
- 34:27Speaker 1: like the touchdown against the Vikings to A. J. Brown
- 34:30Speaker 1: that was like you know, oh you're yeah, yeah like that.
- 34:34Speaker 1: There's so much of that.
- 34:36Speaker 2: It's it's gotta be frust but really you need to
- 34:38Speaker 2: really use me, right right? Yeah, get in the structure.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Yeah that it's too random right now, that that's kind
- 34:46Speaker 2: of where there are. The run game was up and down.
- 34:49Speaker 2: But Bigsby, what you want to talk to the epitome
- 34:51Speaker 2: of a change up. You can't. You cannot adjust the
- 34:55Speaker 2: way that he runs. It's so different than Barkley. Talk
- 34:58Speaker 2: about a change up that that works. It's empty yard
- 35:00Speaker 2: was beautiful four for thirty four. He is we questioned
- 35:05Speaker 2: in that as everyone else did as a running back.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Are you ever going to use him? And now that
- 35:10Speaker 2: they have, he's been terrific.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Yes, he has been. It weirdly feels too that when
- 35:14Speaker 1: he gets the ball, the lanes just look a little
- 35:16Speaker 1: bit more wide open for him. Maybe it's because the
- 35:19Speaker 1: defense isn't expecting it as much as when Barkley gets
- 35:22Speaker 1: the ball. And I do think, Adam, some of the
- 35:25Speaker 1: issues we're talking about are going to continue to linger
- 35:27Speaker 1: and be more offensive line oriented. For example, they did
- 35:31Speaker 1: try to get Barkley a nice little I don't know
- 35:33Speaker 1: if it's a screen I'd have to watch. But obviously
- 35:37Speaker 1: Cam Jurgens, who's just coming back and still doesn't look
- 35:40Speaker 1: like the Cam Jurgens of the past, he couldn't get
- 35:42Speaker 1: his body on anzelone, right, And uh and they you know,
- 35:46Speaker 1: Barkley got leveled for I think minus eight on that.
- 35:49Speaker 1: That's not that's that's execution. That's not like a bad
- 35:52Speaker 1: play call or you know, a lack of trying to
- 35:55Speaker 1: get a guy in space. It's just the offensive line
- 35:58Speaker 1: has not executed at the highest level.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and that one and then the other one, the
- 36:02Speaker 2: Fred the other screen, the Fred Johnson was late.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Oh god, the blog.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah they missed that. Yeah, they know there were a
- 36:06Speaker 2: ton of execution errors, but make a good point about
- 36:09Speaker 2: the structure of the past game. It's just you have
- 36:12Speaker 2: a guy's not called plays before, but it's remember he's
- 36:15Speaker 2: running Sirianni's offense. It's everyone I've talked to who's granted
- 36:18Speaker 2: Eagles tape said it looks very much the same as
- 36:21Speaker 2: twenty three and twenty four when Shane Steichen was here.
- 36:24Speaker 2: People I love how they give him credit and it's
- 36:26Speaker 2: fine because the results were what they were. The defense,
- 36:29Speaker 2: the league had no idea how to play a J
- 36:31Speaker 2: Brown and Hurts together, right, They didn't play deep coverage
- 36:34Speaker 2: like they started doing twenty three.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Yep.
- 36:36Speaker 2: And and Sirianni in particular, because it's the scheme, he's
- 36:39Speaker 2: failed to adjust to what the defenses have done starting
- 36:42Speaker 2: in twenty twenty three, just has not done a good
- 36:43Speaker 2: enough job. That's a fair statement, because we're talking to
- 36:46Speaker 2: people are telling us this that this scheme looks exactly
- 36:49Speaker 2: the same. That's on Sirianni.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Also, they highly regulated the RPOs after twenty twenty two,
- 36:54Speaker 1: so that they started calling those illegal man down fields,
- 36:56Speaker 1: which was happening all the time. But just going on note,
- 37:00Speaker 1: and that really forced the egos have to scale back
- 37:02Speaker 1: on their usage of them because it's really hard to
- 37:06Speaker 1: really pull that playoff or if you're going to do
- 37:08Speaker 1: it as much as they were doing it in twenty
- 37:10Speaker 1: twenty two without having having that issue.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and I just and do want to add
- 37:15Speaker 2: I liked the QB draw yes with her straight away.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Yep.
- 37:21Speaker 2: I really the two of them obviously had the touchdown
- 37:24Speaker 2: but on the push, but the twelve yard aer was
- 37:27Speaker 2: really nice.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Yep, it was another one too. There was one or two.
- 37:32Speaker 1: And what I liked about the second one at him
- 37:34Speaker 1: is that who's the linebacker fifty five? Is that Barnes? Yes, Okay,
- 37:39Speaker 1: he knew the second one was coming like they were spread,
- 37:42Speaker 1: which takes.
- 37:42Speaker 2: The box empty. They went empty twice.
- 37:45Speaker 1: He shot the gap because he knew it was coming,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and Hurts still put a move on him, got a
- 37:50Speaker 1: good block and was able to get it. So when
- 37:52Speaker 1: you have a play that the defense knows is coming
- 37:54Speaker 1: and you still execute it, that's awesome. And if you
- 37:57Speaker 1: go back to Monday night against the Packers, if he
- 37:58Speaker 1: doesn't fumble at the end, they peanup, punched it out.
- 38:02Speaker 1: They're three for three on that play over the last
- 38:04Speaker 1: two weeks.
- 38:04Speaker 2: So oh yeah, the play can run bad and they
- 38:06Speaker 2: move right down the field right right.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So you used to do it quite a bit. They
- 38:09Speaker 1: stopped doing it, I think because it was part of
- 38:11Speaker 1: the predictability, But now it's back. Yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Look, there were some good runs by Barkley in the game. Overall,
- 38:17Speaker 2: we just have to accept everyone who watches Eagles has
- 38:20Speaker 2: to accept the offensive lines not even remotely close to
- 38:23Speaker 2: as good as last year. It's not going to get
- 38:24Speaker 2: anywhere close to a lead again. You got Lanes hurt,
- 38:28Speaker 2: Jorgens got hurt late. Even when they've been together, they
- 38:32Speaker 2: other than the one Giants game, they've not really played
- 38:34Speaker 2: particularly well for a full game. They have what they have,
- 38:37Speaker 2: they have to be better. They'll get better, but they're
- 38:39Speaker 2: not gonna be a lead against the point because they're
- 38:41Speaker 2: just physically not the same. For whatever reason, it's just
- 38:43Speaker 2: the tape looks like it like it looks. I know
- 38:45Speaker 2: that they've had some timing ours, they missed some blocks,
- 38:48Speaker 2: well that counts, I mean, that's part of it. But
- 38:51Speaker 2: we know that they're capable playing better, and you would
- 38:53Speaker 2: hope that will happen. But there were some couraging signs
- 38:56Speaker 2: with Barkley and obviously with Bigsby as a changeup that works.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I mean, by the way they rather about forty times,
- 39:03Speaker 2: that's pretty remarkable to me.
- 39:05Speaker 1: It is, especially since they didn't have a very good
- 39:06Speaker 1: average of running the ball, so to be able to
- 39:09Speaker 1: do it was was pretty Yeah. Yeah, yeah, Hey, Philly fans.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines, We've
- 39:18Speaker 1: all been there. But when it comes to your cannabis,

- 40:13Speaker 1: I'm resigned to the fact as we finish this off,
- 40:16Speaker 1: that you know, the Eagles and Broncos are going to
- 40:18Speaker 1: meet in the Super Bowl and their fans are going
- 40:21Speaker 1: to be excited about it, but the rest of the
- 40:23Speaker 1: America is going to hate it because it's going to
- 40:25Speaker 1: be about a seven to three game, or maybe a
- 40:27Speaker 1: five to two game. And that's just how that's just
- 40:30Speaker 1: how we're headed.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Man. You'rean Harmer and the Bob of the ninth Eagles
- 40:34Speaker 2: who hits it.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Three run Homerskell, Yeah, a walk off field goal that
- 40:40Speaker 1: gives the Eagles a five to two win. Two safeties
- 40:43Speaker 1: and a field goal, and that's where we're headed to.
- 40:46Speaker 1: In February in Santa Clara, they.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Won the game offensive offensively, they have to be better.
- 40:52Speaker 2: They know that they'll have a chance against a team
- 40:54Speaker 2: that's not very good defensively against the in Dallas, Big
- 40:57Speaker 2: d at four twenty five on Sunny. But before we
- 41:00Speaker 2: get out here, tons of content Andrew to check o
- 41:02Speaker 2: did you check did check out Daily? And all the

- 41:17Speaker 2: halftime with the Tier twos and Tier threes. They showed up,
- 41:21Speaker 2: Holy smokes. I wasn't sure if how many people would
- 41:24Speaker 2: show up because some of these people live locally, and
- 41:26Speaker 2: it was phenomenal. We at a packed house and we
- 41:29Speaker 2: got Greg you and Greg tomorrow night. I have Tier
- 41:34Speaker 2: twos and Tier threes, so on Wednesday, I would love
