- Sean Graver: Well, something's going on at home right now and it followed you to work today, whether you wanted it to or not. Maybe it's a hard conversation you haven't resolved or or a health scare or a relationship strain, but it's something that's keeping you up at night. And now you're sitting at your desk trying to focus on a task list that feels a thousand miles away from what's actually on your mind. Well, my name is Sean. Welcome back to Prayer Before Work. And the Apostle Paul writes something in Philippians four, verses six and seven, that I think speaks directly into a moment like this. It's he writes, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Now he says. in every situation, which includes the one right now at your desk in the middle of distractions. You don't have to pretend the personal stuff doesn't exist while you're at work and you don't have to solve it from your office either. But what you can do is hand it to God in the moment it surfaces. Even in the brief moments between work tasks, instead of carrying the full weight of it by yourself throughout the entire day. I mean this is an actual exchange, right? Your anxiety for his peace. And it's offered in one kind of vulnerable and honest moment in in time where you just open your heart and talk to God. I mean some days that peace will feel obvious. Other days it it'll just be enough to get through the next hour. But they both count. Well let's pray. God, we've got things weighing on us today that have nothing to do with our job, and we can't just switch them off because we're at work. But help us bring these worries to you instead of carrying them by ourselves all day. Give us enough peace to get through what's in front of us right now, even while the bigger situation is still unresolved. And be nearer to the people we love who are part of what we're carrying right now. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Now go make today count.
