- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Powered by Seahawks.com. Now, here's your host, Nassau Chobie. Welcome
- 0:11Speaker 2: in to another edition of Hawk Talk. Yes, we are back.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Seahawks taking on the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch bump,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and it feels good to be back, dog.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It does, man. The turnaround was quick.
- 0:21Speaker 3: That's what happens when you win Super Bowls, you know
- 0:23Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Sure, offseason, but I'll take it.
- 0:25Speaker 1: If that's the cost of doing business and the Seahawks
- 0:27Speaker 1: are in the Super Bowl every single year, I'm all
- 0:29Speaker 1: for it.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Gladly.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? But let's just get right
- 0:31Speaker 1: into it, dog. It's been a long offseason. Hard Knocks
- 0:34Speaker 1: was here. A lot going on here at the Virginia
- 0:36Speaker 1: Mason Athletic Center. Coach McDonald headed into year three. Super
- 0:40Speaker 1: Bowl champ. All the things that went into it. You
- 0:42Speaker 1: have a new offensive coordinator. Bunch of new players in
- 0:45Speaker 1: the draft.
- 0:47Speaker 2: 53's out.
- 0:47Speaker 1: The Seahawks roster's out. We're getting ready for week one.
- 0:49Speaker 1: What jumped out to you the most when you look
- 0:51Speaker 1: at this roster?
- 0:52Speaker 3: First one, a receiver, baby. Let's go Montori Foster. One
- 0:55Speaker 3: of the stars of Hard Knocks. I love seeing that.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Peace out to Cody White. Love Cody. I'm glad he
- 1:00Speaker 3: found a home with the Raiders. But, yeah, Foster beat
- 1:03Speaker 3: him out. And then, obviously, the running back situation, right?
- 1:05Speaker 3: No canine. What's Jadar going to look like? We haven't
- 1:07Speaker 3: seen him all preseason. Offensive line looking good. You got
- 1:10Speaker 3: five guys coming back there. Defensively, you add Dante Fowler.
- 1:14Speaker 3: You got the OG D-Law coming back. Avery Smith is
- 1:17Speaker 3: a sneaky one. I want to see what happens with him,
- 1:18Speaker 3: and I like that addition over there. And Ty, Ty Okada, man,
- 1:21Speaker 3: he is the starting safety for this team. So, not
- 1:24Speaker 3: a lot of turnover, but there's been some change. Yeah,
- 1:26Speaker 3: I mean, you coming in, obviously you add a couple rookies.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I'm really excited to see where Price can bring the table.
- 1:30Speaker 3: He was on Hawks Live the other night and really
- 1:32Speaker 3: just a bright kid.
- 1:33Speaker 2: He's fast.
- 1:34Speaker 1: You got to see that inside look on hard knocks
- 1:36Speaker 1: with people talking about number eight.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I think he's going to flash. I'm excited to see that.
- 1:39Speaker 2: You mentioned Ty Okada.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I love how Ty and Drake Thomas were playing in
- 1:43Speaker 1: third preseason game.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Not anymore.
- 1:45Speaker 1: They were no preseason because they're stars on this team,
- 1:47Speaker 1: which I love. And I think the cool thing about
- 1:49Speaker 1: those two specifically is I'm excited for them to not
- 1:52Speaker 1: just be a good story anymore.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 2: They're good football players.
- 1:54Speaker 1: They're starters on a defending Super Bowl champion for a reason,
- 1:57Speaker 1: so I'm excited to see that. Obviously, the rest of it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But I'm going to say it, and we're probably going
- 2:01Speaker 1: to say this a lot this year. This is the
- 2:03Speaker 1: most disrespected defending champ of all time in any sport.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I tried to think about it. I was like, well,
- 2:10Speaker 1: maybe the 2020 Lakers, but they're the Lakers, so people
- 2:13Speaker 1: still talk about them. Maybe the 99 Spurs because of
- 2:17Speaker 1: the lockout. No, this is the most disrespected team. And
- 2:20Speaker 1: I honestly kind of love it for this locker room
- 2:22Speaker 1: because these kind of guys, they thrive off that kind
- 2:24Speaker 1: of stuff. No one's talking about it. Let's hand the
- 2:26Speaker 1: Rams the Super Bowl already and just keep moving, I guess.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Crown them. You know what?
- 2:29Speaker 3: I'm waiting to see if the Knicks are disrespected because
- 2:32Speaker 3: no one's talking about the Knicks. It's funny that both
- 2:34Speaker 3: of these teams had the years that they had because
- 2:37Speaker 3: no one was expecting either team to do much. So, yeah, man,
- 2:40Speaker 3: keep the disrespect coming. I think they operate the best
- 2:43Speaker 3: when they have a little chip on their shoulder.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Oh, no question about it. They're built for this. Everyone's
- 2:47Speaker 2: talking about the Rams. Cool.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I mean, I think Hard Knocks did a great job
- 2:50Speaker 1: of showing what the culture is like in this building.
- 2:52Speaker 2: And none of that's fake. That's real.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And that's why they are where they are. But there
- 2:55Speaker 1: was a Super Bowl they won. That's the last time
- 2:57Speaker 1: they played those Patriots. What's on tap?
- 3:00Speaker 2: What's on tap? New England Patriots.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Last year, they were 14-3 class of the AFC. Won
- 3:07Speaker 1: the AFC East. Ended up beating Denver in the AFC
- 3:09Speaker 1: Championship game. Denver obviously had a quarterback issue there. But
- 3:13Speaker 1: Patriots heading into the season with a lot of expectations
- 3:15Speaker 1: from last year. Um, obviously they have the big names
- 3:17Speaker 1: are still there. Drake may Hunter Henry Stevenson, Christian Gonzalez,
- 3:21Speaker 1: who's still working on that contract.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Then you add AJ Brown, Romeo Dobbs.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So they're obviously still a really good football team. They
- 3:27Speaker 1: were really good on the road last year. They were
- 3:29Speaker 1: undefeated on the road. They were own one in.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Neutral site game. So played in Santa Clara.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I got there, you know, anyway, but looking at the
- 3:36Speaker 1: tail of the tape, these teams, when you look at
- 3:37Speaker 1: last year stats, obviously we can talk about this a
- 3:39Speaker 1: lot of time. We don't have any stats from this year,
- 3:41Speaker 1: so we're just going off where the teams finished last year. Obviously,
- 3:43Speaker 1: it was the last team the Seahawks played. When you
- 3:45Speaker 1: look at New England, I mean, offensively, they were third
- 3:48Speaker 1: in total offense, sixth in rushing offense, fourth in pass offense,
- 3:51Speaker 1: second in points per game. So they were lighting it
- 3:53Speaker 1: up offensively. Didn't happen in the Super Bowl, but they
- 3:55Speaker 1: have a lot of talent. Yeah, and defensively, they were
- 3:58Speaker 1: solid as well.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Eighth overall, fifth against the run, ninth against the pass,
- 4:01Speaker 3: and fourth when it comes to points allowed on the
- 4:02Speaker 3: other side. The Seahawks, eighth overall, tenth run offense, eighth
- 4:06Speaker 3: pass offense, and third when it comes to points per game.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And defensively, we know one of the, if not the
- 4:11Speaker 3: best defense in the NFL last year.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and the numbers don't even do it justice. Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 1: you led the league in scoring defense. You were like
- 4:18Speaker 1: third in rushing, but they were really first in yards
- 4:21Speaker 1: per carry because he just ran the ball a ton
- 4:22Speaker 1: against them. They did all they needed to do there defensively. Patriots,
- 4:26Speaker 1: they're still pretty good. Eighth in total defense, fifth in
- 4:28Speaker 1: rush defense, ninth in pass defense, fourth in point the loud.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So when you look at it on paper, these guys
- 4:32Speaker 1: were really evenly matched heading into the Super Bowl. Obviously,
- 4:35Speaker 1: we know what happened there. So it'll be interesting to
- 4:37Speaker 1: see what version of the Patriots come out, right? Because
- 4:40Speaker 1: I think I read somewhere where they have a lot,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I think about 24-ish players that weren't on the roster
- 4:46Speaker 1: last season, on the roster now, outside the big name.
- 4:48Speaker 1: So it will be interesting to see there. But we'll
- 4:50Speaker 1: keep going with these two teams and know your history.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Know your history.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Seahawks lead the all-time series 12-9, including the playoffs, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: the Seahawks have actually won the last four games against
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Patriots. Since 2000, Seattle's the only team that has
- 5:04Speaker 1: a winning record against New England with a 4-2 mark,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and Seattle joined San Francisco and Philly as the only
- 5:09Speaker 1: teams to have a winning record against New England at
- 5:11Speaker 1: Gillette Stadium. We know what happened the last two times
- 5:14Speaker 1: these teams played.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It was a beatdown.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Obviously, we've talked about it, but it could have been
- 5:21Speaker 1: one of the best defensive performances in the history of
- 5:24Speaker 1: a Super Bowl.
- 5:25Speaker 2: And we were so close.
- 5:26Speaker 1: We don't get those garbage drives in the second half.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Really, this was the fourth quarter. This game would be different.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I mean, it went punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, end
- 5:33Speaker 1: of half, punt, punt, fumble with their first 10 drives.
- 5:37Speaker 2: It was insane. The Seahawks defense was all over them.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Had 54 tackles, six sacks, eight tackles for loss, 11
- 5:43Speaker 1: QB hits, and that's just a defensive line unit alone.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It was a beatdown.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I'm hoping to see more of the same, obviously, when
- 5:49Speaker 1: these two teams match up on Wednesday.
- 5:51Speaker 2: At Lumen, field bump, but it's been.
- 5:54Speaker 1: A lot of drama, a lot of things happening in
- 5:57Speaker 1: the NFC West.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Let's check on it. What's the word? Where my soldiers at? Westside!
- 6:01Speaker 2: Where my soldiers at? Westside! And the Seahawks are the
- 6:04Speaker 2: NFC West champs again. What's the word in the West
- 6:09Speaker 2: on Hawk Talk? Sitting at the top, you got to
- 6:13Speaker 2: dethrone us. You know what I mean? So we're looking
- 6:15Speaker 2: at last year's record. The Hawks were 14-3. The Rams 12-5.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Niners 12-5.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And the Cardinals 3-14. Clearly the toughest division in the
- 6:24Speaker 3: The NFL. The Seahawks, they had one of the greatest
- 6:27Speaker 3: seasons in franchise history. You win the Super Bowl, you
- 6:29Speaker 3: won 17 games, man. And you add the postseason to that,
- 6:33Speaker 3: you get 17, 14 wins in the regular season.
- 6:36Speaker 2: It was awesome, man.
- 6:37Speaker 3: The Seahawks also set a franchise record, a road record,
- 6:40Speaker 3: are 15-2 on the road under Mike McDonald. We talked
- 6:43Speaker 3: about the Patriots, yeah, undefeated on the road, but Mike
- 6:45Speaker 3: McDonald knows how to get these guys going. Ten consecutive
- 6:48Speaker 3: wins to close out the season. Paul Moyer called it,
- 6:51Speaker 3: and the Seahawks delivered, man. They became the first Super
- 6:55Speaker 3: Bowl champion to go throughout the entire postseason without a turnover.
- 6:58Speaker 3: We know that was the knock on Sam Donald, right?
- 7:01Speaker 3: 22 turnovers. Can he handle it? Yes, he can. Took
- 7:04Speaker 3: care of the football. Clean football in the playoffs.
- 7:06Speaker 2: No question about it.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And then that team where you won the Super Bowl
- 7:09Speaker 1: in that building in Santa Clara, the 49ers, they had
- 7:12Speaker 1: a big bounce back season in 25. They won 12 games.
- 7:14Speaker 1: They get back into the playoffs. They still had injuries.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You lost Nick Bosa. You lost a bunch of other guys.
- 7:18Speaker 1: They go on the road. They beat Philly. Huge road win.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Then they come to Seattle, get their doors blown off
- 7:24Speaker 1: in the divisional, 41-6. And they've had one hell of
- 7:28Speaker 1: an offseason in all the worst ways.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It's been interesting.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'll just leave it at that. They remain super talented.
- 7:34Speaker 1: They still got dogs on that team. They're all coming back. Yes,
- 7:37Speaker 1: they're very old. They're one of the oldest teams in
- 7:39Speaker 1: the NFL if you go through their starters. But they
- 7:41Speaker 1: still have to be dealt with. So it'll be interesting
- 7:43Speaker 1: to see what team the 49ers put out there on
- 7:45Speaker 1: the field this year.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you know when they're healthy. You got to watch
- 7:47Speaker 2: these dudes, man. You got to watch those guys. But Arizona. Arizona.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It was tough for them in 2025, man. It was tough.
- 7:54Speaker 2: They finished three and 14.
- 7:55Speaker 3: They lost 15 of their last 16 games. Goodness gracious,
- 8:00Speaker 3: including nine in a row to close the season. They
- 8:02Speaker 3: started two and oh, things were looking good over there.
- 8:04Speaker 3: They fired their coach and former Ram offensive coordinator. Mike
- 8:07Speaker 3: LaFleur takes over. They drafted Jeremiah love with a number
- 8:10Speaker 3: three pick. We know our guy here to Darren price
- 8:12Speaker 3: is familiar with him. I don't expect much from the Cardinals,
- 8:14Speaker 3: but they do have some talent over there.
- 8:16Speaker 2: They got, You got Price.
- 8:17Speaker 3: You got Michael Wilson, who just signed a big contract,
- 8:19Speaker 3: 75 mil, I think 50 guaranteed. You don't look over anybody,
- 8:24Speaker 3: but the Cardinals got a lot of work to do.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, is Marvin Harrison, is he going to be the
- 8:28Speaker 1: player that they hoped he was when they drafted him?
- 8:30Speaker 1: You know, Jacoby Brissett had, like, the long contract holdout.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He's back.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I think LaFleur's a good coach. I think, obviously, he
- 8:36Speaker 1: runs in the family. Anyone that's off of that McVay
- 8:38Speaker 1: coaching tree will be interesting. But, man, 15 of 16,
- 8:41Speaker 1: when you say that out loud.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Bro, you imagine being a fan? Could you imagine doing postgame? No.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I'm all out of excuses. Oh, man.
- 8:49Speaker 1: My guy, Omo in Arizona. I'm feeling for you, dog.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And then lastly, we're talking about the Rams bump. The
- 8:56Speaker 1: team that somehow still talking about the two point conversion
- 8:59Speaker 1: that happened in that game.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Get over.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Seahawks won the next two games, obviously. And anyway, we
- 9:04Speaker 1: know what happened last year, but they're going for it
- 9:06Speaker 1: all this year. It's undeniable the talent they have on
- 9:09Speaker 1: the scene. Trent McDuffie, Miles Garrett, Aaron Donald coming back.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But they've already been crowned by everybody of how good
- 9:16Speaker 1: they are, and they're just going to win the Super Bowl.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It's at SoFi. It's in L.A. All the stars are lining.
- 9:21Speaker 2: It's all set up. Here's the deal, Bump.
- 9:24Speaker 1: They are amazing. Like, you can't deny how good they
- 9:27Speaker 1: are when you look at it on paper. That's why
- 9:29Speaker 1: you play the games. I would love to see what
- 9:30Speaker 1: happens the first time there's some adversity. Miles Garrett's used
- 9:33Speaker 1: to dominating, and he, I mean, come on.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Look at him. You look at his resume. But he's
- 9:38Speaker 2: always been a guy.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Now, are you going to be cool with getting seven
- 9:40Speaker 1: sacks or ten instead of 25 or, you know, whatever
- 9:43Speaker 1: it is?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Let's wait and see what happens. Another crazy thing is
- 9:47Speaker 1: the Seahawks don't play them until Christmas.
- 9:49Speaker 2: A long time from now.
- 9:50Speaker 1: A lot of things for both teams is going to happen,
- 9:52Speaker 1: could happen before. So we'll see what's going down. We
- 9:54Speaker 1: know the Rams are a legitimate force, but so are
- 9:57Speaker 1: the Seahawks. And until someone changes that, someone's got to
- 10:01Speaker 1: throw in the Hawks because they're still on top of
- 10:02Speaker 1: this division. But let's flip our attention back to the
- 10:05Speaker 1: New England Patriots.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Man up. Hey, who you got? Who you got? You
- 10:10Speaker 2: know what time it is. Man up. Man up, brother.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Man up. Man up on Hawk Talk. Start with the
- 10:15Speaker 2: quarterbacks bump. Yep.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Drake may former third overall pick really elevated his game
- 10:20Speaker 1: in 2025. Help the Patriots go from four and 13
- 10:23Speaker 1: to 14 and three.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Flip that. Come on now.
- 10:26Speaker 1: He finished the season 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns. The
- 10:30Speaker 1: most by Patriots quarterback since Tom Brady in 2017 rushed
- 10:33Speaker 1: for 450 yards in four touchdowns. Sneaky good athlete there
- 10:37Speaker 1: along with leading the league in several passing categories.
- 10:40Speaker 2: He did everything.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Well, I mean his completion rate, uh, Passer rating, QBR,
- 10:46Speaker 1: all the different stuff. You can go through all these stats.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I have a million next-gen stats. I'll skip over them
- 10:49Speaker 1: because he was a dog last year. He was a
- 10:51Speaker 1: pro bowler, second-team all-pro status. Then they played the Seahawks.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And if you look at the stats from the Super Bowl, 27-43, 295,
- 10:58Speaker 1: two touchdowns and two interceptions, that is so misleading.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Because you look at that and you're like.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Okay, he played pretty well. If you take away the
- 11:07Speaker 1: fourth quarter, those stats are good God. But anyway, it
- 11:09Speaker 1: was what it was. He's talented. he can swing the
- 11:12Speaker 1: rock he's elevated their team and now he has clear
- 11:15Speaker 1: elevation we'll talk about the receivers that he's thrown to
- 11:17Speaker 1: now but you add a.j brown you add romeo dobbs
- 11:20Speaker 1: that's an upgrade from what he was thrown to last
- 11:22Speaker 1: year but uh it'll be interesting to see if the
- 11:24Speaker 1: seahawks are able to get after him the same way
- 11:25Speaker 1: they were in the super bowl.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah draymond's a baller no no denying that uh that
- 11:29Speaker 3: baller saw the seahawks defense so it looked a bit
- 11:31Speaker 3: different there's a clip i saw on the sideline um
- 11:34Speaker 3: He gets hit, and Vrabel's like, you want to keep playing?
- 11:37Speaker 3: You had to ask him if he wanted to keep playing,
- 11:40Speaker 3: and he hesitated for a little bit.
- 11:42Speaker 2: All right, let's get back in there.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I'm glad he got up and got back in the game.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Let's talk about our quarterback. Sam Darnold did his thing
- 11:48Speaker 3: in 2025. Shut all the haters up, man. 28 wins
- 11:52Speaker 3: in the last two seasons, tied for the most wins
- 11:54Speaker 3: in consecutive seasons by quarterback since who?
- 11:57Speaker 2: Thomas Brady.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He became the second quarterback in NFL history to record
- 12:00Speaker 3: 14 wins in consecutive seasons, joining who? Thomas Brady. Whenever
- 12:04Speaker 3: you talk about Tom and you at the table, things
- 12:06Speaker 3: are good, man. He had nine game-winning drives in the
- 12:09Speaker 3: fourth quarter or overtime since 2024. The most in the
- 12:12Speaker 3: NFL was a Pro Bowl selection, fourth highest passer rating
- 12:15Speaker 3: in conference championship game history. I like what my man did.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Completed 67% of his passes, 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, 14 interceptions.
- 12:20Speaker 3: We'll clean that up. Was a Pro Bowl selection, man.
- 12:23Speaker 3: When you just look at him, Obviously, I.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Think we've talked about this all other times, but when
- 12:34Speaker 1: you watch Hard Knocks and you look at the spin
- 12:35Speaker 1: rate and you see all that stuff, he throws one
- 12:37Speaker 1: of the best deep balls in the National Football League.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm just excited to see him this year, another year. Yes,
- 12:42Speaker 1: another offensive coordinator, but the continuity in offense is there.
- 12:44Speaker 1: The whole offensive line coming back. Another year with Jax
- 12:47Speaker 1: and Cooper. Now Rashid got a full off. So I'm
- 12:50Speaker 1: excited to see what Sam can do. And we're going
- 12:53Speaker 1: to talk about this a lot over the year. But
- 12:55Speaker 1: will he be in MVP consideration? I think he might.
- 12:58Speaker 1: It's a hot take.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Just throwing it out there. I mean, it was a
- 13:00Speaker 2: little bit last year. Half the year, so why not?
- 13:03Speaker 2: I think it happened. Let's flip over to the Patriots.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Running backs, Ramondre Stevenson and Travion Henderson versus Seahawks front seven.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'm going to lead with this, because those are two
- 13:13Speaker 1: really good football players, but they're going against this defense.
- 13:16Speaker 1: The Seahawks have not allowed a 100-yard rusher for a
- 13:19Speaker 1: franchise 26 consecutive games. Longest streak in the NFL. And
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the last time the hundred yard rushers,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I was in that bills game at home in 24.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And if you look at that, I think that was
- 13:30Speaker 1: like Ernest Jones, like second game, or maybe it was
- 13:32Speaker 1: his first game.
- 13:33Speaker 2: You look at that team now in this team now.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Like they, good luck running the football. And they only
- 13:39Speaker 1: allowed 3.7 yards, a carry last year to running backs.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Stevenson.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He's a six year in six year in new England.
- 13:46Speaker 1: He had one thousand yard season, 2022. They're kind of
- 13:49Speaker 1: a one, two punch.
- 13:51Speaker 2: If you look at it, he had 603 yards.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Henderson had 911 yards. There were some injuries there. But
- 13:57Speaker 1: when I look at both these guys, I feel like
- 13:59Speaker 1: the Seahawks have the advantage here. Both of them are
- 14:04Speaker 1: dual threat. They can catch the ball out of the backfield.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I think Stevenson's a hard runner. I think Henderson does
- 14:08Speaker 1: some good things to compliment him there. But this is
- 14:10Speaker 1: about the Seahawks for me. I think the Seahawks defensively,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you look at Byron Murphy, you look at Jaron Reed,
- 14:16Speaker 1: you look at Leonard Williams inside, you look at Ernest Jones,
- 14:18Speaker 1: Drake Thomas. It is hard to run the football on
- 14:20Speaker 1: this team. Good luck moving 91. Yeah, and he should
- 14:24Speaker 1: have been a pro bowler last year.
- 14:25Speaker 2: 9-1. Yeah, for sure.
- 14:27Speaker 3: So we got a nice little combo with that interior
- 14:29Speaker 3: defensive line, and we'll see if they can hold up
- 14:31Speaker 3: against these guys. I put my money on the Seahawks.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Let's talk about our running backs. You got Price taking
- 14:36Speaker 3: over for K-9. George Alana, who's been here. Emmanuel Wilson
- 14:38Speaker 3: coming over from the Green Bay Packers. They're going up
- 14:41Speaker 3: against this past defense. It's a whole new backfield. Like
- 14:44Speaker 3: we said, Ken Walker's gone. Charbonnet's recovering from knee injuries.
- 14:47Speaker 3: We'll see him maybe halfway through the season. I'm hoping
- 14:49Speaker 3: like four weeks in, right? He can get off that
- 14:51Speaker 3: IR list. But it's going to be on Price. First-round pick.
- 14:54Speaker 3: He drafted him for a reason. Let's see what he
- 14:55Speaker 3: can do. He played in 41 games at Notre Dame.
- 14:58Speaker 3: 1,692 yards, 21 rushing touchdowns. He had 11 receptions for
- 15:01Speaker 3: 152 yards and three touchdowns. Also got busy in the
- 15:05Speaker 3: kick-return game. 12 kick-offs, kick-returns for 450 and three touchdowns
- 15:09Speaker 3: in his final season. Played in all 12 games. He
- 15:13Speaker 3: emerges one of the nation's most versatile playmakers. I watched
- 15:15Speaker 3: his film. I mean, there's some wiggle. There's some speed.
- 15:19Speaker 3: There's some power. Whatever you need. You got it. I
- 15:21Speaker 3: can imagine going up against Notre Dame with Love and
- 15:24Speaker 3: Price in the backfield. He's going to bring that to
- 15:26Speaker 3: the Seahawks, man. We spoke to him the other day.
- 15:28Speaker 3: He seems ready, confident. Paul Moyer said he put his
- 15:32Speaker 3: hand on his back and felt a muscle on top
- 15:33Speaker 3: of a muscle.
- 15:34Speaker 2: So my man is.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Ready to go, man. He was named to multiple All-American
- 15:38Speaker 3: teams in 2025. This dude's ready. And I'm excited. And
- 15:41Speaker 3: he's healthy.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I wasn't mad that he didn't play in the preseason.
- 15:44Speaker 2: He's healthy. Give him the rock. Let's see what he does.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm super excited. And I think a lot of
- 15:48Speaker 1: questions about Price was about his pass-catching ability. Multiple times
- 15:53Speaker 1: throughout camp, I know it's not a regular season game,
- 15:55Speaker 1: we saw him get busy catching deep balls. He had
- 15:57Speaker 1: a long deep ball catch against the Titans in the
- 15:59Speaker 1: joint practice there. So I'm excited to see what we
- 16:01Speaker 1: get from him.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Obviously, you have Helani.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You have Emmanuel Wilson that can kind of support that
- 16:05Speaker 1: running back room as they wait for Sharps to come back.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But all of them have done good things. Kalani can
- 16:10Speaker 1: be a good third down back. They can switch it up.
- 16:12Speaker 1: They can pass protect. So I'm excited to see what
- 16:14Speaker 1: those guys can do against that Patriots defense. Now we're
- 16:17Speaker 1: looking at the offensive weapons for the Patriots. This is
- 16:21Speaker 1: the biggest game changer for them, in my opinion.
- 16:23Speaker 2: A.J. Brown, Romeo Dobbs. You have Demario Douglas in there
- 16:26Speaker 2: and Hunter Henry.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yes, he plays tight end, but he's a guy that
- 16:29Speaker 1: is aging like fine wine because he can still get
- 16:31Speaker 1: it done in his 11th year in the league.
- 16:32Speaker 2: But the biggest thing is A.J. Brown. Hunter Henry. That, dang, already.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I didn't think it either. I had to double check. Yes.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I was like, I know you ain't talking about Dobbs. Dang.
- 16:41Speaker 2: All right, Hunter Henry. I see you, baby. I see you. No,
- 16:43Speaker 2: he's been doing it for a minute. But A.J. Brown,
- 16:45Speaker 2: so he gets traded from the Eagles.
- 16:47Speaker 1: And despite everything we've heard, the distractions, he's reading a
- 16:50Speaker 1: book on the sideline, all this different stuff. If you
- 16:52Speaker 1: look at the numbers, what he's done in his career,
- 16:54Speaker 1: it's pretty remarkable. He has gone over a thousand yards
- 16:57Speaker 1: in every single season, except one going over 1400 yards twice.
- 17:01Speaker 1: His 8,000 career yards, 56 touchdowns in seven years. Brown
- 17:05Speaker 1: has the fourth most receiving yards in the fourth most
- 17:07Speaker 1: touchdowns since 2019. He can be an absolute problem. Even
- 17:11Speaker 1: last year, despite all that falling out, do you like
- 17:13Speaker 1: your quarterback?
- 17:13Speaker 2: Do you not? Are they close? Well, whatever, whatever.
- 17:15Speaker 1: 78 receptions, a thousand yards, seven touchdowns. He's obviously still
- 17:19Speaker 1: a dog. Him. I still think about that receiver in
- 17:21Speaker 1: middle miss him and DK Metcalf are just pretty crazy. But, um,
- 17:25Speaker 1: He can be a game changer, and he played for
- 17:27Speaker 1: Vable in his first three years in Tennessee, so I
- 17:30Speaker 1: don't think there's any worry about him being a distraction,
- 17:33Speaker 1: at least as of right now, so I'm excited to
- 17:34Speaker 1: see what he can do. Then you add Romeo Dobbs.
- 17:37Speaker 2: He got paid, Bob. He sure did.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I was surprised, not because I don't think he's a
- 17:40Speaker 1: good football player, but if you just look at what
- 17:41Speaker 1: he's done, his production didn't quite match that, but he
- 17:46Speaker 1: can still get it done. I mean, he's never gone
- 17:48Speaker 1: over 700 yards in a season, four NFL seasons, 202 receptions,
- 17:51Speaker 1: 2,424 yards, and 21 touchdowns. But he's been pretty consistent.
- 17:56Speaker 1: He's around 5, 6, 700 yards. He'll get a couple
- 17:59Speaker 1: touchdowns last year. 55 receptions on 85 targets, 724 yards,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and six touchdowns. So he can be a game changer
- 18:05Speaker 1: as well. But the fact that he has these weapons, yeah,
- 18:07Speaker 1: you had Stephon Diggs last year.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But let's be real.
- 18:10Speaker 1: The Stephon Diggs of 2017 wasn't playing last year. He
- 18:13Speaker 1: was in a much different spot in his career. These
- 18:15Speaker 1: guys can get it done. And lastly, Hunter Henry, 11th season.
- 18:19Speaker 2: 11th season, Hunter. I see you.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Third all-time in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, and fourth
- 18:23Speaker 1: in touchdowns in Patriots history.
- 18:25Speaker 2: And the Pats have had some good tight ends. Yes.
- 18:27Speaker 2: To say the least. Yeah. So that's Bestig.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Last year, 60 receptions, 768 yards, seven touchdowns, a career
- 18:34Speaker 1: high in yards.
- 18:35Speaker 2: We'll see if he can continue to do that.
- 18:36Speaker 1: But for me, this is where if the Patriots can
- 18:40Speaker 1: protect Drake May, these are the guys that can hurt you.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah, these are the uptops, the uptop guys. And Hunter
- 18:46Speaker 3: Henry can work underneath. He's good in the red zone.
- 18:48Speaker 3: They got a good squad over there, man.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Respect.
- 18:50Speaker 3: The Pats did what they were supposed to do to
- 18:52Speaker 3: support their quarterback.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Right. So let's see how we match up.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Let's talk about our pass catchers, the best receiver in
- 18:59Speaker 3: all of the land, Jackson Smith and Jigba, man. His
- 19:01Speaker 3: season was stupid. 1,793 yards. First in yards per touch.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Second in yards per game. Fourth in the NFL when
- 19:08Speaker 3: it comes to receptions. Tied for sixth in touchdowns. Ninth
- 19:11Speaker 3: in yards per reception. Tied the league with explosive plays.
- 19:14Speaker 2: 27 plays of 20-plus yards or more. It was every week.
- 19:18Speaker 2: It was every week. Every week.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I think the biggest one for me, at least the
- 19:20Speaker 3: one I remember the most, is the one against Jacksonville.
- 19:23Speaker 3: When he made the defender fall after the catch, kind
- 19:26Speaker 3: of backpedals into the end zone, made it look easy.
- 19:28Speaker 2: This man is ridiculous, man.
- 19:31Speaker 3: His 13 90-yard games are the most in a single
- 19:33Speaker 3: season in NFL history by a player 23 years old
- 19:36Speaker 3: or younger.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Obviously, Pro Bowl. Obviously, first-team All-Pro. This was probably the easiest.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Puka gave him a run for it, but we felt
- 19:45Speaker 3: like Jason was going to get the offensive player of
- 19:47Speaker 3: the year when it was all said and done.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Don't forget the OG.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Cooper cup man finished last season with 593 yards, 47
- 19:54Speaker 3: receptions and two touchdowns, but it's more than just what
- 19:57Speaker 3: he does on the field with this team.
- 19:58Speaker 2: He is a coach.
- 19:59Speaker 3: He's probably been in every meeting room in Virginia Mason
- 20:02Speaker 3: athletic center. Hard knock showed him in the quarterback's room,
- 20:04Speaker 3: the receiver room. You're talking to the coach. You're even
- 20:07Speaker 3: giving the coach ideas.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Right?
- 20:09Speaker 3: Having the Eureka moment. His value to this team goes
- 20:12Speaker 3: way beyond football. The actual playing on the field.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And if you've ever had a conversation with Cooper Cupp,
- 20:18Speaker 1: that'll come out right away. The dude is one of
- 20:20Speaker 1: the smartest people you'll ever meet, and he's just methodical.
- 20:23Speaker 1: How he chooses what he says, what he's doing on
- 20:25Speaker 1: the field. I remember we were talking in the.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Super Bowl, A.J.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Barner's touchdown, that something got flipped with the play call,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and they're in the wrong, and he realized as... Darnold's
- 20:35Speaker 1: in his cadence that him and Barner are going to
- 20:36Speaker 1: run into each other if he runs the route. So
- 20:38Speaker 1: on the fly, as the ball's getting snapped, he changes
- 20:40Speaker 1: his route. Barner gets in the end zone. Barner had
- 20:42Speaker 1: no idea.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Barner said, I'm just running my route. I heard what
- 20:45Speaker 2: was called.
- 20:46Speaker 1: No, so he's unbelievable, and I think he helps a lot, obviously,
- 20:50Speaker 1: as you said, having a coach on the field.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Then you have Rashid Shaheed. I'm excited for this dude because.
- 20:55Speaker 1: He comes to the Seahawks after trade, makes an immediate impact.
- 20:58Speaker 2: We know what he can do in the return game.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Best returner in the game, bar none. We know that.
- 21:01Speaker 2: But I'm really excited to see what we can get
- 21:03Speaker 2: from him as a receiver. We saw glimpses.
- 21:05Speaker 1: You saw that 50-yard completion in the NFC Championship game
- 21:08Speaker 1: against the Rams. But he just wasn't coming in that
- 21:11Speaker 1: late to the game. He wasn't a part of the
- 21:12Speaker 1: offense in that way. Now he has a full new offseason.
- 21:16Speaker 1: They were all learning the new terminology of Fleury's offense, right?
- 21:20Speaker 1: So everyone is on the same page, all through OTAs,
- 21:23Speaker 1: all through camps. I'm excited what Shahid can do having
- 21:25Speaker 1: that full offseason.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 21:28Speaker 1: And the good thing, too, they're going to have their
- 21:31Speaker 1: popcorn ready because Christian Gonzalez is out there.
- 21:33Speaker 2: He's a dog.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Carlton Davis, dog. Marcus Jones, dog. They can play back
- 21:38Speaker 1: there in the secondary. And Christian Gonzalez has a lot
- 21:40Speaker 1: to prove right now.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he does, man. He wants to be the highest
- 21:43Speaker 3: paid corner in the league. And I could see him
- 21:45Speaker 3: being the highest paid corner in the league. And that
- 21:47Speaker 3: title only lasts for about a year. You know how
- 21:49Speaker 3: this game goes. But it's about ego, man, and he
- 21:51Speaker 3: deserves it. He's one of the best in the game.
- 21:53Speaker 3: We saw the play that he made on, was that
- 21:54Speaker 3: Rashid Shaheed in the Super Bowl?
- 21:55Speaker 2: It might have been, yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Right, going deep down the middle of the field. I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 3: he's tall, got long arms. He deserves the money that
- 22:00Speaker 3: he's going to get paid in them. Marcus Jones is
- 22:03Speaker 3: one of the best returners in the game too, man.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah. That punt return game.
- 22:05Speaker 3: So we're going to have a chance to see two
- 22:08Speaker 3: of the best returners in the game go at it.
- 22:10Speaker 2: As you like to say, get your popcorn ready.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, no, and listen, Jay Harbaugh, the Seahawks had the
- 22:15Speaker 1: best special team unit in football last year. Any Vrabel
- 22:19Speaker 1: coach team is also similar to that in the details,
- 22:22Speaker 1: kind of off that Belichick tree and just being gamesmanship,
- 22:25Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. So I'm excited to see
- 22:27Speaker 1: what each of these teams can do as we get
- 22:30Speaker 1: set up for prime time. Banner coming down, Lumen Field,
- 22:34Speaker 1: Wednesday night, all eyes of the nation will be there.
- 22:37Speaker 2: We're going to tell you how the Seahawks are going
- 22:38Speaker 2: to get that done and path to victory. at the 45,
- 22:42Speaker 2: waits for the snap. Michael Dixon puts it down. That
- 22:45Speaker 2: kick is away, and that kick is good!
- 22:49Speaker 1: The Seahawks win!
- 22:50Speaker 2: It's good!
- 22:51Speaker 3: It's a path to victory on Hawk Talk.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Season opener doesn't get any bigger than this. All eyes
- 22:57Speaker 1: of the world are going to be on Lumen Field
- 22:59Speaker 1: on Wednesday night. Seahawks taking on the Patriots. They're going
- 23:02Speaker 1: to drop the banner. It's going to be a crazy
- 23:04Speaker 1: environment at Lumen Field. Everything that's happened, new ownership, all
- 23:08Speaker 1: the good stuff happening right now, and it's a chance
- 23:11Speaker 1: again To show what we saw on Hard Knocks is
- 23:13Speaker 1: a chance for Mike McDonald and this team to show
- 23:15Speaker 1: what the Seahawks culture is about, to show that, listen,
- 23:17Speaker 1: people aren't talking about us, but we're going to remind
- 23:19Speaker 1: you guys that we're a problem. We play a certain
- 23:22Speaker 1: type of way, and it's physical, and it's going to–
- 23:25Speaker 1: you better– when you play the Seahawks, you better strap
- 23:27Speaker 1: it up.
- 23:28Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
- 23:28Speaker 3: You should have been on Hard Knocks. You've got to
- 23:30Speaker 3: be kind of fired up right now, though. You know
- 23:31Speaker 3: what I'm saying? I was behind the scenes. You know
- 23:33Speaker 3: what I'm saying?
- 23:34Speaker 2: I could be like, oh, I was behind that shot.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I was behind that shot. You know how it goes.
- 23:37Speaker 2: But they have to start fast.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Remember last year the offense didn't come out and do great.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Obviously they got going, but it was a loss to
- 23:43Speaker 3: the 49ers. Couldn't run the football. Sam didn't throw a touchdown.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Didn't throw an interception either, but let's start fast. And
- 23:49Speaker 3: I liked what I saw from the preseason. Obviously you
- 23:51Speaker 3: only see a little bit of what Fleury wants to do,
- 23:53Speaker 3: but you get an idea of what he's going to do.
- 23:56Speaker 3: And now with Darnold, man, you're a Super Bowl champ.
- 23:59Speaker 3: You got something that Josh Allen don't have, that Lamar
- 24:01Speaker 3: Jackson don't have, that who else wants to have a
- 24:04Speaker 3: big ball? Joe Burrow don't have it. So be yourself,
- 24:07Speaker 3: take care of the football, and just know who the
- 24:09Speaker 3: heck you are. Yeah, I'm so excited to see him
- 24:11Speaker 3: hit the ground running. There's no question anymore about, oh,
- 24:16Speaker 3: is Sam this?
- 24:17Speaker 2: No, there's not. He's proven it.
- 24:18Speaker 1: That's exactly who he is. He's the same even-keeled dude
- 24:21Speaker 1: every day you see him in this building. If I
- 24:22Speaker 1: was him, I would act so differently. I would act
- 24:26Speaker 1: so differently. My guy is the most, like, humble dude
- 24:29Speaker 1: you'll ever meet. I would be letting people know. I'd
- 24:31Speaker 1: be talking with my chest in every room that I entered.
- 24:33Speaker 1: But that's not him. He's going to do his thing.
- 24:35Speaker 1: So I'm excited to see that. Then offensively, I think
- 24:38Speaker 1: I really just want to see JSN pick up where
- 24:40Speaker 1: he left off.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I want to see how teams are going to defend him.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And OK, if you really get to commit a lot
- 24:44Speaker 1: to him, then guys like Cooper, Rashid Shaheed need to
- 24:46Speaker 1: get after these Patriots DBs and defensively bump the recipe
- 24:50Speaker 1: to this game. Get after Drake May. You showed it
- 24:52Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl. I'm really excited to see what
- 24:54Speaker 1: kind of blitzes, what kind of different games that McDonald
- 24:57Speaker 1: and the defense are going to play against them. But
- 24:59Speaker 1: you get after Drake May. If he feels like that,
- 25:01Speaker 1: he's getting hit a bunch. There's going to be turnovers,
- 25:02Speaker 1: and it's going to be good for the Seahawks.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 25:05Speaker 3: And what's Mike McDonald going to do? What tricks do
- 25:08Speaker 3: you have up your sleeve? I remember we were talking
- 25:10Speaker 3: to Julian Love months ago, and he said during the
- 25:15Speaker 3: Christmas party, Mike McDonald was saying how he couldn't wait
- 25:19Speaker 3: for the offseason because he's got some more stuff he
- 25:21Speaker 3: wants to add to his defense. In the middle of
- 25:23Speaker 3: the season, he's already thinking about stuff that he wants
- 25:25Speaker 3: to add for the next season.
- 25:27Speaker 1: That's just how this guy gets down. No, I mean,
- 25:30Speaker 1: he's cerebral in that sense. And I'm excited because this
- 25:34Speaker 1: is going to be one of those. The last time
- 25:35Speaker 1: we're in the building for real is the NFC Championship game.
- 25:38Speaker 1: So I think the vibes are going to be similar
- 25:40Speaker 1: to that. People banging on the glass.
- 25:41Speaker 2: It's going to be fun.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Seahawks taking on the New England Patriots. Super Bowl rematch
- 25:46Speaker 1: Wednesday night on NBC. You can hear it on the
- 25:49Speaker 1: Seahawks radio network, Seattle Sports. Pre-game starts with Michael Bumpus
- 25:53Speaker 1: at 2 p.m. We're going to have you locked and loaded,
- 25:56Speaker 1: ready to go for game day.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I'm excited.
