- 1:01Speaker 4: how we keep this thing going. Before we get into everything,
- 1:05Speaker 4: because we got a launcher list of some house some
- 1:08Speaker 4: house cleaning, housekeeping, whatever we want to call it. But
- 1:10Speaker 4: this episode is presented by the one, the only, the
- 1:14Speaker 4: Chevy Silverado. And if you see me looking up right now,
- 1:16Speaker 4: we've done a little we've done some upgrading in here.
- 1:18Speaker 4: We got the uh, we got the monitor raised at
- 1:21Speaker 4: a higher level. Now it's on a nice little swivel
- 1:23Speaker 4: so we don't have to battle with that. What else
- 1:24Speaker 4: happened my my little microphone arm The boys got this
- 1:28Speaker 4: thing lower so that way it's not in our face.
- 1:31Speaker 4: But we're we're doing some big things. But it's all
- 1:33Speaker 4: because of the Chevy Silverado. Silverado Summer. Think of all
- 1:36Speaker 4: the possibilities with the Chevy Silverado for moff road adventures,
- 1:39Speaker 4: to do yourself projects and hardcore work. The Silverado has
- 1:42Speaker 4: the capability and technology to make this summer your best
- 1:45Speaker 4: one yet. With nine different Silverado models to choose from
- 1:49Speaker 4: and engines that range from the Turbomax to the six
- 1:52Speaker 4: point two V eight in that Duramax diesel, you can
- 1:55Speaker 4: count on the Chevy power and performance to get anything
- 1:58Speaker 4: done anywhere, anytime, anyplace, against any.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Against any competition.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Like many of you, we've been hitting the road a
- 2:05Speaker 4: lot lately and it seems like everywhere we go there's
- 2:07Speaker 4: an army Silverado's and Silverado owners. So shout out to
- 2:10Speaker 4: you all game recognize this game, which brings us before
- 2:13Speaker 4: we get in head to Chevy dot com to check
- 2:15Speaker 4: out the Chevy Silverado and all the Chevy trucks, the
- 2:18Speaker 4: official truck of Busting with the Boys, speaking of being
- 2:22Speaker 4: on the road in our Chevy and seeing chevyes nationwide.
- 2:25Speaker 4: We are going to be our fall tailgate tours coming up.
- 2:28Speaker 4: We're actually going to once we dial in these last
- 2:32Speaker 4: couple stops that we're trying to figure out, which we
- 2:34Speaker 4: could use your guys's help on. If you're watching right now,
- 2:37Speaker 4: leave a comment comments section harass us on Twitter and
- 2:40Speaker 4: social media, we're gonna be posting where we should go
- 2:42Speaker 4: for our final stops, for our final couple stops.
- 2:45Speaker 1: We're gonna do six stops this year.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Obviously one's gonna be the Bust and Bolt, so you
- 2:49Speaker 4: know nothing but Chevy Silverado owners out in the Great
- 2:52Speaker 4: City of Nebraska. But let us know where we need
- 2:56Speaker 4: to go because we'll be hitting the road. It's gonna
- 2:58Speaker 4: be a good guys. It's gonna be a fucking fun season.
- 3:01Speaker 4: It feels, honestly, the vibe at Busting with the Boys
- 3:05Speaker 4: HQ probably the last week or so now, like leading
- 3:08Speaker 4: up into it, you can feel kind of the urgency
- 3:10Speaker 4: that's coming, the excitement with football season, but also the
- 3:13Speaker 4: stress that I know you guys are feeling way more
- 3:17Speaker 4: than myself, Like I'm like, fuck, we gotta do all
- 3:19Speaker 4: these different things. We're gonna be doing, busting with the boys.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Bet the Bus is coming back. Bet the Bus will
- 3:25Speaker 4: be out this I think we're gonna roll with this Friday.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Based on some things that we have to do this week.
- 3:29Speaker 4: We're gonna record on Thursday that'll come out Friday. Bet
- 3:31Speaker 4: the Bus is coming back. We got another show in
- 3:34Speaker 4: the works that's gonna be getting announced soon. Then also
- 3:37Speaker 4: doing the Pro Football Football show out at Barstol Chicago.
- 3:40Speaker 4: We'll beting Barstol Chicago on Fridays, and then our fall
- 3:44Speaker 4: tailgate tours on the weekend, six different weekends this year.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And I know, from my perspective, it's like, man, we
- 3:49Speaker 4: got a lot of shit coming up, especially September. We're
- 3:51Speaker 4: traveling every weekend at September. But I know for you guys,
- 3:54Speaker 4: it's like there's a lot of shit going on. There's
- 3:58Speaker 4: a lot of shit happened. There's a lot of shit happening.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Some big meetings, one big meeting tomorrow that you hopefully
- 4:07Speaker 4: will help alleviate some stress from the boys.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But it feels like we're more like as excited as
- 4:12Speaker 1: everybody is.
- 4:12Speaker 4: We're also trying to get our head above water a
- 4:14Speaker 4: little bit before the season's even gotten started.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Do you guys have anything you would have been on earth?
- 4:20Speaker 5: I mean, how much time do you have?
- 4:22Speaker 6: You know?
- 4:23Speaker 7: Now?
- 4:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you hit it pretty spot on. We
- 4:26Speaker 5: got a big fall ahead. I think once we get
- 4:29Speaker 5: into like the first weekend, maybe second weekend, I'm hopeful
- 4:33Speaker 5: that most of this stress will kind of fall away.
- 4:36Speaker 5: But you don't really know until you're in the thick
- 4:40Speaker 5: of it.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like, right, it's the positive is externally, it's
- 4:46Speaker 4: a great problem to have, right, a lot of decisions,
- 4:49Speaker 4: it's a lot of workflow stuff that it's like, Okay,
- 4:52Speaker 4: we really need to dial in some workflow, some streamlining,
- 4:54Speaker 4: some things, because there's just a lot on the docket
- 4:57Speaker 4: that could get easily lost in the cracks if everybody's
- 5:00Speaker 4: out on top of their shit and then everybody's trying
- 5:02Speaker 4: to pass the bag on whose faults were, and there's
- 5:04Speaker 4: a lot of there's a lot of cooks in the
- 5:06Speaker 4: kitchen at times. But as as good as those problems
- 5:11Speaker 4: can be externally, if the internal isn't handled with all
- 5:14Speaker 4: of that, it can create some internal conflict at times.
- 5:18Speaker 4: And I'm not saying like, you know, bad conflict, just
- 5:21Speaker 4: you want everybody in a good, high vibe mood when
- 5:24Speaker 4: you when we're around each other on these tours, because
- 5:27Speaker 4: we're going to be around each other a lot, and
- 5:28Speaker 4: just like you know, delivering everywhere we go, everything we do.
- 5:33Speaker 4: But I digress. I don't know what that came from.
- 5:35Speaker 4: We were talking about, oh with the Fall Tailgate Tour.
- 5:37Speaker 4: The Fall tail Gate Tour, I mean last year we
- 5:39Speaker 4: had a really good tour.
- 5:40Speaker 1: We hit.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, Notre Dame, where else because we
- 5:48Speaker 4: hit another.
- 5:49Speaker 5: One Austin, but that was spring.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Oh we in Nebraska. Yeah, early in the year we
- 5:55Speaker 4: hit in Nebraska, Georgia.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Southern No, northwestern.
- 6:01Speaker 4: North Dakota was it North Dakota State? Oh that's right,
- 6:04Speaker 4: that's right. Nail bider. Tweeze went out. Tweeze went out
- 6:07Speaker 4: on in the President's suite. By the way, Ted Carter left,
- 6:11Speaker 4: he's now going to Ohio State. He was the president
- 6:15Speaker 4: that Nebraska bought in decorated background and military background like
- 6:19Speaker 4: a a motherfucker you that the vibe was high at Nebraska.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I mean he was part of bringing in Matt Rule
- 6:27Speaker 4: coach spot. You know, I don't know right now, Like
- 6:31Speaker 4: that was something over the weekend that I was seeing.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I'm trying to Yeah, that's new news. Ted Carter left
- 6:36Speaker 4: and he's going to Ohio State. I don't know if
- 6:37Speaker 4: it's to be president, oh I'll state landed a good
- 6:41Speaker 4: one from everything I've heard about. Uh, Ted Carter like
- 6:45Speaker 4: he's he's that dude. So that's that's actually a low
- 6:49Speaker 4: key big loss for Nebraska. That's a big loss going
- 6:51Speaker 4: into the year with Nebraska. It seemed like he was
- 6:53Speaker 4: out of nowhere because we extended him past twenty twenty seven.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think.
- 6:58Speaker 6: You're right here drinking the rule aid though.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel great about where Nebraska's at. Not great
- 7:03Speaker 4: in a way that like I'm calling that we're gonna
- 7:05Speaker 4: fucking take the big tim By air lane and see,
- 7:08Speaker 4: I will praise.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I will shout from the mountain top all year long
- 7:11Speaker 1: with that.
- 7:11Speaker 4: You guys know, I'm not going to waiver when it
- 7:14Speaker 4: comes to my pride and fandom of the boys in
- 7:17Speaker 4: the red and scarlet?
- 7:19Speaker 1: What is that scarlet?
- 7:21Speaker 5: The red scarlet is red scarlet.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Scarlet, the scarlet, red and white.
- 7:30Speaker 5: I thought we were red and.
- 7:32Speaker 1: White bleep that we gotta edit that part out either way.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Either way, I am, I'm horny for some Husker football.
- 7:40Speaker 4: The the Cobs are husted for this for this Thursday
- 7:42Speaker 4: against Minnesota.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Should we go through and uh we do a little
- 7:48Speaker 5: prediction for Nebraska schedule and see where we fall.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Absolutely, I think the time is right. Yeah, not now,
- 7:55Speaker 4: when you know what I mean. The over under on
- 7:58Speaker 4: Nebraska on the sports the sport books is what six
- 8:01Speaker 4: and a half?
- 8:02Speaker 1: The over under six and a half?
- 8:03Speaker 6: I think I think it's six and a half. But
- 8:05Speaker 6: six is a bowl game.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Six is a bowl game. But you guys, half, we're
- 8:08Speaker 1: talking at least seven games.
- 8:10Speaker 8: You guys are the the like one of two only
- 8:14Speaker 8: Power five teams that have not made a bowl game
- 8:17Speaker 8: in the past like ten years, fifteen years.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I think that changes this year.
- 8:21Speaker 4: As a matter of fact, I think I'll go as
- 8:23Speaker 4: far as like I think I'm gonna put it a
- 8:25Speaker 4: grand on the over, thousand dollars on the.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Over, and you'll got Thursday Night Lights this.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Week, Thursday Night Lights, Thursday Night Lights from week zero
- 8:36Speaker 4: to Thursday unbeaten in week zero, however, we get to
- 8:39Speaker 4: essentially kick off the the college football landscape for real,
- 8:42Speaker 4: like some of them, you know, preseason games happened over
- 8:44Speaker 4: the weekend. But all right, we got the Nebraska schedule
- 8:47Speaker 4: pulled up for US Nebraska versus Minnesota. Okay, over, you're
- 8:52Speaker 4: we're going over six and a half Nebraska Minnesota. I
- 8:57Speaker 4: think we start off with a win. And I'm only smiling.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I'm only smiling because I know it's like I here
- 9:02Speaker 4: he goes will again. But I think we start off
- 9:04Speaker 4: the season strong. I've been watching that little documentary series,
- 9:06Speaker 4: that little docu series that Nebraska has been putting out,
- 9:09Speaker 4: and it does. It fires me up. I know we
- 9:11Speaker 4: got cats that aren't afraid to work, and that's what
- 9:13Speaker 4: you need. And you got coach Rule preaching the good message.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Like I think you wanna, you wanna start rewriting the
- 9:21Speaker 4: chapters of Nebraska, and I think it starts this Thursday
- 9:23Speaker 4: against Minnesota.
- 9:24Speaker 8: So a win against Minnesota, you are a seven, seven
- 9:27Speaker 8: and a half point underdog.
- 9:28Speaker 4: That's so yeah, that's okay. We're always the underdog, like
- 9:31Speaker 4: until we win games, we need to be the underdog.
- 9:34Speaker 4: By the way, if you wanna the spread at seven
- 9:36Speaker 4: and a half, take plus seven and a half spoiler
- 9:38Speaker 4: alert for about the bus take those points. Nebraska Colorado.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I think Nebraska beats Colorado at Colorado. I think the
- 9:48Speaker 4: stadium is gonna be filled with red. I think Colorado's
- 9:51Speaker 4: over under on the ears, like what three and a
- 9:53Speaker 4: half games, not a lot of promise. I believe in Dion.
- 9:57Speaker 4: I believe in coach Sanders. I think he's gonna get
- 9:59Speaker 4: that program heading in the right direction. There's been a
- 10:00Speaker 4: lot of change just in his first year with the
- 10:03Speaker 4: roster and everything else. I just don't think they'll quite
- 10:06Speaker 4: be ready yet, and they're definitely not gonna be ready
- 10:08Speaker 4: for the big red machine coming into Colorado.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Week three against Northern Illinois.
- 10:12Speaker 4: That's a win. That's our first home game, the excitement
- 10:15Speaker 4: night game. That's the first that's the first home game
- 10:18Speaker 4: after starting off two and oh with the rule as
- 10:20Speaker 4: field to the tip top. That's a win against Northern Illinois.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Then you got Louisiana Tech, and that's gonna be one
- 10:26Speaker 4: of those games where you're three and oh and you're
- 10:27Speaker 4: sitting there in the meetings the night before a game
- 10:29Speaker 4: and telling these boys respect the fucking game, don't sleep
- 10:33Speaker 4: on these teams. We're not good enough. We're not gonna
- 10:36Speaker 4: be good enough this year to show up and win.
- 10:38Speaker 4: You gotta respect the game because if not, they'll be
- 10:40Speaker 4: celebrating on your fucking field.
- 10:42Speaker 1: We'll be four and oh going into the bust And Bowl.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Here's why I'll go ahead and say we will drop
- 10:46Speaker 4: a game because I can't be naiven think we're gonna
- 10:49Speaker 4: go undefeated this year. A part of me does think
- 10:51Speaker 4: we got a shot. However, I'm gonna say we drop
- 10:54Speaker 4: a game to Michigan. I do think it'll be a
- 10:56Speaker 4: tough fuck game. I think it's a game where fans
- 10:57Speaker 4: are gonna be proud of the team that is forming
- 11:00Speaker 4: in that stadium, a memorial stadium, to where it's like, hey,
- 11:03Speaker 4: we might have lost this game and we might not
- 11:05Speaker 4: win them all this year, but we're fucking trending in
- 11:07Speaker 4: the right direction. That's what I believe with the state
- 11:10Speaker 4: of Nebraska this year. So we're gonna be four and
- 11:12Speaker 4: oh after Michigan.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Will that be the first game that Hardball comes back
- 11:16Speaker 5: from suspension or.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Now he actually gets to come back in week four?
- 11:19Speaker 4: Now, I think it went from a four game suspension
- 11:21Speaker 4: to now three game Yeah, and listen, Michigan's gonna be
- 11:26Speaker 4: a good football team. That's gonna be one of the
- 11:27Speaker 4: horses we need going into maybe the college football Playoff
- 11:30Speaker 4: for the Big Ten, it's gonna be them. I think
- 11:32Speaker 4: Penn State's gonna be really fucking tough this year. I
- 11:34Speaker 4: think Ohio State's gonna be really good this year. Big
- 11:37Speaker 4: Ten is gonna have some tough football. Now moving on
- 11:40Speaker 4: to Nebraska, Illinois at Illinois got some boys. I'm gonna say,
- 11:48Speaker 4: we lose two in a row, you guys want some
- 11:51Speaker 4: fucking realism out of the boy this year. You guys
- 11:53Speaker 4: want some hey reel it in there you go. I
- 11:56Speaker 4: think Illinois is a sleeper team, like a dark horse there.
- 12:01Speaker 4: They build their team off run game and defense, so
- 12:03Speaker 4: you build the trenches. They got Bilma. I like Bilma.
- 12:06Speaker 4: I think he knows how to build programs and I
- 12:08Speaker 4: think he's he's trending in the.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Right direction with Illinois. I think Illinois.
- 12:12Speaker 4: We might drop a second game at Illinois and it's
- 12:15Speaker 4: gonna suck. It's gonna hurt, like it is going to hurt,
- 12:18Speaker 4: especially when you start off four to zero and lose
- 12:21Speaker 4: a tight game to Michigan at home. You still got
- 12:24Speaker 4: like we might be ranked at that point going into Illinois,
- 12:27Speaker 4: and we could fucking lose again to Illinois to where
- 12:29Speaker 4: it's like, Okay, reset expectations, Northwestern, put your perche mass
- 12:34Speaker 4: on and dry hump those boys.
- 12:35Speaker 1: We're taking that one for all they got.
- 12:37Speaker 4: You go into Purdue at Nebraska, We're gonna be Purdue.
- 12:43Speaker 4: So right there, what are we? Six and two? Six
- 12:46Speaker 4: and two at Michigan State. Michigan State could be a
- 12:49Speaker 4: tough team by then, who knows I'm going to say.
- 13:01Speaker 4: I'm gonna say we beat Michigan State. That's what I'm
- 13:04Speaker 4: kind of going back and forth because I look at
- 13:05Speaker 4: the rest of the schedule. Well, people got to understand
- 13:07Speaker 4: when we're talking about drinking the rule aid and look
- 13:09Speaker 4: at this promising. We got a promising, We got a
- 13:12Speaker 4: schedule we can win. We gotta winnable schedule. We gotta
- 13:14Speaker 4: win the first two All that matters this week first
- 13:18Speaker 4: two games. Obviously, you can't see past what you got
- 13:20Speaker 4: in front of you, what you got in front of
- 13:22Speaker 4: your faces. But those first two weeks matter the fucking
- 13:25Speaker 4: most because we start off four and oh, like we're
- 13:27Speaker 4: gonna beat Michigan State, Maryland at Nebraska, Maryland sucks. Nebraska's
- 13:32Speaker 4: gonna win that one. Nebraska Wisconsin. I'll go ahead, I'll
- 13:36Speaker 4: go ahead, lay this sword down on that one. Wisconsin
- 13:39Speaker 4: is a tough team. They've always haunted my nightmares. There's
- 13:41Speaker 4: no leg for me to stand on when talking ill
- 13:43Speaker 4: of Wisconsin. Uh, nothing but respect for that program and
- 13:47Speaker 4: the billion yards they've rushed on us in the years past.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that was.
- 13:53Speaker 9: That's always tough, tough, tough to relive.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Iowa Nebraska, the battle for the border. I think we
- 13:59Speaker 4: finally get up on Iowa. And when I say finally
- 14:02Speaker 4: get up, we beat their ass.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Last year. We beat them.
- 14:04Speaker 4: We were a whip dog going into the end of
- 14:07Speaker 4: the year, nothing to play for, and we still turn
- 14:08Speaker 4: around and whooped this team. And we're going to control
- 14:11Speaker 4: the border again for two games in a row, two
- 14:13Speaker 4: years in a row. George Kittle and the boys are
- 14:14Speaker 4: gonna have to bend the knee to Willie c and
- 14:17Speaker 4: the Huskers that we just went what.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Eight and three? That's not out of the question?
- 14:26Speaker 4: Is that out of the question? And where where do
- 14:28Speaker 4: you guys think I could be wrong on that schedule?
- 14:32Speaker 6: I mean, it depends where Michigan State is.
- 14:36Speaker 8: But also the fact that you guys are seven and
- 14:39Speaker 8: a half point underdogs Thursday did worry something.
- 14:44Speaker 6: But Jeff Simms, your quarterback is a dog.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I've heard good things about him.
- 14:50Speaker 8: He is an athlete, he's a bit. He's transferred from
- 14:53Speaker 8: Georgia Tech. He's an athlete, he's a cat. You want
- 14:56Speaker 8: to get off the bus first, for sure.
- 14:59Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 15:00Speaker 4: You know, if I think I'm wrong anywhere, you look
- 15:02Speaker 4: at you look at this week against Minnesota and you
- 15:05Speaker 4: look at Michigan State. Those are gonna be dogfights, right like.
- 15:08Speaker 4: But that's that's the beauty of the game. And that's
- 15:11Speaker 4: why I'm still gonna swing the sword for the boys
- 15:13Speaker 4: in red and white.
- 15:15Speaker 9: When I said red and scarlet, yeah, oh shit, yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 9: Colorado's gonna get Colorado's gonna.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Get drug a couple weeks in a row. Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 4: He Garrett was just saying, uh, Colorado starts off with TCU,
- 15:39Speaker 4: and TCU is a jug or not.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But I do.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I think the battle on the Big ten this year
- 15:46Speaker 4: is gonna come down in the Michigan, Ohio State and
- 15:48Speaker 4: Penn State.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Penn State's got a good squad and.
- 15:51Speaker 4: You cannot sleep on them athletes. They got at Ohio State.
- 15:56Speaker 4: I mean Marvin Harrison junior. Everything has come out of
- 15:59Speaker 4: him is like he's like the best wide receiver since
- 16:01Speaker 4: what Calvin Johnson.
- 16:02Speaker 6: The biggest question is gonna be in the O High
- 16:03Speaker 6: States quarterback.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Throw it fucking deep.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Just throw it up to Marvin.
- 16:08Speaker 8: I mean, you got you got Marvin, you got a
- 16:10Speaker 8: Mecha Buca, Julian Fleming, and probably some other freshman that's
- 16:16Speaker 8: a dog.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 4: It's one of those things too, Like I don't know
- 16:19Speaker 4: how the others are, but Marvin Harrison being as fast
- 16:21Speaker 4: as he is, it's kind of like that Deshaun Jackson's
- 16:23Speaker 4: like when we be on washing and throw it in
- 16:26Speaker 4: practicing and they're throwing deep to DeShawn, It's like you
- 16:28Speaker 4: almost underthrow them. It's like you can't throw it far enough,
- 16:30Speaker 4: Like they're gonna go get the motherfucker.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Just bombs over bag dad, dude, throw it up and pray.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Yeah, uh but that'll be it'll it'll be a fun year.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I'm stoked at football is back. Like you can just
- 16:44Speaker 4: feel the excitement college football, Like it's like pro football,
- 16:49Speaker 4: the NFL, Fantasy football.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Everybody's like getting dialed.
- 16:51Speaker 4: In for you know, their picks and it feels more transactional.
- 16:57Speaker 1: In the NFL, everybody's excited, everybody loves the NFL.
- 17:01Speaker 4: But in college you just feel the purity of the
- 17:04Speaker 4: game a lot more like just that spirit that everybody
- 17:07Speaker 4: has fighting for their squads.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It's Tennessee gonna be a player again this year.
- 17:11Speaker 5: I fucking hope.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So, man, do you think so?
- 17:14Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, absolutely. I mean we hypel is the best
- 17:17Speaker 5: coach we've had in a decades, So I'm I'm really
- 17:20Speaker 5: excited to see the squad. We got Virginia in Nashville
- 17:24Speaker 5: this week home opener. Shout out Chris Long, He's my
- 17:28Speaker 5: enemy for sixty minutes on Saturday. But I think, uh,
- 17:32Speaker 5: I think we're gonna come out and beat the.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Ship out of them. So they're gonna be here.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Yeah, in Nashville at Nissan Stage.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'm saying green light pod.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Chris, Oh yeah yeah. Doctor Fax hit me up. It's
- 17:43Speaker 5: like we need to all link up, and I was
- 17:44Speaker 5: like you, I'm putting it on the left.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Uh.
- 17:48Speaker 4: I think Tennessee it's gotta be It's gotta be fun
- 17:50Speaker 4: to be a Tennessee vall right now, just because it's
- 17:53Speaker 4: you just got the feeling of being back, you know
- 17:55Speaker 4: what I.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Mean a few years where it was in a way
- 17:59Speaker 5: almost embarrassing to be a Tennessee fan.
- 18:01Speaker 1: It just wasn't fun.
- 18:02Speaker 5: It was it was a job more than than a vacation.
- 18:06Speaker 5: And we're starting to feel good about it. I think
- 18:09Speaker 5: the East is still going to be pretty tough. Georgie
- 18:11Speaker 5: is always going to be good. But if we can
- 18:14Speaker 5: sneak one past Georgia, I think we have a really
- 18:18Speaker 5: positive season in our future.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 18:21Speaker 5: But did you say who you got winning the Big Ten?
- 18:27Speaker 1: I hate to comment on that because I went to Nebraska.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Let's let's take Nebraska out of it. Anyone else, you.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Know, I think it'll be uh, I think it'll be Ohio, Stander,
- 18:41Speaker 4: Penn State.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And I know that's a shot.
- 18:44Speaker 4: It's like, you hate to say that because you know,
- 18:47Speaker 4: the boys gonna feel like that's just a shot at Michigan.
- 18:49Speaker 1: It's not a shot at Michigan.
- 18:51Speaker 4: I just think that they've tasted, they've tasted the last
- 18:54Speaker 4: couple of years, and they just they're just not that
- 18:57Speaker 4: ball club as far as that e Arcelotta level. That's
- 19:03Speaker 4: a wild again, that's wild to say. I need a
- 19:05Speaker 4: temper that back like they're a great football team.
- 19:07Speaker 1: They're just not. I don't.
- 19:09Speaker 4: I think Ohio State and Penn State are going to
- 19:11Speaker 4: be the teams to beat in the Big Ten this year.
- 19:12Speaker 8: When we were there to that Michigan golf trip, they
- 19:16Speaker 8: they seemed like they had some ship to them, Like
- 19:19Speaker 8: they should.
- 19:19Speaker 4: They They've been to the Collgetball Playoff the last two years.
- 19:22Speaker 4: They should have a lot of excitement. But what I'm
- 19:25Speaker 4: saying is like they are, they're feeling that, they're feeling
- 19:29Speaker 4: that we're we're superior to Ohio State. And I think
- 19:32Speaker 4: they've gotten a couple of games on them, and here's
- 19:34Speaker 4: where I think it gets. It gets leveled out. And also,
- 19:37Speaker 4: I think people aren't talking about Penn State. I think
- 19:38Speaker 4: people are talking about Penn State, but not in such
- 19:40Speaker 4: a way that they're willing to say that Michigan and
- 19:44Speaker 4: Ohio State are below them, I guess, and I think
- 19:46Speaker 4: Michigan Penn State will be good.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I think Michigan's in that situation of anything that goes
- 19:52Speaker 3: wrong is going to weigh more because of the two
- 19:54Speaker 3: previous years. Because it's almost now, they're at the point
- 19:57Speaker 3: where it is expected. So if you do have a
- 20:00Speaker 3: shitty game against you know, Nebraska, Nebraska or I don't
- 20:05Speaker 3: know what their schedule looks like, but they're every play
- 20:08Speaker 3: is gonna feel more intense. Yeah, just they're in that
- 20:12Speaker 3: situation now that sucks for them, but I think they're
- 20:16Speaker 3: good enough. But it will come down to just composure
- 20:18Speaker 3: and whatever.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Also, well said, have you heard of what he's just
- 20:23Speaker 3: been like? I just don't know if they're that clumb
- 20:25Speaker 3: Have you heard what Harball's doing the first four games
- 20:29Speaker 3: for coaches? Who's gonna be the interim I don't quote
- 20:34Speaker 3: me on this, but I think I heard that for
- 20:37Speaker 3: the first game, whoever it is is going to coach
- 20:40Speaker 3: the first half, and then someone else is going to
- 20:42Speaker 3: coach the second half, and then for the second game,
- 20:44Speaker 3: it's gonna be the same thing, but two different people.
- 20:47Speaker 2: That sounds chaotic.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It does sound chaotic, but.
- 20:50Speaker 4: It could be a play too to get some of
- 20:52Speaker 4: these coaches who might be in situations for a better job.
- 20:56Speaker 4: He's given them exposure, right whether or not however the
- 21:00Speaker 4: operation flows, because maybe the operation will be the same,
- 21:03Speaker 4: but it just a different face in that title, so
- 21:06Speaker 4: that way they can use it or getting a better job.
- 21:09Speaker 4: That's just me trying to play like, yeah, why would
- 21:11Speaker 4: they do that? That could be like the positive spin on, Hey,
- 21:15Speaker 4: let's get some of these guys more exposure, because anytime
- 21:19Speaker 4: my head coach is like stepping down, they want that
- 21:20Speaker 4: guy who should be a head coach next or somewhere
- 21:22Speaker 4: else they try and throw so like you know, it's
- 21:24Speaker 4: like when Raves goes down in the assistant head coaches
- 21:27Speaker 4: like Aukerman and all you know runs the show or
- 21:31Speaker 4: is the face that stands there. That would be my guess.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Outside of that's an awful that's a wild thing to do.
- 21:39Speaker 4: But I don't think they'll like the game plan won't change.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Game plan wise, it won't change. I think the same
- 21:44Speaker 4: people are still going to be calling the plays. It's
- 21:46Speaker 4: just given the exposure to those guys who could be
- 21:49Speaker 4: put themselves in a spot to elevate the next offseason,
- 21:52Speaker 4: which is honestly, that is cool.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Do you have any predictions for the SEC?
- 21:56Speaker 1: Prediction for the SEC can you bring up so M
- 22:06Speaker 1: Vanderbilt at the top one and o s at one
- 22:08Speaker 1: and oh, you know, out of the East. Out of
- 22:17Speaker 1: the East, it's gonna be out of Georgia and Tennessee.
- 22:20Speaker 4: There's two on each side. Yeah, the the SEC East
- 22:24Speaker 4: is gonna be Georgia and Tennessee. And I think I
- 22:30Speaker 4: don't want to give him this, but I think South
- 22:31Speaker 4: Carolina could be on the outside looking in in a
- 22:33Speaker 4: couple of situations throughout the season, like this is a
- 22:36Speaker 4: pivotal game for the season. I think South Carolina can
- 22:38Speaker 4: be in those spots.
- 22:42Speaker 5: They got a big home opener this weekend versus North Carolina.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Not saying that North Carolina is going to be some
- 22:46Speaker 5: like tough juggernaut, but that's a huge rivalry.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Just yeah, I was gonna say, yeah, and they're a
- 22:54Speaker 4: high powered offense. It's gonna make a rain with the
- 22:56Speaker 4: Heisman candidate.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Yeah, and what's the same juice juice?
- 23:01Speaker 4: Well, he's nasty, he is nasty. He's cool too, rattlers
- 23:06Speaker 4: last year. You just hope that I don't know, you
- 23:09Speaker 4: do get a good vibe from that staff and when
- 23:10Speaker 4: we were out there at South Carolina. Uh so, I'm
- 23:13Speaker 4: kind of kind of got that bias or rooting for him.
- 23:15Speaker 4: But the SEC West, I think it is. I mean,
- 23:19Speaker 4: it's it's clearly out of l s.
- 23:20Speaker 1: U and Bama.
- 23:22Speaker 4: I don't think anybody really has an outside chance of
- 23:25Speaker 4: competing with those two.
- 23:28Speaker 1: At all.
- 23:30Speaker 4: And I don't know the schedules of Bama and l
- 23:31Speaker 4: s U right now, but do they play the big
- 23:33Speaker 4: dogs of.
- 23:33Speaker 1: The East during the season.
- 23:37Speaker 4: That would be the only way that they get in
- 23:39Speaker 4: any type of dilemmas if they lose those tough games.
- 23:43Speaker 4: But it's not gonna be because of who's in, who's
- 23:45Speaker 4: on who's in their division. I think, yeah, l s
- 23:52Speaker 4: you will be tough, and I do. I think who
- 23:55Speaker 4: comes out of it is gonna be uh yeah, yeah,
- 24:07Speaker 4: LSU and Georgia's who I'll say is in the championship. LSU, Georgia,
- 24:14Speaker 4: I know, But again LSU, Yeah, it's tough.
- 24:19Speaker 1: SEC is a fucking toss up, man. You got some
- 24:22Speaker 1: dogs in there. Hey, listen.
- 24:24Speaker 3: LSU made it to the SEC Championship with three losses
- 24:27Speaker 3: last year, and one of those being to Tennessee by
- 24:31Speaker 3: like a hundred. So think about that, like, you can
- 24:35Speaker 3: have three losses on the West or East.
- 24:38Speaker 2: And maybe get in if you beat just the other.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Person at the right time.
- 24:43Speaker 4: You see, Yeah, at the right time of the year,
- 24:44Speaker 4: because that's where a lot of that SEC bias comes
- 24:47Speaker 4: in too.
- 24:48Speaker 3: With making it in the College who will playoff. Yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 3: I'm just to start projecting. Yeah, it's okay. We got
- 24:54Speaker 3: weeks for that. I know, I know we got weeks
- 24:56Speaker 3: for that. So I yeah, I guess I think it'll
- 24:58Speaker 3: be out of LSU and Georgia. You think it'll be
- 25:00Speaker 3: two and two, two Big ten teams, two SEC teams
- 25:04Speaker 3: in the playoff though, because.
- 25:05Speaker 4: I think the USC USC has a chance to cut
- 25:09Speaker 4: to be that team in the pack. So if they
- 25:10Speaker 4: don't drop any games that they shouldn't drop.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I know they do.
- 25:13Speaker 4: I know they always choke, but it's still it's still
- 25:17Speaker 4: set up for them to get in there. They have
- 25:19Speaker 4: the easiest path out of all these conferences and teams,
- 25:23Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 25:23Speaker 3: So if they make it, it's two SEC teams one
- 25:26Speaker 3: Big ten team in USC.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I don't know, man, I don't know. I think again,
- 25:33Speaker 4: it all depends on where their records are.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It's the last year of four and the next year
- 25:38Speaker 3: goes to twelve. Fuck, that's me sick, because.
- 25:42Speaker 4: I think you're gonna get it was kind of similar
- 25:44Speaker 4: with the Big Ten last year. You're gonna get a
- 25:46Speaker 4: one loss, two loss two Big Ten teams over a
- 25:49Speaker 4: three loss out side the team to get in.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Before they come over to that conference.
- 25:56Speaker 6: Yeah. So I mean I feel like USC is gonna
- 25:59Speaker 6: be trying to.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Hey, yeah, you can't sleep on like you can't sleep
- 26:04Speaker 4: on the Big twelve. We're really sleeping on the Big
- 26:06Speaker 4: twelve right now.
- 26:06Speaker 6: But I mean, you had you had TCU last year.
- 26:09Speaker 8: But they we saw, we all saw what happened in
- 26:13Speaker 8: the National Championship.
- 26:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 4: But man if if Texas puts it together, like they're
- 26:17Speaker 4: a team who can I mean they got Quinn who
- 26:20Speaker 4: can roll. Yeah, they're a team who can roll.
- 26:22Speaker 6: If Quen you wers arch Manning.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Yeah you got you got a lot happening with Texas
- 26:26Speaker 4: to where they're you know, they're probably getting bigger as
- 26:29Speaker 4: far as physically like to compete with those Juggernauts in
- 26:34Speaker 4: the SEC.
- 26:36Speaker 1: It'll be it'll be fun. Man See.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I think Texas will come out of the Big twelve.
- 26:41Speaker 4: USC in the Pac twelve.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Morgan does have bo Nicks.
- 26:48Speaker 4: It's like six Nebraska's gonna come out of the Big
- 26:52Speaker 4: ten and Georgia is gonna come out of the SEC.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I know one of my you know what it is,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I haven't done enough.
- 27:05Speaker 4: I haven't got into it enough with the SEC because honestly,
- 27:07Speaker 4: I want to say Tennessee, like that's who I would
- 27:10Speaker 4: want to.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Tennessee.
- 27:14Speaker 5: But Zuoka Joe, baby, do not sleep on the Zuoka Joe.
- 27:18Speaker 5: He's dolled in. He's gotten a lot better over the
- 27:22Speaker 5: last three years, a lot better.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be hard to beat Georgia.
- 27:30Speaker 5: That's why I'm that. And we have to go to
- 27:33Speaker 5: Tuscal loose this year and play Alabama, which is gonna
- 27:35Speaker 5: be a really tough road game.
- 27:37Speaker 4: USC Texas, Nebraska, Georgia.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Yeah, because we played at LSU last year. So uh yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 5: do what I'm doing an AD or?
- 27:51Speaker 4: Yeah, we can hit an AD. Let's get into an ad.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Read boys, can you feel the weather breaking just a

- 29:26Speaker 4: get this thing roll because I didn't even know I
- 29:27Speaker 4: haven't even let let the people know.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Like Josh McDaniels. He said, out with the.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Boys, the head coach for the Silver and Black, the
- 29:33Speaker 4: Las Vegas Raiders. We had a really fun interview, a
- 29:36Speaker 4: good thirty thirty five minute interview, sit down with him.
- 29:39Speaker 4: An awesome story about Coach Rabel him back in the
- 29:42Speaker 4: day when he was kind of running being like a
- 29:44Speaker 4: ga in that ga spot running cards, and how Vrabel
- 29:48Speaker 4: would handle himself at practice.
- 29:50Speaker 1: But really cool interview.
- 29:52Speaker 4: I think Raider fans are really gonna like hearingim from
- 29:54Speaker 4: because he definitely has this this persona out there that
- 29:57Speaker 4: we'll get into. But before we do, do some shout out.
- 30:01Speaker 4: No free shoutout, Mitch if you want to, if you
- 30:02Speaker 4: don't mind, brother kick us off.
- 30:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll start off.
- 30:06Speaker 8: My shout out no free shout out this week stems
- 30:08Speaker 8: from last week we went to the Barstool Awards. Everybody
- 30:13Speaker 8: had to be dressed to the nines. So where my
- 30:18Speaker 8: shout out comes in is when we were walking to
- 30:22Speaker 8: the venue where it was at and you hear that
- 30:26Speaker 8: dress shoe like click, like you guys are just walking
- 30:30Speaker 8: and you hear like you hear like you're wearing different
- 30:32Speaker 8: shots and I wearing sneakers, like you can hear your shoes. Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 8: that sound when you're just walking with your boys and
- 30:38Speaker 8: like just dressed up to the tent, like to the
- 30:41Speaker 8: nines and just feeling good, looking good, like we were
- 30:44Speaker 8: just walking like this is like kind of dope, like
- 30:46Speaker 8: we look we look good, we feel good, and we're
- 30:49Speaker 8: about to go play good. So it's like so that
- 30:52Speaker 8: my shout out is wearing dress sues and that sound
- 30:54Speaker 8: that they make when you're with your boys.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Do you have a photo yourself from that night?
- 30:59Speaker 6: I do not.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Damn. I would love for you to throw that in
- 31:02Speaker 1: there because it's I have.
- 31:03Speaker 8: I were the same outfit to a wedding, So I
- 31:05Speaker 8: could like throw that in there with your clip.
- 31:09Speaker 6: All right, I'm ill. Yeah, I got you.
- 31:12Speaker 4: When you're dressed to the nines and he's got the
- 31:14Speaker 4: he's just got a collar shirt on. I feel what
- 31:17Speaker 4: you're saying, though, that is a it is a vibe
- 31:19Speaker 4: you almost don't know how to You almost don't know
- 31:20Speaker 4: how to carry yourself. You're like, yo, lokey, like we're
- 31:24Speaker 4: a beast right now, but you can't act like a beast, right?
- 31:28Speaker 1: Yeah? Boys? Clean up nice?
- 31:30Speaker 5: Uh?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Jack, what do you got? Oh? What did I do?
- 31:34Speaker 5: Oh?
- 31:35Speaker 1: Yeah? Uh?
- 31:36Speaker 5: Mine is a pretty simple one in Live My shadow,
- 31:38Speaker 5: No free shadout goes to when you are low on gas,
- 31:42Speaker 5: you roll up to the gas station, put the card
- 31:45Speaker 5: in and you know, like the three premeditated clicks you
- 31:50Speaker 5: do on the gas nozzle trying to get the gas
- 31:52Speaker 5: to come out, and then it finally clicks and you
- 31:55Speaker 5: feel that way to the gas coming on. Is anyone
- 31:58Speaker 5: like you knowing dark? It's it's that that weight poll
- 32:01Speaker 5: It's like, I we're finally fucking here and you feel
- 32:04Speaker 5: it just fucking streamlining into the tank. You run in
- 32:07Speaker 5: the store, you grab yourself a water or something. You
- 32:10Speaker 5: you chill on your phone, whatever. But yeah, it's that
- 32:13Speaker 5: subtle little weight that you feel on the handle. Just
- 32:16Speaker 5: grab You're like, all right, no more work, We're just
- 32:19Speaker 5: letting it do its thing. So that's my shout out
- 32:22Speaker 5: this week.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Okay, okay man.
- 32:28Speaker 3: It could also be like horrible feeling because of how
- 32:31Speaker 3: much money's about to go in just like click like no,
- 32:35Speaker 3: but my shout out and if you shout out is
- 32:37Speaker 3: gonna go to has to do with this time of year.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Football is back, but it's when you open your said
- 32:44Speaker 3: app where you check your scores and all that stuff,
- 32:47Speaker 3: and you hit score and you have your favorite teams,
- 32:50Speaker 3: and then when you see your college and NFL team
- 32:53Speaker 3: finally on the same screen together, it's just that feeling
- 32:57Speaker 3: of holy shit, football's back, Like there's that low go
- 33:00Speaker 3: again for the next however many weeks it is eighteen weeks,
- 33:04Speaker 3: six months. Man, it's an incredible feeling, like, yeah, Alabama
- 33:08Speaker 3: plays sometsu sorry to the Blue Raiders, but I saw
- 33:13Speaker 3: that a pop up and it just gives you juice.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Hopefully this week's the fastest week of all time.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, dude.
- 33:21Speaker 4: It is like and then you know your TV asks
- 33:23Speaker 4: you like, who are your favorite teams that you want
- 33:25Speaker 4: to gear up for you? Like, I thought I picked
- 33:27Speaker 4: you guys already, but I'm excited to do this again.
- 33:31Speaker 4: But it had like the best teams on it, and
- 33:32Speaker 4: then they didn't have like Nebraska on there, and I'm thinking,
- 33:34Speaker 4: all right, yeah, just pick the conference Big ten. Hell yeah,
- 33:40Speaker 4: my shout out, no free shot. It is gonna go
- 33:42Speaker 4: to there's the conversation we have right before the Podjack.
- 33:48Speaker 4: It's like when you know that the external world and
- 33:52Speaker 4: Monday is trying to do everything it can to kill
- 33:55Speaker 4: your vibe and hurt your attitude and give you a
- 33:57Speaker 4: bad start to the week. Just the second you lapped,
- 34:00Speaker 4: you lapse and give in and fucking say something like
- 34:03Speaker 4: all these motherfuckers, that type of like clench. But in
- 34:08Speaker 4: that moment, you also grab yourself and you know, Yo,
- 34:11Speaker 4: it's Monday, and I woke up with some good juice,
- 34:14Speaker 4: some good energy, and nobody's gonna bring my shit down.
- 34:18Speaker 4: And you you fortify mentally and you push through knowing
- 34:23Speaker 4: that you're gonna crush the fucking week no.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Matter no matter what roadblock comes your way.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Now, Tuesday hasn't happened yet, neither has Wednesday, but Monday
- 34:34Speaker 4: you gotta set the tone. And when you defeat the
- 34:38Speaker 4: enemy on Monday, you can defeat the enemy the rest
- 34:40Speaker 4: of the week. And that's my shot, I know.
- 34:42Speaker 5: For your shout out, Hell yeah, almost as good as
- 34:46Speaker 5: the gas on.
- 34:50Speaker 4: The flow of gas. Hey, what that you gave me
- 34:54Speaker 4: a pet peeve. Let's get into our pet peeves. I'll
- 34:57Speaker 4: go ahead and kick off the pet peeve of the week.
- 34:59Speaker 4: My pet peeve for the week is when you do
- 35:01Speaker 4: get that gas flowing and you set it on that
- 35:04Speaker 4: little you set it on that little click or whatever
- 35:07Speaker 4: it is, and you walk away, and right when you're
- 35:08Speaker 4: about to get in your vehicle, and minds you, your
- 35:10Speaker 4: boy's in a nice Chevy Selverado.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Now I'm climbing up in that truck.
- 35:13Speaker 4: And you just hear click, like it just loses it,
- 35:16Speaker 4: and you're thinking, what the fuck is going on? And
- 35:19Speaker 4: then you set it on the lower one. It's like, Okay,
- 35:21Speaker 4: I'll take a little bit more time. Yeah, I'll scrow
- 35:22Speaker 4: the apps a little bit more. Maybe I'll find something
- 35:24Speaker 4: better I want to listen to and just vibe or say,
- 35:26Speaker 4: maybe I'll call that friend that I need to call
- 35:28Speaker 4: back right now. And so you got to set it
- 35:30Speaker 4: on the lower one. But then you start hearing it
- 35:31Speaker 4: click again. And sometimes I think to myself, this the
- 35:35Speaker 4: gas pumps. It used to have this problem, and for
- 35:38Speaker 4: whatever reason, they're having them now. But my pet peeve,
- 35:41Speaker 4: back to the pet peeve of the week, is when
- 35:44Speaker 4: you set that thing up.
- 35:46Speaker 1: What do you call that? God damn it?
- 35:50Speaker 4: Yeah, when you set that click and it locks and
- 35:53Speaker 4: it's just flowing, and you walk away and right as
- 35:56Speaker 4: you're about to get in your truck, and you just
- 35:57Speaker 4: hear that click, and you got to stop ass cracks
- 36:00Speaker 4: sitting on the outside part of your seat, and you
- 36:03Speaker 4: gotta slide back off just to turn around and go
- 36:05Speaker 4: set that thing back up again, and you hold it
- 36:07Speaker 4: just to see what's going on, and then it clicks
- 36:09Speaker 4: in your hand. You're thinking, all right now, I gotta
- 36:10Speaker 4: set this thing at the low end and write it out.
- 36:12Speaker 4: But anyway, that's my pet peep.
- 36:13Speaker 5: That's love that.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Who wants to go next? Gee, Mitch Jack?
- 36:19Speaker 4: Anybody keep this vibe going?
- 36:24Speaker 1: Biba complaining.
- 36:25Speaker 3: My pet peeve of the week is it's something simple
- 36:29Speaker 3: and it's super easy to get around. But when someone
- 36:32Speaker 3: sends you a text message of an address and it's
- 36:35Speaker 3: not hyperlinked with the line underneath it, what are we doing?
- 36:40Speaker 3: I don't know why it happens that way. I don't
- 36:41Speaker 3: know if it's from you know, like an Android to
- 36:44Speaker 3: iPhone thing. I don't know why it happens. But why
- 36:49Speaker 3: is it happening? Like, we gotta figure that out. Every
- 36:51Speaker 3: time you send an address, it just should have the
- 36:53Speaker 3: link to it.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I'm with you, I agree, I agree. That's then you
- 36:57Speaker 1: got a copy paste. Come on, yeah, it's a good
- 37:00Speaker 1: pet beef.
- 37:01Speaker 2: I got a lot of shit going on.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Ta me a little bit of time your own chet
- 37:05Speaker 1: box delete the rest. Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's my pet beef.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Apple.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I also feel like this is something parents do, but
- 37:13Speaker 5: when someone sends you a screenshot of an address, it's like, hey,
- 37:17Speaker 5: it is actually easier to just link this.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Yeah, Jack's like, goddamn it, Dad.
- 37:27Speaker 5: I'll get next. My pet peeve of the week is
- 37:30Speaker 5: people who are shitty to service workers, specifically like restaurant employees.
- 37:36Speaker 5: People who think they're above like the law and just
- 37:39Speaker 5: because they're paying for like a twenty dollars entre at
- 37:42Speaker 5: a fucking Chili's that they can yell at some poorness
- 37:45Speaker 5: a woman who's just like trying to make enough money
- 37:47Speaker 5: to send your kid to daycare. It's like, be better,
- 37:51Speaker 5: Like it's not like the end of the world if
- 37:53Speaker 5: someone like forgets your ranch or they mess up in order,
- 37:56Speaker 5: and there maybe is a time or two in your
- 37:58Speaker 5: life when serving this is so bad that it warrants
- 38:01Speaker 5: some kind of response. And I get that, but I
- 38:05Speaker 5: feel like, at all costs, it is like always better
- 38:09Speaker 5: to just be understanding and like not like be like
- 38:13Speaker 5: what are they going through? Maybe they're having a bad day,
- 38:16Speaker 5: maybe some's going on in their world, but like they're
- 38:18Speaker 5: doing their best. And the service industry, if you've ever
- 38:21Speaker 5: been a bartender or a server or a cook, it
- 38:25Speaker 5: is a brutal industry to work in. So it like
- 38:29Speaker 5: fucking grinds my gears when people take the smallest things
- 38:32Speaker 5: in a restaurant and take that as an opportunity to
- 38:36Speaker 5: go in on some poor whatever man, woman, child, And
- 38:41Speaker 5: I just fucking hate that. It's an immediate like red
- 38:44Speaker 5: flag to me where I'm like, Okay, you clearly are
- 38:48Speaker 5: not the person I thought you were, and it immediately
- 38:51Speaker 5: lowers my standards for them, like almost forever. So if
- 38:54Speaker 5: you're ever eating out with me and you're shitty to
- 38:56Speaker 5: a service worker, I'm gonna think badly of you, probably
- 38:59Speaker 5: for the rest to my life. But yeah, let's just
- 39:01Speaker 5: treat our service workers better. What happened over the weekend,
- 39:05Speaker 5: and that that was just in my phone, It actually
- 39:07Speaker 5: happened to something that felt that happened this summer. And
- 39:11Speaker 5: I'm not gonna mention the guy because one of my
- 39:13Speaker 5: really good friends, but he was kind of drunk and
- 39:17Speaker 5: unfortunately the waitress it took thirty minutes to get our
- 39:21Speaker 5: drinks at first, and then it took another like fifteen
- 39:24Speaker 5: to get a server back to take our order, and
- 39:27Speaker 5: then he like went off on her, and like one
- 39:30Speaker 5: of our friends who's not very vocal snapped on him
- 39:34Speaker 5: and I was like, that's what I'm talking about, and
- 39:36Speaker 5: then it kind of was all resolved. The lady she
- 39:39Speaker 5: hopped to it. Our food came out super fast. So yeah,
- 39:43Speaker 5: this doesn't something that just happened this weekend, but it's
- 39:45Speaker 5: something that I will stand by very heavily. We have
- 39:48Speaker 5: to treat our service workers better. They don't. They're not
- 39:51Speaker 5: paid like incredibly well, and at the end of the day,
- 39:54Speaker 5: it's like, dude, it's you know, just another meal. We're
- 39:57Speaker 5: gonna get it.
- 39:57Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean that's a good one. That's a
- 40:00Speaker 4: good one. I'm glad like you were able to vocalize that.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I felt like it's something that's been in the basement
- 40:04Speaker 4: for a minute now.
- 40:05Speaker 1: It was. Yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 8: My pet peeve of the week is it's kind of
- 40:12Speaker 8: it comes down to situational awareness. Essentially, if you walk
- 40:16Speaker 8: into the bathroom and it's wide open, like nobody's at
- 40:20Speaker 8: the jurnals, nobody's in the stall, and you decide to
- 40:23Speaker 8: go into the stall to pee, and then somebody else
- 40:26Speaker 8: comes in behind you and like they have to poop,
- 40:31Speaker 8: but you're in there peeing in the stall when the
- 40:34Speaker 8: urinals are wide open, Like what are you doing? The
- 40:38Speaker 8: stall unless the bathroom is packed, is meant for pooping
- 40:43Speaker 8: and when So when I like it happened, like a
- 40:47Speaker 8: week or two ago, I walked.
- 40:48Speaker 4: All the stalls were taken, but none of the yurnals.
- 40:52Speaker 8: Most of the time, it's just like two jeurnals and
- 40:54Speaker 8: a stall. So like it's you walk in, somebody's in
- 40:59Speaker 8: the stall, there's nobody in the urnals and you can
- 41:00Speaker 8: just hear them peeing, and it's like, bro, I have
- 41:04Speaker 8: to poop, Like use the urinal if you just got
- 41:07Speaker 8: a pee, Like just have that awareness that like, hey,
- 41:09Speaker 8: somebody might have to might have to come in and
- 41:11Speaker 8: poop after me or poop while like I mean in here,
- 41:14Speaker 8: so like use the urinal it like, and you're just
- 41:18Speaker 8: sitting there waiting and like somebody somebody will walk in
- 41:21Speaker 8: and be like, oh, like I'm like not waiting for
- 41:23Speaker 8: this because some assholes in here peeing when it should
- 41:26Speaker 8: be used for pooping.
- 41:28Speaker 6: My pet peeve is when people pee installs. People pee
- 41:30Speaker 6: installs when there's open urinals.
- 41:33Speaker 4: Listen, I was trying to navigate through that a little bit.
- 41:36Speaker 4: But I'll get on board with you. If you're not going.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Into the stall to sit and pee, you shouldn't be
- 41:43Speaker 1: in there, right.
- 41:48Speaker 4: But I'm saying he's saying that they're standing, somebody sits
- 41:52Speaker 4: in p's like, you know, there's at least you're sitting
- 41:54Speaker 4: in peeing.
- 41:55Speaker 6: Right at least it's kind of looks like you're pooping.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Right, But if you're it's like, who is anybody to
- 41:59Speaker 4: say that? Because anytime you poop, you're probably pooping MP.
- 42:02Speaker 6: Yeah. But like if you're just strictly going into the
- 42:05Speaker 6: jurinal or to.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Be in the in the in a stall that grind
- 42:09Speaker 1: your gears. Stop doing that.
- 42:11Speaker 4: If everybody out there, do not fucking do that, especially
- 42:13Speaker 4: when you know Mitch is in the building.
- 42:14Speaker 6: Because I got it, like, you gotta go, you gotta go, you.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Gotta take it down.
- 42:19Speaker 6: So that's my pet peeve.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I can I can get on board with that, brother.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Yeah, So if you guys are watching right now, I'll
- 42:29Speaker 4: go ahead and drop comments pet peeves.
- 42:33Speaker 1: What else do we have here?
- 42:34Speaker 4: Do we want to get into dude wipe, shittiest moment,
- 42:37Speaker 4: teared talk, twisted question. Do we have a twisted question?
- 42:41Speaker 4: We get into the interview, should we hit some twisted
- 42:47Speaker 4: question in the in the in the theme, no, we
- 42:52Speaker 4: gotta hit that was. What else are we gonna the
- 42:57Speaker 4: twisted question? Here's what we'll do. We're gonna do the
- 42:59Speaker 4: twisted question because the light in the theme, in the
- 43:02Speaker 4: good vibes of college football being back, we do have
- 43:05Speaker 4: a twisted question? Is brought to you by the twisted
- 43:08Speaker 4: Kings of twisted tea. Perfect for pool parties, perfect for tailgates.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Like listen at the end of the day. If you're
- 43:14Speaker 4: not at the tailgates watch parties, you're hosting a party
- 43:16Speaker 4: at your house and you don't have a fridge or
- 43:18Speaker 4: cooler full of twisted teas, you're.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Doing it wrong. You are doing it wrong this football season.
- 43:23Speaker 4: If you don't have a twisted ta in your hand,
- 43:25Speaker 4: grab a refreshing twist the tea. Today, they're essentially everywhere,
- 43:29Speaker 4: But this twisted question comes to us. I want to say,
- 43:32Speaker 4: Garrett was brainstorming this boy, and it's essentially would you
- 43:37Speaker 4: rather go to the college football If would you rather
- 43:40Speaker 4: your team go to the college football playoff four years
- 43:42Speaker 4: in a row, or win one national championship. Now, are
- 43:48Speaker 4: we saying, go to the national championship four years in
- 43:50Speaker 4: a row and lose, or you lose, or you win
- 43:54Speaker 4: one national title and you're let's just say, you don't
- 43:59Speaker 4: sniff the top ten the other three years. All right,
- 44:04Speaker 4: So would you rather go to the college Would you
- 44:07Speaker 4: rather go to the national championship four years in a
- 44:10Speaker 4: row and lose or win one national championship and not
- 44:16Speaker 4: sniff the top ten the other three years?
- 44:20Speaker 2: You mean to start?
- 44:22Speaker 1: Go ahead?
- 44:22Speaker 3: Yeah, do you mean to speak from experience? I'd rather
- 44:27Speaker 3: take the one we got Crimson time. I'd rather take
- 44:30Speaker 3: the one just because for that one year you can
- 44:33Speaker 3: talk endless shit. You know, it's like your one time
- 44:36Speaker 3: to kind of just be like, you can't say shit
- 44:38Speaker 3: to me the other years.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Like and you got it forever.
- 44:41Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, yeah, you got it forever.
- 44:43Speaker 3: But if you have the other, if you're going and
- 44:46Speaker 3: losing the other years, you have like shut the fuck up.
- 44:51Speaker 3: So I would pick one. What about as a player?
- 44:54Speaker 4: As a player, one, Mitch, what about you?
- 45:02Speaker 8: There is something kind of to be said about the
- 45:05Speaker 8: consistency of making it back four years in a row,
- 45:08Speaker 8: but then you always have that you guys choked or yeah,
- 45:13Speaker 8: but like it's and to be like to keep that
- 45:17Speaker 8: and like to wear that for like essentially.
- 45:18Speaker 6: The rest of your life.
- 45:20Speaker 8: It's something that's super super tough. But also if you
- 45:24Speaker 8: win just one, they could say it was like a fluke.
- 45:26Speaker 8: So like, I think I would have to go national
- 45:33Speaker 8: championship four years because for four year consecutive years you
- 45:38Speaker 8: were the second best team in the in the country. Yeah,
- 45:43Speaker 8: second best sucks, but it's like maybe you win, maybe
- 45:47Speaker 8: you lose one of those games by like a field goal,
- 45:49Speaker 8: maybe you lose like some weird play. But to be
- 45:53Speaker 8: able to go back to four games four years in
- 45:56Speaker 8: a row, I think there's something to be said about it.
- 46:00Speaker 1: You're on the you're on the boat with four years
- 46:01Speaker 1: in a row.
- 46:02Speaker 5: I think, so, yeah, Jack, this is the easiest answer ever.
- 46:07Speaker 5: You win one national championship, who gives a fuck if
- 46:10Speaker 5: you're second place four years in a row. Like just
- 46:13Speaker 5: like what Mitchell's saying, You're you're just you're not even
- 46:17Speaker 5: a good team at that point. You're just good at choking.
- 46:20Speaker 5: You're like you're just Michigan that's all you are. You're
- 46:24Speaker 5: making it there, but you're not. You're making it the game. No, but,
- 46:30Speaker 5: but our original thing was college football playoff and Michigan
- 46:33Speaker 5: is two more years away from being this exact example
- 46:37Speaker 5: because they are making it two years in a row
- 46:40Speaker 5: and then choking horrendously. So would you rather have one
- 46:45Speaker 5: ring or have four years of stories of how you
- 46:48Speaker 5: almost were a champion? It just seems so easy in
- 46:52Speaker 5: my opinion. The only thing I can think of to
- 46:54Speaker 5: argue for the four years is that if you're making
- 46:56Speaker 5: it to the Natty every year, you are most likely
- 46:59Speaker 5: beating all of your rivals, and that to me is
- 47:02Speaker 5: something to stand on. But at the end of the day,
- 47:05Speaker 5: if my rival has made it to the National Championship
- 47:08Speaker 5: four years in a row and loss, I don't give
- 47:11Speaker 5: a fuck. If you beat me, you lost too, Like
- 47:13Speaker 5: we're all losers. There's only one winner at the end
- 47:16Speaker 5: of the day.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Well, that's a spin zone you always have to put
- 47:18Speaker 1: yourself in, true, but.
- 47:20Speaker 5: I still would want to have one ring in three
- 47:23Speaker 5: average years, then to go to the College Football Championship
- 47:26Speaker 5: four years and then be just like emotionally damaged goods
- 47:31Speaker 5: for the rest of my life because you were that.
- 47:33Speaker 5: Imagine being a senior like in the locker room getting
- 47:37Speaker 5: the hype speech and be like we've been here three
- 47:40Speaker 5: times already, Yeah we haven't done it, but.
- 47:42Speaker 1: This is the year.
- 47:43Speaker 5: And then you walk back in as a senior like,
- 47:45Speaker 5: well we didn't do it again. And then you go
- 47:47Speaker 5: to the NFL as a college kid and all the
- 47:50Speaker 5: scouts are like, man, he's a great quarterback. He can
- 47:53Speaker 5: do this and that, but he cannot close when the
- 47:56Speaker 5: moment counts. So your draft stocks already drop it. When
- 48:00Speaker 5: that Natty is a senior while they're three average years,
- 48:03Speaker 5: is like, hey, they battled through, you know, grit and grind,
- 48:06Speaker 5: they made it through. There win your freshman year, Like
- 48:09Speaker 5: what if you that's true? This is where we get
- 48:11Speaker 5: into like a hairy like.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, low key yeah.
- 48:16Speaker 5: If you win as a freshman and then go average
- 48:18Speaker 5: three years, you might as well just not even try
- 48:21Speaker 5: for the pros. I guess I don't know, but I
- 48:24Speaker 5: still stand on I would love to have one Natty
- 48:27Speaker 5: because in twenty years, when like no one gives a
- 48:29Speaker 5: fuck about you anymore, and it's like your grandson's the one,
- 48:32Speaker 5: like throwing out twelve leg parlays on the college football Championship.
- 48:37Speaker 5: You can still have that ring on your fist, or
- 48:40Speaker 5: you can have four war stories about how you got
- 48:43Speaker 5: a silver medal every year in your college career.
- 48:46Speaker 1: You're wearing or you're wearing four conference championship rings on
- 48:49Speaker 1: your hand.
- 48:49Speaker 5: Crew, Yeah, that is that is true for you.
- 48:52Speaker 4: Bring you you you pull very good points cause I
- 48:57Speaker 4: low key was in the boat of the four years
- 48:59Speaker 4: in a row. Oh but the way you just spoke
- 49:02Speaker 4: right there almost, I mean, you might just want to
- 49:06Speaker 4: win one because you are You're like you're cemented in
- 49:09Speaker 4: history forever.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Nat, However, in the moment.
- 49:14Speaker 4: As a player, if you because look at the end
- 49:17Speaker 4: of the day, if I say four years, like I haven't,
- 49:20Speaker 4: I've never won the big champion. I've never won a
- 49:22Speaker 4: big championship, never won state, never won you know, obviously,
- 49:25Speaker 4: not a national championship, not a conference championship in Nebraska.
- 49:29Speaker 4: In the NFL, we just want to you know, a
- 49:32Speaker 4: handful of division titles, but nothing of substance in the playoffs.
- 49:37Speaker 4: So I don't know what that sweet nectar tastes like.
- 49:39Speaker 4: I know what it's like to be defeated, and it
- 49:40Speaker 4: is like when you feel like you fall short of expectation,
- 49:43Speaker 4: which ut only every other team feels that way at
- 49:46Speaker 4: the end of the year. If you lose the big one, right,
- 49:48Speaker 4: if you lose the super Bowl, you work so hard
- 49:51Speaker 4: to get there, only to lose is probably the worst pain.
- 49:53Speaker 1: That you can have, and you don't want to feel that.
- 49:56Speaker 4: You'd rather just win once and then maybe, you know,
- 49:58Speaker 4: maybe be average the other three years. But also think
- 50:01Speaker 4: if you're a player and you're winning those three years, yeah,
- 50:04Speaker 4: you do lose, and when you're talking on a high
- 50:06Speaker 4: level of like being number two and choking, but those
- 50:09Speaker 4: moments of beating your rivals every year, winning your conference
- 50:13Speaker 4: championship every year, like being the standard year in and
- 50:16Speaker 4: year out around the town, around the city, and the
- 50:19Speaker 4: expectation obviously is so massive to where it is like
- 50:21Speaker 4: all this choke job of a team just couldn't get
- 50:23Speaker 4: over the humpings. Like the Bills in the early nineties
- 50:25Speaker 4: of the NFL, it went to like three Super Bowls
- 50:27Speaker 4: and lost them all, right, which they still had a
- 50:30Speaker 4: documentary about it, so you would still probably get an
- 50:32Speaker 4: untold story about that time. That generation of going four
- 50:35Speaker 4: times and losing four Natties in a row. But in
- 50:38Speaker 4: those moments with the boys, all four years of being
- 50:44Speaker 4: at the top, just not quite getting there.
- 50:48Speaker 5: I just feel like in that moment in year three
- 50:50Speaker 5: and four, the people who support you the most are
- 50:54Speaker 5: the people who are gonna be affected by it. Like
- 50:57Speaker 5: you're beating your rivals is awesome. But if if you've
- 51:00Speaker 5: been with this team and you're on year four and
- 51:03Speaker 5: you've lost the Natty three years in a row, you're like, yeah,
- 51:05Speaker 5: we're doing great, we're beating whoever, but we're we're gonna
- 51:09Speaker 5: lose in the Natty, and it's like then you just
- 51:12Speaker 5: you're left sad every year. And to me, it almost
- 51:15Speaker 5: is like a Joe Burrow situation. Like I know he
- 51:18Speaker 5: wasn't LSU, he came from OSHU, but he won that
- 51:22Speaker 5: one Natty and is cemented as like now one of
- 51:25Speaker 5: LSU's greatest ever. Yeah, I mean that one season, That's
- 51:32Speaker 5: what I'm saying though, And like now he's like LSU
- 51:35Speaker 5: royalty for one year. If he If you, let's.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Say something, you can always like get with the boys
- 51:42Speaker 4: and talk about like we fucking.
- 51:44Speaker 5: We we put together a hard nosed football team.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Man, if we just if we could have done something
- 51:48Speaker 4: the other and it's like some one gives a fuck
- 51:50Speaker 4: about that anymore.
- 51:50Speaker 1: That stuff's forgotten. But we got that one.
- 51:53Speaker 4: You're right, I think I gotta go one national title.
- 51:55Speaker 4: You swayed me. You swayed me, and thank you for that.
- 51:59Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you for that.
- 52:01Speaker 8: What if like, like we said, you win it your
- 52:04Speaker 8: freshman or sophomore year and then your junior senior season
- 52:08Speaker 8: is just like, yeah, you had that taste.
- 52:11Speaker 6: The big Oh.
- 52:11Speaker 1: So what I was also going to say is so
- 52:13Speaker 1: I had two answers.
- 52:14Speaker 4: As a fan, I think I want to win it
- 52:16Speaker 4: one time, no matter what, because you have the bragging rights,
- 52:18Speaker 4: and then forever you can pull from that year. Right,
- 52:21Speaker 4: It's like you get to pull from that one year
- 52:24Speaker 4: in all of your spin zones that you have to create.
- 52:26Speaker 4: But talking strictly as a player is where Jack swayed me,
- 52:30Speaker 4: because I was kind of like, man, you go four
- 52:32Speaker 4: years in a row. You're playing with arguably the best
- 52:34Speaker 4: team in the nation, four years in a row as
- 52:36Speaker 4: a college athlete, and you're part of arguably the best
- 52:40Speaker 4: defense of that generation. I know, in my instance, like
- 52:43Speaker 4: you're on the bigger and better things. But in that
- 52:47Speaker 4: moment of having that one championship. And now to your point,
- 52:50Speaker 4: if you do it and you don't really put a
- 52:52Speaker 4: whole lot into the if you're not out there on
- 52:54Speaker 4: the field pouring into that national championship, you're gonna be
- 52:58Speaker 4: one of those guys trying to like hold that standard.
- 53:00Speaker 4: And ultimately, no matter what you end up said, but
- 53:05Speaker 4: at least you get to be a guy that goes
- 53:07Speaker 4: out still going to the Natty every year because you
- 53:11Speaker 4: are holding that standard. Man, You're right, Like, it's just
- 53:14Speaker 4: every situation you could put, you put yourself in a
- 53:17Speaker 4: different chair, and I feel like the answer could be
- 53:18Speaker 4: the same in a lot of scenarios. Because if you
- 53:21Speaker 4: win your freshman year and you're on the sideline throwing
- 53:23Speaker 4: the towel, but you're a player, it's like, yeah, you
- 53:25Speaker 4: get to claim the national title, but you're almost claiming
- 53:27Speaker 4: it more as like with your boys that aren't on
- 53:30Speaker 4: the team as a fan and talking about to people
- 53:32Speaker 4: you don't know, versus when you're sitting in around the
- 53:35Speaker 4: table with the guys and the players, you almost just
- 53:37Speaker 4: shy away from being in the conversation because you know
- 53:38Speaker 4: you didn't do it, You didn't do anything.
- 53:41Speaker 3: Yeah, interesting, Hey, this is a good little question. I
- 53:45Speaker 3: got a little question with that. It might be too
- 53:48Speaker 3: early for this answer, but would you rather hoist the
- 53:54Speaker 3: old crystal football or.
- 53:56Speaker 2: The new National Championship Trophy?
- 54:00Speaker 1: Yeah, crystal Ball would be I.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Think that one's just iconic, and that's why I think
- 54:03Speaker 3: it might be too early with this one. Yeah, they
- 54:05Speaker 3: just haven't gone when you think back at the coach
- 54:10Speaker 3: or player lifting it up, all the cameras going off,
- 54:12Speaker 3: and it reflecting off of it, Like some of those
- 54:15Speaker 3: are the most badass, like memorable things.
- 54:18Speaker 4: That's how you know how good BAM is because I'm
- 54:21Speaker 4: just picturing save and hoisting the Crystal ball.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, LSU though too.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt, no doubt.
- 54:30Speaker 2: But I think that Crystal Ball trophy was is the one.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Yeah what is it? There? You go?
- 54:36Speaker 6: Gie?
- 54:37Speaker 1: Yeah like that too? God? College football? Man? Sick college football?
- 54:46Speaker 1: So back man?
- 54:48Speaker 4: Oh shit, Like do we get into uh should we
- 54:51Speaker 4: do our tier talk? Tier talk or shittiest moment? Let's
- 54:56Speaker 4: do tier talk. We interrupt this episode to bring you
- 54:58Speaker 4: the Pig with Pig Rye Whiskey. Our tiar Talk is
- 55:03Speaker 4: brought to us by Whistle Pig the Best Rye Whiskey
- 55:06Speaker 4: on the on the planet. Sitting up here are three bottles.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Their most popular their age six year Rye whiskey, which
- 55:13Speaker 4: is what they're most known for that flies off the
- 55:15Speaker 4: shelves everywhere at your local retailer.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Is their age six year great drink.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Their most sought after is their ten year age whistle
- 55:24Speaker 4: Pig rye whiskey. This is phenomenal. I think this tenure
- 55:28Speaker 4: is my number two only to their age twelve year
- 55:31Speaker 4: but a great bottle nonetheless. And then whistle Pig got
- 55:35Speaker 4: a got a got an itch to make a bourbon,
- 55:37Speaker 4: to get in the bourbon game. The one brand they
- 55:39Speaker 4: wanted to do it with. There's a couple brands. You
- 55:41Speaker 4: got KFC Radio, but also Busting with the Boys. They
- 55:44Speaker 4: trusted Busting with the Boys to pick out their bourbon
- 55:47Speaker 4: and put it in a bottle and slap their known
- 55:49Speaker 4: credible historic logo on it and sell it when you
- 55:52Speaker 4: go to any local retailer they're gonna have.
- 55:54Speaker 1: As for the Busting with the Boys, whistle.
- 55:56Speaker 4: Pig bourbon, you can get it at any retailer that
- 56:00Speaker 4: sells whistle Pig whiskey, and it should be there and
- 56:03Speaker 4: it should have a sticker on it.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Now we're going to get into our tier talk.
- 56:07Speaker 4: And we know how everybody gets the floor solo when
- 56:10Speaker 4: it's their turn to talk. A way to do this
- 56:13Speaker 4: could be like, hey, this is the talking stick. You
- 56:15Speaker 4: gotta hold the bottle of whistle pig whiskey. Is there
- 56:18Speaker 4: a name we can call it? Outside a talking stick,
- 56:22Speaker 4: talking bottle? That's big as bighead thinking right there, Mitch.
- 56:25Speaker 4: So when you're talking and you're holding the talking bottle, yeah,
- 56:30Speaker 4: working title, then it's your time to talk. But let's
- 56:33Speaker 4: get into our tier talk, our tear talk. This week
- 56:35Speaker 4: is going to be best things, going back to school,
- 56:42Speaker 4: best things, going back to school, high school, I'm thinking
- 56:45Speaker 4: high school days, best things going back to school?
- 56:48Speaker 5: In general? Is a high school?
- 56:49Speaker 1: Is it college? High school? So we say high school,
- 56:51Speaker 1: should say college.
- 56:59Speaker 5: Is our demo though high schoolers, but everybody, nobody has.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Everybody's got that nostalgia, right, I think you done?
- 57:15Speaker 1: It was different? It was different.
- 57:19Speaker 4: Whatever I mean in football is always like pretty straightforward
- 57:23Speaker 4: when you're going into your first week of school in college.
- 57:26Speaker 8: Yeah, but mine's like a bit different because you were
- 57:28Speaker 8: probably at Nebraska all summer.
- 57:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I yeah, it wasn't.
- 57:35Speaker 4: Either way back when you're explaining what, Yeah, you go
- 57:41Speaker 4: back to school, back to school, whatever you want to do,
- 57:43Speaker 4: it's your own.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's your own.
- 57:46Speaker 6: Ge.
- 57:47Speaker 4: Whoever wants to start it off back there, because I
- 57:49Speaker 4: ain't doing it, make sure make sure you hold that
- 57:53Speaker 4: uh that whistle pig whiskey bottle, loud and proud.
- 58:08Speaker 6: All right.
- 58:08Speaker 8: I haven't done any research, all right, My my tier three,
- 58:16Speaker 8: going back to school is just getting back in that
- 58:20Speaker 8: and getting back in.
- 58:21Speaker 6: Like a solid routine. I guess you can.
- 58:25Speaker 8: It can kind of go both high school or college,
- 58:28Speaker 8: but like you you have that like I'm like a
- 58:31Speaker 8: schedule person.
- 58:31Speaker 6: Like you have that schedule.
- 58:32Speaker 8: You know where you're supposed to be at what times,
- 58:34Speaker 8: for how long, and what you're supposed to be doing
- 58:37Speaker 8: after that, and like so on and so forth. So
- 58:39Speaker 8: having having that schedule and that routine is is big
- 58:43Speaker 8: for me. My tier two this is gonna be more
- 58:50Speaker 8: college related. But when you go back and you move
- 58:55Speaker 8: in to like your apartment or your dorm or wherever
- 58:59Speaker 8: you're at with your roommates, and like the four of
- 59:02Speaker 8: you were just or however many of you were just
- 59:04Speaker 8: back together, it's like that camaraderie and the hype of
- 59:09Speaker 8: like the first week and that first weekend out is
- 59:12Speaker 8: just unmatched because you're just you're back with the boys,
- 59:14Speaker 8: who knows how long it's been since you've seen them last,
- 59:17Speaker 8: and you just get to like you're just back and
- 59:19Speaker 8: it's like we're here to run this thing and do
- 59:23Speaker 8: it again.
- 59:24Speaker 6: And then my tier one.
- 59:27Speaker 8: Kind of obvious once once you're back for school, football's back.
- 59:31Speaker 8: And if you're playing football, that first Friday night game,
- 59:36Speaker 8: Saturday game, that entire week, you were just laser focused
- 59:42Speaker 8: in the meetings, in your workouts and your practice. You're
- 59:46Speaker 8: just like, oh, this first team is fucked, Like I
- 59:50Speaker 8: am so locked in right now you couldn't like nothing's
- 59:54Speaker 8: going to take me off of this. And for us,
- 59:56Speaker 8: our first game was a rivalry game. It was called
- 59:59Speaker 8: Battle for the stag At and it's like, so you
- 1:00:02Speaker 8: win a trophy every time we've beat we played live coming,
- 1:00:05Speaker 8: we beat them like fifteen years in a row. So
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: it's not much of a robberie game, uh subtle flex,
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: but that first game, it's like, you know, it's hype.
- 1:00:14Speaker 8: You know it's gonna be crazy. Everybody from the school
- 1:00:17Speaker 8: is gonna be there, especially in high school Friday night
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: first Friday night of the game, the stamps are going
- 1:00:21Speaker 8: to be packed. You have that expectation of the year.
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: Tier one football being back and playing in that first game.
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: Brought to you by.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Whisping Yeah Jack, make sure to hold it.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Okay, I was probably more important if I'm just holding it,
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: I guess, But if you're going to share your tier talk,
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: make sure you're holding it so that way they can.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I can get.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: Recap recap on a recap again, what was your three
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: on you? I got lost in the I got lost
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: in your eyes when you start talking Friday Friday football,
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: because that was that's my Yeah.
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: Three was getting in a room scene.
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: Two was being back in like your apartment, are doing
- 1:01:03Speaker 8: with your with the boys, and then one football.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Those are good.
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: My tier talk for back to school. The best things
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: about going back to school, honorable mention, is going to
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: be figuring out which of your boys are in your
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: new classes. You show up on that first day, usually
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: a half day, and you're like pretty excited to be
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: there walking to a class. All of a sudden, you
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: see one of your guys. You're like, Okay, it's about
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: to go down this semester, this whole year or whatever
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: may be. So that's always fun, especially because I hated school,
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: so like the first week of school was like Okay,
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: I don't know have to actually do much, but I
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: get to enjoy being here and then you like give
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: like depressed.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: You're like, fuck, I hate cool.
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: Yer three, Uh, back to school fits. I love showing
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: up off a new pair of sneakers or a new
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: sweatshirt or maybe my senior year, we had a thing
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: where we all got like children's backpacks basically like Power
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: Rangers and Ninja Turtles. We all kind of had like
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: our own little thing. It's kind of like a tradition
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: at our high school. So like that was fun to
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: kind of show up and show off you have like
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: absolutely nothing in the backpack. You might have a football
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: or like one pencil and like a crumpled up piece
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: of paper, but it's all about the backpack. So yeah,
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: just back to school fits in general. My Tier two
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: is girls is seeing those girls who may be blossomed
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: over the summer, or one that you remember from the
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: fall or from September. And I said, with the spring
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: and coming back and being like yeah, I mean time
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: is really doing you a favor right now, Like you're
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: looking good. Maybe we have Spanish together, maybe we have
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: a class or two together, and that's nice. And my
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: tier one obviously it's the boys. It's being back with
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: all the fellas, but specifically in high school, it's like
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: that first few weeks in lunch when because for us
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: at Brentwood, there were four separate lunch periods that would
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: be like thirty five minutes each, so you didn't know
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: if you were in a specific lunch with certain people,
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: and then you find out day one, like who's gonna
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: be your lunch crew? So that's always nice to kind
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: of like establish the order, the hierarchy, like are you
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: gonna be getting dogged at lunch this year? Are you
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: gonna be the dog? So I always love being back
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: with the fellas, back at lunch, you know, kind of
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: stirring up some trouble.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: So that that is that's my tiar talk.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: The lunch one's a good one. At lunch one is nice.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: I didn't think about that. My tier talk for going
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: back to school. I think the honorable mention is gonna
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: be the first year you're going back to school and
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: you have your driver's license in high school, something about that,
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: like you just feel it's probably like junior year for
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: some people, maybe sophomore year. But when you can roll
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: into the parking lot by yourself for the first time,
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: I think that's a hype feeling.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: My Tier three is gonna be.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: You've spent the whole summer and even the year prior
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: figuring out who your new roommates are gonna be, and
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: when you get moved in, like Mitchell saying, that first
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: week is unmatched with back with like your roommates, it's
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: just it's unmatched.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Tier two.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna agree on the seeing who's in your class,
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: like seeing your dogs, then also seeing like what girls
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: you have in your class, and knowing if you got
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: like a legit chill teacher or not. You know, no
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: matter what greade it is, high school or college, like
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: you know day one if it's going to be hell
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: or not. So that's tier two. Tier one.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Is that first hangover in college.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: I think, kind of tying it in with three, but
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: going out you feel invincible and then you wake up
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: and you're probably going right back at it on that
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Saturday or whatever it is. So I think that that
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: first one is that first party. It's yeah, yeah, I
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: love it.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: It's my word. That's my word. We did forget to
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: do words, Taylor, You want to pass that one up? Boys?
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Those were those are good tier talks, yep, my tier talk.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: M hm. Honorable mention is going to be.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: Getting the teachers you want, whether it's the spring before
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: or leading up to and you're trying to select those teachers,
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: and and the vets ahead of you know, they've they've
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: let you in on some background like hey, so and
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: so is tough, so and so's easy, so and so
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: it's cool, Like you want to be in those classes
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: where you might get a little bit more leeway, you
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: know what I mean? Or like to Garrett's point, how
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: tight is it gonna be in here? Like are we
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: going to be surviving? That's gonna be my honorable mention.
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: I really wanted to say that lunch table one because
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: that lunch table one is all time. My tier three
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: is going to be how you were saying when you
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: get your license in that first time going back, My
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: tier three is gonna be I don't know how you
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: guys did it, but we got to. You know, you
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: get to select your parking spot like first come, first
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: serve type of mentality so when you're older, the seniors
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: going into senior year would camp at the school for
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: that first day you could sign up because you're trying
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: to get that first row. So it was like a
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: cool thing in North County that would take place and happen.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: I just remember that year, like you have your license,
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: you're getting your chuck. He just got this gto and
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: he would bang fucking like Mike Jones. And those were
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: just the days, Manu. But getting your parking spot when
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: you have your license and everything else and preparing the summer,
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: like preparing how you're gonna go about it with the boys.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Myke.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Tier two is gonna be getting in the classrooms with
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: your with your boys, like with your friends, Like you
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: just know it's gonna be up all all semester.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: And if you get in those classes.
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: The best is when you get in those classes and
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: again like fourth period, knowing that fourth period is gonna
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: go into lunch, so you're running from your class with
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: your boys to the lunch room.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: You just know, like yeah running, bro, Yeah we were run.
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: But get getting getting in classes with your boys, and
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: my Tier one, there's nothing like Friday night lights, Dude.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: The first week of Friday Night Lights.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: You're like, my hands are sweating thinking about it, like
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: the upper classman.
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: That's whether it's pressure, attention, or like, hey, you know,
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: I can't wait you you're just getting out there for
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: the first time, or when you're being a scene and
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: you're telling a young guy, you're trying to tell the
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: guys like this is fucking it.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: This is the year. We're gonna remember this forever.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: Fresh off watching Friday Night Lights or something like that.
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: Might have a girl wearing your jersey down the hall, might.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: Have a girl wearing your jersey, your letterman's jacket, just
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: all of it. The spirit of Friday Night Lights in
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: the air. The band is like playing in my head
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: right now, and you just feel like we're about to
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: just transition into some high school football scene at any
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: moment from busting with the boys. But it's Friday Night Lights.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: That's my tier one. And that concludes my whistle, big whiskey,
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: your talk.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Fuck, we bow our heads and pray to the football gods.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Now, all right, we're gonna kick off to the We're
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: gonna kick off to the Josh McDaniel coach McDaniel's interview
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: here surely This was a fun conversation. We got to
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: sit down with him. You know, he's got the it's
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: almost like he's angled as this uptight coach and everything else,
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: the way he handles this business from being a Patriots head,
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: being a Patriots guy and everything else and low Ki.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: I was nervous going into interview him because I just
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: didn't know how it would be. I didn't know what
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: kind of questions we could get, how deep we could
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: get into questions, Because you want to ask about the Raiders,
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: you want to ask about We got to ask about
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: him becoming the Colt's head coach a few years ago
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: and then backing out what he's learned since being the
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: head coach of the bronco We got again. I mentioned
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: the coach Frabel, the fun stories with coach Frabel. He
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: talks very highly. For a moment, I really tried stopping him.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: He really talked highly about Max Crosby and how how
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: well positioned their roster is going into the season because
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: they are gonna win the AFC West.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: What else did we hit on with him?
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: Yeah, you asked him what it's like cutting people?
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, cutting people? What it's like cutting people? How hard
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: that is? Now, or how hard that is being a
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: head coach, what it's like having Randy Moss's his cheat code.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: We got to get into some good Patriot stories.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: I got to ask him about like a movie scene,
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: like how he motivates guys and shit like that. But
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: I was nervous because I'm texting. I'm like texting with
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: my boys who are on the team, and I'm like, hey,
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: what are some things I can get in with Coach
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: McDaniel's about to get the guard down? And they basically
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: just said, man, I don't know, we had a shitty
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: day at practice today, so it could be tough, and
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: that just like kind of heightened the nerves. But man,
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: he was awesome, Like he was cutting it up with
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: the boys. He was telling stories like we had a
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: lot of fun. I think you guys are going to
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: enjoy this. But yeah, we got to get into we
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: got to get into cutting guys and what that's like
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: as a head coach cutting guys, which can lead into
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: we can talk about our shittiest moment. In light of
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: the preseason ending. It is Tuesday, Oh gotcha? It is Tuesday,
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: which means this is the final day four cuts. So
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: a lot of guys are getting released today. Today's like
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: grim Reaper, right, Like, you either get called. You either
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: get called ahead of time and you get brought in.
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: And as we get into the shittiest moment, the shittiest
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: moment getting cut is brought to us by Dude Wipes.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: Stop using toilet paper, drop the TP, and pick up
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: Dude wipes. The wet extra large flushable wipe that clears
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: instead of smears wiping wet. Wiping wet just cleans better
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: than wiping dry. Get confidently clean with Dude wipes that
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: gets all the crap out of the toilet and all
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: the crap out of your colon and doesn't leave any
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: paper behind. You can pick up due wipes on Amazon
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: or Walmart, and Target shouldn't wide. So yeah, the shittiest
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: moment of getting cut, it's like guys get cut in
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: different ways. You either walk into the building and there's
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: a fleet of these guys ready to just pick you
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: off at any moment. I was texting with a buddy
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: of mine the other day, which led me to that tweet, Like,
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: imagine having to wait four days because they the Titans
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: just concluded their third preseason game on Thursday, or Friday
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: and I'm texting my Hey, so, how do you think
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: it's gonna shake up?
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: How do you feel It's like, oh, we'll find out
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: on Tuesday.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: They gotta wait four days, and you got to practice
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: those four days leading up to it. Imagine knowing that
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: I'm on the bubble, I might get cut and you
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: still got to practice. You know, the way the coach
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: is treating you like I'm not making this team. I
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: didn't really get a whole lot of burning the third
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: preseason game and my boy was telling me they cut
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: you now, guys coming off the practice field like they
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: just grab you, like as you're coming off the practice field.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: So the shittiest moment of being cut mine was my rookie.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: Year, when it's like there was like a dark horse
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: shot of making the Washington Redskins and you're literally up
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: the entire like you just don't sleep well. You're trying
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: to message assistant coaches that you feel like you had
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: some kind of rapport with to be like, hey, what
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: are you hearing? Like are they gonna keep five here?
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: They're gonna where is it? Look like I'm stacking up?
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: But you know, you just have no clue and you're
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: so nervous, your anxiety is so high. And the next
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: morning I woke up and there was an area code
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: that called seven oh three I believe I think it was.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: And you get this area code and you're just like
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: fuck man, cause you're just hoping nobody calls. It's like
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: six six thirty in the morning. I'm texting my boys
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: who are on the team, like, man, that just got called.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: So I'm thinking, maybe you're out of a maybe you're
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: out of it because you haven't been called yet. Sure enough,
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: a phone call seven o three area code comes across
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: my phone and it's like, hey, good news and bad news.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: Good news is we want to bring you back on
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: the practice squad. Bad news is we're gonna cut you
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: and make sure you get your playbook, bring your iPad
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: in and everything else because we kind of got to
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: go through the process. You get in this van and
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: you're just going over with the boys. You get cut,
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: and then you go in and the grim Reapers are
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: standing there like on the railing and they're like, hey,
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: come back with me this way. They kind of take
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: you through the ringer where you meet with the head coach,
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: you meet with the position coach everybody else just to
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: pack your bags and get cut.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: But dude, getting cut sucks, man, Like it sucks.
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: It's almost like when you know you're a bubble guy too,
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: and there's a lot of not expectation, but everybody's excited
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: for you. Like it's like if you guys are my
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: boys and you guys are in, like I'm sure it's
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: like this with dobs and stuff, Like when he was
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: ever trying to make a roster anybody else, it's like
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: your boys are checking in, like hey, what are you hearing?
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Because you know you're on the bubble and everybody's rooting
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: for you.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: So everybody back home when you're like, oh, I'm getting cut,
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: you just feel like you're letting everybody down and like
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: fuck man, like they all believe that could do it.
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: I believe that could do it. And you don't get
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: to play. You don't get to like you know, you
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: don't get to go out on Sundays if you come
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: back on practice squad. You don't play on the weekends,
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: or you don't participate in traveling. Now you do, but
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: back then you didn't get to and that was like
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: the that was the shitty. That was one of the
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: shittiest moments. So getting cut shit moment. It sucks. Get cut,
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: Te's and piece of the boys going through today. It's
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: you never know, you don't know what to tell a guy.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: You don't know if a guy like he did perform
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: bad and he did get cut. But one moment you're
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: there right next to somebody, and the next moment you're gone,
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: and it's such like you don't know, you you'll probably
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: never see him again. There's so many guys that got cut.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: And even when I'd get cut and like when I
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: got cut from the Saints, there's just guys you'll literally
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: probably never see again that you put sweat equity into
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: to make a roster, to make a difference to guys
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: who celebrating preseason and everybody's like, let's say it for
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: the game, Like what are these guys celebrating to win for?
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: And say, yo, these guys fucking put everything into trying
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: to show out and have some success on the field,
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: only to taste it a little bit celebrate and then
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: those guys still might get cut. So getting cut sucks.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: That is the shittiest moment. Brought to us by dude.
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: Wife's Yeah, you just it's tough man and a guy
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: who might deserve to be on the roster, but it
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: is a numbers game and it's like, oh, he's getting cut,
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: and you know he should be on the squad, but
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: unfortunately you need to carry an extra receiver, an extra
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: dB that kind of trims down that list for him.
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: You're just like, man, he deserves it over that guy
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: who just got on the team, and it sucks.
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: Dude.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: You tap them up, you hug him.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: You're just say, man, you just hope they keep going
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: because you're like, hey, you're still in a good spot.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: I know it doesn't seem that way because everybody wants
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: to fame. Everybody wants to be on that opening day roster.
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: Then when you're on the opening day roster, everybody wants
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: to be a starter on offense or defense. Then not
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: you want to be a big role on special team.
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: So you feel somewhat secure that you might not get cut.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: But man, it's tough sled when those cuts happen, and
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: it's just like a tough part of the business. But
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: that's the shittiest moment by dude wipes. Let's get into
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: this episode with Josh McDaniels Man Episode two hundred whatever,

- 1:18:35Speaker 10: of the Las Vegas Raiders, and he goes, so you
- 1:18:38Speaker 10: were big Ziggler was your high school guidance counselor.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: And I was like yeah, And he's like, you must
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: have been fucked up. Yes, I was, that's right. But
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: you were asking his age.
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: I don't know what his age was when he first
- 1:18:48Speaker 10: was a high school guidance counselor.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he know, he was the he was roomed with them.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I roomed with them in college.
- 1:18:54Speaker 10: He was doing tight end and uh special teams, and
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: he was one of those dudes where was like lip
- 1:19:00Speaker 10: been yelling.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: He was a yeller man. He got after it.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:03Speaker 7: We uh, we lived a little bit of a different
- 1:19:06Speaker 7: lifestyle in college and I did.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:08Speaker 7: I was a little bit more straight laced and he
- 1:19:10Speaker 7: was not that he was. It was we've been. We've
- 1:19:14Speaker 7: been kind of like peas and carrots since I met him.
- 1:19:17Speaker 7: He actually hosted him on his recruiting visit when he
- 1:19:21Speaker 7: came to to care because I was one year older
- 1:19:23Speaker 7: than him, and I could tell right away, I'm like
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: this guy he was looking for he was looking for
- 1:19:28Speaker 7: some fun. What was what was your recruiting went to
- 1:19:31Speaker 7: the horse track?
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: I think we did. I don't know if that's the w.
- 1:19:37Speaker 10: Yeah, But then I also I feel like everything is
- 1:19:40Speaker 10: legal now do whatever you want.
- 1:19:41Speaker 7: We had, uh, we kind of hit it off and
- 1:19:43Speaker 7: then we ended up playing. The two of us end
- 1:19:46Speaker 7: up playing the like we did line changes at receiver.
- 1:19:49Speaker 7: He and I were always in the game together and
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: he was he was exactly as you would imagine, you know,
- 1:19:54Speaker 7: hand under the face mask. And I was trying to
- 1:19:56Speaker 7: create some kind of man, yes, yeah, type of guy.
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: You want that fun. I've never been around him and
- 1:20:02Speaker 7: not had fun.
- 1:20:03Speaker 10: He was a guy too that like you got him
- 1:20:06Speaker 10: a job. Essentially, that's how he got out of being
- 1:20:08Speaker 10: being guidance conslor correct.
- 1:20:09Speaker 7: I mean he we had kind of obviously stayed in
- 1:20:12Speaker 7: touch because we were good friends, and then you know,
- 1:20:15Speaker 7: he had done a number of things since we graduated.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: And then when I got out.
- 1:20:20Speaker 7: There to Denver, we you know, kind of had a
- 1:20:22Speaker 7: connection and I just said, are you happy doing what
- 1:20:24Speaker 7: you're doing? Are you interested in getting in football because
- 1:20:26Speaker 7: we were looking for some younger like guys to make
- 1:20:29Speaker 7: their way in the scouting side, and he expressed interest,
- 1:20:32Speaker 7: came out and he's done everything on his own since then.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: But uh, yeah, we we we.
- 1:20:38Speaker 7: Stayed in touch and that was out of the door,
- 1:20:39Speaker 7: open business about relationships.
- 1:20:41Speaker 9: Yeah, so he must not have been he must not
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: have been happy being your guidance counsel.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: No, he was not.
- 1:20:45Speaker 10: I don't think he was at that point. He might
- 1:20:47Speaker 10: have been doing something a little bit different.
- 1:20:49Speaker 7: Well, he talks about law and order. He did like
- 1:20:51Speaker 7: a cameo on law and order. He was guid and
- 1:20:53Speaker 7: did he really I did not know that he got
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: to find that man about that, I think in his
- 1:20:58Speaker 7: introductory press conference.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: So he's He's done a lot of things.
- 1:21:01Speaker 10: Dude, truly is incredible. He's like the reason why I
- 1:21:04Speaker 10: was even eligible for college. Yeah, we talked about that
- 1:21:06Speaker 10: on the show with him, man like he literally out
- 1:21:08Speaker 10: a one point six GPA, like I failed everything.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and then.
- 1:21:12Speaker 7: He you know, he he he talks about his experience
- 1:21:16Speaker 7: with that a lot, you know. And obviously we we
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: have a you know, ninety man roster now, and everybody
- 1:21:22Speaker 7: comes from different backgrounds and.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: All the rest of it.
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: So his his, I would say, his expertise in that
- 1:21:28Speaker 7: area has definitely come into play.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: He talks about it often.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: And you know, when we have guys coming from you know,
- 1:21:35Speaker 7: different places, you know, we have to treat him different,
- 1:21:37Speaker 7: you know what I mean, and handled hand handled different
- 1:21:39Speaker 7: guys differently.
- 1:21:40Speaker 10: He seems like a guy's guy for sure. Being in
- 1:21:42Speaker 10: the situation you are now like ninety man roster in
- 1:21:44Speaker 10: a couple of weeks, aren't have to make some some
- 1:21:46Speaker 10: big time cut. You're never cut a lot of fat
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: off the bone? Yeah, So like, how what does that
- 1:21:50Speaker 10: process cut me?
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Right now? Yeah?
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: It's uh, you know, i I've actually kind of in
- 1:21:56Speaker 7: my head, softened it a little bit in terms of
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: the because of the seven team an practice squad, yeah,
- 1:22:02Speaker 7: or sixteen plus you know we have an international player.
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: It doesn't feel like you're losing half your team, you know.
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: I mean, you're gonna end up eventually cutting let's call
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: it twenty you know, from the ninety. But it doesn't
- 1:22:16Speaker 7: make it any easier those days. Think, you know what
- 1:22:18Speaker 7: I mean. If you're a human being and you have
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: a heart at all, which Dave and I do, it's
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: just difficult to you know, you work all year with
- 1:22:25Speaker 7: these guys all training camp, they pour it out on
- 1:22:27Speaker 7: the field and give you everything they got.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Then you know it's not quite good enough.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: So those are tough days, especially for the guys who
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: got to be like the fringe guys, right, and then
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: it does just become a numbers game where it's like
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: you you can be on this.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Squad, yeah, but we just have to go yeah, I mean.
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: And the goal for every coach and general manager I'm
- 1:22:46Speaker 7: assuming is, you know, to create as much competition at
- 1:22:49Speaker 7: every spot that you can, so you want those decisions
- 1:22:51Speaker 7: to be difficult. They're not difficult, and your team's not
- 1:22:54Speaker 7: very good. You know what I mean. So, you know,
- 1:22:57Speaker 7: I hope we have a lot of difficult decisions. There's
- 1:22:59Speaker 7: a lot of competition on our team right now, and
- 1:23:02Speaker 7: you know, when those days come, that'll, like I said,
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: it won't be fun.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: You coach Rabe. I didn't.
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: I was on the defensive side for three years, and
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: I didn't coach Mike specifically, but I was there when
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: I think I picked him up at the airport, you know,
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: because I was like that guy on the totem pole
- 1:23:20Speaker 7: back then. Yeah, and and then kind of working my
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: way through the defensive staff. But I was around him
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: for those three years and one, two and three and
- 1:23:29Speaker 7: got to be around the you know, the anomaly that
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: is Mike Rabel. So he's uh was on the fringe.
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: He on the fringe of the roster. No, not when
- 1:23:37Speaker 7: I was there. Not when I was there, he you were, no,
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: but he was that guy who was you know, he
- 1:23:44Speaker 7: was he always You were much happier that he was
- 1:23:47Speaker 7: on your team, you know, than not on your team
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: because he wasn't.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: He thought he was just the biggest asshole ever, you
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: know what I mean. But he was our asshole. You
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: was your coach. You sometimes feels like he might be
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: the biggest asshole ever. I'm sure that that could be
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: the case.
- 1:24:00Speaker 10: The first year of twenty eighteen, his first year with
- 1:24:02Speaker 10: the Titans, it was like, who the fuck is this?
- 1:24:04Speaker 10: Why is he treating everybody like this? Yeah, but he's
- 1:24:07Speaker 10: done a.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: Lot of growing. Yeah.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: Years later, we had him on recently and we got
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: the you could just tell how nervous we were.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: He kind of suck one of.
- 1:24:14Speaker 10: Us on the team anymore, and you would think, Okay,
- 1:24:16Speaker 10: now we can separate and move on.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: But no, head coach five, Yeah, I would.
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: I think he could cut you right now and you're like,
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: you know what, You're off the podcast?
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: How that happened?
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: Dude.
- 1:24:26Speaker 7: He's never going to lose that though, because you know,
- 1:24:28Speaker 7: he had he had such a good career as a player.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: He carries that, he'll.
- 1:24:31Speaker 7: Carries that kind He had that kind of confidence as
- 1:24:33Speaker 7: a player, you know. I mean there's nobody that he
- 1:24:36Speaker 7: pissed off more than Brady, you know, because he would
- 1:24:38Speaker 7: play scout team all the time, and so like he
- 1:24:41Speaker 7: would do with our defensive reps, and then what he
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: would do is whoever was playing like safety, you know,
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: on the scout team, he would go in the huddle
- 1:24:48Speaker 7: and go get out of here, and he would throw
- 1:24:50Speaker 7: the guy out of the huddle, and then he would
- 1:24:51Speaker 7: play safety, and of course he would never do what
- 1:24:54Speaker 7: the cards said to do, which pissed Brady off to.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: No end, you know what I mean.
- 1:24:58Speaker 7: It's like, well that he's not going to do that, Mike,
- 1:25:00Speaker 7: and then he would go you know, like those two
- 1:25:05Speaker 7: had legendary battles going back and forth and all the
- 1:25:08Speaker 7: rest of it. But Mike was Mike was always the agitator,
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: you know what I mean. That was part of his stick.
- 1:25:12Speaker 10: Billy b was okay with him going in and fucking
- 1:25:15Speaker 10: up a scout rep.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Oh he didn't he he didn't really know. He didn't care.
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: Again, he just you know, his thing was always like,
- 1:25:21Speaker 7: well you got to read it out, you know what
- 1:25:22Speaker 7: I mean, if the safety is not where he's supposed
- 1:25:24Speaker 7: to be, and then somewhere else, you know what I mean.
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: So yeah, it was kind of a he he didn't
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: really mind that.
- 1:25:29Speaker 10: Now you seem like a like the Patriot It sounds
- 1:25:32Speaker 10: like so contradictory to what you hear his players. You
- 1:25:34Speaker 10: just hear like the Patriot way, the Patriot way. It's
- 1:25:36Speaker 10: like the hardest practices two a days are just they
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: wish they could have him back. So back to so
- 1:25:41Speaker 10: to hear that Mike was, oh yeah, just fucking around
- 1:25:44Speaker 10: a little bit, yep, and mess with it. Seems like
- 1:25:46Speaker 10: very out of Bill Belichick.
- 1:25:48Speaker 7: But Mike, but but but when Mike was out there
- 1:25:50Speaker 7: doing his thing, it was always the way you would
- 1:25:52Speaker 7: want it to be, you know what I mean. And
- 1:25:55Speaker 7: so you know, he we it was both ways. You know,
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: certain guys got a little bit more leeway yeah, yea
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: than others as it always is. Yeah, No, those were
- 1:26:04Speaker 7: the guys we had back then. It was such an
- 1:26:07Speaker 7: old school team, you know, Bruce K. Harrison, Rabel, ty
- 1:26:11Speaker 7: Law McGuinness, like they just kind of, you know, they
- 1:26:15Speaker 7: kind of like handle their own locker room, you know
- 1:26:17Speaker 7: what I mean. Like it was just the way it was,
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: and went out to practice and they kind of held
- 1:26:21Speaker 7: the standard.
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: There's a legendary tale of Mike Rabel saying that he
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: would cut his peace off to win a Super Bowl,
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: so that in twenty nineteen something like that, they went
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: to the championship and then he said, no, I actually
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: won't to do it, and then they you guys lost.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: We lost to the kids. If he would have just
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: held on to it said he would actually not cut.
- 1:26:38Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:26:39Speaker 10: Yeah, I guess what the segue is here is what
- 1:26:41Speaker 10: are you willing to do to win a Super Bowl?
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I want to work hard.
- 1:26:46Speaker 7: I might give a finger or something like that. I'm
- 1:26:48Speaker 7: not not doing that. That's not happening for you.
- 1:26:51Speaker 8: No.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: What now?
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: Now being with the Raiders, what do you feel like
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: you've learned since your first stin with Denver as a
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: head coach and now getting another opportunity with the by you.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Kind of do it your own way.
- 1:27:02Speaker 7: And I think when I left the first time, you know,
- 1:27:05Speaker 7: there was such a I didn't have a lot of
- 1:27:07Speaker 7: wisdom about how to do it other than what I
- 1:27:10Speaker 7: had seen.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: And what I had seen was great.
- 1:27:12Speaker 7: But you just can't go somewhere and just replicate that immediately.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: That's impossible, you know what I mean?
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: And I was trying to do things that I had witnessed,
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: but it just really that doesn't necessarily fit, especially when
- 1:27:24Speaker 7: you're thirty two, you know. So I made a lot
- 1:27:26Speaker 7: of mistakes myself and really hadn't. The time that was
- 1:27:30Speaker 7: really important for me was when I was done in
- 1:27:33Speaker 7: Denver in ten and then taken you know the number
- 1:27:37Speaker 7: of years that I did to kind of go back
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: through and say, Okay, you know, this is how I
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: handled that, this is what I would do now, and
- 1:27:46Speaker 7: just really kind of look at it and say, Okay,
- 1:27:48Speaker 7: I know what I have to do the next time,
- 1:27:50Speaker 7: if I ever get one, if I'm blessed to have
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: a shot at it, and it just got to be authentic,
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: and it's got to be you. And I have a
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: different personality than Bill and you know, than Mike and
- 1:28:01Speaker 7: everybody else, and so you just got to be yourself.
- 1:28:03Speaker 7: And I've learned how to do that more. I'm much
- 1:28:06Speaker 7: more at ease just you know, distributing things to the
- 1:28:09Speaker 7: guys that are around me. Have a great support staff
- 1:28:12Speaker 7: and they handle all their stuff. The coaching staff does
- 1:28:14Speaker 7: a great job, and I try to manage the team
- 1:28:17Speaker 7: from the head coach position through my own spirit and
- 1:28:20Speaker 7: you know how I interact with them every day. So
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: I'm happy with what we're trying to do. I'm at
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: peace with it, and I know it's authentic.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: When when you look back, who are some like some
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: coaches or mentors or people like when you are looking
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: back at the situations by I, you can go this
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: way or guys that you just picked their brain and
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: was kind of like they're with you when you were
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: trying to figure out the next step, when that next
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: opportunity would come.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, there was.
- 1:28:41Speaker 7: A lot of people that, you know, you had an
- 1:28:43Speaker 7: opportunity to kind of like, you know, see as you
- 1:28:46Speaker 7: were going. And I remember Tony Dungee spent a lot
- 1:28:49Speaker 7: of time. I haven't talked to Tony in a while
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: in that regard, but Tony spent a lot of time
- 1:28:54Speaker 7: talking to me, you know when I was in Saint
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: Louis right after the Denver situation, just about you know,
- 1:29:00Speaker 7: looking inside yourself and evaluate everything you did, you know,
- 1:29:04Speaker 7: I mean a z you know what I mean, and
- 1:29:05Speaker 7: try to figure out like is that really what you
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: want to do the next time or not?
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: You know. And there's many.
- 1:29:11Speaker 7: Other people that were that were great during that process,
- 1:29:15Speaker 7: including Bill, you know, because I asked but you know,
- 1:29:17Speaker 7: I asked Bill some things and he understood the scenario.
- 1:29:21Speaker 7: You know, you got to be you and be yourself
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: and do what you believe in, but do it your way.
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll tell you what he brought up. Journalists he
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: brought Yeah, he brought up Tony Dungee he had. He
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: has a phenomenal book. I forget what it's called, but
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: I did read in college, and he had a lot
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: of seems like he'd be a good mentor to sit
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: with and.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Talking about all that kind of stuff. He did a
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: great job of giving me some advice. What happened with
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: the Colts? You're about to go to the Colts?
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: The rumor is, which is obviously people know of the
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: rumors of like, oh, he went back to New England
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: because he's just going to be the coaching waiting when
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: Bill leaves and all that.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Like I like everybody know that that's not That's a.
- 1:29:54Speaker 10: Two part question though, like what happened with the Colts?
- 1:29:56Speaker 10: And were you the coach in waiting?
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: No?
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: Uh, the second part. No, that was never part of
- 1:30:00Speaker 7: any conversation that I was a part of.
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: It just you know, that process, as we all know,
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: is a little bit different. You know, when you're done
- 1:30:09Speaker 7: with the season and then you go into that interview process,
- 1:30:14Speaker 7: and it's so quick, especially when you're still playing, and
- 1:30:18Speaker 7: you don't get as much time to really devote to
- 1:30:20Speaker 7: that whole thing as you really want, you know, And
- 1:30:22Speaker 7: so I interviewed with a few teams.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: That year while we were in the playoffs.
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I think it was during our buye.
- 1:30:28Speaker 7: I think we had to buy and you know, you're
- 1:30:31Speaker 7: you're trying to battle, you know, balance that with you know,
- 1:30:34Speaker 7: getting ready to play a really important, most important game
- 1:30:36Speaker 7: of your season, you know, and ultimately try to compete
- 1:30:40Speaker 7: for a championship, and so, you know, it just I
- 1:30:43Speaker 7: just felt like as I kind of closed the loop
- 1:30:45Speaker 7: there we went to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl, you know,
- 1:30:48Speaker 7: it was still kind of going through that process in
- 1:30:50Speaker 7: my own mind, just at the end of the day,
- 1:30:54Speaker 7: didn't feel like it was the right decision, you know.
- 1:30:56Speaker 7: And I know the timing was awkward, awful, you know,
- 1:31:00Speaker 7: but I didn't want to do that to anybody either.
- 1:31:02Speaker 7: That was something that I regret in that regard. But
- 1:31:05Speaker 7: I didn't feel like just because the timing was bad,
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: I should go ahead and make a bad decision that
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: I thought wasn't good for me or them, you know
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: what I mean. And so, you know, unfortunately it played
- 1:31:16Speaker 7: out the way it did. I think we're probably fortunate,
- 1:31:18Speaker 7: like Frank went there and did a great job obviously,
- 1:31:21Speaker 7: and you know, I stayed where I was and tried
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: to continue growing and overcome that as best I can.
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: It's like you're yeah, it sounds like it's like you're
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: in the interview process. You're excited. Yeah, you're gonna get
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: another opportunity. I'm not saying that there's anything bad that
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: goes on in Indianapolis, but no, you get time to
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: do more due diligence whatever may be, and whatever loosens
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: don't get tied up.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: You're, ah, this kind of sucks. I gotta kind of
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: go back.
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: But it seems like this was the better opportunity to
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: go back to New England.
- 1:31:45Speaker 6: It was.
- 1:31:45Speaker 7: It was the right decision for me. Again, like I said,
- 1:31:47Speaker 7: I don't, I don't. I don't think that it was
- 1:31:50Speaker 7: the easy decision. Yeah, you know, I certainly took my
- 1:31:53Speaker 7: share of flack, deservedly so for the timing of it.
- 1:31:56Speaker 7: And I regret that, you know what I mean, because
- 1:31:58Speaker 7: I have a great deal of respect for Christmaster or say,
- 1:32:00Speaker 7: you know, the people that I met through that process
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: were great to me.
- 1:32:03Speaker 10: So again, that was that was on me. You obviously
- 1:32:07Speaker 10: that happened. And then now you're here the Raiders. What
- 1:32:11Speaker 10: what are you looking at that roster?
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: Brother?
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: You guys are fucking stacked missing one you're missing one piece.
- 1:32:16Speaker 10: You're missing all right, three special teamer.
- 1:32:22Speaker 7: But what do you guys waiting to nowadays? Look at you? Huh,
- 1:32:25Speaker 7: look at you?
- 1:32:25Speaker 10: See the arms coming out as we can do a
- 1:32:28Speaker 10: little work on this room. If you need a question,
- 1:32:30Speaker 10: there's enough room in here too. We'll work in a
- 1:32:32Speaker 10: phone book.
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: The I think Dave's done a good job of really,
- 1:32:36Speaker 7: you know, when you can't when you come to a
- 1:32:38Speaker 7: new place, you're trying to figure out, you know, who's
- 1:32:41Speaker 7: there that fits your vision of how you want to play.
- 1:32:44Speaker 7: That isn't an easy process to go through. And every
- 1:32:47Speaker 7: time there's a change, there's ultimately potential changes that are
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: going to take place on the roster of the staff,
- 1:32:52Speaker 7: et cetera.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Because it's just not the right fit.
- 1:32:55Speaker 7: For how you want how you see defense or offense
- 1:32:57Speaker 7: or special teams. And so so you know, we've we've
- 1:33:00Speaker 7: had an opportunity to do such over eighteen or nineteen
- 1:33:03Speaker 7: months here, We've changed over a decent chunk of the roster,
- 1:33:06Speaker 7: you know, and that happens every team, But I think
- 1:33:10Speaker 7: we've added competition at most of the spots that we
- 1:33:12Speaker 7: wanted to try to do that in and right now.
- 1:33:15Speaker 7: We're having a competitive camp. Today was a competitive practice,
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: you know, and you know we're going to keep trying
- 1:33:21Speaker 7: to push that as much as we can. But I
- 1:33:23Speaker 7: think what we've done is we've added some younger players
- 1:33:25Speaker 7: and some players from outside that we feel like have
- 1:33:28Speaker 7: a chance to fit us really well, and now we're
- 1:33:30Speaker 7: trying to blown them together.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: How awesome is wearing the silver and black awesome? It
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: is the coolest colors. It is. Remember to Vegas time.
- 1:33:39Speaker 7: I saw the uniform last year when we came out
- 1:33:41Speaker 7: for pregium warm ups, you know, in the Hall of
- 1:33:43Speaker 7: Fame game. I'm like, this is that uniform that I've
- 1:33:46Speaker 7: thought about.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: Like for years and years and years.
- 1:33:48Speaker 7: You saw these Hall of Fame players wearn't it, and
- 1:33:50Speaker 7: you're like, this is a bad uniform.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: It really is.
- 1:33:53Speaker 10: I think we did a Tier talk, which is one
- 1:33:55Speaker 10: of our segments on the show, and it was like,
- 1:33:56Speaker 10: that is cool jerseys across the board, the best.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: Uniform it is.
- 1:34:00Speaker 7: Everybody kind of like the silver helmet, the black jerseys.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Just it's just think a little darker visor every now
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: and then.
- 1:34:08Speaker 10: Anything different this year because I know there's.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: A lot of the with the helmets, like our uniform. Yeah, no, nothing.
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: Yeah, ours hasn't changed radically from what it was. I
- 1:34:23Speaker 7: think what we're seeing now is a lot of the
- 1:34:24Speaker 7: teams that have like gone through changes are now like
- 1:34:27Speaker 7: trying to like bring back the retro version of what
- 1:34:29Speaker 7: they're wearing.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: We we have the same one. Yeah.
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: Basically Raiders should ultimately like open up his leaves where
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: like the single bar helmets, just bring bring the tape
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: your fingers.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:42Speaker 7: I saw Fredva Litni Coffe the other day at our
- 1:34:44Speaker 7: our preseason game and we were talking about that because,
- 1:34:47Speaker 7: I mean, back then it was that was he was
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: wearing that stuff, that was it sick and you know,
- 1:34:52Speaker 7: all that stuff was in vogue.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: So we interrupt this episode to talk to you about
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: the Bust and Bowl.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: Nebraska verse Michigan.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: It is a trophy game, and with the trophy game,
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: we needed a scent that embodied the trophy game. We
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: partnered with Duke Cannon on creating a scent that embodies
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: this trophy game the Bust and Bowl, called the Trophy Game.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: It was created with support from the Bust with the
- 1:35:19Speaker 4: Boys team and it's now available in Thick body Wash
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: and The Big Ass Brick of soap. The idea was
- 1:35:25Speaker 4: hashed at the bust And Bowl with the Duke Cannon team,
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: and we wanted to bring a scent that celebrates college
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: football and all of its greatest rivalries your trophy game.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: It has notes of smoked leather and amber and smells
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: like collegiate bragging rights, not your randomly assigned freshman roommate. Thick,
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: high viscosity body wash that is formulated to build to
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: work effectively on your body and not spew down the
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: shower drain. The big ass brick of soap is three
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: times bigger than the common bar soap that you used
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: that needs to be in the trash, and it's triple
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: milled for superior quality and made with natural oils. Find
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: the new Duke cannonscent at Duke Cannon dot Com slash
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: Trophy Game. And again, this soap, this scent was picked
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: by the nostrils in the noses of yours truly, myself
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: and Taylowan, So we can't wait to hear what you
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: guys hear about it. But it is at Duke Cannon
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: dot com slash Trophy Game. Back to the episode What Coach,
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: What Coach on the staff has brings out the comedic
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: relief into Rob Ryan.
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, no doubt.
- 1:36:38Speaker 7: We mike him like religiously when it's like we feel
- 1:36:41Speaker 7: like we were bored, you know what I mean.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: It's like they always kind of like, who do you
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: want to mike?
- 1:36:45Speaker 7: Put it on Rob because he says shit like all
- 1:36:47Speaker 7: the time, whether it's about himself, you know, the defense,
- 1:36:51Speaker 7: you know the period we're going to. He just it's
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: really it's like a running commentary. And then you know,
- 1:36:56Speaker 7: you show snippets of that to the to the fellas
- 1:36:58Speaker 7: and they get a kick out of it.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: What is a go ahead?
- 1:37:02Speaker 10: I was gonna say, let's talk about joint practices for
- 1:37:04Speaker 10: a second. We're obviously not in Las Vegas right now. Yep,
- 1:37:07Speaker 10: you feel very strong with the joint practices are the
- 1:37:08Speaker 10: thing to do in camp.
- 1:37:10Speaker 7: I think that depends on who you're talking about. Like,
- 1:37:13Speaker 7: to me, we look at it. If the team that
- 1:37:16Speaker 7: we could do it with, that the schedule comes out
- 1:37:18Speaker 7: that we have to play in the preseason makes sense
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: for us to do it against, then we go ahead
- 1:37:23Speaker 7: and do it for us. The two teams that you
- 1:37:26Speaker 7: know we've chosen to do it with this year made
- 1:37:29Speaker 7: a lot of sense for ourselves. You know, we play
- 1:37:32Speaker 7: teams that definitely feature this style of defense that LA
- 1:37:36Speaker 7: uses right now, Stay and the Chargers. You know, there's
- 1:37:40Speaker 7: some other people that we're going to play this year
- 1:37:42Speaker 7: that have the same kind of defense. We don't see
- 1:37:44Speaker 7: that defense in training camp from our own team, So
- 1:37:47Speaker 7: it just if it didn't fit structurally like that, I'm
- 1:37:50Speaker 7: not sure that we would want to do it. But
- 1:37:52Speaker 7: I felt like the competition against San Francisco, the style
- 1:37:55Speaker 7: that they play, I thought that was really quality work
- 1:37:58Speaker 7: for us to kind of get going in the preseason
- 1:38:01Speaker 7: and then to have the opportunity to do that with
- 1:38:03Speaker 7: with Sean and La it makes a lot of sense
- 1:38:06Speaker 7: for us, just for a multitude of reasons, you know.
- 1:38:09Speaker 7: And they're obviously a well coached, first class organization. So
- 1:38:12Speaker 7: this is a good day, you know, not always good
- 1:38:15Speaker 7: for us on the field, but it was a good day.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: It's a blood bath, it's a there's you always get
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: the attention the rise.
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: I'm sure with coaches too, but it's like you just
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: feel that we're about to joint practice, like is there
- 1:38:25Speaker 4: a fight gonna break out?
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:38:27Speaker 10: I feel like coach is always like the general like
- 1:38:29Speaker 10: watching the war go down. They feel good about their strategy.
- 1:38:31Speaker 10: Hopefully their men just produce.
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: Yeah, you're always fight, but you also muster up enough
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: to be like, don't get fucking bullied.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: You got to go to the line. You gotta go
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: to the line.
- 1:38:41Speaker 7: The line you're as kicked and everybody's pissed about it.
- 1:38:45Speaker 7: And then if you go over the line, then you're
- 1:38:47Speaker 7: pissed about it because that's not while we're here. So
- 1:38:50Speaker 7: we we I mean we, I don't know. We were
- 1:38:53Speaker 7: staying behind the line a little bit, maybe at the
- 1:38:55Speaker 7: beginning of the day. Then we got up to the
- 1:38:56Speaker 7: line and then it kind of we crossed it a
- 1:38:58Speaker 7: little bit, and then we got it back behind the line.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: So are you just is it kind of like a
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: you go up in my maybe like nudge Max, like
- 1:39:04Speaker 4: get over the line.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: A little bit. No, I don't have to nudge Max
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: at all.
- 1:39:07Speaker 7: I have to if I have to do anything, I
- 1:39:08Speaker 7: have to pull Max behind the line again. So he
- 1:39:11Speaker 7: kind of starts practice over the line and then you
- 1:39:12Speaker 7: just kind of try to see if you can rear
- 1:39:14Speaker 7: him in.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been hearing that he's like an assassin out there.
- 1:39:17Speaker 9: I'm tight with the Mirrorbduela, and he's like, Bro, Max
- 1:39:19Speaker 9: is like the hardest worker I've ever been around.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: You talk about Max a little bit. Yeah, he's rare.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: You know. This is twenty three years for me.
- 1:39:27Speaker 7: So I've had a handful of guys that are like this,
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: but not many, you know, where it's just every single
- 1:39:33Speaker 7: day he can muster up the urgency, the energy, the desire,
- 1:39:39Speaker 7: the effort, the competitive nature, just every single rep, every
- 1:39:44Speaker 7: single day, Like you never have to worry if his
- 1:39:46Speaker 7: car's are in a parking lot at five point thirty
- 1:39:48Speaker 7: because it's already there in the morning. And he does
- 1:39:50Speaker 7: everything possible to help himself be the best player he
- 1:39:54Speaker 7: can be help our team. And he's also learning I
- 1:39:57Speaker 7: think this is really a cool phase for him. He's
- 1:39:59Speaker 7: learning how to also transfer that to others, you know.
- 1:40:03Speaker 7: And it's one thing to be able to do it
- 1:40:05Speaker 7: on your own, it's another thing to try to infect
- 1:40:07Speaker 7: the rest of your teammates with it and then get
- 1:40:09Speaker 7: as many of those guys to do that as as
- 1:40:12Speaker 7: you can. So we're we're seeing that right in front
- 1:40:15Speaker 7: of our eyes. He's developing into that kind of a leader,
- 1:40:17Speaker 7: and he's he's an incredible person.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: And he's a really good football player. He's definitely a
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: guy you want your tea every single day.
- 1:40:26Speaker 7: Yeah, everything, you don't again, you don't ever have to
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: worry about his level, you.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: Know what I mean.
- 1:40:31Speaker 7: And really what he's trying to do is get everybody
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: to try to play up to that every day. And
- 1:40:35Speaker 7: that's only a good thing. Yeah, I know. And he
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: was kind of scrawny when he came out, and you know,
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: and he just again he's just the toughness.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: It's hard to measure toughness.
- 1:40:48Speaker 7: You know, you got the combine and you can say
- 1:40:50Speaker 7: his height and his weight and it's forty and all that.
- 1:40:52Speaker 7: But relative to his effort is toughness, his motor, his
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: love for football and all that. I mean, it's impossible
- 1:40:58Speaker 7: to measure all that. What about playing sound defense? Does
- 1:41:01Speaker 7: he play a lot of that? He does now? But
- 1:41:04Speaker 7: you know, that's a great question because you know, when
- 1:41:07Speaker 7: you have a guy, when you have a guy like that,
- 1:41:11Speaker 7: you build your defense around people like that. And so
- 1:41:16Speaker 7: to try to take him and say, hey, just do
- 1:41:19Speaker 7: this and don't be as good as you could be
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: because it fits something on the whiteboard, I don't really
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: know what, you know, what's the point of that. Yeah,
- 1:41:27Speaker 7: when you have a guy like it's like saying, hey,
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: Randy Moss, here's what I want you to do. You'll
- 1:41:32Speaker 7: run some curls and some short routes because that's what
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: we do well. When you have Randy, you you go
- 1:41:39Speaker 7: deep and you draw different routes that are different for him,
- 1:41:41Speaker 7: and then you build the rest of the offense around him.
- 1:41:44Speaker 7: I'd say the same thing about Max with defenses. Okay,
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: in order for him to be as great as he
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: can be, which would help our team, then we got
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: to build the rest of it around him. So hey,
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: if we want to give him a little freedom to
- 1:41:56Speaker 7: go inside or outside, that's fine as long as the
- 1:41:59Speaker 7: rest of them know about it. And that's what we're
- 1:42:01Speaker 7: trying to do. As we go into our second year here,
- 1:42:03Speaker 7: we know him a lot more. Now, we know who
- 1:42:06Speaker 7: we have around him. Build it around that, and just
- 1:42:10Speaker 7: you know, we'll see how it all turns out.
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: Mad Max, don't hear this and think you can just
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: go fucking run. That's exactly what he does.
- 1:42:15Speaker 7: Though, No, no, no, he we we've built it such that
- 1:42:18Speaker 7: he has some freedom, which he should, Like I said,
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: if he doesn't have freedom, I'm I'm caging an animal
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: that doesn't need to be caged, you know what I mean,
- 1:42:24Speaker 7: And just let him.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: Let's let him go ahead and do his thing.
- 1:42:27Speaker 7: Sometimes he has to be disciplined in that regard and
- 1:42:30Speaker 7: other times he can do himself.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: Imagine being Max watching this right now. That's that then.
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: Max.
- 1:42:39Speaker 10: Is guy that he reminds me of the way you
- 1:42:43Speaker 10: talk about is JJ Watt, because JJ was a dude
- 1:42:45Speaker 10: that same thing ever played sound defense. If you were
- 1:42:47Speaker 10: to put up a chart and be like, you have
- 1:42:48Speaker 10: the C gap in the situation, he's not going to be.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: A couple of times.
- 1:42:52Speaker 10: That's why you'd also see you have like fifty TFLs
- 1:42:57Speaker 10: like the Patriots who played super sound break that sixty
- 1:43:00Speaker 10: yard touchdown because he would take the B gap when
- 1:43:02Speaker 10: he should at the sea gap.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: That linebacker it wasn't covering that.
- 1:43:06Speaker 7: And I think again, as long as he's doing it
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: within the scope of the defense, again, that's the responsibility
- 1:43:12Speaker 7: of the staff around him and all the rest of it.
- 1:43:14Speaker 7: But like, there wasn't there wasn't too many guys that
- 1:43:17Speaker 7: I disliked playing more against than JJ Watt, no question,
- 1:43:21Speaker 7: you know what I mean. Because it's like, yeah, he
- 1:43:23Speaker 7: might not have been doing what he was supposed to do,
- 1:43:25Speaker 7: but he was still a pain in the ass. The
- 1:43:27Speaker 7: same thing with Aaron Donald. It's like, you know, I
- 1:43:29Speaker 7: think they're both disciplined, you know enough, and then they're
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: so talented that they just you know, they want to
- 1:43:35Speaker 7: go behind the block and make the tackle.
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: They want to go ahead and rip through it.
- 1:43:38Speaker 7: They want to go ahead and call the game on
- 1:43:40Speaker 7: second down when it wasn't called in the you know
- 1:43:42Speaker 7: what I mean, Like, they just do things and they
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: have a different ability to do it.
- 1:43:47Speaker 10: Did you have anything I was going to add to that,
- 1:43:50Speaker 10: Like predictability in an offense looking at a defense is
- 1:43:55Speaker 10: what it's predictable. It's the grazing in the world. When
- 1:43:56Speaker 10: you have a guy that's going to play the sea
- 1:43:58Speaker 10: gap the whole time. You can run fit him except
- 1:43:59Speaker 10: how you want. You can do play actions exactly how
- 1:44:01Speaker 10: you want to. There's not a better feeling in the world, agreed.
- 1:44:04Speaker 10: When you get guys like Max, guys like TJ, guys
- 1:44:07Speaker 10: like JJ Aaron Donald, there is a level of anxiety
- 1:44:10Speaker 10: that goes through your body.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: As an offensive line. I'm sure we were like, fuck man,
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: these guys, I can't run off the ball the way
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: I want to. I can't you.
- 1:44:17Speaker 7: Play you play you play less, you play less, you're
- 1:44:19Speaker 7: a little hesitant, you're at a level of.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: Chest, you know.
- 1:44:22Speaker 10: I have to get into other than just hey, we
- 1:44:23Speaker 10: don't want to do whoever's better, he's gonna win.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:44:26Speaker 10: It's like what fastballs he throwing? Do I need to
- 1:44:28Speaker 10: do something different this time? And you get in this
- 1:44:31Speaker 10: like dance with this individual.
- 1:44:33Speaker 7: Where the scheming part of it, once you get to
- 1:44:35Speaker 7: the regular season, I would say, has some element of
- 1:44:38Speaker 7: factors into the equation, you know, because like with JJ,
- 1:44:42Speaker 7: I used to hate running away from JJ because you
- 1:44:44Speaker 7: run away from him, he didn't matter if he cut
- 1:44:46Speaker 7: the if he beat the tackle across his face, or
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: went behind the tackle and then ran it down from behind.
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: It just was it was an impossibility to get him blocked.
- 1:44:56Speaker 7: And so then schematically you go at him and it's like,
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: so all my all our runs this week in this
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: category are all right, We're not going left on those
- 1:45:04Speaker 7: because we can't. We can't make them work, you know
- 1:45:06Speaker 7: what I mean. So I think that that's where the
- 1:45:08Speaker 7: coach has to help sometimes in terms of how do
- 1:45:11Speaker 7: we avoid this being a big problem. I mean, we
- 1:45:13Speaker 7: deal with it every day in practice, you know, so
- 1:45:15Speaker 7: pain in the ass. Like Patrick, which plays is max
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: in for okay one through six. All right, so we
- 1:45:21Speaker 7: got a screen, we have a draw, you know what
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: I mean. It's like we can't just hey, run inside
- 1:45:26Speaker 7: zone at him and go why didn't it work.
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: Enough to make it? It's not good, it's not a
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: good look. I don't like to do that a lot
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: in training camp. But for those guys.
- 1:45:38Speaker 7: Richard Seymour was another guy that when we practice against him,
- 1:45:41Speaker 7: was like, if you don't take that into account, your
- 1:45:44Speaker 7: practice is going to be a mess.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: And so you actually are quote unquote.
- 1:45:47Speaker 7: Game planning your own practice against your own defense, which
- 1:45:50Speaker 7: you don't really love to do. You just want to
- 1:45:52Speaker 7: test your rules and shit like that. But these guys
- 1:45:55Speaker 7: require you to do such. So it's a good problem.
- 1:45:57Speaker 7: It's a great problem if you're the coach.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: Yeah, the guy on the other side too, Chandler Jones.
- 1:46:01Speaker 10: Yeah, we're on the street as my man's looking looking lean,
- 1:46:04Speaker 10: looking ready, looking speedy.
- 1:46:05Speaker 7: Yeah, and we just got Tyree out there too today,
- 1:46:08Speaker 7: so he's we're trying to add that depth there. You know,
- 1:46:10Speaker 7: Chan has been such a great leader for us, and
- 1:46:13Speaker 7: you know, it was really productive in a running game
- 1:46:15Speaker 7: last year and did a good job, you know, with
- 1:46:17Speaker 7: with what we did. And we're trying to look for
- 1:46:19Speaker 7: all those guys to kind of help us do a
- 1:46:22Speaker 7: little bit more in the pass Rush and I'm excited
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: about the group right now as it stands.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: We interrupt this episode to bring you Peloton Listen.

- 1:47:49Speaker 4: yet ninety nine cents per month. Back to the episode
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: you brought up Randy Moss earlier, when you're coaching somebody
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: like Randy, is it like kind of like you have
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: like a cheet code going on during that year?
- 1:48:00Speaker 7: I mean, it's Rob Gronkowski Moss. You know some of
- 1:48:05Speaker 7: these guys that you you know, it just it's tough
- 1:48:08Speaker 7: to DeVante today. You know, it's tough to cover them
- 1:48:13Speaker 7: with a single player, you know. And so the one
- 1:48:16Speaker 7: thing you learn over time is, you know, Okay, if
- 1:48:19Speaker 7: they take him away, what do you need to do
- 1:48:21Speaker 7: to still be productive without taking him out of the
- 1:48:24Speaker 7: game yourself. Yeah, you know what I mean, because yeah,
- 1:48:26Speaker 7: they can play Cover two and roll to him.
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: Well, you got it.
- 1:48:29Speaker 7: You can't just say, all right, well, Randy's not going
- 1:48:31Speaker 7: to catch any passes today. You still have to work
- 1:48:33Speaker 7: to try to figure out how to do that, you know,
- 1:48:35Speaker 7: when they're trying to take it away. So there's a
- 1:48:38Speaker 7: little bit of a chess match involved with that. But
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: if they give you single coverage against some of those guys,
- 1:48:44Speaker 7: it doesn't have to be real hard. With the quarterback,
- 1:48:47Speaker 7: it's like, look, if they roll to the middle of
- 1:48:48Speaker 7: the field and that guy's over there one on one,
- 1:48:51Speaker 7: you know, like, I don't really care what the rest
- 1:48:53Speaker 7: of the play is, like the ball should go over there.
- 1:48:56Speaker 7: And so there's only a few guys that you can
- 1:48:58Speaker 7: say that about. But when you have one of them,
- 1:49:01Speaker 7: it's it feels good.
- 1:49:02Speaker 10: It's such a complex game, simplifying it that way helps
- 1:49:05Speaker 10: so much more.
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: Yeah, the quarterback's got so many things going on his
- 1:49:08Speaker 7: head and protections and where's the front who's blitz and
- 1:49:10Speaker 7: all the rest of his stuff, and he sees this
- 1:49:12Speaker 7: guy go to the middle and he's like, great, it's
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: on this one on one.
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: That's what you try to do. How fun was it
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: coaching Gronk? Awesome?
- 1:49:21Speaker 7: He was you know, tough, physical practice, really hard, smart.
- 1:49:29Speaker 7: You could do so many different things with him. He
- 1:49:32Speaker 7: worked hard in practice every day. He tried to get
- 1:49:34Speaker 7: better at the little things he blocked, you know what
- 1:49:37Speaker 7: I mean, Like he's the first guy out there and
- 1:49:39Speaker 7: it's nine on seven, and like you know, he yeah,
- 1:49:41Speaker 7: he's like, hey, bring it behind me, you know what
- 1:49:44Speaker 7: I mean. Like, you know, there's not a lot of
- 1:49:45Speaker 7: tight ends that are doing that, you know what I mean.
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: So he was a complete tight end. And those guys
- 1:49:50Speaker 7: are as you guys know, they're less and less. It's
- 1:49:54Speaker 7: hard to find them, you know what I mean, where
- 1:49:56Speaker 7: you know they can factor in the running game, factor
- 1:49:58Speaker 7: in the passing game, factor on third down, factor in
- 1:50:01Speaker 7: the red zone. And this guy not only was he
- 1:50:04Speaker 7: all that, but he was also great fun to be around,
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: and it was you know, it was really fun to coach.
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: Huh.
- 1:50:10Speaker 7: He was an elite bro. There's no question he was
- 1:50:13Speaker 7: an elite bro walking.
- 1:50:14Speaker 10: You're right, Like, there's not a whole lot of tight
- 1:50:15Speaker 10: ends that do that very much. No, which I feel
- 1:50:17Speaker 10: like there's two the top two tight ends are Kelsey
- 1:50:20Speaker 10: and Kittle, Right, And we're kind of talking about if
- 1:50:22Speaker 10: you're building a team, Yeah, who.
- 1:50:24Speaker 7: You want either one of them, they're different. Answer, that's right,
- 1:50:28Speaker 7: because I know I run the battle. Yeah I do,
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: but I always I don't want to get Kelsey.
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: No, I mean they're both. They're both.
- 1:50:35Speaker 7: It's almost impossible to I mean, we double teamed Kelsey
- 1:50:39Speaker 7: the entire game last year and he had four touchdowns.
- 1:50:41Speaker 10: Yeah, wasn't He had like twenty four yards.
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: They said, hey, we're not going to let him touch
- 1:50:48Speaker 7: the ball, and then he found a way to touch
- 1:50:49Speaker 7: it anyway in the most critical play of the game
- 1:50:51Speaker 7: in the red zone, you know, which was you know,
- 1:50:54Speaker 7: it was disappointing, but it was also it was a
- 1:50:57Speaker 7: there's a great player being a great player. You know,
- 1:50:59Speaker 7: we took him away for I mean fifty nine minutes
- 1:51:02Speaker 7: of the game. He didn't do a whole lot, but
- 1:51:05Speaker 7: there it is down there in the score.
- 1:51:06Speaker 4: That last year, Like you brought up the fifty nine
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: minutes of the game, like it felt like the boys
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: always played solid until that fourth quarter, until later in
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: the game, and just so player to the matter.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we we have to we have to get better
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: at that.
- 1:51:18Speaker 7: That's not just a that's a that's everybody you know,
- 1:51:21Speaker 7: coaching playing situational awareness. We had leads and we got
- 1:51:26Speaker 7: to learn how to close, you know what I mean.
- 1:51:27Speaker 7: It's like being ahead in a boxing match and instead
- 1:51:30Speaker 7: of being content and saying, hey, let's just win it
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: on points, you know what I mean, let's go knock.
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: The guy out, you know.
- 1:51:35Speaker 7: And so, you know, if we get in that situation
- 1:51:37Speaker 7: again this year, hopefully we'll have a better idea of
- 1:51:40Speaker 7: what we need to do to keep playing the way
- 1:51:42Speaker 7: we're playing, because that's how we got the lead, and
- 1:51:44Speaker 7: so we just didn't. We didn't quite establish that last year,
- 1:51:47Speaker 7: and that's that's my fault. So we have to do
- 1:51:49Speaker 7: a better job, no doubt about it.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: Last one favorite movie, favorite movie?
- 1:51:55Speaker 7: Oh boy, I like there it is.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: It's like, okay, give one more coach favorite movie heat.
- 1:52:03Speaker 7: Uh with Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, h Tombstone like
- 1:52:10Speaker 7: Tombstone a movie?
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: Uh and a few good men. That's a fucking is
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: Do you ever pull the Tombstone?
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: I know, do you ever pulled the Tombstone clip where
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: he talks about like bitch slapping the dude in the
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: bar like as like a motivating inspired haven't done it?
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good idea. I love that. But hey,
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: whoever the video gets the video. Guys man that there.
- 1:52:35Speaker 6: That's awesome.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: We really appreciate you coming on together. You guys show.
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: Thank you, appreciate appreciate it. That was awesome.
