- 0:37you sorted. Now let's dive into today's
- 0:39episode because today's episode I have been trying to stay out
- 0:43of this topic, but I think it's not going away anytime soon.
- 0:48And the topic I am going to be talking about is the passing of
- 0:52Nigerian singer rapper Mobad. It's been controversial since.
- 0:59I mean this topic has been on the social media space for over
- 1:03a year now, since last year actually when Mobad did a video
- 1:08talking about how the record label Malayans or Mali group
- 1:13wanted to kind of end his life basically.
- 1:19So let me just take you Mobile is a Nigerian artist, Afrobeat.
- 1:23He started making music online, doing, you know, short videos,
- 1:28releasing on social media, and then he got signed to Malian
- 1:32Records. Now Malian Records is owned by
- 1:35Naira Marley, another rapper, and he has been playing with a
- 1:40lot of controversies right from when he was 19.
- 1:44He lived in the UK in Peckham actually.
- 1:46And then there was an assault of a lady in a boss on a on a boss
- 1:52and the police actually released statements looking for him.
- 1:57So for some reason he got released.
- 2:01I mean he was 19 at that point, so I don't think he would do any
- 2:04serious gaol time. So he came back to Nigeria and
- 2:07started singing. He got signed by Olamide or he
- 2:13Olamide featured him in a song and he blew up.
- 2:17Now we all know Sophie, so peace, literally glorifying
- 2:23masturbation and a whole lot of people at that point in time
- 2:28said this guy is a bad influence, but he was already
- 2:31with a lot of people liked him. A lot of people like he was, he
- 2:37Malians were like his people. People were calling themselves
- 2:41Malians, even people's parents, basically not even just Gen ZA.
- 2:47Lot of people, we are associating themselves with
- 2:49Naira Mali and the Malian group now they were known for smoking.
- 2:54Like normally he is somebody that is he, he is just bad news
- 3:00altogether. And he was always online smoking
- 3:04one thing or the other, glorifying, you know, drug abuse
- 3:10and all that. Now being a young record label
- 3:13owner, Nara Mali signed younger artists, one of them being more
- 3:18bad. Now Mobile started his career
- 3:20just singing, putting his videos online on social media and
- 3:24people vibing to his song. He is very or he was very
- 3:27talented and people loved because his lyrics, he was
- 3:32somebody that talked about his situation in lyrics.
- 3:34He's not just talking about boobs and ass and all those kind
- 3:37of things. He was talking about his lived
- 3:40experiences or what he was going through at that time and for
- 3:45some reason his lyrics is always really kind of Moody, sad from
- 3:50what we know he came from, his parents are separated basically
- 3:56and then his dad married somebody else.
- 4:00So from that front he has always experienced kind of challenging
- 4:06upbringing because according to the story, the second wife of
- 4:10the dad or the girlfriend of the dad was not always, you know,
- 4:14being fed to him or you know, you know how the situation is
- 4:18when you when your dad marry somebody else and all that.
- 4:21So he got signed to normally record, released an album, and
- 4:25the album was doing well. There were so many songs from
- 4:28the album that went viral that people were vibing into that
- 4:31didn't even know it was more bad that sang the song.
- 4:34But Genz, particularly people in Lagos, or he could do, they were
- 4:39like his biggest fans and all that.
- 4:41Now last year something happened and then Mobile decided to leave
- 4:48Malayan record for some reason. According to what is going on
- 4:52online right now, He said he got no support from Nara Mali.
- 4:58He recorded the song. He uses money to record songs,
- 5:02pay for video and Naira Marley will not even repost on his
- 5:06page. So he was like, OK, why am I
- 5:08doing all these things when I'm doing all these things by myself
- 5:11And this guy is not even helping in any way?
- 5:14So why am I even signed to him? I think that was where the whole
- 5:19thing started. He decided to leave Malan record
- 5:22at that point, Nara Mali and his manager Sam Larry.
- 5:29They said some Larry was not happy about it because according
- 5:33to them they made him who he is. But remember, before then he was
- 5:38already an Internet sensation. He was already, you know,
- 5:42singing, doing little videos, posting online.
- 5:45But he was not signed to a label.
- 5:47So when he left Malian records, he actually released an album
- 5:53and he was doing well. But then, according to the
- 5:56story, Naira Marley, seeing that this guy is doing everything
- 5:59without us, he started blacklisting.
- 6:02More bad telling, producers telling show promoters want to
- 6:07work with him. So that's kind of created a kind
- 6:12of depressing period for more bad because even people he
- 6:17thought were his friends were no longer picking his call so he
- 6:21fell into depression and Malian records, especially some Larry,
- 6:27we're just harassing this young man.
- 6:29This guy is 27 years old, you know, with a wife and son.
- 6:35People were just from the record, were harassing him.
- 6:37He actually did a video earlier this year was a little last year
- 6:42where he went live. He went to Malaya.
- 6:45When he left, actually left Nara Malley's house.
- 6:49He went live. They were beating him up.
- 6:52He was saying that if anything happens to him, they should hold
- 6:56Naira Mali or Malian records responsible for his demise or
- 7:01anything like that. When all those things was going
- 7:04on, he was posting online. I think his team reached out to
- 7:07just lover to give discover the details because he actually
- 7:10filed a police report that was not going anywhere because Sam
- 7:15Larry and Naira Mali they are close to the now president
- 7:21Tinubu Lagos State government decided colluding with the Drug
- 7:25Enforcement Agency. It was just like they had
- 7:29everybody kind of India camp basically.
- 7:33So this guy was not getting any justice.
- 7:35He reached out to discover to say help me, I'm trying to cry
- 7:38out. I'm trying to get these people
- 7:40to leave me alone. It is not working.
- 7:42I remember then just lover released kind of a statement
- 7:45warning Naira Marley to leave Mobile Delone because if
- 7:48anything happens to him, he will be held responsible.
- 7:52At that point, according to the story, Naira Mali colluded with
- 7:58the NDL E the arrested him. Within those the, you know,
- 8:05arrests the station. According to Mobad he was hit
- 8:09with a gun and given substances to drink.
- 8:13So according to the story because there were videos online
- 8:17where he was saying all these things, he said since he came
- 8:20out of that place he has been, he has not been himself.
- 8:23He has been having stomach pain. He has been having memory loss.
- 8:27Because you know when you were being hit with a gun and you're
- 8:30like this guy's life just went down hill.
- 8:35From that point, even the wife cried out that he, he has never
- 8:39been happy, his son six months old or five months old.
- 8:44And he, she said he almost committed suicide.
- 8:49There was one day they were just sitting down and he just wanted
- 8:52to jump out of the window because of what Malayan record
- 8:57or Naira Mali and Sam Larry were doing to him.
- 9:01So this is somebody that was oppressed, this is somebody that
- 9:05was harassed, this is somebody that was physically assaulted.
- 9:11Just because he left a record label.
- 9:14Now when he eventually passed, people are now thinking, OK,
- 9:20there has to be some kind of justice.
- 9:22There has to be people being questioned regarding what
- 9:27happened. Now we're just trying to figure
- 9:30out what is going on. Nirmali people, a lot of people
- 9:34were fingering my Naira Mali and Sam Larry, asking the police to
- 9:39question them. Now the police PPRO came out and
- 9:42said, Oh my God, they are trying to do their job.
- 9:45They said that, yes, that Mobile filed the petition, but when he
- 9:49was invited to the station, he did not show up.
- 9:52Now this whole thing has been like, it's it's been ridiculous
- 9:56because you look at this whole thing, you could see this young
- 9:59man physically, you know, asking for help.
- 10:03Now this whole thing is just ridiculous like looking at the
- 10:08whole story and then he died and within a day the the father
- 10:15buried him and then the the family of more bad Saudi
- 10:20accusing the wife of trying to steal properties trying like
- 10:26it's you just look at it is so sensational that everything you
- 10:33want to think of is in this story like physical abuse,
- 10:37mental abuse psychological abuse family abusing the wife drug
- 10:44abuse everything you would need to make a story sensational was
- 10:49part of this story. Now the wife came out and said
- 10:52she did not take anything in fact the wives other sister
- 10:56granted an interview and said my sister did not have any because
- 10:59the the the mobile's dad was kind of accusing the wife's mom
- 11:06of collecting everything that Mubarak had that he never
- 11:11received anything. Murbad never gave him as much as
- 11:14you know 500 like he like your child just pass.
- 11:21Are you buried him in a very controversial circumstances.
- 11:25You buried him which has an autopsy.
- 11:27You like this man. People are actually thinking OK
- 11:31you know something you must know something about this whole
- 11:34thing. People are now saying OK why are
- 11:35you not pointing the fingers to your in-laws because there's
- 11:39something you're not saying. Now this isn't that minding our
- 11:42business thinking, OK, this is going to be dying down soon.
- 11:46Cameo lawyer came out online and said she knows why he was buried
- 11:53in a hurry. According to her, Mobile is a
- 11:56cultist like listen, he can't be like listen, Cammy is is a
- 12:02different breed, you know? She said the reason why that a
- 12:06family member actually reached out to her and said that the
- 12:09reason why he was buried in a hurry was because after his
- 12:12death there were still things moving in his body like his
- 12:16snake moving in his body. And for them to prevent that
- 12:20snake coming out or that thing coming out of his body, they had
- 12:24to bury him in a hurry. And they don't want to cut him
- 12:28open and be, you know, this story.
- 12:34This is a young, this is a 27 years old young man and the
- 12:40family are releasing stuff about him.
- 12:43The the he is just sensational. But somebody lost their life.
- 12:53Somebody's child would never get to see their father again.
- 12:58And we have a widow in the mix too.
- 13:02It is very emotional when you look at the whole circumstances
- 13:08leading to his death and everything going on even after
- 13:12his death from his father, from his family, from people actually
- 13:21is the online people now that are actually seeking justice
- 13:24because the father is saying that his son died of natural.
- 13:29The father needs to be arrested like you know the circumstances
- 13:34surrounding the the passing of your son.
- 13:36But this man is coming out to say ohh all those things are
- 13:40just, you know, his son is this, this is just sad in every way
- 13:48you want to look at it. Now the lessons here is if
- 13:54you're a young person, if you're a young talent, if you have what
- 13:59it takes because listen, if you have something, you definitely
- 14:03know you have something. And if somebody is reaching out
- 14:07to you to manage your to is because they have seen something
- 14:12in you. I understand.
- 14:14That's OK. Some people just want fame they
- 14:17don't want at all cost. They don't want to think about
- 14:21the consequences of that fame, or the repercussion or what a
- 14:29means to actually sign to a record label, or what it means
- 14:33to actually sign to a record label to a a character like the
- 14:38Malians. These are controversial people
- 14:41who were openly abusing drugs, talking like these people.
- 14:48Now we're just waiting for the police to carry out an
- 14:51investigation. There has been petition signed
- 14:55against Malian records to close, like to cancel them.
- 14:59Basically a producer Samklef has been going on about it, talking
- 15:03about how these people need to be stopped, how you know, the
- 15:07the Malians need to be boycotted, cancelled and all
- 15:11that. But the reality is, if you look
- 15:14at the music industry or the entertainment industry, there's
- 15:17so much Godfather Prism, there's so much you know who know who in
- 15:23this whole thing. But I think we have all been
- 15:28given the gifts of the Internet, social media sometimes.
- 15:33Yes, being signed to a record label or being signed to an
- 15:37entertaining PR, whatever gets you to your destination quicker,
- 15:42but at what cost? A whole lot of people now are
- 15:47making skits, doing their own thing without having to go
- 15:51through he channel. I think everybody needs to sit
- 15:57down and think about, you know, what the entertainment industry
- 16:01actually entails, how does it affect people mentally?
- 16:05I think we just have to start thinking about mental health,
- 16:10how we handle fame, because a whole lot of people want fame.
- 16:15But do you understand the consequences of that this young
- 16:21man? Yes, he was very famous, but
- 16:25obviously he he did not kind of translate into monetary reward.
- 16:34Yes, he was making money for the family were looking at him like
- 16:39ohh, you should be bringing money because everything that
- 16:42dad was saying was basically about money.
- 16:45About money you just lost your son that you buried without
- 16:49even. Anyway this whole story is still
- 16:53developing. We're waiting to see what the
- 16:56police has to say about this whole thing.
- 16:59If they are going to carry out investigation, if they're going
- 17:01to invite Naira Mali and some Larry to the police station for
- 17:06questioning. Nara Mali has released his own
- 17:09questionnaires talking about OK what happened to the guy like
- 17:13gaslighting to the highest level.
- 17:17But we hope that people responsible, he may not be
- 17:21directly responsible, like he may not have pulled the trigger,
- 17:25but he's an accomplice for you to be harassing this young man.
- 17:30You, you, you, you, you have your how much is he making?
- 17:35But just to show that superiority people, you are just
- 17:39harassing him. He needs to be questioned,
- 17:42regardless of whether he is affiliated to Tinubu Fashola.
- 17:46Whatever this young man needs to.
- 17:51I saw some questions. We are all sitting down waiting
- 17:54for the outcome of this whole thing.
- 17:57There has been kind of protest, peaceful protest that is being
- 18:02organised, I think, on the 20th. And yes, I will keep you all
- 18:06posted and we pray that the soul of Mobile rest in peace and that
- 18:10his wife, you know, have the fortitude to bear the loss.
- 18:14We pray for his young child or their young child, for that
- 18:19young man to kind of grow and have a normal life because this
- 18:25whole thing surrounding the passing of his dad is something
- 18:29that will remain on the Internet forever.
- 18:32Anyway, that's a lot to say for today.
- 18:34Thank you very much for watching this episode.
- 18:36Please like, like, like and share.
- 18:38Thank you very much. Bye.
- 18:39Bye.
