- 0:03Speaker 1: You're tuned to the Sean O'Connell Show from the Murdoch
- 0:06Speaker 1: Chevrolet studio of ESPN 700 and 92.1 FM.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Sean O'Connell Show on ESPN 700, 92.1 FM.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We're joined now by Sammy Mora on a Ute Zone Wednesday.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Utah football and well, Utah, all things insider, but it's
- 0:34Speaker 2: football season.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Sammy, welcome. How are you?
- 0:37Speaker 4: I'm doing great, Sean. How are you?
- 0:40Speaker 3: I'm doing all right. Glad to have you with us.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We were just talking about the depth of this Utah
- 0:46Speaker 1: football team inspired by an article in ESPN right now
- 0:50Speaker 1: talking about how, you know, the talented QB number two
- 0:54Speaker 1: is a thing of the past for a lot of
- 0:55Speaker 1: programs because as soon as somebody is thought to be
- 1:00Speaker 1: talented at the quarterback position.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Somebody wants them to be their starter.
- 1:03Speaker 1: We've talked about it plenty, but Utah was able to
- 1:06Speaker 1: retain both Devin Dampier and bird Ficklin. They've used both
- 1:09Speaker 1: Devin Dampier and bird Ficklin and all four games this season.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And it's really working out very nicely for the Utes.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But then I zoomed out a little bit and I said, wow,
- 1:17Speaker 1: there's actually a lot of depth at a lot of
- 1:20Speaker 1: crucial positions for this Utah football team. And so I'm
- 1:24Speaker 1: going to table the bird and the Devin thing for
- 1:26Speaker 1: just a second here.
- 1:28Speaker 3: What is the deepest position beyond that quarterback room for you?
- 1:33Speaker 4: Safety, I think. I want to say that the safety room.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Is looking mighty deep. Obviously, you know, Jackson, Benny, Nate, Richie,
- 1:42Speaker 5: Rabbit Evans, all three of them are playing and starting
- 1:45Speaker 5: majority of the games this year. And it's so deep
- 1:49Speaker 5: that you have Benny playing mainly nickel. Just you can
- 1:51Speaker 5: have all three of those guys out on the field
- 1:53Speaker 5: at any given point. But then if you look behind them,
- 1:56Speaker 5: we've heard a lot of good things about Nate Tillman.
- 1:58Speaker 5: He's played a lot this season.
- 1:59Speaker 4: We've heard a lot about Manny.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Fuller and what he can do as well. So I
- 2:03Speaker 5: think that safety is probably the first one that pops
- 2:06Speaker 5: into my brain. But you could make an argument about
- 2:09Speaker 5: wide receiver. You could make an argument about running back.
- 2:12Speaker 5: You could even make an argument about offensive line with
- 2:14Speaker 5: the amount of guys that Utah's been playing this season.
- 2:17Speaker 5: And same with linebacker. I think you have the four
- 2:20Speaker 5: starters that have been playing. Well, not starters, but the
- 2:22Speaker 5: four guys that have.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Been rotating a lot this year. So I do agree.
- 2:26Speaker 4: I think that there's a lot of positions across the
- 2:28Speaker 4: board that are super deep for Utah this year.
- 2:32Speaker 1: All right, if we now bring Devin and Bird back
- 2:35Speaker 1: into it, it hasn't looked like a normal QB1, QB2 relationship.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I don't think we anticipated that it would because even
- 2:42Speaker 1: last year it didn't. Now that we've had a bye
- 2:46Speaker 1: week to kind of digest the first four games. Is
- 2:50Speaker 1: the balance where it should be right now? Is the
- 2:52Speaker 1: balance correct? Do we need to see more bird throwing?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Do we need to see less of them on the
- 2:58Speaker 1: field at the same time running speed options and trickerations together?
- 3:02Speaker 1: If you could revise or adjust, or maybe not, that
- 3:06Speaker 1: 2QB room, is it being handled the right way?
- 3:11Speaker 5: I think so. We've heard a lot from Kevin that
- 3:14Speaker 5: this offense is built around making other teams pay for
- 3:20Speaker 5: whatever Utah puts on the field. And if that means
- 3:22Speaker 5: putting both on the field at the.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Same time, I'm fine with it because it's winning games.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Obviously I know that people like, you don't want to
- 3:29Speaker 4: get too cute with it.
- 3:30Speaker 5: And I think that's something that Morgan has talked a
- 3:32Speaker 5: lot about. And that's something that Kevin has also talked about.
- 3:34Speaker 4: You don't want to get cute. You want to be
- 3:36Speaker 4: able to be efficient with what you're doing.
- 3:38Speaker 5: But not make it so cute that defenses are figuring
- 3:41Speaker 5: out what you're doing quickly.
- 3:42Speaker 4: And for the most part, they haven't like, Yeah, there
- 3:45Speaker 4: was those couple.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Of drives that they stalled versus Iowa State, but they
- 3:48Speaker 5: went away from.
- 3:48Speaker 4: What was working. And what was working in that moment
- 3:50Speaker 4: was running the ball with Wayshon.
- 3:51Speaker 5: And the second they went back to it, Wayshon scored,
- 3:55Speaker 5: Utah seals the game. It's pretty simple that you do
- 4:00Speaker 5: what's working. And if having both quarterbacks out on the
- 4:02Speaker 5: field is working, then that's what Utah needs to do.
- 4:05Speaker 4: I don't think... We need to see Bird throwing the
- 4:07Speaker 4: ball more.
- 4:08Speaker 5: I think that Devin has been an efficient passer through
- 4:11Speaker 5: four games. I've liked what I've seen from him in
- 4:13Speaker 5: terms of his development as a passer.
- 4:17Speaker 4: He's going through his progressions a lot better. So for
- 4:19Speaker 4: the most part, I'm fine with what he's doing. It was,
- 4:22Speaker 4: you know, Bird played only seven snaps versus Iowa State, which.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Was like his lowest snap count since I can't remember
- 4:28Speaker 5: which game last season. But they're tailoring the offense to
- 4:32Speaker 5: what the defense is giving them.
- 4:33Speaker 4: So as of right now, no complaints from me on
- 4:35Speaker 4: that area as well.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What we saw from Iowa State last week against West Virginia, look,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't think West Virginia is on Utah's level defensively,
- 4:48Speaker 1: but Aiden Flora has now done to everyone except Utah
- 4:52Speaker 1: something similar to that, where he's averaging eight-plus yards a
- 4:56Speaker 1: carry against normal competition.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Against Utah, he's lucky to get four.
- 5:02Speaker 1: He's 212 yards of rushing and then a couple of
- 5:05Speaker 1: touchdown passes. Now that we look at it all in hindsight,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and of course two weeks of hindsight really clarifies things
- 5:12Speaker 1: for you, should we be talking more about what Utah
- 5:15Speaker 1: was able to do in containing one of the best
- 5:17Speaker 1: players in the Big 12 Conference, at least through these
- 5:20Speaker 1: first few weeks?
- 5:22Speaker 5: I think so, because Flora, even before that, the week before, he...
- 5:28Speaker 5: we played Iowa state played Utah. I think he also
- 5:31Speaker 5: had like a big game and in multiple aspects, he
- 5:34Speaker 5: was catching the ball. He was rushing the ball and
- 5:35Speaker 5: he was being.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Used in special teams action. And he just ran wild.
- 5:40Speaker 4: So I do think that some credit needs to be
- 5:41Speaker 4: put on this Utah defense, specifically the defensive line and
- 5:45Speaker 4: the linebackers for being able to limit him. I know
- 5:48Speaker 4: that the big concern.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Heading into the season was run defense. And if Utah
- 5:52Speaker 5: can limit someone who then rushes for 200 yards and,
- 5:55Speaker 5: to what like I think it was like 50 or
- 5:57Speaker 5: 60 is what he rushed for versus Utah I it's
- 5:59Speaker 5: very encouraging and I think a lot like attention needs
- 6:02Speaker 5: to be put on that and I think attention needs
- 6:04Speaker 5: to be put on the run defense as a whole
- 6:06Speaker 5: like they haven't given up more than 115 yards all
- 6:09Speaker 5: season on the ground and they've had some some talented
- 6:11Speaker 5: running backs and some talented mobile quarterbacks that have been
- 6:16Speaker 5: lining up.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Across from them and so I'm encouraged by.
- 6:18Speaker 5: That area I think that Flora is a.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Very good running back. I think that he has the
- 6:24Speaker 4: potential to be one of the top three backs in
- 6:27Speaker 4: the conference this year. I think it's him, LJ Martin,
- 6:30Speaker 4: and Wayshawn Parker are at least my top three right now.
- 6:34Speaker 4: And so it's going to be interesting to see how
- 6:36Speaker 4: teams continue to scheme against him or if they are
- 6:39Speaker 4: able to stop him because Utah gave a good blueprint
- 6:41Speaker 4: on what you should do. It's just a matter of
- 6:43Speaker 4: if teams are able to follow it. And I agree,
- 6:45Speaker 4: West Virginia is not... at the level of Utah in
- 6:49Speaker 4: terms of run defense. I think their.
- 6:50Speaker 5: DC made a comment about that either yesterday or today,
- 6:54Speaker 5: and it's kind of making its rounds, but yeah, I
- 6:57Speaker 5: credit needs to be given to that defensive line, especially
- 7:00Speaker 5: giant Carson. Like the two of them were just playing
- 7:03Speaker 5: at an insanely high level versus Iowa state.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And it showed Sammy Moore is our guest here on
- 7:08Speaker 1: a youth zone Wednesday. Talk at all things, Utah football,
- 7:11Speaker 1: our conversations here brought to you by mountain home services.

- 7:25Speaker 1: Mountain Home Services today.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Tell them that OC sent you.
- 7:29Speaker 1: All right, what is the most troubling or alarming thing
- 7:33Speaker 1: about the Kansas matchup on Saturday night?
- 7:39Speaker 5: I honestly, like, the thing is, I think these two
- 7:41Speaker 5: teams stack up pretty, like, statistically, if you're looking through
- 7:45Speaker 5: the stats, like, they stack up well.
- 7:47Speaker 4: I am interested to see.
- 7:49Speaker 5: How Utah handles Iowa's run defense. They have been pretty
- 7:54Speaker 5: stout up front throughout the most part of the season.
- 7:57Speaker 4: First four games of the season.
- 8:00Speaker 5: But also there.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Was concerns about Utah's running game heading into Iowa State
- 8:04Speaker 4: because Iowa.
- 8:04Speaker 5: State also had a strong run defense. And I think
- 8:07Speaker 5: getting Keith Olsen back out there was a big part
- 8:09Speaker 5: of the success we saw.
- 8:11Speaker 4: You saw Kelvin Obot see some added time and started
- 8:14Speaker 4: even versus Iowa State. So I'm excited to see how.
- 8:17Speaker 5: This run offense attacks the Kansas run defense. I think
- 8:22Speaker 5: that this team is invigorated.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I think they're excited to be back out there, especially
- 8:25Speaker 4: after the bi-week and stuff. So I think that's my
- 8:28Speaker 4: biggest thing right now. I don't, there's nothing that's like,
- 8:32Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, like how is Utah going to stop this?
- 8:34Speaker 4: Or how is Utah going to attack this? That's really
- 8:37Speaker 4: like lingering in my brain throughout. Cause I went back
- 8:41Speaker 4: and watched Kansas starting last week. I mean, I watched
- 8:43Speaker 4: that Kansas Missouri game earlier in the season and I
- 8:47Speaker 4: there was game plans.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Like I, Missouri was able to throw the ball effectively
- 8:50Speaker 5: on Kansas, but.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Then Kansas was able to shut down Arizona state. So
- 8:53Speaker 4: it's just one of those things where it's like, what
- 8:55Speaker 4: Kansas are you going to get? But run, run ground
- 8:58Speaker 4: game for Utah's offense is a big thing. I'm excited
- 9:01Speaker 4: to see.
- 9:03Speaker 1: So, uh, it's been a couple of weeks. Uh, way
- 9:06Speaker 1: Sean Parker is an absolute monster. Uh, the, uh, 20-something
- 9:12Speaker 1: touches feels a lot better for me than what we
- 9:15Speaker 1: saw against Utah State. But when you do that, you
- 9:18Speaker 1: take away opportunities from his backups. You take away opportunities
- 9:21Speaker 1: from other guys in this offense. And it's a wonderful
- 9:25Speaker 1: problem to have. The correct number of touches for way
- 9:29Speaker 1: Sean Parker in a Kansas game and maybe moving forward
- 9:33Speaker 1: is how many for you?
- 9:36Speaker 5: It's hard because I can see them leaning into way
- 9:39Speaker 5: Sean a lot more.
- 9:40Speaker 4: If the team that they're.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Playing against has bad run defense, but then if you're
- 9:45Speaker 5: going up against.
- 9:46Speaker 4: A team that has a weak secondary.
- 9:47Speaker 5: I can totally see way Sean's touches going down because
- 9:50Speaker 5: they're going to try and throw the ball. Like McGiven
- 9:52Speaker 5: has said that this offense is.
- 9:53Speaker 4: A pick your poison and it's, it's really looking.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Like that through four, four games. So I don't really
- 9:57Speaker 5: know if there is a significant, like what the solid
- 10:01Speaker 5: number should be in terms of carries for way Sean
- 10:03Speaker 5: or touches for way Sean, but yeah, if the team
- 10:06Speaker 5: is giving you like, Oh, we're going to sell out
- 10:08Speaker 5: for the passing game.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah. You're going to, you're going to keep running it
- 10:10Speaker 4: with way Sean until they can show you that you're
- 10:12Speaker 4: going to stop it. So I don't really know. Like,
- 10:14Speaker 4: I feel like that's like a cop-out answer for me,
- 10:16Speaker 4: but it feels like this offense, like Morgan said, every
- 10:19Speaker 4: single week, somebody knew it stepped up to the plate
- 10:21Speaker 4: and done something.
- 10:22Speaker 5: And that's making it hard for defenses to key in
- 10:24Speaker 5: on Utah.
- 10:25Speaker 4: And so if, if it means way Sean.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Getting less touches, like it was versus Utah state, but
- 10:30Speaker 5: Braden pagan's eating in the passing game, um, I personally
- 10:33Speaker 5: don't have any issues with.
- 10:34Speaker 4: It, especially if Utah's coming away with the win.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Coming out of the bye, you've got to have good
- 10:40Speaker 1: practices during a bye week. Yes, it's nice to get
- 10:43Speaker 1: a little bit of rest, but you had good momentum
- 10:45Speaker 1: going in, so you don't want to lose any of
- 10:47Speaker 1: that if momentum from game to game is even a
- 10:49Speaker 1: real thing.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Some people believe it's not.
- 10:52Speaker 1: When you look at what this team needed to tweak,
- 10:56Speaker 1: needed to fix heading into the bye week, and we're
- 10:58Speaker 1: working on during the bye week, I put you in
- 11:00Speaker 1: charge of And there's something that you get to fix
- 11:03Speaker 1: or improve or alter coming out of the bye week.
- 11:05Speaker 3: What is that thing?
- 11:07Speaker 5: I think offensively, it's just the boneheaded penalties that kind
- 11:13Speaker 5: of limited things earlier in the first few games.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Like you have.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Weishan's long touchdown run that's taken back because it's illegal man.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Downfield on Alex Harrison. You have, I can't remember, I
- 11:24Speaker 4: think it.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Was Steve Chavez's Soto's touchdown versus Idaho's taken back because
- 11:28Speaker 5: Wilmani's called for a holding.
- 11:29Speaker 4: There's some of those Those penalties that shouldn't be called,
- 11:35Speaker 4: or not they should be called, but some things that Utah.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Could clean up in that area that would lead.
- 11:40Speaker 4: To additional points that are being scored that were taken
- 11:42Speaker 4: off the board. So I think that's offensively the biggest
- 11:45Speaker 4: thing for me.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Defensively, it's getting those defensive ends to actually finish.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Because Lance has been.
- 11:52Speaker 5: in the backfield quite a bit this off either this
- 11:55Speaker 5: season and he hasn't been able to come away.
- 11:56Speaker 4: With a sack so it's it's finishing those.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Plays for those defensive ends getting those sacks because Utah
- 12:01Speaker 5: already has 11 sacks on the season.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I know people will think that this team doesn't have
- 12:05Speaker 4: a lot of sacks already but they have 11 I
- 12:07Speaker 4: was looking.
- 12:07Speaker 5: At the number this morning and majority of those sacks
- 12:10Speaker 5: are coming from the linebackers and then the defensive tackles
- 12:12Speaker 5: have the.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Second most so if you can get those.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Defensive ends getting those sacks it just makes this defense
- 12:18Speaker 5: even stronger because if If Lance is crashing down, they're running,
- 12:22Speaker 5: and Ethan Day's right there to finish it up. That
- 12:26Speaker 5: leads to another sack, and that helps this defense put
- 12:28Speaker 5: these offenses into some passing situations, which let those two
- 12:32Speaker 5: pin their ears back and go at it. And maybe
- 12:35Speaker 5: Jackson Benny comes up with another interception, or.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Scooby, or Eli Reed, or whoever's back there in the secondary.
- 12:41Speaker 4: So I think those are the two big things. I
- 12:42Speaker 4: think there hasn't been anything truly... glaring about glaring.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Weaknesses, in my opinion, on, on this team this year,
- 12:51Speaker 5: I think that everything is run kind of smoothly. We,
- 12:54Speaker 5: I kind of have a better idea of.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Who this team is that I did maybe three, like
- 12:59Speaker 4: right before the season started, but you know, there's still
- 13:01Speaker 4: a lot of football left to be played.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So Let's talk about the big 12 at large, every
- 13:10Speaker 1: single week or every chance we get to talk to you,
- 13:13Speaker 1: the expectations have to be shifted.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Around the league.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Utah's been consistent. Utah's 4-0. Texas Tech is still undefeated,
- 13:21Speaker 1: but has shown maybe some vulnerabilities in certain places. BYU's
- 13:26Speaker 1: dealing with some injuries now that are very significant. I mean,
- 13:29Speaker 1: two of your best five players are out this weekend
- 13:33Speaker 1: against Iowa State.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Oklahoma State in the rankings. Houston in the rankings. And
- 13:37Speaker 3: that's a game that's coming up for the Utes.
- 13:39Speaker 1: When you look at the top three, four teams in
- 13:43Speaker 1: this Big 12 conference, how do you handicap them?
- 13:47Speaker 5: It's so hard because like you said, I think Texas Tech.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Has showed some deficiencies. We saw it versus Colorado. We
- 13:55Speaker 4: saw it versus Houston. I think that.
- 14:00Speaker 5: I'm very interested to see how BYU looks versus Iowa
- 14:03Speaker 5: State on Friday, especially like we talked about with Aiden Flora.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Isaiah Glaster is a big part of their run defense,
- 14:10Speaker 4: and with him out, I don't know how this.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Defense is going to handle Flora. Because if Flora is
- 14:17Speaker 5: able to run wild, I don't know if BYU's offense
- 14:19Speaker 5: has what it takes to respond, especially because we saw
- 14:22Speaker 5: what this offense looked like without L.J.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Martin last week.
- 14:25Speaker 5: And I know people are probably screaming at their radios, well,
- 14:27Speaker 5: the weather, the weather.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I get that. I get the weather, but you were
- 14:32Speaker 4: only effective with bear running the ball.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Like that was the only reason. And bear even then
- 14:36Speaker 5: only had like what, 66 yards of rushing.
- 14:39Speaker 4: So I, I am very interested to see how BYU
- 14:41Speaker 4: reacts to those two key pieces being out this weekend
- 14:45Speaker 4: versus Iowa state. Um, I Houston, I'm still confused about,
- 14:50Speaker 4: I have, they look, they have games where they look
- 14:52Speaker 4: really good.
- 14:53Speaker 5: And then you have to have a come from behind
- 14:55Speaker 5: victory to beat UCF. You had it in the bag
- 14:59Speaker 5: versus Texas tech for most of the game until that,
- 15:01Speaker 5: that last call at the end of the game.
- 15:03Speaker 4: So I don't really, it's so weird.
- 15:05Speaker 5: This conference feels really open this year, but at the
- 15:08Speaker 5: same time, I feel like the first team that makes
- 15:11Speaker 5: a mistake out of those top four of Utah is
- 15:15Speaker 5: a TC or Texas tech, BYU and Houston, the first
- 15:18Speaker 5: one to make another mistake or a big mistake for
- 15:21Speaker 5: the top three, I think is going to be on
- 15:22Speaker 5: the outside looking in.
- 15:23Speaker 4: I think the margin for error is so small in
- 15:25Speaker 4: this conference this year that it's just, just be clean.
- 15:28Speaker 4: And if you can stay clean, you're probably going to
- 15:30Speaker 4: be in a good position heading into November and December.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Speaker 3 If we.
- 15:33Speaker 1: End up with like a Baylor, Arizona conference championship game,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm going to be real mad.
- 15:39Speaker 4: It's going to be, that's the other thing is like,
- 15:41Speaker 4: I don't know what to think about Baylor. I don't
- 15:44Speaker 4: know what to think about Arizona. I don't know what
- 15:45Speaker 4: to think about Cincinnati.
- 15:47Speaker 5: It's just this conference feels so funky this year that
- 15:50Speaker 5: it's not even funny. Like, like last year it was
- 15:53Speaker 5: very clear cut that it was Texas tech conference to lose.
- 15:56Speaker 5: And then BYU and Utah were kind of.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Fighting for that second spot.
- 15:59Speaker 5: But like this year, it's like, I don't know what
- 16:02Speaker 5: is going to happen. And on one hand that makes it,
- 16:04Speaker 5: it's fun. Every game means a little bit more than it.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Did before the season. But at the same time, it's like,
- 16:10Speaker 4: kind of annoying because it's like something funky.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Is probably going to happen, which, which I don't like. I,
- 16:16Speaker 5: it's just weird.
- 16:17Speaker 4: It's the weird conference OC.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I don't think Utah ever gets to be
- 16:22Speaker 3: part of a normal conference. That's just the way things are.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Oh yeah. The PAC 12 days. That was also weird
- 16:28Speaker 4: with the amount of tiebreakers that Utah needed to get
- 16:31Speaker 4: into title games. And then, yeah, it was just a mess.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Just flip coins at the beginning of the season and
- 16:36Speaker 3: figure it out that way.
- 16:38Speaker 5: That is still one of the weirdest tiebreakers, in my opinion,
- 16:41Speaker 5: is that they're going to flip a coin and have
- 16:43Speaker 5: predetermined who's head and who's tails. Because the way this
- 16:46Speaker 5: conference rolls, somehow they're going to flip the coin and
- 16:49Speaker 5: it's going to land in a crack on.
- 16:50Speaker 4: The sidewalk and it's going to stay upright. And then
- 16:53Speaker 4: they're going to be like.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Well, I guess we're going to have to move down
- 16:56Speaker 5: to tiebreaker Z or something. It just feels weird. It's
- 17:01Speaker 5: I wish there was.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Divisions because it would make things so much easier, so
- 17:05Speaker 4: much easier when it comes to, to conference game standings
- 17:08Speaker 4: and stuff like that.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Well, um, your thoughts on the icy white helmets.
- 17:15Speaker 4: I love them.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Um, I fun fact, this is like a fun story.
- 17:19Speaker 4: I was actually talking to, uh, John Leone.
- 17:21Speaker 5: He's one of our staff writers over at Utona and he's,
- 17:23Speaker 5: Student editor at the.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Daily Utah Chronicle as well. I was literally talking to
- 17:28Speaker 4: him at the Utah State game, not knowing that these
- 17:31Speaker 4: hand-painted helmets were like, this was like what the idea
- 17:34Speaker 4: was for the hand-painted helmets. I said, it would be
- 17:36Speaker 4: really cool if Utah did a script Utah helmet.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Because I thought it would be, I think that's like
- 17:40Speaker 5: the one logo that remains untapped. for this Utah football program.
- 17:45Speaker 4: And so I didn't even know that this was where
- 17:46Speaker 4: they were at. I, for hand painted helmets. And then
- 17:49Speaker 4: I had heard like literally like right after the Iowa
- 17:52Speaker 4: state game that this is what it was going to be.
- 17:53Speaker 4: And I was like, did I manifest this? Am I
- 17:56Speaker 4: the reason that this is happening? I know I'm not,
- 17:58Speaker 4: but like, it was like one of those things that
- 18:00Speaker 4: was like a weird coincidence.
- 18:01Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Hey, maybe, yeah, maybe, maybe, maybe we should be thanking
- 18:06Speaker 1: you for these cool helmets.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Hey, you know, if you need something manifested, I'm your gal.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Let's just say it that way. Let's just put it
- 18:12Speaker 4: that way. I like them. I'm a big fan of them.
- 18:16Speaker 5: I think that hoodie that they announced this morning with Bird,
- 18:19Speaker 5: and it's like the ice drip, the icicles dripping off
- 18:22Speaker 5: the script detail. I love it.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I'm a big fan of the hand-painted helmets, have always been,
- 18:27Speaker 4: will always be a fan of them, but I love it.
- 18:30Speaker 5: It's like the last logo that remains untouched for football,
- 18:33Speaker 5: so I'm excited.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Wait, where's the hoodie? I haven't seen it.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Utah football posted it on Twitter this morning. See, where
- 18:40Speaker 4: have you been? It's almost like you've been on the radio.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry. I'm not always on Twitter. Oh, sick. Yep.
- 18:49Speaker 1: All right.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Whiteout merch. Whiteout merch.
- 18:55Speaker 4: It's nice. It's really nice.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Final prediction for the game on Saturday night.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Utah wins, Utah covers.
- 19:03Speaker 5: I don't really know what my score prediction should be,
- 19:06Speaker 5: especially now that there's rain in the forecast, there's wind
- 19:10Speaker 5: in the forecast.
- 19:12Speaker 4: But I do think Utah wins. I do think Utah
- 19:14Speaker 4: covers that 15 and a half.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Maybe it's running touchdowns. Maybe there's a break where the
- 19:20Speaker 5: wind's not a factor.
- 19:21Speaker 4: And Utah's able to air it out. But I do
- 19:22Speaker 4: think Utah's going to win this game.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Sammy, you're the best. See you up there. Thank you.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Thanks, OC. Talk to you later.
