- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to A Meeting of the Minds, crafted from decades
- 0:05Speaker 1: of talk show experience. An extension of the magic they've
- 0:08Speaker 1: created together on radio in the phenomenon called M & M.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hot topics in the news and wisdom from life. It's
- 0:16Speaker 1: Mark Davis and Mike Gallagher. This is M & M Extra.
- 0:22Speaker 2: For Thursday, October 15th, the Eminem are Mike and Mark.
- 0:25Speaker 3: That is Mike. I am Mark.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Mark Davis here in DFW. Mike Gallagher, nationally renowned. And
- 0:30Speaker 2: we are all here every day by virtue of our sponsors,
- 0:33Speaker 2: our title sponsor, Preborn. You can stand for life today.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Join us in providing ultrasounds for girls and women. You
- 0:39Speaker 2: will double, double the likelihood that she'll choose life.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Call 833-850-BABY.
- 0:46Speaker 2: 833-850-BABY or go to preborn.com slash M M extra. When
- 0:52Speaker 2: you have a couple of grizzled talk show veterans like us,
- 0:54Speaker 2: we talk about things that have happened in the news.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And every once in a while, we like to talk
- 0:58Speaker 2: about things that we think will happen, the prediction game,
- 1:01Speaker 2: and it can be a dangerous game, but the batting
- 1:04Speaker 2: average continues to go up for Nostradamus. It might be
- 1:08Speaker 2: N and M Nostradamus and Mark, because some days ago
- 1:12Speaker 2: before the, before the worm really started to turn, uh,
- 1:15Speaker 2: Mike told me at our 7.35 a.m. Central Time radio segment,
- 1:19Speaker 2: also something everybody should gather at 660amtheanswer.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Com.
- 1:23Speaker 2: He said, you know, this live stream thing, it's not
- 1:26Speaker 2: going to happen. And I went, whoa. And I said,
- 1:28Speaker 2: all right. It seemed like the mood was starting to shift.
- 1:32Speaker 2: But you are at the tip of the spear. You
- 1:35Speaker 2: are at the cusp. And today, just moments ago, it's
- 1:38Speaker 2: phrased weird. It says Trump overrules the Pentagon. I think
- 1:42Speaker 2: they all just came to an understanding.
- 1:44Speaker 3: But you.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I bow in your general direction. The live stream will
- 1:48Speaker 2: not happen.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Tommy, you have done it again. Well, I don't want
- 1:52Speaker 3: to appear gracious in your adulation, but I will point out,
- 1:57Speaker 3: I love pulling the curtain back. To me, there's nothing
- 1:59Speaker 3: better in this podcast space than to not only pull
- 2:03Speaker 3: the curtain back, but rip it off. And shine a
- 2:06Speaker 3: bright light on uncomfortable things. I want everyone to know
- 2:10Speaker 3: how this TV stuff that you're doing with Laura Ingraham
- 2:13Speaker 3: and and Chris Cuomo, and Will Kane, and all the,
- 2:16Speaker 3: how it's going to your head. What? You want to
- 2:20Speaker 3: go first so badly on this podcast, and we usually
- 2:23Speaker 3: go every other day. Right. You start, I start. Who
- 2:26Speaker 3: started yesterday? You started yesterday. And then you texted me,
- 2:30Speaker 3: I want to start today because I want to give
- 2:33Speaker 3: Nostradamus credit. Now, there's nothing about starting the podcast that
- 2:38Speaker 3: would have kept you from giving me credit. You just
- 2:39Speaker 3: want to go first. That's what you do. That's who
- 2:42Speaker 3: you are. I knew this TV crap would go to
- 2:44Speaker 3: your head. You are getting so arrogant and so full
- 2:48Speaker 3: of yourself, you're not going to be able to get
- 2:49Speaker 3: through the door because of that big head of yours.
- 2:52Speaker 2: This seems to be a bad time for me to
- 2:53Speaker 2: tell you I'm doing Will Kane this afternoon, I guess.
- 2:56Speaker 1: See?
- 2:56Speaker 3: See what I mean? Well, you'll have to go first
- 2:59Speaker 3: again tomorrow for our big holiday theme day.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Because I was about to offer pushback, but the reason
- 3:04Speaker 2: I wanted to go first was to give you your
- 3:06Speaker 2: proper accolade. But ultimately, upon further review, you're probably right.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You take it back.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I thought upon further review, you're going to take back
- 3:14Speaker 3: all the adulation and the praise.
- 3:16Speaker 2: No, this is, I mean, you didn't have to be
- 3:18Speaker 2: Kreskin to figure this out, but you were first among
- 3:21Speaker 2: many to just kind of see. And I think, unpack
- 3:25Speaker 2: it for me. Was it the moment you saw President
- 3:28Speaker 2: Trump begin to hem and haw about it? Was that
- 3:30Speaker 2: when you went, ah, it's not going to happen?
- 3:32Speaker 3: Well, it was also that and sort of getting the
- 3:34Speaker 3: reaction from the audience. Look, I've got lots of shortcomings
- 3:38Speaker 3: and I have lots of flaws. We all do. But
- 3:40Speaker 3: I've got a pretty good instinct for the pulse of
- 3:43Speaker 3: the people. I always have. The day that Trump came
- 3:45Speaker 3: down that golden escalator and I heard the excitement from
- 3:48Speaker 3: the audience, I thought, you know what? I'm in. He's
- 3:51Speaker 3: going to be the guy. And I felt good about it.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And we were even in the hallways of WNYM in
- 3:58Speaker 3: New York. Joe Piscopo and I were kind of huddled.
- 4:01Speaker 3: together in the hallway saying, I think he's going to
- 4:03Speaker 3: be the guy. And everybody was saying, oh, no way.
- 4:05Speaker 3: You know, all the management folks at the radio station said, Trump,
- 4:09Speaker 3: he's a joke. It's not going to happen. He can't win.
- 4:12Speaker 3: It's a bit.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So I really do. I am kind of proud of
- 4:16Speaker 3: my of my instincts. And yes, it was a combination
- 4:20Speaker 3: of Trump, sort of the reporting that came from Axios.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And I like Axios. I mean, they're they're beltway. They're inside.
- 4:27Speaker 3: They're left leaning, probably. But they're pretty good reporting. They've
- 4:31Speaker 3: got good journalism, journalism. They sort of know what they're
- 4:35Speaker 3: what they're doing. And they said there were four, no
- 4:38Speaker 3: less than four people that they spoke to who knew Trump,
- 4:41Speaker 3: who said he was having reservations about it. Look, it's
- 4:45Speaker 3: a lot to ask. And I I get the and
- 4:48Speaker 3: did you see Trump's statement about it? His he posted
- 4:51Speaker 3: a big truth social statement this morning. not too long ago,
- 4:56Speaker 3: explaining his reasoning. And he went through the whole thing
- 4:58Speaker 3: about what a coward and a monster this guy is.
- 5:01Speaker 3: You know, he shot that young pregnant soldier. She was
- 5:05Speaker 3: begging for the life of her baby. She was literally saying, please, please,
- 5:10Speaker 3: my baby, my baby. He shot her multiple times. laying
- 5:15Speaker 3: on the, he went back and executed these people. If
- 5:18Speaker 3: this guy doesn't deserve the death penalty, nobody does. So
- 5:22Speaker 3: I'm glad it's coming to fruition next month in at
- 5:25Speaker 3: Fort hood, same time of day that he committed his
- 5:28Speaker 3: evil heinous act. But I'm also relieved that this is
- 5:32Speaker 3: just one less distraction. The people who are squeamish about it,
- 5:36Speaker 3: even people on our side. Now you don't have an
- 5:39Speaker 3: issue to be upset about. We're not going to see
- 5:41Speaker 3: this guy's, you know, get blown away by, on pay-per-view.
- 5:45Speaker 3: It's not going to happen. Trump has canceled the live
- 5:48Speaker 3: stream execution, and I'm glad. I mean, look, it would
- 5:51Speaker 3: have been a great disincentive for other terrorists. I don't
- 5:54Speaker 3: think there's anything wrong with public execution.
- 5:56Speaker 2: The arguments for it remain firm and principled, and you
- 6:00Speaker 2: can still make them, and I would be glad to
- 6:02Speaker 2: make them if we were going to go ahead and
- 6:04Speaker 2: do this. The negatives began to outweigh the positives.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Part of it because of the optics. There were people
- 6:10Speaker 2: who were totally on board for Trump and totally on
- 6:12Speaker 2: board for the death penalty who said, let's not. Because, listen,
- 6:17Speaker 2: people who hate the death penalty and hate Trump, you
- 6:19Speaker 2: know they're going to be bagging on it. But when
- 6:21Speaker 2: some people of good heart and goodwill begin to say,
- 6:24Speaker 2: I just don't want to do this, you can't not
- 6:28Speaker 2: pay attention. And the other thing that really got a
- 6:30Speaker 2: hold of me, other than just the lure of the
- 6:33Speaker 2: power of your suggestion and predictive skill is, Is I
- 6:36Speaker 2: got to thinking that in a way, my logic was
- 6:39Speaker 2: based on the perfect world, that in a vacuum, it's
- 6:42Speaker 2: a good idea.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You can do it. It's scriptural. It's principled.
- 6:45Speaker 2: There's an intellectual and moral argument. And the broadcast itself,
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm sure, would have been steeped in decorum and propriety.
- 6:51Speaker 2: But then the problem is it goes out there into
- 6:54Speaker 2: this vulgar, ridiculous, juvenile world we all live in, especially online.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And it would have been joked and memed and mocked
- 7:03Speaker 2: and perverted. And just so just, you know.
- 7:06Speaker 3: You know, the other thing that would have happened, the people,
- 7:09Speaker 3: if there would have been audio with the live stream,
- 7:12Speaker 3: you know what he's going to yell.
- 7:14Speaker 2: As the bullets go flying, right? Yeah, but I– you know,
- 7:18Speaker 2: it's funny. Now it becomes a moot point. But it
- 7:20Speaker 2: is kind of– Well, no.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I don't think it's moot. How would this– would there
- 7:24Speaker 3: have been audio? What do you mean?
- 7:32Speaker 2: They said, what's it going to be like? How many
- 7:34Speaker 2: people are going to be on the firing squad? Will
- 7:35Speaker 2: the cameras be trained on him? Will we see him
- 7:39Speaker 2: riddled with bullets? And the big answer was, I don't know.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And I don't think they ever got around to actually
- 7:43Speaker 2: planning that. They would have had to eventually because it's
- 7:46Speaker 2: December 3rd.
- 7:46Speaker 3: But you know what he will say. Big old Allahu
- 7:49Speaker 3: Akbar in the fire. He is going to say, Alu Akbar,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and that would be the martyrdom of him. On the
- 7:59Speaker 3: other hand, it would also be a wake-up call. This
- 8:02Speaker 3: is what we do to Islamic radical extremists who kill us.
- 8:06Speaker 3: That's what we do. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Here's the statement, by the way. Let me read it
- 8:10Speaker 3: to you from President Trump. He wrote, is a very
- 8:17Speaker 3: bad and evil man who killed 13 people, including a
- 8:19Speaker 3: pregnant soldier who died, along with her unborn son, and injured,
- 8:23Speaker 3: very seriously, 32 more innocent people. Barack Hussein Obama's Federal
- 8:28Speaker 3: Bureau of Investigation intercepted electronic communications between Hassan and the
- 8:33Speaker 3: radical Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. When reviewed by his FBI
- 8:40Speaker 3: terrorism task force, investigators concluded that Hassan's emails were not
- 8:45Speaker 3: a threat This assessment of the Obama administration's actions was
- 8:49Speaker 3: later considered to be a key intelligence failure. With all
- 8:52Speaker 3: of that being said, Trump posted, I think streaming the
- 8:56Speaker 3: execution for all to see might have been a strong
- 8:59Speaker 3: deterrent for the world to witness how America deals with
- 9:02Speaker 3: terrorists and scum alike. like Hassan, but many very good
- 9:06Speaker 3: and well-meaning people would rather not watch him die through
- 9:09Speaker 3: streaming or through any other visual device. He will die
- 9:12Speaker 3: as scheduled by firing squad, but this event will not
- 9:16Speaker 3: be streamed. That said, the execution may be viewed in
- 9:19Speaker 3: person by the immediate families of the victims if they
- 9:22Speaker 3: so choose. They deserve to witness justice. Thank you for
- 9:25Speaker 3: your attention to this matter, President Donald J. Trump.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I think that's a masterpiece. It underscores exactly how serious
- 9:30Speaker 2: we are.
- 9:31Speaker 3: It's perfect. And we're not going to do it. And
- 9:46Speaker 3: by the way, good.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I'd rather have a White House. I'd rather have leaders
- 9:51Speaker 2: that float a bunch of ideas and go, hey, how
- 9:53Speaker 2: about this? And then go, this one's good.
- 9:55Speaker 3: This one's not.
- 9:56Speaker 2: And kind of do this on the fly rather than
- 9:58Speaker 2: have iconoclastic. people who will. Well, I said I was
- 10:01Speaker 2: going to do it. I totally have to do it now.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Flexibility is good.
- 10:06Speaker 3: You bet it is. And I don't want to bury
- 10:08Speaker 3: the lead. In 60 seconds, we've got to dive into
- 10:10Speaker 3: Jack Smith. What a story. What a bombshell. What a
- 10:13Speaker 3: shocking news this is. Here's some shock. You don't have
- 10:16Speaker 3: to suffer from back pain because you've got Relief Factor
- 10:19Speaker 3: ready to take good care of you. Rather than just
- 10:21Speaker 3: tell you about Relief Factor like Mark and I get
- 10:23Speaker 3: to do, we like to let our customers do it.
- 10:26Speaker 3: We hear from people every day whose lives have been changed.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Thomas admitted he wasn't really ready to try another supplement
- 10:32Speaker 3: for his back pain, but after years of worsening discomfort,
- 10:35Speaker 3: he finally gave Relief Factor a try. Now at age 73,
- 10:39Speaker 3: he's got his life back. He's walking, he's hiking, he's
- 10:41Speaker 3: riding his Harley and sharing Relief Factor with every person
- 10:45Speaker 3: he meets. Mark, that was your story too. Now you're
- 10:48Speaker 3: out there throwing the tennis ball with the doggies every day.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Your shoulder pain, gone.
- 10:53Speaker 2: It's the best thing in the world because, you know,
- 10:55Speaker 2: they obviously are thrilled. I'm thrilled to be able to
- 10:57Speaker 2: reach into the backseat of my car for some, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 2: piece of paper or something and not have that hurt.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I'm glad to wake up in the morning and have
- 11:03Speaker 2: it and not be achy for a couple of minutes
- 11:04Speaker 2: like I used to be. This is what Relief Factor
- 11:07Speaker 2: has done for me. Let's find out what it can
- 11:09Speaker 2: do for you with the three-week quick start, $ 17. 76, $ 17. 76.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Go to ReliefFactor.com, ReliefFactor.com, or call 1-800-4-RELIEF and see what
- 11:19Speaker 2: your success story might be.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Okay, here's Jack Smith, who is truly a reprehensible scoundrel.
- 11:26Speaker 3: And if you weren't mad at him before this news,
- 11:29Speaker 3: you are now. A new memo, Mark, has been released showing...
- 11:34Speaker 3: that the FBI, under Jack Smith's special counsel stewardship, gobbled
- 11:41Speaker 3: up the personal data of at least 639,000 Republican donors, voters,
- 11:49Speaker 3: and supporters. Mark, they've got names of people who donated
- 11:53Speaker 3: as little as a dollar to the Trump campaign in
- 11:57Speaker 3: a database. You bought a $ 25 red MAGA hat? Chances
- 12:01Speaker 3: are your name and your information is in Jack Smith's database. Now,
- 12:06Speaker 3: that's on the ballot in 19 days, Mark, because this
- 12:09Speaker 3: happened under the Biden administration.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I saw you post about that, and what a great
- 12:12Speaker 2: way to put it. Things like this are on the ballot.
- 12:15Speaker 2: People like this will either be rewarded with the reins
- 12:18Speaker 2: of power, or they will not.
- 12:20Speaker 3: It is up to us.
- 12:22Speaker 2: What are we going to do? I mean, what are
- 12:25Speaker 2: we going to do, Mike? Are people asking you, Listen,
- 12:29Speaker 2: we do this for a living. We know some things.
- 12:31Speaker 2: We've lived some life, but we don't necessarily have a
- 12:34Speaker 2: particularly guaranteed crystal ball. I know I've got a deep feeling.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's funny because you came at me this morning at
- 12:41Speaker 2: 735 on the radio and said you're sensing malaise. you're
- 12:44Speaker 2: sensing that people might just kind of be down in
- 12:46Speaker 2: the dumps. I am too, but I'm also simultaneously feeling
- 12:50Speaker 2: some people slowly rising up from that and saying, you
- 12:53Speaker 2: know what? We're not going to take these narratives. We're
- 12:56Speaker 2: not going to let the polls be right. We're not
- 12:57Speaker 2: going to let the Democrats be right. We're not going
- 12:59Speaker 2: to let a bunch of slow learner Republicans get us down.
- 13:02Speaker 2: We're going to walk through fire. We're going to walk
- 13:05Speaker 2: through walls. We're going to crawl in broken glass to
- 13:07Speaker 2: vote and thwart the usual history that the party in
- 13:11Speaker 2: power gets a bloody nose. So I I hold out
- 13:14Speaker 2: the hope that that happens. I pray that it happens.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Can I guarantee it?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Nope.
- 13:17Speaker 3: But listen, you're the big predictor. What did you tell me?
- 13:21Speaker 3: You know how you walk out of a studio after
- 13:23Speaker 3: you have a show and you know you just hit
- 13:26Speaker 3: it today. You nailed it. You had a great show.
- 13:29Speaker 3: To be honest with you, to be very blunt— I
- 13:32Speaker 3: feel that way every day after M & M Extra.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I don't know what it is about this podcast, but
- 13:36Speaker 3: every day I feel like we're doing what we want
- 13:38Speaker 3: to do and what we should be doing. Absolutely. Hopefully
- 13:41Speaker 3: this thing continues to grow and blow up into something very,
- 13:45Speaker 3: very important for people. The talk show, not always the case.
- 13:50Speaker 3: In fact, I hearken back to the days when I
- 13:53Speaker 3: worked down the hall from Rush Limbaugh at WABC. When
- 13:57Speaker 3: I got hired at ABC— Rush, of course, I was
- 14:00Speaker 3: the morning show host. And I would often stay there
- 14:03Speaker 3: during a lot of the day. I mean, I was
- 14:04Speaker 3: a young guy starting out really in the big time
- 14:07Speaker 3: world of talk radio and worked down the hall from Rush.
- 14:09Speaker 3: And I would see him at three o'clock. If I'd
- 14:11Speaker 3: be there late in the afternoon, I'd say, how'd the
- 14:13Speaker 3: show go? He'd say, ah, didn't really, I wasn't on
- 14:16Speaker 3: my game today. Now, these were days when he was
- 14:18Speaker 3: just brilliant. But that, and that was who he was.
- 14:23Speaker 3: But there were days when he said, yeah, I just
- 14:24Speaker 3: didn't feel it today. I was a little off my game.
- 14:27Speaker 3: And I had just listened to what I thought was
- 14:29Speaker 3: a few hours of brilliance. Of course. Well, we all have.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Maybe you don't have those days, Mr. I'm going to
- 14:35Speaker 3: go first today on the podcast. I'll tell you in
- 14:37Speaker 3: a minute. You finish first. But I have those days.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Yesterday was one of those days. I felt off my game.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I don't know what was wrong.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Why?
- 14:44Speaker 3: I don't know. I can't put my finger on it.
- 14:46Speaker 3: But I'll tell you when I feel great today. And
- 14:49Speaker 3: let me tell you why. Let me tell you why.
- 14:51Speaker 3: I took callers who so-called... self-described Republicans who said they
- 14:57Speaker 3: weren't voting. They weren't going to go on November 3rd,
- 14:59Speaker 3: or they were going to write in the Libertarian, or
- 15:02Speaker 3: they were going to write in Ralph Norman in South
- 15:04Speaker 3: Carolina instead of Darlene Graham Nordone. And I spotlighted those callers.
- 15:09Speaker 3: And I, first of all, I handled them, I think, respectfully, professionally,
- 15:13Speaker 3: but not one guy called from Louisville, Greg in Louisville.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I played that call back because it was so important.
- 15:18Speaker 3: He's mad because he was a Thomas Massey voter. He
- 15:23Speaker 3: was pissed off that Kentucky voter, well, he was mad
- 15:26Speaker 3: at Trump. He said, Trump ousted Massey. Well, wait a minute, Mark.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Trump didn't oust Massey. Voters ousted Massey. The Kentucky voters
- 15:35Speaker 3: ousted him. And guess what? Ed Galrein's got to win. Well,
- 15:38Speaker 3: he doesn't like Ed Galrein. I said, what policy? Do
- 15:41Speaker 3: you not like, I don't like that he's not fully transparent.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Shut up. Are you kidding me? So I didn't say
- 15:48Speaker 3: that to him. I actually was respectful. You're among friends.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Would you knock it off? You're not going to, you
- 15:52Speaker 3: don't like, look, don't let the perfect be the enemy
- 15:55Speaker 3: of the good. Ken Paxton is not a perfect candidate.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I'll say that all day long. Darlene isn't a perfect candidate.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Tell me. You want Annie Andrews? You want Senator James Tallarico?
- 16:08Speaker 3: Stop it. You've got to stop your little fit of
- 16:11Speaker 3: peak and you've got to do the right thing. And
- 16:14Speaker 3: so I spent almost the whole show today sort of
- 16:18Speaker 3: forming that thought over a multiple hour long show. And
- 16:22Speaker 3: it felt great because you know what I think I did?
- 16:25Speaker 3: Those callers. infuriated people enough to say, I'll crawl over
- 16:30Speaker 3: broken glass. There you go. Look what you did. Look
- 16:33Speaker 3: what you did there.
- 16:34Speaker 2: And you've identified exactly, this is funny because as you're
- 16:37Speaker 2: mentioning that, and I haven't really, I don't get this introspective,
- 16:42Speaker 2: I guess I do, but I'm sitting here thinking as
- 16:44Speaker 2: you're telling your story, how often as we slice the pie,
- 16:47Speaker 2: do I walk out at 10 o'clock central time and
- 16:51Speaker 2: kill the hour that leads to this experience with prep
- 16:53Speaker 2: and this and that, you know, taking a pee and
- 16:56Speaker 2: eating a bite of lunch or whatever I'm doing. If
- 16:58Speaker 2: I'm eating early, how many talks or radio talk shows
- 17:01Speaker 2: do I finish and go? That was awesome. That was
- 17:04Speaker 2: pretty good. Or man, I wish I could have done better.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Are there some days where I go, I might not
- 17:09Speaker 2: have been batting a thousand a day.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Yes, there are.
- 17:13Speaker 2: But on the days where I go, my Lord, today
- 17:16Speaker 2: was great. Today was absolutely a masterpiece.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:19Speaker 2: It wasn't first and foremost me. It was the audience.
- 17:22Speaker 2: There was something– because you and I are– I don't
- 17:26Speaker 2: want to say we're the same every day, but we
- 17:27Speaker 2: are a fixed entity. Whatever our content is, whatever we're thinking, feeling, saying–
- 17:32Speaker 2: The wild card, the variable at any given moment is
- 17:35Speaker 2: what do people bring you from the calling audience. And
- 17:38Speaker 2: when they're on it and special things happen and unexpected
- 17:40Speaker 2: things happen and there are surprises and delights and emotions
- 17:44Speaker 2: and real life happens, the top 10 best shows I've
- 17:48Speaker 2: ever done were not primarily because of me, but because
- 17:51Speaker 2: of what callers brought to me.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Okay, so I'm going to interpret what you just said,
- 17:55Speaker 3: which goes right back to my pulling back the curtain
- 17:58Speaker 3: saying you wanted to go first just so you could
- 18:00Speaker 3: go first today. You're telling me that when you're having
- 18:03Speaker 3: an off day, it's the audience's fault? No, no, no.
- 18:06Speaker 3: The converse is not true. You actually just said that.
- 18:09Speaker 3: You just said when I'm off, well, it's what the
- 18:11Speaker 3: audience brings me. These callers are crap. If I didn't
- 18:15Speaker 3: have crappy callers, I'd be better.
- 18:17Speaker 2: If the show is great, the audience is a big
- 18:20Speaker 2: part of the reason why. If it's like in a business,
- 18:23Speaker 2: if you love our business, if you hate our business,
- 18:26Speaker 2: if you love our business, tell everybody. If you hate
- 18:28Speaker 2: our business, tell us. If the show is great, callers
- 18:30Speaker 2: are probably why. If the show is problematic, it's my fault.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I love it. Stop it. Stop it, Mike. And thanks
- 18:36Speaker 3: to Mad Mike, who just said, Mike, you were on
- 18:38Speaker 3: your A game. You were spot on today. Thank you,
- 18:41Speaker 3: Mad Mike. in the live chat room over on YouTube.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And thank you for being there. Don't forget folks to
- 18:46Speaker 3: please subscribe. If you're in the chat room right now,
- 18:49Speaker 3: take a second, just hit that subscribe button. We want
- 18:51Speaker 3: to get up to 5,000 subscribers. We've got a ways
- 18:54Speaker 3: to go. We're at 4,730. So come on, let's get going.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Please subscribe, like, follow us.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Let's do a quick moment of outreach because if somebody's
- 19:04Speaker 2: in the chat room, they're on YouTube already and it's
- 19:06Speaker 2: just a quick thing to subscribe. If somebody is just
- 19:09Speaker 2: driving around in their car, whatever time it is, whatever
- 19:12Speaker 2: day it is, and they're listening to Apple or Spotify,
- 19:15Speaker 2: maybe they're subscribing to us there and it comes to
- 19:18Speaker 2: them in the Apple and Spotify world.
- 19:19Speaker 3: And that's fine.
- 19:20Speaker 2: But if you go ahead and hit us on YouTube
- 19:23Speaker 2: and subscribe to us there, that way, if you happen
- 19:25Speaker 2: to be at your laptop at noon Eastern or 11
- 19:28Speaker 2: Central or the other time zones, do your own math.
- 19:31Speaker 2: It just comes to you as if by magic. So
- 19:33Speaker 2: if you're on those other platforms, the Apples, the Spotify,
- 19:36Speaker 2: all those places where fine podcasts are found, next time
- 19:39Speaker 2: you got your laptop open, hop on over, pop up
- 19:42Speaker 2: the YouTube, do M & M Extra, click subscribe on that,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and it'll be just an extra show of devotion that
- 19:48Speaker 2: we will appreciate.
- 19:50Speaker 3: And I admit I'm a little bit of a Luddite
- 19:52Speaker 3: with this stuff. Mark and I, we talked about this
- 19:56Speaker 3: this morning, how much we've loved doing this podcast. It's
- 19:59Speaker 3: kind of a new territory for us. So Mad Mike,
- 20:02Speaker 3: who is responding to my shout out for him that
- 20:04Speaker 3: I just gave him on the chat room, said smash
- 20:07Speaker 3: that like button now there is i just did that
- 20:09Speaker 3: on my screen here so okay i hit like i
- 20:11Speaker 3: don't know what the hell that does.
- 20:13Speaker 2: But i know what's the like button again.
- 20:16Speaker 3: But what's the like button dude is that that doesn't
- 20:18Speaker 3: give us subscribers does.
- 20:19Speaker 2: It i don't think i don't think you gotta hit
- 20:21Speaker 2: you gotta hit.
- 20:21Speaker 3: The subscription button yeah so that's yasmin yasmin can straighten
- 20:25Speaker 3: me out on that old guys on the internet why
- 20:30Speaker 3: What are these buttons? What is happening? Oh, so Yasmin
- 20:34Speaker 3: points out that likes means engagement, but subscribe means subscribe.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Here's what I know. I think we've been on 4,733
- 20:42Speaker 3: subscribers for about six months now. We've got to get
- 20:46Speaker 3: to 5,000. Come on. We need subscribers. Come on. And
- 20:49Speaker 3: by the way, here's a moment pulling the curtain back
- 20:51Speaker 3: where I'll embarrass myself. And this is embarrassing. I'm finding
- 20:55Speaker 3: myself when I'm out running errands in the afternoon. Listening
- 20:59Speaker 3: to us? Yep. I'm going to Spotify in the car
- 21:02Speaker 3: and listening to us. And I'm loving it. And I'm
- 21:04Speaker 3: thinking I'm turning into a total narcissist. No, no, no.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Now, this is funny because I do it maybe not
- 21:11Speaker 2: as much as you do, but I confess that I
- 21:13Speaker 2: have done it as well. Because what happens is I'll
- 21:15Speaker 2: fire up my phone. I'll go to the various podcasts
- 21:17Speaker 2: that I do. And of course, I'm subscribing to my
- 21:19Speaker 2: own podcast. So it comes up the big, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 2: the big purple background and our happy faces bloop. And
- 21:24Speaker 2: I go, oh, there's today's episode. I got a few minutes.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Let's see how that went. There is a difference. There
- 21:30Speaker 2: is an appreciable difference between doing the show and hearing
- 21:35Speaker 2: the show. Because right now I'm thinking about whatever in
- 21:37Speaker 2: the world is the next thing I'm going to say.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I'm processing whatever in the world the next thing that
- 21:41Speaker 2: you're going to say is and how to respond to
- 21:43Speaker 2: it and make sense. When I'm just driving around just
- 21:46Speaker 2: absorbing it in a passive way, it comes out a
- 21:51Speaker 2: little different. It's a different thing. And I'm always attentive
- 21:54Speaker 2: to seeing if a moment that struck me as magical
- 21:58Speaker 2: really was objectively great if I were listening to it
- 22:00Speaker 2: as a detached human being.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Can I thoroughly humiliate myself? Now, you sound reasonable and say, well,
- 22:07Speaker 3: I listened to a few minutes.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I sat in my parking garage last night. Oh, no, no, no.
- 22:13Speaker 3: And listened to every word. I wanted to hear what
- 22:16Speaker 3: the whole thing sounded like. I said you were there.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I was pathetic. I'm so pitiful. Like Denise used to say,
- 22:22Speaker 3: I'm a little, little man. I agree with you. And
- 22:25Speaker 3: by the way, everybody's giving us advice. Scott Hummer says
- 22:28Speaker 3: hitting the like button helps to overcome the algorithms. The
- 22:31Speaker 3: more likes you get, the more YouTube will push you.
- 22:33Speaker 3: your content. So that's, that's kind of nice to know.
- 22:37Speaker 3: DM Prime says, love the YouTube broadcast. So, hey, like, subscribe, follow,
- 22:42Speaker 3: and somebody, Grayson Kidd wants to know what our, what our,
- 22:47Speaker 3: what our big theme is tomorrow. You want to give
- 22:49Speaker 3: a little tease about tomorrow's theme?
- 22:52Speaker 2: And it's funny, Mike mentioned this, full credit to Mike
- 22:54Speaker 2: for the idea, because I'm sitting here thinking, what would
- 22:55Speaker 2: be good for theme Friday? And we've done sort of
- 22:58Speaker 2: automotive technology Friday, historical travel Friday, and, And I don't
- 23:04Speaker 2: think this would have occurred to me for another few days,
- 23:06Speaker 2: maybe next week.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 23:08Speaker 2: But once again, ahead of the curve, there's Mike saying,
- 23:10Speaker 2: how about holiday preview Friday in which because you all
- 23:14Speaker 2: know it's October 15th. Halloween is in just over two
- 23:17Speaker 2: weeks and then bam, Thanksgiving, bam, Christmas. And then it's
- 23:19Speaker 2: New Year's. It's like, well, where did the year go?
- 23:22Speaker 2: So since that's the way it's going to go, we're
- 23:24Speaker 2: going to festoon tomorrow's Friday episode with all kinds of
- 23:28Speaker 2: stories about Mark and Mike as kids trick or treating
- 23:30Speaker 2: Halloween focus. Mark and Mike with thoughts about Thanksgiving and
- 23:34Speaker 2: how we have spent that and what we think of that.
- 23:37Speaker 2: And then the Mark and Mike Christmas preview as we
- 23:39Speaker 2: take a look at that holiday, how that's shaken out
- 23:41Speaker 2: in our lives. So it just, here comes the holiday season.
- 23:44Speaker 2: You know, it's about to work its way around to
- 23:46Speaker 2: the front of your mind. We're going to sort of
- 23:48Speaker 2: do an overview of holidays immediately on the horizon in
- 23:53Speaker 2: front of us and the many, many, many that we've
- 23:55Speaker 2: experienced in the past.
- 23:56Speaker 3: And I want to make a promise because longtime listeners
- 23:59Speaker 3: know that my Christmas as a kid growing up, it's
- 24:03Speaker 3: a little bit like a drunk Santa meets, you know,
- 24:07Speaker 3: the nightmare before. I mean, it's, you know, I've had
- 24:10Speaker 3: some dark, dark Christmas. It's tricky. Here's my promise. Nothing
- 24:14Speaker 3: but positive memories about my Christmas. I promise nothing about good,
- 24:18Speaker 3: nothing morbid tomorrow, nothing maudlin or sad. Cause it is
- 24:23Speaker 3: kind of a bummer. You know, I've, I've had some,
- 24:26Speaker 3: I mean, I've had some stuff, you know, You know,
- 24:29Speaker 3: when your dad dies on Christmas Day, there goes that holiday.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Here we are. I'm not doing that tomorrow. We're not
- 24:36Speaker 3: going to do that tomorrow.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Am I similarly shackled if there's something dark that I
- 24:41Speaker 2: want to visit on?
- 24:41Speaker 3: I mean, not that I'll do it on purpose. Oh,
- 24:44Speaker 3: you can match my dark Christmas? No, no, no, but
- 24:47Speaker 3: nobody can. Can you keep up with that? No. I
- 24:49Speaker 3: get the brownie, pal. I win the brownie on that one.
- 24:53Speaker 3: It totally differs. I mean, I'll go through. I can
- 24:55Speaker 3: go through the whole, the whole, the whole. I'm not
- 24:57Speaker 3: doing that tomorrow. But for some reason, Mark, I'm in
- 25:01Speaker 3: the holiday mood so much this year.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I'm right there with you. And it's the middle of October.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Have you ever gotten to almost Thanksgiving and had somebody
- 25:10Speaker 2: tell you, or maybe you feel that way yourself?
- 25:12Speaker 3: Yes. It's like, man.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I'm just I'm just not feeling it's like I'm trying
- 25:15Speaker 2: to and I'm not anti holiday. I'm not depressive. I
- 25:19Speaker 2: tend to be on board for this, but sometimes I'm
- 25:21Speaker 2: just slow to awaken. For some reason, I'm right there
- 25:25Speaker 2: with you. It's the middle of October and I'm ready
- 25:26Speaker 2: for the full trifecta Halloween. Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring, I'm ready
- 25:30Speaker 2: to pivot from A to B to C.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Totally ready. And I know why it is with me.
- 25:35Speaker 3: First of all, a week or so ago, I visited
- 25:38Speaker 3: for the first time in my life Salem, Massachusetts. Now,
- 25:41Speaker 3: do you know how thrilling that was to see the
- 25:43Speaker 3: history of the witchcraft and the witch trials? In fact...
- 25:46Speaker 3: Joey Hudson reminded me that Bill O'Reilly wrote one of
- 25:49Speaker 3: his Killing Series books on the Salem witch trial. Did
- 25:53Speaker 3: you read it? Sure did. I read all those. I
- 25:55Speaker 3: had Bill on the show.
- 25:56Speaker 2: He and that Martin Dugard guy would crank out a
- 25:59Speaker 2: killing book like every six weeks.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It's like, okay, here's the latest. Joey said The Killing
- 26:04Speaker 3: Witches of Salem, Massachusetts is one of his best. I
- 26:07Speaker 3: got it. It came yesterday in Amazon, and I'm going
- 26:09Speaker 3: to read it. I can't wait.
- 26:11Speaker 2: As you know about it, it is so– It's insane.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It's right there in the 1690s. And they just decide, well,
- 26:17Speaker 2: there's some inexplicable things going on. Must be witches. Let's
- 26:20Speaker 2: start killing people.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Whoa. And they do.
- 26:23Speaker 2: And everybody's on board for it because you don't know.
- 26:26Speaker 2: How would you like to be the person in Salem,
- 26:27Speaker 2: Massachusetts in 1692? who goes to a big old town
- 26:31Speaker 2: meeting and says, you know, I've got a thought here
- 26:33Speaker 2: that maybe what we're doing is wrong.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Well, that must be because you're a witch. It's like, whoa,
- 26:37Speaker 3: you're a witch. Then you're a witch. They took, they,
- 26:40Speaker 3: they put a six year old in jail, a six
- 26:42Speaker 3: year old child. They took 80 year old women, uh,
- 26:45Speaker 3: hanged them because they suspected them of being witches. It's crazy. And,
- 26:50Speaker 3: but I will tell you the festive atmosphere in Salem, Massachusetts,
- 26:54Speaker 3: all through October is, is something everybody ought to visit
- 26:57Speaker 3: at least once in their life. It's so fun. The houses,
- 27:01Speaker 3: the properties, the community is so beautiful and picturesque right
- 27:05Speaker 3: there on the water. Houses that were from the 1600s
- 27:08Speaker 3: are still standing. And I'm in that. I'm in that.
- 27:11Speaker 3: And I've never really been big in Halloween, but I
- 27:13Speaker 3: am now. Did Disney last week. We did the Mickey's
- 27:16Speaker 3: Not So Scary Halloween celebration. For Christmas, somebody just called
- 27:21Speaker 3: me Mike Griswold. Well, that's a hallmark in the Gallagher
- 27:24Speaker 3: family is Christmas vacation with Chevy Chase and the Griswolds.
- 27:29Speaker 3: My new tradition for the last few years, a hotel
- 27:32Speaker 3: room right on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route. Now,
- 27:36Speaker 3: it cost me an arm and part of a leg
- 27:38Speaker 3: to do it. They'll sell you a room where you
- 27:41Speaker 3: have a parade view in the hotel room of the
- 27:45Speaker 3: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Mark. How much? Oh, Mark, you
- 27:49Speaker 3: don't want to know. I really want to know. I'm ashamed. No,
- 27:52Speaker 3: I can't tell you. I'm embarrassed. Look, I had a
- 27:55Speaker 3: lady get mad at me yesterday. Mr. Pull the curtain back.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I'm not pulling that curtain back. I'll get nothing but ridicule.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I will stand up for you. All right. Three nights.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I'll just say this. I'll give you a hint. Three nights.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Five figures.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Which is anywhere from $ 10, 000 to $ 99, 000. That's all I'm
- 28:15Speaker 2: going to say.
- 28:16Speaker 3: So five figures for three nights that they saw me coming.
- 28:20Speaker 3: And I go back to the same place like an idiot.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I like an idiot. I go back and spend that
- 28:24Speaker 3: obscene amount of money.
- 28:26Speaker 2: But this is weird because you sent me video. We're
- 28:29Speaker 2: pretty well doing the Friday show now. Yeah, let's not
- 28:32Speaker 2: do this tomorrow. But one last thing, because for the
- 28:35Speaker 2: Thanksgiving thing, the– Did you ramp up to this? Because
- 28:39Speaker 2: I remember at one point you were like doing a
- 28:41Speaker 2: brunch where you just were there at a window eating
- 28:45Speaker 2: a meal at nine o'clock in the morning, which I'm
- 28:48Speaker 2: sure was not cheap either. But you didn't have to
- 28:49Speaker 2: have the whole. How do you mean you don't need
- 28:51Speaker 2: the whole stupid room to be above the parade route
- 28:53Speaker 2: for three days?
- 28:54Speaker 3: Well, the room, though, first of all, it's a minimum
- 28:57Speaker 3: of three nights. They don't let you stay for one day.
- 29:01Speaker 3: So they make you do three. Look, I'm telling you,
- 29:03Speaker 3: they see me coming. They say, this dummy. Hey, it's
- 29:06Speaker 3: the podcast. It's the podcast. Let me get a little blue.
- 29:09Speaker 3: They say, this dumbass, Mike Gallagher, is going to come along,
- 29:12Speaker 3: and we'll get anything we want out of him because
- 29:15Speaker 3: he's in the Christmas spirit. But here's the beauty of it.
- 29:18Speaker 3: When you're up there in that room. Of course. And
- 29:20Speaker 3: it's pouring down rain. Yes. Which has happened. And it's
- 29:24Speaker 3: 36 degrees and people are getting dang green. It's 36
- 29:26Speaker 3: degrees or snowing or raining and windy and you're in
- 29:31Speaker 3: a comfortable hotel room eating room service. Yep. Looking out
- 29:35Speaker 3: the window and this hotel has little window seats. Oh,
- 29:38Speaker 3: it's the best. It's the absolute best. And look, God
- 29:41Speaker 3: could take this all for me tomorrow. I am very
- 29:43Speaker 3: well aware that I'm blessed that I can afford it. Well,
- 29:47Speaker 3: I can't really. I mean, I'm going to go hungry
- 29:48Speaker 3: for a while, but nonetheless, I could pay for it.
- 29:51Speaker 3: And I'm grateful that because of platforms like this, I
- 29:53Speaker 3: get to do this kind of stuff. And I get
- 29:55Speaker 3: to share some of these experiences. And, Mark, you and
- 29:58Speaker 3: I get every day to get to share the experience
- 29:59Speaker 3: of pre-born. By the way, did you see Trump did
- 30:03Speaker 3: a tribute to Charlie yesterday? And he said Charlie would
- 30:07Speaker 3: have been 34 today. I don't think that's right. 33.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I thought he was mistaken.
- 30:12Speaker 2: He was 31 when he died, turned 32 days later,
- 30:15Speaker 2: so 33 yesterday.
- 30:16Speaker 3: So President Trump was simply off by a year, but
- 30:19Speaker 3: we're not off in our love for Charlie's memory and
- 30:21Speaker 3: what he did with Preborn, our title sponsor of the podcast.
- 30:24Speaker 3: They offer free ultrasounds to girls and women. When a
- 30:27Speaker 3: young woman sees her baby, hears that baby's heartbeat, it
- 30:30Speaker 3: doubles the chance she's going to choose life over the abortion.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Did you see what Tallarico said last night in a
- 30:37Speaker 3: CNN town hall?
- 30:39Speaker 2: The Bible is silent on abortion. How blind, how willfully
- 30:43Speaker 2: stupid do you have to be to know what God
- 30:46Speaker 2: wants with the life that he created? And I don't
- 30:49Speaker 2: mind bringing in the heavy artillery. If you're able, God
- 30:52Speaker 2: wants you to throw us a little something for pre-born
- 30:54Speaker 2: so that we can show these wonderful, wonderful sonograms, these
- 30:58Speaker 2: incredible ultrasounds to women so that they are twice as
- 31:01Speaker 2: likely to choose life. $ 140 helps give five mothers a
- 31:05Speaker 2: free ultrasound. $ 280 would be 10 babies. $ 28 a month,
- 31:09Speaker 2: if you want to make it simple, $ 28 a month
