- 0:00It's what you just said. You didn't know that then, all right?
- 0:03Yeah, okay, well I have some information for you. Now. This
- 0:06is like super good fun facts because everybody thinks they got fun facts. Na.
- 0:10Na, No, this is good stuff. You'll be able to share
- 0:12at the table, look like the coolest person in the family. Yeah.
- 0:15For example, James, did you know that the turkey, the bird you
- 0:18know, is actually linked to the country of Turkey. No, probably wondering
- 0:23you know what came first, the Turkey or Turkey. It turns out the
- 0:29Turkey bird got his name from the country due to a case of mistaken identity.
- 0:33No, check this out. During the Ottoman Empire, guinea fowl,
- 0:37which is a bird, were exported from East Africa via Turkey to Europe,
- 0:42the country now the Europeans. They started calling the birds Turkey cocks due to
- 0:49the trade route. So when the Europeans first sailed to North America, they
- 0:53discovered a bird that looked similar to these guinea fowl. But what they were
- 0:58saying is that they're cocks from Turkey, not that they're actually Turkey. Correct,
- 1:02got it? Yeah, though another name for a turkey or a male
- 1:06turkey. I suppose I thought that was only for chickens. Well, it's
- 1:08hard to argue with the Ottoman Empire because they're out of a round anymore.
- 1:12I don't know what they were thinking, but that's just interesting. I mean
- 1:15right, it's very interesting. You throw a little turkey cock infull on your
- 1:19on your family, you're gonna look pretty good. Grandma's going to be clutching
- 1:23her pearls when you drop that one on her tomorrow. Be adults about it,
- 1:26grandma, right now, so immature, grow up, you're eighty.
- 1:30Come on, God about now today, James. The Wednesday, you might
- 1:34know this, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is famously known as drinks giving. Oh
- 1:40some say, in fact, it's the booziest day of the year. We
- 1:44do have some booze here. We do have some booze here. My band,
- 1:47I'm in a band, by the way, called low Standards. You're
- 1:49in a band, Yeah, yes, I do a plane a band.
- 1:52You're you're in a playing a band. I know. I don't talk about
- 1:55a month Tusian. I try to keep the two separate. This job of
- 1:57that one. So we used to do. There was a ball in town
- 2:00called the Pickled Parrot, and every Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we would host a
- 2:04show called drunks Giving. That's pretty good. Bring that back, audit.
- 2:09They got to open it up first. Did you know that the parrot was
- 2:13also used to be called a turkey cock? No crazy? Okay? Wow.
- 2:17Now here's an interesting fact about Thanksgiving. The majority of Americans they secretly
- 2:23dislike classic Thanksgiving dishes but eat them anyway. Sixty eight percent say they dislike
- 2:30dishes like cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, even the turkey itself. I love
- 2:36turkey pike, but most everything else on Thanksgiving take it or leave it other
- 2:39than pie? Is that right? See? Because I feel like I could
- 2:43if you're, like, you know, running out of real estate on your
- 2:45plate, I think turkey is the first thing to go that in, like
- 2:49a dinner roll of any kind, like, don't need that. Well.
- 2:51The thing about the dinner roll, though, is no matter what can always
- 2:53going on top? I mean really you can go straight up with that one.
- 2:57Always room for a dinner roll. But honestly stuffing cranberries, mashed potatoes,
- 3:02gravy, and sure green bean castrole. Man, I gotta I gotta
- 3:08have half a plate of turkey with gravy. So I got a gravy.
- 3:12Now, is it white or dark turkey? Dark? Rap think dark meat
- 3:15is the best meat. A white turkey. It's a whole different animal,
- 3:17not literally, but it's gross, is what I'm saying now. Speaking of
- 3:22that turkey. You might have heard somebody before mentioned the reason turkey makes you
- 3:25so sleepy. Oh God, where you're going with this? Credited it to
- 3:30a chemical called trip to Fan. Huh, however, about to blow your
- 3:35mind. Oh no, it's not actually the trip to Fan that makes you
- 3:38tired. That's right. The holiday bird isn't actually to blame. The reason
- 3:43you can't imagine doing anything else after eating turkey, but you know, sit
- 3:46on the couch and watch football is simply because you over eight what right,
- 3:52It's the sheer amount of food you ate. That's not why you're so tired.
- 3:54It's not the chemically overload of trip to Fan. I think about it.
- 3:59Take any other meal the other three hundred and sixty four days of the
- 4:01year, anytime like Mondays when we have our plaza asked, Yeah, we
- 4:04eat like a gazillion pounds of Mexican food. Also, if you like taking
- 4:09a nat you know, we got to go back to work, which is
- 4:13not optimal for napping. I did have three shots of tequilas a's time.
- 4:16That might play a role as well, like a minday in the morning,
- 4:20Big Nutty eight point seven. All right, so we do a little thing
- 4:23on Fridays. It's a tradition. It's called what do you do? But
- 4:26wait, but wait, what Today's Wednesday? Oh yeah it is, doesn't
- 4:29it? Well, what the heck? Let's do it anyway. Okay,
- 4:30let's make a Thanksgiving theme. Ladies and gentlemen play along in the car.
- 4:35We give each other hypothetical situations that really just test you as a person,
- 4:40as a man, and it's called what do you do? Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving?
- 4:46The James would you like to do the honors as a guest? As
- 4:49a special guest of the show, would you like to begin? I would
- 4:53love to. Okay, here we go. All right, right, it's
- 4:56tomorrow, Okay, Thanksgiving Day. I can imagine it's a day filled with
- 4:59food, naps, libations, family and football. Oh yeah, you're settling
- 5:03in to watch the game and realize, oh no, there's no Internet where
- 5:08I'm hanging out. No worries. They've got old trustee, the wired cable
- 5:12connection. So you won't miss a minute of the packers packing things or whatever
- 5:15they do. They playing the Lions, that's right. Yeah, But a
- 5:18rumbling from the crowd begins and a consensus arises that everyone at your Thanksgiving wants
- 5:23to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade instead. There's only one TV, no internet
- 5:28even on your phone. Pike. Wow, you came right out the gates
- 5:34with it. Holy God, it's a challenge. What do you do?
- 5:39Well, funny enough, James, I've already taken every precaution to make sure
- 5:44this situation doesn't happen. How there's no internet? Well, we're going to
- 5:47my wife's in her family in Duluth, right, and so first time going
- 5:51there for the Thanksgiving holiday. And so I've made sure because historically at my
- 5:56home as a packer fan, diehard packer fan, never missed a in it
- 6:00of a packers And that's your whole family is packers. No, no,
- 6:01no, I'm the only one. I'm the real black sheep. Wow.
- 6:04So even at home, if the Vikings a lot of times won't play on
- 6:08Thanksgiving a it's more of a packer's Lions thing. And so I'm married.
- 6:12I've made the whole family change the time of the meal depending on which game
- 6:15the Packers play. Wow, I've made sure my wife has talked to her
- 6:19family. Everybody's on board with watching the Packer game. The meal will not
- 6:24be during the hours of eleven thirty am and three pm. I've already made
- 6:28sure that. But let's pretend you're a hypothetical situation. He is reality.
- 6:30But on Thanksgiving, you know, a man knows what he wants, and
- 6:34so what would I do if everyone else wanted to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade?
- 6:39I would volunteer to go pick something up from the storm paper plates,
- 6:44more wine, okay, anything, now we're talking, and I would get
- 6:46lost at a bar that maybe was open on Thanksgiving Day and I would watch
- 6:49the game there. Honestly, that's that. That answers making me tear up
- 6:53a little bit. That's beautiful, thank you. Honestly, ingenious, diabolical
- 6:58yet simple. That's what I would do. Boy, he's been gone a
- 7:00long time. Wait, well, it's hard to find a store that's open
- 7:03on the day like today. You know, I really gotta look. I'm
- 7:05all the way here in Wisconsin. Whoops, Oh hey, a Packer bar.
- 7:10He went. He literally went to Green Bay. Well, actually,
- 7:14you know, De Luth is right across the bridge from Superior, Wisconsin.
- 7:15So I've actually, when I've gone back, we go over across the bridge
- 7:18to be with my own people to watch the games. That's really sweet.
- 7:21All right, James, your turn, yep, speak of the devil.
- 7:25You're up early watching the ninety seventh running of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
- 7:30Is it really the ninety seventh row? It is? Wow. Now,
- 7:32as the famed Snoopy float is making its way across the TV screen, some
- 7:39crazed man fires a flaming arrow directly into the snout of the beloved Peanuts character,
- 7:46tearing a hole in the float. Now, as the nation watches in
- 7:50horror as the Snoopster rapidly deflates your cell phone rings, it's the director of
- 7:56the parade. No, the parade master. Yes, well, he says
- 8:01James, quick, we need an idea to replace Snoopy in the parade.
- 8:05Name a character and or person that we should replace him with to make a
- 8:09float out of So James, wow, yeah, this is a lot of
- 8:15pressure. Yeah, the world is watching. What do you do in your
- 8:22scenario? They can just craft a quick float out of anything, yep.
- 8:26They're ready to make it whenever you give them the word. Just a matter
- 8:30of what I think I wouldn't respond with. I would respond in song,
- 8:33Pike, okay, and I would begin singing, you ain't never had a
- 8:39friend like me. Oh the genie the g from Aladdin, from Aladdin,
- 8:45boom, blow him up. Let's go Robin Williams and cartoon. Right,
- 8:48Holy cow, that's amazing. I would love that, big blue beautiflue,
- 8:54son of a god man, man, tell you what the genie would We'd
- 8:58forget Snoopy ever existed. It's been five thousand here. It is such a
- 9:03crick in the neck. Got amazing. Okay, great choice. I love
- 9:07that in the movie when Aladdin gets gets him over his skis a little bit
- 9:11and he goes, oh, I feel sheepish, and he turns into a
- 9:13sheep and he goes, all right, you bad boy. He's so good,
- 9:16every line ever, so good. Friend Sally, all right, Holley
- 9:22up, Bob. This is now an Aladdin appreciation segment. I love that
- 9:26movie so much. Good. Alright, your turn, Oh yeah, that's
- 9:31right. After doing Pike, you've been tasked at your Thanksgiving tomorrow as gravy
- 9:37boy. Okay, sounds familiar. You must concoct a delicious, creamy brown
- 9:41jewe that delights all lips. It hits. You take on the challenge with
- 9:46gusto. As you're whisking together the culinary masterpiece in all its delightful smoothness,
- 9:52a fly, also wanting to enjoy this, the gravy to end all gravies,
- 9:56buzzes by your head and right into the suck sauce. Now, because
- 10:03of the viscous nature of said gravy, the fly can't escape and drowns.
- 10:07You're the only one who witnessed this tragedy, Pike. Hmm, belly up,
- 10:16Huh, what do you do? He's dead? I just I don't
- 10:22know. I scoop him out of there with my hand, which I've already
- 10:24been using to sample the great Right you do the finger sample. You don't
- 10:28have a of those spoons. What they don't know won't hurt them, That's
- 10:31what I say. That's my guy. So I'm pulling that fly right out
- 10:33of there. I'm attempting CPR, of course, then of course i'd move
- 10:37on, all right, James. Final, what do you do? Thanksgiving?
- 10:39Themed You're exhausted after a significant meal, Yep, the dishes are done
- 10:46and you've lied down in a spare bedroom for a signature Thanksgiving day. Nada
- 10:52that feels good already. Suddenly your aunt Bernice opens the bedroom door without knocking.
- 10:58Mind you, Bernie, she said as James h James, the adults
- 11:03are sitting down for coffee and sharing stories from our childhoods. Come and join
- 11:11us, would you? You're exhausted, So, James, you sound exactly
- 11:16like my Apernice. That's how did you know I had an ampernee? Who'ld
- 11:20you believe me if I said I knew her? Yes? In high school?
- 11:24You do know a lot of people. What do you do most?
- 11:28I want to know about the relationship that you have with my Ampernice. I
- 11:31just want to know it sounds like care to share it? Oh? What
- 11:33good? Because I don't want to hear it? Pike? Right, I
- 11:37would have to fake sleeping, Pike. I would begin this, I would
- 11:41I would begin this move. Ah okay. One of Bernice doubles down.
- 11:48James, Why and you do that move where you're like and you roll over.
- 11:52You're gonna keep You're gonna carry it out all the way. Just tell
- 11:56the point of what you're faking dad at this point. I mean fake dad
- 11:58at that, but I mean, honestly, I will fake sleep until I
- 12:01actually do fall asleep. You think she's gonna run up to me and shake
- 12:03me. It really SEMs desperate. Really when I know of her from high
- 12:09school. Yeah, she'll do whatever it takes. I get Amana in the
- 12:13morning, did ninety point seven trending. Now here's what you need to know
- 12:18in for Amanda Leie. It's James filling in with some breaking news. Two
- 12:24turkeys were pardoned at the North Dakota State Capitol yesterday in an annual tradition that
- 12:28also promotes ranching and agriculture. As a part of the eventa federation also donated
- 12:31sixteen not so lucky frozen turkeys. Oh those poor boys. That's tough each
- 12:37to the uh. They went to a good cause though, Heaven's help her
- 12:39Soup Cafe and the Abused Adult Resource Center in Bismarck. You know, that's
- 12:43great that the one turkey or the two of them got pardon. Hopefully they're
- 12:46male and females so they can make some more. You know what I'm saying.
- 12:48Well, hell, you know, but we can't have all pardon turkeys
- 12:50out here. Image. If they keep breeding pike, we won't have any
- 12:52turkeys for us. You know. It's a I hate to get nitty gritty
- 12:56with it, but behind the scenes is not pretty. I mean, they're
- 12:58not turkeys. But my dad would raise chickens, you know, and you're
- 13:01saying chickens are not turkeys. No, No, they're not. They're not.
- 13:05They're in the same I would say, ballpark, you know what I
- 13:07mean. Similar, But he would have me and my brother come over to
- 13:11do the dirty work when it was time to butcher these chickens. A little
- 13:13butcher but yeah, I had to finally tell him, no, I'm like
- 13:16that, if you're going to do these chickens, you have to hire it
- 13:20out. I'm not coming over. I'm not putting one more hatchet through the
- 13:22neck of a turkey our chicken, you know what I'm saying. Anyway,
- 13:26after how many chickens did you decide this? Six thousand? I can't talk
- 13:31about it, dude. It's too many. Are you so hard? It's
- 13:33so many turkeys, so many chickens, your life, dozens hundreds of chickens.
- 13:39Bloodbath over there, absolutely, you know, hose each other off.
- 13:43My brother and I after it was all said and done, blowing feathers out
- 13:46of your mouth. No doubt Jim had nothing to do with the chickens,
- 13:58well said, I well said. Here we go one, mister. Jim
- 14:07Carrey is not planning on returning to Whovill anytime soon. Despite reports online claiming
- 14:11a sequel the two thousands live action How the Grinch Stole Christmas was in the
- 14:16works with Carrie attached to return. A rep for the actor tells people those
- 14:20reports are inaccurate. There's no truth to Jim reprising his role as the Grinch
- 14:24in a sequel to The Grinch. Yeah. I've seen this a bunch on
- 14:26Facebook. I get so annoyed of people spreading this misinformation because it's obviously a
- 14:31fake post. If you have any sort of Internet wherewithal at all, you're
- 14:35attacking me directly, right, did you share the post or what? Because
- 14:37I've seen people I know in respect sharing it. I'm like, guys,
- 14:39if you're gonna hear this, it's going to come from like a reputable source,
- 14:43right not. I LoveFilm dot India, dot net, you know what
- 14:48I mean? Dot blog Spot. I do love that website. Though I
- 14:52get all my information there it's a good sign. It is too bad because
- 14:54you know, well, first of all, the Grinch the story was kind
- 14:56of the story. There is no equal to the Grant. You would have
- 15:01to make something up fairly happy ending. Yeah, I think so. I
- 15:03think they all, you know, lived in peace and harmony down there on
- 15:07Whoville. It's such a good movie. I love that film. It's become
- 15:09one of my favorite, probably a top three Christmas must watch for me.
- 15:11Yeah, that's a good one, you know. But I don't think Jim
- 15:13Carrey's doing movies anymore at all. No, he's mostly just waxing poetic on
- 15:18the Internet and talking about philosophizing. Yeah, he's a philosopher, all right.
- 15:22He does a lot of painting. I know that, but I didn't
- 15:24know that. Yeah, he's a very interesting man, very artistic one.
- 15:28Just one of the best of all time. It's Soliday season. Oh and
- 15:35Doc, don't forget to hang up your suck. I'm sorry. I had
- 15:41to do the whole thing. Love. We just went the whole way with.
- 15:43Martha Stewart has put the kaibosh on rumors that she canceled her Thanksgiving hosting
- 15:46this year due to being turkeyed. Out, she said she is indeed busy
- 15:50speaking of internet rumor, right, this one took off yesterday. I mean,
- 15:56it's not even true that I love movies. I love Martha dot com
- 15:58dot net totally said this too, and she said she is indeed busy prepping
- 16:03to bake thirty pies and getting ready to cook a stuffed and roasted twenty pound
- 16:08organic heritage bird. Oh heritage the best. Now, it's gotta be tough
- 16:14being Martha, because as rich and famous as you are, like you wouldn't
- 16:17have to cook, you know, when you're that rich, But because you're
- 16:19Martha Stewart, it's sort of an obligation. She's probably barking orders to other
- 16:25people though, right you think so? You think she's just watching, micromanaging
- 16:27everything. You don't think she's getting her hands dirty. I don't think she's
- 16:30not throwing the old oven mits on. I think she's diving her mits into
- 16:34the old flower bucket. You know what I'm saying. I hear you partly
- 16:38cloudy forty six today, Sonny and twenty six for the high on thanks to
- 16:42twenty six and forty six today, Big dip, big diperu. But you
- 16:47know you're gonna be inside eating all day anyway, so who cares? Dipper
- 16:49Reno good news. So I did see not any precipitation in the in the
- 16:52forecast, knock on granite. But hopefully the travels will be nice and safe
- 16:57for everybody. Bike get a man in the morning, Come on, get
- 17:00up on big fight. Oh yeah. Fighting, It's just part of any
- 17:10relationship. The couples that say they never fight, they don't have a chance,
- 17:14right. You gotta be a real couple. You fight. That's just
- 17:15how it goes. However, there are certain things that should not be a
- 17:19fight. Little petty things. OK, so these are if you're going to
- 17:22be in a healthy relationship, you can't be fighting about these things. Now,
- 17:26James, would you consider yourself a relationship man at the time? All
- 17:29right, so take notes here and now I've of course been married for some
- 17:33time. TV and movie viewing preferences these should not lead to arguments. We
- 17:37talked earlier about last night, the sacrifice I made James, as we were
- 17:41watching I think another episode of Family Kai and my wife said, Hey,
- 17:45at seven, we're either gonna watch vander Pump Rules or Real Housewives or one
- 17:51of those shows, or dancing with the Stars because they're doing a Taylor Swift
- 17:53theme tonight, and I thought, well, I don't like either of those
- 17:57things, so why would we watch those That's what I said in my head.
- 18:00Because you don't want to fight about it. And there's plenty of times
- 18:03where we watch football when she would rather be watching anything else, we decided
- 18:07to watch Dancing with the Stars. Oh anyway, So do you guys find
- 18:11a sword? You and your friend, you find yourself fighting about TV stuff?
- 18:17Good, give a lot of similar taste interest. Really never watch it.
- 18:19It's really weird. Just can't stop kissing. Huh. It's exactly right
- 18:23home to core, all right, Chores, housework, arguing over renovations.
- 18:27Things like these should not be an argument in your relationship. It's a huge
- 18:32waste of time, certainly energy. Chores, well, chores, Yeah,
- 18:36chores and housework. It's all under the same umbrella, you know. I
- 18:40feel like that's kind of a big ask. It's easy to get into it
- 18:42about you know, who's doing because the odds are it's not a fifty to
- 18:45fifty split of who's doing. It shouldn't be. It's not right, it
- 18:48shouldn't. But sometimes it leans more toward one hundred zero and then it becomes
- 18:53a discussion. Hold on a bet at Pike? What I felt like that
- 18:56was personal? No, it's gotten a lot better, James. But there
- 19:00used to be some occasions where I would think out loud. A lot of
- 19:03times I would say, you know, if I weren't to clean the bathroom
- 19:07or wipe up the counters, would anybody ever you know? Or one of
- 19:10those things where how long would the garbage just pile up? Have you ever
- 19:14tested it? Yeah, well, not with my wife, but with roommates
- 19:17before it's over. The favorite, my favorite is when they start to set
- 19:22the garbage on the side. I love that we get a little piled on
- 19:25the side, solid anything to not take the bag out of there. I
- 19:29like to stick my foot in it and just stomp it down, just to
- 19:30make sure that I don't have to take it out. Equal amount of work,
- 19:33but somehow feels like less work. That's right, real trash compactor you
- 19:37are. Yeah, well that's what they call me. You're in laws,
- 19:41another little petty thing you should never be fighting about if you're going to be
- 19:44in a healthy relationship. You have in issues, Uh No, I mean
- 19:48I have in the past. Yeah, but I don't know. You know,
- 19:51it's funny. It's one of those things where you just kind of hopefully
- 19:55have an agreement where you can make fun of them together though, because that's
- 19:56that's just fun ideally. But then again, some people don't like when you
- 20:00make fun of their family, even if they don't like them either. I
- 20:02always have to lead the charge. I make fun of my own family,
- 20:03and I make it okay. I create a safe space, Pike. That's
- 20:07good because sometimes even if you are saying things about your own family, it's
- 20:11like, hey, I can say that you can not you know what I
- 20:15mean, I don't know. I dog on them. Who cares, you
- 20:18know? And then finally healthy relationships with what they never fight about James hobbies
- 20:22and spending time apart while you might get annoyed. And I know this one
- 20:26hits close to home if my wife is listening, because as an avid golfer
- 20:30in the summer months and there's not many of them here, spend a lot
- 20:33of time at Rose Creek Public Golf Course. Well, you know, Pike
- 20:36absence makes the heart grow fonder. So what you're really doing is you're creating
- 20:40the need for Pike exact and that's what it's all about. You know what,
- 20:44when I finally after sunset return home from the golf course, what she's
- 20:48getting is a better drunker version of me. And that's what really is important.
- 20:52She is in for it at that point. And Amanda in the morning
- 20:56on sage, you're ready ready, that's he is piping hot today, So
- 21:03hot nom Amanda stills. Let's see you, let's see brought to you by
