- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, what's happening everybody? Welcome into this edition of the
- 0:13check O Daily. It's Andrew Decheco Eagles Chiefs tomorrow, but
- 0:19as promised, the final podcast of the week, and it
- 0:24centers around the roster moves that the Eagles made Saturday
- 0:28at four o'clock. To no surprise if you've been listening
- 0:32to the podcast, but tight end Cameron Lattu the Eagles
- 0:35still listen him as a tight end. He was elevated
- 0:38from the practice squad to the active roster, and so
- 0:41was safety Marcus Epps from the practice squad to the
- 0:45active roster. Those were the eagles two elevations this week.
- 0:48I mentioned EJ. Jenkins potentially as another one, but those
- 0:52were the three players that I discussed yesterday as logical
- 0:56elevations for this game. Reminder, each player gets it's three
- 1:00elevations this season before the team has to make a
- 1:03decision to sign them to the active roster or leave
- 1:06them on the practice squad. This is Marcus Eeps's second elevation,
- 1:10the first for Cam lat two. First NFL game for
- 1:13Cameron lat two, and he was a twenty twenty three
- 1:16third round pick of the San Francisco forty nine ers.
- 1:20He had a meniscus injury in preseason of his rookie year,
- 1:24was put on ir then he was waived the following summer.
- 1:28Spent a time with the Cleveland Browns practice squad last season,
- 1:32and then signed a reserve futures deal with the Eagles
- 1:34in late January and was with the Eagles through training camp.
- 1:38What I can tell you is really more or less
- 1:42what I've been saying over the past few podcasts, and
- 1:45that is that he is a physical player. He moves
- 1:48pretty well for the position. And when I watched him
- 1:51in training camp, and granted the reps were pretty infrequent,
- 1:55and that's the case when you're that far down to
- 1:58the pecking order, there weren't many tight ends that could
- 2:02ward off Johad Campbell when he's attacking downhill. But there
- 2:05were a couple instances where I noticed that cam Lattu
- 2:09stonewalled or at least gave Campbell a fit at the
- 2:13point of attack. So he's going to bring some physicality
- 2:17on Sunday. I'm expecting him to take a big role
- 2:19on special teams. Maybe you'll even see him at full back. Remember,
- 2:23Wednesday was the first day that he even moonlighted at
- 2:26full back, So that's kind of what I'm expecting from
- 2:30his role. And then for Marcus Epps, again, the Eagles
- 2:33just have three safeties on the fifty three man roster
- 2:35currently and that could also change, but I think, you know,
- 2:42knowing that they have Cooper Degene, they can do it.
- 2:44If you listen to Vic Vango, they like to keep
- 2:47him at nickel if they can not move him the
- 2:50outside corner, not move him to safety. They want to
- 2:53keep him right there at that nickel role, knowing how
- 2:55vital it is to the overall functionality of the defense
- 2:58and how effective Coup is in that role already among
- 3:02the best nickel corners in the NFL, and that certainly
- 3:04is not hyperbole. So Marcus Epps will probably take on
- 3:10a big special teams role as well, who knows, maybe
- 3:13even see the field in sub packages, but I think
- 3:16his primary role on game day is going to be
- 3:18on special teams. He may be a player that the
- 3:21Eagles look to eventually sign. We talk about the elevations
- 3:24as this being his second but then there is also
- 3:27another move and rookie offensive tackle Cameron Williams went to Texas,
- 3:35Leagles drafted him in the sixth round. Well, today the
- 3:39team put him on injured reserve, where he joins fellow
- 3:43rookie offensive tackle Miles Hinton, who went to Michigan. I
- 3:47thought Hinton was the more polished of the two, and
- 3:50I don't believe it was even close. But it's also
- 3:53important to mention that Cameron Williams started just sixteen games
- 3:58in college, still really new to the position. Like the size,
- 4:03he has a lot of athletic traits that are worth developing, certainly,
- 4:07and the Eagles believed that had he stayed at Texas
- 4:12for another year, he probably would have been a Day
- 4:15two pick. So you got good value there, and then
- 4:17you leave it to Jeff Stoutlind to continue to work
- 4:20with him, or at least I guess at this point,
- 4:23have him in the meeting rooms and really develop the
- 4:27mental side of things, and then he'll have an opportunity
- 4:29to earn a roster spot next offseason when Ohta's roll on.
- 4:34But not really a surprise, he goes on ir with
- 4:37the shoulder injury. He was a limited participant Thursday Friday,
- 4:41he didn't practice at all, and for a developmental player
- 4:46like Cameron Williams, it just makes a lot of sense.
- 4:51It made a lot of sense, but then you have
- 4:52the shoulder that factored into it. And now the Eagles
- 4:56have an open roster spot on the fifty three. They're
- 4:58going to carry fifty two players into tomorrow's game, and
- 5:03I guess it begs the question if they didn't just
- 5:06outright sign Marcus Epps to the roster, or they didn't
- 5:10make another move to fulfill that roster spot with another
- 5:14player that was already in house from the practice squad
- 5:17and sign them. Maybe the Eagles are looking from for
- 5:22an outside candidate or have their eye on an outside
- 5:25candidate that they wish to sign early next week. We'll
- 5:28have to keep an eye on how that all shakes out,
- 5:30but as it is, the Eagles are carrying fifty two
- 5:33players in those are the three roster moves again, Eagles
- 5:36elevating safety Marcus Epps, tight end Cameron Latsu, and placing
- 5:42rookie offensive tackle Cameron Williams on injured reserve, where he
- 5:46now joins fellow rookie offensive tackle Miles Hinton. That's just
- 5:52a quick podcast today, just a quick recap of the
- 5:55Saturday transactions, and there's gonna be plenty to dissect plenty
- 5:59to digest. Tomorrow, after the game, I'll do another podcast
- 6:04and we're gonna keep this thing rolling. This has been
- 6:07to check O daily. I'm Andrew to Checko and I'll
- 6:09talk to you tomorrow
