- 0:07Speaker 1: believing it will give them the future they want in America.
- 0:09Speaker 1: A growing part of this turn toward President Trump's agenda
- 0:13Speaker 1: black voters. This change may be going under the radar,
- 0:16Speaker 1: but the movement, it is definitely not underground. And in
- 0:18Speaker 1: Tonight's Prime Focus, ABC's Avery Harper takes us inside the
- 0:21Speaker 1: world of people who identify as young, Black and Mega.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I am a Karen.
- 0:33Speaker 3: It's nighttime in the DC party scene. But this isn't
- 0:37Speaker 3: just any costume party. It's packed with a political message.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I don't talk to the media.
- 0:42Speaker 3: What is your Halloween past?
- 0:44Speaker 4: HAWKEM Jeffries.
- 0:45Speaker 3: This crowd is partying the magaway to make America great again,
- 0:50Speaker 3: movement despised by some across the country, loved by those
- 0:54Speaker 3: in this room.
- 0:55Speaker 2: This is just a great time for young conservatives to
- 0:57Speaker 2: come together, meet each other and make America party. C J.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Pearson at the center of it all. It's a night
- 1:04Speaker 3: part time party hosts and full time mega influencer.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You bossy lesule College, and you lost the popular vote
- 1:10Speaker 2: because Democrats are insufferable. Don Trump isn't just making DC
- 1:13Speaker 2: safe again.
- 1:14Speaker 3: He's gonna get healthy again.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Because I can finally go on my hopwood walks again. Y'all,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to pop all for a little bit.
- 1:20Speaker 2: The travelism in the black community needs to end.
- 1:23Speaker 3: He's one of the rising stars of MAGA.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Here are you sureing love?
- 1:29Speaker 3: Maybe his presence so undeniable even rap Royalty brick Ross
- 1:34Speaker 3: comes through to perform.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I think these parties have given a little bit of
- 1:42Speaker 2: confidence boosts to a love young Conservatis who for a
- 1:44Speaker 2: long time thought there weren't many people out there like them.
- 1:47Speaker 3: But Pearson is also using his presence to carve a
- 1:50Speaker 3: lane for more young black conservatives in the Grand Old Party.
- 1:53Speaker 3: What about the Mega Movement attracts you and makes you
- 1:56Speaker 3: want to bring other black people into the fold.
- 1:59Speaker 2: It's it's a movie that's putting America first, and that
- 2:01Speaker 2: means every American of every shade, of every color.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And it's not just Pearson. In recent years, a number
- 2:07Speaker 3: of black celebrities growing more vocal too in their support
- 2:10Speaker 3: of President Trump, from rapper Kodak Black to Amber Rose.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Elect Donald Trump President of the United States.
- 2:17Speaker 3: These voices helped Trump make significant gains among Black voters
- 2:21Speaker 3: in the twenty twenty four presidential election, nearly doubling his
- 2:24Speaker 3: support among them and energizing young black men in particular.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Black Americans, though still overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I caution the party to don't just assume that that
- 2:38Speaker 4: support that has been there for Donald Trump will translate
- 2:42Speaker 4: for the party.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Almost a year into office and exactly one year from
- 2:47Speaker 3: midterm elections, where does that support stand? A recent ABC
- 2:50Speaker 3: News Washington Post IPSOS poll showing eighty four percent of
- 2:54Speaker 3: Black Americans disapprove of Trump when.
- 2:56Speaker 4: It comes to black voters. I haven't heard enough from
- 2:59Speaker 4: the part already on the midterm message. We have the
- 3:02Speaker 4: White House, we have this Senate, and we have the House.
- 3:06Speaker 4: What are our deliverables at this point?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Well, I don't have to wear magahaw because I'm a
- 3:10Speaker 2: walking magahack.
- 3:11Speaker 3: The twenty three year old Pearson first went viral at
- 3:14Speaker 3: just thirteen with this YouTube video Here's the truth of
- 3:17Speaker 3: the matter, attacking then President Obama.
- 3:20Speaker 2: President Obama, you don't love America.
- 3:23Speaker 3: How did you turn that viral fame as a kid
- 3:27Speaker 3: into a cultural capital and political influence in this current
- 3:31Speaker 3: Republican Party.
- 3:32Speaker 2: For me, I've always believed that politics is downstream from culture.
- 3:35Speaker 2: If we win the culture war, that's how we change
- 3:37Speaker 2: the hearts and minds of America's young people. We've been
- 3:39Speaker 2: able to kind of make conservatism cool against his.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Conservative content, netting him over one million followers across social
- 3:45Speaker 3: media and capturing the attention of the President himself. Pierson
- 3:49Speaker 3: unapologetic in his pro trunk rhetoric.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So did all the liberals commenting on my videos.
- 3:53Speaker 4: You're black, how can.
- 3:54Speaker 6: You defend what they're doing to illegal aliens in America?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Maybe because I'm.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Not legal alien an aka I was in Georgia.
- 4:01Speaker 3: What do you say to those who say you're trolling
- 4:04Speaker 3: or race baiting?
- 4:05Speaker 2: Well, I think that they probably don't interact much with authenticity,
- 4:09Speaker 2: so when they see authenticity and action, it's something that's
- 4:13Speaker 2: unfamiliar to them. And so for me, I'm America first,
- 4:18Speaker 2: and that's my north star and Leo mcigrants have nothing
- 4:23Speaker 2: in common with them. Transgender folks of nothing in common
- 4:26Speaker 2: with them. I think everyone should be treated with decency
- 4:30Speaker 2: because of just how I was raised. But outside of that,
- 4:34Speaker 2: that's kind of where the similiarity is on. They are
- 4:36Speaker 2: literally being led astray.
- 4:38Speaker 3: His newest venture, launching the political podcast Family Matters.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It's good to see you all again. We have a
- 4:44Speaker 2: jam packed show ahead today where.
- 4:46Speaker 3: He and his guests speak their minds. There's a common
- 4:49Speaker 3: misconception that conservatives are roughty and boosy and we don't
- 4:53Speaker 3: know black people.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Maybe I'm a black as day. Come.
- 4:55Speaker 6: What they're doing for young conservatives and just young people
- 4:59Speaker 6: in general is really invaluable. It's about not voting identity
- 5:04Speaker 6: politics and really critically thinking about what matters to you.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Anna Marie Wiley first broke through on reality TV as
- 5:11Speaker 3: a castmate on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
- 5:14Speaker 6: I came up with this idea to have the ladies
- 5:16Speaker 6: over at my house for Mother's Day diamonds and champagne brunch.
- 5:20Speaker 3: But lately she's been an outspoken supporter of President Trump,
- 5:23Speaker 3: from being invited to the White House to appearing on
- 5:26Speaker 3: Fox News.
- 5:27Speaker 6: I voted for Joe Biden in twenty twenty, and it
- 5:29Speaker 6: wasn't until this election cycle that everything changed for me.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Wiley says her beliefs that transgender athletes shouldn't play in
- 5:36Speaker 3: women's sports is a part of why she chose to
- 5:39Speaker 3: vote for President Trump. That choice she believes cost her
- 5:43Speaker 3: friendships and an invite back on the Bravo show.
- 5:46Speaker 6: I was given such a bad edit on that show
- 5:50Speaker 6: and shown in that in such a negative light all
- 5:52Speaker 6: of a sudden, I'm transphobic. I'm a biggot, I'm this mean,
- 5:57Speaker 6: mean person.
- 5:58Speaker 3: In a statement to ABC News, a Bravo spokesperson writes
- 6:02Speaker 3: there was absolutely no truth to those claims, but Wiley
- 6:05Speaker 3: still wouldn't label herself as a full blown conservative and.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Really more moderate because there are many things Republicans believe
- 6:13Speaker 6: that I that I don't share the same values with.
- 6:16Speaker 6: I'm actually pro choice. I look at things on an
- 6:19Speaker 6: individual basis.
- 6:22Speaker 3: And black conservatism isn't a monolith. One of the major
- 6:25Speaker 3: boiling points recent controversies around racist comments within pockets of
- 6:30Speaker 3: the GOP. How do you reconcile your support for the
- 6:35Speaker 3: Republican Party with some of the ways that race can
- 6:40Speaker 3: be discussed in corners.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Of the party?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think a few voices so representationality the
- 6:44Speaker 2: Republican Party. The only leader of this party is President Trump.
- 6:47Speaker 2: President Trump, despite being called a racist, a bigot, a
- 6:51Speaker 2: white supremacist, almost ad nauseum by a liberal media that
- 6:54Speaker 2: despises him, was able to have the best performance among
- 6:58Speaker 2: minority voters of any republic look and nominee in half
- 7:01Speaker 2: a century, and so I think it goes to show
- 7:03Speaker 2: that black people are a lot smarter than the law
- 7:05Speaker 2: of those on the left give them credit for.
- 7:06Speaker 5: I think the inroads that Donald Trump made with minorities,
- 7:11Speaker 5: particularly black men and Hispanic men, frankly, it comes from
- 7:15Speaker 5: a different a different perspective. I think it's more a
- 7:18Speaker 5: failure of the Democratic Party to explain why they are
- 7:23Speaker 5: the champions of people of color.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Political commentator Tara Satmeyer is a lifelong Republican who became
- 7:30Speaker 3: an independent after the twenty twenty election.
- 7:33Speaker 5: People of color who are willing to align themselves with
- 7:37Speaker 5: this incredibly dangerous and self destructive nationalist, populist worldview, I
- 7:47Speaker 5: find it very difficult to digest.
- 7:50Speaker 3: What do you say to black Conservatives who have left
- 7:53Speaker 3: the Republican Party because they view President Trump and his
- 7:56Speaker 3: policies as detrimental to the black community.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Replaced them, We've replaced them with new blood in our
- 8:03Speaker 2: party that have come over and said that President Trump
- 8:05Speaker 2: is exactly what we need for this moment.
- 8:10Speaker 3: For Pearson, the future is young and bright. For black conservatives,
- 8:15Speaker 3: young people are the future.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I believe that the cultural winds that we're putting on
- 8:18Speaker 2: the board are moving the dial. We've got to horness
- 8:20Speaker 2: that because this energy is not always going to be
- 8:23Speaker 2: here
