- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Darby and Ferguson, they're all just outside the right tackle.
- 0:13Speaker 2: To the left side come Miller and Skinner. So Boyer's
- 0:16Speaker 2: not in there. And now the three guys to the
- 0:18Speaker 2: right splurge out wide.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Minchie. He can run it.
- 0:21Speaker 3: And he does!
- 0:22Speaker 1: Two points! And Kentucky wins the game in overtime! Oh
- 0:28Speaker 1: my goodness! Andre Woodson scored on the same kind of
- 0:33Speaker 1: play in regulation against LSU in 2007. They spread it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And they're on the field! how can you not get
- 0:41Speaker 1: cold chills listening to that all over again good morning
- 0:44Speaker 1: everybody this is just the cats my name is michael
- 0:47Speaker 1: bennett on this absolutely glorious monday october 12th and and
- 0:52Speaker 1: i i am still reliving this i can't tell you
- 0:54Speaker 1: how many times i watched it yesterday i've already watched
- 0:57Speaker 1: it again today and i i'm going to watch it
- 1:00Speaker 1: again i'm sure a lot more this afternoon uh If

- 1:06Speaker 1: do that, and you can text me on the Whiskey
- 1:09Speaker 1: Thief text line, 502-414-1450, and tweet me at Just the
- 1:12Speaker 1: Cat Radio. Justin Kalin is with me this morning. Justin,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I got to tell you, I have never had, I'm
- 1:20Speaker 1: just going, I know we said it a couple of
- 1:21Speaker 1: minutes ago. I've never had a better birthday week in
- 1:25Speaker 1: my entire life. And it is so much fun to
- 1:28Speaker 1: come in here on Monday morning and not talk about
- 1:31Speaker 1: a loss, but talk about another win. And UK is
- 1:36Speaker 1: the only school that has done this twice. since the
- 1:40Speaker 1: inception of the Overtime Rules back in, what was it, 1996, 1997.
- 1:43Speaker 1: This is just fantastic. How are you doing today?
- 1:48Speaker 4: I am great. I am not doing as good as
- 1:51Speaker 4: you and the rest of BBN, but I'm doing pretty
- 1:54Speaker 4: solid here on this Monday. Happy to be here.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear. Yeah, because y'all, you played a
- 1:58Speaker 1: little bit of a close one against Nebraska. Scary. Yeah. Scary.
- 2:02Speaker 1: But yeah, this was, it was strange. You know, I
- 2:07Speaker 1: I'm up there in the press box on Saturday night
- 2:09Speaker 1: at Commonwealth stadium, and I'm trying to get a drink
- 2:12Speaker 1: and then, uh, walk up, uh, uh, Jeff McCurl walks
- 2:15Speaker 1: up to me and I'm saying, we're just chit-chatting a
- 2:19Speaker 1: little bit. And, and I said, well, how do you
- 2:21Speaker 1: feel about this? He, his response was exactly kind of
- 2:24Speaker 1: like I felt. I hope we are just close. That's
- 2:28Speaker 1: all we were hoping for. Just a good game. Let's just,
- 2:30Speaker 1: let's keep it close. We don't want it to be
- 2:32Speaker 1: another situation where we're just getting totally blown out, but
- 2:36Speaker 1: you know, The first possession that LSU had, they just
- 2:40Speaker 1: marched down the field. Thank goodness, looking back at that,
- 2:44Speaker 1: UK defense only allowed them to get a field goal,
- 2:47Speaker 1: which I was happy with. And then UK just turns
- 2:50Speaker 1: around and CJ Baxter, who was just an absolute horse.
- 2:56Speaker 4: He is.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I mean, un-freaking-believable.
- 2:59Speaker 4: At least in that first half.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Second half, he struggled.
- 3:03Speaker 1: He did a little bit, but that was okay. Adjustments
- 3:06Speaker 1: happened at halftime for both teams. Successful adjustments, but not
- 3:10Speaker 1: enough for LSU. a little more for UK, but to
- 3:13Speaker 1: see him go that, that one, he made that one
- 3:16Speaker 1: long run and kept turning around. It's like, dude, don't
- 3:20Speaker 1: turn around. Look at the big jumbotron in front of you.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Watch that. Oh, exactly.
- 3:29Speaker 4: You're right.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I think he turned around. I know twice, if not
- 3:32Speaker 1: three times. And just somebody's got to coach him up
- 3:35Speaker 1: and say, dude, just look at the TV screen in
- 3:37Speaker 1: front of you. It's all you had to do. Just
- 3:38Speaker 1: keep running. And he would have scored. But, I mean,
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's just like, okay. At that point, I thought, man,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I'm yelling, by the way. I'm sorry. I'm excited. You
- 3:48Speaker 1: should be yelling. I am so excited. But at that point,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I thought UK is going to play a game here.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I really did. And I just had an eerie confidence
- 3:58Speaker 1: after that. And it was just, I mean, my mind
- 4:01Speaker 1: is going everywhere right now. I just want you to know.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm going to be able to
- 4:06Speaker 1: keep on one topic the entire show today, okay? That's
- 4:10Speaker 1: nothing new. Oh, come on. but you're acting like this
- 4:15Speaker 1: is abnormal. I know, but my mind is really going 50,000.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Usually it's about four or five different places right now.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It's going in a thousand different ways right now. So anyway,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you're going to have to keep me on topic just
- 4:27Speaker 1: to let you know. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. All right.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Because here's what I loved. I loved this game from
- 4:34Speaker 1: the very start, even before the start to the very end,
- 4:38Speaker 1: rich Brooks, uh, watching him come out all of a
- 4:41Speaker 1: sudden you see them come outside you know from uh
- 4:44Speaker 1: uh their practice facility over there uh across from the
- 4:48Speaker 1: stadium and uh all of a sudden you see will
- 4:51Speaker 1: stein on the screen smiling and i'm like what's good
- 4:55Speaker 1: what who's he smiling i thought oh it's probably his
- 4:57Speaker 1: mom and dad or something like that he's going to
- 4:58Speaker 1: give him a hug and then to have him seen
- 5:01Speaker 1: uh giving Coach Brooks, big hug coming on. It's like, okay,
- 5:07Speaker 1: now you lost me. I love this. Just the fact
- 5:12Speaker 1: that he brings back Rich Brooks, who's the last coach
- 5:16Speaker 1: to beat, well, no, it wasn't the last coach, but
- 5:18Speaker 1: who had that incredible 2007 win against, at that time,
- 5:23Speaker 1: number one. LSU, and have him walk out on the field.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And then Coach Brooks, I had to watch and see
- 5:30Speaker 1: how far. He jogged out there all the way to
- 5:32Speaker 1: the 40-yard line. He almost made it to the 50-yard line. But, see,
- 5:36Speaker 1: the dude, he's not young anymore. He's not a spring chicken.
- 5:39Speaker 1: How old is he? I think he's almost 80, if
- 5:43Speaker 1: not 80. And why don't you look it up real quick?
- 5:47Speaker 3: 85.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Is he 85?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I wouldn't have guessed that. Never mind. No, I would
- 5:52Speaker 1: have said, I wouldn't have been surprised if you told
- 5:54Speaker 1: me he was 78, 79.
- 5:55Speaker 4: That's my grandpa's age.
- 5:57Speaker 1: He is 85 years old. Or I should say years young.
- 6:01Speaker 1: He just looks great. He is by far my favorite
- 6:06Speaker 1: UK football coach. I've always loved Rich Brooks. The embrace
- 6:09Speaker 1: was really cool. It was. I just love that.
- 6:12Speaker 4: You could just tell how much... Will Stein respected him
- 6:16Speaker 4: and just how much he meant to Will Stein because
- 6:19Speaker 4: he was the coach when Will was growing up, right?
- 6:21Speaker 4: I mean, Will's my age, so he would have been, what, 7, 8,
- 6:25Speaker 4: 10 years old?
- 6:26Speaker 1: And then they really got to know each other when
- 6:29Speaker 1: Will Stein was out at University of Oregon. So that's
- 6:32Speaker 1: where they really got to know each other. And Will
- 6:35Speaker 1: Stein admits that he talked to him quite a bit
- 6:37Speaker 1: and became really good friends. So for this game, he
- 6:40Speaker 1: knew he had to bring it back. And I thought
- 6:42Speaker 1: that was tremendous. I mean, that really put the tone
- 6:45Speaker 1: on the game right there because everybody loved it. When
- 6:48Speaker 1: they saw Rich Brooks and the two, Will Stein and Brace,
- 6:51Speaker 1: the crowd went nuts. And before the game, the stadium,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you know, and it was supposed to be really bad weather. Now,
- 7:00Speaker 1: the stadium wasn't completely full, but I got to tell you, Justin,
- 7:03Speaker 1: it was 99% full before the game started. Oh, yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 1: By the time the game was going, it was full.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I mean, people showed up no matter what the weather
- 7:14Speaker 1: was looking at. And it was windy. Holy cow. And
- 7:16Speaker 1: it was loud.
- 7:17Speaker 4: But there wasn't too much rain, right?
- 7:19Speaker 1: No.
- 7:19Speaker 4: So I nailed that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It did not rain. If I remember correctly, I don't
- 7:24Speaker 1: think it rained at all during the game.
- 7:26Speaker 4: That's incredible. Because I told Dr. John on Friday, I said,
- 7:28Speaker 4: rain's not going to affect this game.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Did you really?
- 7:31Speaker 3: I did.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I said, maybe you get some drizzles here and there.
- 7:34Speaker 4: But I told him, I said, the thing you're going
- 7:35Speaker 4: to have to watch out for is the wind.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 4: So I'm glad that played out exactly like I said.
- 7:40Speaker 1: By the way, how'd John do? Great. Did he?
- 7:42Speaker 4: We had a lot of fun on Friday.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Okay, good. Yeah, because he asked me, he goes, Michael,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I thought you were going to call in Friday. And
- 7:48Speaker 1: I said, well, Justin told me not to. What? That's
- 7:52Speaker 1: not true. It is true. You said you got it
- 7:54Speaker 1: all covered. So I said, okay, I'm on. That's not
- 7:56Speaker 1: true at all. Oh, okay. Was I supposed to call in?
- 7:59Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't care either way. Oh, thanks. I
- 8:01Speaker 1: appreciate that. Uh, but anyway, uh, crowd was loud. The
- 8:06Speaker 1: crowd was early. And I got to tell you, UK
- 8:09Speaker 1: has really, they, we, you and I have talked about
- 8:13Speaker 1: the social media aspect of what UK has done this year.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Home runs. I mean, absolutely grand slams now going to
- 8:20Speaker 1: a game at night and all the light effects that
- 8:23Speaker 1: they have now on the stadium, on the cheerleaders, the band,
- 8:27Speaker 1: it's just unbelievable.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I mean, it was really cool.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It did.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Like I said, and during our crosstalk, it came across
- 8:34Speaker 4: well on TV, the whole light show thing, and then just,
- 8:39Speaker 4: it was awesome. The loudness of the crowd, just the
- 8:42Speaker 4: sheer amount of blue-white chants that came across my TV set, nuts.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I mean, you know, up in the press box, it's
- 8:50Speaker 1: pretty sterile, okay, because they got that glass, and you
- 8:52Speaker 1: can't open the windows or anything, and so you typically
- 8:57Speaker 1: do not hear the crowds. But through the glass in
- 9:01Speaker 1: the press box, you could hear it. And, I mean,
- 9:04Speaker 1: it was loud. The stadium was shaking. And just what
- 9:08Speaker 1: an incredible experience that was. But, anyway, buddy, I'm on
- 9:13Speaker 1: the radio. Can I call you back? Thanks. That's my
- 9:17Speaker 1: son calling me. I figured they'd know about it. No,
- 9:21Speaker 1: they just don't. I mean, good Lord. But, anyway. But, yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 1: The only part that worried me, though, LSU was really
- 9:30Speaker 1: exposing the linebackers too easily. Yeah, you didn't have any
- 9:34Speaker 1: of them. Exactly. I know. And they exposed it right away. But, yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 1: it was something else. But they moved the ball down
- 9:45Speaker 1: the field, which kind of bothered me. I wasn't upset
- 9:49Speaker 1: about giving up the three points. uh but i mean
- 9:52Speaker 1: this the 77 yard run to me by cj baxter
- 9:56Speaker 1: set the tone i mean i would have to say
- 10:00Speaker 1: my biggest complaint was probably Lane Kiffin coming out on
- 10:08Speaker 1: the field and complaining the entire time. That was exhausting. Yes.
- 10:13Speaker 4: He was literally killed. He killed the momentum on three
- 10:16Speaker 4: different occasions.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And that was intentional. Absolutely. And here's the thing. Will
- 10:22Speaker 1: Stein had had enough of it in the second half.
- 10:24Speaker 4: He did.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And then he started getting on the field. And it's
- 10:27Speaker 1: like the official came over and ran him off. It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 10:30Speaker 1: wait a minute.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that was funny to watch because he was like,
- 10:33Speaker 4: you could very clearly read his lips. And he's just like,
- 10:35Speaker 4: what are we doing?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Yeah. What are we doing? Oh, yeah, you could. I
- 10:39Speaker 1: didn't need binoculars to be able to tell what he
- 10:41Speaker 1: was saying. But it's like, wait a minute. You're running
- 10:44Speaker 1: Stein off the field, yet you're letting Kiffin stay out there.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It's like. Is there a Kiffin rule that he's allowed
- 10:52Speaker 1: to come out there and do as much as he did?
- 10:54Speaker 1: And the other part was the late timeouts. Yes.
- 10:58Speaker 4: How many late timeouts did LSU get? You all got
- 11:02Speaker 4: one as well, for what it's worth.
- 11:03Speaker 1: We got one.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 1: But, I mean, they got more, especially at timely possessions
- 11:10Speaker 1: for UK. It's like, that's interesting. But I didn't understand
- 11:15Speaker 1: the whole why Lane Kiffin was coming out in the field. Well,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I understand why he was doing it. I don't understand
- 11:20Speaker 1: why he was allowed to.
- 11:21Speaker 4: By the way, I did figure out one of the
- 11:24Speaker 4: reasons why I can't stand Lane Kiffin on Saturday.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Oh, now you've got me going now. After watching that game,
- 11:29Speaker 1: it's like, okay, I see why so many people don't
- 11:32Speaker 1: like him. He's getting on my nerves. But go ahead.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He wears a visor. What's wrong with the visor? I
- 11:41Speaker 1: just don't know that anyone should be doing that. Really?
- 11:44Speaker 4: I don't like visors. And especially when he has it.
- 11:46Speaker 4: You don't like it because he wears a visor. Especially
- 11:49Speaker 4: when his hair is all disheveled. Like the dude looks
- 11:52Speaker 4: like he's never seen a brush. So if you're going
- 11:54Speaker 4: to wear a hat that exposes your hair, at least
- 11:57Speaker 4: make your hair look presentable, not thrown a million different
- 12:00Speaker 4: directions the way it was.
- 12:01Speaker 1: All right. Name the coaches that you remember that wear visors.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Because I know. Number one, him. Yes. That's it. No,
- 12:09Speaker 1: there's more.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I don't remember any others.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Are you kidding me? Steve Spurrier was
- 12:15Speaker 1: famous for wearing a visor.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Okay.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Was his hair disheveled when he wore it? No,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but his hair wasn't quite as long either. That's the difference.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Kiffin's hair is longer than it should be. Spurrier kept
- 12:30Speaker 1: it cut close. Didn't John Gruden wear a visor as well?
- 12:32Speaker 1: I think Gruden was a visor. Yeah, see, I think
- 12:35Speaker 1: John Gruden was. Isn't Kirby Smart a visor wearer?
- 12:38Speaker 4: Probably so, yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 1: You know, I didn't realize how many there were. See,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm not alone here. If I remember correctly, I believe
- 12:47Speaker 1: Lane's dad, Monty Kiffin, wore a visor when he was
- 12:52Speaker 1: coach down at Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I don't know. What
- 12:55Speaker 1: is the.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Point of a hat?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Monty wore a hat. He did wear a hat?
- 12:58Speaker 5: Okay.
- 12:58Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Fair enough.
- 12:59Speaker 1: But I don't understand visors anyway. Can you? Because when
- 13:03Speaker 1: you wear a hat, it's supposed to keep you warm.
- 13:06Speaker 1: What was the point of a visor? Just to keep
- 13:08Speaker 1: the sun out of your eyes and that's it? Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 13:10Speaker 4: We got to reverse here.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:12Speaker 4: The point of a hat is to keep you warm?
- 13:14Speaker 1: The point of wearing a hat is to keep you warm.
- 13:17Speaker 1: That is correct.
- 13:18Speaker 4: That is not what I would have said. Because that
- 13:19Speaker 4: is where heat escapes. The point of a hat- Is
- 13:23Speaker 4: the top of your head. The point of a hat
- 13:25Speaker 4: is to keep the sun out of your eyes. That's
- 13:26Speaker 4: number one, yes.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But in the wintertime, the point of wearing a hat
- 13:31Speaker 1: is to keep you warm. Because heat escapes your body
- 13:35Speaker 1: from- Just a regular hat. Yeah. I don't know why
- 13:38Speaker 1: a regular hat wouldn't do that. I've just never heard that.
- 13:42Speaker 1: The heat escapes your body from the top of your head.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I do know that. But I've never heard the point
- 13:47Speaker 4: of wearing a hat is- Keep your body warm.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 13:50Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Okay. Well, there you go. You learn biology from Michael
- 13:54Speaker 1: Bennett on a daily basis.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I don't know if that's biology.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Ah, come on. What is it then? Science. Oh, science.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Which I guess is biology.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I love how you just change out your own mind
- 14:05Speaker 1: right there.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Anyway. You're in a different mood, too, today. I love
- 14:11Speaker 4: every second of it. I'm in a tremendous mood.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Are you really? Tell me why.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Because, I mean, this weekend just rocked. Like, I didn't
- 14:19Speaker 4: do anything particularly exciting. So I literally just sat around
- 14:24Speaker 4: all weekend and watched football. And that college slate on
- 14:26Speaker 4: Saturday was freaking awesome. Like, every game that I watched,
- 14:31Speaker 4: I took in probably portions of, upwards of 20, 25
- 14:36Speaker 4: games on Saturday.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 4: And it felt like every game that I turned on
- 14:40Speaker 4: was just awesome.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 14:42Speaker 4: I just, I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday watching college football
- 14:45Speaker 4: and then Yesterday, the NFL slate was a lot of
- 14:48Speaker 4: fun as well.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So, I don't know.
- 14:49Speaker 4: I'm just really happy on this Monday. And knowing it's
- 14:52Speaker 4: my birthday week, that might have something to do with it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. Listen, my horse trainer up there
- 14:59Speaker 1: in New York, Horacio DePaz, we'll talk about him a
- 15:02Speaker 1: little later. But he said, Michael, you have to go
- 15:05Speaker 1: play the lottery. This is your week to go play.
- 15:09Speaker 1: And I forgot to play the lottery. Don't play Powerball. Why?
- 15:14Speaker 4: Because you're not going to win Powerball. Go get you
- 15:16Speaker 4: some scratchers.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Somebody wins. I mean, might as well be you. Isn't
- 15:20Speaker 1: that their famous slogan? But it's never going to be you. Thanks.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That makes me want to go play right now. Go
- 15:27Speaker 1: play then. Why is it not going to be me?
- 15:30Speaker 1: It's just not. It's just not. Okay. God, that's the
- 15:34Speaker 1: most negative thing I've.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Ever heard somebody tell me. The odds are so stacked
- 15:37Speaker 4: against you at the Powerball. You are much better going
- 15:40Speaker 4: and buying like $ 20 worth of scratch-off.
- 15:43Speaker 1: All right, so what about Mega Millions? Is it the
- 15:46Speaker 1: same thing as Powerball? Exact same thing.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Well, and Mega Millions is worse because it's $ 5 a
- 15:51Speaker 4: ticket now instead of $ 2 like it used to be. Yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 4: why did they raise that? To build bigger jackpots. But
- 15:57Speaker 4: then every morning when I drive past that sign on
- 15:59Speaker 4: my way here, That's got the Powerball and the Mega
- 16:01Speaker 4: Millions numbers on it.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Powerball's always higher. Always. Is it really?
- 16:06Speaker 4: Every single day.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Huh.
- 16:08Speaker 1: That's interesting because, yeah, it's more expensive to play Mega Millions,
- 16:11Speaker 1: yet Powerball's the same price as it always was.
- 16:15Speaker 4: That's because people are still buying Powerball. If they moved
- 16:18Speaker 4: the Powerball up to $ 5 instead of $ 2, the sales
- 16:22Speaker 4: would go way down.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:24Speaker 4: And I think that's probably happened.
- 16:25Speaker 1: There's your Powerball Minute. You're welcome, Powerball Mega Minutes. You
- 16:28Speaker 1: just got free advertising from Just the Cats and you
- 16:31Speaker 1: didn't pay us a dime.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Just the Lottery.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, whatever. Just the Lottery. That's a great name.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I like that. UK finished the half with a touchdown.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I did like that.
- 16:40Speaker 2: 21-17.
- 16:40Speaker 1: God, that was huge. Time of possession. Here was the
- 16:44Speaker 1: crazy part with the first half. Did you see the
- 16:47Speaker 1: time of possession comparison? 20 minutes to LSU and UK
- 16:50Speaker 1: had nine.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Yep.
- 16:52Speaker 1: That's why that.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Touchdown before half was so big. Oh, absolutely that was big.
- 16:57Speaker 4: And for him to try to get that.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 4: The amount of stones on this guy.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Jeez, O.P. All right. Incredible. We're going to take a break.
- 17:08Speaker 1: But when we come back, I want to ask you
- 17:10Speaker 1: this question. Do you like Will Stein's aggressiveness? Don't answer
- 17:14Speaker 1: it right now. We're going to answer that as soon
- 17:16Speaker 1: as we come back. Because I think you just did.
- 17:18Speaker 1: But you are exactly right. Do you like Will Stein's aggressiveness?
- 17:22Speaker 1: You let me know. 502-414-1450. You want to text me
- 17:26Speaker 1: on the Whiskey Thief text line. Or you can tweet
- 17:28Speaker 1: me at just the cat radio. Or call in. Listen,
- 17:31Speaker 1: phone lines are open. If you want to call in
- 17:32Speaker 1: and talk about this game, I'll let you talk. I
- 17:35Speaker 1: don't interrupt you like other people do. So, anyway, just
- 17:38Speaker 1: I'm kidding. By the way, I ran into two people
- 17:40Speaker 1: I didn't want to run into in the press box. So,
- 17:43Speaker 1: there you go. Yeah, I was forced to say hello.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Did you have some Lord's chicken? How did you know that?
- 17:50Speaker 1: I did.
- 17:53Speaker 4: I'm good.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Okay. All right. Yeah, I took the bun off, but
- 17:56Speaker 1: I ate the chicken.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Attaboy.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Because the rest of the food was just gross. I mean,
- 18:00Speaker 1: they had, oh, never mind. It's a free meal. I
- 18:03Speaker 1: should be thankful. I'm thankful for that. So there you go.
- 18:05Speaker 1: All right, we got to take a break. We got
- 18:07Speaker 1: a long way to go. And I love it if you,
- 18:09Speaker 1: in a short time, to talk. So join us anytime
- 18:12Speaker 1: you want to. This is Just the Cats. Wait till
- 18:14Speaker 1: you see that sunshine day.
- 18:18Speaker 6: You ain't seen nothing yet. The best is yet to come,
- 18:25Speaker 6: and babe, won't it be fine?
- 18:28Speaker 3: The best is yet to come, come the day of mine.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I had a dream so big and loud I jumped
- 18:50Speaker 2: so high I touched the clouds.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I stretched my hands out to the sky We danced.
- 19:00Speaker 3: With monsters through the night I'm never gonna look back
- 19:05Speaker 3: I'm never gonna look back.
- 19:10Speaker 1: So, you know, this is American Authors, right?
- 19:13Speaker 4: That's correct.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I just saw them not too long ago in Nashville. Really?
- 19:17Speaker 1: They're pretty good.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Did they play this one?
- 19:20Speaker 1: They sure.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Are you kidding? That's their only song? They got some
- 19:23Speaker 1: pretty good songs, but that's probably their most famous one.
- 19:27Speaker 1: So when my son was a freshman at Pepperdine University,
- 19:30Speaker 1: they had parents weekend like a month into school. And
- 19:34Speaker 1: we flew out there to go to freshman weekend. And
- 19:38Speaker 1: Pepperdine had the American authors playing on campus, which was
- 19:43Speaker 1: really good. They were good. But they're a little older now.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So this was at Vanderbilt. But we can go ahead
- 19:49Speaker 1: and get to. the text line. I don't mind. 502-414-1450.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You want to text me on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 19:56Speaker 1: John here. Michael on Crosstalk. I was glad to hear
- 19:59Speaker 1: you had a great weekend. And I'm super excited for
- 20:02Speaker 1: our football cats. Unlike other teams, our schedule does not
- 20:06Speaker 1: do us any favors. But, hey, we will be ready
- 20:10Speaker 1: with Coach Time leading the way.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Hey, Coach.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Go for two or go home. I see, John, I'm
- 20:18Speaker 1: right there with you. I mean, we'll talk about, I
- 20:22Speaker 1: want to get through the rest of the game first
- 20:24Speaker 1: before we talk about the two-point conversion, but believe me,
- 20:26Speaker 1: we are going to talk about that two-point conversion. Just
- 20:29Speaker 1: absolutely amazing. One texter said, Michael, we have added a
- 20:34Speaker 1: new group of haters to BBN. We now have UofL, Tennessee, Arkansas,
- 20:41Speaker 1: and LSU. Oh, my God. It is unbelievable to see
- 20:47Speaker 1: the amount of LSU fans that are just belligerent on
- 20:51Speaker 1: social media. Have you paid attention to it at all, Justin?
- 20:54Speaker 4: I haven't, but I wouldn't call all those other fan
- 20:57Speaker 4: bases haters.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Would you? UofL? Absolutely. Tennessee? Absolutely. Louisville, maybe. No, Tennessee, definitely.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Are you kidding? Why would you not? Tennessee has always,
- 21:08Speaker 1: to me, been UK's biggest rival. It's not been UofL.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You can say UofL all you want. It's Tennessee to me.
- 21:15Speaker 4: But this, I mean, the way this season has played
- 21:17Speaker 4: out so far, I don't know how there could be
- 21:20Speaker 4: any animosity from other fan bases.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Because I look at it as a, like a, it's been.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Fun to watch. Like, I normally.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Well, not so much anymore now that I do Kentucky radio,
- 21:34Speaker 4: but prior to doing Kentucky radio shows, I would have
- 21:37Speaker 4: been mad about you all losing, but I don't, or
- 21:40Speaker 4: about you all winning, but I don't know that this
- 21:42Speaker 4: season I would have been because it's been a lot
- 21:44Speaker 4: of fun. I mean, just seeing Will Stein come in
- 21:46Speaker 4: and year one and doing the things that he's done.
- 21:48Speaker 4: It's been, it's been awesome to see from the outside
- 21:51Speaker 4: looking in.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I see. I would agree with you wholeheartedly. If, if,
- 21:55Speaker 1: When I look at social media, I see UofL fans,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Tennessee fans. You wouldn't believe the amount of Tennessee fans
- 22:02Speaker 1: that reached out to me and said, wow, we're rooting
- 22:06Speaker 1: for you, except when we play each other. I'm trying to...
- 22:11Speaker 1: Alabama fans, Georgia fans, I think it's resonated not just
- 22:17Speaker 1: the conference, but it's resonated the entire country. When you
- 22:20Speaker 1: have a team that is so much of an underdog,
- 22:22Speaker 1: had one of the toughest schedules in the country, and
- 22:25Speaker 1: come out and win with a first-time coach, people love
- 22:29Speaker 1: that story. And if you ask me, and I know
- 22:33Speaker 1: this is my bias, but I really believe wholeheartedly And sincerely,
- 22:40Speaker 1: that UK football is the story of the year so far.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 22:45Speaker 1: You can't tell me it's anybody else. I mean, we're
- 22:49Speaker 1: the only, UK is the only team in the country
- 22:52Speaker 1: that has beaten two top 10 teams. Nobody else has
- 22:56Speaker 1: done that. Georgia hadn't done that. Alabama hadn't done that. Well,
- 22:59Speaker 1: Notre Dame didn't play any top 25 teams. They did
- 23:01Speaker 1: this week. Yeah, but is BYU really? I don't think so.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But no, UK is the only team in the country
- 23:09Speaker 1: that has played and beaten two top 10 teams. Now, granted,
- 23:15Speaker 1: Texas A & M is not the team we thought,
- 23:16Speaker 1: but at the time they were ranked number ninth in
- 23:19Speaker 1: the country. LSU, maybe they're not the top 10 team
- 23:23Speaker 1: we thought, but UK still beat them. So you got
- 23:27Speaker 1: to give UK credit for that. And again, I go
- 23:31Speaker 1: back to the point. I don't care what team is
- 23:33Speaker 1: playing today. In the SEC. But when you go to
- 23:39Speaker 1: another team's home stadium and beat them in the SEC,
- 23:44Speaker 1: that's a feat. That is a big win. So, well,
- 23:48Speaker 1: you saw Tennessee barely surviving at Arkansas. Jeez, Pete. Which
- 23:52Speaker 1: was a surprise. It's more like an embarrassment. But LSU
- 23:56Speaker 1: fans are going nuts that the officiating was suspect within
- 24:00Speaker 1: the game. I don't think so. I didn't think so either.
- 24:04Speaker 4: I mean, it was a little suspect, but it wasn't
- 24:08Speaker 4: suspect on leaning one way or the other. I thought
- 24:11Speaker 4: there were bad calls both ways.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Typically, when there are bad calls, it goes against Kentucky.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I mean, that's been our life and history in Kentucky football.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Bad calls have always gone the way of Kentucky. Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: And I really thought with the punt for a run
- 24:30Speaker 1: back for a touchdown, I really thought they're going to
- 24:33Speaker 1: call his foot out of bounds.
- 24:35Speaker 4: It didn't look like it on TV. I didn't think
- 24:37Speaker 4: so either. But, man, it was close. That was a
- 24:39Speaker 4: huge play.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:41Speaker 4: That was so huge.
- 24:42Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Exactly. The only part I don't like, I want the score,
- 24:45Speaker 1: but the defense had to, it's like, oh, my gosh,
- 24:48Speaker 1: don't they need a little rest? I was worried about that.
- 24:51Speaker 1: So one person texted in saying the coach of Kentucky
- 24:55Speaker 1: is quickly changing and I'm here. I'm all here for it.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Cheeseburger Eddie. Oh, that's a great name.
- 25:03Speaker 4: I love it.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Cheeseburger Eddie. Okay. Can you put on here, change his name,
- 25:09Speaker 1: put his name up there where the number is? Because
- 25:11Speaker 1: he is now going to be.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Was that 406?
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Stop.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Is this somebody you know, by the way? No, but
- 25:19Speaker 1: I thought you were about to say the whole number.
- 25:22Speaker 4: No.
- 25:23Speaker 1: It's the Indiana area code. But yeah, Cheeseburger Eddie. I
- 25:27Speaker 1: like this. Cheeseburger Eddie, can you text back again and
- 25:30Speaker 1: explain to me why your name is Cheeseburger Eddie? Because
- 25:33Speaker 1: if you're going to tell me you have a restaurant,
- 25:35Speaker 1: I'm coming over there today for lunch. Because I'm kind
- 25:38Speaker 1: of in the moods for a Cheeseburger Eddie. So there
- 25:40Speaker 1: you go. All right, it's saved. That is so hilarious.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Cheeseburger Eddie. I love nicknames that people give each other.
- 25:49Speaker 1: One person said, let me get to the right one here. Okay.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Switch from sugar-free Red Bull to black cold brew this week.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Ew.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Oh, wow. As of now, I have the good jitters,
- 26:03Speaker 1: but the... Oh my gosh, you really want me to
- 26:10Speaker 1: read this? Yeah, read it. But the toilet will be
- 26:12Speaker 1: hearing from me shortly, and it won't like what I
- 26:16Speaker 1: have to say. I'm more amped and scootsy, a non-Who's
- 26:20Speaker 1: Your Fan, walking down the street, minding their own business.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Congrats on the win this weekend, Michael, and happy late birthday.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Florida State and the Bears are cheeks, and I will
- 26:30Speaker 1: hate sports for the rest of the week of it.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Happy Monday, everyone. That is the text of the day.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It might be the text of the month right there.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Thank you, Texter. That just put a big old smile
- 26:44Speaker 1: on my face right there. Never know what's coming from Illinois, Texter. No,
- 26:47Speaker 1: you don't. I mean, that guy makes me laugh so much. Michael,
- 26:52Speaker 1: I know why Lane Kiffin was allowed to come out
- 26:55Speaker 1: in the field. Haven't you seen the Dr. Pepper commercials?
- 26:58Speaker 1: I almost said Dr.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Pecker.
- 27:01Speaker 1: My dad used to say that all the time. How
- 27:03Speaker 1: about him having no guts on the fourth and one
- 27:06Speaker 1: that could have sealed the game? Funny stuff. Here's a
- 27:11Speaker 1: question I have for everyone out there, and I'll get
- 27:14Speaker 1: back to the question I promised I would ask last time.
- 27:17Speaker 1: But did Lane Kiffin get outcoached by Will Stein? Yes.
- 27:21Speaker 1: In a huge way, didn't he?
- 27:22Speaker 4: In a huge.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Well, I mean, maybe not. It was just.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I don't know that you could say he was outcoached.
- 27:28Speaker 4: It was just two different coaching styles. He was playing
- 27:32Speaker 4: more of the conservative play it safe style, whereas Stein
- 27:37Speaker 4: just gives no bleeps, and he's going to go for
- 27:39Speaker 4: it every time he can.
- 27:40Speaker 1: All right, so it goes back to that question. I
- 27:43Speaker 1: think that's a perfect segue. Do you like the aggressiveness
- 27:47Speaker 1: of Will Stein?
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I do. How can you not?
- 27:51Speaker 4: Not on every situation. I do think there were a
- 27:54Speaker 4: couple times where, especially that first time where he didn't
- 27:58Speaker 4: take the field goal and he went for it on, what,
- 28:00Speaker 4: fourth and two?
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Fourth and one or whatever it was.
- 28:02Speaker 1: UK could have won the game in regulation.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Well, especially if Zouagi's able to hit those two field goals. Oh,
- 28:09Speaker 4: that part too. No doubt you win that.
- 28:11Speaker 1: That would have been three other field goals right there,
- 28:14Speaker 1: nine points, and UK would have won by nine. Yeah.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 28:17Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, six or nine, I forget which
- 28:23Speaker 1: it would have been. So it would have been enough
- 28:25Speaker 1: to win in regulation. Can I bring up one of
- 28:28Speaker 1: their fourth down plays? Yeah, definitely.
- 28:29Speaker 4: So it was the, or maybe it might've been third down.
- 28:32Speaker 4: It was like third and 10 or third and 11.
- 28:34Speaker 4: It was when Barnes ran for 11 or 12 yards.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Do you remember the defensive formation that LSU put out there?
- 28:42Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 28:43Speaker 4: They just had their four linemen stacked behind one another.
- 28:47Speaker 4: And they all just, when the ball was snapped, they
- 28:49Speaker 4: all approached the line and went different. That was the
- 28:52Speaker 4: craziest defensive look that I think I've ever seen in
- 28:56Speaker 4: my entire life. And for all of the Kentucky linemen
- 28:59Speaker 4: to be able to pick up their man after all
- 29:02Speaker 4: that confusion and allow Barnes to run for that first down,
- 29:05Speaker 4: that to me was one of the plays of the game. Well,
- 29:07Speaker 4: did you like UK's version of the tush push? And,
- 29:11Speaker 4: of course, they lined up right there, and then they
- 29:14Speaker 4: scored the touchdown. But, oh, LSU got that late timeout call.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 4: And then UK was able to do it. Even LSU
- 29:22Speaker 4: knew it was coming, and they still couldn't stop it.
- 29:25Speaker 4: But they ran out to the left, right? Wasn't that?
- 29:28Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 29:28Speaker 1: This is where they ran straight up the middle. The
- 29:32Speaker 1: version of, what is it, Buffalo Bills or Eagles? Eagles, yeah. Yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: that do the tush push. It was awesome. And the
- 29:38Speaker 1: UK did it twice in a row. and lsu could
- 29:41Speaker 1: not stop it and uh it had to have blown
- 29:45Speaker 1: uh kiffin's mind away that okay oops i might be
- 29:49Speaker 1: coaching somebody that that could outmatch me.
- 29:51Speaker 4: If kiffin wants to say oops he needs to look
- 29:54Speaker 4: no further than that overtime period You watched the tape
- 29:59Speaker 4: of Kentucky, South Carolina. We all know that Lane Kiffin
- 30:03Speaker 4: and his coaching staff watched that tape. Why in God's
- 30:06Speaker 4: green earth, when you score, would you not go for two,
- 30:10Speaker 4: you freaking moron?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. It's like they weren't ready. What an absolute idiot. Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 1: That's where I think that Will Stein outcoached Lane Kiffin.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I am firm about this. You'll never convince me any
- 30:25Speaker 1: other way.
- 30:25Speaker 4: I think Kiffin just beat himself by overthinking crap.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Well, I think he did think about over. He fully
- 30:33Speaker 1: admitted after the game, I overthought a couple of things.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And he should have gone for it on the fourth
- 30:38Speaker 1: down in regulation and just let the clock run out.
- 30:41Speaker 1: But he didn't.
- 30:42Speaker 4: That was the other part. That decision was extremely goofy.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So now there was an article in the
- 30:51Speaker 1: USA Today this morning where Lane Kiffin not doing as
- 30:55Speaker 1: good as Chip Kelly. It's like, ooh.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Yikes.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And I thought, man, that's really bad. So a lot
- 31:05Speaker 1: of questionable things going on. And now is the LSU
- 31:09Speaker 1: fan base happy that they got Lane Kiffin? And now
- 31:14Speaker 1: if the season doesn't turn out that great, do you
- 31:15Speaker 1: think Lane Kiffin, well, did I make a mistake coming
- 31:18Speaker 1: to LSU and maybe I should have stayed at Ole Miss?
- 31:21Speaker 1: It don't matter.
- 31:21Speaker 4: He'll just jump to another SEC team. I don't know.
- 31:24Speaker 4: When Mike Elko gets fired, you'll see Lane at Texas
- 31:27Speaker 4: A & M.
- 31:27Speaker 1: But does Texas A & M really want him right now?
- 31:31Speaker 1: I don't. I still think he's a great coach. Don't
- 31:33Speaker 1: get me wrong. I think great's too strong. I don't.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I still think he is a great coach mind. I'll
- 31:40Speaker 1: give him good coach. I won't say great. What do
- 31:42Speaker 1: you think Will Stein is? I think we're still figuring
- 31:46Speaker 1: that out. Really?
- 31:47Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know that it's fair to classify
- 31:50Speaker 4: him one way or the other after six games, but
- 31:52Speaker 4: what we've seen through six games has been really, really good. Now, eventually,
- 31:57Speaker 4: you're getting away with the aggressiveness. Now, does the pendulum
- 32:01Speaker 4: eventually swing back the other way? Time will tell.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well, the missed field goals could have been the
- 32:07Speaker 1: demise of UK.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Absolutely. Well, and for him to trust Zouagi, to send
- 32:12Speaker 4: him back out there.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Well, exactly, yes.
- 32:14Speaker 4: That was like, because I'm sitting there on my recliner,
- 32:17Speaker 4: and he gives him that big hug after he misses
- 32:19Speaker 4: the second one, and doing the right thing for what
- 32:22Speaker 4: a coach should do.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. I didn't know that.
- 32:25Speaker 4: I really didn't think he would send him back out
- 32:27Speaker 4: for that last field goal. So credit to him for
- 32:30Speaker 4: having faith in Zalaga.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Well, see, I love he fully admitted what he said
- 32:33Speaker 1: after the game. He goes, I see you make him
- 32:35Speaker 1: every day at practice.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Just go out and make it. My roommate was so mad.
- 32:40Speaker 4: He was like, get the ball in the middle of
- 32:42Speaker 4: the field. This kicker cannot hit it from the hash marks.
- 32:47Speaker 4: And then, lo and behold, he ends up kicking and
- 32:48Speaker 4: hitting the last one from the hash. Did you think
- 32:51Speaker 4: UK would go for two?
- 32:53Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah, you did? Yeah. So did I. That was
- 32:55Speaker 1: never a question. It's like, no way, no way. Yeah,
- 32:58Speaker 1: he is. Of course he is. What am I thinking?
- 32:59Speaker 4: Now, can I tell you how superstitious I got in
- 33:02Speaker 4: that moment?
- 33:02Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 33:03Speaker 4: So, last week.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Against South Carolina, when he called for two, he did
- 33:08Speaker 4: kind of like the Texas Longhorn sign, like go for two.
- 33:12Speaker 4: And then this week, he just threw up his first
- 33:14Speaker 4: two fingers. And I'm like, Coach, you've got to do
- 33:18Speaker 4: it the same way you did it last week.
- 33:20Speaker 1: So I was.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Worried that they wouldn't be able to pick up that
- 33:23Speaker 4: two-point conversion just because of that. And I know that
- 33:26Speaker 4: seems like a small thing, but I watch those things.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Well, you heard Tom Leach say it at the beginning
- 33:31Speaker 1: of the show, at the end of the game Saturday night.
- 33:35Speaker 1: That's the same play that very, very similar to Andre
- 33:39Speaker 1: Woodson did back against LSU in 2007 in regulation.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 1: And I thought, wow, that's pretty cool to have homage
- 33:47Speaker 1: to Andre Woodson. I love that Kenny Minchie's wearing the
- 33:49Speaker 1: same number as him. I mean, there's just too many circumstances. Like,
- 33:54Speaker 1: they have to win this game.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I don't think there will be another two-point play. All
- 33:58Speaker 4: season long, that was as easy as that one.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Oh, it was.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I think you and I could have gotten a touchdown.
- 34:05Speaker 1: It was so open, it's not even funny.
- 34:08Speaker 4: That has to go to the play design. I mean,
- 34:10Speaker 4: taking those three guys that were on the right side
- 34:12Speaker 4: of the formation and spreading them out wide, that caused
- 34:15Speaker 4: so much confusion for the defense. And then next thing
- 34:18Speaker 4: you know, yeah, Minchie's got a lane that a 700
- 34:21Speaker 4: pound dude could have ran.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Exactly. All right. Well, you know, and winning to watch
- 34:25Speaker 1: this team win, it just makes this so much more
- 34:28Speaker 1: fun to do a show on Monday morning. It just does.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And I, I never, I got to eat a lot
- 34:34Speaker 1: of crow. I I'm telling you, I deserve, if you
- 34:37Speaker 1: want to make fun of me, cause I am the
- 34:39Speaker 1: guy right here, Michael Bennett. I'm looking right into the
- 34:42Speaker 1: straight into this YouTube camera right now. I'm the guy
- 34:45Speaker 1: that picked this team to win two games. And I
- 34:48Speaker 1: am so happy to say I am sorry to this
- 34:50Speaker 1: football team and to Will Stein. They're going to be
- 34:54Speaker 1: times three of that next week. Oh, well, I'm not
- 34:57Speaker 1: going that far yet.
- 34:58Speaker 3: I am.
- 34:58Speaker 1: All right. Well, we got a lot more to talk about.
- 35:00Speaker 1: We got to take a break. So, 502-384-1450. You want
- 35:03Speaker 1: to call 502-414-1450. You want to text me on the
- 35:07Speaker 1: Whiskey Thief text line. We'll get back to those texts
- 35:09Speaker 1: as well as soon as we get back. Man, we
- 35:11Speaker 1: got to go through a few of these stats because
- 35:12Speaker 1: there's some that really stuck out with me. Stay right there.
- 35:16Speaker 1: We got a lot more Just the Cats coming right up.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Join us.
- 35:37Speaker 3: I'm your fool Everyone's got the chains to break Holding
- 35:39Speaker 3: you Will you bother resist Or be abused Is someone
- 35:40Speaker 3: getting the best The best, the best, the best of
- 35:41Speaker 3: you Yeah, I want an appropriate song right.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Now when I'm getting ready to talk about this. CJ Baxter,
- 36:26Speaker 1: you said not so much second half. I would maybe
- 36:29Speaker 1: agree with that somewhat, but still, 19 carries, 123 yards.
- 36:33Speaker 1: The dude averaged six and a half yards a carry.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Well, I mean, that's helped when you have a 77 yarder.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Kenny Menchie, 23 to 36 for 246.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yards of passing. They played. Do you realize UK played
- 36:48Speaker 1: a clean game? Yeah, that's exact. No turnover.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Do you realize that's what I told you had to
- 36:53Speaker 4: happen on Thursday.
- 36:54Speaker 1: To get the win? Believe me, I thought about that
- 36:57Speaker 1: all weekend long.
- 36:58Speaker 4: And you got your couple of turnovers from LSU, just
- 37:01Speaker 4: like I said you needed to have happen.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Yep.
- 37:03Speaker 4: I mean, that game, not to toot my own horn
- 37:06Speaker 4: too much, but outside of calling the win, I was
- 37:11Speaker 4: spot on.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Weather.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:14Speaker 1: How the game had to play out. Yeah, you were.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I mean, I'm pretty good. All right. Let's talk about
- 37:17Speaker 1: defense though. Bo Barnes, the linebacker, 12 tackles, six solo,
- 37:23Speaker 1: two and a half for a loss. Grant Godfrey, linebacker,
- 37:27Speaker 1: 10 tackles, six solo.
- 37:29Speaker 4: He's the one that wears the guardian cap.
- 37:31Speaker 1: You are correct. LSU defensively had three tackles for loss. UK,
- 37:36Speaker 1: are you ready for this? UK had eight.
- 37:39Speaker 4: They put up a stat on the TV broadcast.
- 37:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 37:43Speaker 4: It was early in the second quarter about how Kentucky,
- 37:46Speaker 4: per average, a game this year is averaging four tackles
- 37:50Speaker 4: for loss.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 4: And at that point in the second quarter, they had
- 37:53Speaker 4: already had five.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Are you kidding me?
- 37:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Wow.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Well, you know, isn't it LSU supposed to be, like,
- 38:01Speaker 1: one of the top two or three defenses in the SEC?
- 38:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 1: And UK just ran all over him. UK offensively looked
- 38:10Speaker 1: so good. I was worried about linebackers, but... Because there
- 38:15Speaker 1: were a couple of, well, two or three that LSU
- 38:17Speaker 1: just moved down the field. We would have them backed
- 38:20Speaker 1: up because LSU would have a penalty, and it'd be second, third,
- 38:23Speaker 1: and long or something like that. And LSU would get
- 38:26Speaker 1: a first down. It's like, oh, man, this is just
- 38:28Speaker 1: killing me right now.
- 38:29Speaker 4: I mean, the story of this game really is that simple.
- 38:32Speaker 4: LSU shot themselves in the foot. Kentucky didn't.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Yeah, they did. LSU with the one turnover like you
- 38:37Speaker 1: just mentioned.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Two.
- 38:38Speaker 6: Now.
- 38:39Speaker 1: They had two in the fourth quarter, right?
- 38:40Speaker 4: Oh, that's right.
- 38:41Speaker 1: That's right. Red zone. It's got to improve. UK was
- 38:45Speaker 1: four of seven in the red zone, along with third
- 38:49Speaker 1: down attempts. They were five of 14. That's much better
- 38:54Speaker 1: than they had done this year so far. Yeah, you're right,
- 38:58Speaker 1: but that still scares me. UK had three sacks for
- 39:00Speaker 1: a loss, 22 yards, and LSU only had one. That's
- 39:04Speaker 1: an offensive line working for you right there. I wouldn't
- 39:07Speaker 1: read too much into the red zone stats. Okay, good.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Just because this is a game that you won, and
- 39:11Speaker 4: at least two of those occasions were just you didn't
- 39:14Speaker 4: get any points because of the aggressiveness of Stiles. Which
- 39:18Speaker 4: at those points in the game, I was okay with
- 39:20Speaker 4: those decisions. Unfortunate to not get points there. But at
- 39:23Speaker 4: the end of the day, when you look back at
- 39:25Speaker 4: the scoreline and you see the Kentucky one, it doesn't
- 39:27Speaker 4: really matter.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah. One person tweeted me at Just the Cat Radio, said, Michael,
- 39:34Speaker 1: what do you think of the host?
- 39:36Speaker 4: The host?
- 39:37Speaker 1: The game host.
- 39:39Speaker 4: What's her name?
- 39:40Speaker 1: I don't know. It's not necessary.
- 39:42Speaker 4: I've heard she's really good.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Really?
- 39:43Speaker 4: People seem to really like her.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Really? Okay, good. Yeah. I'm glad. Okay. It's different. Just
- 39:54Speaker 1: got to tell you. We know how you feel. Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 1: You're exactly right. And then another person asked me over
- 40:01Speaker 1: the weekend, what do you think of the pregame show?
- 40:02Speaker 1: Has it improved? Yeah. Okay. I'm sure they are nice people,
- 40:09Speaker 1: but just not fans of the host. I tried to
- 40:14Speaker 1: listen to the pregame show. I haven't listened to it
- 40:16Speaker 1: all year. I tried to listen to it. It's just.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Like the Tom Leach pregame show or the one that
- 40:21Speaker 4: comes on before?
- 40:22Speaker 1: Not the KSR one. The one after that. And they
- 40:27Speaker 1: have a lady that's from JMI at work that does
- 40:30Speaker 1: that one with two players. Yeah. I just.
- 40:33Speaker 4: I don't guess I've heard that one.
- 40:35Speaker 1: It's a dud. I mean, that's. My mom always said,
- 40:38Speaker 1: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I think I'm saying it right now. I just wish
- 40:42Speaker 1: they could improve it. It's by far one of the. Okay.
- 40:46Speaker 1: There you go. All right, how's that for an answer?
- 40:48Speaker 1: So sorry. Thanks for really taking my vibe away and
- 40:52Speaker 1: asking me a question like that.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Great job skating.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I know, but I just, by the way, I did
- 40:58Speaker 1: see the tweets that people were putting out from the
- 41:02Speaker 1: television on the show after. Like they had a drone
- 41:09Speaker 1: that flew up to show the crowd. In the middle
- 41:11Speaker 1: of the field. Oh, but we couldn't do the drone show? No,
- 41:14Speaker 1: we couldn't do the drone show. And I get it.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I mean, it was pretty windy. So they're going to
- 41:18Speaker 1: reschedule that for another date. But the one drone that
- 41:21Speaker 1: went up to show the crowd in the middle of
- 41:23Speaker 1: the field was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen.
- 41:25Speaker 1: And you got the blue and white lights. I love
- 41:29Speaker 1: everything they've done there. I just... Can we... Get somebody
- 41:34Speaker 1: from UK. Get a former player to come be the
- 41:37Speaker 1: host because I think that would be– I thought Jaron
- 41:40Speaker 1: Lorenzen did a phenomenal job. I loved Jaron Lorenzen. Now, granted,
- 41:44Speaker 1: we can't get him, but isn't there another person we
- 41:46Speaker 1: can get out there and it's a former UK football player?
- 41:49Speaker 1: I don't know. It just seems like there's some really
- 41:52Speaker 1: good personalities out there. Marcus McClinton would be an incredible
- 41:56Speaker 1: pick if he could come back. But I think he's
- 41:59Speaker 1: still in the Navy right now. But I thought that view.
- 42:03Speaker 1: What's that?
- 42:04Speaker 4: Very admirable.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly it is. I've had him on the show before,
- 42:08Speaker 1: but that was at the old show. I did love
- 42:11Speaker 1: the fact that Will Stein got emotional in his post game.
- 42:14Speaker 1: And I will say this, the post game questions that
- 42:18Speaker 1: that lady asked Will Stein, I thought were really good questions.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Wow. Yep.
- 42:23Speaker 4: There you go. You're welcome.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Okay. I'll compliment her. Holy moly. It's not, well, how
- 42:28Speaker 1: do you feel after this win coach? It's like, God,
- 42:31Speaker 1: do you have to, that is the dumbest question ever.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Don't ask that for what it's worth I think he
- 42:36Speaker 4: was way less emotional after this win than he was
- 42:39Speaker 4: South Carolina really yeah no I didn't I wasn't it
- 42:42Speaker 4: didn't seem like he was gonna cry oh I did
- 42:45Speaker 4: in this post I thought he was I thought he
- 42:48Speaker 4: was in the South Carolina one yeah very obviously about
- 42:51Speaker 4: to cry.
- 42:52Speaker 1: You can now look back uh preseason when he said
- 42:55Speaker 1: because of me I think that comment is coming back
- 42:59Speaker 1: in a positive way.
- 43:01Speaker 4: They played that during the broadcast.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Oh, they did? Really?
- 43:04Speaker 4: Freaking Adam Luckett just getting all this press time.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Is he real? Good for Adam Luckett. Because it shows
- 43:09Speaker 1: him asking the question. Oh, it does?
- 43:11Speaker 4: Every time.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:12Speaker 1: And you know what? It is coming across as confidence.
- 43:16Speaker 1: It's not coming across as a cocky coach out there.
- 43:20Speaker 1: It's all because of me. No, no, no, no. This
- 43:22Speaker 1: is coming across as confidence. somebody that believes in himself.
- 43:26Speaker 1: And you know what? It has become not only contagious
- 43:29Speaker 1: to his coaching staff, to his players, and now a
- 43:32Speaker 1: fan base that desperately wants a winning football team. And
- 43:37Speaker 1: I can tell you right now, I guarantee you Mark
- 43:40Speaker 1: Pope is breathing a gigantic sigh of relief right now
- 43:44Speaker 1: because it's taken the pressure off him so far.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Yeah, but once the season starts, it'll be right back on.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Is that going to add it?
- 43:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it probably is. But because, you know, you're looking
- 43:53Speaker 1: at a coach that's doing so well in one sport. Well,
- 43:56Speaker 1: why aren't you? I don't know. Maybe that is a
- 43:59Speaker 1: good question. Maybe this is the year he does good
- 44:02Speaker 1: in his sport. Maybe so. Maybe it'll be a little
- 44:05Speaker 1: contagious to him.
- 44:07Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 44:08Speaker 1: How much time we got before we got to take
- 44:09Speaker 1: a break?
- 44:09Speaker 4: We have got a little over a minute.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Okay. Let me get to a couple of texts before
- 44:14Speaker 1: we go. Oh, my goodness. I think this is the
- 44:18Speaker 1: first time this guy has ever texted this show, and
- 44:21Speaker 1: I appreciate you doing it. He does escape your head,
- 44:25Speaker 1: but no faster than any other part of your body.
- 44:28Speaker 1: That's an old myth. Must be a doctor. I would
- 44:32Speaker 1: like to know where your facts are coming from, Texter.
- 44:36Speaker 1: But I appreciate you texting in for the first time.
- 44:39Speaker 1: First time Texter, but we're going to call you out. No,
- 44:41Speaker 1: I'm not going to call them out. No, I'm very appreciative.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Show your research. Stop. I didn't say it obnoxiously like
- 44:50Speaker 1: you just did. I just show me the facts. I mean,
- 44:53Speaker 1: come on. No, I'm just kidding. I mean, just have
- 44:56Speaker 1: a little fun there. Why is Michael dressed like it's
- 45:01Speaker 1: winter and Justin like it's summer? That's what we do here, Michelle.
- 45:06Speaker 1: That's what we do. Because I'm thin-skinned and I can't
- 45:10Speaker 1: take the cold. That's why, Michelle. You can't even see
- 45:13Speaker 1: my feet, Michelle. I'm rocking the flip-flops today, too. Are
- 45:16Speaker 1: you serious? I'm wearing boots over here. Boots, socks, long pants,
- 45:21Speaker 1: and I'm freezing. Anyway, all right. Yeah, you called me
- 45:25Speaker 1: out there. You know it's going to be 84 today, right?
- 45:26Speaker 1: Is it really?
- 45:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Okay, well, maybe I'll put that off.
- 45:29Speaker 4: You're a little over-jurist.
- 45:30Speaker 1: No, I'm not. It was chilly. When I left the
- 45:32Speaker 1: house this morning, it was 51 degrees. Give me a break.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I was cold. I want to be comfy and cozy.
- 45:38Speaker 4: Fair enough.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Anyway, all right. Hey, Texter, I'm not making fun of you.
- 45:41Speaker 1: I love the fact that you texted into the show.
- 45:43Speaker 1: We'll get more to the text in a minute. Hour
- 45:46Speaker 1: two coming right up.
- 45:47Speaker 3: We'll be right back.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Welcome to just the cats with michael bennett all right
- 46:06Speaker 1: our number two on this uh just absolute can i
- 46:09Speaker 1: just say glorious monday i mean anytime i hear somebody
- 46:12Speaker 1: say glorious i think of will stein because i tend
- 46:14Speaker 1: to think he uses that a little too much in
- 46:16Speaker 1: his uh shtick every now and then does he oh
- 46:19Speaker 1: yeah he's always saying glorious yeah i don't know i've
- 46:21Speaker 1: ever heard him oh really oh yeah yeah he says
- 46:24Speaker 1: that quite a bit but uh I did, I will
- 46:27Speaker 1: have to say this. Five-star recruit, Kellen Hall. You know
- 46:31Speaker 1: he's that Christian Academy player. We were talking about him
- 46:34Speaker 1: last week. And he was at the game over the weekend,
- 46:38Speaker 1: celebrating on the field. You saw him hanging out with
- 46:40Speaker 1: Will Stein before the game.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Wait, Christian Academy?
- 46:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:43Speaker 4: You're telling me they got him as a five-star, and
- 46:46Speaker 4: then they've got that, oh my gosh, why am I
- 46:50Speaker 4: blanking on his name? Jahide Brown as well?
- 46:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Holy smokes. Yeah, except both of them were there. Well,
- 46:55Speaker 1: they're winning, Tate. Both of them were there at the game.
- 46:58Speaker 1: And then they had somebody. No, I don't think Jahide was.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Are you sure?
- 47:02Speaker 4: Rouse tweeted out that Jahide wasn't making the trip. I thought, okay,
- 47:07Speaker 4: I saw where he was there. Okay, well, I stand. Listen,
- 47:12Speaker 4: I believe Nick Roush more than I believe Michael Bennett.
- 47:14Speaker 4: So I thought he was, though. Okay, I won't say
- 47:18Speaker 4: any more about that.
- 47:19Speaker 1: But Kellen Hall. I couldn't tell you outside of that.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Kellen Hall was on the field throwing the L's down.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Just letting you know, they had a video of it.
- 47:31Speaker 1: And I've seen the video.
- 47:32Speaker 4: I mean, kind of a, is it wrong if I
- 47:34Speaker 4: say that's kind of a loser thing to do?
- 47:37Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean.
- 47:38Speaker 4: I mean, if you're playing Louisville, I get it. I
- 47:42Speaker 4: understand it makes a lot more sense, but you just
- 47:45Speaker 4: beat LSU. Yeah. Unless it was the LSU L that
- 47:50Speaker 4: he was throwing down. Oh, maybe that was it. Because
- 47:52Speaker 4: they have a different L, don't they? Because doesn't LSU
- 47:55Speaker 4: do the L's up?
- 47:56Speaker 1: Oh, they just do the L. But it's just a
- 47:57Speaker 1: different L. Yeah. It's not the double finger one. It's
- 48:00Speaker 1: the single finger. Oh, that's what he was doing then. Okay.
- 48:03Speaker 1: He was doing the single finger version of it. That
- 48:04Speaker 1: makes more sense. Okay. Well, you got to be careful there.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Because I look at that and I think L, I
- 48:09Speaker 1: think U of L. Not the other LSU. But, all right,
- 48:14Speaker 1: let's talk about the two kids or students, whatever you
- 48:17Speaker 1: want to call them, flipping the bird to Lane Kiffin
- 48:22Speaker 1: as they're filming it, running behind Lane Kiffin. A lot
- 48:27Speaker 1: of people are talking about this. Have you seen that video?
- 48:30Speaker 1: I have not. Yeah. It was a dumb thing to do,
- 48:35Speaker 1: but they're kids. They're not talking about LSU senior linebacker
- 48:40Speaker 1: TJ Daughtery throwing a punch at a fan.
- 48:44Speaker 4: Wait, really?
- 48:46Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. They want to show the two kids from UK,
- 48:49Speaker 1: but they don't want to show Daughtery, the LSU defensive linebacker,
- 48:57Speaker 1: literally throwing a punch. And I'm like, okay, wait a minute. Yes,
- 49:01Speaker 1: the two kids doing the thing, running behind Lane Kiffin
- 49:04Speaker 1: was stupid. It was. It's a bad look on the UK.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Stop doing that kind of crap. But throwing a punch
- 49:10Speaker 1: is completely different. And I want to know if the
- 49:12Speaker 1: SEC is going to do anything about it. I mean,
- 49:17Speaker 1: it's not like they were throwing a punch or doing
- 49:19Speaker 1: or anything else. They were just running behind him. Give
- 49:22Speaker 1: him the bird. Like, Stop doing that kind of crap.
- 49:26Speaker 4: That really is probably pretty annoying when you're on the
- 49:30Speaker 4: losing team and you've got all these fans around you.
- 49:33Speaker 1: But still, that's... Act classy. Yeah, I mean... Act like
- 49:36Speaker 1: a winner, not like something stupid like that. Right. We
- 49:39Speaker 1: don't have anything against Lane Kiffin at UK. Why are
- 49:42Speaker 1: you doing that? Yeah, there's no need for that. It wasn't.
- 49:46Speaker 1: But to throw a punch, that's different. And the kid
- 49:50Speaker 1: on LSU's football team, Daughtery, threw a punch at a fan.
- 49:53Speaker 4: Why are you saying that?
- 49:55Speaker 1: How do you say his name? Daughtery. Daughtery.
- 49:58Speaker 4: Daughtery?
- 49:58Speaker 1: Yeah. It's D-O-T-T-E-R-Y is how you spell it.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Oh, Daughtery.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Daughtery.
- 50:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Okay. Weird.
- 50:04Speaker 4: I was picturing Daughtery.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Yeah. No, it's D-O-T-T-E-R-Y. So I want to know why
- 50:10Speaker 1: more people aren't calling him out. They got the video
- 50:12Speaker 1: of it, so call him out.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. Being a sore loser. Yeah.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Well, listen, you got to keep yourself in check. When
- 50:27Speaker 1: you're a player, a coach, you just got to. Listen,
- 50:32Speaker 1: I don't know if I get why the SEC wants
- 50:35Speaker 1: these rules of celebrating and allowing the fans not on
- 50:39Speaker 1: the field, but I love it. And the fact that.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Was it worth $ 500, 000? Yeah, absolutely. It was worth every
- 50:46Speaker 1: penny of it. I've had so many people ask me
- 50:48Speaker 1: that same question right there. And I'm telling you right now,
- 50:51Speaker 1: for UK to be doing what they're doing right now,
- 50:54Speaker 1: let the fans celebrate. And yes, it was worth every penny.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Every player got off the field safely. Nobody was hurt
- 51:02Speaker 1: other than one of our fans that got hit by LSU.
- 51:05Speaker 4: But come on, man. Let them have their fun. I
- 51:09Speaker 4: was sitting there after the post-game interview. I was trying
- 51:13Speaker 4: to keep an eye on the The sideline reporter? Because
- 51:15Speaker 4: I was like, how in the world is she going
- 51:17Speaker 4: to get out of this? How's she going to find
- 51:20Speaker 4: Will Stein? And she was able to find him. Will Stein,
- 51:23Speaker 4: at least, you know, he can ride the momentum through
- 51:25Speaker 4: the fans out of there. But I was, I was like,
- 51:27Speaker 4: how's she going to get out? Yes, she did.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Well, clearly she did. Yeah.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Listen, it wasn't that hard. You could move around. Did
- 51:37Speaker 4: we have reports of couches burning and all that?
- 51:39Speaker 1: I missed all that. Oh, they were doing every bit
- 51:42Speaker 1: of it. And I was so thankful to see that
- 51:44Speaker 1: the police and the fire people were letting them have
- 51:48Speaker 1: their fun. Do it in a safe environment, but let
- 51:52Speaker 1: them have their fun. Just like with going on the field.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Do you think it was worth $ 500, 000? If IU had
- 51:57Speaker 1: that kind of win, do you think it would be
- 51:58Speaker 1: worth $ 500, 000 to give to LSU? Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 4: So do I.
- 52:03Speaker 1: And the whole couch burning thing, absolutely let them burn
- 52:06Speaker 1: the couches as many as you want, as long as
- 52:08Speaker 1: they don't damage any cars, any other homes, or anything
- 52:11Speaker 1: like that. Let them have their fun.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Furniture stores are probably loving this.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I don't get it. My wife asked me last night.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Explain to me the whole couch thing. I said, Patricia,
- 52:23Speaker 1: they've just done it for years. I don't know how
- 52:25Speaker 1: it started. I don't at this point. I don't care.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I think it's so much fun to see it when
- 52:31Speaker 1: these students, fans, whatever, want to go out and celebrate.
- 52:35Speaker 1: And that's the way they celebrate. That's become a UK
- 52:37Speaker 1: tradition to burn couches. I don't think they're necessarily brand
- 52:41Speaker 1: new couches. I think they're from. Oh, no. Yeah.
- 52:43Speaker 4: They're not burning a brand new couch.
- 52:45Speaker 1: No.
- 52:45Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, furniture stores probably love it because
- 52:48Speaker 4: they got to go buy a new one.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but are they really buying a new one? I
- 52:51Speaker 1: think they're going to a secondhand store and buying another one.
- 52:53Speaker 4: Okay.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Because that one might get burned again.
- 52:55Speaker 4: You get my point.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I do.
- 52:57Speaker 4: They're supporting businesses to go buy a new couch. I
- 52:59Speaker 4: don't care if it's new or.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Uh, Jolie, who I dearly love. She's my favorite. Well,
- 53:05Speaker 1: one of my favorite texter. She said, Michael, you are
- 53:07Speaker 1: my new best friend or maybe your horses. Either way.
- 53:11Speaker 1: I won good money. Yeah. And had so much fun
- 53:14Speaker 1: watching the race. Best Thursday at work ever. Congratulations to
- 53:17Speaker 1: you and your crew. All right. It did pay out.
- 53:20Speaker 1: We got to talk about it for a minute. Okay.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Cause we, I didn't call in Friday. And, uh, so, uh,
- 53:28Speaker 1: Look at what happened to me last week. And I
- 53:31Speaker 1: guess I am going to brag a little bit, but
- 53:32Speaker 1: I've never had this kind of experience in my life
- 53:35Speaker 1: going through what I just went through on this past week.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I was excited. Listen, I swore up and down the
- 53:41Speaker 1: Yankees were going to beat the Rays last Wednesday night.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I don't know who was more giddy about going to
- 53:47Speaker 1: that game. And after that game, my son or me,
- 53:49Speaker 1: but we got to go see the Yankees get swept
- 53:51Speaker 1: by my favorite Tampa Bay Rays. Thursday, I get up.
- 53:56Speaker 1: And we do the show together. And then I'm on
- 53:59Speaker 1: my way. I'm in a cab. I didn't trust myself
- 54:02Speaker 1: to take the subway. So I took a cab from
- 54:05Speaker 1: my son's apartment up to Penn Station. And my sister called.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, my gosh, are you okay? And
- 54:12Speaker 1: she goes, it's your birthday. And I'm like, holy crap,
- 54:16Speaker 1: I forgot. I'd forgotten totally it was my birthday. And
- 54:20Speaker 1: so she sings like one verse. She goes, I'm not
- 54:24Speaker 1: singing to you. I'm terrible. And I said, thank you.
- 54:26Speaker 1: And so I get out to the track, and our trainer,
- 54:30Speaker 1: Horacio DePaz, if you don't know who Horacio DePaz is,
- 54:33Speaker 1: go look him up. He's one of the hottest New
- 54:36Speaker 1: York trainers up there, and I love the guy. He
- 54:39Speaker 1: has become a near and dear friend. He fussed at me, though.
- 54:42Speaker 1: He goes, Michael, if you would just stop the whole
- 54:45Speaker 1: radio thing and stop talking about your horse on the radio,
- 54:47Speaker 1: I would appreciate it. We could have had bigger odds
- 54:50Speaker 1: on your horse. It was 9-1. I know. He said
- 54:53Speaker 1: it should have been a lot more. And he was
- 54:56Speaker 1: quietly confident about this horse.
- 54:58Speaker 4: That's just being greedy, Horacio.
- 54:59Speaker 3: It was.
- 55:00Speaker 1: It was.
- 55:00Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 55:01Speaker 4: But it would have made you more money. I was
- 55:03Speaker 4: fine with what I made.
- 55:04Speaker 6: Okay.
- 55:05Speaker 4: That was a great payback.
- 55:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 1: I had a number of buddies that put some money
- 55:09Speaker 1: down on the horse. And they asked me, Michael, how
- 55:11Speaker 1: much did you put down? I said, not a dime.
- 55:14Speaker 4: I mean, it paid almost $ 22 on a $ 2 win.
- 55:17Speaker 1: I know. It's crazy. I had one friend that won
- 55:19Speaker 1: over $ 600. I had another buddy that won over $ 800.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I had another buddy that won a couple thousand. Jeez.
- 55:24Speaker 1: It's like, I'm not doing that. I'm just not going to,
- 55:26Speaker 1: because I'm going to get to a point where I'm
- 55:27Speaker 1: going to be down so much money, I'm not going
- 55:29Speaker 1: to be able to catch up. Yeah, I texted you
- 55:31Speaker 1: almost immediately. When's your next horse race? Well, that's happening soon, too.
- 55:36Speaker 1: But yeah, it was it was a lot of fun.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I asked her. So Manny Franco came up before the
- 55:44Speaker 1: race and he started talking to Horacio and he said, oh,
- 55:47Speaker 1: I want you to meet the owner. This is Michael Bennett.
- 55:50Speaker 1: And of course, I'm there meeting Manny Franco, the number
- 55:53Speaker 1: one jockey in the state of New York right now.
- 55:55Speaker 1: And so he's the Jose Ortiz up there or Brian Hernandez,
- 55:59Speaker 1: whoever you want to talk about. But it was pretty
- 56:01Speaker 1: cool to meet Manny Franco. And then they started talking
- 56:04Speaker 1: in Spanish. Manny walks away, and I'm like, okay, Horacio,
- 56:07Speaker 1: you really got me nervous. What were y'all saying? I said,
- 56:11Speaker 1: Horacio said, I told Manny, I said, I just want
- 56:15Speaker 1: a clean race, break good. He doesn't have to win.
- 56:20Speaker 1: And he started smiling at me. I said, why are
- 56:22Speaker 1: you smiling? He goes, because I loved Manny's response. He goes,
- 56:26Speaker 1: Manny said to me, I'm going to win this race.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I love the way you just told me to do
- 56:30Speaker 1: this because now I know I'm going to win. Heck yeah.
- 56:32Speaker 1: And I'm like, holy crap, are you kidding me? And
- 56:36Speaker 1: Horacio just smiled at me. And so we're standing there
- 56:39Speaker 1: and then, you know, the young lady that's in the
- 56:41Speaker 1: paddock from FX1 comes over and she starts talking to Horacio.
- 56:46Speaker 1: And she was looking at me, glancing over at me
- 56:49Speaker 1: every now and then. I was just smiling. And so...
- 56:52Speaker 1: They go on from there. We go out to watch
- 56:55Speaker 1: the race. And then I see him break really well.
- 56:58Speaker 1: He gets to the first turn. He's making his move.
- 57:01Speaker 1: And I kind of poked Mason. I said, Mason, watch this.
- 57:04Speaker 1: And I can't explain it, Justin. But I knew the
- 57:08Speaker 1: entire time, the day before, the day of. And I'm like, no,
- 57:12Speaker 1: you can't believe this. I had a weird confidence that
- 57:17Speaker 1: Hunting Goodwill was going to win. I just did. Because
- 57:20Speaker 1: it was your birthday. Well, that was part of it.
- 57:23Speaker 1: I had this eerie feeling that my mom and dad
- 57:26Speaker 1: were with me. Of course, my mom's been gone 25 years.
- 57:29Speaker 1: My dad's been gone now. That was the date he
- 57:32Speaker 1: passed away six years earlier. And I thought, this is crazy.
- 57:36Speaker 1: It's just a weird feeling I had the entire day.
- 57:39Speaker 1: And then here he comes and I'm yelling. Mason and
- 57:42Speaker 1: I are hugging and we go down there and I'm
- 57:46Speaker 1: waiting on my son. My other son, Max, is FaceTiming
- 57:49Speaker 1: me with his girlfriend and my wife is there in Louisville.
- 57:53Speaker 1: They're all screaming. And then all of a sudden I hear, Michael, Michael.
- 57:57Speaker 1: And he's like, get off your phone. Come over here.
- 58:00Speaker 1: It was Horacio yelling at me. He goes, I want
- 58:03Speaker 1: you to take your horse. I'll get emotional about this.
- 58:05Speaker 1: He goes, I want you to walk your horse into
- 58:07Speaker 1: the winner's circle. And I'm like, who does that?
- 58:11Speaker 4: Although the other handler didn't trust you to do it.
- 58:14Speaker 3: No, he didn't.
- 58:15Speaker 1: He didn't trust me at all. And Horacio started yelling
- 58:17Speaker 1: at him.
- 58:18Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Michael knows horses. He's been around horses all his life,
- 58:21Speaker 1: and he let him go. And it's just like I
- 58:23Speaker 1: couldn't believe Horacio told me to go walk.
- 58:27Speaker 4: The horse in the winner's circle. I was glad you
- 58:29Speaker 4: sent me that video. That was really cool. You telling
- 58:31Speaker 4: the guy, I got it.
- 58:33Speaker 3: I got it.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I know.
- 58:34Speaker 4: Like, it's not my first time around.
- 58:36Speaker 1: I know. I know. And Horacio's yelling, he's been around
- 58:38Speaker 1: horses his entire life. It's okay. And then, first of all,
- 58:43Speaker 1: I couldn't believe he was telling me to. And that's
- 58:45Speaker 1: when I knew Horacio was going to be my best friend.
- 58:48Speaker 1: And I walked him in. Manny's up there talking to me. Congratulations.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I'm really happy for you, Michael. And then we get there,
- 58:56Speaker 1: and there's the interview. I might have you play the interview.
- 58:59Speaker 1: And when we come back from break, I'll have you
- 59:02Speaker 1: play that. So pull it up.
- 59:03Speaker 4: Might be tough to find.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Really? Okay. I'll see. I think I could probably, if
- 59:07Speaker 1: I sent it to you, can you play it or no? Uh, yeah. Okay.
- 59:10Speaker 1: I think I can find it. Okay. All right then. Well,
- 59:13Speaker 1: I'll send it to you anyway, but, uh, Meg, uh,
- 59:17Speaker 1: I don't remember her name was, but, uh, Yeah, she
- 59:19Speaker 1: started saying birthday boy Michael Bennett. And it was a
- 59:22Speaker 1: funny interview. And I had fun with her. But we
- 59:26Speaker 1: might play that in a minute. So we'll see. Let's
- 59:28Speaker 1: get to a couple other texts before we have to
- 59:30Speaker 1: take another break. One person texted in, LSU was playing
- 59:34Speaker 1: not to lose and tight while UK played to win. See,
- 59:38Speaker 1: I agree with that. It felt like Lane Kiffin was
- 59:42Speaker 1: coaching that game not to lose or not to win.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And I feel that way as well. Michael's saying tush
- 59:49Speaker 1: push has to be a bit cringy, but if you
- 59:52Speaker 1: need help pushing that tush, call Game Day Mens. Thank you, Jamie.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I appreciate that laugh right there. One person texted in,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: watching Minchie on those final two-point conversions these last two
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: weeks was an absolute work of art. Again, South Carolina,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: he told Baxter exactly who to block, and you're exactly right, Dexter.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: He did. I mean, the clock is running down. I'm
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: getting really nervous in that South Carolina game, and he
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: confidently just reaches over to and points to C.J. Baxter.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Watch that guy right there. He needed for the play
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to develop and get that pass off to Willie. And
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: then he shifts the receivers out against LSU, parting the
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Red Sea for him to walk into the end zone.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Absolute masterclass from the future University of Kentucky Hall of Famer. See,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I think you're exactly correct. When I see games like
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: that with Minchie doing that, Justin, I just got to
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: tell you right now, it makes me wonder. And I
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: know probably the Notre Dame is not too terribly worried about.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: But on the other hand, don't you think it just
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: takes one play to injure your football quarterback? And then
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: all of a sudden you see your backup is at
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: UK doing what he's doing at UK. They got to
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: be a little nervous about that. Because Minchie, I'm here
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: to tell you, when I met Minchie that day, media
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: day at UK, he could not have been any nicer.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: And to hear C.J. Baxter, to hear Kenny Minchie, to
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: hear Kenny Darby talking post-game, and they're giving so much
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: credit to a higher being out there. And I won't
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: get into the religious side of it, but it's just
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: like these players not only have been brought up by
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: great parents, but also they've been coached by great coaches.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: And to me, that has been the biggest difference with
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: this coaching staff. You can see they are well managed.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: They've been taught well by not just the coaching staff,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: but obviously great parents. And I just, I really appreciate
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: and love that. So Josh texted in to be fair.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: When you lose weight, you get a lot colder. Oh,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: is that it? Maybe it is. That's true. I used
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: to be able to wear shorts in the winter. Not me. Nowadays,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: like these, I need heated seats and long johns, long underwear.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Laugh out loud. I know what long johns are, okay?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: I don't have to explain. He puts in there parentheses
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: long underwear like I didn't know what long johns were, okay? Yeah, man,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: you're killing me, Josh. But I didn't realize that maybe
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: that is part of my problem is, I have what's
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: called a hypothyroid, which causes you to gain weight and
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: be cold all the time. And thank goodness I've got
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: that into regulation, but I still get cold, which really
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: just sucks. One person texted in, greatest thing I heard,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: UK puts teams in a blender pre-snap. Stein and Sloan
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: are geniuses. Yeah, how about Sloan? How about that? That's
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: his former team out there. He had an advantage.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: He did?
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: See, I think so as well. But they did have
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: new coaching staff over there, so maybe, maybe not. He
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: knew the players, but he didn't know the calls. But
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: he still knows the players' tendencies. You're right.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: Things like that.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Jihad Brown wasn't at the UK game, as one
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: person says. He was handcuffed to a table at Jeff
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Ruby's with Vince Merrow. Well done, Texter. He probably was,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: and Vince was probably spoon-feeding him a steak. Oh my gosh,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: that's brilliant right there. Zach texted in, said, Facebook Marketplace
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: is a hell of a place to find a cheap couch, brother. Okay,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: fair enough. So you think people were out there buying
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: cheap couches to just literally burn after the game?
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: No, I mean, they were burning theirs and then worrying
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: about the rest of it later. Okay, oh, I see
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: what you're saying. So they were burning theirs and just
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: go to Facebook Marketplace and get it afterwards. Uh, 48
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Hanley said championships used to be the standard at Kentucky.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Now we're storming the field and burning furniture to celebrate
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: a regular season. When UK couldn't find a better use
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: of $ 500, 000.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Uh, okay. Well, somewhere today, people are eating out of
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: garbage can any underprivileged kids in Kentucky who could use
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: some scholarship money.
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: Come on 48 Hanley. There's always money in the banana stand.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but I know that's not a popular take, but
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: I'll leave the sucking up to others. So there you go.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: So I get it, 48 Handley, but I just think
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: this was a fan base that desperately needed something like this.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: We've not been great at basketball. We've not been great
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: at football. It's time to celebrate every now and then
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: and get this done. So listen, instead of giving, here's
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: what I would say to that then. Instead of giving
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: the money to 48 Handley, Have the money go to
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: charity here in Kentucky.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: To LSU.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Or to LSU.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: No, I mean, instead of going to LSU.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Instead
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: of saying that, have the money go to charities throughout Kentucky. Or,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: I mean, if it's got to go to LSU. Have
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: LSU choose, though. Exactly.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: It shouldn't go to the school, but they should be
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: able to pick charities of their choice. They're choosing that
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: they want.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: It to go to. See, I like that even more.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: That's what they should be doing, and I wish they would.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: All right, we've got to take another break.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: 502-384-1450.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: You want to call 502-414. I'm out of text, so
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: if you want to send me some text, I'd greatly
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: appreciate it. And I appreciate all the ones you've sent me.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Keep sending them to me. 502-414-1450. You can tweet me
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: at JustTheCatRadio. And I'll get your tweets on social media
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: or Twitter as well. So stay right there. Two more segments,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: we get to talk about this. Stay right there. This
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: is Justin Gap.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Try to be best, cause you're only a man, and
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: a man's got to learn to take it. Try to believe,
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: though the going gets rough, that you've got a hand
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: tough to make it. History repeats itself, try and you succeed.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Never doubt that you're the one, and you can have
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: your dream. Oh!
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: All right, 502-384-1450. You want to call 502-414-1450. You want
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line. So
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: you got it queued up is what you told me
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: a couple minutes ago. So go ahead. All right, let
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: me set it up first. So this is post-race at Belmont.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: If you ever watch it, it's called America's Day at
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: the Races. New York does a great job. I'm hoping Kentucky,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Churchill Downs, and Keeneland get together and come up with
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: something eclectic. You can watch it every day they're racing
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: up there on FX2 or FX1. FS. FS. What did
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: I say?
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: FX.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I thought it was FX.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: No, it's FS1 or FS2.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Oh, it is? Okay, FS. Well, whichever one it is,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: but it's still Fox Sports. That's right. I'm thinking FX.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: You're right. But anyway, so this was them post-race talking
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: to Meg. What's her name? Meg Burgess, I think it is,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: talking to the trainer and then comes over and talks
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: to some other guy. But go ahead. Watch anything you want.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: Hunting Goodwill, ready to go on debut. Two-year-old Colt wins
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: at first asking. Let's head down to Megan in the
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: winner's circle.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: And we've got the whole crew. It's birthday boy over here,
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: Michael Bennett, by the way. We'll get to you in
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: a minute, but I've got to start with your trainer
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: over here, where he was, as they like to say,
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: cautiously optimistic of this horse needing a start.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: But, yeah, he needed a start to get to the
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: winner's circle.
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: Yeah, no, I mean, he's been training really well. Once again,
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: he's been down at Laurel and training forwardly. Saw this
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: spot on the grass, thought I'd give it a shot there.
- 1:08:17Speaker 6: He told me it was his birthday on the 8th,
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: and I looked at the condition book, and I was like, well,
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: that's perfect.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: It sets up perfect.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: Very happy owners here. Eric Long, of course, a part
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: of the partnership, but we've got it. We've got to
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: start with you though. Birthday boy. He said to me
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: in the paddock, you might need a race. And then
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: you're like giggling underneath because you know, you're about to
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: get a really sweet.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Awesome gift in this one. Well, I'm really happy because
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: this is our first race with, uh, up in New
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: York and our first race racing in New York on
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: the Cinekill Stable. And so I'm really happy for all
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: our partners. And, you know, I came to town yesterday.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: We're big Rays fans. So Tampa Bay wins last night.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: And then we get the race win today. And my
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: birthday on top of it all.
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: You're natural.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: You know that?
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: You want to just come do this every day? You're
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: pretty awesome to be around.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: The radio every day in louisville i was gonna say
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: you have the voice for it oh but tell me
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: i have the looks too like you because you're We're
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: having too much fun down.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: Here, Grisha.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Well, listen to this part coming up.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: As it should be, though.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the best part.
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: We're probably going to make some enemies if there are
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: Yankees fans in the vicinity.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I like him even more. All of a sudden, I'm
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: going to be rooting for all of this guy's horses. Because,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: first of all, for a guy.
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: To come on TV in New York and be happy
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: about Taylor Bay, that takes some courage.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: So this guy, he's my new favorite owner.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: That's the best part right there. Because that guy's just
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: a crotchety old fart up there. He's always grouchy, but
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: he was happy about me, which made me even happier.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: But I got to tell you, that was a fun day.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I mean, I couldn't sleep. And I finally fell asleep,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: got up at 3 o'clock in the morning. I didn't
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: need to get up until like 6 or 7. And
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: then caught my flight and flew back to Louisville and
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: then started. from there went to uh keeneland and i'm
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: telling you justin by uh 6 6 30 i was
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: ready to go to bed oh i guarantee it yeah
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: it was just it was just a blast and and
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: uh have that young lady uh having some fun with
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: me and when she said you're a natural at this
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: and it's like okay well thanks you did.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: Miss an opportunity though to show shout out the show
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: oh you should i should have done that absolutely All right.
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: I'm on the radio every day in Louisville, Just the Cats,
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: 8 to 10. You can find me there. I mean,
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: that would have flowed so easily.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: You think any New Yorker is going to tune in
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: to Just the Cats? Maybe. Maybe they think it's a
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: show about kitty cats. Oh, sure. That's what they're going
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: to be thinking. All right. Well, let's talk about some
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: of the other games that happened over the weekend. What
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: did you think about Oklahoma taking down Texas?
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: That was wild.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: Yeah. And now that makes me even more worried. You
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: could look at this game two ways. Of course, Kentucky
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: opens up as a six and a half point dog to. Oh,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: my gosh. Again. Yeah.
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: We're going to do this again. Yeah. Good grief.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: They're not going to learn. When will they learn?
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: Like Will Stein said in his postgame press conference, like,
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: Keep doing that. Keep picking against us. Keep putting us
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: as underdogs because that's adding fuel to the fire. So
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: I can't believe they did it again.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Well, at this point, how many UK fans are headed
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: to Norman this weekend? I'm telling you right now, I
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: think there's going to be a tremendous amount of fans
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: going to this game because, number one, it's the first
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: time UK's ever played there. If I remember correctly, I
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: think it's the first time UK's ever played Oklahoma in Norman.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: So you got that going for you. I think Corey
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: P from TV is going. Oh, is he really? I
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: think so. My sister and brother-in-law are going. And it's like,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I'm not driving that far. First of all, the plane
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: tickets are way too expensive. And it's 11, I think
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: it's like 11 and a half hour drive. And I
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: just like, yeah, I just, I need to stay here.
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: So.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not going I know I maybe regret
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: this but I was really surprised by the six and
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: a half points that they're giving Oklahoma.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: Yeah me too because it to me that game specifically
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: the Texas game yes that said more to me about
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: what Texas isn't versus what Oklahoma is I mean it's
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: an impressive win either way I'm not trying to take
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: that away from Oklahoma but But I think that was
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: a horrible version of Texas and an okay version of
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: Oklahoma that just took care of just Texas mistakes.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Well, hopefully Oklahoma has a letdown.
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: They certainly should.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: And then UK comes in here and sneaks it out
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: with a win. I don't care how much they win by,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: just as long as they win. We'll talk about it
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: later on this week, probably not until Friday, what my
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: prediction is going to be. But am I nervous about
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: this game? Absolutely. I'm going to be nervous about every
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: single game. Why?
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Because.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: You picked two wins on the season. You're already sitting
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: at five.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: You specifically, Michael, are playing with house money.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: You're exactly right. Why are you going to be nervous?
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Everything from this point forward is like a hell yeah
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: moment for you.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: So do you think, clearly the team is confident. Clearly,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: the coaching staff is confident. Do you think the fan
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: base is there yet? I mean, was this a fluke
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: win for UK again?
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: No, I think a majority of the fan base is
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: all on board with this team.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: You really think so? I do.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: And then when you look at the rest of the schedule,
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: I hate that we have to harp on it every week.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: But yeah, it's still really tough. But there's nothing on
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: the schedule from a Kentucky fan aspect that scares me.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: Not a single one.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Lots of people are criticizing Manning, saying, why is he
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: so rated when he's clearly overrated? And they're saying, they're
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: pointing to the national media, they're sucking up to the
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Manning boys. Do you think that's the case? I've always
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: said I think Manning's a bit on the overrated side,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: if not completely overrated. Yeah, I mean, that's because of
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: the family name.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: I mean, when your last name is Manning. I love
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: the Mannings. I'm a big fan of Peyton and Eli. No,
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: I'm saying that's why he is rated where he is
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: because of his last name.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: So he is overrated, in other words.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: I think so, yeah. But, I mean, he also was
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: really good coming out of high school, too. But that's
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: high school.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. I understand. Michael, I'm on your side.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Stop trying to be combative and argue.
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: Me with this.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: But that's the fun part. That's why I do this
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: show is to be combative and argumentative. I'm on the
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: same side of you. Okay.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: Just the name Manning.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: That's all. Georgia beats Alabama.
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: That game was fun.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: That's the only bad part about going to the games.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: I miss the games. And to me, this was one
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: of the better weekends with really good football. It was
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: an awesome football weekend. And so you got to see those.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: So what about the Alabama fans hitting the helmet of
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: one of the Georgia players? And a lot of people saying, well,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: he said some inappropriate stuff. The guy should have been arrested.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Now people, now Georgia fans are trying to call him out.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Let's find this guy. Let's make him famous. I don't
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: like it when, now the guy was wrong, number one.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: He was wrong for hitting a player on the helmet.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Doesn't matter if he had a helmet on or not.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: You don't, that's assault.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: That's assault, brother.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: I ain't doing it.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: And the guy should have never done it. Now, whether
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: or not he said derogative comments to him, I'm not
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: convinced of that. A lot of people are saying he
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: was saying one particular racist word. I didn't see that. So,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: don't make it so negative. But he was wrong in
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: hitting the guy on the helmet.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: Just unfortunate you had to have something like that after
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: the game.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Because it really wasn't. Awesome, awesome game. It was a
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: great game, and Alabama's got to get over themselves. Guess what?
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: You're going to suffer losses now. You don't have Nick
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Saban paying all these players like he was.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: I don't know that they're going to lose many more,
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: to be quite frank with you. I mean, Georgia, they're
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: the top of the top. Would you like to see
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: UK face Alabama again?
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: See, I would. Just to see. I think Alabama would
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: win again, because now you've got UK being listed in
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: the college football playoffs. Yeah, crazy.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: I mean, with you saying crazy, it makes me feel
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: crazy that I'm even saying it. It's ridiculous that we're
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: even talking about UK being the college football playoffs. First
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: year with Will Stein.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: But, I mean, the good news about that is if
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: you keep stacking wins and you do make the playoffs,
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: who knows? Maybe you will get another crack at baseball.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Well, they've got UK playing Alabama in the first playoff game.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: I wish they had. I don't know how it's all
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: going to shake out. ultimately at the end of the day.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: But if there is one thing I'm hoping, I hope
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: more than anything, Kentucky makes the playoffs and I want
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: an Indiana Kentucky matchup in the playoffs. Like I want air.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: What a way to raise that right there.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: Because honestly, beginning of the season, if you would have
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: told me Kentucky finds a way to make the playoffs,
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: they match up with Indiana. My mindset's going to be, oh,
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: Indiana wins that game 42-10.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. In fact, I think you said that.
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: Now, if they were to meet up, I have a
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: completely different mindset. I think it could be a lot
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: of fun.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, not could be. I think it would
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: be a lot of fun.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Tennessee survives at Arkansas 24-17. I mean, you're going to
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: have games like that. I still think Tennessee's a pretty
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: good team. Arkansas, though, is the worst team in the SEC. Yeah.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: I don't care where that game is.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: You can play that game on the surface of the moon.
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: Tennessee should still win that game by 20-plus.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: The shocking one to me was South Carolina.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Going to Gainesville of all places and just blowing out Florida.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: That just keeps happening to Kentucky, right? Yeah. Throw Texas
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: A & M out the window, but every other team
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: that they've played, they go on the next week and
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: do some crazy things. You're like, well, are they better
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: than we thought?
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: I mean, did that save Shane Beamer's job? See, I
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: tend to think a lot of the Gamecock fans are like, please,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: we want to be done with Shane Beamer. Don't win
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: these games. And then they go down there and win.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: They were chanting Beamer ball at the end of the game.
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: How do they go from booing their coach two weeks
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: ago to chanting Beamer Bowl?
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Well, you know, in the fact that Will Stein really
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: liked Shane Beamer kind of sheds a little light. OK,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: maybe he's not the goof that I want him to be.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: So and to see him interviewed after the game, he
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: had a smile on his face because he knew that
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: probably saved him. for another year yeah that was a
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: huge but uh wow does that make you.
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: More comfortable for the florida game coming up maybe a
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: little bit uh i don't i don't know if they
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: stink or not.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Two games straight by.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: 20 plus yeah they did i guess this one was
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: only 19 and this was but but this was at
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: florida that should i i was firmly on the gator
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: side here i just knew florida would probably blow out
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: South Carolina, and that would be the end of Shane Beamer.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Same. Because I figured the football players were down and out,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: but credit to the coaching staff there and Shane Beamer
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: mostly for bringing that team back, going to a very
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: tough environment, and beating Florida like they did. So credit
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: to them for doing that. But let's talk about North Carolina.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: That beat a team that took UK out of the
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: top 25, Pitt. It's like, are you kidding me? North Carolina?
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: Bill Belichick beats Pitt? Pitt did lose their quarterback last week. Oh,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: so you're good.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: For what it's worth.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Really? Okay. All right, then. We'll leave it at that.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I still think Carolina stinks. Oh, I know I'm convinced
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: they stink. Absolutely. They stink. So, uh, but, but good
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: for them. So, all right, we got to take our
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: last break. Uh, when we come back, I'll get back
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: to more of your text. Uh, plus, uh, we got
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: to talk about, uh, is this the biggest story in
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: the country? UK football. That is. We'll talk about that. Uh,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: as well as, uh, the, the whole dunking situation. I
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: don't know if you saw that video or not, but
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: that was another fun video of UK fans down on
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: the field. Stay right there. One more segment of Jessica
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: is coming right.
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: Up.
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: You know a lot of girls be thinking my.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: Songs are about them, but This is not to get confused.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: This one's for you. Baby, you my everything. You all
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: I ever wanted.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: We could do it real big. Bigger than you ever
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: done it. You'd be up on everything.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: Love the whole thing, never on it.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: I want this forever. I swear I could spend whatever
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: on it. All right, we're on our last segment of
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: the day. I'll get your text in just a couple
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: of minutes. 502-414-1450 on the Whiskey Thief text line. Have
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: you seen the video? This is my favorite player in
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: the NFL, Mike Evans, who used to play for the Buccaneers.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: Yeah, got a tutty yesterday.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Exactly. So he's now on the 49ers. They were playing
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks yesterday. He grabbed one of the Seahawks
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: defensive players, Trevon Diggs. So he grabs him because Trevon
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Diggs of the Seahawks was talking trash to him and
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: turns him around to see what his name is on
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: his jersey because he's not one of the most disrespectful
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: things I've ever seen. It was hilarious. Yeah. But to
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: see him turn around, see his name, and then walk
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: off was hilarious.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: That is good.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: I like Trayvon Diggs.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Oh, do you really? I do. See, I like Mike Evans.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: Remember Diggs had the viral moment a couple years ago
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: where his son was in the crowd and his son
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: is just like, that's my daddy.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: That's my daddy. Oh, yeah, I do remember that. That
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: was cute. Yeah, that was nice.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: I like him a lot more.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Do you? Yeah. There is now an Oregon account that's saying,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: I miss Will Steins.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: I'm sure there's more than one.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, Ryan Howard, congratulations to her.
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: What'd she do?
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Atlanta dreams her WNBA team is now in the WNBA finals. Yeah.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: She's averaging 19 points a game in the playoffs, four rebounds,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: three assists, and two steals.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: Good for her.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: She's having a heck of a time. Exactly good for her.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: I'm really happy for her. She's one of my all-time
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: favorite basketball players at UK. Yeah. Uh, UK is back
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: into the, uh, ranks where they should have been the
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: entire time. But, uh, and you're right, Justin, at this point,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: I just didn't care. Yeah. It's like you, you disrespected
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: UK last week. I didn't care if they were going
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: to be ranked or not. I, I, at that point,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: I hope that they weren't going to be, but they
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: come in at 15 from not being ranked at all.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: And then going into 15, what do you think about that?
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: I think you probably should have been ranked last week.
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: I mean, if you got this big of a jump
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: this week.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Yeah. But, I mean, who knows?
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: Maybe if you're ranked last week, maybe the team's not
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: locked in and focused like they were on Saturday.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: What did you think? Did you see the video the
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: UK fans got? This is the part I don't understand
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: about LSU. You know, they've got that basketball goal over there.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: On their sidelines. So when there's a turnover, they create
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: a turnover. They go dunk a basketball into a basketball
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: goal at a football game on a football team.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: Wasn't much dunking.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: No, there wasn't at all. There wasn't a single one.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: So a UK fan after the game goes and grabs
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: a basketball, dunks it, and then takes the basketball. Hell yeah.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: I thought that was awesome. Why would you ever come
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: to the state of Kentucky and bring a basketball goal? Anyway,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: but how many more times is UK going to use
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: the Power K now?
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: They're not, right?
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Wasn't that just a one-time deal? I hope it's not
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: a one-time deal. They need to bring that back full-time.
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: Weird take with the Power K. I didn't much care
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: for it on the helmet.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: Although it looked a lot better than it did on
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: the field.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: But the Power K... That was on their pants?
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: That looked great.
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: I really liked that.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: The Power K is what I grew up with. So,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I missed it. I loved it. And the way they
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: honored it, I want them to do it all the
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: time now. And you're right. It was on the pants.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: I loved it. I'm not like you. I loved it
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: on the helmet. I think it was brilliant. I'm with you, though,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: on the center of the field. But I understand why
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: they did that. They had to cover up the old
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: one out there and do that.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: If they could fix that and bring it back totally,
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: I'm all about it. All the gear that the coaches
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: wore I thought was really– I know the kids like
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: to say fire, so I'll say it. An old guy
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: saying fire. It was fire. I loved it.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: It's not cool if you say it like that.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Oh, sorry. I'm just supposed to say fire? Fire. Okay.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: All right. My boys make fun of me because of
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: the way I say fire. But– The thing is, Scoots,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: is that I only picked four wins, but now if
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: UK wins the next two games, they are probably going
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: to be ranked in the top 12 of the playoff rankings.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: So if you are this close to being there, you
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: have something to lose now. No, I agree with you, Will,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: from South Central. Thank you, Will, from South Central.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: I was just saying for Michael Psyche, if he only
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: picked two games, he's kind of playing with house money
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: at this point.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: But the team very much not so.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Now you're this close to actually really, really being in
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: the playoffs. It's like, okay. Could you imagine?
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: No.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Could you imagine? No. And I still can't imagine. I
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: think I'm talking crazy talk when I say that. And
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about it because I don't
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: want to change it.
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: Even if you don't make it there this year, isn't
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: the future ridiculously bright? And aren't you going into next
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: season thinking, holy smokes, we could be a playoff. We
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: should be a playoff team.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Right. I'm just right there with you. Patrick
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: texted in, I ended up losing in my nine-ball singles
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: regional tournament yesterday. I'm so sorry to hear that, Patrick.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: I lost to the eventual winner in my last loser's
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: bracket match. So that's good. I mean, that's a compliment
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: to you that you lost to the winner.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: That's true. If you're going to lose, lose to the
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: guy who wins it all.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Exactly. So I still have a shot at the national
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: tournament in Las Vegas for 2027. I can win another
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: singles board and qualify for it for the spring regional
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: in March. Well, best of luck to you, Patrick. I
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: hope you're able to do that. One texter said, let
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: me get to it. Good one, Scoots. I picked up
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: what you put down with the Admiral, even if it
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: flew over Michael's head. Well, you actually weren't doing that. Yeah,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: so here's the deal. That's the funny part. This is
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Jamie saying this.
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: I told Michael during one of those breaks, because 48
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Handley had reached out to me, and he was like,
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: I see what you did there, Admiral or whatever.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: That was not my intention.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: There's so many of you on the text line that
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: think there's all this hidden innuendo. There's not.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: No.
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: There's not.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: No, every now and then there's hidden innuendo.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: That's hilarious that two people pointed that out.
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Not just one, two people. Like Kid Rock said, it's
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: not cocky if you can back it up.
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: That's right.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: See, and you're exactly right. And Kid Rock is right.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: This is not cockiness. This is confidence. Okay, I was
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: being serious. What type of filling do you both like
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: when you were to be given donuts one day, say,
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: this week? Well, I'm cream-filled all the way.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: Is that what I like, too? I don't know. Like
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: the icing?
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Yeah, the icing in the middle. Not custard. Custard is
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: what I do not like. It's pudding. And I don't
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: like pudding. But no, I'm a cream-filled, and if you
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: bring him, guess what? You have to agree to come
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: on the radio. So anybody that brings me something for free,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: you're coming on the radio with me. Just saying. So
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: be prepared. One person said, UK should be in good shape.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Won't play a better quarterback than we already played. That
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: should stir up UofL fans.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: Ha!
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it was funny. Well, it wasn't funny, but UofL
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: was down 14-0 Friday night to Florida State. Almost could
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: have been down 21-0. It's like, ooh, this is not
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: going to be pretty. But credit to them. They came
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: back and won that game against a terrible Florida State game,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: but our team. So were you surprised by that? Not really.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: No, I think that, I mean, now the final margin,
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: maybe I was a little surprised at, but I thought
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: that was a game they should win.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Win. Zach said, congrats to you and your kitty kayats, Michael.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: I got to say with each and every passing week,
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I get more and more worried about the game to
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: end the season. As you should be. Exactly. You should
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: be worried. because this game's going to be in Lexington.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: I am now getting more and more confident about that game.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: As you should be. Yeah, yeah. And quite honestly, I'm
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: not worried about that game at all. I really predict
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: at this point, Will Stein's going to win that game
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: and UK's going to win that game.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: I mean, it would just mean more to Will Stein.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. Oh, it would mean a lot
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: to him. I mean, and the other part is, you know,
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: they talked about him coming to the last time UK
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: beat LSU. Or did you bring it up? And he
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: was there as a fan. Then he comes back as
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: a coach. That was the one question that lady asked.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: I don't know what her name is. And I thought,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: that's a great question right there. They did show a
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: picture of him during the broadcast.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: Oh, they did? Of him at that game.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: With his long hair and his Hollister's hair.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Oh, wow. It was hilarious. Yeah, yeah. 48 Handley said,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: IU is on the verge of setting the record for
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: most consecutive wins. The team who holds that record, Ohio State,
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: is their next opponent. I'm pumped.
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: So that's the motivation right there for Ohio State.
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: 22 straight wins. Can you believe that? Is it really?
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Can you imagine IU could potentially hold it for basketball
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: and football?
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: What do you mean? Longest wins? Yeah, longest win streak.
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: Basketball team has it?
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Don't they? They went undefeated. And then they only.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: Lost one game the year before.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Maybe they did. I don't know. I thought they did.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I could be wrong. You know how this show goes.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: One thing I was sad about over the weekend. Mike Ditka.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: Yeah, that was sad.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Oh, man. I loved Mike Ditka. Same. And because I
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: remember on Saturday Night Live, I remember him in that
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: soccer movie with Will Stein. Will Therrell. I mean, he just,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: not only was he, clearly he was a great football player.
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I didn't see him play football. I saw him coach.
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: I mean, I remember him on that 1985 game. uh,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: bears Superbowl, uh, win with the fridge, uh, Walter Payton.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I mean, just great, great players back then. And then
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: of course he was fun as an actor. I mean,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: I thought he was hilarious. Whatever character he took up,
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: he was funny.
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: He was in one of my favorite movies ever kicking
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: and screaming.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: That's the one I was talking about. That's with Will Ferrell,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: the soccer movie. So yeah, you're right about that. So
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: I was just, I was saddened to see the, the, uh,
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: the death of him. And, uh, or him passing away,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: and natural causes of what the reason was. But anyway,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I did think the funniest story of the weekend was
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the Montreal Canadiens were playing Detroit Red Wings over the weekend.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: And they have some kind of bit where they have
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: these inflatables. One is a hot dog, and the other
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: one's a hot dog bun. And the point of it is,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: if they get the hot dog into the bun in
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: a certain time frame... the fan base gets free hot dogs. Well,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: it didn't work out that way. The fan base decided
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: to throw the hot dog and the bun out into
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: the ice rink onto their own players. And I, the
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: players didn't like it. And I thought it was hilarious.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: And Montreal has already said, yeah, we're not going to sure.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: We're not sure we're going to be doing this again.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I mean, it was really embarrassing. That was hilarious.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: I don't remember who it was that did it in
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: the baseball season, but they did it ridiculously quick and
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: they won free hot dogs or whatever for everybody. And
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: it was awesome. The crowd went bananas. So when I
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: first saw this, this like happening at the hockey game,
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: I'm thinking, okay, well, they're going to get the hot
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: dog in the bun and everything's going to be all
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: fine and dandy.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: Right. And it went about as opposite of that as
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: it could.
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: I hear you. One person said, Arch Manning has the pedigree, Michael.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: It's just like a horse with a famous sire, kind
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: of like Northern Dancer. Ooh, good call right there. I
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: want Beamer at South Carolina, just like I wanted Cragthorpe
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: or Satterfield at Louisville. I would agree with that right there.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: And then last one is, don't bring a basketball to
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: the UK and not expect it to get taken. That
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: was LSU trying to be disrespectful. Okay, Scoot, sorry. I
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: gave you props there. Upon further review, the call is overturned.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: As it should have been. As it should have been.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: I got to tell you, today was a lot of fun.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: It was a lot of fun. I was looking forward
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: to today. I knew I was going to be pumped
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: up about it. But, man, it was a lot of
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: fun today. So, we'll have more fun tomorrow getting ready
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: for Oklahoma. So, we'll switch the page and move on
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: to that. And we'll talk some baseball, too. So, everybody,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: I appreciate all the texts. We'll see you tomorrow.
