- 0:00It's most things Kenobi, an elegant podcast for a more
- 0:04civilized fandom. Hello everyone, welcome to
- 0:21another episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan
- 0:25Kenobi and all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Leanne.
- 0:29And I'm your host, Lauren. And this is a special episode of
- 0:33Most Things Kenobi to celebrate Star Wars Podcast Day 2026,
- 0:39which happens this year on February 7th.
- 0:41So welcome everyone. This is our big podcast, Star
- 0:45Wars Podcast Day episode. Yeah, we've never participated
- 0:49before, so this is exciting. I'm I'm one of our listeners
- 0:53sent the event to me and she was like, you should join.
- 0:57And I was like, why not? We should join.
- 0:59Let's go. So this is it.
- 1:00This is our this is our entry episode.
- 1:05We're here every other Tuesday as it is, but this is a very
- 1:09special episode just for Star Wars podcast day and we have a
- 1:13special topic. We went to our patrons over at
- 1:17the most things Kenobi Patreon and we said hey, we're doing
- 1:21this thing for podcast day. Got any ideas?
- 1:25And oh man, they. Delivered as usual.
- 1:30Man, so many good topics. So now we have topic suggestions
- 1:33for like the next 70 episodes, regular episodes.
- 1:37It's true, yeah, yeah. If you're new here, we are
- 1:40obsessed with Obi Wan Kenobi and.
- 1:42And that's just the central point of the show, and this
- 1:46episode is no different. Yes it's very true.
- 1:48We we knew we had to do something at least Obi Wan
- 1:51related. I mean cause truth be told not
- 1:54every single one of our episodes is about Obi Wan.
- 1:58It always ends up we always end up speaking about them.
- 2:02Because most of the time, yeah. Most things Kenobi, you know the
- 2:06territory. But for this particular episode
- 2:09we are actually going to try and answer the question.
- 2:13What would have happened if Anakin Skywalker would have told
- 2:17Obi Wan instead of Mace that Palpatine was a Sith and was
- 2:24behind all of this nonsense all along?
- 2:26What would have happened? What can we surmise?
- 2:29It's a big what if because Obi Wan was somewhere else in the
- 2:32Galaxy, but are we assuming that he would have been on Coruscant
- 2:37or just assuming that things are the way they were in the movies
- 2:41where he was on Udupao and. The reason we have to at least
- 2:46agree that he was on you to Pal. Because Palpatine needed him to
- 2:51be away. He needed him like Obi Wan being
- 2:54anywhere near him, Padme being anywhere near him.
- 2:58He had to be isolated, which was Palpatine's entire plan anyway.
- 3:01Isolate Anakin and draw him away from the Jedi, the Council, the
- 3:08Republic, etcetera. So I guess the assumption would
- 3:12have to be he'd be at least on Coruscant for this to work.
- 3:18Obi Wan it would be. Obi Wan Yeah, yeah, a lot of
- 3:21things that have to go right for this what if to happen, but it's
- 3:24worth pondering. Yeah, that's the fun of the what
- 3:27if. So I feel like because they had
- 3:31made kind of quote, UN quote, made-up right before Obi Wan
- 3:34leaves, you know, they have that conversation as he's getting on
- 3:37his Starship and he it's the last time he says, you know, may
- 3:43the force be with you, my friend.
- 3:44And he says he's very proud of Anakin and, and.
- 3:48It hurts. To this day, I know God.
- 3:51I feel like if that conversation had still happened then there
- 3:55would be the possibility of a positive outcome from this.
- 4:01If that had not happened, there would have been a lot of tension
- 4:05between them. If Anakin had decided to come to
- 4:10Obi Wan, he still would have probably not felt fully that he
- 4:14trusted Obi Wan. Well, think of the things that
- 4:17have happened leading up to this, all the things that are
- 4:19considerations, whether or not Anakin told Mace or he told Obi
- 4:24Wan, there's still Rico Hardeen looming.
- 4:27That wasn't too far in the past. Yeah, from Revenge of the Sith.
- 4:34And Ahsoka has left at this point.
- 4:38And there's that whole section of Revenge of the Sith where
- 4:42Anakin gets asked to spy on the Chancellor and he hates being
- 4:45put in that position. And even if Obi Wan doesn't
- 4:49agree with the duplicity, he does not trust Palpatine.
- 4:54Right. So I do feel like if Anakin had
- 4:57told him he would have, Obi Wan would have believed Anakin
- 5:01because he didn't trust Palpatine already.
- 5:04Which is another reason why Palpatine needed him to be out
- 5:07of the picture. Get him out of here, go distract
- 5:09him on another planet. And it worked.
- 5:13The the problem is, I don't think it would have mattered.
- 5:16I've I've sat and thought about this and I've tried to come at
- 5:20it from different angles. Let's not forget the wills, OK?
- 5:24There's always the. Wills.
- 5:27Looming somewhere in the distance.
- 5:31If you want to hear more about our opinion and our thoughts on
- 5:34the wills, go back in our old episodes.
- 5:37We have one. We have a whole episode trying
- 5:39to dissect that. That being said, whether it's
- 5:44fate or not, let's just leave that out, OK?
- 5:48Yeah. Just don't know if if it would
- 5:51have worked because all Palpatine had to do was execute
- 5:55Order 66 and we'd have been right there.
- 5:58Now Anakin would have been on what I presume if Obi Wan would
- 6:02have taken his side and Palpatine didn't have like a
- 6:06moment alone with Anakin to talk him out of this.
- 6:08I would assume that Anakin would be on the fighting side with the
- 6:13rest of the Jedi that were taken aback by this, and I don't know
- 6:16that it would have done any good.
- 6:19I kind of agree with you too because even if instead of Mace
- 6:23Windu and all the Jedi who went with Anakin back to the
- 6:27Chancellor's office, if it had been Obi Wan, I don't know if
- 6:32that would have played out any differently.
- 6:35Because the whole reason Anakin gets pushed over the edge of
- 6:41that moment and cuts off Mace Windu's hand and everything is
- 6:44because of his love of Padme or his obsession with Padme, as
- 6:50we've talked. There's like a fine line there.
- 6:53And Palpatine is saying I can save your wife.
- 6:56And do you think Anakin would have behaved any differently if
- 7:00it had been Obi Wan? He might have even acted more
- 7:03emotionally in that moment because he and Obi Wan had more
- 7:07of a tie than he did with Mace Windu.
- 7:09You would have, I guess he was playing off his anger, maybe
- 7:12with Mace Windu more, but I think it could have laid the
- 7:18foundation for an even more brutal interaction if everyone
- 7:23had been there. That's a consideration if we're
- 7:27talking about the room where he, Mace and Palpatine have their,
- 7:32you know, and Mace goes flying out the window.
- 7:34Now, I've given shit. I've given Mace a lot of shit
- 7:36over the years, but he is. Yeah.
- 7:42I don't know if I'd say level headed, but he's not bias, OK,
- 7:46There's no biases there. Maybe, maybe, maybe a slight
- 7:51anti Anakin bias because he never believed that Anakin
- 7:54should become a Jedi in the 1st place, right?
- 7:56He had, he had qualms about it, we'll say, but here we are.
- 8:01OK. And Mace is a pretty good
- 8:04fighter. Mice.
- 8:06Mace is a pretty good diplomat when it comes to that sort of
- 8:10thing. Now Obi Wan has emotional ties
- 8:15to both Padme and Anakin and I do wonder if Obi Wan would have
- 8:20pleaded in that moment more than Mace.
- 8:24Like pleaded for him to see the light.
- 8:26Don't don't fall to this like you've been through this.
- 8:29Maybe naming off instances to bring Anakin back?
- 8:33But when did? When did Anakin ever listen to
- 8:36That's the? Fucking thing.
- 8:38That's the thing. Though Lindsay, why would he
- 8:40listen now? Yeah, why now of all times?
- 8:43Because he's never done it before.
- 8:45I mean, no, Anakin. Wait, isn't that this the joke
- 8:48summary of the prequel? Yes, yes.
- 8:50You want to sum it up in one sentence?
- 8:52That's pretty much it. I wonder if we switch out Obi
- 8:58Wan for Ahsoka would she have had any pull?
- 9:01That's that Might be another episode maybe of of.
- 9:05All people she might have because even Padme was not
- 9:09successful in bringing Anakin. Back I mean true fact.
- 9:14So is anyone capable other than Anakin himself and Luke
- 9:23Skywalker? I'm saving Anakin.
- 9:25I don't think so. And possibly because of the
- 9:27wills is you want to leave them at it's a destiny.
- 9:32I don't want to talk to them right now.
- 9:33I'm done with them professionally in this episode.
- 9:37But the point stands, like the question of destiny is a the
- 9:43fate of it all. You know, it's always there.
- 9:47We have to consider it all. I know.
- 9:49Is this the only way that I think Obi Wan would have had any
- 9:53sway with Anakin is if they were out of that room away from
- 9:58Palpatine and Obi Wan had time to talk to Anakin to listen to
- 10:01him. But if the problem with this,
- 10:06with all of this, is that Anakin at this point would not listen
- 10:12to anyone. Yeah, I was thinking the same
- 10:16thing. He's so far gone at this point,
- 10:18even though he's maybe doing OK on the surface, deep down he has
- 10:22so many doubts and so much pain. And a lot of that is displayed
- 10:29in Clone Wars, but a lot of it is in Revenge of the Sith.
- 10:31Right there, You know, he's telling Padme how conflicted he
- 10:36is and he's crying and he's so emotional and.
- 10:39He talks to Yoda. And of course, Yoda gives that
- 10:44roundabout no help at all kind of advice.
- 10:49Like give the boy something practical.
- 10:51Practical for the love of God. Now is not the time for riddles.
- 10:56Spell it out. This boy needs it spelled out.
- 10:59Yeah. I know I wish that there was a
- 11:01straight talker in the Jedi who weren't just talking in fluffy
- 11:05riddles all the time. But what fun would that be?
- 11:08What would we have to talk about?
- 11:10One person that you can go to at least to get a straight answer
- 11:14once in a while, but. Yeah.
- 11:17It's true even Obi Wan is not that person.
- 11:20No, we see that in the original trilogy with his, his from a
- 11:23certain point of view, business, I mean.
- 11:26And I always think of in Attack of the Clones, where he's aware
- 11:30that Anakin is having nightmares and he says dreams passing time.
- 11:34It's like that's not tangibly helpful.
- 11:37No, you can't help someone in the moment.
- 11:40Yeah, with. The troubles that Anakin see the
- 11:43problem is all of this is because Anakin felt like no one
- 11:46I was listening to him in the 1st place besides the Chancellor
- 11:50who always had time to listen to Anakin who always had a little
- 11:54bit of, you know, helpful advice to see through all the the fog
- 11:59Anakin at what the Jedi and the Republic are doing.
- 12:03Yeah. They don't listen to you,
- 12:04Anakin. They don't respect you.
- 12:06They don't respect you enough to even make you a master, you
- 12:09know. Yeah, I know.
- 12:12It's constantly whispering in his ear.
- 12:13Yeah, and that was his plan and it worked.
- 12:16And I think deep down, no matter how good or how close Obi Wan
- 12:21was with Anakin, I don't think it would have worked.
- 12:23That's the saddest thing. I would have enjoyed watching
- 12:28that. What if because it has the
- 12:30potential to be really heartbreaking.
- 12:33Yeah, like very deep and distressing, but also could have
- 12:37been, I mean the kind of place out I guess in the Kenobi series
- 12:41in a similar way at the end, but.
- 12:44Brings up a question I'd like to ask is what preceding all of
- 12:50this could have changed it so that if Obi Wan would have been
- 12:53the one he told it would have worked out?
- 12:59Rico Hardeen would not have, could not have happened.
- 13:02I know, I keep thinking of it too.
- 13:04It's such a deep betrayal, and it doesn't matter if it's for
- 13:11the greater good. That's the kind of thing where a
- 13:13friendship might survive on the surface, but I think it would be
- 13:18so ruptured deep down that you would never fully trust that
- 13:22person again. Well, think of who they called
- 13:25in. They called in Satine to make it
- 13:27believable. I know, I know.
- 13:31They've really abused a lot of trust, Yeah, in that episode.
- 13:37In many ways and through many lines of people and and and
- 13:42their relationship with Obi Wan. That is such an important arc in
- 13:47the Clone Wars that plays into this.
- 13:50You know, and what bothers me about Rachel Hardeen even more
- 13:54is there there should have been a much longer and deeper
- 13:59conversation between Obi Wan and Anakin after that was over.
- 14:03That's not a just one or two sentences and huff and huff away
- 14:07in anger. No, you sit down, you talk about
- 14:09it, and you talk about it multiple times.
- 14:12I feel that is possibly the only weak spot in Clone Wars is that
- 14:19they, and this is because it's a lighthearted kid show.
- 14:22And so you go monster of the week or you know, event of the
- 14:26week, and they never, they never follow up.
- 14:30But they could have because the show was so long and it was
- 14:33already tying into pre-existing material that they could have,
- 14:38like after Zygiria, after Mortis, after Raika Hardeen.
- 14:43These are all things that are kind of laying a foundation for
- 14:47what happens in Revenge of the Sith.
- 14:50But we don't talk about it. No, nobody talks about it.
- 14:53It's there, it happens, and we'd never discuss it again.
- 14:57And it even if it's not like the character sitting down, having a
- 15:00heart to heart because let's be honest, they would never do
- 15:02that. They're not that kind of person.
- 15:05None of them right, Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi Wan, none would
- 15:08sit down and be like, you know what, I need to talk to
- 15:10somebody. Well, the one time Anakin does
- 15:12he he goes to Yoda, the last person to form a a fucking
- 15:16sentence. You know what I mean?
- 15:20Yeah, but there should have been like little Easter eggs or
- 15:25references inside, references that you can see are like that.
- 15:30These experiences are creating the fabric of the character
- 15:35down, you know, later down the path.
- 15:38That's the, that's the only place in Clone Wars where I
- 15:40really wished they had done that.
- 15:42It's still like a, you know, as we've said, an amazing show.
- 15:46Well, yes. I, I don't have any complaints
- 15:49except that that would have been cool to see if they had
- 15:52peppered, peppered that in there.
- 15:53But I don't know. I, I don't, I don't know 'cause
- 15:58we have talked about this before too, 'cause we, I think we did
- 16:01an episode in one of our earliest episodes of if Yoda had
- 16:04sent Obi Wan to fight the Emperor, right when he said,
- 16:08please don't send me to kill Anakin.
- 16:10Like I can't do it. This kind of is like that
- 16:15scenario to me 'cause I wonder there's so much conflict in the
- 16:20way they portray Obi Wan and Anakin in Revenge of the Sith.
- 16:23You know in the beginning Obi Wan is like Sith Lords are our
- 16:26specialty and immediately gets knocked unconscious and falls on
- 16:30the ground for 45 minutes. I hate that so much.
- 16:34I know I hate it too. I hate it so much so.
- 16:36Bad. And actually they they do kind
- 16:39of the same thing in Attack of the Clones, though we wouldn't
- 16:42is fighting Dooku and immediately gets hurt in the leg
- 16:45and then is able to stand up no problem. 15 minutes later, he's
- 16:49fine. Don't forget, this is the same
- 16:51Kenobi that we see at the end of the Kenobi series, with the
- 16:55rocks and the fighting style and the I mean.
- 16:58Phantom Menace How many times did he fight Maul?
- 17:01In. Clone Wars, He's and like how?
- 17:05Well, I was gonna say. I can't stand it.
- 17:07Grievous. Yeah, but he shoots Grievous to
- 17:10kill him, which we've also discussed.
- 17:12But yes. So if he and Anakin had gone to
- 17:18confront Sidious together, yeah, I'm not sure it would have
- 17:24worked. I don't think his.
- 17:25I don't. He might have gotten knocked
- 17:27unconscious immediately. Are we talking about George
- 17:30Lucas or we talk about the spirit of these characters?
- 17:34Because I know two different things.
- 17:37But we've also talked about Obi Wan is the only one to
- 17:40consistently defeat, yes, a Sith.
- 17:42Very true. Yep, Maul is a Padawan.
- 17:47Vader multiple times and Maul again later.
- 17:51Yeah, and Ventress multiple times.
- 17:55I guess he never really fully defeated Dooku, but he held his
- 17:58own fairly well a few times. But of all of the characters we
- 18:02see, Obi Wan is the only one we see who actually defeats Sith
- 18:07Lords. Yeah.
- 18:10And so he would probably be the only one who stood a chance,
- 18:14although I I guess maybe Yoda did.
- 18:15He's been alive 900 years. Maybe he's fought some Sith in
- 18:18the past. But let's let's.
- 18:20Not let's not half ass Yoda's attempt with with cities because
- 18:25it was brilliant and well done and he knew when to get the hell
- 18:30out of there. Too.
- 18:32Yeah, it was a real shame the way it turned.
- 18:34Out. Yeah, yeah.
- 18:36But like so if Anakin and Obi Wan had gone to face Sidious
- 18:40together in his office in that little scenario, what do you
- 18:44think would have? Happened, I don't think because
- 18:46Anakin doesn't believe anything, he's not going to fight when
- 18:49he's when he is truly, truly believing, convicted, he's
- 18:54feeling it. He fights the best he's ever
- 18:57fought. There's no stopping Anakin when
- 18:59he believes in his cause and he goes for it.
- 19:02But when he's, if there's any confidence, shaken at all
- 19:07because he's, he's doubtful, he's mistrusting.
- 19:10He's, you know, you see him waver.
- 19:12He has no conviction. He doesn't know who to trust.
- 19:15He doesn't trust himself. He's not emotionally mature
- 19:17enough to listen to to anyone really.
- 19:22That's such a good point because he he thought he could trust
- 19:26Sidius Palpatine. Turns out he's a Sith Lord.
- 19:29He's really conflicted about how he feels about the Jedi, but he
- 19:32goes and he tells them what he knows anyway, hoping that it
- 19:35will be the right thing. They tell him to stay there
- 19:38because they know he's conflicted.
- 19:40Exactly. And they go to deal with Sidius,
- 19:43and while he's waiting he starts to question it again and can't
- 19:47stay there and goes back to Sidius's office and it's just
- 19:51like every move he makes. My poor boy heart.
- 19:56Heartbreaking. Yeah.
- 19:58And just gets him deeper and deeper into exactly what Sidious
- 20:04had planned for him. And it's just Greek tragedy.
- 20:08It, it, it really I, I mean, I guess it was meant to be that
- 20:11way because. Yeah.
- 20:13That one time he ponders and makes the right choice is with
- 20:17Luke. He finally frees himself of
- 20:22these chains from Sidious and does it out of love for his son.
- 20:26Brilliant. Love it.
- 20:27We love Luke. Yeah, we need more Luke, but he
- 20:31he's he's second guesses and thinks about.
- 20:34I mean, I don't think he believed for a second if Luke
- 20:37joined him, they could take Sidious.
- 20:39That's just old dialogue in his invaders mind, right.
- 20:44Kind of like the old regime. Still kind of.
- 20:46He's going through the But no, he, he, he, you know, he was
- 20:51doubting that whole time. Every time Sidious would talk to
- 20:53him about all this stuff and everything.
- 20:54He's still thinking about Luke. He loved him.
- 20:56Padme, Luke. Ah, and there's another one.
- 20:58I have a daughter, you know all this stuff.
- 21:02I'm in a glass case of emotion. He is in a glass case of emotion
- 21:09and goo because he has to be there every night.
- 21:14The tank of. Goo.
- 21:16Yes, it's true. But he makes the right decision
- 21:19in the end, thank God. But.
- 21:21Yeah. If he did, what would have
- 21:23happened if he'd have just stayed where he was?
- 21:27And didn't go. When Mace told him the whole.
- 21:30The whole Galaxy could have been a lot happier.
- 21:33But then maybe all Sidious had to do was execute Order 66 and
- 21:38they would have all been caught off guard anyway.
- 21:40The chip was still in the clone's brain.
- 21:42You're right. Yeah, I kind of keep forgetting
- 21:45about that part. Well.
- 21:46The IT was the kingpin it was or the linchpin.
- 21:48What is it? What's it?
- 21:49Called Linchpin. Thank you.
- 21:51Linchpin, linchpin pin pin pin pin.
- 21:53So the whole thing was for naughty anyway.
- 22:00Because. Yeah, there's going to be
- 22:02hundreds and thousands of clones just killing Jedi left and
- 22:05right, regardless of how this went.
- 22:08Where in the timeline does he say execute order 66?
- 22:12Is it? It's after.
- 22:15He's disfigured or before that. Because he gets on with Cody and
- 22:20Anakin is already deemed Darth Vader.
- 22:23Remember, he kneels and does the whole thing.
- 22:26Yeah, I don't, I don't remember. I mean, yes, I do.
- 22:31I remember that. I just like don't remember the
- 22:33precise timeline because I'm wondering like is there a window
- 22:38where if they had killed him before, would he not have gotten
- 22:41around to even giving the trigger?
- 22:43It's immediately after Anakin turns to the dark side and Mace
- 22:46window is killed. OK, so it might have been
- 22:51avoided if Anakin hadn't followed Mace to Sidious's
- 22:55office, if Sidious had been successful.
- 22:58But do you think? That really.
- 23:01Mace stood a chance. It's so obvious to me that
- 23:04Sidious is messing with him. He's like toying with him while
- 23:09they're. Fighting.
- 23:09Oh yeah, Mace could have stood a chance.
- 23:13He had him down. He had the high ground,
- 23:17technically. I mean, he was.
- 23:21Standing in that moment while the, you know, the electrical
- 23:26bolts are coming back at city of cities being disfigured and he's
- 23:30like, I can't hold on. I've always felt like he was
- 23:32just full of shit I think. He's full of shit.
- 23:35Totally fine with becoming disfigured if it meant that his
- 23:40plan would still work. It's like he's, he's so
- 23:44committed to. The idea he had conviction,
- 23:48yeah. I felt like he was always just
- 23:50using like appearing piteous so that Anakin would.
- 23:56Oh, for sure, for sure. Yeah, I don't know.
- 23:59That's always the vibe I got. I've never seen like, read
- 24:03anywhere to confirm if that's what's really happening.
- 24:06I have read The Revenge of the Sith but I don't remember that
- 24:09scene from the book. Like off the top of my head but.
- 24:12There is the old film thing where good guy has bad guy in
- 24:20his clutches, but he wants to talk to him first for about 5 to
- 24:2410 minutes before ending his life and bad guy gets away
- 24:28because good guy wants to talk to him for a minute.
- 24:30You know what I'm saying? Just cut his head off.
- 24:34Be done with it. You don't have to stand there
- 24:36and preach. You don't have to stand there
- 24:38and say how could you do this? I'm not saying that Mace did or
- 24:42was going to or anything. No, that's what Mace was trying
- 24:45to kill him. And Anakin is the one who's
- 24:46like, he must stand trial. It's like now you're being a
- 24:50diplomat. Like now you believe in
- 24:53democracy. Anakin, Since when?
- 24:55Throw that whole thing out because Ahsoka's trial was such
- 24:59bullshit and Anakin knew it. So knowing that Ahsoka's trial
- 25:03was a bunch of bullshit, Anakin should have been like, you know
- 25:06what? We're not taking this man to
- 25:08trial. Kill him.
- 25:09Like if we, if we would, if I'm getting excited, my hands are
- 25:15going. Nobody can see, but I'm my hands
- 25:17are going if we rewind. And perhaps if Revenge of the
- 25:22Sith was written after Ahsoka's trial, there would have been a
- 25:27little more Hemming and Han, because Anakin would have that
- 25:29to consider as well. He may have made the right
- 25:31choice and said fuck it, kill him.
- 25:34Yeah, maybe. Because who?
- 25:36Who put Ahsoka through all that? Palpatine, the Jedi, all of
- 25:42them. You know, it was all kind of
- 25:43orchestrated. Yeah, it was.
- 25:47And I mean, obviously in the in Attack of the Clones, right,
- 25:52that's when Anakin starts to talk to Padme about how stupid
- 25:55democracy is. But Clone Wars is where you see
- 25:59him take matters into his own hands over and over.
- 26:05So I kind of wonder because obviously Clone Wars was, you
- 26:08know, George Lucas's last Star Wars project, so he would have
- 26:11known. So what is it that is happening
- 26:14with Anakin in that moment where he suddenly is like, no, we
- 26:17should stand trial? Is he trying to do the right
- 26:20thing again? Is he just so conflicted and
- 26:23confused that he's no longer himself?
- 26:26I just, it's so out of character for him.
- 26:29It's a great question. It's always been a weird moment
- 26:32to me, but. It's a great question because
- 26:34wouldn't don't the Jedi say that they have to stand trial and
- 26:38Mace is actively going against the Jedi?
- 26:41That's the whole. Problem.
- 26:42The extrajudicial killing, basically, yeah.
- 26:46No second thoughts about it. But Anakin says it when when he
- 26:51first meets Tarkin in the Clone Wars, when they're coming out of
- 26:53the Citadel, right? Yeah, he says, I don't think the
- 26:58Jedi do enough. We should just go in there.
- 27:01And I don't remember the exact quote, but he basically implies
- 27:04like we need to make decisions that sometimes.
- 27:06Don't. Yeah, they don't.
- 27:07They don't go far enough. Yeah.
- 27:08That's it. So where's this Anakin when
- 27:12we're moments away from ending Palpatine?
- 27:14He liked Palpatine, that's the problem.
- 27:18He had a relationship with him and Palpatine.
- 27:23Sidious, whatever, managed to whittle away at the trust that
- 27:29Anakin had, what little trust he had, and he got him isolated
- 27:35from Obi Wan. Ahsoka's gone.
- 27:40Anyone that mattered to him, there's doubts about.
- 27:43Padme could die and all this. No wonder he was so damn
- 27:47confused. Let's give Anakin a little bit
- 27:49of a little bit of credit. He's still very young.
- 27:54Yeah, he didn't stand a chance. No, he.
- 27:56Never did. He never did, and that's the
- 27:58saddest part. And that's why I find him one of
- 28:01the most more interesting and fascinating characters, because
- 28:04he's such a puppet. And while every decision made is
- 28:08his own, the influences through it all, from the slavery through
- 28:16the to the wills to all the brainwashing and shit and the
- 28:20and the misleading and the puppet strings and the and
- 28:23everything. Yeah.
- 28:25Never stood chance. No.
- 28:29And I that's why I also don't think Obi Wan, even though that
- 28:32it would have been very interesting to see that play out
- 28:34and I would like to see it play out, I don't think the end
- 28:38result would be any different. And then they just, they
- 28:43wouldn't even have a chance to like digest it because order 66
- 28:47would happen and then they'd have to immediately go on the
- 28:49defense. Yeah.
- 28:52OK so final word, if Anakin had talked to Obi Wan instead of
- 28:57Mace, would it have changed anything?
- 28:59My answer no. I agree.
- 29:02Too many pre-existing conditions.
- 29:04Yeah, yeah, exactly. It might have even made things
- 29:07worse between Obi Wan and Anakin to be honest.
- 29:10And ended in a bloodbath, let's be honest.
- 29:12Truly. And maybe, maybe we wouldn't
- 29:15have had Obi Wan to help save Luke and Leia.
- 29:19Yeah, later on. So in in a strange twist of fate
- 29:25perhaps of the wills, Obi Wan went to Utah POW and essentially
- 29:30saved the the Galaxy instead by saving the children.
- 29:34I love that this is the last thought I'm having when we're
- 29:36trying to close out, but the thing that would have been
- 29:38different is that Vader would not have been dismembered.
- 29:43What fun would that be? He would have been full powers
- 29:50that Lord and I think things would have been a lot.
- 29:52Worse than he, actually. That would be pretty fun now
- 29:55that I think. About it shit, no, the whole the
- 29:58whole thing on Moussafar would not have happened if Obi Wan had
- 30:01been there with him. So that would have set a whole
- 30:04different trajectory. And then this is my and now for
- 30:06my final thoughts. I love this, Prager would say.
- 30:13But I think that would be another episode.
- 30:15We could talk about it if Vader had never been maimed.
- 30:20Oh that would be a fun one. I'm going to add that to our
- 30:22list. Add it to the list.
- 30:24See, we never stop over here at Most Things Kenobi.

- 31:01All right, join us back next time.
- 31:02We have picked a really fun episode and I'm already kind of
- 31:05giddy about it. Me too.
- 31:08Leanne had the idea of talking about all the different hallway
- 31:11scenes where Obi Wan fights his way out of a hallway.
- 31:15And I am so ready to. Listen, I can name like 5 off
- 31:19the top my head and that's without doing research.
- 31:21You know there's more. So the man loves a good hallway
- 31:26fight. It's going to be violent.
- 31:30Yes, which we love Obi Wan when he's being violent.
- 31:36He's got the most severed limb, like the highest tally, I think
- 31:42in Ellis Star Wars, but and some of that I'm sure occurred in
- 31:45these hallway scenes. So we'll we'll talk about that
- 31:48next time. And thank you so much for
