Transcript
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: The world doesn't think that the gospel can change your life, but we know that it can.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And that's why we want you to hear these stories: stories of transformation, stories of freedom, people getting free from sin and healed from sin because of Jesus.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: This is death to life.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: Yo, welcome to the Death Alive Podcast.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: My name is Richard Young, and today's guest is a returning guest, and one that is blessed and loved in our community.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, he he blesses us almost every week.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Uh and his name is David Hunt.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: And David has been through a lot of things uh the last couple years since we recorded his his first episode, and uh he wanted to testify of God's goodness.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: So I said, uh, let's go, David.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Let's talk about it.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: And so David is going to encourage us with walking in the spirit while things aren't doing awesome.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: And so uh pay attention, listen in here, buckle up and strap in.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: This is gonna be David.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Love y'all and appreciate y'all.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: David.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: What's up, brother?
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: I'm good, man.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I'm good because God is good.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And uh that is the essence of the gospel.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and so yeah, it's it's been quite a journey, and I'm still on it, and I'm grateful to God for um what he has been able to show me along the way, you know.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Hey, when did we record your last episode?
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Remind me.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Bro, I cannot remember it.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: No, you're supposed to remember.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: I've not I I I can't remember.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Was it two years ago?
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: Was it three years ago?
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Was it last year?
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: 186, I believe, is the number.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, so that has to be two years ago because we're on 260 something, 270 something, I think.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And that would be, and you know, 52 weeks in a year, we might take a week or two off every once in a while, but that's that's like a hundred episodes away.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: That was like 90 episodes away, man.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: So almost two years.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, wow.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Anything happened in those two years?
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Um, if I said no, I'd probably be lying.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: So yeah, stuff has happened in that in those two years.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Um my son got married.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I have a grandchild now.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: You're looking at the original G Pop.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: G-pop.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's that's that's who I am.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, I've had you know family member pass away.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: My mom passed away recently, so yeah, so a lot has happened in the interim uh between the first uh first interview and and this one.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: I lost my job.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: You lost your job.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: How how long ago did that happen?
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Walk us through how you dealt with that.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: And I think some of us, you know, you shared a little bit with the love read, like the internet church people, but I feel like you're on a Bible study or a call every single day.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: I don't think you miss a call.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: And so the people that are on the calls where there's maybe 20 or 30 people, they get they get the more inside information.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: How long like when how long ago did that happen?
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: You losing your job?
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I lost my job last year.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: It was um June 30th.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: June 30th was um so 2025, June 30th, 2025.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: The last day of the fiscal year for whatever uh for the you're working for the church.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Our fiscal year is is the December, it's the it's January to December.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, they don't do it like my conference did it July 1 was the beginning of the fiscal year.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some conferences do, and they you know they do it to match the schools because most schools in the U.S., their fiscal year ends the 30th of June.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Um, it makes it easier.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: School's done, the year's done, ramp up for the banks.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: So anyway, so June 30th, that was the the the year they decided they wanted to go in a different direction, so that was what happened.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: So when you were hearing that that was a possibility to happen, talk to me.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Did all the fear come in, or how long did you have ahead of time?
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: How did you deal with that this is a possibility that this might happen?
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, I I um uh they gave me uh severance package.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Um they gave me a month, sorry.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: They gave me a month.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: It was maybe a month and like three days notice.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, so that you know, all of the things I could set my stuff up, I could start looking for another job.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Um and I started looking, and you know, it was it was you know, it had ups and downs, you know, in those those times, and there were times when, you know, I felt sorry for myself and I would you know imagine scenarios, you know, it's like well, what happened?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: You know, there's a Sesame Street skit that says, and I wonder what would happen if I don't know if you've ever seen that, but it's it's it's logical.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: It's ingrained in my mind.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: You know, so that sort of um scenarios would play out where, you know, I get another job and it's like I leave early, or you know, all of all of these things were running through my mind.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: And so it was it was a but basically a lot of it had to do with, you know, just feeling sorry for myself, but also knowing that with the encouragement of the saints, because I did mention it to you know several people, and mentioned it in Bible studies here and there, that God would keep me.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: And I always had that.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: I had that on the on the bottom line that God would keep me.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And so it was also around this time, like in June, I lost my job, and then in August, my son got married, and um, you know, they were living with us for a few months until they got their own place.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Um so that was exciting.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, there were there was good things happening in that space um of time.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Um, they'd given me a severance package so I could, you know, live off of that while I was, you know, trying to find my feed.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, that how that how that went for a few months.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: When you noticed that you were feeling sorry for yourself, did you I mean, did you notice all the time that when you were feeling sorry for yourself that you were, or did it like afterwards where you're like, oh, I I've been feeling sorry for myself?
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: How did you try to change your mind?
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Now I'm much more aware of it's like, oh, yeah, I'm doing this because I'm feeling sorry for myself.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: It's become a more conscious thing.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: But at the time, you know, it wasn't I wasn't aware of it until after.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Um, you're you're you get that tense feeling, and you're just like, why am why am I feeling all of this tension in my body?
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Um and so, and and you have been very instrumental in helping to codify or to provide a framework mentally so that you could know it's like, oh, you know, is it you're kind of just feeling a little bit sorry for yourself.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: So I hate when I realize it, and then I realize that me hating this isn't gonna help either.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: So it's like compassion for myself while knowing, oh, I've been thinking this way, and this thinking has led to you know, nothing good.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And so, and then me hating myself for me thinking that way also not gonna do anything good.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: I just need to change my mind in this moment.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: I don't need to just regret, and I don't need to worry about the future.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Like in this moment, nobody owes me anything.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: God loves me, I'm here to shine.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: And the moments where it's hitting the phone, that's when we get to shine the most.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Sometimes people think we shine the most when we get the new house, a new car, we just got married, you know.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: I don't think that's when we shine the most because to be honest, David, I've seen you shining.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: And in these last year and a half, two years, I've just seen you shining.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: And I think it's because, man, the circumstance, man.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Like you're you're not in it's not the worst thing that's ever happened to anybody, but it's it's not the easiest thing that's happened to anybody either.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: And so I see you encouraged, and so like that that that's a testimony to me.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I thank you for saying that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: And you know, the thing is sometimes in the moments you're not really thinking like, well, I I don't I don't know, you know, that this is a uh a shining light moment, you know, like the Matthew 5.16.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let your light so shine, and that men would see what you do and give glory to God.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: So that's that's um, you know, losing a job, um, my son getting married later on in December of the same year, getting a um a baby, grandbaby.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Um that kind of helped to reshape a lot of the the things because you hold that baby in your arms and realize, man, this is this is like you get a fresh glimpse of what God's love is, and so you realize that that love that you have for this this child can't love you back in the same way, doesn't have the mental capacity as a baby to reciprocate, can just hold on to your finger or you know, just you know, look into your eyes and see and feel the love in that way.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: A lot of times love is just communicated, you know, through that look um through the baby.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: And um, yeah, it that was just a powerful reminder of God's love.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: And I think I may have mentioned that uh in a Bible study or two throughout this time, you know.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: So the other thing that happened was is like, well, the money started getting kind of low, um, and I wasn't finding like the job opportunities.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: You know, because you're looking at the traditional route.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, you look to the jobs, you go to all the job websites, um, you know, indeed or, you know, LinkedIn jobs, you know, that they all have pretty much the same jobs.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, everybody's posting the same things on all over.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, you go to the company's websites and you apply and you take your resume and you put it up into AI, see if they could like make it even more stronger to fit the job.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: It's a whole process, each job application.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Instead of you just taking your resume as it is, hitting apply, taking a cover letter, just changing the name of the company, and you know, putting on the date, you want to make sure those are you know matching the current day.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Send it in.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's not that simple anymore.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: And companies now they get your resume, they run it through their own AI checker to see if your job really fits, and then you know, if that passes, then they call you back or they send you an email and we say, hey, we would like to interview you.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: And so didn't this sound like a nightmare?
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: It's it's rough out here in these streets, okay?
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: It it it's I haven't thought about that.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: They're it's all a bunch of AI stuff then.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Like you're using AI to get the job, they're using AI to keep you from getting the job.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Um how how many did you get a lot of bites then?
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Were people interested?
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: No, um a lot of it is they look at when I graduated with my bachelor's, which was in 1994, that's 32 years ago.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Last year would be 31 years ago.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: They look at when I graduated with my master's, which would be 29 years ago.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: 29?
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Something like that.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: 2007.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: So that's yeah, that's 19 years ago.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: I got my master's.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: So in the last five years, AI has become almost ubiquitous, almost like standard things for IT professionals to have incorporated into their workflows.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: And because I was out of the job and not really um focusing on that aspect, and I spoke to another coach or another another um person in the know, uh, one you're highly familiar with.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: We fam.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Uh we was like, yo, Dave, this stuff is, you know, you just go through and do this.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, yes, I totally understand.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: But I um I didn't make the space, and this was only in the last two or three months that he's he's mentioned this to me.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe less.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Uh but anyway, regardless, it was something that was mentioned recently to me, and I acknowledge that it is something that I can do.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: And I've started little by little to get into it.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Um and so there are ministry opportunities that God has placed in my path, and one of the things that I feel called to do is to continue to let God lead me.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: And so recently, um, you know, I've been challenged to take all of this stuff into the secret place.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: And really and truly, it was something that I knew intellectually, but until you really get it in here, like you can know the scriptures.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: The Pharisees memorize Torah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you think about it, those guys had the Torah down, so when they're arguing one point or another, it's like they knew the scriptures.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: But with all of that knowledge, they still did not acknowledge God.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: I mean Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Um, even though they didn't say that Nicodemus believed, he came out with it during the the crucifixion, after the crucifixion, with Joseph of Arimathea and others who secretly believed but didn't want to lose their position.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Um and, you know, for me, I think being let go from my job was a blessing in disguise because then I didn't have to like, you know, for fear of losing my job, start really talking about the gospel.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Um you think if you would have really shared what you believed about the gospel?
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: I would have been gone sooner.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Oh mercy.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Fix it, Jesus.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't fix it, Jesus.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: I don't know that for sure.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: No one said that because all they said was we're going in a different direction.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: That's all that's what they said.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: So it is what it is.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: And um so as you have been learning about getting a new job, putting yourself out there, all these resumes, all this stuff with AI, what are what are some of like the spiritual lessons that you have learned that if someone is in your same spot, what have you learned that oh, don't do this, this one put like this one caused heartache, don't do that, and do this.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: What what what would you say you've learned over the last year and a half of uh what I think the thing the number one thing is um just just meditating on the word of God?
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: I heard um uh several people talk about this.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, you've been talking about this the last few times, and I've heard you speak.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Um the real thing is getting into the secret place and letting God love on you is to such a point that you're rock solid, so that no matter what the circumstances of life bring you, you're able to to um just be at peace.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Um recently my mom uh passed away here in the last month or month of a half, I forget the time.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: September 6th.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: We're now this today is at the this recording where October 1st.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: So it's been about just about a month.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Um and there are times when you know I experienced great sadness.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Um I think about her not being here with us anymore, but at the same token, I know that she knew who her redeemer was.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Um even though she in her later years was losing her mental capacity uh through the various stages of dementia.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Um but still the legacy of love that she had shown to me personally and to others um for many, many years, you know, I still had the peace in that regard.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: And um, even though I mourn, I don't mourn as those who have no hope.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Mercy.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: And so, in order to have that, you'd have to meditate on the word and get that into your spirit so that you're not extremely sad all the time, and that is all you experience.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: So I just I would just encourage people to meditate on the word.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: You know, um, just before this, I heard um Jackie Perry was talking about it.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know if you know who Jackie Perry was.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, of course.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: I've read her book.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when she first started as a young Christian, she was celebrated in the church and encouraged along the way, but was never really discipled until you know she mentioned to someone, like, yo, I'm having this issue.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: And they were like, She was expecting them to say, Well, you gotta fast and pray.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: And the main thing they said was, no, you gotta meditate on the gospel.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: Until that is true, so that you know that Jesus is Lord and that he loves you with an everlasting love.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: And he is he's there for you, and he's forgiven you, and he's ready to walk with you and to talk with you, as the old uh song says, and he walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am his own, so that you get that into your spirit so that you know that, okay, God is with me, God is walking with me, and you can set your mind on the things of earth.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: And I, as I was hearing her talk about all of this stuff to meditate on the gospel, I was reminded, and we've talked about this before, Richard, about the Psalm 1 dude.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: The dude that David mentions in in Psalm 1, the guy who meditates on, they said the law, but really the law is love the Lord your God, love your neighbor as you have been loved.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: And the Bible says, as You love yourself as as yourself.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: You can't love yourself until you realize how God has loved you.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: And um, so just being like a tree planted by the rivers of water, whose whose leaf doesn't wither.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, in every season, yeah, we're I'm looking out the window right now and the fall colors that are starting to come in this week, the beginning of October here, the reds and the yellows and this, but the leaf, those leaves wither.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: They're not like the evergreen, which stays green all year round.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: Their leaf doesn't wither.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: Yes, some of the leaves fall when they reach their end of life cycle, but it's the tree itself is always green.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: And um, if you squeeze a pine tree, you'd get, you know, pine juice come out.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: And there's um Dan Muller or whatever.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: But yeah, great guy.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: I listen to him all the time.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: He's like, yo.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: If you squeeze a Christian, Christ should come out.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: And um, that's that's a powerful, powerful, powerful testimony.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: And so I would encourage someone to meditate, and all that to say, you meditate on the gospel and let that, let God's grace empower you to live a life that's connected and solid and uh not shaken by the circumstances that's around.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: So in this last year, year and a half or so, you know, you've experienced the loss of your mother, you lost your job.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Would you say that at the beginning of all of this, you were like, I know what it's gonna look like?
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: Did you have an idea, like, oh, I'm just gonna get a job right away, or or has it been a surprise to you what it's looked like?
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: It really has been surprised.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: I thought I would get a job right away.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: In fact, there were several jobs that looked really promising.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I kind of set my mind, it's like, oh, I'm gonna get that job and be good.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: And I didn't get those jobs.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, I didn't even get a call back.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, some you may be tempted to think it's like, well, I'm not good.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, you question your identity, but it is like what I've come to realize is like my identity isn't what I do, but it is in who I am.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: My my brother, after I lost my job, he was like, My brother just says he just says stuff straight up.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: He has no chill.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: He was like, Richard, do you feel like less of a man since you lost your job?
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: It's like because men tie their worth to their ability to produce.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: So of course you're not producing, do you think yourself is less than?
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: And I was like, and I love my brother, but and I was like, Man, some some people might be offended.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: Some people, not me, but some people might be offended.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: And I just said, you know what?
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: If I if I tied my worth to um to that, I guess I would have to feel less than, like there would be no choice.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: I said, but I don't tie my worth to that.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: And he was like, no, and I wish I could think like you.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, well, you can.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: You just you just can't tie your worth to to these things.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Um did it come for me every once in a while?
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: Does it come for you, or you're like, you're like, no, I am not gonna tie my value to what someone's gonna pay for me to fix their computer.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: Actually, when I was in Trinidad for my mother's uh celebration, life celebration, uh, someone asked me, Well, what do you do?
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: And they were a very successful person in their field.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I hesitated for a little bit, and I just said, you know, well, you know, I help people.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: You know, I just I don't have a steady job in fact, which is not true.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm a um delivery specialist.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: What I'm what I'm saying.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: A delivery specialist.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for those of who don't know, I deliver, you know, for DoorDash.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: Um deliver fine dining to the people of the uh the the Boston metro area and they're the of Massachusetts.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: Just uh um a superior delivery dining experience.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: Give me five stars or don't don't rate me at all, you know?
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: Five stars or nothing.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: And actually, I have there's one person that gave me four stars, so I'm actually 4.99.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: That makes it more legit though.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Because if everyone was just giving you five, like somebody would look at that and be like, that's a machine.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: He's I mean, do most people have straight fives?
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: There are people with straight fives, yeah, absolutely.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: Oh well now.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just like, well, you know, you you you put it too close to the door, so it kind of almost knocked over when they opened the door.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: Or they said to deliver to the apartment, but the apartment door was the main door was locked, so I couldn't get upstairs to deliver to the apartment.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: David, I'm inclined to believe that that person is what we call a hater.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: You know, or someone calls and says, I didn't deliver the package or I delivered the wrong order.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: When it the order matches what's on the bag and from the restaurant and what they did order is what they got.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: But they said I they got the wrong order, so I get uh you know, dinged for that.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: But you know, it is.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: That's solid, man.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: It's pretty solid.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: It's like over 3,900 deliveries, 3911 is the last number I think I saw deliveries in the last year.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: So tell me about tell me about how you get to manifest Christ in the what did you call it, in the delivery specialist specialist field.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: Well, like here's the thing.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Before, while I when I first started, you know, they they track a lot of metrics, you know, your on-time rate, you know, your completion rate, um, and a bunch of different things, your acceptance rate.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: And for when I first started, I really would get hung up on if the system marked me late, but there was a huge traffic jam, or you know, a school bus, or some some other mitigating factor.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: The train, there's a cargo train that, you know, took forever to cross, or the bridges out, and then I had to take a detour to go around.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: You know, all of these things, and I would call and be upset and get all mad and in my fields, and quote unquote, why do you say it with me?
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Feeling sorry for myself.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: You're just driving around in that car just feeling sorry for yourself.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Man, I'll just be like, man, this, and it's like it's an AI app.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: Now it's run by AI, all of the things.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: There are there are live agents on the back end that you, you know, when you call Doordash, you're speaking to AI at first, until you can just bypass, you know, say what I gotta say to get me to a live agent.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Because the live agent can make the change.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: The AI agent cannot.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: And I tell it all the time, it's like, you cannot help me.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: Can you just transfer me to a live agent?
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: It's like, no, well, I can't.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: No, anyway, well, regardless.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: So when I first got in there, I was in my fields.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, you wouldn't build it.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: But but as I've been learning and and growing in God's grace and his mercy, I've come to realize, oh, this is who I am.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: This is just a tool that God is using to provide for my family until I get to my next aside.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: And so I developed a system of being consistent, letting the customer know, hey, I'm at the restaurant.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Hey, I'm waiting.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Your order wasn't ready when I got here.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it is, and I could just grab it and go and tell them it's like, hey, the GPS is telling me that I'll be here at such and such time.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: And for the most part, I stick to that.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: You know, if that time I cannot do, and these are different text snippets that I've come to like figure out this is what I'm gonna say over time, and I use those to provide.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: Like copy and paste it so you could just be like bam, bam, and just and just move like so.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: I know I can just copy and paste it so I don't have to, you know, spend a lot of time writing it out.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: And um, and that's usually, you know, it's easy to do.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, you're stopped at a light.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, now I can send the messages because I don't want to do it while, you know, while I'm driving.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Arrive alive, yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, driving alive.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, the other thing is too, I got into a car accident.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: But we're gonna talk about that in a second.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we'll talk about that in a second.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: Keep going.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: So there is um, you know, people have said to me, like, man, thank you so much for taking the time.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: There was one lady that I've delivered to like a couple of times, and I make sure the food is hot.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: I've learned over time to really uh give 100% each and every time.
- 37:18SPEAKER_00: I've learned to smile with people, I've prayed for people.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, just being the the smile.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: There are people who have encouraged me.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: Uh one guy that I um one guy that I spoke to, he's like, man, thank you for what you're doing.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: This is making a difference in my life.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: And that really encouraged me that day.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: Um just so powerful to realize that God is working.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: Even in this, you know, seeing the homeless on the side of the road as I'm driving.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: That has been um a witness and sharing God's love as as much as I can.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: You know, I think there was one day I was wearing the love reality shirt.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: Jesus forgave you a long time ago.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Someone said to me, like, oh man, that's so good.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: Um there was one lady that saw my uh my um The Chosen, the five and two.
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you could see.
- 38:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I see it.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: Five and two.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: And she's like, what's that?
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: And I got this like, oh, it's a TV series on the life of Jesus.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: You know, it's called The Chosen.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: She's like, wow, thank you for sharing that.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: I was really curious about it.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and so that has been a blessing, just being able to share God's love by one doing what I'm doing with excellence, but also making sure that they know that Jesus loves them.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: So Yeah.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: Have there been moments where like you got in your feelings, and how did God snap you out of that?
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: Like when you when you did get in your feelings.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: So I remember one night, um, it might have been earlier on when I was in Boston, and um I think there was a I was in this was a particular night I was really, really down on myself because you know the system kept marking me late consistently, and um I delivered to a house, and I start I remembered the text is like, God, you will keep me in perfect peace when my mind is stayed on you.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: This is the same thing you're talking about, meditating.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: As I started talking about, the one thing that I've learned is meditating on the gospel.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: God will keep you in perfect peace when your mind is fixed on him.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: This is Colossians chapter 3, this is Psalm 1, this is all of these texts coming back together.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: Man, and I remember I it was a dead end street, so I had to turn around.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: And the place where I turned, I hadn't paid as close attention in the in the my rear view mirror, the the backup, backup camera, and I had reversed right next to a fire hydrant.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 40:53SPEAKER_00: Man, you talk about how much I hooting and hollered.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: I was like, thank you, Jesus, for showing me that grace.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: It's like even while I was stuck in my feels and how I was going, you just like, yo, fix your focus on on me.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: And so I I really resonated that night.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: I was like, man, I was on Cloud9 for the rest of the night.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: And would you believe it, the next hour or two hours was more profitable than the five hours I had spent previous to that moment where I started to just focus my mind on the Lord.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: So tell me, tell me about this car accident, man.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: What happened?
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: And I mean, like, did it throw you off?
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: How did you get back encouraged?
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that really threw me off because we only had the one car, because my other car, um, I had to get rid of it because the steering gear assembly was gonna cost like five grand.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: And I had like 250,000 miles on this car.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: There was just no way.
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: No way that uh I was gonna pay that much to fix it or to, you know, get it moving.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: I probably could have not worth fixing yeah, it was just it was a lot of money to fix.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: And I was like, well, you know, we'll we'll see what God does.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: And so I only have this one car.
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: I'm living in at home.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: My father-in-law lives with me, so he has a car, and I have this car, and that's what I was using um to DoorDash with was the main car to, you know, to move around.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: And so, and when the accident happened, um, we won't get into the details of it next year, but the the um this wild.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: I really, I really was like, man.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Now all of this is is is is is happened, you know, lost a job, you know, can't find work, door dashing, uh, but God is still blessing.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: I'm able to pay all my bills, and it's like, now what am I gonna do?
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, um God really stepped in a in a mighty way.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, the community came together and provided a blessing.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: Um, God worked it out so that I was able to purchase the car that I'm in right now.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: Uh praise the Lord.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: Um, someone stepped up and said, they were leaving the country, so they gave me their car.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: It had some mechanical problems with it.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: But another person gave me the amount of money I needed in that moment to purchase the car.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Um, and so, you know, I could just see the blessing of God coming together in that moment.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Someone let me use their truck.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: There, I was Door Dashing in a Toyota Highlander.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: Um, not Highlander, Tacoma.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: You know, and so that was just like, wait, what?
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, God totally just flipped that thing around.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: And um what He will do is like He will turn your morning into dancing.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: Yo, it's the spirit of praise for the spirit of heaviness when you set your mind and meditate on what God has done so that the circumstances will come, the circumstances will go.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: But God's love and his his word, the gospel, speaks a better word than the circumstance.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Um amen, brother.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: I I are you going to be door dashing for the rest of your life?
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: Probably not.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: I don't think so.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: I don't have to go.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: But it's kind of like when I worked at the Amazon warehouse, I worked at the Amazon warehouse for half a year.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: And like when they found out I had a college degree, they'd be like, What are you doing here?
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: You have a college degree, and I didn't know how to explain it.
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: Like, well, I was preaching the gospel, lost my job at school, and I was just like, uh, I don't know.
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: In the same way, like, you don't just have a college degree, you have a master's degree, and you're door dashing.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: I don't want to like look down on anybody who door dashes, I think that's a fine thing to do.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: It's just that you're well qualified to be doing something else.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: In doing this, um, what has God taught you in in that?
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: And just like by my education, I'm overqualified to do what I'm doing, and yet, like, this it's honorable to be doing what I'm doing.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like um you know, I can look at several people as examples who who could have made and had profitable things, like I think of Paul, for example.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: He was a tent maker.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: And I believe he was very good at his job, and he could have set up shop and just made tents.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: Um that's the one that really jumped into mind.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: And you know, Jesus was a carpenter.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: He could have set up shop and just and I believe he was a very good carpenter.
- 47:27SPEAKER_00: Because he he had that, you know, it's like go to the ant, so I mean just like whatever your hand and a pause has whatever your hand finds to do, do it with everything you have.
- 47:45SPEAKER_00: Um and so this is the season God has me in.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, I do live streaming.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: I have a YouTube channel, and I talk about some of my struggles with, you know, pornography, and um I don't know if you could say that on here.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: Maybe you could just Yeah, you can say that on here.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: Here's the Death of Life podcast, man.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: You can say whatever you want.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: We've had a few stories of that on here before.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm in a coaching program.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: For it's not that I struggle with pornography in that way anymore.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: It's not um God has given me the victory, and you know, even just hearing the language helps me when I have to talk to other people, be like, hey, this is what is keeping me meditating on the words.
- 48:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:42SPEAKER_00: Um in a recent session that uh in that program talking about distraction, yeah, how to deal with you know setting your intention with how you set your phone on that w look at your life and see where where you are.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: So to come back to the question is like, yes, I have a degree, yes, I have um you know certificates or mastery over live streaming and the various things to do.
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: Um in fact, this past week I just yesterday finished attending a conference for a program called Ecamm.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Ecamm is actually what's providing the video for this.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: I'm using the eCamm virtual cam because I'm using I'm not using the camera from the laptop, right?
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: I'm actually using a different camera.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: And I can send you a picture of the, I don't know if you if the yeah, no, so but I mean, so you know, I could help people, you know, set up their studios so that they look, and even though I'm on near a highway and there are trucks going by, you're not hearing them.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: Right because I'm using a technology that cuts that out and you only hear my voice.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: So it sounds like I'm in a studio.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, the windows are up.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, it does sound good, yeah.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: And in a podcast, audio is the main thing, so I made sure I prioritize that for this call.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: Uh and you probably get a very similar sound even if I was home in my home student.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: So being um able to do the all of these things doesn't negate one or the other.
- 50:52SPEAKER_00: Um, and in fact, there are people who are professionals that door dash on the side because they need to make a little bit of extra money, right?
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: And so um, you know, there is no differentiation Jew, Greek, man, woman, doctor, lawyer, door dasher in the sight of Christ, because we all have that same love, and we're all his sons and daughters.
- 51:23SPEAKER_00: So when whatever God is using in a particular season to provide bread for the family is uh is a powerful thing, and I and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to do it, you know.
- 51:42SPEAKER_01: Uh I want to ask you this question, it's kind of lighthearted, and then we'll we'll kind of wrap it up here.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: But what when you see, I don't know how DoorDash works.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: Like, do you get options?
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: Like, does it give you options like you go here, here, here, or does it just send you go here?
- 51:59SPEAKER_00: It says one at a time.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: What's the last thing that you want to see on there when it pops up, and you're like, well, good mercy, but like you go do it?
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: Like, what's the last thing on earth that you want to see on there?
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: So there are certain restaurants where you know that's going on.
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have to wait because they're notoriously late.
- 52:22SPEAKER_00: And um or or the flip side is when the order is upside down, so they send you, you know, two dollars to go 20 miles.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: You know, you don't want to you don't want to see those.
- 52:44SPEAKER_00: Um but the the beauty of the thing is like you don't have to accept, right?
- 52:53SPEAKER_00: Which in in DoorDash or even Uber Eats, uh Grubhub, uh they all function the same way.
- 53:01SPEAKER_00: They send you the one offer at that time, and you could accept or or deny.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: And um, yeah, but it's you know, there's this.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: But I've accepted those$2 orders before and been totally blown away.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: Where you get to the other side and the person gives you$40 in cash.
- 53:28SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: But you were just picking up like a Twinkie for them and they hook it up.
- 53:35SPEAKER_00: You know, and one lady actually says, Why did you take this order?
- 53:40SPEAKER_00: It's like, I don't know, I got a function for the spirit didn't actually tell me to take it.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: I was just like, you know what?
- 53:49SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna, I'm gonna take this one.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it was a$2 for like five miles or something.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: And she gave me$10.
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: So I was just like, oh.
- 53:59SPEAKER_00: And it was a really, actually, you know, it was a short, shorter distance than five miles.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: I forget exactly which one it was.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: But it was a$2 order.
- 54:07SPEAKER_00: And um normal, you know, most dashers would be like, nah.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: You know, you know, it's like you're not making any money.
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: But it's more about making money, but it's more more about making a connection and uh being able to share.
- 54:26SPEAKER_00: And they express, it's like, hey, I dash too.
- 54:28SPEAKER_00: I know how these orders are, but they gave me a cash tick, and that was you know, even more than what I would have made if I had gone and done another order.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: You know, so what's the best thing that jumps like you see, and you're like, oh, let's go.
- 54:45SPEAKER_01: I will accept it immediately.
- 54:47SPEAKER_01: What's the number one?
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: What's yeah and you gotta spill the tea.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: What restaurant takes the the longest time?
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: You didn't say the restaurant, just you're not gonna get in trouble.
- 54:59SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it it it varies.
- 55:02SPEAKER_00: You just have to know your market, right?
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: And you learn over time, it's like, oh no, the Taco Bell on Park have is a Taco Bell PFC.
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: It's like, yo, late at night.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: They don't know what they're doing over there.
- 55:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you you may walk in and they're ready, or you may walk in and you're there 30 minutes.
- 55:23SPEAKER_00: No, for uh, you know, a four-dollar order.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: So and plus the lettuce is gonna give you crazy diarrhea.
- 55:29SPEAKER_01: So, like, you got that going for you, too, right?
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: Not normal diarrhea, crazy diarrhea with that taco bell on Park and have explosive, yeah.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, but so then um what what yeah, what's the best when you see it on there?
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: You're like, oh, let's go, and you like hightail it over there.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: Well, so here's it it depends.
- 55:54SPEAKER_00: If I'll give you one of the ones that I that I that did was I wasn't expecting it to be as good.
- 56:01SPEAKER_00: It was a$15 for like three miles,$15 plus for like three miles, but it's a large order catering order.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: So I walked in and they had like, I don't know, like six pizzas and a bunch of other food.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: So I said, Oh, it's one of these orders.
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 56:28SPEAKER_00: So I went back outside and I got my catering bags because I also do um catering runs for different companies.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: So there are companies other than DoorDash that would have caterings like at lunchtime, where you know you're taking, you know, 45 lunches for like 60 bucks, 70 bucks, sometimes 150 dollars.
- 56:58SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: Um, but anyways, uh so I just grabbed my bags and I came back inside and she's like, Oh, you really are ready?
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: He's like, Yeah, I'm ready for this.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: I'm true to this, I'm not new to this.
- 57:12SPEAKER_00: Um let's go.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, when I I got the stuff, I took it to the the place.
- 57:23SPEAKER_00: Um, I had to go up the elevator, so I had to use my um cart.
- 57:27SPEAKER_00: I also have a cart that allows me to take more than because these are huge, huge bags that are pretty big.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: I have one it's fine.
- 57:44SPEAKER_00: Anyways, um when I got upstairs and you know, I delivered the food and I set it up, I took the picture and uh left, and then I looked at the thing, it was like$75.
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: I was like, what?
- 58:03SPEAKER_00: That's that was the final tally because it says$15 plus.
- 58:09SPEAKER_00: The plus is uh you know, it's a there's a hidden tip, so it was an extra$60 tip that they had dropped on the order.
- 58:16SPEAKER_00: Uh it was like a function for a party or like a graduation or something like that.
- 58:25SPEAKER_00: And so those are those are pretty.
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: Those are the ones that'll put that'll that'll make your night.
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: That'll they give you a little boost.
- 58:35SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing: because I had a good run, it's the same principle as opposed to be like getting a$2 order for 10 miles.
- 58:48SPEAKER_00: Whatever the circumstance, I am content.
- 58:52SPEAKER_00: Is that Philippians chapter 3 or Philippians 2?
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: I forgot.
- 58:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:56SPEAKER_00: Philippians 3.
- 58:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:58SPEAKER_00: I believe it's Philippians 3.
- 59:00SPEAKER_01: That's right, but before I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, he said he's learned how to be human.
- 59:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so like no matter what state I am, I have found that I am I am content.
- 59:10SPEAKER_00: And Paul was like that.
- 59:11SPEAKER_00: You know, I could sleep on a straw mattress, or you could sleep on a uh blow-up mattress or a pink-size bed in a hotel.
- 59:19SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 59:20SPEAKER_00: It's just like in all the stages in between, from whatever stage you at your circumstance don't dictate where you are.
- 59:31SPEAKER_00: So you could get bit by a snake and just like shake it off into the fire, a venomous snake, and be okay.
- 59:40SPEAKER_00: And then be like, yo, this dude, everyone else is like, what's going on?
- 59:47SPEAKER_00: And he's just like, you know, whatever circumstance I am, I am found to be content.
- 59:52SPEAKER_00: So he could be in a prison after healing a woman, and her owner brought him to the magistrate and get lied on, beat, put in solitary confinement in stocks, him and Silas.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: And then they just singing praises to God.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: And at midnight, Paul and Silas, Acts 16 and 25, sang praises to God, and the prisoners heard that.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: And, you know, there was suddenly there was an earthquake.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: And it's like, yo, we all here, nobody left.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: Because I mean, maybe they like to sing.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_00: They'd be like, yo, this dude can sing.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_00: What?
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_00: Baptize the jailer.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: All because the circumstance did not dictate who he was, and so that's um something now that I'm really starting, and I want to hear God's voice more.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: So there was a challenge put up by the uh by uh Jonathan and the and the rest of the game to really dig into the secret place.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_00: And I would I don't know if you want to plug that here or if you have someone.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, we've been doing it on Tuesday, Tuesday nights where we're we're doing a workshop on hearing God's voice in the secret place, man.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_01: Just like you were talking about, this is it's the name of the game.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_01: Like, we can have the scriptures and all the knowledge, and that'll puff you up.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_01: But when you know him, you become love.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, yeah, man.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_01: Well, David, you're a testimony and a blessing to all of us.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: Um you being able to door dash, like I I see you on the meeting sometimes in the back.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that brother's out there, he's in the street, he's in the street, and um, I just know you're a blessing to all those people, and whether or not you're door dash until Jesus comes, it doesn't matter.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_01: This is the moment, this is the day that the Lord has made DoorDash in today, and you can love and serve people, and then maybe you you get to be the CEO of a company and you can love and serve people either way, God loves you, and uh man, you've just been a blessing to all of us.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: So, thank you so much for just giving us an update and encouraging us uh with truth, man.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_01: I appreciate you.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you too, Richard.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_00: Thank you to the Love Reality and all the saints.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_00: Um, you guys have been a blessing to me.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_00: And um no matter what state I am, you always find a way to encourage me, and that that's a blessing.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: I just want to say thanks to God for you and the work that you're doing here.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_00: It's an absolute must, must say thank you.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_00: Appreciate it.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_01: Praise the Lord.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, love you, my brother.
