- 0:00Speaker 1: Scrubbing In with Beca Tilly and Tanya rad and iHeartRadio
- 0:04Speaker 1: and two times People's Choice Award winning podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hello everybody, Happy Thanksgiving.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Happy Thanksgiving. We're scrubbing in. You've gobbling some turkey down
- 0:22Speaker 3: right now.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We have so much food today, Like it's going to
- 0:27Speaker 2: be in the kitchen.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be gobble gobble, gobbling.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Fucking we have so much food right now.
- 0:35Speaker 2: This very moment, I meant for our Thanksgiving feast?
- 0:40Speaker 4: What God, what are you providing for the people?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Because you're hosting so like you have the table, You've
- 0:46Speaker 3: done all the setup, yes.
- 0:47Speaker 4: But what else?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Let me tell you a little something about the setup.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Tell me about the setup.
- 0:52Speaker 1: We do not have setup for thirty people. No, yeah,
- 0:56Speaker 1: no we don't. So we have to rent every time
- 0:59Speaker 1: we do these types of things. Very normal, I know,
- 1:03Speaker 1: but like not even like the plates or like any
- 1:04Speaker 1: like we don't have any of that stuff.
- 1:06Speaker 2: So we order all that stuff.
- 1:07Speaker 1: But then also thinking about all the drinks that you're
- 1:10Speaker 1: gonna have, like we're gonna have sparkling apple cider for
- 1:12Speaker 1: the kids, and like all the like juices and like
- 1:15Speaker 1: getting all that stuff together. And then like all the
- 1:17Speaker 1: autment for like the pies, making sure we have ice
- 1:20Speaker 1: cream and like what is that?
- 1:24Speaker 2: It's like stuff that goes with things.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 1:27Speaker 5: She is correct?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Like so like we have pumpkin pie, but you can't
- 1:33Speaker 1: have pumpkin pie without vanilla ice cream. Oh, so, like
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like making sure we have
- 1:37Speaker 1: all the little things that we need to go with everything.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And then we did potlock style, so basically everybody's bringing
- 1:45Speaker 1: a dish, and then Robbi and I kind of just
- 1:47Speaker 1: like filled in the holes of what we were missing.
- 1:49Speaker 4: What holes are you all filling?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Mashed potatoes stuffing? What that's a big hole? Stuffing and.
- 2:00Speaker 6: Juice?
- 2:00Speaker 4: No, those are not holes to fill in. Those are
- 2:04Speaker 4: the main courses.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well we just kind of said, like pot luck,
- 2:06Speaker 1: bring whatever you want. So we just let people just
- 2:09Speaker 1: whatever they wanted, their favorites, and then we just kind.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Of yeah, luckily nothing really no repeat, no repeats.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we have like a sweet potato cast role, We've
- 2:18Speaker 1: got turkey, We've got rice, persian rice, veggies, grilled veggies, salad,
- 2:23Speaker 1: mac and cheese, a bloody merry bar pot roast, yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Che che Yeah, I guess we're doing the same thing,
- 2:32Speaker 3: like everyone's kind of bringing different things, and.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Then what are you guys doing? Are you doing the turkey?
- 2:37Speaker 4: I'm doing no.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Well, so Hailey's making a roast, we're doing her sister's
- 2:40Speaker 3: doing a turkey, and then Hailey's doing like a pot roast.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and then I'm doing sweet potato cast roll and
- 2:46Speaker 4: then I provide it.
- 2:47Speaker 3: So I didn't hear you list rolls or bread, y'all
- 2:50Speaker 3: don't do rolls or bread.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Oh my mom is making like a Serbian.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Bread basically, okay, So it's like it's almost like a
- 2:57Speaker 1: little croissant, but it's not even like a cross.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And then there's cheese inside and some of them have
- 3:02Speaker 2: meat inside.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Oh delicious.
- 3:04Speaker 3: So Hailey's family never had bread like rolls or anything,
- 3:07Speaker 3: no bread dish, and that was my favorite part of
- 3:10Speaker 3: the meal growing up because I would dip the.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Roll in the mask.
- 3:16Speaker 3: So one year I was like, do you think it's
- 3:18Speaker 3: okay if I just bring some rolls for the for everyone?
- 3:22Speaker 4: And Haley's like, yeah, of course, And her brother was like, Becca,
- 3:25Speaker 4: this is a great addition.
- 3:27Speaker 3: This really adds And I was like, I'm so happy
- 3:30Speaker 3: to bring this to you. So I provide the rolls
- 3:33Speaker 3: for bread, and then I do slee potato crass roll
- 3:36Speaker 3: and then Haley does is doing roast, and then she
- 3:38Speaker 3: makes a cranberry sauce.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So I should probably get those ingredients today.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes, yes, that's the whole thing, like it's like.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And then we also have like his dad's making grablocks,
- 3:54Speaker 1: like homemade grab blocks.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I don't know what that is.
- 3:56Speaker 2: It's like salmon. It's it's like.
- 4:00Speaker 5: It's actually the official grab box. It's a Nordic dish
- 4:04Speaker 5: consisting of salmon that is cured using imix of salt, sugar,
- 4:06Speaker 5: and dill.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like locks.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Oh okay, it's basically just like locks. Gotcha.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And then we have a charcooterie board and lots of dessert.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So oh, I can actually say it now because it's
- 4:21Speaker 1: not spoiler because we didn't want to spoiler for our guests.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But we took this photo of the first Thanksgiving and
- 4:27Speaker 1: we put all of our family spaces on top of
- 4:30Speaker 1: the people at the in the photo, so we like
- 4:35Speaker 1: photoshopped all of our faces onto it.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Really funny.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Wow, So it's a surprise, and so we put it
- 4:40Speaker 1: on a cake. So everybody will like see their their
- 4:43Speaker 1: faces around like our and we put like the Yadagar's
- 4:47Speaker 1: first Thanksgiving.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So it's like, oh, that's cute.
- 4:49Speaker 4: That's a very couple. Yeah, how exciting.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's cute.
- 4:53Speaker 4: It's really funny. What are y'all doing? Easton?
- 4:55Speaker 5: We go up to uh in northern California, where my
- 4:58Speaker 5: parents are and where we spend things, even with my
- 5:01Speaker 5: mom's side of the family. It's really big. And we
- 5:04Speaker 5: rented out the community center, oh Gustine, California, and we'll
- 5:10Speaker 5: be hanging out there and we don't bring a dang thing.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Sometimes we bring a dessert, Allison and I. But because
- 5:15Speaker 5: we're coming from La we get to be like the
- 5:17Speaker 5: Hollywood people that don't Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: What would you bring, like if something goes on a plane,
- 5:21Speaker 1: like yeah, maybe rolls.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Yeah. But we go up like a few days before
- 5:29Speaker 5: and hang out with my mom and stuff like that.
- 5:31Speaker 2: It's all fun.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You know what this makes me like think of though
- 5:35Speaker 1: back in the day, like my parents just would do Thanksgiving,
- 5:39Speaker 1: like they would just make everything themselves, no pot luck,
- 5:43Speaker 1: Like are we weaker as a generation?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Like I mean, yes, okay.
- 5:49Speaker 3: All around, all right, yes, Well, growing up was so
- 5:53Speaker 3: funny for me because unless we went to our extended
- 5:56Speaker 3: family Thanksgiving, we didn't really like the true Thanksgiving food
- 6:01Speaker 3: like as kids, so my parents would just make what
- 6:03Speaker 3: we liked, like it would be like a meal that
- 6:07Speaker 3: we didn't eat a lot, but something that we loved,
- 6:10Speaker 3: and that would be our Thanksgiving. So as an adult,
- 6:13Speaker 3: I appreciate Thanksgiving food and I go, I go for it,
- 6:17Speaker 3: you know. But as a kid, I didn't want like
- 6:20Speaker 3: dry turkey or.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 6:22Speaker 1: As a kid, there's no better bite than a little
- 6:27Speaker 1: turkey dipped in mashed potatoes dipped in cranberry sauce.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah, those three together is like dynamic.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Man, It's like getting a rice crispy treat on a Tuesday.
- 6:39Speaker 3: But you funny enough, I do have to argue that
- 6:42Speaker 3: in terms of turkey, you have to dip it in
- 6:45Speaker 3: something or have great like.
- 6:46Speaker 2: The moisture oil on top, just.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Drink it and all. Yeah, Sam, what are you all doing?
- 6:57Speaker 7: I'm going to my boyfriend's dad's for Thanksgiving this year?
- 7:01Speaker 4: Is that also in Northern Californa?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yes, we actually will be right around the corner we're.
- 7:05Speaker 4: In moment, head to the community.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Actually I'm gonna invite us right now. I
- 7:19Speaker 2: do love this time of year.
- 7:20Speaker 4: It's great.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah, is the best?
- 7:23Speaker 3: What do you think is the most overrated Thanksgiving food?
- 7:27Speaker 1: So I have an answer to this, but I feel
- 7:28Speaker 1: like you guys are gonna hate it?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Should we wait?
- 7:32Speaker 2: You should break?
- 7:35Speaker 6: I'm so hungry.
- 7:57Speaker 2: We're back.
- 7:59Speaker 1: My least favorite things giving food and something that I
- 8:02Speaker 1: probably will not touch or never put on my plate.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Me too, Me too?
- 8:07Speaker 6: WHOA? Like?
- 8:08Speaker 2: What is it?
- 8:09Speaker 1: Just stuff like mush stuff like mushed bread bread.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I didn't get into it until like the last five
- 8:17Speaker 5: or six years, but I love it now.
- 8:19Speaker 6: What's in it? Though?
- 8:20Speaker 3: It's like like every time I have it, there's new
- 8:24Speaker 3: ingredients and I'm like, I'm people just going mix.
- 8:29Speaker 5: It's like wet bread and onions and celery.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Right, guy? Sounds good to me, but I don't know.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I always put some on my plate and I eat
- 8:39Speaker 3: it to be respectful of whoever brought it. But it's
- 8:42Speaker 3: just not my It's like such a thing that is
- 8:46Speaker 3: hyped up around Thanksgiving that I personally don't feel the
- 8:50Speaker 3: passion for.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And you know what, I've never tried sweet potato casserole. Wow,
- 8:56Speaker 1: never in my life.
- 8:57Speaker 4: That's what I make every year. You would love it.
- 8:59Speaker 2: You're gonna try it.
- 9:00Speaker 1: My sister in law's sister is that's what she's bringing
- 9:03Speaker 1: to our Thanksgiving.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So I'm gonna you love the parents.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Who play from Delilah.
- 9:07Speaker 6: You're gonna love.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I love and marshmallows.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Yeah, you're gonna love it.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I know it's basically a healthy rice Chrispy treat.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I know, I'm like shocked.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I haven't, but it's like, never been at my Thanksgiving table.
- 9:18Speaker 1: It was never an option.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Wow, I'm so happy you're going to try it this year.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I really load on the marshmallows.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Like I think some people are like, oh, it's.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Really good, and they're probably just like so yeah, but
- 9:29Speaker 3: I love it. What is Are you gonna drink? Are
- 9:33Speaker 3: you going to be drinking or drinking?
- 9:36Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna be dry dry. I think we'll see.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Okay, what would you drink if you had to drink?
- 9:42Speaker 1: I like to enjoy wine on Thanksgiving? Nothing like read hard,
- 9:46Speaker 1: probably red a little red with the turkey.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah he's right. Do you all have?
- 9:51Speaker 3: I just you know, nothing's better to me with Thanksgiving food.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Minnesota. The salt washed down.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Not do you know what's so funny?
- 10:07Speaker 6: Though?
- 10:07Speaker 1: When I'm craving like I like on Sunday at Sabrina's concert,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I was craving a ginger ale, Like all I wanted
- 10:13Speaker 1: was a ginger ale, insane And when that craving hits me,
- 10:17Speaker 1: there's nothing that tastes better.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so I understand.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah, well, a ginger ale on a plane with pretzels,
- 10:26Speaker 3: it's delightful.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I drink a lot of ginger ales on planes too, Yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 1: to calm my system.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Why did it ca your system? Yeah?
- 10:34Speaker 2: Because you get NASA on planes? Oh oh yeah yeah yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Sh we talk about what you sent me when you
- 10:39Speaker 3: were arrived at my home for those Sabrina Carpenter concerts.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So I when the weather is rainy and cold, I no,
- 10:48Speaker 1: that's actually false.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I et this all the time.
- 10:51Speaker 4: What's happening.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I had a dinner that just like wasn't sitting in
- 10:56Speaker 1: my stomach right, and like I drove to Becca's house,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and Becka drove to the concert and I had so
- 11:02Speaker 1: such bad gas. I was like, I'm just warning you
- 11:04Speaker 1: right now, like, and I'm sorry because it's raining outside's
- 11:07Speaker 1: there's no.
- 11:08Speaker 4: If I get stuck in this. But I think chamber,
- 11:11Speaker 4: I can't roll the window.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Very toxic to hold them in, Like, I don't think
- 11:15Speaker 1: it's good to hold them in.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So but it was back up.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Was lucky because by the time I got to her house,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I started burping. So I was like, I think it's
- 11:24Speaker 1: coming out the other end.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Now I was not.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I was.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I still had defeed Phoebe and she was sitting in
- 11:29Speaker 3: her car, So I was like, just sit in your
- 11:31Speaker 3: car and do what you need to do and I'll
- 11:34Speaker 3: let you know when I'm coming outside. Don't don't bother
- 11:36Speaker 3: coming into the house. But she goes, I have bad news,
- 11:40Speaker 3: and I was like, oh no. And she goes, I
- 11:42Speaker 3: have gas and I go like farts.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I'm like, no, yeah, I gas in my car.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Well that's a conversation that we have a lot. Yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 4: the gas in the car thing. Yeah, I don't know.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you never know what.
- 11:53Speaker 3: But she she kept it respectful.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I was very respectful. Yeah, thank you.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Oh my other question about Thanksgiving, This was always a
- 12:03Speaker 3: conversation growing up. So when we'd go to extended families,
- 12:07Speaker 3: it felt like I needed to put on a fit,
- 12:10Speaker 3: like I wasn't just going to show up in sweats.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I was like, I'm decking out my unlimited to fits. Yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 3: and now obviously we're hosting this year, so I'll probably
- 12:20Speaker 3: be a little more dressed up, but still want to
- 12:22Speaker 3: be comfortable because we're just at the house.
- 12:24Speaker 4: What is your plan for fits?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Since it's today, I should know.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Right, what are you putting on.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Sweats?
- 12:36Speaker 1: No, we used to do the same because when we
- 12:38Speaker 1: were when I was a kid, our things even was
- 12:39Speaker 1: just like my immediate family, so there was no more
- 12:42Speaker 1: like you know, no more than really like ten of us.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Ever.
- 12:45Speaker 1: But every time we host, we get like a little
- 12:47Speaker 1: we do, like get a little bit more dressed up.
- 12:50Speaker 2: But I think it's gonna be cold this year.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I'll probably wear like pants and a pufferuffer best, No,
- 12:58Speaker 1: like a sweater or like maybe a sweater dress O cute. Yeah,
- 13:03Speaker 1: but yeah, we do like take it up.
- 13:06Speaker 4: But do the guests dress up? Is it expected or
- 13:08Speaker 4: do they just naturally dress up?
- 13:10Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 13:12Speaker 1: My family's a little more low key, so they're but yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 1: everybody kind of shows up looking good.
- 13:17Speaker 4: What about y'all?
- 13:19Speaker 7: I used to do also do the Thanksgiving fit where
- 13:22Speaker 7: it was like you had to wear your best, Like
- 13:23Speaker 7: I don't know, sweater they're like skirts. I feel like
- 13:26Speaker 7: skirts and tights were in the next you know, but
- 13:28Speaker 7: now I feel like I've given up and I don't
- 13:31Speaker 7: care because I also realized that the all lot of
- 13:32Speaker 7: the time we would host things gonna get my house
- 13:34Speaker 7: and it was just family coming over, and I'm like,
- 13:36Speaker 7: why am I.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I it's a lot.
- 13:41Speaker 7: Yeah, so it's reverted to like sweats. Sweat sets, I
- 13:44Speaker 7: feel like are the standard now?
- 13:46Speaker 4: Yeah, what's the dress code at the community.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Center, the Gustine Community Center? Okay, uh, the pride of
- 13:54Speaker 5: the same one, Qing Valley. We do like business casual, like.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Oh wow, that's elevated.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Yeah, so everyone dresses like this sportster like we were
- 14:04Speaker 5: like jeans and a in an Abercrombie sweater.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Yeah we do. We have a lot of jeans.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Yeah, like a button up shirt no tie.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeah that's business casual.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Oh like an untucked short sleeve button up shirt or
- 14:18Speaker 5: along sleeve tucked in to do that. But we're not
- 14:22Speaker 5: wearing like dress shoes like there you know you're gonna
- 14:23Speaker 5: see some some renders, some orthotics, some new balance.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Definitely wearing your athotics.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Wow.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Well, it sounds like everyone's in for a wonderful Thanksgiving.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Damn, you know.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And I have to say, if you're out there and
- 14:40Speaker 3: you're like, I don't have family near, or I'm not
- 14:43Speaker 3: in a good place with family, or you feel alone.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I had Thanksgiving one year by myself. I made my
- 14:48Speaker 3: favorite meal for myself, I watched TV all day by myself,
- 14:52Speaker 3: and I had a wonderful day. I had some sadness
- 14:55Speaker 3: in the moment of thinking I'm supposed to be with
- 14:58Speaker 3: people in celebrating, but I was content and I realized
- 15:02Speaker 3: I was able to do things that I loved and
- 15:06Speaker 3: was like, hopefully next year I have a different experience.
- 15:09Speaker 4: But I'm just want to let you know if you're alone,
- 15:12Speaker 4: you're not alone.
- 15:13Speaker 3: And just because things look different than how maybe they've
- 15:17Speaker 3: looked in the past, or how it's supposed to look
- 15:19Speaker 3: on social media, and what you see like, you are alive,
- 15:24Speaker 3: You're loved, and I hope you at least get to
- 15:27Speaker 3: have one of your favorite meals.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah and well said Becca.
- 15:32Speaker 3: With that, that is the end of our Thanksgiving special.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all of you. We
- 15:40Speaker 2: love you so so much.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Could not be more thankful grateful, appreciative. We love you,
- 15:45Speaker 1: love you, love you, and hope you get to spend
- 15:48Speaker 1: some quality time with your family, relaxing, do whatever you
- 15:52Speaker 1: want to do this weekend.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope you have lots of laying, a lot
- 15:55Speaker 2: of lay time.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, take care of your hips and back and
- 15:58Speaker 3: we love you so much.
- 16:00Speaker 6: Nae mhm
