- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay and with me like
- 0:27Speaker 2: every single week. Of course, is Katie, Katie, how you
- 0:32Speaker 2: doing today?
- 0:33Speaker 3: You know, I got botox, I got an R block,
- 0:36Speaker 3: I have whiskey.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's all good, better than last time, right, Yes, okay,
- 0:44Speaker 2: that's the most important thing.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Still get a little bit of a migraine, but hopefully
- 0:49Speaker 3: we'll wake up tomorrow all better.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So now, guys, we have a lot to talk about today,
- 0:56Speaker 2: but most importantly, our main topic is, of course, Revenge
- 0:59Speaker 2: of the the novelization. Now, I have been teasing that
- 1:04Speaker 2: I have had a hot take on the novelization. I
- 1:08Speaker 2: want to go ahead and state it now. I'm not
- 1:12Speaker 2: going to completely roll back on it, but I think
- 1:15Speaker 2: it's important to have a separate conversation kind of in
- 1:19Speaker 2: this episode as well. I'm gonna ask this question again
- 1:23Speaker 2: when we actually talk about it. But I want you
- 1:25Speaker 2: to simmer on this question while we go over these
- 1:28Speaker 2: news topics. Okay, Katie, Okay, I need your opinion on
- 1:34Speaker 2: what you believe a novelization should be. Okay, I need
- 1:42Speaker 2: that clarification because I might have the wrong idea of
- 1:47Speaker 2: what a novelization should be. So that's probably why my
- 1:51Speaker 2: hot take is so hot as it is. But we
- 1:55Speaker 2: will get there eventually. First we're gonna, of course, we're
- 1:59Speaker 2: gonna be talking about some casting news, new rumors towards
- 2:03Speaker 2: that casting. Of course, we're gonna be talking about Vision's
- 2:08Speaker 2: season three trailer as well as what was our last topic.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I knew there was one more. It was the yes, yes,
- 2:23Speaker 2: we're gonna show it now, Yes, yes we do. Guys
- 2:27Speaker 2: have in fact in front of us the deluxe edition
- 2:32Speaker 2: of Revenge of the Sith novelization.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Now it comes with this nice handy dandy slip with
- 2:39Speaker 3: all your information on it, so you can just take
- 2:41Speaker 3: this off trash it, which is what I'm going to do.
- 2:46Speaker 3: It's so now. The dust jacket is just it's beautiful.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I absolutely love this. Out of all the gifts that
- 2:57Speaker 2: we have received from Star Wars and even the uh
- 3:02Speaker 2: special editions that we've gone out of our own way
- 3:05Speaker 2: to purchase, I think this one actually takes the cake.
- 3:10Speaker 3: It really does, because the dust jacket is just perfect.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It has the lovely intro crawl thing that Matthew Stover did.
- 3:20Speaker 3: But then you take the dust jacket off, and then
- 3:23Speaker 3: you get to see the the hard what is it
- 3:27Speaker 3: called the hard jacket?
- 3:28Speaker 2: I don't know the hard The hardcover itself is, of course,
- 3:33Speaker 2: just Moustafar with Anakin and Obi Wan. It is a
- 3:38Speaker 2: wrap around, so it continues the actual photo of the
- 3:42Speaker 2: whole thing. But one thing some I saw this on
- 3:46Speaker 2: TikTok and I didn't even I haven't opened this yet.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I've actually I've had it a little bit of behind
- 3:53Speaker 2: the scenes here. I've had it for a little bit
- 3:55Speaker 2: longer than Katie has, just because of our locations and
- 3:59Speaker 2: how they mailed it. So inside the very first page
- 4:04Speaker 2: is a concept art of Anakin Skywalker and padame absolutely gorgeous.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But the next page, or the the inside, which I
- 4:15Speaker 2: think is actually really cool. Yes, I love the title
- 4:21Speaker 2: card Star Wars and it's Padme and Anakin on the inside.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I think this is gorgeous. I love this so cool.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And obviously, guys, all the deluxe editions nowadays are coming
- 4:37Speaker 3: with sprayed edges. This has gorgeous red edges with this
- 4:42Speaker 3: is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker forever on it.
- 4:46Speaker 3: My aunt was so jealous of me getting this book,
- 4:49Speaker 3: by the way, because she has made an effort to
- 4:50Speaker 3: like have a shelf of red books and she loves
- 4:53Speaker 3: the way this looks.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And then there is yeah, I was gonna say, there
- 4:57Speaker 2: is the concept art in the back to complete story is,
- 5:01Speaker 2: of course the birth of Darth Vader as we know
- 5:05Speaker 2: and love him. Of course.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yes, and guys, the book does come with a bookmark,
- 5:10Speaker 3: which I will be using as we go through this.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I have not opened it other than the artwork sections
- 5:18Speaker 3: because I wanted to come into this novelization review clean
- 5:22Speaker 3: and not have any of the annotations in my.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Head same and that's exactly why I haven't opened it
- 5:27Speaker 2: as well. Full disclosure on the review that we are
- 5:35Speaker 2: going to do. I actually listened to the audiobook for this.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I have now listened to it twice because I wanted
- 5:44Speaker 2: to know if my hot take was just something that
- 5:46Speaker 2: I was kind of just like me about. So I
- 5:50Speaker 2: listened to it all over again in the last two days,
- 5:54Speaker 2: which is a very doable thing at two at two
- 5:58Speaker 2: time speed. By the way, it's.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Twenty one chapters, three parts, so very easy to break
- 6:05Speaker 3: it down and get it listened to. I did it
- 6:09Speaker 3: twice as well, but I've read this like myself previously.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So yeah, I will be listening to it, probably at
- 6:20Speaker 2: a normal speed now while looking over the annotations. When
- 6:27Speaker 2: that's a good idea.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, but like pir pair
- 6:31Speaker 3: reading it basically.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think that would be fun. Also, I
- 6:37Speaker 2: think I don't think they would do it, but I
- 6:39Speaker 2: would pay money for like a director's cut audiobook with
- 6:44Speaker 2: the annotations literally be the only thing that is the
- 6:50Speaker 2: audio portion of this.
- 6:52Speaker 3: So they did that for the Air of the Empire
- 6:56Speaker 3: twenty an really with Timothy's on and Elizabeth the editor.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Oh so it's it could be a possibility, it could
- 7:10Speaker 2: you know what, Now that you said it, I'm probably
- 7:12Speaker 2: gonna message Tom today. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna
- 7:15Speaker 2: message Tom and say, hey, I know you can't actually
- 7:18Speaker 2: tell me, but you know, blink twice tell me if if,
- 7:23Speaker 2: if this is a possibility. All right.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I was gonna try and pull it up because I
- 7:29Speaker 3: thought I had it on my audible, but my Audible
- 7:33Speaker 3: has apparently kicked me out of my account on my laptop,
- 7:35Speaker 3: so I have to figure that out.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Oh no, okay, So with that being said, really cool
- 7:42Speaker 2: that we got that. I want to thank Random House
- 7:44Speaker 2: Worlds Yes for giving us the opportunity to get this
- 7:49Speaker 2: early edition. I have been seeing on Twitter as long
- 7:55Speaker 2: as well as Sorry, as well as TikTok. There's a
- 7:58Speaker 2: lot of people who are also getting this at the
- 8:01Speaker 2: exact same time, and I really do hope that more
- 8:06Speaker 2: people jump in on this because it is a gorgeous edition.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I think this is a really cool thing for them
- 8:12Speaker 2: to do, and I cannot wait to read those annotations.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yep, and guys, we will be talking about the annotations
- 8:19Speaker 3: in two weeks, which is after this book releases. This
- 8:24Speaker 3: book releases on the fourteenth of October, so we will
- 8:28Speaker 3: be talking about it live on the fifteenth on podcast
- 8:31Speaker 3: feeds on the sixteenth, So we're not gonna go annotation
- 8:37Speaker 3: by annotation, but we're going to talk highlights some things
- 8:40Speaker 3: that we found interesting and just kind of dig into
- 8:44Speaker 3: it there. So you can't expect to get that review
- 8:48Speaker 3: as well from us, guys.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Oh and I just remembered what the last bit of
- 8:55Speaker 2: news was, the James Mangolden news.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Oh, yes, that rumor.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Well, yes, yes, it is not a rumor. It is
- 9:05Speaker 2: not a rumor. It is for sure happening there is
- 9:07Speaker 2: a deadline article over this. Let's go ahead and jump
- 9:10Speaker 2: into that now, because it is small and the discussion
- 9:13Speaker 2: I think is a little bit smaller. But it says
- 9:16Speaker 2: here that Paramount signs a filmmaker James Mangual to overall deal.
- 9:30Speaker 2: A lot of people, of course immediately jumping to what's
- 9:35Speaker 2: gonna happen to Star Wars and Swamp Thing, and of
- 9:40Speaker 2: course both of those outlets have said, oh, it's still happening.
- 9:45Speaker 2: It's still happening. But Katie, it something seems very familiar
- 9:51Speaker 2: about this, don't you think?
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yeah, because we've talked about it, and we talked about
- 9:57Speaker 3: how James Mangold was probably the most to happen because
- 10:01Speaker 3: after his movie with Timothy Shallame whatever that musical adaptation
- 10:07Speaker 3: was this past year, he didn't have anything else on
- 10:10Speaker 3: his plate, so we were like, okay, fully capable of
- 10:16Speaker 3: jumping straight into Star Wars from here. Of course we
- 10:21Speaker 3: have seen no progress, but also maybe Lucasfilm doesn't want
- 10:28Speaker 3: to have more than one movie in production at a time,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and with Starfighter shooting ahead, maybe they're like, okay, like
- 10:37Speaker 3: James Mangold's will be next kind of thing. I don't know,
- 10:42Speaker 3: I would like to have faith because I believe man
- 10:44Speaker 3: Gold is an incredible director. Yes, and I would love
- 10:48Speaker 3: to see him come to Star Wars. I feel like
- 10:51Speaker 3: he would not have accepted the movie role if he
- 10:55Speaker 3: didn't have a good experience with lucasfilm on in Piano Jones,
- 10:58Speaker 3: if he hadn't had a good aperians with Indiana's Peo
- 11:01Speaker 3: would have come back. So I think he has a
- 11:03Speaker 3: reason to be here. I just I don't know now.
- 11:09Speaker 3: But we have also seen with like what's his name
- 11:13Speaker 3: the director for Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker, where
- 11:16Speaker 3: he's signed a picture like a he's he has signed
- 11:23Speaker 3: a similar deal with Warner Brothers and has not produced
- 11:26Speaker 3: anything for Warner Brothers. Yeah, yeah, JJ abrams. So I
- 11:32Speaker 3: fully feel like this kind of thing happens all the time,
- 11:35Speaker 3: where these deals are for original pictures and not IP
- 11:41Speaker 3: based pictures or brand new ips. So I have, I
- 11:48Speaker 3: have hope, but I have I have realistic expectations. Now.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Yeah, same for me. I I really want it to happen,
- 12:02Speaker 2: but I will not be surprised if I would say
- 12:07Speaker 2: anywhere between now and Christmas we get some sort of
- 12:12Speaker 2: officially non official statement saying that he is no longer
- 12:17Speaker 2: going to be making a Star Wars film.
- 12:21Speaker 3: See, but we never got an official notice on Patty
- 12:23Speaker 3: Jenkins Rogue Squadron.
- 12:25Speaker 2: It was.
- 12:27Speaker 3: So I don't think we're going to have that notification.
- 12:30Speaker 3: We're just gonna be like, yeah, this is still in
- 12:32Speaker 3: the works, like Ryan Johnson's movie.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right, so.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean again, if it wasn't Star Wars, we
- 12:42Speaker 3: wouldn't be getting talked up about this because only ips
- 12:47Speaker 3: really go, yeah, we have these movies in production. If
- 12:51Speaker 3: you have an original motion picture, they're not going to
- 12:54Speaker 3: tell you that the original motion picture is in development
- 12:57Speaker 3: until it's ready to shoot.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Basically, yeah, very very true, very true. But staying in
- 13:06Speaker 2: the realm of movies, I think our next bit of news,
- 13:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and give you a round of applause. Katie,
- 13:17Speaker 2: you guessed it correctly so far. Of course this is
- 13:22Speaker 2: a rumor. But looking at the casting for Starfighter, we
- 13:29Speaker 2: were so confused as of why Amy Adams would jump
- 13:32Speaker 2: onto this type of movie. And of course Katie was like, oh,
- 13:35Speaker 2: she's probably the mother to our main character. And according
- 13:41Speaker 2: to I believe it was RpK. Amy Adams is playing
- 13:47Speaker 2: the mother of our main character.
- 13:51Speaker 3: And a lot of people have jumped on an obvious
- 13:56Speaker 3: rumor with the act with Amy Adams being red Hair,
- 14:01Speaker 3: that she's playing mar j Now, if you guys know me,
- 14:06Speaker 3: I have Mary Jane's lightsaber in the backdrop of my
- 14:12Speaker 3: I'm still working on it, but anyways, I'm a big
- 14:17Speaker 3: mar Jade person. Realistically, could this happen? Yes, to Travis
- 14:26Speaker 3: Snell's point, Mark Hamill is technically seventy years old when
- 14:32Speaker 3: he shot the Last Jedi the sequel trilogy, he's seventy
- 14:37Speaker 3: years old. Give her tank Amy Adams fifty one. So
- 14:46Speaker 3: is it wise to producers to go, yeah, we're going
- 14:50Speaker 3: to make this Luke Skywalker's child. I don't think it's
- 14:54Speaker 3: Luke Skywalker's child, But going ahead and talking about that
- 14:57Speaker 3: before we get into the other part of this, I
- 14:59Speaker 3: don't If it were to be Luke Skywalker's child, it
- 15:03Speaker 3: still does make sense because Luke is technically like fifty.
- 15:11Speaker 3: At the point of the sequel trilogy, we have seen
- 15:17Speaker 3: that the characters in Star Wars basically just age really badly.
- 15:25Speaker 3: That's all there is to it. Basically is we're faking
- 15:30Speaker 3: their age at this point to where oh, yes, they're
- 15:34Speaker 3: technically fifty canonically, but realistically they're more like seventy. So
- 15:41Speaker 3: would it look good in that regard to do it? No,
- 15:44Speaker 3: but it still does make sense where if this was
- 15:47Speaker 3: Luke Skywalker's child, it does make sense. And I looked
- 15:52Speaker 3: this up, but I'm gonna have to look it up again.
- 15:54Speaker 3: So the Rise of Kylo Rim, which is the mini
- 15:59Speaker 3: series by Charles Soul.
- 16:03Speaker 2: That we're actually going to be reviewing next week.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Guys, are we reding that? I thought we were reviewing
- 16:11Speaker 3: the Legends of Darth Vader or The Legend of Darth Vader.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Oh you know what got those two mixed up? Sorry
- 16:18Speaker 2: you're right, Nope, sorry character And we had planned for.
- 16:23Speaker 3: It Kylo Ren and didn't have time. Yeah, So, guys,
- 16:28Speaker 3: the Rise of Kylo Wrinn takes place in twenty eight
- 16:32Speaker 3: a b y. The Force Awakens and the Force Awakens
- 16:42Speaker 3: and the Last Jedi take place in thirty four ab Y.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And I'm doing math here, guys, so I hope you
- 16:49Speaker 3: follow me kind of thing. So that six years after
- 16:53Speaker 3: the Rise of Kylo Wrinn Rise of Kylo Wrinn, he
- 16:56Speaker 3: fell to the dark side, started working with Snoke and
- 16:59Speaker 3: all those things. So Kyle Rin had been with six years,
- 17:02Speaker 3: so Luke had only been in exile for at max
- 17:09Speaker 3: six years at that point. I know it doesn't seem
- 17:14Speaker 3: like that based on the movie, but Weirdley Wobbly, Timmy,
- 17:17Speaker 3: Whymy and all like, the timeline does matter, yeah, to
- 17:23Speaker 3: some extent. So the Rise of Skywalker is a year
- 17:26Speaker 3: after the Last Jedi, so that would be thirty five
- 17:29Speaker 3: aby Starfighter is five years later. Yes, So in the
- 17:38Speaker 3: Legends of Luke Skywalker. And I'm pulling out more hidden
- 17:41Speaker 3: things here that's probably not going to get followed anyways,
- 17:44Speaker 3: but the Legends of Luke Skywalker, some of those stories
- 17:49Speaker 3: could take place while he's traveling to go to exile,
- 17:53Speaker 3: because if you think about it, so sixteen years no, wait, no,
- 17:58Speaker 3: so eleven years before Starfighter is when the Rise of
- 18:03Speaker 3: Kyla Ren happened.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Okay, so hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
- 18:09Speaker 2: hold on. You said the Legends of Luke Skywalker. This
- 18:12Speaker 2: is the first that I'm hearing about this, So I
- 18:14Speaker 2: just typed it in. There's a journey to Star Wars,
- 18:17Speaker 2: the Last Jedi, the Legends of Luke Skywalker, is that
- 18:19Speaker 2: what you're talking about?
- 18:20Speaker 3: Yep?
- 18:21Speaker 2: Okay, just wanted to make sure continue.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Nobody really knows when those stories take place, so they
- 18:36Speaker 3: could take place before he does his Jedi temple, but
- 18:40Speaker 3: they also could take place when he goes to Excel.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Because nobody actually knows if those are Luke Skywalker, it's
- 18:46Speaker 3: assumed it's not known, but irregardless of that fact, Rise
- 18:52Speaker 3: of Kylo Wrinn takes place eleven years or twelve years
- 18:57Speaker 3: technically because it's twenty eight eighty y. Starfighter takes forty
- 19:01Speaker 3: a by m hm. The main character, kid played by
- 19:06Speaker 3: Flynn Gray I think is the actor's name, is going
- 19:10Speaker 3: to be fourteen years old. That still leaves two years
- 19:15Speaker 3: for Luke to not be in exile, for him to
- 19:18Speaker 3: have one night stand fling or something.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And I said it on the group chat, just because
- 19:25Speaker 2: you're in exile does not mean you can't call for
- 19:27Speaker 2: a booty call. Okay, leave, Hey, I'm not gonna yuck
- 19:33Speaker 2: anybody else's young. Luke Skywalker was lonely, you know.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Who knows, And especially if Amy Adams character is actually
- 19:44Speaker 3: a Jedi, what if she came and was like, I'm
- 19:47Speaker 3: gonna help teach at the Jedi Academy and then ran
- 19:49Speaker 3: off got pregnant.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Boom that totally happens.
- 19:54Speaker 3: We saw it in and Or season two.
- 19:57Speaker 2: That see that would make even more since because it
- 20:02Speaker 2: would follow a quote unquote downward spiral that Luke believes
- 20:08Speaker 2: he is on and so would push him to exile
- 20:12Speaker 2: even more. This makes total sense, Boom.
- 20:16Speaker 3: That is why the timeline is so important. Guys, Now again,
- 20:19Speaker 3: do I believe I do believe that there are certain
- 20:24Speaker 3: events that people want to keep in the timeline and
- 20:28Speaker 3: want to make the timeline flow from that. What is
- 20:32Speaker 3: my argument point here about the rise of Kylo Rind
- 20:35Speaker 3: being important to this part of the story is that
- 20:38Speaker 3: Charles soul is now a consulting member of the story
- 20:42Speaker 3: group for TV and film. He's been to the Acolyte premiere,
- 20:48Speaker 3: he went to the I believe he went to the
- 20:49Speaker 3: and Er premiere. I don't know that one hundred percent sure,
- 20:52Speaker 3: but he's consulting on these things. I feel like that
- 20:56Speaker 3: move says, Hey, you have written one of the most
- 20:59Speaker 3: important characters in the sequel trilogy. Let's consult the guy
- 21:04Speaker 3: who knows the inner workings if you want to make
- 21:08Speaker 3: this happen. So I feel like that's legit. Do I
- 21:13Speaker 3: think that Amy Adams is Marja? I mean, the resemblance
- 21:18Speaker 3: there is pretty canny.
- 21:19Speaker 2: If we don't know, I don't know, you see this,
- 21:23Speaker 2: This is wild?
- 21:25Speaker 3: This is this is.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Somebody that I randomly saw on Twitter saying that it
- 21:29Speaker 2: would have been so much cooler if Amy Adams was
- 21:32Speaker 2: able to play Marrow Jade back in the early two thousands.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And this photo was actually this photo right here was
- 21:41Speaker 2: actually cut off like right at the chin, so I
- 21:44Speaker 2: couldn't see her face. And then when I clicked out it,
- 21:47Speaker 2: I was like, oh wow, like this is actually really
- 21:51Speaker 2: freaking close.
- 21:53Speaker 3: So we're about to get into that if I'm being honest.
- 21:56Speaker 3: The picture of her holding bin, yes, not about to.
- 22:02Speaker 3: I think that's like four stories actually that the line.
- 22:04Speaker 3: But yeah, anyways, I do think the resemblances on canny.
- 22:11Speaker 3: But I think mar Jade is still such a character
- 22:16Speaker 3: that Lucasfilm may not want to bring her in. But
- 22:19Speaker 3: if you thought that that was the case, I bring
- 22:23Speaker 3: you exhibit A. Why did you put her character into
- 22:26Speaker 3: the Disney Parks Lightsaber collection?
- 22:29Speaker 2: Exactly? No, that is something that is absolutely true. Disney
- 22:36Speaker 2: and Lucasfilm are both very particular about how they present
- 22:42Speaker 2: their products, especially like look at Star Wars, Star Wars
- 22:48Speaker 2: is so reactionary on what they actually put out there, right,
- 22:54Speaker 2: so for them to put out there now, I want
- 22:58Speaker 2: to also rain in both me and Katie on this
- 23:03Speaker 2: and have realistic expectations. There is more of a like
- 23:11Speaker 2: ninety five five over under on her not being Marja,
- 23:19Speaker 2: Like this is totally something that is probably one d
- 23:22Speaker 2: true of her not being Marja. You don't have let's
- 23:26Speaker 2: be real, let's just like but but the surprise would
- 23:32Speaker 2: it be absolutely wild? And I think I would actually
- 23:36Speaker 2: be genuinely like surprised if while I'm watching this movie
- 23:43Speaker 2: with a theater full of strangers and she presents her
- 23:49Speaker 2: name as Mara and I'm not freak out, Like I like,
- 23:57Speaker 2: I actually want to see this movie with Katie, like
- 24:00Speaker 2: just said case there's a possibility of her being Mara Jade,
- 24:06Speaker 2: just to see the freak out I.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Would one I would. Matt has had to be like
- 24:14Speaker 3: shut up previously because I'm like a talker. I am
- 24:17Speaker 3: a reactionary talker. That's why podcasting has been so good
- 24:20Speaker 3: for me, is because I just talk, and so I'm like,
- 24:25Speaker 3: like in Mission Impossible, I think this was seven because
- 24:28Speaker 3: we watched eight separately, but it was like, holy shit,
- 24:31Speaker 3: that just happened. That just happened.
- 24:32Speaker 2: He was like stret up, like stop talking.
- 24:36Speaker 3: So you you announce her as Mara Jade. I mean,
- 24:39Speaker 3: imagine how much I lost my shit with Mara being
- 24:43Speaker 3: mentioned in Pieces of the.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Past exactly exactly like so, So I overall I think
- 24:51Speaker 4: that this is fun for the fandom to brainstorm on
- 24:57Speaker 4: how this could be a possibility.
- 25:00Speaker 2: So I think this is all good. Now there are
- 25:04Speaker 2: several articles out there that are saying like, oh, this
- 25:07Speaker 2: would be cool, but let's be realistic, and then like saying,
- 25:10Speaker 2: is it really possible for her to be mar Jade?
- 25:13Speaker 2: And then like throwing some backs down about the timeline.
- 25:16Speaker 2: So there's arguments for it and there's arguments against it.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I think that the conversation overall should peak Disney and lucasfilms,
- 25:29Speaker 2: like idea of what we the fans want in Star Wars.
- 25:33Speaker 2: By the way, I.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Mean, Sean Levy is a fan, so he could and
- 25:39Speaker 3: he is more involved on social media. We talked about
- 25:41Speaker 3: this when he dropped the preview image with Ryan Gosling
- 25:44Speaker 3: and Flick Ray like he's more involved on social media.
- 25:48Speaker 3: He's not James Gunn, but in Star wars in social media,
- 25:56Speaker 3: so he could potentially be listening, but he could also
- 25:59Speaker 3: be like, hey, I'm not listening because my script is
- 26:02Speaker 3: already done, but he could have listened previously.
- 26:05Speaker 2: So yeah. Yeah. Also, I just want to go ahead
- 26:10Speaker 2: and and and lay this here so that way in
- 26:14Speaker 2: the future, maybe not twenty twenty five, because by the way, guys,
- 26:18Speaker 2: we do have the rest of twenty twenty five planned out,
- 26:21Speaker 2: but maybe in twenty twenty six. I would like to
- 26:26Speaker 2: have a conversation with you here on the podcast on
- 26:31Speaker 2: the possibility of treating legends like DC treats else world stories.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I want to have that conversation eventually. But is there
- 26:45Speaker 2: anything else that you want to add with this Amy
- 26:47Speaker 2: Adams mar Jade casting rumor possibility.
- 26:54Speaker 3: I don't think so. My I guess my last thing
- 26:57Speaker 3: would be I hope that if she is a former
- 27:01Speaker 3: Jedi Haaduan Youngling, that I would hope that we would
- 27:05Speaker 3: see a not correspond Order sixty six, if we are
- 27:08Speaker 3: going to see Order sixty six at all.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And that was another thing about this conversation, because I
- 27:17Speaker 2: think it was Travis that brought up like, oh, well,
- 27:22Speaker 2: if she's a Jedi, that actually makes no sense whatsoever,
- 27:25Speaker 2: how is that possible? And I said, oh, she would
- 27:28Speaker 2: just join the club, and I just set a whole
- 27:30Speaker 2: bunch of pictures of every Order sixty six survivor and
- 27:34Speaker 2: he just responded hilariously. And we need to again remind
- 27:41Speaker 2: people this was a galaxy of trillions of individuals and planets.
- 27:50Speaker 2: The Order was thousands of people, if not millions. We
- 27:59Speaker 2: only saw a fraction of that on screen and read
- 28:03Speaker 2: that in books. Yep. So just throwing that out there
- 28:08Speaker 2: to remind you survivors could be actually, you know, in
- 28:16Speaker 2: a good chunk. So I think it's very much a
- 28:21Speaker 2: possibility that she is an Order sixty six survivor.
- 28:24Speaker 3: It really doesn't make a difference to me. I just
- 28:27Speaker 3: feel like Cora Santi Order sixty six has been showcased
- 28:31Speaker 3: so much. I would like to see another canon.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I think that would be pretty cool if like we
- 28:37Speaker 2: saw her with like a squad of clones and then
- 28:44Speaker 2: just completely on some random planet and then she escaped them.
- 28:47Speaker 2: I think that would be absolutely really cool. But also
- 28:52Speaker 2: it is not out of the possibility of ranges that
- 28:56Speaker 2: she could be a force user that taught herself and
- 29:03Speaker 2: was able to construct a lightsaber maybe in order to
- 29:09Speaker 2: tie itself somewhat to the timeline, you can say, Hey,
- 29:16Speaker 2: I was being taught by Luke Skywalker for some time,
- 29:19Speaker 2: but he didn't see that I was a fit student,
- 29:22Speaker 2: so I walked away. Boom yep, throw away line. And
- 29:26Speaker 2: then because.
- 29:28Speaker 3: What Luke is doing in the Rise of Kyle Reene,
- 29:31Speaker 3: he calls it the Jedi Order, the re establishment of
- 29:33Speaker 3: the Jedi Order. So former Jedi still works in that
- 29:37Speaker 3: case as well.
- 29:38Speaker 2: You're right, yeah, so yeah, so we will see we
- 29:44Speaker 2: still have what when is uh, there's no have they
- 29:49Speaker 2: put a year on this yet?
- 29:52Speaker 3: I believe it's May seven?
- 29:54Speaker 2: Man, Sorry, guys, I hit my max.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Uh, so we would see a lot of publicity at
- 30:03Speaker 3: Star Wars celebration.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Yep, very true. All right, Well that leaves us, of course,
- 30:12Speaker 2: with our last news topic, which is, of course, Star
- 30:16Speaker 2: Wars Vision's Volume three trailer release. This released five days
- 30:25Speaker 2: ago on what is five days?
- 30:29Speaker 3: It was last Thursday.
- 30:41Speaker 2: It might have been Thursday. Actually, all I remember is
- 30:45Speaker 2: it was really late at night. It may have been
- 30:49Speaker 2: actually like pretty close to midnight. For some reason, I
- 30:53Speaker 2: don't know where it was debuting.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I feel like, because this is Japanese visions like they may.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Have oh on their time zone.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Okay, that makes sense because I feel like you sent
- 31:08Speaker 3: us in the chat at like eight fifty five, so
- 31:13Speaker 3: that you're shooting like right nine am Japanese time.
- 31:17Speaker 2: I feel like, so, yeah, I think somewhere around there.
- 31:22Speaker 2: But yeah, this trailer, guys, it is absolutely gorgeous. It
- 31:28Speaker 2: gives a highlight of I think at least every episode.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I feel like the duel is the biggest focus.
- 31:40Speaker 2: I think it is as well. I think you see
- 31:42Speaker 2: at least two or three, if not four clips from that.
- 31:49Speaker 2: But it looks awesome. We see a Wookie in there.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Of course, we do get the highlights from all of
- 31:57Speaker 2: the quote unquote sequel stories ninth Jedi. We see also
- 32:04Speaker 2: the Village Bride continuation as well. There is one animation
- 32:11Speaker 2: that I cannot just like stop googly lying all over.
- 32:17Speaker 2: It is wow. I think there's actually five different clips
- 32:20Speaker 2: from the duel. Actually, there is one clip or one
- 32:29Speaker 2: story with this girl who has a green lightsaber. Yeah,
- 32:37Speaker 2: and it just looks absolutely awesome. It's very three D.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It is actually the thumbnail of the actual video with
- 32:49Speaker 2: the individual with two lightsabers, two red lightsabers, and hers
- 32:55Speaker 2: is green, beautiful colors, the reds, the orange like the peaches,
- 33:03Speaker 2: like the peach color in the sky. But the three
- 33:06Speaker 2: D animation or CGI animation looks absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait
- 33:13Speaker 2: to watch that one. Yeah, but this looks great.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I there's not Yeah, the visuals in these different animations.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I feel like this trailer was really well put together,
- 33:25Speaker 3: just to kind of get your vibes going for the
- 33:29Speaker 3: trailer basically. Otherwise, I don't really have a whole lot
- 33:34Speaker 3: to say about the trailer in particular because obviously we're
- 33:36Speaker 3: not getting like story types and everything. I think that
- 33:40Speaker 3: does come in the cast announcement that's on Star Wars
- 33:43Speaker 3: dot com, because we have titles, we have synopsises, directors,
- 33:48Speaker 3: and cast members all on Star Wars dot com.
- 33:52Speaker 2: That is true. I totally forgot to bring that up
- 33:54Speaker 2: because one thing that I did not actually look into, UH,
- 34:00Speaker 2: but I did see from somebody in or on Twitter,
- 34:08Speaker 2: Jody Turner Smith of course from the Acolyte UH is
- 34:13Speaker 2: playing a role in this volume of visions.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Yeah. She is in with Studios the Bounty Hunters, and
- 34:24Speaker 3: the synopsis for that is a brogue downy hunter takes
- 34:26Speaker 3: on a job for a shady industrialist that has unexpected
- 34:30Speaker 3: consequences for her and her royd h So that's the
- 34:35Speaker 3: one Jody Turner Smith is in. So in order we
- 34:43Speaker 3: have comicast Duga plus anima with the Dual Payback UH
- 34:49Speaker 3: and it says, with the help of some unexpected allies
- 34:52Speaker 3: grown in faces off against his greatest foe, a twisted
- 34:55Speaker 3: Jedi known as the Grand Master, who has been on revenge.
- 35:03Speaker 3: I don't recognize anybody in the cast. We're not gonna
- 35:07Speaker 3: go to in depth with the cast, guys, because there's
- 35:10Speaker 3: a lot but star Wars dot com. This is one
- 35:13Speaker 3: of the main featured UH links and I'm sure Clay
- 35:16Speaker 3: will link it down in the description box below for
- 35:18Speaker 3: you guys to go click through and see project Studio
- 35:23Speaker 3: Q has the Song of Four Wings and it says
- 35:27Speaker 3: a princess turned rebel protects a child from the might
- 35:30Speaker 3: of the Empire on a snowbound planet. And the person
- 35:33Speaker 3: of note I feel like in this is Stephanie Schu
- 35:37Speaker 3: who was in Oh Gosh, Everything Everywhere all at once.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:48Speaker 3: The next one is also another sequel, so that is
- 35:51Speaker 3: from production I g The Ninth Jedi Child of Hope
- 35:55Speaker 3: and it says pursued by Jedi hunters and blasted adrift
- 35:59Speaker 3: into space. Ara encounters a seemingly abandoned ship tended to
- 36:03Speaker 3: by a mysterious droid. And U Simu Lou is in
- 36:10Speaker 3: this one, okay, yeah, uh you want to go to
- 36:18Speaker 3: the next one?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yes, well, we talked briefly about it. Of course. It's
- 36:23Speaker 2: the Wit Studio The Bounty Hunters. A rogue bounty hunter
- 36:27Speaker 2: takes on a job for a shady industrialist and has
- 36:30Speaker 2: unexpected consequences for her and her droid. Director is Junichi Yamamoto.
- 36:37Speaker 2: The English voice cast, of course, is Earl Balen and
- 36:41Speaker 2: Ah Say, Ronnie Shang, Joseph Lee, and Jodie Turner Smith.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I want to go ahead and also reiterate, uh, well,
- 36:51Speaker 2: we haven't said this before. I don't want to be
- 36:53Speaker 2: disrespectful in saying the name is wrong. That's why I'm
- 36:57Speaker 2: not gonna be saying all of the Japanese voice actors
- 37:01Speaker 2: and I do apologize.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Uh, but yeah, I wasn't even gonna try. That's why
- 37:06Speaker 3: I hadn't said.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, well I don't. I don't want it
- 37:10Speaker 2: to come around be like, why did you only say
- 37:11Speaker 2: the English voice actors but the next episode title here
- 37:17Speaker 2: is from uh Kinema Citrus Company, Yuko's Treasure. The synopsis
- 37:24Speaker 2: is a sheltered orphan teams with a street rat kid
- 37:27Speaker 2: to rescue his droid caregiver and find a long lost treasure.
- 37:32Speaker 2: The director is uh Masaki Tachibana. English cast is Liam
- 37:39Speaker 2: Carlson Julian Paz for Doe uh federoov. I think is
- 37:50Speaker 2: how you maybe pronounce it?
- 37:52Speaker 3: This is why I wasn't trying.
- 37:56Speaker 2: But also like, I don't see any big name on
- 38:00Speaker 2: this one, So I do like how it's kind of
- 38:03Speaker 2: a mixture. There's gonna be names that you actually know,
- 38:07Speaker 2: whereas there might be just some really strong known voice
- 38:12Speaker 2: actors and actresses that are just attached to these projects.
- 38:16Speaker 2: And I really like that. The Kinemum Citrus Company is
- 38:21Speaker 2: also doing an episode called The Lost Ones, with the
- 38:27Speaker 2: synopsis being after assisting refugees escape a natural disaster and
- 38:33Speaker 2: Incognito f is forced to you what were you saying
- 38:41Speaker 2: to confront?
- 38:42Speaker 3: So this one is the other sequel. This is the
- 38:44Speaker 3: sequel to the Village Bride. Oh.
- 38:46Speaker 2: The Village Bride Okay Okay is forced to confront the
- 38:49Speaker 2: ghost of her past when their refuge g ship is
- 38:52Speaker 2: intercepted by the Empire. I also don't recognize any.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Oh, come on, you gotta least recognize Mark Strong.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Oh, yes, of course. Yeah. Oh and Ryan Potter if you,
- 39:07Speaker 2: of course have seen Titans. Uh, he was Beast Boy.
- 39:14Speaker 3: So that Karen Fukuhara from the Boys is.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Also yes, that is very true.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Uh. Next one is Trigger with the Smuggler desperate for
- 39:29Speaker 3: a quick payday. A smuggler takes a job to rescue
- 39:32Speaker 3: a fugitive from the Empire.
- 39:34Speaker 4: You have.
- 39:35Speaker 3: The director is Masahiko Atsuka. I don't recognize anybody in
- 39:43Speaker 3: this list, just for continuity's sake. The Dual Payback is
- 39:47Speaker 3: directed by Taka Nobu Mizuno, and the Song of Four
- 39:52Speaker 3: Wings is directed by Haro Yasu uh And the ninth Jed,
- 40:00Speaker 3: a Child of Hope, is drinted by now now Yoshi
- 40:04Speaker 3: hi Tani. The next the next one, after the Smuggler,
- 40:10Speaker 3: is by Polygon Pictures with the Bird of Paradise and
- 40:14Speaker 3: then says after she is blinded in battle, a hot
- 40:17Speaker 3: headed Jedi padawan must undergo a series of spiritual rituals
- 40:21Speaker 3: in order to overcome the temptation of the dark side,
- 40:25Speaker 3: and this is directed by Tadahiro a Ka Tati Yoshi Hira.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Yeah, the biggest name that you should know from here is,
- 40:38Speaker 2: of course George de Kay from of course Star Trek.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I feel like Victoria Grace I don't know. Yeah, George
- 40:48Speaker 2: is from is from Star Trek. I feel like Victoria
- 40:51Speaker 2: Grace is somebody I should know. Sounds familiar, but I'm
- 40:54Speaker 2: not entirely sure. But the last episode says here. Now
- 40:59Speaker 2: I say episode, but I'm not entirely sure. If this
- 41:03Speaker 2: is on the like listing, per epis like in order, right,
- 41:11Speaker 2: So so the last one here is called David production.
- 41:15Speaker 2: It is called Black. A psychedelic battle between past and present,
- 41:20Speaker 2: light and dark and life and death plays out in
- 41:24Speaker 2: the haunted psych of an Imperial trooper who is on
- 41:28Speaker 2: his cusp of defeat, directed by sina Urhira, and there
- 41:36Speaker 2: is no English voice cast. Now I take this to
- 41:44Speaker 2: be one or two things. One Star Wars dot Com
- 41:49Speaker 2: just forgot to place it on there, or two the
- 41:54Speaker 2: Psychedelic Battle is supposed to be a silent film, like
- 42:00Speaker 2: I think it is actually supposed to be a silent film,
- 42:04Speaker 2: and the Japanese version may have a little bit of narration.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Towards it is all I think.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that makes sense as well. It'll be
- 42:13Speaker 3: interesting to see, guys. Visions Volume three is out October
- 42:18Speaker 3: twenty ninth, on that day because that is a Wednesday, Guys,
- 42:23Speaker 3: on that day we will have kind of a brief
- 42:26Speaker 3: review of the entire thing with favorites and stuff. But
- 42:31Speaker 3: all of November we will be going through the episodes. Yeah,
- 42:38Speaker 3: we will tie the three sequels into one episode and
- 42:42Speaker 3: then the other two episodes of November will be focused
- 42:47Speaker 3: on the other six broken down three apiece. So just
- 42:53Speaker 3: so you guys know what to expect, because obviously if
- 42:56Speaker 3: it comes out on Wednesday, we're waking up early to
- 42:59Speaker 3: watch it, right and that.
- 43:02Speaker 2: And that is something that we have thought about as
- 43:06Speaker 2: well in discussed We have no idea if this is
- 43:09Speaker 2: going to be a you know, eight o'clock release or
- 43:14Speaker 2: whatever like the other shows have been recently. As far
- 43:21Speaker 2: as Disney Plus goes, we have of course had weekly releases.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I don't believe that's what they're going to do with this.
- 43:29Speaker 2: That's not what they have done in the past. I
- 43:32Speaker 2: think that it is a case of, hey, if it's
- 43:36Speaker 2: not broke, don't fix it. So I believe this will
- 43:41Speaker 2: be another two am drop and we will have to
- 43:44Speaker 2: watch these throughout the day and of course come in
- 43:48Speaker 2: at of course our regular time of seven pm and
- 43:52Speaker 2: just do an overall discussion.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 44:05Speaker 2: So with that, that is it for the news and
- 44:10Speaker 2: all of that jazz. We are going into our main
- 44:16Speaker 2: topic of the night, of course, being Revenge of the
- 44:19Speaker 2: Sith the novelization review. Now, Katie, at the beginning of
- 44:24Speaker 2: this podcast, I asked you a question. I said, what
- 44:28Speaker 2: is a novelization supposed to be? Can you tell me
- 44:34Speaker 2: in your own words what you believe a novelization is
- 44:39Speaker 2: supposed to be?
- 44:42Speaker 3: So, guys, to me, a novelization means it's basically an
- 44:48Speaker 3: adaptation of a movie. We see a lot of book
- 44:54Speaker 3: to movie adaptations, and book to movie adaptations always take
- 44:58Speaker 3: liberties with what's given to them and go, okay, let's
- 45:05Speaker 3: change this. Oh, but let's change this. So I feel
- 45:11Speaker 3: like to set scenes in a book, you have to
- 45:14Speaker 3: approach it differently than how a movie might do it,
- 45:18Speaker 3: because a movie can provide a lot of visual stimulization
- 45:22Speaker 3: to get how the get how the characters come to
- 45:30Speaker 3: a certain point, whereas in a book you need to
- 45:32Speaker 3: include more detail because you aren't seeing that kind of
- 45:35Speaker 3: stuff on screen. So to me, a novelization is simply
- 45:41Speaker 3: an adaptation, and an adaptation can take liberties.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Yeah, now, I I get that when I was listening,
- 45:53Speaker 2: because I don't. I have not read many adaptations. This
- 46:01Speaker 2: is the first Star Wars novel that I have read
- 46:06Speaker 2: that is an adaptation. Everything that we have read has
- 46:10Speaker 2: been an original story within Cannon. We have not read
- 46:15Speaker 2: like the Phantom Menace novelization or any in all of that.
- 46:20Speaker 2: This is the first one that we've read. In my mind,
- 46:26Speaker 2: what it is supposed to do is, of course, tell
- 46:32Speaker 2: the story that was told already on film and give
- 46:38Speaker 2: context in some scenarios. I do know that because I
- 46:48Speaker 2: saw it recently, I think literally today, because there was
- 46:53Speaker 2: some promotion being done for the twentieth anniversary deluxe edition
- 47:02Speaker 2: of this well actually I don't know if this is
- 47:05Speaker 2: the twentieth anniversary, but the deluxe edition of the novelization
- 47:10Speaker 2: coming out this year. There was a quote from George
- 47:14Speaker 2: Lucas that basically told the author, Hey, as long as
- 47:20Speaker 2: you don't mess up the original story, you could do
- 47:22Speaker 2: whatever you want. Was basically his one rule. There are
- 47:30Speaker 2: moments on my first listen, because again I listened to
- 47:34Speaker 2: the audiobook on this. On my second read, I did
- 47:40Speaker 2: borrow the digital book from my local library on Libby,
- 47:44Speaker 2: and so while I was listening, I was actually like
- 47:46Speaker 2: reading it as well. On my first listen, Katie, there
- 47:53Speaker 2: was some of the additional context that was added to
- 47:59Speaker 2: this book that I felt quote unquote ruined the surprise
- 48:07Speaker 2: of what was on film. But on my second listen,
- 48:12Speaker 2: I'm like, wait a second, if I'm reading this, I'm
- 48:15Speaker 2: not also watching it or I'm not intended to immediately
- 48:18Speaker 2: go watch the film. Instead, what I'm really supposed to
- 48:21Speaker 2: be doing is I'm supposed to be watching the film
- 48:23Speaker 2: and then reading the book. So I was taking it
- 48:27Speaker 2: in perspective of literally like picturing the movie in my
- 48:32Speaker 2: head and then like taking those additional scenes to see
- 48:36Speaker 2: where they fit and if they fit correctly. So the
- 48:42Speaker 2: very first like real additional scene that I could really
- 48:45Speaker 2: point out was there's a scene in the very beginning
- 48:49Speaker 2: of this book that is with Count Dooku and Palpatine
- 48:57Speaker 2: and doo Wu is getting off giddy because it's like, oh,
- 49:01Speaker 2: I get to like sit back and semi retire after this.
- 49:05Speaker 2: We're gonna you know, finally be you know, on the
- 49:08Speaker 2: road to recovery in this galactic war and whatnot. Blah
- 49:12Speaker 2: blah blah blah blah. And in my mind, I was thinking,
- 49:17Speaker 2: of course of the movie, and so I'm like, well,
- 49:20Speaker 2: this kind of ruins the surprise of the reveal of
- 49:25Speaker 2: Palpatine later down the line. That was why I kind
- 49:30Speaker 2: of had my hot take, because I was like, oh,
- 49:32Speaker 2: this doesn't really fit because like the big reveal is
- 49:36Speaker 2: the fact that Palpatine is the Sith Lord Sidious.
- 49:44Speaker 3: So like.
- 49:46Speaker 2: There was that feeling to it. I still liked this.
- 49:52Speaker 2: I still liked a lot of being able to have that,
- 49:58Speaker 2: you know, thought press a subduke who threw that fight.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I really did. I did enjoy that. I finally got
- 50:08Speaker 2: the context of the dragon we have. It was, I
- 50:16Speaker 2: believe a certain point of view that we last what
- 50:20Speaker 2: was the last one we returned to the Jedi That one
- 50:25Speaker 2: had a reference to the dragon. I was like, Oh,
- 50:27Speaker 2: that's kind of cool. I don't know what this is,
- 50:28Speaker 2: but that's kind of cool. Is literally a reference to
- 50:32Speaker 2: this story. It is the reference of the dragon that
- 50:37Speaker 2: is inside Anakin Skywalker. I dug that story. I like
- 50:42Speaker 2: the idea of Anakin at one moment in his Jedi career,
- 50:50Speaker 2: in his lifetime, literally seeing a dead sky or a
- 50:54Speaker 2: dead star and like contemplating life after that, Like that
- 50:59Speaker 2: is so cool. I really dig those moments.
- 51:04Speaker 3: I so I can give you fair points on Palpatine
- 51:11Speaker 3: being revealed kind of at the beginning, because that really
- 51:14Speaker 3: is the first time that Palpatine is utterly confirmed as sidious.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Because this book actually came out five months or not
- 51:25Speaker 3: five months a month for the movie actually came out.
- 51:32Speaker 3: What really was like the first time, Yeah, yeah, picked
- 51:43Speaker 3: this came out April second, two thousand and five, and
- 51:50Speaker 3: Revenge of the Sixth movie itself came out May sixteenth,
- 51:57Speaker 3: two thousand and five.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Now, granted, guys, I say this well in advanced knowing
- 52:06Speaker 2: that Palpatine is in factitious. Guys, Like, this is not
- 52:09Speaker 2: my first time, and even when I watched Revenge of
- 52:13Speaker 2: the Sith, I knew that Palpatine was sidious, Like it
- 52:18Speaker 2: was not a surprise to me whatsoever. But there's people
- 52:21Speaker 2: out there that were surprised. There's there's kids that like
- 52:28Speaker 2: the prequel trilogy was like their first form of Star Wars,
- 52:32Speaker 2: and then like they they were right there when it
- 52:36Speaker 2: was announced to Mace Windu and the other Jedi masters.
- 52:39Speaker 2: There's kids in that theater being like, oh my god,
- 52:43Speaker 2: you know, like well actually it would have been before
- 52:45Speaker 2: that with Anakin, but still, like you get the point.
- 52:49Speaker 2: And that's kind of like and and that's why I
- 52:53Speaker 2: felt like, ah, like there's some things here that go
- 52:57Speaker 2: a little above and beyond that that freedom of liberty
- 53:02Speaker 2: that they are having to be able to kind of
- 53:04Speaker 2: just mess with things. But again, he was giving full
- 53:08Speaker 2: rein to as long as you don't mess up the
- 53:11Speaker 2: core story, you could do whatever you want. And that's
- 53:14Speaker 2: exactly what they did. They did nothing to the core
- 53:18Speaker 2: story of Revenge of the Sith.
- 53:21Speaker 3: They really didn't. Matthew Stover had the script of Revenge
- 53:25Speaker 3: of the Sith, so you have all of like the
- 53:27Speaker 3: Rebel Alliance founding meetings, or in this book, you have
- 53:34Speaker 3: like originally in the movie, Kalpatine was supposed to like
- 53:40Speaker 3: make Obi Wan and Padme look like they were having
- 53:43Speaker 3: an affair. That's why you get that scene where.
- 53:46Speaker 2: And see, I didn't know that. So while I was
- 53:50Speaker 2: reading this book, guys, there's a ton of deleted scenes
- 53:54Speaker 2: in Revenge of the Sith, like We've talked about it before.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Shoot Man Mathma yep Uh, Jenevieve, she had a deleted
- 54:07Speaker 2: scene in Revenge at Sith. There are moments in this
- 54:13Speaker 2: book that do give a little bit more con like
- 54:17Speaker 2: context as to why the Rebel Alliance didn't birth literally
- 54:24Speaker 2: right then and there. They like they're specific wording that
- 54:38Speaker 2: is given to Padame that I really did enjoy it.
- 54:41Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, this makes sense now. This kind of
- 54:45Speaker 2: like shows how there is that slow burn for mon Mathma,
- 54:51Speaker 2: for Bail. I like the reasoning behind that. Now. I
- 54:56Speaker 2: will say this, if this was an actual scene in
- 55:01Speaker 2: Revenge of the Sith script and it did not make
- 55:04Speaker 2: it on screen, and it didn't, I'm actually really pissed
- 55:07Speaker 2: off if it actually was in the script. There is
- 55:10Speaker 2: a moment where Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda pretend to
- 55:17Speaker 2: be a hunchback and a baby and they talked to
- 55:25Speaker 2: a clone and they're like, oh, well, how do I
- 55:30Speaker 2: know that's a baby? And Yoda's like, oh, I guess
- 55:34Speaker 2: this lightsaber will tell you, and then he starts killing
- 55:36Speaker 2: people like it was the cheesiest thing I have ever
- 55:42Speaker 2: seen in a Star Wars book. And I'm actually really
- 55:45Speaker 2: mad that it didn't make it on screen.
- 55:49Speaker 3: I don't think that would have been a scene in
- 55:52Speaker 3: the script.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Well, but because again when you it's super funny and
- 56:00Speaker 2: the tone completely shifts for that one moment, and I
- 56:05Speaker 2: think ultimately if it was an actual scene in the script,
- 56:10Speaker 2: that's why it had to be cut, because it completely twists.
- 56:16Speaker 2: When you watch Revenge of the Sith, all of the
- 56:21Speaker 2: quote unquote funny moments are literally before the fight with Douku,
- 56:28Speaker 2: the moment Douku's head gets completely chopped off. There is
- 56:33Speaker 2: no funny moments in that movie. Now you can like
- 56:41Speaker 2: we as a phenomenon of a fandom have made memes
- 56:46Speaker 2: about you know, hello there and the entire uh uh
- 56:54Speaker 2: for my empire speech at the very end, like we
- 56:57Speaker 2: as the Internet have memed about that. We have made
- 57:00Speaker 2: that funny. But the context of the movie, there is
- 57:04Speaker 2: no humorous moments after Duke whose head is sliced. And
- 57:11Speaker 2: so that's why, Like when I first because again listening
- 57:16Speaker 2: in audiobook, the narrator had to do it in Yoda's
- 57:20Speaker 2: voice and all this other stuff, it was absolutely hilarious.
- 57:23Speaker 2: I had to actually rewind the audiobook and make sure
- 57:27Speaker 2: that actually happened because I was like, there's no way
- 57:30Speaker 2: this is actually in the Star Wars But yeah, I
- 57:35Speaker 2: think that this book did exactly what it was supposed
- 57:38Speaker 2: to do. It was an adaptation getting the actual Like
- 57:43Speaker 2: somewhat definition here, a novelization is an adaptation of a
- 57:50Speaker 2: story from another medium, most commonly film, TV series, comic,
- 57:53Speaker 2: or video game. So yeah, there is special liberties with that.
- 58:00Speaker 2: I really loved the opening of like making Obi Wan
- 58:06Speaker 2: and Anakin like larger than life heroes of the galaxy.
- 58:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like this is very like soap opera esque,
- 58:15Speaker 3: very Shakespeare. You're set up into a wave where you
- 58:22Speaker 3: could basically put this on screen and go okay. This
- 58:25Speaker 3: story has given you the basis to put it on
- 58:29Speaker 3: screen without ever having to see Revenge of the Sid basically,
- 58:34Speaker 3: and I like, so okay. So this novelization was my
- 58:40Speaker 3: second Star Wars first book. I read Children of the
- 58:43Speaker 3: Jedi first, but then Children of the Jedi is how
- 58:48Speaker 3: I fell in love with Star Wars. And so then
- 58:51Speaker 3: it was just about to be where Revenge of the
- 58:54Speaker 3: Sith was coming out, and so my mom and dad
- 58:57Speaker 3: went to go see Revenge of the Sith to basically
- 59:00Speaker 3: screen it and see if it was appropriate for me
- 59:03Speaker 3: to go see h and they decided it was too violent,
- 59:08Speaker 3: and so my mom bought the novelization and read it
- 59:13Speaker 3: to us, and she still filtered out the mega violent parts,
- 59:18Speaker 3: like she literally, guys, she literally had post it notes
- 59:22Speaker 3: over sections where she had annotated, hey say this instead
- 59:27Speaker 3: of this page, basically because the page was too violent,
- 59:34Speaker 3: and so like I fell in love with the novelization
- 59:36Speaker 3: even with those eliminations tacond place, Like I didn't remember
- 59:41Speaker 3: the hunchbag scene with Obi Wan carrying baby Yoda, Like
- 59:45Speaker 3: I didn't remember that at all. Like I imagine my mom
- 59:48Speaker 3: took that out because it was killing people. Like this
- 59:52Speaker 3: novelization is just it expands the story so much and
- 59:57Speaker 3: allows you to see what probably because George Lucas had
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: stared at the script over and over again, and he
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: probably didn't take any critiques on it. Really, I mean,
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: like the dude knew what he wanted and so he
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: probably looked at it and saw, okay, I understand what's happening.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: But realistically he probably needed somebody else to come in
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: and say, hey, I don't understand what's happening, to really
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: edit the story and go okay, we need to build
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: up to everything in a New Hope properly. So let's
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: include this, let's include that. And so this novelization takes
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: that and runs with it, like I love that. George
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Lucas was like, hey, yeah, go for it. Like and
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: apparently George Lucas literally took the book and gave it
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: a line edit like and said, hey, instead of this word,
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: use this word. Like that's how much he edited this
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: novelization to get it down to what he still wanted
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: it to look like. Come hair to the movie. Is
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: there liberties taken with this? Yes? But this is one
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: of the best novelizations I've ever read. This is truly
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: the best adaptation given to a story, whether it's Star
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Wars or not. Like, I am not a Lord of
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: the Rings fan. The movies for Lord of the Rings
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: are better than the book. Like that's how much I
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: can't stand the Lord.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Of the Rings.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Wow, that's a hot take. I have not mustered the
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: strength to purchase the Lord of the Rings books, the
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Hobbit and all of that because they are so like overwhelming,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Like I look at those books and I'm just like,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: The Hobbit in that by the way the Lord of
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: the Rings movies themselves, the Hobbit movies garbage. Lord of
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: the Rings movies good, uh, better than the book. This
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: book is better than the movie in and of itself,
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: like Leaps and Bounds, And don't get me wrong, I
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: greatly appreciate George Lucas for bringing us the movies so
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: that other people could play in this universe, because I
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: think other people needed to play in this universe in
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: order to make the series work as what it is today.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: Let's be real, if it wasn't for other people playing
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: in the sandbox, Disney would have never boxed Star Wars.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: We would never have more Star Wars movies. It would
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: just be the sixth.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: There.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: There was some things in this book that I think
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: were great additions to context and how they both were
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: via in the novelization versus in the movie. The biggest
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: example of this is the addition of Qui gon Jen
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: at the end of the book. We know that in
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: the movie at the very end, when Yoda and Bail
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: and Obi Wanan are all talking about what their next
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: move is, how do we go into hiding? What's next
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: for the children. All of that, Yoda says, hey before
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: you go a mission I have for you, given to
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: me by your old master, and he's like, Qui gone,
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: and then it moves scenes. It's like a really big
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: it's like a really like reveal. Right, So I like
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: how that happens. I also like how in this book
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: we get the voice of Qui gon Jen actually talking
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: to Yoda.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: Yeah, in a in a.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Portion where everything has kind of simmered down a bit,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Yoda's on his own, and then Qui gon Jin reaches
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: out to Yoda. I like how it happened organically. They
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: didn't kind of force it or shoehorn it in there.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: It happened really at the perfect spot where you're not like, oh, well,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: is this really a place where Qui gon Jen would
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: have talked to Yoda and all of that. There's no
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: need to have that conversation. It just works. There is
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: also I'm trying to think what other stuff was in there,
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: the additional Jedi that Anakin killed, that Darth Vader killed.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I have one complaint about this. The destruction of the
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Jedi temple and everything else is fine now, I believe
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: it is. When the when they're on Mustafar and Anakin
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: is slaughtering the separatists. There's I can't remember who it was,
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: but they are like pleading to Darth Vader like, oh,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: you know, we were promised like all this stuff, we
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: were gonna be rewarded handsomely. And Darth Vader says, oh,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: you don't believe him handsome and then like kills him
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: like ibsolute.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: I don't really think that fits well, Like that is
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: an Anakin thing to say, not necessarily something that I
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: would believe Darth Vader to say.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: You know well, And that's I think it is very clear.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: I feel like this separatist slaughter on most of art
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: basically kind of converts Anakin fully into the Darth persona.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: I feel like Anakin is still shining through at some
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: points in what we get with Order sixty six, the
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Palpatine conversation, and then yeah, Padme, I feel like Anakin
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: still shows through there. I feel like Darth Vader takes
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: over after the separatist thing, because Anakin goes, wait, but
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: do you see what I can do and then go
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: like figures out like oh, like I'll kill Palpatine after
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: I get the secret to Eternal Life, I'll take over
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: the galaxy. Padme will rule I will be her princes
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: kind of thing, like he gets all of that in
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: his head.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: I think that is supposed to be like like legitimately
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: what happens, because if you remember in the movie, after
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: the slaughter, we get that really close up of Anakin's
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: face and his eyes finally like his eye color changes
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: and everything else, it's supposed to resemble that Anakin is
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: no longer there. So I think that does work perfectly.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because I feel like Anakin as a fighter
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: is definitely quippi. And I mean we still even get
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: that with Darth Vader in Rebels, in other in like
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: the comics and stuff where Darth Vader still equips and
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: so in that case, like it's still there.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: That is true. There was that one quip that we
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: both were like, oh that was really cool in a
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: bad Batch Sanctuary at the very end of that book. Yeah,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: so I get that. I still think what annoys me most,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: and this annoys me, like even in the actual movie
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: is the lack of conversation with Anakin Skywalker in the Council.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: I think that that is still something that was like
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: you still got more contact over it, for sure, Like
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: I think that's that's one of the most frustrating things
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: is if you watch Revenge of the Sith, you don't
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: really know why, like you can kind of like say, like, Okay,
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: they want him to do this, they don't want you
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: know him to know too much. Blah blah blah. You
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: get every juicy detail of what the council is talking about,
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: and it's still like there's a moment where Yoda in
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: the conversations of like, hey, we're gonna take down Palpatine today,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: We're gonna do it right now, And Yoda's like, what
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: about Anakin? And I'm like, thank you, somebody finally wants
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: to bring him in, And Mace Winder's like, nah, I'm
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: gonna do it, and I'm like, good damn it, dude,
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Like you like, you're right there, you're right there.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: You have no trust in him because you're worried about
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: him potentially turning. But if you had had trust in him,
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: he might not have turned. You can't say he wouldn't
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: have turned, but his frustration with the Jedi councils that
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: they have no trust. Yeah, and so if they had
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: given more trust, that could have done a lot of
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: good things for the Jedi Order. Obviously, not an overall
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: critique of the novelisation and the context had no choice
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: on that.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Yeah and no, and I'm just saying I'm stating it,
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: like the consistency with that still works, and also like
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: for all of you who are still mad at the concept,
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: it's still here in this anobilization, you know, so nothing
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: there changes and the I liked the well, I will
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: say this. I did put one note and I did
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: already reiterate this, but these were my exact thoughts after
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: reading the chapter. It was. Chapter two is when the
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: reveal of Palpatine with Douku, and I literally wrote, I
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: think going into too much detail having the discussion of
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Douku and Palpatine about their plans, of course, to ultimately
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: fail to show that Palpatine always has plans for his
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: own partially ruins the reveal the way it's supposed to
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: happen organically, was my initial thought.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: I do also feel that sidious as Palpatine is not
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: the big part of the story here, though, Like, and
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: that's just my opinion. If that's like a big part
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: of your opinion with this, then that's fine. I don't
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: I've never considered sidious being Palpatine to be a big
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: part of it. I also felt like it made any
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: can It made Palpatine's betrayal of Douku all the more
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: poignant because is Douku doesn't realize that, hey, I'm actually
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: gonna die here so that Anaikin can take over as
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: pad one. Like reading Douku's thoughts that Stover puts into
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: this as he's waiting to die by Anakin's hand, he realizes, like,
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: you see that on oh my gosh, I can't remember
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: the actor's face, Christopher Lely, Christopherly, you see that on
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Christopherly's face, like that look of betrayal. But putting those
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: thoughts out into the universe that Stover does, like it's
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: insane that he realizes, hey, I was never supposed to
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: make it out of this alive, like and that just
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: makes Antonakins fall to the dark side all the more
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: dangerous well like.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: And it it does play into like the like all
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: of those details play into further into the book because uh,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: I don't believe I can't remember exactly, but I don't leave.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Mace Wind brings it up in the movie, but in
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: here in the novelization, he tells Anakin like while he's
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: facing off against Palpatine. He does say, Hey, you killed
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: Douku and you felt that it was necessary, don't you
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: believe that I should feel like this is necessary as well?
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Like they play on that, and I do like that
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: portion of it, and you're right, I do. Like there
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: was a moment where in the beginning of the book,
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: like Douku is talking to both Obi Wan and Anakin
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: and they say something about Palpatine, and like he literally says, oh,
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I had such an urge to wink at Palpatine but
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: decided not to. And I'm like, okay, playing koy with it.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: I do like that a little bit. But yeah, I
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: still like all of the like intense details that they
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: give to the things that we did see in the movie,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: the firefight with the ships, the very beginning.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: The one thing that I'm still not entirely sure if
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: i'd necessarily like is every every major character in this
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: book gets like a small little like monologue like hey,
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: this is who I am, type of like paragraph in
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: the book. I don't know if I necessarily love that.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Like there's there's a there's a moment where, like in
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: the very beginning where obi was like, oh, this is
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Obi Wan he you know, this is how he fights,
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: this is how he is towards Anakin, blah blah blah,
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: and then it goes to Anakin, and it goes to Patame,
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: it goes to Dooku and things like that.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: I feel like that also meant to like lean into
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: the opera esque feel of it, because it's like your
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: introduction to the character. Like and again thinking back to
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: how George Lucas initially meant this, like he really didn't.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: He intended it forward to be like, Okay, hey, you
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: jump into an episode of Saturday Cartoons, so you just
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: kind of need that introduction in.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: The very very it's very theater esque.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I enjoy those points because I feel like that
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: has been some of like the biggest quotes out of
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: this book is those elements. Uh this is obi Wan
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: like on on the deluxe edition, this is how it
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: feels to be Anakin Skywalker forever. Like he's leaning into
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: the emotional details of the character and giving you that
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: insight without taking away from the plot of the story.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: It's like a snippet. It's very much like a t
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: show where like you're slowing down kind of and it's
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: like the lightsabers coming in and you go, this is
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Anakin Skywalker. He does. I could see that, Like, that's
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: how I have always pictured it. I love those elements.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: I one thing that I did like in that same
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: kind of vein is because in the most recent books
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: that we have been reading and I and I will
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: be zeroing in on C three Pouh for a particular
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: review that we're actually going to be putting on Patreon.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: By the way, guys, if you are unaware, we are
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: reviewing the New Jedi Order books on Patreon. If you
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: want to go listen to those only five dollars for
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: our Patreon, go visit it, go check it out. But
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: in here, I do like that C. Three is more
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: than just the side character. Yeah, he plays a specific role.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Although he is kind of like this silly in the movies,
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: this silly kind of comedic relief kind of like, hey,
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: let's kind of ease the tension here type of character
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: he was able to play off of like the scenes
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: that he was involved in, so like with the whole entire, like, oh,
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: the Jedi coup and you know, the Order is being
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: destroyed and all this other thing. Oh, Obi Wan is here.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: I should probably call somebody oh wait, Padame is actually
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: acting pretty chill with him, so maybe I should just
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: step back a little bit, Like I like those moments
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: because again, just like those little hey, let's slow down
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: a bit moments, CEE three po is actually being used
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: for that moment and you get to see a scene
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: from their point of view looking into Patame and Obi Wan. Right,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: So I do like that. It still wows me. I didn't.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: It didn't even dawn on me until you literally you
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: said it that that they were supposed to like be
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: having an affair, which I think now was like, oh wow, okay, yeah,
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: that totally makes sense. That's why it was written like that,
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: just the way that Bale was like, oh you already
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: know her name, you know who it is? Uh So yeah,
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I I overall, I will say my hot take isn't
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: so hot anymore. I think it is understandable. But like
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: you said, the reveal of Palpatine is not the main
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: takeaway of this book. It is all of the is
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: literally all the meat and potatoes of this book is
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: what is supposed to be taken uh when reading this,
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: because again you're supposed to in my mind, this is
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: not how an that's this is not how everybody's supposed
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: to do it, because anybody can do whatever they want.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: But in my mind, you watch the movie, then you
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: read the adaptation, so like you you get all the
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: little small uh context to the big major parts, Like
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: there was the Commander Cody one, the Order sixty six
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: announcements like oh did you have to give it to
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: me now? And you know, not like why do you
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: have to wait until I gave you gave them the lightsaber?
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: Like cause there because again there's like this small like
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: inkling that they're still inside there, you know, rather than
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: just like the immediate turn to Order sixty six. I
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: do like that.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I love the Cody moment because you always felt
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: like apparently I just kicked Matt off its Xbox because
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: I told him, Hey, I'm having issues with my internet
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: the soaps. Sorry, Matt, we're finishing up. So yeah, I
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: love that moment with Commander Cody because I always felt
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: like that needed to be in there, because you go like, oh,
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: hey you're missing something and like hands it back to
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: him and then like seconds later Order sixty six crap. Okay, Yeah,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: I love that, and I think.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Even up you cut out say that again, it's trying. Okay, Okay,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: I am marking this down as something that I need
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: to edit, but go ahead and say that again.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: I feel like getting that snippet in the novelization also
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: makes the bad batch with Cody at the end like
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: even more special, just as he like as he like recognizes, hey,
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: this is what happened like kind of thing.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I get that that And that's something that
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: I think a lot of people need to consider as well. That, like,
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: because this is still Cannon, it puts so much weight
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: on other portions of the timeline.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: So this is actually not canon. It's still considered a
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: part of Legends. Really, Yeah, so I'm going to be
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: putting it on my Cannon shelf just because it's a
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: hardcover and I don't have any other Legends hardcover books.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: But it's not technically Cannon.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Despicable. I actually like this enough to say that it's canon.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Why is it not canon?
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: Because that's what Disney has chosen to do.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: That's so dumb now, cause again, like you also add
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: ventures in here, Like that's something that we had no
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: idea about at the time of this release.
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: Because Stover pulls and stuff from the comics, he pulls
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: and stuff from all of like the other Legends items,
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: So yeah, we could head canon the shit out of anything.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: It could be canon that.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Is true, that is true, and.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: The other novelizations on my shelves.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: I was gonna say, my Star Wars collection is not
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: as intensive as yours, so all of my books are
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: literally all together. The only thing that is separate is
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: my mass market New Jedi Order books, so those are
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: separate on my shelf, but all of my Star Wars
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: books are together.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: So yeah, I separated up. So we have high Republic
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: and prequels over here, and then oh no, it's not
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: gonna turn So then over here we have Empire time period,
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: and then we have movie time period on a second shelf,
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: and then we have posts original trilogy into sequel trilogy.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: So basically I have three shelves. The shelves on a
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: shelf dedicated to Star Wars books, and then I put
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: stuff around.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: It works great for me. I think that works perfectly. Actually,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: there's three different trilogies, three different shelves. I think that
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: works perfect. But is there anything else that you wanted
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: to add for the review? Any insights or anything like that.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: I don't think so I mean, we know the plot
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: of this. I think we've talked about a lot of
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: the highlights of this novelization. Truly, this one is super special.
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: I'm so happy that the flex edition. Again, in random
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: house worlds, you always just know what to come up
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: with to make fans super happy. So thank you, and again, guys,
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: make sure you go check out the deluxe edition. I
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: believe it's listed for sixty bucks at most retailers, but
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: to me, as a collector of Star Wars books, it's
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: worth getting this special edition. And there's a lot more
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: feature to this special edition compared to some of the
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: other special editions we're seeing out nowadays.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm literally looking at all of the different
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: covers for this. There was CDs of this, there was
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: a book on tape CDs. There is actually a Romanian
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: movie like like the actual movie poster had their cover
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: with this, which I am actually really jealous of. And
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: then of course at the very bottom it does show
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: of course the twentieth anniversary cover. But yeah, I actually
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: really enjoyed this. I'm just gonna have to double down
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: that I am. I am so mad now that y
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: go to acting like a baby is not Cannon and
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: that should immediately be fixed because just how you reiterated
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: early earlier in the actual review, you know you you
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: were stating down here on the Wikipedia, it does state
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: that was rebranded in twenty fourteen as legends under the
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: classification classification C. Cannon have no idea what that means,
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: but I don't know what that means either. Well, I'm
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: gonna have to do some research on that then. But yeah,
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: I just think that life would be better knowing that
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: Yoda had pretended to be a baby to get inside
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: the Jedi temple, and that should be canon. But with that, guys,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: thank you so much for being here. We truly appreciate
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: it every single time. Of course, we do have ways
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: to reach out to us. If you check out Instagram,
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Blue Sky, or Threads. We are on there. Like always,
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: we have been posting more. We are literally planning out
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: content which I absolutely love, and I will tell you this. Unfortunately,
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: just due to the fact that we are uh you know,
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: just with the announcement today with you know, Microsoft and
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Xbox upping subscription prices, everything is getting more expensive. Guys.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: I am finding an alternative for the hotline, but until
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: like for now, it is still live, but that number
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: will be going away. We are gonna find an alternative.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: My wife Abby has literally just talked to me today
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: about how there is something like this already implemented onto
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: the internet that might be a little bit easier for
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: you guys, rather than actually texting and giving out your
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: phone numbers and stuff. So for now, the hotline is
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: a three zero five thirty eight four eight two eight.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: You could text or leave us a message. Again, there
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: is going to be an alternative to that very soon,
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: but of course you can always leave us a message
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: on Instagram, on Blue Sky, or on threads, as well
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: as our Gmail account at Star Wars Alliance at gmail
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: dot com. Same with the user name Star Wars Alliance
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: No A in the Wars very important, don't forget it.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: You can always find me at Fanboyclay on all three
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: of those platforms. Katie. What about you, y'all?
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: You can find me on most social media platforms and
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: is at Slice of Katie. Yeah. If I'm there, you'll
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: see me, and if not, I'll get back to you
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: at some point or another. So with that, guys, I
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: want to wish everyone a great day or night, whatever
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: time of day you were listening or watching, and you'll
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: see you next time. It force should be with you
