- 0:06Speaker 1: You know, just speaking of your career, Trump, you put
- 0:09Speaker 1: the work in. You know, you can talk about guys
- 0:11Speaker 1: that come quickly, you know, you talk about Frank Rodriguez
- 0:14Speaker 1: or some guys that kind of really move forward. You
- 0:19Speaker 1: worked hard in the minor leagues. Seems like you spent
- 0:23Speaker 1: about fifteen years in the minor leagues. I mean it
- 0:25Speaker 1: seemed like it was a while, but you figured it out.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You move forward and became a force in the major leagues.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And for every guy that maybe moves a little quicker,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I think there's a guy that got guy in your
- 0:38Speaker 1: shoes that maybe is that little late bloomer, gets together
- 0:41Speaker 1: a little bit later, but doesn't give up on themselves
- 0:45Speaker 1: and moves forward. I think that's the beauty of this
- 0:47Speaker 1: game is is just to see the different paths that
- 0:52Speaker 1: you know, the young men take to get into pro
- 0:55Speaker 1: ball first of all, but make it to the major leagues.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And I certainly were all tipped our up to what
- 1:00Speaker 1: you did because we know what a grind it was.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And once you figured it out, though you had it,
- 1:05Speaker 1: there was no doubt about that.
- 1:08Speaker 2: You know, repeating levels is a lot of fun. It's
- 1:12Speaker 2: you know, that's what you want to do.
- 1:14Speaker 3: But you know what.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's like being hill back in school. You know where
- 1:18Speaker 1: we answer the last year, but it was still you know,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you had you had challenges for sure, and you know
- 1:26Speaker 1: you came out on the other side of it in
- 1:28Speaker 1: the sunshine and it was great to watch.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Well when I you know, I needed to work. I
- 1:33Speaker 4: think part of being as i'm maturity a better self
- 1:36Speaker 4: evaluator and probably as a younger, especially as a minor leaguer,
- 1:40Speaker 4: I didn't do a very good job. I you know,
- 1:42Speaker 4: probably thought my defense was just fine and everyone else
- 1:46Speaker 4: knew it was not. And you know, Rob Peachelo, I
- 1:51Speaker 4: credit with uh, you know, a tony. I don't know
- 1:55Speaker 4: how many countless hours behind the scenes and unique drills
- 1:59Speaker 4: that I would be doing alone. I'd noticed it was
- 2:01Speaker 4: just me and that started to clue me in pretty quickly.
- 2:04Speaker 4: That was instructionally, but you know I had a long
- 2:07Speaker 4: way to go in the eyes of many. And uh
- 2:09Speaker 4: but I did you know one thing I never got
- 2:11Speaker 4: sent down And that may not matter to a lot
- 2:14Speaker 4: of people, but it was. It was I'm pretty proud
- 2:17Speaker 4: of that, and you know that's everyone's got things they
- 2:21Speaker 4: look back on. But I do, you know, not going
- 2:23Speaker 4: to the Hall of Fame, nothing like that. But I
- 2:25Speaker 4: can't say that, So that was kind of special.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I wanted to ask.
- 2:29Speaker 4: About a center fielder you you managed fairly certain you're
- 2:34Speaker 4: going to say he was the most talented player that
- 2:37Speaker 4: that you had the privilege of managing. I think you
- 2:41Speaker 4: know he's a Northeast guy too. Maybe you joked at
- 2:45Speaker 4: times about playing them in football and you know, taking
- 2:50Speaker 4: it to him and taking something else. But uh, you know,
- 2:54Speaker 4: maybe your first impressions of a young Mike trout and
- 2:57Speaker 4: you know his progression as as you saw.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Him, Well, you're right about Trouty. I mean Troudy's East Coast.
- 3:03Speaker 1: He's very family oriented and from the first day he
- 3:08Speaker 1: stepped on the field, everyone was raving about not only
- 3:12Speaker 1: his physical ability, but his his toughness and uh and
- 3:17Speaker 1: and everything he could bring to you know, to to
- 3:21Speaker 1: a baseball team.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And you know, Mike worked very hard.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I mean, his talent level was unbelievable, but he worked
- 3:29Speaker 1: very hard on the defensive end, not because he wasn't good.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He wanted to be the best he could be. Obviously,
- 3:35Speaker 1: the plate, running the bases, everything, everything was just it
- 3:40Speaker 1: looks so easy to Mike to go play baseball at
- 3:43Speaker 1: this level. But he worked very hard at it, and
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, he grew up just on the just east
- 3:49Speaker 1: of Philadelphia in South Jersey, big Philadelphia sports fan, so
- 3:55Speaker 1: I know we kind of bonded with that, and what
- 3:59Speaker 1: what what he comes. I'm a great family, tremendous family man,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and I really think that Mike still has the ability
- 4:07Speaker 1: to do some of the things that have kind of,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you know, it have kind of slipped a little bit,
- 4:14Speaker 1: is contingent on some of his health. But if you
- 4:16Speaker 1: saw the swing the back the last two weeks of
- 4:19Speaker 1: the season last season, you know it's still in there,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and I'm excited to see what it might turn out
- 4:25Speaker 1: to be this year. You asked me about tough conversations, though,
- 4:30Speaker 1: one of them was you forced You forced it. Remember
- 4:34Speaker 1: when you came up and Vernon Wells had gotten banged up.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You might not realize this, but Vernon Wells was you know,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I was supposed to go out there and play, and
- 4:45Speaker 1: you played so well, You played so well out there
- 4:50Speaker 1: that we all.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Had to have you know, I had to have.
- 4:54Speaker 1: A conversation with Vernon, and you know, he'd been being
- 4:57Speaker 1: a veteran and he took it very heart, but I said,
- 4:59Speaker 1: vern I said, there is no way that we can
- 5:03Speaker 1: take Mark Trumpell out of the lineup. You're going to
- 5:07Speaker 1: have to try to get some bats. We can get
- 5:09Speaker 1: them for you, but he's got a play. So you
- 5:12Speaker 1: forced ahead that tough conversation.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I don't know if you.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Realize at the time, but you certainly are in that position,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and you were. We were a better team with you
- 5:21Speaker 1: playing out there every day.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Well, I didn't know about that conversation. I do remember
- 5:27Speaker 4: when they switched the banners in the front of the stadium.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Mine went up and it just went down. And I
- 5:33Speaker 2: bring you to the hard thing. No, no, I know that,
- 5:41Speaker 2: I know that.
- 5:41Speaker 4: But Vernon was a tremendous teammate. He really I think people,
- 5:45Speaker 4: you know, Angel fans might not. You know, the production
- 5:49Speaker 4: wasn't quite what it was in Toronto, but I have
- 5:52Speaker 4: to give him credit. He was a great mentor to me.
- 5:55Speaker 4: He held some team events behind the scenes and did
- 5:58Speaker 4: a lot of things that went a long way that
- 6:01Speaker 4: you know, maybe haven't been talked about. But I just
- 6:03Speaker 4: wanted to make it known that you know, he was
- 6:06Speaker 4: a first class teammate and he never held anything against me.
- 6:09Speaker 2: You know, because we did.
- 6:11Speaker 4: You know, I took some of his playing time and
- 6:13Speaker 4: I know some guys wouldn't react very well to that.
- 6:16Speaker 1: No, he he, he took it like a pro after
- 6:19Speaker 1: the initial you know, meeting of of and he worked hard.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I mean, he worked hard to get back his game back.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And now he was even though it was tough. It's
- 6:29Speaker 1: tough when everybody here is that, you know, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 1: we've all been there. But he eventually took it the
- 6:34Speaker 1: way I knew he would take it, and I know
- 6:37Speaker 1: he helped you and mentored you would talk about one
- 6:40Speaker 1: of the things you're you know that you know, we
- 6:43Speaker 1: get lost sometimes in what we're about in this game.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And you did you did something that really I think
- 6:50Speaker 1: shows your depth of character. And it was off the field.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You were scheduled to go to the the the Children's
- 6:59Speaker 1: Chris was part of the Dangers what have every year
- 7:02Speaker 1: a lot of these kids were under you know, we're
- 7:05Speaker 1: underprivileged and would come and have a great day at
- 7:09Speaker 1: the stadium and get gifts. In your scheduled to do it.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And a couple of weeks before that, you find out
- 7:16Speaker 1: that you're traded to the Diamondbacks and lo and behold
- 7:22Speaker 1: they had talked about from the word I get scheduling
- 7:26Speaker 1: someone else to take your place, and when they called you,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you said, no, no, no, no, if you unless you
- 7:32Speaker 1: don't want me there, because I'm a diamondback, I'm going
- 7:35Speaker 1: to be there. And you showed up and you gave
- 7:39Speaker 1: those kids a smile for one day and Trump, it's
- 7:42Speaker 1: one of the best things that I've heard along from
- 7:45Speaker 1: from my life. And I want to, you know, let
- 7:49Speaker 1: you know what it meant to all of us that
- 7:50Speaker 1: you did that. It shows the character you have and
- 7:54Speaker 1: what you're about. So that was that was a beautiful thing.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Well thanks.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 4: At the time, I you know, I did it for
- 8:02Speaker 4: what I felt were the right reasons. I didn't expect
- 8:04Speaker 4: any you know, kind of publicity or you know, it
- 8:07Speaker 4: was nice that people did acknowledge it, but I just said,
- 8:10Speaker 4: you know, it's the right thing to do. It's it's
- 8:12Speaker 4: it's nothing. You know that it's about these kids. It's
- 8:14Speaker 4: it's not about me. And uh, I.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Appreciate you saying that that that means a lot.
- 8:20Speaker 4: And you know, there's there's a lot of ways, as
- 8:22Speaker 4: you know, a player, you can give back, and especially
- 8:24Speaker 4: with with with kids.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I tried to sign.
- 8:28Speaker 4: As many autographs for everyone as I could, but especially
- 8:32Speaker 4: for for the kids because it can really go a
- 8:34Speaker 4: long way. And the Christmas party and things like that.
- 8:38Speaker 4: They don't happen all the time, but when they do,
- 8:40Speaker 4: you want to do what you can. I think it's
- 8:42Speaker 4: very important. So I appreciate that. There's a couple of
- 8:45Speaker 4: things I wanted to ask you about in the current
- 8:48Speaker 4: game that I think, you know you you would be
- 8:51Speaker 4: a perfect one to ask.
- 8:52Speaker 2: The catching on one knee. I don't personally like it.
- 8:56Speaker 4: I've picked guys brains about it that are in the
- 8:59Speaker 4: game that are you know, sorry, Hank, but uh you know,
- 9:05Speaker 4: and they've they've explained it to me, uh you know,
- 9:09Speaker 4: and Hank's explained it in a good way. But I
- 9:11Speaker 4: can't stomach watching a run score because the guy's trying
- 9:14Speaker 4: to steal a strike, you know, below the knee or something.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I don't understand that maybe you could help me with that.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Trouble's a couple of things, you know, I caught an
- 9:24Speaker 1: eon ago, but I remember being an instructional league in
- 9:29Speaker 1: nineteen seventy seven and Del Crandell, who was one of
- 9:31Speaker 1: the big influences of my life as far as becoming,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know, approving as a catcher. He would he would
- 9:40Speaker 1: talk about the low pitch and he would tell us,
- 9:43Speaker 1: look at we need to get that glove up under
- 9:46Speaker 1: the up under the hitters knee, and we certainly want
- 9:49Speaker 1: to catch that that low pitch coming up.
- 9:52Speaker 3: And he would let us.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Drop our glove about six inches so we can maintain
- 9:55Speaker 1: a target and we would catch that low pitch coming
- 9:58Speaker 1: up and we would we would frame it and we
- 10:01Speaker 1: will get the strike calls that you know that they're
- 10:03Speaker 1: getting today. I think you can accomplish this from a
- 10:07Speaker 1: conventional stance, as you know, as as as easy asy
- 10:12Speaker 1: you to do from one knee. Now here's the rub.
- 10:17Speaker 1: There's so much responsibility a catcher has. If there's nobody
- 10:20Speaker 1: on first pitch to a hitter, all you really have
- 10:24Speaker 1: to worry about is giving a target a catching the ball.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Well right now is they put so much focus on
- 10:30Speaker 1: getting up under the ball that the target evaporates and
- 10:34Speaker 1: most pitchers are thrown into a black hole now because
- 10:37Speaker 1: I don't have that perspective of where the glove would be.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So so when when a guy, when you get two
- 10:45Speaker 1: strikes on a hitter, that responsibility grows from it, just
- 10:49Speaker 1: catch the ball to you always need to receive the ball.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But you know what, I need to have some mobility
- 10:57Speaker 1: to block that slider if it's going to be a
- 10:59Speaker 1: little bit off corner in the dirt, to get my
- 11:01Speaker 1: body in front of it.
- 11:03Speaker 3: It was right in front of me. It's easy.
- 11:05Speaker 1: But if you tried to catch on one knee and
- 11:07Speaker 1: block Frankie Rodriguez's breaking ball that landed eighteen inches to
- 11:12Speaker 1: your right, you'd have to wave at it.
- 11:14Speaker 3: You couldn't do it.
- 11:16Speaker 1: So my question to like Hank or anybody that says
- 11:20Speaker 1: you have to be on one knee and not give
- 11:23Speaker 1: a target, is why is it a question of either one?
- 11:28Speaker 3: Why can't we do both?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Why can't we get a conventional stance, give a target
- 11:33Speaker 1: that a pitcher needs, drop the glove a little bit,
- 11:37Speaker 1: come up underneath that low pitch and have the same result.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And just from even now throwing the ball, how much
- 11:45Speaker 1: you have to cheat to throw the ball And you'll
- 11:49Speaker 1: do well if the ball is in your zone, A
- 11:50Speaker 1: high fastball will you do anytime. But if that ball
- 11:53Speaker 1: is a little bit off, your throat is going to
- 11:55Speaker 1: go from a one ninety five to two h five
- 11:58Speaker 1: so the things are things that.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Are kind of.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You know, kind of damage that happens because we're so
- 12:10Speaker 1: focused on getting that low pitch. My perspective is we
- 12:14Speaker 1: can do it all, and we need to do it all.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So I'd love to see catchers get more conventional, still
- 12:19Speaker 1: get that low pitch called to strike. But I have
- 12:24Speaker 1: a mobility to block, to throw the field a bunt
- 12:28Speaker 1: in front of the plate as as as you need to.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Well, I think that's perfect.
- 12:34Speaker 4: I do wonder, you know, as the game progresses, will
- 12:37Speaker 4: have the abs challenge and whatnot. Maybe we'll see if
- 12:41Speaker 4: you know that trend shifts or you have limited challenges.
- 12:45Speaker 4: So I assume it will still remain to some degree,
- 12:48Speaker 4: but well, we'll have to monitor that as it goes.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Maybe I got to talk to Hank huh call.
- 12:56Speaker 2: His number still works this morning?
- 13:00Speaker 4: Yeah, up a little bit. He needs it. He needs it.
- 13:06Speaker 4: One other last thing, you know from me. A couple
- 13:10Speaker 4: of years ago, I got to a company, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 4: a fellow player with a lesson with Craig Wallenbrock, who's
- 13:18Speaker 4: gotten a lot of publicity and notoriety. But uh, you know,
- 13:22Speaker 4: he's a big proponent and maybe the first at least that,
- 13:26Speaker 4: you know, for a guy my age on hitting the
- 13:29Speaker 4: ball in the air more he was he felt like
- 13:31Speaker 4: that that was the right approach, and he alluded he's
- 13:34Speaker 4: a great storyteller.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I'm not gonna do this justice, but you know, he
- 13:37Speaker 2: did a good job.
- 13:38Speaker 4: But I guess you guys used to hold a summit
- 13:40Speaker 4: or a conference or something, and he said that you
- 13:43Speaker 4: and him maybe didn't always agree on hitting philosophies. I
- 13:49Speaker 4: know you used to advocate for us that now you
- 13:53Speaker 4: didn't want guys to hit ground balls. But I think
- 13:56Speaker 4: maybe more of a Mike Schmidt philosophy of you know,
- 13:59Speaker 4: line drives that will turn into two more as opposed to,
- 14:03Speaker 4: you know, being all right with an infield pop up,
- 14:05Speaker 4: which is not a very competitive at bat sometimes.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I love Craig and he's very, very knowledgeable hitting.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And that's the one thing I think we had a
- 14:15Speaker 1: little discourse with was the fact that I'm great for
- 14:19Speaker 1: hitting the ball in the air. I'm great for Mark
- 14:22Speaker 1: Trumple hitting the ball in the air. I'm great for
- 14:24Speaker 1: Bla Guerrero, Tory Hunter, Albert Poojos hitting the ball in
- 14:27Speaker 1: the air. I'm not real fan of David Exstein, hitting
- 14:30Speaker 1: the ball in the air, not real fan of of.
- 14:34Speaker 1: You know some other players that that are around of
- 14:38Speaker 1: hitting the ball in the air that aren't going to
- 14:40Speaker 1: have the same results as those guys.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And I don't like.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I don't like the mechanical change to try to hit
- 14:46Speaker 1: the ball in the air of starting to dip early.
- 14:51Speaker 3: To get that little uppercut going.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And as I've listened to some of the best hitters
- 14:56Speaker 1: ever in the batter's box, I've already talked about La
- 14:58Speaker 1: Guerrero and Tory Hunter, they were very flat through the
- 15:03Speaker 1: zone and as they got that ball out in front,
- 15:08Speaker 1: that that little lift would happen naturally. Now I look
- 15:11Speaker 1: at your swing Trump, I look at if they throw
- 15:13Speaker 1: you a little high fastball, you were level through it,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and if you got out in front, that ball took off.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And I think that's the the I think that's the
- 15:23Speaker 1: the issue I had and have with with getting the
- 15:27Speaker 1: ball in the air is, you know, not every players
- 15:31Speaker 1: built to do what a lot of a lot of
- 15:34Speaker 1: guys are trying to do. And and I think there's
- 15:38Speaker 1: a there's a way to do it outside of trying
- 15:43Speaker 1: to get this huge upper cut which has which has
- 15:47Speaker 1: created big swing and miss zones in the upper part
- 15:51Speaker 1: of the zone that shouldn't be there. So that that
- 15:54Speaker 1: that's why I feel about that. But as far as
- 15:57Speaker 1: what what Craig talks about has bout the balance and
- 16:00Speaker 1: his prills, he's as good as I've been around.
- 16:04Speaker 3: The one thing was just.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Trying to mechanically alter your swing to get the ball
- 16:09Speaker 1: in the air is something I'm not a fan of.
- 16:12Speaker 5: All Right, Mike, we're going to end the show with
- 16:14Speaker 5: a little lightning round. We'd like you to give preferably
- 16:17Speaker 5: brief answers to a couple of quick questions. Toughest pitcher
- 16:22Speaker 5: to take out of a game?
- 16:25Speaker 3: John Lockey, shocker.
- 16:28Speaker 5: And why was that brief second? Were they cut from
- 16:34Speaker 5: the same cloth in that way?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Oh?
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, they were competitors and I loved it. Those guys
- 16:39Speaker 1: never wanted to come out and that's what that's you know,
- 16:42Speaker 1: it just made him so good too.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Most violent home plate collision you've.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Ever had, Jillie Davis.
- 16:49Speaker 5: M tell us about that one.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Jillie Davis when he was young, was you know, six
- 16:54Speaker 1: two two thirty five and could fly and basically the
- 16:59Speaker 1: center field owner I got the ball just as he
- 17:02Speaker 1: got his lean and man, he knocked me back somehow
- 17:06Speaker 1: ball stayed in my glove and uh uh Jilli hurt
- 17:11Speaker 1: his shoulder and uh, I saw stars.
- 17:14Speaker 3: But there was no concussion protocol then.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So you just walk back to the dugout and you
- 17:22Speaker 1: got ready for the next shitning.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Here's a little bit of a trick question. Favorite ice
- 17:29Speaker 5: cream shop in the Bay Area.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's a story that we drove the
- 17:36Speaker 1: whole team through for ice cream. I told these guys,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I said, look, if you guys win, we win. We win,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you know, we win the series. Here up in Oakland,
- 17:46Speaker 1: I said, we're going to take this team bus on
- 17:48Speaker 1: the way back to the airport. We're going to take you
- 17:50Speaker 1: off of ice cream. And I don't even remember the
- 17:54Speaker 1: name of a Trump do you remember.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I didn't know where we were.
- 17:59Speaker 4: I looked up and what is this And we're in
- 18:02Speaker 4: the hills of Oakland and getting ice cream.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 1: They came home with all these milkshakes and Sundays and
- 18:11Speaker 1: I just felt it was like, you know, these guys
- 18:13Speaker 1: that played hard. Uh, some of them wanted to get
- 18:15Speaker 1: back because they had the they had their fantasy draft
- 18:18Speaker 1: that night.
- 18:19Speaker 3: But but it was it was great. I mean the
- 18:21Speaker 3: guys got ice cream.
- 18:23Speaker 1: They you know, they won a game and we just
- 18:25Speaker 1: went a little we went little league on them and
- 18:27Speaker 1: they enjoyed it.
- 18:29Speaker 2: That's fine, It was great, great memory.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Yeah, toughest player you ever managed? And why.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Toughest player ever managed? I think there's there, there's on
- 18:41Speaker 1: both ends. There's players that are that are that are tough,
- 18:44Speaker 1: that are disruptive, and you've got to you know, you've
- 18:46Speaker 1: got to stay on them and you've got to do anything.
- 18:48Speaker 1: And one of the guys who actually I've gotten along
- 18:53Speaker 1: with well and he apologized, and jose Gan he apologized
- 18:58Speaker 1: for some of the things he did as he moved
- 19:00Speaker 1: on with teams, and you know, we we had a
- 19:02Speaker 1: lot of we had a number of long conversations on it.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And then you get the other end of it, a
- 19:09Speaker 1: guy like Darren Nurstad who never wanted to take a
- 19:12Speaker 1: day off, never wanted to to play at any level
- 19:15Speaker 1: outside of one percent. Uh. And so they're they're they're
- 19:19Speaker 1: they're tougher in a different way. You know, obviously that's
- 19:21Speaker 1: a better situation to handle. But it's not always the
- 19:25Speaker 1: guy that you would think that would be the guy
- 19:27Speaker 1: that would be uh, you know, difficult to manage.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Favorite postgame meal, all of them.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I got, uh, you know, after that game.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And even though it wasn't physically there was there was
- 19:43Speaker 1: a little bit of wood burning here. So you get,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you get, you know, you get, you get hungry. But
- 19:49Speaker 1: I mean it depends on where you were. One of
- 19:51Speaker 1: them is in is In where they bring the Mexican
- 19:55Speaker 1: food in the last day in Oakland, and they had
- 19:58Speaker 1: these they had these uh, these burritos and these I
- 20:02Speaker 1: mean it was like they were like silk going down.
- 20:05Speaker 3: So but you know, the foods could.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Best financial Sorry how he was always peppering you with questions.
- 20:14Speaker 4: I don't I don't know what that was about. Howie Kendrick,
- 20:17Speaker 4: Oh how I know?
- 20:18Speaker 1: All yeah, how all the time was yeah, I.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Might best financial advice you could give to young players.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Pay yourself first, meaning it's easy to go out and
- 20:33Speaker 1: pay the car dealership for that car, or or you know,
- 20:39Speaker 1: buy that piece of jewelry or buy this or that.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think if you pay yourself first, it's less not
- 20:44Speaker 1: a long long time ago. You're gonna be set for
- 20:48Speaker 1: you should be set for your life. And so as
- 20:51Speaker 1: young players, you know, you never know when that you know,
- 20:56Speaker 1: when that great flow of money might be halted or diminished.
- 21:00Speaker 1: So when you get it, just make sure you're paying
- 21:02Speaker 1: yourself first, putting it away, investing it to get that
- 21:07Speaker 1: get that mother load of money that will get you through.
- 21:11Speaker 1: If if you're kind, your your sir at your career
- 21:14Speaker 1: goes different way.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Might be hard to only pick one, but favorite spring
- 21:19Speaker 5: training clubhouse meeting or prank.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Oh man, I think Trump was on a couple.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Of those, right, he bows his head in shame.
- 21:33Speaker 1: The best prank. Uh, Well, we had some great meetings.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I mean, you know, when Shovinatani came in. We we
- 21:41Speaker 1: had we had a game where we had some Japanese
- 21:45Speaker 1: yen dollars, we had money from Mexico. We had all
- 21:49Speaker 1: this money up and in fact, Taylor Warded was just
- 21:54Speaker 1: barely coming up and he had to pick just cold
- 21:59Speaker 1: turk without which pile he wanted.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I think he picked the end and tv about six dollars.
- 22:07Speaker 3: It was like a piece and.
- 22:09Speaker 1: The other one were like, you know, about a couple
- 22:11Speaker 1: of hundred bucks. So, uh, you know, things like that
- 22:14Speaker 1: are funny, but the best ones. We sent the guys
- 22:18Speaker 1: out to the fair out in uh the medieval fair
- 22:24Speaker 1: that was out and I almost say Chandler.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Was, I don't know, we want that old riggs.
- 22:30Speaker 1: No you weren't there, of course of course I was.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Butterfly Festival, they brought back a video that was hilarious.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Days I still left thinking about it and it was
- 22:44Speaker 1: I didn't know you were all out of that.
- 22:46Speaker 4: No there, I think you you You sent multiple groups out.
- 22:49Speaker 4: We had one that we covered a little differently. I
- 22:51Speaker 4: think we brought the entertainment in house, but I think
- 22:54Speaker 4: the other one, yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 1: We had we we had a real quick when we
- 23:01Speaker 1: had the Ostrich come in from Jared Wasasburn brought the
- 23:04Speaker 1: Ostrich into the into our clubhouse. And I'm not kidding you,
- 23:08Speaker 1: Ramon or Teas. He jumped out how he got there,
- 23:11Speaker 1: jumped on top of the locker. He climbed it like
- 23:13Speaker 1: he was climbing a tree and got up on the
- 23:15Speaker 1: locker and he's saying in Spanish, get that big chicken.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Out of here and Poland right.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Right, and he was. He was actually sweating and shaking.
- 23:30Speaker 3: That was that was something the best.
- 23:32Speaker 5: All right, Well that'll do it for this edition of
