- 0:37Speaker 1: to you, but you're gonna host with us too. Is
- 0:38Speaker 1: that okay? Yeah, we're gonna get into some ship alright,
- 0:42Speaker 1: especially yokay, okay, alright. Congratulations to tennis champion Naomi Osaka.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Did I say your name right? All right? She expecting
- 0:55Speaker 1: her first child with her long term boyfriend, long time
- 0:58Speaker 1: boyfriend rapper corps day and we get some snaps for that.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I love that. Let's me tell you. They look like
- 1:04Speaker 1: the perfectly like odd but amazing couple. Like I never
- 1:10Speaker 1: saw it coming, but when I discovered that it was
- 1:13Speaker 1: a thing, I was like, you know what, I can
- 1:15Speaker 1: see it and it makes sense. I feel like they
- 1:18Speaker 1: pushed each other, like with their fashion, I ain't never
- 1:20Speaker 1: seen it, and we dressed the way that she dresses now,
- 1:23Speaker 1: Like I love them as a couple. I can't wait
- 1:25Speaker 1: to see this baby. They's gonna be so cute. Apologize
- 1:28Speaker 1: to making the Stallion. I'm gonna apologize to making Um.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I said some things, but it was because on social
- 1:37Speaker 1: media I posted things that when she said, uh, she
- 1:41Speaker 1: was with Gail and she said that. Uh. She said,
- 1:45Speaker 1: were you intimate Tory Lanes? And she said, uh what?
- 1:50Speaker 1: And then it was like, no, I like, God, she lying.
- 1:54Speaker 1: At that point I knew she was. She's like, it
- 1:57Speaker 1: wouldn't be no reason for me to be around each other.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And then, um, from now if it felt like she
- 2:04Speaker 1: was lying to me, you know what I'm saying. So
- 2:06Speaker 1: I was like, little things will pop up, and I
- 2:08Speaker 1: wasn't being supportive of it. You were a little more vocal. Yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 1: And the only reason why I feel like, you know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: at some point you should apologize. I should apologize to
- 2:18Speaker 1: us because um, when I heard uh the phone conversation
- 2:24Speaker 1: that that made me feel like, oh, now I know
- 2:27Speaker 1: what what happened. That was a good day with the apologizes.
- 2:30Speaker 1: What are you gonna learn to stop being so mean? No,
- 2:32Speaker 1: like we're talking about to apologize when you were so
- 2:35Speaker 1: insensitive this whole time because the people love it. I
- 2:39Speaker 1: feel like in the Megan situation. He really did what
- 2:41Speaker 1: a lot of people are doing. The differences that he
- 2:43Speaker 1: has a big, old platform and it's very dangerous for
- 2:47Speaker 1: him to say certain things without having facts. But he
- 2:50Speaker 1: did say that once he listened to the call, it
- 2:52Speaker 1: all made sense. And I think that kind of is
- 2:54Speaker 1: what happened to everybody. Everyone heard that call, and he
- 2:56Speaker 1: was like, oh, toor I did it. I never did it?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Did you? Did you up with the with the whole
- 3:01Speaker 1: megana stallion from the top, I mean from the top.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I thought Tory did it. I don't without any evidence.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's like he didn't, you know? Um, So I'm glad.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I was glad. I was right. Alright, Gonna, it seems
- 3:16Speaker 1: like it's a y cell civil war going on. Una
- 3:18Speaker 1: breaks his silence. Uh. This past Tuesday, Gonna made his
- 3:22Speaker 1: official return to social media that you gotta see Gunna's post.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I did. And let me just say, if Gunna was
- 3:30Speaker 1: gonna come back outside, if he was gonna give us
- 3:33Speaker 1: some music, everybody was like, so you're worried about the
- 3:36Speaker 1: wrong thing. He ain't thinking about that. Yes he is.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I was right, gonna have some speakers. He had a microphone.
- 3:42Speaker 1: That man is recording right now. He's going back to
- 3:44Speaker 1: what he loves. I don't care if it's a good
- 3:46Speaker 1: idea or not. I'm just saying what he's doing. It
- 3:48Speaker 1: ain't my business if it's a good idea or not.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm just saying, this is what he's doing. And I
- 3:53Speaker 1: don't know what it's for. Is it to prove that
- 3:55Speaker 1: yre cell is a label? I don't know. I don't know,
- 3:59Speaker 1: but the man it's outside. So y'all owe me on
- 4:01Speaker 1: apology something that is a little fishy, because I do
- 4:04Speaker 1: think I don't know for sure what's going on because
- 4:09Speaker 1: I see other people in Atlanta not co signing or
- 4:12Speaker 1: not saying anything. Nobody's seeing anything. Did you notice that
- 4:16Speaker 1: nobody said welcome home to gun Did you notice that
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm talking about a rap contemporary Nobody said welcome home. Nobody, nobody.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They want to stand clear, and he has like the
- 4:30Speaker 1: welcome committee, which is kind of crazy that he didn't
- 4:32Speaker 1: say nothing like you know, damn, it's a y Sell
- 4:37Speaker 1: civil war going on. I'm just letting you out know
- 4:39Speaker 1: it's something as a war going on in between you.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I don't know we're gonna get to the bottom U
- 4:43Speaker 1: because it's gonna It's gonna reveal itself at a later day.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Speaking to why I sell a juror in uh young thugs,
- 4:51Speaker 1: why I sell trial? Skipped on jury due to go
- 4:54Speaker 1: on vacation. You have to get that bl You don't
- 4:57Speaker 1: get that depositive back. You do not get that depinds
- 5:00Speaker 1: it back. Wow, she went to the Dominican Republican. You're
- 5:03Speaker 1: probably want to get a teeth done or bbl You
- 5:06Speaker 1: get BBLS and dominic it all. Yes, I'm not saying
- 5:11Speaker 1: that for a factor all. I'm just teasing. But do
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know people who get BBLS what? I don't know
- 5:17Speaker 1: anyone that has personally. I think Domenica Republic is when
- 5:22Speaker 1: you get your teeth did and they're doing it all.
- 5:28Speaker 1: They're doing it all, don't they do it in America?
- 5:30Speaker 1: It might be botched, but they're getting it done. Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 1: The jury, the jury duty is not going and how
- 5:35Speaker 1: it's supposed to go. So people are skipping out and
- 5:38Speaker 1: going to Dominican Republic. That's why sales ship is all
- 5:41Speaker 1: the change. What are the repercussions if you skip out
- 5:43Speaker 1: on jury duty? Like what's happen? You can find you
- 5:46Speaker 1: can find and go to jail. Well, the judge is
- 5:48Speaker 1: not holding her in contempt, like, he's actually making her right.
- 5:51Speaker 1: A thirty page essay on why jury duty is a
- 5:54Speaker 1: service and how it's a privilege for black people to
- 5:56Speaker 1: even be jurors because we were not allowed to be
- 5:59Speaker 1: that for are So he's yeah, he's making her right
- 6:02Speaker 1: an entire essay. He's like, I'm assuming she's a black woman, obviously,
- 6:05Speaker 1: because I said we were not. You know, we didn't
- 6:07Speaker 1: have the privilege of being on jury duty before. So
- 6:10Speaker 1: I like this route. He's like, you know what, I
- 6:13Speaker 1: want you to educate yourself. Yes, I can throw you
- 6:15Speaker 1: in jail, but I'd rather you get the education. So
- 6:17Speaker 1: I like that. Don't play with it. Don't play with
- 6:19Speaker 1: your else. Okay, you don't play with it. Uh? Do
- 6:22Speaker 1: you guys fly outside of Delta because Southwest announces a
- 6:26Speaker 1: forty nine dollar fair sale as airline recovers from his
- 6:30Speaker 1: holiday meltdown. You guys flying Southwest? Some of them people
- 6:33Speaker 1: from Southwest? Bag that's still here New Year's Like that
- 6:38Speaker 1: was crazy. I do not like Southwest. I think that's
- 6:41Speaker 1: the airline where you pick your own seat. Have you
- 6:45Speaker 1: flown that before? The second Southwest It wasn't that man.
- 6:48Speaker 1: What I would never do, though, is like check a bag.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I feel like Southwest you kind of got to treat
- 6:52Speaker 1: it a little bit like spirit. You want to travel
- 6:54Speaker 1: super light, just have a carry on bag. Don't expect
- 6:56Speaker 1: nothing to hop on your flife because you get a
- 6:59Speaker 1: fresh back from a Southwest right, you get took. That's
- 7:05Speaker 1: why they're losing the bads too many bad spirit before.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Don't I have I definitely have. I I have to
- 7:12Speaker 1: be a long time, but I have been a long
- 7:13Speaker 1: time many times. You want to hear her when I
- 7:17Speaker 1: got when I ain't hand no bread, I flu that
- 7:18Speaker 1: was that was my airline. Because don't you have for
- 7:24Speaker 1: like every single thing for your carry on and your
- 7:29Speaker 1: carry on, the carry on, there's no repression when you booked.
- 7:34Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying with Nam, what you're gonna do?
- 7:36Speaker 1: You gotta have at least a carry on, but you
- 7:38Speaker 1: pay for the carry on. You even have to pay
- 7:39Speaker 1: to print your boarding pass. Did y'all know that? A
- 7:43Speaker 1: five dollar charge? That sounds recent? Have you been there recently? No?
- 7:46Speaker 1: This is I'm hoping. I'm hoping that they don't have
- 7:49Speaker 1: to print boarding passes anymore. It's just a cure, calling
- 7:52Speaker 1: your damn phone. But lord, no, it passed. I saw
- 7:55Speaker 1: a joke on about the Spirit airline. She said, you
- 7:57Speaker 1: gotta pay for the air. You gotta pay the one
- 7:59Speaker 1: say you got there. We have a mutual friend Ferrari
- 8:03Speaker 1: who is very well off that literally takes Spirit quite often.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I was really mad at my daddy took Spirit. Uh
- 8:09Speaker 1: when he came to Paris. Why are you taking Spirit?
- 8:12Speaker 1: As long as you get there sixty dollars? I was like,
- 8:16Speaker 1: number one. They are consistent. They was. They were tripping
- 8:19Speaker 1: a little bit over last year, a little bit, but
- 8:22Speaker 1: you know, everybody was trying to get that money back.
- 8:24Speaker 1: In blood, we'll speaking to back in blood. Lloyd Harvey
- 8:28Speaker 1: that she dated a father and a son, full blown
- 8:31Speaker 1: stories I've heard. I've dated a father and son before.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Absolutely true. She is the male future, she's the female future.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You always say that she's definitely the female future. Do
- 8:42Speaker 1: you understand what he's saying about that? Like, does it
- 8:44Speaker 1: make sense? I would definitely want contact if you don't
- 8:48Speaker 1: give a damn. She's doing her and it's about her.
- 8:51Speaker 1: It is what it is. But but isn't that what
- 8:55Speaker 1: future doing? He just you know IM pregnant even because
- 9:00Speaker 1: that doesn't sound like a bad thing. Yeah, not a
- 9:03Speaker 1: bad thing. That's why. That's why I said, what future
- 9:05Speaker 1: does is not a bad thing exactly. Acting like a woman,
- 9:09Speaker 1: thinking like a man, I got the name of her.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Do you think she's thinking like a man or she's
- 9:14Speaker 1: just thinking like a woman. I think she's thinking like
- 9:17Speaker 1: a young successful woman who has access to people who
- 9:20Speaker 1: was also outside of the access, who was confident and
- 9:23Speaker 1: who she is. She feels sexy, she's very feminine like
- 9:26Speaker 1: I just think she's in her soft era and she's
- 9:30Speaker 1: allowing herself to date people that make her feel good.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And I don't believe that she dated he and his son,
- 9:35Speaker 1: that's what they were talking about. She said, no, I
- 9:39Speaker 1: never dated a father and son. Alright, cool, when we
- 9:42Speaker 1: come back, we're gonna talk to Dondrea and get all
- 9:45Speaker 1: in her bears now right on the ball the Show Podcast.
- 9:48Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more of the Baller Alert Show.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Still listening to a special edition of The ball Or
- 10:00Speaker 1: Alert Show. What's up, y'all? It is your girl Dandrea
- 10:02Speaker 1: and I'm chilling with the Baller Alert Show. Available wherever
- 10:06Speaker 1: you get your podcast for me and we're back with
- 10:16Speaker 1: the Ball of Show podcast, available week wherever you get
- 10:18Speaker 1: your podcast. Dandrea is in the building house borne my
- 10:21Speaker 1: sister from another mister, my sister in law. Well, how
- 10:26Speaker 1: are you good? It's good to have you. Gentlemen that
- 10:29Speaker 1: I know pretty closely sent me a link to your song.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I bought it by the way to your project, um,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and it sounded really really good. And we had we
- 10:37Speaker 1: had these conversations often, and great mind started like, you
- 10:42Speaker 1: know what we need to bring her up here to
- 10:44Speaker 1: the Ball of the Show podcast. Thank you glad to
- 10:48Speaker 1: be here all right? Where where have you been traight
- 10:52Speaker 1: to it? Okay? Um, well, I mean, first of all,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I ain't went nowhere. I've been working, I've been recording,
- 11:00Speaker 1: I've been putting out music. However, there has been five years,
- 11:05Speaker 1: um from my last ep and to this one, and
- 11:08Speaker 1: I think I've just been growing up, you know, becoming
- 11:11Speaker 1: a woman. I started really really young nineteen signed to
- 11:16Speaker 1: the right out signal was you're the one for me?
- 11:19Speaker 1: Run That was myself. I still till this day you
- 11:24Speaker 1: were looking at me. I thought it was a duet
- 11:26Speaker 1: between us. I appreciated the harmony, though I was signed
- 11:31Speaker 1: that nineteen. Yeah, so you had just not too long
- 11:34Speaker 1: graduated high school. Yeah. Um. And so just being a
- 11:39Speaker 1: young woman in the industry. Now, granted, I'm very grateful
- 11:43Speaker 1: for I guess the infrastructure that I had that so
- 11:46Speaker 1: so deaf, but but um, not no, not like that.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But I just also did not have a sense of self.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Didn't really know what I wanted to sing about, what
- 11:58Speaker 1: I wanted to look like, didn't know any of that stuff.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So they were making those decisions for me. Um. And
- 12:05Speaker 1: for the most part, you know, looking back, I'm okay
- 12:08Speaker 1: with all the decisions that they made. Um, But at
- 12:11Speaker 1: some point I had to figure out, like what do
- 12:13Speaker 1: I actually like? You know, what do I I want
- 12:17Speaker 1: to talk about, What do I want to put out
- 12:18Speaker 1: into the universe, How I want to wear my hair,
- 12:19Speaker 1: what I want to wear like, you know, those types
- 12:21Speaker 1: of things. And um, that's where the hills and the
- 12:24Speaker 1: valleys came in. Um. Because I feel like the music
- 12:28Speaker 1: industry was my college I didn't finish. So yeah, that's fair.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I get that. I feel like a lot of artists
- 12:35Speaker 1: say that, you know, when they're first coming out, they're
- 12:36Speaker 1: being told who to be, what to be, how to act,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and you kind of get to the space of who
- 12:41Speaker 1: am I? What am I even doing? None of this
- 12:43Speaker 1: feels authentic, So it's nice to know that you took
- 12:45Speaker 1: some time to yourself to to grow into self. So
- 12:48Speaker 1: what made you want to get back to it? I
- 12:51Speaker 1: guess through the search of self and actually finding that. Um,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I just had stuff to talk about, you know, I
- 12:58Speaker 1: wanted to tell my story and let people know where
- 13:01Speaker 1: I've been and you know what's been going on. Went
- 13:04Speaker 1: through a breakup, um, broke up with some friends, you know,
- 13:08Speaker 1: fell into depression with the therapy, like all these things happen,
- 13:11Speaker 1: and the best way that I knew how to express
- 13:14Speaker 1: it was through song. So because it's not like, you know,
- 13:17Speaker 1: you fall out of love with making music. You just
- 13:21Speaker 1: weren't in the right, you know, situation to produce the
- 13:24Speaker 1: music that you wanted to put out. So and I
- 13:26Speaker 1: think it sounds better too when you have a little
- 13:28Speaker 1: bit more experience on the stool. Now I will say,
- 13:31Speaker 1: like I do have a song on the EP call
- 13:33Speaker 1: let It Be, and it's kind of like a love
- 13:35Speaker 1: song to music or to my career. I think there
- 13:38Speaker 1: was a space where I fell out of love. Um,
- 13:42Speaker 1: just because you know, coming in I'm a girl from
- 13:44Speaker 1: the suburbs. Okay, I everything was rainbows and butterflies. Which suburbs,
- 13:50Speaker 1: um Texas, sexy Texas, um, a little bit outside of Dallas.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So um So my expectation of how it was gonna
- 13:58Speaker 1: go um after things started to slow down a little bit,
- 14:03Speaker 1: I just didn't expect that. So, like a lot of
- 14:05Speaker 1: my sense of self and confidence and all that stuff
- 14:10Speaker 1: came from all the accolades and all of the praise.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So when it stopped, that kind of was like wait.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And that's where the finding myself came in because it
- 14:17Speaker 1: was like, Okay, who are you outside of like what
- 14:20Speaker 1: you do? You know? So that's the question I kind
- 14:24Speaker 1: of wanted to ask you because I'm a big mental
- 14:26Speaker 1: health person and overcoming transgression. So what you're saying that
- 14:32Speaker 1: you overcame was this in that five year gap? This
- 14:35Speaker 1: is the five year gap? Like what year is this?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Like what's happening? Um? So? I would say probably the
- 14:42Speaker 1: last five to seven years. Um. So I moved to
- 14:46Speaker 1: l A um just to kind of get a new atmosphere,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know, get a kind of new um motivation and
- 14:54Speaker 1: why why what made you move to l a or
- 14:57Speaker 1: who made you move to l AM. My manager at
- 14:59Speaker 1: the time, UM, he just I guess explained to me that, like,
- 15:05Speaker 1: you know, let's just try something new, you know, let's
- 15:07Speaker 1: go somewhere we haven't been and really try to get
- 15:11Speaker 1: a new market and meet some new people, new producers,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and just go for it. Yeah. Um, and I was down.
- 15:19Speaker 1: You know, I've always been the girl that jumps, you know,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I'm not really scared, you know, to like do the
- 15:26Speaker 1: hard stuff for whatever. So we went. But I ain't
- 15:30Speaker 1: hand no damn playing, you know. So that's like the
- 15:33Speaker 1: first mistake. Um and so right, So um, you know,
- 15:39Speaker 1: there was financial struggles and just there's a certain atmosphere
- 15:44Speaker 1: in l A a certain type of person individual that
- 15:49Speaker 1: is very pretentious and you know, making all the promises
- 15:53Speaker 1: all that kind of thing. So like though I didn't
- 15:56Speaker 1: really have anybody advocating for me, there, um, a lot
- 16:00Speaker 1: of situations happened the place where I was living. The
- 16:03Speaker 1: locks got changed on me, like just so many things
- 16:06Speaker 1: like back to back to back to back, and I
- 16:08Speaker 1: was just like, all right, now this cannot be what
- 16:13Speaker 1: is for me. So um, at that moment, I just
- 16:17Speaker 1: kind of I went within. You know, it sounds you know,
- 16:20Speaker 1: but I went within you know, Um, I got into therapy.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Um just too because I was suffering from anxiety. So
- 16:29Speaker 1: I really wanted to get to the bottom of that,
- 16:30Speaker 1: Like why am I so nervous to be in rooms?
- 16:34Speaker 1: And um yeah take up space when I when I
- 16:39Speaker 1: show up? So um yeah. That and and making the
- 16:43Speaker 1: decision to leave that manager and trust myself comes back
- 16:48Speaker 1: to a combat. Um and just trust that I know
- 16:51Speaker 1: what's best for me. How did you get out of
- 16:53Speaker 1: the or did your deal running always so so deaf?
- 16:55Speaker 1: For how did that happen? Like, I think we're skipping
- 16:58Speaker 1: that part. How did you get out that deal? Um? So,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I think this is the thing that I'm glad to
- 17:03Speaker 1: be able to share this go around because um so
- 17:09Speaker 1: when I first got signed, j D was at uh
- 17:13Speaker 1: where was we at? Def jam and um so it
- 17:17Speaker 1: was a major label situation, so so deaf deaf jam.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Um when he left, he took him with me and
- 17:24Speaker 1: actually that made me independent so um but we were
- 17:29Speaker 1: still working together, we were still trying to build you
- 17:32Speaker 1: know something, so really almost my whole career. But your
- 17:36Speaker 1: single was on def jam my, so you're the one.
- 17:42Speaker 1: It might have been on def jam or it might
- 17:43Speaker 1: have been on Malaco. UM. But we we was independent
- 17:47Speaker 1: like early early on UM. But a lot of people,
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, I don't know that. So after the success
- 17:54Speaker 1: of that, what ended up happening? UM, I just I
- 17:58Speaker 1: don't know. I guess because it was already an independent thing,
- 18:01Speaker 1: it was kind of just like, well, you know, I
- 18:03Speaker 1: think that we probably could have picked another single, second
- 18:06Speaker 1: single UM. And I think just at that time, a
- 18:12Speaker 1: little Black Girl being signed from YouTube was like not
- 18:15Speaker 1: a thing. So as exciting as it was, it wasn't
- 18:19Speaker 1: really a lot of people labels included that understood or
- 18:24Speaker 1: even like believed in the vision. They were like, we
- 18:27Speaker 1: don't get it. UM. So I think, I don't know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: lack of support UM and resources. I don't know. We
- 18:35Speaker 1: just kind of like went back to the drawing board,
- 18:37Speaker 1: but kind of stayed at the drawing board for a while.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Tour with that single or I did. Yeah, I went
- 18:43Speaker 1: on tour, the Passion, Pain and Pleasure tour with Trey
- 18:47Speaker 1: Songs and Monica, So that was a lot of fun. Yeah,
- 18:51Speaker 1: And I know we're kind of working backwards. Her. I
- 18:52Speaker 1: wish you started this way, but you said, uh, being
- 18:57Speaker 1: signed from YouTube, so you were YouTube. Sorry, Jady saw
- 19:00Speaker 1: you and then brought you to Atlanta. He discovered me,
- 19:04Speaker 1: and me and my mom came to meet him. And
- 19:07Speaker 1: it just happened to be the weekend that Jaggadesh was
- 19:10Speaker 1: releasing their album. Um you j album was this, This
- 19:14Speaker 1: was right out of Heaven. No, this was the album.
- 19:18Speaker 1: The first song on there is with Ashanti Uh and
- 19:23Speaker 1: it was the album. Um. So you know, I came
- 19:26Speaker 1: to Atlanta, got to meet them, and immediately it was
- 19:28Speaker 1: like welcome to the family, and we signed that contract
- 19:33Speaker 1: like real quickly. Meeting came. YEA moved to Atlanta. Yes,
- 19:36Speaker 1: he put you up and you just that's what I
- 19:38Speaker 1: want need. Um if it took very good care of me.
- 19:42Speaker 1: When I first came. Before I moved, I was staying
- 19:47Speaker 1: at the Intercontinental. Um, the maids, the housekeepers, they knew
- 19:52Speaker 1: me because every time they came to the room, Hey,
- 19:53Speaker 1: y'all because I didn't know, you know, I didn't know
- 19:55Speaker 1: where to go or anything, so I'd just be in
- 19:57Speaker 1: the room. Um. And then I guess after we decided
- 20:01Speaker 1: like okay, this is a thing, Um, I actually moved
- 20:03Speaker 1: in with j D. Yeah. So coming back to today, UM,
- 20:08Speaker 1: your new EP perspective Um, is that you're just solely
- 20:14Speaker 1: independent right now? No distribution anywhere. Yeah. Now, speaking of
- 20:19Speaker 1: the cover, somebody had no shot that cover. Uh, the
- 20:22Speaker 1: visuals have been visualizing and I see he post you
- 20:27Speaker 1: you post him. Who is this man in your life? Um?
- 20:31Speaker 1: You seem real happy and it's a light. A light
- 20:34Speaker 1: walked in when you walked in the studio. Yes, somebody
- 20:37Speaker 1: responsible for that light outside of Yes, I have an
- 20:40Speaker 1: amazing partner who goes by the name of rest Res Photography. Um,
- 20:46Speaker 1: he's amazing at what he does. And we just we
- 20:50Speaker 1: just clicked. We we've known each other two years prior
- 20:53Speaker 1: to getting together because we have the same trainer at
- 20:55Speaker 1: the gym and so, uh, he was plotting the whole
- 20:59Speaker 1: time up you know, and he shot a shot and
- 21:03Speaker 1: we just clicked. Yeah. We loves used to work at
- 21:10Speaker 1: Boston work for us. Yes, he was a photographer and
- 21:14Speaker 1: somebody over with us, you know, did I mean we
- 21:18Speaker 1: we are so proud of you and you are so
- 21:19Speaker 1: in love and it's just so cute and we love
- 21:23Speaker 1: this for you. You know how many links I got
- 21:25Speaker 1: on my phone about you and links of your stuff.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Now he goes hard. I appreciate him. What does that
- 21:33Speaker 1: feel like? Like, what does it feel like to have
- 21:36Speaker 1: a man that just genuinely like you guys do real stuff,
- 21:39Speaker 1: to work out together, you travel together. He's supporting your business,
- 21:43Speaker 1: You're supporting his. It just seems like your lives are
- 21:47Speaker 1: so intertwined and it seems effortless. It doesn't seem like,
- 21:50Speaker 1: you know, you guys are forcing each other to support
- 21:53Speaker 1: each other. So what does that feel like? Tell voll
- 21:56Speaker 1: Donation what it feels like what a black man loves you?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Correctly know? It feels great. You know. I came from
- 22:03Speaker 1: prior experiences where the support wasn't necessarily there definitely wasn't
- 22:08Speaker 1: like this um and but I think because I didn't
- 22:12Speaker 1: have anything to compare it to, I just thought it
- 22:17Speaker 1: was normal, like, oh, it's okay, you know if he
- 22:20Speaker 1: didn't want to come to a show, or like that's fine.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And I really didn't understand um until res as, I mean,
- 22:30Speaker 1: he shows up. He I could say so many things,
- 22:34Speaker 1: but he definitely showed me how like it's supposed to be.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I love that, really love you so perspective. What can
- 22:42Speaker 1: people expect? Is it out already or it dropped on
- 22:46Speaker 1: my birthday? Thank you Appercorn say, um, what can you expect?
- 22:57Speaker 1: I think that number one and something that I'm really
- 23:01Speaker 1: passionate about, at least for this project, is to kind
- 23:06Speaker 1: of give my take on traditional R and B. I
- 23:10Speaker 1: won't say that it's sounds nineties or two thousands or anything,
- 23:13Speaker 1: but definitely the essence of um, authentic traditional R and B.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I got songs on there that are gonna make you
- 23:21Speaker 1: feel something like one of the songs that's doing so
- 23:24Speaker 1: well um is a ballad, you know, and I have
- 23:28Speaker 1: other fun stuff on there too, but they're going to
- 23:31Speaker 1: be in their feelings, you know we're talking about you
- 23:33Speaker 1: need that because you know, there ain't too many real
- 23:35Speaker 1: singers out no more. The years of the ballots to
- 23:40Speaker 1: me were like nineties, early thousands, you know, that's when
- 23:44Speaker 1: ballot was really in. But you know after that it
- 23:46Speaker 1: was kind of like you know, hip hop R and
- 23:48Speaker 1: B and right. But now, you know, taking it back
- 23:51Speaker 1: that way, I think people appreciate it more. And that's
- 23:55Speaker 1: money came in people hours and hours because that was
- 23:59Speaker 1: like a birth of fresh air. So who's also a
- 24:01Speaker 1: YouTube originals? Yeah? I love that. I think it's not
- 24:08Speaker 1: even just the valid portion of it, but the context
- 24:11Speaker 1: of the valid like like what you are saying. We
- 24:15Speaker 1: were talking about Sissior recently and how you know, I
- 24:17Speaker 1: complimented how she's always able to vocalize what I think
- 24:20Speaker 1: so many people can't. So I think that's what we
- 24:23Speaker 1: love about the traditional R and B ballads, like the context.
- 24:27Speaker 1: So thank you, thank you. What's your favorite song off EP?
- 24:33Speaker 1: The one about um so okay, I have to say
- 24:38Speaker 1: it's a tie, and I say that that's okay. So
- 24:41Speaker 1: the first song is let it Be, and I just
- 24:44Speaker 1: feel like that's the anthem. It's kind of like the
- 24:46Speaker 1: spokesperson of this EP. It's the reintroduction. Um, you know
- 24:51Speaker 1: that's that's the song. That's the love song to music,
- 24:53Speaker 1: to my career, and it talks about the mistakes I've made,
- 24:56Speaker 1: the mistakes the music industry is made, um, but how
- 25:00Speaker 1: we belong together. So let's like just do it right
- 25:02Speaker 1: this time? Pretty much? Um. So I think that's the
- 25:07Speaker 1: the billboard of the EP. But UM, I also really
- 25:10Speaker 1: love Lose Myself. UM. It was written based off of
- 25:17Speaker 1: relationships that I had to let go of, romantic and
- 25:20Speaker 1: friend wise. UM. And it's basically just saying like if
- 25:24Speaker 1: I if I gotta lose something. It's gonna be you,
- 25:26Speaker 1: because I'm not gonna lose myself. Um, and so I
- 25:29Speaker 1: think that that's one of my favorites too. Well, it's
- 25:33Speaker 1: a lot of legwork going into doing promoting your album,
- 25:38Speaker 1: trying to get sold and all that stuff, but you
- 25:40Speaker 1: don't have a machine behind you. So, like, you know,
- 25:44Speaker 1: what is your plans to you know, make this perspective
- 25:47Speaker 1: of success, you know, without having that big machine behind you. Um. Honestly,
- 25:53Speaker 1: I am okay with the slow grind. Um, I'm gonna
- 25:59Speaker 1: do I feel like what got me here in the
- 26:02Speaker 1: first place when I was on YouTube. I'm going to
- 26:04Speaker 1: be authentic. I'm going to be consistent. Um, And I'm
- 26:08Speaker 1: just that's it, you know. Um, it's already done some
- 26:13Speaker 1: amazing things. Um. Some of the songs have dropped last
- 26:17Speaker 1: year and even one of the songs dropped in twenty nineteen.
- 26:20Speaker 1: So um, let it Be has been placed on um
- 26:26Speaker 1: show Harlem that's on Amazon, and so all of this
- 26:29Speaker 1: stuff is just happening, you know. And so I'm just
- 26:33Speaker 1: going to be authentic and be consistent because I know
- 26:36Speaker 1: consistency it's like an important component. Yeah, do you still
- 26:39Speaker 1: do YouTube or I like those covers. Can we get
- 26:43Speaker 1: Can we get some more consistent covers? Man? Can we
- 26:46Speaker 1: get like every other week or something like? I am yes,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I'm going back to my roots, um, because that's those
- 26:52Speaker 1: covers of fire. Like when you do those covers, add
- 26:55Speaker 1: your own little touch to it, like yours. But I
- 26:58Speaker 1: was only asking about YouTube because know you have like
- 27:00Speaker 1: the Queen Najes and um, a lot of these artists
- 27:04Speaker 1: who come from YouTube and stuff like that, and you know,
- 27:07Speaker 1: they made their bones doing YouTube and then they become
- 27:11Speaker 1: stars after the fact. So that's why I was asking
- 27:13Speaker 1: about YouTube. I thinking that helps people connect with the
- 27:16Speaker 1: artists a little more too, Like there are some people
- 27:19Speaker 1: who the music is just not enough. They want to
- 27:22Speaker 1: know who you are personally, how you move, how you
- 27:24Speaker 1: digest information, what you share. So um I And obviously
- 27:29Speaker 1: it's an avenue. You know, YouTube is a platform, it's
- 27:32Speaker 1: another revenue stream. So UM do your fans like that
- 27:35Speaker 1: You're in a relationship because you know some some fans
- 27:37Speaker 1: don't like it. They love it. They love it. They
- 27:40Speaker 1: have UM really witnessed the transformation of from when I
- 27:45Speaker 1: started to now, and so they're they're here for all
- 27:47Speaker 1: the vibes, they're like, okay you. Some guys get to
- 27:50Speaker 1: be like, oh man, she's posting them again, or even women.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Women will be like, oh, I don't want my favorite
- 27:57Speaker 1: artists to get into a healthy relationship. I want you
- 27:59Speaker 1: to sing about heartbreaks and headaches all day. They love
- 28:04Speaker 1: fat fat, so they ride. Yeah that's true. Yeah. My
- 28:12Speaker 1: YouTube name like Riandrea dandriusdus. It sounds like a mix tape.
- 28:27Speaker 1: We're so proud of your growth, Ydria. You know, any
- 28:30Speaker 1: time you need us, feel free to come on. Yea,
- 28:34Speaker 1: thank you? All right? Can we can we have her
- 28:37Speaker 1: participant in Ballermel though, Yes, let's get it. We'll be
- 28:41Speaker 1: right back. Stay tuned with more of The Baller Alert Show.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Still listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
- 28:52Speaker 1: What's up y'all? It is your girl Dandrea, and I'm
- 28:55Speaker 1: chilling with the Baller Alert Show, available wherever you get
- 28:58Speaker 1: your podcast. It is time for ball or mail. Dear
- 29:04Speaker 1: ball Alert Man, what's up, y'all? I've been dealing with
- 29:08Speaker 1: my little shouting for about two years, and it's something
- 29:11Speaker 1: that's been bothering me about her. Her best friend is
- 29:13Speaker 1: a dude and he's my biggest hater. I hate him
- 29:17Speaker 1: and he hates me. For Christmas, I about her out
- 29:19Speaker 1: on date night and her ass brought him on date
- 29:24Speaker 1: night because we went bowling. Now, I'm not threatened by
- 29:27Speaker 1: him because he doesn't like girls, but he's annoying as fuck.
- 29:30Speaker 1: And at this point it's either him of me. How
- 29:33Speaker 1: should I express this to my lady in a nice way? Okay,
- 29:37Speaker 1: definitely finds a way to express it. Don't hold that
- 29:40Speaker 1: in and be resenting her. Um, I think the way
- 29:43Speaker 1: to do it. Um, they've been together for two years.
- 29:48Speaker 1: First of all, does he has intentions on getting married
- 29:52Speaker 1: or something? And he called a little shouting you know
- 29:57Speaker 1: that's that's for me? Hey, How to say that? Um? Hey,
- 30:06Speaker 1: you know I love you and you know we've been
- 30:09Speaker 1: building and I look forward to you know, many many more.
- 30:12Speaker 1: But I think some changes needs to be made. Um.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I don't know what their friends, I don't know. He
- 30:21Speaker 1: strikes me as as a man that that would say, hey,
- 30:23Speaker 1: little shouters, I don't like your homeboy. And he may
- 30:28Speaker 1: even be a little more vulgar than that. You know,
- 30:30Speaker 1: he may throw his sexuality in there. He's a hater.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I don't like him and if you want to be
- 30:34Speaker 1: with me, then he gotta go. Like, I don't see
- 30:37Speaker 1: him being as you know, politically correct, he said. First
- 30:44Speaker 1: of all, he has to feel what he feels. If
- 30:45Speaker 1: he really feels like you know, this person is getting
- 30:48Speaker 1: in the way of our relationship, he's a hater. He's
- 30:50Speaker 1: you're probably calling him a hater because maybe he gives
- 30:53Speaker 1: his homegirl insight. That's the dumb things that you probably do.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Maybe he's seen you outside doing stupid stuff and he's
- 30:59Speaker 1: telling his home girl, So that's probably the only reason
- 31:02Speaker 1: you're calling him a hater. Secondly, you might be offended
- 31:05Speaker 1: by his sexuality. Maybe that's something some people feel like,
- 31:08Speaker 1: you know, gay men are too flamboyant or whatever the cases,
- 31:12Speaker 1: and it's hard for them to deal with. Find out
- 31:14Speaker 1: why you really feel the way that you feel. That's
- 31:16Speaker 1: number one. Number two, If you still have a problem
- 31:19Speaker 1: with it at the end of it, just go to
- 31:21Speaker 1: your little shouting and tell her and she will make
- 31:24Speaker 1: a decision. I mean, I I have some guy friends,
- 31:28Speaker 1: and like even when we started to get more serious,
- 31:30Speaker 1: I feel like those things naturally shifted, Like there wasn't
- 31:34Speaker 1: there didn't have to be a conversation because there was
- 31:36Speaker 1: just a respect. So it might be both of them
- 31:40Speaker 1: best friend and oh boy got something. Kay, well let
- 31:47Speaker 1: me look at the camera. He ain't ship, playboy, and
- 31:50Speaker 1: oh boy found that he ain't ship, so that why
- 31:53Speaker 1: he on your top players. How about you get yourself
- 31:56Speaker 1: a business and start treating your lady a little better
- 31:58Speaker 1: and he probably gonna be big his fan because he
- 32:01Speaker 1: realized and you ain't worth a damn and she can
- 32:05Speaker 1: do better than you. So that's why he hating on you.
- 32:08Speaker 1: He hating on you because he cares about her and
- 32:10Speaker 1: he don't work with you. Bro, that's it. And you
- 32:14Speaker 1: probably sound like you feel of ship anyway. You've only
- 32:16Speaker 1: been dealing with two years. She ain't your fiance, she
- 32:19Speaker 1: ain't none. She just your little shout of your girlfriend.
- 32:22Speaker 1: You put a title on her, hey boy, Yeah he
- 32:25Speaker 1: probably should be like, yeah, he just you know, he
- 32:27Speaker 1: did hitting that just trying to goddamn and yeah, yeah
- 32:31Speaker 1: you just want to control that girl. You can't. All right, Tom,
- 32:35Speaker 1: get about here. Give us some shout outs, Dandrius, some
- 32:39Speaker 1: shout out like shout out to shout out to my mama,
- 32:47Speaker 1: my first number one fan, um, just everybody you know
- 32:53Speaker 1: I'm all about I got a song called good Company,
- 32:55Speaker 1: and I'm all about good vibes, good energy, genuine authentic people.
- 32:59Speaker 1: So if that's you, I'm shouting out to you. We
- 33:01Speaker 1: also have this segment called pep talk, and so you'll
- 33:04Speaker 1: just give your fans or or people up and coming
- 33:08Speaker 1: in your footsteps, any motivation that you have. What's up, y'all?
- 33:11Speaker 1: This is Dondrea and my pep talk, honestly is to
- 33:15Speaker 1: trust yourself, Like you have a gut feeling, you have
- 33:19Speaker 1: an inner knowing, and a lot of times we ignore
- 33:22Speaker 1: that and then we end up in some mess um
- 33:25Speaker 1: and it might take a lot of years to unlearned
- 33:27Speaker 1: that thing. So like, just trust yourself from the jump,
- 33:31Speaker 1: because it's not lying to you. I can't get enough
