- 0:01Randy Black: The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing.
- 0:07Or see.
- 0:08That's us, dude. Oh,
- 0:11yeah.
- 0:12Hello, everyone. Welcome back to Randy Unscripted. I'm Randy Black, and this is another entry into my napod
- 0:19promo challenge.
- 0:20That's the national
- 0:22podcast post month where podcasters around the world are pushing themselves to create and publish
- 0:2830 episodes
- 0:30in thirty days.
- 0:31It's all about creativity,
- 0:33consistency,
- 0:34and community.
- 0:36And today here on my napod promo twenty twenty five episode number four, I wanna kinda talk about something that happened to me
- 0:43in the way that I responded and the way that that I handled it because I kinda surprised myself.
- 0:49So
- 0:51I work in education,
- 0:54in technology, and I had an event happen where I was
- 0:59I was at a school to to take care of something. And as I go in and proceed to do so, one of the staff members of the school comes in and,
- 1:08you know, very,
- 1:10very rudely
- 1:12tells me to get out of their way, that they need to get to their computer because what they need to do is important.
- 1:18And I said back, okay. But I'm here to fix something for you. I'm just trying to get that taken care of.
- 1:26And
- 1:27the rudeness did not stop. It continued on from there.
- 1:32And
- 1:33I know that in the past,
- 1:36I would not have responded
- 1:38the way I did
- 1:40because I simply stepped back,
- 1:43put myself back out of the way, and leaned on a cabinet that was there and waited on them to finish and and move on.
- 1:51Because for whatever reason, what they had to do was far more important than what I needed to do to them.
- 1:56So,
- 1:58you know, as I'm as I'm leaning back there and I'm I'm thinking about the situation, thinking about what just happened,
- 2:03and
- 2:05we have that that that time in our lives,
- 2:08you know, especially as Christians, which I am a Christian, a lot of people know that,
- 2:13where
- 2:13you feel that voice come up that's like,
- 2:17that that person can't do that to you. You you can't let them get away with that.
- 2:22And that's that's the adversary. That's the enemy. That's the devil creeping in trying to get you to react and to to act in a way that's
- 2:31not Christ like and is unchristian. And
- 2:34I had that come up, and
- 2:36my first reaction was to simply
- 2:39lean back further on the cabinet.
- 2:42Quietly to myself, I started praying.
- 2:45I said, Lord,
- 2:47help me.
- 2:48Help me to not be upset at this individual.
- 2:51Help me to move past this situation.
- 2:53Take care of the problem and fix it for them,
- 2:56and then move on. Not hold the grudge,
- 2:59not be angry, not be upset,
- 3:01simply do what I came to do and take care of it.
- 3:05And
- 3:06it was absolutely
- 3:08the most amazing feeling. It's like all that weight
- 3:12that was setting on my shoulders
- 3:14in reaction to the way this person had
- 3:17come in and responded and done things
- 3:20was gone.
- 3:23You know? And I've I've been a Christian for a big chunk of my life, but
- 3:28I've never reacted that way to a situation.
- 3:31I've learned as I've gotten older now that I'm middle aged that
- 3:35sometimes
- 3:37the answer is no longer to
- 3:39to try to correct things, no longer to step in and try to show people a way that things should be done.
- 3:45Just walk away.
- 3:47Just let it happen. Move on and pray for them.
- 3:51And that's what I did.
- 3:53And I was so proud of myself
- 3:55that I didn't lose my cool,
- 3:58that I didn't get angry, that I didn't get upset,
- 4:02that I let God take over,
- 4:04let Jesus step in,
- 4:06touch my heart,
- 4:08and ask them
- 4:10to be forgiven for what they did, for the way they reacted.
- 4:14That was powerful.
- 4:16That was moving.
- 4:18By the time I got to my office later on
- 4:22in the day and my
- 4:24my wife texted me to ask how the day was,
- 4:27I replied back and told her, it's going pretty good, but I had a moment this morning where I almost I almost
- 4:34let someone
- 4:36have it, let myself lose control,
- 4:39let myself respond poorly,
- 4:41but I didn't.
- 4:43That I stopped and I prayed
- 4:46and the the compulsion, the feeling, it all went away.
- 4:50It was such an amazing thing.
- 4:53I cannot, you know, stress
- 4:55enough
- 4:56how powerful,
- 4:58prayer can be, how amazing
- 5:01prayer can be,
- 5:03and how that it can help change things
- 5:06in your life.
- 5:08You know, it it leads me to the idea that
- 5:11I need to keep doing more to share
- 5:14my faith,
- 5:16that I need to keep pushing forward
- 5:18and having people to
- 5:21understand
- 5:23where it is
- 5:24that
- 5:25I'm getting this from.
- 5:27And it all comes from knowing that
- 5:31I have sinned,
- 5:33that I have fallen short of God's glory,
- 5:36that if I don't step up
- 5:39and make the changes to accept him and accept his son,
- 5:43that the wages of sin is death,
- 5:46that
- 5:47God has given us the ability to have eternal life through his son Jesus
- 5:52by asking him to come into our heart and to be our savior and to change us.
- 5:59The idea that God demonstrated
- 6:01his own love toward us
- 6:04even while we were sinners
- 6:06by giving his son
- 6:08to die for us.
- 6:10And that if we take the time to simply confess with our mouth
- 6:14that we believe Jesus
- 6:15is the Lord, is our savior,
- 6:18and believe that in our heart, and that God raised him from the dead,
- 6:23that we can be saved and we can move on to heaven after our time on this earth ends,
- 6:29And that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord, everyone who asks for that
- 6:35will be saved,
- 6:37and we'll spend eternity in heaven with the Lord and with Jesus and with everyone else who's saved.
- 6:43Man, that's powerful.
- 6:45Today, for some reason,
- 6:47stopping and saying that prayer and asking
- 6:50Jesus to take over, asking for forgive or giving forgiveness to that person and asking the Lord to to help me, to Jesus to help me to deal with that and handle that situation best
- 7:02shows that those decisions I've made,
- 7:04making my way down that path to salvation
- 7:08by becoming a Christian, by accepting those things in my life has made me
- 7:14a better person,
- 7:15has made me
- 7:17perform better as a human being.
- 7:20Just thought that that was a powerful thing that happened today, and I wanted to share it.
- 7:25Some people
- 7:26may be turned off by this episode. They may be turned off by me sharing this, by sharing that profession of faith,
- 7:32by sharing what happened to me,
- 7:35and how it relates back to
- 7:37my choices and my decisions in my faith.
- 7:41But, you know, if that's if if people are offended and hurt by it, I'm sorry.
- 7:47I'm not gonna hold back from what the truth is in my life.
- 7:52So remember that.
- 7:55We are still in Napod Pomo.
