- 0:09Speaker 1: He's ready for the season.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Fans side and NFT inside of Robert Murray joining us
- 0:13Speaker 2: right now on FT. Happy Opening Day to you, Robert,
- 0:16Speaker 2: and let's first continue the conversation on Pete car Armstrong.
- 0:21Speaker 2: What do you think of the extension and the lack
- 0:24Speaker 2: of options in the extension?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well, first of all, happy opening to day.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Boys. It's good to be here.
- 0:29Speaker 3: It was a long offseason, but we made it one
- 0:31Speaker 3: piece somehow. But the Pete car Armstrong deal that did
- 0:35Speaker 3: not catch me, I don't think anybody else around the league,
- 0:38Speaker 3: by surprise. We saw a ton of buzz about it
- 0:40Speaker 3: last year, and I didn't really get the indication that
- 0:43Speaker 3: last year like it was a serious possibility. But this
- 0:46Speaker 3: offseason it was a real priority for them. They saw
- 0:49Speaker 3: the impact that he ended up having in Chicago in
- 0:52Speaker 3: that outfield, and they saw the ability with the bat,
- 0:55Speaker 3: and they believe he can be even better and it
- 0:57Speaker 3: was a big priority for them. And it was very
- 1:00Speaker 3: unique deal in the fact that it did not contain
- 1:03Speaker 3: any club options. It's super rare, but it just underscores
- 1:06Speaker 3: their belief here in Pete Kerr Armstrong and Hiss just
- 1:10Speaker 3: his upside because he's he's a high floor guy, but
- 1:13Speaker 3: his upside is just tremendous. So I thought it made
- 1:17Speaker 3: a ton of sense for Pete Armstrong to do that
- 1:20Speaker 3: because it's also it secures him one hundred plus million
- 1:24Speaker 3: dollar contract right now, but it also allows him to
- 1:27Speaker 3: test free agency when he's thirty or thirty one, which
- 1:30Speaker 3: is the same age as as when Aaron Judge was
- 1:32Speaker 3: a free agent, when Marcus Sammye was a free agent,
- 1:34Speaker 3: some of these other guys. So he's got another bite
- 1:37Speaker 3: at the apple when it comes to getting a mega
- 1:39Speaker 3: deal in free agency. And if he continues at the
- 1:41Speaker 3: arc that he's on now and what the Cubs believe
- 1:44Speaker 3: he can be, it's going to be just as a
- 1:47Speaker 3: very lucrative contract whenever that eventually comes. But there is
- 1:50Speaker 3: a couple of different ways the Cubs could have gone
- 1:52Speaker 3: about this thing here. They could have done a deal
- 1:55Speaker 3: quite like something like this, something along the lines of
- 1:58Speaker 3: like a Corbyn Carroll kind of deal, or even if
- 2:01Speaker 3: they wanted to keep him in Chicago for the remainder
- 2:03Speaker 3: of his career, and if that was something that they
- 2:05Speaker 3: were able to agree to, possibly like a Fernando Tatist
- 2:08Speaker 3: junior or something along those lines kind of contract, but
- 2:11Speaker 3: they settled on this six years for one hundred and
- 2:14Speaker 3: fifteen million. I love the move for both sides, and
- 2:17Speaker 3: it also feels good talking about the Cubs here too
- 2:20Speaker 3: as a team that's that's spending, because in previous off
- 2:23Speaker 3: seasons we've really gotten on them for not spending and
- 2:27Speaker 3: the Ricketts family for not investing serious dollars into this
- 2:30Speaker 3: Cubs team. But they went out and got out Alex Bregman,
- 2:33Speaker 3: they got Edward Cabrera, they get this deal done. They've
- 2:35Speaker 3: also gotten a bunch of other deals done.
- 2:37Speaker 4: In free agency.
- 2:38Speaker 3: It feels good when you're talking about the Chicago Cubs
- 2:41Speaker 3: mentioning them as like a serious spender, which.
- 2:44Speaker 4: It's how it should be, and it's.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Why I think they're the favorite in that division as
- 2:47Speaker 3: of this point, because of.
- 2:49Speaker 4: The rarity of the fact that there's no options and
- 2:52Speaker 4: the fact that that Christopher Sanchez just did kind of
- 2:56Speaker 4: like a rare thing too, where they extended some of
- 2:58Speaker 4: his contract through the option years that they had. Is
- 3:03Speaker 4: this signifying that teams are looking that way because of
- 3:06Speaker 4: the fact that the new CBA might X nay some
- 3:10Speaker 4: of those option years if something happens with the new CBA,
- 3:13Speaker 4: because now two teams have done odd things within the
- 3:17Speaker 4: last week, and then we can look ahead to the
- 3:18Speaker 4: other extensions that are possible.
- 3:21Speaker 3: No, it's it's totally possible that could end up being
- 3:23Speaker 3: the case here. And although that being said, like the
- 3:25Speaker 3: Phillies doing that with Christopher Sanchez, that was a very
- 3:28Speaker 3: unique case in the fact that they had a player
- 3:30Speaker 3: signed to a super team friendly deal and they end
- 3:33Speaker 3: up ripping up that contract and giving him one hundred
- 3:35Speaker 3: plus million bucks like that was extremely rare. And between
- 3:39Speaker 3: the Phillies doing that and also getting Hazelsizarto, I think
- 3:42Speaker 3: they deserve a ton of credit there. The Cubs doing
- 3:44Speaker 3: this with Pee car Armstrong, Like, yeah, it definitely sets
- 3:48Speaker 3: a different precedent here for sure, And I do wonder
- 3:51Speaker 3: in talking to people around the league if that could
- 3:53Speaker 3: end up becoming a new trend, because even before the
- 3:56Speaker 3: terms ended up leaking yesterday, I had somebody mentioned that
- 3:59Speaker 3: he would be bet the house that it would end
- 4:02Speaker 3: up including a club option, which I hope he didn't
- 4:04Speaker 3: end up betting the house because then he'd be out
- 4:07Speaker 3: of a house, which I mean that would not be
- 4:08Speaker 3: very good. But yeah, no, it could definitely be a
- 4:12Speaker 3: new trend. But again, I love the deal here for
- 4:14Speaker 3: the Cubs. I think it makes a ton of sense.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And plus another part of this too is they really
- 4:19Speaker 3: didn't have They don't have a ton of players at
- 4:23Speaker 3: least position players signed long term on that roster. So
- 4:26Speaker 3: now you have Alex Bregman, you have Pete kro Armstrong, yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 3: Matt Shaw, you have some others in there. So that
- 4:31Speaker 3: also gives them some long term certainty as as far
- 4:34Speaker 3: as offense goes.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Robert anything else that you would expect to potentially break
- 4:40Speaker 2: in the next twenty four to forty eight hours on
- 4:42Speaker 2: the extension front, and if not, I still wanted to
- 4:46Speaker 2: get your take on Connor Griffin getting an extension offer
- 4:51Speaker 2: over one hundred million dollars. I think the burning question
- 4:54Speaker 2: is if he took it, is he in the major leagues.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I've never heard of something like that going down in
- 4:59Speaker 2: a player not getting a big league opportunity. Some fans
- 5:03Speaker 2: pointed out Christian Campbell, Yet he got a chance in
- 5:06Speaker 2: the bigs and then he wasn't hitting, so they sent
- 5:08Speaker 2: him down. So if you get big money, they're not like,
- 5:11Speaker 2: oh cool, you're making millions of dollars.
- 5:13Speaker 1: We'll see in the minor leagues.
- 5:15Speaker 3: No, for sure, and it's always possible we could have
- 5:18Speaker 3: something break here between now and in first pitch either
- 5:21Speaker 3: I mean tomorrow. I mean, I don't think anything's gonna
- 5:23Speaker 3: be coming today as far as the Giants or the
- 5:26Speaker 3: Yankees go. I could be wrong, but I do remember
- 5:29Speaker 3: a few years ago it was Opening Day and I
- 5:32Speaker 3: knew Key Brian Hayes was getting extended.
- 5:34Speaker 4: It was.
- 5:34Speaker 3: It was one of the most crazy things ever. It
- 5:36Speaker 3: was like an hour before first pitch, and I dropped
- 5:38Speaker 3: his story and Hayes ends up going to bat, and
- 5:41Speaker 3: I believe he ends up getting hit by a pitch
- 5:43Speaker 3: and he leaves the game with an injury, and he
- 5:45Speaker 3: hadn't completed his physically yet. I believe it was. It
- 5:48Speaker 3: was one of the craziest things I've ever encountered. So
- 5:51Speaker 3: it's always possible we have something coming here as far
- 5:54Speaker 3: as extension goes, and I do think a Connor Griffin
- 5:56Speaker 3: extension remains possible. I don't think it's gonna en up
- 5:59Speaker 3: happening between now and first pitch tomorrow, but it's something
- 6:02Speaker 3: that the Pirates and Griffin have had a lot of
- 6:04Speaker 3: conversations about.
- 6:06Speaker 4: We saw Ben.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Cherrington say the other day that he wants to be
- 6:10Speaker 3: in Pittsburgh and that the organization would like to keep
- 6:12Speaker 3: him in Pittsburgh, but they don't need to extend him
- 6:16Speaker 3: like right this very second, because by all indications he's
- 6:19Speaker 3: not going to be on the opening day roster. He
- 6:22Speaker 3: didn't necessarily like blow everyone away with his numbers in
- 6:26Speaker 3: spring training. But that being said, they are very confident
- 6:31Speaker 3: he's going end up being a long term asset for
- 6:33Speaker 3: that team. You talk to people around the team, they
- 6:35Speaker 3: talk about his poise, how even when he struggles, he's
- 6:38Speaker 3: still the same guy every day, and you talk about
- 6:41Speaker 3: the tools in his body is he's unbelievable. Only nineteen,
- 6:45Speaker 3: he's barely played above double A. They can be patient here.
- 6:48Speaker 3: They send him down to the minors, they can allow
- 6:51Speaker 3: him to get that development. But I do think an
- 6:54Speaker 3: extension remains a possibility, And if they end up getting
- 6:57Speaker 3: that done, that would just be the chair on top
- 7:00Speaker 3: of the like the last twelve months for the Pirates.
- 7:02Speaker 3: You get Griffin extended. If that does get done, you
- 7:05Speaker 3: bring in Brandon Lao, Ryan o'heur and Marcelo Zuna. You
- 7:08Speaker 3: have that pitching staff there too. We've We've joked about
- 7:11Speaker 3: it on the show before. They're my Pittsburgh Pirates for
- 7:14Speaker 3: my belief in them. Yeah, I got ahead of it,
- 7:17Speaker 3: so you didn't have to mention as NBAJ, But it's
- 7:20Speaker 3: I really like the direction of that team, and if
- 7:22Speaker 3: they get that deal done, then that the upside for
- 7:26Speaker 3: that team long term just goes even higher.
- 7:30Speaker 2: This is it Kratz opening weekend of the season. And
- 7:33Speaker 2: if you're looking for tickets for an MLB game and
- 7:36Speaker 2: they're either sold out or you're just a little bit
- 7:39Speaker 2: lost and you need some help, Seekik is.
- 7:42Speaker 1: There for you.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It's not just a spot where you buy the tickets.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Is where you feel good about buying the tickets because
- 7:47Speaker 2: they have your back with their features.
- 7:49Speaker 4: And you know you're gonna get a good price. That's
- 7:52Speaker 4: that's the deal that everybody's looking for. But especially early
- 7:55Speaker 4: in the season up here in the Northeast, you kind
- 7:57Speaker 4: of want to go to a day game where you're
- 7:59Speaker 4: still going to be in the sun. It might shift
- 8:01Speaker 4: during the summer, but hey, you know what, seek will
- 8:03Speaker 4: let you know exactly where you're sitting and if it's
- 8:05Speaker 4: a good spot to watch the game.
- 8:07Speaker 1: That's right.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Each ticket is rated on a scale of one to ten,
- 8:10Speaker 2: so you know you're getting a good deal. So look
- 8:11Speaker 2: for the green dots. Green means good, red means bad.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And of course we have a code for you. You
- 8:16Speaker 2: can use code Territory ten for ten percent off your
- 8:18Speaker 2: next set of tickets at Sea Geek. That's ten percent
- 8:21Speaker 2: off any tickets with promo code Territory one zero. Make
- 8:24Speaker 2: sure you click the link in the description to download
- 8:26Speaker 2: the app and have the code automatically added to your
- 8:28Speaker 2: account so you can use it later.
- 8:31Speaker 4: How about Freddy Peralta, because they traded some significant pieces
- 8:36Speaker 4: for Freddy p to come in and be the number
- 8:39Speaker 4: one that they thought they would have in some short
- 8:42Speaker 4: term deals and they haven't been able to do it.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Is it the mets sphere of that long term pitching
- 8:47Speaker 4: contract or is it Freddie Pea's betting on bet ability
- 8:52Speaker 4: to bet on himself because it's his free agent year. Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I do like they've had conversations. My impression is that
- 9:00Speaker 3: it's probably unlikely as of this point, and I think
- 9:03Speaker 3: that's what exactly you just said. There is spot on
- 9:06Speaker 3: is he's he told I believe John Hayman of The
- 9:08Speaker 3: New York Post that he wanted something around like seven
- 9:11Speaker 3: or eight years, and Paralta is around thirty. I can't
- 9:14Speaker 3: remember his exact age, but it's somewhere around thirty. And
- 9:16Speaker 3: I don't see David Stearns or being in a hurry
- 9:20Speaker 3: to give him like that seven or eight year contract.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I'd imagine he'd prefers something more shorter term, and that
- 9:25Speaker 3: to me would be a big obstacle if I'm Paralta,
- 9:28Speaker 3: if I'm his camp, So I don't expect to Freddy
- 9:31Speaker 3: Pearolta's extension to be done between now and opening day.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I do think he'd be really smart to end up
- 9:37Speaker 3: playing this thing out as long as he possibly can,
- 9:39Speaker 3: because if he can end up using this season as
- 9:42Speaker 3: a platform here in New York, and if he puts
- 9:44Speaker 3: up similar numbers to what he did Milwaukee, or is
- 9:47Speaker 3: somehow even better, he is going to be a very
- 9:50Speaker 3: very rich man when it comes to free agency. Does
- 9:52Speaker 3: he get two hundred million, I don't know, but he
- 9:55Speaker 3: is set up to be the number two starting pitcher
- 9:58Speaker 3: available at free agency next year, not name Derek Scoogle.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So he's got everything in front of him right now.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And if you can end up doing that in New
- 10:06Speaker 3: York and also do that in the postseason as well. Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 3: the sky's the limit for his future earnings.
- 10:12Speaker 2: All right, Robert, let's hit the season preview portion of
- 10:14Speaker 2: the conversation. So there's two topics we want to hit.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Decision makers under the most pressure heading into the season,
- 10:20Speaker 2: and then some of your surprise teams. Let's start with
- 10:22Speaker 2: the decision makers. Give us a name or two, and
- 10:24Speaker 2: then we'll follow up.
- 10:25Speaker 3: All right, sounds good to me. So let's start with
- 10:27Speaker 3: Brian Cashman here. He is running back majority of the
- 10:30Speaker 3: same team that he ended up having last year. I
- 10:34Speaker 3: mean there's some differences there. Obviously they lost some relievers,
- 10:37Speaker 3: but offensively, they retained Trent Grisham, which I think that
- 10:41Speaker 3: was kind of a head scratcher, giving him the qualifying offer,
- 10:45Speaker 3: and I kind of felt like it was a no
- 10:46Speaker 3: brainer for him to accept it. And then they obviously
- 10:49Speaker 3: brought back Cody Bellinger, which I thought was vital. I
- 10:51Speaker 3: don't like they won, like we're on ninety plus games,
- 10:55Speaker 3: I think ninety four games last year, so they gets
- 10:57Speaker 3: still a very talented team here for sure, But how
- 11:00Speaker 3: much better it is or how much better it can
- 11:02Speaker 3: be this year, I don't necessarily know. So I think
- 11:05Speaker 3: the pressure is gonna be on him to get this
- 11:07Speaker 3: thing right. I also think that falls on Aaron Boone
- 11:09Speaker 3: here as well, because some of the guys that they
- 11:11Speaker 3: ended up acquiring last year at the deadline, a guy
- 11:13Speaker 3: like Ryan McMahon, they're betting on him and some of
- 11:16Speaker 3: these other guys to be more comfortable in New York
- 11:20Speaker 3: to end up having that experience from playing last year
- 11:23Speaker 3: allow them to hit their ground running this season. So
- 11:26Speaker 3: I think both of those guys are going to be
- 11:27Speaker 3: under the microscopt I feel like you always are if
- 11:29Speaker 3: you're in New York. That just comes with the territory.
- 11:33Speaker 3: And another one, I'll give you two more here. Craig
- 11:36Speaker 3: Breslo is another one. And like me saying that does
- 11:39Speaker 3: not mean that I think he's on the hot seat
- 11:41Speaker 3: by any means. I think he's done a good job there.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I think there's some things I don't agree with, but
- 11:47Speaker 3: the way that he's built around the pitching staff. I
- 11:49Speaker 3: struggle to find many pitching staffs better than what they
- 11:51Speaker 3: have in Boston. But they were they were very serious
- 11:55Speaker 3: about retaining Alex Bregman watched him go to the Cubs
- 11:59Speaker 3: despite seeing his impact on the field, in the clubhouse.
- 12:04Speaker 3: They were interested in Bobachett. They had very strong interest
- 12:07Speaker 3: in bobashett I can confidently say that did not get him.
- 12:12Speaker 3: They had interest in Kyle Schwarber, but they were nowhere
- 12:14Speaker 3: close to anywhere close or they were nowhere close in
- 12:17Speaker 3: the bidding for Shwarber there, and they end up getting
- 12:20Speaker 3: Wilson Contreras. They got Isaiah Kiner Filefa, they got Caleb
- 12:25Speaker 3: Durbin from the Brewers. So we'll see exactly how those
- 12:28Speaker 3: guys end up covering for the loss of Bregman and
- 12:31Speaker 3: not getting one of those big bombers by any means.
- 12:33Speaker 3: But I think that's gonna be something that a lot
- 12:35Speaker 3: of people are watching there in Boston. But again, their
- 12:38Speaker 3: pitching staff is gonna be able to cover up a bunch.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And the last one here is Ben Charrington. Because the
- 12:45Speaker 3: way they've spent this offseason, They've went out and got
- 12:48Speaker 3: Brandon Lowe, they got Ryan o her Marcelo Zuna addressed
- 12:52Speaker 3: the bullpen there as well, added some other guys. Playoffs
- 12:55Speaker 3: are now they should be the expectation here in Pittsburgh,
- 12:58Speaker 3: considering just the overall state of that team. If they
- 13:00Speaker 3: don't make the postseason, I think there might end up
- 13:04Speaker 3: being some criticism there of Charrington, But that being said,
- 13:08Speaker 3: I'm still a huge believer in what they've done this offseason.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I think they've had one of the better off seasons
- 13:13Speaker 3: of any team in baseball, and they're going to be
- 13:16Speaker 3: better and I expect them to compete in that division
- 13:18Speaker 3: and compete for a wildcard spot. So those are the
- 13:21Speaker 3: three guys that I'm really watching here the most, and
- 13:25Speaker 3: for varying reasons.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Of course, Oh, Robert Bryan Cashmans never getting fired, so
- 13:30Speaker 5: you don't have to worry unless still he resigns. You
- 13:32Speaker 5: can take him off of this nothing's changing there. Craig
- 13:35Speaker 5: Breslo is a pitching guy. He brought in great pitching.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Their offense will be with their offenses, but I think
- 13:39Speaker 5: they still make the postseason.
- 13:40Speaker 4: That'll be enough to save him.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Ben Cherrington, for me, is the only one on this
- 13:44Speaker 5: list that you know, he's been there, what almost ten
- 13:46Speaker 5: years now, and they haven't even come close to making
- 13:49Speaker 5: the postseason. He was finally given some leeway to spend
- 13:52Speaker 5: money and so maybe he gets a little more post
- 13:56Speaker 5: you know, a little more heat if they don't make
- 13:58Speaker 5: the postseason. But still he wasn't given enough to that
- 14:01Speaker 5: in the National League to cover up the deficiencies they're
- 14:03Speaker 5: still going to have no matter how you know. Ryan Hurt,
- 14:06Speaker 5: nice player, Brandon Lowe, nice player.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Paul's scheme's great, obviously, but they still don't have enough
- 14:12Speaker 5: in my opinion, to compete in a tough National league.
- 14:15Speaker 5: The one that caught my eyes was John Schneider. John
- 14:17Speaker 5: Sneder went to the World Series last year. Why would
- 14:19Speaker 5: John Schneider be under pressure? He just got a contract
- 14:22Speaker 5: extension and he went to the World Series last year,
- 14:26Speaker 5: and this team is supposed predicted to be good if
- 14:27Speaker 5: they make the postseason and don't make a run to
- 14:29Speaker 5: the World Series. He shouldn't be under pressure. He's done
- 14:31Speaker 5: a nice job.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I feel like, no, he's totally done a nice job.
- 14:35Speaker 3: And I hope him or anyone who read that piece
- 14:38Speaker 3: didn't interpret that as him being in the hot seat,
- 14:40Speaker 3: especially after him getting an extension. But they were so
- 14:42Speaker 3: close last season, like they were inches away from winning
- 14:46Speaker 3: the World Series, and they're coming back this off or
- 14:49Speaker 3: they're coming back this season. They obviously lost Bobaschet. They
- 14:53Speaker 3: had some pretty key performances last year, especially from a
- 14:56Speaker 3: guy like Ernie Clement, who really stepped up. They had
- 14:59Speaker 3: a nice off season, getting some pitching, getting Dylan Cees
- 15:02Speaker 3: as a headliner there. But when I say pressure, it's
- 15:05Speaker 3: trying to extract as much as much as they did
- 15:08Speaker 3: last year out of those guys and doing that again
- 15:12Speaker 3: this year. So, like, I think he's very capable of
- 15:15Speaker 3: doing that. I think he's going to do that. But
- 15:17Speaker 3: I think a lot of eyeballs are going to be
- 15:19Speaker 3: on the Blue Jays for doing that, because they are
- 15:20Speaker 3: set up better than most teams to get back to
- 15:24Speaker 3: the World Series, and I do believe they absolutely can.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I absolutely love the Blue Jays. But yeah, and obviously
- 15:31Speaker 3: the Blue Jays are very high on Schneider after extending him,
- 15:34Speaker 3: extending Ross Atkins too. So again, it's not me putting
- 15:37Speaker 3: pressure and saying that he's on the hot seat by
- 15:39Speaker 3: any means. I just yeah, I think it's going to
- 15:42Speaker 3: be a lot of people watching him and seeing if
- 15:45Speaker 3: you can get the most out of the team. Once again, all.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Right, I'm going to set an over under for you
- 15:49Speaker 4: for the season. One and a half managers fired by
- 15:53Speaker 4: September thirtieth, just because of how many Matt new managers
- 15:57Speaker 4: came in and the teams that you know, expectation blah
- 16:00Speaker 4: blah blah. One and a half managers fired over or
- 16:03Speaker 4: under by the end of this.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Season, I'll say, I'll say it over. There's always there's
- 16:10Speaker 3: always different change that happens during the or after the season.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I don't necessarily know what it could be like that
- 16:19Speaker 3: being set like, okay, this is I'm not saying that
- 16:21Speaker 3: he's going to get fired by any means, but I
- 16:23Speaker 3: think a lot of people are gonna be watching a
- 16:25Speaker 3: guy like Tony Battello there in San Francisco. He is
- 16:29Speaker 3: obviously a first time manager here in San Francisco, well,
- 16:33Speaker 3: a first time major league manager. I should say. He's
- 16:36Speaker 3: got a very experienced coaching staff there in San Francisco.
- 16:39Speaker 3: But going from the collegiate game to the to the
- 16:41Speaker 3: major leagues is gonna be a huge adjustment for him.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I think a lot of people are watching to see
- 16:45Speaker 3: exactly how he does there. I think I think we'll
- 16:48Speaker 3: end up being fine. Especially having a guy like Ron Washington.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I think that makes that transition a whole lot easier
- 16:53Speaker 3: for him. But Buster Posey was betting big on Tony
- 16:56Speaker 3: Battello there and a lot of eyeballs are gonna be
- 16:58Speaker 3: on that one for sure.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Okay, Robert, let's go to surprise teams drop some for us.
- 17:04Speaker 4: What do you have give me?
- 17:07Speaker 3: I'm going with the A's. I'm not gonna go with
- 17:10Speaker 3: the pirates here, but I'm going I'm going with the A's.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I love what they've done offensively and building around that team,
- 17:17Speaker 3: and they obviously were very aggressive and trying to extend
- 17:20Speaker 3: different guys this offseason, Tyler sodor Strum, Jacob Wilson. They
- 17:23Speaker 3: got those two deals done. They have been trying with
- 17:26Speaker 3: some others obviously have not gotten them across the finish
- 17:30Speaker 3: line here, Nick, Nick Kurtz would be if they could
- 17:33Speaker 3: get that deal done, I think that'd be something they
- 17:35Speaker 3: would be super excited about. I don't expect that to
- 17:39Speaker 3: end up happening as of this point, And I've talked
- 17:43Speaker 3: to people around the league, other agents who are not
- 17:45Speaker 3: associated with this entire situation here, who said, if he
- 17:48Speaker 3: waited on year to year and if you hit free
- 17:50Speaker 3: agency at the trajectory that he's on right now, he
- 17:53Speaker 3: could be looking at it like a Wan Soto type contract.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Like That's how high people were across baseball are on
- 17:58Speaker 3: Nick Kurtz. So I think between having him having or
- 18:02Speaker 3: headlining your team and having some of these other young
- 18:05Speaker 3: players there. Having Clark in the outfield patrolling the oftfield
- 18:09Speaker 3: and catching basically everything out there is big. But do
- 18:11Speaker 3: they have enough pitching to get through this entire season.
- 18:14Speaker 3: I don't know, but I've been proven wrong before, but
- 18:17Speaker 3: I think the A's finally have a really strong direction
- 18:21Speaker 3: of the fact that they've committed to it and giving
- 18:23Speaker 3: meaningful dollars to a lot of these players is a
- 18:25Speaker 3: really good thing for them and also for baseball as well.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Are the Reds considered a surprise team since they did
- 18:31Speaker 4: make the playoffs next year? If somebody thinks they're going
- 18:35Speaker 4: to make the playoffs even with Hunter Green out.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I mean, I feel like a lot of people are
- 18:40Speaker 3: underestimating them. So I would say maybe I would say,
- 18:43Speaker 3: you know what, I'll go with.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I will.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And I do like what the Reds have because they
- 18:46Speaker 3: have that young Corey that they have. They brought back
- 18:49Speaker 3: Gino Suarez, which I thought that was one of the
- 18:52Speaker 3: best deals of the entire offseason. It came down to
- 18:54Speaker 3: them and the Pirates got it for one year for
- 18:56Speaker 3: fifteen million. I thought that was a super savvy move
- 18:58Speaker 3: by that entire front office there and getting him back,
- 19:02Speaker 3: and he wanted to be back in Cincinnati. It's a
- 19:04Speaker 3: place is very comfortable in and they made a splash
- 19:07Speaker 3: last year, and or they made a really nice run
- 19:11Speaker 3: last year getting to the postseason. Having Frank ConA there managing,
- 19:15Speaker 3: I think that really ends up raising the floor for them,
- 19:18Speaker 3: and also just having another year under him is going
- 19:20Speaker 3: to be a very good thing for them overall. So
- 19:22Speaker 3: I am absolutely buying stock in the Reds. Despite Hunter
- 19:25Speaker 3: Green being on the injured list. I think they are
- 19:27Speaker 3: set up to be a pain in the butt for
- 19:31Speaker 3: the NL Central but also just the National League. I
- 19:33Speaker 3: think they have I think they're going to be one
- 19:37Speaker 3: of the more fun teams this year to follow.
- 19:40Speaker 2: You know what constitute surprise team AJ they made the playoffs.
- 19:44Speaker 1: We did power rankings.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Talking about another publication that put them at twenty two yesterday.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So if you think they are the twenty second best team, Robert,
- 19:55Speaker 2: you can watch it back later. If you missed it yesterday,
- 19:58Speaker 2: it's a different spot. I wasn't fansided. You guys have
- 20:00Speaker 2: it in better shape over there.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Twenty two missing Green and Lodolo because Lodolo is hurt
- 20:07Speaker 5: too now, so that's been a problem for him a
- 20:09Speaker 5: lot in his career, So that hurts their chances a lot.
- 20:12Speaker 5: And I know playoff chase is going to be close,
- 20:15Speaker 5: so every game they miss is another chance to not
- 20:18Speaker 5: make the postseason.
- 20:19Speaker 1: They made it by what one game?
- 20:21Speaker 5: They made it basically a tiebreaker last year with the
- 20:23Speaker 5: rights and the Mets collapsed.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yep, okay, we shall see Robert good stuff. I We're
- 20:28Speaker 2: super excited. We'll be talking plenty. Thank you for contributing

- 21:58Speaker 2: we're just bouncing around here. Okay, fine, we're bouncing around
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yankees ninety point five. We're going from top Wins all
- 22:04Speaker 2: the way to the bottom.
- 22:05Speaker 6: Yankees ninety point five over over Mets ninety point five
- 22:10Speaker 6: under under Mariners eighty nine point five over over Philly's
- 22:17Speaker 6: eighty nine and a half.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Over ninety over ninety two Cubs eighty eight and a
- 22:24Speaker 4: half over bad division.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Over Blue Jays eighty eight and a half over over
- 22:36Speaker 2: Blue Jay Sorry, Red Sox eighty seven and.
- 22:38Speaker 4: A half over eighty eight under five hundred team.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I like when you say over eight like over hook
- 22:47Speaker 2: Astros eighty six and a half under under and then
- 22:52Speaker 2: they have the braids at eighty six under Orioles eighty
- 22:56Speaker 2: five and a half.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Five hundred team under under over five hundred but two
- 23:02Speaker 4: games eighty.
- 23:03Speaker 7: Four Tigers eighty five and a half over bad division
- 23:07Speaker 7: over good picture was eighty four and a half over under.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Rangers eighty three and a half over over Padres eighty
- 23:20Speaker 2: three and a half over under Royals eighty two and
- 23:25Speaker 2: a half under over Giants eighty point five.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Eighty one over YEP five hundred.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Over Red's eighty.
- 23:37Speaker 4: And a half too beat up under over.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Diamondbacks seventy nine point five even over crats.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Okay, under I didn't hear it, sorry.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Guardian seventy nine and a half.
- 23:57Speaker 5: I'm gonna say under just because I don't think I
- 24:00Speaker 5: think they finally catches up to them.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Okay, YEP division is too good under.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Pirates seventy eight point five under over.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Not a pirates, Not a pirates guy. I'm not going
- 24:13Speaker 4: to get to five hundred. You think t Bubba Chandler
- 24:17Speaker 4: is an opportunity when the rookie of the year, if
- 24:19Speaker 4: McLean falters it all?
- 24:21Speaker 1: What about the Rays at seventy six point.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Five under over seventy seven?
- 24:31Speaker 1: I know what agent is gonna say for this one,
- 24:33Speaker 1: seventy five over five.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yes, I'll just take the over on runs the whole year,
- 24:38Speaker 4: but yeah, I'm gonna go over.
- 24:40Speaker 1: They're not going to go over. May Minnesota seventy two
- 24:43Speaker 1: and a half under.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Maybe one of the easiest unders.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Marlin's seventy two point five.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Over seventy five to seventy eight yep, because they get
- 24:54Speaker 4: to play in the Nationals over.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Okay, last run here the big boys, the Angels seventy
- 25:00Speaker 2: point five.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Over seventy two under sixty seven. Just wanted to say it.
- 25:10Speaker 2: The Cardinals sixty nine point five, Giggody crats, he went.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Under under big Giggoity.
- 25:18Speaker 2: White Sox sixty seven and a half over. I think
- 25:21Speaker 2: that's an easy over.
- 25:21Speaker 4: That's an easy over, right. I really like that over.
- 25:24Speaker 4: I like that over Carlson Montgomery is gonna hit thirty Dingers.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Nationals at sixty five point five.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Under to lose one hundred So far under. I want
- 25:34Speaker 4: to buy that down. It's so far under.
- 25:37Speaker 3: M M.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Some of these are the fun ones in terms of
- 25:40Speaker 2: where you should actually be placing the Rockies at fifty
- 25:44Speaker 2: five point five.
- 25:46Speaker 5: I'm gonna say over, just because I never want to
- 25:48Speaker 5: see a team lose one hundred and seven games.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I also believe the over on that one.
- 25:53Speaker 4: It's so hard to lose one hundred and seven games. Yeah,
- 25:59Speaker 4: And I'm gonna say they lose one hundred and six games,
- 26:03Speaker 4: so I guess I'll go over.
- 26:05Speaker 1: They signed some veteran pitchers that should help fill some innings.
- 26:09Speaker 4: No, they have a new front office. They have it's
- 26:12Speaker 4: just so hard. Seven games.
- 26:14Speaker 1: My point is the extra so hard, Like especially.
- 26:17Speaker 5: They play eighty one at Corps, they'll mixing some wins
- 26:19Speaker 5: they shouldn't have gotten.
- 26:21Speaker 1: They've picked at the top of the draft forever. There's
- 26:24Speaker 1: going to be some.
- 26:25Speaker 4: That hit Tobar is a good player, by the way.
- 26:29Speaker 1: To bar Is, and I think that he got to
- 26:31Speaker 1: play in some meaningful games.
- 26:32Speaker 4: And you're like, Cat is a good player.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yes he is too, so all right, we did it.
- 26:37Speaker 1: That was fun.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Hey, get in on the MLB action. It is opening
