- 2:38Speaker 2: Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet
- 2:41Speaker 2: of the Week. It's Angie Gillenwater. Angie, good morning, welcome
- 2:44Speaker 2: to the show.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Good morning, thank you for being here. You're doing okay today.
- 2:50Speaker 5: I am. I'm super excited to talk about Jasmine today.
- 2:53Speaker 2: All right, as always, we've got Jasmine. This is our
- 2:56Speaker 2: pet of the week. Jasmine's photos posted on my social media,
- 2:59Speaker 2: It's on Davey on Radio and also posted on at
- 3:02Speaker 2: dave a seventy on Twitter, tell us about this lovely
- 3:05Speaker 2: lady named Jasmine.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Jasmine is such as a light to be around. She's the
- 3:11Speaker 5: perfect medium sized dog. She does great in play groups
- 3:14Speaker 5: at the shelter, but you know, would probably do best
- 3:16Speaker 5: in a home environment with calmer pets. She does great
- 3:20Speaker 5: with kids, and she's just a couch potatoes dream animal.
- 3:25Speaker 2: She's a lovely dog. And she is a little bit older,
- 3:28Speaker 2: seven years old. She is spade and vaccinated, very kid friendly.
- 3:33Speaker 2: As you were telling me yesterday, as you said, great
- 3:35Speaker 2: in playgroups, a dream on a leash, and I love
- 3:39Speaker 2: that couch potatoes dream dog. It says, if you're I
- 3:42Speaker 2: feel targeted, I feel triggered.
- 3:43Speaker 5: And when you say that, yeah, she would much rather
- 3:48Speaker 5: take an evening, you know, resting rather than getting out
- 3:50Speaker 5: in this weather. I'll for sure on that.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Well, so would I, so would I. So what do
- 3:56Speaker 2: we know Jasmine's backstory? I mean, like, where Jasmine came from?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Picked up as a stray?
- 4:00Speaker 4: Do we know anything about jaz Yeah?
- 4:02Speaker 5: So, Jasmine was actually adopted from US a couple of
- 4:06Speaker 5: years ago, and the humane officer from South Charleston actually
- 4:09Speaker 5: brought her back in as astray and we've reached out
- 4:12Speaker 5: to potential microchip info and unfortunately it's just a dead
- 4:17Speaker 5: end with changing phone numbers. So yeah, we we know
- 4:21Speaker 5: a little bit about Jasmine and her history, but not
- 4:25Speaker 5: sure how she ended up back as astray.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I know sometimes people want, you know, to get the
- 4:30Speaker 2: younger dogs or cats for that matter. They want to
- 4:32Speaker 2: get the younger ones. But there's something to be said, Angie,
- 4:35Speaker 2: you know this who've done this for a while for
- 4:38Speaker 2: adopting and it's not really a senior maybe a middle
- 4:40Speaker 2: aged dog. I guess you would say, yeah, there's something
- 4:42Speaker 2: to be said for that, right there is.
- 4:46Speaker 5: So I'm a person that also has adopted several senior
- 4:50Speaker 5: pets from our shelter, and it's there's something that you
- 4:55Speaker 5: can't explain. It's just such a rewarding feeling to get
- 4:57Speaker 5: an animal out of that stressful environment and give them,
- 5:00Speaker 5: why you may not have, you know, years and years
- 5:03Speaker 5: and years with them, you're going to have a couple
- 5:06Speaker 5: handful of years that are going to be the greatest
- 5:08Speaker 5: of their life and possibly the greatest of yours.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Do we know what kind of dog I mean? Is
- 5:13Speaker 2: the classic West Virginia brown dog that we're talking about.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Here in that's yeah, she's giving very West Virginia brown dog.
- 5:21Speaker 5: I will say her ears are very kind of houndy,
- 5:24Speaker 5: beagle like. There's something about her face that reminds me
- 5:27Speaker 5: of a.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Beagles, right, Yeah, I thought the same thing when you
- 5:30Speaker 2: sent me the picture yfter, that's kind of I kind
- 5:32Speaker 2: of thought the same thing. And you know, in the
- 5:34Speaker 2: situation like this, this is a dog again, as you said,
- 5:37Speaker 2: that was adopted and we don't know what the backstory is,
- 5:40Speaker 2: but was brought back in as astray. Maybe the owner's moved,
- 5:43Speaker 2: maybe the owners just let her out. You've had no
- 5:45Speaker 2: success in trying to get her back with her original owners.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I always try to imagine what must be going through
- 5:51Speaker 2: that dog's mind. You know, they may have had a
- 5:54Speaker 2: I mean, we don't know what the environment was. Maybe
- 5:55Speaker 2: it wasn't a great environment, but you know, you picture them,
- 5:58Speaker 2: you know, being with the family, being with a person
- 6:01Speaker 2: or whatever, and then all of a sudden they find
- 6:02Speaker 2: themselves back in that shelter again. To me, that's that's heartbreaking.
- 6:07Speaker 2: That's why I really really want to try to get
- 6:09Speaker 2: this dog adopted.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it is. It is heartbreaking innocence and then compared
- 6:15Speaker 5: to what Jasmine's behavior is here right now. She's very open,
- 6:19Speaker 5: very social, very loving to all of our staff members.
- 6:22Speaker 5: So whatever her backstory was, she's taking it with, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 5: taking it in strife and opening up and giving us
- 6:29Speaker 5: all the chance to love on ourselves. She's very open
- 6:31Speaker 5: to second chances.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And if you're looking for a great animal for the dog,
- 6:36Speaker 2: as you, I mean, I'm a great animal for the family,
- 6:38Speaker 2: I should say this will be an ideal because she
- 6:40Speaker 2: loves kids. She seems to get along well with other
- 6:43Speaker 2: other playful dogs. But do we know anything about cats
- 6:46Speaker 2: or at all we know anything?
- 6:48Speaker 5: We didn't know anything about cats. But given her personality,
- 6:51Speaker 5: she is, you know, your typical lazy senior dog. I
- 6:56Speaker 5: would say she would be fine in a home with cats,
- 6:58Speaker 5: but we always recommend slow entry to be sure.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Well, you know, we've had a lot of success. We've
- 7:02Speaker 2: done this segment. I don't know, last two three years
- 7:05Speaker 2: or so, I guess probably more. And we've had a
- 7:08Speaker 2: lot of success. But the one success I always point
- 7:11Speaker 2: to my success story, and I've gotten since this dog
- 7:14Speaker 2: got adopted, to know this family pretty well. The Shepherd
- 7:18Speaker 2: family out of Saint Albans and the dog Crewton. If
- 7:21Speaker 2: you remember Crewton, Creuton was an older dog. And I
- 7:25Speaker 2: just saw a picture that the Shepherd's posted on social
- 7:29Speaker 2: media about Crewton. You talk about a dog that was
- 7:32Speaker 2: an older dog. Not really sure how old Creuton was,
- 7:34Speaker 2: but Creuton was a dog that got it. We got
- 7:36Speaker 2: adopted a couple of years ago, absolutely living his best
- 7:41Speaker 2: life right now. He has his own hashtag called Chronicles
- 7:45Speaker 2: of Creuton.
- 7:46Speaker 4: How cool is that?
- 7:47Speaker 5: Oh? I love to hear that. Those are my favorite
- 7:49Speaker 5: type of stories.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So how are the numbers looking at the sheltered right now?
- 7:54Speaker 2: I know I asked this every week, and every week
- 7:55Speaker 2: it's the same answer. You're fulled up? But are we
- 7:57Speaker 2: doing any better right now? As far as as far
- 8:00Speaker 2: as room at the shelter?
- 8:03Speaker 5: So there is a slight amount of wiggle room we
- 8:06Speaker 5: can at least breathe in our cats and adult dog.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Area where we are really struggling is puppies. For some reason,
- 8:13Speaker 5: puppies are just not moving out of there the way
- 8:15Speaker 5: they should be. So that is an area that we
- 8:19Speaker 5: can really use help with either adoptions, fosters, or volunteers
- 8:23Speaker 5: and help us take care.
- 8:25Speaker 2: But Dave violand Chewing five any line brought to you

- 8:32Speaker 2: Valley dot e du What do you need of as
- 8:36Speaker 2: far as supplies and donations at the shelter right now?
- 8:38Speaker 5: Angie, the biggest need right now is puppy chow to
- 8:42Speaker 5: feed all of the puffies that we are taking care of.
- 8:45Speaker 5: So puppy chow is our biggest need at this current moment.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And somebody text me after the segment last week Angie
- 8:52Speaker 2: and said, why do you guys never have cats on here?
- 8:56Speaker 2: So I'm going to go ahead, I'll remind you, you
- 8:58Speaker 2: remind me. Let's try to get a cat week.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Okay.
- 9:01Speaker 5: You know what is so funny is I almost picked
- 9:03Speaker 5: a cat this week, but I spent some time with
- 9:05Speaker 5: jazz and yesterday and that's what made excuse her. So
- 9:08Speaker 5: I will definitely get a cat next.
- 9:09Speaker 2: We'll definitely do a cat for you next week. Hey, Angie,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I appreciate as always you. Oh, by the way, tickets
- 9:15Speaker 2: for tucks and Tails are on sale now right.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Yes, you should be able to visit the Facebook event
- 9:21Speaker 5: page with the link that'll take you right to the
- 9:23Speaker 5: ticket seal page.
- 9:24Speaker 2: All right, Angie will talk soon. I appreciate you being here.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, no problem, you have a good one
- 9:30Speaker 5: you as well.
- 9:31Speaker 2: It's Angie Gillawater from the Kennal Charleston You, Maine Association
- 9:34Speaker 2: with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Jasmine is our dog. She is seven years old. She's
- 9:40Speaker 2: spade and vaccinated. She's kid friendly, great in playgroups, walks.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Angie's words like a dream on a leash, just an
- 9:48Speaker 2: overall delight to be around, and a couch potatoes dream dog.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Can we please try to get this dog adopted? I
- 9:55Speaker 2: mean she talked about the puppies that she has there,
- 9:57Speaker 2: and everybody wants the puppies. I get that, but man,
- 10:00Speaker 2: what a fantastic dog this would be for someone Jasmine.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I have her picture posted as I always do on
- 10:07Speaker 2: Dave Allen Radio, on Facebook and at Dave A seventy
- 10:11Speaker 2: on X So, if all possible, please please please let's
- 10:14Speaker 2: try to get Jasmine adopted. I'd like to have another
- 10:16Speaker 2: Cruton like success story. Tex says, will anyone from the
- 10:21Speaker 2: shelter along would maybe some rescuers, vets, et cetera be
- 10:23Speaker 2: willing to testify it the legislature to strengthen abuse and
- 10:27Speaker 2: neglect times. Okay, I don't know what that says. The
- 10:31Speaker 2: legislature make animal abuse and neglect laws more severe and
- 10:33Speaker 2: make them first offense felonies with at least one year
- 10:36Speaker 2: mandatory prison sentences. And just like their rabies, vaccines include
- 10:39Speaker 2: mandatory spae and neuter as well.
- 10:41Speaker 4: And for the.
- 10:41Speaker 2: County and city municipalities actually enforce the laws after investigations
- 10:46Speaker 2: arrest the evil pieces of crap that do these things
- 10:49Speaker 2: when identified that maybe then the stuff will finally stop. Well,
- 10:51Speaker 2: it just happened to have a legislature legislator who's going
- 10:54Speaker 2: to be coming up a little bit later on the show,
- 10:55Speaker 2: so I'll talk to That'll get Mike Pushkin about that.

- 13:46Speaker 2: bit later on the show, and I'll put a little
- 13:48Speaker 2: pressure on it because he stepped into the studio here
- 13:50Speaker 2: to listen to my interview there with Angie, and then
- 13:53Speaker 2: he stepped out. But he's coming back a little bit
- 13:55Speaker 2: later on. He said, let me see a picture of
- 13:58Speaker 2: the dog, and so I shown him a picture Jasmine.
- 14:00Speaker 2: So we're going to put the pressure on Mike Pushkin
- 14:02Speaker 2: to adopt this dog.
- 14:03Speaker 10: If my building would let me, I would I'd be

- 14:10Speaker 2: Wouldn't believe that voice you hear is rob Real from
- 14:13Speaker 2: her sister station ninety six to one KWS. Tomorrow's the
- 14:16Speaker 2: Green Chili Shootouts over in Capitol Market. A big part
- 14:19Speaker 2: of that will be the wrestling show. Adam Harris, extraordinay
- 14:23Speaker 2: ring announcer extraordinaire, is here with us right now.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Adam.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Of course you hear him talking about Mountain stage. But uh,
- 14:29Speaker 2: hey man, how you doing.
- 14:30Speaker 11: Hey, I'm good. Thank you for those kind words.
- 14:32Speaker 4: That's the last one you get.
- 14:33Speaker 11: Yeah, that's it.
- 14:34Speaker 6: I know.
- 14:34Speaker 12: That's why I wanted to make sure to thank you.
- 14:36Speaker 12: You know how rare those are.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Look, I'm at the Capitol yesterday.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Okay, I was at the cap I was at the
- 14:42Speaker 4: all right, we'll get in that.
- 14:43Speaker 11: I was there tuesday for Tourism Day.
- 14:45Speaker 2: All right, I was there at the Capitol yesterday. And
- 14:47Speaker 2: who do hell and behold? Who do I see? Our
- 14:49Speaker 2: good friend from the Good One administration, Matt Sutton, who
- 14:53Speaker 2: comes up to me and he says, did you really
- 14:55Speaker 2: refer to Adam Harris as one of the most sought
- 14:57Speaker 2: after wrestling ring announcers in the country. In the country,
- 15:01Speaker 2: I said.
- 15:01Speaker 10: Yes, I mean, I mean it's not a deep pool,
- 15:04Speaker 10: is it.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Oh?
- 15:06Speaker 2: No, I trained him I trained I taught him everything
- 15:09Speaker 2: on credentials. The only one that can say they were
- 15:12Speaker 2: trained by me. He taught him everything, you know, I
- 15:14Speaker 2: told him. That didn't take long. Yeah, it was on
- 15:16Speaker 2: about a forty five minute road trip. Once I said
- 15:20Speaker 2: here's what you need to know, and so what you.
- 15:22Speaker 10: Talk about for the other forty three and a half minutes.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Hey, man, don't be crap it on my business. Man,
- 15:27Speaker 2: my business I'm now retired from. But anyway, uh so,
- 15:30Speaker 2: tomorrow's the Green Chili Shootout. Rob is going to be
- 15:33Speaker 2: there from KWS. Logan will be there from V one hundred,
- 15:35Speaker 2: Steve Animal, and myself will be there from the Mountain.
- 15:38Speaker 2: There going to be a whole lot ofs that are
- 15:40Speaker 2: going to be there tomorrow looking forward to Are you
- 15:42Speaker 2: judging this year?
- 15:43Speaker 4: I think so.
- 15:44Speaker 10: I did last year. I would love to do it
- 15:46Speaker 10: again this year. It's one of my favorite things of
- 15:48Speaker 10: the year. And not only is it a legit chili competition,
- 15:54Speaker 10: you know, I mean, they're pros coming in from all
- 15:56Speaker 10: over the region, all over the world, and then there
- 15:58Speaker 10: is also the people's choice. So you get pros, you
- 16:03Speaker 10: get amateurs, you get lots of different tastes, But the
- 16:05Speaker 10: thing I like about this it is a green chili
- 16:08Speaker 10: cookoff for the pros, which means all green chilies. You
- 16:12Speaker 10: do so many of the text mechs, you kind of
- 16:14Speaker 10: get used to the Texas Red, the Bowl of Red, and.
- 16:18Speaker 4: So it's a nice change of pace. It's a good time.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, and after the wrestling show. And by
- 16:24Speaker 2: the way, I do want to mention this is a
- 16:25Speaker 2: good point that Rob said. This is going to be
- 16:27Speaker 2: a professional, you know, nationally sanctioned event. However, there are
- 16:31Speaker 2: amateurs that are going to be there too, and the
- 16:33Speaker 2: pros are going to be the green chili from what
- 16:35Speaker 2: I understand for Yes.
- 16:36Speaker 13: And some of the people's choice folks will do green
- 16:39Speaker 13: chilies as well. Yeah, but you'll also get if you
- 16:41Speaker 13: are a traditional bowl of red, that's the kind of
- 16:44Speaker 13: chili I want. You can use all your tasting tickets
- 16:46Speaker 13: on that if you prefer. But I think this is
- 16:50Speaker 13: a great experience to try something new. Yeah, if very
- 16:53Speaker 13: low stakes, risk ten dollars in advance for your tasting tickets.
- 16:57Speaker 10: I know it's going to be fifteen when you get there,
- 16:59Speaker 10: so maybe you're get today, but you get a taste
- 17:02Speaker 10: of some green chili Ooh, I like that.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Ooh, I don't.
- 17:04Speaker 10: That's not for me. So a great opportunity. And speaking
- 17:08Speaker 10: of opportunities, the up close opportunity with the market Mayan.
- 17:12Speaker 11: Yeah, it's going to be.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Fair market ma'am. Adam Harris will be announcing this thing.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 17:16Speaker 11: Yeah, that's right.
- 17:17Speaker 2: This was something that that mean because Green Chili Shoot
- 17:19Speaker 2: Shootout I think's gone on for a couple of years,
- 17:21Speaker 2: but they added their wrestling event last year. And I
- 17:24Speaker 2: was getting ready, some of us getting ready to leave,
- 17:26Speaker 2: and I said, well, you know, I did this for
- 17:28Speaker 2: thirty years. I'm gonna have to stick around watch this
- 17:30Speaker 2: a little bit, my god. And the wrestling part's free.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I mean, if you want to come to the wrestling show,
- 17:36Speaker 2: do they provide the chairs or do you need to.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Bring your own chair?
- 17:38Speaker 12: You should bring a chair if you want a chair
- 17:39Speaker 12: bad enough. There are a few chairs that they'll set
- 17:42Speaker 12: up here at the Capitol Market, but lots of people
- 17:44Speaker 12: are used to bring in their camp chairs or their
- 17:46Speaker 12: folding chairs to the to the wrestling event. And that's
- 17:49Speaker 12: what we're kind of telling people is bring your own
- 17:51Speaker 12: chair if you want a chair. A lot of people
- 17:52Speaker 12: just stood around the ring last year and enjoyed it.
- 17:55Speaker 12: I think they did bang up numbers on the beer
- 17:58Speaker 12: sales with our extra hours there, and so I'm pretty
- 18:02Speaker 12: sure that the beer vendors are looking forward to that
- 18:03Speaker 12: as well. And as Rob mentioned, man, it's a cheap
- 18:06Speaker 12: ticket to get in. You can taste up to fifteen
- 18:08Speaker 12: chilis or something like something like that and then but
- 18:12Speaker 12: the wrestling is free, and so for a really low cost,
- 18:15Speaker 12: it's going to be a beautiful day. You can take
- 18:16Speaker 12: the family, stick around and maybe see what this pro
- 18:19Speaker 12: wrestling thing is all about.
- 18:20Speaker 2: And by the way, I did see the documentary grap
- 18:22Speaker 2: Alacha nice not long goo. Rob, you haven't had a
- 18:24Speaker 2: chance to see that.
- 18:25Speaker 4: You need to do. You need to see that.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Troy rankin general did that. Saw a lot of faces
- 18:32Speaker 2: that I knew, including yours. But it's a great documentary,
- 18:36Speaker 2: and I know it's available.
- 18:37Speaker 4: I think it's on YouTube. You can get a various places.
- 18:39Speaker 2: I actually saw it on the local PBS station. Yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 2: that's right, it's a documentary about that. So who old
- 18:43Speaker 2: do we have competing?
- 18:44Speaker 5: Well?
- 18:45Speaker 12: And so you're going to see a lot of the
- 18:46Speaker 12: faces from that documentary. It's called Grapple Latcha and it
- 18:49Speaker 12: was produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting late last year,
- 18:51Speaker 12: but it's out there, as Dave mentioned, on the streaming
- 18:54Speaker 12: service through PBS and also on our YouTube. So just
- 18:56Speaker 12: look up grapp A Latcha and they're going to see
- 18:59Speaker 12: a lot of familiar face, including Troy Parker, who was
- 19:01Speaker 12: actually the first ever Regatta Pro champion the first year
- 19:04Speaker 12: we did Regatta Pro Wrestling. During the regatta, Troy Parker
- 19:08Speaker 12: came out the winner of the first ever title, but
- 19:11Speaker 12: then Bishop Baylor exercised a unique contract clause, got a
- 19:16Speaker 12: rematch that same day and took the title and has
- 19:20Speaker 12: been the longest reigning Regatta Pro champion since then. Although
- 19:23Speaker 12: Bishop Baylor has had a little bit of a change
- 19:25Speaker 12: of a heart, the fans are really backing him now
- 19:27Speaker 12: and so he's one of our most popular stars and
- 19:29Speaker 12: he's going to be defending the title on Saturday against
- 19:32Speaker 12: his former tag team partner Shane Krazak. Troy Parker, who
- 19:36Speaker 12: is all over that documentary. Grappaalacha is a wonderful huge
- 19:39Speaker 12: He calls himself the heavyweight Striker, and he's stepping into
- 19:42Speaker 12: a fatal five way match, and so five guys are.
- 19:45Speaker 11: Going to be competing.
- 19:46Speaker 12: First fall or first submission gets the win, and we've
- 19:48Speaker 12: got a very special stipulation. Let's just say, Dave, there
- 19:52Speaker 12: are some ramifications for this Summer's Sternwell Slamboree at State ramifications.
- 19:57Speaker 10: Rob I was just wondering how Bishop Baylor manages to
- 20:01Speaker 10: do all that wrestling can only move diagonally.
- 20:04Speaker 4: That's a that's a chest joke, Bishop.
- 20:06Speaker 11: Oh Bishop, right, right right, Okay.
- 20:08Speaker 10: Seriously, though, my favorite thing about this event is that
- 20:12Speaker 10: if you've got a young and who's who's into the
- 20:15Speaker 10: getting into the wrestling.
- 20:16Speaker 11: Like curious, yeah, eightling, curious, eight.
- 20:19Speaker 10: Nine ten pin curious, you will never get an opportunity
- 20:25Speaker 10: to see how it works up close.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Everybody, as close as you can be.
- 20:29Speaker 12: That's true, and that's what people love about indie wrestling,
- 20:31Speaker 12: Like you can go to WWE or AW and get
- 20:34Speaker 12: a stadium seed and experience the television and the lights
- 20:37Speaker 12: and all that. This is like seeing your favorite band
- 20:40Speaker 12: at the empty glass. This is like the guys who
- 20:43Speaker 12: are working their way up, they all of course hope
- 20:45Speaker 12: to be on television someday, but where they really thrive
- 20:48Speaker 12: is in front of these audiences. This personal connection with
- 20:51Speaker 12: the audiences and you can make icon to a contact
- 20:54Speaker 12: with the guys.
- 20:54Speaker 11: They're going to stick around after.
- 20:56Speaker 12: You can say hello to just about any of the
- 20:58Speaker 12: wrestlers afterwards and get that up close experience that you
- 21:01Speaker 12: just are not going to get at a WWE.
- 21:02Speaker 10: And if you've got somebody who uses that f word fake,
- 21:06Speaker 10: this is a great opportunity to show them how how
- 21:08Speaker 10: much it is not true, how how incredible these acts?
- 21:12Speaker 10: You know, how many r do you know how many
- 21:14Speaker 10: trips I have taken to the er, not for myself
- 21:17Speaker 10: but but but for other people that I have driven
- 21:19Speaker 10: to the er and to get stitched up and one
- 21:22Speaker 10: we left there on one particular show because that's how
- 21:25Speaker 10: fake it was.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Is that? Yeah, I've spent a lot of nights in
- 21:28Speaker 4: the er.
- 21:29Speaker 10: Well.
- 21:29Speaker 12: Our friend, our friend Candas Nelson from the Capitol Market
- 21:32Speaker 12: was a huge help last year, huge help this year.
- 21:34Speaker 12: But it was her first real exposure to wrestling, and
- 21:36Speaker 12: of course in the opening match, Troy Parker had his
- 21:38Speaker 12: nose broke and it was blood all over the place,
- 21:40Speaker 12: and she was like, did that gentleman just break his nose?
- 21:43Speaker 12: And I said, well yes, So she was kind of like,
- 21:46Speaker 12: is that fake. I was like, I promise you that
- 21:48Speaker 12: is Candace with all due respect. His nose is now
- 21:51Speaker 12: near his ear.
- 21:52Speaker 4: This this is not fake.
- 21:54Speaker 12: You can't really fake that. No, and she asked me
- 21:56Speaker 12: again this week, is he going to be back? I'm like, yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 12: his nose has been put back in place, seeking revenge.
- 22:00Speaker 10: His nasal relocation has been has been reversed at a
- 22:04Speaker 10: text here that said, slam Burrey is one of the
- 22:06Speaker 10: best things about the regatta.
- 22:07Speaker 12: Man, thank you, And we're coming back live and in
- 22:09Speaker 12: color this summer. During I think it's Saturday, July fifth,
- 22:13Speaker 12: we're gonna have some big news. We've already got a
- 22:15Speaker 12: couple of special guests lined up. I might even announce
- 22:17Speaker 12: our special guests this Saturday at Market Mayhem. So we're
- 22:20Speaker 12: gonna hear a lot more about this summer on Saturday.
- 22:22Speaker 2: All right, So getting back to the shootout, I think
- 22:24Speaker 2: we're supposed to be there around.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Twelve or so.
- 22:26Speaker 10: Noon to four is the official time on the shootout.
- 22:29Speaker 10: I think noon is our call. Time to eat up
- 22:32Speaker 10: the victuals and make our judgments. It's tough work, it is,
- 22:36Speaker 10: I mean support that there's the food and the girls
- 22:39Speaker 10: or the whole reason it got into this radio thing
- 22:41Speaker 10: forty years ago.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Now, and now at our age, it's just the food.
- 22:43Speaker 2: It's just the food, and I clearly do well with that.
- 22:47Speaker 11: You don't even get free music anymore.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right. So again we'll all be over there.
- 22:52Speaker 2: There's gonna be a whole lot of people it's going
- 22:54Speaker 2: to and the web. Everybody's been concerned about the weather.
- 22:57Speaker 2: It looks right now, Well it looks like that though
- 23:00Speaker 2: from what folks like Brian Hughes and Spencer Addingkins are
- 23:02Speaker 2: telling me that any bad weather concerns would be much
- 23:06Speaker 2: later at night. I mean, because originally it was may be,
- 23:09Speaker 2: you know, a little rain, but anything that's severe, which
- 23:11Speaker 2: we're kind of keeping an eye on, would be well
- 23:14Speaker 2: into the evening hours or perhaps like one or two
- 23:16Speaker 2: o'clock the next morning.
- 23:17Speaker 4: The show will show will be over by that.
- 23:19Speaker 12: I grew up on the farm day and my dad
- 23:21Speaker 12: had to mo hay every summer. I know, you know
- 23:22Speaker 12: a little bit about that. Well maybe not, but there's
- 23:24Speaker 12: some people down in Logan that were farmers.
- 23:26Speaker 2: But man, well they weren't farming. Hey, I can tell
- 23:28Speaker 2: you that something else.
- 23:29Speaker 12: The forecast was so important to mowing hay but my
- 23:32Speaker 12: dad would have mowed Hay in thirty five percent chance
- 23:34Speaker 12: of rain. Okay, I don't know if he would have
- 23:36Speaker 12: built the wrestling ring, but he would have. He would
- 23:37Speaker 12: have been he would have mowed Hay. I don't think
- 23:39Speaker 12: there's anything for you.
- 23:40Speaker 2: And again, if you want to come out to the
- 23:41Speaker 2: wrestling show, the wrestling event is free, that's right, and come.
- 23:44Speaker 11: Out to that four pm bell time, Ding ding Ding.
- 23:46Speaker 12: We've got five sighting matches, three championship matches and that's
- 23:50Speaker 12: all at noon. The tasting starts at noon. Pro Wrestling
- 23:53Speaker 12: kicks off at four. What a great day to be
- 23:55Speaker 12: in Charleston.
- 23:56Speaker 1: And it's going to be a great day.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Rob, You and I and Animal and Logan will all
- 23:59Speaker 2: be over it respective stations tomorrow. So we're looking forward
- 24:03Speaker 2: to it. Not wearing white shirts like I am today.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I'll have the black T shirt on tomorrow. He's going
- 24:07Speaker 2: to be covered and chill and maybe somebody's broken nose
- 24:10Speaker 2: blood there.
- 24:10Speaker 11: You never know.
- 24:11Speaker 10: You might want to go with green, Yeah, because green
- 24:14Speaker 10: chili and just a sgit I'm gonna work.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Well, yeah, you've been wearing green.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Great for me?
- 24:20Speaker 12: And can I just say Regatta Pro Wrestling on Instagram.

- 28:24Speaker 4: So are you going to adopt this dog or what
- 28:26Speaker 4: Jazz sounds like? My kind of dog? Dog just chills.
- 28:29Speaker 4: It's a couch potato. Does my dogs have no chill?
- 28:33Speaker 2: That's way you need Jasmine? Can I trade two dogs
- 28:35Speaker 2: for Jasmine and g If you're listening, I'm going to trade.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I would never do that, now, I understand. I know
- 28:40Speaker 2: you probably adopt one. And just speaking of which.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Let me get dogs. We're both rescue dogs. I know
- 28:46Speaker 4: that very well about you.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Also, someone who texted earlier about the legislature in their words,
- 28:51Speaker 2: I think you know, kind of getting serious about animal cruelty.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I don't know whether you saw this story or not.
- 28:56Speaker 2: We're not gonna spend a lot of time on this,
- 28:57Speaker 2: but I actually saw this on social media as well,
- 28:59Speaker 2: from the Utnam County Shelter. There was a dog that
- 29:02Speaker 2: was found tied to a pole in Valley Park and
- 29:07Speaker 2: you can go to the Putnam you can go to
- 29:09Speaker 2: the Putnam County Animal Shelter page and tend to see that.
- 29:14Speaker 2: So the texture said, this is why I ask about
- 29:16Speaker 2: testifying the legislature.
- 29:17Speaker 4: This evil's got to stop. It makes me sick.
- 29:20Speaker 5: You know.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Actually I used to have a one of the best
- 29:23Speaker 4: dogs I ever had. By the way, her name was Ruth.
- 29:27Speaker 4: I remember that, just like my wife. And Ruth was
- 29:30Speaker 4: found tied to a guardrail near the Morton Trap, you
- 29:34Speaker 4: know rest stop down on the Turnpike. That's where Ruth
- 29:37Speaker 4: was found. And then I got her through the shelter,
- 29:40Speaker 4: but that's where somebody had found her tied to a guardrail.
- 29:43Speaker 4: It makes me sick. She was and she was the
- 29:45Speaker 4: best dog, one of the best dogs that she was
- 29:48Speaker 4: such a good dog. And she was such a good
- 29:49Speaker 4: dog that after she passed away, they when they put
- 29:52Speaker 4: the dog statue in down there at at City Center
- 29:56Speaker 4: at Slack Plaza. If you look closely on the on
- 29:59Speaker 4: the collar, it says Ruth.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I remember you told me about that.
- 30:04Speaker 2: So let me get into this first. And yesterday there
- 30:08Speaker 2: was a ruling out of the Supreme Court about a
- 30:11Speaker 2: vacant spot in the legislature.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Do you want to weigh in on that? Sure? Well,
- 30:17Speaker 4: what we got was a first of all, we filed
- 30:20Speaker 4: this before session. Obviously after the you know, the initiative
- 30:23Speaker 4: ceremonial first day when the legislature passed this resolution to
- 30:27Speaker 4: create a vacancy, which is unprecedented and it's not legal
- 30:31Speaker 4: in my opinion, it should be the opinion of the
- 30:33Speaker 4: court as well. You can't the legislature can't just pass
- 30:36Speaker 4: a resolution declaring a vacancy. That's it's a really bad precedent.
- 30:39Speaker 4: If they don't like the outcome of an election, they
- 30:41Speaker 4: could just get the majority of their members the pass
- 30:43Speaker 4: the resolution declaring a vacancy. And that's what they did
- 30:48Speaker 4: over this incident with Delegate elect DeSoto. So they declared
- 30:53Speaker 4: the vacancy. But also what what the governor did and
- 30:55Speaker 4: the legislature did in their resolution, they ignored a law
- 30:59Speaker 4: that says that a vacancy must be filled by the
- 31:02Speaker 4: party that the subject of the vacancy, the party they
- 31:07Speaker 4: were in immediately prior to the vacancy being created. Right, So,
- 31:13Speaker 4: and that law is the law that I voted against.
- 31:16Speaker 4: It was in response that was immediate. Originally, that law
- 31:19Speaker 4: was passed after a Supreme Court decision. I believe it
- 31:22Speaker 4: was B four v. Tomlin, which was over Daniel Hall,
- 31:25Speaker 4: who was a former state senator who was a former Democrat.
- 31:29Speaker 4: And then when back in twenty fourteen when the legislature
- 31:33Speaker 4: or so when the Senate was tied fourteen fourteen, he
- 31:38Speaker 4: switched parties to give the Republicans the majority. That was
- 31:41Speaker 4: the first time that Republicans got the majority. Was over
- 31:43Speaker 4: him switching party, switching parties.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Before it was cool.
- 31:46Speaker 4: He was yeah, yeah, he was a country when country
- 31:48Speaker 4: wasn't cool. So he switched parties. And then there was
- 31:51Speaker 4: a lawsuit over that, and the Supreme Court ruled in air.
- 31:54Speaker 4: I believe that it should go to the party before
- 31:57Speaker 4: he said that, and we brought this scenario up. Somebody
- 32:00Speaker 4: could just switch parties and then resign. Well, delegate Electorsoto
- 32:05Speaker 4: switched parties before the vacancy was created, and it was
- 32:08Speaker 4: a bad law, but it's the law, and the legislature.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Now that it doesn't work in their favor, they ignored
- 32:14Speaker 4: that law and what we got yesterday. We filed a
- 32:16Speaker 4: lawsuit over it, and we were expecting an expedient response
- 32:21Speaker 4: from the Supreme Court. Instead they held it coincidentally for
- 32:25Speaker 4: thirty days and on day thirty thirty is a magic
- 32:30Speaker 4: number here, on day thirty of the legislature, they said,
- 32:33Speaker 4: because we didn't file a thirty day notice that they
- 32:36Speaker 4: were dismissing that case. There's still another case against the
- 32:39Speaker 4: legislature over their illegal resolution to create a vacancy, and
- 32:43Speaker 4: hopefully we got our day in court soon over that
- 32:46Speaker 4: after the session. But they issued this statement late on
- 32:51Speaker 4: day thirty And coincidentally, Dave, if you believe in coincidences. Coincidentally,
- 32:55Speaker 4: there are two bills running exact same builders. One in
- 32:57Speaker 4: the Senate, won in the House, which over took turns
- 33:01Speaker 4: be a four v. Tomlin, the law that they refused
- 33:04Speaker 4: to follow about filling these vacancies with the party at
- 33:08Speaker 4: the at the time of the vacancy. They have two bills,
- 33:11Speaker 4: one in the House, one in the Senate. They're both
- 33:13Speaker 4: on first reading. Coincidentally, today, if I'm required to vote,
- 33:18Speaker 4: which I feel like I might be exempt from voting
- 33:20Speaker 4: since I am the planeff in the lawsuit over it,
- 33:22Speaker 4: I would vote for it. In fact, I introduced a
- 33:24Speaker 4: version of this bill because I think it should. I
- 33:27Speaker 4: think the vacant the vacancies should reflect the will of
- 33:30Speaker 4: the voters. You know, they got it wrong back when
- 33:33Speaker 4: they you know, and be a four v. Tomlin. The
- 33:35Speaker 4: legislature doubled down on it. I voted against it. When
- 33:37Speaker 4: they did, would they codified that that bad ruling and
- 33:41Speaker 4: now they want to overturn it when it doesn't work
- 33:43Speaker 4: for their benefit. It's it's such a coincidence day.
- 33:48Speaker 2: So are you a legend something nefarious has happened here, Michael,
- 33:50Speaker 2: I would never, It's just a coincidence, coincidence.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Coincidentally, they waited thirty days to say that we didn't
- 33:57Speaker 4: file the correct thirty day notice, and then the legislature
- 34:00Speaker 4: will be done in thirty days, which would mean that
- 34:02Speaker 4: we could not get back in court in time before
- 34:04Speaker 4: they before they pass a law to overturn the law
- 34:07Speaker 4: that is in court. Fairly complicated, but a lot of
- 34:10Speaker 4: coincidences happening.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Mentioned earlier about the girls state basketball tournament, Mike, the
- 34:14Speaker 2: Ladies Spartans of Greenbrier East taking on the Lady Pioneers
- 34:17Speaker 2: of Wayne's My final Friday, the girls State term at
- 34:19Speaker 2: the Conecuman Convention Center, and your your US Senator Jim Justice.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Mike is on the sidelines coaching. I am presuming today. Wow,
- 34:29Speaker 2: Well your thoughts.
- 34:30Speaker 4: My thoughts are, well, it's a good thing that this
- 34:32Speaker 4: h you know, this the bill that they passed this.
- 34:36Speaker 4: You know, the genital inspection bill about bathrooms doesn't go
- 34:39Speaker 4: into effect yet, or coach justice would not be able
- 34:42Speaker 4: to give a locker room speech.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Is it going to go I mean somebody else brought
- 34:46Speaker 2: that up. A Texter brought that up. Is it going
- 34:49Speaker 2: to go that far?
- 34:50Speaker 4: In your opinion, it's a poorly written bill. We had
- 34:53Speaker 4: a poorly written amendment that was offered by the Judiciary
- 34:56Speaker 4: chair in the House. It was a rush. How often
- 34:59Speaker 4: have you seen a bill pass that fast and then
- 35:01Speaker 4: the governor have a signing ceremony the day after it
- 35:04Speaker 4: passes that. They didn't have time to vet the bill.
- 35:06Speaker 4: It's a poorly written bill and it has some mistakes
- 35:09Speaker 4: in it. Yeah, that that's that that would apply to
- 35:12Speaker 4: coaches in locker rooms giving you know, halftime speeches.
- 35:16Speaker 2: The and this has been this is kind of occupied
- 35:19Speaker 2: a lot of the news and on this show and
- 35:21Speaker 2: social media. I had dele get Kayla Young on the
- 35:23Speaker 2: show yesterday. The day before that, I had Delegate Acres
- 35:25Speaker 2: on the show. The amendment was labeled by some as
- 35:28Speaker 2: quote dangerous. The question I have asked that was me
- 35:34Speaker 2: that was the statement from the Okay, was it in
- 35:37Speaker 2: the statement. I mean, was it in the democratic of
- 35:40Speaker 2: the House? Okay, okay, okay? And I guess the question
- 35:44Speaker 2: it begs the question that if the amendment was dangerous,
- 35:46Speaker 2: why wasn't there more.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Pushback from the Democrats that because it was so poorly
- 35:49Speaker 4: written it was it was hard to figure I mean,
- 35:52Speaker 4: it was hard to figure it out because it's what
- 35:54Speaker 4: we call back. You know, some English majors would call
- 35:56Speaker 4: a disjunctive clause.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Remember at that term, and well that you're about to
- 36:01Speaker 2: hear it, and a lot of Look, a lot has
- 36:03Speaker 2: been said about Chairman Acres amendment, except the actual seventy
- 36:09Speaker 2: two words of the amendment.
- 36:10Speaker 4: So if you bear with me, I'd like to read
- 36:12Speaker 4: the amendment and tell you exactly what it does. Okay.
- 36:15Speaker 4: And it's confusing. It is confusing, and that's why when
- 36:19Speaker 4: at first glance there wasn't you know, we're still trying
- 36:21Speaker 4: to figure out what it does. I don't think the
- 36:24Speaker 4: sponsor of the amendment understood exactly what it did. Really,
- 36:26Speaker 4: to give him the benefit of the doubt, I don't
- 36:28Speaker 4: think he realized how bad this amendment was. I'll read
- 36:31Speaker 4: it to you, provided that nothing in this article may
- 36:34Speaker 4: be construed as authorizing any person other than any person
- 36:38Speaker 4: other than a treating healthcare provider to visually or physically
- 36:42Speaker 4: examine a minor child for purposes of verifying the biological
- 36:46Speaker 4: sex of the child without the consent of the child's parent,
- 36:50Speaker 4: guardian or custodian. That's a disjunctive clause. And what that
- 36:53Speaker 4: would actually do legally, it would allow for healthcare provider
- 36:58Speaker 4: like a school nurse. I would see, that's how it
- 37:00Speaker 4: would work out if the issue was in a school
- 37:03Speaker 4: to conduct this examination for the purpose of verifying biological
- 37:10Speaker 4: sex of a child, which means, I hate to bring
- 37:12Speaker 4: it up again, an examination of genitals without the consent
- 37:18Speaker 4: of the child's parent, guardian or custodian. So that would
- 37:20Speaker 4: allow the school nurse to conduct this examination without without
- 37:25Speaker 4: parental consent. That's why it's a dangerous amendment, and that's
- 37:29Speaker 4: what that's what created the problem. And I'll tell you
- 37:31Speaker 4: there was also absolutely no opposition in the Senate when
- 37:35Speaker 4: they removed this dangerous amendment. The Senate voted unanimously to
- 37:38Speaker 4: take that out intact. The Senate majority leader, Senator Martin
- 37:43Speaker 4: agreed with Senator Garcia when he said they explained that's
- 37:46Speaker 4: what the amendment does. Yes, that's why they took it out.
- 37:49Speaker 4: There were no votes on that to take it out.
- 37:52Speaker 4: When it came back from the Senate, it also unanimously
- 37:56Speaker 4: the House agreed to take that dangerous amendment out, and
- 38:00Speaker 4: including Chairman Acres, he voted to remove his own amendment
- 38:03Speaker 4: because it was flawed. Like I said, I'll give him
- 38:05Speaker 4: the benefit of the doubt and say he wrote a
- 38:08Speaker 4: poorly written amendment and he should just own it. It's
- 38:12Speaker 4: out of the bill. Just own it. Say he made
- 38:14Speaker 4: a mistake.
- 38:16Speaker 2: And I had him on the show Wednesday, as I said,
- 38:19Speaker 2: and he asked then he said, if anyone would like
- 38:23Speaker 2: to come on the show on this show, and I'm
- 38:27Speaker 2: always open anybody wants to come on this show to
- 38:29Speaker 2: debate this with either you or or Delegate Delegate Kayla Young.
- 38:34Speaker 2: He mentioned her by name, if you want to come up.
- 38:37Speaker 2: But I'll be honest with you, Mike, I would like
- 38:39Speaker 2: to put this whole thing to rest, to be honest
- 38:40Speaker 2: with you, because I'm kind of tired of talking to
- 38:42Speaker 2: why children's genitals.
- 38:43Speaker 4: I'm tired of it too, and I'm tired of wasting
- 38:45Speaker 4: precious legislative time passing bills about it. And then taking
- 38:50Speaker 4: a forty five minute or an hour long recess for
- 38:53Speaker 4: the Republicans to run downstairs to pose in a photo
- 38:56Speaker 4: op while the governor signs this flawed piece of legislation.
- 38:59Speaker 4: I'm tired of waiting time on bathrooms. We should be
- 39:02Speaker 4: more concerned about putting teachers in the classroom. We should
- 39:06Speaker 4: be more worried about our six thousand children in foster care.
- 39:09Speaker 4: We have so many issues. And what have we passed
- 39:12Speaker 4: so far? What five bills have passed?
- 39:14Speaker 2: And two of those were statutory, right, I mean that happened.
- 39:16Speaker 4: And and then the most important and the one he has,
- 39:19Speaker 4: the bill that he rushes through to have a bill
- 39:21Speaker 4: signing ceremony over Uh, was this bill bathroom bill? And
- 39:26Speaker 4: we've had Look, we've had public restrooms for a long
- 39:29Speaker 4: time day and it's not been an issue. It hasn't
- 39:32Speaker 4: happened here, there is there are no issues with this.
- 39:34Speaker 4: But this will create more problems than it than it solves,
- 39:38Speaker 4: because it creates this this you know, this fear and
- 39:42Speaker 4: this you know, distrust of the other and you know,
- 39:45Speaker 4: checking people just you know, before they can use a
- 39:47Speaker 4: public restroom. It's ridiculous and it didn't deserve to see
- 39:51Speaker 4: the light of day. Unfortunately, we're wasting all this time
- 39:53Speaker 4: with it. But the answer you're with a halfway time.
- 39:56Speaker 4: I would come on and discuss this issue, but like you,
- 39:58Speaker 4: I'm tired of talking about.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I kind of am with this, but I won't.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I'm back down from a discussion because actually, the truth
- 40:08Speaker 4: happens to be on my side. I just read the amendment.
- 40:10Speaker 4: That's exactly what the amendment does. It was a poorly
- 40:13Speaker 4: written amendment, and that's what happens when you rush through
- 40:15Speaker 4: legislation and just push things out for the benefit of
- 40:19Speaker 4: a photo op, you get flawed work. And the same
- 40:22Speaker 4: could be said for a lot of the work that's
- 40:24Speaker 4: coming out of the Judiciary Committee. Unfortunately, there was a
- 40:27Speaker 4: bill yesterday about allowing for corporate cash directly to campaigns,
- 40:33Speaker 4: which is illegal even on a congressional level. I mean,
- 40:35Speaker 4: corporations can't give directly to the Trump campaign, but they
- 40:38Speaker 4: wanted to legalize this in West Virginia for corporations to
- 40:41Speaker 4: give directly to candidates. It was another flawed bill. There
- 40:44Speaker 4: were some other issues with it. It came out of the
- 40:46Speaker 4: House Judiciary and it died on the floor. A bill
- 40:49Speaker 4: that came out of Judiciary. It died on the floor
- 40:51Speaker 4: because it was a bad bill. So I think if
- 40:53Speaker 4: they would spend more time in that committee and actually
- 40:56Speaker 4: vet these bills properly instead of you know, conducting Twitter
- 41:00Speaker 4: and Facebook battles on their phones while they're supposed to
- 41:02Speaker 4: be concentrating on the legislative session, maybe we'd get better
- 41:06Speaker 4: work out of the Judiciary committee.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Texays, No, there's nothing nefarious going on. The fact is,
- 41:11Speaker 2: elections have consequences. The GOP wants elections, and therefore they
- 41:15Speaker 2: pass bills that will benefit the will of the people.
- 41:17Speaker 4: The people spoke the GOP is working for them. Well,
- 41:20Speaker 4: it is the bills entirely about elections. That's all it's
- 41:23Speaker 4: about is about And you know, you can see, I mean,
- 41:27Speaker 4: Delegate Long, Delegate Young spoke about it, all the negative
- 41:30Speaker 4: mailers that she got over this issue. But I find
- 41:34Speaker 4: it incredibly distasteful. We're just using you know, fear and
- 41:37Speaker 4: hatred and mistrust for political expediency instead of actually doing
- 41:43Speaker 4: things that help our constituents, you know, focusing on issues
- 41:46Speaker 4: like fixing roads, like making health care more affordable and accessible,
- 41:50Speaker 4: about actually things that people really want us to do.
- 41:52Speaker 4: And I realized that there's a political expediency tied to this,
- 41:55Speaker 4: and that's why they do it. But who does it
- 41:57Speaker 4: really help?
- 41:58Speaker 2: Texas Mike, I have a daughter about to start potty
- 42:01Speaker 2: training when she's old enough to use public restrooms. Am
- 42:03Speaker 2: I allowed in the women's to help her use the bathroom?
- 42:06Speaker 2: I'm presuming this is a man that's texting, Or do
- 42:08Speaker 2: I have to take her into the men's restroom? And
- 42:10Speaker 2: is she allowed to use the men's restrooms so I
- 42:12Speaker 2: can help her?
- 42:13Speaker 4: And why should the legislature be be dictating this sort
- 42:17Speaker 4: of thing? Really, it's like, you know, I don't bill
- 42:20Speaker 4: was written so poorly. I'm not sure it's you know,
- 42:22Speaker 4: it's a good question. I'm sorry that somebody even has
- 42:25Speaker 4: to ask that question. It should be able to, you know,
- 42:28Speaker 4: assist your child and be a good parent. It's just
- 42:32Speaker 4: a it's a ridiculous piece of Legiously.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Tex says the reason we haven't had an issue with
- 42:35Speaker 2: bathrooms in the past is because the past transgenderism was
- 42:38Speaker 2: severely abnormal. Well guess what, it's still to abnormal. But
- 42:41Speaker 2: the Democrats push this issue every turn. Therefore, we need
- 42:44Speaker 2: to protect women as a texture.
- 42:46Speaker 4: There hasn't been an issue here. We've had restrooms for
- 42:48Speaker 4: a long time. There have not been any issues. This
- 42:51Speaker 4: is this is entirely about elections. If you don't believe me,
- 42:55Speaker 4: check your mailbox next next election cycle and see how
- 42:59Speaker 4: many pieces a mail you get about this non issue.
- 43:02Speaker 4: I mean, we know that's what it's about there. And
- 43:05Speaker 4: this is why they have a signing ceremony over this.
- 43:09Speaker 2: I've used I've used the term low hanging fruit on
- 43:14Speaker 2: and try not to giggle when I said it on
- 43:17Speaker 2: about this issue because it's easy.
- 43:18Speaker 4: It's easy, you know, and and and again. The people,
- 43:21Speaker 4: the people deserve a legislature that are going to do
- 43:23Speaker 4: things that are hard. They elect us to do the
- 43:25Speaker 4: difficult things like address real issues that that uh, that
- 43:30Speaker 4: that need our attention. We're looking at what according to
- 43:32Speaker 4: the governor, we're looking at a four hundred million dollar debt. Uh.
- 43:36Speaker 4: We are, we have an overburdened foster care system. We
- 43:41Speaker 4: have you know, young families that can't get to work
- 43:43Speaker 4: because of childcare issues. We have so many real issues
- 43:46Speaker 4: we need to address, but we have we take a
- 43:49Speaker 4: forty five minute recess to get a photo op over
- 43:53Speaker 4: a bathroom bill.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Let me let me switch gears before we go to
- 43:56Speaker 2: break here, we do we and I want to get
- 43:58Speaker 2: off this. Uh we do well, I've got a news
- 44:00Speaker 2: break here from our friends over at thirteen that says
- 44:03Speaker 2: Senator Jim Justice.
- 44:04Speaker 4: Of course we'll be coaching the game. As we talked.
- 44:06Speaker 2: About, us Senate has until eleven fifty nine tonight to
- 44:09Speaker 2: pass the spending bill and get it a President Trump's
- 44:11Speaker 2: desk to fund federal agencies through September. And I mean,
- 44:15Speaker 2: I'm assumed maybe maybe maybe Senator Justice, because it's an
- 44:18Speaker 2: early game, maybe he's going to go back to d
- 44:20Speaker 2: C tonight.
- 44:20Speaker 4: I don't I don't know.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Maybe he is, because if they win today, then they
- 44:24Speaker 2: come back and play with championships tomorrows. So maybe he's
- 44:26Speaker 2: headed back to d C. I mean, it just seems
- 44:28Speaker 2: to me though that there's probably more important things to
- 44:31Speaker 2: worry about, as much as I love high school sports
- 44:33Speaker 2: than that.
- 44:34Speaker 4: But that's just me. All Right, we got to take
- 44:36Speaker 4: a break. But Dave Ally a shame of the government
- 44:38Speaker 4: shut down because Justice decided to coach at basketball.
- 44:41Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to I don't think it's
- 44:42Speaker 2: going to. Even Schumer said that, all right, if Dave
- 44:44Speaker 2: Allen showing five d lie brought to you part by
- 44:46Speaker 2: Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Back after
- 44:48Speaker 2: this on the Voice of Charleston WCCHS.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Brought to you by the Eric J. Tar Family Businesses.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Eric J. Tar Family Businesses want to thank you for
- 44:57Speaker 1: shopping locally.
- 44:59Speaker 8: We all on what's best for our kids, safe, healthy choices,
- 45:04Speaker 8: but some politicians right here in West Virginia are going
- 45:08Speaker 8: way too far. They're pushing a ban on safe ingredients
- 45:13Speaker 8: in our grocery stores. That ban would jack up prices
- 45:16Speaker 8: on almost everything we buy. Banning these types of ingredients
- 45:19Speaker 8: would eliminate sixty percent of the food on grocery shelves,
- 45:23Speaker 8: hiking prices even more when we're already struggling worse. It
- 45:27Speaker 8: would cost thousands of jobs all across West Virginia. Governor
- 45:32Speaker 8: Morrissey can stop this reckless ban and veto it. We

- 46:30Speaker 2: know what's poor that this new Democrats pet project of
- 46:33Speaker 2: bending over backwards to appease and to kiss the rings
- 46:36Speaker 2: of the trans community by caving into their every delusional demand,
- 46:39Speaker 2: such as sitting back and blindly allowing boys who feel
- 46:42Speaker 2: like girls into real girls' locker rooms and boys that
- 46:44Speaker 2: feel like girls playing against girls in sports. Let your
- 46:47Speaker 2: own daughter play against a boy in basketball softbar or volleyball,
- 46:50Speaker 2: and see how you react if or when she gets
- 46:52Speaker 2: a concussion or a broken arm. I do believe a
- 46:55Speaker 2: man in a lady's room happened at south Ridge Target
- 46:57Speaker 2: a few years ago and it was illegal.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it's illegal for men to walk into the I
- 47:03Speaker 4: mean to go and yeah, that's our We already have
- 47:05Speaker 4: laws on the books to prevent that from happening. That's
- 47:07Speaker 4: why it hasn't been an issue. And I take a
- 47:09Speaker 4: little issue with the spirit of that text there, because
- 47:12Speaker 4: that's not we're do. The Democrats want to focus on
- 47:15Speaker 4: kitchen table issues. If you look at the bills that
- 47:17Speaker 4: I introduce, you look at the bills to delegate young introducers.
- 47:20Speaker 4: She has all sorts of bills addressing the childcare shortage
- 47:22Speaker 4: and the childcare crisis in this state. You know, I
- 47:26Speaker 4: have bills addressing healthcare issues. We have, you know, bills
- 47:29Speaker 4: that actually address real issues. That's what we want to
- 47:31Speaker 4: talk about. We don't set the agenda. We're not the
- 47:33Speaker 4: ones taking a recess for forty five minutes to pose
- 47:36Speaker 4: for pictures while we sign a meaningless bathroom bill. We
- 47:39Speaker 4: want to work.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Texas West Virginia Municipal League had a meeting scheduled with

- 47:53Speaker 2: Vote for trans people. Since the textra have been around
- 47:56Speaker 2: for a long time, we haven't had any issues. Trans
- 47:58Speaker 2: people are easy targets for a public to get some
- 48:01Speaker 2: hateful wins are and that's.
- 48:02Speaker 4: The part that bothers me. The most real people get
- 48:04Speaker 4: hurt where they have the runn these bills that are
- 48:06Speaker 4: always targeting the other. It's always targeting the other. I'd
- 48:09Speaker 4: like to see bills that unite us, things that we
- 48:11Speaker 4: can all agree on, that actually help our constituents, help
- 48:15Speaker 4: our friends and neighbors. That's what we're supposed to be doing,
- 48:17Speaker 4: not putting targets on people's back. At it like a
- 48:20Speaker 4: very small, tiny minority of people. We're gonna blame them
- 48:24Speaker 4: for all our problems, and that way people would ignore
- 48:26Speaker 4: the fact that Republicans don't really know how to govern.
- 48:29Speaker 4: It's the oldest trick in the book. It's called uniting
- 48:32Speaker 4: people against the common enemy, so they don't pay attention
- 48:35Speaker 4: to your own flaws. And that's what really upsets me
- 48:37Speaker 4: about though.

- 48:52Speaker 2: on the partisanship of judges? The Republicans ten years ago
- 48:56Speaker 2: wanted to get rid of partisanship. They wanted to were
- 48:59Speaker 2: all judges to be non partisan. Now they're coming back.
- 49:02Speaker 2: The Republicans are coming back and saying, well, hold on
- 49:04Speaker 2: a second.
- 49:05Speaker 4: First, when you asked me that question about the partisanship
- 49:07Speaker 4: of judges, I was thinking about that ruling I just
- 49:09Speaker 4: received yesterday. But no, I don't want to see it
- 49:12Speaker 4: any more partisan than it is right now. No, the
- 49:14Speaker 4: Republicans just passed this law. It seems like just a
- 49:17Speaker 4: few short years ago where they wanted to make judicial
- 49:20Speaker 4: races nonpartisan. There haven't been any issues. I don't know
- 49:25Speaker 4: what the problem that they're trying to address. I think
- 49:27Speaker 4: most people don't want to see partisan races, especially if
- 49:31Speaker 4: they're trying to exclude independence from voting in partisan primaries.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Then you're not even allow independence to vote on their judges,
- 49:39Speaker 4: which is another bill that I'm very much against, as
- 49:42Speaker 4: the one that would bar independence from voting in primaries.
- 49:45Speaker 4: I think that's up to the parties to decide. But no,
- 49:47Speaker 4: I think it's a big mistake to go back to
- 49:50Speaker 4: partisan judicial races. And it wasn't that long ago that
- 49:54Speaker 4: the Republicans were the ones that led the charge on
- 49:57Speaker 4: this bill. So what has changed?
- 49:59Speaker 2: Well, what I mean, one one of the delegates, one
- 50:01Speaker 2: of the legislators, I should say, made the comment about
- 50:04Speaker 2: liberal judges act liberal activist judges.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Who want if they want elections. I don't. I don't
- 50:10Speaker 4: know of any liberal activist judges here in West Virginia.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Day this is the supreme I mean, some would argue
- 50:16Speaker 2: with you on that mic, some would argue with it,
- 50:19Speaker 2: and there look, there may be some that argue on
- 50:21Speaker 2: the other side that say that we've got issues with concern.
- 50:23Speaker 2: I just want a judge to be a judge. And
- 50:25Speaker 2: my thing is is the legislature doesn't need to anybody.
- 50:29Speaker 2: You can look up anybody's party. You can you can
- 50:31Speaker 2: literally look up anybody's party already. And I don't understand
- 50:35Speaker 2: why this is such an issue suddenly when it wasn't
- 50:38Speaker 2: ten years ago, and it suddenly became an issue now.
- 50:41Speaker 2: You can look up anybody's party in West Virginia that
- 50:43Speaker 2: you want to correct. It's very simple.
- 50:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it's I don't understand what the problem is that
- 50:48Speaker 4: they're trying to address. I really don't. You know. I
- 50:52Speaker 4: don't always like the outcome of elections, but I don't
- 50:54Speaker 4: go back and try to change the law to uh
- 50:56Speaker 4: to overturn them or change the outcome. I live with it.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Texas, take unbreach all you want. But I used to
- 51:03Speaker 2: be a Democrat and a lot of us left you
- 51:05Speaker 2: all because of stuff like this.
- 51:06Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you what we're focused on, and it's
- 51:08Speaker 4: on issues that are going to actually help you, not
- 51:11Speaker 4: issues that seek to divide you and make you hate
- 51:15Speaker 4: your neighbor. We want people to love their neighbor, work together.
- 51:19Speaker 4: They can have access to healthcare if they get sick,
- 51:21Speaker 4: they can drive on good roads back and forth from work.
- 51:23Speaker 4: They can have access to childcare so they can get
- 51:26Speaker 4: to work. They can earn a living wage. Right, all
- 51:29Speaker 4: that good stuff, all right, that's what Democrats have always
- 51:32Speaker 4: been for.
