- 2:06Speaker 3: came down yesterday there would be no playoffs at all,
- 2:08Speaker 3: at least for now, which we kind of thought that
- 2:10Speaker 3: was what was going to happen. Well, it's official now.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Fred Persinger, who's practically now a co host of this
- 2:15Speaker 3: show because I've had him on so much, we'll join
- 2:17Speaker 3: us a little bit later on to discuss it. Yesterday, Governor,
- 2:20Speaker 3: like Patrick Morris, he had a pressure to announce how
- 2:22Speaker 3: he would transition into his new role and who will
- 2:24Speaker 3: accompany him. We'll talk to Stephen Allan Adams from Ogden
- 2:28Speaker 3: Newspapers about that. Plus do you like biscuits and gravy?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Everybody likes biscuits and gravy. You wouldn't be a real
- 2:33Speaker 3: West Virginian if you didn't. This Saturday Capitol Market there
- 2:36Speaker 3: is a Biscuits and Gravy Bowl. They're calling it. Joanna
- 2:39Speaker 3: Romeo as one of the organizers that she and one
- 2:42Speaker 3: of the other organizers, Woild, joined us to talk about
- 2:44Speaker 3: that big doings over at Capitol Market this Saturday morning. Puts,

- 3:00Speaker 3: Good morning, How are you?
- 3:01Speaker 5: Good morning? Good still, Delegate Kayla.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Young still still welcome, Welcome to our new abode.
- 3:06Speaker 5: It's nice here. Everyone that can't see it.
- 3:08Speaker 3: We're asking, well, you will be able to see it,
- 3:10Speaker 3: but after the first of the year, but we'll be
- 3:12Speaker 3: back in the old studio by then. Then we'll be
- 3:14Speaker 3: on television.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Good so far. Dave's wearing pants.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I am wearing pants. Yes, yes, I am
- 3:20Speaker 3: indeed wearing pants. So last week, congratulations on your win.
- 3:24Speaker 6: You return to the.
- 3:25Speaker 3: House to represent District fifty six. So talk about the
- 3:28Speaker 3: campaign overall. How was the campaign.
- 3:30Speaker 5: The campaign was a bit of a slog this year.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Is that a political term? A slog?
- 3:36Speaker 5: Yes?
- 3:36Speaker 7: Maybe very professional. This campaign was nat Mine was nastier
- 3:40Speaker 7: than it's ever been before. And I don't like that.
- 3:43Speaker 7: I like to get out and meet people and you know,
- 3:46Speaker 7: talk about transparency and honesty in the government, and it
- 3:49Speaker 7: was kind of nasty. So I'm glad it's over, but I'm.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Happy it was nasty about it. If you don't want my ask.
- 3:53Speaker 7: Lots of mailers against me that said things that just
- 3:56Speaker 7: weren't true. It's one thing for folks to attack my
- 3:59Speaker 7: record with things that don't agree with. That's fine, fair game,
- 4:01Speaker 7: but just saying things that weren't true, that I am
- 4:05Speaker 7: a danger to children, that I voted on bills that
- 4:07Speaker 7: I didn't vote on, just things that I don't you know,
- 4:11Speaker 7: I don't think are right.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Okay. So obviously you got in your mind the correct
- 4:16Speaker 3: message out to people, because you had an issue with
- 4:19Speaker 3: those messages. But you got because I mean, you got
- 4:22Speaker 3: a message out and it resonate with voters. Why why
- 4:24Speaker 3: did your message resonate so well with voters.
- 4:26Speaker 5: I think I meet.
- 4:27Speaker 7: Voters where they are, and I think I'm honest and transparent.
- 4:30Speaker 7: You know, I can't do everything, especially being in a
- 4:31Speaker 7: super minority, but I listen to people regardless of what
- 4:35Speaker 7: they think or what they agree with. Since I've looked
- 4:37Speaker 7: at the numbers, it's interesting to me that hundreds of
- 4:40Speaker 7: folks that voted for Trump also voted for me and
- 4:42Speaker 7: those It's clear and for a moment, I'd say at
- 4:46Speaker 7: least five or six hundred.
- 4:47Speaker 3: And you know, I heard I was talking to somebody
- 4:50Speaker 3: about this the other day. There is a lot of crossover. YEP,
- 4:53Speaker 3: with people and we know what, you know, the mega
- 4:58Speaker 3: whatever that Donald Trump is in West Virginia, the mega
- 5:00Speaker 3: MAGA in West Virginia. And I don't see that obviously
- 5:02Speaker 3: that we didn't nobody thought that was going to go
- 5:04Speaker 3: away this time around. Yeah, but there were not only
- 5:07Speaker 3: in your race, but the but the Hollis Lewis rights,
- 5:10Speaker 3: the Mike Pushkin rates. There were people that elected Democrats
- 5:14Speaker 3: or re elected them to the House that also voted
- 5:16Speaker 3: for Donald Trump.
- 5:17Speaker 7: A lot of tickets splitting. Yeah, and that's a nationwide thing.
- 5:20Speaker 7: I mean, state legislators overall barely changed the numbers completely.
- 5:23Speaker 7: And you know, so there's a lot of people that
- 5:26Speaker 7: overwhelmingly supported Donald Trump and me or and other Democrats,
- 5:30Speaker 7: and so you know, I don't want to alienate those people.
- 5:32Speaker 7: I want to listen to them too. I represent them also,
- 5:34Speaker 7: even if we don't agree on who should be the president,
- 5:37Speaker 7: it's still my job to represent them at the State House.
- 5:39Speaker 5: And that's what I'm going to keep doing.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Speaking of the state House, I know interims just wrapped up,
- 5:43Speaker 3: is that right? Anything you want to report from there?
- 5:46Speaker 7: We had a meeting on post audits yesterday about contract
- 5:48Speaker 7: nursing and it sounds like they suggested we sell most
- 5:51Speaker 7: of the long term care facilities in the state. The
- 5:53Speaker 7: most alarming thing from that meeting was finding out it
- 5:56Speaker 7: takes six hundred days to post a job.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I saw I think a million Ice League was the
- 6:01Speaker 3: person that I saw that that had posted on West
- 6:03Speaker 3: Virginia watch something about that on Twitter. Yes, why six.
- 6:08Speaker 7: Hundred days between when a vacancy is created and when
- 6:10Speaker 7: the job is actually posted?
- 6:12Speaker 3: Is that because there aren't enough people that want the
- 6:14Speaker 3: jobs or.
- 6:15Speaker 5: They're not even posted.
- 6:16Speaker 7: So that's something we're going That wasn't the focus of
- 6:20Speaker 7: the meeting. That just happened to be what came out
- 6:21Speaker 7: from the meeting. So we're going to have to get
- 6:23Speaker 7: more information. And Speaker Hanshaw did ask for more information,
- 6:25Speaker 7: but I mean.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna imagine that took everybody by surprise, right certain
- 6:29Speaker 3: across the aisle.
- 6:29Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it was just at the end of
- 6:31Speaker 7: the end of the report in a flow chart, and
- 6:32Speaker 7: I was and I asked, am I reading this right?
- 6:35Speaker 5: I can't.
- 6:35Speaker 7: This can't possibly be correct. It takes nearly two years
- 6:38Speaker 7: to post a job.
- 6:39Speaker 4: No way.
- 6:40Speaker 7: So hopefully that's something we can fix in the legislative
- 6:43Speaker 7: session coming up this February.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Well, and I want to get your take on the
- 6:46Speaker 3: upcoming session, but I need to take care of this.
- 6:48Speaker 3: So Dave Allen showing five eighty live brought to you
- 6:50Speaker 3: apart by Generations Physical Therapy offering, concussion care, pre and
- 6:54Speaker 3: post operative rehab, fall prevention, water therapy, Women's health workers
- 6:58Speaker 3: COMP and more. And they are the experts and treating
- 7:00Speaker 3: neck and back pain. For an appointment called three zero four, seven,
- 7:03Speaker 3: six zero fifty six to sixty year visit Generations PT
- 7:06Speaker 3: dot com. So what does the new session look like
- 7:09Speaker 3: when it gets here? And in the new year you
- 7:11Speaker 3: get a new governor? All the Board of Public Works
- 7:13Speaker 3: will be changed except for the Agriculture Commissioner. So you
- 7:18Speaker 3: picked up you'll have some new new comrades in there.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I should probably shouldn't say comrades because the Democrats often
- 7:24Speaker 3: get accused, but so do jb Acres and the you
- 7:26Speaker 3: know this time of being anyway, I'm getting off the
- 7:29Speaker 3: track here. What's the new year look like?
- 7:31Speaker 7: It's going to look like a lot of the same
- 7:33Speaker 7: in the House, I think, I mean, we're going to
- 7:34Speaker 7: have about a dozen new members.
- 7:36Speaker 5: I think the House went from.
- 7:37Speaker 7: Eighty nine to eleven to ninety one to two, so
- 7:40Speaker 7: things don't change a massive amount with that number. So
- 7:43Speaker 7: we'll see. I think there'll be a lot of different
- 7:45Speaker 7: priorities of this new gubernatorial administration, at least that's what
- 7:48Speaker 7: we're seeing. A lot of different priorities, some of which
- 7:51Speaker 7: I agree with wholeheartedly. I want to get rid of
- 7:53Speaker 7: waste in government. I'm worried for a lot of the
- 7:57Speaker 7: folks that are probably going to lose their job as
- 7:59Speaker 7: a result.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Do you see that happening? You see a lot of people.
- 8:02Speaker 7: I mean I think, yeah, I think so. I think
- 8:04Speaker 7: cutting spending and cutting waste means you have to get
- 8:06Speaker 7: rid of a lot of jobs, and some of those
- 8:08Speaker 7: probably might need to go. But I just hope there's
- 8:11Speaker 7: a plan for those folks. But yeah, I think we
- 8:14Speaker 7: should have an efficient government that works six hundred days
- 8:16Speaker 7: to post a job in it.
- 8:18Speaker 5: So you know, I'm cautiously optimistic.
- 8:23Speaker 3: One of the criticisms of former well he's still governor now,
- 8:28Speaker 3: but he's now the US Senator elect Jim Justice, was
- 8:31Speaker 3: that many people said he just was not engaged, and
- 8:35Speaker 3: especially in the legislative process. He either wasn't there or
- 8:38Speaker 3: maybe send other people or so on and so forth.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I know both people on both sides of the isle
- 8:43Speaker 3: have said that, so I'm not just speaking for the Democrats.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Republicans have said that as well. Are you anticipating that
- 8:49Speaker 3: to change with now, Governor like Patrick Morrison?
- 8:51Speaker 7: Well, I saw photos of all the new they're doing
- 8:53Speaker 7: orientation at the United States Senate and House this week,
- 8:56Speaker 7: So all the new members and members elect are there,
- 8:58Speaker 7: even the ones that contested races that aren't decided yet
- 9:01Speaker 7: are there in Washington.
- 9:02Speaker 5: In Washington, d C.
- 9:03Speaker 7: There was a photo of all the new Republican Senators
- 9:05Speaker 7: with Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senator elect Justice was not
- 9:10Speaker 7: in the photograph. Yeah, so I hope he'll show up,
- 9:13Speaker 7: and especially if it's going to be a pretty tight Senate.
- 9:15Speaker 7: You know, West Virginia needs solid representation regardless of party.
- 9:19Speaker 7: So I hope he'll show up, have super high hopes.
- 9:22Speaker 7: I also think he's gonna commute, and I don't know
- 9:25Speaker 7: how you do that from Louisbourg.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Well, I have been told by some people that he's
- 9:31Speaker 3: not going to be on committees in Washington, and again,
- 9:35Speaker 3: you're right, he was a no show for one reason
- 9:37Speaker 3: or another yesterday for the for the photo opportunity. I
- 9:40Speaker 3: do understand he was at the Capitol law a photo. Yeah,
- 9:42Speaker 3: he was there, but he was also from what we're told.
- 9:45Speaker 3: When I'm told I was told baby dog cannot come.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess somebody made a joke about it. Bertie
- 9:50Speaker 5: Moreno made it, Bernie.
- 9:51Speaker 7: But then apparently he like followed up with like no,
- 9:54Speaker 7: but really, will she be there?
- 9:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we're But what about the Morrissey administration? You
- 9:59Speaker 3: you anticipate that the governor like Morrisey will be somebody
- 10:02Speaker 3: more engaged.
- 10:03Speaker 7: Oh, absolutely, yeah. I mean he works in the government,
- 10:05Speaker 7: he shows up, he does his job. I think he'll
- 10:07Speaker 7: absolutely be very engaged. Whether I like it or not
- 10:09Speaker 7: remains to be seen. But I do think he'll be there,
- 10:12Speaker 7: and I think he knows the legislative process. I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 7: we went through eight years of justice where we got
- 10:17Speaker 7: bills the very last day to get them from them,
- 10:20Speaker 7: So I think that will be a very positive change.
- 10:23Speaker 3: What are you anticipating What do you want to see
- 10:26Speaker 3: get done? Obviously, foster care, the childcare crisis, crisises in general.
- 10:33Speaker 3: What are some of the other things for the new
- 10:34Speaker 3: session that you hope we'll get tackled.
- 10:36Speaker 7: I hope we figure out something with Pia. I'm hearing
- 10:38Speaker 7: from hundreds and hundreds of folks that they're very worried
- 10:41Speaker 7: about their pea growing up. I know there's the road
- 10:43Speaker 7: show going on this week where folks can listen, can
- 10:46Speaker 7: show up and voice their concerns with the raising deductibles
- 10:48Speaker 7: and premiums. So I know we had a bill on
- 10:50Speaker 7: that a while ago. But I'm also hoping we just
- 10:53Speaker 7: do a lot less social issues and a lot more
- 10:55Speaker 7: actual helping folks and you know, focusing on things that
- 10:58Speaker 7: make people's lives better, because we haven't done a lot
- 11:00Speaker 7: of that in the past.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Get Kaylee Young, congratulations again on your win. I want
- 11:04Speaker 3: to give, as I do with all my candidates, I
- 11:06Speaker 3: want to back away and give you a little bit
- 11:08Speaker 3: of time to do all the thanking and the high
- 11:10Speaker 3: fiving and whatever else you want to do during your time,
- 11:12Speaker 3: because I know nobody is JV and Acres and I
- 11:15Speaker 3: talked about this yesterday. Nobody nobody runs alone. If you're running,
- 11:18Speaker 3: it involves spouses if you have them, It involves kids,
- 11:21Speaker 3: and involves neighbors and friends and so on and so forth.
- 11:24Speaker 3: So I'll give you an opportunity to thank whoever you want.
- 11:26Speaker 7: I mean, I just want to thank the folks of
- 11:28Speaker 7: Houses three fifty six and the folks all around the
- 11:30Speaker 7: state and the country that helped me win my reelection.
- 11:33Speaker 7: It certainly has never ever, ever done alone, and ever
- 11:36Speaker 7: I can't do this by myself, and I'm just thankful
- 11:38Speaker 7: to everyone who voted for me and who's taking a
- 11:41Speaker 7: chance on me, regardless of who they vote for for president. Right.
- 11:44Speaker 7: So I'm just excited to get back in there and
- 11:46Speaker 7: keep bringing a lot of transparency and accountability to our government.
- 11:50Speaker 3: All right, Well, we wish you the best. You're a
- 11:52Speaker 3: frequent to flyer here on the show, so we'll have
- 11:55Speaker 3: you on any time, anytime that you want. Do you
- 11:58Speaker 3: like biscuits and gravy?
- 11:59Speaker 5: I love biscuits.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Did they bring an I don't know. I haven't seen
- 12:02Speaker 3: one of the folks gonna be on was in the
- 12:04Speaker 3: green room. I don't know that Joanna is here yet,
- 12:06Speaker 3: but she's on our way. You're planning on coming to
- 12:07Speaker 3: Capitol Market this Saturday.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Probably, Yeah, there's going to be a Biscuits Day.
- 12:10Speaker 3: It's the Biscuits and Gravy Bowl. They're calling it eight.
- 12:13Speaker 3: It's a competition. It's just like the mac and cheese
- 12:15Speaker 3: and like all these others. I'll learn more about it
- 12:17Speaker 3: in the next segment. But it's all biscuits and gravy
- 12:20Speaker 3: at Capitol Market eight thirty a m. On Saturday morning,
- 12:23Speaker 3: I delegate, because somebody's got to step up to the plate.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Have been asked to be a judge. That's a fun
- 12:29Speaker 3: Biscuits and gravy. You know growing You know they get
- 12:31Speaker 3: the kid from Logan that grew up Free Will Baptist.
- 12:33Speaker 5: You know, you know what you're doing.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right, I know what I'm doing. So hopefully
- 12:38Speaker 3: I'll see you there as well. Okay, all right, Delegate
- 12:40Speaker 3: Kaylee Young, but Dave Allen showing five any line brought
- 12:42Speaker 3: to you a part by your hometown baseball team, the
- 12:44Speaker 3: Charleston Dirty Birds. Here's something else I know you're excited about. Uh,
- 12:46Speaker 3: the Selango Lull Light the night opens up Friday night ballpark. Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 3: they got a little VIP thing going tomorrow night and
- 12:53Speaker 3: then they open to the public on Friday night. They're saying,
- 12:57Speaker 3: I talked to Jay Silverman the other day, a whole
- 12:59Speaker 3: lot more lights than what they've even had in the past.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You can get your tickets early. Highly recommended that you
- 13:04Speaker 3: do so at Dblightthnight dot com. I'm sure you and
- 13:07Speaker 3: the family will be there a few times, right.
- 13:08Speaker 7: I think I saw they have five hundred thousand more
- 13:11Speaker 7: lights this year than last year. And if you didn't
- 13:13Speaker 7: get there last year, it is fantastic. It's a winter wonderland.
- 13:16Speaker 7: It is so much fun.
- 13:17Speaker 3: It is such a big thing for Charleston now because
- 13:20Speaker 3: I mean people are coming. You go ahead and add
- 13:22Speaker 3: that with Regatta and with all these other things we
- 13:24Speaker 3: have going on here in the Canal Valley. Kayla, I
- 13:26Speaker 3: defintely get young. I appreciate you being here. We'll talk
- 13:29Speaker 3: against soon we're top biscuits and gravy and if there
- 13:30Speaker 3: are samples hang out. And also, I know, I promise
- 13:33Speaker 3: I'm gonna let you go. You had some questions you
- 13:36Speaker 3: post on social media about this whole whole mess with
- 13:38Speaker 3: the high school playoff situation.
- 13:39Speaker 5: That's right.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I told you go talk to Uncle Fred upstairs. Fred
- 13:43Speaker 3: got your schooled a little bit of what's going on.
- 13:45Speaker 7: Yes, do you want my easy version? Okay, I think
- 13:48Speaker 7: we're blaming the SSAC, but they're not. It's those are
- 13:50Speaker 7: four people that just work there. It's the people that
- 13:53Speaker 7: are controlling them, that are the administrators, that are the
- 13:55Speaker 7: ones actually making these decisions.
- 13:57Speaker 5: That's what it sounds like.
- 13:58Speaker 7: It also sounds like we need to go back to
- 14:00Speaker 7: three classes and not change the rules midway.
- 14:03Speaker 5: I just feel bad for these kids.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and Fred and now are going to talk
- 14:07Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on. But I'm glad,
- 14:09Speaker 3: glad you got to sit down with friends. All right,
- 14:11Speaker 3: all right, we'll take a break. It's nine twenty one.
- 14:13Speaker 3: We're back after this on the Voice of Charleston WCHS.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Brought to you by the Eric Jtar Family Businesses. Eric

- 18:01Speaker 3: born with the love for biscuits and gravy. This Saturday
- 18:04Speaker 3: Capital Market, the love of biscuits and gravy will be celebrated.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Tom mcveag and Joanna Romeo or some of the folks
- 18:09Speaker 3: that having to organize the biscuits and gravy bowls Saturday
- 18:12Speaker 3: morning Capital Market and they join us now. Joanna, I'll
- 18:15Speaker 3: start with you, Good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning,
- 18:17Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Tom, good morning to you
- 18:19Speaker 3: as well.
- 18:19Speaker 10: Good morning.
- 18:20Speaker 3: So I'll let either one. I'm you know, this very
- 18:22Speaker 3: informal interview because my mind's on biscuits and gravy all
- 18:25Speaker 3: right now, So what is it in your in your
- 18:28Speaker 3: gays opinion that makes biscuits and gravy so popular? Just
- 18:33Speaker 3: the I think the tradition, the comfort food comfort food,
- 18:37Speaker 3: that's what that's the term. I was going to use
- 18:39Speaker 3: Tom's comfort food because we all grew up with it,
- 18:41Speaker 3: you know, and Joanna you would agree with that as well.
- 18:44Speaker 11: Yeah, you had me at gravy.
- 18:45Speaker 5: I mean that's where it sturts for me.
- 18:48Speaker 3: You had me at gravy.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I like that.
- 18:50Speaker 3: So what exactly is going to be going on at
- 18:51Speaker 3: Capitol Market on Saturday morning? Starts at eight thirty give
- 18:54Speaker 3: us the rundown.
- 18:54Speaker 11: Yeah, So it'll be from a thirty to ten forty
- 18:57Speaker 11: five food taste scenes with nine different contenders. We have
- 19:00Speaker 11: restaurants such as Bar one oh one, Bogies at the
- 19:03Speaker 11: Capitol Island Food Shop, just to give you a few,
- 19:06Speaker 11: and then we also have other groups participating, So there's
- 19:08Speaker 11: gonna be more than just biscuits and gravy at this
- 19:10Speaker 11: event too.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Now, will it be divided up or just how's the judging?
- 19:14Speaker 3: Is it going to be an overall winner?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Is there? Is it?
- 19:17Speaker 3: Are you dividing up between the quote unquote amateurs and professionals?
- 19:20Speaker 3: How does it work?
- 19:21Speaker 11: So this year we're just going to do all one
- 19:23Speaker 11: category and the judges are gonna have top two and
- 19:26Speaker 11: then we're gonna have People's Choice Top three and Kids'
- 19:28Speaker 11: Choice Top three?
- 19:29Speaker 3: So how will people take part in this is their
- 19:31Speaker 3: ticketing process or how does that work?
- 19:33Speaker 10: You know that when the folks come in, they'll buy
- 19:37Speaker 10: a wristband and then they'll be able to go to
- 19:39Speaker 10: all of the different vendors and as far as voting,
- 19:42Speaker 10: they'll have a chip in their pocket and they'll be
- 19:45Speaker 10: able to vote for the vendor of their choice.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Okay, all right, and it's the first year for this,
- 19:51Speaker 3: right correct, First, are whose idea was it? And how
- 19:54Speaker 3: did this whole thing come about?
- 19:55Speaker 5: So it was my idea.
- 19:56Speaker 11: I'm from Ashland, Kentucky. So back in twenty nineteen, I
- 19:59Speaker 11: participated it an event. I didn't have to work it,
- 20:01Speaker 11: so I was like, oh, this is a great event
- 20:03Speaker 11: and everybody loves breakfast feeds and I've been an event
- 20:06Speaker 11: planning for seven years, so it's something I wanted to
- 20:08Speaker 11: always kind of do and try out to you. So
- 20:09Speaker 11: I'm like, you can't go wrong with fundraising and doing
- 20:11Speaker 11: biscuits and gravy.
- 20:12Speaker 3: So roughly and again, we're on radio, so we're trying
- 20:15Speaker 3: to get a mental picture here. When somebody buys their
- 20:17Speaker 3: tickets or they get their chip, or whatever. I mean,
- 20:20Speaker 3: what size serving are we talking here? Just like a
- 20:22Speaker 3: sample size and then they can go to the different ones.
- 20:24Speaker 3: How's that gonna be.
- 20:25Speaker 11: Yeah, it's gonna be two ounce servings and so we're
- 20:28Speaker 11: gonna be sorry. So they'll have nine different contenders to
- 20:32Speaker 11: go and so vote that way with two ounces.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Okay, okay again, it's all this. Saturday starts at eight thirty.

- 20:57Speaker 3: in this competition. I've judged chili numerous times. I've judged
- 21:01Speaker 3: mac and cheese over a Capital market, I've judged desserts.
- 21:05Speaker 3: This is the first time I've ever judged a biscuits
- 21:07Speaker 3: and gravy competition.
- 21:08Speaker 10: Awesome.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I'm excited to be here. I'm excited to be there.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I'm I'm already training. I'm already planning it. Because the
- 21:14Speaker 3: thing about about biscuits and gravy is there's so many
- 21:17Speaker 3: It's just like any other food and apple. Actually, there's
- 21:19Speaker 3: so many different ways to do it. Some people prefer
- 21:21Speaker 3: the spicy or very very very peppery. Even the colors
- 21:25Speaker 3: change because some of us the classic white gravy and
- 21:28Speaker 3: some of it tends to be a little bit more brown.
- 21:30Speaker 3: There's red eye gravy made with coffee grounds. I mean,
- 21:33Speaker 3: there's so many different ways to do this.
- 21:37Speaker 10: One of the unique things that we know one of
- 21:39Speaker 10: the vendors is going to have is a chocolate gravy.
- 21:43Speaker 3: I've actually heard of that. I don't think I've ever
- 21:44Speaker 3: had chocolate gravy. So, I mean, is it just as
- 21:46Speaker 3: the name implies, Tom, it's just got chocolate in it,
- 21:49Speaker 3: or it has chocolate.
- 21:50Speaker 10: Now I don't know the ingredients, but it sounds interesting.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Well, let's talk about the charitable aspect of this, because
- 21:56Speaker 3: I mean, it's one thing to get all your friends
- 21:58Speaker 3: together to eat biscuits and gravy. I mean, heck yeah,
- 21:59Speaker 3: I'm okay, but this is a whole charitable thing that
- 22:03Speaker 3: you're doing to raise a little money, talk about that.
- 22:06Speaker 10: So we're raising funds to assist our church, Southward.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Church, the south Ridge Church is name the church Okay,
- 22:11Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 22:12Speaker 10: And it's to help us continue to provide and grow
- 22:15Speaker 10: the ways that we serve the Canal Valley communities of
- 22:17Speaker 10: the Canal Valley and we do a number of programs
- 22:20Speaker 10: that we're involved with the Women's Addiction Recovery Center in Charleston.
- 22:24Speaker 10: We provide meals for one hundred and twenty five plus
- 22:27Speaker 10: families at Christmas for two weeks for those kids that
- 22:32Speaker 10: otherwise may not have meals. So they're just some of
- 22:34Speaker 10: the ways we call that impact schools. We also partner
- 22:37Speaker 10: with the Bread of Life food pantry in Southridge, So
- 22:42Speaker 10: there's some of the ministries that we And.
- 22:44Speaker 11: One cool thing is game Day for University of Charleston.
- 22:46Speaker 11: We provide meals for families and players on every home
- 22:49Speaker 11: game and then we pack treat bags for away games too,
- 22:52Speaker 11: So that's something cool we do.
- 22:53Speaker 3: And this kind of of an event of this magnitude
- 22:56Speaker 3: could not be done without sponsors. And I know you've
- 22:58Speaker 3: got some sponsors here. If you got a list there,
- 23:00Speaker 3: you might want to go and give and go ahead
- 23:01Speaker 3: and give them a shout out.
- 23:02Speaker 11: Yes, So we want to thank Berkshire Hathway Home Services,
- 23:05Speaker 11: in COVID Insurance, ZMM Architect, ELK City Auto Camel Technologies,
- 23:11Speaker 11: John Locks, Key lineex of Nitro, TJC, Rooffine, Warner Law Office, Depiro, Simmons, Soprani,
- 23:19Speaker 11: and Warner.
- 23:21Speaker 5: So those are a list of our sponsors for this year.
- 23:23Speaker 3: All right, and let's talk about you said you had
- 23:25Speaker 3: some other vendors there. Get talk about some of the
- 23:27Speaker 3: other vendors that are going to because there may be
- 23:29Speaker 3: somebody that shows up at this thing, although I find
- 23:31Speaker 3: this very hard to believe and they're probably godless communists
- 23:35Speaker 3: that let's say I don't like biscuits and gravy. You
- 23:37Speaker 3: got other things going on?
- 23:38Speaker 2: We do.
- 23:39Speaker 5: So we have the Island Food Shop.
- 23:40Speaker 11: We'll have a Jamaican style porridge there.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Wait, porridge, Yes, Jamaican style porridge.
- 23:46Speaker 10: Okay, I've never had it.
- 23:47Speaker 3: I've never outside of the Three Bears or whatever it was,
- 23:50Speaker 3: I've never had porridge either.
- 23:51Speaker 12: So go ahead, and then Tom, you can talk about
- 23:54Speaker 12: the one we have one that is what we call
- 23:58Speaker 12: Church of Goot Potatoes or that is a kind of
- 24:02Speaker 12: a hash brown casserole type.
- 24:06Speaker 10: Food and it's very good. We've been using it for
- 24:09Speaker 10: quite a while.
- 24:10Speaker 4: I mean.
- 24:10Speaker 11: And another one is Tickers and Timbers are bringing a
- 24:13Speaker 11: charcooterie board, so she's gonna have a variety of different
- 24:15Speaker 11: breakfast sandpoints.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Because he's gonna be like a breakfast theme board. Yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 3: I mean, okay, well that's gonna be interesting to see.
- 24:21Speaker 3: That's the thing about breakfast foods, man, there's just so
- 24:23Speaker 3: many different different things that that you can you can do.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And I'll tell a quick story. When I was in college,
- 24:28Speaker 3: a friend of mine who was from Oklahoma, went to
- 24:30Speaker 3: Marshall with me, and he came home with me for
- 24:33Speaker 3: the for the weekend and my mother we were leaving
- 24:36Speaker 3: on Sunday morning. My mother said, I'll get to make
- 24:38Speaker 3: you guys a big breakfast. And my mother made you know,
- 24:41Speaker 3: the traditional biscuits and gravy fored potatoes, but she also
- 24:44Speaker 3: made eggs with pork chops. And my friend Mark, who
- 24:48Speaker 3: you know, as I said, was from Oklahoma, you would
- 24:50Speaker 3: think differences aren't that much. He's like, you're eating pork
- 24:53Speaker 3: chops for breakfast. I was like, you should see when
- 24:54Speaker 3: we have baloney for breakfast, you know, that's that's a
- 24:56Speaker 3: southern West Virginian coming out with me. It's gonna be
- 24:59Speaker 3: a lot of fun and against for a great, great cause. Again,
- 25:01Speaker 3: explain the time, and of course it's all at Capital
- 25:04Speaker 3: Market eight thirty am. I'm going to be there representing
- 25:07Speaker 3: our sister station ninety eight seven of the Mountain. I'm
- 25:09Speaker 3: going to be one of the judges. I'm looking forward
- 25:11Speaker 3: to it, but just kind of give us the overall
- 25:12Speaker 3: view of people are just tuned them.
- 25:15Speaker 11: Yeah, so contenders will be setting up a seven thirty
- 25:18Speaker 11: that morning, and then it'll start at eight thirty, and
- 25:21Speaker 11: then at ten forty five we'll do the token counting
- 25:24Speaker 11: and then between eleven and leven fifteen roun announce all
- 25:26Speaker 11: the winners and then the it'll probably end around eleven thirty.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Okay, And again because I know a lot of folks
- 25:31Speaker 3: on Saturday got a lot of things to do that
- 25:33Speaker 3: it's not going to take up your whole day either.
- 25:34Speaker 3: You know, you can go enjoy some biscuits and gravy
- 25:36Speaker 3: for a great cause and then go on about your
- 25:38Speaker 3: day and get into college football or whatever else it
- 25:40Speaker 3: is that you're at. But it won't be high school
- 25:42Speaker 3: football playoffs. We know that, so I'll talk about Fred
- 25:44Speaker 3: a little bit later on. Tom and Joanne. I really
- 25:47Speaker 3: appreciate you guys being here, looking forward to seeing you
- 25:49Speaker 3: both on Saturday. Thank you, thank you, thanks hanging out

- 29:22Speaker 3: was a picture that was sent to me from the
- 29:24Speaker 3: Cissonville Fire Department and the caption is despite the ongoing
- 29:28Speaker 3: drought conditions in our area, we have not stopped providing
- 29:31Speaker 3: water for livestock. Our main station now has a fire
- 29:34Speaker 3: hydrant available for farmers to use to provide water for
- 29:37Speaker 3: their livestock and the Texter who sent this to me again,
- 29:40Speaker 3: this is from the Cistonville Fire Department, says Dave had
- 29:42Speaker 3: to share this post. I wish all our stations could
- 29:44Speaker 3: help like this. Bless you all the folks at the
- 29:46Speaker 3: Cissonville Fire Department, says a Texter. Coming up with tomorrow's show,
- 29:49Speaker 3: the Stelango Law Light The Night begins Friday night at
- 29:52Speaker 3: goldmart Ballpark. Some of the people that are making that
- 29:55Speaker 3: all possible, including the folks with the team with the
- 29:58Speaker 3: dirty birds that occupy Gore Ballpark, they're going to join
- 30:01Speaker 3: us on the show tomorrow for a little bit of
- 30:02Speaker 3: a preview. Plus, we've all wondered what it's going to
- 30:05Speaker 3: be like when Governor Jim Justice officially becomes Senator Jim
- 30:08Speaker 3: Justice and he and baby dog head off to Washington.
- 30:10Speaker 3: We learned yesterday apparently a baby dog. I'm sure we'll
- 30:14Speaker 3: be there, but it's not going to be allowed apparently
- 30:17Speaker 3: inside the Capitol. Well, a local person, Sarah O'Connor, has
- 30:21Speaker 3: written a book about that very subject, about baby Dog
- 30:25Speaker 3: going to Washington, and it's a kid's book and it's
- 30:28Speaker 3: for charity, but it's meant not so much from what
- 30:30Speaker 3: I understand or reading the synopsis, not necessarily meant to
- 30:33Speaker 3: talk about baby dog per se, but to teach kids
- 30:36Speaker 3: about government and how government works and so on and
- 30:38Speaker 3: so forth. So she's going to join us on the
- 30:39Speaker 3: show tomorrow. Socomen Stephen Allen Adams of Ogden Newspaper, Stephen,
- 30:43Speaker 3: good morning, So let's start. Letna start hot here. I'm
- 30:46Speaker 3: gonna come off the top rope with this one. You
- 30:48Speaker 3: tell me you make pretty mean biscuits and gravy.
- 30:51Speaker 15: I well, I can't make biscuits to save my life.
- 30:53Speaker 15: That's what Pillsbury is for. But my sausage gravy is excellent.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I have to. I'll have to take you
- 31:02Speaker 3: up on an offer you didn't offer, but well yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 3: I think you just did uh at some point. All right,
- 31:07Speaker 3: So there's a lot of things I want to talk
- 31:10Speaker 3: to you about. You know, I was thinking about this yesterday.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Someone who shall remain nameless, but someone who's known in
- 31:17Speaker 3: political circles in West Virginia told me that we the
- 31:21Speaker 3: people who cover this stuff, you I other, you know, Brad,
- 31:24Speaker 3: that people that are that do and I don't necessarily
- 31:26Speaker 3: cover it. I'm not a journalists like you. Guys do.
- 31:28Speaker 3: But I come on the show and talk about it.
- 31:30Speaker 3: We may be reading too much into the how focused
- 31:34Speaker 3: will Jim Justice be in DC? Thing? Because truth be told,
- 31:37Speaker 3: and I mentioned this with Delegate Young earlier, he really
- 31:40Speaker 3: doesn't have to be there a lot. We're used to
- 31:44Speaker 3: seeing a Joe Mansion or Robert Byrd back in the day,
- 31:46Speaker 3: or Shelley Moore Capito being there pretty much all the time.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I am told though, that Senator Justice can show up
- 31:52Speaker 3: for a few votes and go back to Greenbrier County.
- 31:54Speaker 3: I also told he's not going to be on any committees. Uh,
- 31:57Speaker 3: And I guess we're just maybe used to seeing a
- 31:59Speaker 3: mansion or a kind of being overachievers there. But it
- 32:02Speaker 3: really doesn't have to be your thought.
- 32:04Speaker 15: Well, I think that's I think that's right. I mean again,
- 32:08Speaker 15: I've shadowed both Senators Mansion and Capital around the Capitol.
- 32:11Speaker 15: I know the schedules that they keep on a daily basis.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I know who they meet with.
- 32:16Speaker 15: I know they're running back and forth between the office
- 32:20Speaker 15: buildings and the Capitol, the Senate Chamber all at You
- 32:23Speaker 15: can do it that way, but that's just two people
- 32:27Speaker 15: I followed. I don't know how every member of the
- 32:29Speaker 15: US Senate operates, and I'm sure that there are some
- 32:31Speaker 15: that aren't that hard hitting at all. I mean you
- 32:36Speaker 15: could probably there are probably US senators you can think
- 32:40Speaker 15: of or not think of right now, Like we hear
- 32:43Speaker 15: the people that are most active, but there's US senators.
- 32:45Speaker 15: I probably couldn't pick out a liance. Yeah, Jim Justice.
- 32:48Speaker 15: I suspect it's going to be one of those. It's
- 32:50Speaker 15: not that he's not going to do anything, but right
- 32:54Speaker 15: he can show up for certain votes. I have a
- 32:57Speaker 15: feeling he will be there for certainly the important key votes.
- 33:02Speaker 15: We'll see if he's on committees or not. He had
- 33:04Speaker 15: said that he wanted to basically be on the same
- 33:06Speaker 15: committees that Mansion was on, which was Energy and also appropriations.
- 33:11Speaker 15: Appropriations is pretty hard for a freshman senator to get on.
- 33:15Speaker 3: That's the big dog is, they say, or at least
- 33:17Speaker 3: one of.
- 33:18Speaker 15: That's right, like Senator Capito is on appropriate Appropriations and
- 33:21Speaker 15: Manshin is too. That probably won't happen, but I do
- 33:24Speaker 15: think that he can certainly still play a role in
- 33:28Speaker 15: in voting and do what he needs to do in
- 33:30Speaker 15: that regard, So I would say that's correct.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I had Senator Capito on the show on Monday. And
- 33:37Speaker 3: I don't know how he had her on last week,
- 33:38Speaker 3: but she was on this show one Monday. And she's
- 33:40Speaker 3: coming away with this, in this whole change up in
- 33:44Speaker 3: the adding new people whatever, Stephen, She's she's coming away
- 33:47Speaker 3: in a pretty good position. Here is Senator capitol.
- 33:49Speaker 15: Oh, huge, huge position. I mean, not only is she
- 33:52Speaker 15: going to get a major committee assignment, being chair of
- 33:56Speaker 15: the Environment of Public Works Committee, which is she's been
- 33:59Speaker 15: the ranking Republican for a long time, and she's had
- 34:01Speaker 15: a pretty good collaborative relationship with the chairman Democratic chairman
- 34:05Speaker 15: of that committee for some time, so she's gotten things
- 34:08Speaker 15: done even as a Republican there. But yeah, huge, huge
- 34:11Speaker 15: opportunity there. And as I've talked to her about this
- 34:16Speaker 15: several times, but she is going to be number four
- 34:19Speaker 15: in the leadership of the Republican majority. She's going to
- 34:22Speaker 15: be chairing the major Senate Republican policy committee that's more
- 34:28Speaker 15: or less a caucus committee, and that puts her in
- 34:32Speaker 15: a really good position. She's someone that works really hard,
- 34:35Speaker 15: she doesn't seek the limelight. She's very responsive to press,
- 34:38Speaker 15: you know, I always like that sort of thing, and
- 34:42Speaker 15: she brings back money and opportunities for the state of
- 34:45Speaker 15: West Virginia, just like Senator Manchin has during his tenure
- 34:49Speaker 15: in the US Senate. So she's got a really good
- 34:52Speaker 15: opportunity to really help the state of West Virginia both
- 34:57Speaker 15: leading a major committee and being in the leadership of
- 35:01Speaker 15: the Senate Republican Caucus.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Now, let's face it, when you're in Washington, Steven, I mean,
- 35:04Speaker 3: you're gonna be asked to obviously to vote on a
- 35:06Speaker 3: lot of important stuff. That's why you're there. But primarily,
- 35:09Speaker 3: if somebody asks you what your main goal is, whether
- 35:12Speaker 3: you're in the Senate or in the House or whatever,
- 35:14Speaker 3: your main goal is to get money and get services
- 35:17Speaker 3: and do good for your state. That's why you're there.
- 35:20Speaker 3: That's why although people criticize Robert Bird, and they've criticized
- 35:23Speaker 3: Mansion at time to time, and I don't care what
- 35:25Speaker 3: the party is. That's your job is to get things
- 35:28Speaker 3: back to West Virginia. That's why you're there.
- 35:30Speaker 15: Oh, I mean, we can joke, and we do joke
- 35:32Speaker 15: all the time about how many things are named after
- 35:34Speaker 15: Robert C. Bird. We have a big statute form in
- 35:38Speaker 15: the West Virginia legislature. They talk about removing it all
- 35:41Speaker 15: the time. We'll see if that happens, but we can
- 35:44Speaker 15: joke about that.
- 35:44Speaker 10: But he delivered.
- 35:46Speaker 15: Not only did he deliver, but he served in leadership
- 35:49Speaker 15: roles majority leader, minority leader. I mean, he really did
- 35:54Speaker 15: benefit the state of West Virginia during his time there.
- 36:00Speaker 15: I think you can and keep in mind he was
- 36:02Speaker 15: one of the low longest serving US senator in US history.
- 36:06Speaker 15: Obviously Mansion is not going to reach that type of tenure,
- 36:09Speaker 15: and I would imagine obviously Senator Capital isn't either. But
- 36:13Speaker 15: they also have an opportunity to do similar things, and
- 36:16Speaker 15: that's the goal. Yeah, you want to serve your country,
- 36:19Speaker 15: but you're a representative for your district and you want
- 36:21Speaker 15: to try to make deals with your fellow lawmakers that
- 36:24Speaker 15: will benefit your state.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Steven al Adams of Ogden Newspapers is here Older adults
- 36:29Speaker 3: would protect themselves against severe respiratory disease. Talk to your
- 36:32Speaker 3: doctor about flu, COVID nineteen and RSV vaccines risk less
- 36:35Speaker 3: do more get started at vaccines dot gov. Paper by
- 36:38Speaker 3: the US Department of Health and Human Services. All Right,
- 36:41Speaker 3: so yesterday Steven Governor elect Morrissey current Attorney General now governor,
- 36:44Speaker 3: like Morrissey had a presser to discuss the folks that
- 36:47Speaker 3: will lead him into the governor's office, the transition team,
- 36:50Speaker 3: if you will, what can you tell us?
- 36:52Speaker 8: Oh?
- 36:52Speaker 10: Sure, I kind of got a preview of this.
- 36:54Speaker 15: I had a good conversation with Governor elect Morrissey Friday
- 36:58Speaker 15: in anticipation of this conference that they did yesterday morning.
- 37:03Speaker 15: So they've announced their transition leaders co leaders, which includes
- 37:07Speaker 15: a number of people that you're going to recognize, such
- 37:09Speaker 15: as House Majority Leader, a householder he ran for Republican
- 37:13Speaker 15: state auditor, lost that race, but has a lot of
- 37:16Speaker 15: experience in the legislature, including on the Finance Committee. Conrad Lucas,
- 37:21Speaker 15: the former chairman of the State Republican Party now a
- 37:24Speaker 15: very active lobbyist. He's going to be on there. Doug Buffington,
- 37:29Speaker 15: who's been a Deputy Attorney General, also a former staff
- 37:32Speaker 15: member and in the Department of Revenue, State Department of Revenue.
- 37:35Speaker 15: So those are just a few of the names that
- 37:37Speaker 15: are going to be on that leadership team. Now, they're
- 37:39Speaker 15: going to put together landing teams to start looking at
- 37:42Speaker 15: public policy issues. These landing teams will also look at
- 37:46Speaker 15: state departments and agencies and how they can be changed
- 37:50Speaker 15: or updated and that.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Sort of thing.
- 37:53Speaker 15: They're going to announce department heads, governor appointments, that sort
- 37:57Speaker 15: of thing over the next less than two months. And
- 38:02Speaker 15: on top of that, they want to have an ambitious
- 38:04Speaker 15: public policy legislative agenda for the first one hundred days
- 38:09Speaker 15: when the legislature ultimately meets in February, so they they
- 38:12Speaker 15: are going to make some substantial changes to how state
- 38:16Speaker 15: government operates. So it's a very ambitious schedule. But you
- 38:20Speaker 15: know Morrissey and you've covered him and talked to him.
- 38:22Speaker 15: I mean, he he's a hard charging guy and I
- 38:26Speaker 15: imagine he'll be able to do a lot of what
- 38:28Speaker 15: he says he wants to do that.
- 38:30Speaker 3: And you know a lot of people have asked me
- 38:32Speaker 3: what I thought of morrissey administration was going to look like,
- 38:35Speaker 3: and I'll say this, a lot of it in my opinion,
- 38:37Speaker 3: and you can agree or disagree. Stephen has to do
- 38:39Speaker 3: with who the new Senate president is. I know, I
- 38:41Speaker 3: think you're going to go on with Hoppy to talk
- 38:43Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on, so I won't
- 38:44Speaker 3: get too much into that. But if it is Senate
- 38:46Speaker 3: Finance Chair Eric tar As, many as many people have
- 38:49Speaker 3: said that they would like it to be or think
- 38:51Speaker 3: that it might be either way. And I'm not talking
- 38:55Speaker 3: out of school here, and I mean this with the
- 38:57Speaker 3: most with the utmost respect, but by their own admission,
- 39:00Speaker 3: I mean both these two guys I'm talking about morris
- 39:02Speaker 3: They and tar are very headstrong personalities. And Morrissey is
- 39:06Speaker 3: someone who's used to getting his way by the mere
- 39:10Speaker 3: nature of him being the head of the Attorney General's office.
- 39:13Speaker 3: At the end of the day, it's his name on
- 39:14Speaker 3: the outside of the office. And although I'm sure he
- 39:17Speaker 3: took input as all state agencies do in the day,
- 39:20Speaker 3: he makes the ultimate decision. It's not that way though,
- 39:22Speaker 3: when you're governor.
- 39:23Speaker 15: Well that's right, But I think the difference is going
- 39:26Speaker 15: to be you're going to see Morrissey, I think, operate
- 39:28Speaker 15: very similar to how Mansion operator when he was governor.
- 39:31Speaker 15: I think he's going to be very hands on. He's
- 39:33Speaker 15: going to be present. He's going to be in the
- 39:35Speaker 15: Governor's mansion, I would imagine, and he's going to be
- 39:38Speaker 15: having meetings with legislative leaders and he's going to be
- 39:42Speaker 15: working his agenda constantly during the legislative session. He's not
- 39:46Speaker 15: going off to coach basketball. He is going to be
- 39:49Speaker 15: there and work this sort of stuff. So that might
- 39:53Speaker 15: mean he doesn't get everything he wants, but it certainly
- 39:56Speaker 15: means that he can at least negotiate some compromises on
- 40:00Speaker 15: on agenda items and work. Now said, he's already talking
- 40:03Speaker 15: to legislative leaders on these issues. He's going to have
- 40:05Speaker 15: cooperation of other members of the Border Public Works. This
- 40:09Speaker 15: is going to be probably the most collaborative group of
- 40:13Speaker 15: people I think we've seen, because I don't think we've
- 40:15Speaker 15: ever really seen that between the legislature and the governor,
- 40:18Speaker 15: or even members of the bard of Public Works and
- 40:20Speaker 15: the governor too. I think there's been some stress there
- 40:23Speaker 15: over the last eight years. I think this is going
- 40:25Speaker 15: to be different. So are there going to be policy differences,
- 40:28Speaker 15: for sure, but I think there are things that could
- 40:31Speaker 15: be worked out, and more so, he's going to work that.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Talking to Steve and Allen Adams text says they're all
- 40:36Speaker 3: never okay, this is kind of funny. There will never
- 40:38Speaker 3: be a moment when we can't pick Jim Justice out
- 40:40Speaker 3: of a lineup. I think that. I think that's fairpoint
- 40:43Speaker 3: texture Texas says, get money, get services, and do stuff
- 40:46Speaker 3: for the state. What has Shelley Moore Capito been doing
- 40:49Speaker 3: for twenty years as Westford and inspired to the bottom
- 40:52Speaker 3: of everything?
- 40:53Speaker 15: Well, particularly the last couple of years. She negotiated the
- 40:57Speaker 15: Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is bringing a lot
- 41:02Speaker 15: of money and investment to the state. Particularly with broadband.
- 41:05Speaker 15: You're going to start seeing companies really get the work
- 41:08Speaker 15: on that now that some of the red tape that
- 41:10Speaker 15: has been put in place by the Biden administration, I
- 41:12Speaker 15: think it has been cut through, So I think you're
- 41:15Speaker 15: going to start to see some fiber get installed. She's
- 41:18Speaker 15: done a lot of things when it comes to appropriations,
- 41:21Speaker 15: when it comes to investment in transportation and infrastructure, which
- 41:25Speaker 15: is a big thing that her committee specifically does. They
- 41:28Speaker 15: do to transportation funding bill every year. So I think
- 41:33Speaker 15: that there is a good deal that's been done under
- 41:36Speaker 15: Senator Capito.
- 41:38Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five any Lie Brown to part
- 41:39Speaker 3: by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. If
- 41:42Speaker 3: you're injured, visit for the people dot com. So what
- 41:44Speaker 3: are you working on today, Steven.
- 41:46Speaker 15: Well, we got state school Board meeting in here at
- 41:49Speaker 15: ten o'clock, so we'll see what they have to say.
- 41:52Speaker 15: They actually have an agenda item on there dealing with
- 41:55Speaker 15: the West Virginia Secretary School Activities Commissioned. So I don't
- 41:58Speaker 15: know if they'll get into some of these issues that
- 42:02Speaker 15: we see going across with the high school football playoffs
- 42:06Speaker 15: or anything like that. So we're monitoring that, and they're
- 42:08Speaker 15: going to be dealing with some school safety issues, which
- 42:12Speaker 15: will be interested in giving some of the reports that
- 42:14Speaker 15: we saw from the legislative Interim Sunday in regards to
- 42:17Speaker 15: how much money that they need to do some of
- 42:19Speaker 15: these school safety and issues they want to do. So
- 42:21Speaker 15: a lot of interesting stuff.
- 42:22Speaker 3: And people can read your stuff where Parkersburg.
- 42:24Speaker 15: News and Sentinel, weed Lean Intelligencer, we're in Daily Times,
- 42:28Speaker 15: the Inner Mountain and Elkins, the Martinsburg Journal and now
- 42:31Speaker 15: the Dominion Post the Morning Time.
- 42:33Speaker 3: And you want to follow him on X, make sure
- 42:35Speaker 3: that you do because he's always got a lot of
- 42:37Speaker 3: good information out there. All right, Steve, and I appreciate
- 42:40Speaker 3: you being here. I hope to see you because I

- 45:04Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five Adiline Bride to you, parted
- 45:06Speaker 3: by Meek's Realtor group. Rich the Realtor always happened to
- 45:09Speaker 3: take your call. We've been talking about this one for
- 45:10Speaker 3: a long time. Beautiful listing in scott Depots, seventy five
- 45:13Speaker 3: Poinsetia Drive, fifty six hundred square foot home, six bedrooms,
- 45:18Speaker 3: laundry room, two full laundry rooms, full house, generator, more
- 45:21Speaker 3: color texts. Rich the Realtor three zero four nine three
- 45:24Speaker 3: two seventy four eighty eight. Let him tell you more
- 45:26Speaker 3: about this great property, Texas. Dave didn't hear from Trump
- 45:30Speaker 3: on veterans as usual. Red Persinger, who we've heard a
- 45:34Speaker 3: lot from the last couple of days, but never we've
- 45:37Speaker 3: just said like that, never too much, Uncle Fred. Uh
- 45:40Speaker 3: you know you know I sent delicate Kaylee Young down
- 45:43Speaker 3: to your office before she went on the air with
- 45:44Speaker 3: me today because I saw she had posted on social media.
- 45:46Speaker 3: Can someone explain this all to me? I said, the
- 45:49Speaker 3: guy that's got it. We got a few, you know,
- 45:51Speaker 3: Joe Bricado and Travis Jones, and Travis will be on
- 45:53Speaker 3: with the Hobby to give his take coming up. I
- 45:55Speaker 3: think it's the top of the hour. I said, go
- 45:57Speaker 3: see Fred, because Fred's got this all taking care of. Yeah, right,
- 46:01Speaker 3: I got it, write down.
- 46:02Speaker 4: I mean, just ask me any question you want about.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Ink's not dry on the notes that you just took
- 46:07Speaker 3: five minutes second, right, all right, So what's what's the latest?
- 46:10Speaker 4: Well, the latest is, of course, everyone knows by now
- 46:12Speaker 4: that the playoffs have been suspended or postponed rather for
- 46:16Speaker 4: at least one week. And I think, here again, I
- 46:19Speaker 4: put myself out on the limbit. I think that we'll
- 46:21Speaker 4: get back to playing football next week.
- 46:23Speaker 3: You think so, well.
- 46:24Speaker 4: I think cooler heads will prevail when they get to
- 46:27Speaker 4: the higher court and they understand that it's still good.
- 46:30Speaker 4: It has to be about the kids sooner or later.
- 46:33Speaker 4: And if you keep postponing it, you're not going to
- 46:36Speaker 4: be about the kids anymore. Because there's a lot of
- 46:38Speaker 4: things that cannot continue to be delayed. You've got I
- 46:42Speaker 4: think the number one thing for boys football is you've
- 46:45Speaker 4: got so many kids, particularly in smaller schools, that have
- 46:48Speaker 4: to play both ways as far as football and basketball
- 46:51Speaker 4: and baseball. Well, basketball practice for boys starts Monday, and
- 46:56Speaker 4: if you're still playing in the first round of the
- 46:58Speaker 4: playoffs and you're decent, that means you're going to miss
- 47:01Speaker 4: the entire first month of practice and probably a few
- 47:05Speaker 4: games if it keeps going.
- 47:06Speaker 3: And that first month, and any coach will tell you
- 47:08Speaker 3: that first month the preseason.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Is critical, so important, so very important, you know, to
- 47:12Speaker 4: get the chemistry of the team together and everything. So again,
- 47:15Speaker 4: I honestly think cooler heads will prevail. They'll get found
- 47:19Speaker 4: down to saying, hey, the kids are what we should
- 47:21Speaker 4: be about. Let's get this thing settled. I think it
- 47:24Speaker 4: gets to the State Supreme Court. State Supreme Court is
- 47:26Speaker 4: going to say, hey, Ssac, run your thing, do your thing,
- 47:30Speaker 4: because that's what they've said in the past.
- 47:32Speaker 14: Do your thing.
- 47:34Speaker 4: The intermediate court really doesn't have anything to do with it.
- 47:37Speaker 3: You mentioned Kayla is talking with her and.
- 47:39Speaker 4: She agrees stay out of it. We talked about the
- 47:43Speaker 4: transfer portal for a few minutes. She said, it's some
- 47:45Speaker 4: of the craziest thing in the world. The legislature should
- 47:48Speaker 4: never have gotten involved.
- 47:49Speaker 2: So true.
- 47:50Speaker 4: And I think now we're at that point where everyone
- 47:54Speaker 4: should just step back and say, hey, the ratings are.
- 47:57Speaker 3: What they are.
- 47:58Speaker 4: And it's just like if in college football, I'm team
- 48:02Speaker 4: number thirteen out of this twelve team playoff and I
- 48:06Speaker 4: don't like it. Why am I going to do to
- 48:08Speaker 4: get an injunction crazy?
- 48:10Speaker 3: Well, and as I said yesterday, you know where does
- 48:13Speaker 3: it stop. I mean, I think you're you're setting, as
- 48:16Speaker 3: Speedy Bevan's pointed out to me in a conversation he
- 48:18Speaker 3: and I had yesterday, you're setting a very dangerous precedence.
- 48:22Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that the courts haven't been involved
- 48:24Speaker 3: in various high school things over the years, but not
- 48:26Speaker 3: to this extent. And as somebody who covers this, I
- 48:30Speaker 3: saw that they tweeted out that never in their years
- 48:31Speaker 3: did they ever think they would see something like this
- 48:34Speaker 3: when playoffs would be And again, you know, you can say, like, well,
- 48:37Speaker 3: there's sports, you know nobody, I mean, there's more important
- 48:40Speaker 3: things to worry about. It's not just about sports. This
- 48:42Speaker 3: is kind of a personification for a lot of other things.
- 48:46Speaker 3: And I'll go ahead and say this. I won't make
- 48:48Speaker 3: you say it. You talked about the transfer portal, right,
- 48:51Speaker 3: and I'll say this about the Republican Party in West Virginia.
- 48:55Speaker 3: For a group that for many, many years said stay
- 48:58Speaker 3: out of people's lives, they've gotten involved in some people's lives.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I don't expect you to comment on that. That's my job.
- 49:04Speaker 3: But still, you know, I think I think if you
- 49:07Speaker 3: just let the kids play, and you just let the
- 49:09Speaker 3: coaches do what they do and get everybody else the
- 49:12Speaker 3: hell out of it, I think it would be a
- 49:13Speaker 3: whole lot better.
- 49:14Speaker 4: Like I said yesterday up on your program, is the
- 49:16Speaker 4: fact that the kids don't care about all this nonsense.
- 49:19Speaker 10: They really don't.
- 49:20Speaker 4: They just want to play. Tell me where, tell me
- 49:22Speaker 4: when let's go to spot the ball, as they say,
- 49:24Speaker 4: spot the ballot the ball, let's go, let's get it underway,
- 49:26Speaker 4: and if it's somebody that they're not supposed to beat,
- 49:30Speaker 4: we'll play.
- 49:30Speaker 3: And find out what happened. They won't because this is
- 49:32Speaker 3: not baseball. It's not a seven game series. You know
- 49:34Speaker 3: you're going to play one time and the week teams
- 49:37Speaker 3: are going to be except for a few upsots here
- 49:39Speaker 3: and there, the week, teams are going to be weeded out.
- 49:42Speaker 3: So your your take on Fred, is that they'll obviously
- 49:45Speaker 3: it was announcer not playing this wee right exactly, So
- 49:47Speaker 3: it'll head to Supreme Court next week.
- 49:49Speaker 4: I don't I think it'll go sooner than that. Okay, okay, okay,
- 49:52Speaker 4: because there's still a lot of things that have to
- 49:53Speaker 4: be done. You have to get settled in as far
- 49:55Speaker 4: as which set of ratings are they going to use?
- 49:58Speaker 4: The ones that were pre reclassification of all the teams
- 50:01Speaker 4: are the ones that they've been playing under all year long.
- 50:04Speaker 4: I personally think that's the set of ratings they'll go with.
- 50:07Speaker 4: And the teams that got in with the three and
- 50:10Speaker 4: seven records they're going to get out real quick.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Dave aalenowing five eighty line broad to part by Husband's
- 50:16Speaker 3: Pizza this month that your favorite hustands get a large
- 50:18Speaker 3: atennch Pepperoni pizza and a Pizza da only twenty one
- 50:20Speaker 3: ninety nine. Let me close with this with you, Fred,
- 50:23Speaker 3: Is it possible? Is it that a lot of this
- 50:26Speaker 3: stuff could have been avoided if we did not go
- 50:28Speaker 3: to a four class system. I mean, this is this
- 50:31Speaker 3: is kind of an indicative of that decision in my opinion,
- 50:36Speaker 3: which was a I don't follow this as closely as
- 50:38Speaker 3: you and others do, but was was a bad decision
- 50:41Speaker 3: to begin with to go to four classes.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Particularly in football, because football is not The playoffs in
- 50:46Speaker 4: football are different than the playoffs in any other those sports.
- 50:49Speaker 4: You have tournaments that get you into the championship. Not
- 50:53Speaker 4: in football. It's all based on points that are awarded
- 50:55Speaker 4: throughout the season. So yeah, if you were still double
- 50:58Speaker 4: A A single A, we'll be playing football tomorrow night,
- 51:01Speaker 4: all right, and tonight's Thursday, Friday night whatever it is whatever,
- 51:04Speaker 4: we don't even know anymore in April, and be here
- 51:06Speaker 4: in spring break, all right.
- 51:07Speaker 3: So we got the high school sports line, we do.
- 51:09Speaker 3: We have high school sports line tonight and anything to
- 51:12Speaker 3: talk about.
- 51:13Speaker 4: Well, Wayne Ryan is coming in right at the start,
- 51:15Speaker 4: and then we're gonna get into some coaches, because coaches
- 51:18Speaker 4: that we know we're going to be in the playoffs.
- 51:20Speaker 4: I've got Keith Taylor on from Princeton, that's their ten
- 51:23Speaker 4: and zero. We've got Devon Marian on from Oak Hill.
- 51:26Speaker 4: They've had a great, great season, this year, so they'll
- 51:29Speaker 4: be on with us and then the other hour. I
- 51:31Speaker 4: take care of the first hour and Joe Bricotta takes
- 51:33Speaker 4: care of the second hour, and I don't know what's
- 51:34Speaker 4: on the second hour yet. But we will have Game
- 51:37Speaker 4: Night Friday night. Yes, no scores, no scores.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Game the best of Game Night. We're gonna go back
- 51:43Speaker 3: to nineteen seventy six, so we're gonna recount all and
- 51:45Speaker 3: we bring Speedy in for that, and we'll go back
- 51:47Speaker 3: to nineteen seventy six. We're going to recap all the
- 51:49Speaker 3: scores from nineteen seventy six.
- 51:51Speaker 4: There are games that there's a game somebody suggested it
- 51:53Speaker 4: Dave and I get involved in, and I've really forgotten
- 51:55Speaker 4: the name of the game, but it might be a
- 51:56Speaker 4: good time this Friday night to do it.
- 51:57Speaker 3: There you go, all right, Fred, appreciate you help man.
- 52:00Speaker 3: I may give you tomorrow off because I don't know
- 52:02Speaker 3: unless we have something to report tomorrow, I don't think
- 52:05Speaker 3: i'll have you on tomorrow. I need the money man. Yes, well,
- 52:09Speaker 3: come over to me with the biscuits and gravy bowls
