- 0:03Welcome to the Propane to Purpose radio show.
- 0:06I'm your host, Viva Fulton. In this show, we explore the
- 0:10incredible journeys of resilience, healing and
- 0:13transformation. In each.
- 0:15Episode, we will sit down with individuals who have faced
- 0:18unimaginable struggles and turn their pain into power,
- 0:22heartbreak into hope, and their challenges into meaningful
- 0:26change and finding new purpose in life.
- 0:29Through candid conversations and inspiring stories, we will
- 0:33uncover how pain, whether emotional, physical, mental or
- 0:37spiritual, can be the catalyst for profound growth and a deeper
- 0:41sense of purpose. So if you are looking for
- 0:44motivation, insight, and real stories of triumph over
- 0:47adversity, you're in the right place.
- 0:50Let's get started on this journey from pain to purpose.
- 0:53Let's give veterans a voice through military broadcast talk.
- 0:58Hey, hey, welcome to everybody today is Saturday, August 1st,
- 1:04the year of our Lord 2026. Welcome to the propane to
- 1:07purpose radio show. I got a external glow today Look
- 1:12at this I've got a new set up here.
- 1:15Shout out huge shout out to Joel.
- 1:18I man he's he makes us look good, doesn't he look at this
- 1:23look at this I'm so excited thank you Joel.
- 1:27I can see him in the in the back back here.
- 1:32Man, I am so excited. Maybe he's connecting me to
- 1:35something and I didn't know I got to hit Instagram Go live
- 1:39too. Sometimes I forget doing that.
- 1:41Go live, there we go. All right, so you know, man,
- 1:46what a week, what a week if and if y'all follow me on social
- 1:54media, especially with my Facebook and Instagram.
- 1:58My daughter said yes last night. I'm so excited for her and and
- 2:04Cole and Asher, 'cause I am Nana now.
- 2:09You know, it's kind of neat walking into this Nana roll.
- 2:12I got to eat my feet propped up. Sorry, move my little cushion
- 2:18over 'cause my feet can't touch the floor when I turn this way.
- 2:21All right, there we go. So, you know, they started
- 2:26dating what I guess four months ago, not long before I came back
- 2:33to Texas and I got to meet this young man.
- 2:38And a few weeks ago when we were at the Ranger game, Carrie went
- 2:43to the restroom. She didn't know that, you know,
- 2:46we were chatting a little bit, but he showed me a picture of a
- 2:50ring. So I've kind of been holding the
- 2:53secret. I, I kept it in the bag all this
- 2:56time. I'm not always good with
- 2:58secrets, but this was a good one to hold on to.
- 3:01So I'm super excited about the journey that this young family
- 3:08is going to go on. They recently purchased a house
- 3:11together and they are, they're just a cute couple.
- 3:14You know, it was kind of kind of nice after he had told me at the
- 3:18Ranger game what he was planning on doing.
- 3:23Carrie and Asher were walking ahead of us.
- 3:26And he goes, that, that right there.
- 3:30That's my world. That's my world.
- 3:34And I was like, this is the man for my daughter.
- 3:39You know, I, I can't, I can't let just any man be there for my
- 3:44daughter. But if, if a man like that is
- 3:47going to say that's his world, then that's then that's my world
- 3:52that I'm just, you know, super, super excited about the way our
- 3:57people garden grows, you know, So Speaking of, you know, if
- 4:05y'all been following me on my dissertation journey and working
- 4:10on my PHDI had success last weekend with getting enough
- 4:16participants for my study. I'm so excited.
- 4:19Not too late. If you're in North Texas and San
- 4:22Antonio areas, I and if you want, I will go ahead and read
- 4:27it to you. You gotta put the nerdy glasses
- 4:29back on. So, and this is a little flyer I
- 4:35handed out. So what am I doing?
- 4:39I am, I am studying the unfulfilled needs of female
- 4:43combat veterans. And this is how I, I, you know,
- 4:47say it. This is how I was pitching it to
- 4:50the ladies. I'm studying the unfulfilled
- 4:53needs of female combat veterans. Because nobody ever asked us,
- 4:57right? They haven't ever asked us.
- 4:59Nobody's ever asked us, really, what do you need?
- 5:07And it was interesting that even the messaging that we were
- 5:12getting from the VA at the summit, this was the regional
- 5:17Southwest Network. I think it's what they call it,
- 5:20the Southwest Network. It's what we call it in my
- 5:22federal job that this was, you know, you got to think about it,
- 5:29guys, guys that this was a system built for men.
- 5:36They didn't consider designing it.
- 5:38They, we've just kind of been getting some ad hoc stuff here
- 5:42and there to design it, to design programs for women.
- 5:48And that's important, right? It's important because I don't
- 5:53have the same needs that Joel, our producer has.
- 5:57He has kind of said different Physiology there, right?
- 6:03Same for any of you, male or female, you have, we have
- 6:07different Physiology, we have different hormonal needs.
- 6:11And that was one of the interesting things that I heard
- 6:15time and time again at the conference was how about HRT,
- 6:22right? I probably TMI for you guys, but
- 6:26I had I had the lady parts taken out from due to some metal
- 6:30medical stuff back in 2017. Was I offered any hormone
- 6:35replacement therapy? No, no.
- 6:39So anyways, I will get into this.
- 6:43My name is Eva Fulton. I'm a doctoral student at
- 6:47National University. I am conducting a research study
- 6:50to utilize Freeman stakeholder theory.
- 6:53Guess what? In this world of ours, you the
- 6:58veteran, my fellow sister veterans, you are a stakeholder
- 7:04in the grand design about policy in public administration.
- 7:09Who would a thunk? So I'm using this as a
- 7:13conceptual context to explore the unfulfilled needs of at
- 7:17least 25 to 40 modern day female combat veterans who served in
- 7:22combat roles. Now, I'm not saying you had to
- 7:25be in combat, you just had to have been in theater where where
- 7:31conflict was happening, right? You, you getting the right
- 7:34ribbons on your chest is what I'm talking about.
- 7:38And this is to determine the public administration policies
- 7:41and programs needed from the United States Department of
- 7:45Veterans Affairs and other veteran program providers.
- 7:50And I'm gonna so this is how I want you to think about it at
- 7:53the federal, state, local and non profit levels, right?
- 7:57Because those are the levels that are looking at helping us.
- 8:01And I, and when I say local, that could be county, that could
- 8:04be your city, that could be your, you know, whatever your
- 8:10local tribe, that's another way of looking at it too.
- 8:15So what are the requirements to be a biological female, which is
- 8:19in context with Executive Order number 14168 published in 2025,
- 8:25you're eligible for VA healthcare.
- 8:27I didn't say you had to be getting it because maybe you
- 8:30choose not to. I just need to know that you're
- 8:32eligible for VA healthcare, were released from the military more
- 8:37than five years ago, retired or discharged.
- 8:39I don't care how you got retired or discharged.
- 8:42The purpose of the five years, just so you understand, is that
- 8:47you know somebody who recently got out, you, you don't know
- 8:51what you don't know yet, right? And I'd get it that there are
- 8:54women who and men who have been out more than five years who
- 8:58still don't know what they don't know.
- 9:01But you probably have at least experienced some familiarity
- 9:06with what your issues are, what the barriers are, what the
- 9:10problems that you've experienced.
- 9:12You know, you're going to have some kind of reference on what
- 9:16your needs are versus, you know, somebody who got out brand new.
- 9:23So yeah, I need you to. Let's see, let's see what's the
- 9:28next Oh, so the next the next item is to you served on active
- 9:33duty in a designated This is where I was getting it while
- 9:36ago. You received combat pay or
- 9:39earned a combat specific award such as Bronze star, the Army
- 9:43combat action bagged or recognized combat related
- 9:47campaign service medal. That could be Desert Storm,
- 9:50could be Vietnam, right? We have a lot of women who
- 9:54served in Vietnam, boots on the ground.
- 9:57Some still might be around for Korea, probably not too many.
- 10:01Iraq, Afghanistan, Libyan falls into that category.
- 10:06As long as you've been out for more than five years, then the
- 10:10other two criteria is that you live in the North Texas area
- 10:16service by the Dallas VA Vision or San Antonio by by that area.
- 10:23So anyways, you know that's what I have been working on.
- 10:26I have enough participants, so I'm super excited.
- 10:30I get to host my first call with the with the participants on
- 10:36Tuesday evening and we're going to have some discussions.
- 10:41Then I'll have another discussion with the San Antonio
- 10:44ladies. And so it's not too late.
- 10:47If you are in North Texas or San Antonio area, reach out to me
- 10:52and would love to have you participate in my study.
- 10:57I think that this is really going to help inform all of
- 11:02those 4 levels that I was talking about and, you know,
- 11:07provide them some context. I mean, I was even reading a
- 11:10study that was published. Where did it go?
- 11:13There was a study that I was reading Here It Is that was
- 11:17published in. What is this?
- 11:22This is the I want to say it's 2025.
- 11:26Yeah. June 2025.
- 11:27Homelessness and female veterans, a phenomenological
- 11:31study on perceived precipitating factors.
- 11:33And in some ways that's what I think the study is going to hit
- 11:37on. The literature review that I've
- 11:40done so far is really pretty informing about the women who
- 11:46are having issues. And I think that that is really
- 11:50going to, you know, like I said, I think the purpose of what this
- 11:55study is going to do and, and help us out is is going to, I'm
- 12:01praying is going to help move the needle for a lot of us.
- 12:04And, you know, I've been advocating for veterans for a
- 12:08long time. And I have a comment.
- 12:13OK, thanks, Joel. He's reposted it to the stream.
- 12:18So anyhoo, I wanted to get into what my topic today is, and that
- 12:26is disappointment versus divine appointment.
- 12:31What is it? I have had divine appointments
- 12:36for years, years and years and it I didn't know what they were
- 12:44until I, I think the discernment right?
- 12:49The, I think God just kind of like said, it's a divine
- 12:56appointment. You're on the right track when
- 12:58you're on the Camino, when you're on the Appalachian Trail,
- 13:01when you are, you know, brothers and sisters.
- 13:05When you are, when you know that the compass is headed in the
- 13:09right direction, you know you're you.
- 13:12You know those signs. There's that landmark, there's
- 13:15that you know that you were at the right place at the right
- 13:18time. And I started getting these a
- 13:22long time ago. I really, I think I cognizantly
- 13:29recognized it when I started writing my book.
- 13:34I was going through a horrible time through my divorce,
- 13:38blindsided, if you will, that my husband had left me and I was
- 13:43listening to radio and, and as the radio was playing this song,
- 13:51he lives. There was an SUV driving in
- 13:57front of me in the back window in white shoe Polish said he
- 14:01lives. I was like, OK, I guess I'm at
- 14:06the right place at the right time for God to give me this
- 14:10message. But I've had other people that I
- 14:14have met along the way that, you know, I, I'm there for a reason,
- 14:21right? You know, I talked a little bit
- 14:24last week about meeting the this lady as I was leaving out of the
- 14:30summit. I was, I was peddling the very
- 14:34last copy of my study, trying to recruit her.
- 14:40And here we were walking out the door and I told her about, you
- 14:45know, you had discussion about this, but then I told her about
- 14:50the radio show, the two radio shows and, and she just started
- 14:55crying. You know, she's 70 years old.
- 14:57This woman is still working full time.
- 15:00Y'all she has. And I really, really want her to
- 15:06get on. She's a beautiful lady.
- 15:09And she sent me the picture of us together.
- 15:13And that just warmed my heart, 'cause you know, you know, you
- 15:17meet people and you feel you just, you just know that I'm at
- 15:23the right place at the right time.
- 15:25There's a confirmation that this person is supposed to be in my
- 15:30life. And that's why I wrote, welcome
- 15:33to my people garden, right? We have to grow our people,
- 15:35garden. We don't exist in and of
- 15:39ourselves. We are supposed to grow
- 15:43relationships. We are supposed to sow seeds of
- 15:47faith, hope and love. Right.
- 15:49And you know, it was so when I was telling this lady about the
- 15:55revivalist, she started crying. They were not tears of sadness.
- 16:00She was, she's been caring a lot.
- 16:03You know, this is a lot in connection with the Revivalist
- 16:06Radio Show because I told her the Revivalist Radio Show is
- 16:10built upon a veteran mission. Yes, veteran mission, that
- 16:18ministry, that's, that's the spiel, right?
- 16:22It's a veteran ministry. Yes, it's a mission, but it is a
- 16:25veteran ministry based upon moral injury, healing and
- 16:29recovery 'cause we have to put God back in the true north of
- 16:35moral compass that He's the one that's in charge of us.
- 16:40He's the one that keeps us on the right track, on the right
- 16:43path, moving the right direction, headed towards the
- 16:47right destination. And He wants us to get there
- 16:50safe and sound. So bye ongoing project in case
- 16:58y'all don't follow me on social media.
- 17:00I am rehabbing an RV bought it from my dad he doesn't have a
- 17:06need for it anymore. So it's it's a 22 footer and
- 17:12it's got some water leaks so it's dusty.
- 17:17I, I had to wash my hair twice today, you know, just to get
- 17:22all, and I think I still have insulation, a little bit of
- 17:25insulation on my arms. And so I had started, you know,
- 17:32started some of the original demo at Dad's and dad helped me
- 17:36get that flooring issue, you know, stabilized because I
- 17:41needed the floor stabilized before I could, you know, and
- 17:45not put a a foot through anything.
- 17:48Had to get that all stabilized so that I could actually finish
- 17:51doing the rest of the work. So now that I am here for a
- 17:56little bit, settled down and, and going to take Carrie and
- 18:00Cole and Asher camping in a couple weeks.
- 18:03So I got a lot to get done and I'm not new at construction
- 18:10guys. I used to own a construction
- 18:12company. So I got power tools no problem,
- 18:15got tape measures. I got saw horses, I got the
- 18:20sawzall. Sometimes I have to have a
- 18:24little bit extra elbow grease. So Cody, my youngest son who
- 18:29still lives with me through I asked him, I need your help
- 18:34today. So anyways, I had to go get the
- 18:37materials last night so I went into the hardware store Home
- 18:41Depot. Love Home Depot.
- 18:43They give they give us good veteran discounts and I have my
- 18:47pro account set up from way back in way back when yes, I still
- 18:51have a pro account. So, you know, it's kind of
- 18:55funny. Guys always look at you funny.
- 18:57I'm wearing my dress because yes, I went and got my massage
- 19:011st and I'm, I'm shopping in the hardware store, the dress and
- 19:08manhandling the lumber and all that kind of stuff.
- 19:10And the guy's like, you want what you want what he didn't
- 19:14know. He didn't know what he was
- 19:16getting to. Anyways, so I ran into this lady
- 19:20who's on a scooter and she was looking at the same the same
- 19:28sheets that I was. So I, you know, part of what I'm
- 19:31redoing the whole front end, it's add some water leaks.
- 19:35So I'm going to have to seal it all.
- 19:38I got the roof kit coming in should be here Monday I think.
- 19:44But I still have to get all the demo done and see where are the
- 19:48issues at, where are the issues in the roof so I can make sure
- 19:52I, you know, tape everything up. So I didn't, I believe me, I
- 19:57know how to do the demo and make sure you got to get it in the
- 20:01right order, right? Because if I just do the roof,
- 20:04but I don't know where the holes are and, and what if I
- 20:08accidentally poke a hole while I'm doing the demo?
- 20:12Then you got more issues 'cause then you're, you're sealing it
- 20:16up, but now you got to fix something else.
- 20:18So. Anyways, I'm getting all the
- 20:20demo done. It's looking way better and I'm
- 20:25going to have plenty, plenty of I'm using, you know, the
- 20:29sheathing that's got the white, it's kind of like the
- 20:33wainscoting look. So that's what I use.
- 20:36So then the, in case you're wondering about what am I going
- 20:39to do with the RV, it is not only going to help, you know,
- 20:43provide a place where we can go camping, but it's going to be my
- 20:47studio on wheels. And I 'cause I have a surprise
- 20:51for that, I'll share a little bit later.
- 20:55So I have, I have plans for this RVI have plans to maybe get some
- 21:02other female veterans out there and we get out there in the
- 21:06woods and just enjoy some time, right?
- 21:11Some very great time, just kind of relaxing, enjoying some walks
- 21:17in the woods, some wild thought, you know, some fire, contain hot
- 21:21wildfire, but contain fire. You know, it's, it's going to be
- 21:26fun. So, but I don't think I'm going
- 21:30to drive it to Wyoming. It's too far.
- 21:32That's too far for Wyoming. I don't know, maybe I'll think
- 21:36about it, but so I'm going hunting at the end of September.
- 21:41I'm going antelope hunting at the end of September.
- 21:44I'm so excited working with a nonprofit called Brave Souls
- 21:49United, and that's because I've always wanted to go hunting.
- 21:55I haven't done that. I know I'm kind of goofy, but I,
- 22:01I, I don't know. This is, it'll be fun.
- 22:05So I'm over there in the hardware store looking at this
- 22:11wainscoting, you know, sheathing.
- 22:14And the, this lady that I, I'm just, she's just a stranger and
- 22:20she's, she's a black woman and she's on a scooter and we just
- 22:25start striking up a conversation.
- 22:27I said, yeah, I, you know, got this project.
- 22:30And she goes, I have projects too, but she's not quite sure
- 22:36about doing it. And we started, you know, chit
- 22:39chatting a little bit about construction, how you used to
- 22:41own a construction company. And she, she's looked at me and
- 22:48I said, this is a divine appointment, isn't it?
- 22:52And she goes, a divine appointment.
- 22:56I said, yeah, you know, where God puts us at the right place
- 23:00at the right time. And she goes that, that she
- 23:09says, God's God's with me. She said, you know, I've, I've
- 23:14been struggling lately. She said I've been struggling,
- 23:19struggling with disappointments. And she goes, I've had this
- 23:27conversation with God that disappointments isn't the right
- 23:32term and I'm putting too much into disappointments and I've
- 23:40got to take that word out of my vocabulary, flip it around and
- 23:47make it a divine appointment. You and I, we cannot choose or
- 23:55give somebody the will of what they are supposed to do.
- 24:01But it does take a certain mindset to change things and
- 24:08start having divine appointments 'cause you have to start getting
- 24:15comfortable with you, with what's in your heart and what
- 24:20motivates you to do the things you do.
- 24:25And. That's different, right?
- 24:28You know, I was talking to one of my friends the other day, You
- 24:30know, I'm drinking my electrolytes.
- 24:33We were talking about relationships.
- 24:37So this is not quite half empty, right?
- 24:42But if it's full and overflowing, I have the
- 24:46overflowing. That's enough to share with
- 24:49other people. But if I'm still missing this
- 24:53part, I still have to work on making sure that my heart is
- 24:59full because otherwise I'm still trying to add into my own cup
- 25:06while I'm giving out to others. And, and if you know, I've used
- 25:13the analogy before about going, you know, you're flying and the
- 25:18flight attendant gives you the instructions, make sure you know
- 25:22that she uses the it'll drop down oxygen mask.
- 25:26You got to put the oxygen mask on yourself first before you can
- 25:29put it on your kid or the senior that you know is flying with you
- 25:34or somebody who cannot help themselves.
- 25:37You have to put the oxygen mask on yourself.
- 25:42So sometimes you just kind of have to get out of your own way
- 25:46and change the way you look at it and stop being disappointed
- 25:52by other people because you cannot control them.
- 25:57Right, we could try. To will them all day long.
- 26:05But we can't. Control them.
- 26:10Hold on folks, I have a U PS: That ring the bell.
- 26:44Even ducks know the calmest waters come after the storm.
- 26:49Whenever things get rough or it feels like you're at the edge,
- 26:53remember this. Storms pass.
- 26:58Tough times don't last, but tough people do.
- 27:05The station. Where our veterans voices are
- 27:08heard MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 27:12channel by watching and listening.
- 27:14Find us on the web at MB Radio dot.
- 27:18All right, so. Sorry, guys, I thought I had to
- 27:21sign for it. That was the stabilizer jacks
- 27:26that was being delivered. They're heavy.
- 27:28I didn't pull it inside. Funny, funny thing, you know
- 27:33when you're traveling across the country.
- 27:34I was traveling across from the country from Dad's, you know, I,
- 27:39I had pulled off to get gas and didn't judge the slope right,
- 27:44that was headed out of the gas station and messed up the front
- 27:48Jack. So I didn't tell dad about that
- 27:51yet, but fortunately my oldest son works at a place that was
- 27:56able to order them for me and I got them sent to your.
- 28:00Let's see, Jose has the Jose. He he comes on after me with the
- 28:05motivated mindset. He says, hello, Eva.
- 28:07Yes, you can't pour out of an empty cup.
- 28:10Amen, He said. Amen.
- 28:12And then he said, oh, did you get cookies in that UPS
- 28:16delivery? You know, we'd love that.
- 28:18I wish they were cookie snow. I'm not a big cookie fan,
- 28:22believe it or not, but stabilizer Jack.
- 28:25So I told you I was working on rehabbing this RV.
- 28:30So let's get back to where we were, you know?
- 28:41Excuse me, people are and can disappoint us.
- 28:51But it kind of goes. Back to something that I talked
- 28:53about last week, expectations. We have expectations that people
- 29:00are going to do this. And then they deliver.
- 29:04This right, And we get disappointed by that.
- 29:11But they're. Human too.
- 29:13They are going through stuff. We don't know what somebody else
- 29:16is going through. We don't know what their mindset
- 29:19is. And then that gets back to, you
- 29:24know, I was I was telling this woman last night about, you
- 29:28know, the premise of this show that I have built it on the like
- 29:35this wooden chair. I wish I had a fake wooden
- 29:38chair. I could hold up every time.
- 29:39Maybe I'll have to look in and see if I can find one.
- 29:43The wooden chair is physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
- 29:48pain. So right, think about this
- 29:51wooden chair and and you're sitting on the wooden chair.
- 29:57That didn't work too good, did it?
- 29:58You're sitting on the wooden chair.
- 30:00Well, if one of these, you know, legs gets a little weak.
- 30:06The stability. That you're sitting on.
- 30:09Gets gets a. Little weak too, right?
- 30:12You might fall out of that chair.
- 30:14You're not stable. And.
- 30:19When we are over investing, when we are putting too much into
- 30:24somebody about and thinking that they are going to be all of
- 30:29that. I'm not saying you.
- 30:34Can't be hopeful about people but don't think that they are
- 30:38going to live up to your expectations because maybe they
- 30:43have a mindset that C is good enough, right?
- 30:50C is satisfactory. You want them to perform at an
- 30:55A+ level, but they are OK with C.
- 31:01And then you think. That they're actually delivering
- 31:04an F. Because they thought.
- 31:07C was fine. That was satisfactory.
- 31:12But they delivered. F and you were disappointed.
- 31:17But we're. If we're putting so much
- 31:20investment into somebody else, we're putting so many
- 31:23expectations on somebody else, the only person who really is
- 31:28disappointed is you. And you can't change them to be
- 31:32something more than they're not, right?
- 31:36They're not what you want them to be.
- 31:39They are who they are, and we can only be who we are.
- 31:44So the expectation lies back in ourselves about being realistic,
- 31:54giving grace and kindness, giving grace to ourselves,
- 32:02because maybe we thought that somebody was gonna, somebody
- 32:05else was going to rise to the occasion, and we didn't figure
- 32:08out how to go fix it ourselves. I mean I wish I had a magic
- 32:14genie that could fix the RV. But you know what?
- 32:19I actually get a lot of joy out of seeing the evolution of
- 32:25something evolving, and I can do it.
- 32:31So far you. Know expense wise, let's see,
- 32:35that was $200 last night. 50 bucks for.
- 32:39The jacks because I jacked it up so it's 2:50, I'm in.
- 32:49I have a. Little portable AC that's on the
- 32:52way. So that's almost 100.
- 32:54So it's 350 in. I need to get some floor tile
- 33:00that that'll be maybe another 50.
- 33:03It's not very much square footage.
- 33:06I've got a twin mattress out in the garage I can use or I can
- 33:11order AI, don't know. All in all, I think what I'll
- 33:17have spent to rehab this RV is 500 bucks.
- 33:22That's way cheaper than buying a new RV.
- 33:26I'll be happy with that. Yeah.
- 33:31So that I've got the air conditioner resolved,
- 33:34refrigerator works, stove works, hot water heater does not work.
- 33:39I have a I'm gonna have to get an Insta hot installed.
- 33:44I'm I have to figure that one out And let's see I have what's
- 33:50the other thing that's oh, there's a water leaks.
- 33:52There's some kind of water leak back there in the shower area.
- 33:55So I haven't used the shower. I I used the water with the the
- 34:01kitchen sink and I've got there's a water line.
- 34:06I'm going to have to I think open up the wall back there in
- 34:09the bedroom area there. It's not a bedroom.
- 34:13It's just a platform with the mattress, but I have to open up
- 34:18that wall and see if the PEC, the PEC's line is cracked or
- 34:23something. Chances are it's something
- 34:26pretty easy. I'm hoping that it's pretty
- 34:29easy. I can fix that no problem.
- 34:32Yeah, it's got the toilet. Toilet works.
- 34:36We'll be good. We'll be.
- 34:37Good. I don't know.
- 34:39Maybe. All in all, you know I might be
- 34:42out 750. That's still.
- 34:46Not bad, not bad, not bad, but I get to control what I'm doing
- 34:52and when I'm doing it. Oh, and yeah, I got.
- 34:56The roof kit, forgot to mention the roof kit, so that's on
- 34:59order. It should be here Monday and
- 35:02that's costing me 300 bucks. I got ladders, I got all that
- 35:08kind of stuff. Maybe have to have a little bit
- 35:10of help rolling it on. We'll see.
- 35:15We'll see. My point in all of that is we
- 35:19want to, you know, we had this, we have this thing in our head
- 35:24and thinking that somebody else is going to do something for us
- 35:29and we have to roll that back and say, well, how much can I
- 35:33contribute to this, right? How much?
- 35:39How much? I don't care whether it's your
- 35:42own care at the VA, if it's a relationship that you're doing.
- 35:48I mean, I've got a book up there.
- 35:49I remember, you know, when you're working on relationships.
- 35:56Have you ever thought? About like, if you're married,
- 36:01what are you doing to like, redate your spouse?
- 36:06What are you doing? To like.
- 36:08You know. I want to say Renew, and I
- 36:12forget which book it is. I saw you off the top of my
- 36:17head. I remember the name of it, but
- 36:20man, I'll just share. That was really, really good.
- 36:26Love, dare that's. What it was the love dare?
- 36:30Y'all haven't done that one. Love Dare is really good and
- 36:36that is just really kind of stretching you out of your
- 36:40comfort zone. So that's kind of.
- 36:44Like getting back to what that Lady said last night, we have to
- 36:48stretch ourselves out of our comfort zone.
- 36:51I've never, I have never refabbed an RV before.
- 36:55I have done demo at the color police station.
- 37:00I've done demo at a hospital. Yes, I own a used to own a
- 37:03construction company. I told you I can I I built a
- 37:08closet upstairs. Cody helped me.
- 37:12We built the closet. The only thing I had to hire a
- 37:14contractor for was to spray the splatter stuff on there and and
- 37:22because of the height of it I I paid him to paint.
- 37:26I'm very careful. About how much I think I'm
- 37:29having to, you know, count on somebody else to do things
- 37:32because I trust what I can do. I have a lot of confidence in
- 37:39myself and what I can do. But we try to.
- 37:43I think as a society we have tried to, well, let me hire
- 37:49somebody else to do that. Let me hire.
- 37:51And then we get disappointed because we get poor service.
- 37:55We put an investment in somebody else to do something that we
- 38:01chose to not do. Why are we lazy?
- 38:05We. Do we?
- 38:08Have we? Become so complacent to think
- 38:12that we can't stretch our boundaries and try something
- 38:17new. So that's why it's so important
- 38:19to go back to what this lady was talking about, the mindset of
- 38:23being disappointed versus a divine appointment.
- 38:26Sometimes that divine appointment's going to be with
- 38:29yourself and you're going to have the confidence and say,
- 38:30yeah, well, I can man. What I did, You know, what is
- 38:36it? I have.
- 38:37Yeah. The the mass of Nuttin Ultra
- 38:40tracks. That was kind of a.
- 38:43Divine appointment too I. I knew that it.
- 38:47Was a it was a hike, but I wasn't anticipating that kind of
- 38:53hike. That was like I, I think I
- 38:55almost bit off more than I can chew, but guess what?
- 38:59I chewed it. I did it, and I'm telling you
- 39:02that giving you affirmation for that, that you can do it too.
- 39:07I mean, look at what Joel's doing here.
- 39:10Look at what I'm doing here. I mean, we can do more than what
- 39:16we give ourselves credit for. We did it in the military and I
- 39:20get it. We have physical challenges.
- 39:24All right, Well, adjust fire. You know, one of the things that
- 39:28I did when I came back from the VA Golden Age games, I had an
- 39:33appointment scheduled with my primary care.
- 39:36I told her what I wanted to do. I and I talked about this last
- 39:42week, You know, I'm going to drop the bowling.
- 39:44I like to bowl. But I, I, I, I know the physical
- 39:50side of me says that's not the right sport for me to continue.
- 39:56So I'm still practicing the archery and looking forward to
- 40:00some competition for that. I, you know, joined, joined the
- 40:04National Archery Association. And let's see, I, I'm still
- 40:11gonna do the golfing. I gotta, it's too hot to golf
- 40:15right now. Sorry, it's just too hot to
- 40:18golf. But I will get back out on the
- 40:21range in the fall. It just got to cool off a little
- 40:25bit. You know, if you're not out
- 40:27there by 6/30, 7:00 in the morning here in Texas, give it
- 40:32up. It's not going to happen in
- 40:34Texas. Way too hot.
- 40:37So those are the my main 2 sports.
- 40:40But then when I mentioned getting the referral from my
- 40:45primary care inside the little, you know, medical database
- 40:52thing, wherever they have their, all their referral places that
- 40:56they can do referrals for ortho pain management, eyes, whatever.
- 41:01There's a section for adaptive sports.
- 41:05And because I saw it on the screen and I saw that the
- 41:10acronym in VGAG, that's the national veterans Golden Age
- 41:14games. That's the acronym.
- 41:17And I was like, that's it, that's it.
- 41:19I need the referral to adaptive sports because I know that the
- 41:25other option for me is to ride a bicycle.
- 41:29So why a recumbent bicycle is what I need?
- 41:33I have debris in my knee. I have 3 screws.
- 41:37In each knee and a knee replacement on my right.
- 41:44So I don't know what's. Happening with my left knee.
- 41:46I've kind of talked about this before, you know, having this
- 41:49extra debris in there. And so I can't kneel, which I'm
- 41:55Catholic, so not kneeling is not good.
- 41:57You know, you sit on the edge of the bench is the best I can do
- 42:02and that's kind of a little frustrating.
- 42:04But I also had to switch sides on my bed, which I'm OK with.
- 42:09It's, it's closer to the door. So that's all right.
- 42:12I'm just used to getting on the right instead of on the left.
- 42:14But but when we went to the water park and I had to climb
- 42:20the steps up for, you know, the water slides, my knee froze.
- 42:27That was kind of a little scary because I haven't had it freeze
- 42:31like that. It locked.
- 42:33And that's really the right term.
- 42:34It locked. So, you know, I, I'm kind of a
- 42:39little frustrated. You know, I understand and
- 42:42manage my own expectations about, you know, what do I do?
- 42:47I love hiking, but I until I get my knees figured out, especially
- 42:54this left knee, I'm having to manage my own expectation and
- 42:59not be disappointed. I don't want to be disappointed
- 43:03that I can't hike. So in.
- 43:09My brain I'm making a conscious shift into we're coming bicycle.
- 43:19Then what's the other part about why we're coming?
- 43:21Bicycle Eva? Well, if y'all have.
- 43:24Seen my other video I play sometimes, the intro video about
- 43:29the car wreck that happened on my 22nd birthday.
- 43:34I had three pelvic fractures from that accident.
- 43:39Yeah, 3 pelvic fractures. And ever since then, sitting on
- 43:46a normal bicycle is something that hurts.
- 43:49I have tried different seeds, I've tried different gel covers,
- 43:54different sizes of seeds. It doesn't matter.
- 43:58It's just no, it's that's not good for me that and you know,
- 44:03with all the back issues and stuff that I have as well,
- 44:08recumbent bike is going to be the thing.
- 44:10So I'm kind of looking, I'm really looking forward to
- 44:14exploring this new thing that is going to align.
- 44:17So if I have to have the knee surgery to get the debris out,
- 44:23you know, I have something that I can do therapy on and I can
- 44:27feel like I'm moving because I'm not one for sitting at home and
- 44:33twiddling my thumbs. I, I can get plenty of things
- 44:36done here, believe me. But I'm all about motion.
- 44:40I'm all about where am I going to go?
- 44:43What are we going to do? So, you know, I'm, I refuse to
- 44:49be disappointed. I look for those divine
- 44:53appointments because guess what? You can't have a divine
- 44:55appointment if you're sitting at home twiddling your thumbs,
- 44:59right? Don't you want the opportunity
- 45:02for the divine appointment? And that's what that Lady was
- 45:05last night. I, I, I, you know, with shared
- 45:08information. She goes, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
- 45:10look out for you. I'm gonna contact you.
- 45:12Believe me, so you know, it's I love when there are those events
- 45:22and I know that I'm I'm at the right place at the right time.
- 45:27God put me at the right place at the right time, and that's just
- 45:34that's just beautiful. I I challenge you look for those
- 45:38moments and just feel that warmth and know what's the right
- 45:44place at the right time. Thank you.
- 45:47That's a little gift from God, right, that's a little gift and
- 45:50just say all right, I got this you know I got this you have
- 45:56that confirmation and everything's gonna be fine.
- 45:59So what's what's looking up in the future, man y'all got I'm so
- 46:06I have a jam packed let's see August I'm gonna start covering
- 46:12this. I gotta got to help you guys
- 46:14out. So I have Keani Washington.
- 46:20She's got we had a great conversation a couple weeks ago.
- 46:26So she's going to join me on the 8th.
- 46:28Happy birthday to her. I think it's her son today.
- 46:31So happy, happy birthday to Keani's son.
- 46:37But she's going to join us next Saturday and talk about small
- 46:42business and how she's motivated as a veteran business owner to
- 46:46do stuff. And then the following on the
- 46:5315th. So I'm actually going to be
- 46:56camping with my kids with Carrie, Cole and Azure.
- 47:00I get to be Nana for the weekend.
- 47:03That will be a pre recorded show with an old army buddy of mine.
- 47:10So he's a Jag attorney. Well, he was a Jag attorney now
- 47:13he's retired. But so Rick Rousseau going to
- 47:18talk about claims and I will put more spiel out about him.
- 47:25And I have been inviting all kinds of people to join on the
- 47:29show. So, you know, hopefully we can
- 47:32confirm the dates on the 22nd and the 29th.
- 47:37But now let's see. I think I'm going to have to.
- 47:40I think I'm about to drive back to the East Coast.
- 47:43Dad. Yeah, I I probably will go
- 47:47ahead. And I don't know if I'll bring
- 47:48the trailer. I don't know.
- 47:52I might. I might.
- 47:53I'm thinking about it, but my good friend, why am I brain
- 47:59cramping on on his name rally for bets and I'm trying to get
- 48:05Jose. We're going to broadcast live.
- 48:09At least I will. Hopefully Jose can too.
- 48:12We're going to broadcast live from Dominion Raceway in
- 48:18Virginia. Commentate.
- 48:21We're I've already talked with Joel yesterday about how we can
- 48:25get the screens and we're going to commentate the race and it is
- 48:30going to be, it's a race guys, it's a race.
- 48:34So it'll be fun. There's different classes of the
- 48:37vehicles and all right, which branch is going to win is space
- 48:43for. So the Coasties going to show
- 48:44up. I don't know.
- 48:46We'll see, We'll see. I think the Marines won it last
- 48:52year. Maybe I have to bring some
- 48:56crayons for y'all. I don't know.
- 48:58We'll keep you in good spirits with some crayons.
- 49:01But Army's really representing on the on the race.
- 49:06So I was watching. Where did I find?
- 49:11If I can get back over to Facebook, I can go look and see
- 49:15what the count is. We go look, go look now help me
- 49:23find rally for vets. That's what I'm looking for.
- 49:29Where is the darn Sir? There it is Rally for vets.
- 49:35So, and once you sign up guys, there is a group for that so you
- 49:42can get, you know, all of the info on on you know, what the
- 49:51expectations are. Let me go ahead and share a
- 49:53screen on my Facebook so you can see for yourself.
- 49:58Rally for Vets. Here's the cat.
- 50:02Guys. If I can make that.
- 50:05Bigger. I can't even see that.
- 50:10I don't know. Wow.
- 50:15It is what it is. So Air Force right now y'all
- 50:20only got 3 representing army has 14 told you Army has the most
- 50:26sign ups? This is as of July 28th.
- 50:30Marine Corps has seven signed up.
- 50:32Navy has three. Coasties have two.
- 50:36No space force, no space force I'm going to copy the link for
- 50:42you guys and I'm going to drop it in the chat.
- 50:48So if y'all want to join you know if y'all haven't, if you've
- 50:55never heard of them, let me tell you about Raleigh for vets.
- 50:58So their mission we should be able to see.
- 51:02Oh man, here we go. So.
- 51:09Yeah, he, oh, he's even. Look at you, Montana.
- 51:15He was visiting in Montana and they put him on the local news.
- 51:22There you go. And we had so much fun last
- 51:27year. Lots of fun.
- 51:30I got to y'all, if y'all missed it, I, I told you I, I got to
- 51:36race in the car in the Miata last year.
- 51:40That was so much fun. Y'all know I love adrenaline.
- 51:45I, I didn't know I was so much into adrenaline junkie stuff and
- 51:51until the last few years and that this is one of those things
- 51:54that I enjoy. But yeah, lots of great
- 52:02pictures. So why do they do this?
- 52:04There is a charity that they have partnered with.
- 52:08Rally for Vets has partnered with a charity and they help
- 52:12raise the dogs, you know, good service dogs for our veterans.
- 52:19And, you know, that's a really important mission.
- 52:23There you go. See, they have, you know, who
- 52:29was that there? Yeah.
- 52:31There we go. I think some of these are the
- 52:32pictures that I took last year. But there you go.
- 52:37They race for something bigger. And it's about the, you know,
- 52:42service dogs and great organizations, great
- 52:47partnership. The camaraderie out there is
- 52:50really good, everybody helping each other, and I can't wait to
- 52:57be back out there and support this organization.
- 53:02But I think it's just going to be so much fun to, you know, to
- 53:06commentate this. And so I'm just letting you
- 53:11racers know y'all need to make sure that you are putting your
- 53:16little mini bio together that I can share.
- 53:21Jose and I are going to want to, you know, interview you if
- 53:24you're willing. Hopefully you will and we can
- 53:30talk about the great things about any of the other
- 53:33organizations that are out there supporting the cause.
- 53:38You know, last year it was a 2 day race, so apparently it's a
- 53:41one day race this year. So you have to get that practice
- 53:46in street cars are a bit were authorized.
- 53:50You have to make sure you have all of the right safety
- 53:53features. I am not trying to be your
- 53:56safety expert by any means, but I know that you have to have a
- 54:01helmet for sure. You have to have, you know, a
- 54:05good racing helmet. They're not too terribly
- 54:09expensive, but you got to have one.
- 54:13Cannot race trucks. I asked.
- 54:18I asked so. But you can race your streetcar.
- 54:22I don't know if they have other requirements about the extra
- 54:26safety harness and stuff like that.
- 54:29I told you I'm not the safety guru on it, but you might have a
- 54:33divine appointment. Just saying it's worth a try.
- 54:36Go out there. But it was a lot of fun.
- 54:39I grew up racing, my dad raced jeeps off road.
- 54:45So I why do y'all think I know how to do a lot of this stuff?
- 54:51Construction stuff, fixing cars. I can do that stuff too.
- 54:55Dad taught me right. Learned a lot in the military as
- 55:00well in the Army. You know, man, I was not afraid
- 55:02getting out there and mowed a pool and getting, getting greasy
- 55:05and dirty and packing some grease in the wheels.
- 55:08I did that no problem. Change the I remember one time
- 55:13in the Army, we had to, I was driving the Humvee.
- 55:16I was the colonel's driver. Guess who had to work on the
- 55:19Colonel's Humvee? Me, we had to take the tires off
- 55:25and put them on the wheels 'cause they were putting, sorry,
- 55:28we had to take the old tires off.
- 55:31They were trained changing, you know, tread types and put the
- 55:36new ones on. That was.
- 55:40They. Didn't know how to do that.
- 55:42I kind of knew how to do that, but it's kind of funny.
- 55:47It was kind of funny. I knew exactly how to work work
- 55:50that iron and work it around the wheel.
- 55:55Don't ever. Underestimate me.
- 55:57I'm just saying don't underestimate me.

- 57:17busy, busy because I'm going antelope hunting.
- 57:22So anywho, life is life is lifing, Life is busy.
- 57:28And I'm still doing all of my same nerdy stuff.
- 57:32You know, Cody was out there helping me today on the RV and
- 57:36he goes, You always got some kind of project, don't you?
- 57:40Yeah, I do. But you know what?
- 57:43And I don't mind as a devil's playground.
- 57:47And I'm going to close. It with this an idol?
- 57:49Mine is a devil's playground. You can sit at.
- 57:53Home and you can twiddle your thumbs and you can think that
