- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey everybody, it is Bob Guiney here from Almost Famous
- 0:09Speaker 2: the Ogs, and we are here with the Almost Famous
- 0:12Speaker 2: podcast today to talk about a recap, if you will.
- 0:16Speaker 2: We're counting down the top five most shocking moments to
- 0:19Speaker 2: happen at Bachelor Nation this year, and there's a bunch
- 0:22Speaker 2: of them. I mean, the fact that we were able
- 0:23Speaker 2: to nail this thing down to five is pretty incredible
- 0:26Speaker 2: given what we've all seen on the small screen this year.
- 0:30Speaker 2: So today we're going to kick it off with the
- 0:31Speaker 2: number five most shocking moment. This is again the top
- 0:35Speaker 2: five and this is number five, so it's the first one.
- 0:38Speaker 2: This one involves some heartbreak, right. A lot of he
- 0:42Speaker 2: said she said that came after this and it was
- 0:46Speaker 2: definitely something that I thought was a very interesting watch
- 0:50Speaker 2: at the time, and then we had a chance to
- 0:54Speaker 2: look back at it too, especially with how things turned
- 0:56Speaker 2: out kind of much after the fact. It really made
- 0:59Speaker 2: you say, hmmm. So one of those things that make
- 1:02Speaker 2: you say the number five most shocking moment this year
- 1:05Speaker 2: was come on now, Bachelor Grant dumping. Letia gar I know,
- 1:12Speaker 2: come on now, Ltia. This was Ltia's buzzword or buzz
- 1:16Speaker 2: saying that. She said a little bit, which I think
- 1:19Speaker 2: was her way of basically being like, Grant, you're not
- 1:23Speaker 2: fooling anyone here, okay, pal, So let's rewind a little.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Grant was Grant Els was previously on Gentran season, where
- 1:31Speaker 2: he was said home in weeks six, but then he
- 1:34Speaker 2: was immediately announced as the next season's bachelor after his elimination.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Grant's season premiered in January of this year January twenty
- 1:41Speaker 2: twenty five. The finale aired in March of twenty twenty five,
- 1:45Speaker 2: March twenty fourth, to the exact, which is where our
- 1:47Speaker 2: shocking elimination took place. Now, Grant's finale was filmed in
- 1:53Speaker 2: the beautiful Dominican Republic, and Grant played professional basketball for
- 1:57Speaker 2: a time in the Dominican Republic, so this place was
- 1:59Speaker 2: very him. So they kind of tailored things around Grant's
- 2:04Speaker 2: love for this region, this region, and when Letia met
- 2:07Speaker 2: Grant for their final moment, I mean she literally poured
- 2:12Speaker 2: her heart out to him. I mean she was saying
- 2:15Speaker 2: some stuff that was like, I mean, it's cringe worthy,
- 2:19Speaker 2: only because you realize he didn't choose her right. But
- 2:23Speaker 2: she's saying everything from since the moment, you know, I
- 2:27Speaker 2: knew this happened. That's when I fell in love with you.
- 2:29Speaker 2: That's when I knew I wanted to have your children.
- 2:31Speaker 2: That's when I knew we were going to have this
- 2:33Speaker 2: life together and we were going to just be so
- 2:35Speaker 2: in love. And you know, I will, I will love you,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and I will cherish you and our family and our children.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I will protect us. I mean, this woman was saying
- 2:44Speaker 2: some incredibly beautiful things that any man would love to
- 2:47Speaker 2: hear their future wife, you know, saying to them and
- 2:50Speaker 2: the future mother and their children, saying, but Grant, let
- 2:55Speaker 2: her go through the whole thing. Let her go through
- 2:57Speaker 2: the whole spiel, which was again very vulnerable, which was
- 3:01Speaker 2: something she had problems with throughout the course of the season.
- 3:02Speaker 2: And and and here she was just laying it all
- 3:06Speaker 2: on the line, thick, I mean, with confidence. And Grant
- 3:12Speaker 2: waited until she was done, of course, and man, you
- 3:15Speaker 2: had the sigh that you know, this is not good, right,
- 3:18Speaker 2: this is not working the way that it's supposed to.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And he said that he had an emotional connection, told
- 3:24Speaker 2: her how beautiful she was, told her, I love you
- 3:26Speaker 2: very much, and I want to give you everything you deserve,
- 3:29Speaker 2: but I'm not your person were his exact words, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: after some back and forth, he said, I'm truly sorry.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I hope you don't view me any differently, to which
- 3:38Speaker 2: Letia very famously said, well I do for sure. Come on, now,
- 3:42Speaker 2: come on now, Grant man, I will say this, this
- 3:48Speaker 2: was one of the in my opinion, one of the
- 3:53Speaker 2: sternest moments on the on the podium there on the
- 3:59Speaker 2: on the proposal stand whatever you call that thing, when
- 4:01Speaker 2: they got the final rose laying there and it's all
- 4:03Speaker 2: beautiful and someone's going to be getting proposed to, and
- 4:06Speaker 2: I will tell you from experience, you know. Grant kept defaulting, saying,
- 4:10Speaker 2: you know, well, I'm sorry because you know you don't
- 4:14Speaker 2: understand the situation I'm in how difficult it is. It's like, yeah, bro,
- 4:19Speaker 2: try being the fourth dude standing up there doing it
- 4:21Speaker 2: when I did it, And yeah, that's when you don't
- 4:24Speaker 2: know what's happening. When you're the seventy fourth bachelor whatever
- 4:28Speaker 2: he was. I don't even know, thirty fifth maybe whatever
- 4:31Speaker 2: he is. You know what's coming. Yeah, you might not
- 4:34Speaker 2: know personally how difficult it's going to be, but you know,
- 4:37Speaker 2: it's going to get real, and it's going to get awkward,
- 4:40Speaker 2: and it's going to get rough, right, I will say this,
- 4:43Speaker 2: you know, watching this on the podium, it did give
- 4:45Speaker 2: me a flashback to my season of The Bachelor. I
- 4:48Speaker 2: had Kelly Joe and Estella as my two finalists. Kelly Joe.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You know, one of the things I thought was really
- 4:56Speaker 2: interesting about Latia was how measured she was. Like, everything
- 4:59Speaker 2: was very very slow coming out of her mouth, you know,
- 5:02Speaker 2: and it wasn't like, I mean, I don't say that
- 5:04Speaker 2: no in a in a I mean, she's clearly very
- 5:06Speaker 2: intelligent and very you know, and but her delivery was
- 5:12Speaker 2: very deliberate, very slow and deliberate. Whereas my flashback of
- 5:17Speaker 2: this moment was Kelly Joe. I'm holding Kelly Joe's hands
- 5:21Speaker 2: and when I tell her she's not the one, she
- 5:22Speaker 2: throws my hands down and it's just like I'm out here,
- 5:25Speaker 2: you know. That one was was pretty dramatic as well,
- 5:29Speaker 2: but this I felt like Letia's departure in this moment
- 5:34Speaker 2: was even more direct and more I don't want to
- 5:40Speaker 2: say genuine, because Kelly Joe's reactions were very genuine, but
- 5:43Speaker 2: she was she decided that she was going to tell
- 5:45Speaker 2: him how wrong this was for her. And I actually
- 5:50Speaker 2: really as a viewer, appreciated that, you know, I appreciated
- 5:54Speaker 2: kind of getting to know that, you know, well, what
- 5:56Speaker 2: about all these things you told me? What about all
- 5:58Speaker 2: these things you said? Like what's going on here? You know?
- 6:01Speaker 2: And and in fact, the dramatic breakup did continue, because
- 6:06Speaker 2: we even had Latia on the podcast where she gave
- 6:09Speaker 2: us even more information.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I think initially when I went home and I'm like
- 6:13Speaker 3: driving away in the car, I'm like, what was that? Like,
- 6:17Speaker 3: I'm so like confused, Like I just had the rug
- 6:20Speaker 3: pulled and I have no context or anything. And I
- 6:24Speaker 3: think like as I sat at home, I was like, Okay, yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 3: it was a little bit of a bubble, and like
- 6:29Speaker 3: I kind of it kind of starts to click that
- 6:31Speaker 3: like I really didn't have that much time with him,
- 6:33Speaker 3: so there really were so many gaps that were like big,
- 6:37Speaker 3: and I just missed so many like parts of his
- 6:40Speaker 3: personality and there was just like missing context for so much.
- 6:43Speaker 3: And then for sure watching it back and seeing like
- 6:45Speaker 3: other people's conversations added even like a different layer of
- 6:50Speaker 3: perspective where I was like Okay, Yeah, Like the conversations
- 6:55Speaker 3: that he's having with other people are not aligned with
- 6:57Speaker 3: the version that I that I in my head while
- 7:00Speaker 3: I was filming, And so it's like you continue to learn,
- 7:04Speaker 3: and I think that's like with any breakup, you know,
- 7:06Speaker 3: like you continued, like it kind of continues to make
- 7:09Speaker 3: sense more and more as you get away from it,
- 7:11Speaker 3: and as like your feelings kind of like fade away.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Latia also later hashed it out with Grant on after
- 7:27Speaker 2: the Final Rose with Jesse Palmer, where this is where
- 7:31Speaker 2: we all kind of got to see what's going on
- 7:33Speaker 2: behind the curtain, right, She called Grant out for all
- 7:35Speaker 2: the things that led her on throughout the season. She
- 7:39Speaker 2: said that Grant had told her right out of the
- 7:41Speaker 2: gates she was his number one connection and from the
- 7:45Speaker 2: first aid he knew she was his wife, you know.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Lytia also told Ashley about this when she came on
- 7:52Speaker 2: a podcast to take a listen to me say I
- 7:55Speaker 2: love you and said like you're the one. Yeah several times.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah it was that. He said it the
- 8:05Speaker 3: first time. I think he said it on FaceTime to
- 8:07Speaker 3: my mom, and he said it like throughout the date,
- 8:10Speaker 3: like the puppy date. He said it like a bunch
- 8:12Speaker 3: of times, and I remember looking at like, like, I
- 8:16Speaker 3: literally looked at Bradford and I was like, are you, like,
- 8:19Speaker 3: if you like allowed to say stuff like that?
- 8:21Speaker 2: And you know I was. It was.
- 8:25Speaker 3: He continued to say it the whole time, whether or
- 8:27Speaker 3: not he was supposed to, and I know that they
- 8:29Speaker 3: talked to him about it several times, but yeah, he
- 8:32Speaker 3: kept saying it.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So man, watching the after the final Rose moment, I
- 8:36Speaker 2: will say this, I don't know that we've ever had
- 8:41Speaker 2: I mean, we've had a lot. We've had a lot
- 8:42Speaker 2: of you know, drama on the after the final Rose moments,
- 8:45Speaker 2: typically with the runner ups, you know, kind of getting
- 8:48Speaker 2: settle on the score a little bit, if you will that.
- 8:50Speaker 2: And that's good because I think, you know, one of
- 8:52Speaker 2: the things that we forget is that. And I say
- 8:54Speaker 2: this a lot, but you know these shows, people that
- 8:58Speaker 2: people that go on these shows don't have a hard
- 9:00Speaker 2: time finding a date, right, I Mean I remember people
- 9:02Speaker 2: always going why would you go on a show like this.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You're a good looking guy or you're a good looking girl.
- 9:05Speaker 2: You don't need you don't have any problems finding a date. No,
- 9:08Speaker 2: people that go on these shows have zero problems typically
- 9:11Speaker 2: finding a date. In fact, I always say this with
- 9:14Speaker 2: the women on the show, it's not even about the
- 9:16Speaker 2: guy half the time when it starts. It's about the
- 9:18Speaker 2: fact that these women are all highly successful, highly driven women,
- 9:24Speaker 2: and they also happen to be very beautiful, and they
- 9:28Speaker 2: also happen to know that they like winning things, and
- 9:31Speaker 2: at the end of the day, they're not going home
- 9:33Speaker 2: if this checks stay in right. I'm not saying that
- 9:35Speaker 2: that was what this was with Letia, because I think
- 9:37Speaker 2: this was my much deeper thing than that. But you
- 9:40Speaker 2: have a woman who is very very put together, very beautiful,
- 9:45Speaker 2: very accomplished, and very sure of herself, sure of herself
- 9:51Speaker 2: because of these conversations she's had with Grant behind the scenes,
- 9:54Speaker 2: you know, where she thinks she's the number one thing
- 9:56Speaker 2: going into this. She's it right, and so she's making plans.
- 10:00Speaker 2: She's got a vision. I mean, she probably had a
- 10:02Speaker 2: vision board back in her in her room right with
- 10:04Speaker 2: all the babies of the future on there. But it
- 10:08Speaker 2: was interesting because ultimately Grant did choose Juliana and they
- 10:15Speaker 2: did get engaged. The engagement was very short lived. They
- 10:18Speaker 2: probably called it quits not too long. Thereafter, both have
- 10:21Speaker 2: gone back and forth in the press talking about when
- 10:24Speaker 2: they decided to call it off. Grant made comments on
- 10:26Speaker 2: social media videos about not being heartbroken by the breakup,
- 10:30Speaker 2: which was really dumb to say, because, in my opinion,
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, look, if nothing else, show some grace, right,
- 10:40Speaker 2: show some respect for the fact that you went through
- 10:42Speaker 2: this process together, you come out of it the other side.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Don't be a knob and be like, you know, oh
- 10:48Speaker 2: well I don't I'm not heartbroken. You know, I'm fine, really,
- 10:52Speaker 2: because you proposed to this person, so what does that mean?
- 10:55Speaker 2: And you let someone else go who you said was
- 10:59Speaker 2: your wife, and now you're simply not heartbroken. You're too
- 11:03Speaker 2: callous to care. I just think that in those moments.
- 11:06Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting to me how people try to
- 11:08Speaker 2: save face, and you know, maybe they do a whole
- 11:12Speaker 2: lot better if they had a little humility and thought
- 11:15Speaker 2: about how their words would affect other people. Because whether
- 11:19Speaker 2: or not, you know, the show has thirty million viewers
- 11:22Speaker 2: or three million viewers or thirty viewers, the people that
- 11:25Speaker 2: are watching that show are people who have cared about
- 11:27Speaker 2: you or you cared about at one point, and you
- 11:30Speaker 2: need to be careful with how you handle their feelings,
- 11:32Speaker 2: especially after the fact when things don't work out, because
- 11:35Speaker 2: there is embarrassment there. There is, you know, not only
- 11:38Speaker 2: is it a breakup, which you know, breaks everyone's heart
- 11:41Speaker 2: who's involved in it. I don't care what Grant said,
- 11:43Speaker 2: but I'm sure he was experiencing a little bit of
- 11:45Speaker 2: heartbreak as well. But it's also on a main stage.
- 11:49Speaker 2: It's not a big stage. And when you're on a
- 11:51Speaker 2: big stage like this again, no matter whether it's thirty
- 11:54Speaker 2: million viewers like back in the day, or you know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: five million viewers, like whatever the number is, it's a
- 12:00Speaker 2: lot of people who think they know your business and
- 12:02Speaker 2: now they're judging you for not making it work. And
- 12:04Speaker 2: you got to see that, right, You got to be
- 12:06Speaker 2: cognizant of that. You got to be careful with people's
- 12:09Speaker 2: hearts when those moments happened. So, but Bachelor fans were
- 12:13Speaker 2: really actually shocked about Grant not choosing Letilla, you know
- 12:20Speaker 2: they were, they were really shocked about this, and and
- 12:22Speaker 2: I think that, you know, I was shocked. I thought
- 12:26Speaker 2: she was his choice for sure. And I remember I
- 12:29Speaker 2: didn't watch this finale, and I remember seeing the headlines
- 12:33Speaker 2: the next day and being like what, I did not
- 12:35Speaker 2: see this coming, but you know, hey, sometimes these moments
- 12:40Speaker 2: are a catalyst for people to really kickstart their life
- 12:43Speaker 2: in a different direction and to really take things up
- 12:46Speaker 2: a notch, maybe in their personal life or definitely in
- 12:47Speaker 2: their professional life. Like they use it as a springboard.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I'm not saying like selling tooth whitening kits, but I'm
- 12:53Speaker 2: saying like, maybe they use this as an opportunity to
- 12:55Speaker 2: gut check and be like, all right, I did something
- 12:58Speaker 2: that you know would have normally scared the hell out
- 12:59Speaker 2: of me, and now I'm better for it. So here
- 13:01Speaker 2: we go, and Latia has she's been living her best
- 13:04Speaker 2: life since the show. She's in Utah. She's hinted that
- 13:08Speaker 2: we might actually see her on future seasons of Secret
- 13:11Speaker 2: Lives of Mormon Wives. I don't know if that means
- 13:13Speaker 2: she's going Mormon. I don't know what that means, or
- 13:15Speaker 2: if maybe she's a friend of the cast. Probably more
- 13:17Speaker 2: like that. But Bachelor fans, you know, ultimately we're seeing
- 13:20Speaker 2: Latia live her best life now right she is in Utah.
- 13:23Speaker 2: She's hinted us that we might see her pop up
- 13:25Speaker 2: on future seasons of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which
- 13:29Speaker 2: I actually have never watched that show, but now with
- 13:32Speaker 2: our new casting, I'm gonna start watching it. Yeah, my
- 13:35Speaker 2: wife and I decide we're gonna start watching that show.
- 13:37Speaker 2: So that would be very interesting to see Letia doing that.
- 13:41Speaker 2: But ultimately, you know, the Grant. The Grant Lytia breakup
- 13:45Speaker 2: comes in as our number five most shocking moment in
- 13:48Speaker 2: twenty twenty five in Bachelor Nation, the Grant Ltia breakup.
- 13:52Speaker 2: We haven't heard from Grant much since unless you follow
- 13:54Speaker 2: them on social media, but we're probably gonna hear a
- 13:56Speaker 2: lot from Lytia. So there you go, everybody, that is
- 13:59Speaker 2: your number five. I can't wait to see what the
- 14:01Speaker 2: other four will be in this top five Shocking moments
- 14:05Speaker 2: of twenty twenty five Imbashi Nation. I have been your
- 14:07Speaker 2: OG host Bob Guinea signing off, Happy New Year. Everybody.
