- 1:35Speaker 1: I watched the Substance apparently I was blackout drunk over Thanksgiving,
- 1:39Speaker 1: because I didn't really remember so much of it. And
- 1:42Speaker 1: it is wild.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It is wild.

- 2:10Speaker 1: do helps and so thank you in advance banks. Now,
- 2:15Speaker 1: before we get into the season premiere of Welcome to Platfill,
- 2:20Speaker 1: I have to ask you, Beatrice, whether you have any
- 2:23Speaker 1: salient points and or takeaways that you would like to
- 2:26Speaker 1: offer to the Dumpster. Well, first of all, I'm so
- 2:29Speaker 1: excited for this season too. This shit looks so l yes,
- 2:32Speaker 1: it does.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And my major takeaway, honestly, I know this is going
- 2:35Speaker 2: to be controversial. Zach gives me weird fucking vibes, dude,
- 2:40Speaker 2: And it's not because people think he's gay or whatever.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I am literally a homosexual myself. I don't care, obviously,
- 2:47Speaker 2: rumor about you, in case you didn't know. I love
- 2:51Speaker 2: the gays obviously because I'm one of them. I don't
- 2:53Speaker 2: even think it's that he just rubs me the wrong way.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I just don't get good vibes from him. I didn't
- 2:59Speaker 2: get vibes from him last season. There's just something about
- 3:02Speaker 2: him I don't.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Like, can you be specific.
- 3:05Speaker 2: It's just his vibe, Like the way he looks at Lydia,
- 3:08Speaker 2: the way he talks to her, Like he doesn't act
- 3:10Speaker 2: like he's like married to such a beautiful girl. He's
- 3:14Speaker 2: not really super affectionate. And I can't be too critical
- 3:18Speaker 2: of that because maybe that's just who he is. I
- 3:20Speaker 2: don't know. It just feels very odd, like Lydia is
- 3:24Speaker 2: very sprung. Oh yeah, she wants to bounce on him, apparently,
- 3:30Speaker 2: girl she wants to have his babies, and he just
- 3:33Speaker 2: seems like ew, like, no, you're grossing me out. You're
- 3:37Speaker 2: too naughty, it's too much. That's my vibe, and I
- 3:40Speaker 2: just don't really like it.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough, Yeah, we'll talk about those parts when
- 3:44Speaker 1: we get there. I've got two takeaways, one for the
- 3:48Speaker 1: general pop, the Gen Pop, and the second one for
- 3:51Speaker 1: our uncensored girlies and boys. So let me start with
- 3:55Speaker 1: my first takeaway for the Gen Pop. I think Michael
- 3:58Speaker 1: looks so handsome, Oh handsome. I thought the long hair
- 4:02Speaker 1: and the facial hair looked really great on him. He
- 4:06Speaker 1: still seems his affect generally is still kind of traumatized. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 1: after spending so much time with that veronical woman in Florida,
- 4:17Speaker 1: like getting his bearings back together. But I just thought
- 4:20Speaker 1: that he looked great and it was nice to see him.
- 4:22Speaker 1: And furthermore, it's really nice to see Mariah. Yeah, she
- 4:26Speaker 1: looked beautiful, she looked happy. Yeah, she was smiling. She
- 4:29Speaker 1: wasn't mainlining red wine, yes, so I was excited to
- 4:33Speaker 1: see her as well.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I agree, And now for.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Our uncensored takeaway, Let's get the uncensored part and now
- 4:40Speaker 1: back to our regular scheduled programming. I'm sorry, patrons, if
- 4:44Speaker 1: that was a bit inflammatory, but I don't give the fuck.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So without further too, let's get into our recap of
- 4:51Speaker 1: Welcome to blathvill Season eight, Episode one.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Entu old practice what you preach. Okay, we start off
- 5:00Speaker 2: with some check ins with some of the family members.
- 5:02Speaker 2: So we start off with Kim and she has apparently
- 5:05Speaker 2: moved back into the original Plath family farmhouse.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Does that mean she got it in the divorce?
- 5:12Speaker 3: It seems it's like implied that she got it back.
- 5:15Speaker 3: She didn't quite say that though, did she But they
- 5:18Speaker 3: were using it as a rental property, and I thought
- 5:21Speaker 3: that she had left that because she had too many
- 5:24Speaker 3: memories there and she didn't want to be associated with it.
- 5:27Speaker 3: My personal theory is that she is broke as fuck,
- 5:30Speaker 3: and maybe she negotiated something with Barry in the divorce
- 5:34Speaker 3: settlement or something, and maybe like in lieu of alimony,
- 5:38Speaker 3: for example, or in lieu of how much alimony she
- 5:41Speaker 3: was maybe requesting. He was like, look, I'll let you
- 5:44Speaker 3: live in the farmhouse that we owned together, but you
- 5:47Speaker 3: know you can live there for free because you're a
- 5:49Speaker 3: broke gas pitch.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Because she did not say outright that she won
- 5:52Speaker 1: the home in the settlement, and I think she would
- 5:54Speaker 1: have said that if she had well.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And apparently Barry still comes by.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Right to the farmhouse, which is like proverbial pissing all
- 6:02Speaker 1: over his property because maybe he still owns it or
- 6:05Speaker 1: owns a share of it.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Look, I kind of love that me too. That's looking off.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So she looks out the kitchen window and there's Barry
- 6:13Speaker 1: on a boat and he's all jacking of the world.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I just I think that's great. Yeah, that's exactly what
- 6:18Speaker 2: you deserve. And it's just so weird to me that
- 6:22Speaker 2: Kim is now back in the farmhouse after she was
- 6:24Speaker 2: so insistent on getting her independence. She had her little
- 6:27Speaker 2: ballet studio that apparently doesn't exist.
- 6:31Speaker 1: What happened to that?
- 6:32Speaker 2: I mean, or like her weird apartment above the ballet studio,
- 6:35Speaker 2: Like where is that? We're not going to talk about it, okay,
- 6:38Speaker 2: But she's back in the family farmhouse with the three
- 6:41Speaker 2: little girls that are not so little.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Anymore, Amber, Cassia and Mercy.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yep, And they share custody burying Kim. Of the girls
- 6:51Speaker 2: fifty to fifty, and they's somewhat, well, not somewhat, they're
- 6:54Speaker 2: pretty cordial with each other. Mainly for the sake of
- 6:57Speaker 2: the kids and stuff, which is great. But the other
- 7:00Speaker 2: her juicy tidbit is that Kim's boyfriend Ken is now
- 7:05Speaker 2: living with her.
- 7:06Speaker 1: The one eyed racist from Facebook. I'm sorry, I'm gonna
- 7:09Speaker 1: call it out every single time. He's not He's got
- 7:11Speaker 1: two eyes, but one of them don't seem to work
- 7:13Speaker 1: or whatever. And I don't know if he can actually
- 7:15Speaker 1: see Kim right in front of him word to miss.
- 7:18Speaker 1: But yeah, so he's moved into Barry's former home.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I just think, like the audacity, Yes, that's really crazy
- 7:26Speaker 2: to me, Like, you go and have an affair allegedly
- 7:29Speaker 2: with this man I believe, but I believe it too,
- 7:32Speaker 2: Like you go and have an affair, you break up
- 7:33Speaker 2: your entire family, you get a dui, you become a
- 7:36Speaker 2: big old drunk emphasis on stop it, stop it, And
- 7:41Speaker 2: then you move back into the Platt family home, Like
- 7:43Speaker 2: that's crazy to me.
- 7:45Speaker 1: And you bring your paramore, bring him the guy you
- 7:48Speaker 1: cheated with, and it's like he's not really a prize.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I'm just like, that's what you left Barry for.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Why doesn't he have a home anymore? Is he trying
- 7:57Speaker 1: to be a star like zach I.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Thought he had a home in Florida that he sold it.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Remember that he sold it for like six or seven
- 8:04Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars. And we were wondering at the time
- 8:07Speaker 1: last season, like, Okay, where did you go? Do you
- 8:09Speaker 1: have a job? Are you gainfully employed? But it looks
- 8:13Speaker 1: like he just wants to attach himself to the Plath family.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And now he's living at the farm with everybody else,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I mean, yeats and dogs and Ken.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It seems like he got it made. He's like, cool,
- 8:24Speaker 2: I'll be a barnacle on your ship, Kim, and we'll
- 8:26Speaker 2: just live here rent free and get drunk. I guess
- 8:31Speaker 2: I'm just like, wow, okay with your jukebox, Oh my god.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And you're weird old man memorabilia. So he got a
- 8:38Speaker 1: shit into the farmhouse where he's living with young teenage girls.
- 8:42Speaker 1: That's weird. He's making those girls listen to eighties rock
- 8:46Speaker 1: on his jukebox. I'm just cringing.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So so bad. I just don't like it at all.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And I really hope we get to hear from some
- 8:54Speaker 2: of the younger girls about what they think about that
- 8:57Speaker 2: situation and how they feel about Ken, And it would
- 9:00Speaker 2: be nice to get their perspective, because if I was
- 9:02Speaker 2: living in that house, I probably would hate my wife,
- 9:05Speaker 2: just saying. And then we go to check in with
- 9:07Speaker 2: Zach and Lydia at their apartment in Tallahassee. They are
- 9:12Speaker 2: newly married. It's been about eight months since the wedding,
- 9:15Speaker 2: and obviously the wedding last season was full of drama
- 9:21Speaker 2: and tension, and Lydia and Zach are still reeling from that.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Obviously they're still I don't want to say traumatized, but
- 9:30Speaker 2: they are pretty dramatized. Well.
- 9:31Speaker 1: But the thing is, I don't think they were aware
- 9:34Speaker 1: when it was happening, right, I mean, maybe they were
- 9:37Speaker 1: aware that there was a fight between Micah and Isaac,
- 9:40Speaker 1: although I actually think that they had left for their
- 9:42Speaker 1: honeymoon by then. Sorry guys, I'm losing my voice if
- 9:44Speaker 1: I sound weird, But I don't think they knew how
- 9:47Speaker 1: Ethan was acting, for example, yeah, or doing his rage
- 9:51Speaker 1: push ups and throwing tables or Kim or all of
- 9:54Speaker 1: the things that were actually said. And so it's as
- 9:56Speaker 1: they're watching it back and they're looking at last season
- 9:59Speaker 1: that they realize, oh shit, these people were talking Hella
- 10:03Speaker 1: crazy about us. Yeah, and they got in their feelings
- 10:07Speaker 1: and I would too, of course.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I mean it was really terrible, and we talked about
- 10:10Speaker 2: that extensively last season, like it was not fair, especially
- 10:13Speaker 2: to Lydia, who was so excited to get married to
- 10:17Speaker 2: Zach for some reason, and she was just really looking
- 10:19Speaker 2: forward to like moving on with her life and it
- 10:23Speaker 2: was obviously not the best time. And so they're planning
- 10:27Speaker 2: to talk to the family later in the episode about it.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But when we're at their apartment, we're checking in with
- 10:33Speaker 2: them about their relationship, they are like happily happy. They're
- 10:38Speaker 2: in their honeymoon phase. Apparently. They said it's super easy
- 10:42Speaker 2: to like live with each other. They have no issues.
- 10:45Speaker 2: But then we start talking about like starting a family,
- 10:49Speaker 2: and Lydia in particular is so ready to be a mother,
- 10:53Speaker 2: like she wants to be a mother yesterday, and Zach's like, no,
- 10:56Speaker 2: let's wait a year, which I mean is fine, that's
- 10:59Speaker 2: re but Lydia is like, okay, we have four months
- 11:03Speaker 2: to go now, and I'm just kind of getting the
- 11:05Speaker 2: vibe a little bit that I'm like, are y'all waiting
- 11:08Speaker 2: to fuck for a year? Like, are you guys not intimate?
- 11:12Speaker 2: Because then we have a conversation about like their intimacy
- 11:18Speaker 2: kind of and Zach alludes to the fact that Lydia
- 11:22Speaker 2: is a bit naughty after ten PM, and I just
- 11:26Speaker 2: got the vibe that he has the dick. But that's
- 11:29Speaker 2: just me.
- 11:30Speaker 1: He says something like I opened up her curiosity to
- 11:34Speaker 1: romantic experiences, alluding to the fact that he's opened. He's
- 11:41Speaker 1: cracked open.
- 11:43Speaker 2: That's he's cracked open.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Us got up all idiot. And Lydia loves the dick,
- 11:49Speaker 1: I guess, and she's insatia pole she wants it all
- 11:52Speaker 1: the time. And the producer is like, Lydia, I think
- 11:56Speaker 1: Zach's calling you naughty, and she's like, yes, so clear
- 12:00Speaker 1: they're fucking She seems to love it, but I would
- 12:03Speaker 1: couldn'cur when you look at his face and also his
- 12:06Speaker 1: body language. Yeah, like when they're sitting next to each other,
- 12:09Speaker 1: like he's always kind of pulling away a little bit.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Either Lydia is being too much or too needy, or
- 12:16Speaker 1: he's just not that into.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Her, And that's kind of the vibe that I'm getting,
- 12:19Speaker 2: And like, I can't tell what it is, like if
- 12:21Speaker 2: he's just not into her or if she's just being
- 12:23Speaker 2: a lot. She does kind of seem like all over him,
- 12:27Speaker 2: and they do talk about how Zach is no longer
- 12:29Speaker 2: wearing glasses. He's wearing contacts because Lydia is just making
- 12:33Speaker 2: out with him all the time and it smudges his
- 12:35Speaker 2: glasses or something. And he just doesn't seem like excited.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Sup thrilled about it you think he would be.
- 12:42Speaker 2: And I'm just like looking at them and I'm like, Lydia.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Is so beautiful, I can't take it. She is so beautiful,
- 12:48Speaker 1: so quintessentially beautiful, the jewels of her eyes. She doesn't
- 12:54Speaker 1: wear a ton of makeup. She dresses really cute. Yes,
- 12:58Speaker 1: her body is bang in.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yep.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Here's the thing. If you guys had waited to get married,
- 13:05Speaker 1: you could have learned more about each other. Maybe Lydia
- 13:08Speaker 1: could have chilled out a little bit. Maybe she could
- 13:10Speaker 1: have seen you, Zach, for where you were at truly,
- 13:13Speaker 1: but like you didn't. You rushed into the wedding and
- 13:16Speaker 1: now here we are eight months later and she seems happy.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I do question Zach and how he's feeling.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And that's what has me worried a bit, Like I
- 13:25Speaker 2: want Lydia to be happy, and if she is in
- 13:27Speaker 2: love with Zach, then that's awesome, and I fully support
- 13:31Speaker 2: it and everything, but it just seems weird. Their vibe
- 13:35Speaker 2: seems weird. They don't give off the energy that their
- 13:38Speaker 2: newlyweds really like when I was newly married. I mean, she.
- 13:46Speaker 1: It was fine for those of you knew to the pod.
- 13:48Speaker 1: This is my daughter in law, she's married to my daughter.
- 13:51Speaker 2: But it's just like, it just doesn't give me that vibe.
- 13:54Speaker 2: And I just worry a bit. And I'm not gonna
- 13:58Speaker 2: make any insinuations about his section ruality or anything like
- 14:01Speaker 2: that because well but I mean everyone's.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Talking about it online too, I guess, so I do
- 14:08Speaker 1: think that's inappropriate. I just think he's a little nerdy,
- 14:11Speaker 1: he's a little quirky. Let's hope he's different. It looks
- 14:14Speaker 1: like he was raised like coddled, maybe a little bit,
- 14:18Speaker 1: probably homeschooled, doesn't have a lot of worldly experience. I
- 14:22Speaker 1: guess maybe he can gain that experience. My primary question,
- 14:27Speaker 1: besides whether he really likes her, is does he work?
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, like, what is he doing?
- 14:32Speaker 1: Because the last I heard he was some sort of
- 14:35Speaker 1: an ambiguous tennis instructor. Wanna be right, and so he
- 14:39Speaker 1: moved to kro or Tallahassee for all of the opportunities
- 14:43Speaker 1: for tennis instructors or whatever. Yeah, so I don't really
- 14:46Speaker 1: know if he's gainfully employed. Is he just moving to
- 14:49Speaker 1: Georgia because he wants to be on the show. And
- 14:52Speaker 1: that is the question you have to ask yourself, Lydia, Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 1: is this a clout chasing motherfucker? Or does this man
- 14:58Speaker 1: love you? Exactly?
- 15:00Speaker 2: And she's so naive that she's just gonna go along
- 15:03Speaker 2: with it, and she is so like indoctrinated in this structure,
- 15:07Speaker 2: in this religion as well to be like I'm gonna
- 15:09Speaker 2: respect my husband no matter what, and I'm gonna follow him,
- 15:13Speaker 2: and I'm gonna submit, and I'm gonna be this like
- 15:15Speaker 2: traditional wife. And I just worry about her.
- 15:18Speaker 1: She's like, I love to clean from my Husbandian and
- 15:21Speaker 1: that's great. And I love to cook through my houseman,
- 15:25Speaker 1: Like what does he do? But you're twenty one years old.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Please talk to me when you're thirty five, much less
- 15:30Speaker 1: forty five for real, and you've been with this weird
- 15:33Speaker 1: gentleman for all of these years and if you still
- 15:35Speaker 1: love to cook for him, but like, y'ah, bless, I
- 15:37Speaker 1: hope they're happy me too.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And I guess We'll see how the season goes with Yes,
- 15:41Speaker 2: maybe I will warm up to him, but right now the.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Vibe is off okay for me, so noted.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Then we go back to the Plath family farm and
- 15:48Speaker 2: we check in with Ethan as well as the rest
- 15:51Speaker 2: of the Plath kids, but we start with Ethan.
- 15:54Speaker 1: That should have been my takeaway what there is no
- 15:58Speaker 1: character arc for Ethan Plaith. It's not like he starts
- 16:02Speaker 1: somewhere and then works on himself and becomes a better man,
- 16:08Speaker 1: much less person. He's the same disgruntled, bitter, rage filled, undereducated,
- 16:17Speaker 1: emotionally stunted asshole that he's always been. Actually, in season
- 16:22Speaker 1: one when he was learning how to order a pepsi
- 16:24Speaker 1: or a coke at the restaurant and he was smiling
- 16:27Speaker 1: all the time because he was getting the cookie from Olivia.
- 16:29Speaker 1: He seems like a happy person then, and maybe even
- 16:33Speaker 1: season two. But the Ethan that we're seeing in season
- 16:36Speaker 1: eight is so unlikable. I can barely stand him on
- 16:41Speaker 1: my television.
- 16:42Speaker 2: He's just so negative, like he just got he's just
- 16:45Speaker 2: got like a dark cloud over him all the fucking time,
- 16:48Speaker 2: and he's got this grimace on him, and like even
- 16:50Speaker 2: in the earlier seasons, he was portraying himself a lot nicer,
- 16:55Speaker 2: like he was doing things for Olivia, and I know
- 16:57Speaker 2: that's up for debate with some of the Olivia stands
- 16:59Speaker 2: and stuff. He was trying to nurture their relationship. But
- 17:02Speaker 2: now it's like we're talking about him and Teagan, who
- 17:06Speaker 2: he was dating last season. They apparently broke up, and
- 17:10Speaker 2: the way that he recounts it, I will give him credit.
- 17:12Speaker 2: He takes ownership a little bit for the fact that
- 17:15Speaker 2: it was kind of his fault because they couldn't make
- 17:18Speaker 2: the long distance work and he kept telling her, Oh,
- 17:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna move to Wisconsin. I'm gonna move to Wisconsin,
- 17:23Speaker 2: but he never did that. And you can only tell
- 17:26Speaker 2: somebody that you're going to do something over and over
- 17:28Speaker 2: again until they realize it's never gonna really happen.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Doesn't that mean, though, that he was lying to her?
- 17:35Speaker 1: And doesn't it feel like Ethan was purposefully lying to
- 17:38Speaker 1: her and stringing her along and doing what the fuck
- 17:42Speaker 1: he wanted to do even though this young mom, she's
- 17:45Speaker 1: got a child that's remember she's a divorcee. Yeah, and
- 17:48Speaker 1: she's in Wisconsin waiting for him to move there, and
- 17:53Speaker 1: he never truly intended to do so.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I think he was just placating her because he was
- 17:59Speaker 2: in love with her. But that's not that doesn't mean
- 18:01Speaker 2: that's a good thing.
- 18:02Speaker 1: That you're in love with her, right, you would move
- 18:04Speaker 1: there exactly, You would want to be there, you would
- 18:07Speaker 1: want to be coming step parent, you would want to
- 18:09Speaker 1: do all the things that come part and parcel with
- 18:11Speaker 1: a commitment. But he never did those things. And so
- 18:14Speaker 1: the question for me, Beatrice is like, is it because
- 18:17Speaker 1: he's still a little bit in love with Olivia? And
- 18:21Speaker 1: then we get to Olivia and the games that she
- 18:24Speaker 1: is playing.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so apparently the other issue that broke up Teagan
- 18:30Speaker 2: and Ethan was the fact that he is still legally
- 18:32Speaker 2: married to Olivia, because, according to Ethan, Olivia won't sign
- 18:38Speaker 2: divorce papers or won't file it because she's always traveling
- 18:42Speaker 2: out of the country and she's apparently telling Ethan that
- 18:46Speaker 2: she will get around it when she comes back to
- 18:48Speaker 2: the States, But then she comes back and nothing ever happens,
- 18:51Speaker 2: and then his lawyer has to refile everything, and it's
- 18:54Speaker 2: just this constant back and forth, and if we are
- 18:57Speaker 2: to believe Ethan, that's kind of juicy.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I love it.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I love it too.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm no stan of Olivia, but after last season when
- 19:07Speaker 1: he made her wait for two hours to have their
- 19:09Speaker 1: final conversation and then just bounced as soon as it
- 19:13Speaker 1: wasn't going his way for her to turn around and say, Okay, well,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I'm not going to sign any of these papers. I
- 19:18Speaker 1: don't need to. Why don't you make me? And he
- 19:21Speaker 1: could because you can force a divorce if somebody's not participating,
- 19:24Speaker 1: they can't make you or require you to stay married.
- 19:27Speaker 1: So Ethan, just have your attorney do the things that
- 19:30Speaker 1: he or she needs to do in order to affect
- 19:31Speaker 1: this divorce. But that costs money, yeah, and that takes
- 19:34Speaker 1: time and energy, and you don't want to do it,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and she's gonna make you do it, and I just
- 19:39Speaker 1: kind of love it. I'm sorry, I love it.
- 19:41Speaker 2: I just it's like so annoying to me though, because
- 19:43Speaker 2: it's so petty on both sides, because you also have
- 19:47Speaker 2: Olivia saying shit, like you know, Ethan was abusive to her,
- 19:51Speaker 2: and I completely believe it. Like I'm not like debating that,
- 19:53Speaker 2: but I'm like, if you hate him so much, then
- 19:56Speaker 2: why aren't you trying to get divorced from it?
- 19:58Speaker 1: That's true too. It is very petty. And I also
- 20:02Speaker 1: think that it's not just about getting back at Ethan.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I think there's a part of her that wants to
- 20:07Speaker 1: be a topic of discussion in season eight, because I
- 20:11Speaker 1: think Olivia is a nark and she loves the limelight
- 20:14Speaker 1: and she wants to be talked about. And I think
- 20:17Speaker 1: the week that this premiere, within the last week or whatever,
- 20:20Speaker 1: she was actually back in Caro. Yeah, she was taking
- 20:23Speaker 1: photographs for a friend of HER's wedding, and I think
- 20:27Speaker 1: this is a content creator. I forget who it is,
- 20:29Speaker 1: but like she was back in Caro, it felt oddly
- 20:32Speaker 1: timed to me, like she wants people to continue to
- 20:36Speaker 1: talk about her. I don't think she knows what to
- 20:38Speaker 1: do with herself outside of the show, right, other than
- 20:42Speaker 1: pretend she's this world traveling photographer, which I don't personally believe.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I feel like she's debt financing a lot of that
- 20:49Speaker 2: travel because I'm just like, there's no way that you're
- 20:52Speaker 2: able to afford all she's going all over around the world,
- 20:54Speaker 2: Like it's pretty crazy how much she travels. And I'm
- 20:57Speaker 2: just like, why can't you guys just get divorced? Though,
- 21:00Speaker 2: because both of them are saying that the other is
- 21:02Speaker 2: holding them back, because last season we had Olivia saying
- 21:05Speaker 2: the same shit that Ethan is saying this season, saying
- 21:08Speaker 2: that he's not signing the papers, he's being resistant, he's
- 21:11Speaker 2: taking his sweet time and making things expire and it's
- 21:14Speaker 2: all his fault. And so I'm just like, y'all, quit
- 21:17Speaker 2: this toxic he said, she said bullshit, and just be
- 21:20Speaker 2: done with each other. But I do think that maybe
- 21:23Speaker 2: it's both of them, Maybe both of them don't want
- 21:26Speaker 2: to let go fully for whatever reasons they have. I mean,
- 21:30Speaker 2: Ethan says in this episode that he thinks that Olivia
- 21:33Speaker 2: doesn't want to have him move on with somebody else.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And I can see why, and I think so too,
- 21:40Speaker 1: And if I'm teaking, I also want to say, like
- 21:43Speaker 1: I would have only so much bandwidth for that. It's like, Okay,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I don't want to hang out with you though, if
- 21:49Speaker 1: like we're not actually getting the divorce or we're not
- 21:52Speaker 1: actually moving forward toward a goal, and you've got this
- 21:55Speaker 1: beautiful ex wife who is really loud on social media
- 21:59Speaker 1: and sometimes bearing on the show, Like I don't want
- 22:01Speaker 1: to be a part of that. It's very aggravating.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Yeah, to my soul, and she has a kid that's
- 22:05Speaker 2: involved in all.
- 22:06Speaker 1: She has a whole life in Wisconsin exactly.
- 22:08Speaker 2: So, and it seems like Ethan is upset by the
- 22:12Speaker 2: breakup with Tiegan and he feels like there's a lot
- 22:14Speaker 2: of unfinished business and he, I think, wants to get
- 22:18Speaker 2: her back. But he's so dumb. I mean, he's just
- 22:21Speaker 2: like moving back to Caro.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Where is he living? Is he living in that? Is
- 22:25Speaker 1: he living with his mom? Is he living in his.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Car I don't know. It seems like he's living in Caro,
- 22:32Speaker 2: but he's bopping back and forth between the farm and
- 22:35Speaker 2: Barry's house wherever that's at. But I'm just like, dude,
- 22:39Speaker 2: Gayer shit together.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Indeed, like you're how old?
- 22:43Speaker 2: I don't know what you're doing.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I mean, we've got Isaac out here flying planes. Girl,
- 22:47Speaker 1: we have Micah Plath who had like a whole head
- 22:50Speaker 1: of cattle or whatever, and so did Ethan when he
- 22:53Speaker 1: was married to Olivia. He sold that head of cattle
- 22:56Speaker 1: so that he could buy their first home. But like,
- 22:57Speaker 1: you've got these boys and girls who are industrious and
- 23:01Speaker 1: trying to make a life for themselves. Like, Ethan, what
- 23:03Speaker 1: are you doing besides stringing women along and lying and
- 23:07Speaker 1: drinking and drinking enraging.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, it's just frustrating. So Ethan another big disappointment.
- 23:14Speaker 2: And then we have the rest of like the Plath
- 23:17Speaker 2: kids coming to the farm because they are going to
- 23:20Speaker 2: I guess hang out with the family, but also they're
- 23:22Speaker 2: there to talk with Lydia and Zach who are going
- 23:25Speaker 2: to head to the farm later. But we see Micah,
- 23:29Speaker 2: we see Isaac, and we also see Mariah and check
- 23:32Speaker 2: with check in with them. Micah, like you had said
- 23:35Speaker 2: at the top of the episode, is so handsome. Oh yes,
- 23:38Speaker 2: And I'm really happy about that because Veronica really sucked
- 23:41Speaker 2: the life out of him last season.
- 23:43Speaker 1: God, she was such a demons, so toxic.
- 23:46Speaker 2: And apparently Micah is still down in Florida. He's got
- 23:49Speaker 2: his own place, he's getting his life back together after
- 23:52Speaker 2: he left that vampire demon woman, and he apparently has
- 23:56Speaker 2: a new girlfriend, but we're not going to hear about her,
- 23:58Speaker 2: which I'm glad about. He's keeping her name out of
- 24:03Speaker 2: the public eye for now because he's just wanting to
- 24:05Speaker 2: choose a peaceful, drama free life and I love that
- 24:09Speaker 2: for him. We check in with Isaac, who is still
- 24:13Speaker 2: dating Pooky Bear Kaylin and they're still doing fine for now.
- 24:18Speaker 2: And then Mariah, who looks absolutely beautiful. She is wearing
- 24:23Speaker 2: a wig because she has alopecia and has had a
- 24:27Speaker 2: recurrence of it, so all of her hair has fallen out,
- 24:29Speaker 2: her eyebrows and eyelashes and everything has fallen out. And
- 24:32Speaker 2: she had talked about this on social media last year
- 24:35Speaker 2: about how it was pretty traumatic for her to lose
- 24:37Speaker 2: all of her hair and everything. But seeing her in
- 24:39Speaker 2: this episode, she seems to have come to terms with that.
- 24:42Speaker 2: She's gotten a collection of wigs now and she looks
- 24:46Speaker 2: like she's really happy and thriving.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I would say she looks at peace.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And so whatever she's doing out in Montana, whether she's
- 24:53Speaker 1: pursuing her music or whether she's meeting some cowboys, which
- 24:57Speaker 1: is first on the agenda two years old, moving to Montana,
- 25:01Speaker 1: whatever she's doing, it does look good on her.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yes, And I love that for her. And it doesn't
- 25:07Speaker 2: seem like she's going to move away from Montana anytime soon,
- 25:10Speaker 2: and I think that's honestly great, get some distance from
- 25:13Speaker 2: these toxic guess plats. Then we go and check back
- 25:17Speaker 2: in with Lydia and Zach, who were on the way
- 25:20Speaker 2: to Kroe to go to the family farmhouse and have
- 25:24Speaker 2: this I don't want to say, like big confrontation, but
- 25:27Speaker 2: to have a bit of a confrontation with the rest
- 25:30Speaker 2: of the family, because there's a lot of hurts, especially
- 25:33Speaker 2: with Lydia and Kim and some of the other siblings,
- 25:38Speaker 2: for how they behaved and what they had talked about
- 25:42Speaker 2: behind their backs.
- 25:43Speaker 1: So let me ask you, because we had a few
- 25:47Speaker 1: segments where Kim was speaking to the camera directly about
- 25:51Speaker 1: how she was feeling about this upcoming meeting and knowing
- 25:56Speaker 1: that Lydia and Zach were expecting some kind of an
- 25:58Speaker 1: apology and to me as a mama, especially if I
- 26:04Speaker 1: really had maybe even disparaged this young man and I
- 26:08Speaker 1: knew it, and plus it was on camera, and I
- 26:10Speaker 1: knew maybe I should have done things a little bit differently.
- 26:14Speaker 1: I would have absolutely gone out of my way to
- 26:18Speaker 1: be ready to offer an apology or to say, you
- 26:21Speaker 1: know what, I didn't handle myself. Well, I was worried
- 26:24Speaker 1: about you. It was so fast, but like, I could
- 26:26Speaker 1: have definitely done things differently. But the way she's commenting
- 26:31Speaker 1: before they even sit down to have the conversation was
- 26:34Speaker 1: wild to me because she's like, I don't know if
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'm going to apologize. She's like, I don't know what
- 26:38Speaker 1: I did wrong. Really, it was just because I cared
- 26:40Speaker 1: about them. It's crazy, what did you think.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I did not like that at all. It actually triggered
- 26:45Speaker 2: me a little bit. I'm just like, Kim, why are
- 26:47Speaker 2: you got to be narking out with your big ass
- 26:49Speaker 2: Nark's gonna narc I mean, I'm just like, what are
- 26:52Speaker 2: we doing here? It does not look good. She's immediately
- 26:55Speaker 2: on the defense, I think because she has been attacked
- 26:59Speaker 2: for so many now by these various characters on the show,
- 27:03Speaker 2: whether it was Olivia or Veronica, and now it's Lydia
- 27:07Speaker 2: and her new NN. And like I understand, when the
- 27:12Speaker 2: family was first introduced to Zach, it was fast, it
- 27:17Speaker 2: was rushed. They did not have enough time to get
- 27:19Speaker 2: to know him. They all acted inappropriately, and it was
- 27:24Speaker 2: really unfair to Lydia. But like the fact that Kim said,
- 27:29Speaker 2: with her big mouth, I know they're expecting an apology,
- 27:33Speaker 2: but I'm not gonna apologize for caring. Like that's such
- 27:37Speaker 2: a narc statement.
- 27:38Speaker 1: That's like all those parents who when confronted about the
- 27:43Speaker 1: trauma they inflicted on their child say something like well,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It wasn't perfect, Yeah exactly.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Don't take any responsibility for the things that you could own,
- 27:52Speaker 1: but rather deflect and then lay it at the feet
- 27:55Speaker 1: of well, I it's because I love you, Okay. That
- 27:58Speaker 1: he was doing all of this, it was like very,
- 28:00Speaker 1: very annoying. Yeah, these people are not emotionally developed at all.
- 28:06Speaker 1: And with Kim, I do think we have a case
- 28:08Speaker 1: of somebody who's a narcissist, so they have a distorted
- 28:11Speaker 1: view of themselves and everyone else already. But like she's
- 28:15Speaker 1: so like there's a part of her that's so numb,
- 28:18Speaker 1: unable to put her feelers out, engage where she might
- 28:21Speaker 1: have hurt someone or could have done something a little differently.
- 28:25Speaker 1: And like with Lydia, she's like this little heart with
- 28:29Speaker 1: hands and feet, just wanting to love her husband, love
- 28:31Speaker 1: her family, be loved and seen. Like Lydia said that
- 28:34Speaker 1: I want to say three or four times in this episode,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I just want to be known. Yeah, and Zach knows me.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Why doesn't my mom know me and what I want?
- 28:44Speaker 1: And I was like, oof, that hurt me. Kim as
- 28:47Speaker 1: a mom, that's a cry ye and she just does
- 28:51Speaker 1: not give a shit.
- 28:52Speaker 2: No, she doesn't care at all. And it looks like
- 28:54Speaker 2: from the season preview, we're going to have more talks
- 28:56Speaker 2: with Lydia and Kim, which I do look forward to,
- 28:59Speaker 2: but I don't think Kim is going to react properly
- 29:02Speaker 2: to them whatsoever. And so when Lydia and Zach are
- 29:06Speaker 2: on the way to the farm, they have kind of
- 29:08Speaker 2: a conversation in the car and on the couch about
- 29:11Speaker 2: some of the issues that they want to bring to
- 29:13Speaker 2: the table with the family. And for Zach, he's like,
- 29:18Speaker 2: you know, I'm not necessarily upset per se. I'm more
- 29:22Speaker 2: upset about how they treated Lydia and how they made
- 29:25Speaker 2: Lydia feel. So he's coming at it from this I'm
- 29:28Speaker 2: going to protect my wife perspective, which I love, I
- 29:31Speaker 2: do appreciate. And Lydia is coming from it from a
- 29:35Speaker 2: mature standpoint as well, because she says, you know, it
- 29:37Speaker 2: took her several months to really collect her thoughts about this,
- 29:42Speaker 2: collect her feelings about it, because she didn't want to
- 29:45Speaker 2: have a discussion with them right after the wedding when
- 29:48Speaker 2: it was so emotionally charged, and so she's really thought
- 29:51Speaker 2: about it. She really wants to talk to them about
- 29:54Speaker 2: it out of a place of love and like trying
- 29:56Speaker 2: to understand them, but also standing firm in her marriage
- 30:01Speaker 2: and saying like, look, I get that y'all don't maybe
- 30:06Speaker 2: like him, or you're worried that it was super super fast,
- 30:09Speaker 2: but I got married him. I'm banging him. Deal with it.
- 30:12Speaker 1: This is my husband.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So I have a question for you. Where's the disconnect
- 30:17Speaker 1: do you think between the elder boys, for example, Ethan,
- 30:21Speaker 1: Micah and even Isaac and the emotional intelligence of the girls,
- 30:27Speaker 1: including Mariah. Now, she's made a lot of mistakes, but
- 30:29Speaker 1: she's out here expressing herself. She is trying to love
- 30:36Speaker 1: her mom and her family and be a good daughter.
- 30:39Speaker 1: And then you have Lydia very dutiful, but here in
- 30:43Speaker 1: this talk with her family, like approaching it very maturely,
- 30:47Speaker 1: like apologizing first for anything I might have done, like
- 30:50Speaker 1: I'm really sorry. I know that the timeline was weird,
- 30:52Speaker 1: but like there's just this compensation that the girls do emotionally,
- 30:57Speaker 1: whereas the guys are just like I'm gonna do some
- 31:00Speaker 1: age push ups and I'm gonna, you know, beat my
- 31:02Speaker 1: brother to a pulp so that he has to go
- 31:05Speaker 1: to the er. What's what happened between the boys and
- 31:09Speaker 1: the girls, do you think?
- 31:10Speaker 2: I don't know if it's like part of their religious upbringing,
- 31:14Speaker 2: and like maybe it's the fact that, like women are
- 31:16Speaker 2: always supposed to be dutiful, they're always supposed to be compromising,
- 31:20Speaker 2: they're always supposed to be subservient and even emotionally speaking.
- 31:25Speaker 2: I don't know if it's because of that, or maybe
- 31:26Speaker 2: it's their like traditional values. I just I guess I
- 31:29Speaker 2: can speak from my own perspective as a woman, like
- 31:32Speaker 2: women are more inclined to be empathetic or like understanding
- 31:37Speaker 2: or forgiving, whereas men are kind of.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Just like, yeah, but Ethan is so profoundly broken.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but Ethan's a special case, I think.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And Micah and Isaac are also broken if they're willing
- 31:47Speaker 1: to beat each other to a pulp. Plus, we have
- 31:50Speaker 1: to talk about substances, because I think all three of
- 31:52Speaker 1: those boys are drinking. We know Mariah is as well,
- 31:55Speaker 1: but I don't think Lydia really is drinking. And then
- 31:57Speaker 1: there's Kim who's drinking a lot. I just it seems
- 32:00Speaker 1: so strange to me. Yeah, like there's one half of
- 32:02Speaker 1: the family that is able to have these more sophisticated
- 32:07Speaker 1: conversations or to feel and express in a more comprehensive way,
- 32:10Speaker 1: and then we have this black and white bullshit from
- 32:13Speaker 1: somebody like Ethan. Yeah, you can't see the forest for
- 32:16Speaker 1: the trees. I don't know. It was just a very strange.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I do agree with you. I will say, Micah
- 32:21Speaker 2: to me seems more emotionally intelligent out of all of
- 32:24Speaker 2: the other boys. I mean, I think Isaac is kind
- 32:27Speaker 2: of getting there a little bit, but he's still kinda dumb.
- 32:30Speaker 2: He's dumb, and Ethan is just the dumbest of them all.
- 32:33Speaker 2: But I feel like Micah has more of a propensity
- 32:36Speaker 2: and always has had more of a propensity to be
- 32:39Speaker 2: more emotionally intelligent. But we'll see. So when we have
- 32:44Speaker 2: Lydia and Zach arriving at the farm, you know, everybody
- 32:47Speaker 2: kind of hugs each other. The brothers are a little
- 32:50Speaker 2: bit awkward in hugging Zach, especially Ethan, who has to
- 32:54Speaker 2: be told by Micah to go hug Zach.
- 32:57Speaker 1: And then he gives him a side hug, and he
- 33:00Speaker 1: obviously is not comfortable in doing so. Like, what's the problem, Ethan,
- 33:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:06Speaker 2: I don't know. Look, like I said, I think Zach
- 33:09Speaker 2: is weird. I he gives me weird vibes. But for me,
- 33:12Speaker 2: if I was in this family, I would be super polite.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I would give him a full hug. I wouldn't have
- 33:17Speaker 2: acted like a fool at their wedding.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Do you know how many people in my family are weird? Yeah,
- 33:22Speaker 1: I give them a bear hug. Well, yeah, primarily me.
- 33:25Speaker 1: I give them a bear hug. I will love them anyway.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I will not like withhold affection to make a statement,
- 33:31Speaker 1: which is what it felt like Ethan was doing.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Ethan's just petty and he's so like he thinks so
- 33:37Speaker 2: much with his rage brain, and I'm like, dude, just
- 33:39Speaker 2: chill out, go to therapy instead of drinking. But like whatever.
- 33:43Speaker 2: So when they sit down to talk, we have Ken
- 33:46Speaker 2: inside listening to his classic Headis rock on his jukebox
- 33:51Speaker 2: in the farmhouse that Barry owns, like whatever. Barry is
- 33:55Speaker 2: seemingly okay with it, which kind of pisses me off
- 33:58Speaker 2: a little. He's like, yeah, it's kind of weird that
- 34:00Speaker 2: Ken's here and Ken's in the house listening to music
- 34:02Speaker 2: or whatever, But like, weird's the new normal. I'm like Barry,
- 34:06Speaker 2: Can you not be passive? I also think that's an
- 34:09Speaker 2: issue with why the boys are the way they are,
- 34:12Speaker 2: because Barry is not really a strong or assertive father figure.
- 34:18Speaker 2: In my opinion, I don't necessarily think he's all bad.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I think he's loving and I think he's kind and
- 34:24Speaker 2: in the case of Lydia, like he's been very supportive
- 34:27Speaker 2: of her marriage and everything. But he's just so fucking passive.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Why are you letting Kim stay in the farmhouse with
- 34:35Speaker 2: her side piece that she broke up the family.
- 34:39Speaker 1: That your children are going to have to hang out with? Yeah,
- 34:42Speaker 1: exposing your littles to this guy, Like, that's so weird.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Who is this man? His character is obviously in question
- 34:49Speaker 1: because he cheated with Kim and broke up your family.
- 34:55Speaker 1: But at the same time, all of those racists posts
- 34:57Speaker 1: on Facebook, which I will continue to talk about, this
- 34:59Speaker 1: guy lacks and he's in your house with your kids.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Doesn't that bother you be boo bop?
- 35:05Speaker 2: No, he does not get boop bop. Barry's just on
- 35:09Speaker 2: a boat talked about how he's king in the world. Right.
- 35:11Speaker 2: I'm just like, okay, dude, I just I can't so
- 35:14Speaker 2: when they all sit down to talk. Lydia is the
- 35:16Speaker 2: first one to bring anything up, and she's obviously like
- 35:21Speaker 2: on the verge of tears and then ultimately ends up
- 35:23Speaker 2: crying in the middle of the conversation. But she is
- 35:26Speaker 2: so gracious to her family, and she does apologize first off,
- 35:31Speaker 2: for anything that she had done, and she apologizes for
- 35:34Speaker 2: how quick their engagement and their wedding was and that
- 35:38Speaker 2: they didn't really get a chance to get to know Zach,
- 35:40Speaker 2: but she really hopes that they make the effort now
- 35:44Speaker 2: and in the future to get to know him and
- 35:47Speaker 2: love him. Because she's married to him, she's probably gonna
- 35:51Speaker 2: have his big head babies, so like, get used to it.
- 35:55Speaker 2: And then we have Actually, I think it's Micah who's
- 35:58Speaker 2: the first one to speak up, and I thought he
- 36:01Speaker 2: handled it pretty well. He did take ownership for the
- 36:03Speaker 2: fact that he didn't handle anything well. He acted a
- 36:08Speaker 2: fucking fool. He apologized for all of the drama, and
- 36:11Speaker 2: he does acknowledge that he was going through a lot
- 36:14Speaker 2: of shit at the time with Vampire of Veronica, and
- 36:18Speaker 2: that's not an excuse, but he does apologize.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Well, the way you're framing it is way more emotionally
- 36:26Speaker 1: intelligent than what Micah actually said. We're compensating for Micah
- 36:31Speaker 1: because he does not know how to communicate. None of
- 36:34Speaker 1: them truly do, except for Lydia apparently. But he starts
- 36:38Speaker 1: by saying like, yeah, you know, I shouldn't have done that,
- 36:41Speaker 1: and uh, I'm sorry about that. But at the same time,
- 36:45Speaker 1: like it was so fast though, we were just really concerned.
- 36:49Speaker 1: What I'm saying is like, he doesn't make that kind
- 36:51Speaker 1: of an emotional statement. But because we know it's Micah,
- 36:54Speaker 1: and because we know he can't really speak with words,
- 36:58Speaker 1: it was a good apology. I gets.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I think it was good for the plaths.
- 37:02Speaker 1: For the plaths and their ability was dumb. It wasn't demonstrative.
- 37:06Speaker 1: It wasn't this is what I did that was wrong,
- 37:08Speaker 1: and this is what I will do in the future,
- 37:10Speaker 1: never to do that again. It wasn't like an adult apology.
- 37:13Speaker 1: It was an infantile toddler apology.
- 37:17Speaker 2: But okay, great, yeah, I mean, I guess from my perspective,
- 37:21Speaker 2: I'm like, at least he acknowledged that he did stuff
- 37:24Speaker 2: that was wrong like Kim, unlike Kim, and that's my issue.
- 37:28Speaker 2: And then we have Isaac also saying the same kind
- 37:31Speaker 2: of thing that Micah did yes and said that, you know,
- 37:33Speaker 2: we acted like a bunch of idiots and we're sorry
- 37:36Speaker 2: for that. And then we have Ethan giving his man
- 37:39Speaker 2: baby apology as well, which I thought was definitely the
- 37:42Speaker 2: worst one because he wasn't really I don't think he
- 37:46Speaker 2: was coming from an authentic place. I think he was
- 37:48Speaker 2: just saying words, and he just said, you know, well,
- 37:52Speaker 2: I'm sorry if I did anything to hurt you, which
- 37:54Speaker 2: I know that I did, so I'm sorry for that.
- 37:57Speaker 2: And so it's just like, okay.
- 37:58Speaker 1: And when Lydia's talking, he's not looking at her now,
- 38:01Speaker 1: he's looking off somewhere else, like he can't deign to
- 38:05Speaker 1: actually look at her while she's speaking and crying and
- 38:08Speaker 1: pouring her heart out. Yep, he's so prideful and arrogant.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't think he knows how to handle emotions.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Go to therapy for the rest of us.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I came up in a straight up abusive home.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:23Speaker 1: My father was a fucking monster and my mom was
- 38:26Speaker 1: a doormat, and that was what was modeled to me
- 38:29Speaker 1: as a child, and I didn't know how to be
- 38:32Speaker 1: in adult relationships. Guess what we get older, we become adults.
- 38:37Speaker 1: We go to therapy, we read books, we try to
- 38:40Speaker 1: be better people. We don't get stuck in this terrible
- 38:43Speaker 1: place in a personality disorder, and then visit that shit
- 38:47Speaker 1: on everybody else. Grow up ethan true, you fucking baby.
- 38:52Speaker 2: But at the same time, like, it took you a
- 38:54Speaker 2: long time to get to that point too, So I
- 38:56Speaker 2: feel like it will take him time. I'm trying to
- 38:59Speaker 2: have hope for it because I don't want to. I
- 39:01Speaker 2: don't want to think that he'll just be a chromagnin
- 39:03Speaker 2: piece of shit for the rest of his people live and.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Die their whole lives. Yeah, Chromagnin, he is only giving
- 39:10Speaker 1: a shit. I just don't see anything in him though,
- 39:12Speaker 1: not even a spark of life that would indicate to
- 39:15Speaker 1: me that he wants to change or be a better
- 39:17Speaker 1: person for himself, fatiguing for anybody.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, like Lydia is the.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Epitome, the quintessence of wholesome and innocent and good. Yeah,
- 39:28Speaker 1: and in the face of her pouring out her heart
- 39:32Speaker 1: to her brothers and her family, yeah, he's got nothing
- 39:34Speaker 1: for her. There is something profoundly wrong with that guy.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he just is very resentful. It feels like so
- 39:42Speaker 2: he's just bruin and stewin deep down in himself. And
- 39:46Speaker 2: so he's like saying he's sorry, but he's not really sorry.
- 39:50Speaker 2: He's just going to be bitter about it the whole time.
- 39:53Speaker 2: And we'll see some of that bitterness come out in
- 39:57Speaker 2: the season preview against Zach as well well. And so
- 40:00Speaker 2: it's just like, God, Ethan, can you just not react
- 40:04Speaker 2: from your anger? Can you learn to deal with that?
- 40:07Speaker 2: Is that possible? No?
- 40:09Speaker 1: You know what I thought, if I may, I thought,
- 40:13Speaker 1: here's a guy, Ethan Plath who was in a relationship
- 40:16Speaker 1: with Olivia, and it felt to me like he was
- 40:20Speaker 1: probably made to have to apologize for so much in
- 40:25Speaker 1: that relationship. And in my opinion, Olivia was constantly moving
- 40:30Speaker 1: the goalposts and she would say I need you to
- 40:33Speaker 1: do this in order for me to be happy. He
- 40:36Speaker 1: would do that, and then she would change it to
- 40:38Speaker 1: something else. He was constantly shifting and adjusting for this woman,
- 40:44Speaker 1: plus apologizing, so that now when he actually really does
- 40:47Speaker 1: owe somebody a literal apology for his very bad behavior,
- 40:52Speaker 1: he's so begrudging with it. Yeah, because it reminds him
- 40:56Speaker 1: and there's echoes of all the shit that he went
- 40:58Speaker 1: through with Olivia. So he doesn't want to give it.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I agree, which again is a sign of an immature Yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 1: unwilling to grow asshole totally.
- 41:11Speaker 2: It's toxic, it's not healthy behavior, and like we all
- 41:14Speaker 2: can have the capability of being that way, but it's
- 41:18Speaker 2: in the recognition of that that is a marker of maturity.
- 41:21Speaker 2: And I do agree with you. I don't think he
- 41:23Speaker 2: recognizes that within himself. He's just content being an angry
- 41:27Speaker 2: curmudgeon working on his cars. And it's like, Okay, I
- 41:30Speaker 2: guess if you want to live that way, enjoy being
- 41:33Speaker 2: single forever, because nobody's going to deal with that, like,
- 41:36Speaker 2: not even Tagan, you know, like you had Tagan who
- 41:39Speaker 2: was a bombshell who was totally in love with you
- 41:41Speaker 2: last season, and you could for some reason, No, you
- 41:44Speaker 2: couldn't even make that work. You're so stupid, and so yeah,
- 41:48Speaker 2: Lydia cries and breaks down. She does accept the boys's apologies,
- 41:55Speaker 2: and she does acknowledge that they're coming from like a
- 41:58Speaker 2: place of loving her and everything. She is just such
- 42:01Speaker 2: a forgiving person and that can be a double edged sword.
- 42:06Speaker 1: The way I would have brought brass knuckles to that
- 42:10Speaker 1: family conversation and beat my brother's ass. If he didn't
- 42:14Speaker 1: offer an apology to my husband for being straight up
- 42:17Speaker 1: abusive and toxic to him, I would have been so
- 42:19Speaker 1: different than Lydia.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but she is so gracious and she does talk
- 42:24Speaker 2: about how the night before her wedding was the worst
- 42:27Speaker 2: night of her life, which made me really sad for
- 42:30Speaker 2: her because now she's just gonna look back on her
- 42:33Speaker 2: wedding day and her wedding in general and have that
- 42:37Speaker 2: sadness associated with it, and I just I don't love
- 42:42Speaker 2: that for her. Like we talked about it extensively last season.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I can understand some of the family's concerns with like
- 42:49Speaker 2: how she rushed into this marriage with this guy who's
- 42:52Speaker 2: kind of a weirdo, but like they just didn't really
- 42:55Speaker 2: they didn't handle it well at all, and they ended
- 42:58Speaker 2: up hurting Lydia really bad. And I don't think she's
- 43:04Speaker 2: ever gonna really get over this. Unfortunately. I think she
- 43:06Speaker 2: will forgive, but she's not going to forget, and it's
- 43:10Speaker 2: just going to create a wedge in the family. I
- 43:12Speaker 2: think what I thought was interesting about this confrontation with
- 43:16Speaker 2: the family is when we get to Kim, Kim is
- 43:21Speaker 2: just being like a total mean mug the entire time,
- 43:25Speaker 2: like she is not apologizing for anything. She says something
- 43:28Speaker 2: to the effect of like, well, yeah, Zach, we love you,
- 43:31Speaker 2: We've always loved you, we accept you. But like, meanwhile,
- 43:34Speaker 2: she's talking to the camera this season and last season
- 43:37Speaker 2: about how she just doesn't know Zach and didn't have
- 43:40Speaker 2: time to get to know him, and she thinks he's
- 43:43Speaker 2: controlling and blah blah blah, and this was something that
- 43:46Speaker 2: Lydia wanted to talk to Kim about specifically, she didn't
- 43:50Speaker 2: really get into it in this conversation, so I'm hoping
- 43:52Speaker 2: she gets into it later in the season because Lydia
- 43:55Speaker 2: is very upset by Kim's assumptions of Zach and his
- 44:00Speaker 2: behavior over her, because Lydia doesn't feel that Zach is
- 44:05Speaker 2: controlling at.
- 44:05Speaker 1: All, specifically with regard to being controlling. And also, Kim
- 44:10Speaker 1: says that she personally observed Lydia wanting to do things
- 44:15Speaker 1: a certain way with her wedding and Zach overriding her
- 44:20Speaker 1: and doing something different, and last season the example of
- 44:24Speaker 1: that was the colors that they wore for their wedding.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Kim had told us to the camera that Lydia wanted
- 44:32Speaker 1: to wear Hunter green, and it was Zach who wanted
- 44:35Speaker 1: to wear blue, and so then all of a sudden,
- 44:37Speaker 1: everything was blue. Lydia tells the camera this season, I
- 44:41Speaker 1: would never want Hunter green. We both decided on blue,
- 44:45Speaker 1: and so we have to choose who we're going to
- 44:48Speaker 1: believe there, And honestly, I kind of believe Kim here too.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I kind of believe Kim.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Here because why would Kim even say that?
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I kind of think that she did observe that, and
- 45:00Speaker 1: maybe that's not how it happened in the vibes.
- 45:05Speaker 2: With Lydia and Zach, but it could.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Be what Kim thought she observed in the relationship, and
- 45:11Speaker 1: so she raised the red flag. But she should have
- 45:14Speaker 1: done that privately, for sure. She should have done that
- 45:16Speaker 1: directly to Lydia.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Yep.
- 45:17Speaker 1: She should not have done that on camera and used
- 45:20Speaker 1: it as a weapon against Zach, who she did not know,
- 45:23Speaker 1: which I think is kind of the greater point that
- 45:25Speaker 1: Lydia's trying to make.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Definitely, and Kim last season also used this with Ethan
- 45:31Speaker 2: to kind of team up against Zach, right, which was
- 45:33Speaker 2: also incredibly inappropriate and not fucking cool. But I do
- 45:38Speaker 2: kind of believe Kim a little bit too, and like
- 45:40Speaker 2: even in this confrontation with Lydia and Zach, like, we
- 45:45Speaker 2: started the episode with talking about the sexuality allegations that
- 45:51Speaker 2: the boys had made towards Zach, which were totally inappropriate,
- 45:56Speaker 2: really fucking awful and bullying behavior, like point blank, and
- 46:01Speaker 2: we didn't address that in the confrontation with the family
- 46:05Speaker 2: at all, which I thought was really interesting. There was
- 46:07Speaker 2: a lot of emphasis on the controlling aspect, and there
- 46:11Speaker 2: were some moments in the episode for me where Zach
- 46:16Speaker 2: was very clear to be like, yeah, Lydia knows exactly
- 46:20Speaker 2: what she's going to say about how we feel, and
- 46:23Speaker 2: she's going to make sure she conveys to the family
- 46:26Speaker 2: that you know, I'm not controlling, And I'm just like, hmm,
- 46:29Speaker 2: it's a little odd for me. I hope you're not
- 46:32Speaker 2: like that. I don't know. That's just why I have
- 46:35Speaker 2: weird vibes about him, because I'm kind of like, maybe
- 46:37Speaker 2: you are a little controlling. Yeah, maybe you are a
- 46:40Speaker 2: little bit.
- 46:42Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, I don't think Kim wants to
- 46:45Speaker 1: find something wrong with Zach. I do think Kim, even
- 46:50Speaker 1: though she's so broken and so flawed and such a narcissist,
- 46:54Speaker 1: I do think ultimately she wants what's best for Lydia. Yeah,
- 46:59Speaker 1: but I I the problem is in the execution of
- 47:04Speaker 1: how she's parented. The problem is in all of the tragic,
- 47:09Speaker 1: catastrophic mistakes that she's made in being a parent, like
- 47:14Speaker 1: blowing up the entire family, Like who are you to
- 47:18Speaker 1: come into my burgeoning relationship and my ultimate marriage and
- 47:22Speaker 1: tell me about my husband when you are the one
- 47:25Speaker 1: who cheated on my dad, who made me be a
- 47:28Speaker 1: proxy mother. I had to take care of all your
- 47:31Speaker 1: kids while you were out fucking the one eyed Ken Palmer.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Who are you to stand and criticize the man that
- 47:38Speaker 1: I chose for myself, A godly man according to Lydia,
- 47:42Speaker 1: A man who loves me, according to Lydia, a man
- 47:45Speaker 1: who is straight Lyda, Who are you though, Kim? Like
- 47:49Speaker 1: you're not the right one? Y? And I loved that.
- 47:52Speaker 1: In the conversation, Lydia made a point to turn to
- 47:55Speaker 1: Barry and say, and I want to thank those folks
- 47:59Speaker 1: who were support part of me and Dad in particular,
- 48:02Speaker 1: thank you for being so good to Zach, which so
- 48:05Speaker 1: gets into Kim's craw like love. Kim cannot take it,
- 48:10Speaker 1: and she even says to the camera, I felt like
- 48:12Speaker 1: that was a job to me because I care. Yeah, okay,
- 48:16Speaker 1: because I was so concerned she's taking it out on
- 48:20Speaker 1: me because Barry just wants to be the parent that
- 48:23Speaker 1: gets by and that pleases everybody. So she can't like
- 48:27Speaker 1: look at herself.
- 48:28Speaker 2: She's emotionally immature, very much so.
- 48:30Speaker 1: But like she also is so distorted in her perception.
- 48:33Speaker 1: She can't see herself and how she conducts herself. And like,
- 48:37Speaker 1: how out of fucking pocket it is to have Ken
- 48:39Speaker 1: Palmer at the farm, How out of pocket it is
- 48:42Speaker 1: to talk about one of your children's partners when you've
- 48:45Speaker 1: blown up the entire life of your family. She doesn't
- 48:48Speaker 1: see herself accurately in this way. All she can do
- 48:51Speaker 1: is deflect, defend, and blame one.
- 48:55Speaker 2: And I think you had talked about this last season,
- 48:58Speaker 2: so I'll just reiterate it again. Like Kim raised the
- 49:01Speaker 2: kids to be this way, she raised Lydia p to
- 49:05Speaker 2: be this way. She raised her to follow in her footsteps,
- 49:09Speaker 2: which is, you know, be a good Christian girl, get
- 49:12Speaker 2: married to the first guy you see, submit and get
- 49:15Speaker 2: married right away, and then pump out a bunch of
- 49:17Speaker 2: babies Like this is the example that you set out
- 49:20Speaker 2: for your kids, and while some of them are not
- 49:22Speaker 2: following in that example because you blew everything up, Lydia
- 49:26Speaker 2: is because she believes in this principle that you instilled
- 49:30Speaker 2: in her, and so, like I can understand from a
- 49:33Speaker 2: maternal instinct, like Kim being concerned about Lydia making the
- 49:37Speaker 2: same mistakes that she did with Barry, I get that.
- 49:41Speaker 2: But now that you're a cheating ass drunk, you don't
- 49:44Speaker 2: really get to You don't get to you don't get
- 49:46Speaker 2: to say that kind of you lost the right. Yes,
- 49:49Speaker 2: and if you had conducted yourself better in the divorce,
- 49:53Speaker 2: if you didn't get a duy, if you didn't you know,
- 49:56Speaker 2: get with Ken Palmer of all teachers, like what the hell?
- 50:01Speaker 2: If you didn't do all of this shit and make
- 50:02Speaker 2: a fool out of yourself, out of the family, out
- 50:05Speaker 2: of Barry, maybe you could have had a conversation with
- 50:09Speaker 2: Lydia and said like, hey, you know, this is the
- 50:12Speaker 2: reason why I left your dad because I realized I
- 50:14Speaker 2: made a mistake twenty fucking years ago, and I really
- 50:17Speaker 2: am worried about you doing the same thing. Maybe Lydia
- 50:19Speaker 2: would have been receptive to that, but you lost your
- 50:21Speaker 2: fucking chance, so now you could be all bitter because
- 50:24Speaker 2: Lydia is gravitating towards her dad, who has been nothing
- 50:28Speaker 2: but supportive and loving.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I am passive and he's passive, non assertive.
- 50:34Speaker 2: And like, look, I agree that Barry is kind of
- 50:38Speaker 2: in the wrong by just rubber stamping the relationship immediately
- 50:42Speaker 2: and not really giving it a second thought. Like this
- 50:44Speaker 2: is your daughter that you're giving away to some dude
- 50:48Speaker 2: you don't even.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Know, weirdo.
- 50:49Speaker 2: It's like he's so fucking weird, but you're just like
- 50:51Speaker 2: happy because he's a Christian guy, and Lydia seems happy
- 50:55Speaker 2: for now. Like I agree with Kim in that regard
- 50:58Speaker 2: that Barry shouldn't be so happy go lucky. But at
- 51:02Speaker 2: the same time, Barry says in this episode, like I'm
- 51:05Speaker 2: just trying to be the dad that Lydia needs me
- 51:07Speaker 2: to be, and I just want to be that for
- 51:09Speaker 2: all of my children, and so I'm just going to
- 51:11Speaker 2: be supportive in any way that I can and she
- 51:14Speaker 2: can lean on me, and I just want to show
- 51:17Speaker 2: up for her in that loving way. And I do
- 51:19Speaker 2: respect that.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I do respect it. I mean, it's not necessarily the
- 51:23Speaker 1: role of a strong father, not really. But Barry I
- 51:27Speaker 1: don't think was ever a strong father. I think he
- 51:30Speaker 1: was a provider. I think he went to work at
- 51:34Speaker 1: the transportation company.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Or whatever tells.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Whatever he did, he went to work. He provided all
- 51:40Speaker 1: of the things that they had, and they had a
- 51:42Speaker 1: farm and then a wholesome upbringing and all of the things.
- 51:45Speaker 1: But he was not present. He did not know his children,
- 51:49Speaker 1: not really. And so now he's trying to show up
- 51:53Speaker 1: in a way that he thinks models what good fatherhood
- 51:55Speaker 1: looks like, but he doesn't actually know what that is.
- 51:59Speaker 2: And of course the kids are going to gravitate towards
- 52:01Speaker 2: that because their mom is such a fucking mess. So
- 52:04Speaker 2: of course they're going to go to the parent that is, like,
- 52:07Speaker 2: you know, projecting this airr of stability.
- 52:09Speaker 1: And also approving every choice that you make at twenty
- 52:12Speaker 1: one years old to marry some unemployed tennis in the
- 52:15Speaker 1: structures with no lips exactly exactly.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Come on, I mean, if you had to choose between
- 52:24Speaker 2: these two parents, like, yeah, I'd probably pick thee boopbop
- 52:26Speaker 2: Barry too.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Like my dad was an absolute monster, as I said,
- 52:31Speaker 1: and he had so many problems, but like when he
- 52:34Speaker 1: met my first husband. He took his shoes and he
- 52:37Speaker 1: threw them into the street, and he's say, get the
- 52:40Speaker 1: fuck out of my Like, my dad also knew how
- 52:43Speaker 1: to be strong, yeah, in certain ways, and Barry's got
- 52:47Speaker 1: none of that. Irrespective of his muscles, right, irrespective of
- 52:50Speaker 1: his new body. He doesn't know how to be that
- 52:53Speaker 1: strong father who can actually say to Lydia, but Lydia,
- 52:55Speaker 1: are you sure? Here's what I actually see as an
- 52:58Speaker 1: old dude, as an old head that you should think about,
- 53:01Speaker 1: Like he didn't do that for her, and Kim didn't
- 53:03Speaker 1: know how to do that to her. And then we've
- 53:05Speaker 1: got Ethan who's trying to do that for her, but
- 53:07Speaker 1: he's a fucking mess.
- 53:10Speaker 2: And I think that's the problem, like because they don't
- 53:12Speaker 2: really have a strong, like authoritative father figure in the house.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Like you have these boys that are trying to compensate
- 53:21Speaker 2: in this way, but like you can't. You don't get
- 53:23Speaker 2: to do that as an older brother, Like you're just
- 53:26Speaker 2: a brother. You're not the patriarch unfortunately. Like Barry is
- 53:29Speaker 2: still the head or the leader of the household, but
- 53:32Speaker 2: he doesn't really.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Act like one, no, not at all. He's just kind
- 53:35Speaker 1: of like a background and I do think Ethan is
- 53:37Speaker 1: trying to step into the figure.
- 53:38Speaker 2: He totally is. He talked about it last season. He's like,
- 53:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask the hard questions because I know my
- 53:43Speaker 2: dad's not right. So and that's unfortunate that it has
- 53:47Speaker 2: to come from fucking Ethan. Yeah, he's such a chromagnut
- 53:51Speaker 2: stupid asshole.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Yes, like toxic, potentially physically abusive, yeah, certainly emotionally and
- 54:00Speaker 1: verbally abusive.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 54:02Speaker 1: We don't need Ethan being the arbiter of what's good
- 54:05Speaker 1: and right in a family or a marriage. Goddamn seriously.
- 54:09Speaker 2: So we end the episode with this conversation where Zach
- 54:15Speaker 2: feels like they haven't fully resolved everything. He's still worried
- 54:20Speaker 2: about Lydia and her feelings and Kim and Kim and
- 54:23Speaker 2: Barry even talked about that too, that there is still
- 54:26Speaker 2: a lot of healing that needs to be done between
- 54:29Speaker 2: Lydia and Kim specifically and Q because there was a
- 54:32Speaker 2: ton of hurt and a ton of pain on Lydia's
- 54:35Speaker 2: part from the divorce. Yes, obviously, Like I would be
- 54:40Speaker 2: so fucking Madami, Oh my.
- 54:41Speaker 1: God, I would be filled with incandescent fury from my
- 54:45Speaker 1: mother if she had parentified me to the extent after
- 54:49Speaker 1: telling me the way that I should live religiously, spiritually, morally,
- 54:55Speaker 1: and then abandoning that entire structure going off to sleep
- 54:59Speaker 1: with the one eyed can Palmer. Now, I've got to
- 55:01Speaker 1: take care of your kids and your man. I gotta
- 55:03Speaker 1: cook for everybody, clean up your house. Yep, Oh my god,
- 55:06Speaker 1: I would be so angry.
- 55:07Speaker 2: I'm honestly surprised not one of these kids hasn't like
- 55:11Speaker 2: screamed at Kim for this, because if it were me, Oh,
- 55:15Speaker 2: I'd be fighting, I'd be tussling, I'd be so fucking mad,
- 55:18Speaker 2: I'd be going no contact because Kim is just really
- 55:22Speaker 2: such a fucking mess.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Well, and then the preview, and obviously we'll get there.
- 55:25Speaker 1: We have Isaac saying, but like, you know, mom has
- 55:28Speaker 1: been accused of so many things, and I actually think
- 55:31Speaker 1: she was right all along.
- 55:33Speaker 2: That pissed me off. Are you kidding me? That pissed
- 55:36Speaker 2: me off? Because you know what that is. That's Kim
- 55:38Speaker 2: going to the boys and going to the rest of
- 55:40Speaker 2: the kids and airing out all of her bullshit and
- 55:44Speaker 2: visiting upon them all of her feelings about everything and
- 55:47Speaker 2: be like, no, no, no, this is the truth, and
- 55:49Speaker 2: I was.
- 55:50Speaker 1: The victim and they came after me. They accused me
- 55:53Speaker 1: of all these things, credit card, all this stuff. A
- 55:57Speaker 1: little babe has said yes in Isaac's buying the bullshit shit.
- 56:00Speaker 1: And then you've got the three littles starting with Amber.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:03Speaker 1: I'm like, girls don't buy into this.
- 56:05Speaker 2: And they already are kind of what else.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Can they do?
- 56:08Speaker 2: Yeh?
- 56:08Speaker 1: Or else can they go? Barry's not present, He's in
- 56:11Speaker 1: the fourth or the fifth dimssion. He is not on
- 56:13Speaker 1: the planet with us, dude, He's a literal robot.
- 56:16Speaker 2: And that's the thing. Like Kim is really playing into
- 56:19Speaker 2: the Divorced Mom handbook, where she is like totally, in
- 56:24Speaker 2: my opinion, talking shit to all of the kids about Barry,
- 56:28Speaker 2: about all of the exes, probably most definitely Olivia, probably Veronica,
- 56:33Speaker 2: Like she's talking shit about everything that everyone has done
- 56:37Speaker 2: to her so that way she can get sympathy points
- 56:40Speaker 2: from the rest of the kids, and so that way
- 56:42Speaker 2: she can get all of this love and adoration. Like
- 56:44Speaker 2: she's totally playing into that, and Barry is just so
- 56:47Speaker 2: fucking oblivious and passive and it just drives me nuts.
- 56:50Speaker 2: I'm like, can we just can you just.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Isn't this great?
- 56:53Speaker 2: It's so good, it's so good, it's so the best
- 56:57Speaker 2: fucking show. Tell me I'm wrong, and I love it
- 57:00Speaker 2: so fucking much. So we get to the season preview
- 57:03Speaker 2: and it looks fucking lit. So we have them going
- 57:07Speaker 2: to look for Bigfoot, which is ridiculous but I love.
- 57:09Speaker 1: I go to sleep every night listening to Sasquatch chronic.
- 57:13Speaker 2: You're ridiculous.
- 57:14Speaker 1: I believe in Bigfoot man for sure anyway.
- 57:17Speaker 2: But they're gonna go look for Bigfoot and they have
- 57:18Speaker 2: singing bowls, which I think is funny. I am, I know,
- 57:22Speaker 2: I know, you're sure.
- 57:23Speaker 1: I told the story yes before.
- 57:25Speaker 2: And then we have Barry going on a date with
- 57:28Speaker 2: a hot, skinny woman.
- 57:30Speaker 1: I don't know if she's hot because we don't see
- 57:31Speaker 1: her face, but she's skinny, so that's different.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Sorry. And we have some women from town saying that
- 57:40Speaker 2: Barry has a nickname and he's called the plath Daddy,
- 57:43Speaker 2: which I absolutely love because you know, Kim is gonna
- 57:47Speaker 2: be watching this ship drunk so bad with their big
- 57:50Speaker 2: old bowling ball body and means so up said, I
- 57:54Speaker 2: just love it so much. And then we have Ethan
- 57:58Speaker 2: going up to Wisconsin. He's going to prize Teagan.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I guess, or are we stalking people now?
- 58:04Speaker 2: He's trying to act like those guys from the romance
- 58:06Speaker 2: books and being like, drive all the way up here
- 58:11Speaker 2: in my weird ass car, my old man car.
- 58:14Speaker 1: To tell you. I feel like we have some unfinished business,
- 58:18Speaker 1: but I'm still not willing to do anything to work
- 58:20Speaker 1: for you.
- 58:21Speaker 2: I feel like Tigan's gonna be like, get the fuck
- 58:23Speaker 2: out of here. We'll see. Then we have Kim who
- 58:26Speaker 2: is jazz er sizing and Tattle's working hard, talking about
- 58:32Speaker 2: her weight gain which has been severe, sorry, what's been severe?
- 58:38Speaker 2: And she wants to get back to her hot young self.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I guess because Ken is not attracted to her body,
- 58:45Speaker 2: YadA yadi. Right now.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I need for this conversation to take place so that
- 58:50Speaker 1: I can watch it, because how does she know that
- 58:54Speaker 1: he's not attracted to her unless he has told her
- 59:00Speaker 1: his own mouth that he's not attracted to her fat
- 59:03Speaker 1: lady body.
- 59:03Speaker 2: I think he's told her with his slurred words and all,
- 59:07Speaker 2: because she says, from what I can see of your
- 59:11Speaker 2: fat lady body, I'm not into it.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Like actually, also racist bullshit. Let me say some racist bullshit.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Too.
- 59:20Speaker 1: God, these people are winners.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Well, Like in the preview, Kim's like, I know you're
- 59:24Speaker 2: not attracted to me with the way that I am,
- 59:26Speaker 2: and then Ken nods He's.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Like, yeah, not attracted to you? Why are you with
- 59:33Speaker 1: this person? Why is the living in Berry's farm?
- 59:36Speaker 2: Because no one else is gonna want to be with
- 59:38Speaker 2: Kim fucking plaid.
- 59:39Speaker 1: God, this is so great.
- 59:41Speaker 2: It's it's so fucking awesome. And then we have Isaac,
- 59:44Speaker 2: which is disappointing to me, but he is saying that
- 59:47Speaker 2: his pooky Kaylan is pressuring him too much to move
- 59:51Speaker 2: faster in their relationship, and Kaylan's like, no, I'm not.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Maybe chill out, bro, So we'll see how that happens.
- 59:58Speaker 2: And then we have Lydia and Kim talking. It seems
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: like they are talking on the way to like having
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: lunch together or something, but they're talking about Joshua, who
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: is Kim's kid that passed away tragically in two thousand
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: and eight because she ran over him by accident. But
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: she is upset with Lydia for the way that Lydia
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: talked about it, which is interesting. And then we also
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: have a scene with Kim going to some fake therapist
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: talking about Joshua's death.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: And sorry, I was rude to say it that way.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: That was very traumatic. I can't even imagine she did
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: run over her child, but it was an accident. But
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's just tragic.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: It's just tragic.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna just not say anything right now. Yeah.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: And then we have Isaac, of course, saying he thinks
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: that his mom has been unfairly targeted this entire time,
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: and she's actually been right about everything. And he's saying
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: this to Ethan, which I'm just like, what are y'all
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: drinking the kool aid? They're drinking something, they are And
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: then we have Zach at some point giving Ethan his
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: opinion or advice or something about his relationship with Teagan.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: I don't know if this is like producer fakery or not,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: but what Zach says about the situation pisses Ethan off.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: But everything pisses Ethan off. So I don't know, girl,
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: this season looks like it is going to be fire.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: And so the question going into this season was, could
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: we have an entertainting season of Welcome to Platfilm without
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Olivia mm hmm and all of her narcissistic attributes and
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Veronica without all of her psychotic, potentially dangerous attributes. Uh huh.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: And I think the answer based on what we're seeing
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: is yes, Like I'm into it. Oh, I'm so sorry.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: I was so excited about it. I love this. We
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: don't need outsiders necessarily. I mean, I think that they
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: trigger conversations about the family that are interesting, but we
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: don't actually need them because there's enough dysfunction inherent in
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: the plaths for us to talk for a million years
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: about this family.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: And I honestly love it so much. It's really great
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: because there's no other show like it on TV right now. Yeah,
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: i'd Sister Wives, I guess, but Sister Wives is so
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: produced now that.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: There's such a stark difference. Yes, there's such a stark difference.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: It doesn't feel as scripted. You know, Cody and Robins
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: standing in their places in the driveway to have a
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: scripted conversation. Obviously they thought about what was gonna happen
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: in this episode. We're gonna have a talk. It's gonna
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: be eighty percent of the episode. But it felt real.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: It felt like there's real injuries and wounds here that
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: they need to get over.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: It.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Felt like there was jealousy, there was passivity, there were problems,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: and I'm here for.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: It, and I will say and this will be just
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: my final point. I won't go on too much of
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: a tangent. I do appreciate that the Plaths have always
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: been able to have these like group family discussions, because
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: on Sister Wise, for example, it's always just one on one,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: especially the last several seasons, like we can't ever get
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: these adults in the same fucking room, right, But with
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: the Plaths, consistently from season one, they have always done this.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: They've always had these like group family discussions, even involving Olivia,
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: evolving Veronica, involving all these other people. And you know,
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: even though they are very dysfunctional, they still at least
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: try to come at it from a semi like I
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: don't want to say stable, like semi like coherent yeah,
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: or like yeah coherent standpoint where they can actually try
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: and hear people out and try to come to a
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: common understanding. Like sometimes it ends up in fights, or
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: sometimes it ends up with a little bit of drama
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: before Lucky, but like it's still really refreshing to see
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: them all in one room, even Bury and Kim, like
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Bury and Kim being able to talk to each other
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: and interact with each other for the sake of their
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: children and not be super vitriolic. I mean, Kim is
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: a little bit. I mean she's thrown some digs at
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: Berry because she's jealous that he's all fit and she's fat.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: But at least they can be in the same room
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: together and talk and it not be so horrible like incestry.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I think that is such a good point, and it
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: makes all the difference. I think so many of us
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: who watched Sister Wives season after season were there because
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: we've been there from the beginning and or we're recapping
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: it for a podcast or whatever. But like, I'm actually
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: watching this because I'm invested and interested in this actual
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: family and what they're gonna do and what is coming next.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: And I believe it also me too. Like there was
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: a season, not last season, but the season before that
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: where they were doing too much manufactured bullshit where I
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: was like, hmmm, I might have to bounce if you
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: don't get real.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: It was too much Olivia and her vagina hair just boyfriend.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and like them going to like a carnival
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: or something. It was just all bad. But then last
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: season was fire. This season looks great as long as
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: they can keep it authentic and like we're actually looking
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: at a real family trying to work through their shit.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: There's going to be some production fuckery, but if for
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the most part what we're seeing is a real situation,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: I'm into me too bid Thank God, I love it.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: I'm here for it to a long Hooday. Yes, Well,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: is there anything else that we should say to these
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: beautiful raccoons before we get up on out of here.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Well, if you love our podcast, please go show us
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: some love and go to your favorite podcast platform leave

- 1:05:41Speaker 2: very much.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: We are going to be back on Tuesday for the
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: general pod earlier for Patreon, but on Tuesday with our
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: next installment of Sister Wives. Yes, we're doing rewinds. We
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: are going through the records. We are in season eight,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: so Tuesdays will be Sister Wives Rewinds. Thursdays will be
