- 0:00Coming up... This is hilarious, Brianna's face.
- 0:04She's so scared. I am sometimes, honestly, about
- 0:08the things that come out of your mouth. Well,
- 0:11you can raw, but you cannot hide. What? Before
- 0:19we started recording, Brianna started talking
- 0:23about how she's taking a stand against rawhides.
- 0:29And that plays into the topic of animal ghosts.
- 0:34Do you want to elaborate? No. Give us a good,
- 0:39fun fact of why that is bad for dogs, Brianna.
- 0:45Well, just rawhide, like dogs can't digest rawhides,
- 0:48so don't feed your dog rawhides, because also
- 0:52if they eat too big of a piece, it can create
- 0:55an intestinal blockage, and that causes surgery
- 0:58to correct, and that is very expensive. It can
- 1:03also create animal ghosts, which is the topic
- 1:06of today's discussion. Allegedly, we don't know.
- 1:11can animals have ghosts that's what we're talking
- 1:14about what is this too is this too morbid should
- 1:18we put a disclaimer no animals were harmed in
- 1:21the making of this uh this this episode yeah
- 1:25i feel i feel like that that should be the title
- 1:27of this episode welcome to our podcast where
- 1:31we take deep dives looking at various topics
- 1:33through a paranormal lens I guess we need to
- 1:39establish off the bat. Do we believe, yes or
- 1:43no, we're going to do this again. Do you believe
- 1:46that animals can have ghosts? Yes. I'm going
- 1:59to say no. What? Yeah. Mind blown. I'm so surprised.
- 2:07I say yes! How? So, okay, here is my thoughts.
- 2:15As someone that wears scrubs frequently, because
- 2:18she's an almost real, imaginary in my head, doctor,
- 2:22doctor, vet. I'm a veterinary assistant at the
- 2:26moment. But you have street cred. Yes, I have
- 2:29street cred, and I own a lot of animals. So,
- 2:32my thought is... If you're thinking about ghosts,
- 2:38like intelligent hauntings, ghosts, souls that
- 2:42are left behind, whatever, or have unfinished
- 2:46business, animals are here on Earth to live,
- 2:53to eat, drink, sleep, to make it to the next
- 2:57day. Like, that is their purpose in life. If
- 3:00it's a dog or a cat, like, their purpose in life
- 3:03is to have fun with you. So when they pass away,
- 3:07they're not going to have unfinished business.
- 3:11They fulfilled their business in life. Well,
- 3:14I'd argue, Bree, maybe my purpose in life is
- 3:19to eat, sleep, and poop too. And if I do those
- 3:22three things in my life, I got nothing to come
- 3:24back for. Why can't that be the meaning of everyone's
- 3:28life? Eat, sleep, shit. I'll just say, I'll drop
- 3:31the shit. Eat, sleep, shit. Eat, sleep, shit.
- 3:35But I do think there can be residual hauntings
- 3:43of animals. It also could be that I don't want
- 3:49to think of an animal being stuck as a ghost.
- 3:53But here's the thing. There's all these different
- 3:56stories of when someone has to put their dog
- 3:59down or they die suddenly or whatever. And then
- 4:02them coming back to their owners the night of,
- 4:06saying their last goodbye. You know, there's
- 4:09so many stories like that. I count that as a
- 4:12ghost. That's like a one -hour ghost, if that
- 4:18makes sense. A temporary ghost. Temporary ghost.
- 4:22I'm still going to stand by what I say. But I
- 4:25get what you say, too. I don't think any animals
- 4:27are going to be... stuck here there could be
- 4:30residuals but i think there is it there could
- 4:33be like one hour ghost a temporary ghost of an
- 4:36animal saying their goodbyes to whoever we need
- 4:39a better term for this anyone listening what's
- 4:43a good term like a spooky term for like a temporary
- 4:45ghost like we need we need a good term um because
- 4:49i i like that concept i never heard of that like
- 4:52just a temporary ghost just like the universe
- 4:55like creates a ghost of something Just to give...
- 4:59Like, isn't that a great concept? Like, the universe
- 5:03creates, like, a... I don't know, spirit or something?
- 5:07Just to give someone a sign and give them comfort?
- 5:10But it's not actually, like, them or their soul?
- 5:13That's wholesome. It's an interesting concept.
- 5:18It's an interesting idea. As someone who... has
- 5:23had a lot of animals in my life and a lot of
- 5:26animals that have passed away. I can't say that
- 5:31I've ever had that experience, but I'm not saying
- 5:34because I haven't had that experience that other
- 5:37people haven't. I'm just saying that I probably
- 5:40have had more animals in my life at this point
- 5:44than most people will ever have in their life.
- 5:48And... if that is an experience that some people
- 5:51have i feel like i should fall into that majority
- 5:55and i don't like but i don't but here's the thing
- 6:01there might be a reason why you don't though
- 6:03see all right just jumping in real quick to say
- 6:08if you heard that sound and you're wondering
- 6:11what was that me too while editing i noticed
- 6:14this weird i don't want to say it's like is definitively
- 6:18a voice but it sounds like a deep voice and i'm
- 6:21also definitely not saying it's a ghost don't
- 6:24know what it is it's unexplained i'm gonna play
- 6:27it again right here that sound i don't know what
- 6:32it was one more time again could be anything
- 6:36could be something Could be nothing. Who knows?
- 6:40But it jumped out to me, and I assumed it might
- 6:43have caught your ear if you're listening attentively.
- 6:46So I just want to say, I don't know what that
- 6:48was. Let us know what you think it could be.
- 6:51Just going to play it one more time. Yeah, I
- 6:53don't know. All right, let's dive back into the
- 6:55conversation. Like, here's the thing. You have
- 6:57had so many animals in your life that I'm not
- 7:02saying, like, you're used to the death of your
- 7:05animals, because that's always going to be hard.
- 7:08But you know how to take it better compared to
- 7:10someone who only has had only one animal in their
- 7:14lifetime. If you think of it that way and think
- 7:17of it as like... Because it could be a person's
- 7:21coping mechanism. I was going to say. I don't
- 7:25want to say that. I don't want to say that because
- 7:28I believe in the idea of your pet coming back
- 7:32to comfort you after they've passed. It's a beautiful
- 7:35idea. It's a beautiful thought. But also, could
- 7:39it just be a coping mechanism for grief? Yeah.
- 7:42The human mind is powerful. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 7:47Well, to Bree's point, too, I want to go back.
- 7:50I agree with everything she said, but I do think
- 7:53when it comes to residual energy, I think all
- 7:57hauntings are residual energy anyways. That's
- 8:00why I said yes. I don't think if a dog always,
- 8:04you know, runs up and down the stairs creating
- 8:07an imprint and then you still hear that after
- 8:09they pass, you know, and you're like, oh, that
- 8:12was Billy the dog. Yeah. You know, so. I work
- 8:19in a vet clinic, and we do see many a pet pass
- 8:26away at the vet clinic. Oh, I thought you were
- 8:28going to say you do see many pet ghosts. You'd
- 8:32think, also, like, if people believe in, like,
- 8:36the place where a human dies is where they haunt,
- 8:40like, wouldn't vet clinics be super haunted with
- 8:43animal ghosts? hmm no but with your points that
- 8:49you made no they're not gonna exactly and i and
- 8:53i know that as like experience wise like i've
- 8:58been in my vet clinic by myself there's nothing
- 9:02there if you ask one of my co -workers they would
- 9:06disagree maybe i'll investigate one of my co
- 9:11-workers she claims she was in the clinic by
- 9:15herself like closing up her dog was with her
- 9:19and she was in the back dog runs and her dog
- 9:25started acting very nervous and they started
- 9:29hearing knocking on one of the side like the
- 9:35the dog runs are have like plastic walls they
- 9:38started hearing knocking almost like a dog wagging
- 9:41its tail against the wall And they got out of
- 9:46there. Like, they left. What's to be scared about
- 9:49a ghost dog? The fact that it's a ghost, and
- 9:53people typically in this field, or, well, I guess
- 9:57not everybody, but, like, a lot of people, you
- 10:00know, average people don't really have experience
- 10:03with ghosts or want to, so it would be scary.
- 10:09That is fair. Again, I'll bring it back to the
- 10:12residual hauntings. Yes. I don't think there's
- 10:15a single one -off experience is reason to call
- 10:17a place haunted. But if it was haunted, or if
- 10:22a vet clinic happens to be haunted, there can
- 10:25be haunted vet clinics, it's probably going to
- 10:29be from residual activity and probably residual
- 10:31haunting. And if it is a residual haunting, again,
- 10:35do you agree or disagree that... Doesn't matter
- 10:38if a dog left the imprint or a human or a cat
- 10:42or a bunny or a hamster or a guinea pig. If a
- 10:46residual motion, you know, a hamster on the hamster
- 10:50wheel, that sound or whatever. Imagine a haunted
- 10:54hamster wheel. Haunted hamster wheel. If it just
- 11:00keeps, you can hear the sound of it spinning.
- 11:03Even after Murphy the hamster died. oh my god
- 11:09that would be residual and like does it like
- 11:13i think that would still be applicable to whatever
- 11:17the rules or laws of residual energy are yeah
- 11:21um so i think what are is what we're saying that
- 11:28the energy of animals can remain on earth they
- 11:33just don't function or exist In all the same
- 11:38ways. Or even any of the same ways as humans.
- 11:42I would say that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I just. That
- 11:51would break my heart. If there is an animal stuck
- 11:54here. Like their soul wise or whatever. And it's
- 11:58just like. I don't understand why any animal
- 11:59would be stuck here. Because when you said Bree.
- 12:03Their purpose is just to. live and love, you
- 12:07know? Like, why would they be punished by these
- 12:10things? Even if you're thinking about, like,
- 12:13in this circumstance, we're just talking about
- 12:16pets. Like, if you want to take it a step further,
- 12:19you could talk about wild animals. And, like,
- 12:22their purpose is just to survive. To survive,
- 12:26yeah. Like, for Pete's sake. Huh? Huh? Why do
- 12:33you say that? For Pete's sake. Who's Pete? Want
- 12:39me to tell you who Pete is? So... Brianna's just
- 12:48like, what? I'm generally so confused. This is
- 12:56hilarious. Brianna's face. She's so scared. I
- 13:03am sometimes honestly about the things that come
- 13:06out of your mouth. Like, I just don't understand
- 13:08where this is coming from. You're trying to relate
- 13:10Pete's sake to animals. Oh, I said, do you want
- 13:14to know about Pete? And then she... No, you said
- 13:18Pete's sake. Okay. Anyways. Tell us about Pete,
- 13:25Ben. Who's the... Who the fuck is Pete? So there's...
- 13:33A haunted location. Me and Brianna almost investigated
- 13:37one time, but it was planned for March 2020,
- 13:40and obviously that didn't happen for various
- 13:43reasons, and then we never went back. We've investigated
- 13:47next door at this place called the Howell Opera
- 13:49House, which is a haunted opera house. But in
- 13:52town, there's a haunted theater where if you
- 13:58go ask Google, the Google AI responds. on who
- 14:03haunts that theater the ai response needs to
- 14:07improve their punctuation skills because it says
- 14:10the two apparitions are a ghost lion and husband
- 14:17killed by a woman so the lion was killed by a
- 14:21woman that's what he would think based on their
- 14:24lack of punctuation but actually they're totally
- 14:27separate hang on this was this is even better
- 14:31it was not just a woman that killed her husband
- 14:33saw a lion killed the lion totally separate instances
- 14:36apparently i was gonna say is the the husband
- 14:39married to the lion no no that's how it sounds
- 14:43yes like i said they need to work on their punctuation
- 14:47skills totally separate instances but i was intrigued
- 14:49so i did more research um turns out this theater
- 14:53um is very old And back in the day, a traveling
- 14:58circus came through, and there was a famous lion
- 15:02in the circus, a circus lion named Pete. And
- 15:07when in town, not at the theater, I don't think,
- 15:11but in town before the show, he died. So what
- 15:16did they do? They took him to the theater anyways.
- 15:20The dead lion, they took the dead lion to the
- 15:23theater, and he is still to this day. buried
- 15:26on the property so instead of yeah yeah so before
- 15:32a circus performance this lion died and they
- 15:37buried him at the theater instead of having him
- 15:39perform at the theater why would they bury him
- 15:43there that makes no sense where else are they
- 15:46gonna be putting you're just gonna drag the dead
- 15:49lion across The state or country to bury them
- 15:52somewhere else? I mean, it was different times
- 15:55back then. What happens to these animals when
- 16:01they die? I actually haven't thought about that.
- 16:04Like circus animals? Yeah, is there a circus
- 16:06graveyard? I think they're... I don't know, actually.
- 16:11I would think if they're like... main star attractions,
- 16:19they would actually have a place that they bury
- 16:22them. Otherwise, I feel like they'd probably
- 16:25be... Huh? Main attraction? Like a lion? Main
- 16:31attraction? I see what you did there. I'm continuing.
- 16:36Either that or have them cremated because they're
- 16:40constantly on the move. But here's the thing.
- 16:43Modern circuses... don't really have animals
- 16:47anymore because it's seen as animal abuse and
- 16:50cruelty. Correct, yeah. But they still do. Some
- 16:55of them, yeah, depending on, like, where. But
- 16:59I'm just saying, like, back in the days when
- 17:01that probably was more normal, they probably,
- 17:04like, cremation was in a... Probably wasn't a
- 17:07thing for them. I don't know. They probably just
- 17:09buried them on the spot wherever they could.
- 17:11Because what are they going to do? Carry a big
- 17:14giant animal on horseback to a new location?
- 17:19Yeah. They used trains. They didn't use horseback.
- 17:23Exactly. That's animal cruelty. Having a horse
- 17:30carry a dead lion across the country. Or just
- 17:33Oregon trail it and just... throw them off to
- 17:36the side like they did when horses died on the
- 17:39Oregon Trail. I don't know. I mean, I guess you
- 17:43gotta look it up. I don't know. It's intriguing,
- 17:46but like yeah, my point is this is way more fascinating
- 17:51and intriguing than the initial theory that I
- 17:55thought would be entertaining of like a woman.
- 17:57How does she kill a lion in the midst of killing
- 18:00her husband? No, that's not what happened. But
- 18:03this is way more intriguing and interesting.
- 18:05And to this day, people investigate this theater
- 18:09and they see the shadow of a lion. They have
- 18:17caught growls, multiple investigators, that sound
- 18:21like a lion. Yeah. Well, I have heard, like,
- 18:25about old abandoned zoos being haunted. As well.
- 18:31I don't know if you've ever heard of that. I
- 18:34have. I feel like that would be interesting.
- 18:37No, with the animals. Really? Like people hearing
- 18:42the animals at night or seeing things pacing
- 18:45in the cages. But it's still like that's that
- 18:50residual energy I feel like that's left behind.
- 18:52But that wouldn't make sense for there to be
- 18:57a lion haunting if we're considering animal hauntings
- 19:01to be residual it wouldn't make sense for the
- 19:03lion to be like haunting the theater if it never
- 19:07actually performed there that's true maybe it
- 19:10did though i mean maybe did in multiple performances
- 19:13i need to do more research into the the nuances
- 19:16and fine details that would be a fun story to
- 19:19find like actual newspapers on because i yeah
- 19:21i still i can't believe Who's hearing a growl
- 19:25and their first thought is, did a lion ever die
- 19:28on this property? If you hear a growl, is your
- 19:32first thought, did a lion die on this property?
- 19:35And then imagine a surprise where, what if Angela
- 19:40just came up to you and said, you know, I'm not
- 19:42psychic, but I think a lion died here. Like,
- 19:46I can't get this out of my head. And you do research
- 19:48and a lion is actually buried in this random
- 19:51theater. I'd believe in everything if that happened.
- 20:01So that's Pete. That's who Pete was. Huh. Anyway,
- 20:07I looked up the circus scene. Most of the animals
- 20:09are just kind of buried quietly in unmarked locations.
- 20:14Kind of wherever they died. Yeah, that makes
- 20:17sense. Wait, so it is the thing that like...
- 20:23Because I remember when I was a kid, I thought
- 20:25it was so cool, like, people would dig up dinosaurs
- 20:27in their backyard, right? Like, dinosaurs could
- 20:30be buried under a parking lot. Like, anywhere
- 20:35you go, there could be dinosaur bones. But there
- 20:38is also a whole underground dead skeleton circus.
- 20:45I guess so. Yeah? You know, there used to be,
- 20:48like, a... I don't know when. Somewhere in Holland,
- 20:54at one point, there was a, like, a private zoo,
- 20:59and they just buried all their animals on the
- 21:03shore of Lake Michigan. And my dad would be,
- 21:07like, on the beach, and he said that he would
- 21:09dug up a full -on, like, like, elephant leg bone
- 21:14at one time when he was a kid. That was on the,
- 21:17like, right on Lake Michigan. Wow. Uh -huh. Interesting.
- 21:26Huh. So they could be anywhere. Huh. Huh. Huh.
- 21:33Huh. Huh. Huh. So, any other things you want
- 21:42to get on record about current thoughts on animal
- 21:47ghosts or hauntings? No. I think I've said just
- 21:52about everything that I want to say. This might
- 21:56be a little short on the short side, but, you
- 21:58know, we'll make it up next week with a three
- 22:00-hour special. How about that? More yes or no?
- 22:04Three hours. Can you imagine talking for three
- 22:08hours? I actually kind of can. Actually, yeah.
- 22:13It's doable. Yeah, we've done it before a few
- 22:18times. Just not on a podcast. Yeah, I feel like
- 22:23nobody would listen to us for three hours straight.
- 22:26No, I'd chop that up anyways into multiple episodes.
- 22:29I wouldn't even be able to listen back to that.
- 22:32I'd be like, what were we thinking? This is stupid.
- 22:39We can't even make a three -hour movie. All 200
- 22:43episodes of the Afterlife Road web series don't
- 22:46even add up to... One hour. Three hours. No.
- 22:52Not happening. Not happening now. Maybe in the
- 22:57future. Who knows. Alright. Final thoughts? Nah.
- 23:06I'm good. Ange? I'm good. Alright. Well, adios
- 23:14amigas. Amigos. People listening. Animals that
- 23:19are listening. Anyone that's listening. Pete,
- 23:23if you're out there, we'll find you. That was
- 23:27so ominous. That's such a threat. Jeez Louise,
- 23:30Ben. We'll find you, Pete. Beware, Pete. The
- 23:37lion. You can roar, but you cannot hide. Thanks
- 23:45for listening to this week's episode of Paranormal
- 23:47Lens. If you liked what you heard, every five
- 23:49-star rating and positive review tells the algorithms
