Transcript
- 0:00As part of Ferrari Fridays, William Ross from the Exotic Car Marketplace
- 0:04will be discussing all things Ferrari and interviewing people that live
- 0:07and breathe the Ferrari brand.
- 0:09Topics range from road cars to racing, drivers to owners, as well
- 0:13as auctions, private sales, and trends in the collector market.
- 0:24Welcome everyone back to the Ferrari Marketplace.
- 0:27I'm your host, William.
- 0:29Uh, in this podcast, uh, we're going to discuss my little trip.
- 0:33I took out West to Cali and checking out a couple of private collections.
- 0:37One, Mr.
- 0:38Bruce Meyer and another David Sikoric, uh, had some outstanding stuff.
- 0:42David probably don't know so much, but Bruce Meyer, uh, not the buggy guy, just
- 0:46to kind of clarify, cause I got asked that a little bit, uh, but no, Bruce has got a
- 0:51phenomenal collection and, uh, he's like.
- 0:54King of the car world, so to speak, and, uh, on the board and one of the
- 0:57founding members of the Peterson Museum, an awesome guy, super, super nice guy to
- 1:01talk with, whatnot, he will take the time to speak with you and not kind of dismiss
- 1:05you like, uh, some other individuals or people that, uh, have a lot of money
- 1:09and have a lot of cars and, uh, unless you're on their level, they will really
- 1:12basically ignore you and dismiss you.
- 1:14But Bruce is a fantastic guy.
- 1:16If you ever have the opportunity to, uh, cross paths with him, definitely go up
- 1:19and just say hello, introduce yourself, and he'll talk to you for a little bit.
- 1:23Um, you know, again, so super nice guy.
- 1:25So, but anyways, here at the Ferrari marketplace, you know, we talk about
- 1:28everything, Ferrari, everything that's going on, events, cars, prices, auctions,
- 1:33whatever we got out there, what we can discuss history, you know, going on.
- 1:36I want to drop one on, uh, Luigi, Luigi Gennetti.
- 1:39Um, I'm going to do one here on him pretty soon, but actually I am headed
- 1:45down to Amelia Island tomorrow, so it won't be till next week.
- 1:49So I'm not back till Monday night.
- 1:50Um, actually going to road trip it down to this one.
- 1:54Airline tickets were absolutely insane.
- 1:56So I'm just going to hoof it down.
- 1:58It's only about a 10, 11 hour drive, so no biggie.
- 2:02Uh, can handle that done it many times before.
- 2:06So, but anyways, also just to drop a little mention, you know.
- 2:09Again, I'm just starting and learning this podcast stuff and how this
- 2:12all works and what to do and how to get it organized and get out there.
- 2:16So, if it's a little choppy and, uh, not up to some
- 2:19people's standards, I apologize.
- 2:21I'm working on getting there.
- 2:22You know, one thing I figured out, you know, it's better to have better, uh,
- 2:26I want to say notes, but structure kind of an outline when I talk about, cause
- 2:29I have ADD real bad and I'll start going off on tangents and whatnot.
- 2:33But that really helps quite a bit.
- 2:35So I'm just trying to, you know, get this thing organized and, you know, talk about
- 2:39things that people want to hear about.
- 2:41Um, and also, you know, if you have something you want me to
- 2:44talk about, or you, uh, have a discussion topic, shoot me an email.
- 2:47It's William at the Ferrari marketplace.
- 2:49com.
- 2:50You know, uh, shoot me that, let me know what you want to talk about, and hey,
- 2:53you know, maybe we'll get, uh, get you on the show, too, because that's another
- 2:56thing you want to try and figure out.
- 2:57I know I can probably do it through, I guess, if I have a Zoom with
- 3:00someone, I can record that and do it, but then take this, I don't know.
- 3:04I'm not the biggest computer technical, technical, technological, whatever,
- 3:08however you want to pronounce it.
- 3:10You know, genius is the most apt at it, so I kind of just
- 3:13figure things out, and sometimes.
- 3:14I do the wise thing, I just have my, uh, 16 year old daughter come
- 3:17and help me do a lot of this stuff.
- 3:18So, um, she's a wiz at all this stuff and I'm just not.
- 3:21So, and again with my ADD, I have a hard time sitting and concentrating
- 3:26and trying to put something together after more than like 10, 15 minutes.
- 3:29I just kind of go bonkers, I get a little stir crazy.
- 3:31But anyways, enough back about me.
- 3:33So.
- 3:35Back to our discussion topic today and what I'm going to discuss.
- 3:38So last week, which was, uh, Friday, it was a February 25th.
- 3:45I think it was 26th.
- 3:47Um, let's see here.
- 3:49It was actually the 25th.
- 3:50I got out of plane and set myself out to California for some
- 3:57Ferrari events at the Peterson.
- 3:59Now I also squeezed in a few other things while I was out there too, since I had
- 4:02time and, It kind of worked in my favor having the difference in time change.
- 4:07Now, obviously, I'm in Ohio, that's California, so there's
- 4:09a three hour time difference.
- 4:11So, going to bed basically at 8 o'clock at night, or, you know,
- 4:17up at about 3, 4 in the morning.
- 4:19But that bode well because I was able to actually go out and
- 4:21do a few bunch of other stuff.
- 4:23Um, so, you know, I got in, you know, on Friday.
- 4:27Things were running just a few minutes behind and I got to give a shout out to
- 4:31Ace car rental where I got my car from They were really really cool Great to
- 4:36deal with it was interesting because I went in and how they are They're not like
- 4:40the Hertz or enterprise net where they got an actual bus and picked you up to
- 4:43airport You just gotta jump on a public transportation bus go the first stop which
- 4:46is like takes a minute And so it's not that big of a deal then they got shuttle
- 4:50buses there to take you to their facility But was interesting Is when I, you get
- 4:55to facility, go rent in and they'll, they have like three service counters, you
- 5:00know, people are supposed to work there.
- 5:01So there's only one guy, but then they had another one set up.
- 5:04The guy was doing it remotely.
- 5:05So you just look at the screen and he's there.
- 5:07You talk, they got the camera and you know, it was pretty
- 5:10straightforward doing it.
- 5:11It was really cool to, you know, uh, kind of see that stuff that way.
- 5:13It's like, Hey, maybe they could do more to get more people.
- 5:15But anyways, um, it was interesting.
- 5:17The only kind of drawback was, is the one guy working inside the shop.
- 5:22It's kind of got a handle.
- 5:24That guy's paperwork and handing stuff out because I had to stay in there for about
- 5:27five minutes and wait while he dealt with another customer that was really just
- 5:32ignorant to the whole process and whatnot.
- 5:34And so I kind of digged and I finally got up and stood up and kind of started making
- 5:38a little bit of ruckus to get the guy.
- 5:40Hey, you know, I like to go, I'm good to go.
- 5:42I just need my keys, my thing.
- 5:43So, but anyways, I was supposed to just get some little crap box car.
- 5:49I was like, you know, trying to go cheap.
- 5:51But when I got there, I need something a little bit more fun.
- 5:53I'm in California.
- 5:55And they had some, uh, chargers out front, some brand new chargers with the Hemi's.
- 5:59So, tons of power, tons of torque.
- 6:01So I just think, what, what can I get on the, you know, jump into that?
- 6:04And the guy hooked me up and it was, it wasn't that much more expensive.
- 6:08It was like another 70 bucks for the three days.
- 6:10And I was like, done.
- 6:12And I tell you what, wise choice.
- 6:13If you ever have the chance to drive one.
- 6:15I tell you what take one for a spin and if you can't go for farther I mean I was on
- 6:19the highway this thing cruising like 85 I mean you just it's a it is a outstanding
- 6:24highway cruising car But you know where I stayed at was up in Topanga Canyon and
- 6:29going up Topanga Canyon Road You know very twisty curvy through the hill what?
- 6:32This thing handled phenomenal for this big car.
- 6:36I tell you what, this thing was great.
- 6:38You know, I highly recommend it.
- 6:39It was almost to the point.
- 6:40So you know what, this isn't a bad car.
- 6:41I'm gonna see my baby get one just as a daily.
- 6:43Um, but anyways, she was kind of, I just a little sidebar on that again,
- 6:47it's my ADD jumping in, but I just want to give a shout out to them and that
- 6:50Charger I ran, cause that thing was cool.
- 6:52It was a lot of fun.
- 6:53Lots and lots of fun.
- 6:54If you check out the YouTube channel, um, I'm working on after this podcast
- 6:58is I got to put the videos together.
- 6:59I'm going to drop, uh, all the videos I took over the weekend over there.
- 7:02So cause, so I got in Saturday, uh, Friday and you know, got the car, just
- 7:07kind of did some tooling around, went and checked into my Verbo, uh, stayed there.
- 7:11I got to give a shout out to Andrew and Peter, uh, the host there.
- 7:13Great little, um, basically it's a she shed.
- 7:16There's a half bath in it.
- 7:18And this kind of, it was kind of fun doing it this way too.
- 7:21It was a little bit different, I guess.
- 7:22You know, there's a half bath in the bath, uh, in the she shed.
- 7:25You know, it's not very big.
- 7:25It's got a loft bed.
- 7:27Um, you know, there's a full shower and everything in there,
- 7:28which is great, just a sink.
- 7:30But to use the bathroom, you gotta go out your thing and gotta walk
- 7:33maybe, I don't know, 50 feet.
- 7:35If that, maybe 20, I don't know.
- 7:37It wasn't that far.
- 7:38You had to go over to the main house where the one bath, you know, bathroom is.
- 7:40You had to, you know, take a dump or whatnot.
- 7:44Now, I don't know about you, but I was getting up in the middle
- 7:48of the night when I had to pee.
- 7:49I just went in the sink.
- 7:50I wasn't going to get up and walk outside, especially it was getting
- 7:51a little bit chilly there when I was out there, which was kind of entry
- 7:55was getting down into the forties.
- 7:56So I was like, gosh, I'm just going in the sink.
- 7:58Big deal.
- 7:58It's all pipes, right?
- 7:59All goes to the same place.
- 8:01Um, but anyways, you'll get up at, uh, just kind of a shout out to them.
- 8:04But anyways, So I just got there, got settled in.
- 8:08I ran back out, ran to the grocery store, grabbed some stuff like that.
- 8:11Just, you know, so I have snacks, some bananas and that kind of stuff.
- 8:13So I had it.
- 8:14So, but so since I was up the next morning, so I went to bed at eight
- 8:18o'clock, I was up at three o'clock, you know, and that's just like, usually when
- 8:21I'm at home, I go to bed at 10, three 11 and I'm up at five, five 30 ish.
- 8:24Anyways, I go to the gym and all that crap.
- 8:26So, but anyways.
- 8:27So Saturday morning, I was up kind of doing some other things and doing some
- 8:31posting that stuff, trying to kill some time, but I got up and ready.
- 8:35So I left about seven 30 ish.
- 8:36And first place I wanted to go check out was West coast car
- 8:40stores, Matt Farah's place.
- 8:41I don't know if you ever watch any of his stuff, you know, the smoking tire.
- 8:43He's got great stuff.
- 8:45But anyway, so I got there, I pulled in and just by happenstance,
- 8:49you know, the doors open up.
- 8:50They're bringing out a car for one of their customers.
- 8:52Um, beautiful four, eight, eight, uh, Ferrari, uh, in the Bianco white.
- 8:56I think it was gorgeous.
- 8:57I'm a fan of white cars.
- 8:59I don't know about you guys, but anyways, came out and was parking.
- 9:02So the two guys that were working there, young gentlemen, started talking to them a
- 9:05little bit and They say, Hey, no problem.
- 9:07We'll take you on a tour, which is super nice guys, super nice guys.
- 9:10Again, videos will be dropping on the channel.
- 9:13Uh, it took me around the place and I don't know if you've ever
- 9:16seen any of the videos or whatnot.
- 9:17If you look up Matt's page, you look at what it's at.
- 9:19Um, he's got, it's a really cool setup.
- 9:22I know they're getting, uh, their plans are is to build more of them, but just
- 9:26out in California, down in Southern Cali.
- 9:28Now I wanted to talk with Matt, but he wasn't there.
- 9:31Cause Mike thought was, you know what?
- 9:32This could work.
- 9:34And I don't know how well you were immersed in car whatnot and find about
- 9:37car storage, but it's shocking even like where I'm at that you would think that,
- 9:42you know, wouldn't be that big of a deal.
- 9:43It is a big problem.
- 9:45Um, I know a gentleman that's got a facility, uh, not far
- 9:49from me and his things packed to the gills with cars year round.
- 9:54And this is, you know, Ohio, where there's plenty of land, plenty of space, whatnot,
- 9:57but people just don't want that vehicle taking up space if they're only driving it
- 10:01once a month or whatnot, so, and getting in and out, so, obviously the thought
- 10:05was, I'd like to, you know, copy this.
- 10:07I put one here in Cleveland somewhere, even East side and West side.
- 10:11I mean, cause it's cool, you know, they had a nice little like setting,
- 10:14clubhouse setting type deal.
- 10:16Wasn't huge, you know, it's a wet bar, everything like that.
- 10:19Um, had his, you know, uh, media room, I guess you'd call it, you
- 10:23know, to do podcasts and that type of filming and that stuff.
- 10:26So it was really nice setup.
- 10:27I mean, you know, go there, hang out, whatnot.
- 10:29And, you know, I'd ask them, hey, they do parties or whatnot.
- 10:31And I guess they're kind of getting ready to do a small one.
- 10:34Um, you know, for members and what have you, but it's really cool storage
- 10:38wise, you know, how you got what you're pulling out on the, I guess the main
- 10:42building, I guess you could say it's above ground, you know, they got a
- 10:45six rack, you know, stackers there to stack your cars and they're kind of
- 10:50Some sides it's like too deep and they said it only takes like 10 minutes to
- 10:53get a car Even if it's like a back all the way up top in that corner It only
- 10:56takes about 10 minutes to get a car out.
- 10:57So it's really easy and simple, you know, it's climate controlled
- 11:01I mean like that so check it out.
- 11:02It's really cool.
- 11:03It's right now.
- 11:03It's a really cool place.
- 11:05Then after that I took a tool around and I was like, you know what I'm
- 11:09gonna go check out singer and See if I can find so now I found I googled
- 11:15mapped it and I got out there and I tell you what I, I couldn't find it.
- 11:19It was just walls and whatnot.
- 11:20So there was no indication, anything that senior was where it was at.
- 11:24So I kind of struck out there and besides on the.
- 11:28website.
- 11:28They say that they don't give out tours or anything unless you actually
- 11:31are physically ordering a car and I wasn't physically ordering a car at
- 11:35that time and nor do I have that kind of money to be able to afford a singer.
- 11:39So the next stop was actually Jay Leno's garage was actually just
- 11:43about five minutes from there.
- 11:44So I went over to Jay's place to see if I could maybe catch some action going
- 11:47on and maybe just by luck stumble in and may look, you know, get a walk around
- 11:51tour, have Jay show around me, whatnot.
- 11:53But again, nothing going on.
- 11:54Gates all closed up and whatnot.
- 11:56Now, there were three reliable car carrier trucks parked out on his street.
- 12:01So, I don't know if they were there to pick up cars for
- 12:04Jay to take to Amelia Island?
- 12:06Or they were dropping off or what?
- 12:08But maybe I should have hung out a little bit longer because someone was
- 12:10going to have to show up eventually.
- 12:12Because that was the only place there on that street that those
- 12:15cars would have anything to do with.
- 12:16So, again, I don't know what they were doing or if they
- 12:18were picking up or whatnot.
- 12:19So, who knows?
- 12:21But after that, I kind of struck out anywhere else I kind of wanted to
- 12:24go, so I just went back to my place.
- 12:26Uh, hung out for about an hour and then I headed to the Peterson.
- 12:29Now, what they had going on was really cool.
- 12:31Uh, it was very limited to how many people could go.
- 12:34Now, you got to the Peterson, you checked in.
- 12:36Now, you were able to go in with, uh, be able to do this, is you got to go into
- 12:40the Peterson, check out and walk around.
- 12:41I got some awesome videos of the Peterson that I'll put up, uh,
- 12:45walking around and everything.
- 12:46And again, I highly, highly recommend, if you're ever in that
- 12:49area, even with a couple hours, you can make it a trip just for that.
- 12:52Go there check out the main floor, but definitely go check out the vault now
- 12:56They don't let you take really any media or do anything like that unless you
- 12:58have permission So I wasn't able to get anything's I don't want to get kicked out
- 13:01because it was before we were going on our tour So but anyway, so I got that stuff.
- 13:06But first stop we went to was Bruce Meyer's private collection now if
- 13:12those of you in the know know who Bruce Meyer is, you know what who he is
- 13:15and what he does and his I guess, um, participation, I would say what his role
- 13:22is or how he plays, you know, he's a founding member of the Peterson Museum.
- 13:24He's on the board.
- 13:26Um, but he really doesn't, you know, he doesn't have a ton of cards, but the cards
- 13:30he has are phenomenal and he doesn't.
- 13:33Just anybody to come.
- 13:34Look, you got to get invited.
- 13:35You got to get invited personally by him So we went there first and
- 13:39if you know where this is at, it's not really it's like by Wilshire nap
- 13:43I want to say not downtown Beverly Hills, but kind of Jason why not?
- 13:46but if you're driving down the street, you would have no idea up on the second floor
- 13:51of That this collection was up there.
- 13:53I mean, you can't tell, it's not like you can even see through windows from
- 13:56the outside or anything like that.
- 13:58So you go up on the second floor, cause it's above a restaurant.
- 14:01I felt bad for these people that were eating because we were kind of standing
- 14:04out there, a bunch of us waiting to go up, you know, someone to show us where to
- 14:08stand, so we're trying to get up there.
- 14:11And what's really cool is as you walk in, you're kind of up high and it overlooks.
- 14:18Everything.
- 14:18His whole collection, the whole nine yards.
- 14:20And basically the first thing that your eyes gravitate to is the 250
- 14:24Testarossa sitting in the corner.
- 14:27Uh, that John von Neumann used to, uh, own.
- 14:30Uh, and then there's one of the original Yellowbirds parked right there.
- 14:33And then there's a Bentley parked right there.
- 14:36Uh, Bentley blower.
- 14:37Uh, then there's a Bugatti back over on the elevator.
- 14:41But then as you kind of step in more, you start seeing some others tucked away.
- 14:44You know, he had the, you know, you saw the brakes coming in fat, but then you
- 14:47saw the bizzare any, uh, the, that, uh, he does his two 50 SWB stand in there.
- 14:54Um, I mean, just phenomenal stuff.
- 14:56And then it's cool as you didn't, you come down the stairs to go in and
- 15:00check out the facility and like off, you know, when you get down to that
- 15:03level there, you know, there's kind of railing what now, like you said,
- 15:05you'll be able to see this in the video.
- 15:07But off to the left, he's got a nice seating area, couch seats and whatnot.
- 15:10And then past that, there's like a, a dining room table.
- 15:14You know, you can sit a few people at about six or seven
- 15:16people and stuff like that.
- 15:17And then off to the left, he's got, you know, his little kitchenette.
- 15:20Now there's no stove or nothing, but it's got the fridge and all that stuff.
- 15:23You know, he wanted to make cocktails.
- 15:24And then along that whole wall, and then he's got all his memorabilia.
- 15:28He's got all the trophies he's won.
- 15:30Everything from all the things, you know, events he's entered, like
- 15:33Pebble Beach and all that jazz.
- 15:35But tons of literature, books, everything.
- 15:37He's got all these cool models and some helmets and have just all, you know,
- 15:41little trinkets and stuff that he has here and there and everything like that.
- 15:44But there's some cool stuff hanging on the wall.
- 15:45He's got like, he's got this miniature.
- 15:47I'd say it's maybe one eighth scale.
- 15:51Maybe 1 10th scale of an old midget racer from the 50s up on the wall And I didn't
- 15:58get a chance to ask him but looking at you would swear thing It probably doesn't have
- 16:00a motor in it But anyways, then you come down you got some you go down a couple
- 16:04steps and then you're out on the floor now Mind you what this guy has and what he
- 16:09does, but like I said since we're talking Ferraris, we'll get into specifics I mean,
- 16:12like I said, he had these other cars there But the big one was that 250 Testarossa,
- 16:18it's up on a pedestal and this thing was absolutely stunning, absolutely stunning.
- 16:23I mean, this thing, and it just, and how it's got stuff, because you don't
- 16:26have cars all crammed into this place.
- 16:27He's got them strategically placed throughout the, you know, um, showroom.
- 16:32I don't know what type you want kids, clubhouse.
- 16:34Um, so obviously there's plenty of room, so you get plenty
- 16:37of picture and everything.
- 16:38And again, that was the other beauty of it too.
- 16:40Normally you're not allowed to take pictures or video,
- 16:42but he allowed me to do that.
- 16:44So, which was phenomenal.
- 16:45So checked out his testosterone and then I went over to his 250.
- 16:49Uh, GT, SWB, um, this thing was absolutely stunning.
- 16:54Also, it was great.
- 16:55They knew the windows down, so he kind of reach in, lean in, look
- 16:57at everything, check things out, you know, just super, super cool.
- 17:01So going around, like I said, but what's really cool is right next
- 17:04to that was the Bizzarini that those of you know, he was actually
- 17:08involved in designing the two 50 GTO.
- 17:11Now it's sad that.
- 17:15The evolution, if it would have kept going, if, you know, due
- 17:18to regulations and stuff, it would have kind of maintained it.
- 17:20The Bizzarini design that he did for this probably would have been
- 17:24the next evolution of the GTO.
- 17:26You know, lower, wider, you know, just more aggressive looking.
- 17:31You know, so people say that if he would have stayed there, but, you
- 17:33know, he left during the Palace Revolt, um, that's probably what the
- 17:37next step would have been, the next step in the evolution of the car.
- 17:41would have been that.
- 17:42Now, other cars he has there, you know, he's got the, um, Corvette winning,
- 17:47you know, the Le Mans winning Corvette, uh, from back, I think it's, um, it's
- 17:52what Johnny O'Connell and those guys drove, but he's got that and still has
- 17:54all the dirt, the grime, everything on it, the whole nine yards, just as it
- 17:58was when it left there, so he has that.
- 18:00Um, go around, he's got the Briggs Cunningham Corvette, uh, he's got
- 18:03this really cool Mercedes Cabriolet, That used to be owned by Clark Gable.
- 18:08Uh, and everything's to the nines of this place too.
- 18:11I mean, just absolutely spotless and no, he's got, you know, another, you
- 18:16know, Porsche race car there, but he had this really cool, uh, this
- 18:21Kremer Porsche that used to be owned by the infamous Whittington brothers.
- 18:26Now, those of you with the know, know the Whittington's background,
- 18:29and they were probably the largest.
- 18:32Pot smugglers back in the day and that's how they made all their money
- 18:35and they would actually You know, they owned Atlanta Motor Raceway, not the
- 18:40oval but the track That is now You know Raceway Park, whatever else called
- 18:46again where they do the petite Lamar Can't think of the top of my head.
- 18:50But anyways They used to land there and whatnot bring stuff in and all that stuff.
- 18:55But anyways After that thing was, you know It had been for many, many years in the
- 19:00hands of the DEA, but if I can get out.
- 19:02So anyways, funny story was, you know, Bruce ended up acquiring a vehicle
- 19:07and he's immediately sent it off to get all refurbished, whatnot, cause he
- 19:11drives his cars, races them, whatnot.
- 19:14So anyways, he had taken up to Laguna Seca then for like
- 19:17this first outing in the car.
- 19:19Well, you know, a bunch of his buddies decided to play a joke on him.
- 19:22And they went all out.
- 19:23I mean, they didn't pull no punches, that's for sure.
- 19:26Is, they had these guys come up, there's like You know, look up the video online.
- 19:31It's hilarious because they had these guys dressed up as DEA people came in
- 19:35legit with paperwork, whole nine yards saying they're confiscating the car due
- 19:38to legal ramification because of the blah, blah, blah, blah, all that stuff.
- 19:42You know, cause the winning team history and that stuff, and there was
- 19:44still problems or some kind of stuff.
- 19:46So they actually had a flatbed, everything.
- 19:48Come take the car.
- 19:50But it's funny, Bruce actually even helped them push the car up onto
- 19:54the flat bed and you could just see this distraught look in his face.
- 19:57Like he's freaking out, like, well, okay, what do I do with this?
- 19:59Then who's the first call?
- 20:00So they got to load it up.
- 20:02And he's kind of like, who do I, I need to call so and so and everyone's playing
- 20:05along and everyone else, everyone's in on the jokes that Bruce, so.
- 20:09Finally, as it, as it just about around the corner to leave, they let
- 20:13him in on the joke that, Hey, sorry, this is just a nice big old prank.
- 20:16Oh my, it was too funny.
- 20:17You should see the look of just relief on his face.
- 20:20I highly recommend looking it up.
- 20:22But also he's got some cool hot rods.
- 20:24Um, he's got a lot of the SoCal Speed Shop stuff.
- 20:27He's got the original belly tank racer.
- 20:29Um, he's got the hot rods.
- 20:30But he's also got a really nice collection of motorcycles, which I was not aware of.
- 20:35Um, I said I got a couple pictures posted up, but it's really,
- 20:38really cool what he's got there.
- 20:39You know, a lot of old flat track stuff, he's got a couple cool Harleys.
- 20:42Um, Cafe Racers, uh, Derp the Flat Trackers, XR50, 750s.
- 20:47So, check out the stuff when you go online, you know, check out my Instagram.
- 20:51You know, I post a lot of stuff on LinkedIn, but I said I'll have the
- 20:54videos up and they'll all be on there.
- 20:56Uh, but one really cool thing I saw, it was kind of tucked away.
- 20:59He had a, a, a set or a pair of Evo Knievel's old leathers.
- 21:03The dark blue ones, not the white with the blue, it was the,
- 21:06um, solid blue with the white.
- 21:08So that was really cool too, so.
- 21:10But, uh, again, Awesome collection.
- 21:12You got to check out the videos for that.
- 21:14So now after that, we were able to go up to David Sikoric's
- 21:17house and check out what he has.
- 21:20Now this wasn't again, these guys don't have hundreds and hundreds of cars.
- 21:23It ain't nothing like that.
- 21:24They got a slight few, but they all have some meeting and whatnot.
- 21:29Now what was interesting about going to Sikoric's house,
- 21:32he lives up in Beverly Park.
- 21:34This is up in the hills, way up in the hills.
- 21:38And it's in a gated community and basically Denzel
- 21:42Washington lives back in there.
- 21:43Magic Johnson has a house back in there.
- 21:45So that kind of gives you the, I guess, the residents of this
- 21:48area and who his neighbors are.
- 21:50So we go in all the way into the back and again, look for video because
- 21:54his house is like unbelievable.
- 21:56And the view out the back is absolutely just breathtaking.
- 21:59But anyway, so you come up his driveway and he's a huge, huge Segato fan.
- 22:04Huge Segato fan and it's, you know, what he had, um, was unbelievable.
- 22:14Um, as I guess a collection wise and what he's acquired, um,
- 22:22it's just crazy, crazy stuff.
- 22:25Now, so as soon as you go in and he kind of had the stuff parked out, whatnot.
- 22:29So first day kind of catch the eye cause it's straight ahead.
- 22:32And is that he's got a DB four Zagato parked there.
- 22:38Um, and it is just, I mean, absolutely stunning.
- 22:44But then off to the left, since we're talking, you know, basically
- 22:47about Ferraris, he had the Ferrari two 50 GT Zagato, uh, and
- 22:52he's had it for about 20 years.
- 22:55Um, and I say this thing was fast and what was cool about it, you know, as
- 22:59I talk about is, you know, he took this the next day to the fire event.
- 23:03It was at the Peterson.
- 23:04He drove it there.
- 23:05Uh, so as I said, not some trailer queen.
- 23:07Now, obviously, if he's going to take it to Florida, something like
- 23:09that, he's going to put on trailers.
- 23:10I could be driving this thing down, uh, you know, the four
- 23:12or five ranks like that.
- 23:14But, um, this thing's stunning with the blue with the white, whitest
- 23:19Top, you know, not convertible, but it's got the, the, uh, I guess you
- 23:22call it the greenhouse or whatnot.
- 23:24You know, it's got the double bubble to it.
- 23:26Um, and with the white on it and just absolutely stunning.
- 23:28It's got this like lightest light blue interior.
- 23:31Um, it's starting, but what's really cool is on the gear selector on the top, on the
- 23:36ball or whatever you want to call it on there, the numbers are in Roman numerals.
- 23:40So it's not like one, two, but it's really neat.
- 23:42And it's just that, um, what you might call it, that Bakelite,
- 23:46uh, that I think it was made out, but it is super, super cool.
- 23:49And, I mean, again, check out the Ferrari, check him out, the, the video I got, it's
- 23:55on the, uh, look for the YouTube channel, you know, the Ferrari Marketplace.
- 23:59I'll have it up on there.
- 24:00Uh, it's really, really nice, I'll get into more detail,
- 24:02it's just absolutely stunning.
- 24:04Now he had some other, you know, I guess because the Italian S got it, you know,
- 24:08um, he had, A couple of the Alphas.
- 24:11He had the Alpha Disco Volante that they did.
- 24:14Now it wasn't a running one, it was just a model.
- 24:16No motor, none of that.
- 24:17But you swear you look at it, you swear that thing you just
- 24:19pull out and just go for a drive.
- 24:20Um, and he had an old TZ there too.
- 24:23Now one thing that was cool was he had the, uh, was it the DB7 Zagato.
- 24:28But he also had the body buck for it.
- 24:31Um, and, which was crazy.
- 24:33You know, parked in the garage, he's got the car, but then he's got the
- 24:36body buck that he used to make the car.
- 24:38So that was pretty cool.
- 24:40Um, but the one thing that was, I guess there's actually two
- 24:44other things that were a little bit of surprise and like, okay.
- 24:47He had, he had the, uh, from, uh, 2014.
- 24:51He had the bobsled from the American bobsled team that was made by BMW.
- 24:56He had it in his living room.
- 24:58Now, how cool is that?
- 25:00He had the actual bobsled that BMW made.
- 25:02I think they only made three of them.
- 25:04So how he got it?
- 25:05God only knows.
- 25:06But the other thing that he had in this story is kind of humorous, but this is
- 25:09what it tells you when people got a lot more money than they know what to do with.
- 25:12He had an actual gondola.
- 25:15from Venice, an actual gondola.
- 25:17And the background story was that, you know, he was telling me him
- 25:21and his wife were on vacation.
- 25:22They were in Venice and it was his wife's birthday and she made the comment about
- 25:27the gondola, how much she loved it.
- 25:28She thought it was fantastic.
- 25:29So he cut away at one day and went downstairs and talked to whoever
- 25:33was at the front or whatnot.
- 25:34He says, I, take me where they build these.
- 25:36Take me, you know, he wants to buy one.
- 25:39So he ends up going and And so not really built one from scratch.
- 25:43He had, there was one there that they were refurbishing.
- 25:46So he ends up getting that, buying that, get it refurbished over.
- 25:50I think it took a year or something like that.
- 25:52It took an unbelievable amount of time.
- 25:53Got it shipped over and has it in his garage as a present to his wife.
- 25:57So it'll never be back in the water again or anything like that.
- 26:01But he buys a gondola for his wife as a birthday present.
- 26:05Just to have, and it's in the garage and said, check out the video.
- 26:08It's on there.
- 26:09It just like makes you scratch your head.
- 26:10It's like, why, you know?
- 26:12And I guess when he first got it, they, you know, took it to an event somewhere
- 26:16down there in Beverly Hills or whatever, you know, and just people were like,
- 26:20what, you know, this thing's huge.
- 26:23It's gotta be about 40, 50 feet long, maybe longer.
- 26:27Um, I mean, it's huge.
- 26:30It is massive and.
- 26:32The craftsmanship went down.
- 26:33It's just gorgeous.
- 26:34So hey, check out the video, but um, that's about all I
- 26:38got on regarding that trip.
- 26:40Well, no, I'm sorry.
- 26:41I need to talk about the second day on Sunday, dippin at the Peterson.
- 26:46Totally forgot.
- 26:46Shoo!
- 26:47Again, I looked at my notes, got back to me.
- 26:49So On Sunday, uh, what I had done was again, being up early now, I'd
- 26:55gone online and now out in Malibu, they got the cars and coffee, the
- 26:58infamous cars and coffees in Malibu.
- 27:00Now, I don't know for those of you who know how it kind of works,
- 27:04there was the, I guess, rogue one that was in the one plaza.
- 27:08It wasn't sanctioned, no one organized it, what not.
- 27:10People were just showing up, what not.
- 27:12But all the businesses in that plaza.
- 27:15We're getting super, super pissed off because they were taking
- 27:19up all the spots is creating commotion, loud noise and whatnot.
- 27:22And there's a few restaurants in there.
- 27:24They're none of their patrons had any places to park.
- 27:27They kept complaining and whatnot.
- 27:28So they kind of like about kicking them out and you know, they, they even had
- 27:32where they had put signs that says no car, you know, uh, event park, blah, blah.
- 27:36And they just, people drive up, they just move them.
- 27:38So Armando, a super nice guy got with the city and say, let's do this right.
- 27:44Let's organize this, you know, and we have this sanctioned by
- 27:47the city, everything like that.
- 27:49And so what they do is they have it at the, uh, Malibu Bluffs.
- 27:54And you want to probably talk the most expensive land to have a public park
- 27:58on, because it's right on the ocean.
- 28:00You come out to PCH, make a left, ocean, ocean, and then you got to park, you know,
- 28:05volleyball courts, baseball, whatnot.
- 28:06I mean, so that land's got to be worth, I don't know, 400 million,
- 28:10something crazy, if not more.
- 28:12But anyway, so the event's there.
- 28:14So it's supposed to start at seven to nine.
- 28:16And now I'd read online and talked to people and said, Oh, people usually
- 28:20start showing up around six, 15, six 30, because it gets so busy anyway.
- 28:24So since I was up, I got up, I got there about six 15.
- 28:28I was the first one there.
- 28:30Um, and so I'm sitting away and go again.
- 28:32Okay.
- 28:32So all of a sudden, probably after about 10 minutes or so, 15 minutes,
- 28:35guy pulls in with the trailer and it gets set up because he's there on the,
- 28:41uh, Request of Armando the guy put it on and he's got an old Indy lights car
- 28:4693 Lola So I started talking to him.
- 28:50I helped him unload.
- 28:50He got that so so cars started rolling casually coming in again Check out the
- 28:54video on the YouTube channel Now this one it'll probably be on the Ferrari
- 28:58marketplace channel, but also might be on my other one 65 motorsports So channel
- 29:0265 now if you look that up, it's the word 60 spelled out than the number five
- 29:06Motor sports look that up, but I say you also be able to check it on the Ferrari
- 29:10marketplace I'll put on that one too.
- 29:12I'm kind of trying to keep stuff differentiated I don't want to have
- 29:14a lot of clutter non Ferrari stuff on the Ferrari marketplace But in
- 29:18the beginning here get things up and going I'm gonna have them on both.
- 29:21But anyways, I Get there and that's some cool stuff show up There's some really
- 29:26old like a couple of an old Diablo and old Murcielago both six speed show up.
- 29:29What's really cool There's some older Ferraris and 308s 328 stuff like that 355
- 29:35showed up You know, nothing crazy, nothing good, but, um, he had some older stuff
- 29:40that showed up, uh, he had a gorgeous Z8.
- 29:42That's one of my favorite cars is BMW Z8.
- 29:44Uh, but he had some really stuff, but this one guy showed up in this sweet alpha.
- 29:48Um, it was, uh, 1973, uh, 1600.
- 29:53And what's interesting about it, the body basically in raw metal, just.
- 29:58Feed up what not rough just patina galore.
- 30:00I mean this thing was so sweet, but everything underneath the interior
- 30:02was already done So basically a restomod, you know are done up
- 30:06how uh, what's your name does it?
- 30:08Um, Uh, yeah, what the hell's his name does the start out with the tracks,
- 30:13but um anyways, um Jonathan Ward's place, you know, um, got the lizard.
- 30:19I can't think of the name.
- 30:20I'll top my head again over top But anyways, so there's a lot of cool stuff.
- 30:23I said check it out.
- 30:24I got the videos stuff like that So now as I left and what's interesting he's up
- 30:28and down the PCH All you hear is cars go very screaming past whatnot There's like
- 30:32you get groups of like five six seven of them all together just flying around
- 30:35and so I got left so I'm gonna go down and stop this other one real quick just
- 30:39see if he's got anybody there because Those people there, you know, they got
- 30:43money, so they just ignore the rules.
- 30:44They don't think they apply to them.
- 30:46So I got down there, you know, going down there, which is not even half a mile away.
- 30:51Uh, the amount of cops I saw that was on the PCH and whatnot.
- 30:54So I don't know how many people might've got tickets.
- 30:55But anyways, so I got on there and go through there, you know, seeing a 918, uh,
- 31:00Porsche going to adjust up to the Martini livery, uh, some Lamborghinis, McLarens.
- 31:06Um, you know, stuff like that, you know, a lot of Porsches, everything like that.
- 31:09So I mean, it's pretty cool.
- 31:10Uh, I just kind of pulled through there and stop and get gas.
- 31:13And she's, I don't know if you live in California, but gas out there.
- 31:16Just insane.
- 31:17Probably today it's probably over 6 cause I know it was pushing almost
- 31:20five, 56 when I was out there.
- 31:22So anyways, I left there and I headed to the Peterson for the Ferrari event.
- 31:26Now this is really cool.
- 31:27You know, it was all Ferraris put on the Southwest Ferrari owner's club.
- 31:31Uh, shout out to Peter Lund.
- 31:32Great guy.
- 31:33Talked with him a bunch before this event.
- 31:35But anyway, so you get there and basically it's on the top two
- 31:37floors of the parking garage.
- 31:39Just all Ferrari.
- 31:40So, you go in your park.
- 31:42Now, I get in and I start all the way up to the top.
- 31:45And just kind of go around and you're at a Ferrari event, but what do you see?
- 31:48Gorgeous Lamborghini Countach.
- 31:50White on white.
- 31:51Um, but anyways, you go down, you know, you got your, you know, Standard 4 8 8's,
- 31:584 5 8's, uh, 8 12's, and a TDF up there.
- 32:01You know, some cool stuff, you know, nothing mind blowing, but,
- 32:03you know, stuff is, once you start seeing them in a group, it's like,
- 32:06okay, there's just a ton of red.
- 32:07Now, I went to the edge now, I was on the fifth floor, so the fourth
- 32:11floor, where the main thing was at.
- 32:13And what's really cool, how they have their garage set up is, You
- 32:16know, it's not completely, you know, covered, you know, on the top floor.
- 32:19It's only about half of what the park is.
- 32:21So you have this open area.
- 32:22So actually on the fourth floor, it's still outdoors, you
- 32:25know, you're not under cover.
- 32:26But if the rain, if it happens to rain, like God, you know, like it
- 32:29does so much in LA, you know, you can move everything underneath.
- 32:31But anyways, so going down on that floor and then I started looking
- 32:36around and I, God, you'd not believe.
- 32:38I mean, there's obviously just tons of red.
- 32:40But, you know, everything from Dino's, you know, Going on down the line,
- 32:46uh, you had stuff from the fifties.
- 32:47You had, uh, Tom Wilson had his two 50 GTE there.
- 32:50We go, Tom's a real nice guy.
- 32:51If you got to look him up, you know, he's got the two 50, uh, GT registry.
- 32:56So he runs that, uh, with some other people.
- 32:59Um, but going around and said, it was just.
- 33:02Obviously a majority was newer stuff, um, not so much of the older stuff,
- 33:07but you had the older stuff mixed in because people would come, you know,
- 33:09just pulling in there, um, a lot of 360s.
- 33:13And I was a little surprised though on some of the older stuff,
- 33:15like on 360 or any of the 430s that I didn't see one manual.
- 33:18They were all the F1 transmission was really odd.
- 33:21Um, Which I couldn't figure out which just sidebar.
- 33:25I, I took a blast, uh, earlier this morning in a three 60 spider six speed.
- 33:30Uh, I had some fun with that this morning.
- 33:32Uh, buddy of mine's got this thing up.
- 33:34Uh, but anyways.
- 33:35Uh, that thing was a blast.
- 33:37I'm already done, so I'm thinking about buying it.
- 33:39So, I'm on the fence.
- 33:40When I go down to Amelia Island, I'm making a pit stop in Atlanta
- 33:42because there's a coop that's there.
- 33:44But I need to pause this for one second.
- 33:46And I'm back.
- 33:47Sorry about that.
- 33:48My daughter came home from school and the dogs started barking, so I
- 33:51figured I'd just pause it real quick.
- 33:53But, anyways, back to where I was at.
- 33:56You know, going around the, uh, fourth floor at the Peterson Ferrari event.
- 34:02Now, like I say, I'm majority of the cars, you know, 85, 90 percent
- 34:07we're all, you know, newer stuff.
- 34:09Uh, your four, four or five, eight, four, eight, eight, stuff like that.
- 34:12Um, your eight twelves, you know, stuff along those lines,
- 34:16you know, a lot of California's, um, go on, but was really cool.
- 34:21Uh, David Lee had brought his, some of his cars with the collection.
- 34:25Now I was under the impression that he always had just newer stuff.
- 34:28I didn't realize he had a bunch of older stuff.
- 34:30Um, so he had some really, really cool older stuff.
- 34:34Uh, I said, I got patients in the video up there, so I definitely check it out.
- 34:37But, you know, I was impressed with that.
- 34:39I thought it was just the newer stuff like that.
- 34:41So and then David brought his Zagato 250 GT He had it there and I got some
- 34:47quick video of it running I'm not sure if I'll squeeze it I'm trying to
- 34:51squeeze it on the length video, but you know got some shots of that running.
- 34:54There's this beautiful black Enzo there Few f 40s got some cool shots of that.
- 35:00So I mean there's a lot of cool stuff So check out the video.
- 35:03Like I said, you know getting the hang of this so The video is probably not
- 35:08the best of my talking and what not, so I don't know how you can hear me or
- 35:10anything like that because there's music playing in the background, but, you
- 35:13know, go check it out, um, on the YouTube channel and, um, I'll try and figure it
- 35:18out if I can, I should be able to pretty easily, uh, I'll put the links on my,
- 35:21uh, the webpage, theferrarymarketplace.
- 35:23com.
- 35:24So, but anyways, that kind of wrapped up that, got stuff, because it was
- 35:28over by around 1230, 1 o'clock, rough like that, and I was supposed
- 35:31to go Over to this Porsche LA lit event that Stoddard was putting on.
- 35:36I don't know if you're not familiar with Porsche stuff, but Stoddard is
- 35:38what big, uh, seller of Porsche, classic Porsche parts is, uh, they're here in
- 35:44the Cleveland area over on the east side.
- 35:46They used to have a dealership they sold.
- 35:47So now they just focus on the parts and they do a lot of cool events.
- 35:50Now I wasn't supposed to go to that cause it was just more.
- 35:53I want to say memorabilia, literature, that kind of stuff.
- 35:55So it wasn't cars, but there probably were some there, but it was my last day
- 36:00there and it was about 78 degrees out.
- 36:01Sun was out.
- 36:02I'm like, nah, you know what?
- 36:03I'm just going to bail on that and go hang out in Santa
- 36:07Monica and see what I can see.
- 36:09So I saw some cool stuff, drive around there, you know, just hanging
- 36:12out, had some lunch, but anyways.
- 36:14To wrap this up, that's kind of going over what it is.
- 36:17Like I said, check out the video, kind of you can see what I was talking about.
- 36:20Uh, it's really worth it at the time.
- 36:22Like I said, you know, just if you need to, just ignore me, put it
- 36:24on mute and you can see the cars.
- 36:26Um, but anyways, I appreciate you guys listening.
- 36:30Uh, like I said, I'm headed to Amelia Island tomorrow.
- 36:33So I'm going to have a lot more stuff to talk about.
- 36:35The next podcast is about how Amelia Island went.
- 36:37I'm going to hit the two, uh, I got the Gooding.
- 36:39And RM Sotheby's auctions.
- 36:41I'm going to hit, there's some interesting cards there.
- 36:43They're going to be up.
- 36:44There's a 2006 five for F4 30 gated manual black on black.
- 36:52That's going to go up and they're saying in between three to four hundred grand
- 36:55what they're estimating it to be at So I'm really curious to see if that goes
- 36:58for because this is going to kind of set up the market for where these manuals
- 37:01Are headed Now so there's a bunch of other cool nice Ferraris that are going
- 37:05to be up going up So I'm going to get that stuff and we can talk about that
- 37:08where they were at Estimated what they sold for everything along those lines
- 37:12So if you want you'll take a look at Sotheby's and Gooding's sites You can
- 37:16see what I'm talking about beforehand.
- 37:18Um, so then obviously Saturday they got this really cool stuff going
- 37:21on that's, you know, 10 to go to.
- 37:23And basically all the cars that are at the concourse on
- 37:26Sunday will usually be at these.
- 37:28So, and then Sunday obviously is the concourse event itself.
- 37:30So, I have a lot of stuff from that.
- 37:32Tons of video that will be going up from that.
- 37:34Um, I'm going to try and get as much as I can, just blow it up.
- 37:37And like I said, next week I will have the next episode and
- 37:41we'll talk about Amelia Island.
- 37:42Again guys, I really, really appreciate you listening.
- 37:45I really appreciate your patience.
- 37:46And again, Hey, I'm just getting the hang of this.
- 37:48So please be patient, uh, more to come.
