Transcript
- 0:00Hello there, it's time for most things Kenobi.
- 0:05I prefer all things Kenobi but I suppose that's not the Jedi way
- 0:10as long as it's not all things Anakin.
- 0:25Hi everyone. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:27most things Kenobi. A podcast about Obi-Wan Kenobi
- 0:30and all things Star Wars. I'm your host Leanne and I'm
- 0:33your host Lauren, mmm boy. Oh boy, are we talking Kenobi
- 0:37today? In fact, we're talking Lauren
- 0:42specialty old patina. I am your resident professor of
- 0:49Ob-Gyn. Sure.
- 0:51Are you are you are the encyclopedia I walk up walk
- 0:57around with the Mortar Board and all day.
- 1:02This is true though across the top.
- 1:05Yeah, I don't know if you have been living under a rock and you
- 1:08don't know what oh between stands for it means.
- 1:11It's the, it's the what is it? The couple the couple e joined
- 1:17word of Satine. Crees and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
- 1:22Yes. Oh, but teen it's the Star Wars
- 1:25version of bennifer or that's what I was.
- 1:29I'm trying to remember except I try not to remember back to like
- 1:332004 whenever that was what was J.Lo and Ben Affleck but now
- 1:39they're up big again, so it's a car.
- 1:42Yeah, history does repeat itself in the worst of ways.
- 1:49This is kind of gonna dovetail nicely and I have something to
- 1:52tell you me. Yes, and it's related to obesity
- 1:58and sort of it's about James Arnold Taylor.
- 2:01You know our Patron. Rebecca yes.
- 2:04She was at Galaxy Khan and she met James while she was there.
- 2:11And she mentioned us to him. She did.
- 2:14Yes it was so cool. My face right now I'm looking at
- 2:20my reflection. I Jaws on the floor.
- 2:24Rebecca. Oh my God.
- 2:26I know I was just like you are so so freaking nice.
- 2:29Nice. I just respond.
- 2:32How cool that she got to meet him.
- 2:34I know the Obi-Wan voice for her.
- 2:36I yes. I think he did one of our other
- 2:41listeners been, he just met him, I think, like yesterday or the
- 2:45day before, as well. So, just why, how do I Well, I
- 2:50did stand five feet away from Matt Lantern didn't say anything
- 2:53because he's pushing a baby stroller.
- 2:55So I had my chance and I blew it freaking cowards is why we
- 2:59haven't met anybody, okay, so she said she went up to him and
- 3:05said hello and they had established a rapport and then
- 3:08she said that she was friends with the most things Kenobi
- 3:12podcast. Host which hell.
- 3:14Yes. You are dear and she said she
- 3:17loved hearing his Intros on our show and he said that it was
- 3:22super fun recording. That was very sweet.
- 3:25I hope he actually remembers he probably doesn't but he was
- 3:28being very great cause I gotta believe he does.
- 3:31Yeah I think so. That is so cool and she said it
- 3:36would be super cool if he recorded an episode with us and
- 3:39he said yes I would love to do that.
- 3:42I want to do that at some point. Please tell them I want to
- 3:46record with them. Well, I'm dead.
- 3:52It wasn't expecting any of this. Rebecca, thank you.
- 3:58James Arnold Taylor. Thank you.
- 4:01Let's make it happen. Wheeler is like even if he never
- 4:06comes on the show, just the fact that like, our fans are telling
- 4:09him about us. I know, that's so great.
- 4:13When we say we have the coolest group of fans like Fucking mean
- 4:19that shit. Yes, seriously.
- 4:22And we're so lucky this group. Damn thanks.
- 4:25Thank you. That was cool.
- 4:27Yeah. Thanks Rebecca.
- 4:29We love you. We do so I just thought that
- 4:33would be a nice way to, like segue into our opt-in episode.
- 4:37I mean, honestly we can't talk about Obe Team without giving
- 4:41props to the two voices that brought this actual story line.
- 4:46Into existence through the Clone Wars.
- 4:48Yeah, and James Arnold Taylor obviously, and Anna Graves who
- 4:53is so lovely. Yeah, has given some love to us
- 4:58on our Instagram, in our Twitter and she's just so fun and those
- 5:03to really, really work well together as voice actors.
- 5:07Yes. And they make the Oba team thing
- 5:11real. Yes, I think the fact that those
- 5:14actors have such a good Or yeah personally like in their
- 5:17personal life is that bleeds over into their performance,
- 5:20their so like comfortable with each other.
- 5:23It's very obvious that they have good chemistry.
- 5:26You know, it's great. And the best part is, is,
- 5:28doesn't she also voiced a character in a different episode
- 5:32where she kind of has a little bit of a rapport with Obi-Wan?
- 5:35Yes, it does. The episode with the little
- 5:37turtle looking people from Felicia.
- 5:40It's like they teach them how to fight.
- 5:42Yeah. And she's like a bounty hunter
- 5:44that guess she's Sookie. Yeah, the bounty hunters and
- 5:48they're kind of flirty are - so th to, it's just like if, you
- 5:52know, you know, anyway who doesn't Obi-Wan flirt with let's
- 5:56be real. If Anna Graves is voicing the
- 5:59character, he's probably gonna flirt with her.
- 6:01Yeah, he's probably. Well, they're just, they're just
- 6:03amazing together, really? Truly, what a Duo, Obi-Wan and
- 6:06Satine are a big deal in the fandom.
- 6:09Yeah, it was unexpected, big deal.
- 6:11I think at least for me, I don't know about you but I was really
- 6:15Surprised that they even gave him a love interest in his back
- 6:19story at all. Why I distinctly remember,
- 6:22watching The Ark? Where all of this happens and
- 6:26like Satine has revealed and the relationship that they had in
- 6:31the past that they had was revealed and I remember going,
- 6:34excuse me one. Yeah, Sam like it kind of
- 6:38changes. How you think of the old Ben
- 6:40Kenobi from the original trilogy?
- 6:42He's got a, he's got a past kind of Changes, everything.
- 6:46It puts everything in and like, even Ewan McGregor's performance
- 6:50has been a new like a new lens focused on it, because very
- 6:55true. It's just, I don't know.
- 6:57I really wasn't expecting it. Because the characters are like
- 7:00in Clone Wars, he was very uptight in a sense like, always
- 7:05the level-headed like yeah, like always being like, and it can
- 7:10kind of character, which, of course, he still is in these
- 7:13episodes but doesn't matter to the day he dies.
- 7:15But Glee. But in the very first intro of
- 7:21the first Mandalore Arc episode in season 2, they said that
- 7:25Obi-Wan is reunited with an old friend and then they show The
- 7:28Duchess of Mandalore. And I was like, is this going to
- 7:31be a love story? I was really not expecting it.
- 7:36It's really so. Okay.
- 7:38I let me just be honest for, like five seconds.
- 7:41Well, I'm more honest than that in every episode.
- 7:44But just I'm going to be Real real and Lauren knows this, but
- 7:48I don't know if every listener knows this, but I have never
- 7:52really been a huge fan of the character of Satine, but I am a
- 7:55fan that of Obi-Wan having a past that's a little more
- 8:00conflicting with a love interest and and he had and of course, it
- 8:04added to his loss. And of course, spoiler alert, if
- 8:07you haven't seen this part of the Clone Wars, yeah, we will be
- 8:10talking about things that happen.
- 8:12Turn away now. But yeah, you know, it It's to
- 8:16the amount of loss, that Obi-Wan experiences over and over and
- 8:19over again. Yeah, and I like all of that.
- 8:22It's just, she comes off very strong to me.
- 8:24And I was very turned off at first, like I thought she was
- 8:27very standoffish and Obi-Wan is much more warm to her.
- 8:32Hmm. And then you kind of get into it
- 8:33more and you read a little bit more, any of you kind of do a
- 8:36character study and you and I talked about, you know, the
- 8:38details of all this and I've read your Fick and it just adds
- 8:41so much more to everything and go read it.
- 8:43If you haven't the Jedi and his duchess, Well, it's really good
- 8:50and it stays true to the story. But like she was always very,
- 8:54very cold to me and I always thought Obi-Wan deserved a
- 8:57little more warmth, but it's more than that.
- 8:59Once you realize what these two have been through, right?
- 9:02I completely completely agree, I didn't like her at first and not
- 9:07because there's some to like jealous, like, oh, but one can't
- 9:10have a girlfriend. No, no, no, no, no.
- 9:12I think it's great that they gave him that I do too.
- 9:15Make some more dimensional, not that having a love interest.
- 9:18Makes you more interesting. It's more that like it was
- 9:21unexpected for that character because he didn't seem to.
- 9:23Like he seemed very set in the code, right?
- 9:27And so the thing I kind of made my own head Canon about, which
- 9:30is kind of extrapolated in this story, but is he became that way
- 9:35after what he and stettin had been through the make me, like,
- 9:38the very fact that he had like, feelings for another person.
- 9:41Hmm, and it didn't go. Well, it's maybe the reason he's
- 9:45He's like, nope, the code always the code, I can't get hurt if I
- 9:49stick to the code, which is, yeah, he likes, shut a door
- 9:51permanently because if you don't look what happens, you end up
- 9:56risking what Anakin and padmé had happened.
- 9:59Exactly. And so he's watching.
- 10:01After you see this relationship he has with Satine, you're
- 10:04watching it Through The Eyes of like, he knows what's going on
- 10:06with Anakin and padmé, right? So he can't say anything or he
- 10:10should say something, but it would make him a hypocrite.
- 10:12There's all these angles to it. That make it so much more
- 10:15difficult. Hold on how he would approach
- 10:17the subject with Anakin. Yes.
- 10:20And I love that. I love that so much.
- 10:22Yes, some people have have said that, maybe he's like, you
- 10:25remember. There's that scene in one of the
- 10:27later Clone Wars seasons where Obi-Wan goes to Anakin's room
- 10:31and says, it's not that work. We don't have these feelings
- 10:35that are natural but we're not supposed to act on them because
- 10:38it can like interfere with our duty.
- 10:42I forgot it's gonna say well you can use old what's-his-name
- 10:50Owens like like you did like you did his father or something that
- 10:54but it's like like you did with cetain.
- 10:56Like thank you. That's actually what I was gonna
- 10:59say you like my brain. Thank you.
- 11:01Your welcome is, maybe he's trying to prevent him from
- 11:05making the same mistakes that he made, you know, like protect
- 11:09him. That's one way to read it.
- 11:10I'm not saying that that's Accurate or anything.
- 11:12It's just one way to kind of like read that seat.
- 11:15I didn't really like her that much either.
- 11:17I thought she was really Brazen and kind of illogical moment.
- 11:24Yeah but she had a lot of good points.
- 11:27The hypocritical point of the Jedi, right?
- 11:31We all know that they're supposed to be peacekeepers and
- 11:35yet they're fighting in a war with a bunch of clones that were
- 11:37made specifically to kill. And the whole thing is fucked up
- 11:41Beyond. Recognition.
- 11:42Yeah, and she points it out and it's very hard for any Jedi to
- 11:46see that because they have to believe they're doing something
- 11:48good. Right or else?
- 11:50Why? Yes.
- 11:51So I like the Satine was a tool to kind of remind Obi-Wan like,
- 11:55hey it's not all rainbows and unicorns and stars and what am I
- 12:00saying? Like it's not all the Jedi
- 12:05aren't all the The Spar cleanest that you think they are, you
- 12:08know? Yeah.
- 12:09I mean she says like what an amusing contradiction.
- 12:11Action. And then asks, if changing their
- 12:14beliefs is a matter of political convenience, you know, like you
- 12:18just kind of blow in the breeze with whatever is popular.
- 12:21The moment, I do love that she points that out.
- 12:24Really, blatantly she doesn't pull her punches, just like,
- 12:27you're being a fucking hypocrite.
- 12:29Yeah. And since she knew Obi-Wan, when
- 12:32he was younger, she would have seen.
- 12:35Hmm. You are different.
- 12:37Like you have deviated from what you had originally said.
- 12:40The Jedi were all About yeah sometimes her passivism is quite
- 12:44irritating, a very but she's trying to be the best leader
- 12:49that she can for her people that she promised.
- 12:51So she's I like that. Okay, so we love strong, female
- 12:55characters on this show. If you haven't noticed and she
- 12:57is a strong intelligent, very smart Savvy woman.
- 13:02Yes, but I think there comes a risk when you're so like
- 13:08involved in this Vision that you block out everything Else.
- 13:12And I think I'm not saying just a teen, I'm saying, anyone in a
- 13:14position of like, must do Vision must succeed in personal goal
- 13:20that you block out. You have like, blinders on.
- 13:23She even says, it's much, right? Like she says a multitude makes
- 13:27Discord, which means like too many opinions creates fighting.
- 13:31I don't want too many opinions and 0.
- 13:33B 1 says like she's only interested in her own opinion.
- 13:36Like, how is that? Good leadership.
- 13:38But so there are throwing truth darts at each Are constantly.
- 13:42Yeah, which my favorite part of this whole Arc is Anakin for
- 13:48once, just a sitting back and watching the shit show and it's
- 13:52not him. Yeah.
- 13:53Right. It's not him.
- 13:55The conversation that him and Obi-Wan have like Obi-Wan's had
- 13:58it. He walks in that room first and
- 13:59Atkins trailing behind. It's usually the other way
- 14:01around. Obi-Wan is very exasperated.
- 14:04He sits down in that chair like I'm tired.
- 14:06I'm over it. I can't think anymore.
- 14:08I don't want to talk anymore. Nana can just kind of gently
- 14:11like so what The story basically.
- 14:13Yeah, I love the flip. Like I thought they did a really
- 14:16good job like, kind of turning the roles there.
- 14:19It's that, that moment where 0 b 1 says Anakin says, first Master
- 14:24Yoda says we mustn't form attachments.
- 14:27Yeah. And then, Obi-Wan does what
- 14:29aniket normally does is like, yes, of course.
- 14:32But he also leaves out the undercurrent of remorse, you
- 14:34know. Yeah.
- 14:35It's just funny, having Obi-Wan being the shoes of he who he's
- 14:40always instructing and Going after and the look, they give
- 14:45each other. And you know, when Anakin leaves
- 14:47him in the elevator. Oh my God!
- 14:48That is one of my favorite Classics, but he's like, you and
- 14:53Satine ever. Anakin like I don't have any
- 14:59bearing situation. It's the look he gives them and
- 15:03it's this is animated, it's so good.
- 15:06Look speaks volumes. It's so funny good because it's
- 15:11like Little bit angry, but then also kind of like, yeah, he's
- 15:14right shit. He can tell like like sheepish
- 15:18and angry. And don't you dare say anything
- 15:21else? Like?
- 15:21Yes, don't go there and then he says, go find your girlfriend
- 15:26and he's like, yeah. And I leave them like she's not
- 15:28like you. Yes, she is, don't lie.
- 15:32You have a son together but that's in a different episode.
- 15:36Yes, that's like one of our first couple episodes of people
- 15:39we had to cut. We had to cross that bridge
- 15:40first. But Yeah.
- 15:43Everything about it is so entertaining.
- 15:46Honestly, I just watched and like a cast reunions.
- 15:50That was actually recent. It was like a couple months ago.
- 15:52Oh, Anna Grace, to saying that's one of her favorite, the James
- 15:57and hers. They agree that it's kind of
- 15:59like their favorite episodes and she particularly likes the
- 16:02verbal sparring that they had in that.
- 16:05I totally agree, they do it. So flawlessly, it's so
- 16:09believable and it's so effortless.
- 16:11I always ask, like, I wonder how many takes it took?
- 16:14I envisioned it taking just one or two takes with those two.
- 16:17Probably. Yes.
- 16:18There's because the road delightful.
- 16:20Yeah. You know, I found some facts
- 16:24about all of this, like, who I just fix because I like coming
- 16:29in with a few like, did you know?
- 16:32Yes, please hit the ship. Well, the ship that Satine and
- 16:36Obi-Wan, and Anakin and them take to go to the Senate right
- 16:40to the Core. Hassan is called the coordinate
- 16:43for the coronavirus coordinate which I like I had a moment.
- 16:48It's celebration. Oh, you did.
- 16:50Yeah. Someone was trying to remember
- 16:52it when I was attending that podcast panel.
- 16:55Oh yeah. That ship with the and I was
- 16:57like before it. Oh yeah.
- 16:59Do you know what that means? It's a tiny Crown.
- 17:02Oh that kind of coordinate. Yes I like it which is
- 17:08interesting because she wears kind of a tiny Crown,
- 17:12symbolically, if you will of Mandalore and the history of
- 17:15Mandalore, and she is the leader of the free worlds of the
- 17:19pacifist world's, if you will. Mmm.
- 17:22So I thought that was apt. I like, laughs.
- 17:24That's very nice. I like stuff like that.
- 17:27That kind of stuff is not a mistake, especially an intro
- 17:30like this. This is always very, it's very
- 17:32premeditated. They did that on purpose.
- 17:35Yeah. And the more ironic fact is, you
- 17:39know, how we were talking in are not a kids show up.
- 17:41Episode about. There's the you know suicide
- 17:44that take yes, yes, the political suicide episode.
- 17:48What does that are episode 2? Yeah, not a kids show.
- 17:51Clone Wars is not a kid. Joey to get that off your chest
- 17:54real fast. Yeah.
- 17:55Do you know what the name of that Park is called?
- 17:57I don't peace Park. Also not a mistake.
- 18:03I'm guessing. Yeah, that's a no.
- 18:05A little ironic anyway. It's not political suicide Park.
- 18:11Became political suicide Park. Yes.
- 18:14I just like when names means something, even if it's ironic
- 18:18in case of the peace Park, I like that too.
- 18:22And Star Wars is classic for doing that, kind of stuff.
- 18:26Hmm. So it was the that it well, I
- 18:29guess I don't know if the shrine is in peace Park, but it's all
- 18:32about the Civil War, the Mandalorian Civil War, which is
- 18:35like you said, is where Obi-Wan and City and met.
- 18:38Hmm, But in Canon, we don't really know that.
- 18:41Much about it. They have not talked about what
- 18:46the extent of their background really is.
- 18:49Well, we can surmise that something romantic happened
- 18:53based on how just in deep they are because we wouldn't know
- 18:59this. If we don't get to the point
- 19:01where Satine has literally being taken off the ship, she thinks
- 19:05she's going to die and she tells Obi-Wan she loves him.
- 19:08Okay. That doesn't just come out of
- 19:10nowhere and he's Completely unfazed by because his
- 19:13responses, I would have left the Jedi Order.
- 19:16Had you said the word, okay, so there's like a thing there, you
- 19:19know, this is not just some flippant, you know, we used to
- 19:22know each other and had a crush or something.
- 19:24This is this runs way deeper way deeper.
- 19:27Yeah. Because by the time he and
- 19:29Satine met they would have been I think they were in the early
- 19:3220s. Hmm.
- 19:33So that's pretty established in the Jedi long enough for him to
- 19:37have like for that to be a big deal for him to decide.
- 19:40Well I would leave. If she asked me to hmm that's a
- 19:44precarious age to yes very much. So you're old enough to know
- 19:49you're kind of old enough to know.
- 19:50Like okay so being a Jedi is essentially his job, right?
- 19:53He knows the ins and outs of it but he's also young enough to be
- 19:57able to fall in love and give his heart to someone and have
- 20:01like that that youthful. I'm in love you know.
- 20:04And and to then still choose the Jedi or what?
- 20:08See, we don't know what happened, right?
- 20:10We don't know if that was Case we don't know.
- 20:13Was it forced? Was it chosen, did he shut that
- 20:16wall? Like we said, I mean he had to,
- 20:18but what was the Catalyst to that?
- 20:20That's all the stuff that makes your fanfic.
- 20:22Great. Well, I do like, I get confused
- 20:29sometimes now where I'm just like, did I write that or was
- 20:32that actually? It's not funny.
- 20:34It's really like I do that with the stories that I've written.
- 20:38I can't remember if I made it up or if I researched it, It to
- 20:42write it or if it's actual, can it like?
- 20:44Yes, exactly. So we don't, we don't know
- 20:48anything. Canon wise of their actual past,
- 20:52we know they had a connection. We're not even sure.
- 20:55How deep that connection was, how serious that everything is
- 20:58surmised. Like everything we can talk
- 21:01about. That's not in actual Clone Wars
- 21:04Episodes. It's all just a guess.
- 21:06Hmm. Some people have asked, do you
- 21:09think they continued either one? Having a relationship during the
- 21:13Clone Wars or two at least having an act of friendship
- 21:18where they started talking again.
- 21:19No to both. You don't think so.
- 21:22No, I don't think they had an active relationship.
- 21:28I do think they talked though because there was a line.
- 21:30I don't remember what the episode is called, but it's the
- 21:32one where Padme goes to Mandalore and yes, yes, she and
- 21:37stettin are like detectives. I don't know the Girl, friends,
- 21:42get together for some rows. A and some political talk and
- 21:46end up solving a crime. Yes.
- 21:48All in a weekends were like a frightening sexy uncovering a
- 21:53major corruption scheme. No big deal but Satine says to
- 21:59pad me master Kenobi told me you're very adventurous.
- 22:04Oh yeah I guess so they would have to like be talking about
- 22:06Anakin and Padme right? Like what was good how did that
- 22:11come about? Think I'm Prestige.
- 22:12That's a really good point. I didn't consider the only non
- 22:16romantic explanation. I can come up with is, maybe he
- 22:20was explaining where Anakin came from and that was also when you
- 22:24met Padme at the same time so maybe that was the explanation.
- 22:28But I like to think that they're just calming each other in the
- 22:31middle of the night. Hiding under their blankets be
- 22:33like Ah that's actually kind of cute.
- 22:38I don't see that happening but I I don't really see the Would I
- 22:44just think oh, we want just shut, the Chastity gate on that
- 22:48one. Just wait, yeah, once he got a
- 22:53tasty had to get out of there because it was it was dunzo
- 22:56after that. So, danger ditch your chest up
- 23:04to. You is in danger, I think is
- 23:08Chastity. Was taken by her, that's my
- 23:10thing but I You too. I think that proves how much he
- 23:15really loved her, and he had if he was going to be a Jedi, he
- 23:17had to shut it off. And she remained respectful of
- 23:24that. But also, I'm not speaking for
- 23:26all women, but I would be a little bitter.
- 23:29Oh, I would be bitter. Well, depending on the
- 23:32circumstances, right? But we don't know.
- 23:35Yeah, we need more. If he actively chose the Jedi
- 23:40over her. Correct bitter.
- 23:44Yeah and all of her anger and Sass and like edginess towards
- 23:48him makes perfect sense. Yeah, we always talk about how
- 23:53respect, how much we respect Obi-Wan for just his
- 23:57perseverance through all of this, right?
- 23:59So he found love and carried on anyways, and then was faced with
- 24:04her possibly dying and and then actually dying and still
- 24:10carrying on All of this, I think Satine will always respect him
- 24:16even at the loss of not being able to be with them there to
- 24:21individuals who are very strongly involved in what they
- 24:25believe in. Yes.
- 24:26Yeah, you know and it's it takes more than love, it takes timing
- 24:30and and Circumstance and all these things to make it work and
- 24:34so you can still have a love for someone and still be, you know,
- 24:37obligated to something completely external and and it
- 24:40can't work. Yes, I 100% agree with that and
- 24:44I think that that's why romantic comedies do a disservice to
- 24:48people because they kind of give you this idea that love is no,
- 24:51you can just walk away from it all and yeah, you need is love.
- 24:55All you need is love. All right.
- 25:00Speaking of Yuan and a Satine. Oh my God.
- 25:06Just kill me. Now it sounds like a painful
- 25:09because everyone out there knows right.
- 25:11That's it. In the name of Satine, kryze was
- 25:13taken from stettin in Moulin Rouge in which Ewan McGregor
- 25:16plays. The love interest and loses her
- 25:19instead official, yeah, it was on the Wikipedia page.
- 25:22Oh, very nice. I've always wondered.
- 25:23If that was like a real, like official thing and I like, I
- 25:27mean, as long as it's on Wikipedia.
- 25:29So I take Wikipedia as a Star Wars Bible.
- 25:31So there we go. You got it.
- 25:33You got it. So anyway, what were we talking
- 25:38about? I have no idea.
- 25:39I started singing so I don't end it.
- 25:41I love it. Oh yeah.
- 25:44Oh yeah. Comms, yes, like and that's why
- 25:49I love Obi-Wan and Satine because Anakin and padmé are the
- 25:53Romantic there. The Romeo and Juliet.
- 25:55I know a lot of people say that it's Obi-Wan and instituted.
- 25:58A, I don't think that as a person who studied Shakespeare
- 26:02and all that shit. I would say, it's Anakin and
- 26:05padmé are Romeo and Juliet, very tragic literal star-crossed
- 26:10lovers. Yeah, Forbidden Love.
- 26:13Yeah, Obi-Wan and stettin are different because they love each
- 26:17other James Arnold Taylor, confirmed that he believes ob1
- 26:21loves seeing no questions. Oh yeah, but they chose Duty.
- 26:25Yes and that didn't hurt them. They understood that about each
- 26:30other. Hmm.
- 26:31The tragedy comes from their strengths being used against
- 26:35them to try to destroy each other and it's great
- 26:39storytelling. It is Grace.
- 26:41Retailing. And the beauty of it is, no, we
- 26:44don't have all the details, but look at how impactful this oh
- 26:49between thing has become. Because it leaves so many more
- 26:53doors open for us. The fans to add to the story or
- 26:58surmise or headcanon, or do whatever we want to do, right?
- 27:01Great stories and put them on a 03.
- 27:03You know, I'm gonna keep doing it, would still thank you.
- 27:10We have like, Like a through d as facts and everything else in
- 27:15between that we discussed that make it so much.
- 27:17Greater and even James Arnold Taylor is sitting there saying
- 27:20like I believe that this character that I voice.
- 27:23Yeah, loved her. It's like, I think it's so cool
- 27:27because I think that's why it keeps people engaged as well
- 27:30because we don't have all the answers if we did it would be
- 27:33fun but it keeps people talking how many fucking years later we
- 27:37still talking about this and this came out, you know, and
- 27:39everyone wanted it in the in the We Wan Kenobi show.
- 27:42We didn't get it, we talked about this, but like yes, just
- 27:45some kind of Nod to like the loss that Obi-Wan experienced.
- 27:50Yeah, because the live-action, she's never acknowledged or
- 27:53Ahsoka. I mean, yes.
- 27:55All kinds of things that aren't no.
- 27:56Cody, there's a lot. Yeah, there was a lot of
- 27:59missing. I'm very happy with what we got,
- 28:02but we did get a lot of feedback when we asked like what do
- 28:04people wish they had gotten in the cannoli?
- 28:06Yeah. So I got a lot of interesting
- 28:09and a lot of the same like people really Really, really
- 28:12wanted, like I said, top three of us Ahsoka Satine and Cody.
- 28:16Well yeah, and that makes sense. They were all heavily involved
- 28:19in Obi-Wan's life in some phase that impacted him.
- 28:24Yeah, I really do. Wish they had had a moment where
- 28:27Satine said something about Qui-Gon in the Clone Wars.
- 28:30Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:31Because do we know for sure. We assume probably rightfully.
- 28:35So, that Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon went to Mandalore for the
- 28:39Mandalorian Civil War went, Obi-Wan met Team.
- 28:42Right? I mean the only reference is the
- 28:45when he's getting on the elevator telling Anakin about
- 28:47it. He said an extended mission to
- 28:49Mandalore Master Qui-Gon and I had an extended me.
- 28:52Yes. Mandalore, so I guess.
- 28:54Yes. That's like the only real
- 28:55confirmation that Qui-Gon was there but I assumed he was there
- 29:00and, you know, Satine would be as respectful towards Qui-Gon
- 29:03and his help and his influence in her safety, during the Civil
- 29:06War. Yeah, she would ask, she would
- 29:08inquire and she'd be heartbroken spending a A year under those
- 29:12circumstances? Would you assume that she would
- 29:14have felt? Even if he couldn't be attached
- 29:16to her, she was attached to him. There's a lot of good stuff with
- 29:19those two that we don't know that.
- 29:21I just love thinking about, I know, I still like, even like
- 29:25writing the Fick. I even then I still play with
- 29:28like, alternate scenarios of I liked what I wrote but I also
- 29:31like, could have written it, a whole bunch of other ways
- 29:33because it just there's no exact answer to any of it.
- 29:38It's so sad. Oh between God, dammit Star
- 29:42Wars. Again rat bastards.
- 29:48Well, okay, so we have to talk about the Lawless which we did
- 29:51talk about a bit in our crying episode.
- 29:54Yes. What would you like to talk
- 29:56about? Like we said, I hate that like I
- 30:00love it but I hate it, hate it and love it.
- 30:02And part of it is part of it is watching, like everything Satine
- 30:07has been working for her entire life.
- 30:09Oh, it's just awful torn down as Revenge towards Obi-Wan.
- 30:14Like, it didn't even have anything to do with her her
- 30:16life. Work just flush down the toilet
- 30:19because Mall wanted to hurt Obi one.
- 30:22That is so tragic to me. It's the height of like
- 30:26psychopathy. Like it's just too to wield that
- 30:34kind of pain and take some sort of pleasure in it.
- 30:38We're talking about someone's life work, just and you're okay.
- 30:42So as Satine, I'm going to get kind of painful here.
- 30:45You're in, you're dying moments and You realize it was all for
- 30:48nothing and you lose the person you love and it's all to hurt
- 30:53him and you don't see what ends up happening because you died
- 30:57that is some hard shit and they put it in a kids show up here
- 31:05for it. Because this is the, that is
- 31:08some like, I love it because it's very dark.
- 31:12And I hate it because it's Cannon.
- 31:14It's like real, it happened, you know what I mean?
- 31:17Yes. Yes, same same and then I'll be
- 31:23one side, you watch your loves work, go down the drain
- 31:27everything just blows up in your face as a joke to the man you
- 31:31thought you killed already who killed your master at the whole
- 31:35thing is fucking painful. Yeah and mall is just the puppet
- 31:40wielder laughing at it. It's terrible and I hate Mall.
- 31:43Yes, the very fact that OB wouldn't shows him Mercy and
- 31:47compassion on his deathbed is really telling about the kind of
- 31:51man. Open one is when you put it in
- 31:53this perspective, what you just said the growth you would have
- 31:57to go through because they all say that forgiveness is for the
- 32:01person, not who it's directed at.
- 32:03Yes, mmm. And so, Obi-Wan would have to
- 32:06process that, that would be very hard.
- 32:08It would because how, how could you not feel even like a mood
- 32:12come of responsibility for everything like, he knew from
- 32:16the beginning? What's the teen went through?
- 32:18Her father, was assassinated her whole planet at War.
- 32:23She had to rebuild it against, like, opposition against the
- 32:27opposition, who hated her idea of pacifism, and she still tried
- 32:31to make a better life for everybody.
- 32:33Really wanting everyone to have the chance to live in peace.
- 32:37And like you said, as a joke, throw that away, how does that
- 32:41not affect ob1? Like he would feel so guilty.
- 32:45I would feel guilty. Even though Ops Solutely you
- 32:47would know. It's not really your fault but
- 32:49still he's a compassionate person.
- 32:51It's so fucking dark. And like you said, I love it and
- 32:55I hate it so much. Well I mean it's the kind of
- 32:58dark that makes it impactful and makes it.
- 33:01You love a character because he would feel regret over what
- 33:05happened to Qui-Gon and he couldn't stop it.
- 33:07He would have regret over what happened to Satine and he
- 33:10watched it and couldn't stop it. He would have regret over what
- 33:13fucking happened with Anakin and he couldn't stop it.
- 33:15Like how many times? Just forever and ever.
- 33:20Yeah, it's just, it's really. He's a, he's just a really great
- 33:24character and I I know I said, I never liked satine's character,
- 33:29but I respect the hell out of her.
- 33:31Yeah, I really do. I respect anyone who fights for
- 33:36peace, or stands by their own principles without bending in
- 33:40the wind. You know how often does that
- 33:44fucking happens? Never, I think it's Easy to get
- 33:47frustrated with her because she's so stubborn.
- 33:51But if more people had her conviction, yes.
- 33:53Maybe the world would be a better place.
- 33:56That's what I'm saying. Like, maybe it doesn't come off
- 33:59in the way that is the most pleasant.
- 34:01But what reason does she have? She's fighting for something so.
- 34:05Yeah, and she's bitter because she lost her man, and with a man
- 34:07like that with hair like that, I would be, I would be a little
- 34:10angry too. If he extended his hand, I'd
- 34:13slap it out of my, how to here, with your hand, your hair.
- 34:16And that's And those eyes? Yes.
- 34:20Walking in here. Looking like that.
- 34:22Isn't there a Dolly? Parton song?
- 34:23Why'd You Come In Here? Looking good.
- 34:26Okay, I guess idea of Jolly Parton song with We gotta love
- 34:33that so much. Alright, our question to our
- 34:45beloved listeners and fans did you first likes the team when
- 34:48she stepped on the scene? I don't know why I'm in such a
- 34:56song like mood tonight. So, next week, our patrons have

- 35:19I know I'm really excited. I am too.
- 35:21I'm just sad. They pushed it back, but me too,
- 35:23but hopefully come to those who wait, yes.
- 35:26I was gives the hopefully it's to make it better.
- 35:28Yes, three episodes coming out all at.
- 35:30Once it's gonna be, I don't know what they're doing.
- 35:32I can't handle this shit, I've got Lord of the Rings.
- 35:36I've got House of dragons, and now I've got and or well, I
- 35:41don't have time to breathe like a very busy woman, things to do
- 35:46folks and none of them involves leaving my couch.
- 35:51I'm okay with it. I am?
- 35:52I swear. Yeah, but your feet up in last
- 35:55week's episode. We discussed a Star Wars fan.
- 35:58Favorite droids. And we asked our listeners, who,
- 36:01or what was their favorite Droid our friend?
- 36:04Ben over on Instagram, said, Echo disguised as a Droid in the
- 36:09bad batch on Pantera which I had totally forgotten about.
- 36:14And I think is absolutely brilliant.
- 36:17That moment always makes me laugh whenever I re-watched Bad
- 36:20batch. Then also says, but I always
- 36:22liked ap5 in Rebels with his banter with the other
- 36:26characters. Both excellent choices.
