- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Don't tell mom.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hello, welcome to No Dribble. We have not blown away
- 0:25Speaker 2: down here. We're here, Cath and I I'm Carolyn.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Hi, I'm Kath. Yeah, I'm still.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Here and in exciting news like everyone's got pretty bad
- 0:33Speaker 2: things to say about ex tropical cyclone Alfred, and quite rightly,
- 0:37Speaker 2: but there is one good thing. It means Lizellus's meetings
- 0:39Speaker 2: in Brisbane were canceled, so we get to have her today.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Hello, I'm sitting in the very wet part of the
- 0:48Speaker 5: world at the moment. There's no wind, but there's man,
- 0:51Speaker 5: there's a lot of rain.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Now, you missed the bulk of this because you were
- 0:54Speaker 1: in Sydney for work and you were meant to fly,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but you ended up driving down so you stayed a
- 0:59Speaker 1: few days extra.
- 1:00Speaker 4: But what was going on up there?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Because Matthew was without power for a long time, wasn't
- 1:04Speaker 1: he he was?
- 1:06Speaker 5: So on Wednesday I had a job on Thursday and
- 1:09Speaker 5: my client had very kindly offered to pay for an
- 1:13Speaker 5: apartment for me and the kids for a few days,
- 1:15Speaker 5: and when we wake up on Wednesday, all the schools
- 1:18Speaker 5: were closed. So they canceled school on Wednesday for the
- 1:21Speaker 5: rest of the week because of the cyclone. So I
- 1:24Speaker 5: went and wake the kids up and said, right, pack
- 1:26Speaker 5: your bags, right a road trip.
- 1:28Speaker 6: This was as a kid, Can we cancel school please?
- 1:33Speaker 5: Yeah, school was canceled and this cyclone hit that we
- 1:36Speaker 5: would have no power because we live in a rural
- 1:39Speaker 5: area and as soon as there's when the trees go
- 1:42Speaker 5: into the power lines, we'd have no power. So when
- 1:44Speaker 5: we've had East Coast lows before, which are very similar
- 1:47Speaker 5: to this current weather event, we just lose power for days,
- 1:50Speaker 5: which is just horrible when you've got two kids in
- 1:53Speaker 5: the house, one of whom particularly likes to run around
- 1:55Speaker 5: a lot, and there's no way to keep him amuse.
- 1:57Speaker 5: So I was like, right, get in the car and
- 1:59Speaker 5: thanks fully, because of the thirty five thousand kilometers we
- 2:02Speaker 5: drove in twenty twenty two with the caravan on the back,
- 2:04Speaker 5: my kids are capable of just sitting in the car
- 2:06Speaker 5: for hours at a time. So we drove to Sydney,
- 2:09Speaker 5: went and got our haircut.
- 2:11Speaker 4: And we had a fabulous.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Why thank you, But you can't see because I don't
- 2:16Speaker 5: have enough internet bandwidth at the moment here because of
- 2:19Speaker 5: the weather to turn my camera on. And so we
- 2:22Speaker 5: just had a couple of days in Sydney. We went
- 2:25Speaker 5: to the art gallery, and we went to the aquarium,
- 2:29Speaker 5: and we went to the Swanies with Coxie and we
- 2:32Speaker 5: had a heap of fun. And then on Saturday morning,
- 2:35Speaker 5: I woke up and the cyclone was supposed to hit
- 2:38Speaker 5: on Saturday, but it had moved significantly north and all
- 2:43Speaker 5: the forecast was heavy rain. But when I looked at
- 2:45Speaker 5: the radar, it just looked like there was a little gap.
- 2:47Speaker 5: And I said to the kids, right, let's get in
- 2:49Speaker 5: the car and go, and if we feel like there's
- 2:54Speaker 5: it's too dicey, we'll just pull up. We've got rallies
- 2:57Speaker 5: in Coffs Harbor, we got rellies on the central coast.
- 2:58Speaker 5: So I had plot all these bail out points along
- 3:01Speaker 5: the road, but we just got so lucky. We drove
- 3:04Speaker 5: all the way home on Saturday, and we drove through
- 3:07Speaker 5: a few showers and the only time it got dicey
- 3:10Speaker 5: was when I turned off the highway to come the
- 3:12Speaker 5: ten kilometers into our place, and it was just a
- 3:15Speaker 5: bit windy, and there was some trees down that had
- 3:17Speaker 5: been moved by the sees. But we got home. So
- 3:20Speaker 5: you know, my philosophy is very much in the camp
- 3:23Speaker 5: of if it's flooded, forget it. If it's too wet,
- 3:25Speaker 5: forget and if it's too windy, forget it. So I
- 3:27Speaker 5: had bail at points, but we got home. But now
- 3:30Speaker 5: it was like we got home and the heavens and
- 3:31Speaker 5: waded and as soon as we got home it just
- 3:33Speaker 5: bucketed down. And it's bucketed down now for the last
- 3:36Speaker 5: sort of thirty six hours.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You are are we need to put this on your
- 3:40Speaker 1: list of jobs to do, so, Governor General. And then
- 3:43Speaker 1: when you're done with that, meteorologist, because here's you.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Looking at the bomb. Oh there's a little gap there.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Low.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I know when she got in the car to Lever
- 3:52Speaker 1: thought there's no way, there's no way in the world
- 3:54Speaker 1: she's getting home if she's not driving intrrential rain.
- 3:57Speaker 4: And then I kept texting you because.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I thought, sure, you'll get home if you do get
- 4:02Speaker 1: that far, and you'll get to the bottom of your
- 4:04Speaker 1: driveway and realize you can't get to the house because
- 4:07Speaker 1: it's flooded in. So I've absolutely gob smacked you made it.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I was going to say, Matthew would have rigged up
- 4:12Speaker 2: some reverse flying fox to get you home, because he's.
- 4:15Speaker 6: Very handy, isn't he.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So he was at home with no power all this time,
- 4:19Speaker 2: and you guys are spawning around in Sydney.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, but don't feel sorry. Sorry. I had peace,
- 4:24Speaker 5: he had quiet, and our cyclone shelter is our cellar. Yo.
- 4:28Speaker 5: He's a little dent in that, so he was fine. Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 5: So but do you know why I can. I know
- 4:35Speaker 5: how to read like the bomb and to look at
- 4:38Speaker 5: all the rain radar and everything. It's from doing bloody
- 4:41Speaker 5: netball clinics all those years. And you go, oh my god,
- 4:46Speaker 5: if I don't cancel it now, I'm going to have
- 4:48Speaker 5: three hundred parents yelling at me because I got their
- 4:50Speaker 5: kids wet. But if I do cancel it now, I'm
- 4:52Speaker 5: going to have one hundred and eighty parents yelling at
- 4:53Speaker 5: me because they've got to go to work and what
- 4:55Speaker 5: are they going to do with their kids? So I mean,
- 4:57Speaker 5: choosing to drive home with my kids is not stressful
- 5:00Speaker 5: compared to running netfish.
- 5:03Speaker 4: My god, no wonder that a shelf life.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Hey, yeah I did, but I got to say it.
- 5:09Speaker 5: We met like I wouldn't. This is true, This is true,
- 5:13Speaker 5: but I'm going to say I wouldn't. Like I didn't
- 5:15Speaker 5: take the responsibility of driving home on Saturday lightly, and
- 5:19Speaker 5: I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have a
- 5:21Speaker 5: bailout point to stay at every hour. It rang a
- 5:24Speaker 5: heap of relatives all the way along the highway and
- 5:26Speaker 5: said if it gets hairy, we're stopping for a night
- 5:29Speaker 5: or two. And they're all yet, oh fine about that.
- 5:31Speaker 5: So we just had a plan. And as it turned out,
- 5:34Speaker 5: we got home and the water had been right up
- 5:37Speaker 5: over our driveway and we've got I've got a bit
- 5:38Speaker 5: of damage. We've lost a chicken, just one.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Sure that's the only casualty. Well, they're only twenty nine dollars.
- 5:48Speaker 6: We now know this.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Well that was cheap. But we've also lost a pecan tree,
- 5:53Speaker 5: which might not seem like march, but it fell across
- 5:56Speaker 5: Matthew's his pride and joy, which are his cattle yards,
- 5:59Speaker 5: which he built by hand from recycling materials over about
- 6:02Speaker 5: three years, and it's just smashed about a quarter of them.
- 6:05Speaker 5: So he and I drove down there yesterday and he
- 6:08Speaker 5: was nearly crying, and we have to keep reminding ourselves
- 6:10Speaker 5: that we are really fortunate, Like, yes, we don't have
- 6:13Speaker 5: anything else down. We've got friends who trees have fallen
- 6:17Speaker 5: down and you know, hit sheds and clipped houses, and
- 6:21Speaker 5: I know in Brisbane that there's been significant damage. So
- 6:24Speaker 5: we just keep saying that we're really fortunate. If the
- 6:26Speaker 5: worst that happens is that we've lost a couple of
- 6:28Speaker 5: fences in the carter yards, we're okay.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah, my mum and dad lost power for three days,
- 6:33Speaker 1: like they lost it really really early. They only got
- 6:36Speaker 1: it back at three point thirty this morning, and we've
- 6:39Speaker 1: had no contact with them at all, but they've had
- 6:41Speaker 1: no phone service either, and it's been really scary, not
- 6:44Speaker 1: knowing how they're going on, what's going on. And I
- 6:46Speaker 1: spoke to them this morning finally, and I'm like, was
- 6:48Speaker 1: that the toughest three days ever? Dad's like, yeah, we
- 6:51Speaker 1: have been eating cold stuff out of the fridge because
- 6:54Speaker 1: they've had no way of heating anything up. And the
- 6:56Speaker 1: first thing you did this morning was making cup of
- 6:58Speaker 1: tea something that was hot. But otherwise they've been fine.
- 7:01Speaker 1: They're just going to bed. They said it was a
- 7:02Speaker 1: bit scary because they had no way of knowing what
- 7:04Speaker 1: was going on because a television, radio or yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 4: But aside from that, it was quite quite weird, though,
- 7:11Speaker 4: was it? So Today's Monday?
- 7:12Speaker 2: We record on a Monday And for days and days
- 7:15Speaker 2: everybody up there was just on teinerhooks that it's like,
- 7:18Speaker 2: when is this coming. I did see something very funny
- 7:20Speaker 2: on Instagram and it was a photo of a guy
- 7:23Speaker 2: with showing blue sky and he's in Brisbane and he
- 7:26Speaker 2: said Alfred coming in like the Sydney Swan's at the
- 7:29Speaker 2: Grand Final and then his zoom's out and he's got
- 7:31Speaker 2: a Brisbane lines jersey on.
- 7:35Speaker 4: People don't wait long to get the memes out do though.
- 7:38Speaker 1: The funniest one I saw was all around men basically,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and it said, honestly, a female cyclone would have had
- 7:44Speaker 1: this done and dusted by now. This guy has stopped
- 7:47Speaker 1: at the pub, gone fishing and told his family he'll
- 7:49Speaker 1: do it tomorrow.
- 7:52Speaker 5: That is so true and that's been the hardest part, right.
- 7:55Speaker 5: So I have to say that in the twenty twenty
- 7:58Speaker 5: two floods, it rained for days and it was like
- 8:02Speaker 5: no one really cared, whereas in need because everyone's learnt
- 8:06Speaker 5: their lessons. So you know, as we headed south on Wednesday,
- 8:10Speaker 5: we saw the Army driving north, we saw the Sees
- 8:13Speaker 5: driving north. The Prime Minister was in Brisbane, Premier was
- 8:16Speaker 5: in Lismore, and so we had all of this fantastic
- 8:19Speaker 5: prep and then it hasn't eventuated to be as bad.
- 8:23Speaker 5: And I did see someone winging about it and I
- 8:25Speaker 5: thought absolutely not, Like, I'm so grateful that all this
- 8:29Speaker 5: effort was putting in to prepare, Like the Army. The
- 8:33Speaker 5: people who drove up from the Sees had to leave
- 8:35Speaker 5: their families and you be up here over a wet weekend,
- 8:39Speaker 5: not knowing what sort of danger they were going to face.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And there was a terrible accident with a couple of
- 8:42Speaker 5: army trucks just outside of Lismore. So I'm actually really
- 8:46Speaker 5: grateful that the prep wasn't there, And I would so
- 8:50Speaker 5: much rather this situation where everyone was prepped and the
- 8:55Speaker 5: damage wasn't as bad. Yeah as first thought, then in
- 8:59Speaker 5: twenty twenty two when no one was prepped and the
- 9:01Speaker 5: damage was horrific. So I am really grateful. I'm grateful
- 9:04Speaker 5: to little call out to the Sees, to the Army
- 9:07Speaker 5: for being on standby and actually to Essential Energy who
- 9:10Speaker 5: have just when you saw the map. I saw the
- 9:12Speaker 5: map on Friday morning of just the outages that were
- 9:15Speaker 5: just everywhere, and so much of them has been clear.
- 9:18Speaker 5: And when I was driving home, you could see that
- 9:20Speaker 5: was like trees chopped up to get them off power lines.
- 9:24Speaker 5: And so it's just been a mammoth effort by all
- 9:27Speaker 5: the different agencies to make sure that we didn't see
- 9:29Speaker 5: a repeat of twenty twenty two.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And they knew you were going home too, right because
- 9:33Speaker 1: the power came on moments before you called in the driveway.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I rang Matthew and I said, I mean, coughs.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Do you want me to get anything and bring it home?
- 9:41Speaker 5: And he said, just electricity. And as we came home
- 9:44Speaker 5: in the electricity case, I actually I was trying to
- 9:48Speaker 5: grace out my daughter. And he said, oh, if you
- 9:51Speaker 5: just bring electricity, and I said, oh, babe, we can
- 9:53Speaker 5: make that when we get high. And she was just
- 9:58Speaker 5: like it was like she couldn't scratch her ears off
- 10:01Speaker 5: quick enough. She just wanted to scratch hery is off
- 10:03Speaker 5: and put her fingers in her brain and clean out
- 10:05Speaker 5: that little memory of what I just said. She was
- 10:07Speaker 5: just so grossed out.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Hey Li's question without notice.
- 10:14Speaker 2: We've already talked about you being the future Governor General,
- 10:16Speaker 2: but you met the current Governor General last week while
- 10:20Speaker 2: you were down here.
- 10:21Speaker 6: You had some big news we did, so.
- 10:23Speaker 5: The Governor General Sam Mustin has agreed to be the
- 10:25Speaker 5: patron of Netball Australia. So exciting and so we got
- 10:30Speaker 5: to go. Yeah, it's so cool. We got to go
- 10:32Speaker 5: and meet her. And at Government House a couple of
- 10:34Speaker 5: weeks ago there was Stacy West who's our CEO, and
- 10:37Speaker 5: myself and we gave her. I don't know if you
- 10:40Speaker 5: saw it on socials there was a beautiful framed diamonds
- 10:43Speaker 5: dress and the patch said GG Sam not it. So
- 10:47Speaker 5: that's the Governor General position. So look to have someone
- 10:51Speaker 5: like the Governor General be a patron of our sport.
- 10:55Speaker 5: It's just so important from a recognition point of view,
- 10:59Speaker 5: shows great confidence in the sport and where we're heading.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Sam Mustin is just an amazing human being. And I
- 11:05Speaker 5: thought we were just going to Government House to have
- 11:06Speaker 5: a nice cup of tea, but we ended up having
- 11:09Speaker 5: got on the terms with the GG. Oh God, I wish.
- 11:14Speaker 4: You got to have the GT with.
- 11:17Speaker 5: With the GG. Yes, and I don't know if you
- 11:19Speaker 5: noticed her suit, it was very on point. It was
- 11:21Speaker 5: that beautiful green. So but she's just like we sat
- 11:25Speaker 5: and had a full strategy session. She's just amazing, Like, yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 5: she wanted to know how the sport was tracking and
- 11:31Speaker 5: what we're doing and what we're up to, and yeah, she's.
- 11:34Speaker 6: Just she's got a very good business brain.
- 11:37Speaker 5: She does super bright, super genuine, really invested in the
- 11:41Speaker 5: sport And yeah, I think it's just such a massive
- 11:45Speaker 5: win for us that she was prepared to become the patron.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Yeah, well done, all right, well done, Liz Ellison.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yes, you know what's funny, Liz, So our listeners can't
- 11:56Speaker 2: see this, but each week we look at the TV
- 11:58Speaker 2: because you're on screen and we're having a three way conversation.
- 12:01Speaker 2: You're on we can't see you because you've got unstable
- 12:04Speaker 2: internet thanks to ex tropical cyclone Alfred. But Cath and
- 12:07Speaker 2: I are still looking at the screen as though we
- 12:09Speaker 2: can see where we're sitting side by side and not
- 12:11Speaker 2: looking at one another, and it's like all we've got
- 12:14Speaker 2: is this little bit where your when your volume goes
- 12:16Speaker 2: up and down when you're speaking.
- 12:17Speaker 6: We're looking at that as though it's you. It's like
- 12:19Speaker 6: we're just like train chimps.
- 12:21Speaker 1: It just reminds me of all the years I used
- 12:23Speaker 1: to room with her and chat in the middle of
- 12:25Speaker 1: the night darkness, Vogund, that's comforting.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm going to try to look at you.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Well I'm over there.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Yeah, oh, I know.
- 12:34Speaker 5: That's the thing.
- 12:34Speaker 6: I could look at you on the television, but I
- 12:37Speaker 6: could actually look at you in real life. Irl.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Can you tell us?
- 12:41Speaker 6: Can you tell us about your weekend?
- 12:44Speaker 4: I had a great weekend.
- 12:45Speaker 1: So aside from catching up with Miss Elizabeth and the
- 12:48Speaker 1: children at the footy, My kids did not watch. I
- 12:50Speaker 1: took Harper and a friend of hers. They watched maybe
- 12:53Speaker 1: thirty seconds of the game because there were games, there
- 12:57Speaker 1: was a reaction machine, there was a face pain lady,
- 13:00Speaker 1: it was dessert bars the work, So they didn't watch it.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Your kids, though, they sat there and watched every second
- 13:07Speaker 1: of the game. They're so into it, Liz, they are.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Yeah, they loved it. Although by the by three quart
- 13:14Speaker 5: a time when he realized that the Swans might not win,
- 13:17Speaker 5: Austin was out, but everyone sat and watched the whole lot. Yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 5: they're just sports mad.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Yeah, so good.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Anyway, So We did that, and then we spoke about
- 13:25Speaker 1: last week. I was doing a stay ca with Harper
- 13:28Speaker 1: on Saturday night in the city, which was great, so
- 13:30Speaker 1: we went in. We had young Charlies was going to
- 13:32Speaker 1: meet us, but instead she jumped in the car and
- 13:34Speaker 1: drove home more dumplings for us.
- 13:37Speaker 4: When did a beer shopping? When did him export myself
- 13:39Speaker 4: a book? Saw that halfway through it? Can it down? Yeah,
- 13:44Speaker 4: it's great.
- 13:44Speaker 3: That was Wow.
- 13:45Speaker 4: It's a tough read though, Geez, that story is not great.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Did any of the.
- 13:49Speaker 6: Dribblers have any feedback for you on your new fan
- 13:53Speaker 6: desire to start reading IoT.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I'm going to mention everybody's been very supportive. Yeah, and
- 14:02Speaker 1: given me a lot of great books that I should
- 14:05Speaker 1: go to. We won't talk about that. One person that
- 14:08Speaker 1: said I might have been a slow reader, a slow learner,
- 14:11Speaker 1: slow reader?
- 14:12Speaker 4: What was the wording be the way? I felt like
- 14:14Speaker 4: it was a smack on the chop.
- 14:15Speaker 2: No, it was encouragement for your choice of reading materials.
- 14:19Speaker 2: So this is obviously someone who's been in the education
- 14:21Speaker 2: system a long time, and for the slower readers, they
- 14:24Speaker 2: would recommend find a book about something that you are
- 14:27Speaker 2: interested in, at which you have done, and now you
- 14:29Speaker 2: are halfway through that.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Book, right into it. But I didn't need to be
- 14:32Speaker 4: called slow in brackets endorsment of your decision making. But
- 14:39Speaker 4: it was fun, dear anyway. So we did that.
- 14:42Speaker 1: But then we get to the hotel room and there
- 14:45Speaker 1: was a moment right overnight. So I don't know about
- 14:48Speaker 1: you guys, but I struggled to sleep the first night
- 14:51Speaker 1: in a hotel room because there's generally air conditioning, and
- 14:54Speaker 1: you're trying.
- 14:55Speaker 4: To there's this light, a red light somewhere, and you go,
- 14:58Speaker 4: what is that? Yeah, it's generally the rushing fire. Yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 4: whatever it is. But I struggle to sleep.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It's pillows, it's the heavy doerners, it's not the temperature
- 15:08Speaker 1: is not right on the air conditioner. If it takes
- 15:10Speaker 1: me a couple of days to start to get my
- 15:11Speaker 1: sleep in my pattern and stuff right. Anyway, So at midnight,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm still awake and I hear the neighboring room come home.
- 15:17Speaker 4: This is a Saturday night, so they've been out and
- 15:20Speaker 4: had a good time whatever.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Not long after, things start to sound a little intimate
- 15:28Speaker 1: and making electricity. They are making all sorts of electricity
- 15:33Speaker 1: and it gets very loud, like at this stage, there's
- 15:37Speaker 1: claps of thunder so loud that I actually got out
- 15:41Speaker 1: of bed and I walked to the peep hole at
- 15:43Speaker 1: the front door because it sounded like they were at
- 15:46Speaker 1: our door in the hallway.
- 15:48Speaker 4: It was that loud.
- 15:50Speaker 1: They weren't, sadly, because I probably would have stayed there
- 15:52Speaker 1: and had a little sticky bit. Anyway, I went back
- 15:53Speaker 1: to bed, and I'm mining they're thinking, Oh God, all
- 15:55Speaker 1: I need is for halfway to wake up at this
- 15:57Speaker 1: point because the questions will come for sure.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Anyway, they got through, they did their business, and I thought,
- 16:03Speaker 4: oh thank god. Half an hour later it started again.
- 16:08Speaker 5: And was just as later showing off.
- 16:10Speaker 1: They well, whatever was happening, they were having a great time. Anyway,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I thought at that point, I need to be on
- 16:16Speaker 1: my toes in the morning because if they've done this
- 16:19Speaker 1: twice already, for sure when they wake up in the morning,
- 16:21Speaker 1: they're going to have another crack and Harper will be awake.
- 16:24Speaker 4: At that point.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So I've really got to be on my toes with
- 16:26Speaker 1: this because I don't want to have to answer the questions.
- 16:28Speaker 4: That are going to come.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Anyways, in the morning, I woke up. First thing I
- 16:32Speaker 1: did put the turn on the TV. Television's on. She's
- 16:35Speaker 1: in the bathroom, just doing your hair because we were
- 16:37Speaker 1: about to go down to breakfast, and it starts again
- 16:40Speaker 1: and I could hear it slowly picking up. So I
- 16:42Speaker 1: turned the telly up really loud, and then I'm.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Like, so, buddy, what do you want to do today?
- 16:48Speaker 4: Started singing. The telly was right up.
- 16:51Speaker 1: She goes, mumas to Telly so loud, so actually woke
- 16:54Speaker 1: up my ears a bit pop, like it's a bit blocked.
- 16:58Speaker 1: This is all going on in the back. I'm just
- 17:00Speaker 1: trying to make this noise over the top of it.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Fortunately she did not hear. But why are the walls
- 17:07Speaker 1: so thin in hotels? I mean, you can't hear people conversing,
- 17:11Speaker 1: but then you can hear that stuff like it's happening
- 17:13Speaker 1: in your own rooms.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I always think it's interesting how they designed the room
- 17:16Speaker 2: so that the bedheads go head to head on either
- 17:18Speaker 2: side of the wars. You could actually run them parallel,
- 17:22Speaker 2: couldn't you, so that you are each your heads as
- 17:25Speaker 2: far away from the next room as possible.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean there was no banging on the
- 17:29Speaker 4: walls or anything like that. It was just the noise
- 17:31Speaker 4: you would then be further away from them.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Yeah, So aside from that, it was a fun weekend
- 17:38Speaker 4: and uneventful.
- 17:40Speaker 2: So what was interesting last week when you were telling
- 17:42Speaker 2: us that you were going to do this, is you
- 17:44Speaker 2: won this through a WSFM competition.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Yes, that I think was deeply rigged.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Anyway, So when we got off air last week and
- 17:53Speaker 2: our producer said, I'm devastated to learn that these competitions
- 17:56Speaker 2: are rigged, and just that one and look at well
- 18:00Speaker 2: have been you may well have won it on merit M.
- 18:03Speaker 2: You have a history of winning WSFM competitions.
- 18:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I well, me and my family have won two
- 18:11Speaker 7: big ones that I maybe I would say has changed
- 18:13Speaker 7: the course of my life. Wow, it's my favorite radio station,
- 18:18Speaker 7: by the way.
- 18:19Speaker 4: I love it.
- 18:20Speaker 7: But when I was fifteen, I was so obsessed with
- 18:24Speaker 7: it and I wanted to work in music or radio
- 18:27Speaker 7: or something. So I entered a competition to co host
- 18:31Speaker 7: the show for an hour on WSFM with Ronnie Sparks
- 18:34Speaker 7: I don't know if you remember him.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Oh, and I won.
- 18:39Speaker 5: So I had to send in Like to.
- 18:41Speaker 7: Win, you had to send in six songs that you
- 18:45Speaker 7: would program if you were one of the WSFM hosts
- 18:48Speaker 7: and so I was choosing things like the Beatles in excess,
- 18:52Speaker 7: the Rolling Stones, I think, the Beach Boys, all very
- 18:55Speaker 7: original tracks. And then I got a phone call to
- 18:58Speaker 7: say had won, and I think my little voice came
- 19:01Speaker 7: through the other side of the phone and.
- 19:02Speaker 6: I was like yay, and they were like, how old
- 19:04Speaker 6: are you?
- 19:05Speaker 5: I said fifteen.
- 19:06Speaker 3: I can't wait to do this.
- 19:08Speaker 7: So I'm not sure if they regretted it, but I've
- 19:09Speaker 7: still got the audio of my one hour on WSFM,
- 19:13Speaker 7: and I decided I wanted to be in radio and
- 19:16Speaker 7: now I'm on the other side of things now. And
- 19:18Speaker 7: the second one was my parents sent it a competition
- 19:22Speaker 7: to have James Rain perform in their backyards to a
- 19:28Speaker 7: group of friends.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Amazing, how did now did they tell the friends or
- 19:33Speaker 1: did the friends just come over for a barbecue?
- 19:34Speaker 4: Next minute James Rain pops up.
- 19:36Speaker 7: They told the friends and they were so popular amongst
- 19:39Speaker 7: our friendship group, their friendship group for a very long
- 19:41Speaker 7: time because it was only so many people. It's decent
- 19:44Speaker 7: and probably about forty people or something like that, but
- 19:47Speaker 7: it was for their thirty fifth anniversary. I feel like
- 19:51Speaker 7: it is so I think they they told a story
- 19:54Speaker 7: about like meeting when they were eighteen dancing to James
- 19:57Speaker 7: Rain as their first dance, and they'd love to have
- 19:59Speaker 7: a circle moment, have them come and back.
- 20:02Speaker 5: It was the best.
- 20:03Speaker 1: You've got to be in it to win it, though,
- 20:04Speaker 1: because you have one of a couple of crackers as well.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so I've won a couple of big competitions, but
- 20:10Speaker 2: I've also won competitions at sun Corps Super Neple Games.
- 20:13Speaker 2: You know that they've got the things up on the
- 20:14Speaker 2: big screen. Answer a trivia question and win a valaboucher.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I won it twice in one season. So you got
- 20:21Speaker 2: to enter these things because I think oftentimes not as
- 20:23Speaker 2: many people.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Into because it's harping.
- 20:26Speaker 2: But yeah, I won a trip to Antarctica and a
- 20:29Speaker 2: trip to Alaska separately, So separately, different competition.
- 20:34Speaker 6: Different competition.
- 20:36Speaker 5: What was that?
- 20:38Speaker 2: So the first one was with I don't think it
- 20:40Speaker 2: exists anymore travel dot com dot au and that was
- 20:42Speaker 2: a this was back in the last century, children, and
- 20:45Speaker 2: it was a five hundred word right your travel moment
- 20:48Speaker 2: of the millennium. So I wrote about a theater I
- 20:53Speaker 2: went to in Japan called the Tuckarazaka Review, which was fabulous,
- 20:57Speaker 2: and then the Alaska one was a discovery every Channel
- 21:00Speaker 2: one and they discovered some mummies in the Aleutian Islands
- 21:03Speaker 2: off Alaska, and it was you know, this one was
- 21:05Speaker 2: three words and how would you feel if you encountered
- 21:08Speaker 2: a mummy in real life?
- 21:09Speaker 6: And I think that you know, everyone went all scared. Sushi.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Well, I said, hydrated, young and active. So it's and
- 21:17Speaker 2: I got this trip to Alaska so smart. And both
- 21:21Speaker 2: were interestingly, both were trips for one person. And I
- 21:25Speaker 2: was married at that stage, not happily. And it was
- 21:28Speaker 2: it was those two trips on my own that made
- 21:31Speaker 2: me really have time to reflect and get away and go,
- 21:35Speaker 2: this is not where I should be in my life.
- 21:37Speaker 6: And so yeah, wow, your life was changed by competitions.
- 21:41Speaker 6: It was, it was differently, Yeah, so.
- 21:44Speaker 5: What sort of competitions like, it's funny normally it's a
- 21:48Speaker 5: trip for two. Yeah, I a bizarre you reckon to
- 21:50Speaker 5: have a trip for one.
- 21:51Speaker 6: I know, And both of them were a trip for one.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's why she entered them too, well maybe subconsciously.
- 21:57Speaker 6: Who knows to get away?
- 21:59Speaker 1: Well, tickets on the radio, it was a postcode, so
- 22:02Speaker 1: they do a random postcode. The first people to ring
- 22:04Speaker 1: up and say what suburb it was. But going to
- 22:07Speaker 1: the Men in Black premiere did not change my life.
- 22:10Speaker 4: I did it not so sadly.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Although what are you wearing now? Well you're all in black?
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that might have influenced your fashioning sothetic. I was
- 22:18Speaker 2: at a Heart Kids ball and my there was the
- 22:21Speaker 2: third prize in the raffle, and I just knew I
- 22:23Speaker 2: was going to win it. It was a ten kilo
- 22:25Speaker 2: block of chocolate dairy milk, and I thought, I'm going
- 22:28Speaker 2: to win that. And it was the size of a
- 22:30Speaker 2: small door, this thing, and so I went up. I'm
- 22:33Speaker 2: all dolled up, you know, the long dress and the
- 22:35Speaker 2: high heels, and I went up, and because I'm hilarious, obviously,
- 22:39Speaker 2: I pretended it was really heavy when I picked it up,
- 22:42Speaker 2: and then I overbalanced and I ended up on my
- 22:45Speaker 2: back on.
- 22:46Speaker 6: The dance floor.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Six hundred people there, pinned down by this small door
- 22:52Speaker 2: of chocolate.
- 22:53Speaker 6: So I just started to bench press it and then
- 22:56Speaker 6: I got up and I danced.
- 22:57Speaker 1: That would be many people's fantasy to have a tank here,
- 23:02Speaker 1: like life sized chocolate on.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Top of that, that's outstanding. Well, the only thing I
- 23:09Speaker 5: ever had one is the meat Raffle at Ballina rs L.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Have you won any I was going to say, a
- 23:15Speaker 4: few World Cups. That's so easy.
- 23:17Speaker 5: It's not luck. You've got to work for that.
- 23:19Speaker 6: Okay.
- 23:20Speaker 4: There's nothing wrong with a meat raffle. It's actually.
- 23:24Speaker 6: It is so fun.
- 23:25Speaker 4: The problem is when you're there, though, you do buy
- 23:28Speaker 4: a bazillion fish itself.
- 23:29Speaker 1: That's not lucky.
- 23:30Speaker 6: The tickets for thirty.
- 23:33Speaker 4: It's a happy day.
- 23:35Speaker 5: God. But I'm married to a meat tray, so you know,
- 23:37Speaker 5: like it's like, well, we've got plenty of beef at home,
- 23:40Speaker 5: so bad I get to take more beef home.
- 23:44Speaker 6: Just not touching that.
- 23:48Speaker 5: It's true dirty.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I can't help it.
- 24:00Speaker 1: All right, moving on movie, right along, let's not touch
- 24:03Speaker 1: that anymore. I'm excited about netball on the weekend.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Yeah good.
- 24:06Speaker 6: I was going to say, maybe we're so team Girls
- 24:09Speaker 6: Cup this weekend.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yes, very excited. Starts on Friday, So there's four games
- 24:14Speaker 1: Friday night. First one to kick us off is the
- 24:16Speaker 1: Fever and the Firebirds, which a full length game.
- 24:19Speaker 4: No they're not. They're ten minute quarters yep.
- 24:22Speaker 1: So there's a game every hour on the hour, which
- 24:25Speaker 1: will be fantastic, and all of the games are live
- 24:28Speaker 1: on KO and Foxhill and Binge which is even better.
- 24:31Speaker 1: So there's lots of ways you can watch the games
- 24:33Speaker 1: and watch the live. But if you sit down Friday night,
- 24:35Speaker 1: that's four hours and netball burn, you're welcome.
- 24:37Speaker 4: We've got it sorted for you.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And then all day Saturday and Sunday is only finals
- 24:42Speaker 1: and that they will start from one o'clock and you
- 24:45Speaker 1: have to you basically just cross over and play whoever's
- 24:48Speaker 1: come in the same position in the other pool. That's
- 24:50Speaker 1: how the finalsill work. So the first game will be
- 24:51Speaker 1: fourth from Pool A versus fourth from Pool B until
- 24:55Speaker 1: you get to one v one on the final at
- 24:57Speaker 1: four o'clock on Sunday. But if if you're in Adelaide
- 25:01Speaker 1: or you've got the funds to fly at Adelaide, get
- 25:03Speaker 1: down there because it's the first time you'll see all
- 25:05Speaker 1: eight teams in the one place. All of the teams
- 25:08Speaker 1: have got signing sessions right throughout the weekend, so you
- 25:11Speaker 1: can go and meet all the players, your favorite teams
- 25:14Speaker 1: all the rest of it. It will be a fantastic
- 25:17Speaker 1: weekend and that's happening at Neble SA Stadium in Raudglode.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Fantastic, So all the teams are in the finals then,
- 25:25Speaker 2: so all teams will play finals.
- 25:26Speaker 4: You know, as we discussed last week, fourth versus.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Do you want to win it? Though?
- 25:31Speaker 1: I think there's always a I mean, I don't think
- 25:34Speaker 1: the teams will be going in to win it. I
- 25:36Speaker 1: don't know that that's necessarily what everybody's goal will be,
- 25:39Speaker 1: so much as let's use this as an opportunity to
- 25:42Speaker 1: get as many people on the court, try new combinations,
- 25:45Speaker 1: test out what we've got, new plays we've been working
- 25:48Speaker 1: on in the preseason against quality opposition. I don't think
- 25:51Speaker 1: people will be wanting to give away too much of
- 25:54Speaker 1: what's up their sleeves ahead of the season. But you know,
- 25:57Speaker 1: we've seen, as we spoke about it was the Swifts
- 26:00Speaker 1: one pre season last year, and that didn't turn into
- 26:02Speaker 1: anything once the big season started. So I don't know
- 26:04Speaker 1: how much you can take from the actual winner of it,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but it'll certainly, I think, give us a good first
- 26:10Speaker 1: look or second look at some of the new combos
- 26:12Speaker 1: and new players, and that's exciting. Oh last so many
- 26:19Speaker 1: I want to see Grace Weki with Verity, but I'm
- 26:22Speaker 1: also really key to see Mary Cholock.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Can't wait to see what she does with.
- 26:26Speaker 5: The Firebirds for Firebirds.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, heaps so many players.
- 26:30Speaker 5: I'm looking forward to seeing Mavericks with close to their
- 26:32Speaker 5: full strength lineup after they had some just terrific injuries.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Yeah, tough season for them.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I just saw Kim Jenner posting a photo of her
- 26:40Speaker 1: new Mavericks uniform with her new surname on it because
- 26:43Speaker 1: there was a few weddings in the off season.
- 26:45Speaker 6: Well, that's going to mess you.
- 26:47Speaker 4: It's now brown, so at least it's easy.
- 26:50Speaker 6: And she's double barreling.
- 26:51Speaker 4: No, she's not double barreling. She's just brown. Yep, So
- 26:54Speaker 4: Kim Brown.
- 26:55Speaker 6: I would have stayed with Jenna.
- 27:02Speaker 5: I mean, when you're a commentator, you see players get married,
- 27:04Speaker 5: you're like, please don't change it, Please don't.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Ah, she's changing.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly what what I said this morning to
- 27:10Speaker 1: myself when I saw her new uniforms.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Another one, But it doesn't.
- 27:16Speaker 2: So after Team Girls Cup though, something very exciting happens
- 27:20Speaker 2: in the world of No Dribble. So we've talked about this, well,
- 27:24Speaker 2: we've we flagged it last week and I think everyone's
- 27:26Speaker 2: guessed it on Facebook anyway. But yes, we have a
- 27:28Speaker 2: No Dribble tipping comp Yeah, it's very exciting. So thanks
- 27:34Speaker 2: to our friends at vala This is why Cath and
- 27:36Speaker 2: I are all dolled up in our Vali gear today.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Lizz is too, but you can't see her, but she's
- 27:40Speaker 2: doing a dance in her Valid gear at the moment too.
- 27:42Speaker 2: But our friends at Valor are supporting the Valor Dribblers tipping.
- 27:45Speaker 6: Comp, so it is a.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Compea.
- 27:49Speaker 6: So it's going to be fun.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Not only can you tip against all of the other dribblers,
- 27:53Speaker 2: but you can form little leaderboards with your friends and
- 27:56Speaker 2: have little private tipping comps in there too. We have
- 27:59Speaker 2: got some exciting prizes coming together. One that I'm really
- 28:04Speaker 2: excited about is that Valor has given us a signed
- 28:09Speaker 2: Thunderbirds dress from the premiership winning team last year. And
- 28:13Speaker 2: so the first first one hundred people who sign up
- 28:16Speaker 2: for our tip and comp, which you can sign up
- 28:18Speaker 2: for at our website no dribble dot com dot au,
- 28:21Speaker 2: first one hundred to sign up, we'll go.
- 28:22Speaker 6: In the draw to win that dress.
- 28:25Speaker 4: So that's not part of the major That is not
- 28:27Speaker 4: part of the major price.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Premiership Adelaide Thunderbirds sign dress.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Are you joking me?
- 28:34Speaker 5: Yep?
- 28:35Speaker 6: Get your hands off it.
- 28:36Speaker 4: I know you want it, but yeah, miss Georgie, Yeah, she's.
- 28:39Speaker 6: On their front and center, so no way.
- 28:42Speaker 4: So that's very good start everybody.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so the grand prize we will announce over the weekend,
- 28:48Speaker 2: but we will open it for registrations from Monday, so
- 28:51Speaker 2: after the Team Girls Cup, so people got time to
- 28:54Speaker 2: catch up on the podcast focus on Team Girls Cup.
- 28:56Speaker 2: But then on Monday jump on board that it's fifteen dollars,
- 28:59Speaker 2: which whi is just over a dollar a week for
- 29:01Speaker 2: the season, and every week we will have a prize
- 29:05Speaker 2: from Valor, a fifty dollars Valor voucher. So even if
- 29:08Speaker 2: after the first six rounds, you know I can't win
- 29:11Speaker 2: this thing, you put your tips in, you go in
- 29:13Speaker 2: the draw to win a Vura vouchers.
- 29:15Speaker 1: God everywhere I'm getting amongst the and you know what's
- 29:19Speaker 1: even better is we get to actually see if.
- 29:23Speaker 4: You have turned a corner in your tipping or not.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Yes, well if Liz and I are useless or not,
- 29:29Speaker 2: well there will also be a special prize for the
- 29:32Speaker 2: person who comes Stone motherless last. Because you know, every
- 29:37Speaker 2: competition needs a winner, and your competition needs a loser,
- 29:40Speaker 2: and there's some there is integrity in trying your best
- 29:43Speaker 2: but coming up shortly. So we will have a closed
- 29:46Speaker 2: Facebook group for people who are involved. You will get
- 29:48Speaker 2: weekly tips from me and you can do with those
- 29:52Speaker 2: as you wish. And each week lizen cast will rotate
- 29:55Speaker 2: their tips through, so we'll get a video from each
- 29:58Speaker 2: of them fortnightly and rotate them.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Those will be available in the private Facebook group.
- 30:03Speaker 1: So okay, let's let the trash talk start, though the
- 30:06Speaker 1: three of us need to have whoever comes last.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Has to buy lunch for the other two. Very nice, okay,
- 30:15Speaker 2: and a good lunch, not a sandwich like a wine.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, a proper lunch. Al right, Well let's see
- 30:21Speaker 4: you in yeah, because you know it'll be Carolyn, this
- 30:29Speaker 4: could be my year.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Who knows, who knows? Yeah?
- 30:32Speaker 2: Anyway, So and the grand prize, as I said, we're
- 30:34Speaker 2: just we will announce that properly, but it might involve
- 30:38Speaker 2: coming to that lunch or yes, some sort of hanging
- 30:43Speaker 2: out with the no Drive.
- 30:45Speaker 1: We're not doing it completely on the fly, dribblers. We
- 30:47Speaker 1: do have some stuff planned and it will be a
- 30:51Speaker 1: next level major prize.
- 30:53Speaker 4: So you want to be in this. I not want
- 30:55Speaker 4: this Adelaide Thunderbird stretch. You're going to struggle to get
- 30:58Speaker 4: that out of here.
- 30:59Speaker 6: You can have that, but yeah, so jump on board that.
- 31:03Speaker 2: So, as I said, we will not open registrations for
- 31:05Speaker 2: that until Monday after Team Girls Cup, which is the
- 31:09Speaker 2: date is it next Monday to seventeenth. Monday to seventeenth,
- 31:12Speaker 2: will open that so that way you can everyone can
- 31:15Speaker 2: focus on the Team Girls Cup. People who don't listen
- 31:18Speaker 2: to the podcast on the first day won't be disadvantaged.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So you've got a little bit of time to that.
- 31:24Speaker 4: But it's going to be so fun.
- 31:25Speaker 6: Please get involved and enjoin us and have fun.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Oh I'm excited. I'm excited, Miss Elizabeth. I forgot to
- 31:32Speaker 1: mention just before when we're in the city, we saw
- 31:34Speaker 1: your cute.
- 31:35Speaker 5: But I know you're not talking about me, because I
- 31:41Speaker 5: would not describe my butt as cute. I would describe
- 31:44Speaker 5: it as menopausal saggy. Oh there, you don't know, you
- 31:47Speaker 5: keep going.
- 31:48Speaker 6: We were just it only matters what the meat tray thinks.
- 31:51Speaker 5: That's exactly right, Yes, if the meat tray likes my rumph.
- 31:57Speaker 1: God, No, we were Harper and I were just strolling
- 32:00Speaker 1: long Barangaroo there along the water and randomly looked up
- 32:03Speaker 1: and there was lizz Alis and all her majestic fairy glory.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Fairy not fairy.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Yeah, she's actually quite often on my on my route route,
- 32:16Speaker 2: so I quite often get to write on Liz and
- 32:18Speaker 2: where would you sit on Lizzalis. I like to sit
- 32:21Speaker 2: outside when I can, at the back, but.
- 32:24Speaker 6: Sometimes we were.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Very pretty though, and I actually stood there from it.
- 32:27Speaker 4: I took a photo.
- 32:28Speaker 6: You're talking to me then, but anyway you are too, thanks.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and slightly needy, but I'm sorry you're learning this
- 32:36Speaker 4: for the first time, dear. But no, Liz.
- 32:39Speaker 1: I took a photo on I put it on our
- 32:41Speaker 1: Facebook Dribbles Facebook page, but I was actually standing there
- 32:44Speaker 1: after that, just thinking, holy hell, that is.
- 32:48Speaker 4: So awesome, amazing, It's amazing, mate, and she's got a fairy.
- 32:54Speaker 2: When I first met guys, it was at the Lizzellis
- 32:57Speaker 2: All Girls multi sport tour of regional New South Wales,
- 33:01Speaker 2: when I used my corporate position to get myself on
- 33:05Speaker 2: that trip in order to become friends with you. Yes,
- 33:08Speaker 2: Carol successful Cheryl Salisbury who was then the captain of
- 33:11Speaker 2: the Matilda's.
- 33:12Speaker 6: It was also on that trip.
- 33:13Speaker 4: She has a fairy, yeah, because any sergeant had one
- 33:17Speaker 4: as well.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Yes, Nick Livingston does she yeah, yeah.
- 33:22Speaker 6: It needs to be, but I don't know, should be
- 33:25Speaker 6: a Catherine Cox totally.
- 33:26Speaker 4: I mean it's a given.
- 33:27Speaker 6: Nah.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Yeah, So that was nice to see see Liz. Then
- 33:30Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, now, how was your weekend? Because you've
- 33:33Speaker 2: had a couple of big gigs.
- 33:34Speaker 6: I have had a couple of big gigs.
- 33:35Speaker 2: I had a fantastic gig on Friday night at the
- 33:38Speaker 2: Central Coast Leagues Club.
- 33:39Speaker 6: For Gosford Rotary. I really enjoyed.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I was really hoping that Alfred might have some weather,
- 33:45Speaker 2: which would mean I could stay at home in my
- 33:46Speaker 2: pajamas on Friday night. But he didn't come that far south,
- 33:50Speaker 2: and I'm so glad that that didn't happen because it
- 33:52Speaker 2: was just a fabulous drive up there. A great gig, yeah,
- 33:55Speaker 2: always fun and they were raising funds for Orange Sky,
- 33:58Speaker 2: which is a fantastic organization that provides laundry services for
- 34:04Speaker 2: homeless people.
- 34:04Speaker 6: Oh wow, yeah, it's fabulous.
- 34:07Speaker 1: You said you go there early and listen to the
- 34:09Speaker 1: MC and the work with the crowd and stuff. Now
- 34:12Speaker 1: how early when you get there and you listen to that,
- 34:15Speaker 1: can you tell if it's a good crowd or not.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Almost immediate yes and go, oh my god.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 6: Well this was terrific though.
- 34:22Speaker 2: So it's a big ballroom and I was up on
- 34:23Speaker 2: stage and it's got the full blue velvet curtains and
- 34:28Speaker 2: the two guys I was the opening act, and the
- 34:29Speaker 2: two guys I was on with said you've got to
- 34:32Speaker 2: just throw those curtains apart and come out.
- 34:34Speaker 6: And it's like, all right, yeah, I'm going to do that.
- 34:37Speaker 2: So I threw the curtains apart and there was a
- 34:39Speaker 2: giant banner in front of it, so all I did
- 34:41Speaker 2: was basically hit a front like a wall of canvas,
- 34:45Speaker 2: and I had to edge my way along and then
- 34:47Speaker 2: come out. But it was the first time I've ever
- 34:51Speaker 2: worked with an Osland interpreter. Hi everyone, great job and
- 34:54Speaker 2: that it's just such a privilege to be able to
- 34:58Speaker 2: have that facility available. But it's interesting for me because
- 35:03Speaker 2: they said, oh, we've watched a lot of your videos.
- 35:04Speaker 2: You talk quite fast. It's like, yeah, no, shit, that's
- 35:08Speaker 2: my sorry, I can't do much about that, but yeah.
- 35:10Speaker 2: So I had Born there firing away in the background. Wow. Unfortunately,
- 35:17Speaker 2: there was one of the guys I was working with
- 35:19Speaker 2: had a story about a flamenco dancer and there was
- 35:21Speaker 2: no sign for Flamenco.
- 35:23Speaker 6: It was a shame he had to just spelled it out.
- 35:25Speaker 6: So I wanted to see something cool like that.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Oh disappointing.
- 35:28Speaker 2: But one thing I did have last week that was
- 35:30Speaker 2: a little bit shocking was I've told you how I'm
- 35:32Speaker 2: doing all this work on our website and I I
- 35:36Speaker 2: have actually got a professional involved, but we've had to
- 35:39Speaker 2: take something down because yeah, I have been harassed via
- 35:43Speaker 2: the website, so we had I went to enormous pains
- 35:48Speaker 2: to set up a facility where you could record a
- 35:51Speaker 2: win beneath our Wings nomination and I have been absolutely
- 35:56Speaker 2: spammed from one individual and m has kindly put together
- 36:01Speaker 2: some of the clips that I got in this that
- 36:04Speaker 2: led me to have to take the damn thing down.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yo, Yo, Yo, what's up, Hoochy, what you're doing? I
- 36:15Speaker 1: think I might have a hot Cross bun soon. I'm
- 36:17Speaker 1: getting a little bit peckish. Nearly two o'clock. Do you
- 36:22Speaker 1: think I could have a wine yet? What's your role
- 36:24Speaker 1: on drinking on a school night, Carolyn? I just wanted
- 36:35Speaker 1: to nominate cap Cox for a wind beneath My Wings
- 36:39Speaker 1: just because she's downright awesome, not to mention incredibly good looking,
- 36:45Speaker 1: and I mean, the list goes on and there's probably
- 36:48Speaker 1: not enough time.
- 36:48Speaker 4: There's only forty four seconds left. So that's my nomination,
- 36:52Speaker 4: thanks so much.
- 36:53Speaker 1: So.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's a selection of the messages that I
- 36:58Speaker 2: got from someone who is grossly irresponsible.
- 37:01Speaker 6: But so I had to take that down.
- 37:04Speaker 4: I was checking to see if it were and I
- 37:06Speaker 4: appreciate that, and I didn't know if the first one
- 37:09Speaker 4: worked or just better give you a chunk of them.
- 37:13Speaker 1: What I loved is how much you were clearly enjoying
- 37:16Speaker 1: yourself in that. I did four of them, and then
- 37:21Speaker 1: I told Harper what I'd done. She said, well, let
- 37:23Speaker 1: me do one as well. That was the chickens.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Chickens were one of my favorites actually, So that nomination
- 37:29Speaker 2: form will go back up at some stage soon. But
- 37:31Speaker 2: I'm just having to deal with the website one step
- 37:34Speaker 2: at a time. And as I said, I had to
- 37:35Speaker 2: get a professional involved. And I don't mean like a
- 37:41Speaker 2: medical professional to deal with my mental health after that harassment,
- 37:44Speaker 2: but no, an actual website professional. Anyway, Thank you, Thank you, Katherine,
- 37:50Speaker 2: So Liz you heard. Then Catherine nominated Katherine for a
- 37:53Speaker 2: wind beneath her wings. I think the arguments that she
- 37:56Speaker 2: laid out in summary that she's awesome and good looking.
- 38:00Speaker 2: I'm not willing to support that nomination for wind beneath
- 38:04Speaker 2: our Wings. Obviously, you can put a contrary vote if
- 38:08Speaker 2: you like, and oh, hang on, maybe she could win
- 38:11Speaker 2: a scrunchy.
- 38:12Speaker 6: No, she would have to wear said scrunchy.
- 38:15Speaker 5: This is bairing. This is not going well for you.
- 38:21Speaker 4: No, I all about having to wear it. Sorry, Liz, No,
- 38:26Speaker 4: there is a rule.
- 38:27Speaker 5: If you are one of the people on this podcast
- 38:31Speaker 5: and you nominate yourself, you not only have to wear
- 38:33Speaker 5: a scrunchy, you have to wear a scrunchy for every
- 38:37Speaker 5: nomination that you put in.
- 38:39Speaker 4: Well, there was only one.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I would have thought she would have to put her
- 38:42Speaker 2: hair in pigtails and wear scrunch Yes, so very much.
- 38:45Speaker 6: So let's sort that out during the week and.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Beneath our Wings.
- 38:50Speaker 2: We're very democratic here, Liz all in favor of Liz's motions,
- 38:53Speaker 2: say I I I okay. Motion, Carrie Catherine is the
- 38:58Speaker 2: wind beneath our wings. This week we'll get two scrunches,
- 39:01Speaker 2: which she will wear in pigtails, and there will be photographic.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Evidence on the upside. I get a Printhy Wine vouch.
- 39:10Speaker 5: You do too?
- 39:11Speaker 4: All right, Well, I think that that's probably about all
- 39:14Speaker 4: we have time.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Last week, you and I went and did a fun
- 39:16Speaker 2: podcast after we finished recording this one, didn't we That's
- 39:19Speaker 2: Over the Back Fence Everybody, which is a podcast also
- 39:22Speaker 2: on the DM network, So have a listen to that one.
- 39:24Speaker 2: I think that's coming out next week. They've got a
- 39:26Speaker 2: great interview with Lane Beachley this week.
- 39:29Speaker 6: Those were hilarious.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that was so funny.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I reckon they'd know what to do with the Printhy
- 39:33Speaker 2: Wine voucher or t Absolutely so. But have a listen
- 39:36Speaker 2: to that if you'd like to know more about Catherine's.
- 39:39Speaker 6: Soul or otherwise.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Did we speak of that?
- 39:43Speaker 6: I don't think so.
- 39:44Speaker 2: We talked about about your retirement, We talked about exercise,
- 39:48Speaker 2: we talked about your transition into commentary.
- 39:51Speaker 4: We did was good chat.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we did it fight chat. But that's all we've
- 39:55Speaker 2: got time for this week. This week will be the
- 39:58Speaker 2: Team Girls Cup, So get around that, watch a lot
- 40:00Speaker 2: at ball. Get around the No Dribble Tipping comp which
- 40:04Speaker 2: will go live Monday the seventeenth, and the first one
- 40:08Speaker 2: hundred people to sign up for the tipping comp. We'll
- 40:10Speaker 2: go in the draw to win this Thunderbirds signed dress.
- 40:14Speaker 2: And whether or not you're a Thunderbirds fan, these guys
- 40:17Speaker 2: are the Raining premiers two years in a row, so
- 40:20Speaker 2: this is a red hot property you want. You're never
- 40:22Speaker 2: going to get better odds than one in one hundred,
- 40:24Speaker 2: are you?
- 40:24Speaker 6: So there we go.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and otherwise, have a great week. I'm Carolyn Swindel,
- 40:28Speaker 2: I'm Cathcox signing off.
- 40:30Speaker 5: I'm lizz Ellis and Alfred. You can go away right now,
- 40:33Speaker 5: stay dry is.
- 40:34Speaker 6: Bye, guys, have the week.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Bye.
