- 0:00[SPEAKER_03]: The funny one I thought was Chuck Noblock.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_03]: Chuck Noblock shockingly in the 90s is like top 15 and wins above replacement for a position player nuts.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like I couldn't throw the first base yet was there.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_03]: I just remember Royals Chuck Noblock.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's that's that's my strong memories of him.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_03]: All right, welcome into another edition of the draft show.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_03]: Make sure you like and subscribe wherever you are listening or watching to the Stirling Homes, Emily and Adam Wein rib.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: Going to go back a little bit here.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_03]: We're going 90's heading back to the 90's, 90's baseball.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: We are all going to pick a catcher.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_03]: Pick a first baseman, pick a second baseman, shortstop and third baseman.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: We are going to have some fun in the 90s.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: I pick in sync, okay.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think I get all the in sync members.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's how this works.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: I will go first this time, Adam, you go second.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you will go third and you get that illustrious wrap around pick.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's very, very fancy.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: With my first pick in the 1990s,
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: I will select Mike Piazza.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_03]: I've got to get my catcher out of the way early.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: I just think that's the smart move.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: I've got to do it.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_03]: The best hitting catcher of the 90s off the board, give them to me, Adam to you.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: I have to do the same thing you did.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I have a list of funky weird catchers that I could have selected, but I'm taking Pudge Rodriguez off the board.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: There are two bonafide Hall of Famers here, but there are a lot of big names and knowing Emma's fandom.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know that she's got some fun catchers in her personal history too, but Pudge for me to start off my Rock Solid Infield.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a smart move.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: I get it.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes you have to go positional value.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think captured there was a clear cut to and then it drops down a little bit.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: And so for that reason I feel like that was the smart move for us.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_03]: But Emma, you get pick three and pick four.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so since I don't, since I get three and four and Adam read my mind on the catcher, I'll go with not a catcher for number three, let's say give me, give me Cal Ripkin.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's, I mean, speaks for itself, I think, and then I will take a catcher because now that Adam has read my mind, I am worried he is going to take this catcher, Jason Kendall at number four.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I love Jason Kendall.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_03]: One of my favorite stories about Jason Kendall is actually the time that he was supposed to, he wrote a book and it was the time that he was supposed to have an off day.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think the catcher who was going to catch for him.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: was out sick or something like that.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: And he was told by his manager to take the day off.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, I'm going to go just go out drinking.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just going to have my whole day off.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: You're not playing.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: So just get after.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to slump.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_03]: Let's try and get break out of this slump.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just do something different.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_03]: Well, all of a sudden he had a show up to get.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's a day game.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_03]: Apparently he's still drunk.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: And he ended up going like two for four, like two for three that day.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: And it broke him out of that slump.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I always thought that was a really fun story.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: So I love Jason Kendall.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_03]: Royals legend, by the way, Jason Kendall.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to have to say that that actually fits really well.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe she'll be mad at me for telling the story.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: But my mom could never remember Jason Kendall's name.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so she would always call him Kendall Jackson like the wine.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like that actually that kind of fits with the story.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: You just told.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: So that's perfect.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_03]: Look at this.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_03]: She was she was actually right the whole time.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: Adam back to you.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: Pick number two.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, now that all the catchers are done, uh, just got to give a special shout out to Charles Johnson, Hobby Lopez, St. Alamart Jr, who are hiposada.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're never getting selected, but you still hold a place in my heart.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, most of the 1990s, this man was at shortstop eventually changed positions, but my shortstop is Alex Rodriguez.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you son of a gun, lock him in, Seattle Mariners, A-Rod, and, uh, Pudra Rodriguez are the first two foundational pieces of my rockster.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so that's a great call and you kind of have to look up to the 90s to see which guy played the majority of his 90s was any in the 80s what was in the set what was in the early 2000s and he was still an absolute stud Obviously in in the 90s even as such a youngster for me in the 90s this was a little tough because this guy played and I think maybe is majority known once it
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: It turned to the 2000s long career so it makes a little hard, but I'm going to go cheaper Jones at third base.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to go cheaper Jones at third base.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's that's my.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go cheaper.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go cheaper.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: I was thinking of someone else who also was just atrocious defensively though, feel like I couldn't do it.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll go cheaper at third.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_03]: I now need first base, second base and
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: There are some fun options, but I'm going to go with my personal favorite second basement of that era.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't care if you think someone else I'm going with it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: Craig Bissiel.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: I love Craig Bisiel.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_03]: The killer bees in use.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: I love Craig Bisiel.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going with Craig.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care if you think it's someone else who I can't to the name because one of you is probably going to take them, but I love Craig.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_03]: So give me Craig.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: Adam to you.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're in the second Bayes danger zone for sure.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: I need first second and third right now, but I've got a random collection of second baseman that I feel like I'm going to have fun with in my fifth
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: So, let's take our first baseman and there's boomer bust here, I'm going with a member of the 500 home run club and the one that might get overlooked, but that might provide me the most production and that's Jim Tome.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: So, other options on the board for me, but I just have to go with the old big swing and country slugger.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a fun one, I like that one a lot, it's a good call, good call.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I got my short stop in my catcher.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go first base, mark McGuire.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: We go mark McGuire.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, little, little tainted legacy, but you know, whatever, he's still still legend.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna go mark McGuire at first.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now what do I need?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Third base is a tough one.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think about this now, maybe, about Wade Boggs, you know, Wade Boggs.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great goal.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, my heart.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go Wade Boggs.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of the obvious third baseman I feel like that's that's going to be left for Adam.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's going to go though that that route all right.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: Adam to you.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: Are you going that route or not.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: I got Jason Kendall a little bit there.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: I have a third baseman.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he's the obvious one that you're thinking, but a man there is nobody maybe all Montreal wishes they had finished the 94 season, but this guy.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: really wish as he had finished the 94 season.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: He might have hit 400.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: He might have been an earlier draft pick, but unfortunately that season doesn't go into the books that way.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: Matt Williams is my third baseman.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: Great giant, great Cleveland third baseman for a time, eventually a diamond back in the late 99 all star with the Diamond and Max at Fenway Park.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Matt Williams.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's a really good underrated pick right there.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: I was actually going to say Edgar Martinez now that third base has been cleared out.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_03]: I thought Edgar, I know he's more of a DH right, but technically he was also a third base.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_03]: No one picked Edgar Martinez, but I think Matt Williams is actually the sneaky pick there, especially for taking defense into consideration here.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_03]: All right, it goes to me for my final two picks.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_03]: I do need first base and I do need short stop first base.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: This surprised me here just so you know Craig Bizio in all of the 90s was fourth and wins above replacement as a heads up.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: But at first base, I wouldn't have thought this.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: Jeff Bagwell was number one first baseman with wins above replacements.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I'm going to go with him because then I'm just feeling like I'm picking too many astros.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_03]: So I am going to go with the guy who was fifth in wins above replacements in the 90s.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: That is Frank Thomas.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: Frank Thomas is who I'm going to go with.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_03]: A's legend obviously.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'm taking that version.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: Not the white socks.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: I want the A's version of Frank Thomas.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_03]: I'm kidding, by the way, give me Frank Thomas as my first basement, the big hurt and then a short stop was decide between two guys.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: Do I go defense first longevity?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: Now come on, now give me Barry Larkin, Barry Larkin's gonna be my short stop.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: love that dude.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: Second base is all I have left.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: I've get again.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: I got a laundry list of funny names here.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: I know some people went through the challenge flag here and say this man's best years were in the 2000s, but the back half of the 90s was good to him.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: He found his forever home and now he's landed in Cooperstown.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Jeff Kent to route out my team at second base.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking the chance.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: Let me see something.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of Astros, man.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: There were just so many
- 9:28[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'll give you that.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: He started to really pick it up in like 97.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: The joining of the Giants, the 99 season, you know, met Jeff Kent not terribly memorable, but a little better than you thought he was.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then late 90 Giants Jeff Kent much better.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: And then he gets to the Astros at age 35 and 36 and OPS is like 80, 80, and you're like, what the hell, how are you, how are you doing this?
- 9:54[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it probably helps when you are surrounded by a ice like Jeff Bagwell, Bizio, and maybe who else was back there at that time?
- 10:02[SPEAKER_03]: I'll answer your question.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I think I also need a second baseman.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go maybe I'll couch this by saying that this man's best years were not in the 90s, but he his career extended into the 90s, but I'm going to go with prime, which is possibly 80s, Lou Whitaker.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go Lou Whitaker.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think I figured that I was safe to leave this one till the end.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: I figured it probably wasn't going to get picked before me, but I mean, he's a world series winner with the Tigers.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: He was an all star.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: He was a gold glove winner, Silver Slugger, and I think he's one of the more underrated infielders from that era.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: like I said, I think his career ended.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say in 95.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: So probably not, you know, the prime years of him there, but I think as a second baseman, that's what I would go with.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say Cubs Ryan Sandberg.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think he was also some of the 90s as well.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: He could have thrown out.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: I thought the most surprising was about Roberto Alamore.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_03]: That was the guy I thought for sure.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I was a summit between Alamore and Craig Bissio.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: But I went Bissio.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_03]: I liked him better than I looked at the war numbers.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: And he had the more wins above replacement.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: The funny one I thought was Chuck Noblock.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: Chuck Noblock shockingly in the 90s is like top 15 in wins above replacement for a position player nuts.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like I couldn't throw the first base yet was there.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: I just remember Royals Chuck Noblock.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_03]: That's that's that's my strong memories of him.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_03]: Well, let us know in the chat who won?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: Was it Emma?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: Was it Adam?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_03]: Was it myself?
- 11:44[SPEAKER_03]: Who did we forget?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_03]: Who would you have on your squad?
- 11:47[SPEAKER_03]: Make sure you like and subscribe as well.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_03]: Until next time, this is the draft show.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_03]: I consider, hear me out, days and confused to be a football movie.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know why?
- 11:58[SPEAKER_03]: The entire premise is on him not signing his pledge for football at the football movie.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: Come at me.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome into another edition of the draft show.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_03]: Make sure you like and subscribe wherever you're watching or listening to this.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_03]: Sterling homes in the Langen, Adam, Wine Ribb.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_03]: We are going to do something a little different, little fun here.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_03]: We're getting to the movie sector over here, but there is a sports twist.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: Baseball movies.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_03]: Top five upies, baseball movies.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_03]: It can be a little, um,
- 12:31[SPEAKER_03]: forgiving.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_03]: It baseball's played in it.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: We're counting it.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_03]: We will have, um, we'll have Adam go first.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go second.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, I will give you the wrap around.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'll let you go third and also start the second round off right there.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_03]: So baseball movies.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_03]: Adam, what's pick one one?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, you scared me a little bit in saying that if emphasizing that if baseball is mentioned it counts as a baseball movie, so now that I know I'm in the one spot, I'm not getting another picture six, I'm taking the naked gun for murderous Reggie Jackson for the incredible montage of the blooper reel that goes up on the big board, you know, players getting hit by cars and eaten by Cheetahs.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: uh, and Rico Palazzo behind the plate.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm worried I wouldn't get this at six.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm taking it at one one and I'll see how the rest of the draft falls.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_03]: Incredible.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_03]: Incredible.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm proud of you.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for me it's almost like, uh,
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: I consider, hear me out, days and confused to be a football movie.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know why?
- 13:37[SPEAKER_03]: The entire premise is on him not signing his pledge for football.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's a football movie.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_03]: Come at me.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: My number, my list is gonna be dumb.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'm bad at movies.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_03]: I like a lot of movies that people don't like and I dislike a lot of politics and movies sometimes.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not trying to be a hot take artist, but I don't, I'm not a movie guy.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have, I'm not a cinephile.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not that.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going with a childhood classic.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: Give me sandlot.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: Give me the sandlot.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_03]: Come on.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_03]: So well done.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_03]: Give it to me.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you get two picks and a row picks three and four.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first of all, I don't think that the Sandlot is a hot take at all.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's a classic.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm surprised that Adam didn't take it at number one, honestly.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, no, Sandlot is a great one.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna have to go field of dreams.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a classic.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: all of it.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: I still, I get emotional when I watch it, especially the, the last, the end scene.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry if I'm spoiling it for anyone, but if you haven't seen it yet, that's kind of on you at this point.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, my, my dad who is alive and well, I, I tear up thinking about my relationship with my dad and how he,
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: got me to fall in love with baseball, watching the end of that movie, so I still get emotional with it.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: So got to go, got to go field of dreams.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Also, the acting in it, I mean Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, just great cast as well.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Then for my next pig, maybe I feel like this one's a little bit more underrated just because it's
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: I guess newer in terms of baseball movies, I mean, it was it came out in the 2000s, but gave me the rookie with Dennis Quaid.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: I love that one.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's great.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great story.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: Again, extremely well cast.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think that it's one that
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: kids can enjoy it.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: I got into it as a kid, but adults can enjoy it as well.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's a true story.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's very heartwarming.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I really like the rookie.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a great movie.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_03]: That's I'm with you.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's not a hot take.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's a very lukewarm take.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_03]: I like that one.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_03]: Good call, Emma.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_03]: Back to me.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go bolder, I feel like that's a classic.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_03]: And I like to laugh.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: I like to laugh.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: And that movie makes me laugh.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: So going with bolder, I feel a theme here.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_03]: Why I kind of like the funny ones.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of I guess more or less what I'm about.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Adam, to you, you get two picks.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: Well, certainly I'm very thankful you end the direction you did because you cleared up a log jam for me.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: I had three movies for two spots, but I lost Bull Durham.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: So now I will take Major League with my second pick for my money, the funniest baseball movie of all time.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: There are plenty of situations in the current game that do mirror this as well where the owner actively wants the team to lose and occasionally the team rebelles against it and does well.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: Chad, I will be amazed, Hayes, Chad, I'll page our Sorano and my third pick.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: Moneyball has to be not be romantic about baseball.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: How can you not be romantic about an A's team that won 20 straight, but also actually didn't win a playoff series.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: And let's not talk about that.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: Scott Hadberg is a household name, Ron Washington, because of this movie.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: People know those people.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, even though it glosses over molders, Edo and Hudson, I'll still take money ball in the third round.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's extremely hard.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_03]: How hard is the play first base?
- 17:10[SPEAKER_03]: tell him it's not hard.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_03]: It's extremely hard.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, all right.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good call.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: I'm at it you because you took that movie and that was my next movie.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I will go with the movie.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_03]: I remember watching as a kid in thinking it was really good and I've not watched it since then, but I hope it, dad, it does the natural.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_03]: Give me the natural.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why, but as a kid, anyone else watch it like in school?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we watch that movie in school.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_03]: Like on the old time you'd bring you'd wheel in, the, the, well, it was big, but it's a small screen.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_03]: Those old time TV for the VHS, that's what I remember watching the, the natural on.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_03]: Anyone else?
- 17:51[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like somebody showed me the scene where he hits a light fixture with a baseball.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: Only that though.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I watch the whole movie as a kid, but I got shown that plenty.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going with it.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going with it.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't care.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: No one else would probably watch that on in a school.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe I just had good or bad teachers.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_03]: The choice is up to you.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you have two picks in a row, which way are you going?
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is tough.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many good ones.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Moneyball thankfully that you know, you took that one away for me.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: I had to go with a league of their own.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's a league of their own.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fantastic movie.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for women in sports as well, there's no crying and baseball.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, come on.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fantastic movie.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, you may league of their own.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_03]: In fairness though, the only thing I can think about now is when I see, is it Sandra Bullock when she does those commercials of the What's in your wallet or whatever those things are?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: Jennifer, I can't confuse.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'm telling you, you've never seen him in the same room before.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Gardner, I've died of that.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: I can't tell my part.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_03]: I can't, I can't do it.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: Which one was in pretty woman?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: think neither.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, neither.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: I get confused.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_03]: It happens.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, not a single file, not a single file.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: I told you, I'm not a cinephile.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not a, I don't think that's a word, but I'm not one of them.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_03]: Well, all I think about now when I hear that scene is that what's in your wallet.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's all I can think about is that commercial now.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_03]: It kind of
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, um, oh, this one's hard, I think.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I'm going a little sort of maybe unexpected with this one, but since I know that I won't get another pick for a while, I'm going to go with trouble with the curve.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: Is it trouble with the curve?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's a newer one in the grand scheme of things, but I like it.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I lean into as a woman who works in baseball.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: I really like the character
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Amy Adams character in that movie and you know, you got Clint Eastwood just in Timberlake.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Also really good in that movie surprisingly.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_03]: So I got to go with that Julia Roberts That's who is in pretty woman and by the way, I also get her confused with Sandra Bullock and
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I keep me the person.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_03]: I can only think of two things at a time.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: Jennifer Gardner.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm telling you, I've never seen all three of them in the same room at the same time.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_03]: They probably have for like the Oscars or something that I don't care.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_03]: I've not personally seen it.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_03]: My fourth pick, Bad News Bears.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's a two for one.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's like the longest yard.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_03]: You get two for one.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_03]: I get a two for one here with the Bad News Bears.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: The OG.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: And then what's the other one with a guy in landman?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: Billy Bob Thorden.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: That's something of some really Bob Thor.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_03]: I get both versions.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going bad news bears.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: Adam, you get your I believe final two picks here.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let me wrap around.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: This is tough.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: There's some great contenders in here that I think I will leave on the board for everyone.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: I want to costner in my portfolio.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: So this is a worse movie than the ones that have been picked.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll take for a lot of the game.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Also for Tatcher, John C. Riley, as an Yankee fan, it does paint me to pick the movie about an aging pitcher who finds this fastball one last time in Yankee Stadium.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_02]: Billy Chapel, I consider baseball stadiums to be chapels.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: The symbolism is obvious there.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: A little too obvious.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: Again, this movie is not very good, but I am picking it.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: And then my final selection is way less heavy handed.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a huge Cape Codlie baseball fan, so give me some or catch, Freddy Prince Jr.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: Romance on the island between the Chattam A's player and a kid come local.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: I actually don't remember how the plot goes, but fun to see a rom come set there, and you don't get too many of those in the game of baseball.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not a huge baseball movie buff either.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted some or catch, I'll take it.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so I'm going with a movie that I knew no one was gonna pick.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_03]: This movie has 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, okay?
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I know, I get it.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: People don't like this movie.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_03]: Bernie Mac, Mr. 3000.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of good movies still on the board.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: Give me Bernie Mac in Mr. 3000, okay?
- 22:31[SPEAKER_03]: I told you, I'm going to send a file.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you're a final movie.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: See, now this is hard because there are so many good ones left on the board.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, got a little big league.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: You got to review the year.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that was a thought that Mr. 3000 got was an option over those movies.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, here's, here's the thing though, is that both of those, I think are a little bit more like classics.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to have to go with Adam down the the rom com route and I'm going to have to go with fever pitch.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a really cute movie.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's a very cute movie about, you know, it's Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore and he's in love with baseball and gets her to fall in love.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, specifically the Red Sox gets her to fall in love with it.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: it ends up kind of coming between their relationship, but also weirdly ends up bringing them together.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's a cute movie, and I'll go with that one.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, we left a lot of great classics on the board.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure we're getting called very nice names only in the comment section right now.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_03]: Give us a review.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_03]: Give us your thoughts.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_03]: Let us know who won what movies did we forget.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_03]: Sterling Holmes, Adam Wynreb, Emma Lingan.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: Until next time, we are out.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go ahead because it's a little awkward, but I will just take you with the first pick.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_02]: I am prone to, I am pro-sharp shooter.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: I was a huge fan of yours there at your career, and I don't want to put you in the position of having to take yourself, so I'm going to go ahead and do it.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: Adam Wider with fans that had here with Diana Tarasi, you know, speaking of your, you content here, obviously this school has produced a ton of mega stars.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: I was wondering if you might do a quick re-round draft with me of the best you Con women's players of all time.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think we can do like three rounds of that.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's impossible, but I'm going to go ahead because it's a little awkward.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: I will just take you with the first pick.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: I am prone to I am pro sharpshooter.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: I was a huge fan of yours there at your career.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't want to put you in the position of having to take yourself.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go ahead and do it.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: But who would you take first overall after I go ahead and select you?
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: I would take stew.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how could you not go with with with what's stew?
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, winning four, you know, NCAA championship some four years.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's unmatched.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's incredible what stew we did at Connecticut.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're I've got some I'm a Liberty fan.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I've got some Liberty in my pocket.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: I could choose to.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I'm going to do here.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think I might taper back a logo.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, just because I got to the list of legends is lengthy, but if you're going to take studio, I'll take her back.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so it's my turn.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: Then I will take my amore, which to be was set the standard on competitiveness, bringing her a game every single night, playing big and big moments.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm taking my amore.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right, and then you're leaving your team USA teammate super on the board for me.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I will take her third, who are you going to round out this draft with?
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: OK, well, I'll go this generation and I'll take my girl page,
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, my tough is cut.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, cut.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: They did not get cut fell to you and then fell onto the right team, but we could have gone forever there.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think these are too pretty unbeatable three on three is everybody way in the comments to let me know where where we land.
