- 0:42Speaker 2: And I'm Bo and we here the l indorsement.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Hello everyone, How are you, buddy?
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm doing good, pal uh, just living the life up here,
- 0:55Speaker 2: getting excited for a little tanksgiving. Oh yeah, I guess
- 1:00Speaker 2: this will come out later than that. It doesn't matter.
- 1:01Speaker 2: They know how things work, they know it goes. Yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 2: just to pump for that. How about you? How are you?
- 1:08Speaker 2: I'm doing good. We started up the Christmas shows?
- 1:11Speaker 3: How those been they've been okay. I was battling a cold,
- 1:14Speaker 3: which I'm finally finishing.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So it's just no fun on the road when you're
- 1:21Speaker 3: just feeling yucky and totally just having to navigate.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Singing through that is just the worst.
- 1:26Speaker 3: It's the worst in the whole world.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's just so much more bandwidth, like thinking about it,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, you're just being like, Okay, how can I
- 1:34Speaker 2: do this without cracking or whatever the case may be,
- 1:36Speaker 2: right exactly. Yeah, so that was a big bummer.
- 1:39Speaker 3: But what's not a bummer is that my my oldest
- 1:45Speaker 3: my little puppy is twelve years old.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Dang twelve.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I just had her twelfth birthday. That's yeah, that's wild, dude,
- 1:56Speaker 3: isn't that crazy?
- 1:58Speaker 2: It's wild to me. I gotta imagine it's for you.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's wild for me.
- 2:01Speaker 3: She's still just like so spunky and like hasn't really
- 2:05Speaker 3: slown down too much, which is really fun. We brought
- 2:10Speaker 3: her to pet Smart and got a little to have
- 2:14Speaker 3: these little like doggy birthday cakes. It got her some
- 2:19Speaker 3: toys and just like, yeah, she's just the sweetest.
- 2:22Speaker 2: She's such a sweet girl. Man, she's been just that's wild, bro.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I mean, I can't guess that makes sense, right, because
- 2:32Speaker 3: it was like it was we were still kind of touring,
- 2:38Speaker 3: like in the van and stuff.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Maybe maybe it was the r vase it was before
- 2:42Speaker 2: you got married.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Then, right, Yeah, that was like right, at the same time.
- 2:49Speaker 2: That's what I remember too.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's wild. I know, such a sweet girl though.
- 2:55Speaker 2: She's the best. That's awesome, she's the best. It's exciting.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Did she like birthday cake? She did?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Didn't didn't go well later because we all got to
- 3:08Speaker 3: we all got to enjoy how that kind of messed
- 3:10Speaker 3: up her tummy a little bit. Then, Yeah, it's like,
- 3:15Speaker 3: it's fine. You deserve to be a little gassy.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You're fine. Man.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Those dog farts, though, they can clear out a room, bro,
- 3:23Speaker 3: really can.
- 3:24Speaker 2: They really can? They are wicked. Have you seen any
- 3:29Speaker 2: movies lately? I have? I watched an okay movie? Oh okay,
- 3:37Speaker 2: it was.
- 3:38Speaker 3: It's on Prime and it is called Playdate.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I don't know that I would.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Recommend because the story is pretty dumb and some of
- 3:48Speaker 3: the dialogue is terrible.
- 3:49Speaker 2: However, it's got.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Our guy Alan Richson, who we like from Reacher, and
- 3:56Speaker 3: Kevin James and.
- 3:57Speaker 2: They oh it's that okay.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they're a pretty fun duo. And have the
- 4:03Speaker 3: material been a bit stronger It could have been. It
- 4:06Speaker 3: could have been pretty great. Sure, sure, sure, And I
- 4:10Speaker 3: did like I liked their chemistry. It was fun. But yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't say, hey, you need to see this, but
- 4:20Speaker 3: I was on a flight on my way home from
- 4:22Speaker 3: the first set of Christmas shows and it was good
- 4:25Speaker 3: for that. I probably wouldn't go out of my way
- 4:28Speaker 3: to see this one. I always have the hardest time
- 4:31Speaker 3: with these recommendations because I'm like, you know, I haven't
- 4:36Speaker 3: seen some just amazing classic movies. And then I'm still
- 4:41Speaker 3: just like, oh, Kevin James and Allen Richson and something.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna watch that right away, Like.
- 4:47Speaker 2: You know, Sophie's Choice is a better movie. But it's
- 4:50Speaker 2: not like it's going to be fun to watch them,
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Yeah, sometimes we just want
- 4:55Speaker 2: to you know, it's like reading a magazine or something
- 4:58Speaker 2: over Warren Peace.
- 5:00Speaker 3: It's right venue for the rep situation. Yeah, I working
- 5:05Speaker 3: with here. If that sounds like something that you'd be interested.
- 5:09Speaker 2: In, check it out. It was okay. I feel like
- 5:13Speaker 2: I probably will at some point. I hear some of
- 5:16Speaker 2: these movies though, I'm like, oh, yeah, that's a that's
- 5:18Speaker 2: a straight to streamer.
- 5:20Speaker 3: That's a streamer.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I get it. Okay, Yeah, great for sure, that's what
- 5:24Speaker 2: this is. That's fun. Yeah, I like it. What have you?
- 5:28Speaker 3: What was the last movie you watched.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I went to the theater and saw a crazy movie.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It was really fun. It's called The Running Man. Oh
- 5:38Speaker 2: tell me? Yeah, So this is the new Glenn Powell film, uh,
- 5:42Speaker 2: directed by Edgar Wright, which I think we talked about previously,
- 5:46Speaker 2: because I was surprised that that was what was happening. Uh,
- 5:51Speaker 2: really different than the first Running Man, which I found
- 5:54Speaker 2: I heard that. Yeah, I found out this is closer
- 5:56Speaker 2: to the original, like because it's a step k book
- 6:00Speaker 2: I think, or short story. It's one of it's Stephen
- 6:03Speaker 2: King wrote it. Whatever it is. It's pretty wild, it's
- 6:08Speaker 2: pretty crazy, but it is. I really enjoyed it. I
- 6:11Speaker 2: don't think it's like an incredibly like great movie, but
- 6:17Speaker 2: it's super duper fun. And if you're there for like
- 6:20Speaker 2: a you know, just like a shoot him up with
- 6:23Speaker 2: a lot of charisma going on, you're gonna have a
- 6:25Speaker 2: great time. I really really liked it. It's just like
- 6:30Speaker 2: you know, it's it's an action movie. There's plot stuff
- 6:33Speaker 2: that doesn't necessarily make like a ton of sense, but sure,
- 6:36Speaker 2: if you can overlook that, you're gonna have a great time.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I know I did, And you know, Glenn Pala just
- 6:42Speaker 2: continues to kill it. He loves movies where he can
- 6:45Speaker 2: get in a disguise.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Was he doing some accents too and stuff?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah? I think he does do a couple accents and stuff,
- 6:52Speaker 2: which he does it. It's like, I get it, that
- 6:54Speaker 2: would be fun to play around. Why not, you know
- 6:56Speaker 2: you're a big star, do it?
- 6:58Speaker 3: Did you see him on SNL because he was he
- 7:00Speaker 3: was promoting Running Man.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I need to watch that. I heard it was really
- 7:03Speaker 2: good though, Right.
- 7:04Speaker 3: It's the first one that I've seen start to finish
- 7:07Speaker 3: live in so long.
- 7:09Speaker 2: That's right.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Yeah, he gets to show off some more accents and
- 7:13Speaker 3: and his physical stuff, and it's really he's a really
- 7:17Speaker 3: talented guy.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, it's a The like plot line is
- 7:22Speaker 2: is a they go kind of a little more it's
- 7:26Speaker 2: hard to say more dystopian, but they go slightly more
- 7:29Speaker 2: dystopian in this one. It's it's a little bit hunger
- 7:32Speaker 2: game z. Which did you watch the first Running Man?
- 7:36Speaker 2: A lot? I watched a ton I was super ever
- 7:38Speaker 2: saw it once. No, that's so wild. That's you know,
- 7:41Speaker 2: just the ones we miss. But yeah, uh that one,
- 7:45Speaker 2: that one's a little more insular. This one builds the
- 7:47Speaker 2: world a little bit more, which is fun. Yeah, I
- 7:51Speaker 2: really enjoyed it. I thought it was really fun. Uh
- 7:53Speaker 2: and it's a it's got the Edgar right, like he
- 7:57Speaker 2: knows how to action pack and action see he shoots.
- 8:01Speaker 2: It's so cool, you know, like it's like quick cut
- 8:04Speaker 2: like active. I don't know, it's something about his style
- 8:07Speaker 2: is really it's really a pleasing So yeah, I would
- 8:11Speaker 2: check it out. It's really good. You're gonna have a
- 8:13Speaker 2: good time for sure. Cool. Cool. Have you been streaming anything?
- 8:17Speaker 2: I have?
- 8:17Speaker 3: I've been streaming the most bonkers show. I've watched the
- 8:22Speaker 3: first six to six episodes of The Chair Company on
- 8:26Speaker 3: HBO Max. What in the world is that? It's the
- 8:29Speaker 3: Tim Robinson show.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Ah, that makes sense?
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, okay, it is absolutely insane. It's funny because
- 8:39Speaker 3: we don't get Tim Robinson being as nuts as he
- 8:44Speaker 3: normally is. Sure, but the entire plot line is ridiculous,
- 8:49Speaker 3: and all of the supporting characters are way out there
- 8:53Speaker 3: and they're doing more like Tim Robinson esque thing.
- 8:58Speaker 2: So he's like.
- 8:58Speaker 3: The ballast exactly.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah, as much as he can be a straight man,
- 9:11Speaker 3: but it also has just this like underlying stress throughout
- 9:15Speaker 3: the whole thing. It can be kind of stressful. Some
- 9:19Speaker 3: really funny things go down as well, kind of dark,
- 9:24Speaker 3: just kind of weird. It's it's all based around this
- 9:28Speaker 3: one incident that happens that he just completely obsesses about
- 9:33Speaker 3: and then needs to dig deeper, and it's just it's crazy.
- 9:38Speaker 3: It's really crazy.
- 9:40Speaker 2: That's funny, and it's just active now. So like there's new.
- 9:45Speaker 3: There's eight episodes total that will be out, but I
- 9:48Speaker 3: think maybe the seventh is.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Out currently, so the probably by the time, by the
- 9:54Speaker 4: time this comes out, it'll be you were going to
- 9:57Speaker 4: say the same thing, You're good good, Well, that's cool.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I might have to check that out. I don't do
- 10:03Speaker 2: you think this is a good intro to Tim?
- 10:07Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, because dude, the I think
- 10:10Speaker 3: you should leave. Did you watch those now?
- 10:12Speaker 2: I really should? I don't know. I don't know why. Yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 2: full disclosure, only because I think this comes up in
- 10:20Speaker 2: the episode. We're recording the opening after we did the
- 10:24Speaker 2: episode with Sammy, so I think we talked about it.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So it's just breaking my brain. I felt like I
- 10:29Speaker 2: had just call that out, as I said later, As
- 10:34Speaker 2: I said later, wait for it, you guys. I just
- 10:37Speaker 2: never I never have delved into his stuff. I don't
- 10:40Speaker 2: know why I'm not. It's not like intentional, it's just
- 10:43Speaker 2: kind of like just have it.
- 10:45Speaker 3: So yeah, his stuff, it's it's just interesting.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 3: And but he just does so many different things and
- 10:52Speaker 3: this now is just so different from that different brand,
- 10:55Speaker 3: so it's it's hard to say gotcha. Like Sammy mentioned later,
- 11:00Speaker 3: Friendship is a is really out there and crazy as well.
- 11:07Speaker 3: One thing that's funny is that he keeps getting really
- 11:11Speaker 3: attractive women to be his counterpart, smart smart, his love interest.
- 11:17Speaker 3: He has Kate Mara in in Friendship, and in this
- 11:21Speaker 3: it's Lake Bell, so it's just oh.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Man, and they're both so good. Lake Bell is so
- 11:26Speaker 2: funny too, Yeah, so funny. They both are pretty Yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 2: that's she's really funny. So yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Check it out his on HBO Max. Yeah, that's all
- 11:36Speaker 3: I got. It's it's not super long episodes either. It's
- 11:39Speaker 3: like thirty to forty minutes.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Oh cool, that's nice. Yeah, nice to plow for room
- 11:44Speaker 2: sometimes cool.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, what have you been streaming?
- 11:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna cheat and just do another theater film, but
- 11:51Speaker 2: I went and saw Roof, ma'am. Have you heard of
- 11:53Speaker 2: this movie?
- 11:54Speaker 3: The Channing Tatum one?
- 11:55Speaker 2: It was only in the theater for a hot minute.
- 11:57Speaker 2: We just happened to catch it. That's the right time. Yes,
- 12:01Speaker 2: Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst. Stanfield is in it, which
- 12:08Speaker 2: is really Tony Revelorie, who you'll know is Flash from
- 12:13Speaker 2: the Spider Man films. Oh yeah, his like butt head
- 12:19Speaker 2: enemy kind of guy. You know, those are kind of
- 12:23Speaker 2: the only giant names I remember from being in it,
- 12:26Speaker 2: And giant is probably overstating, but people would know this
- 12:30Speaker 2: movie was really interesting. I liked it a lot, I
- 12:34Speaker 2: will admit I sort of thought I was getting into
- 12:36Speaker 2: a different film than what it ended up being. I thought, so, like,
- 12:40Speaker 2: the the shtick is, this is a really smart guy
- 12:44Speaker 2: who has never like applied himself, right, And he is
- 12:49Speaker 2: in jail and breaks out and he's called the roof
- 12:52Speaker 2: Man because he that's how he broke into all these
- 12:56Speaker 2: places that he burgles, and he then like breaks out
- 13:01Speaker 2: and stays in a in a store for an extended
- 13:05Speaker 2: period of time while he's like hiding it. That's like
- 13:07Speaker 2: the stick, right, And I thought it was going to
- 13:09Speaker 2: be kind of like a little bit of a thriller,
- 13:12Speaker 2: but mostly just like a kind of lighthearted comedy romp
- 13:15Speaker 2: about living in a store. That's not really what it
- 13:18Speaker 2: is in a nice way. I guess maybe I should
- 13:22Speaker 2: have known because Kirsten Dunst is in it and she's
- 13:24Speaker 2: such a great actor. But it's a little more serious
- 13:27Speaker 2: than that. It's about like love that kind of morphs
- 13:31Speaker 2: and comes into the story and then a man trying
- 13:33Speaker 2: to like make changes in his life and do the
- 13:36Speaker 2: right thing. It's it's pretty interesting, but it was just
- 13:40Speaker 2: darker than I thought it would be, and you know,
- 13:44Speaker 2: more drama, I guess. Yeah.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I thought it was more lighthearted as well when I
- 13:48Speaker 3: saw the trailer.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Like the trailer makes it look like it's like, oh,
- 13:52Speaker 2: he's gonna you know, he's eating peanut m and ms
- 13:54Speaker 2: all the time, because that's what the food is that's
- 13:56Speaker 2: in the you know. And it does have moments that
- 13:58Speaker 2: are really funny and great. Peter Dinkla is also in it.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I should have said him, he's great. I forgot that
- 14:05Speaker 2: he was also in this movie. Yeah, how fun. But yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 2: it was good. I definitely recommend it to folks, but
- 14:12Speaker 2: just know going in like it is a more of
- 14:15Speaker 2: a serious movie. There's some boohoo's in it and stuff
- 14:17Speaker 2: like that, and but I thought it was really good.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Channing Tandem. I really like him as an actor. I
- 14:22Speaker 2: think we've talked about him a number of times, but
- 14:24Speaker 2: I think he's really good and funny and pretty charming.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, I think Chan's great.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I call him chand because you are.
- 14:34Speaker 2: It's deal. We're not on that level yet, you know.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I still call.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Him mister Katum when we text. It's a it's a
- 14:40Speaker 2: whole thing. But yeah, worth checking out for sure. But yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 2: what do you think should we do if you plug
- 14:48Speaker 2: our runs?
- 14:48Speaker 3: I would really like that?

- 16:06Speaker 3: Yeah we might be doing the sequel. That's kind of
- 16:09Speaker 3: fingers crossed. It's the hope can make that work.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. It'd be fun, So stay tuned
- 16:15Speaker 2: for that. But we're here to talk about, as we've said,
- 16:17Speaker 2: the twenty twenty four phenomenal film Wicked, And we really
- 16:23Speaker 2: had no choice on this one. As we said, I
- 16:26Speaker 2: think we I think I spoiled it already. But Sammy
- 16:29Speaker 2: is our guest here, and she watched it and was like,
- 16:32Speaker 2: I love this film. You must have me on it.
- 16:35Speaker 2: So it made it really easy on us, so so easy.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Let's welcome her back. She's she's wonderful, she's unlimited, she's perfect.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Let's use Sammy corrupted. What's up, Sammy?
- 16:48Speaker 5: Hello, Hi, it's good to see me. Isn't it.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Good to see you? You're flay started out.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I even planned that. I just thought of it right now.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I love that. That's great. I just thought you meant it,
- 17:04Speaker 2: and then I realized it's from the movie.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Oh buddy, I'm hi.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Are you.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I am doing I'm doing really well. I'm on break
- 17:17Speaker 5: from work. I have seen the second Wicked movie. I
- 17:23Speaker 5: me too.
- 17:24Speaker 2: That is guys, don't say anything. I want to talk
- 17:27Speaker 2: about it so much rop time yet. Okay, that's fair.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I won't say anything, but I will say that
- 17:34Speaker 5: it's keeping me afloat that movie alone. Right now.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I love that. I love that. One thing I wanted
- 17:43Speaker 2: to ask you right away, because you're such a reader.
- 17:46Speaker 2: You can go to Instagram the reading Jones and follow
- 17:49Speaker 2: your reading account. Have you read the source material for
- 17:52Speaker 2: this phill up?
- 17:53Speaker 3: That's a good question. I thought so too.
- 17:56Speaker 5: Yes, of course I have. I Actually it was my
- 18:00Speaker 5: last read of twenty twenty four, but I think it
- 18:03Speaker 5: took me through January a little bit to finish. So
- 18:05Speaker 5: I read it this year technically.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And.
- 18:10Speaker 5: It is very different than both the stage play and
- 18:16Speaker 5: the film. Interesting, very dark, very like not for children.
- 18:24Speaker 5: When they made the Broadway musical, they took they took
- 18:27Speaker 5: the book and based on its themes, created something that
- 18:31Speaker 5: everyone could enjoy and also that children could learn from
- 18:37Speaker 5: because I think, you know, I'll get into it. But
- 18:41Speaker 5: this story has so many lessons that are so important.
- 18:44Speaker 5: But the book is like strictly for adults.
- 18:47Speaker 2: And very interesting. I'm intrigued by that. I can't talk.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I got to remember we're talking only about the first one.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry. This is my fault. It's also my fault.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I haven't said what we're talking about. We're talking about
- 19:02Speaker 2: Wicked from four. Yeah, it took the world by storm.
- 19:08Speaker 2: We can all agree, and we're so happy to have
- 19:11Speaker 2: you here to chat about it. This is the best
- 19:13Speaker 2: was the book just called Wicked.
- 19:15Speaker 5: It's called Wicked, The Life and Times of the Wicked
- 19:17Speaker 5: Witch of the West. I believe.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, cool, okay, thanks, love it, and you're perfect
- 19:23Speaker 2: for this music theater like book stuff, brilliant, you are magical.
- 19:29Speaker 2: This is all guys, this is all great. Really.
- 19:33Speaker 5: I was telling Robin Beeks before we started recording ies
- 19:36Speaker 5: made for this moment, like literally when Wicked came out,
- 19:40Speaker 5: I was like, let me know the second you're filming,
- 19:42Speaker 5: because I'm ready. I'm doing I'm ready the podcast.
- 19:46Speaker 2: And we were like, wow, people so rarely are interested.
- 19:49Speaker 2: This is great.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Yes, we're on board because I could. And I said
- 19:54Speaker 5: to Adam earlier today, I was like, they're going to
- 19:56Speaker 5: have to tell me when to stop talking because I could. Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 5: He he knows firstand he's just in there listening to
- 20:03Speaker 5: me go on and on and he's just nodding.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I told him. I was like, hey, I'm sorry, we're
- 20:09Speaker 3: gonna have to take Samy away for a few hours
- 20:12Speaker 3: on Tuesday. And he was like, yeah, she wants to
- 20:14Speaker 3: watch the movie with me Monday night. Thanks a lot.
- 20:20Speaker 2: He really dominated his couple of days here. That's okay, Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 2: thank you.
- 20:25Speaker 5: I am. I am working on a PowerPoint for him.
- 20:30Speaker 2: To like apprise him of the situation before the next one.
- 20:33Speaker 5: Yes, because I love that and I without without like
- 20:39Speaker 5: spoiling anything. The second movie was so good that I
- 20:44Speaker 5: need him to appreciate it enough. So I'm laying the groundwork.
- 20:48Speaker 5: I'm explaining things. I'm giving him the loure I'm giving
- 20:50Speaker 5: him so.
- 20:51Speaker 2: That, oh he'll like that. That's can Can I be
- 20:55Speaker 2: copied on that?
- 20:56Speaker 5: Sure? I can send it out.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I don't. I need to watch it again because I
- 21:01Speaker 2: didn't have that strong of a response, and I want to.
- 21:06Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, there's there's a lot of little gifts for
- 21:08Speaker 5: the people who have seen the show on Broadway, and there's.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I do bet that, which is have you ever seen
- 21:15Speaker 2: this show the musical?
- 21:18Speaker 3: Okay, I did it in Chicago. I didn't get to
- 21:20Speaker 3: see it on Broadway. I saw in Chicago and did
- 21:23Speaker 3: the lottery thing and.
- 21:24Speaker 2: And you've seen it, Sammy, right, it's I don't know.
- 21:30Speaker 5: I didn't get to catch aDNA and Kristen.
- 21:35Speaker 2: But gotcha.
- 21:36Speaker 5: I listened. I wore that soundtrack out when it first
- 21:41Speaker 5: came out, and then I did see it on Broadway
- 21:43Speaker 5: and was just like.
- 21:46Speaker 2: It's got to be so fun on stage.
- 21:49Speaker 5: It really is. It really is. It's beautiful. It's such
- 21:52Speaker 5: a like it's it's magical to watch on stage. So yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 5: I mean I've loved it forever forever, and so I
- 22:04Speaker 5: almost feel like watching it on film like I need
- 22:07Speaker 5: to see it a few times, both the first one
- 22:10Speaker 5: and now having seen the second one for the first time,
- 22:13Speaker 5: I like need to go see it again because it's
- 22:15Speaker 5: it feels like it's so and aside from just Wicked,
- 22:19Speaker 5: like Wizard of Oz was like one of the first
- 22:21Speaker 5: movies I ever saw.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I played with.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Dorothy when I was a dancer. We did like a
- 22:28Speaker 5: production of Wicked, and I was Dorothy like, it's so
- 22:32Speaker 5: in my DNA that like it's hard for me to
- 22:35Speaker 5: absorb the movie for the first time because I'm just
- 22:39Speaker 5: like the anticipation of seeing this thing that I've dreamt
- 22:42Speaker 5: my whole life about is like it's overwhelming. So yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 5: it's this is this is this whole film coming out
- 22:52Speaker 5: has like just meant so much to me. I love
- 22:55Speaker 5: it so much.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I love that love for this is unlimited. I'm sorry,
- 23:01Speaker 2: let into it, gang Rop, maybe you want to get
- 23:04Speaker 2: it started with just a rough.
- 23:06Speaker 3: SYNOPSI sure misunderstood because of her green skin. A young
- 23:12Speaker 3: woman named Alphaba Forge is an unlikely but profound friendship
- 23:16Speaker 3: with Glinda, a student with an unflinching desire for popularity
- 23:22Speaker 3: following an encounter with the Wizard of Oz. Their relationship
- 23:26Speaker 3: soon reaches a crossroad as their lives begin to take
- 23:30Speaker 3: very different paths.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Nice, nice, love it. Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes. Hear
- 23:37Speaker 2: what they have to say. Critics have it coming in
- 23:39Speaker 2: a pretty rock solid eighty eight percent. Oh solid, that's
- 23:43Speaker 2: better than the what's the last one we did twenty
- 23:46Speaker 2: twenty three years.
- 23:48Speaker 3: We've done a couple stinkers lately, but we liked him though.
- 23:52Speaker 2: We did that. Audience members have this even higher than that.
- 23:57Speaker 2: They have it at ninety five.
- 24:01Speaker 5: That makes sense.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Rash hot rash Uh, it is hot, and it's time
- 24:07Speaker 2: for our hot hot take. Oh that's a hot take.
- 24:12Speaker 5: That's a hot take.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Ah. I didn't think of anything.
- 24:17Speaker 3: We gotta think about stuff, dude. We've had a few
- 24:20Speaker 3: bad ones here. Yeah, something's hot.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, it's the bubble they ate that's
- 24:28Speaker 2: by sea sandwich and then they got bubble Guts and
- 24:30Speaker 2: that's what she's traveling around in. I don't know what
- 24:32Speaker 2: you want from me. I'll go first here. I really
- 24:37Speaker 2: like this movie. A ton I am a big fan
- 24:40Speaker 2: of Wizard of Oz. In general, I'm a fan. I
- 24:43Speaker 2: feel like people people will go like crazy for Wizard
- 24:46Speaker 2: of Oz. So I don't know, Yeah, I'm a big fan.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I feel like that's like our friend Lust is a
- 24:51Speaker 2: crazy super fan and has forever as well. Uh So
- 24:55Speaker 2: I don't want to misrepresent myself, but I liked it.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I love the source mat I love this movie. This
- 25:03Speaker 2: this iteration of it is a ton of fun. I
- 25:06Speaker 2: think it is wildly colorful and just energetic, this whole
- 25:10Speaker 2: movie in the best ways. I think it's a super
- 25:14Speaker 2: fun I love when we get source material that everyone
- 25:18Speaker 2: knows and we just do like little little twists on
- 25:20Speaker 2: a new retelling of it. I think that's really fun
- 25:23Speaker 2: when it's effectively done. Just really like that. The themes
- 25:28Speaker 2: in this of you know, that sort of tried and
- 25:30Speaker 2: true theme of like not feeling like you belong and
- 25:33Speaker 2: feeling like the world is also agreeing with you, and
- 25:36Speaker 2: then also finding your place and just finding your voice.
- 25:40Speaker 2: You know. It's a coming of age story in a way,
- 25:42Speaker 2: even though they're both maybe they're supposed to be younger
- 25:45Speaker 2: in the play, but they both seem like adults to me.
- 25:48Speaker 2: But maybe that's just me.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Is basically high school. Oh I think No, I guess
- 25:53Speaker 5: university is college, gotcha?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Okay, so that makes sense. But yeah, that that storyline
- 25:59Speaker 2: is always just so great anyway. And you know, we
- 26:01Speaker 2: love a coming of age story here on this podcast,
- 26:03Speaker 2: so we sure do. We're big We're big fans of big,
- 26:06Speaker 2: big fans. But yeah, I just think honestly that the
- 26:10Speaker 2: biggest thing in this, aside from the actors, who I know,
- 26:14Speaker 2: we'll talk about a bunch, is just the energy in
- 26:17Speaker 2: this and just the I feel like you can really
- 26:20Speaker 2: tangibly tell how much they love this source material from
- 26:24Speaker 2: the Wizard of Us originally Wicked, the book, also the
- 26:28Speaker 2: you know, the stage show, Like it just felt like
- 26:31Speaker 2: a lot of people getting to getting to do what
- 26:34Speaker 2: they love, and that is that is palpable. I feel
- 26:37Speaker 2: like in this tons of great actors, tons of great
- 26:40Speaker 2: stuff going on, and some great tunes too. So I'm
- 26:44Speaker 2: a huge fan of this movie. I think it is
- 26:47Speaker 2: a ton of fun. My hot take, oh, I don't
- 26:53Speaker 2: really have one. I don't I don't know. I couldn't
- 26:56Speaker 2: really think of a hot take other than I'd never
- 26:58Speaker 2: seen the show and I didn't look up how the
- 27:01Speaker 2: second one was going before I went, which is not
- 27:04Speaker 2: usually I'll do a little read through, you know, for sure,
- 27:08Speaker 2: you know, just to see, but I didn't do anything.
- 27:10Speaker 2: So yeah, that's my tip and take very tepid, buddy.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Nice job.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I had very similar to you, like usual. I
- 27:22Speaker 3: thought this is such an incredible film. I thought it
- 27:24Speaker 3: honored the stage show so well was able to make
- 27:28Speaker 3: it even better with the incredible production design and the
- 27:31Speaker 3: amazing visual effects. It was nominated for ten Oscars. It
- 27:37Speaker 3: won two for Production Design and costume Design. I was
- 27:42Speaker 3: directed by John m chu who also directed Crazy Rich
- 27:47Speaker 3: Asians in the Heights and a bunch of music videos,
- 27:51Speaker 3: so he was set up pretty well to do a
- 27:55Speaker 3: big musical production like this.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Stephen Schwartz is responsible for the credible score.
- 28:01Speaker 3: He is a musical theater royalty after creating Godspell and
- 28:06Speaker 3: Pippin and of course this.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I was completely blown away by the two leads, not
- 28:15Speaker 3: only with their extremely impressive vocals, but also their acting
- 28:20Speaker 3: was bonkers. Yeah, yeah, I thought it was just it
- 28:24Speaker 3: was really fun. They gave all the nons to the
- 28:26Speaker 3: originators of the musical, with Stephen Schwartz making an appearance
- 28:31Speaker 3: and both Kristin Chenowien and Dina Menzel having their stepouts.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I really liked that they did that.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, hot take.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Sometimes turning a stage musical into a movie doesn't work
- 28:42Speaker 3: very well. Sometimes it's meant to be on the stage
- 28:45Speaker 3: and it can lose some of its magic. But this,
- 28:49Speaker 3: I think just takes it to a new level. I'm
- 28:52Speaker 3: so happy that a musical that means so much to
- 28:56Speaker 3: so many people came out as amazing as it did.
- 28:59Speaker 2: It had very high.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Expectations and I think it met them. And everyone clearly
- 29:04Speaker 3: put just so much time and so much love into
- 29:06Speaker 3: this project, and it shows love it.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Hot take, Pal, hot things, Thank you all right, Sammy,
- 29:14Speaker 2: the floor is yours.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Okay, And like I said, you might just have to
- 29:18Speaker 5: stop me at some point, I take my takes aren't
- 29:21Speaker 5: so hot as they are just enthusiastic. I guess my
- 29:26Speaker 5: one hot take would be anyone who like any criticisms.
- 29:32Speaker 5: I respect if people don't like things, especially like if
- 29:38Speaker 5: they have a valeries and not just like that I
- 29:40Speaker 5: like it. I don't like care very much, man, but
- 29:44Speaker 5: I've I've I'm so immersed in the conversation surrounding this
- 29:47Speaker 5: film that when I see a valid criticism, I'm like,
- 29:51Speaker 5: you're wrong.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 5: My hot take is I accept zero criticism of these films.
- 29:59Speaker 5: I I have in like thought about every criticism I
- 30:05Speaker 5: have heard and been like, no, I actually I disagree
- 30:08Speaker 5: with that. I'm not just being defiant, Like I think
- 30:11Speaker 5: these films are perfect, and this film maybe even especially so,
- 30:17Speaker 5: because it set the stage like it is something that
- 30:22Speaker 5: we have been waiting for for so long, and and
- 30:27Speaker 5: they showed us right out at the gate that they
- 30:30Speaker 5: were prepared to they were ready for this, like they
- 30:34Speaker 5: and like like like you said, it was a bunch
- 30:37Speaker 5: of people coming together who loved what they did, from
- 30:42Speaker 5: John M two to Ariana and Cynthia down to like
- 30:48Speaker 5: the people who planted the fields and apparent, yeah, apparently
- 30:55Speaker 5: all of the like all of the Emerald City was
- 31:01Speaker 5: like functioning, like there were they made, they made snow
- 31:05Speaker 5: globes for the little like outdoor carts they made, like
- 31:09Speaker 5: the salon was fully operational, like crazy. The amount the
- 31:14Speaker 5: attention to detail that was put into this is unlike
- 31:18Speaker 5: anything I've seen, and it just it was it felt,
- 31:25Speaker 5: like like I said, like a gift to the fans
- 31:28Speaker 5: of this musical, like no stone was unturned and and
- 31:33Speaker 5: and A. I think you can feel the love that
- 31:36Speaker 5: was put into it, but I think you can feel
- 31:39Speaker 5: the the care, the attention, like the fact that like
- 31:43Speaker 5: so little of this is CGI, Like if this was
- 31:47Speaker 5: made by someone else, we might be seeing a lot
- 31:49Speaker 5: more CGI and a lot less practical effects, all the
- 31:54Speaker 5: makeup everything. It was just stunning visually. Then, like if
- 31:59Speaker 5: you're getting into like the emotions of it, here, here's
- 32:03Speaker 5: maybe sort of a hot take. I think Alphaba should
- 32:07Speaker 5: have always been black.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, it's kind of wild that it wasn't
- 32:12Speaker 2: that way. I'm with you because it's exactly that makes sense,
- 32:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Yeah, And it's it's gotten to this point where like
- 32:19Speaker 5: the source material and this is part of my PowerPoint,
- 32:22Speaker 5: so buges you're getting a previews, it's it's gotten to
- 32:28Speaker 5: the point where the source material was so sacred for
- 32:31Speaker 5: so long, and for this to not only meet that
- 32:36Speaker 5: level but surpass it, and like for me far surpass
- 32:42Speaker 5: it is kind of been blowing my mind, like like
- 32:47Speaker 5: now this is wicked to me, When for so long
- 32:50Speaker 5: I was like, please be precious with this because it's
- 32:53Speaker 5: so sacred, and now now this has become what Wicked
- 32:57Speaker 5: is to me, Alphaba like since Thea's portrayal, and I
- 33:01Speaker 5: know we'll talk more specifically about each actor, but definite,
- 33:06Speaker 5: it feels like she should have always been black. It
- 33:09Speaker 5: makes so much sense to me. And yeah, I I
- 33:15Speaker 5: loved viewing it through that lens, and I love the
- 33:19Speaker 5: message of this story I feel like in Alpha ba
- 33:25Speaker 5: so but I also do really love Glinda's arc and
- 33:29Speaker 5: I and I'm excited for Rob and everyone else who
- 33:32Speaker 5: hasn't seen for Good yet to see where her art
- 33:35Speaker 5: continues to go. I think hers is a really important
- 33:39Speaker 5: story for a lot of like most of like Alphaba's
- 33:44Speaker 5: are not the norm, Glinda's are kind of more the norm,
- 33:47Speaker 5: and I think her story is really really important. Yeah,
- 33:53Speaker 5: I'm gonna stop myself there. I I just I can't
- 33:58Speaker 5: say enough good things. I love this deeply.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I love it. Hot hot take I thought of a
- 34:05Speaker 2: hot take during that. And I know you don't like
- 34:07Speaker 2: you don't want to hear criticism, Okay, yeah, just give
- 34:10Speaker 2: me a chance. I just want to say the one
- 34:13Speaker 2: bad part about this movie. Those blonde eyebrows just do
- 34:17Speaker 2: not work for and as a person with blonde eyebrows,
- 34:21Speaker 2: it made me very self conscious. I don't know, I
- 34:23Speaker 2: don't like, no, I'm just kidding, but they I'm just
- 34:26Speaker 2: every time I looked at her, I was like, man,
- 34:28Speaker 2: those are definitely died, for sure died. And that's weird
- 34:33Speaker 2: to say in a movie where someone has all over them.
- 34:35Speaker 2: But it's it's through me. It's through me, And I.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Don't know why, because you know that she's not blonde.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 34:42Speaker 3: It's just like with that complexion.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I don't really washed her out, as she's obviously beautiful
- 34:49Speaker 2: and great and you know, like, but yeah, as a
- 34:52Speaker 2: person with clear eyebrows, I was like, come on, come on,
- 34:56Speaker 2: come on, you feel bad. That's all I got. Shall
- 35:03Speaker 2: we talk about our favorite acting performance. Shall we name
- 35:06Speaker 2: the dude the dude?
- 35:09Speaker 6: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 35:11Speaker 6: know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
- 35:17Speaker 6: el dudo reno if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 35:21Speaker 2: But Sammy, you get to go first.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Cynthia Rivo is my dude. It's the way I will
- 35:34Speaker 5: give credit to like the fact that this is for
- 35:38Speaker 5: the camera and and not for the stage, that maybe
- 35:46Speaker 5: the stage Alphaba's wouldn't even have this opportunity. But she
- 35:50Speaker 5: plays Alphaba so contained and like steely and reserved, and
- 35:57Speaker 5: it's I I And this is why I say, I
- 36:01Speaker 5: feel like she it should have always been a black woman,
- 36:04Speaker 5: because I feel like I feel her lifetime of understanding
- 36:09Speaker 5: being othered watching her just her slight facial expressions, her
- 36:17Speaker 5: like just putting up with just aggression, microaggression after micro aggression,
- 36:23Speaker 5: just like and just internalizing it. It. It was really
- 36:30Speaker 5: beautiful and I know that like a lot of people
- 36:33Speaker 5: were so shocked by Ariana Grande's performance because they weren't
- 36:37Speaker 5: expecting it of her, so she got a lot more
- 36:41Speaker 5: talk like buzz but and kind of for me as well,
- 36:46Speaker 5: because I knew Cynthia Rievo was gonna be perfect. Right,
- 36:49Speaker 5: But I I I have now seen this movie, I
- 36:54Speaker 5: think nine or ten times, and it's awesome. Her arc
- 36:59Speaker 5: every time like gets me like she sold it and
- 37:07Speaker 5: it's just she is Alphabet now in my brain, like, oh.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Have back. I did not know.
- 37:19Speaker 5: I guess you didn't hear the doorbone heard.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Someone say that's great.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Adam will be home soon and he.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Can on the way he does something.
- 37:36Speaker 5: But yeah, I just I I literally, I think that
- 37:39Speaker 5: she was so this was so lived in for her
- 37:45Speaker 5: and so like realized, like she it was masterful to me.
- 37:49Speaker 5: So she is, my dude, I.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Love that you have.
- 37:53Speaker 3: That's amazing. I of course picked her as well. She
- 37:58Speaker 3: has one of my favorite voices of all time. I've
- 38:01Speaker 3: said this a few times on the pod. She is
- 38:04Speaker 3: just she has a perfect tone and one of the
- 38:08Speaker 3: best live vocal singers I've ever I've ever heard. It's incredible.
- 38:15Speaker 3: And I've also said this a few times, but I
- 38:17Speaker 3: was introduced to her in a clip from The Color Purple,
- 38:21Speaker 3: the Broadway show where she out saying Jennifer Hudson, which
- 38:27Speaker 3: I thought was insane because Jonifer Hudson has an incredible voice.
- 38:33Speaker 3: But yeah, it's the best alphaba I've ever heard by
- 38:41Speaker 3: a lot. But not only vocally. She just she acted
- 38:46Speaker 3: her ass off those scenes where she's got tears streaming
- 38:50Speaker 3: down her face. Yeah, And like you said, Sammy, she
- 38:55Speaker 3: keeps it so contained in the beginning and even vocally
- 39:02Speaker 3: and then by defying gravity, you're just like there it comes,
- 39:07Speaker 3: and it's just like it gets me charped up just
- 39:09Speaker 3: thinking about She's just incredible. She's perfect, She's perfect love
- 39:16Speaker 3: that and also sorry she she told Sammy that she
- 39:22Speaker 3: looked great at this words. I just had to say
- 39:25Speaker 3: that again. I keep bringing it up.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Now, that's a great point.
- 39:28Speaker 3: We saw she in theorevo and she locked eyes with
- 39:32Speaker 3: Sammy and it was pretty cool.
- 39:34Speaker 5: I have thought about that moment so many times over
- 39:38Speaker 5: the last year because I already loved her. But I
- 39:44Speaker 5: think I said to Adam today, I was like, I
- 39:47Speaker 5: am so lucky she said that to me when she did,
- 39:50Speaker 5: because I would have lost it. I would have lost it.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Yeah. This is before we saw her in Wicked, right, Yeah,
- 39:58Speaker 3: this was before.
- 40:00Speaker 5: This was two cmas ago, so she was like they
- 40:03Speaker 5: were starting to promo it.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and she just like she.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Was like your beautiful and I was like, oh, which
- 40:19Speaker 5: I took as like like she liked my outfit because
- 40:23Speaker 5: she's a fashion girl and I was wearing this like
- 40:27Speaker 5: kind of uh asymmetrical, like kind of see through dress
- 40:31Speaker 5: and I felt like I looked kind of different and
- 40:36Speaker 5: she know, which is so alphabet of her she I
- 40:40Speaker 5: think she that's what I was thinking that she was
- 40:42Speaker 5: noticing that, like, oh, you're not in like a glittery dress,
- 40:46Speaker 5: and I like, like, what you're doing, and so she
- 40:48Speaker 5: complimented that, and I was I like, literally squeezed down
- 40:53Speaker 5: his hands so hard, and I was like, please tell
- 40:56Speaker 5: me you saw that. And then I was thankful that
- 40:58Speaker 5: you and Kelsey did because I was like laboration.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Was. I felt like I was just as excited as
- 41:04Speaker 2: she was. I was like, oh my god, if that
- 41:10Speaker 2: was six months later, you were to just burst into
- 41:12Speaker 2: tears or something like.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Yeah, so that I I don't know why we're talking
- 41:22Speaker 5: about this. I'm a mind blanked, but yeah, that was moment.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I just brought it.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Wanted to dude, and why is she here?
- 41:31Speaker 2: Dude? Yeah, it's a clean sweep. I agree with basically
- 41:34Speaker 2: everything you guess. I think other than Rob one Quist
- 41:38Speaker 2: of Home Free, she's the best singer on planet earthp No,
- 41:44Speaker 2: I never will get rid of me. She's awesome. I
- 41:51Speaker 2: totally agree with everything you guys said. I had a
- 41:53Speaker 2: comment to you, and I obviously I don't I don't
- 41:56Speaker 2: know anything about acting, but I assume you can get
- 41:59Speaker 2: away with those smaller things with the eyeball of the
- 42:02Speaker 2: camera being right here as opposed to stage where it's
- 42:05Speaker 2: you know, however many feetback. But her I loved when
- 42:10Speaker 2: you were talking about her like trying to hold it
- 42:13Speaker 2: in both of you. I just thought, yeah, that's what
- 42:15Speaker 2: it was. She was like a like a teapot just
- 42:18Speaker 2: like it was boiling, you know, like it was it
- 42:21Speaker 2: was so close to that one degree of difference, you know,
- 42:24Speaker 2: and have to keep like tempering it back. I just
- 42:28Speaker 2: think she's magnificent, and in a movie with other great
- 42:32Speaker 2: performances that are wonderful that we will soon talk about,
- 42:36Speaker 2: she was even a step above all that. I mean,
- 42:39Speaker 2: she's just perfect, perfect perfect. I don't yeah, I don't
- 42:43Speaker 2: have anything else to add other than she kicks ass.
- 42:46Speaker 3: She's awesome.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Good call. Let's talk about some of those other folks though.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Show we name the Tucci, the tootill hard Sammy, who'd
- 42:54Speaker 2: you have for your tea? Well?
- 42:57Speaker 5: I try to always when we when I'm on the podcast,
- 43:00Speaker 5: think of someone like truly like what the Stanley Tucci
- 43:03Speaker 5: word means to me, which is like someone who just
- 43:05Speaker 5: like comes in maybe not like a huge role. But
- 43:12Speaker 5: if you've seen my Instagram lately, I made a whole
- 43:15Speaker 5: TikTok about this. I well, TikTok and real, I guess,
- 43:18Speaker 5: but I if there are no Jeff Goldbloom as the
- 43:23Speaker 5: Wizard fans I am dead because I.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Talk about also perfect.
- 43:30Speaker 5: Thank you. I think he is perfect in this role,
- 43:35Speaker 5: and watching it again today, I was like I wanted
- 43:38Speaker 5: to watch specifically with that in mind that I was like,
- 43:41Speaker 5: I just made a video like talking about how perfect
- 43:44Speaker 5: he was, Like do I actually believe this?
- 43:45Speaker 2: Let me?
- 43:46Speaker 5: Let me watch again? And I was like, yeah, no,
- 43:48Speaker 5: I literally I can't imagine anyone else in that role.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Never seen it. I've seen it. I've never seen it
- 43:57Speaker 5: performed like the way that he did. Like they've always
- 44:01Speaker 5: been like sort of whimsical, but not Jeff Goldbloom is
- 44:04Speaker 5: it is in a category of his own, and I
- 44:12Speaker 5: it's twofold. It's like there, I think it's Oz would
- 44:16Speaker 5: have never allowed this person to come in from obscurity
- 44:23Speaker 5: and then become their leader if he wasn't so charming
- 44:27Speaker 5: and quirky. So I think that's so so important to
- 44:31Speaker 5: his character.
- 44:32Speaker 2: But also, oh, were getting into spoiler territory.
- 44:37Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:38Speaker 2: I get you. I get you. We can just just
- 44:42Speaker 2: move past that.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 5: What what I will say is that no, I don't
- 44:52Speaker 5: want to say anything else.
- 44:56Speaker 2: I love it. I refuse to talk.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Sim thank you for being so conscious of it, though,
- 45:04Speaker 3: I really.
- 45:05Speaker 5: That's awesome because especially because you know.
- 45:08Speaker 2: It so well, like not to go ahead.
- 45:10Speaker 5: I get that the they did like a special like
- 45:14Speaker 5: a Wonderful Night in Oz or something special.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Cool.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't see it yet.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I didn't either.
- 45:19Speaker 5: I refuse to watch it just because I was like,
- 45:22Speaker 5: I don't even want to hear how they sing the songs.
- 45:24Speaker 5: I don't want to hear the choices they make because
- 45:27Speaker 5: I hate spoilers. So yeah, I don't want to do
- 45:29Speaker 5: that to anyone else.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I can't watch trailers anymore, I know.
- 45:35Speaker 3: And because they've made it so that you see the entire.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Moment, they really lay it out for you now, Yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 2: for sure.
- 45:42Speaker 3: But yeah, very appreciative of that.
- 45:44Speaker 2: That that's a great pick.
- 45:48Speaker 3: So yeah, I kind of feel like we should have
- 45:50Speaker 3: probably just gone into Ariana Grande right to Jason, you know,
- 45:58Speaker 3: because I mean, she was so us off. She clearly
- 46:02Speaker 3: listened to this so much growing up. She sounds so
- 46:06Speaker 3: much like Kristin Chenowith in her higher register in this stuff.
- 46:10Speaker 2: That's yeah, you just know that she has sung along
- 46:15Speaker 2: to this her whole life. When she's such a mimic anyway.
- 46:25Speaker 3: But yeah, I was. I was really impressed with her
- 46:28Speaker 3: operatic tone. It was really really professionally done. But she
- 46:35Speaker 3: also just completely embodied the character. I can't really imagine
- 46:39Speaker 3: a better performance from someone else, and I'm sure that
- 46:44Speaker 3: the list was very long of people who wanted that part,
- 46:50Speaker 3: but yeah, I can't imagine anybody else. She was so good,
- 46:53Speaker 3: she was perfect. So yeah, just crazy, go ahead, Sammy.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Well, I was just going to say, like, I know,
- 47:00Speaker 5: because I've seen every interview they've done. I know that
- 47:04Speaker 5: she has been pretty much like manifesting this her whole career,
- 47:12Speaker 5: Like she's every chance if you like look through her
- 47:17Speaker 5: or like if see interviews and like compilations. The amount
- 47:20Speaker 5: of time she would bring up Wicked throughout her career
- 47:24Speaker 5: say I'll do anything, I will do anything, and then
- 47:27Speaker 5: or like now she says, like I she's Ariana Grande.
- 47:32Speaker 5: She's so famous. She can go to the head of
- 47:35Speaker 5: Universal or whatever Mark Platt is and bother him to
- 47:40Speaker 5: be like, hey, whenever you're starting to audition for Wicked
- 47:44Speaker 5: right here, like yeah, okay, So she was constantly I
- 47:49Speaker 5: feel like her whole life she was preparing herself for
- 47:51Speaker 5: this and and actually when she found out, when her
- 47:55Speaker 5: like team found out that they were starting to do
- 47:59Speaker 5: auditions for Wicked, she put her Ariana Grande career on
- 48:04Speaker 5: hold and started training for like six months before her audition. Crazy,
- 48:10Speaker 5: like the the work ethic is like like, like you said,
- 48:16Speaker 5: it's it's someone who loved it so much. And yeah,
- 48:22Speaker 5: I she she blew my mind. I was so surprised
- 48:26Speaker 5: by her. She Yeah, I can't picture anybody. And I
- 48:32Speaker 5: know of a few actresses who like got close and
- 48:35Speaker 5: every all those names. I'm like, no, I can't even imagine.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Right, right. Uh. She's also so great at playing the
- 48:42Speaker 2: like vapid, you know, like that undertone under it, but
- 48:47Speaker 2: also in a very likable way, you know what I mean. Still,
- 48:51Speaker 2: if she tells that line so well, yeah, she's just
- 48:55Speaker 2: hysterical on this. It makes me think of her SNL
- 48:58Speaker 2: bits where when people were surprised she was funny. I
- 49:01Speaker 2: was like, guys, did we not watch that? How do
- 49:04Speaker 2: we not know?
- 49:05Speaker 5: That?
- 49:05Speaker 2: So good on a number of different things. But yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 2: it was just a few people that you know, I
- 49:13Speaker 2: guess just forgot that or never saw it. But I
- 49:16Speaker 2: think she's awesome in this, and you know, if if
- 49:20Speaker 2: the goddess cyn the Arena wasn't also in this, we
- 49:24Speaker 2: would have applauded her even more. I think so.
- 49:27Speaker 5: Well, what I will say is the first act of
- 49:33Speaker 5: the show of Wicked is the is alphab becoming wicked like?
- 49:40Speaker 5: And the second act is Glinda becoming good?
- 49:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 49:47Speaker 5: Glinda gets her moment.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Later yeah them, Yeah.
- 49:53Speaker 5: But this movie felt like really like Cynthia's arc or
- 49:57Speaker 5: Alphaba's arc, whereas Ari's arc as Glinda is a longer one.
- 50:03Speaker 2: Totally yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, she was awesome. You want
- 50:08Speaker 2: to say yeah for otherwise I would have said.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Jeff Goldbloom as well. The only other person I would
- 50:13Speaker 3: say that also would have been an amazing wizard, but
- 50:15Speaker 3: probably like twenty years ago, would have been Christopher Walkin.
- 50:19Speaker 3: That's the only other person that I could love that see,
- 50:22Speaker 3: just because you need somebody like super original, like absolutely,
- 50:28Speaker 3: what about.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Our guy Jack Black. I really think he could it
- 50:31Speaker 2: be a different wizard.
- 50:32Speaker 3: It would be so much fun.
- 50:34Speaker 2: I think he could kind of do it, And.
- 50:36Speaker 3: I mean I would love to see it really, you know,
- 50:40Speaker 3: and when you go there, then it's like, well, Will
- 50:42Speaker 3: Ferrell would be hilarious too, just like there it could
- 50:44Speaker 3: be great, but I was just kind of picturing, you know,
- 50:47Speaker 3: Jeff Goldbloom has such an iconic delivery, and it's just
- 50:52Speaker 3: there's nobody else like Jeff Goldblum, right, because.
- 50:56Speaker 2: They're both have that kind of dancery vibe too. Because
- 50:59Speaker 2: wasn't walking to answer first, totally think right, So that's
- 51:03Speaker 2: a good call. I like that a lot.
- 51:05Speaker 3: But I had him too. But then my my runner
- 51:07Speaker 3: up would have been Jonathan Bailey. I thought that I
- 51:09Speaker 3: wasn't familiar with his previous work, but I thought he fiero. Yep,
- 51:17Speaker 3: I think he just won Sexiest Man Alive as well.
- 51:19Speaker 5: He makes me giddy.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I.
- 51:24Speaker 5: Love that gay man so much.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he is wonderful.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I mean he totally looked the part. He has to
- 51:30Speaker 3: be that like egomaniac but also show like a bunch
- 51:35Speaker 3: of empathy and like really.
- 51:37Speaker 2: With me too.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and he had he had a pretty strong voice
- 51:41Speaker 3: as well and moved really well. And yeah, I thought,
- 51:46Speaker 3: I don't know, I've only seen him in that Jurassic
- 51:49Speaker 3: Rebirth after.
- 51:51Speaker 5: I was familiar because he was he like came to
- 51:54Speaker 5: fame in I think he did stage stuff. Maybe I'm
- 51:57Speaker 5: wrong about that, but he came to fame in Bridgerton,
- 51:59Speaker 5: which I did not see.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Or something, but.
- 52:05Speaker 2: I've heard that now that you say that, that rings
- 52:07Speaker 2: a bell.
- 52:07Speaker 5: But he like came into the show not in the
- 52:11Speaker 5: first season, and people were like, who is this man?
- 52:18Speaker 5: But yeah, I didn't know him until Wicked and I
- 52:20Speaker 5: was like, we'll see and I fell in love with him.
- 52:25Speaker 2: You were like, well, we saw and that was awesome.
- 52:29Speaker 2: It was great. Uh uh oh. Sorry.
- 52:35Speaker 5: One more thing about Jeff Goldboom's character is I I
- 52:41Speaker 5: think Christopher Walking is also a perfect like fits this mold.
- 52:47Speaker 5: But like so I saw a tweet that was like,
- 52:50Speaker 5: did they just did they not even hand Jeff Goldbloom
- 52:52Speaker 5: a script? They just like just stuck because he's so
- 52:58Speaker 5: like he's not from oz like he he and we
- 53:04Speaker 5: know that I think we like that's not from the
- 53:08Speaker 5: second part, Like that's just we know he comes from
- 53:11Speaker 5: somewhere in the Midwest and.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Is it omaha he says omaha.
- 53:17Speaker 5: Yeah, oh maha. I think he's Nebraska.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Oh ma.
- 53:24Speaker 5: So I like the whole point is that he doesn't
- 53:27Speaker 5: really fit in with these care like he is quirky
- 53:29Speaker 5: and weird and different and he he's just a guy.
- 53:33Speaker 5: From the Midwest to like a Carneye from the Midwest,
- 53:38Speaker 5: you know, like I love that he's so weird and different.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's really great. I love all those pics.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Those were all people on my list. I thought Bowen
- 53:51Speaker 2: Yang was really fun as so much fun friend and
- 53:56Speaker 2: I think there's some trivia later about I think it
- 53:58Speaker 2: was Ariana that's suggested him for the part, and that's
- 54:02Speaker 2: usually a lady right like it's a it's a pair
- 54:07Speaker 2: of ladies that are like the best friend, supplicants or
- 54:10Speaker 2: whatever they are. So that's really fun. I thought that
- 54:12Speaker 2: worked really really well, and I thought he was He
- 54:15Speaker 2: was very silly and great.
- 54:16Speaker 5: It's so funny.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Rob a person we saw on Broadway. Kala set set
- 54:28Speaker 2: all right, I wrote down, Yeah, I forgot fun to
- 54:30Speaker 2: see her. We saw her waitress back in the day.
- 54:33Speaker 2: She's also the bearded lady right in. She didn't get
- 54:40Speaker 2: to do much in this, but it was just fun
- 54:41Speaker 2: to see her. And I sort of took that as
- 54:44Speaker 2: like they were like, oh, yeah, she's amazing, let's just
- 54:46Speaker 2: get her involved and find out on.
- 54:48Speaker 3: What I understand, that's not even a role.
- 54:51Speaker 2: That's crazy made it the part for her.
- 54:52Speaker 3: That's fine, Yeah, that's fun.
- 54:55Speaker 2: I like that.
- 54:55Speaker 3: It was super cool. H And then she's got a
- 54:58Speaker 3: monster voice too.
- 55:00Speaker 4: I know.
- 55:00Speaker 5: I was like, how are you going to put her
- 55:02Speaker 5: in a show?
- 55:02Speaker 2: And I guess at it is pretty wild, yeah, honestly.
- 55:09Speaker 2: And then another great voice. But I think just for speaking,
- 55:12Speaker 2: I've never heard anything but Peter Dinklish was He's just
- 55:15Speaker 2: that was so great.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Love did you not see that syr No movie, like saying, dude,
- 55:21Speaker 3: it's like it's a musical.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Oh fun? No, Yeah, well that's cool. Uh yeah, and
- 55:31Speaker 2: everyone the the whole I will say I watched on
- 55:35Speaker 2: one of my rewatches. I watched, like I tried to
- 55:37Speaker 2: just watch the background folks, like the chorus folks, because
- 55:41Speaker 2: I was sort of like, I assume all these people
- 55:43Speaker 2: are badasses that have been in a ton of stuff too,
- 55:45Speaker 2: I'm sure, and they were having a blast and I
- 55:49Speaker 2: really liked that part too, So just shout out to
- 55:51Speaker 2: all them. I don't have others, but.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Yeah, well and Michelle Yo, while not having like a yeah,
- 56:00Speaker 3: a strong singing voice, she got the job done.
- 56:06Speaker 2: But yeah, she's clearly not a singer. Yeah, but yeah
- 56:12Speaker 2: she uh. I thought she was really good in the
- 56:15Speaker 2: scenes badass though, and absolutely not the worst singer we've
- 56:19Speaker 2: seen cast in a Russell still has that as far
- 56:23Speaker 2: as I know.
- 56:26Speaker 5: That was way worse and like, yeah, like not a lot.
- 56:31Speaker 5: I think probably in total she had maybe maybe ten
- 56:35Speaker 5: lines of vocals.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Yeah right, right, okay, pretty overlookable, right, like okay, and
- 56:43Speaker 2: she's the best, so and she's the best. Is the best.
- 56:46Speaker 5: I've always been, like, even as someone who did the
- 56:51Speaker 5: musical theater route and like got my degree in theater, like,
- 56:56Speaker 5: I have always cared so much more if the actor
- 56:59Speaker 5: can convince me that they're feeling what they're saying that
- 57:02Speaker 5: like it being technically perfect.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Absolutely so I love that.
- 57:07Speaker 3: I just guess it's a huge role like jove air
- 57:10Speaker 3: when it means to be an amazing vocal.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Yes, so bad. It was terrible.
- 57:24Speaker 5: I just got out some candy tat and I realized
- 57:27Speaker 5: it's pink and green.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Oh did you guys notice I'm wearing a green shirt.
- 57:32Speaker 3: It's the only green shirt I.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Have finally doing it.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Guys, Oh my gosh, really pink and green flowers?
- 57:40Speaker 2: Oh my god, stop it? My though is something to see?
- 57:43Speaker 5: Stop it?
- 57:48Speaker 2: I'm the wicked witch. Now that's weird. I don't know
- 57:53Speaker 2: what it was any other people.
- 57:54Speaker 3: We have to say for the do you listed everybody
- 57:58Speaker 3: that I was gonna name?
- 58:00Speaker 2: Let's move forward. Then let's talk about our favorite scene?
- 58:02Speaker 2: Shall we name the dingus? So think this is quite simple,
- 58:07Speaker 2: really dingus dingus. I could talk about my dingas all
- 58:10Speaker 2: night long. I'm gonna kiss you. What's your favorite scene? That?
- 58:13Speaker 2: This is not easy to pick, It's.
- 58:16Speaker 5: So not I have three listed. Mmm, Okay, I'm gonna go.
- 58:25Speaker 5: This is maybe a cheat because I chose a song
- 58:29Speaker 5: love It.
- 58:29Speaker 2: That's fine, into it. We've chose always an entire second
- 58:33Speaker 2: half of a movie before.
- 58:35Speaker 5: Yeah, dancing through life sequence Love that was beautiful from
- 58:43Speaker 5: the library to the end of the oss Ballroom is.
- 58:47Speaker 2: So great.
- 58:49Speaker 5: The choreography, Jonathan Bailey's performance, Uh, the emotion, like the
- 58:55Speaker 5: relationship building that happens with uh, not only Alpaba and Glinda,
- 59:02Speaker 5: but Bach and Nessa and Nessa bringing that to Alphaba
- 59:07Speaker 5: and Alphaba going and doing a nice thing for Glinda
- 59:11Speaker 5: and getting morrible to take her into the class, and
- 59:16Speaker 5: then the everything that Alphaba goes through when she gets
- 59:20Speaker 5: there and Glinda like it's so beautiful and it gets
- 59:25Speaker 5: like I have not made it through that scene ever
- 59:28Speaker 5: without weeping.
- 59:32Speaker 2: Yeah, no spoilers, but say, yeah, so it's.
- 59:36Speaker 5: My it's my I think it's my favorite, like overall,
- 59:40Speaker 5: like spectacle of the movie to watch?
- 59:42Speaker 2: Does that include the circular bookcase Stuff's so cool just
- 59:49Speaker 2: from like a choreography and a totally amazing Yeah.
- 59:56Speaker 5: Like I watched We Have We Bought It Wicked digitally,
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: so it came with all of these like like behind
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: the scenes stuff sure, and learned that there's so many
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: shots specifically in that one, Like there's a shot where
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: a guy leaps over and the camera like follows him
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: upside down. That was practical, Like that was like the
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: fun they choreographed that. Oh my god, that's fun.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so good, And so that was going all the
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: way through that like the scene thing.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it's kind of a multiple scenes, but totally Yeah.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: I was so ready to be cringed out by that
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: dance scene and was like on the verge, I was
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: just like, oh god, and then it just like becomes
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: this whole, like really beautiful thing. I had a lot
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: of different feelings in that because I was ready to
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: just be like, oh, this is like this is the
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: part of musicals that I don't like, like, I'm ready
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: to just hate this. And then yeah, I was pleasantly surprised,
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: but yeah, and then even got emotional.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Yeah, oh my god, I was gonna say I I
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: I think they want you to feel that. I think
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: they want you to be like, this is so and
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: then it because that's what that's what everyone who's around
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: hers is feeling. Oh man, that is so moving.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I love what you're saying, though rap where you're like,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: it's like teetering. It's going to be so cheesy, horrible.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Sometimes we see, oh go ahead, I have to.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: I locked down them out so I'll be one second.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: All right, you're good. Like I love the part when
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: someone is like, I don't know, I don't feel like
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: I belong. And then it's like, stop making up dances
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: in the middle of the school dance, you weirdo. It's
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: okay to just hang out by the snack table. It's fine.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we don't need to choreograph our own dance.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: I didn't feel that way, but there was a part
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: like you could make a funny bit about like, I
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: don't know, I just feel like I don't belong. And
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: then she goes in the middle, just like yourself, elbow dance,
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: just step touching step stay there, yeah, do you know?
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: Do you know what that is? By the way them
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: talk about it, so it's uh, both Ari and Cynthia
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: have their own and no one knows what it is.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: But they're spelling something out that means something important to
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: them with their elbow. Cynthia doesn't know Ari's, John doesn't
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: know either of theirs. It's just a personal thing. But
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: they are spelling something out that's meaningful.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, nice. Or they had like rotator cuff injuries
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: and they're like, this is one of the that's a
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: great pick. Rob you haven't said I.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Have not, and mine was easily define gravity, Like yeah.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: I feel like a basic bitch, but absolutely absolutely, I
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: mean everybody, everybody was waiting for this song.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Everybody's waiting for this number. It's clearly the biggest song
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: from the show. But it just was better than I
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: was even hoping for. It just was so incredible. It's
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: the best I've ever heard that song. The visuals are
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: so nuts. When she like slow motion like whips the
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: cape yes you know, and gets that's on the broom
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: and it's like, oh, hell, let's go, let's do this,
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: her flying all over the place.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: There's just so much more you're able to do visually in.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: This film than you were on stage, and it just
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: takes it to a whole other level. There's definitely some
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: boohooing in this for sure.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: And I thought for a movie that did so many
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: things practically, like we've talked about the seag I have,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: like the storm clouds and all that was so cool,
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: like I think her.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, keep going, no, no, her when she is
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: like plunging and seeing her younger self and reaches out
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: and then the broom and just like sick. That's just
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: stuff you can't do on stage. This is incredible.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that. That's also what I would have picked,
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: and that like for nothing else than the and nobody
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: in all of it, like that whole thing and the
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: way she the way she made it her own while
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: still walking the line of like it is the song.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: We know, she didn't take like too many liberties, you
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: know what I mean. Sometimes people can overdo it, and
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: it was just it was perfect. It was right down,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: like you couldn't have done it better. I don't think
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: it's impossible. I loved it so much. And it's obviously
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: like the emotional height as well of that of that act.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: And I'm a weird guy. I like act ones, like
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: generally speaking, way more than X two's. It's probably because
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: I am such a like a boohooer, but I'm just like,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I like a little conflict, but I
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: like to see people really doing doing well and going
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: for it. But yeah, I'm with you, rop. I love
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: that scene a ton. A smaller scene that I really
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: really liked was the Popular song. I've always thought that
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: it's a super funny, silly song. It is one of
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: the most musically songs you know that's in the show,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: which in the best way because I love those but
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: just the like the vocal inflections and they're like friendship
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: slash like kind of frenem me still at that point. Stuff.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: It's really great. I really like that scene a lot.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Dude, that bit when she has her wand and then
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: she's like ball gown and then she's like doing the
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: vocal just like like grunting pretty much. I mean, that
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: is legitimately funny. That was really funny stuff.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that too.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: There are a lot of like in the extras and
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: bonus stuff. There's a lot of like extra just improving
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: stuff that already did from from that scene. It's so
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: she's so funny, it's crazy great.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Uh what were your runner up, Sammy?
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Yeah, One Short Day in the Emerald City. I oh yeah,
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: I think that is my favorite, like the best choreograph
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: number I've ever seen in a film adaptation.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a spectacle. That whole scene was just
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: like whoa what is this is amazing because.
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: The like choreography is so interesting to watch because it's
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: like not it's otherworldly literally, so they're doing these like
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: funky movements. But then also there's people doing different things
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: everywhere you look. It's not just one dance happening Like
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: it's crazy, and it felt.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Like a continuous shot like and it was going through
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: the and maybe it was. It was just group after
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: group after group doing different scenes.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: It was really cool.
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: How in the world did they choreograph this? Like yeah,
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: so just from like a musical theater a loving perspective
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: like that is the most fun thing to look at
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: for me in the whole movie. But and then the emotion,
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: for the emotional side, what the movie opens up with
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: No one warns the wicked pretty much? Is that what
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: it's called?
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: Yeah, with and of course at this moment the first
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: time you're watching it, you don't know everything that comes before,
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: no one more than Cycad, but it just gets It's
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: it's one of those scenes that like every time I
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: watch and now especially having seen part two, the depth
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: just gets deeper and deeper with that scene. It's it's
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: really really powerful and Arid did so good.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Yeah she killed it, Oh my god.
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: So that I think I included that because it was like,
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: it's surprising, I never really cared that much about that song,
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: but yeah, it was. It's a really powerful acting moment.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: M what about you guys.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Other one that I.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Wrote down that hasn't been mentioned was the Wizard and I.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: It really gets to show you're like, Okay, let's see
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: what Cynthia has, and you're like, oh, she's just gonna
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: be so good. She's going to be so good. She
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: kills that so and you know she's got to go.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: It's kind of your typical I'm out and about and
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: I'm singing and I'm fight and total musical song, you know,
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: but it's just so charming and just vocally there's just
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: nobody better.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: And you mentioned Raber like she like she was vocally
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: restrained at points. I think wizard and I is when
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: you can really like hear it. She's when I say immature,
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: I don't mean like you're so immature. I mean her
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: voice sounds younger in that song, less like experienced, like
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: it's I don't I'm not a vocalist, so I don't
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: even know how you approach that. But yeah, I don't
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: know either. Her voice literally sounds like it's like clenched
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: a little. Yeah, it's still beautiful, but yeah.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: Also loathing, I just love that tune. So watching that
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: scene is so fun and that song is so silly
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: and great.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: Is so you know, a lot of musicals have a
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: song like that built in because enemies to lovers is
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: like a big trope in musicals, and usually that that
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: loathing song is written for the romantic couple. So I
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: thought it was really cool that it was. There's also
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: there's some there's some something saffog going on with the
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: two of them, for sure, sure, but I I it's
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: it's it's just another thing that separates this show from others,
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: is that, like this is Yeah, there's a romantic side plot,
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: but it's a side plot. This is about these two
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: and it's I love I love their journey.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: I'm now just thinking about the the bonkers fan fiction
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: that has to be out there about this universe. Holy
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: you know it, you know it, like we got animals
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: talking and so boy.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Anyway, I've got some things to google later. How do
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: we feel do we feel it? I feel pretty good
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: about a duel dingus of the library scene that you said,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: I forget the song. I'm sorry, that's right. Dancing through
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: life and then define gravity. I have to find gravity.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: What do we think? Absolutely, we're into it? Boom see
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Should we start talking some quotes? Is the time to
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: show me the money, Show me the money, show me
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: your first say some quote.
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: I don't really have very many.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: Tough didn't either.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I'm with you to musicals because you want to just
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: like do the song.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, right right.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: I was just going to say, I feel like the
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: best lines are lyrics, but I have a few. They're
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: mostly Ari in the very beginning, when she says to Bach,
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: you know what, I you know what. I believe he's like,
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: what she's like. Strangers are just people I've never met,
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: so great. She delivers it and it's like like it's
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: a profound thing. It's like, yeah, it's just.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: A fact, it's just the definition. But okay, cool.
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: Yeah, like the polite the most polite way to turn someone,
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: like to reject someone. And then in their dorm when
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: she Elbet goes to shut the windows and she's like,
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: oh could you not? I just I so enjoy air.
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: She like.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: The hair flot thing thing right, like that's straight from
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: the show.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I think so. I mean it's so like
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: it's it feels like it's like legally but like it's
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: so that that girl, you know.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: She's stiff, but like Corre, I love.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: Okay, uh whatever they put it in the they put
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: it in the movie. There's there's there's there's a line
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: when uh Fierro and Alphaba first meet and she's so
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: she's so defensive with him, but then at the end
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: she walks away and she goes gets stuffed, And.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: For reasons. I mean, I feel like.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: That's what I'll say. I love it after right before Popular,
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: when Alphaba and Glinda have been talking all night and
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: sharing vulnerable stuff and then Ari looks Glinda looks out
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: the window. Look, it's tomorrow. It's so cute. And that's
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: that's a line from the play that she was like,
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: I'm saying that there's a lot I meant to say this,
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: but like there's so much that specifically Cynthia and Ari
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: have advocated for like nope, we're keeping that from the play,
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: Like there's uh, there's a lot like that. And then
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: my the last one I have is it's in the
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: middle of defying gravity, but it's this like a talking moment.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: It's when our uh Glinda says, sings to her you
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: can you can have all you've ever wanted and the
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: way I mean I've heard it a million times. Yeah,
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: I know the way, like because it's in the song.
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: I know, but I don't want it the way Cynthia said,
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: as I know. Yeah, she she's like I know, like
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: like she knows her power now, like she doesn't need
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: to be convinced of like I know, like yeah, because
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: because I feel like every alphabet I have seen is
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: like grappling with the like like saying that line more
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: grappling on the side of like I know, like it's
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: still really hard to let this go. But Cynthia was like,
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: I know, like I'm more powerful than him, Like I
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: don't want that, and it was, Oh, it moves me.
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: I have goosebumps just thinking about it. And it's just
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: I know that's the shortest sentence. She's so those are
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: all I out.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Those are great.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: The Wizard saying the best way to bring folks together
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: is to give them a.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Real good enemy. Amen. Amen, that one. That one works
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: a lot. Glinda, something is very wrong.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: I didn't get my way. I need to lie down.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I like that. When she's like running along with the train.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Yes, She's like, I wouldn't want to impose, and she's like,
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: it doesn't it doesn't matter. Just come with me.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: I couldn't possibly. This is your moment. I'm coming. I'm coming.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: That That was pretty cute.
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: I like that.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: Bow and yang.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: She's so brave, such braverism, she felt it felt like
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: he improved it. But also using their goofy language, yes,
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: which I enjoyed.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: Yeah, their wordplay in this in this hole, it's really
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: fun and silly, Like it really brings you back into silly,
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: silly times, which is fun.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: When Glinda is meeting the Wizard and she's like, the
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: gut is silent and he's just like, hello, oh, Linda.
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: I like pretty great.
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: And the last one, uh, when she is showing Feara
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: feara through the library and she's like, and this is
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: the book place.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: I liked that. That's a great one.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: I love that.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: I love when they're in the room and she's like, Elfie,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: can I call you Alfie? And then she's like, and
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: you can call me Ga Linda. She's like, that's your
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: that is your name, and she's like, let's not quarrel.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Just that cot. I love that, just like no. Also,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: they're talking when they're writing the letters and she goes
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: dearest darling, mumsy and popsicle. That made me giggle a lot,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: and I liked it. It was very fun. And then
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: at that I think it's towards the end of that
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: song when they're they're both trying to describe each other
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: and they're like, it's hard to say, and then they're like,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: my roommate is unusually an exceed peculiar and all together
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: quite impossible to describe. And then Alpha but just goes blonde,
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: which is really I.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: Love that moment too. I was just talking about this
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: this morning, but that's such a fun little like moment
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: as a I guess in the screen player in the whatever,
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: no in the in the book, like that's in the
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: musical because they're both kind of not being truthful there, right,
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: Glinda is. The reason she doesn't like her is because
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: she's green and ugly, and but she's so concerned with
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: being seen as good that she's like it's kind of
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: hard to like, she's screaming her way around. And Alpha
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: BA doesn't not like Glinda because she's blonde. She doesn't
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: like her because she's judgmental and you know, entitled, But
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: she's so defiant that she's like and doesn't she has
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: such walls around her heart that she's like that it's
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: too vulnerable to even admit that. So she's like, I
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: just she's blonde. And so they're like both lying about
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: why they don't like each other. And I just love
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: that moment of writing.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Yeah, A moment I really loved. We haven't really talked
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: about her. Vnessa Rose. She was good.
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: Her name is Marissa Bodie. I met her the other day.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: Oh how fun she was at she was at my theater.
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: Oh god, I made a school out of myself. You guys,
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: so I went Day one, which I knew the theater
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: would be packed, but I wasn't expecting there was a
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: group of like twenty four people that went right before me,
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: and a couple of people were in wheelchairs. I didn't
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: think anything of it, but then at the at the
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: very very end, when Marissa's name came up on the screen,
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: they all started screaming like I was like, oh my god,
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: these are her friends. It was like twenty four people
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: there for her. And when I leave the theater, people
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: are like talk like she's there and people are talking
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: to her, and I'm like, okay, I'm like still wiping
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: away my tears and I'm like all right, I like
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: everything in me says to just keep walking. But like
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: she's at a screening on day one, like she's good. Yeah.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: So I was like, I'll just say something because I
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: don't want to, like I don't want to look rude,
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: Like I'm like, call me when Cynthia gets here, like no.
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: So I did go up to her, but I was
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: still like so overwhelmed from the movie that I started
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: getting choked up all lot was talking to her, and
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: then because I didn't want her, Okay, I know what
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: it's like to have to witness someone coming up to
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: someone and gushing and and maybe maybe like putting their
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: feelings a little bit too much on that person. I
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: know I've witnessed it, and so I didn't want to
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: do that. So then because I started getting choked up,
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: I was like, this isn't because of you.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: You're like, oh, I don't mean.
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: I was like, this is it was just the movie
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: and she's like, it's an emotional movie. I was like, yeah,
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: it is, but I just wanted to tell you, and
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: then I don't know, I kind of blacked out for
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: the rest of it. I complimented her. She was kind,
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: but I walked away from that think I was like,
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: I just was like, I'm not crying because of you.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Like right, I want you to know, Okay, yeah, I
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: don't want you to get a big head here. I'm uh,
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: you were you were fine emotional because of what I
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: just saw. Yeah, I love that.
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: I was like, I don't think she thought of it
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: once satter. I'm but I was like, in the moment,
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: I feel like I was one of those people who
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: like the person is.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: Just like okay, yeah, that's awesome.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: But yeah, she was great.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: She is.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: I really liked her and this, Oh.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: I didn't say the moment, sorry, the it's when the
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: might be Cilla comes up and is like in a
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: pusher in the wheelchair and they say in tandem, don't
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: help her slash me. I love that moment so much.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Number one, just from like people I've known that that
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: use wheelchairs and they're just like, hey, don't do that
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: unless we've talked or you know, like whatever. But also
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: just showing there they really the Arcolos sisters, you know,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: despite being treated like very differently from one another. And
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: I just love that moment. I thought it was really
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: really great. Another small, tiny moment, but they did it
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: so well.
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: That's great.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, another one do I Oh, I loved the Alphaba
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: and Fierra. We kind of referenced it. But when she
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: goes into her list, when he first sees her and
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: sees she's green, is what she thinks, right, And she's like, no,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: I'm not seasick, and he's just like, either mine, No,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: I did not eat grass as a child, And he's like,
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: oh you didn't, I did, you know, and just like
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: kind of going opposite and then it's like and yes,
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: I've always been green and the defensiveness is that a
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: recent development? Sure? You just thought he was so he
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: was so great in that moment. That seems really fun too,
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: because he like immediately shows he's not just the heart
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: throb guy, because he's like actually talking to the horse
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: who is his friend. They clearly have like camaraderie. It's
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: not just a you know, all that stuff. So I
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: love that. And then it's early but that are people
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: I think? Is like I mean kind of the sentiment
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: of the show. Right, Yeah, So I just thought that
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: was great. Those were most of the ones I had that,
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: Like we said, love it.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: That's good. Those are good ones.
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: Those are good ones. Well let's move on, let's go
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: to the crying games bugs boohoo moment. Why you probably
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: had many more than I thought. I had a tough
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: time because, for example, in Defying Gravity, I found myself
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: getting emotional like five different times.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's fair.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: So I said, from five to ten times, love it.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: And the first time was when baby Alphaba is taken
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: away and the sweet bear takes care.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Of her, the sweetest that bear deserves a trophy.
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: Absolutely, Yeah, absolutely the end of the Wizard and I
- 1:25:09Speaker 7: absolutely yes, yep, the oz dust ballroom hat dance scene,
- 1:25:18Speaker 7: the ugly hat.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, yes, yeah, when when Glinda puts the
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: flower on Elfie and says, oh Elfie, you're beautiful. Yeah,
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: that is lovely, lovely, And then yeah, I just said
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: so many moments in the last fifteen minutes. It's the
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: Wizard who should be afraid of me? When Glinda gets
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: the cape for Elfie, yes, and yeah, like five times
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: so to find gravity. So that's what I had.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: I love that.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: I didn't know if you were going to have any
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: of the Peter Dinklice is the goat what it was named,
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: doctor Dilman. I didn't know if any of that stuff
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: was gonna I did be emotional, Okay, I don't have
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: any friends.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Well maybe just one that did get me, because that
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: is a beautiful little relationship that's happening.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: There were some good ones there and.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Podcasts, you know, like that's kind of a trope, but
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: it's also just a thing. Sorry, I was gonna say.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: And then like the lion in the cage bit maybe.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Possibly No, that didn't get me for some reason.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: You neither.
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: I don't know you hate lions.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: You hate I actually desperately love the cowardly Lion, and
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: I would love to play him someday. I think that
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: would be very fun. But yeah, no, I don't hate lions.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: I just to test everything there about. No, that didn't
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: get me though, that seemed that specific. One should just
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: go through what I have. Yeah, Su're not wrong. This
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: is a problem with me emotionally. Musicals, especially first songs,
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: get me. So no one mourns the wicked, just like
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: that first the chorus coming in and everything that that
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: got me. That got me real good NESSA and Bach
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: when they say we deserve each other for a song anyway, Yeah,
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: I love that. I love you for a complicated moment
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: in retrospect, but yeah, we'll go on from there. I
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: did make a note basically just the last twenty seven
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: minutes I was crying, so there is that something has
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: changed within me. Obviously. Oh you said the cape, so
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: we had that think of what we can accomplish together.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: It's so great. The line I hope you're happy now
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: that you're choosing this. I hope it brings you bliss
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: just felt so real, especially like anyone who's been in friendship,
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: romantic relationship, whatever where you were like, I guess we're diverging,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: but it's not because we don't care for each other.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: It's just like this road's done now you know it's
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: not for them, but you know, we digress. And then yeah,
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: just the whole defining gravity was just it racked me,
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: rock me. Yeah, se I think that is thirteen.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Well, wow, we've been on a streak of zero.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: So it was good. It felt cathartic.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: Yeah, we needed Yeah, you needed I needed a thirteen.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Listen, if you think the only time I cried during movies,
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: we have not communicated.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: Well, so I have a question about the Bahoo's is
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: is this How many times have you seen Wicked?
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Only twice? And I think I do think if this
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: was a movie I've seen a bunch, it would be
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: way more more. Yeah, he gets weird, like when we
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: did that, that's that was like a million because then
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: it's like it was it's kind of like you're talking
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: where you're like these little moments and you think of
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: the whole breadth of their relationship and stuff.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: So is it when a tear escapes the eyeball?
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it is. It is a continuum of Misty to
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: tears Falling for sure, too ugly crime, which doesn't happen
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: in every movie, but it definitely happens in Endgame for instance.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: The first Yeah, the first time I saw this, I
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: saw it in the theater with Kelsey, and I didn't
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: get that emotional, but it was mostly because Kelsey gets
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: like emotional in movies.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: But not like she got in this really got her.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: It's like she was like sobb and so and it
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: was kind of like and I don't want to be
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: like you're taking me out of this, but it was
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: like I was kind of like are we good?
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: Like do we need to leave? Like is there which
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: is like yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: So it was it was nice being able to see
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: it again just kind of by myself and just like
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: get to feel those feelings, you know.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: What I mean, she's next to you, just like.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: All right, and then but dude, it was so funny
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: because then we went into the car and like we
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: sat in the parking lot for a while, like she
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: was very upset, but not upset.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: Just like she was emotional. She was definitely feeling it,
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: and it was it was pretty fun because I seen
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: her do it from movies before, so it was really
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: so how lovely to have a piece of art touch
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: you in such a love you know, I like that
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: a lot. But yes, it is usually tears falling sometimes
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: because mistery you know, we'll see but I don't. I
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: don't take a lot of liberties with it. It's usually
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: pretty rigit.
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: So I had I don't count my bahoo's this time,
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: but I I've seen. I think I've seen it either
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: nine or ten times. I saw I saw six times
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: in theater and a few times since, and uh, it's
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: it has it's now become like like for me, it
- 1:31:16Speaker 5: takes a lot to like physically get the tears out
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: like I can. I can like choke get choked up
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: real easy. But I was like, Adam, will you just
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: like kind of sit in here and take a note
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: every time I start crying.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: Just watching you like a hawk, that would take me
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: out of it.
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: Be like, well, you know, he he's good about that.
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: He was playing a little game on his and every
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: time I like sniffled or something, he'd kind of look
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: at me in just like write it down.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: That's the best.
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: But so I think there were probably moments that I,
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: like I was choked up, but he didn't notice or
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: like that tears never came out because I only had three,
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: And I was like, I think it's because I've seen
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: it so many times.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: That's how I am too. I think that, honestly is
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: how let's.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: Let's take it easy. I hear the saying. I hear it.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: I heard normal people, is what I heard say normal.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: I'm not saying you said it a lot.
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: Many others would feel.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Balanced people would probably responded.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: No, but I I I thought it would be fun
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: if you could guess which three got me. But I
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: feel like we've mentioned all of the crying moments, had to.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: Sure these of course these are.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: The three that got me, like yeah, yeah, the whole
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: like you said, the last half hour of the movie,
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: just yeah, what are the odds?
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: Dust ballroom dance scene.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: Yes, yep, yep, good call, good shot, good shout.
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: It has been mentioned.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: I'll say that, Okay, m hm, mysel you look beautiful.
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: No, it takes a lot, like I can't just like
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: a single line is.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Not gonna make me cry a little, judge, but I
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: hear you.
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: No, no, no, I wish.
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: I wish it was that accessible.
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: Glinda getting the cape for Elfie that's is that?
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: K Yeah, that's what I thought to the.
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: End of the Wizard and I no, I have in
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: the in the in the previous watches, I have absolutely
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: cried through Wizard, but this time it was no One
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: Wren so wicked because I'm telling you, the more you
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: watch this movie and the second one, that scene becomes
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: so much heavier, so that as probably that scene is
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: the only one in the whole thing that like, I
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: cry more every time I see it because I'm like, oh.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: I love that well very some boohoos. People cry it's
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: good for you. Yeah, and also seek help if you
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: need it, because you know, maybe you don't need to
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: cry all the time. I've said too much. Let's go
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: to some movie t rivia here. Apparently Stephen Schwartz thought
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: to modernize Glinda's Big Number popular by giving it more
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: of a hip hop style rhythm, and like you said earlier, Sammy,
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: Ariana Gronde was like no. She was apparently dead set
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: against the suggestion, and is quoted as saying, absolutely not.
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: Don't do it. I want to be Glinda, not Ariana
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: Grande playing Glinda, so good for her, that would have
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: been worse. I'm maybe better, but it would.
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: Have scared me a lot, So it would have she
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: would have caught so much fuck for that, like as
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: if it was her decision.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Everyone would have thought it was her idea. Everyone was yeah,
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: one hundred percent, let's see. As well as extensive CGI environments,
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: massive practical sets were built for the film's main settings.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: As we talked about John Chu said that he just
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: wanted the world of Oz to feel like a real
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: place for the actors and actresses rather than just computer generated.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: And this includes and we referenced this, but the number
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: is insane. They planted nine million tulips to serve as
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: part of the landscape for munchkin Land, and they did
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: still use video effects for some of those wider shots,
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: but nine million toolips were planted. Practically insane.
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: Fun fact, it was the same man who was hired
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: to he grew the cornfields for Intertellar oh single.
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: Yeah, well they should keep doing that because it does do.
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: It, It really does.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, nine million, that's an insane number. Duo insisted on
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: singing live during filming, and according to director John Cheu,
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: he said, when we were shooting at these girls were like, naw,
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: screw this. Pre records we're going live, which is very
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: brave and cool of them. He was initially skeptical, he says,
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: but since there'd be a lot of wind in their
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: airpipes and just like a lot of moving around and singing,
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: and they basically were just like, yeah, that's what we do. Guy, Like,
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: we're gonna be okay. And I think the movie's better
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: for it, for sure. And it's also crazy impressive that
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: they did that so well.
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: They were like, we you know, there's girls every single
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: night doing that in New.
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: Your City Broadway. Yeah tour, yea. But yeah, so I
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: just think that's really cool. The vocals for the ensemble
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: parts were pre recorded, and they were pre recorded by
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: a number of Broadway performers, including a bunch of the
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: alumni from Wicked on Broadway. So that's really cool. And
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: I think singing those live would be tough, but yeah,
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: so many people. Let's see, Oh, mursa bodie is it body?
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: So you said how you pronounced her. She's the first
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: person in Wicked's history that portrayed nessa Rose that actually
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: does use a wheelchair and has a physical disability, So
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: that's really cool. I thought she did a great.
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: Job and a fact about it comes in act too.
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: But the reason they could never put someone on the
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: stage play who uses a wheelchair is because it's kind
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: of like an ablest storyline. She she like wants, she
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: like has given the power to walk. Yeah, so there
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: could not literally ever be in the way that the
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: stage play is now a wheelchair user.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: Be interesting to see what they do with that in
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: future like revivals now, because because the movie so you know,
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: kind of like the same as like, well, I think
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: she's just gonna be black now alfaba, right makes sense,
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: But yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens with that. Yeah,
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: it'll be neat uh Alphaba. The name of the Wicked
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: Witch was created by taking the phonetic pronunciation of the
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: original Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum's initials LFB.
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: That that was interesting. H To help publicize the film
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: on the day of its UK release, Jeff Goldbloom said
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: in London's is it Saint Pancras? I think that's right
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: International Railway Station playing the piano and drawing attention of
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: the surprised public and tourists. Oh cool, that'll been to
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: just see him out there. He's good? Yeah, is he good?
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: At it.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: He's a jazz pianist, for sure.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: He is just the coolest man on earth. That's so cool.
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: He's really cool.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: According to John Hue, several birds built in the constructed
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: forest set and would sing along with Cynthia Ribo when
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: she was performing I'm Not That Girl, to the point
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: that a production assistants had to project calls from birds
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: of prey in order to quiet the real birds down
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: so they could film. That's amazing.
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: That's amazing, so great.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: The horse Fierro rides on this film is named Jack,
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: and Jack is the same horse that he rode in Bridgerton.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: Apparently Jonathan Bailey felt such a good connection with Jack
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: that when he was making his series, he asked to
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: ride him again, which I think is fun.
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: That's really cute.
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: Good for Jack's agent. Two. The shadow that Alphaba's handmakes
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: when she's training with the Madame Morrible is it's an
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: homage to the famous photo of Margaret Hamilton from the
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: original list of Boss, of course, which is fun. This
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: is the first non Disney musical to gross over a
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: hundred million dollars domestically in its opening weekend. Wow weekend. Yeah,
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: that's crazy. That's a lot of that. That's awesome, but
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: they needed a lot because they had to pay for
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: nine million tulips at least. So during the popular song,
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: Glinda showcases the ruby slippers and then taps them together
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: three times, a homage to No Place Like Home from
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: the original. I also I had I don't remember if
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: I wrote it down or not, but the the ruby
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: slippers and this one are not ruby that was apparently
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: in the source material. They're diamond. I guess they're just
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: white and as part of the technicolor in the first
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: Wizard of Oz, they wanted to make them a color,
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: so they popped more, which I think is pretty fun,
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: and they look so good as rubies.
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: And aside from sticking to the source text, I think
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: they literally don't have the rights to make them, really,
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: I think I I saw somebody chat about that somewhere,
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: like one of.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: The makers of the as Yeah, maybe because they wasn't
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: in the source but it was in the movie, so
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: then that's different. Maybe interesting.
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: Yeah, So they were like, well, I guess we'll just
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: do what they do in the book.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: But that's cool. We talked about there was a lot
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: of ad libbing, which is fun and apparently in the extras,
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: you'll get to see a bunch of that, so go
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: buy it digitally if you won't do it. In order
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: to help the hair and makeup team, Ariana Grande bleached
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: her hair and her eyebrows, and Cynthia reveal, Wow, I
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: don't like the first one, but good for them. No,
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: that's pretty cool. Cynthia also wore green prosthetic ears so
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: that she didn't have to remove her ear rings, which
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: I think is pretty fun, and Ariana Grande admitted to
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: keeping a pair of the fake ears the ears.
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: I did not know that.
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: I think that's pretty silly and fun. John Chu cited
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: fantasy films Pleasantville and The Truman Show as influencing how
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: The Wicked story thematically portrays the land of Oz and
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: I just thought that was really cool and it played out.
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: After I heard that, I was like, oh, I can
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: see pleasant Villain there, you know, in like the way
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: they do things. That's really neat. According to the original
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: Broadway actress of Glinda Kristin Chenna, with the higher Glinda sings,
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: the less sincere she is during No One Warns the Wicked,
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: the number she sings particularly high. Take from that what
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: you will nessa rose is scene wearing the striped socks
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: with the jeweled slippers, also an homage to the original,
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: which is really fun. When doctor Dillmand explains to Elfabo
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: what's happening in Oz, he tells her that the very
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: old authoritarian tactic is to create a common false enemy.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: As we talked about the fact that Dillomand is talking
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: about this, and he is a talking goat, and obviously
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: making a common enemy as someone to blame for something
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: is called a scapegoat, making them a scapegoat. So that's
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: just a fun little wordplay action that's happening there. And
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: then there's a few easter eggs that were listed in
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: this one referring to the original Wizard of Oz that
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: we haven't mentioned. In the opening shots of the film,
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: cameras follow the flying monkeys over a misty waterfall, creating
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: an aridescent rainbow, not of course, to somewhere over the rainbow.
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: In the opening scene, you can see Dorothy Toto, Scarecrow,
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion walking on the yellow
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: brick road. Alva BoA's bicycle with a basket on the
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: back with the little lion cub in it is obviously
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: an homage to Toto being in the bicycle basket. Then
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: we have the ruby slippers. What else do we got?
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: I mean, just the text that says wicked.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: Yeah, totally good call. And when facing the Wizard's animatronic
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: massive head, Alphaba is scared and begins to turn and
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: run the exact same way that the cowardly Lion does
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: in the original. So that was really fun. Oh yeah,
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: so that was all the ones I had. There was
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: a lot, rob did you have any that I didn't say?
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: Just people that were up for other roles I saw
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: the Amanda Seyfried was actively pursuing the role of Glinda.
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: That's pretty wild and she took voice lessons to prepare.
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: But yeah, that didn't work out. Lady Gaga was offered
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: the role of Alphaba. Wow, she decided to turn it
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: down and play Harley Quinn and Joker fully adieu.
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: Gross what a choice.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it didn't work out apparently. Sabrina Carpenter audition twice oh,
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: and said that she was physically flawless and very charismatic performer,
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: she didn't have the vocal range required for the role.
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: Renee Rapp auditioned as well.
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: And I'm sure there were a lot, but those were
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: the ones that I kind of picked out, and for Fierro,
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: I saw that Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, Spencer Sutherland, and
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: Ryan McCartin all auditioned. Mccarton portrayed Fierro in the fifteenth
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: anniversary cast of Wicked at the Gershwin Theater.
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: Ah, lovely, that's cool. That's all I got.
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: I'm glad the roles went to.
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: Who they went to.
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I hear you, Sam. Did we say any
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: other trivia that you have that you need to get
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: out or anything? Yeah?
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: I got.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: I got a few nice I got.
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: In keeping with the like Wizard of Oz homages in
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: Wizard And when she's running on that like wheat field
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: that goes to the cliff, she is like so excited,
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: which I also we don't get to see a lot
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: of alpha, but joy, that's why Wizard of Ice, Wizard
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: and I so nice to watch. But she's like so
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: excited and gets lifted up into the air and then
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: when she comes down, a bunch of bluebirds fly like
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: she like they were in the west And there's a
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: wide shot when she's jumping. I think there's a rainbow.
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: There's a rainbow somewhere in that sect, which I love. Also,
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: this is just like this is from the musical that
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: I did not know until I watched a video of
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: Stephen Schwartz explaining it that I'm not going to sing
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: it but unlimited.
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that's crazy. I heard this too.
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: I say it unlimited My future is like those notes
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: are the same notes as Somewhere over the Rainbow, and
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: it's it's crazy because I've tried so many times as
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: I'm listening to sing Somewhere over the Rainbow, but it
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: sounds so different even though they are the same exact notes.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: I guess it's because of like I don't know the
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: chords underneath it or something. I'm not sure, but yeah,
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: he was like, I kind of you're not gonna immediately,
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: especially if you're not musically trained. Notice that that's those
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: are the same notes because it sounds so different. But
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: I was hoping to infuse a little bit of like
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: a like a spark of something with those.
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: I just love that.
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: I love attention to detail when people are writing like that.
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I know, I have a Oh the flower
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: that Fierro puts in Ari in her hair during the
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: Dancing through Life sequence. She that's the one that she
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: puts on Alphaba at the end of Popular, which is
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: also like like the symbolism under there feels like about
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: the love that exists between the three of them, Like
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: he gives that to her when they're like lusting over
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: each other, but she gives out to her when she
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: falls in love with her best friend. And so there's
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: a lot of like symbolism of the love in that movie.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: Passed through that flower. Oh my gosh, I know, I
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: know there is more, but I think that's all I have.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Like Fresh on the Dome said.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: The unlimited thing because I was I was meaning to
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: bring that up, and I so good.
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: Call Josh Minta.
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: Will there be a sequel?
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: Yes, you guys have seen it. I haven't seen it,
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: and I want to see it.
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: You should, you really should. I can't wait to go again.
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: Wicked for good, right, that's what they're calling. I'll get
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: you back when we do the podcast on it at
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: some point.
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: Please the show. Yeah.
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: Well then, hey, do you guys want to play a game,
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: I made a starting five. I'm going to name five
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: actors from a film. When you know you're going to
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: ring in with your name. There's no negative points for
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: wrong answers. You just won't be able to guess again
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: for that movie. If their actors name is remaining, you guess.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: You can guess those for a point each. If you
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: get any of any of those wrong, the other person
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: can guess for a point. All of these films have
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: something in common. When you know the theme ring in
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: at any time, you can get a point on it.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: Let's do this. Number one. The first name is Roger Bart.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: The second name is Uma Therman. The third name is
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: Will Ferrell. Okay, Number four Matthew Broderick and number five
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: Nathan Lane.
- 1:50:04Speaker 5: Simmy, Sammy, that was fun.
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: I liked all that.
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: What is it? No, No, it's not.
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: Okay Bukes four Bukes, the producers, the producers.
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: Yes, I forgot that, Will Fare. Wasn't that?
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: We were so funny as Franz leap.
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, watch that again. Oh it's so funny. Let's go.
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: Number two. The first name is Johnny Depp. The second
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: name is Chris Pine.
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: Number three.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: Meryl Streep Bukes.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: Wait, damn it, Mama Mia, uh No, see what.
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: Number four.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: Is?

- 1:51:14Speaker 3: Meryl Streep, Emily Blunts. And the fifth and final name
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: is Anna Kendrick. Five four three Sammy, Sammy, No, got it?
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: Is it?
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: Is it.
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: The animated?
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: No, it's not animated. It was what is in the woods,
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: the musicals and the musicals into movies that you said.
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: So you're saying they were Broadway musicals and now they
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: are there, you go, that is what they were.
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: I didn't know what you were trying to Sorry, that
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: is what I was trying to get. Uh yeah, uh
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: so that might help.
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's probably where for me. That mm hmmm.
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: Let's go to number three. The first name is Jamie Fox.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: The second name is Anika Noni Rose Rose. The third
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: name is Eddie Murphys Biggs, dream Girls, dream Girls.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Two names remaining Beyonce Knowles correct and Jennifer Hudson.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: You previously that's absolutely correct, Yes, I did. That's three
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: more points.
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: Let's go number four. The first name is Rita Moreno.
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: Sammy, damn it, Sammy, west Side Story.
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: West Side Story, and uh, this is the new one.
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: And so you have four names remaining.
- 1:53:10Speaker 5: Rachel Zegler, Boom, Nice, Ariana Debos.
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: Boom Academy Award winning Ariana Debos.
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: Did you include Ansel al gort I did?
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: And one name remaining.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: I would have never gotten this. I can't think of
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: who it would even maybe.
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like I don't know the names.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: Two one bigs do you have a name?
- 1:53:46Speaker 5: And no, I do not.
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: It was Mike Faced who was in Challengers as well.
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: That guy.
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's four point interesting. That was that was
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: a big one. Nicely done. Let's go to number five.
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: The first name is Frankie Avalon Bugs Bugs.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: I think he sings beauty school dropout in Greece. Nicely done.
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: Four names remaining. I don't remember anyone's name. Uh that
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: you won't be good at this next parton the same
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: guy is John Travolta Boom. The she's from Dionanda. Her
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: name is the name I know. She's a singer, and
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: also the lady five.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: Four two one Do you know the other names at all?
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: I know a couple.
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: It's j Bartlett's wife.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: I'm I quit okay, Sammy, get you. John Travolta and
