- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Uh huh, I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning everybody. You're listening to the voice, come on,
- 0:09Speaker 2: dig me now. One and only Steve Harley got a
- 0:12Speaker 2: radio show. I was had my head down and it
- 0:18Speaker 2: was thinking of what I wanted to say this morning.
- 0:21Speaker 2: But it kind of, uh, it's kind of be something
- 0:26Speaker 2: I've lived for a long time, and you know, for
- 0:31Speaker 2: a long time, you know, I had a lot of
- 0:33Speaker 2: faith in people. You know. It's strange too, because you know,
- 0:38Speaker 2: you know, my mother was a Sunday school teacher, so
- 0:40Speaker 2: of course I grew up around knowing, uh, scriptures and
- 0:45Speaker 2: things like that. Not not a lot of them, but
- 0:47Speaker 2: you know, the ones I retained. But having her as
- 0:51Speaker 2: a mother was was a huge help and understand about faith.
- 0:55Speaker 2: But even with that, as I grew up, I began
- 0:59Speaker 2: to put a lot of faith in people. And you know,
- 1:03Speaker 2: I figured, uh, you know, just like everybody else, you know,
- 1:06Speaker 2: man if I could just meet this person, or if
- 1:08Speaker 2: I could just sit down with that person, or man
- 1:12Speaker 2: if I could just get this person to hear my ideal,
- 1:15Speaker 2: or man if just if this person could hear my track,
- 1:19Speaker 2: or man if I could just get this in the
- 1:21Speaker 2: hands of somebody in the know, I was like everybody else,
- 1:25Speaker 2: I thought that way. You know, I actually thought that
- 1:28Speaker 2: if I could get in a certain situation with a
- 1:30Speaker 2: certain person, that if a certain person were to meet me,
- 1:35Speaker 2: that you know, it could change everything for me. Oh man,
- 1:40Speaker 2: Oh how wrong I was? Oh how wrong I was?
- 1:44Speaker 2: How long did I spend feeling that way? And how
- 1:47Speaker 2: many of you out there possibly have felt that way before?
- 1:50Speaker 2: You know, like even in a relationship, This is the
- 1:53Speaker 2: person for me, And you know you just lay cling
- 1:56Speaker 2: to that, you know, not necessarily being a fact, but
- 1:59Speaker 2: you just lay to it. This is the person for me,
- 2:02Speaker 2: This is the person that I want to spend the
- 2:04Speaker 2: rest of my life with. You know. Sometimes, you know,
- 2:06Speaker 2: we just lay claim and stuff and it's not always
- 2:09Speaker 2: what's in our best interest or it's not always a fact.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It's just what we decided we want it. And I
- 2:15Speaker 2: was guilty of that, just like anybody else. And I
- 2:18Speaker 2: spent a lot of years in my life putting faith
- 2:21Speaker 2: in people. Man, if I could tell you anything this morning,
- 2:25Speaker 2: it's to stop putting your faith in people and put
- 2:28Speaker 2: your faith in God where it counts the most. I mean,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you can get something out of this one. See, here's
- 2:34Speaker 2: a deal about a relationship with God. It's the same
- 2:38Speaker 2: all the time. He never changes. His word is one
- 2:42Speaker 2: hundred percent absolute. His word doesn't have loopholes in it,
- 2:46Speaker 2: none of that. It's this is what it is. He's
- 2:49Speaker 2: very clear. Now, you can deviate off your end at
- 2:53Speaker 2: a bargain, but it don't stop what he says from
- 2:57Speaker 2: being true. But if he asked you to do something,
- 3:00Speaker 2: if God asked you to be a certain way, to
- 3:02Speaker 2: do a little something a certain way, and you don't
- 3:04Speaker 2: do it that way, then you know, you could still
- 3:08Speaker 2: possibly get by for a while. But don't you understand
- 3:13Speaker 2: that his end of the deal stays the same, And
- 3:15Speaker 2: as long as you're not doing it the way you're
- 3:17Speaker 2: supposed to, the results are not going to be what
- 3:19Speaker 2: you wanted to be. And I did this for years
- 3:22Speaker 2: and years and years, and I counted on people, and
- 3:26Speaker 2: you know, I got myself in a lot of situations.
- 3:29Speaker 2: And I got out one a dire situation that I'd
- 3:32Speaker 2: been in for a number of years. But he had
- 3:34Speaker 2: protected me from years prior to that. I didn't even
- 3:37Speaker 2: know what was going on, and then he made it,
- 3:40Speaker 2: made me aware of the problem. And then, man, Lord
- 3:44Speaker 2: have mercy, I was in a dismal situation, and then
- 3:46Speaker 2: at the end of the year I was free, free
- 3:49Speaker 2: from it all.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But it was a decision that I had.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Made that led up to that, and in going through
- 3:57Speaker 2: that process, I had to learn something.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Man.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I learned a lot about people. See, if you want
- 4:02Speaker 2: to learn about your friends, if you want to learn
- 4:05Speaker 2: about your people people around you.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Get yourself in some trouble. Get yourself in a situation.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Oh man, you start looking around, man to feel get
- 4:15Speaker 2: real clear when you're in trouble. The feel clear is
- 4:19Speaker 2: out when you're in doubt, when you don't know what
- 4:21Speaker 2: to do, when you need help it, get real clear
- 4:25Speaker 2: on the play and field, then don't it.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Ah.
- 4:27Speaker 2: But when things is going right, it's time for a party.
- 4:30Speaker 2: We throwing a celebration. We gonna We're gonna do one
- 4:34Speaker 2: down here. Oh man, there's plenty of people on the field.
- 4:36Speaker 2: But but but get yourself in a situation. You find
- 4:40Speaker 2: out rather quickly that oh no, oh no, everybody ain't here.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And that's when I started learning. And I'm telling you,
- 4:48Speaker 2: I had to start learning this for real until I
- 4:51Speaker 2: finally got it to stop putting my faith in people
- 4:54Speaker 2: and put all the mind in God where it counts
- 4:56Speaker 2: the most. Now is that to say that there are
- 4:59Speaker 2: people that you can't trust. No, that's not what I'm saying.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I ain't say you can't trust them, but you can't
- 5:05Speaker 2: dump your faith in them. I got it all riding
- 5:08Speaker 2: on what he say. I got it all riding on
- 5:11Speaker 2: what she say. No, no, uh uh no, I hear
- 5:17Speaker 2: you saying it. But I'm gonna keep my eye on
- 5:20Speaker 2: this situation because I hear you saying it. But I'm
- 5:24Speaker 2: gonna take this faith of mine and instead of putting
- 5:27Speaker 2: it in people, I'm gonna put it in God where
- 5:29Speaker 2: it counts the most. Because his word is absolute. What
- 5:33Speaker 2: he say, he's gonna do. He gonna do what he say.
- 5:35Speaker 2: He's not gonna tolerate. He's not gonna tolerate. Now, you
- 5:38Speaker 2: can make it, you can make it tolerable for yourself,
- 5:40Speaker 2: but he's not gonna tolerate it. And that's just the
- 5:43Speaker 2: end of the line. And so you know, I'm wondering
- 5:46Speaker 2: how many people out there find themselves in a situation
- 5:49Speaker 2: like me, Or maybe you've gotten yourself in a situation
- 5:52Speaker 2: because you put your faith in some people and now
- 5:54Speaker 2: you wound up in a different type of situation.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Now, let me ask you where the people at.
- 6:00Speaker 2: The only one that I found when I was in
- 6:04Speaker 2: my deepest trouble, when me and my wife were in
- 6:07Speaker 2: our darkest situation, was God. It was the only one,
- 6:11Speaker 2: was the only one who was just right there, right there,
- 6:15Speaker 2: all the way through. Now, let me explain something to you.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Because you have this relationship with God, it does not mean,
- 6:26Speaker 2: it does not mean now that it won't get it
- 6:29Speaker 2: won't still be a situation, you understand. But what He
- 6:34Speaker 2: will do is protect you during that period. He'll cover
- 6:38Speaker 2: you during that period that it is a situation. He
- 6:42Speaker 2: will give you the strength to overcome the situation when
- 6:46Speaker 2: it turns into a situation. Then when he cracks it
- 6:50Speaker 2: open for you and the sun is bright and shining,
- 6:52Speaker 2: what he don't want you to do is when it
- 6:54Speaker 2: gets sunny again, to forget about him who was there
- 6:58Speaker 2: when it was dark for you. See, I used to
- 7:00Speaker 2: do that too, you know I was Oh, man, I
- 7:03Speaker 2: did it. I'm telling you right now, I did it.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But I'm telling you, man, when I learned a very
- 7:09Speaker 2: serious lesson, and I watched some people I thought were
- 7:13Speaker 2: friends of mine just sort of casually remove themselves from
- 7:18Speaker 2: the situation. Then I said, okay. Me and Marjorie looked around.
- 7:23Speaker 2: We said, okay, it's just me, you and God. And
- 7:26Speaker 2: when we started conducting ourselves accordingly. So when it's sunny
- 7:31Speaker 2: for us, we remember God, we stay prayerful, we keep
- 7:35Speaker 2: talking to him. We thank him for the sunshine, we
- 7:38Speaker 2: thank him for the dark days that he allowed us
- 7:40Speaker 2: to do, who allowed us to survive it and turn
- 7:43Speaker 2: it into sunny days. And we talked to him constantly
- 7:46Speaker 2: to protect us of our future enemies. And that's what
- 7:49Speaker 2: the deal is. So if I was everybody, I would
- 7:51Speaker 2: stop putting your faith in people and put your trust
- 7:54Speaker 2: in God where it really does count the most, it
- 7:57Speaker 2: really really does.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
