Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This mediated podcast. Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only
- 0:12Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer
- 0:15Speaker 1: new Arthen. Today we're joined by Stephen Ranella, Brody Henderson,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Seth Morris, Chaster, Floyd kren Schneider, Corey Calkins, Kelsey Johnson,
- 0:23Speaker 1: Kelsey Morris, Kelsey Morris Johnson and special guest Jim hefl Finger.
- 0:29Speaker 1: If you're not familiar, this is a ten round quiz
- 0:31Speaker 1: show with questions from meat eaters for verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater will
- 0:38Speaker 1: donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the
- 0:42Speaker 1: winners choosing. Now, Kelsey, this is your first time playing trivia.
- 0:46Speaker 1: How do you feel about your odds? Well, I'm gonna
- 0:49Speaker 1: beat Seth, that's for sure, you think so? Yeah, no
- 0:51Speaker 1: doubt any input there? Uh? It honestly good. We we
- 0:58Speaker 1: need a new rivalry in the room. And after this episode,
- 1:01Speaker 1: Jim will be the only guest who has played trivia twice. So,
- 1:05Speaker 1: going into your second round of trivia, how do you
- 1:08Speaker 1: feel about your chances this time? Jim, I'd like to
- 1:11Speaker 1: donate to the milder foundation. Okay, he is. He is
- 1:15Speaker 1: very confident. Now. Every episode we reveal a new trivia
- 1:19Speaker 1: stat and this week we're looking at Jim's performance. On
- 1:22Speaker 1: episode three oh seven, Jim got seven correct answers, which
- 1:26Speaker 1: was good enough for second place. He lost to Steven
- 1:29Speaker 1: Ronnella that game, who got eight right answers. They were
- 1:32Speaker 1: both tied going into the final question, but Jim couldn't
- 1:35Speaker 1: come up with what fish goes by the nickname copper belly.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Steve knew it was bluegill and that gave him the victory. Jim,
- 1:43Speaker 1: you feel only different about fishing questions this time around?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Or do you still lead confidence? When he? I think
- 1:48Speaker 1: my performance today depends on the number of bullshit fish questions. Okay, hey,
- 1:51Speaker 1: did you throw him? I did not. We hadn't adopted
- 1:55Speaker 1: that rule quite yet. He I would consider, is Jim
- 2:00Speaker 1: this time second? No? Not at this point. No. Jim
- 2:04Speaker 1: is a guest, so he will get one bone throwing
- 2:07Speaker 1: him Now. Although Jim couldn't pull off the wind, he
- 2:10Speaker 1: is tied with Andrew Zimmern for the most correct answers
- 2:13Speaker 1: by a guest, So Jim, you do have that going
- 2:16Speaker 1: for you. On a previous game of trivia. We have
- 2:19Speaker 1: some housekeeping to get to here. On a previous game
- 2:21Speaker 1: of trivia, I said that the world's longest mule deer
- 2:24Speaker 1: migration is a one hundred fifty mile journey that starts
- 2:27Speaker 1: and ends in Wyoming. This event is referred to as
- 2:31Speaker 1: the Red Desert to hold Back migration. But our very
- 2:34Speaker 1: own guest, Jim Heffelfinger, wrote in to let me know
- 2:37Speaker 1: that in biologists discovered an amazing extension of this journey
- 2:43Speaker 1: that changes what we previously knew about this, dear hurt.
- 2:46Speaker 1: So Jim, tell folks about dough number two fifty five. Yeah, no,
- 2:51Speaker 1: number two fifty five. Everybody talks about the Red Desert
- 2:54Speaker 1: to hold Back. It's been it's been illustrated and studied
- 2:57Speaker 1: quite a bit. But as you said to thousand eighteen,
- 3:00Speaker 1: this one dough Toft did that Red Desert from south
- 3:04Speaker 1: central Wyoming to hod Back and then continued left. All
- 3:08Speaker 1: of her herd mates continued up into Idaho for a
- 3:11Speaker 1: total of two two mile one way trip, extending that
- 3:16Speaker 1: so it does not stop in in Wyoming, UM, but
- 3:19Speaker 1: continues on to Idaho and and and then extends that
- 3:22Speaker 1: which is the longest migration in the lower forty eight
- 3:25Speaker 1: for an ungula, and I think they said she's now done.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's six times over that she's done that same journey,
- 3:30Speaker 1: so it's like a real migration that she's pulling off. Yeah, right,
- 3:34Speaker 1: she did that the first time, and and so they
- 3:37Speaker 1: didn't know that was just some errant movement up that far,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and so they waited to see if she was going
- 3:42Speaker 1: to come back, and her radio collar failed, so then
- 3:44Speaker 1: they had no idea. Was that just a a spurious thing?
- 3:47Speaker 1: And then every year they capture more animals and red
- 3:50Speaker 1: desert on the winter range there, and in the course
- 3:53Speaker 1: of capturing it, they captured her back in the Red desert,
- 3:56Speaker 1: put another color on, and then have been monitoring ever since.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Well it's amazing. You watch an animation of where that
- 4:02Speaker 1: dear travel to get there, and you're like, okay, it's
- 4:05Speaker 1: gonna stop here, all right, it can't go any further, right,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Like all right, that's it, right, and it just keeps going.
- 4:09Speaker 1: It's just crazy. One of the people who worked on
- 4:12Speaker 1: that project actually wrote in and said that they discovered
- 4:14Speaker 1: another group that is peeling off and going into Idaho,
- 4:18Speaker 1: making that a two d mile migration, which beats the
- 4:21Speaker 1: traditional red Desert to Hoback, but do to right now
- 4:25Speaker 1: holds the record. Now, the Shelby Index for this round
- 4:28Speaker 1: of trivia is a two and a half. So this
- 4:31Speaker 1: is a tougher batch of questions. I don't know. I
- 4:34Speaker 1: don't think it's a really tough batch. I think maybe
- 4:37Speaker 1: it's more. Uh, there's more questions that are true to
- 4:42Speaker 1: our four verticals, that are more endemic less non endemic questions.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So it's a tougher batch. Uh if you're not a
- 4:49Speaker 1: hardcore hunter and angler. And with that, we're under a
- 4:52Speaker 1: game of trivia. Play the drop, Karin, Look, I need
- 4:58Speaker 1: to know what I stay under. Win we're saying, how
- 5:02Speaker 1: I'm saying, just tend to win everything, suckers. Question one.
- 5:14Speaker 1: The topic is fishing, and as always, this will be
- 5:17Speaker 1: multiple choice. What Fishing Line Company created the not Wars
- 5:23Speaker 1: video series in the mid two thousands? Is it power Pro,
- 5:27Speaker 1: Suffix Cast, King or Berkeley? What fishing Line Company created
- 5:34Speaker 1: the not Wars video series in the mid two thousands?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Was it power Pro, Suffix Cast, King or Berkeley? Chester? Seth?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Did you boys know this one? No? No, I don't.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I don't know If this I don't know if the
- 5:50Speaker 1: series great series, I gotta go watch it. If you
- 5:52Speaker 1: haven't seen it, does everybody have an answer? Go ahead
- 5:56Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Berkeley, Jim
- 6:00Speaker 1: saying Berkeley, chest You're saying Berkeley, Brody saying Berkeley, Corey
- 6:04Speaker 1: saying Suffix, Kelsey saying Suffix, and Seth saying Berkeley. The
- 6:09Speaker 1: correct answer is Berkeley. In this room, as much as
- 6:16Speaker 1: you need, you better be worried about me. Berkeley created
- 6:21Speaker 1: a custom not strength testing machine and use it to
- 6:24Speaker 1: gather data on dozens of knots. They finally crowned their
- 6:27Speaker 1: champions in two thousand and ten, declaring the fish and
- 6:31Speaker 1: fool not the strongest not for mono or braid, and
- 6:34Speaker 1: the triple loop knot the strongest for floral. You know,
- 6:38Speaker 1: I feel like we could take our Warrener bracs or
- 6:40Speaker 1: Sheer force tests and just do not strict tests with it. Yeah, probably,
- 6:47Speaker 1: but you know, just it measures resistance, but points Steve
- 6:52Speaker 1: a lot of the times then not won't break in
- 6:54Speaker 1: the line. Will first like, if it's a good type knot,
- 6:58Speaker 1: you need to go watch the series. It's great. They
- 7:01Speaker 1: found it. They found probably like ten knots that would
- 7:04Speaker 1: actually increase the strength of line. So if you had
- 7:06Speaker 1: twenty pound line, they found some that would go a
- 7:08Speaker 1: hundred and thirty percent of that strength and they were
- 7:10Speaker 1: hitting like seven pounds of force before it was busting.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Really cool series. You learn a lot. Question to the
- 7:18Speaker 1: topic is conservation. This is our listener question of the Week,
- 7:22Speaker 1: which was won by Phil Hooey for sending this great question.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Phil is going to get a signed copy of The
- 7:27Speaker 1: Scavengers Guide to Cuisine. If you want a chance to
- 7:31Speaker 1: win the listener question in the week, then send your
- 7:33Speaker 1: question to Trivia at the meat eater dot com. There
- 7:36Speaker 1: are three states where wolves weren't extirpated. Named two of them.
- 7:44Speaker 1: There are three states where wolves weren't extirpated. Name two
- 7:50Speaker 1: of those states. How do you feel about this one? Jim?
- 7:55Speaker 1: I think you had the quickest answers in the room.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I feel pretty good, but not a dent. Let's see, Steve,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you know this one? Do you know all three? You think? Okay?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Everybody have an answer? Just looking for two of the three?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Chester still thinking? Do you have one of them? Chester?
- 8:15Speaker 1: I think okay, you'll be good tune. Chesters thinking and drinking.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I think that's that's probably done all right. I think
- 8:22Speaker 1: it has been. That was random kind of a little
- 8:26Speaker 1: bit well, you know, whenever I look at I try
- 8:28Speaker 1: to think of songs for just saying at your Lives
- 8:29Speaker 1: show in Atlanta, thinking and drinking, that's stupid. I think
- 8:36Speaker 1: that's been done by multiple country artists. Go ahead and
- 8:41Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Alaska and Minnesota,
- 8:45Speaker 1: Jim saying Minnesota and Montana. Chester you're saying Alaska and Minnesota,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Brody saying Wisconsin and Minnesota, Corey saying Wisconsin and Minnesota,
- 8:54Speaker 1: Kelsey saying Michigan and Montana. In Seth saying Washington and Idaho.
- 9:00Speaker 1: The three states are Alaska, Minnesota, and Michigan. So the
- 9:05Speaker 1: room did pretty well. Although wolves were extirpated from places
- 9:10Speaker 1: like Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, and Wisconsin,
- 9:17Speaker 1: they were never fully removed from Alaska, Minnesota, or Michigan.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Michigan was actually down to just one confirmed mail in
- 9:25Speaker 1: nineteen fifty nine, a year before they ended the state's
- 9:28Speaker 1: bounty program. Did Montana not have some that were crossing
- 9:31Speaker 1: back and forth on the border. I might have to
- 9:33Speaker 1: send you an email. Okay, yeah, tricky because they were crossed.
- 9:38Speaker 1: They were periodically crossing the border, and say the other
- 9:41Speaker 1: Missigan that like like the lake would get a good
- 9:43Speaker 1: freeze and someone scored across. You know, this was according
- 9:46Speaker 1: to the US Fishing Wildlife Service, so you can argue
- 9:49Speaker 1: with them, Jim, like, there were definitely periods of time
- 9:52Speaker 1: when there were none in Montana. Question three, the topic
- 9:57Speaker 1: is cooking. What herb comes from the leaves of coriander plants?
- 10:06Speaker 1: What herb comes from the leaves of coriander plants? Guy?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Should all know this? Why is that? Krane? Don't give
- 10:14Speaker 1: too many hands? Shut your trap. I'm not saying anything, Okay,
- 10:18Speaker 1: a pretty heavy hint though. Anyway, I'm just trying to think,
- 10:22Speaker 1: like what what cuisine is coriander? Just do are like
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'm thinking, but I'm thinking in my mind straight on
- 10:35Speaker 1: this poet and banter, I'm thinking in my mind one
- 10:41Speaker 1: more time, whatever comes from the leaves of coriander plants? Bro?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Do you know this one? Steve? You know this one? Well?
- 10:52Speaker 1: We have folks still trying to come up with an answer. Corey,
- 10:54Speaker 1: how you doing over there? Not good? Okay? When are
- 10:59Speaker 1: we going gonna come up with a formal amount of
- 11:02Speaker 1: time at which you're done thinking the podcast needs an
- 11:07Speaker 1: informal amount of time. Just so a question and breathe.
- 11:11Speaker 1: We canna have some banters? No no, no, no, no no
- 11:17Speaker 1: need to Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 11:21Speaker 1: We have Steve saying cilantro, cilantro, Chester saying I'm reagano,
- 11:25Speaker 1: Brodi sanging cilantro, Corey sang time, Kelsey saying human seth
- 11:30Speaker 1: without an answer. The correct answer is cilantro. Now, this
- 11:34Speaker 1: can be confusing because the dried seeds create the coriander spice,
- 11:40Speaker 1: but the leaves and the stock are known as cilantro.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Cilantro is the Spanish name for the coriander leaves and
- 11:47Speaker 1: is grouped in the Parsley family. You want to hear
- 11:50Speaker 1: a little tidbit about cilantro. Certainly, um something like of
- 11:55Speaker 1: the population has some genetic predisposal to like cilantro tastes
- 12:01Speaker 1: like three and me can tell you if you think
- 12:04Speaker 1: cilantro tastes like soap it. Yeah, it's heartbreaking because I
- 12:09Speaker 1: love cilantro. Yeah, same thing in our in our marriage.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I love cilantro. Shelby hates it Wasn't there one thing
- 12:16Speaker 1: in Hawaii that we had that you said it was
- 12:19Speaker 1: all right? Wasn't it like that that dip that we
- 12:23Speaker 1: used with that goat or that sauce that because everything
- 12:26Speaker 1: else drowned, drowned the taste of the cilantro out. Yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 1: but it's not a slant. But it's the previous question.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You know, you said you felt dumb for not thinking
- 12:35Speaker 1: of Alaska. It was one of my favorite quotes I
- 12:38Speaker 1: heard from a History Channel executive one time. He said
- 12:41Speaker 1: our audience, he said, the only other country our audience
- 12:47Speaker 1: is interested in is Alaska. It's true too by their
- 12:53Speaker 1: show line question for the topic is hunting. This next
- 13:00Speaker 1: great question comes to as Va Matt Campbell. If you
- 13:03Speaker 1: have a question you think is right for meat Eat Trivia,
- 13:05Speaker 1: you can send it a trivia at the meat Eator
- 13:07Speaker 1: dot com. Now this is a visual question. If you
- 13:10Speaker 1: want to play along and see what the room is seeing,
- 13:13Speaker 1: then go to Instagram and check out at Spencer new Hearth.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'll make it my most recent post. Well, maybe you
- 13:19Speaker 1: could put it on because Instagram stole Jim's Instagram account,
- 13:22Speaker 1: maybe you can put it on his new Instagram account,
- 13:24Speaker 1: and he could try to recover there you go. Have
- 13:28Speaker 1: you recovered all the followers? Yet he got his back
- 13:32Speaker 1: and I'm knocked in the dirt. Here is the question.
- 13:39Speaker 1: These are considered to be the world's oldest duck decoys,
- 13:43Speaker 1: which were discovered in a cave in Nevada. They are
- 13:47Speaker 1: thought to be about two thousand, two hundred years old.
- 13:51Speaker 1: What kind of duck is the decoy imitating? Again? These
- 13:57Speaker 1: are considered to be the world's oldest decoys, which were
- 14:01Speaker 1: discovered in a cave in Nevada. They're thought to be
- 14:04Speaker 1: about two thousand, two hundred years old. And here's your question.
- 14:07Speaker 1: What kind of duck is the decoy imitating? Some very
- 14:11Speaker 1: quick answers from folks looking at the photo again, go
- 14:14Speaker 1: to Instagram if you want to see this. How confident
- 14:16Speaker 1: in you Chester? You know this? Yeah, Jimmy, you're a
- 14:21Speaker 1: dear guy. How about a duck guy? Yeah? I can.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I can hold my own. I went to high school
- 14:25Speaker 1: in Horricon, which is at the southern end of the
- 14:27Speaker 1: largest freshwater marsh and North America, so most expensive muskrats
- 14:33Speaker 1: in the country. Hey have his bone yet? Not yet?
- 14:39Speaker 1: Hope not? I didn't recognize that it was probably the
- 14:41Speaker 1: wolf one that I got wrong. Does everybody have an
- 14:44Speaker 1: answer about what decoy this is? Go ahead and reveal
- 14:48Speaker 1: your answers. We have Steve saying canvas back, Jim saying
- 14:52Speaker 1: canvas back, canvas back, Brodie saying redhead, canvas back, Kelsey
- 14:57Speaker 1: saying Seth saying canvas back. They got it. It is
- 15:02Speaker 1: a canvas just didn't know if canvas backs went that
- 15:04Speaker 1: far inland. Archaeolgo, well, it looks like a redhead. You
- 15:09Speaker 1: know what. I started writing redhead and changed my mind.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Archaeologists discovered eleven canvas back decoys in the love Lock Cave,
- 15:19Speaker 1: as well as imitating Canada geese, snow geese, whistling swan,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and merganzas. The ancient humans that built them used tually
- 15:28Speaker 1: rushes to create the decoy shape and then tied real
- 15:31Speaker 1: duck feathers to the woven cords. Archaeologists believe these decoys
- 15:35Speaker 1: were placed on water with a fine net above them,
- 15:38Speaker 1: which entangled birds that tried to land in the spread.
- 15:41Speaker 1: That's great and they look beautiful like these things are
- 15:44Speaker 1: the work of art goum and take that they filed.
- 15:49Speaker 1: After hour, they found some other decoys in that cave
- 15:51Speaker 1: as well, that had entire Canada goose heads stretched over
- 15:57Speaker 1: the neck, so like they took and they into out
- 16:00Speaker 1: to Canada, goose neck kept the skull in the in
- 16:03Speaker 1: the feathers and then stretched on the decoys. So these
- 16:06Speaker 1: things looked like as good as there are cave like,
- 16:08Speaker 1: it's like the storage unity. They had everything in this cave.
- 16:12Speaker 1: The cave was a problem because they had some folks
- 16:14Speaker 1: harvesting guana from there, and those people didn't wanna like
- 16:18Speaker 1: come forward until they were satisfied with the mant iguana
- 16:21Speaker 1: that they had taken out, so a lot of stuff
- 16:22Speaker 1: was lost in that process. But yeah, they found tons
- 16:26Speaker 1: of good things in there, including all these decoys. That's great.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Question five we'll get a scoreboard update after this. The
- 16:33Speaker 1: topic is gear What city is home to the bass
- 16:38Speaker 1: Pro Shops Pyramid? Bass Pro Shops Pyramids? What city is
- 16:45Speaker 1: home to the bass pro Shops Pyramid? Did anybody know
- 16:50Speaker 1: this one? I think so? Maybe not. I know the
- 16:54Speaker 1: state the bass pro Shops Pyramid. The bass Pro Shops
- 16:59Speaker 1: Pyramid is only one of them in the world. And
- 17:01Speaker 1: what city that's where the headquarters is? Right, You're not
- 17:05Speaker 1: going to say anymore looking for the city. Think to yourselves.
- 17:11Speaker 1: M I think I've been there. Just think to yourself.
- 17:17Speaker 1: That's not gonna give anything away. But why not just
- 17:20Speaker 1: think to yourself so people can hear. People think better
- 17:23Speaker 1: if they talk out loud. That and it makes it
- 17:27Speaker 1: maybe a little more interesting. He always want us to talk,
- 17:32Speaker 1: Chester to shut up or Steve to close his ears again?
- 17:36Speaker 1: What city is home to the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid?
- 17:44Speaker 1: I think my grandma was from there. I think you
- 17:48Speaker 1: can get a direct flight there here. It's not giving
- 17:53Speaker 1: it away. Does everybody have an answer? Chester is trying
- 17:59Speaker 1: to think of all the place he's been. He's like Beijing. No,
- 18:08Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying St. Louis,
- 18:11Speaker 1: Jim saying Springfield, Chester's saying Branson, Brody sang Nashville, Corey
- 18:17Speaker 1: saying oh Maha, Kelsey saying St. Louis, and Seth saying St. Louis.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Nobody got it. The correct answer is Memphis. Was that
- 18:28Speaker 1: the bone for Jim? No, still not the gym bone.
- 18:32Speaker 1: The Bass Pro Shop Pyramid was built in nineteen fifty
- 18:35Speaker 1: four and was long used as an arena that held
- 18:38Speaker 1: five events like Memphis Grizzlies games, Rolling Stones concerts, and
- 18:42Speaker 1: even Lennox Lewis versus Mike Tyson. The arena was abandoned
- 18:46Speaker 1: in two thousand five, but in two thousand ten Bass
- 18:49Speaker 1: Pro Shops signed a fifty five year lease with the
- 18:51Speaker 1: City of Memphis to place their Mega store there. It's
- 18:55Speaker 1: now home to a hotel, archery range, laser arcade, restaurant, aquarium,
- 19:00Speaker 1: and bowling alley. So Chester there, Okay, So I hint
- 19:05Speaker 1: that wouldn't even help anybody if you gets Chester didn't know?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Did you notice that I was playing a perfect game
- 19:11Speaker 1: till then I did not? We will now hear from
- 19:13Speaker 1: Korean to get a scoreboard update, which I think means
- 19:16Speaker 1: Steve will have four. Yes, surprise everyone, Steve has four?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Uh tied for second place? Is it's Jim and Chester
- 19:28Speaker 1: with three each, Brody and Seth with two each, Corey
- 19:33Speaker 1: with one, and Kelsey not on the board. Just how
- 19:37Speaker 1: angry that when they do the score and you're gonna
- 19:45Speaker 1: have to hear it two more times? Kelsey better get one.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Question six the topic is habitat. This next great question
- 20:01Speaker 1: comes to us via Nathan Powers. If you have a
- 20:03Speaker 1: question right from Mediator Trivia. You can send it to
- 20:07Speaker 1: trivia at the mediator dot com. You will know for
- 20:10Speaker 1: certain when it's Jim's bell. Food plot fertilizers always list
- 20:15Speaker 1: N p K values. The N is nitrogen. What do
- 20:20Speaker 1: the P and K stand for? Food plot fertilizers always
- 20:26Speaker 1: list N p K values. The end is nitrogen. You
- 20:31Speaker 1: need to tell me what the P stands for and
- 20:33Speaker 1: what the case stands for. Steve knew this one immediately. Oh,
- 20:38Speaker 1: no portions, okay, portions looking for the P and the K.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Jim you know this one, he does confidently, And it's
- 20:49Speaker 1: not even the gym question yet. Why why should you okay,
- 20:57Speaker 1: why should you know this? Cultural degree? That's right, which
- 21:00Speaker 1: is surprising because I'm an artist. But yeah, N P K,
- 21:04Speaker 1: I'll tell you that the end is nitrogen. You need
- 21:06Speaker 1: to tell me what the P and the K stand for?
- 21:11Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? I eventually would you'd have
- 21:17Speaker 1: the right answer or a answer? Does no seth? You
- 21:23Speaker 1: know this one? Can just have one that we need
- 21:26Speaker 1: both P N K. I know it. Spencer, Okay, why
- 21:31Speaker 1: do you know this? One of generalism? I agree? And
- 21:35Speaker 1: I used to be a food plot and not really
- 21:38Speaker 1: so where were you planning food plots at in Pennsylvania?
- 21:41Speaker 1: I like it? Does everybody have an answer? No? No,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I should know this. I've planted, I got I got
- 21:49Speaker 1: Brody tamp in his hand like a watch, saying we
- 21:52Speaker 1: need to move on with it. Steve, Dude, I'm stuck.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying phosphate,
- 22:00Speaker 1: Jim saying phosphorus and potassium, potassium and kelsium, Corey's saying
- 22:09Speaker 1: phosphate and potassium, Kelsey saying phosphorus and question mark Seth
- 22:13Speaker 1: saying phosphorus and potassium. The P is phosphorus and the
- 22:18Speaker 1: K is potassium. So the room did pretty But I
- 22:22Speaker 1: had that. I thought phosphate replaced I thought potassium. Steve
- 22:29Speaker 1: is always the guy who was first to shame Karin
- 22:31Speaker 1: for like not writing down again, and then he didn't
- 22:34Speaker 1: even keep his guests that he hadn't listen. We're listening.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Do you get a half point? No, that's wrong. That
- 22:43Speaker 1: was your chance to pounce jack rabbit. Jim. These are
- 22:48Speaker 1: some of the most important macro nutrients for plants. Simply put,
- 22:52Speaker 1: the higher the number, the more concentrated the element is.
- 22:55Speaker 1: So if your fertilizer has an NPK value of twenty
- 22:59Speaker 1: five five. That means it as four times as much
- 23:02Speaker 1: nitrogen as it does phosphorus and potassium. And if it
- 23:06Speaker 1: is a twenty, then it has twice as much concentration
- 23:10Speaker 1: of all three nutrients than a bag of ten ten ten.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Here's the deal, my soils class final right. I was like, okay,
- 23:18Speaker 1: p is potassium because I was like, then what could
- 23:20Speaker 1: the cave? Because no phosphate needs to be in there?
- 23:22Speaker 1: And that's a pea. Almost they ran out of pas
- 23:28Speaker 1: on the periodic chart. They had to come up with
- 23:29Speaker 1: something else. Question seven, the topic is cooking. What federal
- 23:34Speaker 1: agency replace the food pyramid with a plate? In two
- 23:38Speaker 1: thousand eleven? What federal agency replaced the food pyramid with
- 23:45Speaker 1: a plate in two thousand eleven? Quick answer from Steve
- 23:51Speaker 1: seems as though he knows this one. Brody, you know
- 23:53Speaker 1: this well, I think I do. Okay, I'm out of
- 23:57Speaker 1: this thing though, you think so. We'll get this warboard
- 24:00Speaker 1: updating a few questions here, suffering no waste of my
- 24:05Speaker 1: time again, what federal agency replaced the food pyramid with
- 24:09Speaker 1: a plate? And a lot of respect if you just
- 24:11Speaker 1: walked out of the room, like, if you know you
- 24:14Speaker 1: can't win and just leave, I'd respect that. Does everybody
- 24:18Speaker 1: have an answer? No, I don't know. Man, federal agency chess,
- 24:25Speaker 1: you're gonna come up with one. I don't even think
- 24:28Speaker 1: this is a federal agency. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 24:33Speaker 1: We have Steve saying the f d A, Jim saying
- 24:36Speaker 1: the U. S d A. Chat without an answer, Brody
- 24:38Speaker 1: saying f d A, Corey saying Food and Drug Administration,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Kelsey saying saying f d A. The correct answer is
- 24:48Speaker 1: the US Department of Bagriculture. It is not the FDA,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it is the U. S d A. Knew it all
- 25:00Speaker 1: the way. I knew that. God, I felt confident now
- 25:04Speaker 1: because that's why it's a good question. You would think food. Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 1: it's not that I was wrong. The U. S d
- 25:19Speaker 1: A introduced the first food pyramid in and replaced it
- 25:23Speaker 1: with my Pyramid in two thousand five, and replaced that
- 25:27Speaker 1: with my Plate in two thousand and eleven. The biggest
- 25:30Speaker 1: change from the pyramid to the two thousand eleven plate
- 25:34Speaker 1: is that fat like nuts and oils are less discouraged.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Another difference is that the grain servings were cut in half.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Now explain me what category that was. That's cooking me
- 25:45Speaker 1: is a big part of the pyramid and plate I
- 25:48Speaker 1: was just checking. I forgot that old school pyramid was hilarious.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It was like like like, yeah, just bread, white bread,
- 25:59Speaker 1: as much as you want. Question eight the topic is conservation.
- 26:04Speaker 1: This next great question comes to you as via Anthony Frith.
- 26:07Speaker 1: If you have a question you think is right for
- 26:09Speaker 1: meat Eator Trivia, you can send it to trivia at
- 26:11Speaker 1: the meat eator dot com. This is an audio question.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I am going to play you one minute of one
- 26:19Speaker 1: of the greatest conservation songs ever written. You need to
- 26:23Speaker 1: tell me who the artist is. And Dods came and
- 26:29Speaker 1: took its soul and he in the name a flood control.
- 26:35Speaker 1: They made the plans and they and the last time
- 26:44Speaker 1: I walked in the swamp up a shop for the
- 26:49Speaker 1: Chester could be the Domes of Holy Love. I'm falling,
- 27:17Speaker 1: showing up, listening out. That's the greatest conservation. It's one
- 27:32Speaker 1: of one of the greatest conservation songs ever written. Now
- 27:36Speaker 1: Steve knew the lyrics, but do you know the artist?
- 27:38Speaker 1: I think in those first name Okay, I'm looking for
- 27:41Speaker 1: name the artist. Now you're gonna need a last name
- 27:44Speaker 1: in there. I'm gonna need a last name. Does anybody
- 27:47Speaker 1: know this one? Maybe maybe from chester Man? That song?
- 27:53Speaker 1: I was Friday and Saturday nights. I was washing dishes
- 27:56Speaker 1: at Steiner's Point when that song came out. One thing
- 28:00Speaker 1: I love about this is a lot of folks who
- 28:02Speaker 1: were fans of his. They'd like to say something like
- 28:04Speaker 1: I don't always listen to blank, but when I do,
- 28:07Speaker 1: my neighbors do as well. Mean you really crank it loud?
- 28:12Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Looking for the artist? Karen?
- 28:16Speaker 1: You know this one? You were you were bopping your
- 28:18Speaker 1: head over there. There was a sign that said uh
- 28:22Speaker 1: at Steiner's Point. Um, there's a sign that said that
- 28:26Speaker 1: there's time to lean, there's time to clean. And the
- 28:29Speaker 1: dude that ran the griddle change that say if there's
- 28:32Speaker 1: time to lean, there's time to make a burger. There
- 28:35Speaker 1: you go. I worked at a cafe in high school
- 28:40Speaker 1: and and we had to say. The manager there would
- 28:44Speaker 1: always say they knew the people who would get the
- 28:47Speaker 1: dishwater ships, so whenever the dishes had to start happening,
- 28:50Speaker 1: they would be in the bathroom, not clean dishes. That's
- 28:53Speaker 1: the dishwater ships. Does everybody have an answer for who
- 28:57Speaker 1: this artist is? Go ahead reveal your answers. We have
- 29:01Speaker 1: Steve saying John Montgomery, Jim saying, Luke Combs, Chester's saying
- 29:06Speaker 1: Joe Diffie, Brody's saying Black Sabbath, Corey's saying, James Taylor
- 29:11Speaker 1: Kelsey without an seth saying Joe Diffy. Nobody got it.
- 29:15Speaker 1: The correct answer is John Anderson. I knew Anderson wrote
- 29:23Speaker 1: that song in about his home state of Florida and
- 29:27Speaker 1: how the military attempted to drain the Everglades during the
- 29:30Speaker 1: Second Seminal War. His lyrics referenced Seminal Chief Osciola, whose
- 29:35Speaker 1: ghost cries out over the destruction of the swamp for
- 29:38Speaker 1: financial gain. Anderson was named bass Pros Conservation Partner of
- 29:42Speaker 1: the Year in Steen for his environmental work in South Florida,
- 29:46Speaker 1: and earlier this year, our friend Luke Combs covered that
- 29:50Speaker 1: song on a John Anderson tribute album. So I'm not
- 29:52Speaker 1: going to give it to you, Jim. That's a good answer.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I was sure Luke Colmes was wrong, and I was
- 29:59Speaker 1: just release his own version that song, which is also great. Koran,
- 30:03Speaker 1: give us a scoreboard update. We have two questions left.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Guess who's when it is? Jim in the lead with five,
- 30:13Speaker 1: Steven second with four, Seth with three, Chester with three,
- 30:20Speaker 1: Brody and Corey with two. Kelsey still not No, she
- 30:26Speaker 1: had more. Think you got to cancel the bone. No,
- 30:31Speaker 1: it's right here. How can you get the leader of bone?
- 30:38Speaker 1: Question three? Year, Question nine, it's all the same. Does
- 30:42Speaker 1: a lot of good habit that work? It really helped
- 30:44Speaker 1: us out a lot. Question nine. The topic is Jim
- 30:46Speaker 1: Heffelfinger or biology. What do you call the permanent outgrowth
- 30:54Speaker 1: on a dear skull? Where antlers grow from? Do you
- 31:00Speaker 1: call the permanent outgrowth on a dear skull? We have
- 31:08Speaker 1: Jim giggling to himself over here. It seems like Brody
- 31:11Speaker 1: and Steve know it as well. I was like throwing
- 31:14Speaker 1: the room abone. Yeah, does everybody have an answer? Go
- 31:19Speaker 1: ahead and be all your answers. We have Steve saying pedicle, pedicle,
- 31:24Speaker 1: chestres pedical. We'll give it to your pedicle, pedicle, pedicle.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Everybody got it. The funny thing about pedicle is everybody
- 31:30Speaker 1: pronounced it like medical to rhyme like medical, because that's
- 31:34Speaker 1: what Anthony Bouberick, a famous antler, researcher said that it
- 31:37Speaker 1: rhymes with medical, but Anthony Bubinick knew about sick languages
- 31:41Speaker 1: and English was like his fifth language, so we're all
- 31:43Speaker 1: pronouncing it based on Anthony. I don't know. I don't
- 31:48Speaker 1: know now. Dear pedicles have been called the fingerprint of
- 31:53Speaker 1: the white tailed world because each one has a unique
- 31:56Speaker 1: structure specific to different books. Pedicle injuries just one way
- 32:01Speaker 1: that a deer can grow a non typical rack, along
- 32:04Speaker 1: with a leg injuries, testicle injuries, hormone imbalances, and genetics. Karen,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I don't think we need another scoreboard updates since everybody
- 32:12Speaker 1: got that one right except for Kelsey. Is Now we're
- 32:17Speaker 1: still down to our last question. We still have Jim
- 32:20Speaker 1: and Steve and it. We would need Jim to get
- 32:22Speaker 1: it wrong and Steve to get it right to go
- 32:25Speaker 1: to over time. And the topic is fishing. I don't
- 32:33Speaker 1: This is gonna be the nineteen eight hockey, the Olympics
- 32:35Speaker 1: in hockey, that's what it's gonna be. I'm gonna pull
- 32:37Speaker 1: out a fishing wind. Two anglers have won the bass
- 32:41Speaker 1: Master Classic four times. Name one of those anglers. Oh
- 32:45Speaker 1: my gosh, I'm gonna blank on this and I two
- 32:49Speaker 1: anglers have won the bass Master Classic four times. Name
- 32:54Speaker 1: one of those anglers. Jim had a pretty quick answer anyway,
- 32:59Speaker 1: so you might know this one. Chester is distraught right now,
- 33:05Speaker 1: just one, just one of the two anglers that have
- 33:08Speaker 1: won twice. Um, Jim, how confident are you? Oh? I'm
- 33:15Speaker 1: pretty confident. You think you got it? Okay? Steve, how
- 33:21Speaker 1: confident are you? Not at all? Oh? No, we might
- 33:24Speaker 1: just have an outright victory. Remember his name and I
- 33:27Speaker 1: cannot remember it. That's the key, remembering his name. Does
- 33:33Speaker 1: everybody have an answer? This isn't I know, I don't
- 33:38Speaker 1: have it right. I'm just gonna leave everybody else go
- 33:42Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying I connelly,
- 33:46Speaker 1: Jim saying by trying to think of jesters saying Bill
- 33:51Speaker 1: Dance Brody with his board upside out, Kevin van Damn,
- 33:56Speaker 1: Corey saying Bill Dance Kelsey without an answer, Seth saying damn.
- 34:01Speaker 1: The two anglers are Rick Klon and Kevin van dam
- 34:04Speaker 1: doesn't change anything. That doesn't change anything. Steve didn't get it.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Jim didn't get it either, But Jim is our winner.
- 34:14Speaker 1: How many? How many? How do you get right for three.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Jim got six first victory, six well done top round.
- 34:25Speaker 1: It felt like a anti climactic in five a week
- 34:29Speaker 1: win a week win. What does that mean you had
- 34:32Speaker 1: a weak loss towards the end. They're all wrong. Yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 1: that's because that's a great job at the beginning, I
- 34:43Speaker 1: could coast. Wait is jim our second guest winner? Jimmy's
- 34:47Speaker 1: our second guest winner. Now here is the anticlimactic part.
- 34:52Speaker 1: What are you going to do with your five oundation?
- 34:57Speaker 1: And why do you should people support? The Mule Deer
- 35:00Speaker 1: Meler Foundation is really habitat oriented. They do tons of
- 35:04Speaker 1: good habits at work that's putting meals around the ground,
- 35:06Speaker 1: not just you know, talking about meal deer conservation, but
- 35:09Speaker 1: they're doing measurable stuff that's helping mealer on the ground.
- 35:13Speaker 1: But I also cheer a Western Melder working group for
- 35:15Speaker 1: the Western Association Fishing Wilde Agencies. They have always been
- 35:18Speaker 1: there to have our back when we needed some funding
- 35:20Speaker 1: to to do a publication layout or or funds of
- 35:24Speaker 1: printing of some publications, or give us meeting rooms. They've
- 35:27Speaker 1: really been kind of our support for a long time.
- 35:29Speaker 1: So they do a lot of good stuff. I will
- 35:31Speaker 1: give you credit for this. When you kept saying where
- 35:33Speaker 1: you're gonna give your money, we all laughed. We thought
- 35:35Speaker 1: you were just being cocky, but you were. You knew
- 35:37Speaker 1: what your money was gonna like a fortune teller right
- 35:41Speaker 1: see into the future. Point out that I thought, yes, said,
- 35:45Speaker 1: I said, you'd probably beat me. Okay, well done, Jim,
- 35:51Speaker 1: I would say that was a strong victory. Good job
- 35:55Speaker 1: representing Trivia guests everywhere. Join us next time for more
- 35:59Speaker 1: meat Eatior Trivia. Uh. The only game show where conservation
- 36:02Speaker 1: always wins at the first four right that tough secondary.
- 36:06Speaker 1: The only game show where I always do well on
- 36:08Speaker 1: the first three questions and then tank
