- 0:00Speaker 1: I have stacks of information. Rich has life hacks. Pretty
- 0:02Speaker 1: interesting information I have here. Actress Glenn Close. You might
- 0:07Speaker 1: know her right now. She's in the new show with
- 0:08Speaker 1: Kim Kardashian.
- 0:09Speaker 2: That's right. All's fair.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Glenn Colos, close, holds the record for the most Oscar
- 0:14Speaker 1: nominations for an actress without ever winning one.
- 0:17Speaker 2: That's brutal.
- 0:18Speaker 1: She's been nominated eight times for The Big Chill, The Natural,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Fatal Attractions, Dangerous Liaisons.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Each time, she got close to winning. Hi-oh.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Close.
- 0:27Speaker 5: That would suck to come in second place that many times.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Doesn't Meryl Streep win every year? That's tough. She's good.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Women with bigger butts. Does anybody here have a big butt?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Women with bigger butts apparently give birth to smarter kids.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Hey.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Supposedly the extra omega-3 fatty acids they're storing down, they'll
- 0:44Speaker 1: help their baby's brain development.
- 0:46Speaker 2: You said acids. I've been talking about butts.
- 0:48Speaker 5: That was funny.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Domino's.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys remember this, but Domino's Pizza,
- 0:53Speaker 1: they used to have a mascot. Anyone remember the mascot?
- 0:55Speaker 3: The Noid.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Avoid the Noid. Avoid the Noid. He was so cute.
- 0:59Speaker 3: They stopped it. They stopped the Noid.
- 1:01Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It was like sad. He just disappeared.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Do you know why?
- 1:03Speaker 4: No, I love him.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Because of a schizophrenic guy named Kenneth Noid. He was
- 1:08Speaker 1: convinced they were mocking him, so he stormed into Domino's
- 1:10Speaker 1: Pizza in Atlanta, and he took two employees hostage at gunpoint.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. Are they going to bring him back?
- 1:16Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:17Speaker 4: No, you've got to avoid the noise.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:19Speaker 2: That's sad. Kenneth, they weren't doing that for you.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Are you guys familiar with the Gen Z stare? I
- 1:24Speaker 3: get it from Noah every once.
- 1:25Speaker 5: In a while.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27Speaker 2: The Gen Z stare.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Because of Noah, for sure.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Is the blank look younger people sometimes give you when
- 1:32Speaker 1: a verbal response would normally be expected. It's gone viral
- 1:36Speaker 1: because it keeps happening in the workplace.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I swear to God.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Noah does that a lot.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I'm so glad there's a name to it. Because Noah,
- 1:42Speaker 3: that is you.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Even just in regular conversation.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Are you, did you just hear me?
- 1:48Speaker 5: Are we here?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Noah, you're glitching. Come back to us, baby.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Come back.
- 1:54Speaker 4: That's exactly what it is. It's a glitch is what
- 1:56Speaker 4: it is. It's not.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Noah and my son, Jake. Apparently, this is pretty interesting.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm surprised I haven't seen this yet, but there's been
- 2:05Speaker 1: a lot of sightings of the Loch Ness Monster. They
- 2:08Speaker 1: more than doubled from last year. Isn't that crazy?
- 2:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I saw there was this weird looking thing that
- 2:14Speaker 5: looked like a hippo. It has like the head of
- 2:17Speaker 5: a hippo. And they think that it was like the
- 2:20Speaker 5: Loch Ness Moms.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Have you guys watched? You know what?
- 2:23Speaker 1: I went to Amazon Prime. Was it Amazon Prime? I
- 2:26Speaker 1: went to Amazon Prime to watch. Gosh, I can't remember
- 2:29Speaker 1: what show it was. But the one that has Carrie
- 2:30Speaker 1: on there.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So watch Terminal List. Terminal List is number one right now.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Carrie's number two. And there was a movie called Hungry.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm like, what's this about? So I click on it,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and it's about a hippo that kills people in Louisiana.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Hippos are cute.
- 2:44Speaker 3: They're scary. I know, but somehow this hippo got lost
- 2:46Speaker 3: in Louisiana. He's eating alligators.
- 2:48Speaker 4: He's eating people.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Dang.
- 2:50Speaker 3: You brought up hippos.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, a UC Berkeley professor has stopped grading students'
- 2:56Speaker 1: homework for correctness. He's just stopped. He says it just
- 3:00Speaker 1: punishes honest people who aren't using AI. So he just
- 3:02Speaker 1: doesn't grade their papers anymore. Which, by the way, I
- 3:04Speaker 1: actually had a little debate with this in my head.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I thought, how can professors overcome AI? And I know
- 3:10Speaker 1: how they can. To me, it's simple, I think. When
- 3:13Speaker 1: you're having class and the term paper is due or
- 3:15Speaker 1: a report is due, Everyone has to do it in class,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and they have to do it with a pencil and
- 3:20Speaker 1: a piece of paper.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Do you know that's what they're doing in my kid
- 3:22Speaker 4: Audrey's college right now?
- 3:23Speaker 3: Oh, they are.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Oh, I made that up.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I should be a professor.
- 3:25Speaker 6: They used to be able to do multiple choice. They
- 3:27Speaker 6: used to be able to take stuff home. Now everything
- 3:29Speaker 6: happens in class just like that.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that way you can't use AI. You got to
- 3:32Speaker 3: do handwriting.
- 3:33Speaker 4: They'd be like, what?
- 3:36Speaker 1: I don't know if this is a big deal or not.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I don't know what this is, but Starbucks has something
- 3:40Speaker 1: called Red Cup Day.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Well, anyway, it's Tuesday, November 17th.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah, all the holiday stuff starts on November 5th.
- 3:47Speaker 7: So it's like a limited edition reusable holiday cup.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And then you get it for free with your drinks
- 3:52Speaker 2: just that day.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 2: While supplies last, of course.
- 3:55Speaker 1: According to a new study, the average American spends around
- 3:58Speaker 1: $ 150 a month on unplanned purchases. That's about $ 1, 800 a year.
- 4:05Speaker 1: A study focused on Reddit discussions about buyer's remorse found
- 4:08Speaker 1: the top 10 most regrettable purchases.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Any kind of exercise equipment. Or membership.
- 4:15Speaker 2: That's a good one because it just becomes like a
- 4:17Speaker 2: laundry holder.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Nope. What about like fast food? I always regret eating,
- 4:22Speaker 5: getting fast food. I'm like, it's expensive and it wasn't
- 4:24Speaker 5: that good.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Nope.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Kitchen appliances.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Number 10, camping and backpacking gear. Sounds fun until you
- 4:30Speaker 1: got to lug all that stuff to the campground. Notebooks
- 4:33Speaker 1: and journals. Despite our good intentions, they go unused.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Cameras.
- 4:37Speaker 1: They're bulky and our phones are usually just as good.
- 4:40Speaker 1: A home sewing machine. It's an awesome idea, but so
- 4:43Speaker 1: much work. craft supplies and yarn, beauty and skincare products.
- 4:49Speaker 1: They can expire before they're even opened.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Handbags. If it's too flashy or expensive, you might regret it.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Shoes and high heels, especially if it was purchased for
- 4:57Speaker 1: a special occasion.
- 4:59Speaker 5: I will never regret that.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Good for juicers because the cleanup is such a hassle.
- 5:03Speaker 2: You complained about that when you started juicing. I remember that.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I did. I still have my juicer, but someone gave
- 5:08Speaker 3: me my juicer. I didn't buy it.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Um, And the number one biggest regret is unworn clothes. 86%
- 5:14Speaker 1: of people say they own clothes they've never worn.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I fall in that category.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Or I wear a thing like a new jacket and
- 5:20Speaker 5: then I can't find it anymore.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And I wore it one time.
- 5:23Speaker 7: Actually, my Halloween costume is something that I bought probably
- 5:27Speaker 7: eight years ago.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And I've never worn it.
- 5:30Speaker 3: You bought it as a real outfit?
- 5:31Speaker 7: I bought it as like, I'll have somewhere flashy to
- 5:34Speaker 7: wear this to, and I never did.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Is it the Halloween costume you're doing here, Halloween costume
- 5:39Speaker 1: you're doing at home, or Halloween costume you're doing at the.
- 5:41Speaker 2: For Wicked Ball.
- 5:42Speaker 3: For Wicked Ball.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm right on.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, good for you for being like the
- 5:45Speaker 5: same size though, eight years later.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Well, thank you.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Rich Wiggum for Life Hacks.
- 5:49Speaker 6: This Sunday, everybody, is November 1st, which that is not
- 5:52Speaker 6: the news. But it is, for most of the country,
- 5:55Speaker 6: the time when everybody turns the clocks back an hour.
- 5:58Speaker 6: But here in Arizona, we just sit back and watch
- 6:00Speaker 6: while everybody else gets confused. But here's the hack.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Actually, I think we get confused.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Everybody gets confused what time it is.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Is it the same time as Colorado or California?
- 6:07Speaker 3: It's so complicated.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Well, okay.
- 6:10Speaker 6: The time thing, you don't have to reset your clocks.
- 6:13Speaker 6: But everywhere, they say it's a good time to do
- 6:16Speaker 6: your home safety check. Make sure you check your smoke
- 6:19Speaker 6: and carbon monoxide detectors. Replace the batteries. Check your air filters.
- 6:24Speaker 6: Make sure if you've got a fire extinguisher that it's
- 6:28Speaker 6: still good. If you don't have a fire extinguisher, go
- 6:31Speaker 6: get one. So you make this a twice a year habit.
- 6:33Speaker 6: When the clocks change, even if you don't change your clocks,
- 6:36Speaker 6: check all the safety stuff in your house. That way,
- 6:38Speaker 6: 10 minutes of maintenance can save your life. That life
- 6:42Speaker 6: hack can be found at johnjandrich.com.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Did you see that episode one of Nobody Wants This,
- 6:47Speaker 1: season three, is causing problems because everyone thinks their fire
- 6:50Speaker 1: detector's going off?
- 6:51Speaker 2: Oh, because it's like, beep, it's all going off.
- 6:53Speaker 3: They just need a new battery.
- 6:55Speaker 1: But the first episode, it goes off a few times
- 6:56Speaker 1: before they acknowledge it, and everyone's like pausing it, and
- 6:59Speaker 1: then they're looking around their house.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Oh, they think it's their own.
- 7:01Speaker 3: They think it's their own as you're watching it.
- 7:03Speaker 6: That happened to me on Carrie, too, because they're having
- 7:05Speaker 6: a fight, and she's like, okay, you have two minutes.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Siri set a timer for two minutes. So my timer
- 7:11Speaker 6: went off for two minutes and on the show, she
- 7:14Speaker 6: convinces her for two minutes and the timer.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Goes off at the same time.
- 7:17Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 7:17Speaker 4: On the TV and in my house.
- 7:19Speaker 3: That's a good story, Rich.
- 7:20Speaker 5: It was. It was. It was because I know exactly
- 7:23Speaker 5: what part he's talking about.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I watched Gary too. I watched Nobody Wants Us.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I was locked in with you, Rich. We were there
- 7:29Speaker 5: and that's all that matters.
