- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41Do you smell? Do you smell what that is?
- 0:44Well, it smells like victory. I I think I I knew they were.
- 0:46I knew you're going to say that. I Yeah.
- 0:49And. And did I not call it?
- 0:51Yeah, you did. I I.
- 0:53I just said this was that's was a blowout.
- 0:55The, the, the defense wins games and the way they rolled over
- 0:59everybody, I'm like, they're this is not this is not going to
- 1:02go the way you want it for the big game.
- 1:04The nice thing at nice thing at work, I did end up getting some
- 1:07Reese's peanut butter cups and I got some sugar free A&W from
- 1:11Paddy 'cause she picked the Patriots and then they did the
- 1:13square thing and it ended up picking up 100 bucks.
- 1:16So I'll. Think.
- 1:18That I did. Yay.
- 1:19Awesome. Some guests, I was so happy they
- 1:22won. I mean, both teams, their
- 1:24defense was, was impressive. I mean.
- 1:27Yeah, I mean, I mean, yeah, I mean the page, I mean, it could
- 1:31have been a a worse blow out if if they and the Patriots had a
- 1:35good had a good defense and they did what they could.
- 1:37But it was interesting watching the game and the the announcer
- 1:40was like, they're coming from the left, They're coming from
- 1:42the left. And you think that they would,
- 1:43you think that they would have gone in at halftime and said,
- 1:46hey, man, I, I mean, I almost felt like, is anybody in the,
- 1:50the locker room going, my God, just, I don't care if there's
- 1:53ten of them. Just make sure that the, the QB
- 1:55can get out of the pocket, you know, and don't and screw down
- 1:58the field. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:59Just get them out. Just get them so we can get out
- 2:01of the pocket. I mean, they had to have been
- 2:03talking about stuff like that on the locker room, I'm sure.
- 2:06Plus it's like an extended halftime more so than normal so.
- 2:10Yeah, and and so the most sacks ever in a Super Bowl game ever.
- 2:14Which is crazy. Crazy.
- 2:17Now, tomorrow's the big parade. So if you're going to Seattle,
- 2:20they're going to lock all that down.
- 2:22Michelle, are you going to head over there or not?
- 2:24No I have a hair appointment tomorrow so and to try and
- 2:28reschedule that is horrible because it takes like 3 1/2
- 2:31hours for my hair so unfortunately I'm not going to
- 2:34make it to the parade. So are you.
- 2:36So my see my thing is I, I, I do like the Seahawks and I've
- 2:42talked about this before on the podcast where Co workers make me
- 2:46not root for them. Right.
- 2:48Because because it's like, it's nice that you win.
- 2:51I love it. I'm a Washingtonian.
- 2:53I'm very proud of Washingtonian, but don't be obnoxious about it.
- 2:56Great and. Then and then I also really get
- 2:58irritated when people start talking dynasty, you know what
- 3:01I'm saying? Like, oh, going forward we're
- 3:03going to win three. I mean not any given.
- 3:05I'm not. No, I would never say that.
- 3:07You're you're good, Michelle. I'm just saying, though, that
- 3:10around my office, it's like you get some, you get some, like,
- 3:13OK, you know, it's like because I got some people at work,
- 3:17that's, that's all they talk about.
- 3:18Great. Even in the office.
- 3:20Even in the office. Their identity, though.
- 3:21I know that's their identity sports yes, yes, and so that's
- 3:26their identity. So they but but I was it was so
- 3:28so AJ my coworker, he went, which was awesome.
- 3:31He went to the game Todd Long. So we knew.
- 3:34People, My friend from Michelle from Survivor, I think we had
- 3:37her in the studio years ago. She went to the game, so there
- 3:41was a lot of people at the game. So it was really cool to see
- 3:43that and you got to have the pride and I'm super excited and
- 3:47let's hope they can keep it together for next year.
- 3:49But they already lost their offensive coach.
- 3:51He's. Going to.
- 3:51I know. So it's going to the Raiders,
- 3:53right? Yeah, he's going.
- 3:54To the Raiders, I think that always happens.
- 3:57You know, people, people always think, oh, we're going to
- 3:58repeat, repeat, repeat. No, because, you know, because.
- 4:01So many people and right. He's never for agents, coaches,
- 4:04yes, yeah. Kenneth Walker, he some team,
- 4:07another team could walk in and go, hey, we'll give you 6
- 4:09million, you know, and then your team's broke it up again.
- 4:11So it's an awesome win. Congratulations, awesome win,
- 4:15dance and the jig. But but but but it's like, but
- 4:18but can you make it next year? That's going to be the they did
- 4:20last time. They did two in a row last time.
- 4:22So we'll see. Right, right.
- 4:24Hey. So I'm just glad we won.
- 4:26It's redemption from the loss to the Patriots, and going forward,
- 4:30if we make it to another Super Bowl, great.
- 4:32I'm just glad we won this one. Well, the new the new thing is
- 4:37the new, the the defense is this time it's called the dark side.
- 4:40The dark side. That's the, you know, last time.
- 4:42They named themselves. They named themselves so.
- 4:46Yeah. So yeah, it was a fun, a fun
- 4:48game to watch go Hawks. And and I know I think this year
- 4:52I'm kind of excited because I think Dallas is playing in
- 4:55Seattle with them. So I already asked Megan if we
- 4:59if, you know, if we could go and she says yeah, we can probably
- 5:02go to a. Game, I mean, I mean.
- 5:03But yeah, last time I went with you and we lost, the Cowboys
- 5:07lost, but but it was fun to be in the suite.
- 5:09And then your friends came from Dallas, I think.
- 5:12Or they are. My niece came from Dallas and
- 5:14the Dallas fan and her then husband.
- 5:16They're now divorced, by the way, but.
- 5:18It was fun to sit. He was a Cowboys, which they are
- 5:20from Dallas, so. But she's not a Cowboys fan.
- 5:23Or she just came. With I don't think she is now.
- 5:25Well, I think she probably was back then, but not now.
- 5:28I don't think so now. I gotcha.
- 5:30I gotcha. But I am excited because I think
- 5:32we'll get a game. I think we're going to get a
- 5:33game this year in Seattle, which I, yeah, will try to go to
- 5:36because and then then they talk crap at you when you're wearing
- 5:39your Cowboys jersey at a Seahawks game.
- 5:42But yes, but at least when you went with me, you were isolated
- 5:45because you're in the suite and. I'm joking.
- 5:47Everybody was super nice. Right where I have heard horror
- 5:50stories of the opposing team going and things that are said,
- 5:56one of them someone we know, Sherry Bissell.
- 6:00Which I took her. Yes, I yes, which I took her to
- 6:04the suite as well when the Bills came to Seattle.
- 6:07But that was the first time she had been to a game since the
- 6:11time she went and they took their son Zach.
- 6:14And he was probably, I think she said around, I want to say like
- 6:188 years old. And they were at the concession
- 6:22stand with their bills stuff on and these grown ass men were
- 6:27saying shit that was just horrible in front of Sherri and
- 6:31her little boy. And so she has never wanted to
- 6:34go back to a game since then. And I don't blame her.
- 6:37I wouldn't either. So it was just nice to take her
- 6:40and to have her be in the suite and not have to deal with all
- 6:43that crap. But I mean, it also happens to
- 6:46Seahawks fans when we go to other places, like Jacksonville
- 6:49was like horrible to a bunch of our fans when we played them.
- 6:53So the Jaguars. And I never understand again, I
- 6:56know we talked about this a lot on the podcast.
- 6:58I've never understood that. It's like.
- 7:00Me either. You can have you can have some
- 7:01fun trash talk, but when it gets personal or gets rude or just
- 7:05you know, it's like it's and at the end of the day, it's it's
- 7:08just a game. I.
- 7:09Mean it really just teams. Yeah, they're just teams, I
- 7:12mean, and, and I am, but then again, I mean, I'm not a super
- 7:17fan. So, so so it's like I I enjoy
- 7:21teams for what they are and I and I have a bad habit of
- 7:24reading on the underdog. So it's like, even even if I
- 7:27like the team, like, Oh well, maybe the underdog will, you
- 7:29know, whip some ass on. This.
- 7:30But that's part of being a lifelong, lifelong Mariners fan.
- 7:33You are. Oh yeah.
- 7:34Well, we the underdog. Yeah, yeah, Good, good for Todd.
- 7:37He's going to he's going to the Hawks, but yeah, the Mariners
- 7:40for him. I know that's that's.
- 7:42Me too. I prefer baseball over football.
- 7:45Yes, that is my sport. So, all right, I don't know as
- 7:48much about football so. I enjoy all sports.
- 7:52I'm definitely not a sport sport, a holic or anything.
- 7:55If I were to pick my favorite, we've talked football is my
- 7:57favorite if we were to pick one. I mean, I have not made it to a
- 8:00hockey game to see the Krakens or yeah, I think that would be
- 8:04fun. I would probably love it when
- 8:06they broke out into a fight so. The nice the nice thing about
- 8:09living in the Tri-City. Seems aggressive.
- 8:12The nice thing about Tracy's, we have the Americans.
- 8:14So I've been to hockey games, we got the Dust Devils.
- 8:16So I mean, the the nice thing is we have some of those teams
- 8:18already here. I think I've even to do a Yakima
- 8:20Hawks thing years ago. A billion years ago.
- 8:23Or something like that. So at least I've been in that
- 8:25ice rink before, in Yakima before.
- 8:27Have you ever been in that ice rink?
- 8:28No, I haven't. Oh.
- 8:30I've been, I've been in that ice rink, I think, I think Pokey
- 8:32Logan and I went skating there one time, ice skating one time.
- 8:35I I much prefer roller skating to ice skating.
- 8:38I'm. Not I was going to say I cannot
- 8:40ice skate to save. No, I can.
- 8:42Nice roller skate. Yeah, I, I, I much rather roller
- 8:45skate than I skate. But no, it's, it's, it's a good
- 8:48Hawks win. Congratulations.
- 8:50Thank you, I wore my 12. I see that I see.
- 8:53That jersey for your flashes. But I mean.
- 8:56Well, no, it's not. I'm not not excited that they
- 9:00won't and I'd have to be drunk for that to happen.
- 9:05Oh, there you go. There you go.
- 9:06Well, you know, I mean, I'm sure the celebration on Sunday, you
- 9:10know, Jake was home for that, right?
- 9:12Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:13So you guys enjoyed the. Yeah, Yeah.
- 9:14The. Game which I like to watch it
- 9:17because then I can yell, which I wasn't yelling too much,
- 9:20obviously because we were winning.
- 9:22There wasn't a lot to yell about for one, I just like watching it
- 9:26at home where I can yell and just if I want to cuss and say
- 9:30thing where if I'm in like a restaurant or even a bar, I
- 9:34would probably be a little more reserved than I am at home.
- 9:37And so I, I don't know, I don't like going somewhere and
- 9:40watching it where other people that we know we're like, well,
- 9:43are you going to go watch it somewhere?
- 9:44Are you going to go? Well, First off, it's kind of
- 9:46hard to go when you're at a bar or somewhere else trying to
- 9:49watch it. And there's this other people
- 9:51that are distractions and talking and I I want to be able
- 9:55to see the commercials and the game.
- 9:58Right, right. Yeah, Well.
- 10:00So that's kind of my thing. I don't like to go somewhere.
- 10:02It's quite interesting because to me it's like, yeah, I, I've
- 10:05done it always. Like you said, you know, I've
- 10:07gone to the, I've gone to a bar or pub, I've gone to a friend's
- 10:11house to watch the game. I, I've watched it alone this
- 10:14year. I watched it alone.
- 10:15It was so funny. Was right at the start of the
- 10:17game I left and my neighbor's a big Seahawks fan.
- 10:20Her name's Stacy and her family's across the street and
- 10:23she texted me and says, why are you leaving?
- 10:25And I wrote back I said I said I'm going I'm going to yoke's to
- 10:28get a piece of cake because I feel like I need a piece of
- 10:30cake. So I just had I just had a
- 10:33craving for a piece of cake and so and then I came back and then
- 10:36she goes, well, we got a big spread.
- 10:38You know, you're more than welcome to come on over.
- 10:39And it's like, that's that's nice.
- 10:42But but I but I had already made myself chili Fritos, sour cream
- 10:47and cheese was kind of what my my meal was going to be.
- 10:49And then this piece of cake. So the older I get, the more I
- 10:53just enjoy watching things by myself.
- 10:55What do you mean? The older you get?
- 10:56You've always been like that. That is some bullshit.
- 10:59I'm going to call that that is. There's a flag on the field,
- 11:03there is a flag, there's a flag on the field.
- 11:07So yes. So normally, so yes.
- 11:09Never wanted to go right. Do anything that you make a
- 11:14great point. So so I have done though, like
- 11:16you said, other games and blah blah blah and gone places, but
- 11:19that's going to get in somebody'd pants.
- 11:21It was never because I wanted to, you know.
- 11:23So I look back at like an ex-girlfriend or even Megan or
- 11:25whatever. Yeah, it's like, yeah, even
- 11:28Megan. What's that?
- 11:30You did that to even Megan and now you don't go do it.
- 11:33Well, she does. She has no desire.
- 11:35I mean, it's no, I mean, she doesn't.
- 11:36Yeah, she could. Yeah.
- 11:37I mean, no, this is early in the relationship.
- 11:40You know, it was so funny. Early.
- 11:42Early in the relationship. I'm not a big fan of cold.
- 11:46Me either. I'm, I'm just, I need the cold.
- 11:48And so she said, hey, can you know it was right in the middle
- 11:51of winter? He goes, hey, do you want to
- 11:52come down to the park? And I'm going to take Kyron down
- 11:54there. Kyron at the time was five years
- 11:56old. To the park in the winter.
- 11:58Park, but it was all ice. Now Megan is a skier.
- 12:01She, you know, she's from Oregon.
- 12:03She loves, she loves the snow. She loves the snow.
- 12:05She just does. And so anyway, I, I, you know, I
- 12:08was like, I'm gonna, I gotta, you know, hit.
- 12:11I gotta hit this. So I gotta go down there, you
- 12:13know? So here I am.
- 12:16What? Were you like all bundled up or
- 12:20were you hating every minute? Of it, Oh, I hated every minute
- 12:23of it, but I didn't know how long.
- 12:24You got to be here. You know, you know how many
- 12:27times I've gone to things with my wife and hated being there
- 12:29because I'm just waiting for the after the aftermath?
- 12:32That's everything, not just your wife.
- 12:35Like that's like even work stuff.
- 12:37You would complain we got to go do this and then we'd get there
- 12:41and we would have a good time. So it's not really any
- 12:44different. That way I'm glad I did that.
- 12:46You do admit that, Yeah. You know, I'm glad I went, but
- 12:50trying to get like leading up to this event, listening to you the
- 12:54entire time is. Like, Oh my God, it should shock
- 12:59you, Michelle. It's so funny.
- 13:00I didn't come to your wedding and I'm amazed on how many
- 13:03people I run into nowadays. We're like, you can't come to my
- 13:06wedding besides you. Besides.
- 13:09You we're all pointing this out, right?
- 13:11Right now I now the older. Now again, I have tried to make
- 13:14it now gonna go Megan, I gonna go to a wedding here in Labor
- 13:18Day weekends coming up. You know, I just went to a
- 13:20wedding for one of my foster siblings or the part of their
- 13:23family. So, so I again I I do it more
- 13:26than I ever did back then. So.
- 13:28Well, that's good. You're getting out of your
- 13:29comfort zone a little well. I think because I'm gonna be
- 13:33dead soon, so I gotta get these things.
- 13:35I gotta get these things done. You're not gonna be dead soon, I
- 13:38feel like. So I feel like a lot of the
- 13:41stuff that we had to do when we worked at the radio station.
- 13:44So go to the fair of the 4th of July.
- 13:47And so I feel like now that I don't have to go do those
- 13:52things, I don't want to go. Like I don't want to go to the
- 13:54fairgrounds at the 4th of July. I don't want to go to those
- 13:57places where I was forced to go for my job, if that makes any
- 14:01sense, I'm sure. Other people can really get it
- 14:04so often and you know, it's the same thing like let's say
- 14:07downtown summer nights where we had to build sage or bull crap.
- 14:11I look back at all the bullshit like slave labor, like.
- 14:15Slave labor for free. We work for free.
- 14:19We're in the normal people wouldn't, wouldn't do any of
- 14:21that. And so looking looking back,
- 14:23it's like now I'm like, Nope, I'm I have no interest in in
- 14:27doing doing any of those things. So well, I know as we wrap up
- 14:31the Super Bowl, I know you're going to talk about the, the,
- 14:35the soup, the halftime show. I know that's on your agenda.
- 14:37Yes, but let's talk about commercials first.
- 14:39Oh, you want? To do commercials first, you
- 14:41want to be more positive first. What do you mean positive?
- 14:45The halftime show was good. OK, let's talk about
- 14:47commercials. So what was your favorite
- 14:49commercial? So I had a couple.
- 14:51So being a Pepsi fan, I really love the polar bears and I like
- 14:56the Coldplay, that riff on Coldplay.
- 15:00And then I really like the fact that these people are geniuses
- 15:03because the Will Shatner the William Shatner Raisin Bran.
- 15:08He was caught at a stoplight 2 weeks ago eating a bowl of
- 15:11cereal. No.
- 15:13Yes, and that's the reason why they made the commercial.
- 15:16So that's and I said who's sitting around in these
- 15:18marketing rooms and saw him and he was it was on TMZ.
- 15:21He was. Well, William, you're not TMZ.
- 15:25William Schett. Everywhere.
- 15:26Spotted at a stoplight eating cereal and he was, he was
- 15:29stopped at a stoplight eating cereal.
- 15:31And some genius in marketing goes, you know, And then the
- 15:35whole play on words was Will Schat with the fiber.
- 15:37Right. Yeah, you know, but all that.
- 15:39But it was because he had eaten a bowl of cereal.
- 15:42I. Didn't know that.
- 15:43I know it makes all sense because I was kind.
- 15:45Of you're like, why would they? Yeah, because you're like, why
- 15:47would they pick William Schat? And then the guy's like 94 years
- 15:50old. Yeah.
- 15:51Yeah, so that's still amazing that, you know, so he's a
- 15:53national treasure like Betty White.
- 15:55Yeah. And then, and then I got to go
- 15:57with the Clydesdale with the the bald eagle, the little little
- 16:00eagle that that chirps and got. And then the cool thing during
- 16:03the game, they panned the camera and there was a real life There
- 16:06was a real Clydesdale with a real bald eagle on top.
- 16:09Yeah, I. Thought, well, that was cool,
- 16:11yeah. What was your favorite?
- 16:12Mine would have to be the Lays, the farmer passing down the farm
- 16:16to his daughter, but which? I am a sucker for the tearjerker
- 16:21commercials, but that commercial featured a song by my favorite
- 16:27band, Keen Somewhere, Somewhere only we know.
- 16:30I mean, it wasn't performed by them in the commercial.
- 16:33It was performed by someone else.
- 16:35But they wrote that song. They performed that song.
- 16:37I instantly once like the music kicked in.
- 16:40I like hit Jay and he's probably like, what the hell is what's
- 16:44wrong? And I was like, Oh my God, it's
- 16:46it's Keen song and he's just like, OK, like whatever.
- 16:50So, so twofold why I like that commercials.
- 16:53Tearjerker and excellent song. Great, great choice by Lays,
- 16:58their marketing company. Yeah, these people are so, I
- 17:01mean, it's nice when you have unlimited budgets, amazing what
- 17:04they do. Well, okay, so the ads.
- 17:07Okay, here's one commercial I do want to talk about.
- 17:10An ad for the Super Bowl is 8 to $10 million, right?
- 17:14So, and for the last couple years they've had this, the
- 17:18Jesus commercial, like he gets us like, and in my mind, I'm
- 17:22thinking, OK, but I have read the Bible.
- 17:25I haven't had to, you know, go to catechism classes and all
- 17:29that kind of stuff. To me, I don't think Jesus would
- 17:32really want you spending 8 to $10 million for a commercial for
- 17:38him. I mean, I get that he tells us
- 17:40that we need to go and teach the gospel and, you know, that kind
- 17:44of stuff. But I don't think he meant like
- 17:46spend 8 to $10 million on a commercial when you could be
- 17:51using that money to help feed and care for the sick and the
- 17:55poor, which is what he was about.
- 17:58Like make it make sense to me. I don't understand this at all,
- 18:03so am I wrong? No, no, I, I, those have been
- 18:06playing for the last couple years.
- 18:07But I want to, I want to, I, I agree with that.
- 18:10Why would you not just spend 8 to $10 million on homelessness
- 18:12or, or feeding people? But like I always say, we've
- 18:16got, you know, same in Yakima, same in tri-cities, we've got
- 18:18big churches with, with golden statues on top.
- 18:21And so is that is that, is that really the mission?
- 18:26No. And that's, and that's where I
- 18:28sit and I, oh, and well, and, and yeah, we'll get into the
- 18:32other stuff about it, but yes, I'm, I'm with you on that.
- 18:35Oh, did you like the Dunkin' Donuts 1?
- 18:37I mean, it was OK. I thought I was really going to
- 18:39like it because you saw the little teaser commercials of
- 18:44them, you know, like Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck, and
- 18:48then the little teaser about watch the Super Bowl ad.
- 18:51I thought it was OK. I was just kind of like.
- 18:54Even with the 90s guest stars from everybody in it.
- 18:56Yeah, I mean, that was cute, but I was just.
- 18:58I was like, OK. And Sabrina Carpenter, of
- 19:02course, the the Pringles. Yeah, Pringles person.
- 19:05Was kind of cute. Yeah.
- 19:06Yeah, that. Was great.
- 19:07So yeah, those those. Those OK, all right, there was
- 19:10some there's some good one I think I I felt I felt this
- 19:13year's commercials were better than previous years.
- 19:16Maybe I would just be in paying more attention to them, but I I
- 19:19felt like we've had a lull in really good unique.
- 19:23Yes. Oh, and of course the Jurassic
- 19:25Park 10, that's another good one where they're like.
- 19:27That one was good. Yeah, that was.
- 19:29Well well, the technology to D age everybody is insane.
- 19:33Yes, yeah. So you got everybody kind of.
- 19:36Scary too in. A way, but even going back to
- 19:38the the Dunkin Donut, they're all D age.
- 19:40Yes, yeah. So it is creepy to see what?
- 19:44Yeah, it's creepy to see what AI is doing.
- 19:46Yes, yeah. And that might be why I don't
- 19:49like some some of them just because I don't know, AI is just
- 19:54with the deep fake videos. It's so good now sometimes you
- 19:58can't tell if it's really that person or not that person.
- 20:02And it's a lot of people believe it.
- 20:05And I think that's the issue I have with it.
- 20:08And there's no restrictions on any of it.
- 20:10And I. Don't know, do you think that
- 20:12you would have enjoyed the Duncan commercial if they were
- 20:14all their their proper age right now?
- 20:15Yes, Yeah, probably. Instead of trying to de age
- 20:18them, just have them be old actually.
- 20:19Yeah, probably. Yeah, probably.
- 20:22I probably would have then a little more open to liking it,
- 20:27no? But that's just me with AI just
- 20:29a little bit. But I did I really enjoyed I
- 20:31think this and what I cheat. So here's what I love best
- 20:35about. You already watched all the
- 20:37commercials. On YouTube, They're on YouTube,
- 20:39so I love that they released them early.
- 20:41So it's kind of like it's kind of like not having to watch
- 20:44Saturday Night Live anymore because I know hey, that if that
- 20:47if someone says, oh, Sabrina Carpenter's on there, whoever's
- 20:50on there, I can go see it on YouTube.
- 20:51I don't have. Or just watch that one skit.
- 20:53You don't have to watch the entirety of SNL anymore, right?
- 20:57Or any, or any interview show which I, you know, I just want
- 20:59to see what I want to see. So I do love the convenience of
- 21:01that, but I felt the commercials this year were pretty good.
- 21:04Yeah, yeah, I agree. All right, let's talk about the
- 21:06halftime show. I this.
- 21:07Is what you know Zach, Zach Morris time out.
- 21:12I thought it was awesome. My Spanish is like very minimal
- 21:17and not great. I am working on it with
- 21:20Duolingo, but that's even that's like a train wreck I'm trying.
- 21:25But I thought it was wonderful just in the way it represented
- 21:30Puerto Rico and every aspect about it and everything,
- 21:34everything that Bad Bunny is about.
- 21:36And what he was trying to say was conveyed in subtle ways that
- 21:42if you didn't know some of the things, like some I noticed
- 21:45people were like, well, why was he on power poles?
- 21:48You know, they have problems with their power.
- 21:50And it's like, no shit. Like that's why he was like,
- 21:54like, that's why he was right. That's why that was the message.
- 21:59So it's just crazy to me that people didn't understand and a
- 22:03lot of that and where it comes from, but I think that's just
- 22:07knowledge and being. In the know or beauty I.
- 22:11Don't. Realize that 5060% of the
- 22:13country doesn't realize that Puerto Rico's part of America.
- 22:16Right. That is and has been part of
- 22:19America longer than some of our states like Oklahoma OR.
- 22:23Alaska to Hawaii or not yes, yes, but, but, but it's that
- 22:27insanity. So I, you know, for me it was
- 22:29like, so I went back and forth because I really want to check
- 22:31out, you know. So the turning point.
- 22:34I did. I watched.
- 22:34I did not watch that one, So what did you think?
- 22:38So well, so here's what the kicker was was pre recorded.
- 22:42Oh and didn't Kid Rock like mess up his like?
- 22:45Well, like, so they were thinking they were.
- 22:48I wouldn't say that all the performers are lip syncing and I
- 22:50don't believe no. And sometimes you have to.
- 22:53But it was not as you sync. It was not insane.
- 22:55And so, yeah. That's what I saw.
- 22:57I saw that clip and sometimes in those those things like you have
- 23:01to there, there's no way around it.
- 23:03Like you have to lip sync some of these things.
- 23:06I mean, you and I know that, but a lot of like the general
- 23:08audience. Yeah, but doesn't know that or
- 23:10understand. That, but that show wasn't even
- 23:12recorded at the time of the Super Bowl.
- 23:13So let's let's let's say, let's say hypothetically that Bad
- 23:17Bunny was lip syncing, right? Right, right.
- 23:19But but, but at least it was live while they're doing all
- 23:23the, you know, the pornography and everything.
- 23:26It was live. This wasn't even it wasn't even
- 23:30live and it was prerecorded or pre taped.
- 23:33It wasn't. It wasn't live at the time.
- 23:36Does that make sense? Right, so they just so they
- 23:40prerecorded it and then made sure it aired during the exact
- 23:43time that the the Super Bowl have time.
- 23:46Okay. Yep, that's it.
- 23:47Yeah, I didn't know it wasn't prerecorded.
- 23:50That was yeah, that's the reason Kid Rock recently just said
- 23:53that's why it wasn't synced up because it wasn't it wasn't
- 23:56synced up because and he caught even said even in post
- 23:59production he goes, oh, that's gonna that doesn't look good and
- 24:02they still aired it anyway. Oh yeah, they could have gone
- 24:05back in late. So he was so.
- 24:07Yeah, so. But but my big thing about it
- 24:09was, yeah. So to me, it's like, if you're
- 24:12going to do a Super Bowl, other alternative show, I'd like it to
- 24:15be they're live, whatever location they're at, like, hey,
- 24:19we're in Philadelphia and we're near the Liberty Bell or
- 24:22whatever, and here's our here's our talent.
- 24:24I would have respected that more than just something that was
- 24:26schlocky, prerecorded great. Now the talent was great.
- 24:30Gabby Barrett, Lee Bryce, give Kid Rock is due.
- 24:33I mean, I'm not here to, you know, to, to bash on that.
- 24:36I, I think that I wanted to so badly.
- 24:39I wanted to go so badly on my Facebook page and talk about it,
- 24:43but I did not. But here's what I what I look at
- 24:45it from a radio programming standpoint, and we've had this
- 24:48discussion before when we, when you program a radio station,
- 24:53who's the audience and what are the best songs for the audience?
- 24:55And that's what you play. And so I remember so many years
- 24:58ago, the radio station, I'm not going to mention names because
- 25:03they might be listening, but I remember when we, you and I were
- 25:06doing, I don't, I don't have to mention the station.
- 25:10I'm just saying that we had an account executive walk in who
- 25:13was so far out of the demo, so far out of the demo and goes,
- 25:17yeah, I don't. And goes, I don't like your
- 25:18radio station. And I just, and I looked at him
- 25:21and I said I didn't build it for you.
- 25:23And I've always remembered that. So it's OK.
- 25:26I leave my humble opinion now, this will get my son upset or
- 25:29whatever. It's OK to have alternative.
- 25:31Hey, you don't want to watch the Super Bowl mid halftime that
- 25:34that's America. You're allowed to, you know,
- 25:37you're allowed to go to the alternative viewing and watch
- 25:40what satisfies you. Now, what you're not allowed to
- 25:44do is take away somebody else's enjoyment of what they enjoy.
- 25:48And I saw, and I saw a lot of that going on on Facebook where
- 25:52they would go. That's the half that halftime
- 25:55show sucked. I'm like, wait a minute, you,
- 25:58you, you weren't what? You weren't what you didn't.
- 26:00And some people even admit they didn't even watch it.
- 26:02So they're just going off of just their own.
- 26:05Oh, I just don't like Bad Bunny or Spanish music.
- 26:08Right, right. Well, yeah, their own.
- 26:09Prejudice, basically. Well, yeah, but but and I had A
- 26:13and I had a friend on Facebook. Now here's I have I have a
- 26:16friend who lives in Yakima. She's really, she is nice and
- 26:18she's got a couple kids and she went up and oh, she goes, oh,
- 26:21you know, Bad Bunny was awful. Duh, duh, duh.
- 26:23Well, people retaliated on her hardcore, you know what I'm
- 26:26saying? Now she normally she's a
- 26:29Trumper. She is a Trumper.
- 26:31So people who knew her knew that she was already a Trumper.
- 26:34So then they just, they just dog piled on her about the show.
- 26:37And then she really took it offensively.
- 26:39Like, that doesn't mean I'm racist because and, and, and I
- 26:42will give her credit, she's a country music fan.
- 26:44She's a country music fan. So duh, I don't blame you for
- 26:47going to watch Lee Bryce, Gabby Barrett and Brantley Gilbert and
- 26:52Kid Rock, duh. I mean, she's a country fan.
- 26:55I get that, but she did go on her Facebook and she kind of
- 26:58asked for it by saying though the the Bad Bunny show sucked.
- 27:02Well, because you know, your political, we know your
- 27:05political leaning. And so people took, people sadly
- 27:09took advantage of that and said, you know, but I was very
- 27:12impressed. I got to say, I had a bunch of
- 27:15#1 big Dad, you know, remember Carson Cornell big.
- 27:18Dad. He's in.
- 27:19Florida. He's in Tallahassee forever.
- 27:22Him and his cope, him and his, him and his Co partner in
- 27:26Tallahassee. Both of them, I was surprised by
- 27:29they said to each their own about the Super Bowl.
- 27:32You know what I'm saying? I really expected to take the
- 27:34Trumper side of things because they're Trumpers.
- 27:36But they didn't. They didn't.
- 27:38They said to each that, you know, watch the show that
- 27:41pleases your musical taste and that really at the end of the
- 27:44day. That's what I was going to say.
- 27:47Like you're allowed to say this performance was not my personal
- 27:52taste. It's but something that happens
- 27:54in a free society. Like, you know, you don't have
- 27:57to be racist about it. You don't have to bash Bad
- 28:00Bunny. You don't have to bash Puerto
- 28:02Rico. You could just say like, this
- 28:05isn't my taste and you know, that's that, that's all you have
- 28:10to say. You don't have to say anything
- 28:12else. Well.
- 28:13And like, and like Megan said, it's like Pavarotti, would you
- 28:16tell Pavarotti, you know, when, when they're singing in French
- 28:19or Spanish or German or whatever.
- 28:21Nina 99 left balloons that songs in that songs in German.
- 28:25Yes, on the radio, you're going to tell Nina when she comes to
- 28:28America, you better sing it in, you know, And then and then the,
- 28:31the, there's a couple idiocracies that are going on #1
- 28:35America does not have official language, so to keep.
- 28:37So to keep. Spewing English.
- 28:39That's that's incorrect. And then to say that Bad Bunny
- 28:43is not an American or that he, you know, you know, Puerto
- 28:45Rico's part is part of the country.
- 28:47I mean, so there are a lot of ignorance and then and then what
- 28:51is the need to literally go on social media and just basically
- 28:54start a fight with a bunch of strangers?
- 28:55Because it's easy, because it's social media and you can say the
- 28:59things that you would not say to anybody's face.
- 29:02You can go on there and be as strong in your opinion as you
- 29:06want to be and but you wouldn't say that.
- 29:09To. Somebody's face.
- 29:11I always laugh, though you'd never say to somebody's face.
- 29:13No, I, I was more fascinated. I watched, I watched it.
- 29:16So I was jumping in and out and I, you're going to laugh.
- 29:20I was like, how the hell they get the trees out there?
- 29:22So I saw a video later. Where's?
- 29:25People, there's people, but I could come in and out.
- 29:27I was going in and out and I'm like, where are?
- 29:29These trees, and do you know why?
- 29:30Do you know why they had to do that?
- 29:33With the trees. Yeah, with them being I.
- 29:36Don't. Well, you can't move trees.
- 29:37I mean real trees into that yeah, that too.
- 29:40OK, so Levi's Stadium is real grass and so they only would
- 29:45allow X amount of carts, so to speak.
- 29:48And so the designer to work around that and in what bad
- 29:54buddy envisioned and wanted for the performance, that was his
- 29:57way of getting around. You can only have X amount of
- 30:00carts come out on the field because it's real grass and
- 30:03you're. So they had the people walking
- 30:04out as. Trees.
- 30:05But I thought that was a genius though.
- 30:07I was like, Oh my God, that's great.
- 30:08Like because. Because if you were like me
- 30:10coming in later, you're like, hey, where'd these trees come
- 30:13from? And then my mind was like, not
- 30:15just about how they could get these trees off the field,
- 30:17right, Right. Or how'd they get them on and?
- 30:19Right, because it has to happen in like 7 minutes, like
- 30:22everything has to happen. So the only reason it made me
- 30:24think about that was I remembered that Allegiance
- 30:27Field, Legion Stadium in Vegas, when they're not using the
- 30:30field, it's out in like their parking lot, like like the whole
- 30:33field is. And it goes.
- 30:35They have a system that they have a pulley that brings the
- 30:38field in. Yeah.
- 30:39And so to me, I was like, is this, and I don't know much
- 30:41about Levi Stadium, like is this one of those where they have two
- 30:43fields and they can move a field?
- 30:45No, it's real grass, so it. Was no, it was.
- 30:48So no. I really thoroughly enjoyed it.
- 30:50Loved the message. Again, you know, that Bunny is
- 30:53like the biggest global, global superstar.
- 30:57And again, who's the audience and what are the right songs for
- 31:00the audience? And so the NFL is trying to
- 31:02reach a global audience. I mean, you're going to go with
- 31:04the number one streaming artist. Yeah, 190 billion streams.
- 31:10Yeah, I mean. It's all about money.
- 31:12The NFL was smart and was like, who is going to generate us the
- 31:16most eyeballs and the most money?
- 31:18Of course, this was the most watched halftime show ever, so
- 31:23they just got their bang for their buck right there.
- 31:25Well, but but but again, I always ask, you know, there
- 31:30there just comes a point to where you're like, you're not
- 31:32the audience. No, and I understand why.
- 31:34I mean, it's one of those things where a great example watershed
- 31:39is on hiatus for this year. But but even when they even when
- 31:42they announce a lineup of watershed, it's amazing how
- 31:45people get so upset about who's there and who who's there and
- 31:48who's not. And I'm like, well, number one,
- 31:51who buys records young people. So why?
- 31:54So why would they? And I hey does not mean I don't
- 31:56like Clint Black, but why would I book Clint Black?
- 31:59Right, it wouldn't go the audience. 90s artist.
- 32:02Right. But but now the cool thing is
- 32:05there is a 90s country festival going on that I just saw online,
- 32:08which has all those great artists and, and so those people
- 32:11who love though, you know, you know, it's like, but why do
- 32:14people, why do I, I feel like it's a sense of entitlement more
- 32:17than anything else, that, that people feel that they're
- 32:20entitled to what their opinion or their viewpoint or what
- 32:23their. Music like.
- 32:25Yeah, I mean, if if I had my way, Super Bowl would have Toto,
- 32:28Survivor and Mr. Mr. Yeah, yes, that'll never happen.
- 32:30I mean, that's my personal if. I had my way.
- 32:33It would be keen. No one wants to hear that music
- 32:35at a Super Bowl. I mean, that's it's almost
- 32:38they're they kind of sound like Coldplay, right?
- 32:41So which I mean, Coldplay was there, but at least, you know,
- 32:44no one would want king there. I wouldn't want king there.
- 32:47I'd be like no so. You're there satisfying.
- 32:50Yeah, you're there satisfying one person now.
- 32:53Now, do I think that Jay-Z has slanted some of the
- 32:57representation? I look at when Jay-Z came on
- 32:59board and it's so it's Rihanna. It's been.
- 33:03It's been. Who's not American people?
- 33:05No, no, I know. I get it.
- 33:07But I do. I do.
- 33:08And again, I'm not saying that it's wrong, I'm just saying
- 33:11there is a slant to who Jay-Z has booked.
- 33:14Now, does Jay-Z, does Jay-Z say I don't feel there's enough
- 33:18representation of what truly is the hottest music out there?
- 33:22I'm not saying a skin color. I'm saying the representation of
- 33:25the hottest music out there. I think I see that, you know,
- 33:29so, but when you look at when you go look at the Wikipedia
- 33:31page when Jay-Z took over, it's all it.
- 33:34Well, it is. It's all black urban artists.
- 33:37So some people could say make a case.
- 33:39Well, why doesn't he book, you know, Maroon 5 or Aerosmith and
- 33:44all that The Who they were all pre Jay-Z.
- 33:46So now, now it's been Rihanna the weekend, Bruno.
- 33:52I mean, definitely. Well, there's a slant.
- 33:55Right. Almost like a press.
- 33:56But all those artists are have been super positive since then.
- 33:59So they're massive. It's not like, yeah, they're I
- 34:03agree, I agree. But I'm only pointing that out
- 34:06that if you do look at it like, oh, that's interesting.
- 34:08They're all, they're all slanted one way, but they are the
- 34:11biggest, they are the biggest stars on the planet.
- 34:14And and you know what, No matter what we do, none of it will
- 34:17satisfy anybody. No, there's always going to be
- 34:20someone again, because we all have different.
- 34:22Look at music just in general. There are so many genres and you
- 34:26as a person can't like all these.
- 34:29Sure, you might have multiple different genres that you like
- 34:32at a time, and a lot of us do, but it's like you.
- 34:36Not one of us is going to like every single musical genre and
- 34:40be happy with it. It's just not how things work.
- 34:43It's not how the world. Works it.
- 34:45Just doesn't work that way. Right.
- 34:47A great example is the Pendleton and the music fest is coming up
- 34:50here, which is awesome. And you've got Zach Top, you've
- 34:53got Carly Pierce, you've got Shabuzzi, and you got Diamond
- 34:56Rio. Now Diamond Rio is one of the
- 34:57opening acts and Diamond Rio is going to be great.
- 34:59Meet me in the middle. But that's 90s country, which is
- 35:0165 or 55 to 65 plus are going to enjoy that.
- 35:05All those young kids that are 25 years old who want to see
- 35:07Shabuzzi are at the bar, at the beer tents.
- 35:11Yeah, it's not, it's not. It's not a slight on Diamond
- 35:14Rio. They're fantastic.
- 35:15I will tell you, years ago we went to the Pendleton Whiskey
- 35:19Music Fest and Clay Walker and then and then it was Cole
- 35:23Swindell after Clay Walker, then Toby Keith.
- 35:25The sound difference alone between Clay Walker and Cole
- 35:29Swindell was insane. In terms of production value.
- 35:34Clay Walker, who I love, I, I enjoy it and I'm, and I'm a huge
- 35:38Cole Swindell fan. I love Cole Swindell.
- 35:40Sounded dated. Oh.
- 35:43I think he's. Also, what 60s and doesn't he
- 35:45have Ms. So come on he. But he's fan, he doesn't have
- 35:48any of he he doesn't show any of that.
- 35:50It's just but when you hear but when you hear his songs, you
- 35:53know, they the production value was even dated, not just the
- 35:57song, not just the songs. I'm saying the sound.
- 36:01So when so when So here, you know, it's kind of like this.
- 36:03Here's here's Clay Walker and then Cole Swindell takes the
- 36:06stage right after him. It it sounds current, it sounds
- 36:11loud. I guess the word is loud.
- 36:13The loudness just literally changed like overnight.
- 36:17I mean, well, like the next act, you know?
- 36:19And so to me, I call that production value.
- 36:21So. I see.
- 36:22So again, it's it, it, it's like it's to each their own and, and
- 36:26so but people, people are crazy. I know.
- 36:28So for me, Bad Bunny, I don't know who you're going to get.
- 36:31Like who's bigger? I think Sabrina Carpenter has
- 36:34gotten. You know, Oh, yes.
- 36:35I know I've mentioned her a couple times on.
- 36:37This I love Sabrina Carpenter. I don't know why, you know, but
- 36:41but I think that if she continues the way she is, she's
- 36:45going to be spotlighted one of these time, no doubt.
- 36:47And then, and then, just like she was on Saturday Night Live,
- 36:50she was in her panties and people lost their and I'm like,
- 36:54I'm loving it. I'm.
- 36:55Like, yeah, and I was going to say, but you loved it, I
- 36:58thought. I mean, it was cute.
- 36:59I'm a butt guy, so I was all about it.
- 37:01You shake it, Sabrina, But I'm just saying.
- 37:03If she feels, hey girl, if you feel confident in yourself to do
- 37:07that in front of the, you know, entire country, do it.
- 37:11You know, it's not like she was naked.
- 37:13She was clothed for God's sake, so.
- 37:15But but that again, again, it's who you build it for.
- 37:18And they're trying to reach a whole different audience and a
- 37:21worldwide audience and all that. And, and Gammy and Pappy who are
- 37:24like 85 years old, they're going to stroke.
- 37:26I get it. I get.
- 37:27Them it wasn't just 85 year olds.
- 37:29Oh, I know Facebook so. I know.
- 37:31Well, they all, I always make the joke.
- 37:33They all look the same. Anybody who's bitching and
- 37:36moaning about it, well, they all look the same.
- 37:39I mean, yeah, they're, they're, yeah, there's, they're, yeah.
- 37:43So I, OK, I did not watch the Turning Point, but I did see
- 37:47like bits and pieces. Like I said, I saw this Kid
- 37:50Rock, like not In Sync, but I did see like kind of the message
- 37:55was God and country, that kind of thing.
- 37:58And Bad Bunny had the the only thing more powerful than hate is
- 38:02love. And so yeah, right.
- 38:06And so to me, so, so the turning point, like sure, they had that,
- 38:11like they said God, but there wasn't like there wasn't like a
- 38:16message of like, OK, what would God and Jesus want you?
- 38:20To they're not interested in that.
- 38:22No, it was just like. Saying that speak, they only
- 38:25speak to to to their people. You know what I'm saying?
- 38:29But they're. Not.
- 38:30They're not interested in inclusion.
- 38:31They're not interested. But at least Bad Bunny's message
- 38:35was like, this is what the Bible is.
- 38:38This is what you are supposed to be.
- 38:40At. Least they had like the message
- 38:42of what the Bible is about instead of just saying like God.
- 38:47You know there's no. Message to that.
- 38:49But you're not going to win that battle.
- 38:51No, but I'm just saying that. Like the complete difference.
- 38:55In that. But someone had posted that
- 38:57Jesus didn't speak English, no? And he wasn't white.
- 39:00He. Wasn't white people.
- 39:02He's not white, he doesn't speak English.
- 39:04He's the biggest, he's the biggest socialist of all time.
- 39:07But you have to understand they don't see it that way.
- 39:11No. You know.
- 39:12But I just thought it was like just only.
- 39:15People, only people like them. Right, that only them.
- 39:19Yeah, right. They, yeah, it's it's, yeah.
- 39:22It's why. It's why I left the church all
- 39:25these years, all. Those years ago, yeah.
- 39:27You know, it had. I always tell people it had
- 39:30nothing to do with God. It's God's fans.
- 39:32I've always said that that's what pushed me to leave.
- 39:35Like, yeah, it's his fan. Just started seeing everything
- 39:39that it's like this is. You are a hypocrite.
- 39:42This is crazy. I have no problem with God,
- 39:45never have. I have a problem with the fan
- 39:47club. I have a fan.
- 39:48I I can't be around. I cannot be around those people.
- 39:51I can't. I can't and, and it's disgusting
- 39:55and I, I just cannot be in a group of people.
- 39:57I refuse to be in a group of people where they say one thing
- 40:00on Sunday morning and then walk out and act totally different.
- 40:03And I, I just, I, you know, I'm not perfect.
- 40:06I make a billion mistakes a day, but at least I am honest and
- 40:11true with myself. And, and one thing that I, I
- 40:15will tell a story. And I was 28 years old and we
- 40:20had just moved to Yakima. And, and I was working at one O
- 40:237 and we enrolled Logan at the elementary school, I think on
- 40:28Nob Hill. And so I think he was in second
- 40:30grade or first grade, one of those things.
- 40:32And so we'd gone in and got him registered and the teacher said,
- 40:35hey, by the way, this is a bilingual class.
- 40:39So I teach the kids Spanish at the same time they're running AB
- 40:42CS and English and all that. OK.
- 40:44And I was taken back by that and I said, I don't want my kid to
- 40:47learn Spanish. No, I'm yes, 28 years old from
- 40:52Clarkson in Washington, the whitest town on the planet.
- 40:54And, and, and my ignorance at 28 was like, I don't want my kid.
- 40:59Why would I want my kid to learn Spanish?
- 41:00You know Yakima 6450 to 60% of the town is Hispanic.
- 41:05Great, it's agriculture. Who do you think is out in the
- 41:07field? It just is but 28 years old and
- 41:11and it wasn't against it wasn't a racist situation.
- 41:14It was just me going why, why would he need to learn Spanish,
- 41:17right? You know, I mean, it was your.
- 41:19Ignorance. At that age, it was ignorant
- 41:20time. It's ignorant, it's ignorant,
- 41:22but at least. You're like, at least you've
- 41:25evolved and you can admit that and you you see it and you
- 41:29learned from it. It's not like you just stayed in
- 41:31that the rest of your life like some of these people.
- 41:33We. Did as kids?
- 41:35I have spoken a lot about we'd slant our eyes when we were
- 41:38kids. Oh yes.
- 41:40So, so we don't do that at 55 years of age?
- 41:44No, because, because it's not funny.
- 41:47No, and my nephew, which granted he's only 5 and he did that at a
- 41:52dinner we were at and which my brother was like away from me,
- 41:56which he probably wouldn't have liked this if you would have.
- 41:58And I was like, OK, well we we don't do that.
- 42:01OK, like that. I just calmly and said to him, I
- 42:04didn't say why. I didn't have to give him a
- 42:07reason. I didn't say it's racist.
- 42:09I mean, I probably should have, but again, like my brother
- 42:13wouldn't have corrected him, would have been fine with it.
- 42:16I wanted to make sure, you know, I just said, OK, we don't do
- 42:20that, Don't do that, OK. And he was he, he just kind of
- 42:24like nodded his head yes and didn't do it again.
- 42:27Not whether he does it again somewhere else, I don't know,
- 42:30but. But you would.
- 42:31But you evolved, remember, Because being from Clarkson,
- 42:33Lewiston, yeah, we had people that were obviously in our high
- 42:37school class, gay or lesbian. It never came out.
- 42:41Now, no one in my high school came out.
- 42:42They came out. They came out later.
- 42:44Right after you left. But but I remember using gay as
- 42:47a derogatory term when I was a teenager.
- 42:49Oh yeah. You know, like, oh, that's so
- 42:50gay or whatever. You know, it's the same thing as
- 42:53when I first met Megan and I used I said, oh, that's
- 42:55retarded. And she's what she goes, what'd
- 42:57you say? No, but she said, you know what
- 42:59I'm saying? Growth.
- 43:00Growth is recognizing the behavior and changing the
- 43:05behavior and saying, you know what, I'm ignorant.
- 43:07I'm sorry, I won't let and then you are cognitive going forward
- 43:11of not doing those things. Right.
- 43:13So that's to me growth. Yeah, which yeah, again like
- 43:17saying the hard word for us growing up with no batter than I
- 43:22yeah. But he but saying, but he was
- 43:24saying, Oh, that's gay, right. You know, that was that was the
- 43:28time we lived in and but but you don't do it today, correct.
- 43:33And that's, and that's kind of how I look at the evolution of
- 43:36somebody. If you're not progressing and
- 43:39moving forward as a person, I don't.
- 43:41Yeah, I don't know. Because people can I.
- 43:45People can change. People can change, you know?
- 43:48But when? But when you refuse to change,
- 43:50or you see only your way, and you'll be damned if you do,
- 43:54damned if you don't. My, my, I've talked about a lot.
- 43:58My wonderful foster mother would not put up with any of this
- 44:01behavior. No, not at all.
- 44:04No, no, Matt, no matter what I never saw.
- 44:08Yeah, what's that? Beat your ass.
- 44:11She would there's no like, you know, should be out to Virgil.
- 44:14There's some weeds to get pulled.
- 44:16They'll teach you a lesson. Some manual labor will teach you
- 44:18a little lesson about that. So yeah, but but yeah, so yeah.
- 44:23So for me, Super Bowl show excellent, love the message,
- 44:27incredibly creative. I cannot wait to see what they
- 44:29do next year if if Turning Point wants to do their big country
- 44:33all white American show again. That's that's up to them.
- 44:36But but the viewership of course, has already come out and
- 44:39there was, you know, 3 million or 2 million whatever for the
- 44:42all American and and 130 some for bad bad Bunny.
- 44:47It's like it's not, it's not doing that is not going to
- 44:50change the NFL from changing their strategy on on what they
- 44:56do next year because because. If anything, you just solidify
- 45:02for them, right, that they need to stay on this path.
- 45:06You would just prove to them what they're doing because NFL.
- 45:09The day at the end of the day for a corporation, the only way
- 45:12you take down a corporation is nobody buys your product and
- 45:17that's it. And I always laugh.
- 45:18It's like we, we talk about, let's just say hypothetically,
- 45:21the Cowboys. We talk about the Cowboys.
- 45:23They haven't won in 30 plus years and yet they are still the
- 45:26number one most valued franchise in all of football above anybody
- 45:32because the merchandise, the viewing rights, they still
- 45:35they're still deemed America's team.
- 45:37You know what I'm saying? They when they when they play
- 45:39whoever they play the TV viewing rights they get, they draw the
- 45:43most audience for even or even being shitty, right.
- 45:47And until that changes, why would they?
- 45:49Again, they're not going to change course.
- 45:51And that goes the same with the NFL.
- 45:52They're not going to suddenly wake up and go, you know what we
- 45:55got? We got to bring out, you know,
- 45:56Diamond Real and Clint Black. Kid Rock.
- 45:58Now I will say before we get off the topic, the the person who
- 46:02started this and we joked about it before, Michael Jackson, yes,
- 46:07Barkley. Barkley agrees.
- 46:08Which I think like in Jimmy Kimmel's monologue he showed
- 46:12like 1 1/2 time shows from 1980 people.
- 46:17White people has made the most appearances at the Super Bowl 5
- 46:20appearances, Up with People. Oh, remember, it used to be
- 46:23marching bands and Up with people.
- 46:26And then Michael Jackson 1993 blew the place away and now it's
- 46:30the biggest spectacle on the planet.
- 46:31So yeah. And then and and then everybody
- 46:34else that followed after that before that.
- 46:36So what do you So again, entitled people, what do you
- 46:38want? You know you want you want you
- 46:41want a marching band or do you want a global superstar?
- 46:45They would probably say marching band.
- 46:47Of course they would. Yeah, of course of.
- 46:49Course you know. That's I want, I want a good
- 46:50polka. You know, it's kind of like when
- 46:52you watch that movie in Vietnam, which is one of my favorite
- 46:55movies of all time, where the program director's like, no, we
- 46:58play polkas and da da, da da. And Robin Williams is playing
- 47:02The Beach Boys. Right, right.
- 47:04Is that which dog is that Barkley?
- 47:07He can't hear. He doesn't know.
- 47:09See if. I can.
- 47:09What's that? He's deaf.
- 47:11I know he doesn't know. Oh, buddy.
- 47:15I remember Barclays deaf these days.
- 47:17Right. He's like, why aren't we going
- 47:18out to play? What are you doing?
- 47:20Because remember I? I left the doors all open.
- 47:23So. So he's just going in and out.
- 47:26Well, they are having a good old time.
- 47:28Yeah. So, yes.
- 47:30So because that instead of being closed, he thinks he wants like
- 47:33why are we not going to cut so? Did you see that Pedro Pascal
- 47:38was also in the the halftime show in the casita dancing?
- 47:43I missed it well because remember I was bouncing in and
- 47:45out between the two the 2. So I missed him.
- 47:47He was one of the. Guys.
- 47:47Well, there you go, Cardi B. And and you did send me a
- 47:51picture. Not that.
- 47:52Not that I needed that in my phone.
- 47:55I said yes. I said I would find a picture
- 47:59and send it to you and prove to you because you are questioning
- 48:03what I see him Pedro Pascal, and it's not just me like you can
- 48:07ask him multiple women, which I think we had one comment in our
- 48:10Instagram. Rick, you whatever she said.
- 48:12Yeah, that is the picture I sent.
- 48:15I tried to find a recent one and a good one like he my.
- 48:20Wife's gonna be like, well, why is there a picture of Pedro
- 48:22Pascal on your phone? OK.
- 48:25You should make that your screensaver.
- 48:27I know I should I resend whatever I said.
- 48:30Not that I'm a not that I'm a judge of good looking men, but
- 48:34you know, he's not unattractive. I'll put it.
- 48:36That way he's. Not unattractive.
- 48:38I understand why. Why?
- 48:40You know why you would would, would like him now.
- 48:43So there you go. So that's been cleared up.
- 48:45OK. Yes, Yeah.
- 48:46I wanted to make sure that we talked about that in this
- 48:50podcast, OK. And also because we're already.
- 48:54Gosh, I know. Are you going to?
- 48:55We're already almost like an hour though.
- 48:57I know going back to Pedro Pascal, are you going to go see
- 49:00him in The Mandalorian with with Groku?
- 49:02Wait, you won't. You won't see.
- 49:05Him. I know that's it Will.
- 49:06Just be his voice. I know he's never.
- 49:08Which I which I watch some Mandalorian on Disney Plus just
- 49:12to hear his voice. But you don't.
- 49:13I mean sometimes, like in certain episodes, he'll take his
- 49:17helmet off, but that's very rare.
- 49:18Yeah. So I was curious how how you're
- 49:21going to do that when that movie comes.
- 49:23I will wait till it comes down on Disney Plus probably and just
- 49:26like sit there and just listen to his voice and just picture
- 49:29him in my head like like that picture just like shirtless.
- 49:33So there you go. OK, since we're almost out of
- 49:36time, I did want to show you these.
- 49:41Can you see? Oh my gosh.
- 49:43Oh. Geez, so our good friend Soul
- 49:46made these for us. So there's one for me and one
- 49:49for you. Isn't that so nice of her?
- 49:52So I will make sure you get yours and if probably if any one
- 49:56that listens to our podcast wants a coffee.
- 49:59So when? I'm sitting in like.
- 50:02Cartoon. Yeah, with our cartoon faces on
- 50:05it. We could.
- 50:07I'm not sure how much she would charge.
- 50:08I couldn't ask her. And then you can buy 1.
- 50:11And I know. I thought that was so nice of
- 50:14her, so it was her birthday on Saturday so I saw her and she
- 50:18gave this to me. So tell her.
- 50:19Tell. Her happy birthday.
- 50:21Yeah. OK, well, we're almost at an
- 50:23hour. There's so much other stuff I
- 50:24wanted to talk about, but I know Valentine's Day is coming up.
- 50:29We can talk about this probably next week.
- 50:31And then we can see how you do for Valentine's Day with Megan.
- 50:35And also her birthday's right after Valentine's Day, Right.
- 50:38So. So before we but.
- 50:40You have an extra $100 because you won this so.
- 50:42We like no no I so we got like 5 minutes left real quick.
- 50:46I'll get this really quick, okay?
- 50:48My wife does not care about Valentine's Day and luckily
- 50:50she's not home. Because her birthday is more
- 50:51important, right? Right, well, I've got that taken
- 50:54care of. Okay, so you're good.
- 50:55But but my but my wife doesn't. I mean like you like.
- 51:00Wait, wait. Like no, no, she cares about
- 51:02Valentine's Day because remember the Valentine's that you sent
- 51:05her flowers the day before Valentine's Day because it was
- 51:08cheaper to send them the day before than the day of.
- 51:10And I told you don't do that. But that she's not.
- 51:13Going to like that. But that's years ago.
- 51:15So years ago has changed, like I would tell you.
- 51:19So I've been trying to find, like I said, hey, what do you
- 51:20want to do for Valentine's Day? And it started last week.
- 51:23Like she goes, oh, let's go out to dinner.
- 51:24So OK, that's good. And then I said a couple days
- 51:26ago, hey, what do you want to do for Valentine?
- 51:28She goes, oh, maybe we'll just stay in.
- 51:30So she's already, she's already not, not staying in a good way.
- 51:33Just like, OK, so you're going to be in sweats basically and
- 51:35watching Beverly Hills 9-O21-O what she's been doing every
- 51:39single night. I'm like, I mean, I don't know
- 51:41about you. Do you get dressed up for Jay?
- 51:43Do you put on his favorite, his favorite perfume and all that I
- 51:48don't want to get too personal about.
- 51:49It like the lingerie. It's Valentine's Day like.
- 51:53What's that? It's Valentine's Day, so like
- 51:55that's like the time that you would do that stuff, like, you
- 52:00know, Valentine's Day, birthday, Christmas, like those are.
- 52:04Nada nada. Those are required holidays.
- 52:08Yeah, I think so. She's she's mad at me right now
- 52:11and I'm going to before we cut this podcast, we can talk about
- 52:13it next week. She on the air, I on the air.
- 52:16I called her a fuddy Duddy and she.
- 52:17Yeah, we talked about this in the podcast because she's.
- 52:20Still, yes she is because she went, she went and saw 50 Shades
- 52:24of Grey and I'm like, well, who who goes to 50 Shades of Grey
- 52:26and doesn't want to come home and try all the the positions
- 52:29and she and she goes me. So I called her a fuddy Duddy on
- 52:32the air. So she has not forgiven me for
- 52:34that. Oh, no.
- 52:35Well, you'll have to, I don't know, try to make it up to her.
- 52:38Redeem yourself. This is.
- 52:39Maybe, maybe this is retaliation to where she's like, yeah, I'm
- 52:42gonna be in face cream. I'm gonna be in face cream and
- 52:45sweat. Like a little mask.
- 52:47You can always buy her like one of those little 50 Shades of
- 52:49Grey like kits or whatever. I'm sure that we're really
- 52:53happy. No, don't do that.
- 52:56She probably be pissed off and be sarcastic.
- 52:58Do not do that. Probably don't.
- 53:01Do that I am being sarcastic. Don't buy her that.
- 53:04We will, we will. I know times are running out,
- 53:06but we will talk about what what really transpired next week for
- 53:10sure. See, look at that.
- 53:11Giving you a cliffhanger. Giving you a little tease.
- 53:15That's it for today's episode of Rick and That Michelle.
- 53:18Check. Thanks for hanging out with us.
- 53:21If you laughed, rolled your eyes, or question our sanity
