- 0:01SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the Steven Jeff Show, the funniest podcast ever.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: Hey people, I don't write the words, I just read them.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Be sure and follow or subscribe to the Steve and Jeff Show wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Write us a review while you're there too.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: And now, here's Steve and Jeff.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Johnny, and hey Jeff, great to be back in the studio, isn't it?
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: It's so much fun.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: And how's it going, Steve?
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: I'm still on a high, if you will.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I'm on cloud nine from winning those awards at the potties.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I feel so good that we got recognized for all this hard work.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: It made my mom really proud.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: She was so happy to be there.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: I agree, Steve.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: You know, and you're right about all the hard work.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I'd forgotten what it was like to work hard on this show.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And you know, to go back and look at that episode, and I thought, gee, we really did work really hard on that.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: And I got a nice note from my dad, too, who congratulated me on the awards and he wanted to celebrate.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: He had some guy who has worked at a bakery and he made a cake, and uh he's gonna be having me bring that cake over, and I think it'll be terrific.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: You bring that cake right into Stateville.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: That's the plan.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: He said, make sure you put it outside of the metal detector because cakes they have a tendency to get affected by yeah, by that kind of stuff.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: It spoils the frosting.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: If it's a fondant cake, it'll melt the fondant, that x-ray.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no, you don't want to do that.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Now, was that your real dad?
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Was that real Jerry or was that faux Jerry?
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: They're easy to get mixed up.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I get them mixed up sometimes, and I certainly my mom did when she got pregnant with sweet little Stevie by Faux Jerry.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: You know what, Steve?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you brought that up.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: I can't really tell the difference anymore.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And so I'm not really sure who I'm going to see.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I guess I'll just have to go next week and find out.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: I am so excited.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: I can't wait to hear part two of that award-winning episode Curb Your Podcast.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: A lot of people may have missed it last week.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Hey, you're loss.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: It's out there.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: You know the streaming service you're listening to this on right now?
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: They've got that one too.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Go ahead and listen to it or listen to this one first.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: I don't care.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Either way, listen to both.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: But I digress.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: This one, part two, as incredible as this is to believe.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Part two, I think, is even better than part one.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Part one was outstanding.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: And part two, oh, Jeff, part two.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: You know, again, I don't remember the episode at all, but one of the things about our show that I really like is how honest we are.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: In fact, oh yeah, we actually won, you know, you're talking about creating categories.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Uh, we won the award for the best podcast that tries to be honest most of the time, which I think defines us, you know.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, we absolutely dishonesty all the time, I think, is a really bad thing.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, isn't oh you know what I mean, Joe?
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: You know, anyway, speaking of apologies, I'm looking at you guys, you smartless guys.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wish I hadn't been looking at them when you were walking around unclothed, but we probably are our listeners in apology too.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Everybody knows the Steve and Jeff show is famous for its joke at the beginning of the show, thanks to Jim from San Diego, right?
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, who kind of you know pushed us into that joke.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, thanks, Jim.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: But ironically, just after we won Best Joke at the beginning of the podcast award at the bodies last week, yeah, we didn't have a joke last week.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: It really was an oversight.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: When you're named Chef of the Year, you're not supposed to not cook.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: It's one of those things.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: So why don't we do two jokes tonight just to make up for it?
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: I probably am the one that missed the joke.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Why don't you take the first joke?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: You know, Steve, I would, but as you know, I had to fly back to Chicago and I didn't have time to write one.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Plus, I had this weird thing happen to me on the plane.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: What happened?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: I was sitting in first class because you know, we had won those awards and stuff.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: So, you know, you gotta celebrate sit up there.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: You have to know, yeah.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: You have to do that, you know, and I'm not gonna sit back there with Joe Rogan.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: There's no way.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: No, so I'm gonna sit up front with the good people, the people that, you know, deserve my attention.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And so I'm sitting next to this woman, and out of nowhere, she sneezes, took out a tissue, wiped her nose, and then she started to shudder for like 10 or 15 seconds, physically vibrating.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: It was shocking.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: That is some sneeze.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Tried to go back to writing the joke, you know.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I was about halfway through, but a couple minutes later, this woman sneezes again and took another tissue out, wiped her nose, and she starts quivering, just quivering violently.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: And I'm thinking, you know, I don't know, she's having a seizure, I don't know what's going on.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, hey, maybe she's got some rare fever that you're, you know, you're now catching because you're sitting next to her.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Hey, wow.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Or maybe she has a cold, you know.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: But I'm kind of curious, you know, like how that happens.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: And then sure enough, a few minutes later, this woman sneezes again.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: And again, she takes the tissue, wipes her nose, her body's shaking more than ever.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: I was unable to restrain my curiosity.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: And so I turned to this woman and I said, I can't help but notice that you sneezed three times, you wiped your nose, and then you just started shaking violently.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Are you okay?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: She looks at me and she says, I'm sorry if I disturbed you.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I felt bad because I kind of put her on the spot.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I have a rare medical condition.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Whenever I sneeze, I have an orgasm.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was embarrassed and a bit curious, you know.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Well, you know every everything is connected.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Why not?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And I said to her, I said, I've never heard of that condition before.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Um, are you taking anything for it?
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: And the woman said, Yeah, pepper.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Ah, yeah.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So what about you, Steve?
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: You know, you always want good health, but there are some disorders that you wouldn't mind having.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: That sounds like one of them to me.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Kathy doesn't have that disorder, but anyways, so did you have a chance to write your joke?
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, funny thing, I didn't have time either.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: I've been on this exercise kick.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: You know, I've been I'm trying to get in better shape.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: I've been hanging out with my mom and that Johnny guy, eating a lot of mac and cheese, drinking the pop-up, you know, and it's just it's I started to get out of shape a little bit.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So I went to the doctor, you know, you always say, check with your doctor before you start an exercise regimen.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know if this is a regimen that sounds a little more organized than what I'm doing, but you know, let's call it a regimen, just for purposes of our conversation here.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: So I went to the doctor, he recommended an exercise for seniors, because you know, hey, I'm old that would build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: I thought, well, that's good.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: You know, seniors got to work on their legs too, because balance, oh yeah, that's that's key, that's critical.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: But you know, upper body strength, you want to keep that.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: It seemed so easy, seemed like anybody could do this exercise.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: So I thought I'd pass it along to the audience.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: It's why we won that medical potty, because we're passing along health tips like this.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And you're passing them on to me because you know, I certainly need the exercise as well.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And this is so much better than any joke.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: This is really going to help people's health.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: So here's how you do it: you stand on a comfortable service, kind of feet not close together, but not real far apart, maybe about three, four inches apart.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: You go plenty of room on each side, and then you get a five-pound potato sack.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: We get two of them, you put one in each hand, and then you extend your arms straight out, like the letter T, like you're a T standing there.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: So you put the letters straight out.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Hold them there as long as you can.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Now you try to reach a full minute and then you relax.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: So you do that every time.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: It is the first.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: You do that every day.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: You'll find you hold that position a little bit longer, a little bit longer, a couple of weeks when you're ready, you move up to 10-pound sacks, 10-pound potato sacks.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Then you work on that, you do that for a while, then you're ready for the 50-pound potato sacks.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Really, you can get to the point.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: I haven't gotten to this point yet, but you can get to the point where you can lift a hundred-pound potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight out for more than a minute.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: The key part of it is once you're really confident at that level, then you can start to put potatoes into the sacks.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: But you gotta be careful.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: You gotta be careful with those.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: It's good exercise.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Uh, kind of makes me hungry a little bit.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Didn't you have uh an ant that fell down the stairs carrying potatoes?
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, we did.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's it's kind of a downer.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: So I don't know if I would put potatoes in there.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe I don't know, sweet potatoes, maybe.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Understand in Hawaii doctors recommend coconut, you have 50-pound coconut bags.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: All right, but it sounds it sounds good before it gets too late.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should look at running the part two of our work series?
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Kurt.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Sorry, we got to play part two.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: And as a reminder, for those who didn't hear part one, this is an in-depth interview with leading author and a professor of histrionics at Cathartic State University, Dr.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Armand Lub Thrower, eminent professor.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: And we're gonna talk about something really important.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: I don't remember what, but it was it was important.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so you haven't listened to it either.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: I wanted to be like our audience, I wanted that freshness, that verb, that sass.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not on the edge of my seat anymore.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: My butt has healed.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Thank you very much, former Saturday Night Live comedian.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: But, anyways, I'm ready for the episode.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: Johnny, give us part two of Curb Your Podcast.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: I think we really need to get to the bottom of some of this before we bring the guest on.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: You know, so I think that's something we should work on in the future.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I think that we sort of play it by ear and you know, whatever, but this is an important guy.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: This uh lube thrower dude is uh he's top notch.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, absolutely.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Top university.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: We want to challenge him here.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: We want to get our money's worth, even though we're probably not gonna pay him.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: But oh no, no.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Well, he's here for the publicity for his book that you know what you don't know can hurt me.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: But macro obsession and the unconscious.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: Oh man.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: He sounds so smart.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: That is such a great title.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: I have no idea what it is.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: That's how good it is.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: How do you get prepared for a show?
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Like, should we be coming up with questions ahead of time?
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Well, I think we want to know.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Normally, normally that would be the way to prepare for an interview show is you come up with questions and you read the book and all this other boring stuff.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I think for our type of show, it's a personal show, it's an inventive show, it's a creative show, it's a spontaneous show, it's an improvised show.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: I think for that, we really need to get to the bottom of ourselves, and then we can ask questions of Dr.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: Lubethrower.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Although just let's make a note here because I think the first question I'd like to know uh from him would be is lube thrower?
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Now is that Swedish?
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Uh could be uh could be.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Does it sound like that to you?
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I I can't tell.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: But I'd like to know like Central European, Scandinavian, somewhere in there.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it could be Swedish.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, lube thrower.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: England, whatever.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: So uh yeah, I'd like to do that.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: Isn't that like a fish dish in Sweden?
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Lubethrower, loop, loop something?
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: No, I think it is.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: It's probably named after the food.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Boy, and again, I think so.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Again with the food, boy, I'm so hungry.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: But I'd explain it.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: I know I'm fucking hungry.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Fucking exactly, yes.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Unbelievable.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: The other thing that we may want as we do the self-evaluation is that we're a company now, we're a corporation.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: We are, yes.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: I don't think we have an HR department yet, but we may want to look at hiring somebody to do HR for us because you know you want a you don't want a hostile work environment, Steve.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: No, you can't hold on to employees if you do that.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: No, we can't, and then there are lawsuits and all kinds of things.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: And I just to show you how corporate we are, I'm gonna assume a corporate persona for a moment.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: It's like, yes, Jeff, that's a good idea.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I think we should put a pin in that and circle back prior to the shareholder meeting.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: I think we should decide what direction we're going to go with that.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: See, see now you see see how good that is.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: See, that was really good.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Although when you said put a pin in that, I immediately I thought sex again.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: It's like dipping the soap.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Soap the soap.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, I think I could put a pin in that.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Could put a pin in the soap, yeah.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: I think I could.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: That's perfect.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Basically, what you're saying is we just need to be more professional.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: And I went through that in an old company that I worked for.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: And I think, Steve, that I could help lead us in that direction.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: But there are important questions to ask.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: What are the appropriate ways to say penis?
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Penis.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, I think, yeah.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: What did you say?
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: Tennis.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Tennis anyone?
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Tennis is a way is that why you know?
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: But those are questions I think that I was interested in.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Any any questions sort of in anticipation of that, which again is a part of us understanding who we want to be and how we can be better people and how we can be better leaders and better talk show hosts.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: You were telling me that you saw a show with the Seinfeld cast from their last season, and they were being interviewed.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, I was watching two different things.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Actually, the first one was the Smothers Brothers documentary about you know what they did uh when they had their show.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: They were only on a couple years, I think three years.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: And that was fascinating.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: And then I ended up uh right after that, it was a documentary on a series of interviews from Seinfeld.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: So it was like from the late 90s, and it was right before the end of the show, and they interviewed the four actors plus Larry David.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: And then Larry David was talking about how Curb kind of came about these dark moments, these antisocial moments, moments where you know there's microaggression or whatever, and that was the basis for his show.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: And I started thinking, Steve, I bet you and I have so many of those experiences.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, Jeff.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's unbelievable.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: It happens all the time.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, it happens so often, Jeff.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: It's just it's sad.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: It's like I wish that I could take all the times that's happened and do what Larry David did and turn it into something funny.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: And maybe we can, maybe we can tonight.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: You know, that would be really good.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: If we just talk about it, maybe we can find some comedy in all of this.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Well, and I think we should be clear and honest with each other, you know.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Although that may be the source of some of these uncomfortable moments.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: But whereas, like my wife, she gets nervous in social situations, and I tend to just say things that I later regret, but I'm so casually happy with it's just weird, Steve.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I but I'll give you an example.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I had a hernia operation uh in college.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: If you know anything about that operation, I think they do it different now, but uh back then you had to be in the hospital for three days, something like that.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: And they give you a bunch of medication and you are sore.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: A couple things they don't want you to do, right?
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: And one of them is they don't want you to get excited, yeah, if you know what I mean.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: But I'm like this 21-year-old kid, and the nurse comes to the case.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Just saying the words getting excited would get you excited.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: It totally doesn't take much, right?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I'm not even completely sure that I was never not excited at that age.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you know, I was how do you know it would be news if there wasn't excitement?
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: What's that even like?
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: I don't even know.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: So this nurse comes in and she's really attractive, and I immediately am in so much pain.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Bad for the stitches, yeah.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so I go and I ask the doctor when the doctor comes in later.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: I'm like, can you maybe have somebody else help me who is less interesting?
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: And I would do air quotes, you know, interesting, and and our listeners can see those air quotes, yeah.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: They can see the air quotes because they're they're right there, yeah.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: You know, yeah, I know they're listening, but they can't.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: You know, you really can.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you really can.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which which kind of brings me to my other point, which or question, and this is maybe you can answer this.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Are better looking women or men better lovers because they look better?
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: People have wondered that since time immemorial.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: So have I.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: I think maybe there's no connection, but maybe there is.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Just to be clear, you know, I only have experience for the last 41 years with a good looking woman.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, absolutely.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Yes, you know.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Well, she doesn't listen to the show, so you really could say anything, right?
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: But she doesn't listen to the show, but I think that nurse that they brought in after the good-looking nurse, I think she listens to the show.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: She listens, yeah.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I think she gets some texts.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: She wrote in, I think, to one of our earlier listener calls, listener shows.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: I think she I think she wrote in, but I digressed.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: She sent me a text and asked me if I needed my catheter massaged.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: What that means.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: It's she wants to empty out my catheter.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna place that catheter.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Ooh, yeah, you know that's and her name was Kathy.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, there you go.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: So catheter, Kathy, I think it was Catheter, Kathy.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: It was catheter, Kathy.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: That was her nickname in nursing school.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: I bet wow.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: It's important to have a specialty, I think.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: And Steve goes back to the same thing we always talk about that the name of the people has a lot to do with who they are and what they do for a living.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: You know, if her name wasn't Kathy, would she have been attracted to the catheter?
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: I maybe not.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Maybe not.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Have you had any curb moments yourself?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Anything you'd like to share with the class?
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: I have, Jeff, but I know you you told me offline about one of yours that I think is just is very, very curb your enthusiasm.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're talking about the the gas station one.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the gas station, yeah.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that was weird, kind of interesting how that turned out.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: But I was filling up my car with gas and I went to go inside, like to the 7-Eleven to buy a drink, uh, a bottle of water or something.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: And I'm walking in, I'm opening the door to the 7-Eleven, and I remember I didn't lock the car, so I turn around and I hit my remote.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And as I'm hitting that remote to lock the car, this black guy's walking right to the car, right by me.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Right by the car.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he looks at me and he says, The fuck is wrong with you, dude?
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: You know, you're such a fucking racist.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, don't know what he's saying, but it didn't sound good, you know.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: And I said, I said, I'm not a racist.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: I said, you know, it's like, oh my god, I'm liberal.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: I voted for Obama, and that just made it worse.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And then he was like, Yeah, fuck you, asshole.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: And and so, anyways, I I came back and I was telling people about it, and they said that actually there's an episode of Curb where Larry David went through that, so you know, it's almost universal, these uncomfortable moments it is, you know, or we have a connection, Larry and I, besides being bald, a connection sharing similar experiences.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that's kind of what we're talking about, isn't it, Steve?
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: As a moment and thinking about curb moments, you you remember the curb episode where he does the hello cut or the greeting cut or something he calls it, where you know you there's a long line, you see somebody in line, you know, you go, hey, you go up and talk to them, and then you you move up in line.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Jeff, I I can't even count the number of times I've done that.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: I do that all the time.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: The key though is you don't go too far up, you don't go right to the front, even if you know the person.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: You find somebody three, four, five back that you know that that's good enough.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: And you maintain your composure, right?
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: So you oh absolutely very casual, very low-key.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: You're almost absent-minded, right?
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: You're sort of just right, oh, oh, I'm just in the conversation.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: We we were doing a show, there was a somebody we were going to interview, but we got distracted and we ended up talking you know to ourselves.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: And right, you know, it's kind of like that.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: It's just you don't you don't even think about it, and before you know it, the 40 minutes is over.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: You know what the show's over, and and you know, and we have no time to oh, that's exactly it.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: And you just go there, it works great at like buffet lines.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: If you're at an event and there's a long buffet line, you just because you always know somebody at these events, right?
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: You go off and say, Hey, and and before you know it, you're at the food.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh, and I can't tell you how much I could use some creamed corn right now.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Well, talking about creaming your corn, I think that's I think we're right with it.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: I love that stuff.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: Right back with it.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Don't know exactly what that's made of.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: But it is so easy to get absent-minded that way, and you get really so involved in the conversation that you kind of forget what's going on around you, and you kind of forget, hey, we're in line, we're at this event, we're going up for food, and and I should be back there, but I'm up here because I'm you know, you're talking and you're really into it.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Well, or at least you have to act like you're really into the conversation because that's a beautiful cover.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, I totally lost track of where what I was doing.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: And even if you're not trying to do it on purpose, it's easy to just have those moments where you're in line and you just forget where you are, you forget right where where you're surrounded by.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Like, for example, when I met my wife, we were in college and she had to go on birth control, and we go to this, you know, nursing infirmary or whatever, you know, the campus oh yeah, down student health, uh, you health student health, yeah.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: And there's like an 80-year-old, crusty old nurse.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: I was attracted to her.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Who yeah, look great, probably.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: So right up my alley.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: And you know, you know, and if you could find her now, I bet she'll she'd look even better to you.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, I bet because you're older now, right?
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: So she'd look great now.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, so she was I was with her because I I want to show support.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: She goes up to the counter and the the nurse says, So how much do you want?
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Do you want like three months worth or six months worth or one month worth?
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: And Kathy sort of hesitated.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: She looked at me and I sort of forgot that I was in this social situation.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: I was just talking to her.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: So I say, you know, they're expensive, you know, and I don't think you should get too many that you won't use.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: And I don't really know how long we're going to be going out.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: So you may want to just do like a 30-day because we probably won't be dating after that.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: That is very financially sound, Jeff.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: That it makes perfect economic sense.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: I think that's when she realized she loved me.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: I think it was that that moment she knew that you would preserve the money in the family and that you would always provide because you wouldn't waste money on the off chance that hey, what if I don't need it?
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: There are poor people out there that need the birth control.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, exactly.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: And now I don't think that that nurse liked it.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: She gave me a dirty look again, arousing me.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: But she made that dirty look and and I'm surprised you didn't date the nurse.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Uh she would have gotten a lot more in that prescription if it was the nurse, I'll tell you that.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: You would have gone for the sixth month, right?
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: I would have gone for six months.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: I think there would have been a sure thing.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: But anyway, so that was kind of what I'm talking about here is that those are curb moments, you know, where you just have these awkward discussions about things, um, and it just comes out that way.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: And sometimes the discussions can go on.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: You think you've talked about it, but then you realize you really you still got more to say, you really haven't covered it.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: And so sometimes it takes a while to really bring out the truth, the core, the facts, the guts, the soap.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: It takes a while to bring all that out.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: And I think, Steve, if you're looking at other moments of Curb, probably look at you and I.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: We've had some experiences together.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: We, we, yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: You know, it's kind of under the category of what was I thinking, you know, because they're just.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: So bizarre.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: But yeah, the idea of I don't know, starting a rock band with no ability to play instruments or sing or have instruments and just pretend and then perform for other people, those are really uncomfortable and disgusting.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: But two thoughts on that, Jeff.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: Number one, you should never let your inability to do something stop you from doing it.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: I think we just had to overcome our really shocking lack of musical skill and just go with it.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: And the second thing is with people we performed for, they loved it.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they laughed, they thought it was great.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: They sang along because we didn't write any songs.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: They knew all the songs because, you know, we had no musical skill.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: We weren't writing songs, right?
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: And in fairness, we were doing something that I don't think anybody's ever done in the history of music, where they have imitated somebody who was imitating a performer and lip syncing that performance lip syncing, but singing out loud while you're lip syncing.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: While lip syncing, which is hard to do.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: Everybody would be a controloquist to do that.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, that that's that's pretty hard.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: Nothing better.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: Nothing better than to pretend you're singing, kind of sing along with music that is from somebody else that's imitating somebody else.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Somebody else, right?
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: We took Millie Vanilli, which actually we were before Millie Vanilli, right?
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: We did this, but we took Millie Vanilli to the next level.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: They just imitated themselves.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: We imitated somebody who was imitating somebody who sang a song long before the imitators.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: So we were like a second generation imitator.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: There's the fucking problem.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Basically, we have just talked ourselves into that.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: That wasn't a curb moment, it was a great moment.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: That was a that was one of the high marks in my performing career.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: And this is dangerous, Steve, because we basically are never embarrassed.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: See, I think that's by almost anything.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: I think that's why we have curb moments.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: If you're easily embarrassed, you're not going to have a lot of curb moments because you're not cutting in line, right?
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: You're not going to cut in line.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: No, we won't do that.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: So we don't have that.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: We didn't always lip sync though.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: Are you thinking maybe another curb moment would be the worst?
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: The worst curb moment.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: I think it's the worst.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Well, why don't you explain explain what happened?
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: If we're thinking about the same thing.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: I we probably are.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: It involves uh coffee house.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: See, Jeff and I, this back when we were back when we were juvies.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: I was a somewhere J-E-W-V-I.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: J-E-W-V-I-E-S, yes.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: And we we we were I it was somewhere between my 12-year-old vodka and coke and college.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: So we were somewhere in in between, and we were on a double date.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: The girl that I took, I thought was great.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I really wanted to get together with her.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: And I don't remember, I I think the girl you took was somebody you you knew, but again, you weren't didn't really care, weren't paying attention to her.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Well, I think the reason I knew her, yeah, the part I should have paid attention to was her age.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Because as I recall, Steve, she may have been a tad younger than me by a couple years.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Well, now, in fairness, we were still pretty young.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: We were minors still at this point.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: She was maybe a little more minor.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Minor.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: She was a little more she was more on the vodka and coke side than on the college side, you know.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: But I digress.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: We went to this coffee house, they had a guy playing guitar, and he was, I don't know, how should I put it?
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: He was lousy, wasn't good, not good at all.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: We're sitting there, and we get this idea, coffee and coke, yeah.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Which is great.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's actually better than vodka and coke, but it's yeah, coffee, vodka and coke is a great that's that's that's a that's right wonderful morning pick me up.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: You'll you'll be alert and and pain-free.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's really it's pretty good.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: But but I digress.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: We got this idea that you know, we had written this song, of course.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: It was a funny song, it was a comedic song.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: And it was actually a borrowed tune.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: We actually stole the tune.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: We wrote the words, yeah, yeah, and they were funny.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: So we thought, you know, why don't we just go up and ask this guy if we can play uh the song here?
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Uh I think Jeff, you took the guitar.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: And I I couldn't believe this guy said, sure, take my guitar and play a song on the stage that I'm performing on.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, go ahead.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: But he did.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: He did.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: And what was more unbelievable was that it resulted in very little interaction between us and the dates after that.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: I don't remember a lot of uh connection at that point, kissing and touching or anything.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no, there was no no connection like that.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: There was very little connection of any type, there's very little eye contact, there was very little uh of anything.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: And I don't think to this day I have seen that girl again.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: I don't think I have.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: I think she sees us maybe in her dreams.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Uh there might be dreams necessarily.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: You know, she might have our picture on like a desk just to remind her how bad it could be, what she shouldn't do ever again.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and she looks at us so that's it, that's what I shouldn't do.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: But the the part that is disturbing though excuse me.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: One of the parts that there's only one part that's disturbing, yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: No, I think there are a few, but I but I think there's a few, yeah.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: Um, is that I don't remember us when we dropped them off after the date.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: I don't remember us being disappointed in any way.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: I felt like we were like high-fiving ourselves and we were like really thought that was a great date.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: Well, because we were yeah, we were young, we were kids, and we and they were and they were kids.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: Well, yours was maybe even when we were young, they were kids.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: I mean an actual kid after that.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: Mine was maybe maybe a year younger than me, but not you know, within the ballpark, certainly.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: But yours, uh I don't know about yours.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: You know, I think we were young, we were so excited that we had actually performed a relatively obscene song out loud, unapologetically, straight faced in front of a crowd, and and we got a lot, we got laughs, we got a lot of laughs because I gotta tell you, everybody in that room was like thinking this guy's not very good.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: And so we got up, we were a breath of fresh air.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: I remember there was one guy who I think probably had been a little, you know how uh Appropriation Station has that flaming tie stick?
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: I remember there was one guy over on the right.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: I remember this guy, I remember this guy vividly.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: He was over at the right toward the back.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: I think he'd been really eating that flaming tigh stick a lot, and he almost fell out of his chair laughing.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: He was a I kept looking at him.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: He was it was like the funniest thing he'd ever seen, and he just loved it.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: He gave us a huge applause at the end.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's uh that's why we're because it was it was a performer's high.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: We kind of forgot about the dates.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: So they're gonna judge our performance.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: That's kind of what I'm talking about, Steve.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: You know, exactly.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you gotta kind of just say uh you're not really qualified to you know to judge.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: Go back to grade school, you know, tomorrow.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: Tomorrow she she did go back to grade school, I think, the next day or whatever, wherever you're going.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: You know, yeah, when you get older and you're world more worldly, you'll appreciate what you went through in that date.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: You know, I bet I bet if I got in touch with the girl that I was with that night, I bet if I got back in touch with her, she would say, you know, at the time I was embarrassed and I thought you were stupid.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: And now that I'm you know 50 years older, still think you're stupid, but it was pretty funny.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: It was pretty funny.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: You know, she'd probably say, Yeah, you know, listen, it was horrible, but it was kind of funny.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: It was funny.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I ever told you, but my roommate in college, Bart, his sister, who was like three years younger than us, said that song was being played by other people at the youth group.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: We should have tied up the residuals.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: So let me just clarify this guy is imitating two guys who are imitating stealing a song from somebody else who was stealing.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: Who was imitating somebody else who was imitating somebody else?
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: So we were we're we're patting ourselves on the back for being second generation imitators.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: This guy is a third generation imitator, yes, yes, and who knows?
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: By now, there might be a fourth generation or a fifth that's possible, and part of a proud heritage.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like the like the dawn of man, you know, or the or there were the apes, and then maybe we were the Neanderthals that imitated the apes imitating other apes, and then this guy is the first Crow Magnum who is imitating the Neanderthals, who's imitating the apes, ape imitating the apes.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: Exactly, or almost exactly, yeah.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure what I just laid out, but it sounded wild.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: I don't know either.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, I it just it was original.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: It sounded anthropological or or histrionical or something.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: For all we know, that guy could be at Cathartic State University.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: He could be, which reminds me we have a guest, right?
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, do we still have a guest?
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: We do, yeah.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: He's over there.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: He's carried away here.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: He's making notes.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's he's working, you know, he's he's happy, he hasn't complained yet.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: But you know, Jeff, funny thing, you see that engineer over there, he's smiling kind of like that guy, like the tystick guy at the coffee house, you know.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: He's smiling, but he's he's smiling for a different reason because he's smiling, he's gonna throw us out of here.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Time goes by so fast.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: We're just about out of time, and we didn't we didn't quite get to Dr.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: Armand lube thrower.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: You know what we did get to, Steve?
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: We got to the essence of us.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: Like, how would you theme this show?
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Well, originally you were you, if you were you, if I was me, if I was me, yeah, which I'm not, but if I were me, no, no, I would we were gonna talk about histrionics and maybe a little bit about sand volleyball, which I know that that probably would get you excited.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Very talk about his book, you know, what you don't know can hurt me.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: But I think what we did instead is we showed rather than talk about it and just talk about the ideas, we actually showed a laboratory of working through a lot of this.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: I think we not only reached some real truths, but we're actually better people for having done what we did.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: And I think Dr.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: Lub Thrower, if we turned on his microphone, I think he would thank us.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: I think he would say, Good job, guys, good job.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: I couldn't have done it any better.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and and unfortunately we don't we don't have time to let him say that about us.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: That's too bad.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: Well, I gotta tell you, Jeff, that was everything that I hoped it would be, and more.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: It was actually better.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: I think Dr.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Lube, as he's called in the industry, you know, I've I asked around a little bit and people said, Oh, Armand, yeah, we know him.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Dr.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Lube is what they call him.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: You know, he really did a fine job, and I we'd be glad to have him back whenever he writes another book or when he wants to come back.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: I'd like that too, Steve.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Although kind of a weird thing happened.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: I got a note from Dr.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Lube after the episode, and uh, you know, he wanted to make sure that he got paid because we're re-broadcasting these episodes.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, he wants residuals now.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, and so I told him I said we would pay him exactly what we paid him for the original show, which we will we will duplicate what we paid in that original show.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: We'll actually pay, you know what, Jeff?
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: We'll pay what we paid him and we'll double it.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: I'm not good in math, but I think we can afford that.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: Jeff, listen, it's been great.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Johnny, what do you have for the listeners?
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Right, Steve?
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: We looked and looked, but we couldn't find a thing that would compensate the audience for their suffering having to listen to you guys.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: So I think I'm just gonna take Steve's mom and we're gonna hide out at the scenic Harney Hotel, combining outdated elegance with deferred maintenance.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: If it ain't broke, it ain't the Harney.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: Be sure and follow or subscribe to the Steve and Jeff Show wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: This is Johnny speaking.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: I'll be hiding out at the Harney Hotel, but don't try to find me.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Steve's mom gets nervous when the phone rings at night.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: Good night!
