- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch to get you through. Yeah, me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Disgraceland, the after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:30Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:32Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:34Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:36Speaker 1: episode or Disgraceland to the other, the backyard to dig
- 0:39Speaker 1: into the dirt. On this bonus episode, we are talking
- 0:42Speaker 1: about this week's full episode subject, Bob Dylan. We also
- 0:46Speaker 1: get into Oliver Stone and Val Kilmer's Jim Morrison for
- 0:49Speaker 1: a wee bit, as well as a bit of a
- 0:51Speaker 1: deeper dive into our Hollywood Land spinoff series. And we
- 0:55Speaker 1: get into your voicemails, text DMS emails and as always,
- 0:58Speaker 1: a whole lot of rose. All right, this goes, Let's
- 1:01Speaker 1: get into it, all right. This week's after Party is
- 1:17Speaker 1: gonna be a little bit different. We had a massive
- 1:20Speaker 1: news day yesterday, which, as I write this, when I
- 1:23Speaker 1: say yesterday, I mean Tuesday, a ton of music news
- 1:27Speaker 1: and a ton of news news. And I know a
- 1:30Speaker 1: lot of you watched the Congressional hearing with Oliver Stone
- 1:33Speaker 1: and Jefferson Morley on the JFK Files. And I know
- 1:35Speaker 1: a lot of you are catching up and having yet
- 1:37Speaker 1: finished this week's full episode of Disgraceland, our part two
- 1:40Speaker 1: episode on Bob Dylan, which directly relates to those JFK
- 1:44Speaker 1: hearings on Capitol Hill this week. So if any of
- 1:47Speaker 1: you have not heard Part two, have not yet heard
- 1:51Speaker 1: Bob Dylan Part two, not part one, Part two of
- 1:54Speaker 1: our Bob Dylan story, I'm going to give you this
- 1:56Speaker 1: moment here to fast forward this year After Party Bonus
- 2:00Speaker 1: episode about ten minutes or so. Go past the first
- 2:03Speaker 1: ad break and just start listening from that point on,
- 2:05Speaker 1: or past the first musical interlude if you're ad free,
- 2:08Speaker 1: because there will be spoilers, and I'm going to get
- 2:11Speaker 1: into spoilers right now. Okay, the spoilers are coming in
- 2:14Speaker 1: the next few seconds. So again, if you haven't yet
- 2:17Speaker 1: heard Part two of the Bob Dylan episode, now is
- 2:19Speaker 1: your chance to fast forward past the spoilers. Okay, So
- 2:25Speaker 1: for the rest of you who heard this episode, thank
- 2:27Speaker 1: you for taking this ride with us, Thanks for the texts,
- 2:30Speaker 1: thanks for the voicemails, Thanks for the comments on social
- 2:33Speaker 1: if you commented and then didn't see your comment or
- 2:36Speaker 1: saw your comment get deleted, I deleted them because I'm
- 2:40Speaker 1: trying to preserve the gag here for the rest of
- 2:42Speaker 1: the listeners. We haven't done one of these types of
- 2:45Speaker 1: episodes in five years, Okay, twenty twenty was the last one,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and I got you good that time, and I got
- 2:51Speaker 1: you in twenty nineteen as well, But I needed to
- 2:53Speaker 1: take a couple of years off because I needed to
- 2:55Speaker 1: lull you guys into an unsuspecting content trance before I
- 2:59Speaker 1: could come back at you with an episode like this
- 3:01Speaker 1: Part two, Bob Dylan episode. Okay, on this episode, it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: different than the last two that we did, the one
- 3:08Speaker 1: with Jim and the one with John. This one had
- 3:12Speaker 1: far less historical fiction, like almost none, and way more
- 3:18Speaker 1: historical fact, which is the main ingredient really when trying
- 3:21Speaker 1: to make these episodes work. And this Dylan episode, Part two,
- 3:25Speaker 1: like I said at the end of it, nearly everything
- 3:28Speaker 1: is true. Nearly all of those outrageous facts are true.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Bob Dylan did indeed say that crazy shit about Lee
- 3:35Speaker 1: Harvey Oswald, basically supporting who was thought to be JFK's killer.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Two weeks after JFK was murdered. Dylan gave the impression
- 3:43Speaker 1: he indeed gave the impression that he was for the
- 3:46Speaker 1: Vietnam War in an interview with Singout magazine in the
- 3:50Speaker 1: I believe that was the late sixties, early seventies, and
- 3:54Speaker 1: Dylan did beat the piss out of that reporter. As
- 3:57Speaker 1: depicted in our episode, Dylan did stay at the Watergate Hotel.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Dylan's FBI file, or a page from his file anyway,
- 4:04Speaker 1: was read verbatim in my episode. That's from the actual
- 4:08Speaker 1: Dylan FBI file, and that was the first file I read.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The other two that I read in the episode, I
- 4:13Speaker 1: made those up for the purposes of the story. Dylan
- 4:17Speaker 1: wrote that note to the I ins for John and Yoko.
- 4:20Speaker 1: That's true. You can look up the note the fifty
- 4:22Speaker 1: five Families bit that was true as well. Again, look
- 4:26Speaker 1: at the book The Political World of Bob Dylan for
- 4:28Speaker 1: that story with the mysterious illuminati like aristocrat from the
- 4:31Speaker 1: fifty five Families who ended up playing Bob and Bill Graham.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Even the bit about me working for Carl Bernstein and
- 4:37Speaker 1: how my boss chose to use me to thwart Carl's stupidity,
- 4:41Speaker 1: all true, all true. Okay, what wasn't true? Now that's
- 4:46Speaker 1: a little bit different, not as much, not as much
- 4:48Speaker 1: on the not true vine. But Andy, the answer was
- 4:52Speaker 1: an invention. I made that up to help set up
- 4:54Speaker 1: the part where Bob unknowingly becomes the ruse that Andy
- 4:58Speaker 1: exploits to get into Becca's office. Becca was made up
- 5:00Speaker 1: as well. Aside from that, there's not much that I
- 5:04Speaker 1: made up, And that's the beauty of these these satirical episodes.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And again there's only been three in the entire history
- 5:11Speaker 1: of Disgraceland. But as for some historical fiction here, okay,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I can't say if the following two supposed conspiracy theories
- 5:20Speaker 1: are true or not, but they haven't been proven false.
- 5:23Speaker 1: They haven't proven true either one way or another. They
- 5:26Speaker 1: haven't been proven. But the Watergate prostitution ring is a
- 5:29Speaker 1: real theory. It was a real conspiracy pedaled by G.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Gordon Liddie, and it was litigated in court in the
- 5:34Speaker 1: early nineteen eighties, I believe, and as far as I
- 5:37Speaker 1: can tell, there's no actual evidence that supports the idea
- 5:40Speaker 1: that there was in fact a prostitution ring run out
- 5:43Speaker 1: of the Watergate Hotel in the early nineteen seventies, so
- 5:46Speaker 1: on that one false. Now the second so called conspiracy theory,
- 5:52Speaker 1: the idea that Richard Nixon did not orchestrate Watergate, but
- 5:56Speaker 1: was instead set up by the CIA to make it
- 5:58Speaker 1: look like he orchestrated Watergate, or rather set up by
- 6:02Speaker 1: the CIA two orchestrate Watergate so that the CIA would
- 6:05Speaker 1: then have a way to peacefully dispose of him. When
- 6:09Speaker 1: I first heard this theory a year ago, I gave
- 6:11Speaker 1: it no credence up But now, seriously, after all the
- 6:14Speaker 1: dirty shit detailed in the JFK files about the CIA,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and about all the lies they've been caught in in
- 6:21Speaker 1: the last few weeks, and all the ways in which
- 6:23Speaker 1: CIA members perjured themselves relative to their testimony on the
- 6:26Speaker 1: JFK assassination, I'd say that I'm fifty to fifty on
- 6:30Speaker 1: this Nixon thing and whether or not he was set
- 6:32Speaker 1: up by the CIA. On this theory, I mean, there's tape,
- 6:35Speaker 1: for God's sakes, I played you the tape in the
- 6:38Speaker 1: episode that's real. Now, whether or not the theory's real,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I'm not saying one way or another. All I'm saying
- 6:43Speaker 1: is that it's not entirely unlikely given all we know,
- 6:46Speaker 1: but it all goes back to Watergate, the place, not
- 6:50Speaker 1: the scandal. It was that information about Bob Dylan staying
- 6:54Speaker 1: at the Watergate hotel that got me thinking about this
- 6:56Speaker 1: entire idea that in the fifty five Families saying that
- 6:59Speaker 1: I read in that book about Bob's politics. The larger
- 7:02Speaker 1: point I was trying to make in this episode, and
- 7:04Speaker 1: a point that I think Bob Dylan would support, is
- 7:08Speaker 1: that politics are evil and the media is just as
- 7:12Speaker 1: corrupt as our government. In that first FBI memo on
- 7:16Speaker 1: Bob Dylan that I read to you in the episode,
- 7:18Speaker 1: the Special Agent in Charge, and again this is a
- 7:20Speaker 1: real memo, the Special Agent in Charge recommends that the
- 7:23Speaker 1: Bureau call upon its contacts and media to get the
- 7:25Speaker 1: word out on Dylan, to basically frame Bob Dylan as
- 7:29Speaker 1: anti American. We've talked about Operation Mockingbird here before. That's
- 7:33Speaker 1: the CIA's effort to co opt and control over six
- 7:36Speaker 1: hundred journalists at major news outlets in the nineteen sixties
- 7:39Speaker 1: and seventies. Nothing has changed. Nothing. Just this morning, okay,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I'm putting this episode together on Wednesday, April second, just
- 7:49Speaker 1: this morning, in the wake of Tuesday April first, JFK
- 7:54Speaker 1: Files Congressional hearing, the congressional hearing of the JFK assassination
- 7:58Speaker 1: that was held on Capitol Hill just this morning. CBS
- 8:03Speaker 1: and ABC News are not only miscategorizing Jefferson Morley's testimony
- 8:07Speaker 1: on Capitol Hill relative to the JFK Files, they're outright
- 8:11Speaker 1: lying about his past. And he's calling for an immediate retraction,
- 8:16Speaker 1: as he should be, and I hope he even sues them. Now,
- 8:20Speaker 1: why would CBS and ABC in the year twenty twenty
- 8:24Speaker 1: five move so quickly to discredit a man who has
- 8:27Speaker 1: done more fact based research on the JFK assassination, Jefferson
- 8:31Speaker 1: Morley than any other living journalists, A man who has
- 8:34Speaker 1: never once uttered a word of conspiracy, A man who,
- 8:38Speaker 1: if you follow him, it's obvious that his statements, his writing,
- 8:42Speaker 1: his opinions are entirely fact based. What incentive would CBS
- 8:47Speaker 1: or ABC have in discrediting this man. Well, I'll tell
- 8:50Speaker 1: you what that incentive is. It's because he came out
- 8:52Speaker 1: yesterday in public, on record on Capitol Hill, at the
- 8:57Speaker 1: risk of perjuring himself, and said what we have all
- 9:00Speaker 1: known to be true for decades that the evidence in
- 9:04Speaker 1: no way supports the so called fact that Lee Harvey
- 9:08Speaker 1: Oswald killed JFK. The CIA cannot have this out there
- 9:12Speaker 1: because the truth is very dark. If Oswald didn't do it,
- 9:16Speaker 1: who did? Okay? I have thoughts on that, and I
- 9:19Speaker 1: think these files are going to bear them out. We're
- 9:21Speaker 1: going to talk about that more in the coming weeks
- 9:22Speaker 1: here and there. Not going to make a big deal
- 9:24Speaker 1: out of it. It's going to take a while for
- 9:26Speaker 1: all this to get pieced together. But again, why would
- 9:29Speaker 1: ABC and CBS come out so quickly to try to
- 9:31Speaker 1: discredit this man. It's because the media still does the
- 9:36Speaker 1: bidding of their handlers in the CIA and in the FBI.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Nothing has changed, nothing, all right? Anyway, I hope you
- 9:44Speaker 1: dug this episode, and I hope you're not to pissed
- 9:46Speaker 1: at me for taking you on this hour plus ride.
- 9:48Speaker 1: This is the longest episode of Disgrace, and I believe
- 9:51Speaker 1: that we've ever done. Matt Boden is still pissed off
- 9:54Speaker 1: at me for making him mix it, though I don't
- 9:56Speaker 1: blame him. It was long, but Matt killed it because
- 9:59Speaker 1: the sound design came up great. Anyway, Matt, no more
- 10:01Speaker 1: hour long episodes, I promise all right. Coming up on Friday,
- 10:05Speaker 1: we are revisiting another giant from music history, the hardest
- 10:08Speaker 1: working man in show business, James Brown, Ladies and Gentlemen,
- 10:12Speaker 1: James Brown, in our rewind slot on Friday. That's tomorrow.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I've got a James Brown Part two that I'm thinking
- 10:17Speaker 1: about based on this theory that he was murdered. Haven't
- 10:21Speaker 1: done a lot of research on it, but just top line,
- 10:23Speaker 1: it's pretty interesting and there's there's a lot there, but
- 10:26Speaker 1: that's not for a while, if at all. Then next
- 10:29Speaker 1: week on Tuesday, we have a new episode on Billy
- 10:32Speaker 1: Idle and Holy Debauchery Batman. This one's going to leave
- 10:34Speaker 1: a mark when you're listening to this episode and wading
- 10:37Speaker 1: through all the sex, drugs and rock and roll, be
- 10:39Speaker 1: thinking about Billy Idle and his debauchery and thinking about
- 10:42Speaker 1: which rock star was the most debaucherous. Was it Billy Idle,
- 10:46Speaker 1: as we're going to explain, or was it someone else?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Which artist stories of excess are so bad, so gross,
- 10:52Speaker 1: so over the top that they deserve the crown over
- 10:55Speaker 1: Billy Idle. That's going to be the question of the
- 10:56Speaker 1: week next week six one seven nine oh six six
- 10:59Speaker 1: six three eight leave me a voicemail or a text.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm going to be back in a flash with your
- 11:03Speaker 1: voicemails and texts and dms on this week's question of
- 11:06Speaker 1: the week. All Right, we are back, And just a
- 11:30Speaker 1: quick reminder to make sure you Apple podcast listeners have
- 11:32Speaker 1: auto downloads turned on so you're not missing any episodes.
- 11:36Speaker 1: All right, six one seven nine oh six six six
- 11:38Speaker 1: three eight. You know where I'm at. I'm in the
- 11:39Speaker 1: phone booth. It's the one across the hall. I'm hanging
- 11:41Speaker 1: on the telephone. If you want to send me a
- 11:42Speaker 1: voicemail or a text. I like that. I like that
- 11:44Speaker 1: hanging on a telephone bit. Anyway, I'm going to leave
- 11:47Speaker 1: the Dylan voicemails and the Dylan text to next week.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Is there a bunch of you who still haven't heard
- 11:52Speaker 1: this episode? And I'd like to have a complete conversation,
- 11:54Speaker 1: a complete discussion, if you will, on this story with
- 11:57Speaker 1: as many of you as possible. But have no fear
- 12:00Speaker 1: because a ton of you hit me up to continue
- 12:01Speaker 1: our conversation from last week on Grunge, on Seattle, on Alice,
- 12:05Speaker 1: and chains, et cetera. Let's hear from the seven to
- 12:08Speaker 1: four to oh hey.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Jake, just listen to your grunge top ten. Really glad
- 12:14Speaker 2: to hear bad motor Finger at number one.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Oh, I should have should have.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Mentioned I'm great than in the seven to four to Oh.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I'm also pretty pumped to hear you talking about Dinosaur Junior, Lemonheads,
- 12:25Speaker 2: Pixies definitely three of my favorite bands ever, and I
- 12:29Speaker 2: agree none of them should really fall into grunge. Maybe
- 12:33Speaker 2: early Lemonheads, Dinosaur Junior, Yeah, that was just too early.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I mean, if we're talking about late eighties, early nineties
- 12:41Speaker 2: of the starter grunge, they're just a little early for that. Also,
- 12:47Speaker 2: don't mind having a couple Nirvanas and a couple down
- 12:52Speaker 2: Gardens in that top ten singles. Like you said, just
- 12:56Speaker 2: absolutely killer album, even the bad Let's up and cover
- 13:01Speaker 2: but phenomenal, Smashy Pumpkins Song on the Air, drown Birth,
- 13:07Speaker 2: Ritual Town Garden amazing. Probably got a lot more to say,
- 13:12Speaker 2: but I'll leave it at that. Man, love the episode, Grayson.
- 13:17Speaker 1: We have very similar tastes and appreciate, Uh, I appreciate
- 13:21Speaker 1: the backup on my Lemonhead's Dinosaur in Pixie's Cake. Grayson.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm not sure if you saw but Billy Corgan is
- 13:27Speaker 1: hitting the road not in support of Siame's dream, but
- 13:30Speaker 1: to play melancholy in the infinite sadness, wondering what you
- 13:33Speaker 1: think about all that hit me back? Let me know, Grayson.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Let's Matt, Let's check out the two seven.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Oher Hey, Jake, I left a message earlier about Mark
- 13:44Speaker 3: Lanagan two seven. Oh, I'm new to this calling thing.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I've listened to calling you. That is, I've listened to
- 13:51Speaker 3: your show for years now. Every episode, I promise two
- 13:56Speaker 3: seven is Bowling Green, Kentucky. I actually live in Nashville,
- 14:00Speaker 3: so share an information because you share so much with
- 14:04Speaker 3: me and us, Mark Lanagan, My recommendation is listen to
- 14:10Speaker 3: Bubblegum the album in its entirety. You can't go wrong
- 14:14Speaker 3: with this catalog at all. Listen to that he was
- 14:18Speaker 3: on one, then great album, Loose concept album, and then
- 14:24Speaker 3: his work as the Gutter Twins with Greg Dooley. But
- 14:27Speaker 3: once again, you can't go wrong. Listen or read. I
- 14:32Speaker 3: would say listen because he narrates the book Seeing Backwards
- 14:36Speaker 3: and Weep. Book came out a few years ago, a
- 14:40Speaker 3: couple of years ironically before his untimely death. Once again,
- 14:44Speaker 3: Mark Lanagan for me it's not even close. True badass,
- 14:50Speaker 3: just like those outlaw country guys. He was a true badass.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Thank you, man, thank you so much for your content
- 14:56Speaker 3: and your show. I love it. See if all right?
- 15:00Speaker 1: I appreciate the land again recommendations. And this is not
- 15:03Speaker 1: the first time Greg Dooley has come up, and I
- 15:05Speaker 1: haven't commented on Greg Dooley. Dooley, He's incredible. He's incredible,
- 15:10Speaker 1: gentleman by Afghan Wiggs. If you guys don't know that record,
- 15:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna listen to that today. If you don't know
- 15:15Speaker 1: that record, oh man, you're in for it. Put that
- 15:18Speaker 1: on today. It's so damn good. Dooley's collaboration with Lanigan
- 15:22Speaker 1: is another reason that I should get into the Mark
- 15:24Speaker 1: Lanagan story. And yes, two seven zero total outlaw. I
- 15:27Speaker 1: wonder if if Bob Dylan would agree. I think you
- 15:30Speaker 1: would that outlaw spirit is the theme of our recent
- 15:33Speaker 1: episode on Bob Dylan, and I see a correlation between
- 15:35Speaker 1: Bob and Lanigan. I wonder if you do, all right? Listen,
- 15:38Speaker 1: In last week's after Party, we went through a list
- 15:41Speaker 1: from gold Mine Magazine the top ten grunge albums of
- 15:44Speaker 1: all time. And you know, I gave my thoughts on
- 15:48Speaker 1: that list, and then I provided my own list and one, uh,
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think it was in the number ten spot was
- 15:55Speaker 1: the single soundtrack, which I anticipated would get me some
- 15:58Speaker 1: shit from you guys. We got this text here from
- 16:02Speaker 1: the three oh four three oh four rights saying, hey,
- 16:05Speaker 1: thank you for shouting out the single soundtrack. I wouldn't
- 16:07Speaker 1: make it my number one, but it is a good one.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But you saying that makes me feel better about claiming
- 16:11Speaker 1: some of my more questionable choices. Well, three oh four,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I want those questionable choices. You can't leave me hanging
- 16:17Speaker 1: like that. Come on, hit me back, and I'm happy
- 16:19Speaker 1: to hear that you agree with my singles. Take I
- 16:21Speaker 1: didn't have number one, by the way, I had him
- 16:23Speaker 1: number ten. Okay, seven to sixty five rights say, hey, Jake,
- 16:25Speaker 1: it's Amanda from the seven to sixty five and I
- 16:27Speaker 1: just wanted to thank you for the George Michael episode.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I loved George Michael, and not in a fangirl type
- 16:32Speaker 1: of way. I was convinced he was gay long before
- 16:33Speaker 1: he came out. Well, we all were, and it didn't
- 16:35Speaker 1: matter at all of me. His music spoke to me.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I didn't really care for the wham stuff, it was
- 16:40Speaker 1: much more. I was much more impressed by his later stuff,
- 16:42Speaker 1: his deeper stuff. The amount of emotion he conjured with
- 16:46Speaker 1: that incredible voice gave me chills every time. I chose
- 16:49Speaker 1: him to do a presentation on for my World music
- 16:52Speaker 1: class in college, and I learned something new from this episode. Also,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I didn't realize he had a GHB addiction. I knew
- 16:57Speaker 1: he did drugs, but I thought he had gotten clean,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and it real my heart when he died. I'm more
- 17:01Speaker 1: in the loss of the amazing music yet to come,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and I was also hoping he would meet someone else
- 17:05Speaker 1: who would make him as happy as in Salomo Dude.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Another quick note on the grunge topic. I've always been
- 17:11Speaker 1: a fan of songs rather than albums. A lot of
- 17:13Speaker 1: times I won't even know who performs them, but I
- 17:15Speaker 1: know I love Man in the Box and spoon Man.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I grew up with radio, and if it wasn't on
- 17:20Speaker 1: the radio, I probably haven't heard it. Thanks again for
- 17:22Speaker 1: doing such a great job. I've listened to all of
- 17:25Speaker 1: the podcast you've done now. Thank you so much. Seven six'.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Five for those of you who don't, know we get
- 17:31Speaker 1: A George michael episode a couple episodes back in the.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Feed as you can hear from the seven sixty, five
- 17:36Speaker 1: it's a. Banger check that out at seven sixty. FIVE
- 17:39Speaker 1: i appreciate you calling in with your thoughts On, George
- 17:41Speaker 1: Michael textan AND i should, say and On man in
- 17:44Speaker 1: The box And Spoon. MAN i think both those songs
- 17:46Speaker 1: are completely emblematic of the grunge scene in the early.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Nineties you couldn't escape those. SONGS i Believe man in

- 23:34Speaker 1: News Oliver stone relative to what we've been talking about,
- 23:36Speaker 1: here was On Capitol hill yesterday as part of the
- 23:39Speaker 1: group of folks who were testifying to the facts behind
- 23:45Speaker 1: THE jfk. Assassination Now Oliver, stone in addition to making
- 23:48Speaker 1: the great FILM, jfk which tipped off a lot of
- 23:52Speaker 1: this sort of seeking of truth around this matter prior to,
- 23:55Speaker 1: That Oliver, STONE i believe it was prior to that
- 23:59Speaker 1: which first The doors ARE. JFK i could look it,
- 24:03Speaker 1: up But i'm not going. To i'm trying to stay. Focused,
- 24:05Speaker 1: anyways they're back to, BACK i, believe and they're both fucking.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Great The doors is. Great i've had my problem With
- 24:12Speaker 1: The doors in the, past but you, know it's kind
- 24:16Speaker 1: OF i, mean there's a lot about it that's, sensational
- 24:19Speaker 1: BUT i don't. CARE i love. That there was a
- 24:21Speaker 1: lot About Jim morrison that was, sensational AND i think
- 24:25Speaker 1: IT'S i think it's a great music bio. Pick and,
- 24:29Speaker 1: Again i've been up and down with this film over the,
- 24:31Speaker 1: years BUT i think Where i'm landing with, it Where
- 24:33Speaker 1: i'm ending with, it IS i fucking love. It and
- 24:35Speaker 1: of course this brings us to the very sad news
- 24:38Speaker 1: That Val kilmer has passed. Away this was. Announced WHEN
- 24:41Speaker 1: i woke up this, MORNING i heard. It and of,
- 24:43Speaker 1: Course Val kilmer just an incredible, actor a great leading
- 24:51Speaker 1: man who probably in a previous generation Of hollywood would
- 24:55Speaker 1: have had a, much a much, bigger more impactful. Career
- 24:59Speaker 1: not that he didn't have a bit impactful. Career he
- 25:01Speaker 1: most certainly, did BUT i feel like in the last
- 25:04Speaker 1: few decades of his, Career val veered somewhat away from
- 25:08Speaker 1: the leading man, path and he did a lot in
- 25:12Speaker 1: support of other, filmmakers other, actors and you, know one
- 25:17Speaker 1: of my Favorite Val kilmer, roles he's not the leading,
- 25:21Speaker 1: man it's it's In. Heat it's his, character And, heat
- 25:24Speaker 1: WHO i think is JUST i think that character is.
- 25:26Speaker 1: INCREDIBLE i think he plays it, incredibly and it's in
- 25:31Speaker 1: support of Al pacino and really in support Of robert
- 25:34Speaker 1: De niro more than anything, else and he just fucking kills.
- 25:37Speaker 1: IT i was reading this morning again relative to what
- 25:40Speaker 1: we're talking about here About Val kilmer's relationship With Bob,
- 25:44Speaker 1: dylan and there's this, great this great story That Val
- 25:51Speaker 1: kilmer tweeted, out and of Course kilmer did that movie
- 25:55Speaker 1: With Bob, dylan but this Story he depicts this before
- 25:58Speaker 1: he Does bob's, movie and which is called what Was
- 26:02Speaker 1: Bob's masked And, anonymous and that's what it was. Called
- 26:04Speaker 1: prior to. That They kilmer's In New York, city and
- 26:08Speaker 1: Somehow Bob dylan gets in touch with him and wants
- 26:11Speaker 1: to come over to his hotel and like meet with.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Him AND i think they're friends by this, point but
- 26:15Speaker 1: they haven't quite worked with each, other but they don't
- 26:17Speaker 1: know each other that. Well and of Course dylan comes
- 26:21Speaker 1: over and he's all Mysterious, dylan and he Asked kilmer
- 26:24Speaker 1: to start reciting dialogue from his from his character's role In,
- 26:28Speaker 1: tombstone And kilmer says to, him, okay sing me blowing
- 26:33Speaker 1: in the, wind And bob didn't like that at all.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Apparently But kilmer then goes on to to CREATE i
- 26:43Speaker 1: guess like a like a spoof version of His tombstone
- 26:48Speaker 1: quotes set to the lyrics of one Of dylan's. SONGS
- 26:50Speaker 1: i think it Was it's all, Right, mom only, bleeding
- 26:52Speaker 1: and he sent it To dylan and They dylan dug,
- 26:54Speaker 1: it and of course they become, friends and And val
- 26:57Speaker 1: does that role For bob, later WHICH i just. Loved
- 27:01Speaker 1: also this morning On Val. KILMER i want to Give
- 27:03Speaker 1: Val kimer a minute. HERE i saw this tweet From
- 27:07Speaker 1: Jennifer tilly regarding Regarding kilmer and how he got his
- 27:13Speaker 1: role In Oliver Stones The. Doors, So Jennifer tilly writes
- 27:17Speaker 1: ON X a long time, AGO i was auditioning for
- 27:19Speaker 1: the Movie The. Doors it was kind of a cattle,
- 27:22Speaker 1: call and they paired together potential gems with potential, pamelas
- 27:26Speaker 1: and they were running. Behind so we were spilling out
- 27:28Speaker 1: of the casting office and sitting on the porch in
- 27:30Speaker 1: the lawn in the. Driveway all of a, sudden a
- 27:33Speaker 1: sixties convertible came screeching, up blaring doors music at top,
- 27:38Speaker 1: volume and a guy jumped out and strode. Inside he
- 27:41Speaker 1: had wild, hair and he was, barefoot, shirtless and wearing
- 27:45Speaker 1: nothing but a pair of tight leather. Pants we all
- 27:48Speaker 1: looked at each, other, like who is this? Guy and
- 27:51Speaker 1: we were more than a little shook by the sheer
- 27:53Speaker 1: audacity of his. Entrance, well of course it Was Val,
- 27:56Speaker 1: kilmer and from that minute on nobody else stood a.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Chance rest in, Peace. KING i love, that AND i
- 28:03Speaker 1: love how Seriously Val kilmer took getting that role because
- 28:10Speaker 1: nobody could have played that role as well As Val kilmer.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Did he fucking destroyed he killed, it killed it for
- 28:19Speaker 1: a huge part of my late teen, years in my early,
- 28:23Speaker 1: ADULTHOOD i couldn't even think Of Jim morrison without thinking
- 28:25Speaker 1: Of Val. Kilmer that's how Good Val kilmer is in that.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Role And Val kilmer was of course great in a
- 28:32Speaker 1: ton of different. Roles And i'll be looking for some
- 28:34Speaker 1: of his films, tonight in this week and this, weekend
- 28:37Speaker 1: AS i know you guys will as. Well maybe we'll
- 28:39Speaker 1: even Do Adoors Val kilmer episode of Hollywood land at some.
