- 0:32Speaker 1: Good morning, Amanda Keller.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Oh how brilliant you could not have been more precise
- 0:37Speaker 3: in your instruction. I learned something there that I didn't
- 0:40Speaker 3: even know. I'll come around and help you.
- 0:42Speaker 2: If you're not allowed to vote for yourself, I think people.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Do, to be honest, I haven't done my voting, but
- 0:48Speaker 3: I think people do. In the old days, there's to
- 0:50Speaker 3: be lots of stories about Don Burke and all his
- 0:52Speaker 3: stuff having to fill out coupon. Oh really, million only
- 0:57Speaker 3: vote once? Allegedly?
- 0:59Speaker 1: Of course, who are you when you found out?
- 1:02Speaker 3: Actually, I was in a cafe with my dog whitting
- 1:04Speaker 3: outside a cafe, and I got a text. I got
- 1:07Speaker 3: a text from one of the bosses here at the
- 1:09Speaker 3: radio stations saying congratulations. I said, I don't know what
- 1:11Speaker 3: you mean. She'd seen an embargoed press release about it,
- 1:15Speaker 3: and that was the first I'd heard. It was thrilling.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Well, she break the embargo.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I need to tell me, And you know that's right.
- 1:22Speaker 3: She's allowed to. And when you're talking to me, anyone
- 1:24Speaker 3: can break any embargo with me, allegedly.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But Amanda, you know you've had a stellar career in
- 1:31Speaker 2: radio and television and podcasting and writing and everything. Did
- 1:37Speaker 2: this come as as a huge surprise to you or
- 1:39Speaker 2: did you say, all another one for the collection?
- 1:42Speaker 3: No, not at all. And I've never won a LOGI.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I've been on shows like we won some for the
- 1:47Speaker 3: living Room, but I've never won a personal LOGI. And
- 1:51Speaker 3: to be nominated, I must say. When The living Room
- 1:52Speaker 3: wrapped up and that year I was nominated for the
- 1:55Speaker 3: Gold and Tom Gleeson one and all of the plava
- 1:58Speaker 3: that with that, yeah, I thought well and I was
- 2:01Speaker 3: quite okay with that. I thought, yeah, okay, that's great.
- 2:03Speaker 3: That sort of pulled a curtain on all of that.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And so to actually be back in the running again.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I just I'm just thrilled. And this time around it
- 2:13Speaker 3: feels so much lighter. I think COVID happened, everyone appreciated
- 2:16Speaker 3: the importance of Australian television. Everyone's stopped being cynical, and
- 2:20Speaker 3: I just feel it's a lighter touch this time around.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It is, and it is specifically if your work on
- 2:25Speaker 1: the piano, which has struck such an emotional chord with audiences,
- 2:30Speaker 1: what do you put that down to? What do you
- 2:31Speaker 1: think it is? Maybe what you just said about losing
- 2:33Speaker 1: some of the cynicism and everything, well maybe.
- 2:36Speaker 3: But I think there's a great word that I quote
- 2:38Speaker 3: all the time called sonda, and it means the gradual
- 2:41Speaker 3: realization that everyone is living a complex life. And when
- 2:46Speaker 3: I stand there at the piano and I look out
- 2:48Speaker 3: and I think it could be anyone here who's about
- 2:51Speaker 3: to come up and share a story, and it unites
- 2:54Speaker 3: us all that everyone's going through something. And I think
- 2:57Speaker 3: the show focuses on people who are on the upswing,
- 3:01Speaker 3: or else it'll just be too sad. So I think
- 3:03Speaker 3: it's about the healing power of music, of love, of
- 3:06Speaker 3: laughter and all those things, and I think everyone can
- 3:09Speaker 3: relate to that. Everyone can relate to seeing someone else
- 3:12Speaker 3: going through something reminds you that we're all going through something,
- 3:16Speaker 3: and yet there's this light touch about coming out of
- 3:18Speaker 3: it again.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Wow, Sondra, I love that. I'm going to use that
- 3:22Speaker 1: necessarily today. It is a great word. And of course
- 3:26Speaker 1: the other thing because now that you're hosting a number
- 3:29Speaker 1: one drive program, if you do win on the Sunday night,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you can party like it's nineteen ninety nine.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Lisa, I'd like to pretend that hadn't occurred to me,
- 3:38Speaker 3: but yes, it.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Has a number of times I would go to because
- 3:43Speaker 4: of the logans themselves finish around midnight, and then I think, look,
- 3:48Speaker 4: I'll go.
- 3:49Speaker 3: To the party. And then at about three, I think,
- 3:51Speaker 3: now I've got to push through and everyone else will
- 3:53Speaker 3: be going to bed, and I think, oh not, now
- 3:55Speaker 3: this is the worst time. So at least now I
- 3:58Speaker 3: can enjoy the part. You get a decent night's sleep,
- 4:02Speaker 3: and you know, get rid of the mascara under my
- 4:04Speaker 3: eyes during the normal part of the day.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Amanda, can I ask you, obviously this is for the piano,
- 4:09Speaker 2: is there anything else in the works for you, sort
- 4:12Speaker 2: of outside of radio? Is there another TV projector in
- 4:16Speaker 2: the midst or were just settling here, it.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Was going again. The piano's going again, and that's the
- 4:22Speaker 3: piano is as you can imagine, a fabulously uplifting but
- 4:26Speaker 3: emotionally exhausting. Yeah, so that's coming up again, and that's
- 4:30Speaker 3: towards the end of the year. So I think that
- 4:33Speaker 3: does mean like I like doing bits and pieces and
- 4:35Speaker 3: then the piano at the end of the year, and
- 4:37Speaker 3: then that sort of is enough for me. As I've
- 4:39Speaker 3: become one hundred and fifty eight years old.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It is a lovely ballance. Well, listen, we wish you
- 4:45Speaker 1: well the Burtnitton Award for the most Popular Presenter. It's
- 4:47Speaker 1: really fitting. You've been such a wonderful presenter for so long.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Don't worry, I'm just as old as you.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It looks more like bursts.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yes, we will all go and vote at tvweeklogis dot
- 5:03Speaker 1: com dot au and we all.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Hope Well, I was just going to say, we all
- 5:07Speaker 2: hope that on Monday, the seventeenth of August, we all
- 5:12Speaker 2: hear just a little bit of a hangover in your
- 5:14Speaker 2: voice from three on Gold Narty six FM with that other.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Fella Lisa and Russell. You will hear that whether I've
- 5:21Speaker 3: won or not.
- 5:22Speaker 2: It is so good. All right, well, good luck.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Thank you for your support. I appreciate it. Talk to
- 5:27Speaker 3: you both later.
